- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk

- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts. Right now.
- 0:15Welcome back to the Three O Take presented by SeatGeek DISSES
- 0:18Episode 415. I'll be your host, Kyle Cord.
- 0:20And I'm here with my Co host, Nate Reyes.
- 0:25Nate, hey. Let's go, man.
- 0:31Feels good to be back. Welcome to new peeps.
- 0:35Welcome to old peeps. Welcome to baby peeps, little
- 0:40peeps, sweet peeps. Peeps.
- 0:45Do you like peeps by the way, those marshmallow things?
- 0:50That's a very controversial, controversial question coming
- 0:53right out of the gate here. I could do without.
- 0:56Get it? If I'm being honest, I don't get
- 0:59the hype. No, I don't get why.
- 1:02It's like why is it a duck? Why is it only seem to come
- 1:08around Easter time? This is the season of Peeps, so.
- 1:12I'm just very confused with with the entire organization of
- 1:15peeps. I don't, I didn't mean to be
- 1:19controversial right out, right out the right out the gate here.
- 1:23But you know, someone's gotta ask these tough questions.
- 1:27Somebody's got to ask these questions and somebody has to
- 1:30bring a close to the fantasy baseball applications for our
- 1:34league and I guess that person will be me.
- 1:36So it. Won't be.
- 1:38Making, Making the Announcements Applications for the Three O

- 2:38Head to youtube.com/the at sign three O take.
- 2:45That's our social handle and go ahead and subscribe links in the
- 2:48bio as well. Nate, I got some big news from
- 2:51last Tuesday I don't know if you saw.
- 2:56Six days ago hit me with it. It happened the day after we
- 3:00recorded last it. Always does John Heyman heard of
- 3:05him. Hit me with the block on
- 3:07Twitter. Yes.
- 3:10It finally happened. It finally happened, just adding
- 3:13to the list of blocks that I've received.
- 3:16But let me ask you this. Let me ask you this is is this a
- 3:20warranted is this a warranted tweet at him?
- 3:24He he posted a link to some article that I I think he'd
- 3:27written for the Who's he with the the freaking New York Times
- 3:33post? I don't know.
- 3:35And the the description for the article says Juan Soto gives
- 3:42full throated endorsement for Yankees to sign his Padres
- 3:46teammate Blake Snell. And then I quote tweeted that
- 3:50tweet and said Juan Soto gave what?
- 3:58And then I went back to check the tweet and John Heyman had
- 4:00blocked me. Now please, please tell me if
- 4:05I'm wrong here, but is that not like?
- 4:08Is that not a valid question? Is this a common phrase?
- 4:15First of all, full throated? I never heard that in my.
- 4:18Life. Nope.
- 4:20Nope. Full throated.
- 4:23And so I say he did what? And then he blocks me.
- 4:27That's all it took. That's.
- 4:30I mean, it's not like it's your first quote tweet.
- 4:37It's not like your first, I won't say shade throne 'cause
- 4:43this wasn't a whole lot of shade.
- 4:44This was just simply shedding light on his own words.
- 4:48I I don't think just anything wrong with it.
- 4:51Dare I dare I Google that phrase to see if that's a commonly used
- 4:56thing? I.
- 4:56Really, I really don't suggest it.
- 4:58I wouldn't. Yeah, probably.
- 5:00Probably not Smart. There's just no way you can tell
- 5:04me. Anybody listening or John Heyman
- 5:07that that's a commonly used phrase.
- 5:09You. You can't.
- 5:12Yeah, I it makes me feel like like maybe he's, you know,
- 5:16those, like the older people like to use that, like voice
- 5:18text. Yes.
- 5:22Maybe he was saying something else, you know, full hearted,
- 5:27just a little far away from the phone.
- 5:29I don't. If that's the case, then don't
- 5:33block people if they they bring up a valid question as to what
- 5:37in the. World you're I gotta go and
- 5:39assume you weren't the only person blocked that day.
- 5:42No, I wasn't. Other people joined in unison.
- 5:46They they said I got the block too.
- 5:48I said I that's Scott Boris's puppet and clearly softer than
- 5:54Charmin. That's all I have to say.
- 5:55So just wanted to acknowledge that I got.
- 5:59The Block, right? John Heyman.
- 6:01This is John Heyman. So if John Heyman tweets
- 6:03anything, somebody will have to inform me because I, I, I, I
- 6:08don't have access to his material anymore.
- 6:10Which is basically down to like I I think I only like like Joel
- 6:13Sherman and Jeff Passan. Jeff Passan I mean that's that's
- 6:18the goat. But outside of Passan, I don't
- 6:22even Ken Rosenthal. I'm, I'm out on Ken Rosenthal.
- 6:30He's just all about giving credit to people that he gets
- 6:32his reports from. So it's like what are we even
- 6:35what what are we really even doing here, Ken.
- 6:38Yeah, it's it's really Jeff Passan for me.
- 6:40That's about it. I'm trying to go back here.
- 6:45And it's it's, I mean it's been pretty dry for Jeff Passan as of
- 6:50late. Not much going on.
- 6:51Boris's guys are still out there, minus Matt Chapman.
- 6:56Matt Chapman has signed a three-year, $54 million contract
- 7:00with the Giants. I know I texted you asking if
- 7:04this had moved the needle for you at all, to which I was met
- 7:09with a resounding not the slightest.
- 7:14So I would, I would, I would like to ask why this doesn't
- 7:17move the needle for you. Because I before you, before you
- 7:20explain, I'm seeing, I'm seeing comments and responses from
- 7:26Giants fans that are saying this is one of the the better
- 7:29offseasons they've had in a long time.
- 7:31I'm not. I'm.
- 7:34I will give them credit for doing something.
- 7:38I'm not going to harp on them for like being inactive.
- 7:41They're they're trying. I will give them credit for
- 7:44trying. It's just the random unnecessary
- 7:51fits. Like you have like 5 third
- 7:53baseman and like 7 outfielders and you just keep signing the
- 7:57same freaking types of players and you don't even have a
- 8:00rotation. You don't have a full rotation
- 8:05like was third base that big of a need?
- 8:08I don't I don't know what we're doing.
- 8:12I I just, I can't figure out the direction then.
- 8:18Even if they didn't have third baseman outside of like May last
- 8:26year. Matt Chapman just doesn't.
- 8:29I don't see it. I don't even think he made it
- 8:33into May. I think it was.
- 8:34I think it was the month of April.
- 8:36April where he's just absolute like if there was an All Star to
- 8:40be given out like if he could gotten that award that quickly
- 8:44he would have. But he just fades, dude.
- 8:46And like I I don't know. I, I I think you could have
- 8:53gotten similar not quite up to that level but similar defense
- 9:02from Brandon Crawford for a lot cheaper.
- 9:06If you really needed the third baseman to play good defense,
- 9:09could have just brought him back.
- 9:10He wanted to be back and they said no.
- 9:15I just I The offensive numbers don't do it for me, for Matt
- 9:20Chapman than a big ballpark. I mean, it's it's tough to look
- 9:32at your offseason if you're the Giants and and say, I mean,
- 9:38would you say this is their marquee signing?
- 9:42I'd like more. So I like Jorge Salier more as
- 9:46far as the signing goes unless in terms of full package, yeah
- 9:50and this is all this is all null and void if they can manage to
- 9:54land Snell or Montgomery which either I I don't understand what
- 10:02go get one of those guys you don't have a rotation.
- 10:08I saw that Snell the The latest on the Snell sweepstakes is that
- 10:14he's down to San Francisco and the Angels.
