- 0:11Speaker 1: The show starts at te like eight seven six, Hi
- 0:24Speaker 1: all three two FN go.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, and to all those that celebrate,
- 0:40Speaker 3: I want to wish you got a merry Christmas. Merry Christmas,
- 0:45Speaker 3: and welcome to the Crew podcast, y'all. I was in transition.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Sorry for running late, but yet I am yet here here.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I pressed my because I said that I was going
- 0:59Speaker 3: to do a show on today. Wanted to keep Simone's
- 1:05Speaker 3: show going. Tonight would have been Simone's show. But of
- 1:09Speaker 3: course we know that Simone is going through some things
- 1:12Speaker 3: right now with her health and want to send a
- 1:17Speaker 3: shout out to her. Continue to keep God first and
- 1:23Speaker 3: continue to press Know that your sisters are over here
- 1:26Speaker 3: praying for you and we are lifting you up. But
- 1:30Speaker 3: I just wanted to stop by tonight. Wanted to just
- 1:35Speaker 3: be present, just wanted to you know, never know who
- 1:38Speaker 3: may be tuning in, So I wanted to show up
- 1:41Speaker 3: on tonight tonight. I have a guests with me. We
- 1:47Speaker 3: have y'all know that I advocate a lot for those
- 1:51Speaker 3: that have been wrongfully or overly incarcerated. Tonight I have
- 1:54Speaker 3: an opportunity to have one of our family. I'm just
- 2:00Speaker 3: gonna go ahead and say family, because Cornell has truly
- 2:03Speaker 3: become family to me. Just hearing his case, spending time
- 2:10Speaker 3: with him, having conversations with him, understanding the ins and
- 2:15Speaker 3: outs of what this man has endured. It has truly
- 2:21Speaker 3: given me a heart and a passion for those that
- 2:26Speaker 3: have been wrongfully and overly incarcerated. And I tell you
- 2:30Speaker 3: when I prayed and God said Shannette, I'll tell you
- 2:32Speaker 3: that she was definitely a answered prayer because she is
- 2:37Speaker 3: definitely what I was praying for for this network, someone
- 2:42Speaker 3: to to be able to help me help those that
- 2:46Speaker 3: are incarcerated, wrongfully, overly incarcerated, unlawfully incarcerated, whatever, whatever you
- 2:52Speaker 3: want to give to it. But thank you, Cheanette for
- 2:55Speaker 3: all that you do. I'm gonna move away tonight and
- 3:00Speaker 3: and let Cornell share just a little bit. I want
- 3:06Speaker 3: him to talk about what life has been like over
- 3:10Speaker 3: these last thirty four years during holiday seasons and you know,
- 3:16Speaker 3: having to deal with being away from his family. And
- 3:22Speaker 3: I really want to focus on the mental aspect because
- 3:26Speaker 3: I listened to Chanette's show on Monday, and I was
- 3:32Speaker 3: listening to you guys have the conversation with your guests
- 3:36Speaker 3: and y'all were talking about a lot of mental health issues.
- 3:40Speaker 3: So I really want to know, you know, really, how
- 3:45Speaker 3: how does one deal with their mental especially when they
- 3:50Speaker 3: have been incarcerated. As long as you have wrongfully incarcerated,
- 3:55Speaker 3: you know that, I know that takes a toll on you.
- 3:58Speaker 3: So if you would please share with me.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Okay, well, thank you, ma'am for having me on tonight.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And I guess maam. Of course, when one deal with
- 4:12Speaker 2: prison life, you know, it takes a lot to have
- 4:15Speaker 2: to learn, to have to adjust to the prison life
- 4:18Speaker 2: because when one entered the prison life, you know you
- 4:20Speaker 2: have to abide by so many rules and regulations, and
- 4:24Speaker 2: you know you're dealing with people from all walks of life.
- 4:27Speaker 2: So with that being said, you're dealing with different mentalenty
- 4:30Speaker 2: for people and dealing with hatred to getting with people
- 4:34Speaker 2: who have no issues of platitude problem you know, mood
- 4:37Speaker 2: slangs and stuff like that. So you know, when you
- 4:41Speaker 2: in prison, all surrounded by a bunch of people like this,
- 4:44Speaker 2: you have to learn how to adjust to where you
- 4:47Speaker 2: can make life uncomfortable for yourself being incarcerated. So now
- 4:52Speaker 2: with that being said, yes, you know, doing the holidays,
- 4:56Speaker 2: see since you know it can be dramatic, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 2: being incarcerated away from fact, the members their family and
- 5:01Speaker 2: stuff like that. So being incarcerated, you have to allow
- 5:05Speaker 2: yourself to open up and allow other individuals to become
- 5:08Speaker 2: your family, you know, and to become your family people
- 5:12Speaker 2: that's incarcerated to become your family because you know, believe
- 5:17Speaker 2: it or now, you can meet some good people being incarcerated,
- 5:20Speaker 2: you know, and a lot of these people are very smart.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So you know, we learn from each other, we take
- 5:25Speaker 2: from each other, you know, the good, the bad and
- 5:27Speaker 2: ugly whatever. So you know, with that being said, yes, ma'am,
- 5:31Speaker 2: you know, uh, being incarcerated man can take a toad
- 5:34Speaker 2: on an individual because you know, because the most part
- 5:37Speaker 2: of a lot of guys are struggling, you know, not
- 5:40Speaker 2: being at home that they love ones, and you know
- 5:42Speaker 2: they turn the drugs and alcohol and feels and stuff
- 5:46Speaker 2: like that trying to extep you know, the reality of
- 5:50Speaker 2: being away from family members.
