- 1:06Welcome back to the show, everybody.
- 1:07Thank you so much for tuning in this week or whenever you're
- 1:10catching this episode and wherever you may be happening to
- 1:14catch it, whether it's on the audio platforms of your choice
- 1:18or here on Patreon for the video version, do appreciate all of
- 1:22your support in whatever way that you're able to provide it.
- 1:25Just as a reminder, the greatest way to support this show is by
- 1:28becoming a Carl tier patron on Patreon.
- 1:31It is just a $1.00 pledge. You get access to the videos
- 1:34version versions of this show in full.
- 1:37You get to see who I'm with. If with anybody, you get a
- 1:41little end screen credit with the with your name in, in, in
- 1:45the end screen credits there. And yeah, you, you, you still
- 1:49get the same, you know, podcast experience with, with the added
- 1:55bonus of the visuals and some recognition.
- 1:57And for just that $1.00 pledge at the Carl tier, it helps with
- 2:01the production cost of the show. So if you're ever wondering, you
- 2:04know, what can I do if I want to help out?
- 2:06Just join at the Carl tier. That $1.00 pledge is more than
- 2:09enough. But if you're still not into
- 2:12that and you don't want to, it's no problem.
- 2:13Thank you for listening. Thank you for sharing these
- 2:16episodes around in your communities.
- 2:19Just helping spread the word and helping the podcast grow is a
- 2:22gift in and of itself. So thank you for all of that.
- 2:25And also, since we're talking about, you know, support and
- 2:27links and all of this stuff, if you are new to the show, you'll
- 2:31know that I have a link tree link that has all of the
- 2:34information on my social medias. All of that stuff is there.
- 2:38And then for this time, or for the time being, at least for for
- 2:42the foreseeable future, when you go to my link tree, you'll see
- 2:45at the very top of that a link to a GoFundMe campaign for my
- 2:48mother-in-law. She is an elderly woman in her
- 2:5180s and is needing some things to help with her getting in and
- 2:57around the house. And you know, the, the family
- 2:59is, is, is trying to get all those things put in, but
- 3:02recouping on that financial expense.
- 3:06Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- 3:08So if you want to donate to my mother-in-law, the GoFundMe link
- 3:11is, is at the very top of my Linktree link when you visit it.
- 3:14So thank you for that as well. All right, so now that we got
- 3:19all that stuff out of the way, I do just want to make a quick,
- 3:22quick announcement. If you're listening to this on
- 3:25the when does this air here, 17th of July.
- 3:31So if you're catching this on the day that it airs or before
- 3:34the 24th, before that, the following weekend in July 2025
- 3:38here I will be in the state of New York for just a few days,
- 3:42really 2 full days and a night. I will be in New York from the
- 3:49end of the 24th of July until leaving the morning of the 27th.
- 3:56So where I'm going to in New York, and I know that doesn't
- 3:58really, you know, nail things down, but I'm going to the lower
- 4:02Hudson Valley area, you know, Orange County, the lower
- 4:07foothills of the caskills there. So if you're listening to this
- 4:11or you're catching this and you're in the area and you want
- 4:15to try to link up or or say hi or, you know, whatever, let me
- 4:19know. I do have limited time while I'm
- 4:21going to be there because I'm going to visit my sister and
- 4:25reconnect with her after both of our parents have, you know,
- 4:28passed over the last couple of years, few years.
- 4:31Get some things that, you know, some personal effects of my
- 4:34parents that she set aside for me and just visit.
- 4:38So it's it's it's going to be a short trip, but it's a long
- 4:40drive from here to here in Tennessee up to it's up to New
- 4:44York. It's about a little over a 13
- 4:46hour drive. So I'll be in the area if you
- 4:49are too. You want to say hi, you know,
- 4:53let me know see what we can work out.
- 4:56All right, so for the episode this week, I always like when
- 5:02folks that listen or watch this show reach out to me and throw a
- 5:08topic of, you know, a suggestion or something out here.
- 5:15Which by the way, if you want to ever, you know, suggested an
- 5:19episode topic, you can do that by just
- 5:21emailingmemidgardmusingstn@gmail.com. You don't want to get through
- 5:27the e-mail messaging me on my either the the Midgard Musings
- 5:31Facebook page or Instagram is another way to get a hold of me.
- 5:36If you have a voice that you want to leave, you know, call
- 5:38the Mid Guard Musings podcast hotline and leave a voicemail
- 5:42with your thoughts about something.
- 5:44These are all ways that you can do it.
- 5:45And the number for the hotline is 615-671-9832.
- 5:53So any which way that you decide that you want to, you know,
- 5:56share your thoughts or leave a topic of suggestion, that's
- 6:00that's perfectly fine. So this one came this week from
- 6:05a fellow who's been on the show multiple times.
