- 1:44Speaker 5: respect to my buddy Dana, when I texted him the
- 1:47Speaker 5: night before, which I think we had I think we
- 1:49Speaker 5: had a schedule for Tuesday, and I texted him the
- 1:52Speaker 5: night before and I said something like you ready to
- 1:55Speaker 5: go for tomorrow whatever? And he responded with something that
- 1:58Speaker 5: sounded a little bit like Body Tyler doing total Eclipse
- 2:02Speaker 5: of the heart. And I said, Okay, maybe maybe this
- 2:04Speaker 5: isn't such a good idea to have you in. So
- 2:07Speaker 5: he's talked to him last night. He's got several things

- 2:31Speaker 5: of the sponsors of our show to just tell us
- 2:33Speaker 5: what's going on. Within one of those you hear me
- 2:35Speaker 5: talking about him every morning, the folks with Fresh Air filters.
- 2:38Speaker 5: John Lovejoy is with fresh Air Filters and he joins us, Now,
- 2:41Speaker 5: how you doing man? Hey Dave? How are you? And
- 2:43Speaker 5: I am doing fine. You've been coming on the show.
- 2:47Speaker 5: You know you're one of the Meeks family of businesses
- 2:50Speaker 5: and you kind of rotate, you know, you guys, I
- 2:52Speaker 5: have you enriched the real tron and folks we Meeks
- 2:55Speaker 5: as well. But for those who may have not heard
- 2:57Speaker 5: you on the air before explain exactly what fresh air
- 3:00Speaker 5: is and what it does.
- 3:02Speaker 6: We are an air filter changing service. We come out
- 3:06Speaker 6: and build custom filter frames for your HVAC filter that
- 3:10Speaker 6: are healthier for your HVAC unit. Put in a filter
- 3:14Speaker 6: that's better quality filter inside that frame, and then that
- 3:18Speaker 6: gives you healthier air on the inside as well, and
- 3:21Speaker 6: then we come out on a regular basis and change
- 3:23Speaker 6: that for you so you never have to remember when
- 3:25Speaker 6: it's time to change your air filter, because we know
- 3:28Speaker 6: it's one of those out of sight, out of mind things.
- 3:30Speaker 5: So you put this on some kind of a rotating
- 3:31Speaker 5: I mean, some sort of a system that just says, hey,
- 3:33Speaker 5: we need to go see this family today, right we do.
- 3:37Speaker 6: We come out and on our initial assessment, you know,
- 3:40Speaker 6: I'll meet with potential clients and kind of go over
- 3:44Speaker 6: I call my lifestyle questions to find out how things
- 3:49Speaker 6: operate there, whether it be at their business, which is
- 3:53Speaker 6: our primary focus, or we do have some residential clients
- 3:57Speaker 6: as well, you know, and then that helps me determine
- 4:00Speaker 6: how frequently those filters need to be changed.
- 4:03Speaker 5: So you can't really set okay, your filters need to
- 4:05Speaker 5: be changed every six months, every eight months, every three
- 4:07Speaker 5: months whatever. You don't really have a set time. It
- 4:09Speaker 5: just depends on the individual unit.
- 4:11Speaker 6: I guess right, Well, a filter, first of all, should
- 4:14Speaker 6: never go be on three months. Okay, okay, yeah, but yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 6: There are different factors that play into ones that need
- 4:20Speaker 6: to be changed more frequently. Probably the most common one
- 4:23Speaker 6: would be pets because pet dander is a huge clogger
- 4:26Speaker 6: of an air filter. So if you have a pet
- 4:29Speaker 6: in your home or it's at your business, because you know,
- 4:32Speaker 6: some people are fortunate enough to take their pet to
- 4:34Speaker 6: work with them, then that all of a sudden, bumps
- 4:38Speaker 6: it from every three months every two.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Okay, talk it again with John Lovejoy fresh here. All right,
- 4:44Speaker 5: So I'm gonna ask a really really dumb question because
- 4:46Speaker 5: that's what I do. Nobody does dumb questions like I do.
- 4:49Speaker 5: All right, so I can we'll talk residential. I can
- 4:53Speaker 5: go to my local hardware store, I can go to
- 4:55Speaker 5: my big box store and I can or I can
- 4:56Speaker 5: order online from Amazon or whatever filters and just they
- 5:00Speaker 5: make myself an oat change them every three months. Why
- 5:02Speaker 5: can't that? Why why can I not just do that?
- 5:05Speaker 6: Or why why do you suggest people do have a
- 5:08Speaker 6: dumb professional Well, the main thing is the custom frame. Okay,
- 5:13Speaker 6: it's a tighter fit. It's a heavier frame than what
- 5:16Speaker 6: you're buying at the local box stores. It's not one
- 5:18Speaker 6: of those cardboard frames. This one's made of metal, so
- 5:22Speaker 6: it's heavier, which means when your HVAC unit kicks on
- 5:25Speaker 6: and off, that custom frame doesn't move. And if there's
- 5:29Speaker 6: no movement in the frame, stuff's not getting around at
- 5:32Speaker 6: and into your HVAC unit. So those custom frames and
- 5:36Speaker 6: having a filter service do the work for you. Is
- 5:39Speaker 6: protecting that h FACT investment that you have, allowing it
- 5:44Speaker 6: to work at its peak, and to also protect that investment.
- 5:49Speaker 5: You know, some companies, some people, I should say, maybe
- 5:53Speaker 5: having a maintenance agreement. Now they're heating and cooling company
- 5:56Speaker 5: with a local company. And again we they advertise with
- 5:58Speaker 5: us too. We're all, you know, we're all about everybody
- 6:01Speaker 5: getting along. But if I if I have a maintenance
- 6:04Speaker 5: agreement where they come out and they service my heating
- 6:07Speaker 5: and cooling unit, why why would I still need you guys?
- 6:11Speaker 6: Well, you're preventive maintenance plans typically those through your h
- 6:15Speaker 6: VAC companies, which we love h VAC companies. We're not
- 6:18Speaker 6: an HVAC company, but we partner with h SURE companies,
- 6:22Speaker 6: but those preventive maintenance plans come out twice a year
- 6:26Speaker 6: typically if that switch over from winter to spring, and
- 6:28Speaker 6: that tip of switch over from summer to fall, okay,
- 6:32Speaker 6: that's every six months. Again, that filter really needs change
- 6:36Speaker 6: at least every three months, you know, so you're looking
- 6:40Speaker 6: uh that in between time. So you know, like I said,
- 6:45Speaker 6: we'd like to partner with them, have you know, let
- 6:49Speaker 6: them we find it's cheaper for them to actually contact
- 6:53Speaker 6: us and do filter changes for their customers.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Then that's interesting. I don't know you guys did that.