- 10:26Why? I don't know.
- 10:29They're the only teams that are willing to pay him at this point
- 10:33because every all 28 other teams are waiting for his price tag to
- 10:36come down to basically zero. And look, credit to the league,
- 10:40Credit to the league on both Snell and sticking it to Boris.
- 10:45Credit to them to to the league for waiting it out on both Snell
- 10:49and Montgomery. Because the league collectively
- 10:54as a whole, calling the bluff of Scott Boris, left and right.
- 11:01And then you see the report that came out today that said
- 11:04apparently four Was it from Montgomery that four new mystery
- 11:10teams are in on Montgomery now or like they're they're kicking
- 11:13the can on Montgomery? I go, OK, no.
- 11:15Yeah, nice try. And you want to know who who
- 11:18started that Scott, Boris. So how?
- 11:22How people can't see through that, that it's beyond me.
- 11:26If that is, I mean, if I see Snell or Monty, to be honest, if
- 11:31I see either of them sign for a Cody Bellinger S contract, 2-3
- 11:40years with multiple opt outs, I'm gonna be pretty surprised
- 11:46because like, there's a lot of teams that can do that, that
- 11:50need to do that. Giants being one of them.
- 11:55So I'd be surprised if this doesn't.
- 11:58I mean, well you know how this works.
- 12:00We're recording today. One of them will sign tomorrow.
- 12:02That's just how it goes. If not later tonight.
- 12:06I I just. I don't know.
- 12:08I'm going back to the Giants. Just tying a bow on it.
- 12:10I I just again, I'm a little confused with how things are
- 12:14going. I Are you platooning Wilmer
- 12:19Flores and and Lamont Wade at first is is Wilmer Flores
- 12:23getting time at 3rd? Is Jorge Solaire being forced to
- 12:28get 20 or 30 games in the outfield just to clear up the DH
- 12:32spot? I I I don't.
- 12:35I don't know what's going on. What do you do with JD Davis?
- 12:37What do you do with Michael Conforto?
- 12:39What do you do with your Who's the young third baseman last
- 12:44year, Louie? I don't remember.
- 12:51Whatever. I just.
- 12:52Talk about Marco, not Luciano, Luciano.
- 12:59No, he's playing short the damn it.
- 13:02Who is it? KC, please hold.
- 13:09Just please hold. You do your thing.
- 13:11You send me JD Yeah. JD Davis.
- 13:14JD Davis, which is a name that I wanted to bring up because going
- 13:19back to my original point of if you're the Giants, you would
- 13:24hate to think that your Marquis signing, assuming you think Matt
- 13:30Chapman over Jorge Solaire is your Marquis signing, you would
- 13:33hate to think that he's gonna slide in in the bottom half your
- 13:36lineup 'cause I'm looking at A at a projected lineup right now
- 13:42one through 9. Casey Schmidt.
- 13:45Sorry Matt. Matt Chapman has slotted 6th in
- 13:48the lineup playing third. Yeah and like I I'll give them
- 13:53credit like again they're they've made moves I've I
- 13:57actually I'm gonna retract I I probably like the Jung Ho Lee
- 14:01signing more than Solaire just because of like top of the
- 14:07lineup and I I like the idea of you need Bop in that lineup but
- 14:12you also need some bats ball skills and you know anytime you
- 14:16play anytime you sign a center fielder that's going to play
- 14:19every day and be at the top of the line up it's like that's a
- 14:23that's a great sign. I just don't see where they have
- 14:29depth a lot of depth defensively and offensively.
- 14:33I just don't see like you keep doing these things when you're
- 14:36not getting pitchers or pitchers that can pitch right now.
- 14:41No, I mean, I would have thrown Jung Hui into the Marquis
- 14:44signing conversation. But we say with all of these
- 14:46guys, you can't you can't throw them.
- 14:50You you can't assign them that title or put them into that
- 14:54conversation when we haven't even seen them yet.
- 14:57So for me, I you either got to go with Matt Chapman or or Jorge
- 15:02Solaire. Matt Chapman's a Platinum Glover
- 15:04and that's what they went and got him for.
- 15:06They didn't get him for his offense, and for a guy who
- 15:09struggles to maintain consistency on the offensive
- 15:12side of the ball, that's not exactly the greatest park to
- 15:15throw a guy in to do that, to fix that.
- 15:19But you also heard the reports of like they wanted to go get JD
- 15:23Martinez after the Solaire signing.
- 15:26And JD was like, no, I don't want to go there.
- 15:29Probably 'cause you already have a full time DH.
- 15:32It's. There's like JD, JD Martinez
- 15:34didn't want to go there because it's SAN.
- 15:35Francisco, multiple reasons. And I don't blame him if we're
- 15:38being honest. OK, I fully just.
- 15:40Want to make sure we're on the same paycheck?
- 15:42I fully agree. But I'm just saying that there's
- 15:45no real sense of direction. And if they come out and prove
- 15:50everybody wrong and Matt Chapman finds a way to hit 315 and
- 15:56Solaire puts up 35 in that ballpark and Jordan Hicks
- 16:02becomes a frontline starter like I there's just so many question
- 16:07marks. This is a 500 ball club.
- 16:11The only the only thing that I can somewhat get behind.
- 16:17I I genuinely think Bob Melvin is not good with superstars.
- 16:24And I think that's what we saw in in San Diego.
- 16:27His success from Oakland days where there was a lack of
- 16:33superstars because it's Oakland to probably not knowing how to
- 16:38manage all the Divas in your in your dugout the way they had had
- 16:43gone in San Diego to now it's like hey, I think it there's a
- 16:47big group of veterans. There's a couple young guys in
- 16:50the mix without having to be, like in the spotlight the whole
- 16:56time. That's probably Bob Melvin's
- 16:57sweet spot. So I will give them at 500,
- 17:02slightly above 500. The offseason I I I'm seeing a
- 17:09lot of headlines and again to put a bow on this I'm seeing a
- 17:12lot of speculation thrown around that the Giants are done now
- 17:19this offseason despite the Snell talk which I'm sure stems almost
- 17:24solely from Boris just trying to get the get the bidding war
- 17:31going. But two things you have to do
- 17:35for me at least you gotta with with the log jams they have
- 17:39positionally, you gotta ship out JD Davis and I think the
- 17:42Mariners would be a fantastic spot for JD Davis.
- 17:47And you have to add another arm. We talked.
- 17:51It was like the first thing we brought up when we brought up
- 17:52the Giants. You got, albeit logjams.
- 17:56You have some depth positionally, but that rotation
- 18:01needs help. Logan Webb can't carry the
- 18:04weight all season long. He just can't do it.
- 18:08So it. Was the.
- 18:10Kyle. Harrison looks good.
- 18:13Kyle Harrison looks good, so I'm excited to see what that turns
- 18:18into. But, like, Cobb's gonna be out
- 18:19for a while. What was the.
- 18:23I don't even think he's active anymore.
- 18:25The poor, the poor kid that got an aneurysm in his arm.
- 18:31I think he was slotted to be like their four or five.
- 18:33Like Beck. I think it was something Beck.
- 18:35He had an aneurysm in his shoulder.
- 18:38So you know, it's just there. And like that's fluky stuff, but
- 18:42you're now at this point where there's there's enough time,
- 18:45there's names out there, you got to go do what you got to do.
- 18:48And if that means potentially shedding some some money, I'm
- 18:53not looking at contracts or numbers right now, but like if
- 18:56you got to shed a Conforto or shed a JD Davis to clear up some
- 19:01some cap, then do what you need to do.
