- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Gonzo posted something I guess that kind of indicate.
- 0:25Speaker 4: What So yeah, he posted on Concussed.
- 0:27Speaker 5: He posted on his alt account, so a lot.
- 0:31Speaker 6: I can't explain it.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Don here's plays sad songs.
- 0:37Speaker 6: And keeping you done.
- 0:43Speaker 7: I'm saying they were badly affected by those personnel laws.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Sure but they still won the game. Sure but they
- 0:49Speaker 4: but not and you don't even care about the run.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Paul the win on Sunday prevented the discussion that he
- 0:54Speaker 3: can't or has never won a playoff game. However, next
- 0:57Speaker 3: up will be he has never won it away playoff game.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I hope he never has to play with himself.
- 1:03Speaker 7: I just want to know what the voices are in
- 1:05Speaker 7: these people's heads.
- 1:06Speaker 6: So I think they've been tested.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Parillo Texans have edge because they're tested.
- 1:12Speaker 8: I think he was in Diggs and then I saw him,
- 1:14Speaker 8: you know, with Taylor and Alex Bars and.
- 1:16Speaker 4: You know, comparing some film grind notes. Maybe the B.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Case somebody did exceptionally well.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Okay, we'll find out.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Freddie Fields, Well for a second, No, you don't have
- 1:30Speaker 3: to worry about it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Come on, This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:36Speaker 4: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:40Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:42Speaker 3: It is Thursday here at j Let's Stadium, Divisional playoff round.
- 1:48Speaker 6: Freddy, it's coming, Houston.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Texans age, He's coming. And you know what else might
- 1:53Speaker 1: be coming?
- 1:55Speaker 4: Snow Snow.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I just heard this as a late breaking development that
- 2:01Speaker 3: there might be a pattern headed our way.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's good they're doing the European models versus the.
- 2:11Speaker 4: European Brazilian models.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Anyway, it's even as Paul, it's me. It's deuced.
- 2:15Speaker 3: It's Alex and Alex and Matt in the booth and
- 2:19Speaker 3: we are here talking Patriots.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So what do we know about this weather thing? Because
- 2:24Speaker 1: this is the latest thing I've heard attaining to.
- 2:27Speaker 4: The light snow I heard.
- 2:28Speaker 5: I heard there there's a fork in the road with
- 2:32Speaker 5: this weather where if it goes one way, it's going
- 2:34Speaker 5: to miss us, but if it goes the other way,
- 2:36Speaker 5: it's it's going to hit us.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And how hard?
- 2:39Speaker 5: Uh? It sounds like it's not going to be like
- 2:42Speaker 5: a blizzard or anything, but the regulation there could be
- 2:45Speaker 5: you know, like a wintery mixed.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Moods, huge snow.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I mean that's still conditions, like we're still dealing with weather. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 5: I'm not going to say that that I'm too too
- 3:03Speaker 5: worried about all this yet, but that is uh that
- 3:07Speaker 5: that you know, I was reading about it a little
- 3:09Speaker 5: bit this morning, and I guess it's like, you know,
- 3:11Speaker 5: in either a worse situation like I like, either it's
- 3:14Speaker 5: going to hit or it's gonna push be pushed into
- 3:17Speaker 5: the ocean and not.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Sometimes I get Alex's point, but sometimes when they say
- 3:21Speaker 3: you know it's coming, it really is coming, you know,
- 3:24Speaker 3: when there's really definite three four days.
- 3:27Speaker 7: How's point is they don't know this far and advance
- 3:30Speaker 7: when like they know there's a storm coming, but you
- 3:33Speaker 7: know precisely when it hits, Yeah, which can make a
- 3:35Speaker 7: big difference.
- 3:36Speaker 6: Yep, depending on the time and game.
- 3:38Speaker 5: And this is more does it go out over the
- 3:41Speaker 5: water and miss us versus does it hit us? I
- 3:44Speaker 5: think not what time of the day it's gonna come.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Okay, all right, So that's something to keep your eye
- 3:49Speaker 3: on as well. As the injury report. We got our
- 3:52Speaker 3: first participation report yesterday, and as we said, Gonzo was
- 3:58Speaker 3: on the field in a red non contact jersey.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Uh, and Nico Collins was not on the field according
- 4:05Speaker 3: to the Texans report. Yeah, so that's what we thought
- 4:08Speaker 3: might happen, But now we have it in writing.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yep.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Yeah, based on what we saw a little bit of
- 4:16Speaker 5: practice yesterday, I would say there's a really good chance
- 4:20Speaker 5: that the Patriots are going to have all hands on
- 4:21Speaker 5: deck on Sunday. I mean, like Morgan Moses is not
- 4:25Speaker 5: practice on Wednesdays for like two months, you know, he
- 4:28Speaker 5: gets kind of like a veteran day every Wednesday.
- 4:30Speaker 6: So I would be.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Inclined to say that it's trending in that direction that
- 4:35Speaker 5: they're probably going to have everybody on the active rosters.
- 4:38Speaker 5: So obviously still no mac Collins, but everybody else is
- 4:41Speaker 5: going to play that is on the roster right now.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It seems like a lot of knees.
- 4:47Speaker 8: Morgan, Moses, there Munford both did not participate with these
- 4:49Speaker 8: but I think there Munford played he probably.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Yeah, he played through the knee last week. And Moses,
- 4:55Speaker 5: like I said, like you could just put rest on it.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I wanted to see resteah.
- 4:59Speaker 8: I mean that Henry probably rest. Anthony Jennings probably maybe rest.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I don't know. He's another one hunter, Henry Jennings knee,
- 5:08Speaker 4: Harold Landry knee.
- 5:10Speaker 7: Jennings and Henry were worried the guy with the hamstrings,
- 5:12Speaker 7: and I might be worried about me.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Yeah, Henry's had a knee thing going on for a
- 5:17Speaker 5: while now, a couple of weeks, and then both of
- 5:21Speaker 5: those guys did the It's interesting how they do it
- 5:24Speaker 5: like they have.
- 5:25Speaker 6: They skip the individual.
- 5:27Speaker 5: Periods of practice at the beginning, and then they only
- 5:31Speaker 5: come out for a team at the end instead of
- 5:35Speaker 5: you would usually think it would be the other way around.
- 5:37Speaker 5: If they were trying to, you know, give them some rest,
- 5:40Speaker 5: they wouldn't participate in eleven on eleven's, But it seems
- 5:43Speaker 5: like they sometimes flip it so you actually you.
- 5:46Speaker 6: Get out there, they're not out there.
- 5:48Speaker 5: And then they're actually limited on the practice report because
- 5:51Speaker 5: they did actually end up out there by the end
- 5:52Speaker 5: of practice.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Booty still on it with the hamstring, no, no, yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 3: that's nice.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Yeah, and Jennings mopped up too.
- 6:01Speaker 8: I was gonna say the remember in training camp when
- 6:03Speaker 8: that first happened, and we're like, this guy's absent might
- 6:05Speaker 8: have been Morgan Moses. Yeah, and then like halfway through
- 6:08Speaker 8: practice he just walked out and hop.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Right individ drills. Its kind of jarring. I remember that
- 6:13Speaker 4: a couple of guys.
- 6:13Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's how that was the case with both
- 6:16Speaker 5: Jennings and Henry yesterday. So it's weird. You know, it's
- 6:20Speaker 5: different than Bill.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think it's more like beneficial and a preparation from
- 6:25Speaker 2: a preparation standpoint, because they're doing the team drills.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think that there it's a load management
- 6:32Speaker 5: situation and they must count those reps at the beginning
- 6:35Speaker 5: of practice, even though they're against air as some sort
- 6:39Speaker 5: of Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 8: Ultimately, the most important thing is getting into the offense
- 6:43Speaker 8: or defense and knowing what the game plan is, what
- 6:46Speaker 8: the calls are going to be, and you know, getting
- 6:48Speaker 8: that that going, rather than we really need you to
- 6:50Speaker 8: work on a fumble drill right now, like at this
- 6:52Speaker 8: point in the season, the team stuff's the valuable stuff.
- 6:55Speaker 4: But even in the summer, that's what they were. They
- 6:57Speaker 4: were doing a good extent.
- 6:58Speaker 8: Pepermandray might have one day to got that treatment, So
- 7:01Speaker 8: that makes a rable thing Uh, so that's that.
- 7:05Speaker 3: The other piece of news that happened pretty much overnight
- 7:09Speaker 3: is that it looks like John Harbaugh is going to
- 7:11Speaker 3: be the next head coach of the New York Giants.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Yeah, not surprising that he'd landed pretty quick, but we.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Did talk yesterday to see he didn't take a little longer.
- 7:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I think he must be pretty confident that Green
- 7:23Speaker 7: Bay is not going to open up, that Buffalo is
- 7:25Speaker 7: not going to open up, and yeah, these are the
- 7:27Speaker 7: opening so now he knew.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Yeah, stability.
- 7:30Speaker 8: As Evan said we were talking before, like just franchises
- 7:33Speaker 8: searching for stability and something they can, you know, get
- 7:37Speaker 8: off of the roller coaster of up and down. And
- 7:40Speaker 8: seems like the Giants have some good pieces though, I mean,
- 7:42Speaker 8: I think, but I think that's a pretty good job
- 7:45Speaker 8: to take. I mean, not not having to do with
- 7:48Speaker 8: New York, but at least at the time being, you
- 7:50Speaker 8: are going to go into this season thinking maybe Jackson
- 7:52Speaker 8: Dart is the guy, and you have an elite weapon,
- 7:54Speaker 8: hopefully in Elie Neighbors that's going to come back and see.
- 7:57Speaker 3: The dynamic that I'm most interested in is the Jets
- 8:00Speaker 3: versus Giants in that market. Because the Jets of Oways been,
- 8:05Speaker 3: you know, the little brother to the Giants, and here
- 8:08Speaker 3: we go again, right, you know, the Giants now get
- 8:11Speaker 3: the marquee head coach, and we're still kind of fledgling
- 8:14Speaker 3: with this guy that we're not even sure about.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You know, the Jets just can't win. They can't win.
- 8:20Speaker 4: No, and then and then what the quarterback?
- 8:23Speaker 6: Yeah, and I did find this interesting.
- 8:24Speaker 7: Dante Moore decided to stay in school, which I think
- 8:28Speaker 7: is probably a good move for him because he's one
- 8:30Speaker 7: of those guys that I think he's very good, but
- 8:32Speaker 7: he hasn't played a lot. I think this is the
- 8:34Speaker 7: only year he's been the starter. So a lot of
- 8:37Speaker 7: people are now, what's very unjets like to me? And
- 8:39Speaker 7: I'm curious with Mike and Evan as the resident draft gurus,
- 8:44Speaker 7: think a lot of people are trying to spin this
- 8:47Speaker 7: now that maybe this is a blessing in disguise for
- 8:49Speaker 7: the Jets because now they won't kind of be forced
- 8:53Speaker 7: into quote unquote forced into taking more with the second pick.
- 8:56Speaker 7: They have all this draft capital, maybe they can get
- 8:59Speaker 7: to work on the on the roster with some picks.
- 9:02Speaker 7: They'll have flexibility moving forward next year because they still
- 9:05Speaker 7: have some of those picks and some of those trades
- 9:07Speaker 7: they made from from India and Dallas. Next year too,
- 9:11Speaker 7: they'll have the capital to move up if there's a
- 9:14Speaker 7: quarterback they want. But they can sort of just focus
- 9:16Speaker 7: on getting the best players as opposed to shoehorning in
- 9:20Speaker 7: the quarterback.
- 9:20Speaker 6: I don't know how you guys feel about that.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I wasn't convinced that Dante More is going to
- 9:24Speaker 5: go number two overall. I think he's really raw. I
- 9:26Speaker 5: think he's got a long way to go.
- 9:28Speaker 9: Now.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Maybe the allure of quarterback talent just pushed him up
- 9:32Speaker 5: the board.
- 9:32Speaker 6: But like, especially after how.
- 9:35Speaker 5: He looked in the playoff against Indiana, I was like,
- 9:37Speaker 5: this guy's got to go back to school.
- 9:38Speaker 7: Well, I agree, and this is the only year. But
- 9:40Speaker 7: the one thing I would say about that is if
- 9:42Speaker 7: you don't take them, that hangs over you.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yeah, Like what if.
- 9:47Speaker 7: Dantemore ends up being good and you passed up on him,
- 9:49Speaker 7: you end up like Miami and you took Tua instead
- 9:53Speaker 7: of Herbert, you know, And that's been hanging over them since,
- 9:57Speaker 7: even though Herbert just had a horrific playoff game.
- 9:59Speaker 4: They just need so much much. It's I think I
- 10:01Speaker 4: just saw mock draft.
- 10:02Speaker 8: I think it might have been Brugler where they went
- 10:03Speaker 8: with Reese from Ohio State, the linebacker edge guy. But
- 10:08Speaker 8: that's like with the Jets, he only has so many
- 10:10Speaker 8: pieces right now.
- 10:11Speaker 4: So but I like that.
- 10:15Speaker 6: I was just looking at some of the Jets stuff coming.
- 10:18Speaker 8: I get what they're saying, though, It's just you know,
- 10:19Speaker 8: you're slotted into that spot and you need a quarterback,
- 10:22Speaker 8: and you're in the range of when you got to
- 10:23Speaker 8: get the quarterback, and there's a lot of pressure to
- 10:25Speaker 8: make that move, even if you don't love the player
- 10:28Speaker 8: with every fiber you're being Patriots were so lucky to
- 10:31Speaker 8: never find a player.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I think I would take a lot of convincing if
- 10:34Speaker 5: I was the Jets to draft another quarterback in the
- 10:38Speaker 5: top five that wasn't a Fernando Mendoza, Trevor Lawrence, Andrew
- 10:42Speaker 5: luck type of prospect, like because and I don't even
- 10:45Speaker 5: know if Mendoz is in that category, but like the
- 10:48Speaker 5: it has to be something like they've like Zach Wilson,
- 10:51Speaker 5: Sam Darnold, Like how many more times are you gonna
- 10:54Speaker 5: do that where you draft like the second quarterback off
- 10:58Speaker 5: the board or the third quarterback off the I just
- 11:01Speaker 5: would be surprised, wouldn't be surprised if the Jets look
- 11:03Speaker 5: elsewhere at quarterback and try to to go with a veteran,
- 11:08Speaker 5: try to do the Baker Mayfield thing or whatever and
- 11:11Speaker 5: try to do it that way, because they've tried the
- 11:14Speaker 5: draft thing for my entire life.
- 11:16Speaker 6: It feels fifteen plus years and they can't get it right.
- 11:20Speaker 6: So I know it's that's mad at the Patriots, you
- 11:23Speaker 6: know how everybody hates them.
- 11:25Speaker 7: The Jets hate the Patriots because they just can't do it,
- 11:28Speaker 7: and the Patriots took them five years to do it.
- 11:30Speaker 6: The feeling is mutual, No, I'm just saying, like that
- 11:32Speaker 6: whole mental it's a terrible first round, by.
- 11:34Speaker 1: The way, and other things. A little controversy controversial. Robert
- 11:41Speaker 1: Spulane is.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Some people don't believe him when he says that he
- 11:48Speaker 3: was approached and told by players on the Chargers that,
- 11:52Speaker 3: you know, we confuse them defensively.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Yeah, that coming to Greg the great Creig Cosell, who's
- 11:59Speaker 5: a ball knower for sure, definitely one of the O
- 12:01Speaker 5: G ball knowers as well in the media.
- 12:04Speaker 6: But yeah, he called it bs that.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Robert Splaine claimed that the Chargers players were confused by
- 12:10Speaker 5: what the Patriots were doing defense, So you.
- 12:12Speaker 10: Know, again called him a liar, but you know he
- 12:16Speaker 10: called him, how else were you? The thing is that
- 12:20Speaker 10: I don't know. The thing is I don't know is
- 12:24Speaker 10: what is he calling bs?
- 12:25Speaker 6: That he thought that didn't do anything creative?
- 12:30Speaker 1: A player didn't tellin Splaine that.
- 12:34Speaker 6: You know, if he's if that's a very that's a
- 12:36Speaker 6: semantics it isn't. No, I think it's either way. Cosell
- 12:41Speaker 6: is wrong.
- 12:42Speaker 3: No, it's not semantics because if a player didn't in
- 12:44Speaker 3: fact tell Splaine that, then Splaine is lying. But if
- 12:48Speaker 3: a player told him that, but Cosell doesn't agree that
- 12:51Speaker 3: they did anything confusing, Okay, that's fine.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I agree with calling BS those players shouldn't have been
- 12:58Speaker 1: confused because the player was.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Not how it was presented. But I hear what you're saying,
- 13:03Speaker 5: but that's not so.
- 13:04Speaker 7: Do you think Cosell's point was they shouldn't have been
- 13:07Speaker 7: confused by this stuff.
- 13:08Speaker 6: It wasn't anything overly exotic.
- 13:10Speaker 5: I think his point was that he doesn't believe that
- 13:13Speaker 5: that actually happened, that he didn't see it that way.
- 13:15Speaker 3: But but he didn't think the Chargers does he believe
- 13:18Speaker 3: that somebody told Spolaine.
- 13:20Speaker 6: That I don't know.
- 13:22Speaker 2: You have to ask that I could on the basis
- 13:25Speaker 2: of the whole thing.
- 13:26Speaker 7: Because you said that he called Spelaine a liar, right right? Yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 7: I think I think I'm with friend. Yeah, that's okay,
- 13:32Speaker 7: you can be with I don't think he called him
- 13:34Speaker 7: a liar.
- 13:35Speaker 2: You can't have what is he lying about?
- 13:37Speaker 1: What is he lying?
- 13:38Speaker 2: The only thing he could? These people told me which way.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It's a big difference. If somebody I don't need to
- 13:45Speaker 1: argue about this. Samanta really doesn't know because we're trying
- 13:48Speaker 1: to decide whether or not we want to.
- 13:54Speaker 6: I'm not trying to decide. I already made up my mind.
- 13:57Speaker 6: I don't think we have to go.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And that's a big call.
- 14:01Speaker 6: I don't think we have to go that far.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm in my war room and I'm deciding whether or
- 14:06Speaker 1: not I'm calling out the forces here.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Where is he sending the drones?
- 14:09Speaker 7: It's only the divisional rounde. I don't want to waste it.
- 14:12Speaker 7: You know, we might need that next week.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So you know, did someone say that to Splaine? That's
- 14:19Speaker 1: the key? Yes or no?
- 14:21Speaker 2: I mean has come out and said on the Chargers.
- 14:24Speaker 2: That's not true.
- 14:26Speaker 5: I'm going to take Robert Splaine as a man of
- 14:29Speaker 5: his word. I am not going to assume that he
- 14:31Speaker 5: would stand up at the podium at a press conference
- 14:33Speaker 5: and lie.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Spalaine is such a football guy. He really doesn't give
- 14:39Speaker 2: you a ton. It's just a lot of like I
- 14:41Speaker 2: love football. For him to stray off of that says something.
- 14:46Speaker 5: We talked to him yesterday in the locker room, and
- 14:48Speaker 5: I was like, I was kind of surprised you said that,
- 14:50Speaker 5: because you're not usually the guy that did.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I'm as joyful as I've ever seen him after that game.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I tend to think that what thinks is bs that
- 15:00Speaker 3: the Patriots did anything that exotic to confuse them.