- 6:58Speaker 6: We do cause it's cheaper for them to pay us
- 7:03Speaker 6: to do it than it is for you as a
- 7:07Speaker 6: customer to have to pay a service call okay for
- 7:11Speaker 6: you know, so they can offer the service to their
- 7:13Speaker 6: clients and out you know, outsource that so to speak
- 7:18Speaker 6: to us and we handle the filter changes for that.
- 7:20Speaker 5: And I think it's very important that you very important
- 7:23Speaker 5: that John, that you point that out that you guys
- 7:25Speaker 5: are not in competition with some of the HVAC companies
- 7:28Speaker 5: or anything like that. You actually work with them exactly.
- 7:30Speaker 6: We are not whatsoever now My technicians when they go
- 7:34Speaker 6: out you know, they're there to change filters. That's that's
- 7:38Speaker 6: all we do. We are strictly filters. We're not We
- 7:41Speaker 6: don't do installs, we don't do repairs. We don't do
- 7:44Speaker 6: But my technicians have a strong h FYC industry background.
- 7:49Speaker 6: So if they're out there and they see a potential issue,
- 7:54Speaker 6: they will make the customer aware of that.
- 7:57Speaker 5: And say, hey, you need to contact your folks. You've
- 7:58Speaker 5: got an issue here exactly.
- 8:00Speaker 6: And so that way it kind of keeps a major
- 8:05Speaker 6: problem from happening. You know, before that HVAC company is contacted.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Doctor John Lovejoy of Fresh Air. It's nine to fifteen
- 8:14Speaker 5: day Island showing five eighty lives. Brought to you part
- 8:16Speaker 5: by Bridge Valley offering custom tailored trainings to supply skilled
- 8:19Speaker 5: graduates and apprenticeships for your company. Visit Bridge Valley dot edu.
- 8:23Speaker 5: All right, let's talk about what you do for businesses.
- 8:25Speaker 5: And you've told us stories about about some of the
- 8:28Speaker 5: I mean, because let's face it, we got some got
- 8:30Speaker 5: some difficult businesses to work on the older buildings and
- 8:33Speaker 5: so on so forth here in the Kenaw Valley. So
- 8:36Speaker 5: talk about the services that you offer for businesses. And
- 8:38Speaker 5: if somebody is listening right now, and they're a business
- 8:40Speaker 5: owner and they're thinking, well, you know, this is something
- 8:44Speaker 5: I don't want to have to mess with. What services
- 8:47Speaker 5: do you offer for businesses and how does it differ
- 8:49Speaker 5: from residential The.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Big difference when it comes to businesses is, you know,
- 8:55Speaker 6: you've got typically larger spaces, more units, and a lot
- 9:00Speaker 6: of them are rooftop units. So Mike, guys will I
- 9:06Speaker 6: jokingly say, any any filter, any location.
- 9:09Speaker 5: You don't care to send them up there?
- 9:10Speaker 7: Do you?
- 9:10Speaker 5: I don't know whatsoever. And I believe in you because
- 9:13Speaker 5: you're gonna be sitting in the car going right there
- 9:15Speaker 5: that you need to go on the twentieth floor, go
- 9:17Speaker 5: right there, believe.
- 9:18Speaker 8: It or not.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I've actually been in some of these rooftops aroundtown Charleston.
- 9:23Speaker 6: I've one in particular, had to go to the third floor,
- 9:26Speaker 6: climb through a window out onto a balcony, up the stair,
- 9:32Speaker 6: up the ladder on the outside of the building to
- 9:35Speaker 6: the top floor, to the top of the building, top
- 9:38Speaker 6: of the building, and that was that was quite interesting.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but my guys will do that.
- 9:43Speaker 6: So a lot of businesses think, you know, you know,
- 9:46Speaker 6: I've got a maintenance team. My maintenance guys will do that.
- 9:51Speaker 6: The nice thing is we like to kind of referre
- 9:53Speaker 6: to ourselves as an extension. We're not there to replace
- 9:57Speaker 6: your maintenance team. We're there as an extension.
- 10:00Speaker 5: It's just basically like you do for residential. It's basically
- 10:02Speaker 5: the same concept exactly.
- 10:04Speaker 6: It is it truly is you know, just coming out
- 10:06Speaker 6: and making sure that those are changed on a regular
- 10:09Speaker 6: basis so that you're it allows your h FAC unit
- 10:12Speaker 6: to work the way it was designed to work, which
- 10:15Speaker 6: lower energy consumption. Lower energy consumption means lower bills.
- 10:19Speaker 5: So somebody's listening right now and uh, they're thinking about
- 10:23Speaker 5: their residents or they're thinking about their business, and they
- 10:26Speaker 5: get they call you, We'll get you the contact information.
- 10:28Speaker 4: They call you.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Guys up, you come out to a consultation. I guess yes,
- 10:31Speaker 5: we do, and you'll sit down with them and explain, Okay,
- 10:33Speaker 5: this is what we're going to do, this is what
- 10:34Speaker 5: you have, and uh, then that sort of thing right exactly.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Yeah, we like to go out and meet with them
- 10:39Speaker 6: on site just to see exactly what we're looking at,
- 10:43Speaker 6: how many units they have, you know, potentially how many
- 10:46Speaker 6: filters there are involved, and then that will allow us
- 10:50Speaker 6: to you know, go back and crunch some numbers and
- 10:53Speaker 6: you know, get that quote to them.
- 10:55Speaker 5: And you mentioned saving money on the bills. That's that's
- 10:58Speaker 5: where people are listening right now, and they're thinking, well,
- 11:01Speaker 5: I don't know if I want to do this, I'll
- 11:02Speaker 5: just take care of myself. But as soon as you
- 11:03Speaker 5: say saving money on energy bills, because we all know
- 11:06Speaker 5: what they're doing. My wife and I were just talking
- 11:07Speaker 5: about how much our energy bill went up this past month.
- 11:11Speaker 5: You're saying it's going to save you money.
- 11:13Speaker 4: It will.
- 11:14Speaker 6: Yes, it's because regular filter changes are the number one
- 11:19Speaker 6: way of making sure that that HVAC unit's not overworking.
- 11:24Speaker 6: You know, the dirtier that filter gets, the harder that
- 11:28Speaker 6: HVAC units used working to get air through that filter.
- 11:32Speaker 6: So by keeping that clean and changed on a regular basis,
- 11:36Speaker 6: it provides the high efficiency and either the phrase high
- 11:40Speaker 6: efficiency heat pump.
- 11:42Speaker 5: All right, Where can people learn more? What's the best
- 11:45Speaker 5: way to reach you? Website, social media, phone numbers.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Yeah, you got we are on we are on Facebook

- 16:31Speaker 5: just say, hey, you're still good for tomorrow whatever. And
- 16:33Speaker 5: you called me immediately and you sounding pretty rough, just
- 16:35Speaker 5: like an allergy type thing or what.
