- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of Not Another Football Podcast with myself,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Simon Dornley. What are you looking at me for? I'm just.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Jackie McMorris.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And we're delighted our next guest is Mark Sharp from
- 0:16Speaker 1: Mark Sharp and the Bicycle Thieves. How are we doing, mate?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Oh, very well, boys.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Thanks for coming.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Good to see you.
- 0:21Speaker 2: You've been busy?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Very busy.
- 0:24Speaker 4: It's actually been one of the busiest summers for us.
- 0:26Speaker 4: It's been out at the Tide Park by Lewis Capaldi.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Then we were in Boston and then we just... just
- 0:33Speaker 4: finished a gig doing Where You Can't Beat It at
- 0:35Speaker 4: Queen's Park, so that was good.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Was that the one you invited me to and I
- 0:38Speaker 1: couldn't make it?
- 0:39Speaker 3: I invited you to look at him, you can't make it,
- 0:40Speaker 3: you're a busy man.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I know. Boston, what was the Boston thing?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I've seen that.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It was after the World Cup though, was it not?
- 0:48Speaker 3: It was for the World Cup final.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Was it for the final?
- 0:50Speaker 3: It was after part of the World Cup final.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Magic.
- 0:52Speaker 3: How did that come about?
- 0:54Speaker 4: We were in Iona playing a festival and it was
- 0:58Speaker 4: like five o'clock in the morning we'd finished playing the
- 1:00Speaker 4: festival that Newton Faulkner was playing it it was quite
- 1:02Speaker 4: good to see him he was class so we played
- 1:05Speaker 4: the gig I guess it takes about six hours to
- 1:08Speaker 4: get up to Iona for a start so it's a
- 1:09Speaker 4: trek up there three different ferries played that festival and
- 1:14Speaker 4: then we're kind of at the end of the night
- 1:16Speaker 4: we're in the tent I think we drank quite a
- 1:17Speaker 4: Newton Faulkner's whiskey and we're in the tent it was
- 1:20Speaker 4: about five o'clock in the morning we're sleeping and there's
- 1:23Speaker 4: a phone call going on and I'm kind of like
- 1:25Speaker 4: half sleeping like is this for real what's happening here
- 1:28Speaker 4: And I could just hear, like, it's five o'clock in
- 1:29Speaker 4: the morning here, stop phoning me.
- 1:31Speaker 3: And that was kind of the end of it. I
- 1:32Speaker 3: was like, what was that all about?
- 1:34Speaker 4: And it was my mate, the drummer, James Grant, his pal, Dobby,
- 1:39Speaker 4: Andrew Dobby, was phoning him. He was over down the Cone,
- 1:42Speaker 4: the Cone final, taking the Cone for Glasgow, to Gloucester.
- 1:46Speaker 3: He was that guy.
- 1:48Speaker 4: And so he basically phoned saying, I've met this guy at,
- 1:53Speaker 4: I think it was a Red Sox game. he's got
- 1:57Speaker 4: to do a big after party, I says, I know
- 1:59Speaker 4: the band for the job, do you want to come over,
- 2:01Speaker 4: he'll fly you over, got 17 hour notice. I know
- 2:03Speaker 4: that's what I was saying, because I thought he was
- 2:06Speaker 4: on social media, it did see walk in at the
- 2:08Speaker 4: last minute, it was at the blue, totally, and I
- 2:10Speaker 4: was like, we spoke about it in the morning, and
- 2:12Speaker 4: we were like, nah, we'll get home, and that'll be it,
- 2:14Speaker 4: this will be forgotten about, but I kind of think
- 2:16Speaker 4: we got, we were like, Glencoe, started to sober up
- 2:19Speaker 4: a wee bit, and we thought, let's look at flights,
- 2:22Speaker 4: and just see if it's possible, and, we were like,
- 2:26Speaker 4: doable but everything's got to go to plan there can't
- 2:30Speaker 4: be any delays with flights or anything like that we'll
- 2:33Speaker 4: make the.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Game immigration and all I had.
- 2:37Speaker 4: To get the visas and stuff at the last minute
- 2:39Speaker 4: but everything that could have went wrong somehow went right
- 2:44Speaker 4: the after party was in Boston the after party was
- 2:46Speaker 4: in Boston I think it was called the Anchor it
- 2:48Speaker 4: was like the home pub for the Scotland fans for when.
- 2:51Speaker 1: They first went over and I think they just.
- 2:56Speaker 3: The guy was like, I'll fly yous out.
- 2:57Speaker 4: And then I think he realised, once we sent the
- 2:59Speaker 4: price over, I think he realised all the way there.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Is that for always? I don't know, it's per person.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Then he went, fuck it, bring yous over.
- 3:08Speaker 4: So I flew us out and I think there was
- 3:10Speaker 4: only meant to be about 250 people there. There's two
- 3:12Speaker 4: and a half thousand people there. So we got there
- 3:15Speaker 4: and we were just seeing this big crowd and we
- 3:16Speaker 4: were like, that's not for us.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So where was it?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Was it in one of the stadiums or not?
- 3:20Speaker 3: No, the actual venue is an outdoor venue.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Right, okay.
- 3:26Speaker 4: And they'd built a stage and stuff like that for us,
- 3:28Speaker 4: and they've got the game on the big screen.
- 3:30Speaker 3: So I was absolutely bouncing. I was like, this has
- 3:33Speaker 3: got to be nuts. Still a bit surreal. You're like,
- 3:35Speaker 3: how did that even happen? I'd never even been over
- 3:37Speaker 3: to the States before.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So was it your manager or your mate that put
- 3:42Speaker 1: your name forward?
- 3:42Speaker 4: Our drummer, James Grant's mate, Andrew Dovey, he's the cone
- 3:50Speaker 4: guy so they're just pals and he just he's been
- 3:52Speaker 4: I've got the I know the band here so he's
- 3:54Speaker 4: just kind of like bigging it up bigging us up
- 3:57Speaker 4: as well he's like I've got the best band in
- 3:59Speaker 4: the UK coming over to do this it's funny isn't
- 4:02Speaker 4: it and then we as we were going on the
- 4:04Speaker 4: stage we were giving the guy he's a good hype
- 4:07Speaker 4: man Andrew Dowie we were giving the guy a whiskey
- 4:10Speaker 4: and he's like this is the best whiskey in Scotland
- 4:12Speaker 4: and I'm just nonsense but the crowd were absolutely.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Milking it spontaneous anything like that happened to you before
- 4:19Speaker 1: the gigs?