- 6:08His name is Blake Russell and he is the musical master behind the
- 6:13project Skaldic Works. So if you're looking to check
- 6:16him out on his socials, I believe he's on Facebook and
- 6:19Instagram as well and probably isn't as a YouTube channel.
- 6:22But he plays like the toggle harp and drums and he's in the
- 6:25northern northern Alabama area of of the United States.
- 6:34But he he has been on the show multiple times and he he quite
- 6:38often throws some pretty good ideas of for topics out my way,
- 6:44and so this one came from him. So thank you Blake, for reaching
- 6:47out and suggesting this. But he wrote in and he says,
- 6:52does ill weird that one generates carry over to
- 6:57everything they do henceforth or is weird based on the intention
- 7:03that is granted in that moment? That was the subject of his
- 7:06e-mail. So it was a pretty pretty
- 7:08detailed subject line. And then in the body of the
- 7:13e-mail course, he says, hey, Jesse, not sure if I already
- 7:16asked this or if it's been if it's been covered in a pod
- 7:22previous podcast episode, he says.
- 7:26But I was wondering if the weird that one generates carries over
- 7:30to everything they do or make, every place they enter and
- 7:36everyone or group they interact with.
- 7:41Or is it mostly based on what is generated in that moment?
- 7:47For instance, if someone who made something for you did
- 7:53something to generate bad weird in the past, does the thing they
- 8:01have created carry that same bad weird or is it mostly based on
- 8:07the intent put into the object created?
- 8:11If someone has done bad deeds and enters a space, will the
- 8:17luck that they have generated from that deed carry into the
- 8:23room despite it being done in the past?
- 8:29And I think that's a pretty well well said, well stated thing.
- 8:35And I think that it's a great topic to to cover today.
- 8:40So thank you, Blake, for giving us this this subject matter.
- 8:46So as always, you know, folks, if you're not sure what we're
- 8:49talking about, this is what we're talking about.
- 8:50When I said weird multiple times, I don't mean weird in the
- 8:54modern English word of something that is strange or peculiar or
- 9:02odd. I mean the weird that we're
- 9:04talking about here is the word WYRD.
- 9:08And it's an Old Norse word that that generates, I believe, from
- 9:12this Anglo-Saxon name that that kind of says something along the
- 9:16lines of fate, but it's not it that it doesn't necessarily mean
- 9:20like the fate as in like the Greek fates.
- 9:23You know, weird is a elaborate thing.
- 9:29And it's a very complex concept. And it's probably best defined
- 9:34as in the in the form of a tapestry with multiple threads
- 9:40being woven into the fabric, you know, multiple threads being
- 9:44woven into the tapestry to make up what it is.
- 9:48So in addition to that, there is individual weird that is tied
- 9:55by, by, by every one person. So every there is, there is
- 9:59shared weird. There is the weird that is, you
- 10:01know, that, that that cosmic tapestry where we're all kind of
- 10:06having our own influence to, to, to add to that, you know, where
- 10:12the things that we're doing is being, becoming part of that.
- 10:15But then there's there's very specific threads that that, that
- 10:19when we interact and when we intertwine lives with other with
- 10:23others, those individual threads now become interwoven.
- 10:30And the the the tapestry is, is is create more, there's more
- 10:36elaborate things being done to the tapestry.
- 10:40So you know, you have your individual weird, you have your
- 10:42family weird, you have the larger picture weird these,
- 10:47these various tapestries and they're all interconnected.
- 10:49Everything is, is is ultimately interconnected to this great
- 10:53cosmic tapestry. According to the, the, the, the
- 10:57beliefs that we're talking about here in Indian in North
- 11:01Heathenry, I believe that the continental dramatic pagans had
- 11:06had a closer example of this as, as something more like a well
- 11:14and that the, the, the, the ones who shaped things in, in our
- 11:19lives. Where were the shapers?
- 11:20The, the, the, the, the Norse had the Nornier.
- 11:23You know, there you'll be here in the, in the myths about the
- 11:26Nordnier and then in the continental, you know, the
- 11:30Saxon, specifically Saxon heathens and those continental
- 11:34heathens there they had the shapers.
- 11:41So what, I guess, you know, So what Blake is, is, is, is trying
- 11:45to understand or, or ask about is, does the, the, the ill
- 11:48weird, does the bad things that people are doing, 'cause let's,
- 11:52let's break it down, you know, so weird again, this, this
- 11:54tapestry and then and what are we talking about?
- 11:56We're talking about everything that, that is making up this,
- 11:59this elaborate, you know, tapestry.
- 12:05What's making that up? Our deeds, our words, our works.
