- 0:00Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to College Football Locker Room. It
- 0:02Speaker 1: is what? It is week five. It's an exciting slate
- 0:05Speaker 1: of games. I know next week everyone's really clamoring about
- 0:07Speaker 1: the next two weeks, but this week we got a
- 0:08Speaker 1: lot of great games taking place. A lot of things
- 0:10Speaker 1: shaking out in the college football world, but one thing
- 0:12Speaker 1: that shakes out every single week is FanDuel, your most
- 0:15Speaker 1: rewarding season ever because FanDuel is the greatest place to
- 0:19Speaker 1: bet on games. We've got three winners right here.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hey Taylor, how do they win?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Very simple, if you use your Twitter username you put
- 0:24Speaker 1: in the comments of this video, you are essentially entered
- 0:27Speaker 1: in a chance to win for FanDuel to go out,
- 0:29Speaker 1: look down the line, pick somebody and go, you know what,
- 0:31Speaker 1: we want this guy to win bonus bets. Taylor, here's
- 0:34Speaker 1: three coins. Our winners this week, David M. Bortz, Aaron McCartney, Six,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and Matt Lossing. Congratulations, let's give a round of applause
- 0:42Speaker 1: for those guys, huh? All they did was follow the rules.
- 0:45Speaker 1: They put their username in the comments below. So we're
- 0:48Speaker 1: going to start out here with Aaron McCarney 6. Got 100,
- 0:53Speaker 1: got 1,000, got 500, 1,000, 250 to re-roll. I'm figuring
- 0:56Speaker 1: out this board. I'm feeling really good about getting these
- 0:58Speaker 1: boys 1,000.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Not money.
- 0:59Speaker 1: It's Vandal's money. Let's get after it, McCarney.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Come on, boy. That's an insane series of events. That's
- 1:08Speaker 2: an insane- That's a Will Compton five unit right there. Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 1: That's a Florida Ole Miss under right there.
- 1:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Let's get into it one more time. What?
- 1:18Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:19Speaker 1: This has got to be. Something's got to be going on.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It may be the table tilt.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think it's the tape on it. Come on.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, man! It's the honey!
- 1:30Speaker 1: We'll take that next one. Matt Lawson. Shout out Matt Lawson.
- 1:34Speaker 1: What did he do? Clump, what did he do?
- 1:36Speaker 2: He commented on the YouTube and left his Twitter username. Wow.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I mean, he was more enthusiastic than that when he
- 1:41Speaker 1: do it. But yes, here we go again. One, two.
- 1:44Speaker 1: That's insane.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Reroll. Reroll.
- 1:48Speaker 1: The board's crazy. And my fingers. I got a broken finger.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Zero edits on this later, please. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Do not edit any of this.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Good move.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You gotta adapt or die in this world, boys. Here
- 2:03Speaker 1: we go now. Let's get it done real quick. We
- 2:11Speaker 1: got Dave M. Bortz. Dave M. Bortz. Put it on there.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Most rewarding season ever. Fandles here to cover you.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Let's go. Oh, yeah!
- 2:24Speaker 3: $ 100 or more!
- 2:25Speaker 1: It's free money! You have the opportunity to turn that
- 2:28Speaker 1: into $ 1, 000. Just text that, boy, I got a couple
- 2:29Speaker 1: of parlays for this week, and only one counts towards
- 2:32Speaker 1: the things. Great show headed your way. Week five, units are.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Flying over the place.
- 2:37Speaker 1: We got one guy, units is up here, and another guy,
- 2:40Speaker 1: you're right down there. Let's have a hell of a show.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Oh, f * * *.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I got lightheaded when I went down there. It's like
- 2:50Speaker 1: a sprint marathon.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Welcome to another episode of The Locker Room. You guys
- 3:10Speaker 3: are watching right now. We are brought to you by
- 3:11Speaker 3: the number one sportsbook in America. It is the FanDuel sportsbook.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Before we get.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Started, entertainment purposes only.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Yep.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Gamble responsibly. There's a responsible gaming section in the app.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You can also go to FanDuel.com slash play with a plan.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Gamble responsibly. Gamble responsibly. Gamble responsibly. Now, if you guys
- 3:30Speaker 3: are not part of FanDuel's college football pick-em, I just
- 3:32Speaker 3: have to ask you, what are you doing?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Because it's free.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's free.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It's free.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You go into FanDuel.
- 3:38Speaker 3: You can pick 10 games against the spread every week
- 3:42Speaker 3: for free. If you go 10 out of 10, you're
- 3:44Speaker 3: going to win a share in a $ 500, 000 jackpot. There
- 3:49Speaker 3: were how many winners last week? 210 jackpot winners that
- 3:54Speaker 3: walked away with a share of $ 2, 300 in FanDuel bonus spreads.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Oh, my God. In FanDuel bonus spreads. Also....
- 4:01Speaker 3: If you participate in picking 10 games against the spread, again.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It is free.
- 4:05Speaker 3: FanDuel's college football pick-em.
- 4:08Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 4:08Speaker 3: You should be on it. You also play against us.
- 4:11Speaker 3: If you beat one of us, you will get a
- 4:14Speaker 3: profit boost token.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:15Speaker 1: For free. For free?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Just for beating one of us.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And it's not that difficult to do that. It's not
- 4:19Speaker 3: that difficult to do that. This week, Taylor and Josh
- 4:22Speaker 3: earned five correct points.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Picks each.
- 4:25Speaker 3: So if you get six, you're going to get a
- 4:27Speaker 3: profit boost token. Willie C was a little tougher to
- 4:30Speaker 3: take down. I see, I'm reading right here, Mr. Willie
- 4:32Speaker 3: C with a calm 7 out of 10. The boy
- 4:35Speaker 3: went 7 out of 10. Very strong week for the
- 4:36Speaker 3: boys overall, but again, go to Fanduel.com slash Bustin.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Participate. It's free.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You don't have to wager anything. 10 games against the spread.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Try to go 10 for 10. You'll get a share
- 4:46Speaker 3: of $ 500, 000. If you beat one of us, you're going
- 4:48Speaker 3: to get a profit boost token.
- 4:49Speaker 2: God!
- 4:50Speaker 1: And that's the best ad read you've done so far.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Like Josh put something in front of you in week
- 4:55Speaker 1: one and you've just gotten better every single week. I
- 4:57Speaker 1: appreciate that. It's been very impressive to see. I feel
- 4:59Speaker 1: like we should put a unit on the 10 picks
- 5:02Speaker 1: because if we're in that position, there wouldn't be so
- 5:05Speaker 1: much red on your sheet of paper right now. Seven
- 5:07Speaker 1: picks is great.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Honestly, if you look at it, I had a strong
- 5:12Speaker 3: week with picks.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I want to say I went what? Five and two?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Five and two?
- 5:18Speaker 3: No, no, I didn't go four and four. You count
- 5:20Speaker 3: my parlay. I'm talking just picks. I felt pretty good.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Now where my confidence. Probably counts.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm talking like our picks. Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Like, you know, parlays, they're long shots. I get that
- 5:32Speaker 3: you lose a unit. Tell them where it went wrong though.
- 5:35Speaker 2: It went wrong.
- 5:37Speaker 3: My instinct was right. My confidence was wrong. I went
- 5:42Speaker 3: under five units on Ole Miss, Florida. And when I'm
- 5:44Speaker 3: sitting there at halftime and it's, what, 17-6, I'm drawing
- 5:47Speaker 3: a hot bath.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I'm lighting a couple candles.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And then by the time the second half kicked off,
- 5:53Speaker 3: my wife, she finds me bellied up in the tub.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I was feeling so good.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I was like, man, I kind of saw all of
- 6:00Speaker 3: it this week, didn't I? And then, of course, Georgia, Oklahoma,
- 6:04Speaker 3: I'm like, Georgia's a buzzsaw. Georgia's a buzzsaw. Georgia's a buzzsaw.
- 6:07Speaker 3: But the spread is a little. Yeah, Oklahoma does have
- 6:09Speaker 3: elite defense. It could be a tight game. I'm just
- 6:11Speaker 3: going to go under there.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:13Speaker 2: And then that one, Georgia almost covered it by itself.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Oklahoma. Like, tease and peace for them boys
- 6:20Speaker 1: over there. That is just. This is this. I don't
- 6:24Speaker 1: want to say because the corner zip guy, but it
- 6:25Speaker 1: has something to do with it.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You talked me into them last week. I know.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And trust me, it's ran past me a couple of
- 6:31Speaker 1: times in my brain and I felt guilty every single time.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I blame myself. I mean, it was my decision. I'm
- 6:36Speaker 2: an adult.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you're an adult. But at the same time, it
- 6:40Speaker 1: made too much sense. And John Mateer, you didn't see
- 6:45Speaker 1: it going down like that.
- 6:46Speaker 2: No.
- 6:46Speaker 1: You didn't see them have a wide open receiver in
- 6:48Speaker 1: the end zone and him just like some circus music
- 6:51Speaker 1: goes on and the ball flies out of his hand.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Who's that number nine kid?
- 6:53Speaker 3: I was going to say the best part of the
- 6:54Speaker 3: play was, is it Chris Cole?
- 6:56Speaker 2: Chris Cole.
- 6:57Speaker 1: 22 miles an hour.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Unbelievable. Fucking crazy.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yeah, running like a deer out there. So yeah, it
- 7:02Speaker 1: was bad, man. It was bad. Are the Sooners dead?
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Is it a bad look for my favorite school?
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Maybe stock to sell. Jack was going around the office
- 7:09Speaker 3: talking about what coach could you sell stock on?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Like he might have to. That's the problem though. It's like,
- 7:14Speaker 1: why would you sell stock on something that's so low
- 7:16Speaker 1: at that point? You have to sell stock when it's
- 7:17Speaker 1: high to make a profit.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You ever describe a game and you're being serious. You
- 7:24Speaker 2: had already begun and you tried to stop the momentum
- 7:27Speaker 2: of the sentence, but it couldn't be stopped. So I'm
- 7:30Speaker 2: giving you the floor.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It seems really, really important. I'm giving you the floor.
- 7:35Speaker 3: In my brain, I'm thinking Taylor is right saying that.
