- 1:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh, so welcome.
- 1:29Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Glad to have you with us, glad to be here for another show.
- 1:34Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh it's uh it's Friday, uh a lot going on.
- 1:44Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh we talk about this uh this term, you know, adaptability or pivot or whatever we want to call it.
- 1:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And that just means we're able to change as events happen or don't happen.
- 2:06Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So for example, right, we have an appointment of some sort, and we find out maybe a half hour, 40 minutes, 20 minutes before our appointment that the power went out in the whole building, and the appointment that we originally had scheduled uh needs to be rescheduled.
- 2:40Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And and so it takes a lot to takes a lot to process that because for me I mean when we have an appointment, I don't want to say we're always looking forward to it, but there's some appointments that can help us and be more beneficial than others, and this was one of them.
- 3:10Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So no big deal.
- 3:13Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Um, but it just goes to show that you know, for anybody that's saying, like, oh Justin, you know, it's easy for you to say, it's easy for you to say.
- 3:29Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, it's not easy for me to say, especially at this time, because it was an appointment uh appointment I was looking forward to, uh, had it in my mind, uh, was ready to again ready to to go there, part part way on the way.
- 3:51Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So I had driven a distance and then found this information out.
- 4:00Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so you go through the whole rescheduling process uh and can't get back in the same day.
- 4:10Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So that's what I wanted to share here at the outset is we can't control, especially the electricity or other things that help make a business go and work.
- 4:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So we can't really I mean we can, but we we shouldn't really blame ourselves for that.
- 4:53Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Um, because there's nothing we can do, right?
- 4:56Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Acts of God, hurricane, an earthquake, you get it.
- 5:04Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Um for anybody who has ever had an appointment changed at the last minute, canceled, rescheduled, and that rescheduled date is further out than what we would like.
- 5:24Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: This is this is me sharing my story that I am not immune to things like this happening or occurring.
- 5:44Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Right?
- 5:45Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I mean everything isn't always the uh Yeah, it's uh it's not always not always fun, right?
- 6:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I mean looking forward to an appointment and some of you might might be like, well, what kind of appointment what was this?
- 6:16Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And it was completely illegal uh at the the appointment, and it was uh again, it was it was disappointing because I had been I'd been looking forward to it.
- 6:35Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh whereas if you asked me 20 years ago, I would probably have a different answer.
- 6:45Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: More than likely, I would have a different answer, like, oh, thank goodness.
- 6:52Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But that's not how it is.
- 6:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So that's that.
- 6:58Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So we just have to learn and take our minds and not beat ourselves up about it, because there's nothing we could do about it.
- 7:12Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I mean, we can get upset and bummed about it, but if it's outside our control, it's outside our control, and so this was one of those uh, you know, a time like these where when it occurs, just have to be ready to reschedule, be flexible, and then to show up for that rescheduled appointment.
- 7:51Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Yesterday I was pretty pretty toasty outside.
- 7:56Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's over ninety degrees, and it's summertime.
- 8:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's amazing how how summer here in the United States seems to only last a very short amount of time, and it may be like that where you live too.
- 8:24Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's like once you get kind of used to it in a little bit, in like a sense, then all of a sudden, you know, snap of a finger, summer's over, it's fall.
- 8:43Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so where we live, we have winter, spring, summer, fall.
- 8:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have four seasons.
- 8:54Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Not every location does.
- 9:00Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like for instance, uh I think Hawaii, they very rarely have a winter and very rarely have snow.
- 9:13Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: They have had snow in recent memory.
- 9:22Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But those are those are things that are far and few between.
- 9:30Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So there's no plows or salt trucks or in a location like that.
- 9:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's gonna snow once every 30 years or once every 20 or 10 years.
- 9:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But the getting back to the appointment, it takes a toll a little bit on the mental health.
- 10:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Because, right, like our mind's in motion of going to an appointment, and so then we have to kind of stop and tell ourselves this is not my fault, I couldn't control it, and and mentally that can be a challenge, right?
- 10:47Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Like, oh, here we go.
