- 0:08Speaker 2: KMF I am six forty will Handle here on a
- 0:13Speaker 2: footy Friday, which is not a floody Friday because.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Neil Savedra is not here. Before we get to.
- 0:20Speaker 2: This religious topic, and I love doing religion, as you know,
- 0:24Speaker 2: a couple of big stories. You have the Just Department
- 0:28Speaker 2: today facing the deadline to release the remainder of its
- 0:31Speaker 2: investigative files on Jeffrey Epstein Jeffrey Epstein, and.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I don't know you think they're gonna do it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I was right on Pete Hegseth not releasing the video
- 0:45Speaker 2: of that attack on the drug boat in which there
- 0:49Speaker 2: were two survivors and then they were taken out, and
- 0:51Speaker 2: now it is high it's top secret for some reason.
- 0:56Speaker 3: All the other ones are not all right.
- 0:58Speaker 2: So we'll see today if it happens now instead of
- 1:00Speaker 2: foody Friday. Neil who is here, and Neil, as you know,
- 1:04Speaker 2: is the producer of the Jesus Show that's heard on
- 1:08Speaker 2: Sundays here on KFI six to nine am. I want
- 1:13Speaker 2: to share a religious story with you. And this is
- 1:17Speaker 2: a story out of the Wall Tree Journal and they
- 1:19Speaker 2: interviewed a carlist Gomez. He was flying from Guadalajara to
- 1:24Speaker 2: here and the flight was really delayed, and he asked
- 1:29Speaker 2: the gate attendant, what's going on. Weather's fine, the crew
- 1:33Speaker 2: is here. There were twenty five wheelchair passengers that were
- 1:37Speaker 2: holding up boarding, twenty five of them.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Now, okay, so they get them on the airplane.
- 1:45Speaker 2: They get these twenty five people on the airplane, and
- 1:49Speaker 2: as the passengers were getting off the airplane, those twenty
- 1:53Speaker 2: five people who were boarded on wheelchairs got up without assistance,
- 2:02Speaker 2: no wheelchair, and bounded off the airplane.
- 2:07Speaker 3: It was a miracle.
- 2:10Speaker 2: They were cured of their disability on the plane, actually
- 2:15Speaker 2: on the jetway. That's why this is a Jesus or
- 2:20Speaker 2: a jetway Jesus that's at work. You've seen those early films. Well,
- 2:26Speaker 2: there was a faith healer, Amy Simple McPherson in the
- 2:30Speaker 2: twenties here in Los Angeles who had this enormous church,
- 2:34Speaker 2: the building is still here, and she would heal people.
- 2:36Speaker 3: We have televangelists today who heal people. You know, they hear.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Voices and they come up there with wheelchairs and.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Stand up, stand up.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah yeah right. It's always some cancer cure or something.
- 2:51Speaker 2: It's never an amputation. For example, grow a leg, grow
- 2:55Speaker 2: a leg that you don't usually see when these evangelists
- 3:00Speaker 2: go crazy.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Okay, so these are Jetway.
- 3:06Speaker 2: This is Jetway Jesus that cures passengers before they land
- 3:13Speaker 2: and they're able to walk off. And they're also described
- 3:18Speaker 2: as miracle flights. And the flight attendant explained to Gomez
- 3:24Speaker 2: that a lot of these people request wheelchairs for the
- 3:27Speaker 2: quote VIP experience. What is that, Well, you skip the lines,
- 3:30Speaker 2: you get first crack, you get into the airplane first,
- 3:33Speaker 2: that overhead space, and then once they realize.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Wait, you have to stay on.
- 3:39Speaker 2: You have to stay on the plane until we get
- 3:41Speaker 2: a wheelchair, and you have to wait for everybody to
- 3:44Speaker 2: get off. WHOA, I'm fine, I've been cured. I spoke
- 3:50Speaker 2: in voices. Now there's usually no request for proof of
- 3:56Speaker 2: a disability passenger. Sometimes they're asked to fill out a
- 4:00Speaker 2: quick form saying yeah, I'm disabled, then off they go.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And sometimes, according to the flight attendant who talked to Gomez,
- 4:07Speaker 2: who gave him the reason why there were fifty people
- 4:10Speaker 2: on that flight, sometimes they're up to fifty wheelchairs boarding
- 4:15Speaker 2: a plane that seats one hundred and thirty passengers.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Oh, Gomez.