- 19:03But I don't think they're anywhere near their, their
- 19:05spending limit, you know, I don't know, man.
- 19:09It's just a lack of sense of direction.
- 19:13I'll tell you a team that does have direction, my friend, and
- 19:16that's the Philadelphia Phillies.
- 19:17They see what they want. They go out and get it.
- 19:19Zach Wheeler? Goodness.
- 19:23A $126 million three-year extension that begins in 2025
- 19:30carries him through the 2027 season.
- 19:35He was set to go. This was the last last year of
- 19:38his contract. What was it That was a.
- 19:42So this is the the 5th and final season of that contract that
- 19:48that's for 118 million. So this like I said this will
- 19:50start the 2025 season. One of I mean it seems like a no
- 19:57brainer bringing him back. You can debate the money if you
- 20:00want but brilliant on behalf of the Phillies for not even giving
- 20:06him the opportunity to get to free agency.
- 20:09One of the best post season pitchers.
- 20:13Of of recent memory I saw a tweet from Codify today, said
- 20:17The lowest career postseason WHIP 40 plus total innings
- 20:21pitched, all of MLB history. You've got Sandy Kofax at 4,
- 20:28Kinley Jansen at 3, Mariano Rivera at two, and Zach Wheeler
- 20:33at the top of that list. A WHIP of A postseason WHIP of
- 20:39.726 lower than Mariano Rivera. That's nuts.
- 20:48Dude is nails. I know I like it.
- 20:51Postseason. I do.
- 20:53Like it? That's the thing.
- 20:55If you're the Phillies, you know you're gonna be in the
- 20:56postseason. So lock up a guy that's gonna
- 20:59benefit you come that time. This isn't.
- 21:02We're not talking about a fringe team here.
- 21:04The the Phillies for the next handful of seasons.
- 21:09I don't even have really a number, but I I would think the
- 21:12window is relatively sizable. Why not bring in or bring back,
- 21:18I should say, extend Zach Wheeler when you know you're
- 21:21gonna be seeing the calendar. Turn to October and you're still
- 21:25gonna be playing for the next however many seasons.
- 21:28Yeah, I'm looking at contract stuff right now.
- 21:34Nothing really coming off the books.
- 21:37Next year you got Matt Strom at seven and a half million. 2026
- 21:44is the year where they're gonna shed some weight, you know?
- 21:50I'm not sure what extensions will look like, but like JT
- 21:55Romuto, Kyle Schwarber, Whitmer Field, Sir Anthony Dominguez,
- 22:04Ranger Suarez, Gregory Soto, a lot of these names will clear
- 22:09off in 2026. Whether they decide to bring
- 22:14them back or not is a different story.
- 22:16But when you see that and those names that I mentioned like
- 22:2120/26/2020, seven more names kind of clear off.
- 22:27So yeah, that window is now. The Phillies need a ring within
- 22:36the next three years, 1,000,000%.
- 22:39There's no other way to put this because like that Now, at that
- 22:43point, you're probably fading out of Bryce Harper's prime.
- 22:51It has to happen. It has to happen in this window.
- 22:54So. It's gonna happen, Nate.
- 22:57It's gonna happen in the next three years.
- 23:04One of those years, 2024-2025? No, I'm going to say 4.
- 23:12We're going to run it through the end of this ext. 2027.
- 23:17One of those years is going to end with the Village World
- 23:22Series title. Zach Wheeler is also 33.
- 23:28For anyone wondering, just a just a thought.
- 23:32This is an older team. It's an older team.
- 23:43I mean, what's you? How old's you, Darvish?
- 23:45He's still giving you respectable numbers at his age.
- 23:50Yeah. So the age for Wheeler doesn't
- 23:53concern me as much. You Darvish, is 37 going to be
- 23:5628 here in a a little bit? 37 gonna be 38.
- 24:10Or August, so he'll he'll hit his age 38, later this summer.
- 24:14But I mean, he's giving you respectful numbers at that 37.
- 24:20Look, I get it. Props to props to the Phillies.
- 24:26We know what Dave Nabrowski can do, and I don't know, he might
- 24:33be a world class negotiator if he's walking into that owner's
- 24:38office and being like, I need to do this, I need to do this over
- 24:42and over again and he's and he's gotten multiple owners to be
- 24:46like, OK, here's my checkbook. It's crazy good for.
- 24:51You like I've, like I've said, how you can be a fan of any team
- 24:55that Dave Dombrowski is leading the charge with financially.
- 25:00How you could not be the biggest supporter of Dave Dombrowski?
- 25:07Blows my mind. I would give anything to have
- 25:11Dave Dombrowski back here in Boston, but he's doing his thing
- 25:16with the Phillies. But people want to talk about,
- 25:19Well, he just goes in, blows up the farm and brings in all the
- 25:24big guys. Well, I would rather watch a
- 25:27team with a bunch of big guys that are able to perform at a
- 25:32high level consistently, give you a chance to win a World
- 25:35Series year in and year out, then sit back and and praise our
- 25:41financial flexibility. That's really fun.
- 25:43I love, I love chatting with people when they ask, like, hey,
- 25:47you looking forward to this baseball season?
- 25:49I said not really, but we've got financial flexibility, so that's
- 25:52something to look forward to. That's really fun.
- 25:54That's a fun place to be in. That's really fun.
- 25:57I enjoy that. I I didn't do without the
- 26:00parades. Yeah, no, I don't need those.
- 26:03Don't need the parades. Don't need the World Series
- 26:05DVDs. Don't need the the the, the, the
- 26:12crack hit of postseason baseball in October.
- 26:15Don't need that. I just want financial
- 26:18flexibility and I. Want financial flexibility?
- 26:21I don't need Dave Dombrowski. I will say that this will most
- 26:25likely, this will most likely end badly for the last two to
- 26:33three years of Bryce Harper's career.
- 26:36It's gonna be a It's gonna be a long few years.
- 26:40That's what this is. That's absolutely what is gonna
- 26:43happen. Like you and.
- 26:44Not one Phillies fan. No, you don't care.
- 26:47Reasonable is gonna. Care if if you need one.
- 26:54If you need one to justify all of this.
- 26:57Yeah. So pressure is on for sure.
- 27:01Was Can you do a quick search for me?
- 27:04Was Dave Dombrowski in the mix in Detroit when they won in?
- 27:10Yeah, I think so. Was that O six?
- 27:14No. What year did they win it?
- 27:21They played the Cardinals in O six.
- 27:23I was it. They won in O 6, right?
- 27:25Am I completely misremembering this?
- 27:27You look up your thing, I'll look up my thing.
- 27:30Tigers from O2 to 15, so yeah. It was 2012.
- 27:34It was. Yeah, so he was in there, dude,
- 27:40this man's been in baseball a long time.
- 27:43Wait, no, they didn't. What am I?
- 27:45What am I talking about? No, they got swept in 2012.
- 27:49That. That's right.
- 27:49That was the Giants run. Holy cow, did they not?
- 27:55And then the Cardinals won in 2006.
- 27:57Has it really been this long for Detroit?
- 27:59Why am I completely misremembering this?
- 28:03That awesome No six too? Holy cow.
- 28:06Their last title was 84. I thought they got one I could
- 28:11have. Sworn they got one.
- 28:12Wow. I am completely misremembering
- 28:15that. Well, either way he he he put
- 28:21him. He put him in the dance and he
- 28:24got one in Boston, so. He got one in 97 with the
- 28:30Marlins and then Boston in in 18.