- 4:20Speaker 4: Nah we've had some of that stuff happen to us
- 4:22Speaker 4: but that was I didn't expect that to happen that
- 4:25Speaker 4: was just so last minute and as I say everything
- 4:27Speaker 4: had to go to plan and it did so it
- 4:29Speaker 4: was good.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Brilliant so obviously you started out the rest of the
- 4:34Speaker 1: band I think I've met a couple of you over
- 4:35Speaker 1: the years are you pals from school? how did it
- 4:38Speaker 1: come about?
- 4:39Speaker 4: No so you're just in the same area we're bass
- 4:42Speaker 4: player Connor he's pals with my wee cousin And I
- 4:46Speaker 4: was just getting a band going, probably nine, ten years
- 4:50Speaker 4: ago now. I was just starting to look for folk
- 4:53Speaker 4: to play in the band. And my wee cousin was like,
- 4:57Speaker 4: Connor plays bass. And then members have changed over time,
- 5:01Speaker 4: but Connor, Cammy, the guitarist, and Darren, he plays keys.
- 5:06Speaker 3: They all went to school together. And James's.
- 5:09Speaker 4: He's a bit older, but I met him through just music.
- 5:12Speaker 4: It was actually Wee Jack for the Snuts. He was
- 5:14Speaker 4: recording in Glasgow with this guy, James Grant. And then
- 5:19Speaker 4: he went, you need to go and record with this guy.
- 5:20Speaker 3: So I recorded with him. And now he's in the band.
- 5:24Speaker 5: So I'm a talent from your area and over the years.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on. What for him? I
- 5:29Speaker 3: think we always say it's like... Something in the water.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Something in the water.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You feel as if you've maybe just influenced each other,
- 5:37Speaker 1: inspired each other, kind of?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Definitely. There's also nothing else to do in Whitburn. Do
- 5:41Speaker 3: you know what I mean?
- 5:41Speaker 4: You play football, and then you get to the age
- 5:43Speaker 4: where you're like, I've been good enough to play professionally.
- 5:46Speaker 3: So you pick up a guitar.
- 5:47Speaker 4: It's raining all the time, so you need to do
- 5:49Speaker 4: something indoors, do you know what I mean? So, aye, that's...
- 5:53Speaker 4: It's mad to think of the people that's came from there.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Susan Boyle's near there as well, do you know what
- 5:56Speaker 4: I mean?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Blackburn.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 3: So aye, we've got everything to find Susan Boyle.
- 6:03Speaker 2: How did they come up with the name then?
- 6:06Speaker 4: I was actually just, I think I was in HMV
- 6:08Speaker 4: and I seen there was a film called The Bicycle Thief.
- 6:12Speaker 4: It's like an old Italian film from the 50s. So
- 6:15Speaker 4: I was like, that's classic. Just nick that.
- 6:18Speaker 3: That's how he came about.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He said they were not stolen bikes.
- 6:21Speaker 5: No, you said the other guys were stealing bikes when
- 6:25Speaker 5: they were younger.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Well, there's a good chance there were a couple of
- 6:27Speaker 3: dodgy boys in the band like you might have been.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But the guitarist actually got his bike stolen. I don't
- 6:31Speaker 3: know if you see it. It was one of the papers.
- 6:33Speaker 4: The papers were milking up because it was a bicycle thief.
- 6:35Speaker 4: He left it at Bathgate train station.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And somebody nicked it. But it was a good bike
- 6:39Speaker 3: publicity for us.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So you're always the front man? Your intention's always to
- 6:44Speaker 1: be the front guy?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Aye, so when I started that, I didn't play an instrument,
- 6:48Speaker 4: so I joined a band because they heard me singing
- 6:50Speaker 4: at a house party, and then I just kept singing
- 6:53Speaker 4: after that, and then I started writing my own stuff,
- 6:56Speaker 4: and picked up the guitar, and aye, just always been
- 6:58Speaker 4: the kind of front man.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Does that just come naturally to you, the writing?
- 7:03Speaker 4: It does actually, I struggle maybe with instruments, I've not
- 7:07Speaker 4: really got the discipline to kind of learn properly, but
- 7:11Speaker 4: I can write songs on piano or guitar. It's mad.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Aye, it's nuts. But I think melodies come quite naturally.
- 7:20Speaker 4: The words are hard to define, but I probably spend
- 7:23Speaker 4: the most time on the words, because I want to
- 7:26Speaker 4: perfect that.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I think that's something I'm really, that's my thing, I'd say.
- 7:30Speaker 2: And whether you kind of base yourself when you were younger,
- 7:32Speaker 2: what inspired you, the music, singing?
- 7:35Speaker 4: Aye, I've My mum and dad just loved music, so
- 7:38Speaker 4: there was always music about the house. There would have
- 7:41Speaker 4: been Rod Stewart and the Faces, The Beatles, David Bowie,
- 7:46Speaker 4: just a bit of everything really. So we just grew
- 7:49Speaker 4: up through music and you naturally fall in love with it,
- 7:53Speaker 4: do you know what I mean?
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You were saying Rod, because we were talking before you
- 7:56Speaker 1: came in, you were saying Kelly Jones, weren't you? But
- 7:59Speaker 1: there was a bit of Rod there, that kind of
- 8:01Speaker 1: gravelly voice.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Aye. It's probably from that, you know what I mean?
- 8:04Speaker 4: You subconsciously maybe just started doing that, do you know
- 8:08Speaker 4: what I mean? You eventually find your voice, you try
- 8:10Speaker 4: to imitate loads of people, and then you find your
- 8:12Speaker 4: own sort of voice through it. I've heard that before
- 8:16Speaker 4: with Kelly Jones and Robert Stewart.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Is it a tough career?
- 8:20Speaker 4: It is tough, I keep going, because you get so
- 8:24Speaker 4: many setbacks, so many promises, it just never happens.
- 8:28Speaker 3: And it is tough. But you just see if you're
- 8:30Speaker 3: doing it for the right reasons. You'll enjoy it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Enjoy it, aye. The first time I came across you
- 8:35Speaker 1: was in lockdown. I don't know if you remember. You
- 8:38Speaker 1: were doing a gig. It was for a little lad
- 8:41Speaker 1: that had died, I think.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It was Sam. Aye.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Aye. And it was through the wee boy Adam Frame
- 8:45Speaker 1: that we had in the bar singing. And I came across.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It was almost like an online gig, wasn't it?
