Because man is carrying the effects of that shame, he now thinks he must either get rid of all his flaws or somehow hide them in order to get relief. But Jesus didn't just remove our shame and the curse of the law and forgive our sins, He gave us something even greater to replace these things - His honor. It wasn't just a mercy mission, it was a divine romance.