- 5:54Speaker 3: How have you because I know you have been incarcerated
- 5:59Speaker 3: for well over twenty five years, which is normally the
- 6:03Speaker 3: what normally the expand of you know, normally the time
- 6:07Speaker 3: that a lot of people spend and then they come home.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But you have spent over twenty five You have spent
- 6:15Speaker 3: over thirty years behind prison. Walk What has that personally
- 6:21Speaker 3: done to you? What have that done to the cornell
- 6:26Speaker 3: that before prison? What even you can share the good,
- 6:32Speaker 3: the bad, the ugly. You know, I want people to
- 6:35Speaker 3: truly see, you know, if there have been things that
- 6:38Speaker 3: you know, this prison experience have taught you in a
- 6:43Speaker 3: good way, I want you to share that, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 3: I want people to understand and be able to relate
- 6:50Speaker 3: to exactly what you have experienced. And the bad.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Okay, well you know I have what we fratify as
- 7:02Speaker 2: a reputation. You know, some guys got good reputation. Some
- 7:06Speaker 2: guys are bad reputation. So I don't come from you know,
- 7:09Speaker 2: no poverty neighborhoods, but against the mentality, so I come
- 7:12Speaker 2: from suburban neighborhoods. But either way, ma'am, you know, when
- 7:16Speaker 2: you come in, you have to harden yourself because if
- 7:19Speaker 2: you don't, ma'am, people will take advantage of you're in
- 7:22Speaker 2: this prison system. And with that, man said me myself.
- 7:26Speaker 2: You know, I have been the prison before, so I
- 7:28Speaker 2: knew what to expect. This time in prison, you know,
- 7:32Speaker 2: because I carry myself kind away to where I'm a
- 7:35Speaker 2: poverty person all the time. You know, I try to
- 7:38Speaker 2: not have no mood trams with nobody, but all at
- 7:40Speaker 2: the same time, I'm a very dangerous person. Why because
- 7:43Speaker 2: if somebody next with me, I have to convert back
- 7:45Speaker 2: to who I used to do, and I try not
- 7:48Speaker 2: to do that. To what I do now. Is the
- 7:51Speaker 2: fact that I try to, you know, make my peace
- 7:52Speaker 2: to God and make my peace with people. You know,
- 7:56Speaker 2: and you know a lot of people respect me for
- 7:58Speaker 2: who I am because you know, like I said, me
- 8:00Speaker 2: myself knowing that I was wrong the convicted, I have
- 8:03Speaker 2: to come down here and allow myself to learn about
- 8:07Speaker 2: my situation. And then the process is a lot of
- 8:10Speaker 2: people that are dealing with the same situation. So I
- 8:13Speaker 2: was able to you know, help them in order to
- 8:17Speaker 2: show them the things that I was learning, and a
- 8:19Speaker 2: lot of form them so you know, when of course
- 8:22Speaker 2: they like this landman, was a lot that I have
- 8:23Speaker 2: to take form, you know, learning how to you know
- 8:26Speaker 2: fight in prison, you know, with the dangers of you know,
- 8:29Speaker 2: shanks and people you know, having fights in the day room,
- 8:32Speaker 2: riots in the their room, game and talent and stuff
- 8:35Speaker 2: like that. So you know that's the bad part about it.
