- 0:40Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.
- 0:43Half hour hustle, yeah,
- 0:44we building that brand.
- 0:46Grab a plate, tune in now,
- 0:48you part of the fam.
- 0:53It's lunch time.
- 0:56What's going on, everybody?
- 0:57Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale and
- 1:00the Cowboy.
- 1:01What's up, yo?
- 1:01Yeah,
- 1:05so I literally just flew into my seat
- 1:08and launched the show.
- 1:10That is a fact.
- 1:11Vicky and Corey have been hanging out for
- 1:13a while.
- 1:13A couple minutes.
- 1:18Dude,
- 1:18I just got out of a meeting literally
- 1:21like a minute and a half ago.
- 1:23Yeah.
- 1:24and there's a guy there how do i
- 1:28describe this so our vendor we send a
- 1:31file to our vendor every quarter our
- 1:34vendor can't find it of course not they
- 1:36can't find it in the folder that they
- 1:38set up makes perfect sense even though we
- 1:41have all the receipts that it went to
- 1:42the folder that they set up so our
- 1:46ois guy is trying to like figure out
- 1:49a way to get them back to
- 1:52where they're supposed to be right and as
- 1:54he does everything in the meeting he talks
- 1:57to himself in this mumble whisper as he's
- 2:00doing every thing and i'm on camera trying
- 2:04not to lose my shit like one circus
- 2:09music should be playing over the top of
- 2:11this meeting because it is yeah exactly
- 2:17But the whole time he's well, I,
- 2:18I could move this over here and,
- 2:20and if they could just pick this up
- 2:21in this folder, like the whole meeting,
- 2:27I will say this in dad news defense.
- 2:29I talk to myself all day.
- 2:32I do too.
- 2:32But I,
- 2:34but I have a switch that like when
- 2:35I'm on a meeting with like eight,
- 2:37teen other people,
- 2:39I switched that talk to myself off.
- 2:42Yeah.
- 2:43if I'm talking to somebody, like,
- 2:45especially a customer in my head,
- 2:49so I'm talking to, I'm in sales,
- 2:50obviously.
- 2:51So, so insurance.
- 2:52So in my head, if I'm,
- 2:55if it's quiet,
- 2:57somebody is waiting for something for it
- 2:58to happen, right?
- 2:59Like, and I should be moving faster.
- 3:01So I'll be in the process of doing
- 3:02something.
- 3:02It's not anything I control.
- 3:04My laptop might be running slow.
- 3:05The internet might be running slow for
- 3:06what I'm trying to do.
- 3:07So,
- 3:09i'm turning and i'm waiting and um i've
- 3:11got this blue circle as soon as this
- 3:12blue circle gets done i guarantee it will
- 3:14be fine because i want to hurry up
- 3:15and get it done um so i talk
- 3:18to myself while talking to customers on a
- 3:21regular basis and as mark phillips is
- 3:25saying right here oh he looks at his
- 3:26keyboard while he types um i look at
- 3:30my keyboard while i type i shoot back
- 3:33and forth i'm not like straight up hunting
- 3:35and pecking
- 3:36I'm better than that,
- 3:37but I will look down, look up,
- 3:39look down, look up the entire time.
- 3:42My typing skills leave a lot to be
- 3:43desired.
- 3:46I am not like the fastest typer in
- 3:48the world,
- 3:48but I do not look at my...
- 3:51I'm hitting the backspace a lot when I
- 3:52type.
- 3:53So, okay, there's that.
- 3:54Yeah.
- 3:56But I'm not looking at it.
- 3:57I'm just...
- 3:59Oh shit.
- 3:59Backspace.
- 4:00And now with all this like AI shit,
- 4:02like it's trying to correct it for you.
- 4:04And a lot of times it does it
- 4:05correctly.
- 4:06And I'm,
- 4:06I've already hit the backspace cause I've
- 4:08messed it up.
- 4:08A hundred percent.
- 4:10Yeah.
- 4:11Especially on emails.
- 4:12It'd be like,
- 4:13it'll re-spell stuff as I'm going through.
- 4:15And as it's re-spelling it,
- 4:17I'm doing the same thing.
- 4:17I'm backspace, backspace, backspace.
- 4:21Man.
- 4:25Have you ever had autocorrect?
- 4:28or AI, whatever it is these days,
- 4:30just look at it and you go,
- 4:31I have no clue, dude.
- 4:34So like,
- 4:36you're not even close to a spelling of
- 4:38a word that makes sense.
- 4:40Yeah.
- 4:41Yeah.
- 4:41Yeah.
- 4:43I will say this.
- 4:46Not so much.
- 4:47I am a fairly decent speller.
- 4:50I would probably be Jason Hopper in a
- 4:51spelling bee.
- 4:52I'm just throwing that out there.
- 4:57One of my best friends used to work
- 4:59with this chick whenever he ran the dairy
- 5:02department at a grocery store.
- 5:03She worked over there.
- 5:06They follow each other on Facebook.
- 5:07He will send me her statuses from time
- 5:09to time because...
- 5:12Her autocorrect has packed up and left.
- 5:18Like her autocorrect looked at some of the
- 5:19stuff and was like,
- 5:20I don't know what this is supposed to
- 5:21be.
- 5:21I'm not even going to try and just
- 5:24deuced out.
- 5:25And it is some of the most,
- 5:26some of the funniest stuff I've ever read
- 5:28in my entire life because it's not
- 5:30cohesive whatsoever.
- 5:32There's no punctuation at all.
- 5:34Talking about her, her husband, boyfriend,
- 5:38whatever, and spells him out.
- 5:42h-e-m consecutively like every single time
- 5:47not just like oh i absolutely accidentally
- 5:49hit the e instead of the i which
- 5:50is on the opposite side of the keyboard
- 5:51or whatnot but i have it but i
- 5:55know peoples that have put it to you
- 5:57like that uh just for mirrors i've never
- 6:00wanted to use the phrase what the duck
- 6:02or duck you ever i've also never said
- 6:05what the heel
- 6:10Not even once.
- 6:12What the hell?
- 6:12Hold on.
- 6:13But not what the heel.
- 6:14Like H-E-L-L.
- 6:15Correct.
- 6:15Never happened.
- 6:19Not once.
- 6:20Yeah.
- 6:23What the heel do?
- 6:25Yeah, perfect.
- 6:27What the heel, dude?
- 6:30No, that's not a thing.
- 6:32It's not a thing I've ever said.
- 6:34Heel, yeah.
- 6:34There we go.
- 6:36There it is.
- 6:36There it is.
- 6:38Never once said that.
- 6:39So just let the people at Apple know
- 6:41that those are not actual phrases.
- 6:43Sorry.
- 6:45Not sorry.
- 6:46These are the things that have convinced
- 6:48me in my life that AI cannot take
- 6:51over.
- 6:53Well, here's the thing.
- 6:54If it tried, we'd be like, come on,
- 6:55dude.
- 6:56We know that's you.
- 6:57Right?
- 6:58Yeah.
- 6:58AI trying to take over would be like
- 6:59three kids in a trench coat trying to
- 7:01impersonate an adult at the bank.
- 7:02Like, it's just...
- 7:05Looking like McGruff the crime dog.
- 7:07A hundred percent.