- 7:37Speaker 3: But also, if it's selling at a buck right now,
- 7:40Speaker 3: are you still going to wait for it just to
- 7:41Speaker 3: go down to zero? You can still save something.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Give it a buck.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah. He's already got it.
- 7:46Speaker 1: How much stock have you bought? I bought a lot
- 7:47Speaker 1: of stock in Oklahoma before the season.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 1: So I could still be, you know, saving a little bit.
- 7:54Speaker 2: How are they worse?
- 7:56Speaker 1: I don't know, man.
- 7:57Speaker 2: It's very dumb.
- 7:58Speaker 1: That kind of blows me away is our conversation about Oklahoma.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And I was like, hey, no way they can run
- 8:03Speaker 1: the ball better this year. And you're like, I tend
- 8:05Speaker 1: to think that if something's at rock bottom, it can
- 8:07Speaker 1: only get better, which is fantastic logic.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Or it could just stay at rock bottom.
- 8:11Speaker 1: It could just stay at rock bottom. Because we looked
- 8:13Speaker 1: at it and we're like, hey, like Ryan Grubb, he's
- 8:14Speaker 1: never been able to run the ball. But at Alabama,
- 8:16Speaker 1: like Corral is like 6.7 yards per carat. Keelan Russell's
- 8:19Speaker 1: doing a great job on the ball. It's kind of
- 8:21Speaker 1: flipped on us where our perspective was history has shown
- 8:25Speaker 1: one OC can't run the ball. You got to believe
- 8:27Speaker 1: that Venables is going to get whatever he chooses to
- 8:29Speaker 1: get because he's got that kind of culture. And it
- 8:31Speaker 1: just hasn't worked out that way. And that's kind of
- 8:32Speaker 1: what makes college football so beautiful. Another thing that makes
- 8:35Speaker 1: college football beautiful is rankings.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Before we go into rankings, I do got to ask
- 8:40Speaker 3: one thing because he threw a grenade last year.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Massive grenade.
- 8:43Speaker 1: It was quiet.
- 8:44Speaker 3: It was doing a little virality on the internet. Lincoln Riley,
- 8:48Speaker 3: keep an eye on it going into the office. Now
- 8:51Speaker 3: I feel like Pate's going on every show. He's not
- 8:53Speaker 3: only holding the grenade, he's letting it off on any
- 8:56Speaker 3: show he goes on. Because you think the time is
- 8:58Speaker 3: just up now with Lincoln Riley. Or do you think
- 9:00Speaker 3: the time is up?
- 9:02Speaker 2: I think probably the time is up. I think the
- 9:04Speaker 2: only thing that would stand in the way, and I'm
- 9:06Speaker 2: not sure this is a barrier, but if there's a barrier,
- 9:09Speaker 2: it would just be the size of the buyout. But
- 9:12Speaker 2: I have heard from some people, if they wanted to
- 9:14Speaker 2: make a move, that the buyout wouldn't be prohibitive, even
- 9:18Speaker 2: though the buyout, I think it's north of 70. It's
- 9:20Speaker 2: a private school, but people are pretty loose out there
- 9:23Speaker 2: with information. And so I think they would make a
- 9:26Speaker 2: move on him. So I was doing, I was with
- 9:28Speaker 2: Rich Eisen yesterday. I was on his show and I said,
- 9:31Speaker 2: I think he's done there. And Rich was like surprised
- 9:33Speaker 2: by it. He said, wow, he's only got one loss.
- 9:36Speaker 2: But to me, right at this moment where we are
- 9:38Speaker 2: is the same spot we were last year when Oregon
- 9:41Speaker 2: went to Penn State and beat Penn State. And we
- 9:44Speaker 2: had sat here and the whole world had sat out
- 9:46Speaker 2: there and they had said, this is the year for
- 9:48Speaker 2: James Franklin. This is the year for Penn State. We
- 9:51Speaker 2: finally have a roster and have what it takes to
- 9:53Speaker 2: get over the hump, not just run into the hump
- 9:56Speaker 2: and then you know, drift backwards again. But there's going
- 9:59Speaker 2: to be a referendum game. It's going to be the
- 10:01Speaker 2: Oregon game. They got to come here. New quarterback, young roster.
- 10:05Speaker 2: We've got a veteran-laden roster. We got Drew Aller back.
- 10:08Speaker 2: All the stuff we said. And then Penn State lost
- 10:10Speaker 2: that game. You remember the effect it had on Penn State.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It was a loss, but it was way more than
- 10:15Speaker 2: just one loss. The collateral damage that rippled off that
- 10:17Speaker 2: loss ended up derailing their season and they go to
- 10:20Speaker 2: UCLA and lose and they lose to Northwestern. And within
- 10:23Speaker 2: three weeks, James Franklin's out of a job. So if you,
- 10:26Speaker 2: if you knew the Penn state situation, you knew that
- 10:29Speaker 2: loss was worth more in impact than just a normal loss.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Because of the ramifications. So this year's version of that,
- 10:37Speaker 2: I think, is Oregon going to USC and doing what
- 10:39Speaker 2: they did the other night. Like, yes, it's a loss.
- 10:42Speaker 2: It's one in the loss column. It's one in the
- 10:44Speaker 2: conference standings. But if you know the USC situation, all
- 10:47Speaker 2: those people's viewpoint was, we're half a decade in. We've
- 10:51Speaker 2: given him five years. He's in, I think, his third
- 10:53Speaker 2: defensive coordinator now. So we've given him plenty of runway
- 10:57Speaker 2: to hire multiple guys. We just signed number one recruiting class.
- 11:00Speaker 2: We just opened new facilities. Everything this guy could possibly need,
- 11:04Speaker 2: including time, we've given him. So now he's got to
- 11:09Speaker 2: deliver for us. And the referendum game is going to
- 11:11Speaker 2: be the Oregon game. And Oregon came in, and the
- 11:15Speaker 2: whole thing happening with Dante Moore, what you thought about
- 11:17Speaker 2: the hit or the theatrics aside, the fact is Oregon
- 11:20Speaker 2: played most of the game with their backup quarterback. And
- 11:22Speaker 2: they still beat you by double digits in your own building.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And they sold out the Coliseum. Everyone was hating on
- 11:28Speaker 2: USC early in the year. Fans not showing up. Well,
- 11:31Speaker 2: the fans showed up, and that's what they got delivered
- 11:34Speaker 2: to them. So how would you feel?
- 11:36Speaker 1: Yeah. You told me two things there. One, it seems
- 11:38Speaker 1: like Oregon is the Grim Reaper on coaches on the fence,
- 11:40Speaker 1: which is very scary. And then bringing up Franklin, I believe,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I don't know if this is 100% correct, but you
- 11:45Speaker 1: were kind of standing there being like, don't get rid
- 11:48Speaker 1: of Franklin.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:50Speaker 1: In the middle of the season.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Kind of because that started the chaos coaching carousel that
- 11:55Speaker 1: took place. Are you in that same thought process with
- 12:00Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley? Like, hey, we got to keep him to
- 12:01Speaker 1: the end of the season. Or if it derails the
- 12:03Speaker 1: way that Penn State derailed last year, losing to inferior
- 12:06Speaker 1: opponents back-to-back weeks after that big loss. Do you think
- 12:10Speaker 1: they should make a move?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Well, so you can't make a move now because I
- 12:12Speaker 2: could be wrong and they could pull the nose up.
- 12:14Speaker 2: But my feeling is I'm not wrong. My feeling is
- 12:17Speaker 2: more losses are coming. They won't be a playoff team.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Whenever that realization sinks in, I guess, is when you
- 12:24Speaker 2: would think about making the move. Now, everybody in the
- 12:26Speaker 2: industry knows Kalen DeBoer is going to be the guy
- 12:28Speaker 2: they go after. Have no idea whether Kalen DeBoer takes
- 12:31Speaker 2: the job because the whole thinking the whole time was
- 12:34Speaker 2: whether you're Michigan, whether you're USC, the thinking was, it
- 12:39Speaker 2: won't be stable at Alabama. You're just kind of gaming
- 12:42Speaker 2: the thing out. He won't get it rectified to the
- 12:45Speaker 2: point where they're happy that he has followed up Nick
- 12:48Speaker 2: Saban and they're off to the races. Well, it's early,
- 12:51Speaker 2: but Bama looks really good right now. Maybe they're off
- 12:53Speaker 2: to the races. At the very least, it's not unstable there.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So who knows what that looks like? But I'm just
- 12:59Speaker 2: telling you, their number one will be make Kalen DeBoer
- 13:01Speaker 2: tell us no, if they make that move. And then
- 13:04Speaker 2: if he tells them no beyond that, I got no
- 13:07Speaker 2: clue what it looks like. But that's the one we
- 13:09Speaker 2: sat here in preseason. And I said, that's the one
- 13:11Speaker 2: that everybody who thinks it may be a little bit
- 13:14Speaker 2: of a quiet coaching carousel year always caveats it with.
- 13:19Speaker 2: But if USC opens, throw everything I just said out
- 13:22Speaker 2: the window, because if USC opens, that's like the domino.
- 13:25Speaker 2: That's like the asteroid in the ocean that creates the
- 13:28Speaker 2: tidal wave. And it could go crazy like it did
- 13:30Speaker 2: last year. But he's got to lose more games for
- 13:33Speaker 2: that to happen.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 2: If he loses them, when does he lose them? Is
- 13:37Speaker 2: it like Penn State where it's immediate? Do they lose
- 13:39Speaker 2: to Washington this week, in other words? Or is it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: There's no way they lose to Washington.
- 13:42Speaker 2: There's no way that Penn State loses to UCLA last year,
- 13:44Speaker 2: and then they did. There's no way Penn State loses
- 13:47Speaker 2: to Northwestern. There's a way. Where there's a Lincoln, there's
- 13:50Speaker 2: a way. I promise you, there's a way. So we'll see.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but the thing that scares me about USC is
- 13:56Speaker 1: like number one recruiting class in this past cycle, they
- 13:59Speaker 1: have their best talent is all freshmen that have like
- 14:03Speaker 1: an alliance to USC, but there's the NIL category. And
- 14:05Speaker 1: so if their coach that they chose gets pulled out
- 14:08Speaker 1: of the system and you do put a great coach
- 14:09Speaker 1: in there like Kaelin DeBoers, you know, throw the ball
- 14:10Speaker 1: over the field.
