Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Good morning everybody. What's happening is this girl? And today
- 0:04Speaker 1: is Monday. Nice. Anyway, We're gonna talk a little bit
- 0:09Speaker 1: right now about Donald Trump and the monkey video, the
- 0:16Speaker 1: in the jungle video thing. Don't get me wrong. Now,
- 0:21Speaker 1: we need to talk really about when the message gets
- 0:24Speaker 1: lost and why that post was was just a mistake, right,
- 0:29Speaker 1: So let's let's make no mistake about it. I want
- 0:34Speaker 1: to be very clear from the start, I voted for
- 0:37Speaker 1: Donald Trump. I have been supporting his policies. I still
- 0:41Speaker 1: believe many of his instincts about America are right. But
- 0:45Speaker 1: loyalty to Donald Trump does not mean silence, especially when
- 0:49Speaker 1: something hurts the movement that we care about. The movement
- 0:53Speaker 1: out speaking of as Christian Conservatism. Now, because that post
- 0:57Speaker 1: that circulated depicted them as as monkeys, that wasn't just
- 1:03Speaker 1: offensive to many people. It wasn't just unnecessary. It was
- 1:08Speaker 1: a strategic, moral, and political mistake. Make no mistake about
- 1:14Speaker 1: Donald Trump did not post that video, but someone he
- 1:19Speaker 1: trust did post that video. He did not apologize. He
- 1:25Speaker 1: should have apologized. And if any conservatives, Christian conservatives, don't
- 1:30Speaker 1: say that out loud, then we surrender the meral highline
- 1:35Speaker 1: that we claim that we are defeeling. So I have
- 1:38Speaker 1: a few little points. Okay, so this wasn't about offense.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It was about strategy. So let's get something strange. This
- 1:46Speaker 1: isn't about me being sensitive. This isn't about me being
- 1:50Speaker 1: too sensitive. It isn't about bowing down to the left,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and it certainly isn't about apologizing for my beliefs. It's
- 1:57Speaker 1: about losing the plot right. The post didn't advance a
- 2:01Speaker 1: single conservative argument. It didn't do anything about inflation, not
- 2:07Speaker 1: about the border, security, not about prime not about foreign policy,
- 2:13Speaker 1: not about corruption or accountability. Instead, handed the left exactly
- 2:18Speaker 1: what they wanted, a distraction that refrained Trump supporters as
- 2:23Speaker 1: being on serious, cruel, reckless. You know, politics is not therapy,
- 2:29Speaker 1: it's persuasion, and that post persuaded no one who wasn't
- 2:34Speaker 1: already locked in. The second point I want to make
- 2:37Speaker 1: is that conservatism is about human dignity. Here's where I'm
- 2:42Speaker 1: going to say something that needs to be said more
- 2:44Speaker 1: cost them right. Conservatism is supposed to be about human dignity,
- 2:48Speaker 1: limited government, human dignity, rule of law, human dignity, equal
- 2:54Speaker 1: treatment under the law, human dignity, personal responsibility, human dignity,
- 3:00Speaker 1: don't get to defend those principles about stripping dignities from
- 3:03Speaker 1: people you disagree with. That is one of the biggest
- 3:06Speaker 1: problems with Donald Trump, the fact that he may be
- 3:10Speaker 1: right about a few things. But there is a time
- 3:13Speaker 1: and a place to say nothing. Sometimes, just as there's
- 3:18Speaker 1: a time in a place to say something, often times
- 3:22Speaker 1: there's a time and a place to say nothing. So
- 3:24Speaker 1: when conservatives criticize the left, we say they they dehumanize
- 3:29Speaker 1: their opponents, they reduced people to lanes. Now they mock
- 3:34Speaker 1: instead of debate. And then Donald Trump posts something like
- 3:38Speaker 1: that that comes out and suddenly we look like hypocrites.
