Kurtz Out for All-Star Break | Oakland Athletics News
Athletics’ All-Star first baseman Nick Kurtz is sidelined with a thumb strain, missing his first career All-Star Game after stepping in for an injured Guerrero Jr. The injury followed a collision at first base and a brief illness, and despite his stellar season—20 homers, 66 RBIs, and a league-leading 76 walks—Kurtz’s hot streak is now on hold. The A’s have called up veteran catcher Brian Serven to fill his spot, as Kurtz’s absence looms large heading into the break.
