- Lucas: Hallo, and welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another episode? Lucas: Absolutely. Last time we were at the market buying fruit. Today, we're going somewhere else. Luna: Ooh, where? Lucas: The train station! We'll learn how to buy a ticket in Dutch. Luna: Oh, that's so useful. I always get nervous at the counter. Lucas: No worries. We'll practice together. First phrase: 'Ik wil graag een kaartje naar...' meaning 'I would like a ticket to...' Let's say it together: Ik wil graag een kaartje naar... Luna: Ik wil graag een kaartje naar... Lucas: Good. Now add a city. For example, Amsterdam. Ik wil graag een kaartje naar Amsterdam. Luna: Ik wil graag een kaartje naar Amsterdam. Lucas: Perfect! So if you're at the counter, you say that. Now the ticket seller will ask: 'Enkele reis of retour?' That means 'Single or return?' Luna: Enkele reis of retour? Lucas: Exactly. 'Enkele reis' is single trip, 'retour' is return. Let's practice. You want a single ticket. Luna: Enkele reis, alstublieft. Lucas: Yes! Add 'alstublieft' for politeness. So: 'Enkele reis, alstublieft.' Luna: Enkele reis, alstublieft. Lucas: Great. Now you need to ask the price. 'Hoeveel kost het?' — How much does it cost? Luna: Hoeveel kost het? Lucas: And the seller might say: 'Het kost €20.' It costs 20 euros. Luna: Het kost €20. Okay. Lucas: Let's put it all together in a little scene. I'll be the ticket seller. You come to the counter. Luna: Okay, here I go. Ik wil graag een kaartje naar Amsterdam. Lucas: Enkele reis of retour? Luna: Enkele reis, alstublieft. Lucas: Hoeveel kost het? Luna: Het kost €20. Lucas: Perfect! You just bought a ticket in Dutch. Let's review our phrases once more. Luna: Yeah, let's do it. Lucas: First: Ik wil graag een kaartje naar... Luna: Ik wil graag een kaartje naar... Lucas: Then: Enkele reis of retour? Luna: Enkele reis of retour? Lucas: Answer: Enkele reis, alstublieft. Luna: Enkele reis, alstublieft. Lucas: Then ask: Hoeveel kost het? Luna: Hoeveel kost het? Lucas: And the reply: Het kost €20. Luna: Het kost €20. Lucas: Excellent. Now you can confidently buy a train ticket. Practice these phrases, maybe with a friend. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. This was really helpful. Lucas: You're welcome. And remember, Fexingo has more episodes to help you learn Dutch. Keep practicing, and see you next time! Luna: Doei!