- 28:33So he's he's getting these titles that justify these moves,
- 28:38so he needs to do the same in Philly.
- 28:41Justify moves and like honestly, you can.
- 28:44Justify the spending. Probably assume it brings in
- 28:49more dollars, postseason appearances, even if it comes up
- 28:54a little short. It's got to bring in more money.
- 28:57Bring in superstars. It's we can make arguments about
- 29:03Castellanos and and Schwarber and and age.
- 29:11One could argue maybe it's slight lack of athleticism in
- 29:14certain ways, but they're going for it.
- 29:20And I I honestly, I I like the fact that they brought back Nola
- 29:28and it makes me feel like Wheeler getting this extension
- 29:31is just fully kind of taking the ball and stepping into like I'm
- 29:35the ace now. I think Nola was a one for them
- 29:39for a while, just never really like got over the hump and was
- 29:43like, I'm dominant. I'm top five in baseball.
- 29:47You just never really got there, so I like it.
- 29:52It goes back to your point. We talked about this across
- 29:56various rotations. Is he a number one?
- 29:58Is he an ace? Zach Wheeler fits the bill of an
- 30:01ace. Yeah, there's only a few aces in
- 30:03baseball, maybe 10. Not everyone's got an ace.
- 30:12I love what the feelers are doing, man.
- 30:13That is. That is an exciting baseball
- 30:17city at this point in time. They got a lot to look forward
- 30:22to. Josh Donaldson has retirement to
- 30:25look forward to. Finally, we have rid ourselves
- 30:30of Josh Donaldson. Am I more excited than you?
- 30:36Oh, I I I wish. I I I needed him to.
- 30:43I needed to feel. I needed another fan base to
- 30:46feel the pain that I felt over the last few years.
- 30:52Oh, I can't express how annoying I am at that move and how
- 31:03annoyed I am that he got so much playing time and he got paid for
- 31:10what he did in like, freaking 2015.
- 31:15That guy swindled. I mean, you came, you, you can
- 31:22only take that so far because you came at you.
- 31:25You were, I don't want to say, defending him, but you were
- 31:29tolerating him there for a good bit.
- 31:33I, Whether by choice or not, you were you were tolerating that
- 31:38more than I would have. Yeah, I had to tolerate it.
- 31:43Solid defense. I kept seeing the the videos
- 31:48circulating today on Twitter of pimp jobs, the balls not getting
- 31:54out of the park, which there are a couple of those that are fake
- 31:57by the way. Definitely not real cause I've
- 31:59watched those games and I know the ones that he got, but there
- 32:03were some fake. There were some bad pimp jobs
- 32:05for sure. Definitely.
- 32:07I won't miss that. I don't know.
- 32:11I don't know man. I got nothing left to say about
- 32:14him. The guy, just very polarizing
- 32:19figure, you know, I did hear a detail.
- 32:27Where did I hear it? It was, what was his name?
- 32:34He's the guy. He covers the Mets and the
- 32:36Yankees. Martino.
- 32:39Yeah, Martino. I was listening to him on a
- 32:41podcast and he was talking about the You remember the moment
- 32:46where last year Rodon like blew a kiss to a fan when they were
- 32:51playing the Angels. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:54I didn't realize this, but apparently the night before it
- 32:59was the fan was like sitting next to his daughter and just
- 33:02screaming curse words at Yankees players and like, screaming at
- 33:06Donaldson. And finally, Donaldson, like
- 33:08turned around and he's like, are you really OK talking this way
- 33:11next to your daughter? And he just like kept, you know,
- 33:15yelling at him and screaming at him.
- 33:17And then the next day is when Rodon blew the kiss.
- 33:20So I didn't realize there's more to that story, 'cause I
- 33:23obviously didn't like it, 'cause Rodon, you know, was kind of a a
- 33:28dope last week or last year. But but either way, I I gotta
- 33:33look, love him or hate him. Josh Donaldson spoke his mind
- 33:39and he played the way he wanted to play.
- 33:47I can't. I can't argue that.
- 33:49I can't argue that you say love him or hate him.
- 33:51I can't say I I hate him strongly.
- 33:54Dislike. Oh yeah, hate his.
- 33:57Thing to see your point. I I cannot.
- 34:01I cannot argue the fact that he he played his game some, but I'd
- 34:08say more than some there. There's probably a good
- 34:11percentage of guys around the league that don't, during the
- 34:14length of their, during the duration of their career, don't
- 34:18get to a point where they're truly playing their game their
- 34:22way and in their style. Josh credit to him, tip of the
- 34:27cap, took no time at all to get to that point where he's playing
- 34:33his game his way. That's all.
- 34:35That's all the guy was known for, and it it manifested in
- 34:40various forms. You know, running his mouth,
- 34:43getting into little scuffles here and there, dropping quotes,
- 34:48throwing some shade, 'cause he correct me if I'm wrong.
- 34:53Wasn't he throwing shade on the coal situation?
- 34:58Or no, it was with the sticky stuff, wasn't it?
- 35:04Was this Pre? Wasn't he throwing shade on
- 35:06coal? Pre.
- 35:07Yankees. He was.
- 35:08Yeah, when he was with Minnesota.
- 35:10Yeah. Yeah, so I mean he he was known
- 35:15for the sound bite here and there and he played with a
- 35:17little bit of flair to put it nicely on the field.
- 35:22I mean, he was going to let you know when he got into one.
- 35:25He was also got, like you said he was going to let you know
- 35:27when he didn't quite get into one, but he thought he got into
- 35:30one. That was just the way Josh
- 35:31Nonson played. The biggest thing in my social
- 35:36media findings that I came across today.
- 35:39I don't think I'd ever dug into the 2015 ALMVP race all that
- 35:45deeply because I saw the comparison and.
- 35:50Did he steal it? It looks like he stole it, if
- 35:54we're being honest. Fill me in.
- 35:57We might be tacking on another MVP.
- 36:01Or we should be tacking on another MVP to Mike Trout's
- 36:03resume. Mike Trout put up a 9.6 WAR.
- 36:11Let me make sure I'm seeing this right to Donaldson 7/1.
- 36:20OK. Had Trout had 172 hits to
- 36:24Donaldson's 184. So gets the hits Trout had, or
- 36:29they both had 41 home runs that year.
- 36:31Donaldson had 123 ribbies to Trout's 90.
- 36:37Trout had, surprisingly, only eleven stolen bases that year.
- 36:42Trout hit 299 to Donaldson's 297.
- 36:47Had a higher OBP, Slug, OPS and OPS Plus than Donaldson.
- 36:52Wow. So the only real.
- 36:56Category years ago like nine years ago we were still pretty
- 37:01into RB is and stuff, you know we.
- 37:03Were still high on runs, batted in and apparently hits.
- 37:08War was like barely cracking into the scene.
- 37:12If. If at all.
- 37:13Yeah. If at all.
- 37:15Yeah. Give them the give them the hit
- 37:19crown between these two and give them the the RBI crown.
- 37:22That's all in terms of these bigger sixes I was getting.
- 37:28Remembering that the Blue Jays lineup I mean a little bit
- 37:31different than 2015 Angels lineup.
- 37:34Sure. I mean, you're talking about a
- 37:36playoff team versus not. Well, 2015, that wasn't the
- 37:43Batista year, was it? When was the Batista flip?
- 37:48It was. It was in that that era.
- 37:54Right, I thought it. I thought it was.
- 37:59Yeah, that was 15. Yeah.
