Latest / Bradders Grappers / 'The False 9' Down at the BRIDGE - Episode 8
Transcript
- 0:39Hello and welcome to Bradders Grappas.
- 0:44I'm your host PETA Brads as always.
- 0:48So this is episode 8. However, to do a bit of admin,
- 0:57this should really be episode 9. So a little kind of behind the
- 1:04scenes in a sense. Last week it saw Harry, who is
- 1:10in charge of Faithfully N the podcast that covers all things N
- 1:16wrestling. We did a almost 2 hour show on
- 1:24all Things N chatting about the lead show specifically.
- 1:31Unfortunately though, the audio that we recorded was, to be
- 1:39perfectly honest, crap. There was a lot of audio
- 1:45technical gremlins in the system.
- 1:48I had notable attempts of many friends and people of friends of
- 1:57friends who tried their best to salvage it but was effectively
- 2:03told in no uncertain terms I was fucked.
- 2:10So unfortunately that episode will never see the light of day
- 2:16or hear the light of day. But we will have Harry on when
- 2:23we do another N show which hopefully won't be too long.
- 2:32Fingers crossed. But again, thank you for Harry
- 2:37for taking the time out of his schedule to record a show that
- 2:41will never see the light of day. But we will have him back on to
- 2:49talk things N moving to this episode and what the plans are
- 2:58moving ahead. So because I've been to a lot of
- 3:05wrestling and will be for the next day or so.
- 3:12So Monday saw me heading to Bridge Pro Wrestling, which this
- 3:17episode will be covered. Wednesday saw me heading to
- 3:22Liverpool for Atomics Wrestling show.
- 3:29However we were meant to record a podcast on that on Friday and
- 3:36today is Saturday and unfortunately we didn't get
- 3:39time. This being due to having a bit
- 3:42of a decorating and moving furniture for for my folks.
- 3:47So I didn't get the time to sit down with Miles and chat about
- 3:53it. However we will be well we have
- 3:58scheduled it early next week to record not just what occurred at
- 4:05Atomic but also look at what happened at Infinite which took
- 4:11place the following day which was the first day at Hooters in
- 4:16Liverpool and by all sounds of everything seemed to be an
- 4:23incredible show. The lucky bar stools as I had a
- 4:27few friends go and all loved it. Unfortunately I was unavailable
- 4:34due to funds but there we go and tomorrow which is Sunday see if
- 4:44you can still stay with me on this.
- 4:46I will be at the Fairfield Social Club for future Shock
- 4:52Attitude error 2.0, which should be a really fun little kind of
- 5:01variety show in a spend in a sense because it's not as
- 5:06serious as the rest of the year. So because they're always good
- 5:13shows to have as well. That all being said, let's look
- 5:19back at last Monday night at the Amblecote Royal Legion Club,
- 5:26just on the I'll say on the outskirts of Stourbridge.
- 5:31It's still Stourbridge so this was for the 2nd anniversary show
- 5:40with the weirdness of being a Monday night instead of their
- 5:46traditional Friday night slots, which completely threw me this
- 5:52week and work because I did not have a clue what day it was.
- 5:57I felt very much like that period between Christmas and New
- 6:02Year. So yes it was.
- 6:07It was a bit puzzling this week for me, all all being said.
- 6:13That said though, looking as I say to what happened on Bridge
- 6:19Pros 2nd Anniversary show, things kicked off with a bang in
- 6:25many ways as before we even had the opening contest, we saw the
- 6:32People's Captain Steve Valentino being thrown through the curtain
- 6:38onto the stage and had Joe Blazer following him.
- 6:43As Valentino was literally just getting beaten the hell out of
- 6:47by everyone's favourite admired wrestler Joe Blazer, the two got
- 6:53in the ring and for Joe literally just continued the
- 6:59beat down using the World of Wrestling title that these two
- 7:05men would be fighting over later in the evening.
- 7:10Cracked Valentino a couple of times in the head with it.
- 7:15Left him laying there, kind of left the ring.
- 7:20All the crowd were cheering, Valentino kind of trying to gym
- 7:24up Blazer would hit him again, leaving him and also leaving
- 7:31with the World of Wrestling title.