- 14:11Speaker 2: This is a great point.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Then what takes place?
- 14:13Speaker 2: This is a great point.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Like if you look at it from a booster standpoint,
- 14:15Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, maybe Lincoln Riley is not our long-term answer. However,
- 14:19Speaker 1: they have a great nucleus of young talent there. that
- 14:22Speaker 1: maybe Penn State didn't have last year. They had all upperclassmen,
- 14:25Speaker 1: dudes that were going to go to the NFL the
- 14:26Speaker 1: next year, so you didn't really know what Penn State
- 14:28Speaker 1: was going to be after that.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:29Speaker 3: But they still took a lot of players. Franklin still
- 14:32Speaker 3: got a lot of players.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Franklin got a lot of players.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Do you think the relationship that Franklin had, you kind
- 14:37Speaker 3: of saw the relationship that Franklin had with a lot
- 14:39Speaker 3: of those guys at Penn State. You think Lincoln Riley
- 14:41Speaker 3: would have the same type of relationship with those guys
- 14:44Speaker 3: at USC? When they have him, it's like, At least
- 14:46Speaker 3: Franklin had won a playoff game, right?
- 14:49Speaker 1: They won a– Yeah. Four, right?
- 14:51Speaker 2: They were in the semifinals.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they were in the semifinals.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And they also went to the Big Ten Championship that
- 14:56Speaker 3: year before when they lost to Oregon.
- 14:57Speaker 1: There's championship success.
- 14:59Speaker 3: There to where I feel like you're almost dying for
- 15:02Speaker 3: that coach a little bit more than USC who hasn't
- 15:04Speaker 3: really done anything with Lincoln Riley there.
- 15:06Speaker 1: There's still a world where they chose that coach, and
- 15:08Speaker 1: there's still some sort of relation. Oh, there's a smirk.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I don't think they chose Lincoln at all.
- 15:14Speaker 1: What did they choose?
- 15:14Speaker 2: I think they chose Chris Brown concerts. They chose USC.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Whatever you feel about Chris Brown. Who knows? Maybe I
- 15:20Speaker 2: don't like Chris Brown. But if I want to play
- 15:22Speaker 2: in Southern California, you've got a new GM in there.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I really like the vibes off the program. I'm there
- 15:28Speaker 2: whether Lincoln's there or not. I think I strongly believe
- 15:34Speaker 2: that most of that freshman class, at the very least,
- 15:36Speaker 2: which is most of the ones they would want to
- 15:37Speaker 2: keep around anyway, they committed knowing Lincoln Riley was the
- 15:40Speaker 2: head coach there. I don't think they committed to Lincoln Riley.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I don't think you would have a lot of roster
- 15:45Speaker 2: upheaval at all, especially if they had, we're getting way
- 15:48Speaker 2: down the road here, obviously, but especially if they had
- 15:50Speaker 2: a really functional, well-calibrated, well-orchestrated coaching search, I don't think
- 15:58Speaker 2: you'd have roster attrition. I don't think you'd have unwanted
- 16:01Speaker 2: roster attrition at all.
- 16:03Speaker 1: To keep that cohesive unit together, the move would be
- 16:07Speaker 1: to make that transition before the season ended.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I think so.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Because then it's not, not that you do, you can't
- 16:14Speaker 1: get your hands on the kids and be like, Hey, well,
- 16:15Speaker 1: trust me, we're going to bring a guy in here.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Like if you do it in the middle of October,
- 16:19Speaker 1: then you have a couple of months before that transfer
- 16:21Speaker 1: portal opens up to get the right guy and have
- 16:24Speaker 1: him sell the players on everything. So that would be
- 16:27Speaker 1: the positive to Lincoln Riley.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Now here's the, here's the counter in case he's watching
- 16:31Speaker 2: and he can't speak for himself. They could finish 11
- 16:33Speaker 2: and one. For all we know, this is this inflection point.
- 16:37Speaker 2: It was a wake-up call. They tasted their own blood.
- 16:40Speaker 2: They're going to beat Ohio State. They're going to beat Indiana.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I certainly don't think that's going to happen, but it
- 16:44Speaker 2: could happen. Lincoln Riley could end up looking like the
- 16:47Speaker 2: evil villain that fooled everybody, and he's playing in the
- 16:50Speaker 2: Big Ten Championship game in December. That could happen. That's
- 16:53Speaker 2: in the cards. Far more cards in the deck indicate
- 16:56Speaker 2: that maybe a move coming down the road.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe he's not this year's James Franklin. And speaking
- 17:00Speaker 3: of James Franklin busting a pit on campus, Blacksburg, Virginia,
- 17:03Speaker 3: we're going to get to witness the rebirth. But the
- 17:06Speaker 3: boys are going to be there. What's the name of
- 17:08Speaker 3: the spot again?
- 17:09Speaker 2: Hokie Village.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Hokie Village. We'll be there 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern time.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Come check the boys out. I know there's a lot
- 17:16Speaker 3: of good juice going into Virginia Tech right now.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Massive game. ACC game of the week. ACC game of
- 17:21Speaker 2: the week.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Taylor, I know you had a question you wanted to
- 17:25Speaker 3: bring up.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah. I saw your SEC top quarterbacks. The one that
- 17:31Speaker 1: came out that was really high to me was Austin Simmons.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I think he's a great guy. He throws beautiful football.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Clearly started over Trinidad Chambliss last year at Ole Miss
- 17:38Speaker 1: before he got injured. And yesterday... I took a screenshot
- 17:42Speaker 1: of that and I sent it to Cody Graves just
- 17:44Speaker 1: between the two of us.
- 17:44Speaker 2: So you screenshot that yesterday.
- 17:46Speaker 1: I screenshot it myself. I walked in this morning and
- 17:49Speaker 1: it was like. And I'm sitting there, I'm like, is
- 17:51Speaker 1: there something I'm missing on Austin Simmons? Because like, there's
- 17:57Speaker 1: a lot of picks out there that haven't been picks.
- 17:59Speaker 1: There's a lot of tips and overthrows that have taken
- 18:01Speaker 1: place in the middle of the field that are like,
- 18:03Speaker 1: From a stat standpoint, they're not there. Now, this is
- 18:06Speaker 1: not my war because I thought Will had a great argument.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I see a couple quarterbacks that I'd probably put in
- 18:11Speaker 1: front of him. I mean, number five, I would definitely
- 18:12Speaker 1: put Gunnar Stockton ahead of him. But Cody Graves was
- 18:15Speaker 1: kind of... He got the shovel out and started digging.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you're kind of throwing Cody Graves in the grave. No, no, no.
- 18:21Speaker 3: You also said you're like, I have Austin Simmons at seven. Like,
- 18:24Speaker 3: you were kind of making it your war a little bit.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Six or seven. Because you're like, hey, where do you like?
- 18:28Speaker 2: Because Philo. Philo's kind of nice.
- 18:29Speaker 1: They don't ask Philo to do a whole lot, but
- 18:31Speaker 1: he can push the ball down the field. He's got
- 18:32Speaker 1: a lot of talent around him. Sam Levitt, yeah, he's
- 18:34Speaker 1: got a lot of picks, but that kid can ball.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Wait a second.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Wait a second.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Wait a second. Wait a second. Wait a second. No, no, listen.
- 18:40Speaker 2: This is not my argument.
- 18:41Speaker 1: This is Cody Graves.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Oh, definitely. No, you're not animated at all right now.
- 18:44Speaker 1: This is Cody, dude. Cody's saying all these things.
- 18:45Speaker 2: So you're telling me interceptions from Sam Levitt that have
- 18:49Speaker 2: happened are, yeah, whatever. You're telling me interceptions that theoretically
- 18:54Speaker 2: in an alternate universe could have happened, but didn't with Simmons.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I need to basically just bake into a stat profile
- 19:00Speaker 2: as if the guy's a 50%, seven and seven type
- 19:03Speaker 2: completion kind of guy. I think.
- 19:07Speaker 1: When you look at it and you see balls bounce
- 19:09Speaker 1: out of the defender's hands and there's tips and things
- 19:11Speaker 1: might not happen, It's like, yeah, statistically, it's not there.
- 19:15Speaker 1: But when you see the issues, those things have a
- 19:18Speaker 1: tendency to rear its ugly head.
- 19:20Speaker 2: So you're talking down the road.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on. This is not... Austin Simmons can
- 19:24Speaker 1: throw the ball, bro. This is not the world I'm
- 19:27Speaker 1: trying to live in where I am now saying Austin
- 19:29Speaker 1: Simmons sucks. I think Austin Simmons is a great quarterback.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I think he's a little high. Gunnar Stockton should be
- 19:35Speaker 1: higher than him.
- 19:37Speaker 3: When I came in, it was, hey, you saw... you
- 19:40Speaker 3: saw Paige rankings of the SEC quarterbacks. They're like, what
- 19:43Speaker 3: do you think about Austin Simmons? I was like, I
- 19:45Speaker 3: like Austin. I was like, I'll probably have Gunnar over him,
- 19:47Speaker 3: but I kind of like, like Austin's nice. And the
- 19:50Speaker 3: Graveyard and the Luan just duo. They're boom, hooks, left
- 19:55Speaker 3: and right. They're talking about Sam Leavitt, Arch Manning, Aaron Filo.
- 19:58Speaker 3: They're talking about Arch Manning? Yes.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Is that what just came out of your mouth? Yes, bro.
- 20:02Speaker 2: And you're just delivering what you heard this morning.
- 20:04Speaker 1: So this is, this is propaganda right now. Is that propaganda?
- 20:09Speaker 1: Who is in the room?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Is that propaganda?
- 20:11Speaker 1: I actually did not bring up Arch Manning in the conversation.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I sat there and I saw you and Cody Graves
- 20:15Speaker 1: argue about it. I sat there and I was like, yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I think Austin Simmons should be a little lower on
- 20:20Speaker 1: that list. You had Aaron Filo, Sam Leavitt. No, I
- 20:22Speaker 1: said for sure Gunnar Stockton. I can see Filo. And
- 20:26Speaker 1: then I did have a hesitation and a pause on
- 20:29Speaker 1: Sam Leavitt because... the picks are really there. And UL Monroe,
- 20:34Speaker 1: it's like, we said we could throw that out the trash. Well,
- 20:35Speaker 1: there's three picks right there. But even that, like the
- 20:38Speaker 1: first half of Ole Miss, like it hasn't been phenomenal.
