- 0:26Speaker 2: Yo Huge show today now Hit. The NFL season is
- 0:30Speaker 2: finally over, and you know there's nothing going on in
- 0:33Speaker 2: the NBA. We the sports media, you can finally focus on.
- 0:37Speaker 1: The topics that actually matter right down.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Finally we can stop talking about useless topics like who
- 0:44Speaker 3: won and lost games?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Like who cares nobody?
- 0:48Speaker 2: And that's why today we're addressing the most serious issue
- 0:52Speaker 2: facing sports and frankly society right now. Of course, we're
- 0:56Speaker 2: talking about court storting in college basketball.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yep. And don't worry people, we.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Have several simple, easy solutions that's going to solve this
- 1:05Speaker 2: problem once and for all.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We'll take care of it.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but first, a couple show notes a new
- 1:10Speaker 2: addition to our Fusco show merch Store. You can honor
- 1:14Speaker 2: the most iconic duo in sports US with this new
- 1:18Speaker 2: style inspired by the Hit video game NBA JAM but
- 1:22Speaker 2: certainly not copying or infringing on any of that trade.
- 1:25Speaker 1: No, not at all. This is all original.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, visit the merch store by clicking the link in
- 1:30Speaker 2: the description, and also make sure you got to rate
- 1:33Speaker 2: and review the show people.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we do.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Podcasts, do it. We still got a three point nine
- 1:38Speaker 2: rating there for some reason.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah, clearly our podcast got hacked by somebody.
- 1:44Speaker 1: That's the only explanation.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And you know, for our millions of viewers on YouTube,
- 1:48Speaker 2: you're probably noticing that Tony and I were using different
- 1:51Speaker 2: microphones today. Well that's because our idiot producer screwed up
- 1:55Speaker 2: the order. Guy can't even be what what what what?
- 1:59Speaker 4: The order just got the layd. I can't control the shipping.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well I'm going to ship you to Mars.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah you know what else got delayed? Your brain development?
- 2:10Speaker 4: Now?
- 2:10Speaker 2: Shit outs at it? Anyway, stop talking? Yeah, all right,
- 2:14Speaker 2: anyway to today's show. One of our colleagues here at
- 2:16Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio. He's been actually trying to defend courts
- 2:20Speaker 2: on pathetically. Now he wants to come on our show
- 2:23Speaker 2: apparently and argue with us or something.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I don't know what. He's trying to storm our court, Yeah, exactly.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Well, anyway, Doug Gottlieb will be joining us, and you know,
- 2:33Speaker 2: wait until he hears our solutions, Tony. You know he's
- 2:36Speaker 2: going to realize what a terrible job he does, That's
- 2:38Speaker 2: what he's going and he's.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Going to be so jealous of our ideas. Absolutely.
- 2:43Speaker 2: But before all that, it's time for an ad from
- 2:45Speaker 2: our good friends at uber eats.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Do you like eating at home because you're a slob
- 2:50Speaker 1: and don't want to be seen in public. Uber eats
- 2:53Speaker 1: has got you covered, right, Tony. Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 3: In fact, the other day I invited my aunt Marie
- 2:59Speaker 3: and her boyfriend Nuncio out to dinner, but Nunzio said
- 3:02Speaker 3: they were eating at home and I said, ooh, where
- 3:06Speaker 3: are you eating from tonight? And he said from between
- 3:09Speaker 3: your aunt's legs. And actually, you know what, let's just.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Just forget go anyway, go to the lads dot com,
- 3:15Speaker 2: enter the promo code fusco. They get one hundred dollars
- 3:18Speaker 2: off you're a tire meal. Wow, great deal offer its fires.
- 3:21Speaker 2: February twenty eight, twenty twenty four.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Take it mean each Yeah, there you go, all right,
- 3:26Speaker 1: no more delays, Tony.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Time to get into our top story story.
- 3:32Speaker 1: As we told you up Dom.