- 38:00So that's the Blue Jays. I'm I'm sure most people
- 38:03remember that Blue Jays team. That was a pretty, that was
- 38:06pretty lethal Blue Jays team. So I'm sure at that point in
- 38:10time we were still. Yeah, dude.
- 38:14We're still basing, we're still based in the MVP conversation on
- 38:19postseason player versus not. And the Angels didn't make the
- 38:25cut that year, obviously. But I mean, you'll look, you
- 38:28just look at the you don't even have to get into advanced
- 38:31analytics like the nerd stuff. We're talking batting average,
- 38:37OVP, slug, OPSOPS. Plus, all in favor, Trout.
- 38:45You had some BOP in this lineup between Jose Batista, Edwin and
- 38:50Carnacion. Russell Martin even had 23
- 38:53jacks. And Carnacion that was that was
- 38:56that was prime parrot. Yeah.
- 38:58And Carnacion, he. Had 39.
- 39:00Jose Batista had 40. Josh Donna said 41.
- 39:06Fun, fun, fun ball club to watch.
- 39:10If you if you're not followed by, like if you weren't followed
- 39:14by Jose Bautista on Twitter during that time, just pack it
- 39:19up and consider yourself a nobody because the man,
- 39:22literally you go to his account. In fact, I'm gonna do it right
- 39:25now, man. Literally followed everybody
- 39:31that associated or even mentioned the word baseball.
- 39:39You think I'm not? You think I'm joking?
- 39:42I need to pull this up. Joey Bats, 19.
- 39:45He has a million followers and he follows 817.7000 people.
- 39:52That's big time. I like that.
- 39:54The human brain can't comprehend the content from 817.7000
- 40:01people. Speak for yourself.
- 40:05But he follows. He follows us.
- 40:07So I'm cool with it. I like how how this should be.
- 40:14Josh Donaldson's like, you know, riding off into the sunset
- 40:18moment. And we're like, actually, I
- 40:20think that MVP should have been my droughts.
- 40:22Oh, no, I'm not. No, no, no, no, no.
- 40:25Don't be misled. I'm not.
- 40:27I'm not giving him some little farewell.
- 40:29I'm not giving him a a goodbye tour on this podcast.
- 40:34No, no, no. The the little that he can claim
- 40:38accolade wise, I'm just going to go ahead and pull the rug out
- 40:41from underneath him because he didn't deserve it and we just
- 40:45told you why, right? Am I wrong?
- 40:52No, I love it. Like, I'm not just being like,
- 40:55spiteful, right? That I mean, very clearly should
- 40:57have gone to trout, but it was a different time.
- 41:00Like it was only nine years ago. But that you have to think of
- 41:04how far baseball has come in terms of how we view the award,
- 41:08how we look at different stats. One could all do the East Coast
- 41:12Bias Electrifying team. I think Shohei played a big part
- 41:20in, in dismantling to a degree, the whole West Coast, East Coast
- 41:26thing. I think we've gotten past that a
- 41:28little bit, yeah. But at the time, yeah, it
- 41:31certainly existed. And I remember having those
- 41:33conversations about how Mike Trout, like majority of the
- 41:37country, doesn't even really know much about Mike Trout, not
- 41:41able to watch him all that much. So I I get it from that
- 41:45standpoint, but retroactively, I would like to formally request a
- 41:51petitions. Josh Donaldson's MVPB Stripped,
- 41:58Stripped and handed. Rightfully.
- 42:01So to Mike Trout. Give me that MVP.
- 42:04Give Reggie Bush's Heisman back. All is right in the world.
- 42:08Actually, give me Altuve's MVP as well.
- 42:12One fell swoop Just. All three.
- 42:15Make it right, sports world. Go sports.
- 42:20Go sports. Couple more items here.
- 42:24Did you see by chance the the movement that's sweeping the
- 42:29nation in the form of the Danville Dairy Daddies?
- 42:40I just want to talk about. Who has the balls to do this and
- 42:44like approve this? I don't know who it was, but
- 42:51whoever made the final, whoever had the final say.
- 42:53Thank you. Absolute big salute.
- 42:59How? How you went public with this
- 43:03'cause that you can only imagine how many conversations we've
- 43:06had. Like, ah, should we really do
- 43:07this? Is this wise?
- 43:08Is this gonna? Are we gonna catch Flack for
- 43:10this? I have not seen a single
- 43:14negative thing said about the branding.
- 43:22Nothing but praise for this team.
- 43:24Have we seen the jerseys yet? I have not seen the jerseys.
- 43:28That's what I'm curious. About.
- 43:30Is fire, dude, everything about this team.
- 43:33If you if you don't know what we're talking about, which at
- 43:35this point I don't know how you haven't heard about the Danville
- 43:37Dairies. It's they are joining the old N
- 43:42State League, which is a collegiate summer league based
- 43:48in North Carolina. But I believe they pull a couple
- 43:51teams from Southern Virginia, which is where Danville is,
- 43:55Southern Virginia. So you got the Danville Dairy
- 43:57Daddies there. I don't think it's official, but
- 44:01I saw that their field name unofficially is gonna be the
- 44:08field of creams. Their hashtag is get creamed or
- 44:15no get milked and legend legend hyphen dairy.
- 44:22I like that. I like that.
- 44:25Their merch sizes on their website start from Small or
- 44:30Skim, which is Small 1% which is medium 2% which is a large
- 44:35whole, which is Extra large, Creamy IS2XL and Extra Creamy
- 44:39IS3XL. Their mascot is a shirtless cow
- 44:47named MC Creamy. And just everything.
- 44:58Everything about it is inspiring.
- 45:04To. To put it to a word, it's
- 45:05inspiring. I'm scrolling through this
- 45:09Twitter page and I I don't even know.
- 45:14I don't even know. Wild.
- 45:23I really want it. I really want to get merge.
- 45:26I really do. Where is this?
- 45:35Danville, VA Southern Virginia. You can make a trip.
- 45:39You can make a drive. I might have to do it.
- 45:45I I can only imagine that opening day or opening night for
- 45:48them is going to be off the charts.
- 45:50Yeah, I'm going to give them a follow.
- 45:53I'm going to, I'll just, I just want to, I want to ride this
- 45:57out. I want to see how it goes.
- 46:01Yeah, I mean they're they're all.
- 46:03I will say they're pun intended. They're milking this for all
- 46:08it's worth and for good reason. But I'm curious to see how long
- 46:11the buzz, how long they ride the how long they ride the wave
- 46:14because. The old N State League.
- 46:18Yeah, North Carolina Collegiate. I think it's wood bat league,
- 46:25but they're they pull from outside of Carolina too.
- 46:30So it's sweet, man. I love it.
- 46:35Tech of a marketing job I. Thought it was a joke.
- 46:37I thought we were getting punked.
- 46:40And then the more I looked into it, no, this is very this is
- 46:43very, very real. Gives them plenty of time to to
- 46:46build up before the summer. Just gonna be good.
- 46:51About it the jerseys are coming. Though to answer your question,
- 46:54I, I I just now I'm remembering that they they have put a little
- 46:58teaser tweet out, said jerseys are on their way and I think
- 47:01they might be available for purchase so.
- 47:02Just need to watch out. I don't need to see the Utters.
- 47:06You know what I'm saying? Like, let's just keep it.
- 47:14No Utters, Let's. Keep it.
- 47:15Let's keep it PG. Let's keep it Utterless.
- 47:17No utters. Please.