- 12:10And they are the, the actions, you know, so weird is what it
- 12:17is. And it's, it's nothing
- 12:19inherently good or bad, But there are things, there are
- 12:23actions that can be done by individuals when, when in, when
- 12:29they, when, when they're, when things are becoming intertwined
- 12:32that can either strengthen the, the luck right strength,
- 12:36strengthen those, those threads, or they can do there, there are
- 12:40things that can damage them, you know, so it's either doing
- 12:45something to strengthen the web of weird or damage it.
- 12:55So I see this mostly happening with our, our relationship with
- 13:01people, not so much in, in like objects, you know.
- 13:04So like, for example, one of the things that he was asking was,
- 13:09you know, if someone who made something for you did something
- 13:12bad, you know, or did something to, to, to, to cause I'll, does
- 13:18that energy does that bad, weird, that bad energy does that
- 13:22go, does it transfer into the object?
- 13:26And then now is something that somebody did carried into an
- 13:32object and now that you possess the object, you're as a result,
- 13:36impacted or affected by that bad weird or that I'll, I'll weird.
- 13:43I don't think that that's how the concept is understood or was
- 13:47ever understood. It would be different if the
- 13:53the, the, the if, if the works that were being done for the
- 13:57object, you know, let's say a magical sigil or, you know,
- 14:02something that was intended to bring it forth certain results
- 14:10magically or or whatever. That'd be one thing.
- 14:15But I don't, I don't think that it was ever understood that
- 14:18like, OK, well, if you know, if you know, if, if, if Bjorn, you
- 14:26know, killed his, his his brother Sven and then gave
- 14:34something to his neighbor that was a was a, you know, a gift
- 14:40that the, the murder, the, the the D, the kinslang that Bjorn
- 14:45executed upon Sven, that I'll D does not carry in forth into an
- 14:52object that is gifted. So the person receiving that,
- 14:57the neighbor receiving that gift from Bjorn would not be impacted
- 15:02by Bjorn's I'll luck or or you know, the the the things that he
- 15:07did that that damaged or tarnished the threads of weird
- 15:11in that family. Now, if it was a you know, now
- 15:16that the difference that in that would be that if if Bjorn and
- 15:24the neighbor somehow became closer as a result of this kin
- 15:31slaying, maybe, you know, maybe the neighbor had something out
- 15:36for Sven, you know, and and and and wanted Buren to do it.
- 15:41And you know, Buren hated Sven anyway, so it was easy for him
- 15:44to do it. And you know, the neighbor
- 15:46didn't want the the the outlawry status or the bad luck to fall
- 15:51on him from doing the kin's fling.
- 15:53So he he's like we're doing the killing.
- 15:55So he's just had let let Buren do it.
- 15:56And Buren didn't care about his honor.
- 15:59You know, if, if that relationship between those two
- 16:03people that that is, that is definitely intertwining threads
- 16:08of, of weird. And that's I'll weird.
- 16:12That's that's a bad relationship.
- 16:14That, that, that is something that can really tarnish a
- 16:17family's luck. It can tarnish an individual's
- 16:21luck for sure. Because now Bjorn is, is, you
- 16:23know, a kinslayer and he's, you know, he's broken the law.
- 16:28And so he's now he would be considered outlaw, you know, if
- 16:31if it was, I'm just, I'm, I'm creating hypothetical situations
- 16:34here, right. So we're just, we'll just just
- 16:36humor me and we'll just go with it.
- 16:40And now because of that, you know, now that they've entered
- 16:42into this relationship together, they're they're somehow tied
- 16:45together through through these deeds that I'll deed that, that,
- 16:52you know, being associated with something like that, having that
- 16:55reputation is, is not going to be good.
- 16:58It's not going to feed the well with good things.
- 17:02It's going to tarnish the, the, the weaving of, of things.
- 17:06You know, it's going to create a, a rough patch in the fabric.
- 17:15So there's a difference in the ways that I understand it.
- 17:18You know, it's, it's like, so let's, you know, if, if you
- 17:21know, we want to look at, let's say a source material about
- 17:23something. Let's look at the saga of, you
- 17:25know, Egil Scala Grimson was the one thing that comes to mind.
- 17:28And that is with that one part or that one, that one part in
- 17:31the in the poem or in the saga, I should say, where, you know,
- 17:36somebody had painted runes on, on whalebone and they didn't
- 17:40know what they were doing. And they and it created a
- 17:43sickness upon someone you know, And and that sickness was as a
- 17:50result of the runes that were painted on this piece of
- 17:53whalebone were the wrong runes for the spell or for the charm
- 17:57or for the thing that they were trying to to invoke or to to
- 18:00incite an egg yield being the rune master had to undo it.