- 8:38Speaker 2: But the good signe of it is that you know,
- 8:39Speaker 2: I have to also learn how to go to church
- 8:42Speaker 2: and learn about God and to learn to be at
- 8:44Speaker 2: peace with myself because that's what I do in prison. Rand, So.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Can you share some of the things that you do
- 8:56Speaker 3: that keep you positive? What are some things that you
- 9:00Speaker 3: have adapted to because see, a lot of people they
- 9:05Speaker 3: don't learn to adapt. You know, I've come to realize
- 9:09Speaker 3: that a lot of people, you know, we fail because
- 9:14Speaker 3: we don't learn to adapt. So what are some things
- 9:17Speaker 3: that you have learned to adapt with that has helped
- 9:22Speaker 3: you on this journey? Because remember, you know this is
- 9:26Speaker 3: not just ten fifteen years. You you've done over thirty
- 9:30Speaker 3: years behind prison walls. So how have you adapted?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Okay, Well, you know every day is a very challenging
- 9:40Speaker 2: day for the most part. So you know, when a
- 9:43Speaker 2: person wait up in the morning, you know your dad
- 9:45Speaker 2: really already made. But for the most part too, you know,
- 9:49Speaker 2: you have to learn how to adjust because every second
- 9:53Speaker 2: of a value or danger a second everything can change
- 9:55Speaker 2: with them. So me myself, you know, I had to
- 10:00Speaker 2: love of us to be able to you know, put
- 10:02Speaker 2: God in my life. You know why, because I lose
- 10:06Speaker 2: the old corner Hell as opposed to the corner and
- 10:08Speaker 2: who I needed it to be in order to survive
- 10:11Speaker 2: in the SIP system. So, you know, going to church,
- 10:14Speaker 2: you know, I learned how to you know, like I said, again,
- 10:16Speaker 2: be at peace and learn more about God than none
- 10:18Speaker 2: about you know what I had to do as far
- 10:20Speaker 2: as to walk this journey to make myself a better
- 10:23Speaker 2: person and to be good with people. So I'm a
- 10:26Speaker 2: people's person now, why because the fact that I lunged
- 10:30Speaker 2: to the spirit of God how to be that person
- 10:33Speaker 2: that everybody can like it. So, you know, like I say, man,
- 10:36Speaker 2: I learn how to do legal work. You know what
- 10:38Speaker 2: I'm saying. The people that you know need to hope.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I give that hope. I help the mind if I can't.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You know, I've come to a lot of people get
- 10:45Speaker 2: out of prison. God'll be wondering, why come I can't
- 10:48Speaker 2: give myself out of prison. Well, ma'am, I don't have
- 10:52Speaker 2: that answer to that question. And man, God got the
- 10:54Speaker 2: answer to that question. Then I keep pressing on because
- 10:58Speaker 2: I know God has shown pay on me and God
- 11:00Speaker 2: has made me have to be a better person than
- 11:03Speaker 2: who I used to be because men, believe it or not,
- 11:06Speaker 2: I run my own facility, a five thousand man unit
- 11:09Speaker 2: in the printing system. I can call the rider at
- 11:11Speaker 2: the drop of a din. All I had to do
- 11:13Speaker 2: was say it, and it was gonna happen. But I
- 11:16Speaker 2: knew that that's a lot of me to cause a
- 11:18Speaker 2: lot of people to get hurt, just because of you
- 11:20Speaker 2: know who I used to be. So with that thing
- 11:23Speaker 2: sitting in my blood, holler, you know, it's just to
- 11:25Speaker 2: life through you know, the spirit of God and through
- 11:28Speaker 2: who I know I can be.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So a day like this, what would your normal normal
- 11:38Speaker 3: day be for like holidays? How does a facility operate
- 11:44Speaker 3: to recognize these holidays for you guys?
- 11:49Speaker 2: Okay, Well, it's a thing where everybody's expecting to have
- 11:55Speaker 2: a good deal man, and everybody's supposed to be in
- 11:58Speaker 2: good spirits where hand makes get together. Then they'll put
- 12:00Speaker 2: a spread on the table or put food on the table,
- 12:03Speaker 2: and everybody will get together in there, eat and stuff
- 12:07Speaker 2: like enjoy themself or listen to music and play Domino's
- 12:10Speaker 2: and cars to look at TV and stuff like that.
- 12:13Speaker 2: So for the most part, manmo on the daylight, just
- 12:15Speaker 2: saying everybody's supposed to be a good spirit, but still
- 12:19Speaker 2: you have people that's suffering from mental issues, so you
- 12:22Speaker 2: know another one, you know, not being able to see
- 12:25Speaker 2: the family, not being able to be at home, and
- 12:27Speaker 2: you know stuff like that. So any visuals have a
- 12:31Speaker 2: way of being drunk in the penitentiary or using drugs
- 12:34Speaker 2: in the centry. But either way that can change an
- 12:37Speaker 2: attitude and at the top of the dame something can happen.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Everybody who's just got through eating, now we're killing each other.
- 12:45Speaker 2: So you know, that's the danger. You know, some of
- 12:48Speaker 2: the negative aspects of being in prison, you know during
- 12:51Speaker 2: the holidays, so everybody got to try to get along.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And that's what older guys like myself we try to do.