- 3:42Speaker 1: More importantly, he looks like a hypocrite. You cannot fight
- 3:45Speaker 1: cultural rock or participating in it. And what he did
- 3:49Speaker 1: was exactly what he and people like me say that
- 3:54Speaker 1: we don't want. We don't want the cultural rock. We
- 3:57Speaker 1: want everything to have a should moral value, with living
- 4:02Speaker 1: the government. But it's Donald Trump. I mean, I didn't
- 4:07Speaker 1: expect anything less. I did, however, expected something a little
- 4:11Speaker 1: bit better than what he did. So let me tell
- 4:14Speaker 1: you who won the moment that post went one. Not Trump,
- 4:17Speaker 1: not Christians, not conservatives, not voters worrying about the economy,
- 4:21Speaker 1: the media one, the liberal medium one, because overnight the
- 4:24Speaker 1: conversation stopped being about Biden's record, Biden's health, Biden's policy failures,
- 4:30Speaker 1: the institutional audience that comes along it all became Look
- 4:34Speaker 1: how unhinged Trump supporters are. Look how unhinged Trump is.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Every liberal anchor, every OpEd, every late night idiot had
- 4:43Speaker 1: a gift rapped there. And worst of all, they didn't
- 4:46Speaker 1: even have to exaggerate. When you give your opponents ammunition,
- 4:50Speaker 1: don't be shocked when they use it. If you give
- 4:52Speaker 1: me ammunition, we need to go to more. I'm using it. Okay,
- 4:58Speaker 1: not only that, but let's go with the fourth thing
- 5:02Speaker 1: that happened. This coalition that we're supposed to build. These
- 5:05Speaker 1: people that were bringing in from the left who are
- 5:08Speaker 1: tired of the woke identity politics crap. Here's the uncomfortable
- 5:13Speaker 1: truth that many people don't want to face. Those people
- 5:19Speaker 1: on the left. They're the reason why elections are one
- 5:22Speaker 1: and why elections are one on small margins, Those suburban voters,
- 5:26Speaker 1: the minority voters who drifted right, the independents are fed
- 5:30Speaker 1: up with chaos. Those voters care about people who are stable, decent, competent.
- 5:38Speaker 1: They may like Trump's policies, but they hesitate because of
- 5:42Speaker 1: moments exactly like this. Not post didn't far up any
- 5:45Speaker 1: new voters, it didn't convert skeptics. It persuaded people, and
- 5:51Speaker 1: it pushed them away. And if you care about winning,
- 5:54Speaker 1: not just vincing online and say what you think is true.
- 6:01Speaker 1: One of the biggest things about Trump is he doesn't
- 6:03Speaker 1: realize that discipline is power. There may be some things
- 6:06Speaker 1: that he's disciplined them, but his ego and his pride
- 6:10Speaker 1: just won't stop. The strongest leaders don't say everything they
- 6:14Speaker 1: can say. They say what advances the mission. Trump at
- 6:18Speaker 1: his bestness discipline focused on the outcomes. He's focused on levers,
- 6:23Speaker 1: focused on winning. That post wasn't about being of that.
- 6:26Speaker 1: That post wasn't strength. It was impulsive, which is exactly
- 6:30Speaker 1: who he is. And conservatives used to understand that discipline
- 6:34Speaker 1: is power and speech and conduct and leadership. You don't
- 6:39Speaker 1: beat your enemies by becoming a caricature of what they
- 6:41Speaker 1: accuse you of being. So let me just close out, okay,
- 6:47Speaker 1: what we need to hold the line without losing the
- 6:50Speaker 1: soul of the party. Right, I'm still a conservative, I'm
- 6:53Speaker 1: a Christian first, I'm still a conservative, I still believe
- 6:56Speaker 1: this country needs serious my farm, and I think the
- 6:59Speaker 1: less vision there's dangerous. Look, I know the left's vision
- 7:03Speaker 1: is dangers, but I also believe this. If we abandon decency,
- 7:06Speaker 1: we abandoned credibility. If we abandoned just upon, we abandoned
- 7:10Speaker 1: the victory that we need. If we abandon the principle,
- 7:13Speaker 1: we become what we oppose. Calling out a mistake is
- 7:17Speaker 1: not betrayal to the Christian Conservative movement. It's how this
- 7:20Speaker 1: movement will survive. And if we want to win, not
- 7:24Speaker 1: just shout. We need to remember what we're fighting for.
- 7:26Speaker 1: That it's not just who we're fighting against, it's what
- 7:30Speaker 1: we're fighting for, not who we're fighting against. So remember
- 7:36Speaker 1: John and Trump. I hope you understand. I hope you listen.
- 7:39Speaker 1: You're never gonna listen to me, but there's people that
- 7:41Speaker 1: you should be listening to. If someone didn't think twice
- 7:44Speaker 1: about posting that that they're idiots that should have never known,
- 7:49Speaker 1: that should have never been posted. So I'm gonna stop
- 7:52Speaker 1: here for now. But this is my point of view,
- 7:55Speaker 1: and that is it for thout. I'm done with Donald
- 7:57Speaker 1: Trump's bull problem. Okay, it needs to be called out,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm guilt, I'm gil guilty. Thanks for listening, and I'll
- 8:06Speaker 1: see you next time later mm hmm