- 18:05He had to undo that and, and put the right runes on this on this
- 18:11piece of will bone in order for the for the person to to regain
- 18:17their health. So, like there are definitely
- 18:22things that can be either purposefully or in
- 18:26unintentionally done to mess with things, you know, and and
- 18:31to bring forth, you know, bring bring disturbance, bring
- 18:34sickness, bring, you know, I'll locker or whatever.
- 18:38And then to damage those, those fabrics of, of, of the tapestry
- 18:44and whether by purpose, design, or whether through unintentional
- 18:51actions, like an example of, you know, an egg gills saga, you're
- 18:57not just stuck with that problem.
- 19:00You're not just doomed to have this issue or this problem
- 19:06forever or, or, you know, for it to carry on.
- 19:09It can be undone. You know, things can be fixed.
- 19:12The repairs can be made and it is usually obviously, you know,
- 19:17the opposite of the thing that it was, you know, so in Eagle's
- 19:19case, you know, he had to clean the, the, you know, wipe the,
- 19:25you know, the, the, the runes away or, or sand them away or
- 19:28scrape them away and then re apply them a different way or
- 19:32just do the whole thing differently.
- 19:34You know, so the opposite of what it was initially done.
- 19:39And so like objects, you know, things that a person did in
- 19:49their life to harm somebody else or to do something that was of a
- 19:53of a I'll nature. You know, if they give you a
- 19:56gift, if they make something for you, does their luck transfer
- 19:59into that gift? No, I don't think that that's
- 20:01that's how it was ever understood to work.
- 20:06You know that it wasn't like you know, now I have seen.
- 20:10You know, and experience my own personal UPG on things.
- 20:13I have seen cases where I used to have my wife and I, we used
- 20:21to have a, for a short period of time, we had a, a roommate who
- 20:25lived with us. They were in a kind of a tough
- 20:31spot in their life and they needed some, you know, they
- 20:35needed a, they needed to reset themselves.
- 20:37They needed to repair their own weird, I guess would be one way
- 20:44of looking at it. And they weren't here, they
- 20:51weren't living with us for very long, but they, they, they
- 20:57exhibited behavior that was very unbecoming of a guest, of a, of
- 21:04a roommate. They caused physical damage to
- 21:08our house, like they, they put a hole in the wall and just
- 21:11anything. So anyway, they were, they were
- 21:13told to leave, you know, and they were told to get out, find,
- 21:18find your own way. Now, now before that had
- 21:23happened, they had obviously, you know, we, we, we felt
- 21:30comfortable enough with them to let them live with us.
- 21:34And before all of this happened that I just described, they had
- 21:38helped us with like tilling up our garden and planting some
- 21:44crops like tomatoes and cucumbers and okra and various
- 21:48things. And after all of those things
- 21:51were done, like after we finished with the, the tilling
- 21:54of the ground and the planting of the, of the crops, you know,
- 21:58we all kind of had this little, almost like a, you know,
- 22:03charming of the plow or, you know, a, a little ceremony,
- 22:06little ritual to, to gift to the land in a way.
- 22:09And, and we all buried something near that garden as a gift.
- 22:18And the thing that they buried was a knife.
- 22:23And we never, you know, thought anything of, of that, the, the
- 22:27nature of it, you know, we never thought anything of it at the
- 22:29time. This is years ago too, by the
- 22:32way. So, you know, never thought
- 22:34anything that that burying such an item could be, could, could
- 22:38maybe bring I'll, but it was, it was not too, too, too far after
- 22:46this situation. It was like within a few weeks
- 22:50of, of getting the garden set up and everything that they were
- 22:54asked to leave or told to leave the house at because they were,
- 22:57you know, they were, they were unbecoming.
- 22:59They were behaving in a way that was not becoming of, of, of a
- 23:01good guest. And we didn't want that around
- 23:04us. And we got to like my wife and
- 23:06I, we got to remembering what was buried back there and we go
- 23:11get that thing out of the ground, get it out, throw it
- 23:14away. And it was, it was, you know, it
- 23:21was interesting because like we were, we were noticing that the
- 23:26garden wasn't starting off that well, you know, it wasn't
- 23:29starting off growing very good. And once that once the blade was
- 23:32removed from the earth and disposed of, things started to
- 23:37get back to normal. So it was interesting, you know,
- 23:41like the, the, the ill deed or or whatever that the person, I
- 23:43don't know, I don't know how or why that, that if it, if it had
- 23:47anything to do with, with the result of the garden growing
- 23:51better or not, could just be that the fact that this is a
- 23:53blade, this is a night, This isn't, this is not a, you know,
- 23:57the gardening tool. It's not an organic thing that
- 24:01that could feed the earth, you know, and, and maybe just that
- 24:04energy alone was what, how the earth was responding and how the
- 24:07spirits of the land were responding to it.
- 24:10That it was a, you know, a bladed object meant to cut and
- 24:12to sever instead of to, to cultivate.