- 16:37Speaker 4: I'm not sure what it was, but I hit some
- 16:39Speaker 4: man in body. It's not too long after that, and
- 16:41Speaker 4: I was able to get through it. But you know, July,
- 16:43Speaker 4: when you get sick in July like it, it's no
- 16:44Speaker 4: fun at all.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, especially you because You're a big outdoors guy.
- 16:47Speaker 5: You're always traveling somewhere and doing something with RVs, and
- 16:51Speaker 5: we're going to talk about that a little bit later on.
- 16:52Speaker 5: I would be remiss though, if I didn't mention this,
- 16:55Speaker 5: because I know you're a diehard Chicago cubsman. The death
- 16:58Speaker 5: of Ryan Sandberg, and you were telling me a story
- 17:02Speaker 5: on the air that you actually had communication with Ryan
- 17:05Speaker 5: Sandberg talking. He died of pancreatic cancer. It was announced
- 17:07Speaker 5: late last night. Talk about your relationship with Ryan Sandberg.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Well, obviously, my relationship started as a huge fan during
- 17:15Speaker 4: the nineteen eighties when Jeb wgn was being cabled in here,
- 17:19Speaker 4: piped in and started watching the games, and he came
- 17:23Speaker 4: over and a trade from the Phillies as his rookie there,
- 17:26Speaker 4: and I became a big fan of the Cubs in general.
- 17:29Speaker 4: But Sandberg was the guy. I mean, he was a
- 17:32Speaker 4: class act on and off the field. He had the
- 17:35Speaker 4: same demeanor. It seemed like, no matter if he hit
- 17:37Speaker 4: the home run to win the game or or to
- 17:40Speaker 4: put him ahead, or you know, if he struck out,
- 17:43Speaker 4: you know, went back to the dugout calm cool. Collect
- 17:45Speaker 4: never argue to call He's the type of role model.
- 17:49Speaker 4: I think, you know, I would want my kids to
- 17:51Speaker 4: emulate after any athlete, always a class act on and
- 17:55Speaker 4: off the field. And so I followed his career. And
- 17:59Speaker 4: right after wife and I got married, sheep from my
- 18:02Speaker 4: first birthday, she brought me the book Second to Home.
- 18:05Speaker 4: It was basically a biography of him at that time
- 18:07Speaker 4: that was in the nineties and h reading through some
- 18:10Speaker 4: of his personal life. He was dealing with some things
- 18:12Speaker 4: that I had dealt with, and so you could really
- 18:13Speaker 4: relate to the guy off the field as well. And
- 18:17Speaker 4: and he had some challenges. It wasn't you know, life
- 18:20Speaker 4: wasn't easy for him, some things that sometimes seem unfair. Uh,
- 18:24Speaker 4: but obviously you wouldn't know that, you know when you're
- 18:27Speaker 4: watching him playball in the field and uh so you
- 18:29Speaker 4: know you've seen the evolution of it go through and
- 18:32Speaker 4: uh and then last year, you know there, uh went
- 18:35Speaker 4: through a situation. I had a couple of friends. I
- 18:38Speaker 4: had a good friend here in a valley that had
- 18:40Speaker 4: been diagnosed with prostate cancer. And he told me to Danny,
- 18:44Speaker 4: you need to go get your PSA check. Get that
- 18:46Speaker 4: PSA check is on me and on me, and uh
- 18:48Speaker 4: so I did that it came back and it was
- 18:50Speaker 4: elevated quite a bit, and there was that scare for
- 18:53Speaker 4: a moment, you know, that that there could be something there,
- 18:56Speaker 4: and so reached out just by chance on social media,
- 19:00Speaker 4: uh and uh to Ryan Sandberg because he was going
- 19:03Speaker 4: through this at the time. He had been diagnosed, he
- 19:06Speaker 4: went through treatment and then went into remission last this
- 19:09Speaker 4: time last year, he would have said, you know, he's
- 19:11Speaker 4: uh in complete remission and then uh, it was about
- 19:15Speaker 4: the same time, that was about November December that he
- 19:19Speaker 4: announced that it had come back and had spread into
- 19:23Speaker 4: other parts of the body and things that that at
- 19:24Speaker 4: that point when I was able to talk to him communicate,
- 19:27Speaker 4: they've got talk between one on.
- 19:28Speaker 5: One price Yeah, but still, I mean, I mean, fans
- 19:31Speaker 5: of of any celebrity, whether it's a ballplayer or singer,
- 19:34Speaker 5: actor or whatever, they reach out to people on social
- 19:36Speaker 5: media all the time. But the real Ryan Sandberg Rhino
- 19:39Speaker 5: is he was known. Actually you guys had a communication
- 19:42Speaker 5: back and forth. I mean, that's that's pretty cool.
- 19:44Speaker 4: It was pretty neat for him, you know, and knowing
- 19:45Speaker 4: everything was going on in his life and things that
- 19:48Speaker 4: take that time to just basically say hey.
- 19:49Speaker 5: To talk to a fan. I mean, he's you know,
- 19:52Speaker 5: he's a big time baseball player. I'm sorry, with all
- 19:54Speaker 5: due respect, he's not respect he's not he's not uh,
- 19:57Speaker 5: he's not intimidated by by delicate Dana Ferrell. You know,
- 20:00Speaker 5: he probably didn't know that you knowing you, you probably
- 20:02Speaker 5: didn't even tell him that you were in the legislature.
- 20:04Speaker 5: You just told him you're a fan.
- 20:05Speaker 4: So I'm not sure he's been in West Virginia. I
- 20:07Speaker 4: don't know how much of but but I know, you know,
- 20:10Speaker 4: they knew he was a big fan. And that's the
- 20:12Speaker 4: kind of guy is you know, when you go back
- 20:13Speaker 4: and watch some of the videos. I watched some of
- 20:15Speaker 4: the things interviews that he had on some shows just
- 20:17Speaker 4: like yours. He would come on these kinds of shows
- 20:19Speaker 4: and podcasts and and speak about some of the things
- 20:21Speaker 4: that he was passionate about and and and I'm very
- 20:24Speaker 4: involved with his grandsons who were playing, uh both little
- 20:28Speaker 4: leig and travel baseball. And he was just talking about
- 20:32Speaker 4: his emphasis on just enjoying the game and and this
- 20:36Speaker 4: idea that some of these parent coaches get out there
- 20:39Speaker 4: and take it so seriously and are you know, meaning
- 20:42Speaker 4: kids and.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Uh, usually failed athletes in their own that's usually what
- 20:47Speaker 5: it is.