- 20:40Speaker 1: He has been injured. So yeah, I could see, I
- 20:44Speaker 1: could see Simmons sitting in that five, six spot. And
- 20:46Speaker 1: that's progress because he was six, seven. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 1: But I did not bring up Arch Manning at all.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I did not bring up Arch Manning. We wanted to
- 20:57Speaker 1: know the criteria. That's propaganda.
- 21:00Speaker 4: We want to know the criteria. If you were to
- 21:04Speaker 4: draft a team to try to win the national championship,
- 21:06Speaker 4: this is how you would have them ranked. If Chambliss,
- 21:10Speaker 4: Kamario Taylor, and Keelan Russell are off the board, you're
- 21:13Speaker 4: taking Austin Simmons to go try to win a national championship.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I am judging it based on their body of work
- 21:17Speaker 2: so far this year. But you could also phrase it
- 21:19Speaker 2: like that. Based on what I've seen, if I have
- 21:23Speaker 2: a loaded team. Let me put it this way. If
- 21:25Speaker 2: I put Austin Simmons on Texas.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Buddy, they're double digits, and it's a sleepy fourth quarter
- 21:32Speaker 2: against Tennessee. I'm not crazy high.
- 21:36Speaker 1: They didn't have 10 penalties for over 100 yards in
- 21:39Speaker 1: the sleepy fourth quarter. Like, Texas made that game closer
- 21:42Speaker 1: than it had to be.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Tennessee had some bad situational penalties. But I could go
- 21:45Speaker 2: past the Tennessee game. At what point this year have
- 21:48Speaker 2: you looked at Arch Manning and said, well, there it is.
- 21:50Speaker 2: There's that top three. There's that top four. Listen. The
- 21:53Speaker 2: comeback against Ohio State. That's what you would be looking at, right?
- 21:57Speaker 1: Prevent defense. Easier to throw the ball down the road.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Playground football.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:01Speaker 2: So when else, like if I change the name, I
- 22:04Speaker 2: change the logo, if that's Marcel Reed's body of work
- 22:08Speaker 2: this year, I probably still put him a little high.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Like you could make the argument, because if we did
- 22:13Speaker 2: that whole what if game, Jared Curtis is Vanderbilt right now.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Like Jared Curtis, they got nothing. And he is dragging
- 22:21Speaker 2: a roster with him. And that dude's showing like week
- 22:24Speaker 2: over week improvement. If I put him with Those tailbacks
- 22:28Speaker 2: and Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo and all those dudes,
- 22:30Speaker 2: I guarantee you Jared Curtis would be one of the
- 22:33Speaker 2: talks of the first half of the SEC. Wow. It's
- 22:37Speaker 2: not there.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Texas is a defensive-oriented team right now.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Cody?
- 22:45Speaker 2: I mean, here's what I got out of Cody.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I said, do you like Austin Simmons or not? Because
- 22:49Speaker 3: we can start there. Because when he started to bring
- 22:51Speaker 3: Arch Manning in the conversation, I'm like, bro, they're playing
- 22:54Speaker 3: two different games right now. And he ends up saying
- 22:56Speaker 3: he doesn't like Austin Simmons.
- 22:57Speaker 4: No, that's not what was said. I said, what have
- 22:59Speaker 4: we seen Austin Simmons do? We haven't seen him make
- 23:01Speaker 4: throws in a second half to win a meaningful football game.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Dude, I watched that Mississippi State game last week. He
- 23:07Speaker 2: slung it last week. Yeah, he slung it. He lost
- 23:09Speaker 2: the game. Yeah. And that's why he's not higher than four.
- 23:12Speaker 2: But like if it'd be one thing, I don't mind
- 23:14Speaker 2: if you put Gunnar above him because that's well within
- 23:17Speaker 2: the frame of like arguability. I did that yesterday. I
- 23:20Speaker 2: thought about putting him as low as six, as high
- 23:22Speaker 2: as four. I erred on the higher side, but that's
- 23:26Speaker 2: like that's that shades of gray past that, though. I
- 23:30Speaker 2: look at Leavitt, I look at Menchie, Arch Manning, Jared Curtis,
- 23:33Speaker 2: certainly anyone below him, and I haven't seen them do
- 23:37Speaker 2: anything to me that would supersede, even if there are
- 23:40Speaker 2: interceptable balls, the fact that they haven't been picked. He's
- 23:43Speaker 2: 11-0 right now, right? 11 touchdowns, no interceptions? Yeah. And
- 23:47Speaker 2: the game that he played, like he just happened to
- 23:49Speaker 2: be unfortunate enough to be on the same field as
- 23:51Speaker 2: Kamario Taylor last week. But that was the game of
- 23:54Speaker 2: the week. I don't know how many people watched it
- 23:55Speaker 2: because it was on SEC Network. But I think that
- 23:58Speaker 2: dude's played really well. Now, he's played four games. So
- 24:02Speaker 2: if what you're saying is true, law of averages catches
- 24:04Speaker 2: up with him and he has like a one touchdown,
- 24:07Speaker 2: three pick stat line coming up. Well, then we can
- 24:09Speaker 2: reflect it in the rankings. But those aren't predictive. Those
- 24:11Speaker 2: are reactive. That's just kind of what I've seen so far.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Cody?
- 24:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I think my argument was we haven't seen it. Like,
- 24:17Speaker 4: could he be in this spot at the end of
- 24:19Speaker 4: the year?
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe.
- 24:20Speaker 4: But even a guy like Sam Levitt, who you might
- 24:22Speaker 4: be lower on, we've seen him be a gamer and
- 24:25Speaker 4: win games in the second half, whether it was Texas
- 24:28Speaker 4: Tech last year when he was at ASU, where it's.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Like, hey, we don't know how Austin Simmons reacts. To
- 24:34Speaker 5: be clear, this is just this year. So, like, everybody
- 24:36Speaker 5: started as if I've never met them in my life.
- 24:38Speaker 5: And so with Levitt, his best, if I were to
- 24:42Speaker 5: just package up his best— he would fit somewhere in
- 24:45Speaker 5: the 1-3 range.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I got to factor in the streakiness, too. I also
- 24:49Speaker 2: got to factor in the injury stuff, which is not
- 24:50Speaker 2: his fault, but it affects who he is right now.
- 24:53Speaker 1: He put this graphic in a vacuum, dude. Yeah, and
- 24:55Speaker 1: that's fair.
- 24:56Speaker 2: That's fair criteria talk.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Kenny Minchie?
- 25:00Speaker 2: Kenny looks okay. I did make one comment we need
- 25:03Speaker 2: to address about Vanderbilt. They do have the best left
- 25:06Speaker 2: guard in college.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they do have the best left guard in college football.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I came equipped. So far, zero catches, zero rushes. It's early,
- 25:19Speaker 2: but zero catches, zero rushes. So the guy, theoretically, that
- 25:22Speaker 2: he'd be getting the ball to, not so great. They
- 25:25Speaker 2: still pushed Auburn last week, though. Plus nine and a half,
- 25:28Speaker 2: Ramen Noodle Express. Ramen Noodle Express has been cooking right now.
- 25:32Speaker 2: We're riding Austin Simmons. That's a hit or miss proposition, actually.
- 25:37Speaker 2: The conversation of Austin Sims come up. Let's do Florida
- 25:39Speaker 2: at Missouri. Florida, a couple big games in a row.
- 25:42Speaker 2: They're favored by... What? Oh, you want to do the...
- 25:47Speaker 2: The Ford leaderboard? Let's not skip past that.
- 25:49Speaker 1: This Ford leaderboard segment is presented by... Ford! A hard
- 25:54Speaker 1: day's work starts with one thing, and that's someone willing
- 25:57Speaker 1: to do it. And where there's a will, there's a
- 25:59Speaker 1: Ford F-Series truck. Built Ford, huh?
- 26:03Speaker 2: The four-liter board's bad.
- 26:05Speaker 1: The four-liter board is actually good and has some bad.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Josh Pate right now is in first place with 23.03 units.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I'm in second with 13.72. And then Will Compton, can
- 26:21Speaker 1: you read that? You know my eyes.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Negative 16.6. You're down 25% with Willie Ceef.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Not if you're fading.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Not if you're fading.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You went to week two and you're like, fade the boy.
- 26:33Speaker 1: So you've been doing a lot of people favors. I know.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Look, if I'm bad, I'd just rather be, like I
- 26:38Speaker 3: was saying, like if Josh Pate's in the lead, I
- 26:40Speaker 3: don't mind being the worst as long as my negative
- 26:42Speaker 3: units are more than his positive units.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Because at least I'm winning the audience more money. You
- 26:48Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 26:48Speaker 1: You're playing golf while everybody else is playing basketball. Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 2: All right. Could you say that sentence again? Because I
- 26:53Speaker 2: was halfway listening, I was reading. So I thought I
- 26:56Speaker 2: heard you say something, but then my mind says, there's
- 26:57Speaker 2: no way he just said that. So the strategy there,
- 27:01Speaker 2: as long as your negative units are more than my
- 27:05Speaker 2: positive units... you're comfortable. I'm not quite sure what that means.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Because if you tune in, you're up 34%, I'm down 25%.
- 27:15Speaker 3: But if you tune into this show and it's all,
- 27:18Speaker 3: I'm fading Will Compton, and I'm going to go the opposite.
- 27:22Speaker 3: If I was sitting at negative 36%, to me, I'm
- 27:25Speaker 3: winning the customer, the audience, the money.
- 27:26Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 27:27Speaker 3: Because you're tuning in Like, oh, this is Josh is
- 27:30Speaker 3: crushing it. And his boy taps and like, no, you
- 27:33Speaker 3: ain't seeing it clearly. You got to fade everything. Will
- 27:35Speaker 3: Compton says, cause you're going to make more money.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I get it now.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah. I get it now.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 2: It's pretty genius. And frankly, pretty benevolent of you too.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You don't have to do that. Yeah. You don't have
- 27:48Speaker 2: to do that. You could just try to win. That's
- 27:51Speaker 2: the thing is I am trying to win. But if I'm.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Gonna have a spin zone, that's a spin zone. Will's
- 27:56Speaker 1: playing a different game than the rest of us right now.