- 12:57Speaker 2: We try to keep the peace in the prison system
- 13:00Speaker 2: because we know how it can turn into a death
- 13:03Speaker 2: storm just that bass language. So that's what I'm dealing
- 13:06Speaker 2: with it right now as we speak. Because of the
- 13:10Speaker 2: TV situation, guys want to fight about kvs and stuff
- 13:13Speaker 2: like that. So it takes God like myself to try
- 13:16Speaker 2: to calm these guys down and let them know that's
- 13:18Speaker 2: not our TV. We didn't buy a TV, so why
- 13:21Speaker 2: are we gonna keep each telling about a TV? But
- 13:24Speaker 2: this is the thing. We have to try to make
- 13:26Speaker 2: sure that everybody can get along, you know, to keep
- 13:28Speaker 2: things like that from happening. So oh, a day like
- 13:31Speaker 2: this now for the most part, everybody's getting along and
- 13:33Speaker 2: looking at TV wow, enjoying itself.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Wow. And I know it's been a long journey, but
- 13:42Speaker 3: we know and we are praying that, you know, God
- 13:46Speaker 3: will open that door for you. You know, man, have man
- 13:50Speaker 3: have given you a parole? They they have actually given
- 13:57Speaker 3: you a parole, but they will not move forward with dates.
- 14:02Speaker 3: They will not move forward with the different things you know,
- 14:05Speaker 3: and and it's it just it saddens me. But during
- 14:09Speaker 3: this holiday season, knowing that you well into your program
- 14:17Speaker 3: two months now, how has that affected you? And and
- 14:23Speaker 3: and and staying positive because you do so much. I
- 14:28Speaker 3: listen to the things that you have done for other
- 14:32Speaker 3: people that are incarcerated, you know, the individuals that depend
- 14:37Speaker 3: on you for their legal work and different things that
- 14:41Speaker 3: you do. What if what keeps you grounded and in
- 14:51Speaker 3: ace too? Want to help somebody else when yet you're
- 14:56Speaker 3: going through When yet these people have given you a
- 14:58Speaker 3: parole date, they've given you an FI six For those
- 15:03Speaker 3: that don't know what an FI six is, it is.
- 15:06Speaker 3: They have granted him parole upon completion of a program.
- 15:11Speaker 3: It is supposed to be a six month program. So
- 15:15Speaker 3: the thing is, why is he not in the program?
- 15:19Speaker 3: Here it is two months after the program, and yet
- 15:23Speaker 3: he's yet to be moved to the program. I do
- 15:27Speaker 3: have a question from Schanett. She say, will it be
- 15:32Speaker 3: hard for you to adapt when you are released from prison?
- 15:37Speaker 3: And that is probably a question that a lot of
- 15:39Speaker 3: people have about individuals that have been incarcerated and been
- 15:43Speaker 3: incarcerated for as long as you have been incarcerated, because
- 15:47Speaker 3: a lot of people on the outside we hear a
- 15:50Speaker 3: lot of things that happen in the prison goes on
- 15:52Speaker 3: in the prison. So share with us. You've been away
- 15:58Speaker 3: from society for over thirty years. You know that you
- 16:05Speaker 3: know everything has evolved, things have a lot of the
- 16:10Speaker 3: things that you may have been a customed to. It
- 16:17Speaker 3: is not the norm anymore. Like we have advanced in
- 16:22Speaker 3: in in telephones, computers, a lot of different things that
- 16:29Speaker 3: you may not be customed to. So how will do
- 16:33Speaker 3: you have a plan for adapting? And how have you
- 16:36Speaker 3: set your mindset so that you can adapt.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Okay, that's a good question, because I got to say
- 16:46Speaker 2: since then in coorse orated, now I may bow them
- 16:48Speaker 2: myself to come down here in the line about my situation,
- 16:51Speaker 2: you know, because I've been through it before, so you know,
- 16:54Speaker 2: le systems all I've ever done, so practically I know
- 16:57Speaker 2: about the legal system, legal system, know about legal system.
- 17:01Speaker 2: So with that, Dan said, now you know I was
- 17:03Speaker 2: able to be blessed by God to meet you with
- 17:06Speaker 2: what I do. I already am a legal scholar really,
- 17:10Speaker 2: but I ended up meeting you. It was a podcast
- 17:14Speaker 2: host and you know, to say that you little help people,
- 17:17Speaker 2: and when I meant you, ma'am, I learned that there
- 17:19Speaker 2: was a whole other side tonight. You know, people needed
- 17:23Speaker 2: a voice. Because of that, you know, me becoming friends
- 17:26Speaker 2: with you and the Core podcast and the host of
- 17:29Speaker 2: the Crew podcast and learning about what y'all do on
- 17:31Speaker 2: the other side. I never realized how powerful your voice
- 17:36Speaker 2: was I could be, So then I realized how powerful
- 17:40Speaker 2: my voice was and what I do. So because of that,
- 17:43Speaker 2: I became an active people criminal justice report And what
- 17:47Speaker 2: that man said, ma'am, like I said, I've learned a