- 7:09Unsteady on their feet the entire time.
- 7:11Yeah.
- 7:12There's giggling coming down from the,
- 7:14from the, the feet area.
- 7:15Like, no, dude, no, no, no way.
- 7:21Avera says,
- 7:23what does spellcheck have against us using
- 7:25expletives in our prose?
- 7:26Here's the thing, too, Avera,
- 7:28is that it'll learn how you type, right?
- 7:31And it'll want you to put in so
- 7:33many words.
- 7:34But as much as I use the F
- 7:35word on a daily basis,
- 7:38it still refuses to throw it in there.
- 7:43Like,
- 7:43whenever it knows damn good and well what
- 7:45I want to say, and same thing,
- 7:47I get to duck.
- 7:48No, dude, we're not talking about ducks.
- 7:50Sorry.
- 7:51Do you ever watch The Good Place?
- 7:54No.
- 7:54That's another one that's on Apple,
- 7:56isn't it?
- 7:57No, it was on NBC.
- 7:58Oh, no.
- 7:59Kristen Bell, Ted Danson.
- 8:02I know which one you're talking about.
- 8:04He's in like purgatory or whatever.
- 8:06Well,
- 8:07the thought is that they went to heaven,
- 8:08right?
- 8:09Yeah.
- 8:09But they call it a good place.
- 8:11And there's twists and turns to it all.
- 8:13None of that really matters.
- 8:14But you cannot swear in the good place.
- 8:17So if you try to swear,
- 8:20it forces your dialect to say another
- 8:22word.
- 8:23And so the F word in the good
- 8:25place is fork.
- 8:28So everything's, what the fork?
- 8:30That's fantastic.
- 8:35That is good stuff right there.
- 8:38It was a great show, by the way.
- 8:41You can almost bet that if it's on
- 8:43network television,
- 8:44I probably have not seen it if it's
- 8:46not college football.
- 8:48That's about as far as I get on
- 8:49network television.
- 8:52Yeah, it's...
- 8:54I'm surprised it was on network television
- 8:56because it,
- 8:57it was at a level that was not
- 8:59what typically makes the network primetime
- 9:02schedule.
- 9:02Right.
- 9:02Like gotcha.
- 9:03It, it was a little bit,
- 9:05I don't know.
- 9:07I think they call it prestige TV.
- 9:09Like it's like the script writing is just
- 9:12so good.
- 9:14And, um, just really,
- 9:16really good above and beyond what you'd be
- 9:18used to.
- 9:21Um,
- 9:23i don't even know what the hell to
- 9:24talk about i did want to talk about
- 9:25this um i told you like i love
- 9:28to listen to the glintons but like their
- 9:30start time is always always when it's
- 9:33dinner time with my wife yep and i
- 9:35don't take my phone to the table i
- 9:37try to like unplug from everything and and
- 9:41that is our half hour forty five minutes
- 9:44to just be together sure right
- 9:46and uh so last night i i flipped
- 9:50it on saw that you had the jeremy
- 9:51wi-fi again and they just got rid of
- 9:54you where no where it cut off i
- 9:57was getting onto the interstate and it
- 9:58happens to me right there almost every day
- 10:01Initially,
- 10:02I jumped on and I jumped in the
- 10:04wrong room because I just went back on
- 10:06my phone and pulled up StreamYard and it
- 10:08pulled up an old show.
- 10:10And so I went on there and it
- 10:11was like, the show has ended.
- 10:13And I was like, no, it hasn't.
- 10:14So I was sitting in a group and
- 10:17I was like,
- 10:18are y'all not going live?
- 10:20And Garrett texted me back, he's like, oh,
- 10:22we are live, dude.
- 10:23So I went back and got in.
- 10:25And normally what I would do is instead
- 10:26of getting on interstate,
- 10:27I would just take airlines,
- 10:29different highway,
- 10:29which has better service.
- 10:31But yeah, I got up,
- 10:32I was enjoying myself.
- 10:34That's the best part about it is that
- 10:36enjoying myself, you know,
- 10:37cutting up with everybody and whatnot.
- 10:39And then literally I got to the red
- 10:40light and it just all through everybody's
- 10:42screen went black.
- 10:42And I was like, well, there that goes,
- 10:44that sucks.
- 10:47Well,
- 10:47what I wanted to talk about is Joseph
- 10:50and Meg were doing a rundown of all
- 10:52of their weekend and week at the CrossFit
- 10:56Games with the ranch.
- 10:58They did the ranch tour.
- 11:00All the people they met running into
- 11:03Michelle LaTondra at Whole Foods.
- 11:05Which is wild.
- 11:07All the fun stuff, right?
- 11:10And this happened when I was listening to
- 11:12the Glintons last year on my way home
- 11:13from Albany.
- 11:15They were so excited about all the people
- 11:17they meet.
- 11:21I've lost that wonder.
- 11:23Me, personally.
- 11:25I have lost that wonder in all the
- 11:28stuff that they've experienced.
- 11:31I'm so jealous.
- 11:33Sure.
- 11:35How did I let it get away?
- 11:39I'm thinking about all the people that...
- 11:44I'm not here to humble brag or anything
- 11:45like that.
- 11:46I've worked really hard in this
- 11:49in this thing to make something of this
- 11:51podcast.
- 11:52Sure.
- 11:53And I've met a lot of people.
- 11:55And I volunteered at Rogue to be a
- 11:58part of their documentary team so I could
- 11:59see what their media looks like on the
- 12:01back end.
- 12:02I worked at Morning Chalk Up for a
- 12:05minute.
- 12:07I did everything I could to learn as
- 12:09much as I could about the thing.
- 12:11And then they're talking about getting
- 12:14Emily Rolfe's phone number.
- 12:16And I'm like, oh, yeah,
- 12:17I have that because...
- 12:19we've been friends for a long time.
- 12:22Yeah.
- 12:22And I,
- 12:23and I can't figure out like how to
- 12:28reconnect to that.
- 12:29Like, I love the sport.
- 12:31I love watching everything on the floor,
- 12:34but the wonder in the,
- 12:35in the excitement of meeting all these
- 12:38athletes.
- 12:39And, and, and I wonder too,
- 12:41that as I'm getting older,
- 12:42I'm having a harder time connecting with
- 12:45the up and coming athletes because they're
- 12:48so young.
- 12:49Yeah.
- 12:50Yeah.
- 12:50I mean, Ty Jenkins is what, twenty?
- 12:54Just as I mean,
- 12:55he's been in the law since twenty one.
- 12:57He's on seven this morning and someone was
- 12:59like, so you're twenty.
- 13:00And I went, holy smokes,
- 13:01this kid's twenty.
- 13:02He's been in the games twice.
- 13:05I understand.
- 13:05Same after judging many of them.
- 13:07I don't really get starstruck.
- 13:09I do get excited when I meet the
- 13:10Masters athletes that I've become friends
- 13:11with.
- 13:13Like I had,
- 13:14I do get that excitement in the masters
- 13:17and Joseph even said like his knees
- 13:19buckled with when he met the OGs of
- 13:21the sport.
- 13:23Right.
- 13:23The Kristen Clevers, the, the Becca Voits,
- 13:27all that.
- 13:28Right.
- 13:29And, and I can relate to them more,
- 13:33you know, they're masters athletes.