- 8:52Speaker 3: Aye.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You were playing a video in black and white. I
- 8:55Speaker 1: remember it rightly. It was a kind of black and
- 8:57Speaker 1: white video you were when yous were singing?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Might have been, aye.
- 9:01Speaker 4: I just remember us doing it in my mate's garden,
- 9:04Speaker 4: and he was washing the stuff and that.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I remember that as well. I remember the washing, but
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'm sure it was in black and white.
- 9:09Speaker 3: The barbeque was doing his knickers, didn't we? Wow.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So those type of things at that time for you, obviously,
- 9:17Speaker 1: with being an artist and wanting to go out and perform,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you're stuck away. They must have been difficult for you.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Aye, definitely. That was weird, because it was like the
- 9:25Speaker 3: music industry was the last thing to come back. It
- 9:27Speaker 3: was real weird. We played the last ever gig in
- 9:29Speaker 3: the UK.
- 9:30Speaker 4: It was with Lewis Capaldi at P & J in Aberdeen.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And the Celtic Rangers game got cancelled that day.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Right, I remember that, right just before that.
- 9:42Speaker 3: And we were travelling up. We just played down south.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Everything was flying for us at that time. We'd sold
- 9:48Speaker 4: out St Luke's. We'd sold out a tour down south.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And we were going to be supporting the biggest artist
- 9:54Speaker 4: in Scotland for generations.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Dovered.
- 9:58Speaker 3: I can't go with that. we played that gig.
- 10:01Speaker 4: I remember the van broke down on the way there.
- 10:03Speaker 4: We were seeing the games getting cancelled, all these gigs
- 10:05Speaker 4: getting cancelled. We were getting messages from some angry fans saying,
- 10:09Speaker 4: you'd better not play this gig and all this.
- 10:10Speaker 3: That's not the day we is. We'll play it if
- 10:12Speaker 3: Lewis is putting on, do you know what I mean?
- 10:15Speaker 3: And as I say, the van broke down, but.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I had a gig going ahead, it was brilliant, and
- 10:19Speaker 4: there was a free bar after it, and then I'd
- 10:21Speaker 4: never seen anybody.
- 10:22Speaker 3: For about four years.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So you feel you had to start all over again then?
- 10:26Speaker 3: Aye, definitely.
- 10:28Speaker 4: And then, see, any time you take a wee break,
- 10:30Speaker 4: you feel like you haven't started on again. It's mad industry.
- 10:33Speaker 4: You'll bring out a song, you spend years writing, spend
- 10:37Speaker 4: a fortune recording, and.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Go, brilliant, can't wait for the next one.
- 10:41Speaker 4: You're like, just enjoy that one for a few months,
- 10:44Speaker 4: and then we can kick on, but it's different because.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Again you've all got other jobs I'm assuming so you're
- 10:50Speaker 1: juggling that as well.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Most of the band I do this full time and
- 10:54Speaker 4: the drummer he's he's the same he's like a composer
- 10:58Speaker 4: so he records artists and stuff like that and that's
- 11:01Speaker 4: his full time job makes wee jingles and that makes a.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Bomb so who do you do that stuff for?
- 11:07Speaker 4: He does it for everybody I think he's got a
- 11:08Speaker 4: song on BBC I do it for different things stuff
- 11:10Speaker 4: like that we've done some stuff together for like there's
- 11:13Speaker 4: a company in Switzerland and we've done like sort of
- 11:16Speaker 4: like a full act they paid us to write an
- 11:18Speaker 4: album so we did an album for them and it
- 11:20Speaker 4: just goes out to like tv shows adverts and stuff
- 11:23Speaker 4: like that right whatever it's like a big list of
- 11:26Speaker 4: songs and people pick out a song and just your
- 11:29Speaker 4: luck really.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And you've mentioned obviously lewis there a couple of times
- 11:33Speaker 1: hyde park must have been massive but you went and
- 11:36Speaker 1: toured did you go and tour in europe with lewis
- 11:38Speaker 1: yeah is that just again from that area and known
- 11:41Speaker 1: each other and your mates yeah pretty much i mean
- 11:45Speaker 1: Even before anything kind of kicked off with him, we'd
- 11:47Speaker 1: be at each other's gigs. I remember years ago, we
- 11:51Speaker 1: played a gig in Armadale.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I can't remember the name of the pub.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Is that where we went? With Gary Greig? Was that Armadale?
- 11:58Speaker 2: Foltis.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Foltis. We sang one song that night. Ah, it had
- 12:02Speaker 3: been in Foltis. In the Grange, I think it was.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Aye, that was in the Grange.
- 12:05Speaker 4: I remember being choked with the cold and hearing you
- 12:07Speaker 4: as well.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It was raging.
- 12:08Speaker 3: So I couldn't get out.
- 12:09Speaker 4: But I remember us playing a gig and it was
- 12:13Speaker 4: obviously me and Lewis. and both our dads and the
- 12:16Speaker 4: barman that was what was there and then to see
- 12:18Speaker 4: him do that and then do his thing all the
- 12:20Speaker 4: way he's doing it isn't credible but we've just always
- 12:24Speaker 4: supported each other when we've been in bands and done
- 12:26Speaker 4: solo stuff and then it's just kicked off and he's
- 12:28Speaker 4: like come and join us and he's doing stuff.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So where in the European tour?
- 12:33Speaker 4: I did a full month so it was I think
- 12:36Speaker 4: we started in Poland finished and they actually got caught
- 12:39Speaker 4: short because they were He lost his voice and stuff
- 12:42Speaker 4: like that and he was struggling at that time. But
- 12:46Speaker 4: we played dive with Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, kind of everywhere.
- 12:55Speaker 4: That was brilliant and it finished in Spain. I think
- 12:57Speaker 4: the last gig was... Anyway, I actually went back out
- 12:59Speaker 4: and did Milan.
- 13:01Speaker 2: He was just constantly travelling then?
- 13:03Speaker 3: Aye, brilliant.
- 13:03Speaker 1: What a life.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Because he put us up in his tour bus.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:07Speaker 4: He had his own tour bus, but we were in
- 13:09Speaker 4: another tour bus as well.
- 13:11Speaker 3: It's trucks and.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Just a mad experience. So it was great for him
- 13:15Speaker 4: to take us out. We look at that gig we
- 13:17Speaker 4: did in front of our dads and then to take
- 13:20Speaker 4: it on.
- 13:20Speaker 3: It was incredible.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Being to where you've got to.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Aye.