- 3:33Speaker 2: You know, this is why late February sports talk is
- 3:36Speaker 2: the best type of spoil.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Really.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You know, now that the NFL season is over, we
- 3:41Speaker 2: the sports media, we can finally take time to address
- 3:45Speaker 2: the real major issue like court storming, and we unfortunately
- 3:49Speaker 2: saw this rear its ugly health where you know, after
- 3:53Speaker 2: Duke players Hyo Philipowski appeared to get injured following Duke's
- 3:58Speaker 2: lost to wake Forest when hard of wild and uncontrolled
- 4:02Speaker 2: rioters the court in support of wake Forest victory and Tony,
- 4:07Speaker 2: this is just so troubling, not just for college basketball,
- 4:11Speaker 2: but for America, Isn't that right?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 4:14Speaker 3: We all know we need to protect our borders, especially
- 4:18Speaker 3: the ones around our basketball courts. If we have open
- 4:21Speaker 3: borders on college basketball courts and we're just letting anyone
- 4:25Speaker 3: cross over, what are our enemies gonna say? If you're
- 4:29Speaker 3: putin and you're at home watching these games, you're like,
- 4:32Speaker 3: let's attack America right now. Their borders are weak and insecure.
- 4:37Speaker 3: If we can't stop college students, then we can't stop anybody.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Just great political perspectives that, Tony, and you know there
- 4:44Speaker 2: are many people across the sports media landscape weighing in here,
- 4:49Speaker 2: including ESPN college basketball analysts Jay Billis Yes said he
- 4:53Speaker 2: would like to see students arrested for great storming. And
- 4:57Speaker 2: you know, some people say this is a gregious and gun,
- 5:00Speaker 2: it's the dootional, But those people are clearly liberal socialists,
- 5:03Speaker 2: aren't they, Tony?
- 5:04Speaker 3: One hundred percent These students who are storming the courts
- 5:08Speaker 3: are breaking the law. I mean, haven't you heard of
- 5:12Speaker 3: contempt of court? Well, isn't a basketball court a court?
- 5:17Speaker 3: Aren't basketball courts technically part of the United States court system.
- 5:21Speaker 3: We need to teach these young, unruly college criminals to
- 5:25Speaker 3: respect courts of all kinds. If we don't do that,
- 5:30Speaker 3: then now a country and society could easily descend into
- 5:34Speaker 3: total lawless chaos.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Great points all around, Tony.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And you know, we've heard a bunch of big bo
- 5:40Speaker 2: out there trying to come up with ways to stop
- 5:43Speaker 2: court storming, and.
- 5:44Speaker 1: They're all just so terrible.
- 5:45Speaker 2: In fact, Tony, you know, right before this show, we
- 5:48Speaker 2: sat down for what was it, two like three minute minutes,
- 5:51Speaker 2: we came up, yead, we came up with a bunch
- 5:53Speaker 2: of ideas that could stop this in Oura anyway, Tony,
- 5:57Speaker 2: why don't you go ahead and tell him our first idea,
- 6:00Speaker 2: shock collars.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Every student who comes into the arena gets one and
- 6:04Speaker 3: has to wear it, and if they get too close
- 6:07Speaker 3: to the court, b electrocuted. And what's great too, is
- 6:12Speaker 3: this can work in other arenas as well. You know,
- 6:15Speaker 3: you could use the shot collars at the Academy Awards.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You know, if you see Will Smith and he's getting
- 6:22Speaker 3: upset by a joke. Oh, he's walking toward the stage,
- 6:26Speaker 3: what's gonna happen. No problems, crisis averted.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Just such a slam dunk idea right there.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Of course, we do realize, you know, some people might
- 6:38Speaker 2: think that might be a little much, So we did
- 6:39Speaker 2: come up with an alternate idea, right KELLINGTONI.
- 6:42Speaker 1: An electric fence.
- 6:44Speaker 3: You know, right after the final buzzer sounds, the electric
- 6:48Speaker 3: fence goes up and anyone who tries to touch it
- 6:51Speaker 3: gets zapped with thousands of jiggawatts of electricity. We admit,
- 6:55Speaker 3: this is a much kind of gentler way of delivering
- 6:59Speaker 3: potentially lead fell amounts of electricity into people.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Just another home run idea. And you know, Tony, why
- 7:06Speaker 2: you were saying all that. I came up with an idea.
- 7:08Speaker 2: He get that great, let's hear it. Yeah, stink bomb,
- 7:11Speaker 2: all right, you know, game ends, you just drop. It
- 7:14Speaker 2: just comes right down a bomb, just filled with shit
- 7:17Speaker 2: and piss and it just keeps on the court and
- 7:20Speaker 2: everyone's like, whoa, bro, I'm not going over there. It
- 7:23Speaker 2: smells like shitting' piss and you know they probably just
- 7:26Speaker 2: gotta leave the arena.