- 13:34I'm a masters athlete.
- 13:36Um, it's hard for me to like,
- 13:38try to find something I can relate to
- 13:40with Sydney Smith.
- 13:45she's younger than your daughter right
- 13:50yeah i'm not putting anybody on a pedestal
- 13:53i i i'm not trying to put anybody
- 13:58but
- 14:01I think it's more about how it translates
- 14:03to what we do.
- 14:04Like,
- 14:04I want to be excited about the things
- 14:06I, I do.
- 14:08Yeah.
- 14:09It's not that I'm putting them on a
- 14:10pedestal.
- 14:11I want to be excited to get to
- 14:12know them.
- 14:13And I think I'm having a hard time
- 14:15figuring out what that connection is
- 14:17anymore.
- 14:17Like I just stopped doing interviews.
- 14:20Like,
- 14:25I've got to figure that out.
- 14:26I think that is my goal in the
- 14:28upcoming months is to figure out how to
- 14:32get some excitement back.
- 14:34I love doing this show every day.
- 14:35I'm excited about doing this show every
- 14:36day.
- 14:37I'm excited about doing the Sunday show
- 14:39with Carolyn and Jamie.
- 14:42I mean, is it just to do it?
- 14:47is it just to get back into it
- 14:48and just schedule it and just the thing
- 14:50that you're really good at every time you
- 14:52introduce it is just having a straight up
- 14:55conversation with people right you're not
- 14:57asking them you know what's your favorite
- 15:00color and you know how many grams of
- 15:02protein did you eat a day and all
- 15:04of that kind of stuff like you just
- 15:05sit down and people feel like at home
- 15:07with you i feel i feel like anyway
- 15:10and it's it's a really easy conversation
- 15:12so i
- 15:13Maybe,
- 15:14and this is just me talking out of
- 15:15my ass here,
- 15:17but maybe it's just that you schedule some
- 15:20people.
- 15:21Some people that you might find
- 15:22interesting because the people that you
- 15:23find interesting aren't necessarily the
- 15:24people that everybody else finds
- 15:25interesting most of the time.
- 15:28You interview a whole lot of people for
- 15:31different reasons.
- 15:33Vera says, okay, I hear you.
- 15:35Let's get back on track.
- 15:36Let's get Gabby on the show and ask
- 15:37her why she bailed on the games.
- 15:39she uh she i'll get right on that
- 15:42a very she texted me back last week
- 15:44and she said she'll text me back next
- 15:45week it's fine uh shannon wants to know
- 15:48if i'm burned out i'm not burned out
- 15:50like i was excited to meet to talk
- 15:51to shanna yeah like she's in my chat
- 15:54every day getting to see her made me
- 15:57more excited than the elite individual
- 16:01games things
- 16:04Who I wanted to see the most were
- 16:05my friends like Ariel and Emily and those
- 16:08people that I've made connections with and
- 16:13long-standing relationships with.
- 16:17Yeah,
- 16:18so I think maybe it's just a case
- 16:19of finding some of the newer people
- 16:22Learning a little bit about them and
- 16:24deciding, yeah,
- 16:25I want to know more about that person.
- 16:27If something kind of grabs you and goes,
- 16:28oh,
- 16:30I didn't know that this person had
- 16:32whatever this is going on,
- 16:34maybe that would be interesting to talk to
- 16:35them about.
- 16:36Because otherwise,
- 16:37it's going to just be the same recycled
- 16:39type of stuff that everybody talks to
- 16:41everybody about all the damn time.
- 16:45So Joseph's comment, can you pull that up,
- 16:47Vicky?
- 16:49Would it be beneficial to maybe take a
- 16:51step back and be a fan next year,
- 16:54not having to worry about getting pissed,
- 16:55pictures or video?
- 16:57I can see how someone can get lost
- 16:59in that.
- 17:00So I don't know if you noticed, Joseph,
- 17:01but I did not even bring my camera
- 17:03to the arena on Sunday.
- 17:04I was just about to say,
- 17:05we talked about this yesterday.
- 17:07You didn't actually do any of that.
- 17:09You kind of sat down and was- So
- 17:10I did do that on Friday.
- 17:13I was trying to get pictures.
- 17:15And then Ishmael was crushing it.
- 17:19And I'm like,
- 17:19you're an idiot trying to even match what
- 17:22he's putting out there.
- 17:25And so Sunday,
- 17:26I really did just sit and watch.
- 17:28And I did enjoy that a whole lot
- 17:32more.
- 17:35um well you get to be a fan
- 17:37which is what you were in the first
- 17:38place right you gotta go kind of go
- 17:42back to it and like that's how any
- 17:44any of us got started doing this just
- 17:46i was a fan of the actual sport
- 17:48you know methodology sport the whole nine
- 17:50yards and to be able to sit down
- 17:52and go
- 17:53i'm not here to take pictures i'm not
- 17:55here to get an interview from every single
- 17:57person as they come off the floor i
- 17:58am just here to enjoy the races i'm
- 18:02just here to enjoy what these people are
- 18:03doing that's got to be a whole thing
- 18:07yeah and i love doing shows it's it's
- 18:09i think the interview thing and
- 18:13I'll be honest,
- 18:14the back end of doing an interview sucks.
- 18:17And Joseph and Meg can probably relate
- 18:19because they do a lot of that for
- 18:21the Glintons, the reaching out,
- 18:22the scheduling,
- 18:23trying to get it to fit in your
- 18:25schedule and their schedule.
- 18:26Yeah.
- 18:26And let's be honest,
- 18:31the athletes are not the best in getting
- 18:33back to you.
- 18:35No.
- 18:36Right.
- 18:38You're one thing that's on their list of
- 18:41thirty things that they're working on.
- 18:44Yeah.
- 18:45And especially right now or leading up to
- 18:47the games,
- 18:48you probably weren't on their list of
- 18:49things to do.
- 18:50Right.
- 18:52And I mean, not you in particular,
- 18:53just like anybody who's reaching out was
- 18:55probably not real high on their list of
- 18:56things to do.
- 18:57That's why I love doing the semifinal
- 18:59athletes when it was organized and you
- 19:02knew who was going where because they they
- 19:05never get this opportunity.
- 19:06They were excited to come on.
- 19:08They got back to you right away.
- 19:10Like those were good.
- 19:11I don't know.
- 19:14I didn't mean for today to be a
- 19:15therapy session, but I thoroughly,
- 19:18thoroughly enjoyed listening to Megan
- 19:21Joseph talk about how awesome the games
- 19:23were.
- 19:25Yeah.
- 19:26And to be fair,
- 19:27they also got to go to the ranch.
- 19:29They did.
- 19:31Which, for me,
- 19:33I would probably have some fanboy stuff
- 19:36going on if I got to go, like,
- 19:38holy smokes.
- 19:39Like, you know, there's the hill.
- 19:42When I saw the picture of Meg with
- 19:44Pukie in the barn,
- 19:48I want that picture of me.
- 19:50And one of the things I wanted to
- 19:52ask him about yesterday,
- 19:53and I didn't get a chance to,
- 19:54is that
- 19:55I'm willing to bet you can feel the
- 19:58history whenever you get over there.
- 20:00Right.