- 27:58Speaker 1: He's playing a different game. You and I have decided
- 28:00Speaker 1: to get on the same sport, the same court, and
- 28:03Speaker 1: you're doing much better. Will's like, no, I'm playing.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Singleton's playing? Under. Yes.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Love it. 17-6 at halftime. I did love Will's thought
- 28:12Speaker 1: process with the psychology, the research, all those things. All
- 28:16Speaker 1: of that seemed like it was very correct when I
- 28:18Speaker 1: looked at Florida being favored over Ole Miss last week.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And you said all the right things. The choice you
- 28:24Speaker 1: made at the end was insane. It was absolutely insane.
- 28:28Speaker 2: It was.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I love the fact that you drew a bath. What
- 28:30Speaker 1: does it say for Florida? What does it say for
- 28:33Speaker 1: Florida being favored minus four and a half after two
- 28:35Speaker 1: big games at Auburn? They beat Ole Miss, who had
- 28:38Speaker 1: a massive win against LSU. Is the psychology saying this
- 28:41Speaker 1: is a letdown spot? And that question, the second part
- 28:44Speaker 1: of that question is, is what is Florida's like, I guess,
- 28:48Speaker 1: like average game? Because they've looked phenomenal every single week
- 28:52Speaker 1: this season.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 28:53Speaker 1: That is the question that we have to kind of
- 28:55Speaker 1: look at right now. We've already talked about Austin Simmons.
- 28:58Speaker 3: You can't cross the sea by standing and staring at
- 29:02Speaker 3: the water.
- 29:04Speaker 2: That's true.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Mizzou's got to tackle. Yeah, they got to go. They're
- 29:10Speaker 3: averaging 13.5 missed tackles a game. All of a sudden,
- 29:13Speaker 3: I'm supposed to think Mizzou is going to be the
- 29:15Speaker 3: first team that makes Florida win by throwing the football?
- 29:20Speaker 3: It's hard to, like, I'm trying to find a little,
- 29:22Speaker 3: because Mizzou here, it's like they're plus four and a half. Now,
- 29:25Speaker 3: the things that Mizzou has going for them is it's homecoming.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Drink doesn't go quietly into the night in an afternoon
- 29:32Speaker 3: game with a big.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Dog coming to town.
- 29:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Um but And it's like, I like Austin Simmons. I
- 29:38Speaker 3: do think he slings the pill very well. Like he
- 29:40Speaker 3: has some inaccuracies, but the way he anticipate throws, the
- 29:44Speaker 3: way he is, he doesn't blink in the red zone.
- 29:46Speaker 3: He tries to hit the tight windows. A lot of
- 29:48Speaker 3: the times he does. Sometimes to your point, there could
- 29:51Speaker 3: be a lot of interceptions.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Going the other way.
- 29:53Speaker 1: But they're not.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Yeah. They don't have the run game that they've had
- 29:56Speaker 3: in the past. Like with Ahmad Hardy out and a
- 29:58Speaker 3: couple injuries, like they haven't been running the ball as
- 30:00Speaker 3: well as I know Mizzou and Drink would want them
- 30:02Speaker 3: to be running the ball well. So you're kind of
- 30:04Speaker 3: just hanging on to Austin Simmons. They are like plus
- 30:07Speaker 3: four in turnover margin. They do take the ball away,
- 30:09Speaker 3: but Florida takes the ball away as well. Another positive
- 30:12Speaker 3: for Mizzou with Florida coming into town is Florida averages
- 30:15Speaker 3: about 90 yards in penalties a game. They're a very
- 30:18Speaker 3: penalized football team. So homecoming afternoon game in Mizzou, massive,
- 30:23Speaker 3: massive win against Ole Miss. Those are the positives. I'm
- 30:27Speaker 3: going to take Florida here to cover. I do think
- 30:31Speaker 3: it could be. yeah it could be a one score
- 30:34Speaker 3: game but I'm gonna go Florida because I just gotta
- 30:37Speaker 3: buy the stock with Summerall right now like that picture
- 30:40Speaker 3: this being a linebacker on the second level Florida runs
- 30:42Speaker 3: the ball very well with with ball and who's the
- 30:45Speaker 3: who's the backup because he's got juice as well Duke
- 30:48Speaker 3: Clark Duke Clark like he's got some juice as well
- 30:51Speaker 3: but picture yourself as a backer where your entire focus
- 30:54Speaker 3: on the game is like hey we have to tackle
- 30:55Speaker 3: we have to stop the run They do great at
- 30:57Speaker 3: stretching it out.
- 30:58Speaker 2: They do great inside all the schemes that they do
- 31:00Speaker 2: running the football with ball.
- 31:01Speaker 3: And then the next moment, because when you're talking about Philo, he's,
- 31:06Speaker 3: he doesn't have to like win games through the air,
- 31:07Speaker 3: like downfield, a lot of things can be on the perimeter.
- 31:10Speaker 3: So when you got Brown and Wilson, Then when you're
- 31:13Speaker 3: trying to think so much as we have to stop
- 31:15Speaker 3: the run, a guard and a tackle slip out on
- 31:18Speaker 3: the edge and the perimeter, and you have to put
- 31:20Speaker 3: your foot in the ground as a linebacker to go
- 31:21Speaker 3: out wide against these guys who are incredible athletes, that
- 31:24Speaker 3: they're involved in the running game just as much as ball.
- 31:27Speaker 3: And I'm already fleeting with the backup with Clark. So
- 31:31Speaker 3: they have, like Florida has so much.
- 31:33Speaker 1: They have a lot of answers. Yes, they have a
- 31:34Speaker 1: lot of answers.
- 31:35Speaker 3: And Philo doesn't have to win downfield because they do
- 31:37Speaker 3: so well across the line of scrimmage all the way
- 31:40Speaker 3: out to the sidelines. Um, so I'm going to go
- 31:43Speaker 3: Florida here. I'm going to take them to cover. We'll
- 31:45Speaker 3: love to see Mizzou show up, make this a game.
- 31:49Speaker 3: I'd love to see Mizzou, um, get an upset here
- 31:52Speaker 3: and I'd love to see me lose, but I'm going
- 31:54Speaker 3: to go Florida with the points.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Units. How many units?
- 31:58Speaker 3: Um, we interrupt this episode to bring you neutral, neutral
- 32:03Speaker 3: tastes great. It tastes so much better than any other
- 32:06Speaker 3: vodka seltzer out there.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You know why?
- 32:08Speaker 3: Because I know these taste buds know pineapple, watermelon, black cherry,
- 32:11Speaker 3: to name a few flavors. Perfect for social occasions, and
- 32:14Speaker 3: it is such a crowd pleaser, especially during the summer
- 32:17Speaker 3: and even more especially during football season. Think on the
- 32:21Speaker 3: beach with friends, at a bar watching the game, at
- 32:23Speaker 3: your house watching with the boys. It's the perfect time
- 32:26Speaker 3: of year to grab a 12-pack of Neutral for the
- 32:28Speaker 3: beach or grab a bucket deal in your favorite bar
- 32:30Speaker 3: as you celebrate the summer and root on your favorite team.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Neutral, keep it tasty.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Wow. That was really good, dude.
- 32:38Speaker 1: All right, ladies and gentlemen, real quick, we're going to
- 32:39Speaker 1: take a small break from the show. I'm going to
- 32:40Speaker 1: show you something real quick. This is Lucy. This is espresso.
- 32:43Speaker 1: That's my number one, that little bite and burst, that
- 32:45Speaker 1: flavor that hits you. That's how you know the Lucys
- 32:47Speaker 1: are hitting right now. I usually use it to focus,
- 32:49Speaker 1: whether it's a pre-workout, post-workout, doesn't matter if I'm on
- 32:52Speaker 1: the computer. I put a couple of these boys in
- 32:54Speaker 1: and I lock in. They also go up to 12 milligrams.
- 32:57Speaker 1: So if you need a little extra hit in you,
- 32:59Speaker 1: they got it for you. The thing I love about
- 33:00Speaker 1: the most about them is They're not some big tobacco
- 33:03Speaker 1: company playing dress-up. This is like a family-owned establishment. That's
- 33:06Speaker 1: what I love about them. Right now, you can go
- 33:09Speaker 1: to lucy.co forward slash locker room. Use code locker room
- 33:13Speaker 1: to get 20% off. Let me give you this fine
- 33:15Speaker 1: print real quick. We'll get you out of here. Lucy
- 33:17Speaker 1: products are for adults of legal age. Every customer is
- 33:19Speaker 1: age verified. Warning, this product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an
- 33:21Speaker 1: addictive chemical. Let's get back to this episode. Let's go
- 33:26Speaker 1: four on this.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 33:30Speaker 1: How do you feel about that?
- 33:31Speaker 2: Nine seconds to go four units. That was good, though.
- 33:34Speaker 2: That was good. It would have been a shame if
- 33:36Speaker 2: anyone interrupted.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I wish he put two units on it because history
- 33:39Speaker 1: has shown throughout the course of the short amount of
- 33:41Speaker 1: only four weeks sample size is when Will goes lower
- 33:44Speaker 1: on units, that's when he hits.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yep.
- 33:47Speaker 1: And when you go higher is kind of when the
- 33:48Speaker 1: situation of failure takes place. So if he would have
- 33:52Speaker 1: gone two, because I like Florida as well. For all
- 33:55Speaker 1: the reasons you brought up, I just think Florida is
- 33:57Speaker 1: a much more complete team.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I am.
- 33:59Speaker 1: so fired up watching that offensive line. And I just love...
- 34:04Speaker 1: What's the OC? Buster Faulkner. Buster Faulkner, who we've talked
- 34:08Speaker 1: about three times even before the show. Like, the wide
- 34:11Speaker 1: zone taking place, getting linebackers to move east and west,
- 34:14Speaker 1: getting the penetrating defensive lines to move east and west,
- 34:17Speaker 1: and then hitting with duo. You just see the line
- 34:18Speaker 1: of scrimmage absolutely moving. Like, the most leakage we saw
- 34:22Speaker 1: from that offensive line was in the Auburn game, but
- 34:24Speaker 1: that is more just how aggressive that defense is.