- 4:21Speaker 2: That flight from god to Lahara had twenty five wheelchair passengers,
- 4:25Speaker 2: and so it's the ultimate way of doing it.
- 4:30Speaker 3: It just works. Now it's gotten old real quickly.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Disney Disneyland used to do something like that, amy that
- 4:38Speaker 2: I would say that there is a Walmart near Disneyland
- 4:44Speaker 2: and you could buy one of those collapsible canes for
- 4:48Speaker 2: eight dollars and then go to the park and then
- 4:52Speaker 2: walk on your cane or with your cane and get
- 4:55Speaker 2: at the front.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Of the line.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And you are why they changed the policy.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Well, let me tell you something.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I only did it, okay, to see if it could
- 5:03Speaker 2: be done for the purposes of doing a segment forty
- 5:06Speaker 2: five times.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You know what really made them change the policy though,
- 5:11Speaker 1: was that this is one of the biggest things that happened,
- 5:15Speaker 1: was that people were hiring people who were handicapped or
- 5:21Speaker 1: had a handicap to go with them. So like you'd
- 5:25Speaker 1: show up and one person would be in a wheelchair
- 5:27Speaker 1: and the whole party would cut the line. Now, wow,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and they actually hired people too. You have to give
- 5:35Speaker 1: them kudos. However, isn't while this disabled people. I don't
- 5:40Speaker 1: know if they actually give them a break anymore.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But wasn't there a time when disabled people could only
- 5:45Speaker 2: take one person with them on the ride?
- 5:48Speaker 1: They used to have to They didn't used to have
- 5:51Speaker 1: that restriction. They may have it now because but they
- 5:54Speaker 1: had to change their policy because again people were cheating it,
- 5:57Speaker 1: taking advantage of it.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Well, when I report it after having only done it once,
- 6:02Speaker 2: mind you just for the purposes of the show. That
- 6:06Speaker 2: that Walmart cane, the collapsible cane, which you only have
- 6:10Speaker 2: to buy once, by the way, but it's disposable, it's
- 6:12Speaker 2: eight bucks and it's uh. That was problematic. And then
- 6:17Speaker 2: I said, don't ever do that again. And then of
- 6:19Speaker 2: course the next week I said, wait a minute, I've
- 6:21Speaker 2: got to I've got to try it again to see
- 6:23Speaker 2: if it really works.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Those are the days.
- 6:25Speaker 2: When I went to Disneyland and a lot of times
- 6:30Speaker 2: they just don't let people or you wait in line,
- 6:32Speaker 2: you sit in the wheelchair, just wait in line like
- 6:34Speaker 2: everybody else, and then they put you in the wheelchair
- 6:38Speaker 2: accessible part of the ride. I'm thinking of Pirates of
- 6:41Speaker 2: the Caribbean, for example, where you can get in there
- 6:44Speaker 2: or the uh, well, let me ask you something I
- 6:49Speaker 2: haven't been on. In the auto zone. You know the uh,
- 6:53Speaker 2: those little cars and I'm sure you have right, yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and you actually step on the gas right, Yes.
- 6:59Speaker 3: What do they do with couple amputees people that have
- 7:02Speaker 3: no legs?
- 7:04Speaker 4: Oh?
- 7:04Speaker 3: Is that handled?
- 7:05Speaker 1: Maybe they have to go with another guest?
- 7:07Speaker 2: Oh, okay, just wondering. Okay, I want to share something
- 7:13Speaker 2: with you, and it's all about retirement. And there are
- 7:18Speaker 2: a couple kinds of people that live in the world
- 7:21Speaker 2: of retirement.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Those who can't wait to retire.