- 15:03Speaker 6: Well, I would also say that that then now I
- 15:05Speaker 6: would also call him a liar.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Oh, well, that's you're using the word liar in the
- 15:10Speaker 1: wrong way.
- 15:11Speaker 5: That's that's well, I would say, Greg Cosella is now lying, No,
- 15:15Speaker 5: that's his opinion.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Well, he's wrong, okay, But that doesn't make him a liar.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Well it does because the film is the film.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Like, there's no way to interpret film differently, not not.
- 15:26Speaker 6: Not really like if you know what you're watching, No,
- 15:28Speaker 6: I just need we just need.
- 15:30Speaker 3: To be careful about when we call people liars. I
- 15:32Speaker 3: find that's strong accusation.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Okay, well, I'm obviously like not like I'm not kind
- 15:38Speaker 5: of killed guy, like I'm not that serious.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Kind of when you call someone a liar.
- 15:42Speaker 6: Well, he called Robert Spolene a liar, so I'm gonna
- 15:45Speaker 6: call him a liar.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I did not call Okay, I don't think he's called again.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I don't think he's calling Spoleayne a liar. I think
- 15:52Speaker 3: what he's saying is that he doesn't agree with what
- 15:56Speaker 3: someone told Spolaine.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Okay, well, I would just to ask him, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 5: I can, we can pull up the tape. Roll the tape,
- 16:05Speaker 5: like there's third down plays out there where they look
- 16:07Speaker 5: like they're going to be in man pre snap. They
- 16:09Speaker 5: fall into his own post snap and justin Herbert's looking
- 16:12Speaker 5: around like he has no idea where to go at
- 16:13Speaker 5: the ball.
- 16:14Speaker 6: And that's how I love that Robert splane himself.
- 16:19Speaker 5: You know, it's fourth and goal on the goal line,
- 16:21Speaker 5: and he comes up through the line of scrimmage unblocked.
- 16:25Speaker 5: They confused them, They broke down their protections, like I
- 16:28Speaker 5: don't know how else you could.
- 16:29Speaker 3: And you believe Cassell is one hundred percent wrong, And
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'm I'm I'm with you there.
- 16:33Speaker 1: That's fine. Yeah, yeah, that's all. Let's not call people liar.
- 16:37Speaker 6: I'm kidding.
- 16:40Speaker 1: About a liar, because that would be a big thing.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Yeah, if the player is going out and saying things
- 16:48Speaker 3: that's making stuff up, cloth that would be you know, and.
- 16:52Speaker 6: Like that's why I am defending. And I don't think
- 16:55Speaker 6: he did that.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I would imagine if he had made that up, there
- 16:57Speaker 3: would be a charger or two who would say, I
- 17:00Speaker 3: don't know what he's talking about.
- 17:02Speaker 2: They really hate their coaches and that's not happened.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Well, listen, you know, you gotta be careful. We got
- 17:09Speaker 1: to be careful.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Semantics. Yeah, it's important.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 3: And and what Tony says two people a player internex
- 17:17Speaker 3: player on either Get Up or NFL Live. I don't
- 17:20Speaker 3: remember what both said they couldn't tell what the defense
- 17:23Speaker 3: the Patriots were, So that should be said to to Sell.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Well, apparently he knows football at a higher level than
- 17:31Speaker 5: all the rest.
- 17:32Speaker 7: I think that his response to that would be is
- 17:34Speaker 7: Orlosky's lying, That's what I think he would say. I think,
- 17:39Speaker 7: according to Cosell, anything that so confusing. I think that's
- 17:44Speaker 7: Cosell's point. Okay, but I mean, I don't know.
- 17:49Speaker 6: I have no dog in this fight Cosell.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But Alasky doesn't know what he's talking about. That would
- 17:55Speaker 3: be more accurate.
- 17:57Speaker 11: He it was.
- 18:00Speaker 5: It was just the way that it was presented is
- 18:05Speaker 5: obviously very key in this business, because we sometimes present
- 18:08Speaker 5: things to be hot, taky and more clickbaity than they
- 18:11Speaker 5: actually are. But he said, you know, he saw the
- 18:15Speaker 5: splaying quote. I happened to see the splaying quote before
- 18:19Speaker 5: I watched the tape. I thought that's bs. I think
- 18:22Speaker 5: that's a lot of garbage.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Not the quote, but the fact that they were confused.
- 18:26Speaker 3: That's my interpretation either way.
- 18:28Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's a little bit either way.
- 18:34Speaker 1: All right, it's a little ball know we well listen, Paul,
- 18:38Speaker 1: when the ballners go at each other, it's the best
- 18:41Speaker 1: step back and let them go to the records too.
- 18:43Speaker 6: Yeah, because you never know who's gonna come on.
- 18:45Speaker 1: We're not breaking up that fight.
- 18:47Speaker 6: That's the best I saw yesterday.
- 18:50Speaker 5: I saw Kurt Warner and J. T. O. Sullivan going
- 18:53Speaker 5: back and forth at each other. Runs the QB School page,
- 18:57Speaker 5: which is really really good breakdowns on quarterbacks, and they
- 19:00Speaker 5: were talking about throwing slants against quarters, and Kurt Warner
- 19:05Speaker 5: was claiming that he loved his slants against quarters, and
- 19:08Speaker 5: JT was saying, how do you throw slants against quarters?
- 19:11Speaker 5: That's a dumb thing to do. And they were going
- 19:13Speaker 5: back and forth, and then they started talking about Nickels
- 19:16Speaker 5: and Mike's and like all this different stuff and they
- 19:19Speaker 5: were really getting into it.
- 19:20Speaker 6: It was great.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I love that.
- 19:22Speaker 6: It was awesome.
- 19:23Speaker 8: That's great, But does not say a lot that two
- 19:25Speaker 8: guys who both play quarterback in the league and have
- 19:28Speaker 8: played in different systems and studied a lot that even
- 19:31Speaker 8: they can disagree with them it anywhere.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, well JT did a little, But still.
- 19:38Speaker 7: I'm not saying that means that he doesn't know anything
- 19:40Speaker 7: about football, because I hate when people do that, like, oh,
- 19:43Speaker 7: you didn't play, you don't know, Like just because JT. O.
- 19:46Speaker 7: Sullivan wasn't as good at quarterback as Kurt won, it
- 19:49Speaker 7: doesn't mean he's wrong in that argument.
- 19:51Speaker 8: Yeah, And I mean, and you know, Kurt Warner now
- 19:53Speaker 8: is in the analyst space, and I think gto Sullivan
- 19:55Speaker 8: is coaching it as well. You know, I don't I
- 19:58Speaker 8: think the high school level, but still, it's just better
- 20:00Speaker 8: had more than his share of interceptions, didn't he? Yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 8: I know maybe he Every time he did it was
- 20:09Speaker 8: a slant.
- 20:12Speaker 4: You you just cut the time. I love throwing slants
- 20:16Speaker 4: quarters and just Tyler running into.
- 20:18Speaker 5: The Super Bowl thirty as a tiebreaker in this situation.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Peyton Manning has said before that he didn't like his
- 20:26Speaker 5: slants and his seams against quarters. And so when I
- 20:29Speaker 5: saw Kurt Warners saying that he that he likes to
- 20:34Speaker 5: throw slants against quarters, I was surprised.
- 20:36Speaker 6: I was like, really that all.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Right, good stuff, that's why you got a crime. Love it,
- 20:43Speaker 1: love it, love it.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Put these guys in the Starbucks and just let him
- 20:46Speaker 2: do it.
- 20:46Speaker 6: Out good good reference to the Starbucks right around this
- 20:49Speaker 6: time last year.
- 20:50Speaker 5: All right, up right, I know I'm going to set
- 20:54Speaker 5: the combine now and he's gonna.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Be like, you like call me a liar? Well, yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 1: ben ball one back, and yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 6: I get somebody like a little better than who would
- 21:05Speaker 6: you want?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Kyle?
- 21:07Speaker 6: Yeah, Taylor speaking Taylor, big boy to go there.
- 21:10Speaker 2: But he is very nice, but it is too nice
- 21:16Speaker 2: to find the intimidation fact.
- 21:18Speaker 6: He's not too nice. He's put together, he's not too
- 21:22Speaker 6: nice at all?
- 21:24Speaker 1: Current U current?
- 21:27Speaker 6: Now give me Taylor. If I wouldn't be over until currents, did.
- 21:33Speaker 9: You want to be.
- 21:36Speaker 1: A week later? He'd still be fighting. Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 6: Otherwise you don't have a lot of options.
- 21:41Speaker 1: No, no, we are not.
- 21:45Speaker 6: You might be in the mix. I mean it's you're
- 21:47Speaker 6: too nice.
- 21:47Speaker 2: To Yeah, myself is a ring I can scratch.
- 21:52Speaker 6: Is like the third grade. We did have some media
- 21:54Speaker 6: media head yesterday. Yeah that's not Evan will fill you in.
- 22:01Speaker 6: He was telling he was telling us in the locker room.
- 22:04Speaker 5: No, I don't want to talk about it. It's it's
- 22:06Speaker 5: not we shouldn't talk about it. But yeah, it was funny.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Good though.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Boy, I tell you things are heating up, not just
- 22:12Speaker 1: on the field.
- 22:12Speaker 6: It's like we've never been here before. How many how
- 22:15Speaker 6: many times you've gone in this level? I mean honestly,
- 22:20Speaker 6: not a lot of people on the beat have it.
- 22:22Speaker 4: I mean we'll show him how to Yeah, I like
- 22:25Speaker 4: he's been there before.
- 22:27Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just like old friend, old friend, Brian Moorey
- 22:31Speaker 7: sent said friend a little uh little.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Who recently so.
- 22:38Speaker 7: Yeah, today you know one of I guess a friend
- 22:41Speaker 7: of his has a son who's big draft draft knick
- 22:45Speaker 7: and he's got this database or something he's putting together
- 22:47Speaker 7: a website or whatever.
- 22:49Speaker 6: I kept. I didn't.
- 22:50Speaker 7: I didn't get rid of. I just can't really let
- 22:51Speaker 7: it out. I just responded to said, well, we're on
- 22:56Speaker 7: the way to a Super Bowl run. We don't have
- 22:57Speaker 7: to help us right now.
- 22:58Speaker 3: But before the the full stories, he said that to
- 23:02Speaker 3: Paul and I, and he said, hey, could you take
- 23:03Speaker 3: a look at it and give me back your your Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 6: So I did try to. It looks like it's it's
- 23:09Speaker 6: a little involved.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah. So Paul's like, we're in the middle of getting
- 23:13Speaker 1: ready for it, you know, we don't have time for this.
- 23:15Speaker 12: And that was it.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And it wasn't even like a happy face after he.
- 23:22Speaker 2: For thinking of me. I'll get to this as soon
- 23:24Speaker 2: as I get a minute.
- 23:28Speaker 1: But you can see Brian reading that, you know he
- 23:33Speaker 1: did it. He didn't respond, He didn't reply.
- 23:36Speaker 7: No, I replied, all just because I thought you were
- 23:38Speaker 7: going to chuckle out of okay, I thought, But.
- 23:40Speaker 6: He and I went back and forth, But what is
- 23:43Speaker 6: the database?
- 23:43Speaker 4: I'm intrigued by this.
- 23:45Speaker 6: I'll send you. I'll send the other draft nicks.
- 23:50Speaker 4: We like databasis.
- 23:51Speaker 6: I wasn't paying attention the draft thing.
- 23:53Speaker 4: He said, he's got a databasis for a drafting.
- 23:56Speaker 6: You were very complimentary of me earlier in the week,
- 23:58Speaker 6: but I was a little disrespectful.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I wasn't really.
- 24:02Speaker 6: About somebody I don't know.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Go ahead, because we don't have a sponsor here. It's
- 24:08Speaker 1: called upnext draft dot com. Up next draft dot com.
- 24:14Speaker 2: It's going to be a random smart here's the feeling.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yeah, crash the server because it can handle ten people.
- 24:23Speaker 6: Server just crashed, everyone, go now do it?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Uh?
- 24:29Speaker 5: In all seriousness, though, there there's a lot of scuttle
- 24:31Speaker 5: butt about how bad this this draft is, in the
- 24:34Speaker 5: first round of this draft in particular, and if the
- 24:37Speaker 5: Patriots are picking what they're already going to be picking
- 24:40Speaker 5: in the twenty second anyway. So something a little food
- 24:44Speaker 5: for thought.
- 24:44Speaker 7: Well, I mean, I like it, And there's got to
- 24:46Speaker 7: be such a pessimist picking in the twenties now, But
- 24:49Speaker 7: this is what we talk about with like Kansas City
- 24:50Speaker 7: and stuff.
- 24:51Speaker 4: When you're in those late twenties, you kind of.
- 24:53Speaker 8: Sit and wait and maybe a position that you like
- 24:55Speaker 8: falls through the cracks because other people start to scramble.
- 24:58Speaker 8: So maybe it works out this year. It that's a
- 25:00Speaker 8: good spot to beat that you're going to get some
- 25:02Speaker 8: value down there. Patriots did fine for twenty years picking
- 25:05Speaker 8: low and say, yeah we had a quarterback. We have
- 25:09Speaker 8: one now too, don't worry about it.
- 25:11Speaker 6: That's true.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Logan makes Maybe you've heard Logan Mankins maybe, yeah, heard
- 25:17Speaker 4: of them.
- 25:17Speaker 6: Might have heard of Cold Strange too.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I'm having flashbacks of the Commanders. I don't know what
- 25:22Speaker 2: the Epic Commanders had to.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Pick poorly, all right.
- 25:26Speaker 6: I'm just saying, like for every Logan Mankins, there's.
- 25:30Speaker 2: The other side about the drop.
- 25:31Speaker 4: And we have a divisional game to play.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Oh boy, all right, all right, so what else do
- 25:38Speaker 3: we got? We got our halftime interview was.
- 25:41Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, it was great. We talked to Craig woods
- 25:42Speaker 8: yesterday and Evan and I were excited for that one.
- 25:45Speaker 8: Nobody's really talked to Craig Woodson a lot this year,
- 25:47Speaker 8: and he was he was great. We had a good conversation, Yeah,
- 25:50Speaker 8: very personable. Evan asked him a little bit about Fernando Mendoza,
- 25:53Speaker 8: played with him at cal for a bit and you know,
- 25:56Speaker 8: just asked him about how he rose to the level
- 25:59Speaker 8: that he did kind of on affected and I was
- 26:01Speaker 8: playing with Jalen Hawkins, who he had some time at
- 26:03Speaker 8: cal with.
- 26:04Speaker 4: So yeah, I'll be coming up at halftime.
- 26:06Speaker 8: And we also are from Drake yesterday, which, uh yeah,
- 26:08Speaker 8: I liked everything Drake had to say yesterday. I just
- 26:10Speaker 8: I was telling Paul I really enjoyed that he acknowledged
- 26:13Speaker 8: that al shay Yere and Totoe might try to take
- 26:16Speaker 8: your head off if you know, if you're not careful
- 26:18Speaker 8: with those two guys. But everybody continues to just he
- 26:21Speaker 8: praise on this Texans defense. So I hope they're letting
- 26:24Speaker 8: it go to their head.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They deserve the praise. I mean, it's not false praise.
- 26:27Speaker 8: They hate the snow though from what I've heard, Will
- 26:29Speaker 8: Anderson just didn't. He hates the snow. It never plays
- 26:32Speaker 8: good in it.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Well, let's hope it's slippery because the offense.
- 26:36Speaker 4: That point eight whatever get off that he's got will
- 26:38Speaker 4: be yeah, point nine.
- 26:40Speaker 6: He gets off quick.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And is he on Campbell's side or the other side the.
- 26:45Speaker 6: Other side normally, but they do they do flip sometimes.
- 26:48Speaker 1: So Campbell doesn't given us what anyoney.
- 26:49Speaker 6: Yes, it's like.
- 26:54Speaker 5: It's it's a seventy five to twenty five split for
- 26:59Speaker 5: the two guys in terms of which side they rush on.
- 27:02Speaker 5: So Anderson's usually over the right and Hunter is usually
- 27:06Speaker 5: over the left. But on occasion they will they will
- 27:09Speaker 5: flip them. They don't just keep them over on one side,
- 27:11Speaker 5: but they don't line them up inside.
- 27:13Speaker 1: If they ever overload, well, they run a lot.
- 27:16Speaker 5: Of overload fronts, but not with them on the same side.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I would try that.
- 27:20Speaker 6: Why not with them on the same side.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Well, it's actually they do it so that one of
- 27:25Speaker 5: them has to get singled, because if you're going to
- 27:27Speaker 5: slide the line towards one of those guys, if you
- 27:29Speaker 5: overload one side, you're gonna usually slide the line that way,
- 27:33Speaker 5: and that leaves them one on one on the other side.
- 27:35Speaker 6: So they do it.
- 27:36Speaker 5: They kind of use them in that way more than
- 27:38Speaker 5: they would put them on the same side.
- 27:40Speaker 3: All right, eight five five patch five hundred is the
- 27:43Speaker 3: Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email address?
- 27:46Speaker 3: Anything else before we open it up to our listeners? No,
- 27:50Speaker 3: get Nancy, Get Nancy.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Okay, you're you're always a little bit Yeah, you're always nervous.
- 27:56Speaker 8: Yeah, antsy, that is true. I want to get to
- 27:58Speaker 8: I would call it nervous nerve. You're nervous get nervous often.
- 28:03Speaker 6: He was very nervous on Sunday. I don't think I've
- 28:06Speaker 6: seen Henry touchdown will always be etched in my hid.
- 28:12Speaker 4: It was a it was a it was the push back.
- 28:14Speaker 6: It was the first touchback.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Was good.
- 28:16Speaker 6: The first time that I visibly saw Mike. I'm usually
- 28:19Speaker 6: pretty good at holding it all in show emotion.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, And I like where we sit in our press
- 28:24Speaker 1: box because when we do that, no one can.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Yeah, we're alone and and my and my and my
- 28:28Speaker 4: movement could have been interpreted.
- 28:29Speaker 8: It's like it's over, Like you know, I felt like
- 28:32Speaker 8: it wasn't like yes, it was just it was a
- 28:34Speaker 8: tap tapped Devan and I pushed back.
- 28:36Speaker 5: The best put the best press box to me. So
- 28:40Speaker 5: it was in Baltimore earlier this year. And uh, the
- 28:45Speaker 5: press box itself stinks, but the row is all all
- 28:48Speaker 5: Patriots people, all Patriots dot com folks. And when that
- 28:52Speaker 5: ball hit the ground, when Chase On punched it out
- 28:55Speaker 5: as a flowers ten.
- 28:56Speaker 6: People just go ball. It was just like in Unison,
- 29:03Speaker 6: like all of us were just like balls out, balls out.
- 29:07Speaker 6: It was just it was good.
- 29:08Speaker 5: That was the first time that I feel like it
- 29:10Speaker 5: was like a big game like that that I've been
- 29:14Speaker 5: working for the team where something like could happen for
- 29:16Speaker 5: the Patriots like that.
- 29:18Speaker 8: That game too felt like you just were so hanging
- 29:21Speaker 8: on edge to see what's the play that's going to
- 29:23Speaker 8: break it, and you knew there was going to be
- 29:25Speaker 8: a play coming.
- 29:25Speaker 1: And then I was so excited after that game.
- 29:27Speaker 3: I left the plug to my laptop there to get
- 29:30Speaker 3: a new one and first time like like, but they
- 29:34Speaker 3: just throw that.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I forgot something at my seat. You didn't ask for it.