- 34:28Speaker 2: It's like.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Ball has like three yards into the line of scrimmage
- 34:32Speaker 1: before he has to make somebody miss. And that's always
- 34:34Speaker 1: just a recipe for success. I think they're going to
- 34:38Speaker 1: continue the elite run game. And when it comes to
- 34:41Speaker 1: the psychology, which I really fell in love with that
- 34:44Speaker 1: whole entire thought process because it really showed up, even
- 34:47Speaker 1: though the result of what you wanted didn't. And I
- 34:50Speaker 1: just think when it comes to those types of things,
- 34:52Speaker 1: what fixes a lot of that psychology is the ability
- 34:54Speaker 1: to lean on five guys that play as a cohesive unit.
- 34:58Speaker 1: And they just really own the line. They just own
- 35:00Speaker 1: it consistently throughout all four quarters. And that to me
- 35:03Speaker 1: is just... You can hold tempo in the game. You
- 35:06Speaker 1: can hold time of possession. You can sit back and protect.
- 35:10Speaker 1: It opens up so much of the playbook for you
- 35:12Speaker 1: when you have a running game the way they do.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I think Philo, when he's asked to take shots down
- 35:16Speaker 1: the field, he does a great job of it. And
- 35:19Speaker 1: then from a rush standpoint, they got that. They got the–
- 35:21Speaker 1: who's the kid?
- 35:23Speaker 2: Hopkins.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Dayton Hopkins. He got six sacks in the year. He's
- 35:26Speaker 1: a freshman. Like he was terrorizing Kamario Taylor in this
- 35:29Speaker 1: last game. But as much as I'm high on Florida's
- 35:33Speaker 1: offensive line, I'm that much more down on Mississippi State's
- 35:35Speaker 1: offensive line. And so I think they're going to handle
- 35:38Speaker 1: business well there. He had three and a half sacks
- 35:39Speaker 1: versus that team. I love Florida in this position. I
- 35:43Speaker 1: love four and a half. I'm going to take Florida
- 35:47Speaker 1: minus four and a half. I'll go three units on that.
- 35:50Speaker 1: The thing that gives me the most hesitation is how
- 35:51Speaker 1: many units you put on.
- 35:52Speaker 3: I know, I know.
- 35:54Speaker 1: You were right, though. Yeah. Go ahead, Josh.
- 35:57Speaker 2: I don't want to just dominate. Yeah. A lot of
- 36:01Speaker 2: men wax poetically. Okay, I want to put out a warning. Uh-oh.
- 36:05Speaker 2: If both of you are right, and if Florida wins,
- 36:08Speaker 2: and let's say they won going away, I think we're
- 36:12Speaker 2: on the precipice of something really dangerous, a narrative starting
- 36:16Speaker 2: to take shape. So I want you to stop me
- 36:19Speaker 2: where you've heard this before. Team that was offensively challenged
- 36:24Speaker 2: makes some changes and then they start really, really scaling
- 36:30Speaker 2: really hard in the SEC. And week over week, you
- 36:34Speaker 2: keep thinking, oh, well, this is the week they come
- 36:36Speaker 2: back to earth. But with the trio of wide receivers
- 36:38Speaker 2: and a quarterback that's just caught fire and really good
- 36:41Speaker 2: tailback too, they just keep scaling and keep scaling. And defensively,
- 36:45Speaker 2: they're not great, but they can be opportunistic. And every week,
- 36:49Speaker 2: the numbers look like four and a half, five and
- 36:51Speaker 2: a half, and they keep winning by 17 and 20.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I think, I'm not saying I will believe this, but
- 36:57Speaker 2: I think we're on the precipice of one more week
- 37:00Speaker 2: of that happening. And people go LSU 2019 on Florida
- 37:04Speaker 2: because LSU 2019 in the rear view mirror, you could
- 37:08Speaker 2: consider one of, if not the greatest teams of all time.
- 37:11Speaker 2: But I remember what it was like during the season.
- 37:13Speaker 2: And during the season, everyone kept asking, when is this
- 37:17Speaker 2: going to go off the rails? First off, they kept saying, well,
- 37:19Speaker 2: eventually they'll have to play Bama, but then they beat Alabama.
- 37:22Speaker 2: And then they were off to the races. But the
- 37:24Speaker 2: first quarter, first half of the season, people kept looking
- 37:27Speaker 2: and they couldn't quite figure them out. So people are
- 37:30Speaker 2: going to make that comparison. If both of you are
- 37:32Speaker 2: right now, my instinct tells me we got a wounded
- 37:36Speaker 2: animal in Missouri coming home, homecoming. I didn't even know that.
- 37:39Speaker 2: So it's homecoming at Missouri. You know what that means?
- 37:42Speaker 2: And then you've got a double do down Florida going
- 37:45Speaker 2: on the road, getting all this praise heaped on them.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Commissioner's poll, top 10 AP poll, top 10. Will he,
- 37:51Speaker 2: will he, will he, is it come out this week?
- 37:53Speaker 2: Will he see top 25?
- 37:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Just top 25.
- 37:55Speaker 2: No, no.
- 37:56Speaker 1: They're Florida's top 10.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Where are they? I think eight. Oh, so everyone has
- 37:59Speaker 2: them eight. You might as well be an AP voter.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I might as well.
- 38:04Speaker 1: They need to hit me up.
- 38:06Speaker 2: It's a spot where they should be due down. It's
- 38:08Speaker 2: a spot where you should look in the third quarter
- 38:09Speaker 2: and say, boy, man, Florida's got their hands full this week.
- 38:12Speaker 2: That should happen. But I don't have enough confidence that
- 38:14Speaker 2: that will happen. What I have confidence in is ESPN
- 38:17Speaker 2: stats and information. And they have reliably informed me that
- 38:21Speaker 2: there are 17 FBS players with 300 plus receiving yards
- 38:26Speaker 2: and four plus touchdowns this year. 17 of them across
- 38:29Speaker 2: our entire fruited plane. Missouri's the only team with two
- 38:32Speaker 2: of those players. Furthermore, Florida, we've all seen them. They've
- 38:36Speaker 2: hung 40-plus every week. They're top 20 in rush yards
- 38:40Speaker 2: per game, explosive plays per game. At this point, I
- 38:42Speaker 2: just think they're going to get theirs against everyone because
- 38:45Speaker 2: much like Joe Brady 2019, Buster Faulkner 2026, he's like
- 38:50Speaker 2: the talk of the sport because of what his offense
- 38:53Speaker 2: is presenting. It's the antithesis of, remember the way you
- 38:56Speaker 2: talked about Mississippi State a couple of weeks ago? You
- 38:58Speaker 2: said Camario Taylor's a stud. This offense isn't hard to
- 39:01Speaker 2: figure out. He's a hard player to stop. Well, Faulkner
- 39:04Speaker 2: and what he's doing at Florida, total opposite end of
- 39:06Speaker 2: the spectrum. Through four or five weeks, people are saying,
- 39:09Speaker 2: that dude could be an NFL offensive coordinator. Maybe NFL
- 39:12Speaker 2: teams will be calling him. So I think they're going
- 39:14Speaker 2: to get theirs against everyone. And they're offering me 56
- 39:18Speaker 2: and a half? Just like last week, I had Trinidad Chambliss,
- 39:22Speaker 2: Aaron Filo. I had those two offenses, defenses that are very,
- 39:25Speaker 2: very vulnerable in the secondary. They gave me 58 and
- 39:27Speaker 2: a half. This is the easiest call of the week.
- 39:29Speaker 2: So I'm going to pivot. I'm going to slap the
- 39:32Speaker 2: table again. And I'm going to go over 56 and
- 39:34Speaker 2: a half as my five unit better.
- 39:37Speaker 1: That's a good play. It's a good play.
- 39:40Speaker 2: No weather concerns.
- 39:41Speaker 1: It's a good play.
- 39:44Speaker 2: First half under. Game over. Maybe.
- 39:47Speaker 1: We're playing the same. You're playing a different game, and
- 39:49Speaker 1: I'm with you. It makes me nervous. But both things
- 39:53Speaker 1: covered last week. The over and Florida.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Five slapper.
- 39:58Speaker 2: A five slapper.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I'm hoping Missouri's competitive. I got it.
- 40:02Speaker 2: That's a home state.
- 40:03Speaker 1: There's a level of bias in Missouri. Of course.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Well, they do have the quarterback edge in this game.
- 40:07Speaker 3: And they got a coach I know very well. Like,
- 40:09Speaker 3: I'm shooting him. Like, hey, are they as advertised?
- 40:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Skill players are very good. I was like, I'm trying
- 40:14Speaker 3: to find hope on why I should pick you guys.
- 40:16Speaker 3: We are a good pick. I like where our team
- 40:18Speaker 3: is at. That ain't enough.
- 40:20Speaker 1: That's not it. That's the opposite of a Dan Lanning
- 40:23Speaker 1: speech right there. That ain't enough for me.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Do you think John Summerall's down there looking at their
- 40:29Speaker 2: performance so far and saying, man, we got issues, but
- 40:33Speaker 2: we keep winning. And I'm trying to convince these guys
- 40:36Speaker 2: we got issues, but as long as we keep winning,
- 40:38Speaker 2: they're not going to be convinced. And he's waiting for
- 40:41Speaker 2: the hiccup. Or do you think he's just as all
- 40:43Speaker 2: in as everyone else? And he's like, dude, we're going
- 40:44Speaker 2: 16 and 0.
- 40:45Speaker 3: I think he's such a psycho that if penalties beat
- 40:47Speaker 3: them this game, this is like the wake-up call.
- 40:49Speaker 1: He'd be walking in there MFing everybody.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Like, I've told you guys this is a problem. And
- 40:54Speaker 3: everybody's been patting you on the ass and telling you
- 40:56Speaker 3: how great you are.
- 40:57Speaker 2: And what they do.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Because some roles, yeah.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Willie C top 10. You shit in my hand.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody's top 10. You're the bell of the ball.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Because penalties are a problem.
- 41:06Speaker 1: People are officially referring to you as the 2019 LSU Tigers.
- 41:09Speaker 2: One week old.
- 41:10Speaker 1: One week old. That's wild. One week old from the
- 41:14Speaker 1: greatest team in college football. Yeah, they're really explosive. A
- 41:17Speaker 1: little bit different the way they do it, but it's
- 41:19Speaker 1: still really impressive. I love that game. I can't wait
- 41:21Speaker 1: to watch it.