- 13:22Speaker 1: That must be the Hyde Park one then. That must
- 13:24Speaker 1: be amazing. Was it yourselves... Lewis, who else was playing
- 13:28Speaker 1: in that?
- 13:29Speaker 3: Luke Levoque played as well. He played there?
- 13:31Speaker 4: Aye, he's from the same area, he's Bathgate as well. Aye,
- 13:35Speaker 4: it was quite... It's good.
- 13:37Speaker 1: To see from that kind of thing, isn't it? Bringing
- 13:40Speaker 1: boys that he's obviously grew up with, performing in areas,
- 13:44Speaker 1: you're talking about the two dazs, and then no forgetting
- 13:46Speaker 1: about his great playing.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Because he's a popular man, and everybody wants to support him.
- 13:51Speaker 4: He's got loads of friends that are in the music industry,
- 13:53Speaker 4: and he could give it to them, but he's... He
- 13:56Speaker 4: always says, actually, I like your music.
- 13:58Speaker 3: That's the thing. It's not just because you're my pal.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I like your music.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Which must be a buzz. Aye.
- 14:04Speaker 4: He said that before and I'm like, whatever. But his
- 14:07Speaker 4: pal's like, no, he plays your music all the time
- 14:09Speaker 4: and stuff. So it's like, that's amazing to hear.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean?
- 14:12Speaker 1: Of course it is. Your album, obviously, that came through
- 14:15Speaker 1: to see, was that, I can't believe it. That's Bathgate.
- 14:19Speaker 3: 2023? Aye.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Already?
- 14:20Speaker 3: Mental time flies.
- 14:22Speaker 1: He's played with Dictator.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Dictator played.
- 14:24Speaker 1: He played first.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Was that the release date of your album?
- 14:28Speaker 4: That was the album launch. I think that was the
- 14:31Speaker 4: day we got number one that day in Scotland.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Brilliant.
- 14:35Speaker 3: So that was just a big party. We went all out.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Remember the big inflatable moon?
- 14:43Speaker 1: Aye.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Aye.
- 14:45Speaker 4: And went and made it with the lights and just, like,
- 14:48Speaker 4: no profit off this, let's just This is a party.
- 14:50Speaker 1: It's actually Times Flat. When I was reading up on
- 14:53Speaker 1: it a wee bit there, I couldn't believe it was
- 14:54Speaker 1: three years. So you're talking there about the pressure of
- 14:56Speaker 1: having to get something else out there with your fans
- 14:59Speaker 1: and stuff. Is there another album in the... I know
- 15:02Speaker 1: you've released a couple of singles.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, we're working on one right now.
- 15:05Speaker 4: So that's the next step for us, just trying to
- 15:08Speaker 4: get this album the best it can be. Personally, I
- 15:12Speaker 4: think it's better than the first album. I think the
- 15:14Speaker 4: first album was more like collection of other songs that
- 15:17Speaker 4: we've done over the years and we've put it together
- 15:19Speaker 4: like a.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Greatest hits type thing.
- 15:22Speaker 4: But this one it's like we're writing songs specifically for
- 15:25Speaker 4: this album and I feel like we're getting better with
- 15:28Speaker 4: the songwriting and stuff as well so I feel like
- 15:31Speaker 4: we're in a good place with the songs at the moment.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Hi guys, as you probably well know by now, we
- 15:36Speaker 1: have signed up for the London Marathon next April and
- 15:41Speaker 1: we have some fantastic people supporting us, groups supporting us,
- 15:45Speaker 1: we're doing it for a fantastic cause, or two causes,
- 15:47Speaker 1: who are we doing it for?
- 15:48Speaker 5: We're doing it for Headway UK and the Concilium Sports Foundation.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yep, so we're going to have some updated videos of
- 15:56Speaker 1: our progress and our training and everything else that it
- 15:59Speaker 1: takes to get us over the line. He's emphasised that
- 16:02Speaker 1: time doesn't matter.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Doesn't matter.
- 16:05Speaker 1: As long as we complete it. There'll be a link
- 16:08Speaker 1: in the bio for any charity donations. We're going to
- 16:13Speaker 1: be raising as much money as we can over the
- 16:15Speaker 1: next period of time. Our training starts very soon. And, yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 1: look forward to some updates on here. Hopefully no injuries.
- 16:23Speaker 4: But it's going to take a bit of time in
- 16:25Speaker 4: the studio and then hopefully get out next year.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Next year. And then take it on tour, obviously.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Mm-hm. class that's the plan anyway super so.
- 16:33Speaker 1: They're talking about obviously the overriding thing the football side
- 16:40Speaker 1: of it it's not a hidden secret that you're a
- 16:43Speaker 1: big Celtic fan growing up did you play yourself were
- 16:46Speaker 1: you quite keen football you said maybe you got to
- 16:49Speaker 1: a stage where you didn't reckon.
- 16:51Speaker 4: You were good enough no I think anywhere from everybody
- 16:57Speaker 4: just plays football you're in the streets all the time
- 16:59Speaker 4: constantly so I played football I was at Falkirk for
- 17:03Speaker 4: I played for Falkirk for about four years at the
- 17:06Speaker 4: youth and then I think under 16, 17's.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Position me striker right.
- 17:14Speaker 4: And I sometimes played a full line as well your
- 17:16Speaker 4: boyfriend Las Vegas played at Falkirk didn't he no I
- 17:19Speaker 4: didn't I heard he was a better player Scott Arfield
- 17:22Speaker 4: was there when I was he was a few years
- 17:24Speaker 4: older but he was there when I was there right
- 17:26Speaker 4: can't remember the manager was Eddie May Yogi and Eddie
- 17:29Speaker 4: May were the managers.
- 17:30Speaker 2: That's when I was there.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Aye.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I was there then. Aye. I'm not going to ask it,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but I will ask it. So what age were you then?
- 17:38Speaker 3: So I'd have been.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Because you'd have been a player there.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Aye.
- 17:42Speaker 1: What year would.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Well, we were still wearing the strips, like the player
- 17:47Speaker 4: strips that were getting the handmaidens for the 90s.
- 17:51Speaker 1: We were young lads.
- 17:51Speaker 2: We got to the final with Yogi, played Rangers in
- 17:55Speaker 2: the final.
- 17:56Speaker 5: And then Yogi left to go to Hibs and then
- 17:58Speaker 5: Eddie May stepped up with Elvis and I left I
- 18:04Speaker 5: left in January just after January when Elvis took over.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I remember because I remember because that was the youth
- 18:11Speaker 4: party that was the year when I crossed I think
- 18:19Speaker 4: Falkirk went up that year but because the stadium wasn't
- 18:21Speaker 4: ready they didn't but the youth team went up so
- 18:24Speaker 4: we were getting hammered I just kind of lost a
- 18:26Speaker 4: bit of interest.