- 29:39Speaker 3: I was just another one be just sitting up there,
- 29:43Speaker 3: probably still there. I'll get it next year if we
- 29:44Speaker 3: go next year. All right, let's get to the phones.
- 29:48Speaker 3: We'll start with Nate and Connecticut. We can hear you, Nate, Yes, yes,
- 29:55Speaker 3: but yuh So.
- 29:58Speaker 13: We have a big game this week against the Texans
- 30:01Speaker 13: on Sunday, and you know, with the with the outcome
- 30:06Speaker 13: of the Chargers game being as low scoring as it was,
- 30:08Speaker 13: I didn't think that would happen, but you know, the
- 30:13Speaker 13: defense showed out and I really hope that's the case again.
- 30:16Speaker 13: This weekend. We just signed Durell Taylor, who was waived
- 30:21Speaker 13: by Houston. I just wanted to know what your thoughts
- 30:25Speaker 13: were on that signing. I think I think it's good.
- 30:27Speaker 13: You know, we're getting some intel on the Texans from
- 30:29Speaker 13: this guy, I bet. And second off, who do you
- 30:33Speaker 13: guys think is going to be the X factor for
- 30:36Speaker 13: both the offense and the defense. We just need to
- 30:39Speaker 13: get something going on the offense. We weren't able to
- 30:42Speaker 13: get anything going last week. I thought that that pass
- 30:45Speaker 13: that Drake had Ton Henry, I thought that was probably
- 30:48Speaker 13: like one of the only few highlights buying a couple
- 30:50Speaker 13: of Madree runs. But yeah, I just want you guys
- 30:53Speaker 13: thoughts on.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That go pass. Okay, thanks X factor on offense and defense.
- 31:00Speaker 8: Been kind of quiet with him lately, and I could
- 31:02Speaker 8: see him breaking And I still got that James Cook
- 31:05Speaker 8: long run that he busted on these guys in my head.
- 31:08Speaker 4: But you know, I think he's kind of due for
- 31:10Speaker 4: a big play.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Okay, what about Hooper? Hooper?
- 31:14Speaker 6: Sure, I'm gonna go with Booty.
- 31:16Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I think Booty is probably over
- 31:19Speaker 5: the top. Yeah, like they I'm assuming that teams are
- 31:23Speaker 5: going to continue to give a lot of attention to Diggs.
- 31:26Speaker 6: You know that that's what the Chargers did.
- 31:29Speaker 5: The Texans did a little bit with DK in their
- 31:31Speaker 5: game on Monday night against Pittsburgh. So I would expect
- 31:35Speaker 5: Diggs to continue to get number one attention, and they
- 31:40Speaker 5: got to make them pay by throwing to the single
- 31:42Speaker 5: coverage elsewhere.
- 31:43Speaker 3: You know, a lot of receivers of Diggs ilk go
- 31:48Speaker 3: into a game and the other team's like, we got
- 31:50Speaker 3: to take the person away, and yet you see them
- 31:52Speaker 3: going wide open over the middle somehow. Is that Ken
- 31:57Speaker 3: McDaniels counter and do something scheme wise to get things
- 32:01Speaker 3: open even if the other team is focusing on him.
- 32:04Speaker 6: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 32:05Speaker 5: I think the harder part, though, you know, with guys
- 32:08Speaker 5: like Diggs is that he lines he runs someone of
- 32:10Speaker 5: many of his routes out inside, and when you're inside.
- 32:13Speaker 5: It's a lot easier to bracket receivers when they're on
- 32:16Speaker 5: the inside because you can have you know, help from
- 32:19Speaker 5: the linebackers or the safeties in the middle of the field,
- 32:21Speaker 5: Whereas like, if it's a true boundary guy, I think
- 32:25Speaker 5: that you know, you can cloud the coverage and you
- 32:27Speaker 5: can put the safety over the top of him, but
- 32:29Speaker 5: now you're really taking two guys completely out of the
- 32:32Speaker 5: rest of the play versus you.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Know, however, I will counter if you're a boundary guy,
- 32:39Speaker 3: the sideline becomes the extra defender. If you're starting from
- 32:42Speaker 3: the slot and you're and you're giving the receiver of
- 32:45Speaker 3: the option, now.
- 32:46Speaker 6: You have more right.
- 32:48Speaker 5: But that's why, Like, so they can have a guy
- 32:50Speaker 5: sitting inside of him and a guy sitting.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Outside of him.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Okay, so they're bracketing him on the inside because a
- 32:56Speaker 5: lot of the routes that he likes to run inside
- 32:58Speaker 5: are options right where he can break in or out
- 33:01Speaker 5: based off the coverage. So they kind of just have
- 33:02Speaker 5: two guys that just are sitting on either side of him,
- 33:05Speaker 5: and so he has no place to go. Now normally,
- 33:08Speaker 5: if you see it, now, if it's you know, not
- 33:10Speaker 5: to get if you see that, you can go right
- 33:13Speaker 5: up the middle, like split them and go vertical right
- 33:16Speaker 5: down the field is usually the answer to those. Yeah yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 5: and you know that's that's sort of the rub there.
- 33:23Speaker 5: So I think the best way to to make them
- 33:26Speaker 5: pay for it is is to go to Booty, to
- 33:28Speaker 5: go to Henry, to go to Kyle Williams, Pop Douglas,
- 33:31Speaker 5: whoever that second receiver is, whoever that complimentary receiver is.
- 33:36Speaker 5: You know that player is going to be one on
- 33:38Speaker 5: one for most of the game, and if you can
- 33:40Speaker 5: hit a couple down the field to that guy, then
- 33:43Speaker 5: now all of a sudden, you know, the Texans or
- 33:45Speaker 5: whoever need to start thinking about doing something different.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Right do you approach that game?
- 33:48Speaker 9: Oh?
- 33:49Speaker 8: Sorry, just with this kind of receiver, we think offensively
- 33:53Speaker 8: approaching the game. We know they're going to dedicate resources,
- 33:56Speaker 8: so let's kind of take them out.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Of it, you know what I mean, Like, like, let's
- 33:59Speaker 4: not makes the font digs the main point of this offense.
- 34:02Speaker 8: Let's let them waste two guys on the opposite side
- 34:05Speaker 8: of the field where we're not going to be throwing it.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Is that something into it?
- 34:09Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 34:10Speaker 5: Absolutely, Like I think there's a lot of times where
- 34:12Speaker 5: you know, teams will just say because they play side
- 34:15Speaker 5: with their corners, so like they might put their number
- 34:18Speaker 5: one receiver over Stingley's side and then just basically all
- 34:21Speaker 5: game that's just a windsprint, right, Like it just it
- 34:23Speaker 5: turns into a situation where it's like, we know Stingley
- 34:26Speaker 5: is going to be on our guy, and we're going
- 34:28Speaker 5: to just feel comfortable throwing at their other corners with
- 34:32Speaker 5: our other dudes, and we're going to be fine with that.
- 34:34Speaker 5: Now to the Patriots feel that way. Do they have
- 34:37Speaker 5: the talent the depth at receiver to be able to
- 34:40Speaker 5: pull something like that off. I I don't know, but
- 34:43Speaker 5: you know that is an option. And then if Diggs,
- 34:45Speaker 5: you know, wins a couple of routes, he still gets
- 34:48Speaker 5: the ball a few times, but you know you've seen
- 34:50Speaker 5: that before. And I think them playing sides of the
- 34:53Speaker 5: field versus traveling with receivers does help because you know
- 34:56Speaker 5: where Stingle is going to be, you know where Lassiter
- 34:59Speaker 5: is going to be, and so you can kind of
- 35:01Speaker 5: figure out which matchups you want to hunt.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Cassie and Georgia says the three offenses with the most
- 35:06Speaker 3: success against the Texans defense this year with the Seahawks
- 35:09Speaker 3: twenty seven points, Jaguars and a loss twenty nine, and
- 35:12Speaker 3: Colts in a loss thirty Do any of you know
- 35:15Speaker 3: what they did successfully and if the Patriots have the
- 35:18Speaker 3: personnel to repeat it or do they need to do
- 35:20Speaker 3: something different?
- 35:21Speaker 1: What did those three teams do? They all one of
- 35:24Speaker 1: them won, Seahawks won the other two loss.
- 35:26Speaker 7: But the Colts was against backups, so it was it
- 35:29Speaker 7: was for the most part in the second half that's
- 35:31Speaker 7: when they did all that.
- 35:32Speaker 6: I mean, I watched all the tape against their starter.
- 35:34Speaker 7: As soon as Jacksonville got a lead in their game,
- 35:36Speaker 7: Houston took Stroud out and a lot of their frontline
- 35:39Speaker 7: players did not play. Sure, we were watching it, and
- 35:42Speaker 7: Alec Pearce was just dominant. Alec Pierce had almost two
- 35:45Speaker 7: hundred yards in the.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Well they took straight up. But what about the defense?
- 35:48Speaker 7: They had backups in Okay, in the second half and
- 35:50Speaker 7: they went on. But I'm just saying we watched the game.
- 35:53Speaker 7: Mike and I were actually specifically watching that for that
- 35:56Speaker 7: reason because we were trying to see how they were
- 35:58Speaker 7: having so much success.
- 35:59Speaker 6: Right, they hit them with the bomb early. That was
- 36:01Speaker 6: against the starters. Okay, Evan's right about that, but there
- 36:05Speaker 6: was a lot of damage done late in that game
- 36:07Speaker 6: when the starters were out.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't have a lot of depth.
- 36:10Speaker 5: I'm less concerned about the what they didn't care. I'm
- 36:14Speaker 5: less concerned.
- 36:14Speaker 6: About when the scoring happened.
- 36:16Speaker 5: And like, are there any plays on the film that
- 36:18Speaker 5: happened against the starting defense that they can try to replicate?
- 36:22Speaker 5: And you know, I think in both instances, Lawrence and
- 36:24Speaker 5: Riley Leonard both use their legs a lot, and their
- 36:26Speaker 5: legs were a big time factor in both those games.
- 36:29Speaker 5: You know, Lawrence said a couple of scrambles, one of
- 36:32Speaker 5: them twenty one yards scramble Riley Leonard. It was a
- 36:34Speaker 5: lot of the Colts RPO stuff that they run with
- 36:37Speaker 5: Stich in that that got him on the move and
- 36:40Speaker 5: got his legs involved in the game. So I think
- 36:42Speaker 5: that those are all things that when you look under
- 36:45Speaker 5: underneath the hood with this Texans defense, you know, they
- 36:48Speaker 5: do sometimes let the quarterback out of the pocket and
- 36:51Speaker 5: if Drake mayn make something happen on the move, whether
- 36:54Speaker 5: it's running himself or extending the play or whatever the
- 36:57Speaker 5: case may be. You know, I think that's a way
- 37:01Speaker 5: that they can go about it. The Seahawks game was
- 37:03Speaker 5: back in like Week one or something like that.
- 37:05Speaker 14: It was.
- 37:07Speaker 7: I don't remember seeing that, but you know, the Seahawks,
- 37:09Speaker 7: you know, I'm sure JSN had a big game. He
- 37:11Speaker 7: had a big game against everybody. Yeah, but the and
- 37:16Speaker 7: there was a bomb very early. I think it was
- 37:18Speaker 7: the first possession that Alec Pearce was virtually uncovered. It
- 37:21Speaker 7: was like a sixty yard touchdown and that was like
- 37:25Speaker 7: the first possession of the game. So Stingley and Lassiter
- 37:27Speaker 7: those guys were all in the game and they got
- 37:29Speaker 7: over the top. And it's one of the reasons why
- 37:31Speaker 7: I have sort of been hammering home. I think that
- 37:35Speaker 7: because I thought Pittsburgh got open over the top too.
- 37:38Speaker 7: They just couldn't hit him. Yeah, they the Colts hit
- 37:41Speaker 7: hit a few of them, and Till Pierce got thrown
- 37:43Speaker 7: out of the game for pumping a ref.
- 37:45Speaker 2: To that point, and to the point Evan just made
- 37:47Speaker 2: about quarterbacks scrambling, like, I feel like that's my offensive
- 37:50Speaker 2: X factor. Is Drake on his feet. I don't know,
- 37:53Speaker 2: especially if Diggs is pulling double coverages from linebackers, Like,
- 37:57Speaker 2: I don't know, I just feel like watching the Steelers
- 37:59Speaker 2: game obviously different, but there are so many scenarios where
- 38:03Speaker 2: Rogers I'm watching him scramble in the pocket and I'm like,
- 38:06Speaker 2: Drake gets out of that, oh yeah, or brow like
- 38:09Speaker 2: Drake scrambles out of that and makes that throw down
- 38:11Speaker 2: field or gets the yards himself.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I totally agree.
- 38:14Speaker 2: How much can I don't know if it's like design
- 38:16Speaker 2: runs or just like RPOs just Drake on his feet.
- 38:19Speaker 7: Well, it's just even the scrambles because Rogers was avoiding
- 38:22Speaker 7: the pressure very well and he would break containment, get
- 38:25Speaker 7: outside and now instead of making up, instead of making
- 38:27Speaker 7: a ten yard run for a first down, Rogers knows
- 38:30Speaker 7: I can't do that, and he's standing in there trying
- 38:32Speaker 7: to make a play, and they didn't make enough plays.
- 38:35Speaker 7: It was one of his worst I think it was
- 38:37Speaker 7: his worst statistical playoff game out of his twenty two,
- 38:39Speaker 7: which says a lot because as you know, he doesn't
- 38:42Speaker 7: win that much in the playoffs, so that was the worst.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Yeah, one of the things that Rodgers did that I
- 38:47Speaker 5: think was good and that Drake May needs to be
- 38:50Speaker 5: mindful of. I think Josh Allen struggled with this against Houston.
- 38:53Speaker 5: You want to go up through the middle of the
- 38:55Speaker 5: pocket against them.
- 38:56Speaker 2: As supposed to.
- 38:57Speaker 5: If you go outside or you go back, then you
- 39:00Speaker 5: got Will Anderson and Daniel Hunter chasing you, Whereas if
- 39:03Speaker 5: you go through the middle of the pocket, it's the
- 39:04Speaker 5: big boys in the middle that are chasing you.
- 39:06Speaker 6: And that's a big difference.
- 39:08Speaker 5: You know, Josh Allen kept on going backwards, and you know,
- 39:11Speaker 5: you can't run away from Anderson and Hunter.
- 39:12Speaker 6: They're too fast, so you have.
- 39:14Speaker 5: To, you know, let those guys drive by you and
- 39:16Speaker 5: then step up in the pocket and try to get
- 39:19Speaker 5: through the middle of the pocket.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Sean's and Vancouver. What's up, Sean, Yeah, hold on, let
- 39:24Speaker 1: me take go.
- 39:25Speaker 15: Okay, So I've just read on USA today that John
- 39:29Speaker 15: Harbo was signed by the Giants. I'm wondering if or
- 39:32Speaker 15: how much of a factor of not running Henry in
- 39:36Speaker 15: the fourth quarter and the loss of the Patriots affected
- 39:39Speaker 15: him getting fired from Baltimore, and a couple more things.
- 39:43Speaker 15: I wanted to make note of the big difference in
- 39:48Speaker 15: the approach that Brabel had to Belichick, Like, we see
- 39:53Speaker 15: that the players are getting the intros now, and that's
- 39:56Speaker 15: like some people might take it the wrong way, like, hey,
- 39:58Speaker 15: this is a great traditional word doing things as a team.
- 40:01Speaker 15: But I heard bray Will say something the other day
- 40:04Speaker 15: and this is probably his perspective coming from a player,
- 40:07Speaker 15: that we're in the entertainment business. So as a player,
- 40:09Speaker 15: you know, you're competing on television with other shows. You
- 40:12Speaker 15: probably have publicist like this is entertainment where the ratings
- 40:16Speaker 15: for the NFL is great and it's it's leading in television.
- 40:19Speaker 15: So they're going to continue trying to do that and
- 40:21Speaker 15: win fans over. And this is you know, one way
- 40:24Speaker 15: that he is different with Belichick, you know, but probably
- 40:27Speaker 15: say when it asks something like that, he'd probably say, no,
- 40:30Speaker 15: we're in the business of yeah, you.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Know, yeah, one one accepts it and the other fights.
- 40:35Speaker 15: It, right right, So this this is this is a
- 40:38Speaker 15: difference with with Rabel and I have one prediction for
- 40:42Speaker 15: playing the game. I think the Patriots will will go
- 40:46Speaker 15: to a six man line, have play action pass and
- 40:49Speaker 15: then go deep to h to Williams for for one place.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Okay, we can get a big school there, you go,
- 40:54Speaker 1: all right, I would agree with that prediction.
- 40:57Speaker 6: Yeah, but go have playoffs, yeah, go deep.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 6: I mean it's a really small sample size.
- 41:05Speaker 5: I'm sure the Texans, but you know, the times that
- 41:08Speaker 5: they have tried to defend the pass out of those
- 41:10Speaker 5: six zero line packages, they haven't been very good at it.
- 41:13Speaker 5: You know, it's not again, it's it's olid teams run
- 41:16Speaker 5: that all the time. So it's not a very big
- 41:18Speaker 5: sample size. But when you get into these matchups in
- 41:21Speaker 5: these playoff games, it's often those like little little things
- 41:24Speaker 5: that you know, they face thirty five drop backs out
- 41:27Speaker 5: a six to zero line and they think against it,
- 41:29Speaker 5: So we're just gonna hammer that And sometimes it can
- 41:32Speaker 5: be magnified in the playoffs.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Dylan Wright s in, I'm not sure my rant will
- 41:37Speaker 3: be quite as cool as calling into a football show
- 41:39Speaker 3: to complain about hand gestures crying for more media influence.
- 41:42Speaker 1: But here it goes.
- 41:43Speaker 3: The Texans have the top defense and the Patriots have
- 41:45Speaker 3: a top offense. We know that, but it seems to
- 41:48Speaker 3: me that people don't think the Texans have to play
- 41:51Speaker 3: offense as well. Coupling that with the Patriots defense being
- 41:54Speaker 3: slightly underrated, I don't see how this isn't being factored in.
- 41:58Speaker 3: The receivers they're bringing to the game, running back room,
- 42:00Speaker 3: the offensive line, and the QB are all very underwhelming,
- 42:04Speaker 3: and our defense looks pretty healthy and very good lately.
- 42:07Speaker 3: I'm not sure the Texans offense can score more than
- 42:10Speaker 3: ten points on this defense, and they're just relying on
- 42:12Speaker 3: their defense to bully a forty two year old immobile
- 42:15Speaker 3: quarterback every game, outscoring opposing offenses. Obviously, I don't expect
- 42:19Speaker 3: the same fumble game from Stroud, but would anyone be
- 42:22Speaker 3: shocked if our defense scores a touchdown, maybe a pick three.
- 42:26Speaker 3: I think we look back on this game and say, hey,
- 42:29Speaker 3: I didn't think our defense could step up and play
- 42:31Speaker 3: any better, and they kind of did.
- 42:34Speaker 7: I would be shocked if those things happened. I think
- 42:36Speaker 7: the Texans are better offensively than that, Okay, I.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Mean to completely shut them down, like digits to the Chargers,
- 42:44Speaker 5: I think it is hard to ask. I think this
- 42:46Speaker 5: is a much more well coordinated unit than what they saw.