- 7:24Speaker 2: They've had a job that they haven't enjoyed for many,
- 7:28Speaker 2: many years or hated from the beginning, and we're sort
- 7:31Speaker 2: of forced into the job because of circumstances. A lot
- 7:35Speaker 2: of lawyers, for example, are practicing the law that they
- 7:38Speaker 2: first clerked at or clerked in and don't particularly like
- 7:42Speaker 2: it and or can't wait to retire. And then there
- 7:44Speaker 2: are people that just love to keep on working, and
- 7:48Speaker 2: in many cases they can't because society doesn't let them,
- 7:54Speaker 2: and they're.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Still able to work. It's just that, especially in the
- 7:59Speaker 3: world of athlete.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I mean, how many Tom Brady's are out there or
- 8:03Speaker 2: Lindsey Vaughn's. Lindsay Vaughn just won a World Cup race
- 8:08Speaker 2: at forty one which is the oldest racer of any
- 8:12Speaker 2: man or woman skier that has ever been and she
- 8:18Speaker 2: came back after seven years. And then the story about
- 8:22Speaker 2: Philip Rivers, forty four year old quarterback retired I think
- 8:27Speaker 2: retired seven years ago. He was no five years ago
- 8:31Speaker 2: and he was with the Colts and they ran out
- 8:35Speaker 2: of quarterbacks, so they brought him back after retirement, and
- 8:38Speaker 2: he had not thrown a ball for years, and he
- 8:42Speaker 2: actually did very well. Even though the Colts lost, he
- 8:46Speaker 2: was able to throw a touchdown. He did really well.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And when he retired it because he wanted to retire.
- 8:52Speaker 2: He and his wife have ten kids. Boy, you're not
- 8:54Speaker 2: talking about keeping busy, that's for sure. And he said,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I'm just ready to go. I want to spend time
- 8:59Speaker 2: with my kids. Well, I don't want to spend time
- 9:02Speaker 2: with my kids. I have no desire to spend time
- 9:04Speaker 2: with my kids. And so retirement in my life is well,
- 9:10Speaker 2: I don't know when I'm going to retire, frankly, And
- 9:12Speaker 2: here's what happens professional athletes. There is something called sarcopenia,
- 9:20Speaker 2: where it's a decline incremental decline of muscle mass aerobic
- 9:26Speaker 2: capacity begins to lessen flexibility decreases ligaman stiffen.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And in my world, in the world of talk, what
- 9:35Speaker 3: ends up happening?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Well, in my case, for example, because I'm no youngster,
- 9:40Speaker 2: I've been doing this for a long time, thirty two years,
- 9:42Speaker 2: just in the morning here on KFI, what ends up happening?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Have you noticed that I'm.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Groping for words more and more, I go off on tangents.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I rarely know what I'm talking about. And so when
- 9:57Speaker 2: I tell people that I work with, you know what,
- 10:00Speaker 2: I'm definitely aging because of the way I broadcast, and
- 10:06Speaker 2: you can tell. And I'm told, Bill, you sounded the
- 10:09Speaker 2: same way the first day of broadcasting, groping for words,
- 10:13Speaker 2: not paying attention, going off on tangents, and I go, wow,
- 10:18Speaker 2: I feel good about that. The point is the other
- 10:21Speaker 2: side of this is I don't know what I'm going
- 10:24Speaker 2: to do when I retire.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I don't.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I mean, this is a great gig. I enjoy doing this.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I make a terrific living doing this, and I don't golf.
- 10:37Speaker 2: There isn't a human being on this planet that I
- 10:39Speaker 2: would spend five and a half hours with on a
- 10:41Speaker 2: golf course. So I'm one of those people that you know,
- 10:47Speaker 2: literally probably going to retire when I finally end up
- 10:51Speaker 2: groping for words, going off on tangents, not knowing what
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm talking about, just losing attention, that's when I'm to retire.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Wait a minute, I've been doing that for forty years.
- 11:08Speaker 3: There you go, guys. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 11:12Speaker 3: I really.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Al Gore said it best when he when he's introduced,
- 11:18Speaker 2: and he said, I used to be the next president
- 11:20Speaker 2: of the United States. And one of my fears, legitimately
- 11:25Speaker 2: is I don't want to go around saying I used
- 11:27Speaker 2: to be Bill Handle.
- 11:29Speaker 3: That's that's a legitimate fear.
- 11:31Speaker 2: However, I'll have forgotten my name by then, and so
- 11:35Speaker 2: I don't have to worry about it. Forgotten that I've
- 11:37Speaker 2: ever worked in radio. What's the name of the station? Amy,
- 11:46Speaker 2: Do you know how many years I introduced myself as Hi,
- 11:51Speaker 2: this is Bill Handle, this is KABC Radio. Now I
- 11:54Speaker 2: was fired. I was, oh, yeah, you did, Honest to god,
- 11:58Speaker 2: I was fired from KABC.