- 18:27Speaker 2: So you'd be based at Stirling Uni, the games?
- 18:30Speaker 3: That's right.
- 18:32Speaker 2: They had a really good set-up. A lot of good
- 18:34Speaker 2: young players came through.
- 18:36Speaker 5: Arfield, Scobie, quite a few other young boys. But when
- 18:43Speaker 5: we went down at the end of that year with Elvis,
- 18:48Speaker 5: they got rid of the academy shortly after that.
- 18:50Speaker 2: They've brought it back again now, but.
- 18:52Speaker 4: It was a good set up, he was trained at
- 18:54Speaker 4: Little Kearse when I first went there and then I
- 18:59Speaker 4: ended up in Stirling. But they were always wanting to
- 19:03Speaker 4: play football, it was like drilling, proper passing, pass.
- 19:07Speaker 3: The ball, move and that, it was proper drilling.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Eddie May was good, he would have been in charge
- 19:11Speaker 5: of the academy Eddie when he came up, I liked Eddie.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I was there for about four years.
- 19:16Speaker 4: I was there for about four years, aye. I think
- 19:20Speaker 4: under 12.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Or something How did that finish for you then?
- 19:24Speaker 4: I think we went up to Aberdeen and got beat
- 19:26Speaker 4: 10-0 and we got beat off Rangers 9-0 and all
- 19:30Speaker 4: my pals were playing with Rangers at the time so
- 19:34Speaker 4: we had a team in Livingston Murison and a lot
- 19:38Speaker 4: of us went to Rangers and then they were signing
- 19:41Speaker 4: players and stuff like that like Sandy Clark's lad Nicky
- 19:44Speaker 4: he was coaching us and he turned that team to
- 19:47Speaker 4: Rangers I think there was a few teams wanting to
- 19:49Speaker 4: sign the whole team because we were unbeaten, we were
- 19:52Speaker 4: winning like 10, 30 and all. I forget who it was.
- 19:57Speaker 4: So like Danny Olsen was in that team. Rhys McCabe
- 20:01Speaker 4: obviously Nicky Clark there's triplets from South Africa they were
- 20:06Speaker 4: quality Darren Cole as well and a lot of them
- 20:10Speaker 4: went on and played Champions League football for Rangers and stuff.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Darren Cole made them in loan at Partick and all.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I remember playing a few we played a few games
- 20:18Speaker 4: up at Morayfield I remember I can't remember who we
- 20:23Speaker 4: were playing but I remember John Fleck coming on and
- 20:27Speaker 4: like Just ripped it up.
- 20:29Speaker 2: He was decent, John.
- 20:30Speaker 3: He was unbelievable. And then that's when I came off.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He came on. Then the ball for the right wing.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Banged into the top bag. Two minutes later, they're the
- 20:38Speaker 3: same with the other foot.
- 20:39Speaker 4: And I went, I'll probably leave. And that's how I
- 20:42Speaker 4: ended up at Falkirk. But that was, I just loved
- 20:45Speaker 4: the way it fit. Well, then and again, you just
- 20:46Speaker 4: feel like you love that wee bit.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I kept playing. I was playing junior football until I
- 20:49Speaker 3: was about 24. Right. But I was gigging every weekend.
- 20:53Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. So the music had kicked in
- 20:55Speaker 1: by then.
- 20:55Speaker 3: So you were training twice a week.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Were you already doing that? So the Fall Cup, were
- 20:59Speaker 1: you already... Was the music interest there?
- 21:01Speaker 5: No, no.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I never even.
- 21:02Speaker 4: thought about anything like that then it wasn't probably until
- 21:05Speaker 4: after Paul Cook was maybe 16 or something that I
- 21:09Speaker 4: started getting into music.
- 21:11Speaker 2: You think he was into music I know he was a.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Celtic fan aye that's right I know he was a
- 21:15Speaker 4: Celtic fan.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Yeah, brilliant. He made the right decision though.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So the Bicycle Thieves, was that your first band or
- 21:36Speaker 1: were you in something before that?
- 21:37Speaker 3: No, I was in loads of bands before it.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Aye, so I was singing at a house party, just
- 21:41Speaker 4: like Oasis songs and Arctic Monkeys songs. I didn't know
- 21:45Speaker 4: there was a band there, but they didn't have a
- 21:46Speaker 4: singer and they asked me to join. I'd never thought
- 21:49Speaker 4: of anything like that kind of stuff at the time.
- 21:50Speaker 4: So I said aye and I've been doing it ever.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Since to be fair.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Can you remember your first gig with them?
- 21:58Speaker 4: Aye we we played somewhere in Broxbourne don't ask me
- 22:02Speaker 4: the name we played in Broxbourne and it was like
- 22:04Speaker 4: because we were still young at school everybody from school
- 22:07Speaker 4: came to us sold out and I remember going in
- 22:10Speaker 4: and this guy who put the gig on never seen
- 22:12Speaker 4: him since but he was he was like I'll give
- 22:16Speaker 4: you this now 50 quid 100 quid and I'll give
- 22:19Speaker 4: you the rest after once more folk come in and
- 22:23Speaker 4: I remember we hadn't even started the set yet I
- 22:26Speaker 4: remember I think we went out to get a drink
- 22:28Speaker 4: or something like that, came back in, and he's getting
- 22:30Speaker 4: carried down the stairs, spewed down his cell, he's absolutely rast.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And I've not seen him since, or we've never got
- 22:36Speaker 3: that money.
- 22:38Speaker 4: But aye, he deleted his number, and everything, so aye,
- 22:42Speaker 4: that was the first impression I had on that industry,
- 22:46Speaker 4: and I've loved it.
- 22:46Speaker 5: What about when you're away, I mean, with the band,
- 22:49Speaker 5: if you're touring, do you never get any fights or that,
- 22:53Speaker 5: or disagreements, or?
- 22:55Speaker 4: Nah, but to be fair, we're actually alright, we're, where
- 22:58Speaker 4: you sometimes have a bit of discussion when you're in
- 23:01Speaker 4: the studio on songs, but none of us are.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Kind of there.
- 23:07Speaker 4: No, I know you touch wood, but the corner on Cammy,
- 23:10Speaker 4: they're like best pals from school, so they'll maybe have
- 23:14Speaker 4: a fight, but they'll have a go at each other.