- 20:47Speaker 4: And he was like, no, you know, this is not
- 20:49Speaker 4: what it should be about. You know, you get I
- 20:51Speaker 4: want the kids to come out and enjoy, love the game.
- 20:53Speaker 4: And and so you go back and watch some of
- 20:55Speaker 4: those those are out there on YouTube. You can watch them,
- 20:57Speaker 4: and it's just you see what kind of guy he was. Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 4: it was a gut punch yesterday for me because.
- 21:02Speaker 5: You sent me a text last night about it, and
- 21:05Speaker 5: of course, you know, Papa here goes to bed really early,
- 21:07Speaker 5: so I didn't get it until this morning. I got up,
- 21:09Speaker 5: and out of respect for you, I didn't return it
- 21:11Speaker 5: at five am this morning when I got up, but
- 21:12Speaker 5: I saw you'd send me the text about him Bohm
- 21:14Speaker 5: passing away. I actually shared it on my on my
- 21:16Speaker 5: social media as well. Now I will say this, You know,
- 21:19Speaker 5: my wife is from Chicago, but the other end of town,
- 21:22Speaker 5: and so they're all die hard White Sox fans, which
- 21:25Speaker 5: has not been very easy the last couple of years.
- 21:28Speaker 5: To be honest with you, Thank goodness for the Colorado
- 21:30Speaker 5: Rockies this year, or the White Sox would be the
- 21:33Speaker 5: worst team in baseball. But there is that amount of respect,
- 21:37Speaker 5: you know between the two.
- 21:38Speaker 4: The same as it would be for Johnny Bench or
- 21:40Speaker 4: a Pete Rose. Yeah, there's your guys. You just say, hey,
- 21:42Speaker 4: you know this is not about who they played for.
- 21:46Speaker 5: I do want to mention this because you mentioned that,
- 21:48Speaker 5: and I promise we're not going to keep talking about sports.
- 21:50Speaker 5: But I would be remiss also if I didn't mention
- 21:53Speaker 5: that yesterday was the eighty third birthday of Marty Breneman,
- 21:57Speaker 5: the longtime broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds. The only thing
- 22:00Speaker 5: I can say is I hope when I'm eighty three
- 22:03Speaker 5: years old that I looked like Marty Brenneman and sound
- 22:06Speaker 5: like Marty Brennaman I catch interviews with him from time
- 22:08Speaker 5: to time. He could still call a game, he could
- 22:11Speaker 5: call a doubleheader, and the guy at eighty three years
- 22:15Speaker 5: old and he I mean growing up as a Reds
- 22:18Speaker 5: fan in southern West Virginia, you know, the Reds were
- 22:21Speaker 5: on just about every radio station. And some of my
- 22:24Speaker 5: greatest memories were hanging out with my grandpa in his
- 22:27Speaker 5: garage and he had a big homemade stereo system set
- 22:32Speaker 5: up where he had these giant speakers he hooked up
- 22:34Speaker 5: to an old radio and he would go out and
- 22:36Speaker 5: tinker with things in the garage, and I would listen
- 22:40Speaker 5: to the Reds games, and I'm talking about the Reds
- 22:42Speaker 5: of Bench Rose Concepcion being Red Machine Danny Dreeson. But
- 22:46Speaker 5: I was also there for the eighties late eighties Reds.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Of course, they won the series in ninety and then
- 22:51Speaker 5: they suffered after that. I've been a fan ever since.
- 22:54Speaker 5: The only Reds official and we do these Reds caravans
- 22:58Speaker 5: every year. Did them when I was at the radio
- 22:59Speaker 5: station and logan. The only person that ever came into
- 23:03Speaker 5: town that I ever asked to have my picture made
- 23:05Speaker 5: with was Marty Brenneman. And we brought in Eric Davis,
- 23:08Speaker 5: We brought in Zach Cozart when he played there. We
- 23:11Speaker 5: brought in the Cowboy, Jeff Brantley. All these guys, and
- 23:15Speaker 5: all due respect to them, Dusty Baker when he was
- 23:17Speaker 5: a manager. The only person I ever wanted my picture
- 23:20Speaker 5: made with was Marty Brenneman. And I still have a
- 23:22Speaker 5: picture of me and my buddy Tommy and with Marty
- 23:26Speaker 5: Brennman because he's one of the best. He celebrated birthday
- 23:28Speaker 5: number eighty three, as I said, I want to look
- 23:30Speaker 5: like that and sound like that when I'm eighty three
- 23:32Speaker 5: years old, I probably won't know.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I think you're on your way there.
- 23:35Speaker 5: I'm on my way to eighty three. That's what I'm
- 23:37Speaker 5: on my way to, all right. So I want to
- 23:41Speaker 5: there's several things I think you wanted to talk about,
- 23:43Speaker 5: and I'll just kind of give you the floor because
- 23:45Speaker 5: you got several things. There's been some things in the
- 23:48Speaker 5: news about funding here as of late, and some of
- 23:51Speaker 5: the county officials a little bit bothered. I know on
- 23:54Speaker 5: talk line they got into it yesterday that there was
- 23:56Speaker 5: some funding that was being held up potentially by the
- 23:59Speaker 5: administration of the as administration. What can you tell us
- 24:01Speaker 5: about that? What's your take?
- 24:02Speaker 4: Well, first of all, you know, I think a lot
- 24:04Speaker 4: of people were when that came out, as well, what
- 24:06Speaker 4: are they talking about? What does this lead of fund
- 24:10Speaker 4: and grant money that they're talking about? And so I
- 24:12Speaker 4: certainly wanted to clarify that and and and that, you know,
- 24:15Speaker 4: I wasn't even sure when I was running for office
- 24:17Speaker 4: that this was something that would have access to, but
- 24:20Speaker 4: become a very very important part I think of any
- 24:23Speaker 4: of the representatives, rather be the Senate and or delegates,
- 24:26Speaker 4: that we have access to these funds, and we're limited
- 24:29Speaker 4: to a certain amount each year. For the legislators. It's
- 24:32Speaker 4: twenty five thousand dollars each per year, and that can
- 24:37Speaker 4: roll over if I don't use it all. If I
- 24:38Speaker 4: only request and get ten thousand dollars distributed out to
- 24:43Speaker 4: different groups or projects in my district, then the other
- 24:46Speaker 4: fifteen thousand would roll over into next year and I
- 24:48Speaker 4: would have forty thousand available at that point in time.