- 10:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Just another thing that is going wrong.
- 10:56Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Oh, I I I needed to go to this, and now I have to reschedule, and I have to reschedule, and that's maybe a month down the road, or a period of time that's longer than usual.
- 11:19Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So then our minds have to go into you know, that coping.
- 11:26Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: How do we cope with learning about not having an appointment?
- 11:36Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So, how do we do that?
- 11:38Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Do we ground ourselves?
- 11:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm sitting here, I feel my eyes blinking.
- 11:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I stick my tongue out.
- 11:54Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But Joe, by the way, is sticking the tongue out.
- 11:57Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh I was uh it's hard to believe some some some some social media posts that I saw this one said, you know, reducing cortisol, which comes along with stress.
- 12:17Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Our body doesn't know a difference between good stress or bad stress.
- 12:22Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Anyways, the ideal state is to have cortisol as low as possible so you have the least amount of stress and anxiety.
- 12:33Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so the social media post I saw said that if you stick your tongue out for 40 seconds, it will lower your cortisol more than any.
- 12:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I forget what I should have written down, should have written down what they compared that to.
- 13:00Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But apparently it's on the list, and apparently somebody tried it.
- 13:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That's that's that's what I find interesting.
- 13:11Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You get these different studies, and say, man, somebody had to try this for it to get to the point where it's actually being inserted into a social media post.
- 13:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So I guess what I've done the last couple of days, I've stuck my tongue out for 40 seconds, and I don't know if it's lowered my cortisol or lowered my anxiety or stress, but it's just it's a little bit a little bit funny, a little bit cheeky.
- 13:57Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So give it a shot, it might work again.
- 14:01Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm not not advertising this, it's not a sponsor at all.
- 14:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh, it was just something that made me laugh, and we all could use more time laughing than being serious, right?
- 14:18Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I mean, so much of what we do in society is gotta be professional, we have to talk a certain way, we have to dress a certain way, and there's all these rules or unwritten rules.
- 14:43Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Why don't we why can't we just be ourselves?
- 14:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And even if a joke or something seems far out, we should be able to laugh at it.
- 14:58Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And not take a not take a personal.
- 15:04Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And that's that's another hard hard uh spot to be in.
- 15:12Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Trying not to take the work we do home each day, so to have a little bit of boundaries where we're not gonna flare up about something work-related when we're spending time with our family.
- 15:35Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And I know I can do a better job of that, most certainly.
- 15:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I can definitely do better.
- 15:48Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Yeah, stick your tongue off for 40 seconds.
- 15:51Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Hopefully, your anxiety and stress uh due to lower cortisol will be helpful for you.
- 16:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Uh again, I thought it was caught my attention, and right, isn't that what you know social media and that's supposed to do is to catch our attention.
- 16:14Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's so many, so many posts, so many reels, stories, tick tocks, whatever tickles your fancy.
- 16:31Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so to capture a person's attention means more reviews, more clicks, and more money for who has posted a particular informational post?
- 16:58Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Some will be in video form, some will be in like a static photo, like a point in time that this picture, this photo was taken.
- 17:15Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So how do you react when an appointment is changed at the last minute or close to the last minute?
- 17:27Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You kind of just roll with the roll with what's going on, or does it does it bother you?
- 17:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Let us know in the comments.
- 17:44Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Let us know in the comments.
- 17:48Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You definitely have to check out, you gotta check out our description because you may not know, but we have a merch shop with a ton of great options.
- 18:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I think we got over a hundred, a hundred different pieces of merchandise that we're selling, and again, here in the United States, the uh any purchase from the merch shop, from our books, like you see it behind my shoulder here, and others, young siren born, the Adolan, check out Voices for Voices Publishing, Mythical Creatures Around the World Facebook page.
- 18:43Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's just a lot of activity that's that's going on, and it's trying to share as much as we can uh as early as we can.
- 18:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But as you I think can appreciate, is if we talk about something too early, then our competitors use that against us.
- 19:10Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And we've seen this time and time again, where that's exactly what happens.