- 23:17Speaker 3: It's just pals, isn't it?
- 23:19Speaker 1: The touring bit must be a bit higher. Just the
- 23:22Speaker 1: boys away type of stuff.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Unbelievable. That's probably my best experiences I've had to Capaldi tour.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Because you play the gig. It's so easy because you're
- 23:32Speaker 3: the support band.
- 23:33Speaker 4: You know what I mean? So you're playing half an hour.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Nobody's there for you, but everybody's in. So you get
- 23:40Speaker 4: an audience crowd as well playing the gig. And then
- 23:44Speaker 4: you go off stage, just enjoy yourself. Get on the
- 23:46Speaker 4: bus and you're waking up a new city every day.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I remember we woke up one morning, I opened the
- 23:51Speaker 4: blinds and we were at the Amsterdam Arena, or was
- 23:53Speaker 4: it Cruyff?
- 23:54Speaker 3: Was it Cruyff Arena?
- 23:55Speaker 4: I'm like, did the tour, did soundcheck, catering was amazing.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Then you play the gig, and then I just see
- 24:03Speaker 3: it again.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Class.
- 24:05Speaker 4: I was obviously, because I was, I wasn't drinking as
- 24:07Speaker 4: much because you've got to look after the throat when
- 24:09Speaker 4: you're playing.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Were there any other football stadiums you played in there,
- 24:13Speaker 1: in that tour?
- 24:14Speaker 4: No we didn't play it was all arenas we didn't
- 24:16Speaker 4: play any football stadiums we just parked outside that alright
- 24:19Speaker 4: so you never played in there nah I can't remember
- 24:21Speaker 4: the place but we played at a different arena but
- 24:24Speaker 4: aye it was all Mercedes Benz arena and stuff like
- 24:26Speaker 4: that and.
- 24:28Speaker 3: You know you just you just take it in.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Your stride at the time as we say that's three
- 24:33Speaker 4: years ago you're looking back now and you're like did
- 24:35Speaker 4: that did that happen did that happen so lucky to get.
- 24:39Speaker 1: The Hyde Park one must be the same as well
- 24:41Speaker 1: though many folk would have been at that.
- 24:44Speaker 4: I'm not sure but like we were only on the
- 24:47Speaker 4: main stage we were only on one of the smaller
- 24:50Speaker 4: stages but that's the biggest stage see like the stage
- 24:53Speaker 4: Lewis played on that's like the biggest stage I've ever
- 24:55Speaker 4: seen it.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Was absolutely massive.
- 24:58Speaker 4: The stage we were on was quite good because it
- 25:01Speaker 4: was like right next to the entrance so people were
- 25:03Speaker 4: coming in and then listening it was quite great but
- 25:07Speaker 4: I'd seen the Libertines there years ago and I thought
- 25:10Speaker 4: it'd be amazing to play here I think the Pogues
- 25:12Speaker 4: played as well.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Pinch yourself stuff in it as you've seen bands that
- 25:15Speaker 1: you look up to and you're playing there after them.
- 25:18Speaker 2: So was the dream then to use Headline in it?
- 25:22Speaker 4: That would be aye the dream's always been to headline
- 25:25Speaker 4: the Barrowlands that's always been our kind of you played
- 25:27Speaker 4: the Barrowlands? played the Barrowlands but to headline it and
- 25:30Speaker 4: to do it with the band because we've only done
- 25:32Speaker 4: it acoustic we've done it twice we've done it with
- 25:34Speaker 4: Snuts and Will Lewis but it was just acoustic.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But to headline that would be your that's a dream aye.
- 25:40Speaker 4: That's I just want to get a get the focus
- 25:42Speaker 4: on that and zone in and let's make that the
- 25:45Speaker 4: goal do you know what I mean I think most
- 25:48Speaker 4: Scottish bands that's the dream headline the Barrowlands is.
- 25:51Speaker 6: It hard this bit getting out there like the promotions
- 25:57Speaker 6: aye definitely I think it's quite hard to even book
- 25:59Speaker 6: the Barrowlands as well it's always booked.
- 26:02Speaker 3: It but we'll certainly try anyway that's the.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Goal it's iconic isn't it just for every band it's
- 26:10Speaker 1: just that iconic platform to go and play the barras
- 26:13Speaker 1: what stuff were you into when you were younger then
- 26:16Speaker 1: what bands.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Eh Oasis Stone Roses em Arctic Monkeys I feel like
- 26:24Speaker 4: that like the Arctic Monkeys was a that's I was
- 26:28Speaker 4: too young to get the Oasis yeah but em my
- 26:31Speaker 4: Arctic Monkeys I know I just I just missed the
- 26:34Speaker 4: Oasis too young for Oasis no but you know that'll
- 26:37Speaker 4: be your that'll be your band because you were there
- 26:39Speaker 4: when they first came on the scene So the Arctic Monkeys,
- 26:41Speaker 4: that was the first.
- 26:42Speaker 1: You've gone all damn roses as well, to be fair.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So Arctic Monkeys was your.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Bit when you were heavily influenced by them?
- 26:49Speaker 1: Aye.
- 26:51Speaker 4: So I would say that, but I just listened to Oasis.
- 26:54Speaker 3: But a bit of everything. I love soul music as well.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Otis Redding's my favourite singer the whole time.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I like Otis, aye.
- 27:01Speaker 3: He's got an incredible voice.
- 27:03Speaker 2: I named my wee dog after him.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Did you? Oh, probably.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Aye, so I love old music, to be fair, but aye,
- 27:11Speaker 4: that's my kind of, that's my scene.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Did you get on the Oasis thing last year? I
- 27:15Speaker 1: was there.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Lucky enough. I was there, aye. I got Murrayfield. Aye, amazing.
- 27:20Speaker 3: And I'm on the ballot for this next year.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Ain't we all, aye?
- 27:23Speaker 3: Aye. I know. You're surely getting some freebies.
- 27:26Speaker 2: No. Nah. I hope so.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I had Andy McLaren text me last night, have you
- 27:30Speaker 1: sought me out for four tickets for away?
- 27:32Speaker 3: You'll be getting an idea.
- 27:34Speaker 2: It's bad enough with Celtic games, isn't it?
- 27:36Speaker 1: I was saying when I did the Celtic TV, I
- 27:37Speaker 1: was just going to hide in there in one of
- 27:39Speaker 1: the offices and just wait for the gig.