- 24:18That could be probably more, you know, what was happening there,
- 24:23But it is interesting to, to take note of a situation that I
- 24:26personally had experienced where an item that was once the
- 24:33possession of somebody was a part of, of a reason why things
- 24:41weren't, you know, the things, things weren't acting right.
- 24:46Things weren't acting well, things weren't growing.
- 24:48Things weren't, you know, healthy, you know, and, and
- 24:55again, the, the, the, the act of, of what caused this person
- 24:58to be told to leave or evicted, you know, that hadn't happened
- 25:02yet. It's not like they did something
- 25:05to damage our home and then we went and did this thing and, and
- 25:08that was what was kind of absorbed into that blade.
- 25:11Like, no, it was, it was either the blade itself or it was
- 25:14something else that we didn't know about beforehand.
- 25:16So I don't know, I can't, is it, these are one of those things
- 25:18that you, I don't, you know, you can't definitively say for sure.
- 25:22But if you're of the heart and of the mind to believe in that,
- 25:27know that the thing that you, you know, if that's what you're
- 25:30going to believe that you're, you're not necessarily stuck
- 25:33with that it can be undone. That, that, that, that, that
- 25:38work can be reversed or erased and started clean again.
- 25:45You know, now, I think that when it comes to our deeds and when
- 25:53it comes to our actions, that is the thing that leaves a more
- 25:58lasting impression. That is the thing that transfers
- 26:01through not just our luck, you know, not just the luck of an
- 26:04individual, but the luck of a family.
- 26:07It is it is it is what is inherited through the family
- 26:14line through that family is weird and family can be you know
- 26:22that who those who are blood. Can you know, those who are
- 26:27members of a family through DNA, through, through biological
- 26:31means, or they can be the, the forms of family in the, in the
- 26:37way that family is formed through other activities like
- 26:42marriages, adoptions, fostering oaths.
- 26:47You know, there's so many different ways that in, in
- 26:51Heathenry especially that a kinship is, is, is formed.
- 26:55It's not just, you know, so and so begat so and so.
- 26:59And then that's our family. Their family is, is, is forged
- 27:03and kins, kinships are forged in, through many different ways.
- 27:09So I do think that in, in, it's in that context that the deeds
- 27:15of people, good and bad things that have either done well for
- 27:21the, for the web and that have been strong threads to be woven
- 27:27into the tapestry or damaged ones, things that have caused
- 27:31the, the, the, the threads to fray and the tapestry to rot.
- 27:36You know, I think those are things that are very much
- 27:42manifest in existence and they, and they do transfer.
- 27:48They do exist outside and through more than just the, the
- 27:54moment in which the thing happened.
- 27:59It's why I believe that some people have it going seemingly
- 28:06worse for them all the time or most of the time, you know, when
- 28:11you encounter people who are they can't get their shit
- 28:16together. They're always complaining about
- 28:19something. Everything is always a woe is
- 28:21me. There's this problem I can't fix
- 28:25right? That there's always a problem is
- 28:26always something that that they're just that it's like they
- 28:28they're they're cursed in a way. And I believe, you know, that
- 28:37that is the result of that, that weird that I'll deed or those
- 28:41those things that have been ingrained into the fabric of
- 28:45their of their, of their weird and their families weird.
- 28:51The necessary actions to repair that damage haven't happened.
- 28:57They're at a point in their life where they're now receiving the
- 29:02result of, you know, deeds passed on and they have not
- 29:08taken the initiative. They have not taken the
- 29:10responsibility to fix it, to repair it, to do something
- 29:14different, to change it up. You know, I was talking to a a
- 29:21dear friend and brother of mine just last night about things,
- 29:27you know, and, and how, you know, this is the time we are
- 29:29in. We are in those Times Now where
- 29:31it's, it's, it's time to shake things up.
- 29:33It's, it's too much. I'll has, has damaged the web,
- 29:39you know, and this, this, this person who I'm talking about,
- 29:42you know, they're not, they're not even heathen.
- 29:45But the concept of, of what we're talking about today and
- 29:49what we were talking about last night is a concept that you can
- 29:53find, you know, applicable regardless of your faith or your
- 29:58religious views on things. But it's, it's, it's
- 30:02understanding and it's knowing that things aren't going to
- 30:04change by themselves. You know, works and deeds and
- 30:09actions that have been done in the past that have brought us to
- 30:11this place and have brought people to a place where they are
- 30:13now. Is, is, is not going to change
- 30:16just because we've hope for the best.
- 30:18Or we, you know, we dance or we drum or we sing or we, you know,
- 30:23no, it's, it's by undoing certain things, redoing certain
- 30:28things, you know, reversing that, throwing that, you know,
- 30:32that Uno card down and, and reversing it back and then
- 30:34fixing it, you know, doing the necessary work to fix it.