- 7:35So that was an unexpected opening to the show.
- 7:43But we then moved to match #1 which for the third time in
- 7:49Bridge Pro history saw the Battle of the Bridge match with
- 7:55the two previous ones coming equally every year it seems.
- 8:01Looking at my notes now as it was on their debut show back in
- 8:062023 and the 1st Anniversary show which took place last year.
- 8:15So this match pitted the Tag Team Champions in the Exile
- 8:21pack, that being the 21st century hero Luke Douglas and
- 8:27the Inquisitor Alex Connors. They were teaming up with Alex
- 8:33Dean, the almost joint general manager it feels like.
- 8:43Along with him was Tyler Stevens of The Queen's Catch and the
- 8:49wild card which both teams had was none of her, the
- 8:54Manchester's own, the Mancunian stallion himself, Tom Felwell,
- 9:02which was always great to see Tom no matter what show he's on.
- 9:07He was on the heel team if you will for this.
- 9:12And on the babyface side, we had Levi Cooper, Lila Kyle, the moon
- 9:21age dream, Brad Osborne refs, the fresh from his I think it
- 9:28was his Barbados holiday. Last time there was a show for
- 9:31Bridge Pro and their wild card was Coach Mayon.
- 9:38So this was an absolutely chaotic contest from been a few
- 9:46times during this match. However before we get to that we
- 9:55had before the match the return of Stuart Somers who hasn't been
- 10:01on a Bridge Pro show for quite a while now.
- 10:06It feels like as he had disappeared for some time.
- 10:11However, he would make his long-awaited return, making a
- 10:16deal with Alex Dean, the other general manager, saying that if
- 10:23his side won, then the Exile Pack would have to put their tag
- 10:29team titles on the line later down the road.
- 10:34And despite Dean and the Exile Pack not really wanting to, they
- 10:42came to an agreement and said yes, because just needed some
- 10:48extra stakes this match really. And we we definitely got it.
- 10:54So the match itself, it was for the opening bell.
- 11:00It had Alex Dean chatting to the five in the ring and saying,
- 11:07let's not fight. Let's let's let's be reasonable
- 11:10people. Lyle Lyle Kyle being the pocket
- 11:15rocket that she is, wanted to choose violence over anything
- 11:21else. Ask the crowd do you want to see
- 11:25a fight? And we got a chant of fight
- 11:29fight fight and ended with all 5 beating up Alex Dean with his
- 11:36teammates not really wanting to get in there in truth.
- 11:42But then we ended up seeing a brawl with all 10 competitors.
- 11:50The eliminations as I have written down right here.
- 11:55So the first elimination was Tyler Stevens being schoolboy
- 12:02pinned by Coach Mayon. Mayon was then celebrating his
- 12:08would a bit too much with Stevens crawling across the ring
- 12:13to low blow him. This would help set up Tom
- 12:18Felwell hitting his massive lariat on coach Mayan to make it
- 12:244 on 4 refste. Then after I think it was a knee
- 12:32he used on, Tom got a bit giddy which is understandable, you
- 12:39rarely see a ref getting involved.
- 12:41However, he would come a cropper.
- 12:45Not kind of Roy Cropper obviously, but that said it was
- 12:51from Manchester how he went down and that was due to Tom Felwell
- 12:58with a second massive lariat to pin Refstea and make it 4 on
- 13:05three for the heel team. Lala Kyle then equal things,
- 13:13sorry Dean equaled things with A4
- 13:34so we then had Lila Kyle being rolled up by Dean and
- 13:39effectively left us with A4 on 2.
- 13:44Dean was then hit with an assisted cutter with Osbourne
- 13:49holding him up almost in. It was almost like a 3D but not
- 13:54a 3D as Levi Cooper came off the ropes hitting a cutter and saw
- 14:02both just pinning piling on top of each other.
- 14:10Tom Falwell was then next to go as he took AI think he took the
- 14:17same move which looked a bit now if memory serves.