- 42:50Speaker 5: The Chargers literally fired their offensive coordinator two days later
- 42:53Speaker 5: like that. I think that that's a big you know,
- 42:55Speaker 5: they didn't know who to block, they didn't know what
- 42:57Speaker 5: was they didn't know what was going on.
- 42:59Speaker 6: Literally, I think this is going to be a bigger
- 43:02Speaker 6: test than that.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Also, the Texans can just get points on defense their
- 43:05Speaker 2: scoring threat. There is just so much more of a
- 43:07Speaker 2: liability than it was against the Chargers. So that's where
- 43:09Speaker 2: you get points.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Yeah, not just points, but field position too.
- 43:12Speaker 11: You know.
- 43:12Speaker 8: I think that the defense is more connected to the
- 43:14Speaker 8: Houston's offense than you know, you might suspect.
- 43:17Speaker 4: Generally speaking, I.
- 43:18Speaker 7: Don't think it's a great offense, but I don't think
- 43:20Speaker 7: it's terrible like that that's describing a terrible offense.
- 43:23Speaker 6: And I don't think it's that. It's not that now
- 43:25Speaker 6: without Nico Collins, it's it's so this is interesting.
- 43:30Speaker 7: This is interesting, and this is another one that we
- 43:33Speaker 7: watch the Patriots every week, so we don't know these
- 43:35Speaker 7: kinds of little things that become you know, relevant in
- 43:38Speaker 7: that town. You see this little I don't know if
- 43:41Speaker 7: they're trying to talk themselves into it or if it's
- 43:44Speaker 7: actually a thing they feel like Stroud plays better when
- 43:47Speaker 7: Collins is out of the lineup because when he's spread,
- 43:52Speaker 7: he obviously is focused on him. It's the you know,
- 43:54Speaker 7: the number one wide receiver syndrome, you know, And obviously
- 43:58Speaker 7: Nico Collins is an excellent player. And I think the
- 44:01Speaker 7: line of thought is the offense can be better when
- 44:06Speaker 7: when Collins is out now, but I have to see
- 44:10Speaker 7: that before I say, oh, they're better off without their
- 44:13Speaker 7: best offensive play.
- 44:14Speaker 2: So is that logic kind of flawed when you're not
- 44:16Speaker 2: going against the Patriots secondary, Like, you have three great
- 44:20Speaker 2: corners that have been playing really well.
- 44:22Speaker 7: So I don't know who they're talking like, I don't
- 44:24Speaker 7: know the games that they've played better against.
- 44:26Speaker 6: He's only missed, like I think he missed two games.
- 44:29Speaker 7: Yeah, but you know, I don't know how big the
- 44:32Speaker 7: sample size is either to your point about.
- 44:35Speaker 5: But I tumble that it's like I think it's different
- 44:37Speaker 5: when you're in the playoffs because like now the playoffs
- 44:40Speaker 5: it becomes you know, and you're.
- 44:42Speaker 7: Asking rookies to make plays that they made in the
- 44:44Speaker 7: regular season that maybe they're not ready.
- 44:46Speaker 6: Right or you know.
- 44:47Speaker 5: It becomes our best against your best. And now instead
- 44:51Speaker 5: of having to cover Nico Collins, Gonza is get to
- 44:54Speaker 5: cover Jayden Higgins or Xavier or Hutchinson or something like that.
- 44:57Speaker 5: And based off of how he played on Sunday before
- 44:59Speaker 5: he got hurt, gonso looks like he's pretty.
- 45:01Speaker 6: Fun in the playoffs.
- 45:03Speaker 5: So like when you start, I think in the playoffs,
- 45:05Speaker 5: it's a different animal than when you start to compare
- 45:08Speaker 5: it in the.
- 45:08Speaker 7: Re Another one that people are trying to I think
- 45:10Speaker 7: Houston people are trying to get excited about is uh,
- 45:13Speaker 7: you know, Mike rabel is three and oh in the
- 45:16Speaker 7: playoffs when the game starts at eight o'clock, oh and
- 45:19Speaker 7: three when it starts any other time.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Shoot, they got us.
- 45:23Speaker 6: They're just talking themselves. It's all kinds of positive stats.
- 45:27Speaker 6: I just don't understand that. I like to call it.
- 45:31Speaker 5: The way that this is gone with the all like
- 45:33Speaker 5: now that the Patriots are like good and like like
- 45:36Speaker 5: this era of like sports commentary, Like now anytime you
- 45:42Speaker 5: say anything that's like this could be a way the
- 45:45Speaker 5: Patriots could attack the Texans, Like all the Texans fans
- 45:48Speaker 5: have to get angry and like.
- 45:50Speaker 6: What are you talking about?
- 45:52Speaker 1: You're lying fans don't do that.
- 45:56Speaker 5: It's I know, I'm saying all fans do it, but
- 46:00Speaker 5: like they're all these like instead of just like breaking
- 46:02Speaker 5: down the game and the strengths and weaknesses of both
- 46:05Speaker 5: teams and discussing it. Now you have to get all
- 46:07Speaker 5: sensitive when somebody says that, Like.
- 46:09Speaker 2: You know, I think that's a fair picture thing, not
- 46:12Speaker 2: just sports fandom.
- 46:13Speaker 5: I think it's just more I've noticed it more. You know,
- 46:16Speaker 5: this wasn't necessarily going on in like twenty fifteen.
- 46:19Speaker 1: All right.
- 46:21Speaker 8: Now I'm thinking of like you know, Paul doing the
- 46:23Speaker 8: mashups in the paper, where like someone's got to get
- 46:25Speaker 8: the check mark.
- 46:26Speaker 4: And you gave their offensive line check.
- 46:30Speaker 6: To have no idea. There was a time when the
- 46:33Speaker 6: Patriots were really in their heydays.
- 46:34Speaker 7: You usould do when the Patriots run past the other
- 46:37Speaker 7: team runs past special teams in tangibles, and I would
- 46:40Speaker 7: go out of my way to give the other team.
- 46:42Speaker 6: The check mark On like intangibles.
- 46:45Speaker 7: So it wasn't a clean sweep every week because I
- 46:47Speaker 7: was so sick of getting browbeaten.
- 46:49Speaker 6: You they're going to run the ball like whatever. It
- 46:52Speaker 6: was like every time I would get absolutely crucified.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Damon's and Maryland. Hey, Damon.
- 47:00Speaker 16: Everyone, how was it going?
- 47:01Speaker 1: Good? Good?
- 47:03Speaker 16: So calling in today?
- 47:05Speaker 1: It is my birthday, Happy birthday, last time, thank you.
- 47:09Speaker 16: Last time the Patriots played on my birthday. It was
- 47:11Speaker 16: the slaughter against the Bills. But it does inspire a
- 47:15Speaker 16: trivia question, And anyone named the four of the times
- 47:19Speaker 16: the Patriots played on January fourteenth and what the scores
- 47:23Speaker 16: of those games were?
- 47:24Speaker 1: Oh, I don't oh January fourteenth.
- 47:27Speaker 6: I could not tell you what the date of they've seriously,
- 47:30Speaker 6: any game that they've ever played.
- 47:32Speaker 4: I think I can clute in the Super Bowls a
- 47:33Speaker 4: little preview of the co pilot question of the week.
- 47:36Speaker 8: I can tell you the twenty sixteen game against the
- 47:38Speaker 8: Texans was on the fourteenth, and the twenty eleven game
- 47:42Speaker 8: against the Broncos.
- 47:44Speaker 4: That's all I got.
- 47:45Speaker 6: Okay, twenty eleven Broncos forty five to ten.
- 47:49Speaker 1: You know, right, Damon, because it's your birthday is that.
- 47:51Speaker 16: Right, yes, of course, So the the loss against Denver
- 47:55Speaker 16: two thousand and six, two five playoffs on the fourteenth,
- 47:58Speaker 16: oh out, and the big win in San Diego against
- 48:02Speaker 16: the Chargers.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Okay, all right, yeah sounds good. All right, Well, happy birthday, Damon,
- 48:09Speaker 3: thanks for calling in appreciate it. Robert writes in with
- 48:14Speaker 3: the Texas pass rush making quick throws of necessity, do
- 48:17Speaker 3: you expect to see Trevion getting more work in the
- 48:20Speaker 3: passing game?
- 48:22Speaker 5: They're this weird discrepancy with them that on short passes
- 48:28Speaker 5: thrown past the line of scrimmage, so like from like
- 48:31Speaker 5: one to ten yards.
- 48:33Speaker 4: You're in dangerous territory with this one right now.
- 48:36Speaker 5: They're the best in the league at defending the short
- 48:38Speaker 5: passes past the line of scrimmage, but they're one of
- 48:42Speaker 5: the worst teams in the league at defending screen passes,
- 48:45Speaker 5: like specifically screens is And so it's really interesting to
- 48:51Speaker 5: me because, like, if they're so good at taking away
- 48:54Speaker 5: the underneath stuff and rallying to the ball when you
- 48:56Speaker 5: throw a slant, how are they not the same good
- 48:59Speaker 5: against when you throw a screen.
- 49:02Speaker 6: It doesn't make any sense. Maybe they don't know what
- 49:04Speaker 6: a screen or the difference is screen slant.
- 49:07Speaker 5: They don't know what this seeing, but I would expect
- 49:10Speaker 5: the Patriots to at least try a few screens in
- 49:13Speaker 5: this game to the running backs, to try to suck
- 49:16Speaker 5: in that pass rush and get those guys up the field,
- 49:18Speaker 5: and then you try to flip it out to Stevenson
- 49:20Speaker 5: or Henderson, you know, behind those big beasts, and maybe
- 49:23Speaker 5: you can get them loose on a screen.
- 49:25Speaker 3: To me, what that kind of indicates is that Houston
- 49:28Speaker 3: can be over aggressive sometimes and a screen can can
- 49:32Speaker 3: hit them up.
- 49:32Speaker 5: I agree, and so on our preview would be on
- 49:35Speaker 5: YouTube shortly. I'm sure you know. I was saying, like,
- 49:37Speaker 5: maybe you put both of them in the backfield and
- 49:39Speaker 5: you kind of fake it one way, throw it the other,
- 49:42Speaker 5: you know, try to confuse them and use that against them.
- 49:45Speaker 7: The misdirection, I would be more interested because if this
- 49:48Speaker 7: is a team you guys tell me they don't blitz
- 49:49Speaker 7: a lot, right, So like teams that don't blitz a
- 49:52Speaker 7: lot wouldn't necessarily to me be overly susceptible to screens.
- 49:56Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
- 49:56Speaker 7: But you get misdirection that's different, catch a scene that's different.
- 50:00Speaker 7: I like him this direction idea.
- 50:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's the pass rush.
- 50:03Speaker 5: I think those four guys, because they only rush four,
- 50:05Speaker 5: they're always coming off the ball, and so if you
- 50:08Speaker 5: can get those guys in the backfield and then throw
- 50:11Speaker 5: it over him on a little screen pass, it can
- 50:13Speaker 5: be effected.
- 50:14Speaker 7: And I like the way Stevenson has been making big
- 50:17Speaker 7: plays in the passing game over the last month or so.
- 50:20Speaker 7: I mean, he seems like he has a twenty plus
- 50:21Speaker 7: yard catch every game.
- 50:23Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a big talking about X factors.
- 50:25Speaker 8: To me, just continuing to play the way he's been playing,
- 50:27Speaker 8: it's this is him at his best right now, doing
- 50:30Speaker 8: it all, and I think he's just if he's able
- 50:33Speaker 8: to get going, yeah, you know, breaking tackles. I mean,
- 50:35Speaker 8: I think that's always to me when you know he's
- 50:37Speaker 8: at his best, like that game in Cincinnati in Week
- 50:40Speaker 8: one last year where we said it wasn't sustainable, but
- 50:42Speaker 8: at that point he was breaking tackles in the backfield
- 50:45Speaker 8: and making something out of nothing, and he's pretty close.
- 50:47Speaker 6: To most sustainable at this time.
- 50:49Speaker 4: He just need one win out right, Yeah right.
- 50:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I would running on this seems really tough, but
- 50:54Speaker 5: I think the backs, you know, almost as an recreation
- 50:57Speaker 5: of the running game. If you can throw some of
- 50:59Speaker 5: these screen, if you can throw some of the wide
- 51:02Speaker 5: receiver screens or misdirection plays or whatever as well, then
- 51:05Speaker 5: I don't know if you're gonna be able to just
- 51:07Speaker 5: line it up and run the ball. I think the
- 51:08Speaker 5: Texans front is too good, but you might be able
- 51:11Speaker 5: to get them on stuff like that.
- 51:12Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna take a break. When we come back,
- 51:16Speaker 1: more calls and emails later on, we're gonna have our
- 51:18Speaker 1: divisional round picks. Can't wait for that. We'll be right back.

- 53:06Speaker 8: All right, we're excited now to welcome Craig. What's in
- 53:08Speaker 8: fresh off the first practice the week, you guys are
- 53:10Speaker 8: starting to get ready for the AFC divisional matchup. You
- 53:13Speaker 8: how you feeling, Craigy, I feel good, man. It's a
- 53:15Speaker 8: blessing him be here, blessing them be in a position
- 53:17Speaker 8: we're in. So, you know, I just want to take
- 53:18Speaker 8: advantage of this opportunity. I want to start with this
- 53:20Speaker 8: game last week. And I know I'm not alone, but
- 53:22Speaker 8: I think you played pretty well this weekend. Let the
- 53:24Speaker 8: team in tackles felt like you were all over the place.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Just what was it like for you playing in your
- 53:27Speaker 4: first playoff game and being able to perform at that level? Man?
- 53:30Speaker 20: It was crazy, Like the atmosphere of the crowd was just, like,
- 53:33Speaker 20: you know, intense. I think all of our teammates was
- 53:36Speaker 20: just intense. So I'm just, you know, happy that the
- 53:39Speaker 20: game went the way it did. Before the game, I
- 53:41Speaker 20: was just praying a lot about, you know, just having
- 53:43Speaker 20: confidence out there and just doing what I know I
- 53:45Speaker 20: can do, and you know, God equip me with what
- 53:47Speaker 20: I needed, and you know, I was able to be
- 53:49Speaker 20: successful on the field, and our team's able to get
- 53:51Speaker 20: a win, so that's all that matters to me.
- 53:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm glad we're doing this because I don't think
- 53:56Speaker 5: a lot of people know that you lead the defense
- 53:58Speaker 5: and snaps. You've played a high percentage of snaps on
- 54:01Speaker 5: defense and anybody else, and.
- 54:02Speaker 6: That's as a rookie. Like, how did have you been
- 54:04Speaker 6: able to prepare.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Yourself physically mentally to play as much as you've played
- 54:08Speaker 5: this year?
- 54:09Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 54:09Speaker 20: Honestly, just leaning on my teammates and coaches, that's really
- 54:12Speaker 20: what happened, just you know, going to them about certain things.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Earlier in the season.
- 54:17Speaker 20: You know, it was kind of rocky a little bit
- 54:18Speaker 20: with just you know, making plays and having plays that
- 54:21Speaker 20: I wish I could get back. But everything's learning experience, honestly,
- 54:25Speaker 20: just taking it play by play, day by day, and
- 54:28Speaker 20: I think just you know, taking care of my body
- 54:29Speaker 20: as well has helped me just be able to be
- 54:31Speaker 20: on a field every snap. So it's a blessing man.
- 54:35Speaker 8: Taking you back to training camp, though, I mean, just
- 54:37Speaker 8: what was it like when you came in. I mean,
- 54:38Speaker 8: you know, we're here with a couple veterans as top
- 54:40Speaker 8: the depth chart.
- 54:41Speaker 4: We didn't know quite what to expect from you when
- 54:43Speaker 4: you came in, and you know, it just seemed like
- 54:44Speaker 4: you took to it right away and you earned a
- 54:46Speaker 4: starting role right out of the gate.
- 54:48Speaker 8: Just what was that process in training camp for you?
- 54:50Speaker 8: What were your expectations coming in and how did you
- 54:52Speaker 8: get to where you are?
- 54:53Speaker 20: Yeah, expectations coming in. I just wanted to learn, Like,
- 54:55Speaker 20: you know, I didn't think that I was going to play.
- 54:57Speaker 20: I didn't know you know, where I really fit in,
- 55:00Speaker 20: But I just wanted to learn behind the guys that
- 55:02Speaker 20: I was here, So Doug Hawk Pepper's like, I just
- 55:05Speaker 20: wanted to watch how they played and it's all right,
- 55:08Speaker 20: what can I take from the game and added to mine?
- 55:09Speaker 20: And just being a steward of the game, and just
- 55:12Speaker 20: meeting with coach Booker, you know on my my lone time.
- 55:15Speaker 20: I think that really helped. And then just I think
- 55:18Speaker 20: CAL really prepared me for this moment. Really just the
- 55:21Speaker 20: way that we practice communicated it, just certain things with
- 55:25Speaker 20: coverages and stuff that we did at CAL.
- 55:27Speaker 8: I think it really translated and it helped me. Here
- 55:29Speaker 8: we had Jalen Hawkins here. I know you played with
- 55:30Speaker 8: a little bit you guys with like one year, I
- 55:32Speaker 8: think you guys, Couch is crazy college works day. I
- 55:36Speaker 8: mean he's having a great year too, I mean four
- 55:39Speaker 8: receptions and what can you say about that relationship between
- 55:41Speaker 8: the other two cal bets there.
- 55:43Speaker 20: That's big bro man, that really is a big bro.
- 55:46Speaker 20: I come to him about everything when it comes to
- 55:48Speaker 20: the field. He's played a lot of ball. He's a
- 55:50Speaker 20: real veteran and I'm happy he's been able to make
- 55:52Speaker 20: the plays that he has this this season. So just
- 55:55Speaker 20: playing with him, bro, it just it has been a blessing.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Man, it's been.
- 55:58Speaker 20: It's been great just having him on my side and
- 56:01Speaker 20: both of us just going out there and playing turn
- 56:03Speaker 20: making plays like that's that's something you just dream about.
- 56:06Speaker 5: So well, since we're on the Cal subject, we'll ask you,
- 56:09Speaker 5: now you play with Fernando Mendoza Cal, are you paying
- 56:12Speaker 5: attention to Indiana?
- 56:13Speaker 4: And yeah, rooting for him? Oh for sure, for sure.
- 56:16Speaker 20: So when Nando came in, he was like our scout
- 56:18Speaker 20: team quarterback, but like he was darting us up every
- 56:21Speaker 20: day in practice, so we like hold on, like he
- 56:23Speaker 20: gonna have to play. So yeah, I mean, just the
- 56:27Speaker 20: way he is now, that's how he was at Cal.
- 56:29Speaker 1: He's the same guy.
- 56:30Speaker 20: Smart, dude always was hard working, stayed in the building
- 56:34Speaker 20: later than everybody. So there's no question while you know,
- 56:37Speaker 20: he's succeeding the way he is and I'm happy for him.
- 56:40Speaker 6: Maybe seeing him again soon.
- 56:42Speaker 8: So just real quick about the Texans. You know, this
- 56:45Speaker 8: is a team and you know I was just watching
- 56:46Speaker 8: me and they can push the ball down the field.
- 56:48Speaker 8: I mean, you being on a safety, what do you
- 56:50Speaker 8: see from these guys and what do you think is
- 56:51Speaker 8: going to be the key for your your defensive team?