- 30:39We were talking about it in the, in the context of like
- 30:45generational trauma and, and, and family problems and things
- 30:49that come down to us generationally.
- 30:53But I think it can be, I think it can be applied and, and
- 30:57understood in the context of, of a, of a larger scale too, You
- 30:59know, 'cause we're talking about weird and, and weird is, is a,
- 31:04is, is a network. It's, it's, it's a, it's a huge
- 31:07web. It's a tapestry that, you know,
- 31:09one thread here leads to another thread somewhere else that you
- 31:17may not have necessarily intimate knowledge of, you know,
- 31:23but you know, as an example, it's, you know, look at the
- 31:26thing, look at where you are in your life right now.
- 31:29And, and it doesn't matter, OK, Look at where you are in your
- 31:32life right now. Everything that you've done in
- 31:35the past and some things that people have done either for you
- 31:40or with you is the reason why you are where you are right now.
- 31:46It's why you're feeling the what you're feeling.
- 31:47It's why you're experiencing what you're experiencing.
- 31:49This is because those threads have been woven and it has now
- 31:55become part of the tapestry of your weird.
- 32:02And for some it might be a beautiful tapestry that they're
- 32:05satisfied with. And it's, it's flourishing and
- 32:07it's, you know, and it, and it continues to flourish for others
- 32:11and with others. And for others, it might not be
- 32:14so much, it might be a little flappy, you know what I mean?
- 32:17It might be tarnished, it might be damaged.
- 32:19There might be holes in it, they might be hanging on by a thread,
- 32:23barely hanging on kind of thing. But in any situation, and in any
- 32:29case, no matter what your situation is, it is as a result
- 32:34and due to the actions, the deeds, the choices that were
- 32:42made before. It's simple as that.
- 32:47So to, to, to, to reach this point of our lives and to find a
- 32:57way to, to fix things. If it, if it's not what we want,
- 33:00that's where, that's where we come into play.
- 33:02You know, that's what I mentioned before that, you know,
- 33:04weird can kind of be looked at as fate, but it's not like we're
- 33:07fated to suck at life. We're fated to, you know, just
- 33:11be miserable all the time. It, it could be that we are at
- 33:16that point. We might be miserable or, or
- 33:18things might be very difficult or, or it's hard because of a
- 33:21lot of the deeds that have led up to the point of, of this
- 33:27moment, right, of this piece of, of the thread of the, of the, of
- 33:31the web that is being woven to, to get us to where we are now.
- 33:34But it's not a it's not, it's not the end of it.
- 33:38Things are still happening. We are, we, we can step in, we
- 33:41can grab hold of the threads and we can weave our own tapestry
- 33:46and we have to, we, you know, whether we want to or not, it's,
- 33:52we're doing it anyway. So why not make the choice to do
- 33:56it? Well, you know, it's, there's a
- 34:05lot of things going on in the world abroad, a lot of things
- 34:12going on in individual lives. You know, I'm, I'm not, I'm
- 34:17under no delusion to think that, you know, I have it harder than
- 34:20anybody else or other people have it harder than me.
- 34:23It's we all have it, you know, varying degrees of difficulty
- 34:26where we're all playing at different levels, kind of if you
- 34:31if you don't want to say it that way, but we're all experiencing
- 34:35this version of existence a bit differently.
- 34:40Then the next person. Sure, there's going to be people
- 34:43that are threads have become intertwined and and we're
- 34:46weaving in a very similar pattern that we you know, that
- 34:51that we jive, you know, that we like minds and and we're but you
- 35:01know, I'm under, I'm under, you know, no delusion to say that,
- 35:05you know, I've got it worse or better than anybody else.
- 35:08I I've just got it, what I've got it.
- 35:09And if I don't like it, the what if I don't like the things that
- 35:13I've got going right now and then then the way things have
- 35:17have have kind of spun into existence, I'll fix it, then do
- 35:23the do the work, do the necessary thing, you know, to
- 35:27change that. So it's tough, you know, when
- 35:37you see others that are very close to you, that that have
- 35:42been a very influential part of your life that have been some of
- 35:51the the ones to, to, to, to start that thread in going in
- 35:56the direction that it has reached.
- 35:58You know, I look at that, the people of my past, you know,
- 36:00whether it be immediate family members or distant family
- 36:05members or, or again, members of my people in my life who were
- 36:09like family to me through non traditional methods, you know,
- 36:13through just community, through marriage, you know, through,
- 36:21through whatever the case may be.
- 36:28When I see, when I, when I look back on the, the, the places
- 36:38that I've I've reached in my life, you know, that maybe not
- 36:40where I'm at now, but where I've, I've been at before.