- 41:22Speaker 3: If I didn't see that missed tackle stat with Jaden
- 41:25Speaker 3: Ball coming to town, I'd be getting more.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Jaden Ball, best running back in college football.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah. I know you like Duke, buddy. Do what?
- 41:32Speaker 1: You like the Duke cat.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Nate Shepard, yeah, he's damn good, too.
- 41:36Speaker 1: What Jaden Ball has been doing against the logos and
- 41:39Speaker 1: the talent, it's just so impressive.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Imagine if Florida had him last year. You say he
- 41:44Speaker 2: was on the roster last year. Oh, my bad.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Imagine if they used him last year.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Dude, and Ole Miss's front seven was dominated.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Dominated. And is it psychology?
- 41:57Speaker 2: Psychology.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Or is it that's how good they are? That's the
- 42:00Speaker 1: scariest thing about this.
- 42:00Speaker 3: After last week, to me, I'm like, oh, yeah, that
- 42:02Speaker 3: psychology stuff was spot on.
- 42:05Speaker 2: The only reason I don't.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Feel like, yeah, absolutely, it's like a double letdown spot
- 42:09Speaker 3: for Florida because they are, everybody's telling them how great
- 42:11Speaker 3: they are, this and that. Florida, the last 10 months
- 42:14Speaker 3: since Summerall's gotten to town, it's been, we're going to
- 42:17Speaker 3: show people that Florida is back. Like, we're going to
- 42:19Speaker 3: wake people up to how good we actually are in
- 42:21Speaker 3: this building. Whereas Ole Miss, it's like, all 10 months
- 42:24Speaker 3: in the off season. Your season didn't really get beyond
- 42:26Speaker 3: the third week because it's like you got LSU coming
- 42:28Speaker 3: to town.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Miami at Clemson.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 42:32Speaker 1: First time Miami's been on the show, right? First time
- 42:33Speaker 1: we've looked at him. Brett Mays has entered in the chat.
- 42:37Speaker 1: He's part of the live studio audience. He's a Miami graduate.
- 42:39Speaker 3: 2004?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 42:39Speaker 1: 2004 graduate?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Hurricanes went down there for spring ball. Hurricanes are favored
- 42:49Speaker 1: by minus 16 and a half. Total points in that
- 42:50Speaker 1: game is 47 and a half. I mean, quickly, I'll
- 42:54Speaker 1: just go. I think I love Dabo. I love what
- 42:58Speaker 1: he's done for the program of Clemson. They've seemed to
- 43:03Speaker 1: kind of, for your phrase, pull the nose up a
- 43:05Speaker 1: little bit after the LSU game. But I think this
- 43:08Speaker 1: is the week that culture, how we feel, it's like
- 43:12Speaker 1: this is where Miami covers. This is where Clemson officially,
- 43:17Speaker 1: the grave is dug. And this is the end of Clemson.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I feel that way. I think this is one of
- 43:22Speaker 1: those games we looked at early in the season. It's
- 43:24Speaker 1: like Clemson, Dabo, look who they brought back at their OCs.
- 43:26Speaker 1: First time he's here since 2011. We're really excited about him.
- 43:30Speaker 1: And it's at Clemson. They could just recharge and everyone
- 43:33Speaker 1: was doubting. The last time they were not in the
- 43:34Speaker 1: top 25, all the things were said. And still it's
- 43:37Speaker 1: like you have an injury at quarterback. You now have
- 43:39Speaker 1: a freshman there. He's a kid that like if you're
- 43:42Speaker 1: pushing the ball down the field more than 10 yards,
- 43:45Speaker 1: it's very inaccurate. He's a little loose with the football
- 43:47Speaker 1: in his hands whenever there's pressure on him. He seems
- 43:49Speaker 1: a little bit lost out there. And so like Wesco
- 43:52Speaker 1: and Bryant, like let's get in the ball on the perimeter,
- 43:54Speaker 1: but they're having trouble making guys miss and the blocking
- 43:56Speaker 1: in front of them is not awesome. And Miami has
- 43:59Speaker 1: so many ways to beat them. I mean Mensah, I
- 44:02Speaker 1: think winning against Wake Forest was their most competitive game
- 44:04Speaker 1: was 20 for 20 at one point. Mark Fletcher, he's
- 44:08Speaker 1: averaging 6.7 yards per carry. You got Tony and Bar-K,
- 44:12Speaker 1: the Duke transfer. Those guys are operating at a high level.
- 44:15Speaker 1: The only place I see Clemson having some type of
- 44:18Speaker 1: edge is in the trenches because Miami's not been great
- 44:22Speaker 1: owning the line of scrimmage, especially in the run game.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Mark Fletcher having 6.7 yards per carry is a lot
- 44:27Speaker 1: of his talent. It speaks to a lot of what
- 44:29Speaker 1: he's able to do and manipulate those linebackers to get
- 44:31Speaker 1: him into the A gap. Then he bounces out to
- 44:33Speaker 1: the B gap and he just sees the field very clearly.
- 44:36Speaker 1: But I see Miami and Cristobal running away with this one.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I see them running away. So I'm going to take
- 44:42Speaker 1: minus 16.5 on Miami, and I'm going to put three
- 44:45Speaker 1: units on that. I'm going to stay in the two
- 44:48Speaker 1: to four category this entire week. But I like Miami
- 44:51Speaker 1: a lot.
- 44:53Speaker 2: What it's come to in the ACC.
- 44:55Speaker 1: It kind of breaks my heart.
- 44:57Speaker 2: I knew where you were going as soon as you
- 44:59Speaker 2: used the, I love this guy.
- 45:00Speaker 1: He's a good person. Yeah, that's kind of the phrase, right?
- 45:03Speaker 1: Because I do like Dabo. I think his quirkiness is
- 45:06Speaker 1: kind of fun.
- 45:06Speaker 2: We could add a fourth chair for him on next
- 45:08Speaker 2: year's show.
- 45:09Speaker 1: He'd be damned. It'd be awesome.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'd give my chair up for him. That'd be great.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I would be heartbroken if you did that.
- 45:14Speaker 2: But in the meantime, we've seen them take on one competent, high-level,
- 45:19Speaker 2: top-10 caliber roster this year. And that was in week one.
- 45:23Speaker 2: And it was really embarrassing that the game even got
- 45:27Speaker 2: hyped up the way it did, once you see how
- 45:29Speaker 2: it goes. to their credit now, and they do deserve
- 45:33Speaker 2: credit for this, they could have lost going across the
- 45:35Speaker 2: country to Cal, and they didn't. Who else did they play?
- 45:38Speaker 2: What was the other team they played? Georgia Southern. They
- 45:41Speaker 2: didn't cover, but at least they won. So technically it
- 45:43Speaker 2: could be worse. The thing about it is Miami and
- 45:46Speaker 2: Clemson don't play a whole lot. They don't play every year.
- 45:49Speaker 2: And it still means a lot. So it's two sides
- 45:53Speaker 2: of the same coin here. Number one, they're way better
- 45:56Speaker 2: than you roster-wise. Number two... Even though you're down, it
- 46:02Speaker 2: still means a ton to be facing that tiger paw.
- 46:05Speaker 2: So you'll get their fastball. It's not like there's any
- 46:08Speaker 2: threat of a letdown spot. So Clemson still gets everybody's
- 46:11Speaker 2: best shot, even though Clemson is not Clemson anymore. So
- 46:14Speaker 2: the bottom line is you've got to deal with Miami
- 46:16Speaker 2: for four quarters. And there's, I say, no way. There
- 46:20Speaker 2: is no way I'm back in Clemson having to face
- 46:22Speaker 2: Miami for four quarters. So home field's great. But home
- 46:27Speaker 2: field only matters until the game's not in question anymore.
- 46:30Speaker 2: And then home field empties out and people are beating
- 46:32Speaker 2: the traffic. This is a beat the traffic situation. So
- 46:35Speaker 2: I'm going to take Miami minus 16 and a half.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I'll put three units on it.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Do you think the Clemson fan base is into this
- 46:43Speaker 1: game early or do they kind of know what's going on?
- 46:44Speaker 2: I think they're perfectly willing to be in the game early.
- 46:47Speaker 2: I think they're perfectly willing to buy in because everybody
- 46:50Speaker 2: wants to see a big upset. They don't want to
- 46:52Speaker 2: believe what we're saying. They don't want to believe their
- 46:54Speaker 2: worst fears about their program. They don't want to believe it,
- 46:57Speaker 2: but they're also not dumb. So if they see it start,
- 47:00Speaker 2: like if it's 10-0 Miami, if it's 17-3 at halftime,
- 47:04Speaker 2: those people know offensively we're probably not scoring 17. So
- 47:08Speaker 2: this game's already over. And then, see, here's the ugly part.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Here's the flip side of the big home field, prime time,
- 47:16Speaker 2: Fowler and Herbie in the house kind of conversation. It
- 47:19Speaker 2: also gives a public platform and a huge stage for
- 47:24Speaker 2: an ugly game to unfold in And the entire second
- 47:27Speaker 2: half is booing. And the entire second half is cutaways
- 47:31Speaker 2: to shots of empty bleacher seats. And this extended conversation
- 47:36Speaker 2: about what was for Clemson versus what is now and
- 47:40Speaker 2: what probably will be in the future. So I watched
- 47:44Speaker 2: Ed Orgeron have this happen to him at LSU. There
- 47:46Speaker 2: was like a, there were a couple of really, really
- 47:48Speaker 2: big moments and LSU doesn't come through and the entire
- 47:52Speaker 2: second half, it's just like this toxic piece of television
- 47:57Speaker 2: that ends up being the impetus for change to be made.
- 48:00Speaker 2: And I don't know that that's what would happen at
- 48:01Speaker 2: Clemson because every situation is unique, but like if this
- 48:05Speaker 2: is a runaway win, which at least two of us
- 48:07Speaker 2: think it's going to be, it's going to be pretty uncomfortable.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Plus that would also be the end. Cause I mean,
- 48:13Speaker 2: that'd be Clemson's second loss. So you know there's going
- 48:15Speaker 2: to be no playoff push. You know there's going to be,
- 48:18Speaker 2: even if they technically, mathematically are still alive in the ACC,
- 48:22Speaker 2: if the team you would eventually face in Charlotte smashes
- 48:25Speaker 2: you by three-plus touchdowns in your own building, you know
- 48:29Speaker 2: there's no traction here. We're not a player in this league.