- 14:23No again, it could have been the angle I had that saw things
- 14:30coming down to two on 2. Osborne was then hit with a
- 14:38briefcase from Connors, who the tag team titles currently are in
- 14:44a briefcase. They will not be taken out of
- 14:48the briefcase till they lose, but Connors has the briefcase
- 14:54clocks Osborne in the head, Douglas is right there to just
- 14:59make the pinfall and referee Adams or referee Adam Evans
- 15:06counts the pinfall and makes it two on one.
- 15:12Unfortunately it's Levi Cooper being the last man to go and
- 15:18having the heel team win as the Super kick and shoulder brake
- 15:23combo from the XL pack was enough to get the win for their
- 15:29team and have this tag team so far in Bridge Pro proving to be
- 15:35one of the most dominant tag teams that we have seen in the
- 15:41company over their two years running.
- 15:49Next up was the start of the one night Bridge Pro Title
- 15:55tournament to crown a #1 contender with the four
- 16:00participants being TJ Rex, JC Samuel Hughes and Liam Jones.
- 16:12So the first match we had on this tournament was TJ, Rex and
- 16:16JC. JC was literally running the
- 16:22crowd down and saying how much of A threat and how great he is.
- 16:29The microphone went out for 1/2 a second which did not play.
- 16:34Not please, shall I say if we can get the words out.
- 16:38I did not please JC. However, TJ Rex then realised
- 16:44that they could, you know, fuck around with the audios and
- 16:49proceeded to mess around with the audio while JC was talking,
- 16:56turned it off and drew a massive thank you TJ for turning his
- 17:02microphone off. We then got this match off and
- 17:08running, Rexy Boy having the better things to begin with, and
- 17:16it looked like for a large majority that JC was practically
- 17:22just going to get absolutely squashed in.
- 17:26In this contest, however, he would valiantly fight back,
- 17:32valiantly probably not being the right word to use, but he came
- 17:35back anyhow. Working on the arm of TJ Rex had
- 17:42Rex and a lot of problems trying to get a submission out of him,
- 17:48but TJ refused to kind of give in.
- 17:54In the end, it saw TJ Rex putting a submission hold on CJ
- 18:00to pick up the victory and advance to the final of the
- 18:06tournament. Match #2 In this Bridge Pro
- 18:14title tournament was the redhead Rascal Samuel Hughes taking on
- 18:22the man mounting himself fresh from Japan in Liam Jones.
- 18:29And this was such a good match, it has to be said, and I'd
- 18:35arguably go as far as saying that, well, I don't want to
- 18:40spoil it, I'll come back to that later.
- 18:44But this, this is such a hard hitting match, obviously used
- 18:53being outweighed by Jones who used his beefy kind of blows and
- 19:01just like his his arsenal that he had on Hughes was just a bit
- 19:08too much. That said, Hughes put up a
- 19:12massive effort in this contest, did not stay down.
- 19:18Jones seemed to throw everything at him, but Hughes would not
- 19:22give in. Battled hard, did have Jones and
- 19:27a fair bit of trouble himself if truth be told.
- 19:32Hughes and Jones just went back and forth.
- 19:35This was arguably up there for match of the night.
- 19:40In the end though, it's our Jones hitting a brutal lariat on
- 19:47Samuel Hughes, following up very quickly with a pile driver to
- 19:52see him getting the 123 and having Jones meeting TJ Rex in
- 20:00the final of the one night tournament after the match.
- 20:07It saw Jones grabbing Hughes, raising his arm as if to say,
- 20:13take all the applause, you deserve it.
- 20:17It's not your night tonight, but it will be down the line.
- 20:20And I think what we're seeing with Hughes at the moment is for
- 20:25so long he was everyone's hated person in Bridgeboro.
- 20:35But since he's kind of left or you could say was kicked out of
- 20:41the Queen's catch, this Samuel Hughes that has returned seems
- 20:45to be an even more motivated and driven Samuel Hughes, a one that
- 20:51we haven't seen before. And the matches he's put on
- 20:57since then as well. They've been.