- 20:01Because like,
- 20:02I'm sure Dave still got shit just
- 20:04scribbled on whiteboards and, you know,
- 20:06blocks of stuff still laid out and
- 20:08whatnot.
- 20:08And like,
- 20:10If you just sit there and be still
- 20:11enough,
- 20:12you can probably feel the history just
- 20:14kind of all around you because a lot
- 20:17of crazy stuff go down to that place,
- 20:19not just whenever they hosted games there,
- 20:21but just from all the testing and the
- 20:23other things that have gone on from over
- 20:26there.
- 20:26I would be willing to bet it's a
- 20:29pretty good time.
- 20:32Smell the old sweat in the barn,
- 20:33says Shanna.
- 20:34Yeah.
- 20:35not ignoring your comment of era um i
- 20:38love seth jump ship i think he's one
- 20:39of the smartest uh most um he he
- 20:46conveys a message much better than most
- 20:48people seth is amazing right like i think
- 20:52he's very articulate that's what i i
- 20:54wanted to say very articulate in the way
- 20:56he speaks and i would love to have
- 20:58him on and chat with him at some
- 20:59point yeah um
- 21:02he's extremely articulate um he cuts he
- 21:06pulls no punches whenever he says what's
- 21:08on his mind he says what's on his
- 21:10mind um I like that a whole hell
- 21:12of a lot and I liked his work
- 21:13with Nickelback but that was pretty good
- 21:16too uh when he said when he still
- 21:19had the haircut Ken and Walter says it
- 21:22was the funnest games uh of the eight
- 21:25he's been to but he got to do
- 21:27so much extra stuff
- 21:29he did i think he did the ranch
- 21:30tour too and he got the vip package
- 21:33to be able to go out on that
- 21:35wednesday uh yeah i already uh talked
- 21:41about that one vicky um uh joseph says
- 21:48you can you get the chills when you
- 21:49pull up and walk up to the barn
- 21:53the one thing i don't ever want to
- 21:54experience is running up that hill
- 21:57would yeah but uh your running skills and
- 22:02my running skills do not even come i
- 22:05want to run i want to run up
- 22:06the barn uh you know throw a wall
- 22:09ball at the side of the you know
- 22:11at the side of like maybe not um
- 22:16you know maybe i do some of the
- 22:17other insanely crazy stuff they did but i
- 22:20would definitely want to run the hill
- 22:23Just to see,
- 22:23because everybody talks about how steep it
- 22:25actually is.
- 22:28Pictures and video don't do it justice,
- 22:29blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 22:30I get all of that,
- 22:31but I would like to run it.
- 22:33And by run it,
- 22:34I mean probably walk most of it,
- 22:36because it's... Yeah.
- 22:41I did a warrior dash back in the
- 22:42day here in Ohio at a ski resort.
- 22:47And the first run was up the ski
- 22:49slope.
- 22:50Up the ski slope?
- 22:51Yeah.
- 22:51Yeah.
- 22:52No, thank you.
- 22:53No way to just take the wind out
- 22:55of a big man's sails,
- 22:56then make him run up a ski slope
- 22:58to start a. To start.
- 22:59Yeah.
- 22:59What are you going to do?
- 22:59What are we going to do to begin?
- 23:03Well, to begin,
- 23:04we're going to go that way.
- 23:06And then the whole time I'm up on
- 23:08the top of this mountain going,
- 23:10when do I get the downhill run?
- 23:12Come on, man.
- 23:13Yeah, for real.
- 23:14I need gravity.
- 23:14Yeah.
- 23:20I think the original leaderboard was up,
- 23:22all that kind of stuff.
- 23:25Ed AI says,
- 23:25my leg still burned from that hill.
- 23:27I ran it in twenty three.
- 23:30I don't know who you are, Ed AI,
- 23:33but you seem to have done a lot
- 23:35of cool things in this space.
- 23:42One percent.
- 23:44You'll change your mind once you see it.
- 23:45I thought about all the athletes that have
- 23:47run up and down this hill.
- 23:51I still want to run it, too.
- 23:52I still want to run it.
- 23:53I think he's talking to me.
- 23:54Oh.
- 23:55I think he's saying, like,
- 23:56when you see and you look up.
- 23:57When you see it, you'll be like,
- 23:59I can do that.
- 24:01Yeah.
- 24:02Big man uphill running is a recipe for
- 24:04an EMT call.
- 24:05Yeah.
- 24:05That's fantastic.
- 24:10I know Seth was on Barbell Spin last
- 24:14night.
- 24:14I saw that the CAC put out the
- 24:16recommendations.
- 24:18here's a thing that's i'm and i here
- 24:20we go i'm going to be negative and
- 24:22i don't want to be i love the
- 24:24recommendations that they put out for the
- 24:26elite athletes but there is not a thing
- 24:29to help out the masters not not even
- 24:32a not even a glimpse of a suggestion
- 24:35not even a pat like in a passing
- 24:37oh here we go not even something in
- 24:39passing where it's like oh and by the
- 24:41way um yeah it
- 24:49it is such a show on the on
- 24:50the on the master side right now with
- 24:53a lot of things the season structure a
- 24:57lot of stuff and i what season structure
- 25:01and this will probably get clipped and and
- 25:03hurt me in the long run but it's
- 25:05fine jason grubb is the only masters
- 25:07athlete representing on the the cac and he
- 25:10doesn't represent most of the the masters
- 25:13athletes he is one of the very few
- 25:15masters athletes that are sponsored
- 25:18He runs a massive programming camp that
- 25:24is, it seems like,
- 25:26half of the Masters competitors.
- 25:29He's not in the same position as the
- 25:33Corys and the Jamies,
- 25:36like trying to struggle to pay their way
- 25:39to an opponent.
- 25:42Right.
- 25:43Well, Carolyn just won first prize money,
- 25:45right?
- 25:46But she still has a job,
- 25:50a career that she goes to and whatnot.
- 25:52And I've heard her talk about having to
- 25:54find time off and having to...
- 25:58It's not even the same category, dude.
- 26:00It's really, really not.
- 26:01Shanna has said this a couple of times.
- 26:02He does not represent me or my interests.
- 26:05Same.
- 26:07Right.
- 26:07And so...
- 26:10If that's your only representative on the
- 26:12CAC because everybody knows his name,
- 26:15it's not effective for the Masters.
- 26:18Stands over here saying he's not the only
- 26:20Masters athlete on the council.
- 26:21Well, who's the other one then?
- 26:23Because I'm super curious about that.
- 26:25Because I asked that question,
- 26:26and the name I was given was Jason
- 26:28Grubb.
- 26:29Yeah.
- 26:33That's the only one I've known to have
- 26:34been on it.
- 26:36So if he's not the only one and
- 26:38we have two men, okay.
- 26:40Who's the other one?
- 26:41Cause I really on,
- 26:42I legitimately do not know.
- 26:46Okay.
- 26:47I love Becca Voigt Miller,
- 26:50but she doesn't represent the majority of
- 26:52the athletes either.
- 26:53Like she's spent the games,
- 26:55she's OG CrossFit.
- 26:57Like, okay.
- 26:59John Kim,
- 26:59maybe that's a good representative.
- 27:01I don't know.
- 27:05It just seems like when you look at
- 27:07the recommendations from the CAC,
- 27:08the Masters are completely forgot about.