- 56:53Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean they got some threats at receiver, threats
- 56:55Speaker 20: at running back, quarterback. Obviously with with Stroud back there,
- 56:58Speaker 20: he can make every throw. So for us, man, we
- 57:01Speaker 20: just got to play sound and we gotta get them
- 57:04Speaker 20: off track. Man, stop them early, get them off track,
- 57:06Speaker 20: get them off a rhythm, and then and take advantage
- 57:08Speaker 20: when there's you know, turnover opportunities.
- 57:10Speaker 6: You know, just ask you one more.
- 57:11Speaker 5: The big talking point out of the Chargers game was
- 57:14Speaker 5: about how you guys were disguising coverage and kind of
- 57:17Speaker 5: confusing the Chargers and justin Herbert, what goes into that
- 57:20Speaker 5: is that preparation, that practice, you know, talking to each other,
- 57:24Speaker 5: like how do you go about you know, showing them
- 57:26Speaker 5: one thing and then changing it up.
- 57:27Speaker 20: Yeah, it's prep, but also just a little savvingus out there, Like, Man,
- 57:31Speaker 20: you don't want to just never sit there and have
- 57:33Speaker 20: the quarterback have an easy read, Like you want to
- 57:35Speaker 20: switch it up, change your picture, let them know that
- 57:37Speaker 20: you know, we're not just gonna sit here and you
- 57:39Speaker 20: can just take advantage. Like now you're gonna switch it up.
- 57:41Speaker 20: You're gonna have to really read our defense to know
- 57:44Speaker 20: who we in. So that just comes with just you know, prepping,
- 57:47Speaker 20: being savvy.
- 57:47Speaker 4: I mean, how much fun are you having.
- 57:48Speaker 8: We're sitting back there and I'm looking at like the
- 57:50Speaker 8: heat map of where you play, and it's just it's
- 57:52Speaker 8: all over the defense.
- 57:53Speaker 4: And I'm like, if I want to play football, I
- 57:54Speaker 4: want to play safety.
- 57:55Speaker 8: Like I want to be rushing the quarterback. I want
- 57:57Speaker 8: to be back in the field. I mean, you just
- 57:58Speaker 8: must be having a blast this year.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Oh I am?
- 58:00Speaker 9: I am.
- 58:01Speaker 20: I'm so happy, grateful of the opportunity that was giving
- 58:05Speaker 20: to me, man, and I'm just trying to take advantage of.
- 58:07Speaker 9: It every day.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Yeah, well, good luck this weekend. I appreciate it.
- 58:10Speaker 1: Thank you luck.
- 58:12Speaker 6: And now great moments in history, I tell you that story.
- 58:18Speaker 6: That's a that's a good high school baseball story of Freddie.
- 58:21Speaker 6: Did I ever tell you that story?
- 58:22Speaker 1: Probably need to win?
- 58:23Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I'll go all Aaron Alan, Aaron on you here.
- 58:28Speaker 7: We needed to win like our last three games to
- 58:30Speaker 7: make the tournament, and we lost the first one, so
- 58:33Speaker 7: we were out.
- 58:35Speaker 11: Someone goes, some kid would never played. He's like, oh,
- 58:39Speaker 11: you know, so good pride to play for half pride.
- 58:45Speaker 11: I wanted the title, right.
- 58:49Speaker 13: Ah.
- 58:50Speaker 6: That person was classic effort, pouting classic the way we
- 58:57Speaker 6: did win the we did win the title the following year.
- 59:00Speaker 1: That's great. That is something.
- 59:02Speaker 9: Ryan from Virginia, that's another great moment.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Okay, we're back here in Patriots on Filtered eighty five
- 59:13Speaker 1: to five, Pass five hundred and do s has something
- 59:15Speaker 1: to say?
- 59:17Speaker 4: It's my favorite part of the show.
- 59:18Speaker 8: It's time for the co Pilot Question of the Week,
- 59:20Speaker 8: presented by Microsoft co Pilot, where every day is game
- 59:23Speaker 8: day and where every decision is powered by insight and innovation.
- 59:26Speaker 8: Microsoft technology helps to make decisions faster, insights sharper, and
- 59:29Speaker 8: strategies more adaptive.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Our guys, we're.
- 59:32Speaker 8: Talking divisional round today and when the Patriots play the
- 59:35Speaker 8: Texans on Sunday. This will be the third time that
- 59:38Speaker 8: the Patriots and Texans franchises have met in the playoffs.
- 59:42Speaker 8: There are three other teams that they have played three
- 59:45Speaker 8: times in the divisional I should say three other franchises
- 59:47Speaker 8: they played three times in the divisional round.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Who are those teams?
- 59:52Speaker 1: Can you mention that?
- 59:53Speaker 13: Say that?
- 59:53Speaker 4: Sure? Who are the three teams that they've played three
- 59:56Speaker 4: times in the AFC divisional round.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Of the playoffs.
- 59:59Speaker 6: I'm going to say den Is one eighty.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: Six five, correct, Baltimore.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: No, Baltimore was a good guess, especially the way he
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: went franchises.
- 1:00:14Speaker 8: Yeah, there's a little there's a little trickeration in here,
- 1:00:16Speaker 8: a little bit in the little trickeration.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: No, I don't know.
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: Charges.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: No, the Raiders got nineteen eighty five, played the division round.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Oh that was a wild card this week?
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: Yeah, technically.
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: Seventy six was the first round two, which I guess
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: technically would call the wildcard round. And the other team
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: that that I mentioned is the Titans, which was seventeen
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: and o three but also part of that nineteen seventies
- 1:00:49Speaker 8: first rounding the Raiders. I'm not this is co pilot Paul,
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: so direct your angst towards AI.
- 1:00:55Speaker 7: So I guess the Raiders would technically be that what
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: we have the divisional round. Yeah, it was final for
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: the conference.
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, technically, but it was the Houston Oilers in
- 1:01:05Speaker 8: seventy eight instead of the Titans. So you've played that
- 1:01:07Speaker 8: Oilers Titans team three times in that in that round.
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: That's twenty seventeen, twenty three, three, and seventy eight. They
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: lost in that first round when the coaching staff was
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: on the way out.
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: Yeah, Earl thom Or, Earl Thomas, Earl Campbell ran all
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: over the Patriots far.
- 1:01:22Speaker 6: So bomb to Kenny Burrow, all right, and this will.
- 1:01:26Speaker 8: Be the third time with the Texas of course, twenty twelve,
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: twenty sixteen, and now twenty twenty five, Mike.
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: Of course, the Patriots lost that seventy eight game on
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: New Year's Eve, oh thirty one to fourteen.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it's tough.
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: Good team and record setting team and coaching controversy. The
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: coach had been what fired and then brought back? And
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: Hardy was making fun of me this morning. Oh yeah,
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: I was driving in. Oh you heard him, I responded,
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: I texted him.
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: I had the answer.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Did you hear yesterday on your show? In the morning.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Were they talking about zolac.
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: Oh growing up? That turned into a throwout.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: He threw up. Yeah, he was doing a read and
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: he just threw up.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: So that doesn't sound like so no, he's so healthy.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Oh my god, you don't know what happened. We travel
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: and we also don't know the smells. Yeah, watching function.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Oh and the thing is like, you know, uh.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: When they play that Josie song, he's out there and
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: he whips around his white thing. If only people knew
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: what he uses that white rag for. Yeah, yeah, it's disgusting.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: It's disgusting.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Okay, all right A five to five past five hundred
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: is the hotline. Let's go to Christian in l A.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: What's up, Christian?
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: Christian?
- 1:02:53Speaker 14: Hey you guys, you guys, Hey, you got it is
- 1:02:56Speaker 14: the third I am super excited, but I will keep
- 1:03:00Speaker 14: this focused and short because I don't want my hatriots
- 1:03:04Speaker 14: out there like pathlet Kenneth in Kentucky complaining. So I've
- 1:03:09Speaker 14: been talking to some of my well in Texas and
- 1:03:12Speaker 14: on the radio there. They are terrified how they are
- 1:03:16Speaker 14: going to move ball without Nico Collins. They are figuring
- 1:03:20Speaker 14: that we're just going to put a cornerback on Bilton schumps.
- 1:03:25Speaker 14: They're not going to be able to run the ball.
- 1:03:28Speaker 14: And Christian Gonzalez and David are way way better than Christian,
- 1:03:32Speaker 14: Kirk and Washington. So they're really structed how the Textans
- 1:03:38Speaker 14: are going to move the ball and scarce. Secondly, they're
- 1:03:41Speaker 14: figuring that we're going to take that third tight end
- 1:03:45Speaker 14: that we have, put them on the left side next
- 1:03:47Speaker 14: to go camp from the permanent boxer for the day,
- 1:03:51Speaker 14: use two running back sets, Andre on the right side
- 1:03:54Speaker 14: to tip and help out or go out and Savean
- 1:03:57Speaker 14: on the left side to chip and catch from the
- 1:04:00Speaker 14: catch from the backfield. They figure because every time Tree
- 1:04:05Speaker 14: beyond Ju in the game, they know it to run
- 1:04:07Speaker 14: because we have not used him in the passing game
- 1:04:09Speaker 14: much and that's why he's getting bumbled up so much
- 1:04:13Speaker 14: because they're just getting.
- 1:04:14Speaker 13: To run and putting the line.
- 1:04:16Speaker 14: But both backs in the back, they won't.
- 1:04:18Speaker 11: Be able to do that.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Okay, outside of the stop.
- 1:04:22Speaker 14: Show how we're going to have the score.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: So these people are your people in Texas. So these
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: like people that work at the Alamo rental carve desk
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: at the airport or who are there? Are they? Anyone
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: you know beyond that, or like, what are we talking about.
- 1:04:36Speaker 14: One guy is a sports blogger. Other friend just a
- 1:04:40Speaker 14: big football fan, so they've been listening to the radio.
- 1:04:42Speaker 7: I don't know how big of a football fan he
- 1:04:44Speaker 7: is if he thinks Henderson hasn't been, you know, targeted
- 1:04:46Speaker 7: as a receiver, like he had more catches than Stevenson
- 1:04:50Speaker 7: during the year, right, but when.
- 1:04:52Speaker 14: When he gets in the game, we don't.
- 1:04:53Speaker 9: Usually use him in that way, right, So they no,
- 1:04:56Speaker 9: that's not that.
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: I just I just explained to you how that's not true.
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: They have I've used him quite often as a receiver.
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: So I don't know why you would just sit there
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: and say Henderson's in the game, it's not a pass
- 1:05:06Speaker 7: like I All year, they've been more than willing to
- 1:05:09Speaker 7: throw the ball to both backs when they've been in
- 1:05:11Speaker 7: the games.
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: They both have over thirty catches.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:05:15Speaker 14: Not my theory, that's their theory. My theory is this
- 1:05:18Speaker 14: he will win twenty one to stick with both teams
- 1:05:22Speaker 14: matching field goals like the first quarter and second quarter,
- 1:05:25Speaker 14: and then the Patriots scoring twice in the fourth quarter,
- 1:05:29Speaker 14: going for two on the first time they scored to
- 1:05:31Speaker 14: make it twenty one to the game in twenty one six.
- 1:05:34Speaker 14: And now I have a quick el stumpo, El grumpo
- 1:05:39Speaker 14: grump out of all the coaches that were fired in
- 1:05:42Speaker 14: this cycle, which one has more rushing yards than Bo Jackson.
- 1:05:46Speaker 14: Let's go Patriots.
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: Jim Harbaugh.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we got that one quarterback.
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: I watched all last question this week two.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I was on it.
- 1:05:54Speaker 11: I do.
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: I do like the opinion of most people that work
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: in this building. I was actually on that.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 1:05:59Speaker 8: He up Dalton Schultz though, is I do think he's
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: a sneaky way for them to I mean, he's their
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: leading receiver and we've talked a lot about the Patriots
- 1:06:06Speaker 8: having some struggles covering tight end. So I think he's
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: a guy that you know, you watch on third downs
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: that that he might move the chains for him.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: But Houston being worried about moving the ball offensively without
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: Nico Collins, I think is that whole part of Christian's
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: scouring report.
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: I would say that makes a lot of sense.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: Yeah, tuckle down effect without him.
- 1:06:23Speaker 7: Yeah, Because now you're asking, you know, either Christian Kirk
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: is going to need to do what he did Monday again,
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: which I think is probably unlikely, or a rookie who
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: hasn't been on this stage before is going to have
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: to have a really good game, and they're gonna have
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: to do it against a really good corner. You know,
- 1:06:42Speaker 7: I think Jaydon Higgins, you know, I think he's a
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: good player. I think he had a good you know,
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: just looking up his numbers here, Yeah, forty one for
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: five twenty five and six touchdowns. That's a good, solid
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: rookie year. Yeah, and I'm not telling you he's a stiff.
- 1:06:53Speaker 7: But who do you give the edge if that's him
- 1:06:55Speaker 7: against Gonzo? I give the edge to Gonzo ye, So
- 1:06:59Speaker 7: I would I would share the worries of people in
- 1:07:02Speaker 7: Houston without Nico Collins, you know, for their ability to move.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: The ball, How are you going to stretch the field too?
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: I mean, even if you like, you know Jalen Knowle,
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: he's in, you know, similar to Iowa State guys. I mean,
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: they got three Iowa State guys, but you know Schultz
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: underneath him. I mean, you're really going to ask Higgins.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: To try to take the top off the Christians people
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: must be different from the Texas people who think that's
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: better college.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Who are these people?
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: I don't know. It must be like one of those
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: one of.
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: Those games and I looked it up.
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: One of the games that they were talking about was
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: this year against San Francisco, and they scored twenty six points,
- 1:07:32Speaker 7: you know, against a good team, you know, without Collins.
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: I just I think that those sort of you know,
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: Bill Simmons made the ewing theory famous. You know, the
- 1:07:42Speaker 7: team's best players out and you get a bump from it.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: I don't think that that's necessarily something that you can
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: rely on, even in the short term. But I don't
- 1:07:51Speaker 7: know how about how you feel. But if Gonzo had
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: to cover Nico Collins and completely took him out of
- 1:07:57Speaker 7: the game, I'd feel a lot better if I were
- 1:07:58Speaker 7: Houston being able to go and fall back on the
- 1:08:01Speaker 7: other guys with Gonzales taking that guy out, as opposed
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: to if he takes Higgins or Kirk.
- 1:08:08Speaker 6: Or whoever out, Now, where do you go?
- 1:08:11Speaker 7: Well, even if Christian's right and they end up using
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: a corner on Dalton Schultz, I think there's some limited
- 1:08:19Speaker 7: weapons there now. I think they can run the ball
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: better than people think, and I think the offensive line
- 1:08:23Speaker 7: for the Texans has played a little bit better than
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: people think.
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: Ford and Savannah after all, the slurping and praising of
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: this Houston Texas defense all week. If the Patriots cut
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: through them like a hot knife through butter and put
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: up more than twenty five points, does any perceived ceiling
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: for what this team can accomplish completely disappear.
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: That's two different things. Twenty five points are cutting through them.
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: If they dominate this defense.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: It would be very impressive.
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: If they cut through this defense like a hot knife
- 1:08:48Speaker 7: through butter, that'd be a good performance by the offense.
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: They couldn't do that last week.
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I just wonder what does it look like? Is
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: it long sustained drives? Is it big plays that I'm.
- 1:08:59Speaker 7: Less worried about the point total in terms of you know,
- 1:09:03Speaker 7: in terms of that like pooh poohing the defense, which
- 1:09:05Speaker 7: is what, let's face it, that's what this is all about.
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: We have to cut down the other team.
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: But does the defense score, like Alex said, does the
- 1:09:14Speaker 7: does the Patriots defense set up some of those points?
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: Do is Marcus Jones turn in another part return for
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: a touchdown?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: Whatever?
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: That's to me is such a big key.
- 1:09:22Speaker 8: Trying to just squeeze out those extra yards, those extra plays, uh,
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: special teams return yardage all that kind of stuff.
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: But I would say either way, whether.
- 1:09:30Speaker 8: If you were to face Denver or Buffalo next week,
- 1:09:34Speaker 8: they're probably not gonna.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: Be quite as good.
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: I mean playing Denver's defense, which I agree with the
- 1:09:38Speaker 8: point you've been consistently Paul that they're not really like
- 1:09:41Speaker 8: that kind of defense to me quite I mean, I
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: do think they're very, very good, but also playing in Denver,
- 1:09:45Speaker 8: I think.
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: It's the face the Texans defense or the Bills offense.
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: Texans defense.
- 1:09:54Speaker 6: Every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: Yeah, give me the team that has the really good defense,
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: but the offense is just okay any time of the week.
- 1:10:03Speaker 7: I don't have to I don't have to get thirty
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: five points this week to win, fine with me.
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: Josh Allen Manugh Well in Burlington.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: I just wanted to ask how comparable do we think
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: this Texans defense is to the matchup they had versus
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: the Patriots and Drake May's first start in Week six
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: last season. While May has clearly developed significantly since then
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: as a passer and a player, he still passed for
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: almost twenty to fifty yards and three touchdowns, albeit with
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: two interceptions.
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: Yeah, garbage time with both May and.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: Texans defense having made significant strides since then. Do you
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: believe he'll do better or worse than those yardage touchdown
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: numbers on Sunday.
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: I don't know about the totals. He will play better
- 1:10:42Speaker 7: than he did in that game. He did not play
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: well in that game. They were dominated in that game.
- 1:10:46Speaker 7: It was twenty seven to seven. Yeah, and that's when
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: that's when May picked up all. Heusrew one pass to
- 1:10:53Speaker 7: a forty yard touchdown to Booty, which was his first
- 1:10:55Speaker 7: career touchdown, which I'm sure you guys all remember, yep, right,
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: I sure do.
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: He beat Derek Stingley on that point.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Is Kishon's first two So.
- 1:11:04Speaker 8: Other than that, he was a darren A headlights like
- 1:11:07Speaker 8: he had Anderson had three sacks.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Hunter had won.
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: Sacks, fumbles, interceptions.
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: It was a train wreck. Now it was his first
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: every game. I expect him to play a lot better
- 1:11:18Speaker 7: than that.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: Yep, Dave in South Carolina. When thinking back on the
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Chargers game, it seemed as if both the offense and
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: defense had somewhat of an atypical game. Based on how
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: they performed throughout the year. Drake may seem to have
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: taken some degree of regression back to year one with
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: his turnovers. Additionally, it seemed to be that he struggled
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: to move the ball effectively by comparison to the larger
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: body of work throughout the year. With regards to the defense,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: I have not seen a dominant performance all year like
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: they did against the Chargers. So my question would be,
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: what do you think would be more likely in this
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: upcoming game that the defense would repeat its dominance or
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: Drake would potentially struggle with turnovers and fumbles and moving
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: the ball.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: My hope would be that they both.
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: I don't expect the defense to play quite as as
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: good as they did last week, but and so maybe
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: they regress a little bit, but maybe Drake improves a
- 1:12:06Speaker 8: little bit.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: And hearing from him.
- 1:12:07Speaker 8: Yesterday, he's acutely aware of the things that can't happen
- 1:12:11Speaker 8: with the.
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: Turnovers, and you know, he pointed to the tipball interception.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: It is what it is.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: Maybe there's somebody could do.
- 1:12:16Speaker 8: But you know, the other the other stripsack he took
- 1:12:19Speaker 8: was I mean it's supposed to be the ball is out.