- 47:19Keep it Utterless. If I just see like a cow belly
- 47:22on the front of this. Jersey Oh, I'm sure that'll be
- 47:25like an alternate. I'm sure it'll be an alternate.
- 47:30Another item I wanted to get to just briefly here, the Mets.
- 47:35The New York Mets have announced that they are starting to dance
- 47:41team. I saw that.
- 47:45The Mets are the most unserious franchise in baseball, and I
- 47:49stand by that. And I will continue to stand by
- 47:51that. They're a mess, dude.
- 47:57What is this dance team? Is it like?
- 47:59What do you mean? It's exactly what it sounds
- 48:03like. It's just a dance team.
- 48:07Are they gonna like there's a dance team now at games?
- 48:13I don't know. I really don't.
- 48:14It's just they or. There's like a dance team
- 48:16competing in dance competitions with Met's gear on.
- 48:22I'm imagining the little that I know about this is that this is
- 48:27gonna be like an on field product.
- 48:32Like. Dugout dancers?
- 48:34I don't. I don't know.
- 48:36There's a team that has dancers on the dugout.
- 48:40Who is that? The Astros don't, don't they?
- 48:45I think they do. Astros have like the, not the,
- 48:52not the Cowgirls. What are they called the
- 48:57shooting stars? Yeah, they're pretty legit.
- 49:02They're pretty legit. They've been they've been around
- 49:04for I think like a decade. So they're they do it right.
- 49:09It's it's it's tasteful, not tacky.
- 49:13And it doesn't, from what I know it, that doesn't interfere with
- 49:19the on field product as much the Mets dance team.
- 49:21I can only imagine it's. Going to be.
- 49:24The horrendous way that they manage everything, it's.
- 49:27Going to be cringy. It's going to be a circus.
- 49:30Yeah. It's going to be Savannah
- 49:34Bananas meets New York Mets in the form of a dance team and
- 49:37it's just going to be, it's going to be a nightmare.
- 49:41But that's the way they do things.
- 49:44And I saw Steve Cohen, he was he was he was clapping back a
- 49:48little bit on on Twitter. Where was it?
- 49:54Let me find it. So the announcement tweet, Dan
- 50:00Bartell said the Mets are getting into dance team let's
- 50:02go. And then somebody said, this is
- 50:04baseball. This isn't the NBA or NFL.
- 50:06There's not. There's no halftime in this
- 50:08game. I don't see how a dance team is
- 50:10necessary. And then Steve Cohen replies and
- 50:13said excellent point, I forgot how serious baseball is relative
- 50:16to other sports. And then I screenshotted the
- 50:23tweet or the article where it said back Schurzer requested
- 50:27trade from Mets after learning team plans to focus on 2025 to
- 50:312026. And I simply tweeted the cat I I
- 50:36tweeted in addition to that picture, I said Mets are
- 50:38bridging the gap with the dance team, so it's like, hey, we're
- 50:41not going to compete in 2024. We've made that abundantly
- 50:44clear. Right.
- 50:46We're gonna but. You know what you are gonna get?
- 50:49You're not going to get competitive baseball, but you're
- 50:51going to get a dance team and you're going to like it.
- 50:58And it goes back to my point, they're the most unserious
- 51:01franchise in baseball. How?
- 51:05How would they expect that this would be well received by fans?
- 51:13I they just there's just like this you can't be surprised by
- 51:24what they do anymore kind of thing.
- 51:27But you're also like losing brain cells trying to figure out
- 51:35what is wrong with this organization.
- 51:38Why are they this way forever. They're just.
- 51:45It's just been forever. It's gonna be forever.
- 51:49I don't care who you sign, who you trade for, how much money
- 51:52you spend. We just we just are.
- 51:55We know. We already know what the end
- 51:57result is. We thought Steve Cohen would be
- 52:00a fix. Clearly hasn't proven to be the
- 52:03case. We.
- 52:04Thought hand up. I fell for that one.
- 52:06I fell for that one. I fell for that one more than I
- 52:09fell for the Buck Showalter one, because I knew when when they
- 52:12brought in Buck Showalter, you said no, no, The tides are
- 52:16turning things the the scene is changing, not even in Queens.
- 52:21And I said no. You just wait.
- 52:24And what did they go out and do? They sucked.
- 52:28They flopped, they choked. And then they they let him go.
- 52:35They're the laughing stocks. They really are.
- 52:40And they've like ruined Francisco Lindor.
- 52:44That guy was the happiest guy in baseball.
- 52:46And now I don't even know if he knows how to smile anymore.
- 52:53What do you serious question what do you I mean what do you
- 52:56think it's going to take to to fix that franchise Like jokes
- 53:03aside about how they're the the, like Mets are going to met.
- 53:06The Mets are cursed. Pushing that aside, like let's
- 53:11get real here. What is going to fix the New
- 53:13York's Mets? Because we just we just listed
- 53:17out a few things that were pretty landmark things in the
- 53:25grand scheme of the organization, at least in recent
- 53:28memory. Didn't prove to not even matter
- 53:34in the slightest. It starts with resigning Pete
- 53:38Alonzo. I don't.
- 53:41I was. Afraid you're going to say that.
- 53:44I was afraid you're going to say that, but I no, I have to
- 53:48disagree with you on that. He is the he is the root of the
- 53:53corniness on that team. It starts with him.
- 53:58So to bring that back. He's a baseball hardo, though.
- 54:02He just loves baseball. OK, go be a Hardo in Kansas City
- 54:07or something. I don't know.
- 54:10It's This isn't the place for you, dude.
- 54:13You're squatting in between rounds of the OR you're you're
- 54:17you're dead lifting in between rounds of the Home Run Derby.
- 54:22You're a hard O. You're a corny hard O, but you
- 54:25don't belong in Queens. I don't know, dude.
- 54:28I mean, I don't. I feel like they're they pressed
- 54:32decent buttons lately for the last few years.
- 54:37Like, on paper, they've done everything right.
- 54:43So. Yeah, I mean.
- 54:46Outside of maybe, just maybe, a severe rebranding, maybe move
- 54:54they're never going to move, but maybe move this realignment that
- 54:59is being rumored when there's new teams added in, you got to
- 55:04get away from the Braves. That's a good point that I mean
- 55:08that within reason like realistic scenarios a a
- 55:12realignment could benefit them. Shake the Shake the ghosts of
- 55:16the NL ES that seem to linger over over your head year after
- 55:21year. But you got to assume, if there
- 55:24is a realignment, the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Phillies are
- 55:30all gonna still be in that mix. Maybe even the Orioles.
- 55:34So it's not like they have the ability to get it out of their
- 55:37region. I don't know, man.
- 55:45Cohen's a cornball too. I don't care if you're rich,
- 55:48you're a cornball dude and you're not fooling anybody.
- 55:51When you keep just grabbing a hat out of the team shop on your
- 55:57way to your press conference, it's brand new.
- 55:59You've never worn it before. I know what you're doing.
- 56:03No, I think let's let's give Credo a credits to I think Steve
- 56:07Cohen's a pretty is he not a like a die hard Mets fan?
- 56:11I think he's a cornball. Well.
- 56:13I don't say I'm not saying he's not a fan.
- 56:16I'm just saying outside of those press press conferences or
- 56:19public appearances that that just, he's not a hack guy.
- 56:24Well, I mean to, I mean, that's a that's a bold claim.
- 56:30That's guys aren't hack guys. That's an attack.