- 21:00So they've been different, but they've been really fun to
- 21:04watch. He's taken so much, not abuse,
- 21:09but he's taken so many hits. He's been beaten up quite a lot
- 21:17in these matches. But there's always been this era
- 21:21of will he flip back to his old ways or or is this a new
- 21:28version? But I think after his match he
- 21:31had with Steve Valentino a couple of months ago at Golden
- 21:35Days, I think it was back in September, Valentino I think
- 21:42just looked at pews and thought you haven't changed and seem to
- 21:48draw as much kind of bad out of him to try and lure the real
- 21:57Samuel Hughes out. And no matter what he did, it
- 22:01did not work. And Valentino said afterwards
- 22:04that one he had done his respect and he sense there was a change
- 22:09in the red headed Rascal, red haired red haired Rascal.
- 22:16But either way, this new and improved Samuel Hughes
- 22:20definitely looks I've I've said he's, he looks a star.
- 22:26And I think the way things are going, he is building himself
- 22:32towards being arguably, I feel at least a potential champion
- 22:40much down the line. But I can see it, which it's
- 22:48going to be an exciting Rd. I feel for Hughes.
- 22:55But then Speaking of Valentino, we had the two out of Free
- 23:02Falls, which I know that Mister Ogden hearing that will roll his
- 23:08eyes because two out of free falls practically means we're
- 23:13getting free falls unless it's a very rare occurrence in
- 23:17wrestling. But enough of kind of the
- 23:21downplaying. This was as I say, this was a
- 23:25two out of free falls match for the World of Wrestling title
- 23:32with the champion, the People's Captain Steve Valentino taking
- 23:38on the admired Joe Blazer. This again, this was up there
- 23:46for match of the night. Valentino came into it bruised
- 23:54and not bruised, but battered at the very most from his attack
- 24:01from Joe earlier in the night. Even his entrance of trying to
- 24:07kind of like just hit the the hands of the fans as he went
- 24:12round, you could tell he wasn't in the best place body wise.
- 24:21But this did not stop this from being a hell of a match.
- 24:23I'll say that now. The first, it took a while.
- 24:28I fought for the 1st fall because traditionally with these
- 24:35type of stipulation matches, you tend to get the first couple of
- 24:40falls out the way early and then the 3rd fall is equally as long.
- 24:48Oh, not equally is very long than the other two.
- 24:54That said, they were all evenly paced in terms of the free falls
- 25:00we had. So the first fall went the way
- 25:03of Joe Blaser hitting a variant of a backstabber with the arms
- 25:10held kind of back behind Valentino.
- 25:15That made it one nail blazer. 2nd fall saw Valentino reversing
- 25:23a move to get the 123, leading to the third and final fall
- 25:32where Blazer just attacked the body and the ribs of Valentino
- 25:40was doing everything to just cause absolute mayhem and pain
- 25:46and destruction to him. Steve did a fighting champion is
- 25:53what we can say here. Refused to give in showing that
- 25:58championship spirit much like the Hurricanes did in the old
- 26:03kids cartoons. However, in the end, it saw a
- 26:10coupe de Gras or coupe de gras sorry, or a double foot stomp
- 26:15off the top rope from Valentino getting Blazer well and truly
- 26:21good. I did not want to be on the end
- 26:24of that, I can tell you that right now.
- 26:28That ended the match with a 21V to Steve Valentino and Seize the
- 26:35World of Wrestling title safely in the treasure chest of
- 26:42Valentino and have afterwards Steve grabbing the mic telling
- 26:50Joe that he's he's really good. Expected like Blazer to take
- 26:57cheap shots and kind of cheat a bit more.
- 27:03But on this night, Steve said he proved that he's he's an
- 27:06extremely good wrestler, put his hand out as a show of respect.
- 27:12And I thought, is Blazer going to be a nice guy here?
- 27:21And just as it looked like he was going to put his hand out,
- 27:24he very quickly had a change of thought and rolled out the ring.
- 27:29Valentino could only chuckle at the actions of Blazer.
- 27:35So I think possibly this might be the end of that feud, but who
- 27:42knows. But if it was, it was a hell of
- 27:48a way to end it. After the interval we had
- 28:03everyone's favourite buddy cop duo of Lally, that being Lana
- 28:11Austin and Holly Barlow. I think if you've seen the clips
- 28:19of the entrance for Lolly, you will have noticed that Lana, in
- 28:24her nice way of telling me not to wear a hat, removed my woolly
- 28:32hat twice and threw as far as she could twice.