- 24:52Speaker 4: So you know that's been the case, is you is
- 24:54Speaker 4: I've been up there, and I've been able to do
- 24:56Speaker 4: a lot of great things. I think personally with UH
- 24:59Speaker 4: with that money for my district, and so I think
- 25:01Speaker 4: it's a good thing. It's tax payer money, but UH,
- 25:03Speaker 4: as they said, it's it's money that the state couldn't
- 25:07Speaker 4: get involved in some of these smaller projects. It would
- 25:10Speaker 4: be a micro management kind of thing. But by being
- 25:13Speaker 4: a delegate or senator, you're on the ground, you understand
- 25:15Speaker 4: the projects, you understand the needs that are going on
- 25:18Speaker 4: in your communities, and so this gives us an opportunity
- 25:20Speaker 4: to be able to help out some of the things.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Obviously been able to help out with a lot of
- 25:24Speaker 4: sports teams talking sports there in my community to be
- 25:27Speaker 4: able to and it's always let me say this to
- 25:30Speaker 4: it's that that money doesn't go for travels, for frivolous things.
- 25:33Speaker 4: It has to go for tangible items, infrastructure things like that.
- 25:38Speaker 4: So I know right now we're working on and I
- 25:41Speaker 4: was able to join forces with both Senator to Kubo
- 25:45Speaker 4: and Cintor then Eric Nelson, and we put it pulled
- 25:49Speaker 4: her money together to help Cis High School finish their
- 25:51Speaker 4: track facilities out there that not only would help Cystamville,
- 25:55Speaker 4: but this past year they were able to hold regional
- 25:57Speaker 4: track meets for schools and teams from all over the
- 26:02Speaker 4: region be able to come in there. And this outside
- 26:04Speaker 4: of Lately Field, it's the other campus track and field
- 26:08Speaker 4: facility that's able to hold a complete track meet like that.
- 26:11Speaker 4: So we were able to get the funds to be
- 26:14Speaker 4: able to help make that happen and be a reality
- 26:16Speaker 4: that's now serving you know, thousands of fans and young
- 26:19Speaker 4: people throughout the just Systemville, but throughout the region. So
- 26:22Speaker 4: these are things that these moneys are there for, and
- 26:26Speaker 4: it could be for nonprofits, you know, these types of
- 26:29Speaker 4: things that we're able to chant it through. So you know,
- 26:32Speaker 4: we do this and my understanding, I you know, wasn't
- 26:35Speaker 4: aware that this was going on until the news came down.
- 26:37Speaker 4: But I do know that the switchover of administrations has
- 26:41Speaker 4: caused a pause and that money that was following, you know,
- 26:45Speaker 4: because I've come in under the Justice administration and you
- 26:48Speaker 4: requested the money. It went through the process. It goes
- 26:50Speaker 4: to the Finance chair who screens it and make sure
- 26:54Speaker 4: it's legit what you're asking for, clarifies that. Then it
- 26:57Speaker 4: goes to the Speaker who also checks that, and then
- 26:59Speaker 4: finally on with the governor office, two signs off on it,
- 27:01Speaker 4: and then the check is issued not to me, but
- 27:04Speaker 4: to the empty that we requested for. But uh, that
- 27:09Speaker 4: flow had stopped as the new governor coming into place,
- 27:13Speaker 4: so we were told that, hey, they were just trying
- 27:15Speaker 4: to get their h ducks in a row and get
- 27:18Speaker 4: get a grip on this and get the get the
- 27:21Speaker 4: process flowing in place. As of now, I have not
- 27:24Speaker 4: had any checks come my way. I hope it's not
- 27:26Speaker 4: because if it's a disagreement I might have with the
- 27:29Speaker 4: administration as was insinuated here. But uh, you know, if
- 27:33Speaker 4: if that's the case, it happened there in Wood County,
- 27:35Speaker 4: I hope they can get that worked out, because this
- 27:38Speaker 4: is the people's money. It's going back to help constitchments
- 27:41Speaker 4: and uh, you know, we don't need to be playing
- 27:44Speaker 4: games back and forth out of the way.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Have you have you had any conversations with the Morris
- 27:49Speaker 5: Seat administration, like cause I know the Talk Line boys
- 27:52Speaker 5: had to delegate to Heckert on the show yesterday. Uh,
- 27:55Speaker 5: he's been quite vocal about this. Have you had any
- 27:57Speaker 5: conversations with the Morris Seat ministration about this?
- 27:59Speaker 4: Not recently, but well it's probably been about a month
- 28:02Speaker 4: or so ago. I asked about what this status was
- 28:04Speaker 4: and we were just told, hey, it's just in the process,
- 28:06Speaker 4: you know, just be patient, we're getting this worked out. Uh,
- 28:09Speaker 4: but I've not had anything since then. We were asked
- 28:12Speaker 4: that anything that we put in at the end of
- 28:14Speaker 4: the Justice Administration going back to last fall winter, those
- 28:18Speaker 4: had those checks had never come through, so we were
- 28:21Speaker 4: asked to resubmit those.
- 28:23Speaker 10: Uh.
- 28:23Speaker 4: So I did that last month and still waiting, you
- 28:27Speaker 4: know at this point.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Sore.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Again, I'm not pointing a finger. Hopefully this is just
- 28:30Speaker 4: the alan of things. But but these projects, a lot
- 28:33Speaker 4: of them are time sensitive, a lot of them have
- 28:35Speaker 4: matching funds and so we're trying to make that money
- 28:38Speaker 4: go as far as possible in the community. So hopefully
- 28:41Speaker 4: this gets worked out. And and it's just unfortunate than
- 28:45Speaker 4: we are where we are. You know, a lot of
- 28:47Speaker 4: people ask me a lot of times, and you know,
- 28:49Speaker 4: we have a ninety one member super majority in the
- 28:52Speaker 4: House and and about equally percentage in the Senate and things.
- 28:55Speaker 4: But within that majority, obviously we have different factions of
- 28:59Speaker 4: people with different ideals the way they think the party
- 29:01Speaker 4: should go.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Talking to Delegate Dan A. Farel with Dave Island showing
- 29:04Speaker 5: five Vidie Line bront to you part by Live Healthy
- 29:06Speaker 5: West Virginia presented by WVU Medicine. It's a great podcast
- 29:09Speaker 5: promoting healthier lifestyles. Check have a latest episodes wv metronews
- 29:13Speaker 5: dot com under the podcast menu. Speaking of which, this
- 29:15Speaker 5: past Saturday, the Republicans gathered in Morgantown chose a new
- 29:19Speaker 5: party chair. Your your your compadre. There a Delegate Josh
- 29:24Speaker 5: Holstein out of Boone County. I know you've known Delegate
- 29:26Speaker 5: Holstein for some time. It turned out to be a
- 29:29Speaker 5: pretty close race at the top there between Wes Perry
- 29:32Speaker 5: and Josh Holstein, your thoughts on the new chair.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Josh is a great guy, and I think he's going
- 29:36Speaker 4: to do a great job. You know, we talk about
- 29:39Speaker 4: wanting young people to be and stay in West Virginia
- 29:41Speaker 4: and be a part of the process, and Josh it
- 29:44Speaker 4: pitomizes that. I mean, twenty three years old. He's that guy,
- 29:48Speaker 4: and he's He's done a great job representing Boone County
- 29:52Speaker 4: in the House of Delegates and I think he will
- 29:54Speaker 4: do a great job representing the party. Very level headed
- 29:59Speaker 4: kind of guy. I think, you know, thinks things through.