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: I mean both tackles cut and he holds it because
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: they drop a guy out on Digs's side, so any
- 1:12:26Speaker 8: you know, he said that can't happen. So I hope
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: that he takes that as a learning experience. He plays
- 1:12:30Speaker 8: a little better. Maybe the offset if the defense isn't
- 1:12:32Speaker 8: quite as as shutdown as they were.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Okay, let's go back to the phones.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: I'm gonna jump out. I'll be back in a minute.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Guys, where are you going. I'm gonna go to the
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: locker room. Who we have to see today? I gotta
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: whoever pops up Frett? Okay, Okay, Danny's in Daytona. What's up? Danny?
- 1:12:51Speaker 14: Did you guys?
- 1:12:52Speaker 8: Hear me?
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:12:54Speaker 21: Hey, how's it go with brad Ball?
- 1:12:55Speaker 20: Alex?
- 1:12:59Speaker 14: So?
- 1:12:59Speaker 21: Uh, just call him back? And again, I did want
- 1:13:02Speaker 21: to There's one thing I forgot to mention yesterday that
- 1:13:05Speaker 21: I wanted to say, kind of chiming in on that line,
- 1:13:08Speaker 21: that Paul, you had some valid points. Maybe there was
- 1:13:10Speaker 21: an indictment on the line. But I'm not gonna harp
- 1:13:14Speaker 21: too much about the whole six sixth lineman. But what
- 1:13:17Speaker 21: else do you think? What other packages do you think
- 1:13:19Speaker 21: that the Patriots could use besides the sixth offensive lineman?
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Do you think that twenty two possibly get personnel?
- 1:13:30Speaker 21: Twenty two persons. Okay, do you think that I think
- 1:13:33Speaker 21: Kaylee probably knows Josh's twelve of twelve personnel, so I
- 1:13:36Speaker 21: think you're probably right with him he using the twenty two.
- 1:13:39Speaker 21: But do you think that they should they should try
- 1:13:41Speaker 21: to maybe get I know Westover isn't Kyle hughes Check,
- 1:13:44Speaker 21: but do you think they should try to maybe get
- 1:13:46Speaker 21: west Over kind of like or or whoever in the
- 1:13:49Speaker 21: backfield kind of doing some Kyle ughes Check kind of
- 1:13:51Speaker 21: pulled back more catching out of the backfield, or well they.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Threw him to him last game he caught a pass.
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: I don't want to see he did.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't, I don't you know, listen.
- 1:14:02Speaker 7: I mean as in a play like that where like
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: you play breaks down, they got nothing going, they just
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: throw it out. Sure, take take the take the profit.
- 1:14:10Speaker 7: You know, it's a ten yard play. That's not how
- 1:14:12Speaker 7: they're gonna win the game.
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: No, But I will say, Danny, that they'll have something
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: up their sleeve. I mean recently, every game there's something
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: we haven't seen.
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: And we've had a check play like five or six
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: weeks in a row.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, yeah, so there'll be something. There'll be something.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: So, uh, the thing is if it doesn't work against Texans,
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: it could be disastrous because they you know, if you
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: screw up against them, Uh, it could be catastrophe.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: Let's go to Calvin and Denver. What's up, Calvin?
- 1:14:47Speaker 9: How's it going everyone?
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:14:51Speaker 9: Parsol. My take is that I think that we have
- 1:14:54Speaker 9: a better offense than than the Texans offense. And obviously
- 1:14:59Speaker 9: I think that the Texans defense is obviously a little
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: bit better. But is that after the Broncos game that
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: Texans played where CJ got hurt? After those I'm seeing
- 1:15:11Speaker 9: his completion percentages and you know, even throughout the whole
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: year is just a constant up and down, up and down.
- 1:15:18Speaker 9: So from what I've seen and heard through the national media,
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: they're saying that c J stroud, they have more praise,
- 1:15:26Speaker 9: that he would have a bounce back game against us
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: this week. I don't see that happening. I think that
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: what we're seeing now and what we saw against the
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: Steelers is kind of an indictment of what he has
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: been kind of going through this whole season.
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: Well, but it's not. He had a very bad game
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: against Pittsburgh. Do you think that I'm aware? Do you
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: think Drake May will play better this game than he
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: did last game.
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: So I guess where I'm coming from, Paul, Is I
- 1:15:53Speaker 9: think that Drake May is more reluctant.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: To have a better game.
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: No, no, But I'm not asking about J. Stroud.
- 1:15:59Speaker 7: I'm asking about Drake May. Do you think he'll have
- 1:16:01Speaker 7: a better game than he did against Houston?
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:16:04Speaker 8: I do too.
- 1:16:05Speaker 6: I mean, I'm sorry against the Chargers. I think he
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: will too.
- 1:16:08Speaker 7: I don't expect. I don't expect guys that are at
- 1:16:10Speaker 7: this stage to just play poorly. I don't, and I
- 1:16:14Speaker 7: think if you're relying on that to win, that's not
- 1:16:17Speaker 7: a really good plan.
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: Like I'm going to I'm going to.
- 1:16:21Speaker 7: Expect that players will play well, and the Patriots are
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: going to need to be responding offensively.
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: I agree with you. Their offense is much better than
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: Houston's offense.
- 1:16:30Speaker 7: I expect them to play better and score some points,
- 1:16:33Speaker 7: regardless of the opponent I think Drake. If Drake May
- 1:16:37Speaker 7: plays like he did against the Chargers, the Patriot's going
- 1:16:39Speaker 7: to be in trouble.
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: Same thing, same thing for Houston. If CJ.
- 1:16:43Speaker 7: Stroud plays the way he did against Pittsburgh, the Texans
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: are in trouble. They're not winning the game. If he
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: fumbles five times and throws a pick, they're not going
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: to win with that. I expect him to play better
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: than that. He's a better player than that, and he
- 1:16:56Speaker 7: was a better player than that all year. That was
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: a very typical game in terms of ball security. The
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: Texans haven't done that all year. They haven't been sloppy
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: with the football like that all year. So I'm going
- 1:17:09Speaker 7: to track it up as a one off, just like
- 1:17:10Speaker 7: I'm chocking Drake May's game as a one off. Now,
- 1:17:14Speaker 7: who do I expect to play better?
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: Drake May?
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: I think he's a better player.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Calvin Nice, try Dan and Virginia Michigan.
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: Do you know what my point that is?
- 1:17:25Speaker 7: Like, if if Drake May goes six for fifteen for
- 1:17:29Speaker 7: ninety yards in the first half, the Patriots are in trouble,
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: do you expect that to happen again?
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: He just bounces back too well after.
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: So, like, I'm going to take the balance of three
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: years of CJ.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Stroud where he's like, look this up, So let me
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: ask you a question.
- 1:17:46Speaker 7: Sixty five percent completion percentage and you know, you know,
- 1:17:49Speaker 7: he actually had a better game on Monday than Drake
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: May did.
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: Like statistically ques a dangerous way to put it.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: But we all agree that both Drake May and CG.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Stroud had bad games last week, not you know, not
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: as good as they their best, not their best games. Who,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: because of the defense they're playing against, has a better
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: chance of doing a lot better.
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: See.
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: I think May has a better chance of playing better
- 1:18:16Speaker 7: because he's a better player. But I don't think that
- 1:18:19Speaker 7: that means Stroud.
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Will play poorly.
- 1:18:21Speaker 13: Right.
- 1:18:22Speaker 7: I think people are banking on Stroud doing what he
- 1:18:24Speaker 7: did against Pittsburgh, and they're completely dismissing the possibility of
- 1:18:28Speaker 7: May doing what he did against the Chargers. Right, I
- 1:18:31Speaker 7: am dismissing both. I don't think there's any chance that
- 1:18:33Speaker 7: both of them will play that that badly. Again, if
- 1:18:36Speaker 7: it does happen, whoever it happens to is going to
- 1:18:40Speaker 7: be in a lot of trouble because you've got to
- 1:18:42Speaker 7: score some points you can't. Yeah, I've seen some people,
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: you know, say like, oh, all they got to do
- 1:18:47Speaker 7: is get to ten. Texans aren't going to score time
- 1:18:50Speaker 7: Like maybe defense, maybe they won't, but.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: Their offense might not, their defense might.
- 1:18:54Speaker 7: That's a hard thing to bank on like holding a
- 1:18:57Speaker 7: team to three points like that. That was a truly
- 1:18:59Speaker 7: ecce eceptional defensive performance by the Patriots.
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: Just beautiful to watch Dan and Virginia and Michigan. Henderson
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: stepped out surprisingly well when Stevenson was limited during the season,
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: but seems to have dropped off recently. Is that drop
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: off due to the rookie slump or is it more
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: about Stevenson rising up rather than Henderson dropping off?
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: That's his first question.
- 1:19:20Speaker 7: It's a good question. It could be the wall a
- 1:19:22Speaker 7: little bit. Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to dismiss that.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. I don't.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: Definitely Stevenson has risen up, but I don't look at
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: that as making Henderson look worse. Like just look at
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: Henderson and you know he hasn't had the explosive plays
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: of the yards per carry that he has to me,
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: like I said, it's often like he's running into the
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: pack and there's just no no daylight there at all
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: for him.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: So we'll see.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: I think when I'm what I asked Henderson to do
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: a little bit more is be a little bit more patient,
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: you know, you know, just because you're told to hit
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: the a gap or the two hole, or however the
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: Patriots number it. That doesn't mean like, if it's not there,
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: you can't do a little freelancing. You've got the you know,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: the talent to be able to do that. As long
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: as you take care of the ball, go for it.
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: This past weekend, May was stripped of the ball while
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: attempting to throw from within a crowd. I was surprised
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: that didn't happen more. During this season, it often seemed
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: that May was getting swarm but no escape. Yet somehow
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: miraculously got the ball out of the crowded phone booth.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: Is that a dangerous way to live and we're seeing
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: it catch up with May against better teams in the playoffs?
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: Or was the strip on the weekend an individual incident
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: and May will be fine? Yeah, I mean mostly I
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: see May getting out of phone booth with his legs.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I don't see him.
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: I didn't see him a lot this year throwing with
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: guy's arms all over him. He usually makes room to
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: get himself the ability to throw without those.
- 1:21:02Speaker 7: I would say more often than not. You're right that
- 1:21:06Speaker 7: he was able to avoid tackles and break tackles and
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: then make throwers. But he did a little bit of
- 1:21:11Speaker 7: both too. He's like he fumbles the ball mm hmm
- 1:21:15Speaker 7: a little bit. Did he lost three during the year's
- 1:21:18Speaker 7: not like he didn't.
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: I wonder if it gets overlooked because Ramandre just had
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: so many during that Steelers game. But Drake did two.
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: Yeah, Drake had one, a huge one which was very
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: similar to the ones that he had against the Chargers,
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: trying to do too much in the pocket.
- 1:21:32Speaker 6: Yeah, he had one against the Falcons doing the same thing.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Mark and fall River excited for this week's game. My
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: question is around the reaction of last week's defensive performance.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: Paul you stated earlier in the week, this is the
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: best defensive performance you've seen for the team in years.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: I agree.
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: However, all week I've been hearing is people acting as
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: if last week's performance is what this defense is. Do
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: you feel that has been the reaction? Also, do you
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: expect to get a similar performance this week?
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: I do feel like that's been the reaction. I think
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: people are now expecting. I've heard a lot of people
- 1:22:03Speaker 7: say the Texans be lucky to get to ten. Yeah,
- 1:22:07Speaker 7: and I just think that's the Patriots haven't really done
- 1:22:10Speaker 7: that defensively in a long time.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: What they did on Sunday, and it's just not the
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: way the NFL roles, you know.
- 1:22:18Speaker 7: It's just like, I'm not going to tell you that
- 1:22:21Speaker 7: the Texans are going to hold the Patriots under ten
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: and I don't care how good the Texans defense is,
- 1:22:25Speaker 7: You're not going to do that.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: In the playoffs, every game seems to have its own identity.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: I doubt that this game's identity will be the same
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: as last weeks. And as le Garrett Blunt says, whatever
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: you think is going to happen, it's something else, and
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: I tend to agree with that when it comes to
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: But it's funny because you would think it would shape
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: up to be so similar just based on how their
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: game went against the Steelers too. I feel like was
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: really similar to how ours went until they did break
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: it open at the end. So yeah, maybe it is
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: a shootout.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be something.
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: I mean.
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: I think that the offenses are going to have to
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: protect the ball to make sure they don't give the
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: other team points, make them earn the points offensively.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: Sam and Charlotte, what do you think about people Felga
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: saying that quarterbacks shouldn't be able to run? I think
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: it's one of his dumb takes.
- 1:23:13Speaker 7: That's overstated dramatically. For a fact, that's not what Mike says.
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: He's not a big fan of the quarterback runs, and
- 1:23:20Speaker 7: he thinks the protections that are afforded the quarterbacks might
- 1:23:24Speaker 7: need to be amended.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: No, but I've heard him like last week all this
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: college like all.
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: These options everything to him as college.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: You know, in quarterbacks, all this stuff, and it's like
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: so like forty years ago, he was probably railing against
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: the forward pass.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I mean, like, what is he talking about.
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: Yeah, that's not necessarily what his point is. But I'm
- 1:23:43Speaker 6: not going to argue for him.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Like he can.
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: He's a big boy, he can, he can defend himself.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: I just think it's it's his point is it shouldn't.
- 1:23:52Speaker 7: It's not that they should outlaw quarterbacks running.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: It's not his points sounded like it sounded like he hates.
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: You should be able to tackle the quarterback.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: He said, I don't even like it when they're in
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: the shotgun.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: No, he doesn't. He said that he doesn't like shotgun.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: He doesn't.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: That's ridiculous.
- 1:24:08Speaker 7: Well, why that shotgun is not a new thing. Shotgun
- 1:24:10Speaker 7: has been around for I know, I don't even like it.
- 1:24:12Speaker 7: Why he'll tell you what he's How can I tell
- 1:24:14Speaker 7: you what he should like?
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: He doesn't like it.
- 1:24:18Speaker 7: He likes under center, all right, uh's opinion?
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: I don't know if it's Jessel will just sell from Brooklyn?
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: What's up to sell?
- 1:24:28Speaker 14: How's it going?
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: Man?
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 1:24:33Speaker 22: I'm praying for you know, both teams to come out
- 1:24:36Speaker 22: this game healthy, but ultimately for a huge Patriots victory
- 1:24:39Speaker 22: this week. And I think a big part of this
- 1:24:41Speaker 22: game is going to be the pressure on both sides.
- 1:24:45Speaker 22: And one thing that encourages me is Drake May the
- 1:24:47Speaker 22: second best quarterback in the NFL, and EA when under
- 1:24:50Speaker 22: pressure a lot lower than that. And I think, you know,
- 1:24:54Speaker 22: the team that gets the most pressure is gonna not
- 1:24:58Speaker 22: the most pressure, but play the best under that pressure
- 1:25:02Speaker 22: is gonna win this game.
- 1:25:02Speaker 12: And I really believe.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: Yeah, no, I think that's what you think.
- 1:25:08Speaker 7: Very rational. Jake has been great under pressure all season long.
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: No reason to think he's not going to be on Sunday.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Just so, where you sound like you're at Grand Central.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Can you say train for arriving now there you go? Yeah,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: it sounds like you're on a on the speaker, all right,
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: thanks for the call. What is wrong with you? Doesn't
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: it sound like he's like, should be announcing trains at
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: the port authorities?
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: No, just because he's in Brooklyn.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: No, it sounds like.
- 1:25:38Speaker 6: He's like, you know, yeah, I like there was an
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: echo in the background exactly.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Yeah, like going on in New York station.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: I'm not crazy a little bit, uh, DJ in Arizona?
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: What's up? DJJ?
- 1:25:54Speaker 12: What's up everyone?
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: I hope you're all doing great phone line?
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: Yeah, happy happy here.
- 1:26:00Speaker 12: So right now, I'm excited because before the playoffs started,
- 1:26:06Speaker 12: like there would be some games. I've even called in
- 1:26:09Speaker 12: like in our pregame shows are colored and talked to
- 1:26:11Speaker 12: Paul and stuff about how I'm just a little anxious
- 1:26:14Speaker 12: as excited, But I don't. I haven't felt that way
- 1:26:17Speaker 12: with the Chargers game, and I don't feel that way
- 1:26:19Speaker 12: with this game. It's just something that I've watched like
- 1:26:21Speaker 12: all season with the teams and both like listening to
- 1:26:25Speaker 12: you all and the things y'all point out, and I
- 1:26:28Speaker 12: noticed those things also, and I'm like, our team really
- 1:26:31Speaker 12: has a good advantage as long as Drake May does
- 1:26:33Speaker 12: his job and our defense just play even a midget
- 1:26:38Speaker 12: of what they did against the Chargers. I don't see really.
- 1:26:41Speaker 12: I don't think like how some people are going insane
- 1:26:44Speaker 12: saying we should blow them out or anything like that.
- 1:26:46Speaker 12: I believe in their defense. But I mean, besides all
- 1:26:50Speaker 12: of what I'm saying, because I'm kind of just rambling
- 1:26:52Speaker 12: at this point, I just really believe that. I really
- 1:26:56Speaker 12: just believe that, Like if we just have a good
- 1:26:58Speaker 12: defensive game, and Drake may does it think that we
- 1:27:00Speaker 12: don't have a reason why we shouldn't, and then I'll
- 1:27:02Speaker 12: take it off.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: I agree, why not?
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Why not?
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: I agree to you?
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: J I I like our chances this game. I'm you know,
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: I like our chances.
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: There's a shock.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Well to that.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: To his point, he said he hasn't felt nervous for
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: this game or the Chargers. I was way more nervous,
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: I think, for the Chargers game than I am now.
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: I wasn't overly nervous about the Chargers game. I thought
- 1:27:25Speaker 7: the Chargers were going to scool last to get within
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: a touchdown, but that game was going.
- 1:27:30Speaker 9: To be nothing.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: Terrifies me like a really good quarterback. That's why it
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: just comes down to that for me. That's why Josh
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: is still the only team I don't really want them
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: to play is the Bills.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: I'm always a little nervous before any game, especially when
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: we get to the playoffs, so that's not any different
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: this week.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: But I don't I feel delusional today, Alex.
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: I don't think if you think the Patriots are going.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: To win, No, I have the delusion that we're going
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: to the super Bowl.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: We are the favorite team in the f C to
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: do so.
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: I don't think that's delusional. I don't.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: It felt it a couple of weeks ago, though, like
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: we're having serious conversations about getting you know, like, I
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: think if we can get through.
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: The title only two wins away, like it's there, and
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: I feel like if.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: You have it this weekend, you at least make a
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: Super Bowl appearance.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Listen, I think the Patriots are pretty good, so does
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: everybody else.
- 1:28:24Speaker 6: You just said that they are the odds.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: The Texans defense, then maybe I ideally would want to
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: go against Denver. We probably feel differently about that. But
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: if you can get through the Texans defense, Denver's doesn't
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: feel as bad. Maybe you play Seattle in the Super Bowl.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: You go through three really hard defenses to win it all.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: I think that's the kins and when it totally legitimizes
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: the strength of schedule because you went through that caliber
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: of defenses like.
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: It's just but defens is not offenses. That's the teams
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: that I want to see.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Same, That's what I just said. I don't want
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: to go quarterback. I don't want to see John No,
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: I don't want to bring them on.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Jack writes in He's from Barcelona.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: After the Chargers game, all of you said, uh, you
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: expect that the defensive performance the Patriots had won't be replicated.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: I do believe we're going to have another amazing defensive game,
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: not only because we have a defensive minded coach and
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: a great one, by the way, but because we have
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: the best quarterback.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: On defense in the entire league in Splaine. What do
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: you think about that?