- 27:10Well,
- 27:11they didn't mention anything about it,
- 27:13so how can anybody say that they haven't
- 27:16been?
- 27:18Is John Kim the dude that's on the
- 27:19other Masters podcast,
- 27:21the one that's prerecorded?
- 27:25I don't think so.
- 27:25I could be wrong.
- 27:29I don't think so.
- 27:32But yeah, okay, see,
- 27:33what Mark's saying makes sense.
- 27:39He's the only one that you hear
- 27:41information about the CAG from.
- 27:44As far as us is concerned, like, yes,
- 27:48okay, Becca Voigt-Miller's on it.
- 27:49John Kim's on it.
- 27:50Cool.
- 27:51Awesome.
- 27:54I've never heard either of them say
- 27:56anything about it on any one of their
- 27:57platforms,
- 27:58and I know I follow Becca Voigt-Miller.
- 28:02Shana makes a point that no older athletes
- 28:05are represented on the, on the CAC.
- 28:06There you go.
- 28:09Why not have a, Oh, what's his name?
- 28:13Mr. Long hair, no mobility.
- 28:14Gosh, darn it.
- 28:17David Hippenstiel.
- 28:18Hippenstiel.
- 28:19Yeah.
- 28:20But there's a lot of people out there
- 28:21that don't have those names.
- 28:22Like why not?
- 28:24Why not?
- 28:27Yeah.
- 28:28She's a doctor.
- 28:30Yeah.
- 28:32Why not Denise Moore?
- 28:34There's another one.
- 28:36Yeah.
- 28:39I agree.
- 28:43And look, nothing against those people.
- 28:47Whatsoever.
- 28:48But like, out of the three,
- 28:50there's only one you ever hear anything
- 28:52about or as any sort of forward facing
- 28:54thing about as far as our representation
- 28:57on that thing.
- 28:58And whether they like it or not,
- 29:00we are athletes.
- 29:03we are competing we are the ones pumping
- 29:06all the money into this thing that the
- 29:09elites just won because i really and i
- 29:13know it's the term because it's the those
- 29:15are the elites or whatever but shannon
- 29:18bunce is elite denise moore is elite david
- 29:23johnston is elite it is voted on it
- 29:26is voted on so
- 29:30You've got to vote for the people you
- 29:32want on the on the CAC as well.
- 29:34How do we even vote?
- 29:37So there's the divisional representation.
- 29:43Right there.
- 29:49Three masters.
- 29:52Three adaptive.
- 29:56Think john kim is masters not adaptive.
- 30:00Yeah, Kim Miller and Grubber, the masters.
- 30:03Yeah.
- 30:06I think the others are adaptive.
- 30:15Anyway.
- 30:19What else do I want to say?
- 30:23I don't know.
- 30:25We have t-shirts.
- 30:27I started bagging some this morning.
- 30:32probably get some out this afternoon
- 30:34hopefully but there is the qr codes if
- 30:39you'd like to order on venmo or cash
- 30:40app they're thirty two dollars if you're
- 30:42in the united states that includes
- 30:44shipping and handling and they'll be
- 30:48handled very nicely by the way it'd be
- 30:50handled with care um gently folded and put
- 30:56into the bag
- 30:58so if you want to do that just
- 31:00when you send me your venmo put your
- 31:03name your address and your size in the
- 31:06comments i did learn that cash app doesn't
- 31:08have a big huge memo section so if
- 31:12you're using cash app you can dm me
- 31:15your name your size slide into the dms
- 31:19and make sure that when you do that
- 31:22that you identify the fact that you
- 31:24already sent money via cash app
- 31:26Yeah, I would say in Cash App, say,
- 31:28see my DM for the information.
- 31:33Because Mr. KDL used Cash App yesterday,
- 31:36and he could not fit all of his
- 31:38information into the memo section.
- 31:40That's how we learned that yesterday.
- 31:43So thank you, Kenneth DeLapp, for that,
- 31:45for buying a shirt and helping me discover
- 31:49the limitations.
- 31:55Or make one dollar payment so you can
- 31:57write a bunch,
- 31:57get this man a reading again.
- 32:01If it's not a book, it doesn't count,
- 32:02Mark Phillips.
- 32:03He reads comments all day long.
- 32:04It's not the same thing.
- 32:06You would have to write all your comments
- 32:08on paper, bind them,
- 32:10get them in a cover,
- 32:11and then mail them to Scott's house so
- 32:13he could read them like that.
- 32:16um do you do we think the elites
- 32:18get too much prize purse if so why
- 32:20is that a problem outside of the reason
- 32:22of it's not fair or we are the
- 32:24ones pumping all the money in so do
- 32:29i think the percentage that the elites get
- 32:32comparison is out of line no because they
- 32:36fill the seats they fill the arena that
- 32:39is money revenue streams that the masters
- 32:41are not getting two
- 32:46My issue with the prize purse is it
- 32:48is way too much for first in comparison
- 32:51to the rest of the field.
- 32:53Yes.
- 32:54I think it needs to be a little
- 32:57different across the rest of the...
- 33:01The breakdown needs to make more sense.
- 33:04Period.
- 33:05Because it doesn't currently.
- 33:07And as far as that's concerned, no.
- 33:09I don't think that the fact that we
- 33:10pay most of the money in there and
- 33:12a lot of it goes to first place
- 33:15on the men and women is a big
- 33:17deal.
- 33:17I think the fact that we pay most
- 33:19of the money that goes into it and
- 33:21a lot of the people I talk to
- 33:23had a less than games feeling experience
- 33:27over the weekend is where the problem
- 33:29comes in.
- 33:32Yeah,
- 33:32where you had the lower bowl filled at
- 33:35the SAP center, people were paying five,
- 33:38six, eight hundred dollars,
- 33:40ranch experiences,
- 33:42VIP packages and another three hundred
- 33:45dollars a day.
- 33:47There was money coming in at the SAP
- 33:49center for the elites.
- 33:50Yeah.
- 33:52It's just the first place Masters winner
- 33:56makes more than the fifth place elite
- 33:59individual games athlete.
- 34:01Right.
- 34:01Which is the first place,
- 34:05which the dude who won first in forty
- 34:08five forty nine is not going to take
- 34:09fifth on overall.
- 34:10Yeah.
- 34:12And that's really only because I don't
- 34:14know if you guys know this,
- 34:15but the prize purse changes as you go
- 34:17up in age.
- 34:18Yeah, it does.
- 34:21So that's a quote of the thirty-five to
- 34:23thirty-nine-year-old division.
- 34:27And that's what Mark's saying right there.
- 34:33The Masters game should feel like a games
- 34:35competition, not any old comp.
- 34:37Agreed.
- 34:38I think we've beat that horse to death.
- 34:41I will continue to beat it until there's
- 34:43no horse left.
- 34:46Three hundred K even after taxes is
- 34:48borderline life changing money to someone
- 34:50who is good with their money.
- 34:52One second and third got off.
- 34:56One second and third after taxes is
- 34:58absolutely all after all the sacrifice
- 35:01made.
- 35:03Maybe saying is that what's what second
- 35:05and third place got after taxes compared
- 35:07to what first place got after taxes and
- 35:09whatnot.
