- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie,
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: where a proverb a day keeps stinking thinking away.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Hi, I'm Ernie Lansford,
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: and I really do appreciate you joining us each weekday,
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: and I thank you for subscribing and sharing our podcast episodes.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: So, grab your coffee, tea, latte, soda, or water, and let's get started.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Today, I am reading from Chapter 3 of Marketplace Proverbs Volume 3, Ego,
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Humility, and the KPI that Matters the Most, that I published earlier this year.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So, let's start with Proverbs 3, verses 32 through 35, using the NIV translation.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Quote, End quote.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: That's Proverbs 3.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Verses 32 through 35 from the NIV translation.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You know,
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: we often look at the condition of the marketplace or the world or our community for
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: that matter,
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: and sometimes we can feel overwhelmed morally,
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: spiritually, economically, and relationally.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: It seems like everything could be in disrepair at times.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: There are There are walls that are broken down and trust is eroded
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: and relationships are frankly replaced with the click and ship transaction mindset.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I was studying the book of Nehemiah with a group of friends that I lead using
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: the YouVers and Bible app recently and the book of Nehemiah focuses on leadership.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Nehemiah led a group of Israelites in rebuilding the wall around their city.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Now, most of us might be tempted to analyze the entire wall,
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: the problem,
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: and then freeze,
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: which in my previous corporate speak is known as analysis paralysis.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: However, Nehemiah offers us a different perspective.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Each person was tasked with rebuilding the wall directly in front of their house.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: The priest, the workers, the people, each focused on their own section of responsibilities.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Reading Nehemiah 3.28, quote, the priest made repairs each in front of his own house.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And what happened?
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: In just 52 days,
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: the entire wall was rebuilt,
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: not out of ego,
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: not due to strategy slide decks,
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: but because of humility,
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: personal ownership, and faithful action, one section at a time.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: By the way,
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: when I said not out of ego,
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: that prompted me to insert something I read the other day,
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: that there is an acronym for ego.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Edging God out.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And wow, does that really sum it up.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: But let's continue.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: So it's similar to what Nehemiah did.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: We don't fix the brokenness in our corner of our marketplace or culture by shouting
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: about it or complaining about it or going on social media and saying, woe is me.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Instead,
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: we do so by starting with our part of the wall,
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: our relationships,
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: our conversations,
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: our presentations,
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: and attitudes toward customers, coworkers, and even our competitors.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we break down more barriers by building with a single brick of trust
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: through a simple partnership than by sending out a thousand messages.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: The KPI that matters most isn't public applause, it's private integrity.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Frank Laubach,
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: a missionary who helped 60 million people learn to read through
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: the each one teach one concept.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: He understood that he didn't attempt to reach the entire world in a single day.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Instead, he partnered with one person and challenged them to partner with another.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: And that's how we rebuild walls.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: That's how we rebuild trust.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you this question.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: What is your section of the wall?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Start there.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: That is where stewardship begins.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And that is where partner relationships are born.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Our customer success code for the day is you influence the marketplace for God and
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: By beginning with your section of the wall fruitfully,
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: humbly, and one relationship at a time.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Here's your action points for today.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Identify your wall.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: What's directly in front of you that needs repair?
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Trust, communication, consistency, attitude, relationships?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Action point number two is focus small.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Stay faithful.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Who?
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Is one customer, one team member, or one neighbor you can serve better today?
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: And then personalize Nehemiah's prayer.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Lord, strengthen my hands, then build what is yours to build.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And then reframe your KPI.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Today's success isn't measured by volume, but by values and significance added to others.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Let's pray.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Lord Jesus, thank you for this time.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Thank you for the opportunity for me to share my thoughts that you have given me
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: over the years and the ideas and the fact that I can share these here in a country
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: that has freedom of speech and we can do this without fear of the authorities.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Lord, Give me,
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: give the listeners
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: the courage to begin to rebuild the walls that are right in front
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: of us, whatever they may be.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Break down the barriers and rebuild trust,
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: rebuild relationships,
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: rebuild consistency, rebuild our approach to customer success mastery.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: We thank you.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you for joining me on this episode of Marketplace Proverbs and Coffee with Ernie.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: If this episode has been meaningful to you or added significance to you,
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: please consider sharing it.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: That's how we influence the marketplace for God.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: We truly do.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: And remember, chasing personal success is temporal.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Adding significance to others is infinite.