- 28:38I had Holly, lovely Holly, getting my hat for me,
- 28:43presenting it to me as I was there in a Holly Barlow shirt
- 28:49which I think she appreciated. However, Alana just looked at me
- 28:56and I presented that back to Alana.
- 28:59She grabbed the wool hat and threw it to the other side to
- 29:03which a little kid brought it back for me.
- 29:05So thank you. To which being the only other
- 29:11Mancunian in that building picking on her fellow Mancunian
- 29:16I thought was a bit off, but I still cheered for him.
- 29:20I can't help it. They were taking on the team of
- 29:27the future Zack Walker and Chantelle Jordan.
- 29:33This was a real. I suppose this is what you could
- 29:37have called the light relief match for Walker and Jordan.
- 29:43This is probably 1 of their easier matches which I don't
- 29:52really want to say easier, but the battles these two have been
- 29:57in, it almost felt like Will will give you a bit of a light
- 30:02alone tonight. Chantelle, who faced her brother
- 30:08Brandon in a brutal match for the Bridge Pro title to
- 30:15determine the first ever champion.
- 30:19And then you had Zach Walker, who I mean every, every show he
- 30:24seems to be just getting better and better but equally getting
- 30:30beat up as much. This was just a fun match.
- 30:36In all fairness, Holly spent equally as much time on the on
- 30:41the outside kind of chat, chatting to kids, waving to
- 30:46kids, having photos with fans, and pretty much just left Lana
- 30:51up on her own to to do the match.
- 30:54Really, Lana and Jordan seemed to do the brunt of the wrestling
- 31:02gear it felt. I mean Holly was in it for a
- 31:06fair bit of time as well was the one that seemed to be isolated
- 31:11out of the two. But once kind of the main meat
- 31:17of this effectively saw Lana doing all the heavy loading to
- 31:24which the end of it saw AI think it was AI can't think what the
- 31:30actual movies and I should do, which is my fault.
- 31:33Roaring forearm to Chantelle Jordan, she got the pinfall.
- 31:41Holly was still having photos on the outside with fans.
- 31:46One with my mate Ian. So if you're listening Ian, good
- 31:50evening mate. Holly then realised did one, got
- 31:54in the ring, dove all over Lana in a celebratory way to which
- 32:02Lana did not particularly appreciate or want because Lana
- 32:07just can't see that Holly really wants her to be good friends
- 32:13with her and Lana wants nothing to do with her.
- 32:19But the law and the history of Lally continues.
- 32:26Good to see a Mancunian wrestler or a team from Manchester
- 32:33winning because the last time I didn't see a Manchester winner,
- 32:40but again, it's understandable. We then came to the end of the
- 32:49tournament with the number one contenders match in the one
- 32:53night tournament with TJ Rex taking on Liam Jones.
- 32:58Now I said earlier I was going to make a comment about Jones.
- 33:04I'll come to it now. This man was involved in two
- 33:09bangers in this show, his semi final match with Samuel Hughes
- 33:16and this match in the final, if it can get me words right, was
- 33:23one of the standout matches. Could we say this was the match
- 33:28of the night? I think because of all like the
- 33:37shenanigans went along with this match and kind of I think needed
- 33:42to as well. I'll put it as maybe just a
- 33:49shade under the match of the night, but it is definitely in
- 33:54the conversation. So as we got to this final
- 33:59match, we had Rex, who had a bad left arm, Jones who constantly
- 34:08seem to struggle with a bad left leg.
- 34:12So I suppose you could say they were they were all right.
- 34:15Jesus, make yourself laugh at your own jokes.
- 34:19Better for God's sake. It's supposed to be seriousness.
- 34:24So the match itself was, I would say, a slow burner.
- 34:31So neither man wanted to obviously kind of do anything as
- 34:38we were both carrying injuries heading into the final.
- 34:44They were very, I'll say, cautious about not wanting to
- 34:48give up an early submission or a pin.