- 30:00Speaker 4: We talked about the Sandberg, calm, cool, collect kind of guy.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Josh hosting is that kind of guy.
- 30:07Speaker 5: So one of the things that didn't happen at the
- 30:11Speaker 5: convention or the gathering this past weekend, it wasn't brought
- 30:13Speaker 5: forward about UH Republicans made the decision to close the
- 30:17Speaker 5: primary to independence. It was thought that there that may
- 30:20Speaker 5: be back on the table. Turned out that it wasn't
- 30:22Speaker 5: didn't go through the prior Well, it just it wasn't
- 30:24Speaker 5: brought It wasn't brought up. Do you have any thoughts
- 30:27Speaker 5: on that on on on the primaries being open or
- 30:30Speaker 5: closed to independence?
- 30:31Speaker 4: Well, understand what the process what you know, the idea
- 30:35Speaker 4: was that they wanted to do this, you know obviously,
- 30:37Speaker 4: is that they you know, they wanted to make sure
- 30:39Speaker 4: that the Republican values is and the platform that they
- 30:43Speaker 4: were putting forth was was what was more focused on
- 30:49Speaker 4: the candidates that would you know, would represent that. I
- 30:52Speaker 4: do have concerns though, in a long run, that that
- 30:54Speaker 4: could come back to bite because uh, we have so
- 30:57Speaker 4: many independence in this state.
- 30:59Speaker 5: I mean, it's the fastest growing party in the state.
- 31:02Speaker 5: The fastest growing party is a non party basically.
- 31:05Speaker 4: And so in some ways, you know, we've disenfranchised them
- 31:08Speaker 4: and said, well, you know, we don't care about what
- 31:09Speaker 4: you think over here and this point. And so are
- 31:12Speaker 4: they more likely than when it comes to general election
- 31:14Speaker 4: to say, well, you know I've already you know, I
- 31:17Speaker 4: was only allowed to participate on the Democrat side and
- 31:20Speaker 4: so and and then then let's face it, an independence
- 31:23Speaker 4: is going to be more moderate in nature. They wouldn't
- 31:26Speaker 4: be an independence, and so they're probably if they vote
- 31:29Speaker 4: in either election, are probably want to go for that
- 31:31Speaker 4: more centrist you know, rather be on the left or
- 31:33Speaker 4: the right. So that may allow the Democrats to get that,
- 31:37Speaker 4: you know, go from the more extreme left to you
- 31:40Speaker 4: back to the center more and then they follow that
- 31:43Speaker 4: Canada into the general election. At this point in time,
- 31:47Speaker 4: West Virginia is so so far to the Republican Party
- 31:53Speaker 4: that I'm not sure how soon it would happen. But
- 31:54Speaker 4: I do think there's a chance, you know, that that
- 31:56Speaker 4: that could creep back to back to be a problem.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Well look, I mean I had Delegate Andy Shamlin on
- 32:03Speaker 5: the show yesterday. He's a teacher. You were a teacher,
- 32:06Speaker 5: I mean young people, And I can tell you when
- 32:08Speaker 5: I used to go into schools and do but a
- 32:10Speaker 5: registration drive, and I worked for the Secretary of State's office.
- 32:13Speaker 5: You know, we were not allowed to tell them. They
- 32:14Speaker 5: would say, well should I register Republican? You know that
- 32:17Speaker 5: we were nonpartisan. We were just like, well, that's totally
- 32:19Speaker 5: up to you. You guys, talking among yourselves will help you.
- 32:22Speaker 5: The majority of the young kids. And Delegate shaml it's
- 32:25Speaker 5: been a while since I did that, but since what
- 32:27Speaker 5: based on what Delicate Shamblain told me yesterday, that's not changed.
- 32:30Speaker 5: The majority of the of the young people are are
- 32:32Speaker 5: signing up as independents.
- 32:34Speaker 4: That's correct, you know, And so I think a lot
- 32:36Speaker 4: of people just look at hey, I want to be.
- 32:38Speaker 4: I think people in the state certainly lean to the
- 32:41Speaker 4: right there, you know, it's conservatives value type of state.
- 32:46Speaker 4: But at the same time, I think most of the
- 32:48Speaker 4: people in this state are also very pragmatic and just
- 32:52Speaker 4: look at things that you know, and say, hey, you know,
- 32:54Speaker 4: this is non partisan issue. A lot of things that
- 32:56Speaker 4: we look at our non pods, and I think that's
- 32:58Speaker 4: the way most people want to be. But uh, but
- 33:02Speaker 4: the election, you know, I understand the purpose and how
- 33:05Speaker 4: they're going there, but I'm not sure in the long
- 33:07Speaker 4: run if this is the direction we want to stay here.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I don't know this is going to be Obviously, that's
- 33:11Speaker 4: why we have a party and we have a party
- 33:14Speaker 4: chairman as we did and elect hearing, you know, and
- 33:16Speaker 4: hopefully they'll look through this and figured out, hey, I'm
- 33:20Speaker 4: here Republican that represents the sixtieth district. You know, do
- 33:24Speaker 4: the best job. I can.
- 33:26Speaker 10: Know.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Their pretenses and what they do at that level was
- 33:28Speaker 4: going to be up to them.
- 33:29Speaker 5: All right, So final question for you, you're gonna run
- 33:32Speaker 5: for re election?
- 33:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I've already I found my pre candidacy and you know,
- 33:37Speaker 4: look forward to it. I think one of the things
- 33:39Speaker 4: you find out once you get up there is that
- 33:41Speaker 4: seniority and time and experience does matter on matters of
- 33:46Speaker 4: how things and how running. And the longer you're there,
- 33:49Speaker 4: the poor opportunity you have to chair a certain committee
- 33:52Speaker 4: and having the opportunity to share those committees. We talked about,
- 33:56Speaker 4: We talked about the whole thing with the governor and
- 34:00Speaker 4: get heckered having the differences and in the pot. You know,
- 34:02Speaker 4: I'm not saying theody did, but the possibi ability that
- 34:05Speaker 4: money was held up over that. I've seen bills held
- 34:07Speaker 4: up over differences in my opinion out of committee and things,
- 34:11Speaker 4: and so you know, I think you have to learn
- 34:13Speaker 4: how to play that. And if I'm going to represent it,
- 34:16Speaker 4: I'm there to represent the people with the sixties district
- 34:18Speaker 4: at Systemville, Big Tyler, and parts of Dunbar. Uh. That's
- 34:21Speaker 4: my first priority, and then it's the people with state
- 34:24Speaker 4: of West Virginia and then to the Republican Party. And
- 34:27Speaker 4: if I'm doing what's in the best interest of the
- 34:29Speaker 4: people in my district, you know, I want to try
- 34:32Speaker 4: to do everything I can to be in the best position, uh,
- 34:35Speaker 4: to be able to influence the policies and the laws
- 34:40Speaker 4: that you know that best effect and or if it's
- 34:42Speaker 4: funding and whatever, to get back to back to my community.