- 12:01Speaker 3: In nineteen eighty eight.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I had done my illegal show in nineteen eighty eight,
- 12:08Speaker 2: and they fired me because I was groping for words,
- 12:11Speaker 2: because I was going off on tangients, because I rarely
- 12:14Speaker 2: knew what I was talking about giving advice. I made
- 12:16Speaker 2: absolutely no sense and so they can me. But I
- 12:21Speaker 2: for years, literally years, I would use those call letters. Okay,
- 12:27Speaker 2: and it is time for Ask Candle Anything. And this
- 12:30Speaker 2: is where you folks record a question for me. Neil
- 12:35Speaker 2: goes through the questions and I hear him for the
- 12:37Speaker 2: first time and answer. Because it's Ask Candle Anything. Neil
- 12:40Speaker 2: is not here, but he has selected the questions as
- 12:44Speaker 2: we end the Friday show, and the whole point of
- 12:46Speaker 2: it is to humiliate me and usually it works. So
- 12:49Speaker 2: with that in mind, our first call for Ask Candle Anything.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Hey, it's known in San Diego.
- 12:56Speaker 6: Hey, if Bill was one of the seven door offs,
- 12:58Speaker 6: which one would he want to be?
- 13:00Speaker 5: And why would it be?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Happy?
- 13:01Speaker 5: Nice?
- 13:03Speaker 3: Wow?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Where do you go with that one? Okay, I'd be
- 13:08Speaker 2: the incontinent one.
- 13:10Speaker 7: Uh?
- 13:11Speaker 3: Is that was?
- 13:12Speaker 2: That would be one of the dwarfs, that would be
- 13:15Speaker 2: there's stupid, there's droopy, there's loopy. Uh, there's groupie, and
- 13:19Speaker 2: then there's the one that doesn't sound like that, and
- 13:21Speaker 2: that's incontinency.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Okay, moving on, you divorce margin and it's just still single.
- 13:30Speaker 7: And if I think of her phone number.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Thank you. Oh well, first of all, I didn't divorce Margarine.
- 13:38Speaker 2: As much as people think that I'm using butter, I'm not.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I still use Margarine. And uh yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 3: At this point she is single.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and a real catch, I might add, she
- 13:52Speaker 2: is uh, you know, very attractive and just yeah, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 2: so you want to grab.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Her while you can do the war margin. Oh I'm
- 14:02Speaker 3: sorry margin.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Okay, I'm you know, divorce margin as in the typing
- 14:09Speaker 2: when you get something on paper. Yes, I divorced margin,
- 14:12Speaker 2: and now I use the entire page.
- 14:15Speaker 3: That is correct.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Okay, next, Bill Hector, and goodyear Arizona. Here.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I always thought you were about six foot three.
- 14:23Speaker 7: How tall are you now?
- 14:24Speaker 4: Bill?
- 14:24Speaker 6: Have you shrunk over the years or still?
- 14:27Speaker 3: Oh you were you? Never sixty three? Were you's a
- 14:29Speaker 3: lot smaller than that. Please let us know. Thank you.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Okay, No, I was never six three. I was six'
- 14:36Speaker 2: one at my. Height but what ends up happening as
- 14:42Speaker 2: those who have family members or, you the.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Body is actually.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Shrinks it does because we're not really made to walk
- 14:52Speaker 2: for seventy. Years so the discs get, smaller and you do,
- 14:57Speaker 2: shrink AND i did shrink quite a, bit SO i
- 15:00Speaker 2: went from six to one to five foot, three and
- 15:04Speaker 2: it's it's a. Lot let me tell you it's it's
- 15:06Speaker 2: not the same The uh, yeah, yeah the self self
- 15:10Speaker 2: clothing comes right into. It self esteem has a lot
- 15:12Speaker 2: to do with. It, uh, okay we have another.
- 15:15Speaker 7: One, Uh bill handle this is kind of a curious,
- 15:19Speaker 7: question but, uh sort of looking into the. Future but,
- 15:23Speaker 7: uh you talked about about how must say something about
- 15:26Speaker 7: money is going to be useless and all. That, well
- 15:29Speaker 7: if money is going to be, USELESS i want your,
- 15:31Speaker 7: opinion then what does that mean about? Gold and also
- 15:35Speaker 7: if money is, useless how AM i going to buy My?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Zelmans? Oh good.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Question, No i'm not saying money is useless and is
- 15:46Speaker 2: no longer going to. Exist It's Elon musk that said,
- 15:49Speaker 2: that uh and not. Me and how do you buy
- 15:53Speaker 2: Your zelmans with?