- 35:09Daniel, that is in fact true.
- 35:12I would agree to that.
- 35:13Having said that,
- 35:14with it being in California this year,
- 35:16the first place person,
- 35:18even at that three hundred K,
- 35:19didn't get anywhere near three hundred K.
- 35:23Yeah, Carolyn.
- 35:25Carolyn got hit pretty hard.
- 35:27Yeah.
- 35:29saw that speaking of which i did watch
- 35:32the uh the sunday night show that turned
- 35:34into the tuesday night show yesterday and
- 35:38uh had a conversation with miss with miss
- 35:41jamie latimer afterwards and sweet baby
- 35:45was it too much and i said nope
- 35:47not at all because all she said is
- 35:50what the majority of us
- 35:53matt competitive masters athletes were
- 35:55thinking she just said it out loud and
- 35:57she yelled it at her laptop whatever it's
- 35:59fine he had to talk with her last
- 36:04night too um one other thing speaking of
- 36:07jamie and carolyn we did the donations for
- 36:10them with the uh super chats
- 36:14I did not announce.
- 36:15You guys are freaking awesome.
- 36:17The chat is awesome.
- 36:18We raised four hundred eighty three
- 36:20dollars for them.
- 36:23I rounded that up to five hundred.
- 36:25And they each got two fifty for their
- 36:27trip to the games.
- 36:30So I appreciate you all so much for
- 36:33donating to that and helping the cause to
- 36:36get them there.
- 36:39We have the best viewers on the viewers
- 36:42slash listeners.
- 36:44Viewers slash listeners.
- 36:46Did we talk about that live?
- 36:49The person that you ran in that introduced
- 36:50themselves to you that was only listening
- 36:54and then watched an episode.
- 36:55Did we talk about that live?
- 36:57I talked about it on one of my
- 36:59shows at the games.
- 37:01Okay.
- 37:02I didn't remember.
- 37:03Joseph Ramirez says, Heel, yeah.
- 37:05Heel, yeah.
- 37:07The Chatterbytes.
- 37:11um am i the only hit one here
- 37:13it gives a about the rules um judy
- 37:21reed says she'll do the same when corey
- 37:23goes can you tell this so shana bunce
- 37:27has given her games jersey she says she's
- 37:30a friend hold on to a friend last
- 37:35last year okay and
- 37:39then that person who had been trying to
- 37:41make the games made the games so this
- 37:45year what happened corey she messaged me
- 37:49earlier this week i'm asking for my
- 37:52address because she's going to send me her
- 37:53games jersey from twenty two on one of
- 37:56her games jerseys from twenty two she said
- 37:58you don't want the one from this year
- 38:01i'm assuming that means it was all sweaty
- 38:03still
- 38:05She said she's going to try to get
- 38:06it in the mail today,
- 38:07as a matter of fact.
- 38:07So when it gets to me,
- 38:10I'm going to put it right up in
- 38:12this area, mount it right up right there.
- 38:16I'm touched over the moon.
- 38:19I don't even know what to do about
- 38:22that necessarily,
- 38:23other than to mount it somewhere where
- 38:25everybody can see it.
- 38:30It made my heart happy.
- 38:34um so meredith saying savon had james
- 38:38hobart on hobart made it sound like uh
- 38:41the masters was an amazing experience
- 38:43meredith i heard it differently i heard
- 38:49him say could i be critical could i
- 38:52nitpick sure but at the end of the
- 38:55day i had a good time competing i
- 38:57love competing he loves competing
- 39:01Period.
- 39:01He's also in a position where he's not
- 39:03going to be able to comment on it.
- 39:05I was about to say that the famous
- 39:08clip, I say famous clip,
- 39:09my favorite clip of him whenever he was
- 39:12on the Best Hour Guys and he said,
- 39:14maybe I'm towing the party line here.
- 39:16And we say, you know, CrossFit works,
- 39:18that whole thing.
- 39:20It's because he works for CrossFit.
- 39:23It would not be in his best interest
- 39:25to go on a podcast and be like,
- 39:28oh, no, it was stupid.
- 39:30Also,
- 39:31he's got years upon years upon years of
- 39:35CrossFit Games experience.
- 39:38So for him to show up and like,
- 39:40yeah, I mean, it was okay, whatever.
- 39:42It's just another thing for him.
- 39:45He says he turns off all the outside
- 39:47stuff and just does the... Yeah.
- 39:51the job in front of him that's how
- 39:53he looks at it um yeah so so
- 39:58he just knocks it out and does what
- 39:59he does and i like to think that
- 40:01when i get there i will do the
- 40:03same thing like who gives a shit about
- 40:05the rest of it i want to be
- 40:06there because i want to be competing
- 40:08against the best in the world will i
- 40:11be able to i hope so got my
- 40:12fingers crossed for that but we'll see
- 40:19Hobart does not just go on a podcast.
- 40:20He gets paid to be on a podcast.
- 40:22He's been on this podcast and I didn't
- 40:23pay him a dime.
- 40:25Not in the least.
- 40:26He's been on Glinton's a couple of times.
- 40:27I can guarantee you Garrett and Colleen
- 40:29did not slide him a twenty.
- 40:34It was a fun interview too.
- 40:35Really enjoyed it.
- 40:37Hobart's great, dude.
- 40:40I've never seen him on
- 40:42anything where i was like this is stupid
- 40:44and he shouldn't be on here when they
- 40:45were doing the news on the seven podcast
- 40:48like back in the day when you go
- 40:49jump on a sunday night and they do
- 40:50the news it was one of the funniest
- 40:52things i i had seen at that time
- 40:54it was great
- 40:56I'll tell you about James Hobart.
- 40:58First of all,
- 40:58I met him when he was on the
- 40:59Mayhem team when I was volunteering back
- 41:02in the day in Central East, right?
- 41:04But anyway, I had him on the podcast.
- 41:08This is the kind of person James Hobart
- 41:09is.
- 41:10He comes on and he starts talking about
- 41:13me and my background and my history.
- 41:17He had done research on me coming on
- 41:20my podcast where I was going to ask
- 41:22him questions.
- 41:23Okay, I love that.
- 41:27I love that.
- 41:27Yeah.
- 41:28And that's the kind of dude he is.
- 41:29Yeah.
- 41:31Yeah.
- 41:34So there it is.
- 41:35He's just a good dude.
- 41:38Super, super smart.
- 41:40I mean,
- 41:40the dude was in law school before he
- 41:42quit.
- 41:44Which is...
- 41:47Which if you've heard him,
- 41:48if you heard him on any kind of
- 41:49show,
- 41:49like after you hear him talk a little
- 41:51bit and realize how intelligent he is,
- 41:52it tracks.
- 41:53But then at the same time,
- 41:55with some of the stuff that comes out
- 41:56of his mouth, he's like,
- 41:57and this dude was going to be a
- 41:58lawyer.
- 41:59Okie dokie.
- 41:59Got it.
- 42:00Tracking.
- 42:00Makes sense.
- 42:02Hobart is like one of our elder statesmen
- 42:03in space.
- 42:04He is.
- 42:05Yeah.
- 42:05Even though he's like,
- 42:06he's been around a lot of shit.
- 42:08You know, he's like forty one.
- 42:11He already knows about himself.