- 27:41Speaker 3: No, you'll be fine. Everybody knows that you're a big
- 27:43Speaker 3: Oasis fan as well, so you'll be getting an idea.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Well, hopefully. Hopefully that's the plan, isn't it? We'll wait
- 27:49Speaker 1: and see.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I missed it last year. I was meant to go
- 27:51Speaker 2: to the one in Dublin with you.
- 27:53Speaker 1: At Croke Park. It was amazing.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Slean Castle next year.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Slean Castle, which I've already played before.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Aye.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Some good venues actually next year. But it's just if
- 28:03Speaker 1: you get the tickets, isn't it?
- 28:04Speaker 3: I know.
- 28:05Speaker 1: It's this mad registering codes.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Hopefully it'll be a bit easier, not easier, but a
- 28:10Speaker 4: bit more organised than being a ballet, do you know
- 28:12Speaker 4: what I mean?
- 28:12Speaker 5: So would you say they were better last, when you
- 28:15Speaker 5: watched them then, or when you watched them at Loch Lomond?
- 28:20Speaker 3: That's an iconic gig.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Loch Lomond was, as he says, iconic and from what
- 28:26Speaker 1: I remember amazing, but what I took from the last
- 28:28Speaker 1: year was it was just polished and it was like
- 28:32Speaker 1: a big kind of loving, everybody was there for you
- 28:35Speaker 1: know 20 years before and now I'm reading that Liam
- 28:38Speaker 1: was in the drinking and stuff, they were focused and
- 28:41Speaker 1: I think that came across in it but the whole
- 28:43Speaker 1: thing was amazing.
- 28:44Speaker 4: It was quite hard to describe the feeling in there
- 28:46Speaker 4: unless you were in the gig.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Nostalgic.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Aye, it was like the weight, all that weight.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Emotion, haven't it? and there was no trouble either I
- 28:55Speaker 1: mean I remember one of my last Oasis gigs was
- 28:58Speaker 1: at Exhibition Centre last time round and you could tell
- 29:02Speaker 1: there was a fallout there with them and the crowd
- 29:06Speaker 1: it wasn't great I think you might have been there
- 29:08Speaker 1: that night it didn't help that we were no I
- 29:12Speaker 1: recognise this Celtic we get a bit of stick and
- 29:15Speaker 1: it just stuck in my head whereas Murrayfield was just
- 29:20Speaker 1: Croke Park, there was nothing. Everybody was just there for
- 29:22Speaker 1: one reason, because they were back. So hopefully that'll be
- 29:27Speaker 1: the same next year.
- 29:29Speaker 4: 2009 was when I first seen Oasis at Hyde Park,
- 29:33Speaker 4: and the generator blew about four times, and they were like,
- 29:35Speaker 4: we're giving everybody their money back for their tickets, but
- 29:38Speaker 4: we've still got to play the gig.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Right. think Liam said oh he's the money back and
- 29:43Speaker 3: I was.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Like no but I think folk did get the back
- 29:47Speaker 4: but they played the gig so we were in the
- 29:49Speaker 4: wallet and that was amazing KC being supported and that's
- 29:53Speaker 4: when they sort of a fire just came out so
- 29:55Speaker 4: they were like they were like the biggest.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Hottest band at the time.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I think the enemy were meant to play but food
- 30:04Speaker 4: poisoning or something like that and Reverend and the Makers
- 30:05Speaker 4: played so that was that was a good that was
- 30:08Speaker 4: a good gig but I'd still say even though that
- 30:10Speaker 4: was in Manchester I'd still say that What.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Day were you at Murrayfield? The weekend?
- 30:15Speaker 4: The Saturday I had a ticket for the Tuesday as
- 30:18Speaker 4: well but I gave it away so you've got the
- 30:20Speaker 4: experience He's asking me.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I'm the amateur you're the guy and what did you
- 30:25Speaker 1: think was the difference between then and last year?
- 30:29Speaker 3: Just sure about ourselves, eh? I think it was like,
- 30:31Speaker 3: they know who they are now.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Aye.
- 30:33Speaker 4: And it's like, probably there was arguments going on behind
- 30:38Speaker 4: the scenes back then as well.
- 30:39Speaker 3: But now it's like, we're not what we're here to do.
- 30:41Speaker 1: We're together now, sir.
- 30:42Speaker 3: And we cannae.
- 30:44Speaker 4: We cannae mess this up look at the amount of
- 30:46Speaker 4: folk there and it means everything it means everything to
- 30:48Speaker 4: folk it's.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Funny because all the footage and I think Noel Gallagher
- 30:51Speaker 1: admitted it himself but see the first two or three
- 30:53Speaker 1: gigs I think he was I don't think he could
- 30:55Speaker 1: understand did you see the documentary I've not seen it
- 30:58Speaker 1: yet I've not seen it he.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Talks about he talks about it in that he was like.
- 31:02Speaker 1: But he could visibly see it I don't think he
- 31:04Speaker 1: could believe the reaction he was getting off the people
- 31:06Speaker 1: that came to see them so many years later.
- 31:09Speaker 4: He came into it in that documentary he's like I
- 31:12Speaker 4: didn't expect it to be Like this, this big. He
- 31:16Speaker 4: totally underestimated it, which is nuts for somebody who's played
- 31:20Speaker 4: some massive gigs.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So accomplished, I know. It speaks volumes for the fans,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I think, as well. Right, we'll finish off. We touched
- 31:30Speaker 1: on Celtic a wee bit. What's your favourite memories of
- 31:33Speaker 1: Celtic going up?
- 31:35Speaker 4: I had a season ticket for years. I've not got
- 31:38Speaker 4: a season ticket now, but I used to go to
- 31:40Speaker 4: the games with my auntie.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Has that been Martin O'Neill era?
- 31:44Speaker 4: Martin O'Neill era I think my first game was I
- 31:47Speaker 4: went with my dad and my grandpa and my brother
- 31:50Speaker 4: and I think we beat Dunfermline 5-1 or.
- 31:53Speaker 3: 5-0 I think you were playing in that game.
- 31:56Speaker 1: 96 or something like that 5-0 Dunfermline at home I
- 32:02Speaker 1: think that was the start of Joe Venglas first year
- 32:06Speaker 1: no was it before that?
- 32:07Speaker 4: Could have been I was barely remember it but I
- 32:10Speaker 4: just remember we bet Dunfermline 5-0 Burley had the peroxide
- 32:13Speaker 4: blonde hair after the World Cup aye after the World
- 32:16Speaker 4: Cup 99 98 98 sorry aye 98 98 aye so
- 32:18Speaker 4: because I was trying to find the actual game game
- 32:23Speaker 4: but we bet Dunfermline like 5-0 I was planning.