- 15:55Speaker 3: Money? YEAH i don't quite get.
- 15:58Speaker 2: How money is going to be useless because What musk
- 16:02Speaker 2: was saying that there'll be so much technology and so
- 16:04Speaker 2: MUCH ai out, there you won't have to work at,
- 16:07Speaker 2: all and therefore money is not going to be there
- 16:11Speaker 2: to buy. Anything you'll be able to get everything FOR
- 16:13Speaker 2: i guess. FREE i JUST i don't get. It it
- 16:15Speaker 2: makes no sense to, me but, no and SO i
- 16:18Speaker 2: still get. Paid and it's one of those things that
- 16:22Speaker 2: WHEN i go to the store AND i put the
- 16:23Speaker 2: corn flakes on the, counter they want. Money all, RIGHT
- 16:26Speaker 2: i think we do one more before we take a.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Break Hey, BILL i really Miss neil right. Now AND
- 16:33Speaker 3: i was wondering if you get.
- 16:34Speaker 4: That same feeling on the inside whenever you don't See
- 16:38Speaker 4: neil for that.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Long all, right, thanks absolutely. Not there is no Chance
- 16:48Speaker 2: i'm ever going to Miss neil and really feel like
- 16:51Speaker 2: he should be here with.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Me no. Chance.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Now it used to Be neil AND i used to be.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Closer we. Would we've spent time in a hotel. Together
- 17:02Speaker 2: he's a very good. SPOONER i have to tell. You
- 17:04Speaker 2: we do some really nice, spooning and we've gone on.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Vacation but in, general the answer is, NO i do
- 17:12Speaker 2: not Miss. Neil i'm just fine when he's not. Here
- 17:16Speaker 2: as a matter of, fact listening to this, SEGMENT i
- 17:20Speaker 2: don't Miss neil because a lot of times he won't shut. Up,
- 17:25Speaker 2: okay let's go ahead and grab the next, Question, Hi.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Bill one. Question are you relatively? Happy?
- 17:35Speaker 2: No, No i'm not relatively. Unhappy i'm completely. UNHAPPY i,
- 17:44Speaker 2: mean to the depths of my, Soul i'm. Unhappy and
- 17:48Speaker 2: the only REASON i don't commit suicide is because that
- 17:51Speaker 2: would make other people, happy And i'm not interested in
- 17:54Speaker 2: doing that.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Either, okay moving.
- 17:58Speaker 1: On.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Hey, bill how come you don't Tell zelman's In smart
- 18:06Speaker 5: And final Or Trader. Joe's wouldn't it be easier than
- 18:10Speaker 5: having commercials every ten?
- 18:11Speaker 2: Minutes, well easier for. You, possibly we just haven't gotten there.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yet it's just a question of time That zelmans will
- 18:22Speaker 2: be at At Trader joe's and Probably walmart as a
- 18:25Speaker 2: matter of. Fact next time you, go you can ask
- 18:28Speaker 2: the manager, why you, know why don't you Have zelman's
- 18:32Speaker 2: because that would make. It, yeah that would make it
- 18:34Speaker 2: really convenient for. People so that's the answer. There, wow
- 18:40Speaker 2: that was a serious, answer wasn't.
- 18:41Speaker 3: It what just? Happened, okay let's move.
- 18:49Speaker 5: On Hey, bill you just did a segment on how
- 18:53Speaker 5: you give everybody cash and write checks to everybody and
- 18:58Speaker 5: that you hate going out buying. Gifts do you write
- 19:00Speaker 5: a check To lindsey?
- 19:01Speaker 2: Too, no she writes a check to. Herself, YES i
- 19:08Speaker 2: WISH i could just write a check to, her AND
- 19:10Speaker 2: i am Frankly i'm not a. GIFTER i don't go
- 19:14Speaker 2: out of my way to gift simply because it takes,
- 19:17Speaker 2: time you have to think it, through you have to
- 19:21Speaker 2: actually like the person that you're. Gifting so, NO i
- 19:24Speaker 2: find it a pain in the. Ass it's just easier
- 19:26Speaker 2: to write a check and go.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Here leave me. Alone.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Now on the, Show anne is a, gifter and Certainly
- 19:33Speaker 2: amy is a, gifter AND i.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Don't know About cono And will are you a? Gifter?