- 17:49Speaker 2: lot in the past year. So I've learned a lot.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So now I've become a partner of the true podcast
- 17:55Speaker 2: of Spying Up a magazine, and now I have become
- 17:58Speaker 2: a co host of Let's Talk About It. So what
- 18:01Speaker 2: that man said, that show was a very very positive,
- 18:04Speaker 2: positive to UH syndicated show where people can come on
- 18:08Speaker 2: and tell their story. And like I say, we've done
- 18:11Speaker 2: great because we've allowed people to come on and tell
- 18:13Speaker 2: their stories and a positive you know, get nothing to
- 18:16Speaker 2: get true to everything. But I've learned a lot. And
- 18:20Speaker 2: with that man said, I don't want to say thank
- 18:21Speaker 2: you for everything that I've taught me and Janette, thank
- 18:25Speaker 2: you for everything you taught me. And yet upon our release,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I know exactly what I want to do. I want
- 18:32Speaker 2: to make sure that I say a positive and an
- 18:36Speaker 2: advocate for criminal justice reform. And that is what I
- 18:39Speaker 2: am going to do, but not just you know, the adults,
- 18:42Speaker 2: but the juvenile system as well. Now to be an advocate.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Wow, Well, I know today is Christmas and I know
- 18:56Speaker 3: that a lot of people maybe going through maybe missing
- 19:03Speaker 3: their families. Some people may have not had visits since
- 19:08Speaker 3: they prison, because I hear it often. You know people
- 19:13Speaker 3: they they weigh and they family forget about them that
- 19:19Speaker 3: saying out of sight, out of mind. It's real and
- 19:24Speaker 3: a lot of people have adapted to, you know, what
- 19:30Speaker 3: is going on in prison. They have come accustomed to,
- 19:34Speaker 3: you know, adapting to what is happening around them. I
- 19:40Speaker 3: understand that there have been some serious drug issues within
- 19:45Speaker 3: the prison system. I wrote an article inside of Aspiring
- 19:50Speaker 3: Out magazine. We were talking about the drugs and the
- 19:55Speaker 3: drug crises within the prison system. Could you elaborate rate
- 20:00Speaker 3: on that just a little bit, because I have a
- 20:04Speaker 3: serious issue with a lot of what they do concerning
- 20:13Speaker 3: how they handle the drug crisis that's going on within
- 20:18Speaker 3: Texas and a lot of the prison systems, because at
- 20:22Speaker 3: the end of the day, when you look at it,
- 20:24Speaker 3: there's no way if everybody is doing their job within
- 20:29Speaker 3: the prison system, if the guards are doing their jobs,
- 20:33Speaker 3: from the least of them to the greatest of them,
- 20:35Speaker 3: if they're doing their job, there shouldn't be drugs inside
- 20:38Speaker 3: of the prison system because these prisoners they cannot go out,
- 20:43Speaker 3: they don't go out, they can't go out and buy it.
- 20:45Speaker 3: They can't go out and hit up the drug dealer.
- 20:49Speaker 3: So someone is bringing it in. I often hear them
- 20:53Speaker 3: saying that they're on lockdown and what they're doing. But
- 20:58Speaker 3: when you know that is having a tomb fit, Oh
- 21:03Speaker 3: they have a tone fit, they send them to medical,
- 21:06Speaker 3: then they bring them back. They okay, But the rate
- 21:09Speaker 3: that these people are dropping dead, you know, I'm hearing
- 21:13Speaker 3: every other day. I'm in a couple of groups that
- 21:17Speaker 3: are inside. They have loved ones inside of TDCJ, and
- 21:22Speaker 3: you are constantly seeing individuals saying, well, somebody died last night.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Somebody died. That you hear about what happeneding so from
- 21:31Speaker 3: someone from the inside, because a lot of us we
- 21:34Speaker 3: get secondhand information, but tonight we want to hear it
- 21:39Speaker 3: from someone that is living there, someone that is in
- 21:42Speaker 3: the midst of this, because they'll tell us that this
- 21:45Speaker 3: is not so, this is not happening. You know, they'll
- 21:48Speaker 3: give us different statistics. So for someone that is going
- 21:54Speaker 3: through this, that sees it on a daily basis, that
- 21:57Speaker 3: have witnessed people, you know, having these fits and and
- 22:02Speaker 3: doing this, what told does that have on your mental
- 22:07Speaker 3: Because dealing with people that are going through this and
- 22:11Speaker 3: having to deal with this every day, how does that
- 22:14Speaker 3: affect you?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Okay, ma'am, that's a good question, man, I'm okay. I
- 22:20Speaker 2: mean myself personally. I don't use drugs, man, I don't
- 22:22Speaker 2: drink on users us and don't take pills. Why because
- 22:26Speaker 2: in the critical system like this, man, that's not a
- 22:28Speaker 2: place to even be thinking about nothing like that, you know.