- 7:27Speaker 3: You're done. That's a great one too. And here's another idea,
- 7:32Speaker 3: magnet shoes. You know, once the buzzer ends, the magnet
- 7:36Speaker 3: floor is activated and everyone's just stuck there, no court storming.
- 7:41Speaker 2: That another such a smart idea that, Tony. And I'm
- 7:45Speaker 2: just going over our list. You've got to to any
- 7:47Speaker 2: others you want.
- 7:48Speaker 1: To bring up there. Yep.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Last one sleeping gas. You know you got all those
- 7:54Speaker 3: air conditioning vents and those arenas well, why not in
- 7:57Speaker 3: the fourth quarter you just start pumping in in a
- 8:00Speaker 3: very mild dose of sleeping gas.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That way, the.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Game ends very quietly, no drama, and everyone goes home
- 8:09Speaker 3: in the morning well rested.
- 8:11Speaker 1: You know, just so.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Many great examples and ideas that Tony target inside.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Which one is best? We know for you out there?
- 8:18Speaker 2: So that's why we're gonna We're gonna see what you'll think.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It's time for the official Fusco Show pull. Question of
- 8:24Speaker 2: the day. What is the best method to prevent court storming?
- 8:29Speaker 2: A shock collars on students, B electric fence, CE, stink
- 8:35Speaker 2: bomb on court, D magnet shoes or E sleeping gas.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Vote now on Twitter by tweeting at the Fusco Show
- 8:44Speaker 2: and we'll reveal the results.
- 8:46Speaker 1: You know at some point.
- 8:47Speaker 4: If we remember to do it.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe we'll probably forget, but who knows.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Anyway, to other news, Awful Announcing, they published a very
- 8:53Speaker 2: important article discussing the dangers of social media and sports news.
- 8:59Speaker 2: You know, scifically fake accounts where people appear to be
- 9:04Speaker 2: inside is delivering news like it's from Adam Schefter or
- 9:07Speaker 2: Adrian Wojanowski and Tony. This is so important for people
- 9:12Speaker 2: to watch out for, isn't it absolutely?
- 9:15Speaker 3: You know, you have to be so careful these days
- 9:18Speaker 3: of people in sports media who are pretending to be
- 9:21Speaker 3: someone they're not. You know, that's why it's so crucial
- 9:24Speaker 3: to make sure you listen to trusted sources like us
- 9:28Speaker 3: at least you know you can take everything we say
- 9:31Speaker 3: at face value.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Just such a sobering message that Tony.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And one final sports media note, longtime NFL writer and
- 9:40Speaker 2: talking head Peter King sanely announced his shocking retirement on
- 9:45Speaker 2: Monday after forty years in the business.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And Tony, you.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Know a lot of people speculating what happened here, but
- 9:51Speaker 2: we can easily see what led to this stunning decision,
- 9:54Speaker 2: can't we.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, all you gotta do is look at what happened
- 9:58Speaker 3: on Monday. Peter King published a column in which he
- 10:01Speaker 3: said he doesn't have a good feeling about the Eagles
- 10:04Speaker 3: in twenty twenty four, and later, in that very same
- 10:07Speaker 3: column he announced his retirement. So it's clear what happened here.
- 10:12Speaker 3: He had a take that was so impossibly bad that
- 10:16Speaker 3: when he read it back to himself, he was like,
- 10:18Speaker 3: oh my god, I need to retire.
- 10:21Speaker 2: That has to be the only explanation that Dony, So
- 10:24Speaker 2: just the final tip of the gap to beat it ging.
- 10:27Speaker 1: For knowing a good job by dang it up.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But on that note, someone who should have hung it
- 10:33Speaker 2: up a long time ago and probably was hung up.
- 10:36Speaker 2: And anyway, let's just bring him on the Fusco Satellite network.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Fusco Satellite Net the world.
- 10:43Speaker 2: All right, This guy host the Doug Gottlieb Show on
- 10:47Speaker 2: our broadcast partner, Fox Sports Radio, and how they're still
- 10:50Speaker 2: in business with him after this week.