- 42:12You're more interesting.
- 42:14That's how you feel when you're around
- 42:15him.
- 42:16And honestly, Rich does that same thing.
- 42:19You're there to talk to Rich.
- 42:21You want to meet Rich,
- 42:22and then he starts asking you questions.
- 42:26But yeah,
- 42:28can you imagine being the parent of James
- 42:30Hobart?
- 42:31Kids in law school,
- 42:32you're puffing the chest out.
- 42:35Got my kid in law school,
- 42:36and he says,
- 42:37I want to quit and become a coach.
- 42:40I'm going to become a coach of this
- 42:41fitness thing that's going on and may or
- 42:45may not be a good thing.
- 42:46I'm not real sure.
- 42:47That's outstanding, dude.
- 42:50And made it work, right?
- 42:52He's wildly successful at what he does,
- 42:55still gets to compete,
- 42:56still working for HQ.
- 42:57Yeah, that's insane.
- 43:02Averis says, okay,
- 43:03let's get Hobart and Seth on the show.
- 43:04We can solve all the problems in CrossFit
- 43:06in one hour.
- 43:10So get Mark Phillips up there.
- 43:18Get John Gleish on.
- 43:19For those who don't know who John Gleish
- 43:21is,
- 43:22john glyce is in my my age group
- 43:24okay um he's got his own uh youtube
- 43:28channel mf mustache uh because he's got a
- 43:31big curly handlebar fancy mustache or
- 43:33whatnot john we i was talking to him
- 43:37this weekend and we were talking somebody
- 43:38else john is probably the fittest dude
- 43:40this master's athlete i know of anyway
- 43:42who's never made the games yet
- 43:45um he's a good dude he is an
- 43:47excellent human being humble as the day is
- 43:50long um and i was laughing uh so
- 43:53there's the the twenty the twenty sixteen
- 43:57and twenty seventeen documentary when
- 43:59they're talking to pat uh about matt
- 44:01fraser and pat goes he's so frustrating
- 44:05john john gleiss is
- 44:08that frustrating because i beat him in
- 44:10every online qualifier that i've ever done
- 44:14that he's also signed up for by like
- 44:16two or three spots and he's beaten the
- 44:18breaks off of me in every competition
- 44:19we've ever actually been in live i would
- 44:22love to have john john on here and
- 44:24i'm sure he'd love to be on here
- 44:25uh david johnson says i act i asked
- 44:28him it's actually pronounced like like
- 44:29mike but that's not as fun to say
- 44:31it's not as fun to say and i'm
- 44:33aware of the fact that i'm aware of
- 44:34the fact of how it's actually pronounced
- 44:36but i don't think anybody actually does
- 44:38that and that's on purpose like john
- 44:40gleish wears galoshes is way much more fun
- 44:43to say than yes yes he is an
- 44:48absolute animal it is it's wild
- 44:53He looked the hundred fifty meter swim
- 44:55over the weekend at Monster Games.
- 44:57He side stroked the entire thing and
- 45:01finished with ten seconds left.
- 45:03Head out the water the whole time.
- 45:09Is what it is, man.
- 45:09Bro, it's it's it's bananas anyway.
- 45:15Yeah.
- 45:16Yeah.
- 45:18We've been at this for forty five minutes
- 45:20already.
- 45:20Holy cow.
- 45:21Yeah.
- 45:22And I haven't really said anything.
- 45:24We could get David Johnson on the show
- 45:25if we needed to.
- 45:27But I did run into your buddy Brandon
- 45:32in at the Masters games.
- 45:33Oh, I like it.
- 45:35Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:37And he came up and introduced himself to
- 45:39me, which is still weird in my world.
- 45:43And I've had him on the show before.
- 45:45But I said, you know,
- 45:46you need to come on.
- 45:48And he said, oh,
- 45:48I'd love to come on and have fun
- 45:50with you and Corey.
- 45:51Yeah.
- 45:51I said, but let's be honest.
- 45:53Like, how much does Corey bug you?
- 45:55Like, is it every day?
- 45:58Is it twice a day?
- 45:59Right.
- 46:00Is it four times a day?
- 46:02I'm so curious as to this answer.
- 46:04Yeah.
- 46:07he just started laughing yeah that's all
- 46:09like he didn't even answer the question no
- 46:14uh i will i'll answer it for you
- 46:16several times a week put it to you
- 46:19like that several times a week is usually
- 46:22is usually and it's usually behind
- 46:23something either ridiculously silly or uh
- 46:27or actually legit a legitimate question
- 46:29fifty fifty shot and he's aware of that
- 46:32so
- 46:34uh joe valens in the chat uh didn't
- 46:37get to see him at the games he's
- 46:38one of my favorite people to to bump
- 46:40into i know he was out there killing
- 46:42it uh but didn't get to see it
- 46:44yeah
- 46:46Mark Phillips saying that you probably ask
- 46:49Brandon, is this doable?
- 46:51Are you sure this is doable?
- 46:53Here's the thing is that I'll tell him
- 46:55what I'm going to do as opposed to
- 46:57what he actually wrote.
- 46:59I usually get a really or no,
- 47:02that's probably a good idea.
- 47:05Depending on what it is.
- 47:08But I did ask him to be on
- 47:10the show and I said that you would
- 47:11reach out to him to schedule a time.
- 47:13Oh, okay.
- 47:14So I put that on you.
- 47:16Yeah, let's do it.
- 47:17I'm glad you told me about that live.
- 47:18Yeah.
- 47:20So now the pressure's on.
- 47:21No pressure.
- 47:22I will get it and I'll take care
- 47:23of it.
- 47:24Not a big deal.
- 47:26Yeah, I don't know if you know this,
- 47:27but we have company meetings live on the
- 47:29air.
- 47:29That way I can kill two birds with
- 47:31one stone.
- 47:33This is actually why we got Vicky in
- 47:34the back so that we can do this
- 47:36live and not have to worry about doing
- 47:37it later.
- 47:38Right.
- 47:39Exactly.
- 47:43So...
- 47:45Yeah.
- 47:46I was going to talk about James Sprague's
- 47:48legacy.
- 47:50You know, we've, we've looked at,
- 47:52but I don't know if we have enough
- 47:53time to get into it a bunch,
- 47:54but I'll,
- 47:54I'll let's just tease it for tomorrow.
- 47:57Okay.
- 47:59So in the history of CrossFit,
- 48:01if you're a multi games winner,
- 48:03your legacy is kind of cemented as one
- 48:05of the greats.
- 48:06Sure.
- 48:07But as CrossFit gets older and older and
- 48:10older is, is two enough, right?
- 48:15Do we put James Sprague in Justin
- 48:18Medeiros' basket?
- 48:19Do we put James Sprague in Rich's basket?
- 48:23Do we put him in Matt's basket?
- 48:26Or are we getting to an age of
- 48:29the sport where two may not be enough?
- 48:34And where I come up with this is
- 48:35we're getting into football season.
- 48:39It used to be if you won two
- 48:41Super Bowls, like you were Hall of Famer,
- 48:45No doubt about it, right?
- 48:47Eli Manning won two Super Bowls,
- 48:49can't even get into the Hall of Fame
- 48:51now.
- 48:52Which is bananas crazy, by the way.