- 22:31Speaker 2: But inside of the systems around it has turned into
- 22:35Speaker 2: a positive I mean a pit of serious EPI entity
- 22:38Speaker 2: where the whole prison system around is infested with Druggs
- 22:41Speaker 2: clan and I mean have been turned into a hobby
- 22:44Speaker 2: now for most kids because they see it as just
- 22:46Speaker 2: something to do or on recreational data. But it's getting
- 22:50Speaker 2: more powerful than posing as you know, the day go by,
- 22:54Speaker 2: because they studies brand this stuff with something that's you know,
- 22:58Speaker 2: and all types of different types of chemicals. And these
- 23:01Speaker 2: kids are not taking it as serious as they need
- 23:03Speaker 2: to be. They smoking and doing whatever they do to
- 23:06Speaker 2: it now and automatically, I stay hard and these people
- 23:10Speaker 2: are dying. So now when these kids are slumping over
- 23:12Speaker 2: in their their rooms and stuff like that, all the
- 23:14Speaker 2: people can do is so get them, take them to
- 23:16Speaker 2: thenother goal, check them out, see if they you know,
- 23:18Speaker 2: come you have one. They do, They send them back
- 23:20Speaker 2: to their house and let them just sit back and
- 23:22Speaker 2: you know they threw it again. So this has turned
- 23:25Speaker 2: into an epidemic, man, and our government needs to try
- 23:28Speaker 2: to do better about these people, to try to curb
- 23:30Speaker 2: this epidemic. Man, because this is very serious. People are
- 23:33Speaker 2: dying every day and another guy guy yesterday. So this
- 23:38Speaker 2: is sad, but on my medal estate. Man, it's sad
- 23:41Speaker 2: because I've seen what the pial system can do to
- 23:44Speaker 2: these young kids. It's destroying these kids' lives now. They
- 23:47Speaker 2: don't have no other way to turn because the parole
- 23:49Speaker 2: Board's not helping them, TDC not helping them. I programs
- 23:54Speaker 2: are out there or nothing. So that's what's going on
- 23:56Speaker 2: over there. Man. Well, my bumbler cut off I.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Man, so our carneval is calling back. I asked you, y'ah,
- 24:06Speaker 3: how can we save our kids? How how can we
- 24:09Speaker 3: get our kids back on the right chat Because it
- 24:12Speaker 3: may be too late for some of the grown ups,
- 24:15Speaker 3: It may be too late to reach some of the adults.
- 24:18Speaker 3: It may be too late to reach these these young adults.
- 24:24Speaker 3: How how can we reach these babies before these babies
- 24:29Speaker 3: go down these same roads? You know, we have to
- 24:33Speaker 3: understand and it's gonna take us. See, we fight against
- 24:38Speaker 3: each other because everything we can say, we can say
- 24:43Speaker 3: what we want to say, but the truth I was
- 24:47Speaker 3: having a conversation today, I have to acknowledge this woman,
- 24:52Speaker 3: this this this this amazing spirit. Because this lady, I'll
- 24:58Speaker 3: never forget her as long as I live. Because of
- 25:00Speaker 3: this lady. She corrected me. She made me look at
- 25:08Speaker 3: me like, have you ever had those people that you
- 25:11Speaker 3: know we'll correct you and they correct you in a
- 25:15Speaker 3: way that will make you look at yourself and make
- 25:19Speaker 3: you evaluate and reevaluate and really consider are you doing
- 25:25Speaker 3: right well? I thank God for this woman because it's
- 25:30Speaker 3: been about five six years now that she's come into
- 25:35Speaker 3: my life, and I truly thank God for her. Had
- 25:40Speaker 3: a conversation with her today, actually had an opportunity to
- 25:43Speaker 3: go sit down and chat with her for a while.
- 25:49Speaker 3: We exchanged some gifts, and what she poured into me
- 25:53Speaker 3: today was just so amazing. I cannot wait to you know,
- 26:00Speaker 3: just I can't wait for God to release those things
- 26:02Speaker 3: that He's put in her, because what she poured into
- 26:08Speaker 3: me today, y'all I am. I mean, it lit a
- 26:10Speaker 3: fire under me. When you see people that are going
- 26:14Speaker 3: through and you know what they're going through, and you
- 26:20Speaker 3: see them, you see what they're dealing with. But yet
- 26:24Speaker 3: they have nothing but positive things to say. They have
- 26:27Speaker 3: nothing but but but but but gratitude. They have nothing
- 26:32Speaker 3: but that they're they're grateful. You know, how how can
- 26:38Speaker 3: you not be grateful? You know, I'm sitting here someone
- 26:44Speaker 3: that is, you know, getting these different diagnoses every other
- 26:49Speaker 3: doctor visit, getting different You know when when when when
- 26:54Speaker 3: they tell you, every time you go to the doctor,
- 26:56Speaker 3: they tell you something else is wrong with you, But
- 26:59Speaker 3: yet you still have that's him. I just want to
- 27:06Speaker 3: be like that. I just want that spirit. I just
- 27:08Speaker 3: want to stay up under that annunton y'all. We gotta
- 27:13Speaker 3: do something for our babies. We got to show our
- 27:17Speaker 3: kids that they are important, that they are somebody, that
- 27:21Speaker 3: they don't have to go out and be rappers and
- 27:24Speaker 3: be celebrities and be these different things that society has
- 27:28Speaker 3: said that we should be. See a lot of our
- 27:31Speaker 3: babies end up behind these prison walls, or they end
- 27:35Speaker 3: up in graves because we don't teach them young who
- 27:40Speaker 3: they are and what they are and give them the
- 27:43Speaker 3: love that they need. See if we instill these things
- 27:48Speaker 3: into these babies, God, and then know only that I
- 27:51Speaker 3: went out, I visited my godsister on today and she
- 27:55Speaker 3: had this show play. It was a TV show. I'm
- 27:57Speaker 3: gon go see if I can find it on Netflix.