- 34:52But that said, the crowd on this show was not it's traditional
- 35:00vocal kind of 100% all out. Arguably, you could say it was
- 35:10because it was a different night or it was just a, it felt like
- 35:17the crowd was a bit tired. Now you could make a case that
- 35:24the wrestling was so good that arguably they went they peaked
- 35:29too early, but that said, the crowd just wasn't there.
- 35:40I'll say to butt of it because Bridge Pro is easily one of the
- 35:46rowdiest for a kind of like family type show.
- 35:52It's not a family type show, but I almost feel like because the
- 35:58crowd wasn't fully invested, it hurt this much to a degree.
- 36:05Both men were putting on some excellent technical skills.
- 36:11Then we saw some kind of high flying, or if not high flying,
- 36:19some very energetic moves. This was kind of, it seemed very
- 36:26close contest and we were just getting towards the middle bit.
- 36:31JC then jumps into the ring beating up both men, grabs a
- 36:37microphone and says if he can't be the top contender then no one
- 36:42can be. This then led to Samuel Hughes
- 36:47sliding into the ring taking JC out with a dead eye.
- 36:53He then grabs the mic and says these two lads have busted their
- 36:59ass from to get to this point in on the night.
- 37:04You can't have it end in a no contest or double whatever.
- 37:10Give the fans what they want. The fans want to see an end to
- 37:14this, they want a definitive winner.
- 37:18To which the crowd still seemed a bit tired at that point, but
- 37:24they did get a reaction. The crowd all wanted to see who
- 37:27won, who would win out of these two.
- 37:31The decision was made to restart the match and from then on it
- 37:36felt like these two just took it up an extra level.
- 37:41To which you could say they were holding it back before what
- 37:46happened. So as the match went on, both
- 37:50men seem to look for the submission hold.
- 37:56Rex was trying to get Jones up, could not get him up because of
- 38:02his arm. Rex really kind of did did a
- 38:07good job of trying to show that his arm was really bad.
- 38:11Jones at the same time was flexing his leg a lot,
- 38:15indicating that his leg was not in good shape.
- 38:20It was a very back and forth contest where you thought TJ had
- 38:25it, then it swung the other way to Jones.
- 38:29Then when you thought, right, we must be getting to the end bit
- 38:33now this must be where it ends and it didn't.
- 38:38And they did a really good job of having the crowd unsure of
- 38:42which way this match was going to go, which proved why it was
- 38:49one of the best matches of the night.
- 38:53In the end it saw TJ trying to put a almost like a leg hook on
- 39:03on Jones. However, Liam while in the move
- 39:08grabbed the bad arm of Rex and forced the submission hole or
- 39:14sorry the submission from TJ Rex to be crowned the number one
- 39:21contender of the one night tournament.
- 39:26This was such a good match. It really was obviously Jones as
- 39:35I think those that have seen Jones will know that if you look
- 39:39at him, you think he's just going to be power moves.
- 39:44And in fairness he is predominantly powerful, but he
- 39:49has moves in his arsenal that just make you think, oh wow, I
- 39:53didn't expect that twitch. It's almost, it's a bit like
- 39:57Will Cruz. You look at him and you'd think,
- 40:01well, this man couldn't do like a Spanish fly and by God he can
- 40:07do a Spanish fly. He is almost in the same mould,
- 40:13I think, as as Cruz. They are both big men, both got
- 40:18the power moves, both equally talented talented men.
- 40:26Always love seeing Liam on shows.
- 40:30I don't think he gets booked anywhere close to where he
- 40:34should be. I think he should be on more
- 40:36shows personally, but that's just me.
- 40:42Either I have Poltergeist or someone is knocking next door
- 40:47which is too late because we are after Halloween.
- 40:53And so we come to the main event of the 2nd Anniversary show
- 41:02which was for the Bridge Pro Grand Championship.
- 41:06Brandon Jordan, the recent winner and 1st holder of the
- 41:13Bridge Pro Grand title. His first defence was in a
- 41:18triple threat match against the speed demon Edgar Adams and the
- 41:24Skywalker Nate Riley. This was just ridiculous, and I
- 41:36think you saw how ridiculous it was when the first thing we saw
- 41:42was Riley super kicking Adams almost out of the match to begin
- 41:48with because it was the most brutal super kick I've seen for
- 41:53some time. But that was almost a call back
- 41:57to when Adams had done the same to Zack Walker on a previous
- 42:03show. I want to say Golden Days in
- 42:06September, but I don't think it was.