- 56:34Like we only save the the tags on the merch insults for fans
- 56:39like the Rays like to to to throw that in Steve Cohen's
- 56:43face, that's a bold claim. You're going to need evidence to
- 56:47back that up. He looks like smalls when he
- 56:50gets his first hat with the fish on it.
- 56:52The bill is just entirely too big.
- 56:54You know what I mean? I mean when when Smalls is in
- 57:02the press box at the end of the movie.
- 57:04So that's Steve, that's Steve Cohen right there.
- 57:07Pretty much, yeah. I don't know that's I just.
- 57:11I'm not saying he's not a Mets fan.
- 57:12I'm just saying I don't think he cares as much about baseball as
- 57:17he lets people believe. Of the owners out there, he's
- 57:27got to be towards the top of the list though, I mean, because you
- 57:31could say across the board to a degree, most owners probably
- 57:34don't care about their team as much as they let on.
- 57:37Yeah, I I was saying they. Just care about dollar signs.
- 57:40But I don't know how much that speaks volumes.
- 57:42But I don't know. He's a corn, too.
- 57:46I I don't know, dude. I don't know what's gonna fix
- 57:49them. I don't think anything's gonna
- 57:51fix them. And I'm OK with that.
- 57:53I'm OK with them being broken forever.
- 57:58Somebody's gotta hold the title. That's true.
- 58:03I'm OK with it being the Mets. It's just perfect because, like,
- 58:07no one expects anything out of the A's.
- 58:10You know what I mean? Like, we don't expect anything
- 58:13out of you. You are what you are.
- 58:17But the Mets, there's still this group of people that still
- 58:19believe and are let down over and over for different reasons.
- 58:27Fake hitting coaches, animals, fights, deadlifts.
- 58:38It's just awesome. It's great entertainment.
- 58:44Speaking of Speaking of cornballs kind of wrapping up
- 58:48here, the just a couple items real quick.
- 58:52Garrett Cole. Hey, easy guy.
- 58:56Coming, frog. Easy.
- 58:59How, how unaware is Garrett Cole when he doesn't even know that
- 59:07Daniel Vogelbach at a jog, at anybody else's jog, is
- 59:17ultimately full speed for Daniel Vogelbach?
- 59:21Like he's not jogging. He's giving you what he has in
- 59:24the tank? I'm.
- 59:26Here for. For what?
- 59:29He's like a glorified minor leaguer.
- 59:31He's like a four a guy. And Garrett Cole.
- 59:35It's the irony for me. It's the irony for me that what
- 59:38that that's that what does it for me.
- 59:41He goes, I had to pull the quote up.
- 59:43He said. Or Brian is it Hotch?
- 59:47We've talked about this before. Hoke Hotch.
- 59:50I believe. The Yankees guy.
- 59:53I believe it's Hulk. Hulk OK, we're going to say
- 59:57we're going to go, Brian Hoke tweeted.
- 1:00:01This was from two days ago, I think, he tweeted.
- 1:00:04Gerrit Cole was no fan of Daniel Vogelbach's slow trot in the
- 1:00:07first inning, Gerrit Cole was quoted as saying.
- 1:00:09Yeah, what's the day? Are we still in February, March
- 1:00:131st? Yeah, he enjoyed that Homer.
- 1:00:15Asked if he would remember Vogelbach's trot during the
- 1:00:18season, Cole replied. I don't forget a lot of things.
- 1:00:24Well, for one, Garrett, you forget how to respond when
- 1:00:28you're prompted about spider tech because you would have
- 1:00:32thought he would have never even heard the phrase when he was
- 1:00:34asked about that. So the whole I don't forget a
- 1:00:36lot. This is dead.
- 1:00:38You can't recycle this. No.
- 1:00:41You can't get back to this Well, that was dry, no?
- 1:00:44No, no, no, no, no. I'm not.
- 1:00:46I'm not. Guy.
- 1:00:47Guy, hear me out. I'm not trying to bring that up
- 1:00:51has a case against him. I'm simply saying to say I don't
- 1:00:55forget a lot of things and he's sitting there.
- 1:00:57Hey, Garrett, what's what's the deal with you in Spidertech?
- 1:01:04I I don't. I don't know to say you don't
- 1:01:09forget a lot of things that confidently.
- 1:01:11Come on, come on Garrett, be better.
- 1:01:16Do what? You want Dawg, all you guys can
- 1:01:19attack his competitive that's the only time.
- 1:01:23This is the only time people attack him is his
- 1:01:26competitiveness. When he came out, came out and
- 1:01:28dugout trying to talk When when freaking Alec Manoah is trying
- 1:01:33to throw shade out of like it's just competitive.
- 1:01:36Who was Cheeks, by the way? Little side, Little side note,
- 1:01:40I. Love that what?
- 1:01:41Was it in any like, I don't even think he finished his two
- 1:01:44Indians. He hit three guys.
- 1:01:46And he got scratched from his last start.
- 1:01:49Washed. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:01:51Washed, I think. For just about any guy in spring
- 1:01:55training, you can you can turn your nose up at numbers.
- 1:01:58Not that you need to pay full attention to what's happening
- 1:02:02with Alec Manoa right now, because it's a continuation of
- 1:02:04what happened last year. Back to Garrett Cole.
- 1:02:08For him. For him to bring up the date,
- 1:02:12He's the one getting upset by a four a guy to start March, to
- 1:02:20close out February, to start March.
- 1:02:23That that's the ironic part for me.
- 1:02:25You go, oh, what's the date, Garrett?
- 1:02:28If it's so early, why does it bother you so much, my friend?
- 1:02:32That's the whole thing. Why is he getting worked up?
- 1:02:35He's. Clearly a job.
- 1:02:36It's a slow job. Daniel Vogelbach.
- 1:02:40This is extra slow. That's cool, man.
- 1:02:45You look you you can hate. That's my ace.
- 1:02:52That's my ace. OK OK, I that's where I'll stop.
- 1:02:59He look reigning Sai young. That was my biggest hang up with
- 1:03:02him for the longest time. He got to stay young so I have
- 1:03:05to at least respect that. But the guy, I can't sometimes
- 1:03:11with him with these. Woes.
- 1:03:19That's my ace. I just got to feel something,
- 1:03:22man. I'm let me have this one, Let me
- 1:03:27have this one. I gotta feel something, I think.
- 1:03:30I think I don't fully disagree. I'm not saying he's not a goob
- 1:03:33sometimes, he's definitely a goober.
- 1:03:36But there is this competitiveness in him and
- 1:03:40there's this like this like perfectionist and there's also
- 1:03:43this like old school mentality that you and I can can
- 1:03:48appreciate at times with players.
- 1:03:50So that's my ace. Nice post.
- 1:04:00Can you just answer me this one question before we we close out
- 1:04:03here? Do you not think it's a little,
- 1:04:07it's a little hypocritical to bring up the date and how early
- 1:04:10it is, but also be visibly upset about it at the same time?
- 1:04:16If it was early and it didn't matter, if these games didn't
- 1:04:18matter, you wouldn't be upset about it, Garrett.
- 1:04:25I don't know. I'm just, I'm ready for, I'm
- 1:04:30ready for for Big cheese to to catch one in the rib cage or
- 1:04:37whatever outer. Layer.
- 1:04:38Is protecting his rib cage. That would be so unbelievably
- 1:04:43petty if Garrett Cole really latched onto a spring training
- 1:04:48home run. I do too.
- 1:04:50I'm with you. I'm.
- 1:04:51I'm fully on board with whatever comes out of.
- 1:04:54I like it. Dude.
- 1:04:55I This is what I've been missing.