- 27:59Speaker 3: But it was a young she was a CEO of
- 28:04Speaker 3: a company, was running a company, and she woke up
- 28:08Speaker 3: one day in a child's body and she had a
- 28:14Speaker 3: chance to go back to middle school. She got to
- 28:17Speaker 3: go back to middle school, and she got a chance
- 28:19Speaker 3: to go back, and she got a chance to see
- 28:21Speaker 3: where she was diverted and where she took on this
- 28:27Speaker 3: different mindset and this different mentality. And see, that's what
- 28:31Speaker 3: we need to do. But y'all, we got to put
- 28:34Speaker 3: something in our babies. We can't send our kids to
- 28:36Speaker 3: school and expect the school to teach them because the
- 28:39Speaker 3: school has selled them. We look back over our lives,
- 28:44Speaker 3: look back over those twelve years that you spent in school.
- 28:47Speaker 3: It didn't teach us how to own no business, didn't
- 28:50Speaker 3: teach us how to budget no check book. Then teach
- 28:52Speaker 3: us how to do nothing that would have us living
- 28:56Speaker 3: as entrepreneurs, living as as as legacy builders, but always
- 29:04Speaker 3: living under man and keeping somebody else stream alive. Because
- 29:11Speaker 3: that's what they want us to do. But that's not
- 29:16Speaker 3: what he want from us. Well, y'all, we got Cornell back,
- 29:20Speaker 3: and I just wanted to share that, y'all because that
- 29:23Speaker 3: thing was dropped in my spirit today and it's been
- 29:25Speaker 3: all on me. But we got Cornelled back, So I'm
- 29:29Speaker 3: gonna bring him back on and y'all, I'm not gonna
- 29:31Speaker 3: be on here alone. We're gonna we probably gonna be
- 29:33Speaker 3: about on here about ten more minutes and then we're
- 29:35Speaker 3: gonna get off. I just wanted to jump on and
- 29:39Speaker 3: let you guys know that this is what we do. Holidays.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Don't stop us now, don't stop us this. We are
- 29:47Speaker 3: here to be a voice for the voiceless. We are
- 29:50Speaker 3: here to be the change that we desired to see
- 29:54Speaker 3: in this world. So with that being said, I'm gonna
- 29:59Speaker 3: bring my gas back in the conversation and allow him
- 30:04Speaker 3: to reflect on this day, reflect on this season. The
- 30:07Speaker 3: what does the reason for the season mean to you?
- 30:12Speaker 3: What does that mean to you? We we hear that
- 30:14Speaker 3: all the time, but truly, what does the reason for
- 30:18Speaker 3: the season mean to you? Especially someone that is incarcerated?
- 30:22Speaker 3: What does that mean to you?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Well, ma'am, you know, first of all, God's son and
- 30:28Speaker 2: foremost Noam that has allowed me to learn a lot
- 30:31Speaker 2: about myself, about my ability, about my words, about who
- 30:35Speaker 2: I am. You know I'm at well, I'm going to
- 30:38Speaker 2: get that. So what's not being fitting down you know
- 30:41Speaker 2: my ways, man, is because I want a better way
- 30:44Speaker 2: of life. Now I'm get that better well of life.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Now I have to think to myself how to mylf
- 30:50Speaker 2: around the POC people. Thats gone from what I have
- 30:52Speaker 2: to be able to do that anything negative, ma'am, I
- 30:55Speaker 2: never get that. So now I have to put it
- 30:57Speaker 2: inside of my heartange my heart, because that's what we
- 31:01Speaker 2: have to do. Change our heart, the art to change
- 31:04Speaker 2: our minds. That's what things will work out better for.
- 31:07Speaker 2: So that's what I do. That's my reason, because I
- 31:10Speaker 2: want to be a better person. I want to have
- 31:12Speaker 2: to spend the rest of my life behind balls being
- 31:15Speaker 2: told them when to eat, when to sleep, money shower
- 31:17Speaker 2: by somebody who don't even know me. So what that
- 31:20Speaker 2: thing says, Now I'm getting a lot. Like I said,
- 31:22Speaker 2: this is a very powerful season for me. Why because
- 31:26Speaker 2: I am somebody and I learned that about my thanks
- 31:30Speaker 2: of the power of the spirit of God. So for
- 31:32Speaker 2: anybody who's listening to this podcast tonight, now, thank you
- 31:37Speaker 2: very much. Of all. The second of all, please get involved,
- 31:41Speaker 2: like you say, until your kids lives, teach them the
- 31:44Speaker 2: values that they have, Teach them a better way. A
- 31:47Speaker 2: music is not the way anybody won't we music is
- 31:51Speaker 2: not the way. No sagging pants is not the way.