- 42:11But from from then on it was just chaos.
- 42:16All three men fought on the outside.
- 42:20Riley and I think it was Adam's had a fight at the bar.
- 42:29Then we we saw the a table being used.
- 42:33I think it was. I think it was Adam's used tried
- 42:38to not suplex but he did a move to Riley which completely took a
- 42:47couple of people by surprise. Jordan who seems to spend more
- 42:54time on the outside staying away from all the trouble, which is
- 42:58what a clever champion does. He would get his stuff in as
- 43:03well. This is just chaos.
- 43:08In fairness Riley did AI think he did a suicide dive to the
- 43:14outside taking out both Adams and Jordan.
- 43:23Then we it was just back and forth action with loads of near
- 43:28falls. It really was one of those where
- 43:32you couldn't tell where it was going.
- 43:37I think in the back of my head I always thought Jordan would come
- 43:39out somehow. But come the end of it, it saw
- 43:46Jordan hitting a frog splash for the 123 to retain his Bridge Pro
- 43:53title. A really good match, three young
- 44:01lads really just putting in a hell of a shift, entertaining
- 44:04the crowd. Again, as I said earlier,
- 44:09whether it was just kind of the crowd was tired very early on or
- 44:17I don't even want to say it was because it finished late,
- 44:20because it didn't, it actually finished earlier than the
- 44:24normal, but it just felt like the crowd was a bit off.
- 44:29So maybe that's because it was on a Monday instead of a Friday,
- 44:34who knows, But it was just that the match between Rex and Jones
- 44:44and this one I think just lacked the real like crowd gusto, so to
- 44:52speak. The crowd was still there, but
- 44:56they just seemed a bit low, which it's a bit of a shame for
- 45:01the for the wrestlers who tried to put on as much of a good
- 45:05match as they could, but I think it hurt it at times.
- 45:11However, the next time that Bridge Pro are back will be on a
- 45:17Friday night, so here's hoping that that helps things because
- 45:23to be fair, taking the crowd out of the whole thing, the show
- 45:29itself, Another banger from Bridge Pro I I could go on about
- 45:34how good they are, and you've probably seen me say loads of
- 45:40times before, there is a reason why I make almost the 2 1/2 hour
- 45:48trip to Bridge Pro taking about 3 trains.
- 45:54On a bad day it could be 5 as January proved, plus a £92.90
- 46:00Uber ride from Smevik. Not that I've have nightmares of
- 46:07that evening, but yeah. Bridge.
- 46:11What Ryan Parrott's put on is great wrestling.
- 46:19A mix of some of the well known UK talent there is in the UK
- 46:25right now on top of like the best Midlands talent there is.
- 46:32And the fact that he'd put out as well on an e-mail just
- 46:36thanking everyone for like the last couple of years for Bridge
- 46:40Bro. How the whole Midland scene
- 46:45helps over promotions out as well.
- 46:48There's no kind of bitchiness because he's worked with
- 46:53different promotions. Everyone seems to be better for
- 47:00it, which is really what you want in wrestling.
- 47:03You don't want like divisions because let's face it, fans
- 47:08online a bad enough. If you want divisions, go on
- 47:11Twitter. You'll see enough of them.
- 47:15That said, you get great wrestling at Bridge Pro.
- 47:20For the money you pay to get a ticket at Bridge Pro, it is more
- 47:27entertaining, I feel, than what you would get at one of the top
- 47:33end shows because I think on them you're paying for like the
- 47:38name value. And I think for like the the I
- 47:46don't really want to say under shows, but kind of like the the
- 47:52real like indie shows. So that's not like a progress or
- 47:59Rev pro outside of that, the smaller shows, we'll say the
- 48:07smaller shows I think are far better than the very top end
- 48:11shows. I could easily watch.
- 48:15I could it's like tomorrow I'm going to go to future shock and
- 48:18I know I'm going to have a good time.