- 36:42And I look back and I reflect and I go, you know, man, like
- 36:46that was I, I reached that point in my life because of the
- 36:53threads that I was weaving, you know, and, and the influence of
- 36:59the threads that people in my life had woven with me.
- 37:05You know, this would be, this could be very intricate
- 37:08situation. You know, it's, it's, it's not
- 37:11to place blame on others outside of your control.
- 37:15It's not to say that, well, my life is this or that because of,
- 37:20you know, what an old family member did or whatever.
- 37:23But it is, it's, it's it they're, they're, you know,
- 37:26placing blame and taking ownership or two, you know, 2
- 37:28very different things. And, and to say that, you know,
- 37:32I am the way I am, or I've, I have reached this point of my
- 37:34life largely due to things that have happened from, from, from
- 37:39others. I mean, that's a reality.
- 37:42You know, it's that, that the, the generational thing,
- 37:45especially generational traumas, right?
- 37:47Like things that have come down through the family luck and that
- 37:52have been woven into our family's tapestries.
- 37:55We didn't ask for it. We didn't ask to have those
- 37:59things, but they're there, you know, and you can't, you can't.
- 38:06Like once they're there, they're there.
- 38:07Once it's been added to the well, once it's been woven into
- 38:09that segment of the, of the, of the tapestry, it's, you know,
- 38:15you can only go back so far. You can only undo so much.
- 38:18And, and you can't, you, you, you can, you can continue to
- 38:22choose to, to weave along that same pattern, or you can deviate
- 38:28and you can take the threads and you can weave into something
- 38:30else and you can integrate into something else.
- 38:32You can change the outcome that the, the original part of the
- 38:36tapestry remains. It's, it's, it, it can't be
- 38:40undone in is in that aspect. But the things that can be
- 38:43undone is I don't have to stay on the same trajectory.
- 38:46I don't have to weave in the same pattern.
- 38:48I can choose a different pattern.
- 38:51I can choose a different way or different method of weaving.
- 38:56In that way things can change. And in that way we can undo the
- 39:00damage, you know, that was done in the, in, in the past.
- 39:06You know, when I see when I see people, you know, and I've had
- 39:17to, you know, reflect upon this myself because it's, it's again,
- 39:20it's, it's applicable for everybody.
- 39:22It you know nothing, nobody's unique or special in in this
- 39:27way. It's you can, you can, you can
- 39:33choose to pay attention or you can choose to ignore, but you
- 39:42can never honestly say that you just didn't realize it.
- 39:46I didn't notice. I didn't know that you did.
- 39:49You've, you've consciously chosen to face it or not face
- 39:52it. You know, you're not oblivious
- 39:55to things. You're just choosing to ignore
- 39:57those things. And you know those ugly truths,
- 40:03those hard truths, they're not easy to to face.
- 40:08You know, it's not easy to have the music played and then be
- 40:16made to dance. You know it's.
- 40:25You're you're you called out on something when you're made to
- 40:35realize that. Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm the reason
- 40:39that this is still the way it is.
- 40:40You know, I couldn't have any. I didn't have anything to do
- 40:43with how I got here, but I have everything to do with why I'm
- 40:48still here. And, and it's tough sometimes
- 40:52for people, you know, they don't like to, they don't like to
- 40:57weave their own threads. They don't like to take
- 41:00ownership and take responsibility.
- 41:04And then they like to and are they?
- 41:09And then they wonder why things are the way they are.
- 41:11Well, you know, again, this is all a choice.
- 41:14It's, it's a choice on whether you weave or not weave, but
- 41:16it's, it's a choice and the outcome will be what the outcome
- 41:19is based upon that choice. It's, you know, cosmic threads
- 41:26in the cosmic web that, that the larger scale picture things as
- 41:29it is a really interesting way of, of working things out.
- 41:33You know, you can't, you can't escape.
- 41:38You can't escape it. You might, you might outrun it
- 41:42for a little bit. You might get it out of your
- 41:44line of sight for a little while, but it catches up
- 41:47eventually. It, it always will.
- 41:49You'll never, you'll never outrun it forever.
- 41:52You'll tire, you'll slow down, but it'll stay constant.
- 41:55If it doesn't, so why? Why prolong the inevitable?
- 42:03Why? Why continue to, to, to live and
- 42:07to act in such ways where you know, those things aren't fixed,
- 42:15those those I'll deeds, they're, you know, the, the bad luck, if
- 42:18you want to call it that, whatever aren't addressed.
- 42:27And for that matter, you know, if you do think that the item
- 42:29that was given to you is, is carrying with it some, some bad
- 42:33juju or some bad energy or whatever, because of what
- 42:38somebody did cleanse it, fix it. It's, it's an item.