- 31:56Speaker 2: These kids are better than that. Teach them that they
- 31:58Speaker 2: are better than that. And that's what we have to
- 32:01Speaker 2: do involved to show them that they are somebody. That's
- 32:06Speaker 2: what I have. And I appreciate you, ma'am for allowing
- 32:09Speaker 2: me this opportunity to come on your show tonight, and
- 32:12Speaker 2: thank you missusing that to allow me to be a host.
- 32:15Speaker 2: And let's talk about it. Man, I appreciate the both
- 32:18Speaker 2: of you because I've learned a lot from the both
- 32:20Speaker 2: of you, and yes, I am going to be a potitive,
- 32:23Speaker 2: influential ethic. Let's talk about it and the cool podcast.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Thank you very much, ma'am.
- 32:30Speaker 3: Well, I want to thank everyone for tuning in, everyone
- 32:34Speaker 3: that has chimed in on the conversation. I just just
- 32:39Speaker 3: wanted to be here on tonight sitting in for Simone.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Just wanted to come on and just wish everyone a
- 32:49Speaker 3: happy holiday. I hope that you guys are truly truly
- 32:53Speaker 3: remembering the true reason for the season is it's not
- 32:57Speaker 3: about the gifts. The gifts are great that they it
- 33:00Speaker 3: just it just help remind people of the love that
- 33:04Speaker 3: you have for them. But the true reason for the
- 33:07Speaker 3: season is to truly love on your family. And this
- 33:11Speaker 3: is something that we should be doing on a constant basis.
- 33:14Speaker 3: We should be doing it every day. It shouldn't be
- 33:16Speaker 3: one particular day that we recognize these different things. Yes,
- 33:21Speaker 3: we want to honor Jesus for coming and bearing that
- 33:25Speaker 3: cross for us because he his Because of him, we
- 33:30Speaker 3: are able to do the things.
- 33:31Speaker 2: That we do.
- 33:32Speaker 3: So I thank him. I thank him, I thank him
- 33:35Speaker 3: for the Holy Spirit that leads God and direct us.
- 33:40Speaker 3: So I'm grateful. I am grateful for this podcast and
- 33:44Speaker 3: every single host that counted not robbery to allow their
- 33:49Speaker 3: voices to speak and to be the change that they
- 33:52Speaker 3: desire to see in this world. No, none of us
- 33:55Speaker 3: are perfect, but we strive to be perfect. We strive
- 33:59Speaker 3: to be more like Him daily, to to catch up
- 34:02Speaker 3: with our destiny, to catch up with that that He's
- 34:04Speaker 3: already preordained for us. You know, I truly enjoy sitting
- 34:10Speaker 3: with Meally gross On today and having that time with
- 34:13Speaker 3: her and getting to you know, take in those those
- 34:18Speaker 3: positive nuggets that I can imply, can implement and apply
- 34:23Speaker 3: to my life. You know, I tell people all the
- 34:26Speaker 3: time when we read these scriptures, we're so customed to saying,
- 34:30Speaker 3: let these these these words just not be words, but
- 34:35Speaker 3: let them be life. Let them be life, and not
- 34:40Speaker 3: just be hears of the word, but to be doers
- 34:43Speaker 3: of the word. Y'all, these the scripture to should be
- 34:48Speaker 3: living in our lives. It should be something that we
- 34:52Speaker 3: live by. It should be something that we practice on
- 34:55Speaker 3: a day to day break basis. We we put so
- 34:59Speaker 3: much faith and doctors, and so much faith in so
- 35:03Speaker 3: many other things. But knowing that a doctor only has
- 35:07Speaker 3: a license to practice, he only have a license to practice,
- 35:12Speaker 3: God has given you a license. He's given you a
- 35:15Speaker 3: license to practice the scriptures. So practice the scriptures in
- 35:20Speaker 3: your life, allow them to come life, allow them to
- 35:24Speaker 3: do what He has put them here to do. And
- 35:28Speaker 3: if you apply them to your life, he will reveal
- 35:31Speaker 3: those things. He will reveal those things to you, guys.
- 35:35Speaker 3: So I want to thank you guys for stopping by
- 35:37Speaker 3: and spending your holiday with us on today. Those that
- 35:41Speaker 3: are catching this ass a replay, thank you for catching
- 35:45Speaker 3: it as a replay, if you would just put hashtag
- 35:48Speaker 3: replay in the comment section so that I know and
- 35:52Speaker 3: so that I can recognize you for your support, I truly,
- 35:55Speaker 3: truly appreciate everyone for tuning in and supporting the podcasts.