- 10:52Speaker 1: We have no clue how that's how I did.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It's one of these fools out there actually defending court
- 10:58Speaker 2: storming in college basket. Well, this fight a player being
- 11:02Speaker 2: unjustly injured by a bunch of lawless rioters. And no
- 11:07Speaker 2: surprise he feels this way given he lives in California,
- 11:11Speaker 2: liberal lawlessness there. Anyway, let's get him in here. Doug
- 11:14Speaker 2: gottlie welcome back to Mesa, to the show.
- 11:17Speaker 5: I have to do this, right, No, I have to. Contractually,
- 11:20Speaker 5: I'm going to have to.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I'm hey, hey, you know I mean in California, work
- 11:25Speaker 2: is optional.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We get that, so this might be.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Hard for your exact Sunshine not optional, Katy, beautiful, Sunset's
- 11:33Speaker 6: not optional.
- 11:34Speaker 2: We're gonna sunset. You don't worry, give exactly very soon anyway.
- 11:38Speaker 2: All right, stop trying to run this interview. You're not
- 11:40Speaker 2: the host, that's us.
- 11:41Speaker 1: All right, First question we have for you.
- 11:43Speaker 2: All right, you know we follow the news, we follow
- 11:45Speaker 2: you people in California, and how you think so storming.
- 11:48Speaker 1: The Capitol Building Apparently that's not okay.
- 11:51Speaker 5: That's okay storming.
- 11:52Speaker 2: A basketball court and injured, it's okay. Innocent people, Well
- 11:57Speaker 2: that's okay and wins your support. So explain how that
- 12:01Speaker 2: makes any sense?
- 12:03Speaker 5: Well?
- 12:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I don't know if you want to
- 12:05Speaker 6: storm a basketball court on January seventh, right, But outside of.
- 12:09Speaker 2: That, well, nobody watches college basketball on January seventh.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But ok, go ahead.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I actually think you make a good point.
- 12:16Speaker 6: It's the probably the only good point you're going to
- 12:18Speaker 6: make on your podcast, which is no one watches the
- 12:23Speaker 6: The reason people watch college basketball is not because the
- 12:25Speaker 6: product is better than the NBA. The product's probably not
- 12:28Speaker 6: better than the Gen League. You watch it because it's
- 12:30Speaker 6: college kids. They're wearing your favorite school's name across their chest.
- 12:35Speaker 6: You hear the fight song, and you see the students
- 12:38Speaker 6: and the energy in these buildings, and like, why are
- 12:41Speaker 6: we taking away no celebration supposed to be an upset
- 12:46Speaker 6: when I see one kid gets bummed, I'm talking here.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I watch that and people around the globe watching that,
- 12:53Speaker 2: and they say nothing but lawlessness, exactly one thing we
- 12:57Speaker 2: kind of agree on. We need to protect our borders,
- 13:00Speaker 2: don't wait, Yeah, well what about the borders around the basketball,
- 13:03Speaker 2: about basketball court board. Now let's say you're putin at
- 13:06Speaker 2: home watching all that energy you talk about.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you look at that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: You think, let's at doc America right now, right now,
- 13:13Speaker 2: invasion stopped.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Why that looks like we got a good defending force.
- 13:18Speaker 6: That those are all they're all military coll of age.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Look you actually again, you.
- 13:23Speaker 7: Do bring them a good point to where where we
- 13:26Speaker 7: have to talk about protecting the borders, like this is
- 13:28Speaker 7: not that hard to have security to make sure the
- 13:31Speaker 7: twelve scholarship athletes and the coaching staff gets off the
- 13:34Speaker 7: court safely.
- 13:35Speaker 5: That that's really the breakdown in Winston Salem.
- 13:37Speaker 6: There were like ten court stormings last weekend, last week
- 13:40Speaker 6: and weekend, and only one did Klasky get bumped into.
- 13:45Speaker 6: It was a breakdown in security, right, which is, by
- 13:47Speaker 6: the way, the same thing we're talking about down in
- 13:50Speaker 6: Texas and in California and Arizona. It's not about it's
- 13:53Speaker 6: not about the border, it's about.
- 13:55Speaker 5: The securing that book. You just got to secure these
- 13:57Speaker 5: guys got to protect them. He tell us, what.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Do they do? They know?