- 48:21I could easily go to Atomic in Liverpool, I could go to
- 48:30Infinity off the page, catch pro, soft Pro when they're
- 48:36running. We'll come to that later on off
- 48:41the page. I think I've already said, if I
- 48:43haven't, I'll say them again. Just all the TNT, all these
- 48:48shows that we have in the Northwest, we are, I'd almost
- 48:52say we are blessed with shows we have in the Northwest and the
- 48:57talent that we have in the Northwest.
- 49:01If you look around the argument I've seen online of currently,
- 49:11the talent in the north of the country seems to be as good now
- 49:18or if not better than it ever been before.
- 49:22And I will even throw in kind of like Yorkshire and Newcastle and
- 49:29even Scotland for that matter. Because for, I think for since I
- 49:36first started watching British wrestling like years ago when it
- 49:42used to be on live TV, if people can remember that far back, it
- 49:48seemed to be predominantly like the South.
- 49:53But now you've got like, you'll always have a good scene in the
- 49:57South always, because it's pretty much where you have to go
- 50:02to be seen. You've got the Midland scene,
- 50:06which is arguably, arguably level if you took the North as a
- 50:17whole as well. I mean, there's so many good
- 50:21Midlands wrestlers, there's equally as many good Northern
- 50:25wrestlers. But if we kind of take that out
- 50:29of the equation of like who's better N Midland South and all
- 50:32this, If you look at it as a whole, British wrestling as a
- 50:37whole is in a really great place.
- 50:44Just the talent that there is out there.
- 50:47I think. I don't want to put names to
- 50:51quotes who it might not be, but there was one quote that I saw
- 50:55this morning saying why pay all this money for an import when
- 51:01you could give that to a younger talented British wrestler who is
- 51:10equally deserving of being on a big show or being on a show that
- 51:16is surely much of A beneficiary to not just the wrestler but to
- 51:22the show and bringing the and highlighting and growing
- 51:27wrestlers to making them better. Which he is true because you can
- 51:35bring in top stars and they turn up to shows and a fair few times
- 51:41they've been awful. However, talent in the UK is
- 51:51getting better. There's so much I could say
- 51:54about it but I don't want to overrun on this.
- 52:00But as I say, going to bridge pro, the talent that I now see
- 52:04there that if I didn't go to these shows, I wouldn't see some
- 52:09of the likes of Edgar Adams, Brandon Jordan, Nate Riley, sat
- 52:16Walker, TJ Rex, just loads of like that's omnishore and even
- 52:27previous bridge shows. But what they do well bridge is
- 52:32sprinkle it in with like some of the top stars and you'll some of
- 52:39the big attractions as well from the UK scene with local talent,
- 52:44which is why I love going to these shows.
- 52:50But yeah, that's that's my little random British wrestling
- 52:53for this week. Thank you for getting through
- 52:58this. I've treated you lovely people
- 53:00because it's not even an hour. You lucky, lucky people.
- 53:07So with that oh before I leave Bridge Pros next show is on the
- 53:166th of March at the Amblecote Royal Legion Club.
- 53:22Tickets are available if not limited.
- 53:26So if you fancy going along I highly recommend taking in a
- 53:30show. They are really good shows that
- 53:35you put on. I can't recommend them highly
- 53:38enough. But yeah, that's the end of this
- 53:43episode. Hopefully you've enjoyed my
- 53:49ranting and raving on things. Bridge Pro Hopefully it will be
- 53:55a two man show next time because I think one man shows don't
- 54:01particularly help too much. But you know when when you're on
- 54:07your own and you haven't anyone you can bounce off, this is the
- 54:11best you can do. But for now, at least today,
- 54:18thank God. I'll try and keep a voice.
- 54:22Thank you for listening. Enjoy your wrestling this
- 54:27weekend. If you're watching the show on
- 54:30Sunday, I will see you at Fairfield.
- 54:33Come and say hi. I will be the one awkward in
- 54:37either a black or Ray woolly hat, a baseball jersey.
- 54:46I think Peter's Dorsch. We'll, we'll see, but for now,
- 54:53thanks for listening.