- 19:17Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Take some information and it's like, wait a minute.
- 19:28Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I didn't I didn't know we shared that.
- 19:31Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And then we we talk and we're like, we didn't share that.
- 19:40Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, just let your mind wander on that.
- 19:46Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: What's your plans for the weekend?
- 19:49Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: What are you and your family?
- 19:52Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You and your friends, what are you up to?
- 19:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Whatever it is, you know, I hope it's uh safe.
- 20:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We're sending our love and support to you, whether you are a believer or not.
- 20:14Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Positive vibes are better than negative vibes.
- 20:21Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So if we never come out of that so serious mindset and talking, it's gonna be I don't know.
- 20:37Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's gonna be something.
- 20:40Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But it's not gonna be anything like I mean that you know, from a girl's and woman's standpoint they they say, you know, let your hair down.
- 20:56Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You know, just be yourself.
- 20:59Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Same things from a guy perspective, even if we don't have long hair, just be yourself.
- 21:11Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I already know a lot of my flaws, and I'm okay with it, because my flaws might match somewhat or a lot with a person or persons out watching and listening to this particular episode where that individual says, you know what?
- 21:39Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: I'm not the only one that does this or has this.
- 21:45Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's somebody else, and they're talking about it.
- 21:51Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Again, I'm no superhero, I'm no, I'm just a human being.
- 22:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Yeah, we live or we were born, we live, and we die.
- 22:09Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And so as much as I've at times earlier in my life wanted to kind of speed up the time, like make time go faster.
- 22:24Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Now I sit here at the age of 44, wishing that the time goes slower.
- 22:36Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But as we talked about on a at least one previous episode, time doesn't stand still.
- 22:44Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: There's something you want to do, something you want to try, somewhere you want to go, an experience, an event.
- 22:57Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Man, you gotta do it.
- 23:00Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You just got you just have to do it.
- 23:05Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: You might say, oh, it's easy for you to say.
- 23:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: No, it's not.
- 23:09Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's not easy for me to say.
- 23:16Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Yeah, we do.
- 23:17Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have a lot.
- 23:18Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We have 555.
- 23:21Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: This episode, 556.
- 23:26Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But we started at zero at one point in time.
- 23:31Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And then we started after that at one.
- 23:38Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: All the way up to a hundred, two hundred, three hundred, four hundred, five hundred, five hundred and fifty, five hundred and fifty five, and now five hundred and fifty six.
- 23:54Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's not easy to do.
- 23:57Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's it's a chore.
- 24:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But we're helping people.
- 24:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We pray for others.
- 24:09Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We pray for ourselves.
- 24:18Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And if somebody's upset that we're praying for them, they have that they have that ability to do that.
- 24:27Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: They can be upset.
- 24:29Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But when we pray for people, it's to help.
- 24:38Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: That's what that's what it's there for.
- 24:42Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's the help.
- 24:46Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So if you're upset, we prayed for you at one point in time.
- 24:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Well, before I go to bed and in the morning, I pray for me and the whole world.
- 25:07Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And including the whole world are people who may be considered enemies.
- 25:16Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: But we still pray for.
- 25:33Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Still all human beings.
- 25:41Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So thank you for joining us in this episode.
- 25:45Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: If you can give us thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost, get that phone out if it's not already out.
- 25:55Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Share the Voices for Voices podcast with 25 year contacts.
- 26:00Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We greatly appreciate that.
- 26:02Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: It's free.
- 26:03Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Thank you for watching and listening here in the United States across the world.
- 26:08Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We love you.
- 26:10Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: We're sending our support.
- 26:13Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And we hope and pray that you are prosperous, whatever that looks like for you.
- 26:24Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: So we'll see you next time on the show.
- 26:27Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Until then, let's celebrate the voices of the world.
- 26:32Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: And let's not just be a voice for ourselves, but maybe somebody, somebody else in need that might not be able to share their voice so easily.
- 26:47Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Thank you, and we'll see you on the next show.
- 26:50Justin Alan Hayes, Voices for Voices: Bye bye for now.