- 14:02Speaker 2: You don't worry on the security guards. You arm yourself.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Gilbert Arenas No. When he was you look at Gilbert
- 14:09Speaker 2: John Marine, he was bringing.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Guns to the stadium.
- 14:12Speaker 2: People said, no, no, no, John Moran, you know walking
- 14:14Speaker 2: around Memphis with you got to.
- 14:16Speaker 6: Arm these g No, no, no, we're not doing that.
- 14:20Speaker 6: We're not armoring basketball players while they're running up and
- 14:23Speaker 6: down the court.
- 14:23Speaker 2: No, no, you want to, you want to put them
- 14:26Speaker 2: in Ham's way. Well, all right, let's hear about you.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You were a college basketball player.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Some yep, Oklahoma stadious.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yes, I assume given that you were on a bunch
- 14:36Speaker 2: of crappy teams, you were never involved in a court.
- 14:38Speaker 6: We were not a crappy team. We're not a crapy
- 14:40Speaker 6: team playing three NCAM the elate eight.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Well, all right, we never storm.
- 14:45Speaker 6: We were not We were not duke, so we didn't
- 14:47Speaker 6: have the court storm. There was one court storming during
- 14:50Speaker 6: my time in still Water. We beat Oklahoma my sophomore year.
- 14:54Speaker 6: Good buddy of mine, Brian mont Noddy. He got carried
- 14:56Speaker 6: off the court because he wasn't playing a bunch, but
- 14:58Speaker 6: he made a game winning free throws like was he was.
- 15:01Speaker 3: He afraid of being injured in the melee. That's why
- 15:03Speaker 3: they carried him off the court.
- 15:05Speaker 5: No, no, it's the greatest moment of the sporting life.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Sad for him.
- 15:09Speaker 6: So, no, it's awesome. Have you ever got you guys?
- 15:12Speaker 6: Ever been you guys? Ever been to a court stormy
- 15:14Speaker 6: like a real one like we have.
- 15:17Speaker 1: But we held everybody back. We were staying where you
- 15:20Speaker 1: are crowd control.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Just for the record, the reason Alan Iverson was never
- 15:26Speaker 2: injured at Georgetown is because we personally drove down there
- 15:29Speaker 2: and defended people, defended them. It was like that movie
- 15:33Speaker 2: three hundred. Yeah, we stopped everybody, stay where you are.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Let me ask you when you were when you were
- 15:38Speaker 2: involved in that court storming. How how quickly did you
- 15:42Speaker 2: piss your parents when you saw all these people who
- 15:44Speaker 2: were bigger than you coming at you.
- 15:48Speaker 6: Well, I am small for a basket player, not small
- 15:51Speaker 6: in real life, right, So I'm roughly six feet tall,
- 15:54Speaker 6: So it's not like I was concerned and I concerned.
- 15:59Speaker 6: And again, remember during the court storming, we were actually
- 16:02Speaker 6: the home team and they were storming for us.
- 16:04Speaker 5: So I haven't been involved in the businey one. I'm
- 16:07Speaker 5: sure that.
- 16:07Speaker 6: I'm sure a bunch of people running out of stands
- 16:09Speaker 6: is a little bit alarming, right, especially not expecting but
- 16:12Speaker 6: this is where it's not that hard. Higher quality security people.
- 16:16Speaker 6: If they can't secure the court, you know what games,
- 16:18Speaker 6: there's gonna be a court storming.
- 16:19Speaker 5: It's not that hard, it's not tucky.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 2: In fact, we have some very simple ideas that we're
- 16:25Speaker 2: gonna present.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Doug.
- 16:27Speaker 2: You know when you hear these, you're gonna you're gonna
- 16:34Speaker 2: you're in a hurry. I mean tell that to your audience.
- 16:37Speaker 2: You do three out of the day radio. Yeah, right
- 16:42Speaker 2: here we go. Idea Number one's gonna.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Kick yourself, Doug.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Number one, Tony, tell them you put shot collars on
- 16:49Speaker 2: all the students as soon as they walk in this way,
- 16:52Speaker 2: when they start running towards the court, and then no,
- 16:56Speaker 2: no more storming.
- 16:58Speaker 6: It's an interesting concept, having a having lived on the