- 32:25Speaker 5: That first game of the season I had got my
- 32:28Speaker 5: I think I had I might be on this reformer
- 32:32Speaker 5: operation had two ops out of here.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Right The stand had just been built, I think, as well.
- 32:37Speaker 5: He'd won the league with him.
- 32:39Speaker 3: I'll be joking, man.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Then we went to the World Cup.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I'm sure it was 5-0. Was Burley still with the
- 32:45Speaker 1: blonde hair for the World Cup?
- 32:48Speaker 4: I think so, probably. The umbral was in the middle.
- 32:52Speaker 4: I think it was that season. Larson had his dreadlocks.
- 32:56Speaker 3: I just remember that.
- 32:57Speaker 4: I always remember the cup fight, Larson's last game as well.
- 33:03Speaker 4: You lifted the trophy didn't you? Yeah And it was
- 33:05Speaker 4: in the kind of dark green Silver Carlin top.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I always remember that game It was Dunfermline.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Dunfermline I guess Dunfermline scored in the first.
- 33:14Speaker 5: I finished 3-1 Aye 3-1 It was Henrik's last game
- 33:18Speaker 5: Henrik got 2 and Petrov He told him to lift
- 33:22Speaker 5: the trophy Because he was leaving And done it together
- 33:25Speaker 5: He'd only do it if we were doing it together
- 33:27Speaker 5: That was his last game Aye because.
- 33:28Speaker 4: I remember that game in found out once I got
- 33:31Speaker 4: to the stadium that I was going to be one
- 33:33Speaker 4: of me and my brother was going to be in
- 33:34Speaker 4: the Dunfermline that was a roast not a day so
- 33:38Speaker 4: I was like I take my top off tried my
- 33:40Speaker 4: top off but I had Celtic trackies on and that
- 33:41Speaker 4: was they were pointing at all the Celtic fans and
- 33:44Speaker 4: getting them thrown out but I was alright my auntie
- 33:48Speaker 4: she was singing the songs and that but I always
- 33:53Speaker 4: remember that game that was an amazing day I always
- 33:56Speaker 4: remember all the goals.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Went in the same corner at the same end that's
- 33:59Speaker 3: right Petro's got.
- 34:01Speaker 5: One as well Petro's 2004 when he left that.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Was his very last game that was his last game
- 34:11Speaker 4: as well at Dundee United Dundee United that was a
- 34:15Speaker 4: tense tense game as he got on his score and
- 34:17Speaker 4: he got two in the.
- 34:18Speaker 5: End he got two in the end he couldn't he
- 34:20Speaker 5: was having one I think they.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Were trying to lock the score at one point weren't
- 34:26Speaker 3: they but aye brilliant I don't care where he had
- 34:28Speaker 3: done it.
- 34:29Speaker 1: European nights, did you get to any of the European nights, Hunter? Aye, aye.
- 34:33Speaker 3: It was at the Man United game, and that came
- 34:35Speaker 3: out a free kick. Trank of the game was at
- 34:41Speaker 3: that one.
- 34:42Speaker 4: But no, I've not beaten it in a way, European game, no.
- 34:45Speaker 4: I want to go to, well I try and get
- 34:46Speaker 4: away this year to Benfica or something like that. But no,
- 34:50Speaker 4: the AC Milan game as well, Dida got slapped or whatever.
- 34:54Speaker 4: All the Barcelona teams and stuff like that.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Brilliant night. But aye, good memories.
- 35:02Speaker 1: The current team, what do you make of the current team?
- 35:04Speaker 1: Last year was some finish.
- 35:06Speaker 3: Last year was, I hope that never happens again.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Too much for the nerves.
- 35:09Speaker 3: I don't think it would, but it was a great
- 35:11Speaker 3: start to the season. That was.
- 35:13Speaker 3: That was hell. I didn't expect that.
- 35:17Speaker 2: You see me bits there.
- 35:18Speaker 5: In the first game against Lask, you're thinking, God, the
- 35:21Speaker 5: new signings look really good.
- 35:25Speaker 2: It's been tough.
- 35:29Speaker 3: It was a tough one.
- 35:30Speaker 1: The one at the weekend. The two games, the two
- 35:33Speaker 1: biggest games of the season have been disappointing so far.
- 35:37Speaker 1: The next two games are huge. That's the great thing
- 35:41Speaker 1: in football. You've got games that quickly can turn that
- 35:43Speaker 1: around again.
- 35:44Speaker 4: So I'll be going tomorrow night to the European Games
- 35:49Speaker 4: so hopefully we'll see a performance and then you can
- 35:52Speaker 4: get a wee bit of confidence because I'm not looking
- 35:54Speaker 4: forward to Sunday I know you don't like football players
- 35:56Speaker 4: you don't look ahead to the games.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Just getting the rest as well because they've struggled physically
- 36:04Speaker 5: and even in between the last games there was no
- 36:08Speaker 5: game and there's still a lot of them pulling up
- 36:12Speaker 5: with cramp and all that I find it really.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Goalkeeper getting cramp that's a new one I've seen that before.
- 36:20Speaker 7: You're hoping it's going to be a that's true like
- 36:24Speaker 7: a because of the backlash from the last game in
- 36:29Speaker 7: fairness it does make a difference not having any fans
- 36:32Speaker 7: in there your own fans.
- 36:33Speaker 4: It's quite difficult for that It affects the referee's decisions
- 36:36Speaker 4: as well in the park, I feel.
- 36:37Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 36:38Speaker 2: The energy.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Aye, 100%.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Because I'm sure they'll get a few decisions against us,
- 36:42Speaker 4: but there's no complaints from me in that game. I
- 36:45Speaker 4: thought we were second best all over the park.
- 36:48Speaker 1: It's the first time I've watched that game for a
- 36:50Speaker 1: while that Celtic didn't have anything in the game.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Nothing at all.
- 36:53Speaker 1: They didn't have control at any time in the game.
- 36:55Speaker 1: As I say, the next game's coming, I'm thinking five,
- 36:59Speaker 1: so you've got plenty of time to turn that around
- 37:01Speaker 1: and park ahead on Sunday. Mate, you've been a great guest.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I look forward to the next album and we'll come
- 37:08Speaker 1: and see you at some point.
- 37:09Speaker 3: See you next time.