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: I agree?
- 1:29:28Speaker 10: I like it.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Lead them, Lead them. You should have T shirts lead them,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: and then I should have Splaine under it.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: I should have asked him if he knew that we've
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: made that such a bit.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: You should so this is although I still think he
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: might have said leave them because he was talking about
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: the chips.
- 1:29:45Speaker 6: Oh okay, so you won't be impressed if the Patriots
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: win this game based on how I.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Won't be impressed how bad Houston is. Who said I
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: said they're bad, not you, But I'm.
- 1:29:57Speaker 7: Saying everybody that we're hearing from, Oh some might not,
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: so people will not be very important.
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: I think this is a pretty good team.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: That I do too.
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: Isn't discrediting anything about the Texans.
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: It's just the Patriots are going to find a way
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: to win at home. That's I said.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: Four weeks ago.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: Texans were one of the hottest teams in the AFC,
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: and people scoffed at me.
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: Well they're still scoffing at you. They think they stinky.
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: And which which in your opinion are the best quarterbacks
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: on defense in the league right now in all time?
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: Quarterbacks on defense in all time, Well, you know, you
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: look at middle linebackers mostly or safeties. You know, John
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: Lynch I thought was a great one. I always liked him.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: Ah, I don't know.
- 1:30:43Speaker 6: I don't know who that Tom who plays quarterbacks?
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: That Thomas from Miami was always a good one. Like
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: Steve Nelson for the Patriots was a good one.
- 1:30:51Speaker 7: Back.
- 1:30:52Speaker 13: Is it?
- 1:30:54Speaker 7: Who are you giving credit for? Like we're saying that
- 1:30:56Speaker 7: you have a really good defensive minded coach and Rabel
- 1:30:59Speaker 7: who comes So is it? Is it scheme related or
- 1:31:01Speaker 7: is it because a guy is running around making plays?
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: Both?
- 1:31:04Speaker 7: Because I don't think we saw a lot of running
- 1:31:06Speaker 7: around making play from Splain the other day. But do
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: you give him credit for all the communications and all
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: that stuff?
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: Okay, yes, because it was so loud. He told me
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: how hard it was to be listening to Zach calling
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: the game and kind of convey it to the rest
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: of the guys with just the crowd presence.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a liar.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: He might be.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: I'm only kid.
- 1:31:29Speaker 7: By the way, when did anybody know? I didn't want
- 1:31:32Speaker 7: to like belabor it because I thought it already had
- 1:31:34Speaker 7: gone on too long. But when Evan actually read the tweet,
- 1:31:36Speaker 7: the word liar was never.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: And that was Fred's whole argument at the beginning. He
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: didn't call him a liar, He just said it was bs.
- 1:31:45Speaker 6: I didn't want to win flame.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: I don't know if Evan was understanding that point or.
- 1:31:49Speaker 6: Right, and I was believe it or not.
- 1:31:51Speaker 7: As much as I love to argue with my guy,
- 1:31:54Speaker 7: I was with Fred because if you say, you're suggesting
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: that there was nobody on the Chargers that said that
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: that would be a lot.
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: It's not a matter of opinion.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: Whether the defense wasn't disguising coverages not a.
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: Lie, that's an opinion, right, Okay, we need.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: Boetin board of material. We need it, and he needs
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: to be careful Jackson does.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Jackson writes in to slow down the Texans pass rush.
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: If Kiris Tonga is back, would it be a good
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: idea to put him on the left side of the
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: offensive line. They were already using him as a fullback
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: on offense. And no, he's not a blocker.
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: Do you think that is at Thaniris Tonga?
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: It's one thing to just say go straight ahead and
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: hit anything in front of you if you want to run.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Other one to have technique to get somebody in space.
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: If you want to run, like with two backs in
- 1:32:52Speaker 7: the backfield, short yards you want to run, give me
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: Tonga over west Over.
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: That's the blocker.
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: Yes, you need a yard.
- 1:32:58Speaker 6: I'll take Tongo rest over.
- 1:33:00Speaker 7: But in terms of past protection, we need an extra
- 1:33:03Speaker 7: alignment out there or someone that I wanted to be
- 1:33:06Speaker 7: a blocker, not a defensive lineman.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, stuck in Connecticut rights in Stuck just
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: wanted to plug the Houston Patriots Fan Club watch party
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: at Cactus Cove. We're also celebrating our twentieth anniversary as
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: a fan club this year. Congratulations, thank you for your service.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: I may have moved home to New England, but Josh
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: and his crew have done an awesome job carrying the torch,
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: so huge shout out to Josh Samples.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: So that's the Houston. Houston fan club has always been
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: very good, very very well organized.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: That's pretty awesome. That is their twentieth season and they're
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: celebrating playing like the Houston versus US. You know, their city.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: So does that their team.
- 1:33:48Speaker 6: More stressful?
- 1:33:49Speaker 7: You think for like an out of town fan club
- 1:33:54Speaker 7: playing in the market that they're actually playing against.
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: So you're Houston playing against Houston. Stake there.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: If you lose, absolutely more people around to trash talk you, right.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: But they've always been a very well organized fan club.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: Good they do a good job.
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: Good job, Josh.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: Anthony's in Connecticut. What's up? Anthony? Anthony? All Right? You
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: just called. It's not like I had him in the
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: hole for a long time.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: Anthony in South Florida, rights and I agree with Paul
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: that every quarterback left is good.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: However, and he has good quotes. However, I do think CJ.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: Stroud is the worst remaining quarterback not named Bo Nicks without.
- 1:34:39Speaker 6: Okay, and then we'll throw Donald in there, so you know,
- 1:34:43Speaker 6: suddenly he's in the middle of.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: The pack without his best weapon and favorite target.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: I cannot see the Texans offense having more success than
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: the Chargers. Not saying they'll only score three, but I
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: can't see them scoring any more than seventeen.
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: Wasn't that market that's immensely more than the Chargers.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: Isn't his best target Schultz?
- 1:35:02Speaker 7: No, Collins is his number one guy. Okay, I mean
- 1:35:05Speaker 7: in terms of receptions, it's Schultz, but not Oh god, Fred,
- 1:35:09Speaker 7: you're talking about the difference between eleven hundred yards and
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: seven hundred and seventy yards.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: But how many receptions does Schultz have? Eighty two?
- 1:35:15Speaker 6: How many does seventy one?
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Okay, for four hundred more yards.
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: But Collins.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: He likes going to Schultz.
- 1:35:23Speaker 7: It's not as much as Collins. Like seventy one catches
- 1:35:26Speaker 7: for eleven hundred and seventeen yards, that's impressive, Like that's
- 1:35:30Speaker 7: his guy.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35:30Speaker 7: Now again, somehow in Houston they're talking themselves into he's
- 1:35:35Speaker 7: better without him.
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: I don't buy it. They're gonna miss Nego Collins. Let
- 1:35:39Speaker 6: them think that they're gonna miss.
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: Shaf gun play.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: Let's see, David writes in subject line coaching matters. I
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: couldn't help but notice on Sunday night during the game
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: that right before the touchdown to Henry was a first
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: down run by Stevenson. Rabel took a time out right
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: before that play. If you notice, right before the time out,
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: may checked into another play, taking Stevenson out of the
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: batfield and seemingly audibling.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: To a pass play.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: Rabel then took the time out and let Stevenson pick
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: up the first down, which led to the Henry touchdown.
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: I'm wondering if you guys notice this as I believe
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: Rabel or McDaniels saw, i'my trying to check into a
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: pass play and calling the timeout to tell him it
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: would be better to run there to pick up the
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: first If that's why they did it, it just goes
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: to show how great coaching effects games on the biggest stages.
- 1:36:28Speaker 7: Well, I mean, I didn't know. I thought, and you
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: might be right that the emailer might have this perfect.
- 1:36:34Speaker 7: I thought the timeout was to avoid a delay a game.
- 1:36:37Speaker 7: I thought they were running late. I think he was
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: changing the play at the line and they were running
- 1:36:40Speaker 7: up against the play clock. But yeah, but he might
- 1:36:43Speaker 7: be right, But I would hesitate to credit or blame
- 1:36:47Speaker 7: or blame a coach with a timeout in that situation.
- 1:36:51Speaker 7: You don't know what's going to happen. So let's just
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: say for whatever. Let's say the email is right and
- 1:36:56Speaker 7: they checked out of something that Drake was doing. But
- 1:36:59Speaker 7: what if whatever Drake was doing was going to be
- 1:37:01Speaker 7: a touchdown, just like this play was a touchdown.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: You don't know, but I thought that email is going
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: to be about from the miked up was just it
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: was pretty cool hearing Drake like hyping up the guys
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: on offense and being like, hey, they're in bass, they're
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: in bass, and just going back to all this stuff
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: Evan has written about and talked about this week about
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: the Patriots, like finally finding success and Josh scheming up
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: like that heavy personnel on the line to force them
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: into base. I just thought it was cool to kind
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: of see the work that out on the miked up
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: a minute. All was cool that they let us include
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 1:37:33Speaker 7: That's great because I do think that they got two
- 1:37:37Speaker 7: big plays at least out of their the jumbo package
- 1:37:40Speaker 7: with Munford in the game. Now, I made a comment
- 1:37:44Speaker 7: about this and Evan seemed to pooh pooh it.
- 1:37:46Speaker 6: But I'm used to that.
- 1:37:48Speaker 7: I just think the Chargers would take their chances with
- 1:37:50Speaker 7: the Henry touchdown. I think they had it defended reasonably well, yeah,
- 1:37:54Speaker 7: a pressure, and I think it was, as Mike Rabel said,
- 1:37:57Speaker 7: an elite throw. Evan seemed to think it was an
- 1:38:01Speaker 7: unbelievable play by James to even be that close, Like,
- 1:38:06Speaker 7: I don't know. They kind of had him surrounded and
- 1:38:08Speaker 7: Drake put it in the only place that he could
- 1:38:10Speaker 7: to have it be caught. It ended up looking easy,
- 1:38:12Speaker 7: but that was not easy. No, Drake made it look
- 1:38:15Speaker 7: easy because he's that good. Exact yes, Jordan.
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: In Atlanta, we've discussed how openings in the Houston defense
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: may be ripe for Drake made to exploit with his
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: running ability in a scrambling sense. But I'm wondering if
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: there would be more opportunities for integrating design runs with
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: the quarterback into the usual run game. Is this time
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: of year where a new wrinkle can throw off an
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: opponent just enough to make a difference. Also, I agree
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: with Evan that negating the haters on Twitter is important
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: because us younger folks can't look away. But in the end,
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: winning cures all design runs for Drake could be a wrinkle. Absolutely,
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: they've used it down the stretch. Yeah, periodically.
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: I like it.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:38:56Speaker 6: I don't. I don't want to get him exposed to
- 1:38:58Speaker 6: any more hits than he needs to be.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Knows what he's doing. He's a big boy.
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: I think he does the.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: Linebacker that the Texans have.
- 1:39:06Speaker 6: That's yeah, Henry too.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's very mean.
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: I don't want to very rarely comes across as a
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: girl who's watching football until that, you know, he's mean.
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: I think he's a dirty player, Alex, I think he's
- 1:39:24Speaker 7: a dirty player.
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: I really do so.
- 1:39:27Speaker 7: I'm just I think Drake is too macho for his
- 1:39:32Speaker 7: own good when it comes to running the ball, and
- 1:39:34Speaker 7: I don't think he gets himself out of harm's way
- 1:39:37Speaker 7: often enough.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: That's and how do you shake that? Because he got
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: the crap beat out of him his whole life, you know,
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: like that's why he thinks he's invincibly made it this
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: part with Threeller brothers.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I thought his long run last game was funny.
- 1:39:48Speaker 3: If you look at it from behind, it looked like
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: he was a mother holding a child running away from
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: a fire.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Because like he was doing all this joking, but his
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: arms were It was so funny to look at from.
- 1:40:00Speaker 7: Behind, and that worked out perfectly because there was literally
- 1:40:03Speaker 7: nobody there. But all that takes is have a guy
- 1:40:06Speaker 7: coming across that you don't know is there from the backside,
- 1:40:09Speaker 7: and bang, and that would be you know, I'm not
- 1:40:12Speaker 7: saying I want him to run. I think that's going
- 1:40:14Speaker 7: to be part of this game.
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: I don't want to be a designed player.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: I don't want to take it.
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: If it's there, don't correct draw it up that way.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: Bill from Jersey curious.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Have Mike rabel defenses always disguised coverages, even back when
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: he was with Tennessee and Houston.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Have any of the Patriots teams in the past disguise coverages?
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: Of course they have.
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: Seems like that wasn't Bill Belichick's style. Oh, that was
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: Jill Belichick's style. He loved the disguise coverage.
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: Is he claiming that Bill Belichick didn't disguise?
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: He says, seems like that wasn't Bill Belichick's style.
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: Samuel's pick six and.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: The the whole narrative of the Rams Super Bowl too,
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: is what they were doing.
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: They played a whole different style with defense.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: They were feeding the hell a lot of Marshall fall No, no, he's.
- 1:41:02Speaker 7: Alex Is talking about the second Ram Super Bowl when
- 1:41:05Speaker 7: they went from a band to zone or someone.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: I remember a little bit. Yeah, no, No, Belichick was
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: a master of disguise.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: I remember just Devin mccordy interviewed saying like we literally
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: scrapped everything we did all year and totally installed in
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: new deal.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: Absolutely. That was another of his strengths is not even
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: within the game, but from game to game, game planning, defense.
- 1:41:23Speaker 7: I remember back in the original Dynasty, the first part
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: of the Dynasty days where he would flip flop Rodney,
- 1:41:28Speaker 7: Harrison and ty Lock. He'd have you know, one of
- 1:41:34Speaker 7: them up. You know, Harrison would be up to hit
- 1:41:37Speaker 7: a guy like disguising what you know what who was
- 1:41:40Speaker 7: going to be dropping. They would give you know, the
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: single high look but it was actually cover two. They
- 1:41:45Speaker 7: did a lot of stuff like that. I mean, I'm
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: not I'm not having when it comes to breaking this
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: stuff down, but I'm pretty critical of Belichick. That wouldn't
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: be one of the things I would choose to take
- 1:41:54Speaker 7: fire Bill.
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: And I don't know if I talked about this on
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: the air yesterday or it was off air, but I
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: was wondering if when Rabel was a player, having been
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: coached by Bill Belichick, the great defensive mind, if that
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: helps him now, like knowing every week that we're going
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: to have a different game plan for this team and
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: learning how Belichick did it. Because Rabel, they said he
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: was like a coach back then, everyone thought he could
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: be a coach.
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: No, I remember when he had to go inside just
- 1:42:24Speaker 7: by a whole different position one season because of injuries.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: But I can't imagine he hasn't picked up a lot
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: of that from Belichick in terms of game planning, you know,
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: per game with his defense.
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: And disguise is a big part of it.
- 1:42:37Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, I think so, Jeremiah says. I agree with
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: DJ and Alex. I was really anxious for the Chargers
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: game due to the quarterback in a good defense. However,
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: for this game, I don't have the same opinion for
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: Stroud to where I feel he can put on a
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: cape and go win them a game. I really think
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: people are underrating Houston's offense, and I think they will
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: play well, but I feel confident in the Patriots to
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: get it done.
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: That's fair. That's kind of where I am.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think he's that type of quarterback.
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: I pit my cap, but I'll be disappointed.
- 1:43:07Speaker 7: I don't think he's that quarterback either that can put
- 1:43:10Speaker 7: the cape on. And maybe you did think that with Herbert.
- 1:43:14Speaker 7: I would just say that I don't give much chance
- 1:43:18Speaker 7: of Stroud playing as poorly as Herbert did. I don't
- 1:43:22Speaker 7: think there's much chance of that. That's a legendary bad performance.
- 1:43:26Speaker 7: And I like you guys, know, I like justin Herbert
- 1:43:29Speaker 7: that was bad.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Some emailer.
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: Something I haven't heard any discussion about is that having
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: the home field makes it less probable that the refs
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: destroy your game. Not using them as an excuse, but
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: with the bad officiating we've seen this year, and knowing
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: that one bad call can be the difference in a
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: close game, I like being at home where an official
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: is less likely to rule against our team on a
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: possible penalty call.
- 1:43:54Speaker 6: I disagree with that.
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: Yeah, these guys are incompetent, regardless of Vinyas. I'd like
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: to see the stats on well this guy in particular
- 1:44:02Speaker 7: that they have this year. I think Mike said it
- 1:44:03Speaker 7: on Tuesday. This guy has the home team has a
- 1:44:06Speaker 7: losing record, like, oh yeah, Now I don't know that
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: to be true. I think Mike said that the other day.
- 1:44:14Speaker 7: She said, Sean Smith, I think is the reference.
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: I remember the ref, but I remember it was and
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: then compared to other officials, it's closer.
- 1:44:24Speaker 7: But this is the NBA where the crowd is right
- 1:44:26Speaker 7: on top of the court and they, you know, seemingly
- 1:44:29Speaker 7: at times can impact a call that doesn't happen in
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: the NFL, Like I think there's bad calls regardless of venue.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Anthony, Connecticut.
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: Can I just stopped you for a Quicksbacond?
- 1:44:40Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:44:41Speaker 6: I will say.
- 1:44:43Speaker 7: There was back to back plays in the game Sunday
- 1:44:46Speaker 7: night against the Chargers. There was a deep ball down
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: on the Patriots sideline right in front of the Patriots
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: bench Carlton, where Gonzales had it pushed the guy Johnston.
- 1:44:58Speaker 7: They threw a flag right the Patriots sideline, and I
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: absolutely think the Patriots sideline, not the crowd to pick
- 1:45:06Speaker 7: the Patriots sideline impacted their eventual decision to pick it up.
- 1:45:11Speaker 6: And on the very next step. The same thing happened
- 1:45:14Speaker 6: on the Chargers.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: Talking like what was it?
- 1:45:26Speaker 13: Like?
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: Hello, everyone, very busy again today. I apologize him.
- 1:45:34Speaker 8: A little bit later, I got stuck in a Romandre
- 1:45:35Speaker 8: Stevenson scrum that I couldn't manage to get I said, no,
- 1:45:39Speaker 8: I didn't.
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: I couldn't get that close. I was in like a
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: weird contortion position trying to and you know what, it's
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: annoying me, Paul. So we have way too many media
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: now like that.
- 1:45:48Speaker 8: You know this week, there's way too many people in there,
- 1:45:50Speaker 8: and everyone's got to get a question in.
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: It's like how many things can you ask the guy? Like,
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: I mean he's getting ready for the game, like four
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: or five six questions? Great like and then you're like
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: you think you're done doing and then someone else.
- 1:46:01Speaker 6: Asked the question to protect the players.
- 1:46:03Speaker 8: I'm just saying, like, do we need does everyone need
- 1:46:06Speaker 8: to ask a question to like validate their jobs? That
- 1:46:11Speaker 8: is a lot of repeat questions, just you know, like, well,
- 1:46:15Speaker 8: how excited are you for the playoffs?
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: What do you think I could do something?
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Question?
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: You know, what have you seen from the Texans defense?
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: What do you think you guys have to do?
- 1:46:24Speaker 8: Like, you know, there's a handful of questions that are pertinent,
- 1:46:25Speaker 8: and at a certain point, it's like these guys are
- 1:46:27Speaker 8: trying to get ready for practice.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: I've got the.
