A 25-year-old student, Miker Thembo Tumwine, died after ingesting rat poison following a brutal accusation by classmates that he stole and sold their trousers — a claim he denied, saying he’d bought them himself. The confrontation escalated when the accusers demanded 123,000 shillings from his family, threatening police involvement. His mother paid up, but Tumwine later told his mom he took the poison out of shame and rage over the false accusations. He died at Bwera Hospital around 5 PM on August 31, 2026.
