- 0:16Speaker 1: Good morning, thank you for joining us on our Monday
- 0:18Speaker 1: edition of Morning Moments with Jesus here on our podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So glad you could join us, had a little time
- 0:23Speaker 1: off last week, but so glad to be back with you.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This morning, the Word of God comes to us out
- 0:28Speaker 1: of Philippians chapter 1, verse number 3, as I'm kind
- 0:31Speaker 1: of putting the finishing touches on a collection of songs
- 0:34Speaker 1: that I'll have out probably in a couple of weeks.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And one of the songs on there has a particular
- 0:39Speaker 1: importance and a meaning to me. The Word of God
- 0:43Speaker 1: comes out of Philippians, like I said, chapter 1, verse
- 0:45Speaker 1: number 3, when the Apostle Paul writes, I thank my
- 0:48Speaker 1: God upon every remembrance of you. And I keyed in
- 0:54Speaker 1: on that phrase, every remembrance. And a couple of years ago,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I saw a background picture on an elderly man's iPad.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And what it was, it was a view from his
- 1:05Speaker 1: front porch and it was a beautiful snowfall covering the
- 1:08Speaker 1: yard in the morning time. Now his wife had passed
- 1:12Speaker 1: away several years earlier and for some reason I found
- 1:15Speaker 1: myself wondering why he had chosen that picture for his background.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And so my mind just kind of got to wondering
- 1:23Speaker 1: about that and perhaps it reminded him of a morning
- 1:27Speaker 1: that they had stood together in that very doorway, you know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: looking at the snowfall. Maybe they had watched the snow
- 1:34Speaker 1: come down while they were having coffee together and kind
- 1:37Speaker 1: of talked about how the roads were and, you know,
- 1:39Speaker 1: or just simply enjoying being home together. I don't know
- 1:43Speaker 1: exactly what the photograph meant to him, but the thought
- 1:47Speaker 1: of that moment stayed with me for some reason. It
- 1:50Speaker 1: became the beginning of a song that I wrote called
- 1:53Speaker 1: When the Snow Falls. And when When I really got
- 1:58Speaker 1: it with this scripture this morning, what the Holy Spirit
- 2:00Speaker 1: was really kind of reminding me of is when we
- 2:03Speaker 1: have shared years of life with someone, ordinary things begin
- 2:08Speaker 1: to hold precious memories, don't they? Maybe it's a familiar
- 2:12Speaker 1: view or a favorite chair. Maybe it's the first snow
- 2:15Speaker 1: on a winter that can bring a voice back that
- 2:18Speaker 1: you long to hear again. Sometimes the memory makes us
- 2:22Speaker 1: smile and sometimes it brings tears. But if we're honest,
- 2:27Speaker 1: most of the time it does both. And I believe
- 2:30Speaker 1: God allows us to remember those moments. I really do
- 2:33Speaker 1: because the memory of love matters. And I want you
- 2:37Speaker 1: to get that this morning. The memory of love will
- 2:42Speaker 1: always matter. The sadness we feel, that doesn't mean that
- 2:46Speaker 1: we should turn away from that memory. It may be
- 2:49Speaker 1: part of recognizing how beautiful that time was together. See,
- 2:54Speaker 1: Paul wrote, I thank my God on every remembrance of you,
- 2:57Speaker 1: not just the good things, not just the things that
- 2:59Speaker 1: make us smile, but even remembering the things that sometimes
- 3:03Speaker 1: kind of break our heart that they're not with us anymore.
- 3:06Speaker 1: He knew that remembering someone could become an occasion to
- 3:10Speaker 1: be thankful and have a spirit of thanksgiving that we
- 3:15Speaker 1: were able to spend those moments and we were able
- 3:18Speaker 1: to make those memories. So we can thank God for
- 3:21Speaker 1: the years that we've been given for the laughter and
- 3:23Speaker 1: That still comes to mind, the quiet moments we didn't
- 3:26Speaker 1: know that someday they would become treasures. See, if someone today,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I believe this is what really the Lord wants to
- 3:34Speaker 1: speak to us. If someone you love is with you today,
- 3:38Speaker 1: then take time to share another ordinary moment with them.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Maybe stand together at the door. Maybe watch the weather change.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's changing a lot this time of year. Say what
- 3:48Speaker 1: you appreciate about them. Tell them that they matter to you.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Because see, these simple things have a way of becoming
- 3:56Speaker 1: memories that we carry long after they're gone. And if
- 4:01Speaker 1: you're missing someone today, you don't have to push every
- 4:04Speaker 1: memory aside just to get through the day. Let yourself remember.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Thank God for the love you shared. And ask Him
- 4:15Speaker 1: to meet you in the heartache of that absence as
- 4:18Speaker 1: well as the joy of remembering the good times. Because
- 4:22Speaker 1: I know this to be true. The snow will be
- 4:25Speaker 1: falling soon. Probably sooner than we think. And it may
- 4:29Speaker 1: cover a familiar place, but it can never erase the
- 4:33Speaker 1: life that was lived there. So today I want you
- 4:37Speaker 1: to think about this. Sometimes when the snow falls, we
- 4:41Speaker 1: remember just how much it meant to be beside someone
- 4:45Speaker 1: we love. So today you be safe, you be strong,
- 4:50Speaker 1: and you be blessed. And I hope you enjoy When
- 4:54Speaker 1: the Snow.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Falls Snowflakes on the window Cold wind at my door.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I still hear your laughter But not.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Your touch anymore.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I look across this cold room For just a glimpse
- 5:40Speaker 3: of your face But then my soul reminds.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Me There's only memories in your place.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Every time the snow.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Falls I feel you close.
- 6:00Speaker 4: To me Like a shadow in the moonlight Or a
- 6:09Speaker 4: whisper through the trees It seems I miss you more
- 6:22Speaker 4: Walking through the places.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Where we used to go.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Your memory still surrounds me Just.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Like the falling snow As the gentle breeze blows.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Through The tears fill my eyes We will never walk
- 6:59Speaker 4: this way again.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I sure miss you by my side Every time the
- 7:08Speaker 3: snow falls I feel you close to me Like a
- 7:17Speaker 3: shadow in the moonlight Or a whisper through the trees
- 7:26Speaker 3: It seems I miss you most of all.
- 7:34Speaker 2: When the snow.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Falls There are times I lose my breath At the.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Mention I pray to God and he gives me peace.
- 7:54Speaker 4: But it will never be the same Cause every time
- 8:02Speaker 4: the snow falls.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I feel you close to me.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Like a shadow in the moonlight.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Or a whisper through the trees.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Most of all When the snow falls Yes, it seems
- 8:36Speaker 4: I miss you Most of all When the snow falls