- 34:47Speaker 4: That is, That's what I'm there for and ultimately to
- 34:50Speaker 4: help the state of West Virginia.
- 34:52Speaker 6: Right.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Ah, it's a pleasure to have you on the show, sir.
- 34:54Speaker 5: We'll have you on one time just to talk about.

- 40:04Speaker 5: text here. Tex says people have been dead wrong about independence.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Most independents I know have been independence all our lives
- 40:11Speaker 5: and are proud of it. If they don't want our help,
- 40:14Speaker 5: So the Republicans, I think I'm presuming that they're talking about,
- 40:18Speaker 5: they will force us to pick asides, and me and
- 40:21Speaker 5: my friends won't be choosing this, choosing the side that
- 40:23Speaker 5: rejects our support. That is a lot of the concern.
- 40:28Speaker 5: And we've had people talk about that that you're I mean,
- 40:30Speaker 5: I think it's a mistake. Nobody asked me I'm a
- 40:33Speaker 5: registered independent. Okay, I've been a registered Democrat, I've been
- 40:36Speaker 5: a registered Republican. These days i'm a registered independent. But
- 40:39Speaker 5: I will tell you I think they're making a mistake.
- 40:41Speaker 5: But I mean they didn't acts from my opinion. By
- 40:45Speaker 5: the way, when I say acts, I am just kidding them,
- 40:48Speaker 5: I think, cause somebody commented about people saying acts. That's
- 40:51Speaker 5: just kind of me being Dave Tex says about yesterday's show,
- 40:55Speaker 5: I feel badly for delicate Shamblain that he has to
- 40:57Speaker 5: keep coming on saying the road working cross lanes will
- 41:00Speaker 5: start any day now and still doesn't happen. It's coming.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Andy tells me it's coming, but they have had some delays.
- 41:06Speaker 5: It's not been canceled though. That's the thing that when
- 41:08Speaker 5: Della gets Shamblin comes on the show that he wants
- 41:10Speaker 5: to reiterate to people that it's not been postponed finding
- 41:13Speaker 5: it and run out. They just had some delays. So
- 41:15Speaker 5: hopefully they'll get it up and go. Coming up on
- 41:17Speaker 5: the show tomorrow, we're gonna We've heard a lot about

- 41:26Speaker 5: John Garton is the new chief of police of Dunbar.
- 41:29Speaker 5: We actually had him on Metro News Midday last week
- 41:31Speaker 5: and he's basically tasked trying to clean up the mess.
- 41:35Speaker 5: There have been some good officers in Dunbar, some not
- 41:39Speaker 5: so good. Well, he needs more officers. He's on to
- 41:41Speaker 5: be hiring spree right now and we're going to give
- 41:43Speaker 5: Chief Garton an opportunity to talk about that on the
- 41:46Speaker 5: show tomorrow.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Again.
- 41:47Speaker 5: Their issues with the Dunbar Police Department, the settlements they
- 41:50Speaker 5: had to pay out, so on and so forth, that's
- 41:51Speaker 5: been well documented all right, But now John Garton is
- 41:54Speaker 5: in there and he is trying to clean it up.
- 41:57Speaker 5: So he's going to join us on the show tomorrow.
- 41:59Speaker 5: And they need to they desperately need to hire some
- 42:03Speaker 5: new officers. So we'll talk to Chief Garden about that

- 42:27Speaker 5: that would overturn a sixteen year old scientific find findings
- 42:33Speaker 5: that has allowed three different presidential administrations to regulate climate restrictions. Basically,
- 42:39Speaker 5: what's going to come out in this is greenhouse gases
- 42:42Speaker 5: are not harmful, and this will restrict the government's authority
- 42:48Speaker 5: to cut back on carbon emissions from the energy and
- 42:51Speaker 5: auto industries. It's also going to roll back certain climate

- 46:54Speaker 5: life experience to manage properly. We'll see how it goes.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Republicans feel safe though, because we're Publicans would rather be
- 47:01Speaker 5: Russian than to vote Democrat, says a Texter dem let
- 47:06Speaker 5: me see Texas. It seems like the only people talking
- 47:09Speaker 5: about the gob primary are West Virginia media personalities. I
- 47:12Speaker 5: don't hear much about it on the street. Well, you
- 47:15Speaker 5: just heard a member of the legislator Dana Ferrell, a
- 47:18Speaker 5: Republican out of the sixtieth who expressed concerned. Yesterday you
- 47:21Speaker 5: heard from delicate Andy Shamlin who expressed concerns. So it's
- 47:26Speaker 5: not just talking heads that are doing the talking. Tex
- 47:30Speaker 5: says I bet the cross lanes road construction starts when
- 47:33Speaker 5: school starts. Going to be a great time, says a Texter.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Tex says Davi. As you well know, President Obama executive
- 47:39Speaker 5: order just declared carbon dioxide as a pollutant, drastically changed
- 47:43Speaker 5: the environmental footprint, says a text. And because you know
- 47:47Speaker 5: I like to cover the big important stories on the show,
- 47:50Speaker 5: I do want to address an email that I got.
- 47:54Speaker 5: And by the way, anytime you ever want to reach
- 47:55Speaker 5: out to me, feel free to do so. I'm on Facebook,
- 47:57Speaker 5: Dave Island Radio, or at Dave A seventy on X
- 47:59Speaker 5: or you can drop me an email. Dave dot Allen
- 48:01Speaker 5: at wvradio dot com. Dave dot allenwvradio dot com. A listener,
- 48:06Speaker 5: James James, reached out to me about something I said
- 48:09Speaker 5: on the air last week concerning the death of Hulk Hogan,
- 48:13Speaker 5: and I told you only the important topics here. First
- 48:16Speaker 5: of all, let me say I'm always happy when listeners
- 48:18Speaker 5: reach out, whether they agree with me or not. A
- 48:20Speaker 5: listener named James was taking issue with me saying that
- 48:24Speaker 5: Hogan was an entertainer and not a wrestler. But as
- 48:29Speaker 5: James pointed out correctly, pro wrestling has always been about entertainment,
- 48:33Speaker 5: which is true. My point on the death of Hulk
- 48:36Speaker 5: Hogan was he was not a pro wrestler. He called himself,
- 48:40Speaker 5: by his own admission, a sports entertainer. In fact, the
- 48:44Speaker 5: former owner of the WWF later the WWE, Vince McMahon,
- 48:48Speaker 5: made it very clear that his company did not do,
- 48:50Speaker 5: in his terms, wrestling, his derogatory term for traditional pro
- 48:56Speaker 5: wrestling and pro wrestling fans, which he despised. Hul Cogan
- 49:01Speaker 5: testified in court in that famed steroid trial that he
- 49:05Speaker 5: did sports entertainment and not wrestling, and apparently he did
- 49:09Speaker 5: it very well. So I ain't hating on him for that.