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: Belayers pushing me out of the way, trying to get.
- 1:46:32Speaker 6: As a media.
- 1:46:33Speaker 7: That's not part of my mindset going in is I know,
- 1:46:36Speaker 7: I know, practice you're talking or you're not talking. You
- 1:46:39Speaker 7: have forty five minutes you gotta be in.
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: But I think that there should be respectful like the
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: question should be questions, and I haven't asked a question yet.
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: How do you feel today?
- 1:46:48Speaker 6: You know, how do you feel? That's not a pest.
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: I mean that's literally not a question.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: One of the questions how are you feeling? Remonderc like
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: so visional round huh anyway, Sorry, that's my brief rant.
- 1:47:00Speaker 6: Happy with the media.
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: No, it was just like we just kept going and
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: of course.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: You're like, you know, you're holding a position.
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: It's tough, and they're like, you have to train for it,
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: you really do, like you need to be doing pilates
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: three times a week in some of the situation.
- 1:47:12Speaker 6: Until we get to Santa Clara. Yeah, I think this
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: is this amount of media is.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Throwing you from a loop.
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: Pul's like, that's cute.
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: Oh yeah, when you get to that day where it's
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: like the whole room is, you know, each player has
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: his own table and they just sit there.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: The number of questions I get asked over and over.
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: Sorry, if you sorry, if you've already asked this, we'll
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: get over there earlier. If you got to ask this question, like, well.
- 1:47:34Speaker 6: I'll explain it to you. Uncle Paul will hold court.
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: I'll tell you how.
- 1:47:39Speaker 7: They're all in the room for a certain amount of time,
- 1:47:41Speaker 7: all at the same time. They can't leave, So it's
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: not like, oh, remindre talked as soon as the locker
- 1:47:47Speaker 7: room opened, but Digs didn't get there until the locker
- 1:47:49Speaker 7: room clothes. You had a chance to get both of them.
- 1:47:52Speaker 7: So you have to go to remindres In.
- 1:47:55Speaker 6: Now you're going to go to Digs.
- 1:47:56Speaker 7: Well, someone else already went to Digs, so inevitably you
- 1:47:58Speaker 7: are going to ask him the questions are he answered.
- 1:48:00Speaker 7: And that's why a lot of times people say, I'm sorry,
- 1:48:02Speaker 7: you probably answered this, but I have to ask you.
- 1:48:05Speaker 7: It's not like he screwed up.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: By not getting you know, what they should have at
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: each station. They should have a screen, a touch screen
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: that in AI, it immediately transcribes every question, so before
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: you ask, you can scroll and see if your question
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: was asked.
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: For you to get your quote downloaded, type in your email,
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: it'll send you the whole transcript.
- 1:48:24Speaker 7: That would really that would really send Mike over the
- 1:48:27Speaker 7: edge because then the TV guys would still have to
- 1:48:31Speaker 7: ask it because they need.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: Him on their camera.
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: Camera.
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so anyway, real quick, just VI camera.
- 1:48:39Speaker 8: Uh but just to run down and talk to Kishan Boody,
- 1:48:42Speaker 8: you know, talked a little bit about their corners, how
- 1:48:44Speaker 8: physical they are.
- 1:48:44Speaker 6: He said he likes it, tabbed him as the X factor.
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: I did, and he didn't get.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:48:52Speaker 6: I've never spoken to Kasha.
- 1:48:55Speaker 4: Excited to excited to get back out there.
- 1:48:58Speaker 8: Jalen Hawkins. You know, he asked about Nico Collins not
- 1:49:01Speaker 8: playing any highlighted. I love when they talk about just
- 1:49:03Speaker 8: their numbers because they've been oh well, I mean.
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: I still got twenty one and fourteen, yeah, rattling off those.
- 1:49:09Speaker 8: So but otherwise that good energy again in locker room
- 1:49:12Speaker 8: today and uh yeah, I had to rain it in
- 1:49:14Speaker 8: a little bit though some people that weren't here yesterday.
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: Trying to go back to Will Campbell trying to you know,
- 1:49:18Speaker 8: and also Gonzales. Still you know, nobody could talk to him.
- 1:49:20Speaker 8: He's off limits, is okay?
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: Good?
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: So there you go, all right, Ion, Evan, I Evan, man,
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: it was talk because I was buried. You know, I'm
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: going to ask the questions now, but I don't watch
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: him and then report back to you.
- 1:49:33Speaker 8: But a lot of times I just walked by him
- 1:49:34Speaker 8: and he's just you know, kind of like scoping. Actually,
- 1:49:36Speaker 8: I do have one piece of I on Evan. Now
- 1:49:38Speaker 8: you're just talking to Morgan, Moses. That was one that
- 1:49:40Speaker 8: that you are going to be maybe getting some intel
- 1:49:42Speaker 8: on those paths, Morgan, What are you seeing from them?
- 1:49:46Speaker 11: So?
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, Thursday, all right, it's that time of the week.
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: We've got four games to pick. But before we do that,
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: how did we do last week?
- 1:49:57Speaker 7: So really impressive week for Fred, but everybody, Mike, Alex, Evan,
- 1:50:04Speaker 7: Fred five and one overall, Paul four and two.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: What was the difference?
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: What's the game?
- 1:50:11Speaker 6: I picked?
- 1:50:12Speaker 7: I believe Billy Jacksonville. I picked Jacksonville and Philly those Ville.
- 1:50:18Speaker 7: So maybe you guys had San Francisco Jacksonville.
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: I think we all had Jacksonville.
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: With a spread.
- 1:50:26Speaker 7: Mike, Alex Evan Paul all four and two from fields
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: six and oh wow five and one overall six.
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: And oh with this fread.
- 1:50:37Speaker 8: I'm glad I'm not as good as him, because then
- 1:50:39Speaker 8: I'd be like thinking, I'm just leaving money left.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: That's too tempting.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: Forget it, forget it.
- 1:50:47Speaker 7: Yeah, So I was an impressive week Freddy Card Weekend
- 1:50:50Speaker 7: six and it's the play and it's not like everything
- 1:50:52Speaker 7: went according to Hoyle. You know, you got six seeds advancing,
- 1:50:56Speaker 7: five seeds advancing. It is funny that both both since
- 1:51:00Speaker 7: it's one, two, five, six, Yeah.
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: A lot or stupid three and four.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: So all right, let's get into it because we gotta hurry.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Saturday at four point thirty on CBS, it's the Bills
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: at twelve and five. Do records really matter at this point? Though?
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Against the Broncos at fourteen and three.
- 1:51:19Speaker 6: Everyone's want to know Broncos by one and a half.
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: I'm excited to watch this game. I think I'm making
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: a plan.
- 1:51:25Speaker 8: Maybe perhaps go to a bar, maybe a haouse, something,
- 1:51:29Speaker 8: go to Yeah, how about you come up to there.
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: I'm want to come drive up to the four.
- 1:51:33Speaker 8: I just I'm torn on this game because I just
- 1:51:36Speaker 8: I respect Josh Allen and what he did last week
- 1:51:38Speaker 8: and continues to do every week, where he's just leaving
- 1:51:40Speaker 8: it out on the field, and I think last week
- 1:51:42Speaker 8: I made the mistake of saying I don't think he
- 1:51:44Speaker 8: can do it anymore.
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Jacksonville. I'm not going to do that
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: this week.
- 1:51:46Speaker 8: I'm going to say it's a Buffalo win on the road,
- 1:51:49Speaker 8: and the Patriots will go into Sunday with a chance
- 1:51:51Speaker 8: if they win, to host an AFC championship.
- 1:51:57Speaker 6: Here's where the long pauses come.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: This a lot of thought.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: This is the only one I really just brain. Isn't
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: a pretzel.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: I really just thinking about Okay.
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: Real quick, you said the reason I'm not spending I'm
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: You said I put too much thought into my outfits,
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: and that's why I'm not buying new ones anymore. It's
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: that I'm spending too much money. I put no thoughts
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: into the outfits. They come to me. I don't have
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: enough money to keep buying clothes anyways.
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: Bills, bills, it might be snowing to you should probably
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: wear boots and then.
- 1:52:33Speaker 23: I'm gonna wear my ski out. But you guys are
- 1:52:38Speaker 23: ripping on me in the game show last week number here.
- 1:52:41Speaker 23: You know, you get ripped on my outfits the only
- 1:52:44Speaker 23: fans thing.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: What happened? By the way, what's up this guyation to you?
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: It's not necessarily the billionaire founder of one of the
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: most successful private companies in history is a fan of
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: our show. Yeah, but to say he loves Unfiltered and
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: he's a Pots fan.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: Why why not me?
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: Maybe I'm I don't know.
- 1:53:10Speaker 6: You know, he feels.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: It's been nothing but respectful.
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: You know, your outfits there people will buy.
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: He's very intrigued by this one. We call no socks.
- 1:53:23Speaker 7: Wait till there, Wait till the preseason when it's really hot,
- 1:53:27Speaker 7: and then you can sell your your clothes, sweaty your DNA.
- 1:53:30Speaker 6: You'll make double You'll make double.
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: L Hey, if my dad didn't love me very much,
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: I'd already go down that road.
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: One of those training camps rolling in.
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: You guys would be like, Okay, the money is lucrative.
- 1:53:42Speaker 6: So I'm going to be on an island, I think,
- 1:53:44Speaker 6: and I'm going to take Denver.
- 1:53:47Speaker 7: I have tons of respect, as you guys all know,
- 1:53:50Speaker 7: for Josh Allen, I think this is asking too much.
- 1:53:53Speaker 6: I think the guys beat the crap.
- 1:53:55Speaker 7: They were about a quarter and a half into that
- 1:53:57Speaker 7: game on Sunday and he just was dealing with four
- 1:54:00Speaker 7: or five different things. It's only going to get worse
- 1:54:02Speaker 7: in Denver. I think the Broncos have enough to get by, Paul.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: You are not on an island. I'm with you.
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: I don't think what Josh is been doing is sustainable.
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: And you know, I think you go to Denver. I
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: think they do have a good defense. It's not as
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: great as I think Houston's is. It's not, but I
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: think at home they're good enough, and I think they'll
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: beat the crap out of Josh Allen again.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: And I just don't think it's sustainable. So I like
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: the Broncos to win this game.
- 1:54:33Speaker 7: I am rooting for Buffalo, though it'd be nice to
- 1:54:35Speaker 7: have another AFC Championship game at home.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: That'd be cool.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: That's yeah, I mean, it's not going to happen. Yeah,
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: I don't want to.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: I want the Bills to win, but Broncos are going
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: to win this game. So if we win, which I
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: think we will, we're going to be going to Denver
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: all right, Saturday night at eight o'clock on Fox. It's
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: the forty nine Ers traveling to Seattle. Seattle by Evan Really, yeah,
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: I think that's good. I think I think the Seahawks
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: have earned that.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: I really do.
- 1:55:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:55:08Speaker 8: Yeah, but I'm gonna take the Seahawks to win. But
- 1:55:10Speaker 8: I'm gonna take those points for the lar. I just
- 1:55:13Speaker 8: that seems really close to me. They're playing San Francisco.
- 1:55:16Speaker 8: Oh sorry, sorry, did we give you two wins?
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: If you got I don't print my sheet. I'm writing
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: it down, and I wrote it wrong, and therefore I
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: made the wrong decision that.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: You use has to be updated. It's not good.
- 1:55:31Speaker 8: That's what I was trying to do. I'm trying to
- 1:55:32Speaker 8: trying to I'm trying to freestyle it here, and I
- 1:55:34Speaker 8: messed it up. So in that case, San Francisco, I'm
- 1:55:37Speaker 8: still gonna do it though. I mean that the points
- 1:55:39Speaker 8: stands Division game playoff. I think even though they're banged up,
- 1:55:43Speaker 8: San Francisco will, We'll give them a game.
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: But I like Seattle to win.
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: I like Seattle to win. I like San Francisco to cover.
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: Maybe it's because bias of how their game just played
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: out the other week, but just too many injuries for
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: San Francisco.
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: That's why I'm waiting to Seattle too.
- 1:55:59Speaker 7: Is the the commendable what they've done that we just
- 1:56:02Speaker 7: saw Seattle really manhandled them. I got to be honest, though,
- 1:56:07Speaker 7: I don't. I don't trust Sam Donald in this spot.
- 1:56:10Speaker 7: I'm going to take the Seahawks to win the game.
- 1:56:12Speaker 7: I'll take the points. I think San Francisco easily could
- 1:56:15Speaker 7: win this game.
- 1:56:16Speaker 6: Out right, I'm not going to take it. I'm a chicken. Yeah,
- 1:56:20Speaker 6: I'm scared.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Sam donald factor is real. But I am going to
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: take the Seahawks both ways. I think they win and
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: I think they cover. I think, uh, the league may
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: not want it, but Seahawks will be in the super Bowl.
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: Actually I shouldn't say that.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: I don't. I'm going to go back on that. They're
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: not going to be in the super Bowl.
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: What what?
- 1:56:45Speaker 6: What the league here?
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: I don't know they're going to get there.
- 1:56:48Speaker 6: Whatever I was going to say, they're gonna tell us
- 1:56:50Speaker 6: that it's a record anyway, right.
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: All right, now, we're going to skip over the Patriots
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: on Sunday and we're gonna go to six thirty on Sunday.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: Probably we'll start a little later than that, but it's
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: the Rams at Chicago.
- 1:57:03Speaker 6: Rams by three and a half.
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: No respect for the Bears, none, Bears none. Yeah, I'm
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: gonna take the Lar and I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:57:14Speaker 8: I just I think Caleb William's very good, but he's
- 1:57:16Speaker 8: gonna need a complete game, and I'm not sure he's
- 1:57:18Speaker 8: got it in him yet.
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: Rams Rams.
- 1:57:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:57:22Speaker 7: I would say if the Bears are going to cover,
- 1:57:25Speaker 7: they're gonna win out right, and I don't think that
- 1:57:28Speaker 7: they will. I think the Rams will have enough. I
- 1:57:32Speaker 7: think Stafford's hand was a big part of that sort
- 1:57:35Speaker 7: of second half malaise that they had. He says it's
- 1:57:39Speaker 7: Stafford's says that his hand is feeling much better.
- 1:57:42Speaker 6: I'll take the Rams.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: The Rams are favored by three, right, three and a half,
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: three and a half. Right, I thought, Yeah, it's the Bears.
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: Bears win this game. Wow? Oh absolutely, yeah.
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: Upset lock of, We've already said it.
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: The destiny is Patriots Bears.
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: A super Bowl. Oh is that why you just walked
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: back Seattle?
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Yeah? Right, I forgot about my destiny now.
- 1:58:01Speaker 8: Yeah, I'd be pretty excited about that Bears. I was
- 1:58:03Speaker 8: just talking to a Bear's low key stink.
- 1:58:06Speaker 7: They played well in defense, play and they look like
- 1:58:09Speaker 7: they'd never played defense before.
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: He poss low key exactly.
- 1:58:15Speaker 6: I'll say that they just can't. They're not any good.
- 1:58:17Speaker 7: I mean, they're in the divisional round and they've won
- 1:58:18Speaker 7: a lot of games, and I think Kayla Williams is terrific,
- 1:58:20Speaker 7: and when the games are.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: On the line, perfect usage of the phrase.
- 1:58:23Speaker 6: Low key, they stink.
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:58:26Speaker 7: My grandfather was my grandfather would just taking the cigar
- 1:58:28Speaker 7: out of his belt and said, all.
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: Right, now we go back to Sunday at three, it's
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: the Texans at the Patriots.
- 1:58:38Speaker 7: So the most recent thing now is Patriots by three. Okay,
- 1:58:42Speaker 7: this morning, I'm telling you, when I let out my sheet,
- 1:58:45Speaker 7: it was three and a.
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: Hal let's go with three and a hay, so there's
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: no push.
- 1:58:48Speaker 6: Okay, let's make up a spread so there's no push.
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: Three and a hey.
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I believe the Patriots will win this one.
- 1:58:55Speaker 8: I think they're gonna get maybe a defensive score, maybe
- 1:58:58Speaker 8: a punt return score, maybe a kickoff return, like into
- 1:59:01Speaker 8: their territory kind of thing, like one of those.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: Players that in the playoffs.
- 1:59:04Speaker 8: Yeah, sets it up a little bit, helps Drake May
- 1:59:07Speaker 8: and the offense put some points on the board, they
- 1:59:09Speaker 8: stay ahead through the game, kind of keep their defense
- 1:59:12Speaker 8: from from making game changing plays. I'm gonna stick with
- 1:59:14Speaker 8: what I said on Monday. Patriots twenty three Texan seventeen.
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: Patriots twenty four Texan seventeen. I think that's what I
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: had Monday too.
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: Do you really think they're gonna have one more point?
- 1:59:29Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:59:29Speaker 7: I see it very similar to everybody. I'm gonna say
- 1:59:34Speaker 7: twenty three twenty.
- 1:59:36Speaker 6: They could be a.
- 1:59:38Speaker 7: Real defensive minded game. And I just think I'm going
- 1:59:42Speaker 7: with Drake May. I think he'll make more plays because
- 1:59:44Speaker 7: he's a better player than c. J. Stroud, And if
- 1:59:46Speaker 7: it has to come down to the quarterbacks, which it
- 1:59:48Speaker 7: often does, there's no comparison.
- 1:59:51Speaker 11: To me.
- 1:59:51Speaker 6: I have to take Drake May.
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: I think the Patriots are the better team and it
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: just comes down to who executes. You know, stage gets
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: bigger every time. It's the first time for Drake May.
- 2:00:03Speaker 3: But I don't think Stroud is that playoff hardened yet either.
- 2:00:08Speaker 3: I like the Patriots twenty seven to win this game.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: So Houston doesn't have the offensive offensive game like they
- 2:00:17Speaker 3: had last week, but they'll play better. It'll be a
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: cleaner game for them. I agree with you dudes, there
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: might be some special team, some defensive score, something that's
- 2:00:29Speaker 3: out of the you know, not just straight offensive points.
- 2:00:32Speaker 3: But I like the Patriots twenty seven to twenty and
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: we're on our way to Denver to play the Bronz.
- 2:00:38Speaker 4: Of course, of course they're playing there, right And that's.
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: The other thing, because it doesn't matter even like somehow
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: they were going to get Denver playing in the.
- 2:00:50Speaker 8: IED. I just want a video friend walking into the
- 2:00:52Speaker 8: stadium looking around and be like, you know, of course, yeah,
- 2:00:58Speaker 8: we have to.
- 2:00:59Speaker 6: Play here every year twice.
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: I like the city of Denver. It's a fun city.
- 2:01:03Speaker 3: Larimer Street or whatever that street is, it's a nice
- 2:01:06Speaker 3: little poor man's Newberry Street like that.
- 2:01:11Speaker 4: I love this normal man's Newberry Street if.
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: You can walk over the homeless people.
- 2:01:17Speaker 6: All right, way do we get to the super Bowl
- 2:01:20Speaker 6: for that? Yeah?
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: All right, Well that's gonna be it. Pregame show starts
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: at on Sunday. It'll be a big one.
- 2:01:31Speaker 3: And then of course right after the show, the postgame show.
- 2:01:34Speaker 3: We're gonna do this, folks, We're gonna do it. Don't worry,
- 2:01:37Speaker 3: we're gonna do it. We'll see you next Tuesday.