- 48:55Right, so like, so do we,
- 49:01has he cemented a legacy,
- 49:04is my question to you all, yet?
- 49:06Or does he have to put together,
- 49:08because he has three podium finishes.
- 49:11Yeah, he does, in consecutive years.
- 49:14Three consecutive years,
- 49:15three consecutive podiums,
- 49:17two championships.
- 49:21Man, I like that.
- 49:24I think the test this year was by
- 49:26far the most complete,
- 49:27placing him higher than Medeiros.
- 49:31Yeah, but help incentive,
- 49:32the test all would have been worth a
- 49:33hundred points.
- 49:34That one would have won.
- 49:34I'm sorry, I can't help myself.
- 49:40And if this microphone was made of ice
- 49:41cream,
- 49:42I wouldn't have anything to talk into.
- 49:45Thank you.
- 49:48Oh.
- 49:51Tessa's saying he will if he wins Rogue.
- 49:56Do we factor in Rogue on Legacy?
- 49:58That's the question I was going to ask.
- 49:59Do you need to factor in Rogue?
- 50:01These are all the things I want you
- 50:03to do some homework tonight on and come
- 50:06back tomorrow,
- 50:07and we'll have this lengthier
- 50:09conversation.
- 50:10Because maybe James has cemented his
- 50:12legacy,
- 50:13but does it diminish Medeiros' legacy?
- 50:17Does Justin have to do more?
- 50:21I think people still are expecting Justin
- 50:23to do more because he won two in
- 50:25a row.
- 50:26He looked really good this weekend.
- 50:28He did.
- 50:29And it wasn't enough to get on the
- 50:31podium.
- 50:38uh fergie says i think spreger showed he
- 50:39can go heavy and fast so he is
- 50:42the total package now
- 50:49so uh i'm not a i'm not i
- 50:51don't buy into the jy thing because he
- 50:54went all in on austin hatfield and austin
- 50:57hatfield hadn't showed shit ain't did much
- 51:02so i was telling the people i don't
- 51:04know what those words mean no you don't
- 51:08even follow him yourself i would i i
- 51:13He's another one that's frustrating
- 51:14because he could finish on the podium or
- 51:16he could finish thirtieth.
- 51:18There's no shot.
- 51:20Can he finish on the podium?
- 51:21Because I haven't seen that.
- 51:23He hasn't proved that to me.
- 51:24Capability of finishing top five podium,
- 51:27whatever you want to call it.
- 51:30But also seventeenth.
- 51:31Had to get out his own way.
- 51:34Yes, thank you.
- 51:36He's not better than James.
- 51:37He's not better than Hopper.
- 51:38He's not better than Dallin.
- 51:40He's not better than Jay Crouch.
- 51:43No.
- 51:43He's not better than Medeiros at this
- 51:45point.
- 51:47No, and I wouldn't have seen that coming.
- 51:51Hell, he's not even better than Colton.
- 52:00I would not be shocked if Austin Hatfield
- 52:02never hits the top ten again.
- 52:07I'm not saying he won't.
- 52:08I'm saying I wouldn't be shocked.
- 52:10Yeah, I would agree to that.
- 52:13I'd have agreed to that going in.
- 52:17I think Hatfield has the tools.
- 52:18He just struggles to execute.
- 52:20Yeah, I agree on that one.
- 52:22That's sports.
- 52:24Jeff George was drafted number one overall
- 52:29in the NFL.
- 52:31Had the strongest arm,
- 52:33had the physical body to take hits and
- 52:38do all the things,
- 52:39and was a complete flop because he was
- 52:42a head case.
- 52:43Because he was a head case, yeah.
- 52:45Speaking of Colton,
- 52:46did we know he could fly before this
- 52:48weekend,
- 52:49or is that just something that's brand
- 52:52new?
- 52:55Dude, if that's me,
- 52:56that picture's getting blown up.
- 52:58Is it?
- 52:59It's going along the whole back wall.
- 53:01That would be my whole backdrop.
- 53:03Oh, yes, indeed.
- 53:07Yes, indeed.
- 53:08That is maybe top five pictures of all
- 53:11time.
- 53:12Yeah.
- 53:12That goes right up there with Kalipa,
- 53:14Rich,
- 53:15and was it Matt Chan shirtless at the
- 53:18pool?
- 53:19Yeah,
- 53:19I told my buddy Jason Vines when we
- 53:23were at, before we left,
- 53:24like two weeks before we had to leave
- 53:26to go to Monster Games and said, hey,
- 53:27you know that picture of Rich Kalipa and
- 53:31Matt?
- 53:31I said,
- 53:31we need to recreate that while he's at
- 53:32the pool.
- 53:33He's like, yeah, we're not doing that.
- 53:36It was Bobby or like, yeah,
- 53:38I think for you and I are the
- 53:39only ones that even know what that
- 53:40reference is.
- 53:42Dude,
- 53:42there's been several like that that come
- 53:44out of college and was like number one,
- 53:46number two, number three draft pick,
- 53:48and everybody's all excited and whatnot,
- 53:50and then they just disappear.
- 53:54Can you go back to the John George
- 53:55one real quick?
- 53:58When Hogs Fly poster.
- 54:01Well, you know, like,
- 54:02so there used to be a rogue poster,
- 54:04but my boy Jeff still has it, of,
- 54:06like, Rich doing the split jerk.
- 54:09Or maybe in the walking lunge, he's got,
- 54:10like, four hundred pounds over his head,
- 54:12had the full Rich bandana and whatnot.
- 54:14That would be a fantastic rogue poster of
- 54:17just him just stretched out.
- 54:20I believe I can fly.
- 54:22Like,
- 54:22reaching out for that freaking button,
- 54:24dude.
- 54:25That is outstanding.
- 54:27If Vindicate doesn't design a shirt with
- 54:29that image, big loss.
- 54:31Yeah, I agree.
- 54:31Get on it, Travis.
- 54:32Get on it, Travis.
- 54:42I haven't seen this.
- 54:43Can you pull it up?
- 54:44Not right now.
- 54:46We'll have it tomorrow.
- 54:49i'll take these on david vicky's on it
- 54:51yeah biggie's on if she can't find it
- 54:53next two minutes i'll text it to you
- 54:55david not a big deal jake uh that
- 55:00rich poster has so many so much history
- 55:03sunglasses on gymnastics tape made into
- 55:05grips glad mark knows what i'm talking
- 55:07about just like right off the bat dude
- 55:08that's a fantastic picture if you've been
- 55:10around the sport you know that yeah
- 55:14I was so into the Rich Froning thing
- 55:16when I first started CrossFit.
- 55:18I had the bandana.
- 55:19I had the necklace thing,
- 55:22whatever they were called.
- 55:23The puka shell, baby.
- 55:24No, not puka shell.
- 55:25I was version two, the braided... Oh,
- 55:28the braided hemp.
- 55:31And...
- 55:33I had the Rogue board shorts,
- 55:35the whole bit, right?
- 55:37The big Terminator.
- 55:38And I wanted the...
- 55:40They were like sunglasses that they sold
- 55:42at the games and sponsored the games,
- 55:45but they were made of metal.
- 55:46Like,
- 55:47even the lenses were this super thin
- 55:48metal.
- 55:51And I wanted them so bad.