- 49:13Speaker 5: But I'm an old school wrestling fan that spent thirty
- 49:16Speaker 5: years in the wrestling business, not the sports entertainment business.
- 49:19Speaker 5: There is a big, big, big difference, and that is
- 49:21Speaker 5: all I was saying about Hogan. James, I do very
- 49:24Speaker 5: much appreciate you reaching out. Well, that's what basically I
- 49:27Speaker 5: was saying, And I know millions and millions of fans
- 49:30Speaker 5: loves and adored whole Cogan and his brand of sports entertainment.
- 49:33Speaker 5: I was not one of them. I was involved in
- 49:36Speaker 5: the business for thirty years. I left in twenty seventeen,
- 49:41Speaker 5: i think it was, and quit watching the television product
- 49:45Speaker 5: in the early nineties. So it just didn't appeal to me.
- 49:50Speaker 5: And that's okay because it appeals to a lot of
- 49:51Speaker 5: other people. I'm an old school traditionalist, and in my opinion,
- 49:56Speaker 5: people like Vince McMahon Hule Cogan, although I do respect it,
- 50:00Speaker 5: yearly departed, took a giant crap on the business in
- 50:03Speaker 5: the early nineteen nineties and actually the eighties and basically
- 50:07Speaker 5: destroyed what was the pro wrestling business. And now we
- 50:10Speaker 5: don't have it anymore. We have it, it's on a
- 50:11Speaker 5: much smaller level. Now it's sports entertainment and people love it.
- 50:15Speaker 5: It's you know, doing well selling merchandise. That's what it's
- 50:19Speaker 5: all about. Old Cogan was actually a very good wrestler
- 50:22Speaker 5: when he wanted to be. If you go back on
- 50:23Speaker 5: YouTube and look at some of his work in Japan,
- 50:25Speaker 5: he actually was a very good wrestler. But when he
- 50:27Speaker 5: came to the ww evens Man said We don't do
- 50:30Speaker 5: wrestling here. We do sports entertainment, and that's when they
- 50:32Speaker 5: created this giant, buffoonish cartoon.
- 50:34Speaker 4: Character that he was.
- 50:36Speaker 5: So that's that's the different James. I do appreciate your
- 50:38Speaker 5: reaching out, though, Tex says, I will bet the person
- 50:42Speaker 5: who wrote that moronic text about a twenty three year
- 50:44Speaker 5: old adult being the head of the GOP has no
- 50:46Speaker 5: problem with a five year old child choosing their gender
- 50:50Speaker 5: and choosing to mutilate their body's a texture.
- 50:54Speaker 3: TJ.
- 50:55Speaker 5: Meadows and I only mutilate our bodies through the use
- 50:57Speaker 5: of cheeseburgers and French fries. How you doing, man hungry?
- 51:00Speaker 5: Now that you said that, how are you doing? What's
- 51:03Speaker 5: it's coming up on the Big Show today? So I
- 51:04Speaker 5: saw that you do have Chris Hamilton on the show today.
- 51:07Speaker 15: We do we'll talk about the EPA ondoing that key
- 51:10Speaker 15: climate change.
- 51:11Speaker 5: Let me let me jump in here. You're an energy guy, Hey,
- 51:14Speaker 5: all right, how big is this for the energy? Because
- 51:17Speaker 5: you got Hamilton on, I'm going to have Rupie Phillips,
- 51:19Speaker 5: the coal Senator, on the show today. They're pretty excited.
- 51:22Speaker 5: I haven't talked to Chris. I did talk to Rupy
- 51:24Speaker 5: this morning. How big a deal is this in your opinion?
- 51:26Speaker 15: I think it's extraordinary because it'll do a couple of
- 51:28Speaker 15: things current plants that may have trouble meeting greenhouse gas rules.
- 51:33Speaker 15: This decision saying that greenhouse gas is not harmful is
- 51:37Speaker 15: a context to roll back a lot of other rules
- 51:40Speaker 15: that have come from the Biden administration. Other administrations like
- 51:43Speaker 15: them or don't like them in terms of how fossil
- 51:47Speaker 15: fuel fired generation, both coal and natural gas are treated.
- 51:51Speaker 15: For existing plants in this country, plants to be built,
- 51:55Speaker 15: This rule, you know, would essentially say you don't have
- 51:57Speaker 15: to have carbon sequestration on new plant that you're going
- 52:00Speaker 15: to build if all of this goes through in the
- 52:02Speaker 15: long term.
- 52:03Speaker 5: So what does that mean?
- 52:04Speaker 15: Well, price of energy is gangbusters because we need so
- 52:06Speaker 15: much of it. We don't have enough of it, so
- 52:09Speaker 15: at a time when we need more, if you're lifting
- 52:11Speaker 15: rules that make it easier to keep existing plants in
- 52:13Speaker 15: place and build newer plants, it's got to be good
- 52:16Speaker 15: for the consumer.
- 52:17Speaker 5: You would think, all right, what else you got on
- 52:18Speaker 5: the show today? A whole bunch of stuff, Eric Tar
- 52:20Speaker 5: flat tax.
- 52:21Speaker 15: We'll talk TVT with Brad how Evan Hanson for the
- 52:24Speaker 15: other side of this EPA ruling stops by jam Pack show.
- 52:27Speaker 5: All right, sounds good. Coming up on this show tomorrow
- 52:29Speaker 5: again the police chief of Dunbar. They're trying to rebuild
- 52:32Speaker 5: their program there that has had a lot of problems.
- 52:34Speaker 5: But John Garton, very qualified guy. If anybody can do it,
- 52:37Speaker 5: it's John. He's going to join us to talk about
- 52:39Speaker 5: that on the show tomorrow. I'll be back today with
- 52:41Speaker 5: Metro News Midday powered by Slango Law thirteen News and
- 52:44Speaker 5: Tonight Live anchor Manda Bearon Amy with that coming up
- 52:46Speaker 5: at noon. Ryan Nicholson, our producer, thank you so much.