- 1:04:59I need these like spiteful, angry, resentful Yankee players
- 1:05:11that I need some of them. I need some of them.
- 1:05:15There is no no sense or reason behind behind the Rodger Clemens
- 1:05:23hate towards Piazza. But I was here for it and I will
- 1:05:26fully support it. There's no rhyme or reason why
- 1:05:30it was there, but I'm here for it.
- 1:05:32Same thing for Garrett Cole. I will follow it.
- 1:05:35I will, I will support it. I will defend it.
- 1:05:39As long as he continues Cy Young stuff, whatever, he needs to be
- 1:05:45him, I'm here for it. I'd be a hypocrite myself if I
- 1:05:51said that one of my go to lines is I'm here for the pettiness.
- 1:05:55But it has to be within reason. It can't be something as
- 1:06:00hypocritical as this. This is just too much.
- 1:06:07Kind of closing the book here. Maybe one or two more quick,
- 1:06:10super quick items. Did you see that Ronald Cunha,
- 1:06:13Junior's little brother, verbally committed to the
- 1:06:16Phillies at age 12? I thought you were kidding.
- 1:06:20No, that was a real thing. What are you talking about?
- 1:06:26I'm talking about exactly what I said.
- 1:06:27How is that brother? What do you mean verbally
- 1:06:29commit? How do you?
- 1:06:31Couldn't tell you, Couldn't tell you verbally.
- 1:06:34Committed to the Phillies at age 12?
- 1:06:36Let me see. He won't be able to sign as an
- 1:06:40international free agent until 2028, which is 4 years, which
- 1:06:48would put him at 16, which I guess is when they can sign.
- 1:06:51Yeah, that. Yeah.
- 1:06:52Yeah, 16. Yeah.
- 1:06:53So four more years he'll be able to sign as an international free
- 1:06:56agent, which is more normal. Signing at 16 as an
- 1:07:00international free agent. We've seen that it happens.
- 1:07:03But 12A verbal commitment at 12? I can't say we've seen that.
- 1:07:08To a college, maybe, But a professional Major League
- 1:07:12organization? I don't know if we've seen that
- 1:07:14before. I I I don't understand it.
- 1:07:17Isn't there a middle brother? Yeah, there's another one that's
- 1:07:21like, it's Kenny. He's like a Top 100 prospect
- 1:07:25this year, isn't he? Yeah, It's like Luis.
- 1:07:30Yeah. Is it Luis?
- 1:07:31Luis. Angel or something like that.
- 1:07:33Angel on hill. Luis on hill.
- 1:07:35Luis. Angel.
- 1:07:36Yeah, yeah, he dude looks like a ball player.
- 1:07:40I'll give him that. Is this like the next Molina
- 1:07:46trio when they're all in 'cause, I mean, if the youngest one is
- 1:07:51only six years out from the league or whatever?
- 1:07:56All right, so he's he's 12. Let's say he makes his debut at
- 1:08:0020, assuming he takes a somewhat normal track.
- 1:08:04Ronald. 'S what's?
- 1:08:06Yeah, what's? He's 26, so that put him at 34.
- 1:08:11All three, yeah. They could all very easily be in
- 1:08:14the mix. Nice.
- 1:08:16I like it. I like that.
- 1:08:19I like it a lot, Molina's. I still don't understand the
- 1:08:26verbal commitment though. Doesn't make any sense.
- 1:08:31Yeah. Not to rehash this, but
- 1:08:35fanatics. Oh boy.
- 1:08:39Michael, Ruben, Ruben came out and addressed the backlash and
- 1:08:46essentially said we're getting the crap kicked out of us, but a
- 1:08:48little more vulgar and I have yet to see a single comment in
- 1:08:53support of what Fanatics is doing.
- 1:08:55They're saying, Yep, that's what happens when you make a crap
- 1:08:59product Mike, because the jerseys suck.
- 1:09:02So All in all, I just hope we we get this resolved before opening
- 1:09:09day. Like I said, don't want to
- 1:09:10rehash it, but just wanted to bring up the fact that he he's
- 1:09:14at least aware of the criticism that his organization, his
- 1:09:17company, is getting so good. Deservedly so, I.
- 1:09:25Think that's about it. Good stuff.
- 1:09:28So waiting to hear back from Joey Votto on joining the
- 1:09:31fantasy league. So stand stand by for that he to
- 1:09:36be fair, he's probably waiting. Still waiting to hear on the
- 1:09:39contract situation. He's probably he's probably got
- 1:09:42a reply already typed up. Well, just letting you know now
- 1:09:50one of you is getting bounced if Vado becomes available, so.
- 1:09:56If if Joey Vado receives our invitation receives in response
- 1:10:01to our invitation to join our fantasy.
- 1:10:03So let's if he retires, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna have to
- 1:10:07bounce somebody. So just just hope it's not you
- 1:10:11that. 'D be cool though.
- 1:10:13Like to be able to say like, hey, I I'm not doing fantasy
- 1:10:16this year. I got kicked out because Joey
- 1:10:17Vado went to my spot. I had had to give up my spot for
- 1:10:21a Hall of Famer. It's fine.
- 1:10:22It's pretty sick. I'll I'll try again next year.
- 1:10:26ABBA we'll do that. If he joins the league.
- 1:10:29The person that has to get bounced maybe we we'll we'll
- 1:10:34give him we'll give him like a few years run in the league.
- 1:10:38There you go. We won't say, I won't say
- 1:10:39lifetime, but usually you have to win the league to get
- 1:10:43automatic re entry into the following season for our league.
- 1:10:46But if you get bounced for Joey Botto we'll give you a few years
- 1:10:49on the House. How about that, I like that.
- 1:10:51So yeah, as a reminder link in the BIOS are you can find the
- 1:10:54fantasy application on our website 3otake.com and deadline
- 1:11:00is Friday so get to that and subscribe to the YouTube three O
- 1:11:04take. That's all I got.
- 1:11:09Good stuff. We'll see you next week.
- 1:11:13Hot Takes episode coming soon, Yeah.
- 1:11:15Yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to say that before we go
- 1:11:17what, what? What did we decide like late
- 1:11:22next week? Late next week will be Hot takes
- 1:11:26number one episode of the year. So buckle up, we're going in.
- 1:11:31The most highly the the most highly anticipated episode of
- 1:11:35the year. Every year the official hot
- 1:11:38takes and predictions episode will be coming to you, probably
- 1:11:44thinking maybe the 13th or 14th. Give it like a week, a week of
- 1:11:49air time. Let it breathe for a little bit
- 1:11:51before the unofficial opening day gets going.
- 1:11:55Unbelievable. Stop doing that.
- 1:11:57The Korea Series. Stop doing that.
- 1:12:00Can we please stop with the International Series at least
- 1:12:03that early? Playing more spring training
- 1:12:05games after, but they're not like spring.
- 1:12:06Training games saying do it in do these international trips
- 1:12:11during the season. We've seen it.
- 1:12:13We we've we've gone down to Latin.
- 1:12:16Pay more attention. We've gone to London in the
- 1:12:20middle of the season. We've done these things.
- 1:12:22We don't need to unofficially start the season in Korea like a
- 1:12:28week before the the official opening day.
- 1:12:31Let's stop doing that. But yeah, keep an eye out for
- 1:12:35hot takes and predictions. Episode late next week and we
- 1:12:41will talk to you guys next week. Love it, Don't go chasing
- 1:12:44curveballs. We love you all and as always,
- 1:12:46looking forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:12:48Until next time, stay filthy.