- 42:45It, it's by in and of itself. It has nothing.
- 42:48You know, I, I even, I even talked about this with, with
- 42:56some other near and dear friends and and kinsmen of mine.
- 43:02Soon after I received a ceremonial pipe, a Lakota man
- 43:08made, you know, probably 40 years ago or more.
- 43:14I know that the man who had it before me, you know, had it for
- 43:18over 33 years. And if the pipe was made by, by
- 43:24somebody probably before that. So, you know, who knows how old
- 43:27the actual pipe is, but you know, this pipe that was used
- 43:30in, in ceremony, you know, in, in, in Lakota tradition.
- 43:36Now, none of those traditions, none of those fabrics were ever
- 43:39shared with me. None of I was never intertwined
- 43:42into that fabric of weird, you know, or into that tapestry.
- 43:45And I was never given those songs or given that medicine in
- 43:50that way. But I was given the item.
- 43:54And the item itself is as is, as was as powerful as, as the man
- 43:58his name was 7 eagles who who had it before the man who gave
- 44:02it to me or earlier, there's two.
- 44:04There was, there were 7 eagles. And then there was Thracos who
- 44:07gave it to Wolf who gave it to me.
- 44:10But you know, the, the, the, the magic of the item, the power of
- 44:16the item, the main, the might, whatever you want to call it,
- 44:19the energy of the item is it was, it was only, yeah, sure.
- 44:22Like there's a lot of history behind it.
- 44:25And then there was a lot of ceremonial work done with that
- 44:30pipe, but I was not taught any of those ceremonies.
- 44:33I was not, you know, given any of those traditions to, to
- 44:39preserve. I was given the item and I
- 44:42therefore now create my own tradition with it.
- 44:47That is what that is what matters, you know.
- 44:49So the item itself does not, you know, the item itself is not
- 44:59what's giving you the, the, the ill or the good energy or luck
- 45:03or whatever you want to call it. It's what you do with it, you
- 45:08know, So if you have a feeling, you know, really get a good
- 45:13feeling about this particular item.
- 45:15I mean, if if that's part of your hearth cult, and I don't
- 45:18mean like superstition in a bad way, but if that's a part of
- 45:21your, you know, ideas of of how things work in the world, then
- 45:26then fix it, repair it, do the do the work to cleanse into into
- 45:31start something anew with it. If what was given to you or what
- 45:37was given or what was passed carries A carries an I'll
- 45:41feeling about it. So I think that that pretty well
- 45:48sums up where I see things on this.
- 45:50You know, again, when it comes to the items of, of things and
- 45:57how I, I, I'm more inclined to believe that the, the item is
- 46:01imbued with the energy based on the intention of what the item
- 46:05was for. You know, again, kind of like
- 46:06the, the Akil Scala Grimson, the whalebone thing, you know, like
- 46:10the guy put in, on in those in those ruins to, to, to do
- 46:15something, but he wasn't, he didn't know what he was doing.
- 46:17And then as a result, it, it, it did the opposite.
- 46:20And so soon Akil has to come in as being the the master of the
- 46:23ruins and fix it and undo what was done.
- 46:27So that way the person got better and was healed and, and
- 46:31all that. So, yeah.
- 46:38So I don't know if you have any thoughts of this about yourself
- 46:40or Blake, if you, you know, listen to this and or, or watch
- 46:43this, I know you're here on, on Patreon too.
- 46:46So hopefully, hopefully I read what you were saying rightly and
- 46:50I and I understood it and answered it well.
- 46:54But let us let us know what you think down in the comments if
- 46:55you're watching this or yeah, if you're listening to this and
- 46:58you're able to comment or share your feedback or your thoughts,
- 47:01definitely do. So love to to hear what
- 47:04everybody else is thinking about things like this.
- 47:07So I guess, you know, ultimately the answer kind of is there's no
- 47:10real, you know, there's yes and there's no, but also yes, it's,
- 47:18it's situational. It depends.
- 47:19But I think ultimately what it, what it boils down to, you know,
- 47:24for me is this understanding what, what weird is and how it
- 47:28is not static. It's not this, we're not just
- 47:31riding this line of, of, of the thread.
- 47:35We're not, we're not just riding along this, this piece of
- 47:38fabric, this thread and, and stuck with, with what we are
- 47:42given. We can, we can change things
- 47:44along the way. We can rewrite the code as it
- 47:48were. We can, you know, weave
- 47:50differently. So we have that.
- 47:55We have that ability to, you know, change what we're not
- 48:02satisfied with, what we're not. Yeah, that's we can change it.
- 48:09We have the power to change. So anyway, thank you, Blake, for
- 48:14again for writing in and and putting this out here.
- 48:18And thank you all for listening today.
- 48:20Thank you for watching, Thank you for supporting.