- 48:32Speaker 2: I'd love to believe the alternative is true. But right now,
- 48:36Speaker 2: I think we looked at the ACC standings last night.
- 48:39Speaker 2: I mean, whoever the second team is in the FanDuel
- 48:42Speaker 2: odds to win the ACC right now, has equal odds
- 48:45Speaker 2: to like the number six team to win the SEC.
- 48:48Speaker 2: So there's this Grand Canyon already between Miami and the
- 48:52Speaker 2: rest of the league. I do remember Miami kind of
- 48:56Speaker 2: having Wake hang with them when they went on the
- 48:59Speaker 2: road earlier this year. Wake's probably a better team than Clemson.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Wake's better at quarterback.
- 49:03Speaker 1: They just beat Louisville.
- 49:04Speaker 2: There you go. So Wake's on the way up. If
- 49:08Speaker 2: Wake and Clemson played today, I'd take Wake Forest straight up.
- 49:10Speaker 2: So I think that's a halfway good team. And that's
- 49:13Speaker 2: a team that's ascending too. Whereas I don't know where
- 49:15Speaker 2: Clemson is, so.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Wake got after Miami's offensive line a little bit.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Wake's not bad.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I'm not sold on Miami's offensive line right now, particularly
- 49:24Speaker 3: the right side. And you look at Clemson, number 13
- 49:28Speaker 3: and 14, Will Hilton, London Merritt. They can get after
- 49:30Speaker 3: the quarterback. They're going to be seeing a lot of man-to-man,
- 49:33Speaker 3: a lot of five-man pressure, four-man simulated pressure. I'm not
- 49:37Speaker 3: sold on the offensive line of scrimmage for Miami. But
- 49:40Speaker 3: you look at Clemson, 125th in total yards, 127th in
- 49:43Speaker 3: passing yards, only two touchdowns thrown in four games. They're 27%
- 49:47Speaker 3: offensively on third down. Their only path, their only path
- 49:52Speaker 3: is turnovers. Tate Reynolds has been sacked like 10 times.
- 49:56Speaker 3: I'm going under 47 and a half. I need the
- 49:58Speaker 3: tornado man to check the weather here, but I believe
- 50:00Speaker 3: a 75% chance of rain in Clemson on Saturday night.
- 50:04Speaker 3: I'm going to take the under 47 and a half.
- 50:06Speaker 3: If this ends up being 31-17, just hand me the
- 50:09Speaker 3: antifreeze because I'm chugging it.
- 50:16Speaker 2: No warm bath.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Two units on that one. Two units on the end.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Two units on the end.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Did he Davidson, dude?
- 50:24Speaker 2: 159 yards? Bump it up to three. Bump it up
- 50:26Speaker 2: to three.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Bump it up to three.
- 50:29Speaker 3: I see Miami taking care of business, but dude, their
- 50:31Speaker 3: offensive line need this crystal ball line of scrimmage. They're
- 50:34Speaker 3: going to have time because of their schedule, but you
- 50:36Speaker 3: do need to get them going because... Teams are getting
- 50:38Speaker 3: after them. Teams are getting after that offensive line a
- 50:40Speaker 3: little bit.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's holes in the back of that secondary
- 50:43Speaker 1: as well. There's plays to be had, but to all
- 50:46Speaker 1: the stats you just brought up, I just don't see...
- 50:47Speaker 1: Clemson's offense ain't going to... They've not shown the ability
- 50:52Speaker 1: to push the ball down the field.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Not at all. You know, the worst part is Clemson
- 50:55Speaker 2: defensive staff is watching that Miami film and they're saying,
- 50:59Speaker 2: good news, bad news, boys. Good news, it's there. Bad
- 51:02Speaker 2: news is, we can't take advantage of it.
- 51:04Speaker 1: We can't take advantage of it.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Someone will. Not us, though. Yeah.
- 51:08Speaker 1: We can paint the picture for them.
- 51:09Speaker 2: We don't have that Wake Forest version.
- 51:10Speaker 1: We can show them, hey, that's where you would throw it,
- 51:12Speaker 1: right there. You would put it in this little hole
- 51:14Speaker 1: right there. That's about it. If you can do that,
- 51:16Speaker 1: we're going to feel good.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Ohio State at Iowa.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Ohio State's favored minus four.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Yeah, what's our number right now?
- 51:25Speaker 1: This is incorrect. It says here that Iowa's favored by
- 51:27Speaker 1: 14.5 on my sheet. I know that's incorrect. So I'll
- 51:30Speaker 1: just go ahead and make an assumption that Ohio State's
- 51:32Speaker 1: favored by 14.5 points. Total in that game is 58.5.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Big number.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Huge number. So that's higher.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Is that also incorrect?
- 51:43Speaker 2: 45.5.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Okay, so whatever this was given, this is crazy.
- 51:46Speaker 2: That's the 2016.
- 51:47Speaker 1: I'm looking at that and I was like, I didn't
- 51:49Speaker 1: know the total was there. Give me the under five
- 51:51Speaker 1: units immediately.
- 51:52Speaker 3: He must have been typing that in when the Austin
- 51:54Speaker 3: Simmons conversation was taking place.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Yeah, sweating bullets. This has got to be crazy.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Well, this is stupid. I'm not going to waste a
- 52:04Speaker 2: whole lot of time.
- 52:04Speaker 1: On this sheet, it says Iowa's favored by 14 and
- 52:06Speaker 1: a half, but Iowa money line is plus 500.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Hey, he makes a mistake. No, no, yeah, yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 1: All good. All good. It just scared me when I
- 52:15Speaker 1: saw it. I was like, oh, I'm going to slap
- 52:16Speaker 1: the table as fast as possible for this under.
- 52:17Speaker 2: That brings back fond memories of you laying points with
- 52:20Speaker 2: a favorite last year, but taking the dog outright.
- 52:23Speaker 1: On the money line. Fond memories. Listen, two teams I
- 52:29Speaker 1: can't stand right now. How do you guys feel about it?
- 52:32Speaker 1: It's Ohio State minus 14 and a half. It's what
- 52:34Speaker 1: it is. It's what it is? It's what it is.
- 52:37Speaker 1: I'm not wasting a whole lot of time on this game.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Like, Iowa is not the Iowa you're like, And look,
- 52:42Speaker 3: another straight bet that you can dive into FanDuel on
- 52:45Speaker 3: is the total rushing yards for Ohio State.
- 52:47Speaker 2: It's sitting at like.
- 52:48Speaker 3: 104 and a half yards. So you go over on that,
- 52:52Speaker 3: you get you a nice little straight bet there.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Why wouldn't you just do that.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Like a prop? I don't think, I think that's not
- 52:58Speaker 1: the show for that. I think if you want to
- 52:59Speaker 1: do that, you go look over at the NFL show.
- 53:02Speaker 2: It is in my parlay.
- 53:03Speaker 1: It's in your parlay.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Spoiler alert, Ohio State rushing yards is in my parlay.
- 53:07Speaker 1: When's the last time that Ohio State played in Iowa?
- 53:09Speaker 2: 2017.
- 53:11Speaker 1: And then what was the score of that game?
- 53:13Speaker 2: 55-24. Who had 55? Iowa.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Really?
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Nate Stanley, 20-31 that day. What's that?
- 53:19Speaker 1: You're talking about 2017? I mean, that's the last time
- 53:22Speaker 1: these two teams played. And they were dogs. I think
- 53:25Speaker 1: they're 2-0, home dogs, too. Like, I agree. Like, this
- 53:31Speaker 1: should absolutely be Ohio State minus 14.5. Iowa's just got
- 53:36Speaker 1: to wait. You and I know this better than anybody,
- 53:37Speaker 1: but what just happened to me last week and my
- 53:39Speaker 1: team and what's happened to you for....
- 53:42Speaker 2: A long time.
- 53:44Speaker 1: They have a way of just kind of dragging you
- 53:47Speaker 1: in the quicksand. They're essentially an 80s horror film where
- 53:49Speaker 1: you're running away the entire time and the villain is
- 53:51Speaker 1: just walking and somehow they get to you. Like, I'm
- 53:55Speaker 1: not saying Iowa's going to win this game. Like, the
- 53:58Speaker 1: film itself is like Iowa. Like, they're statistically, this is
- 54:02Speaker 1: why stats are a lie, like they were the number
- 54:03Speaker 1: one defense. But Michigan has struggled on offense at almost
- 54:06Speaker 1: 500 yards of offense. And Ohio State is a better offense, clearly.
- 54:12Speaker 1: But one way or another, I could see Iowa just
- 54:16Speaker 1: being like, you're going to play our game. And Ohio
- 54:19Speaker 1: State's still going to win. But 14 and a half
- 54:22Speaker 1: is a lot. So I'll take Iowa plus 14 and
- 54:25Speaker 1: a half.
- 54:25Speaker 3: You're undefeated this year taking Iowa covering.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Oh, so you felt a little type of way when
- 54:31Speaker 1: I brought up what happened here in Nebraska.
- 54:34Speaker 3: No, I'm just statistically like you are.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Yes, I am. They overachieved for me a little too
- 54:39Speaker 1: much last week. And I didn't like that, but I
- 54:42Speaker 1: was still correcting my pick. So I'll take Iowa.
- 54:48Speaker 2: 14 and a half.
- 54:49Speaker 1: I don't know how they do it, but I still
- 54:51Speaker 1: can't figure out how they beat Michigan last week. So
- 54:55Speaker 1: that's how I feel. I'll do three units on that.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Three units on that.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Okay. Give me the four unit juggernaut.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Slap the table, dude. No, I got my slap at
- 55:06Speaker 1: the table.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I knew he had something in his pocket. Yeah. I
- 55:09Speaker 2: can see something in his pocket, and it's not this.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I got an idea of where it's at, too. So
- 55:14Speaker 2: you're thinking back. Crazy stuff happens here. Iowa pulls a
- 55:17Speaker 2: classic Iowa. Remember the 2017 game? Nate Stanley in that game.
- 55:21Speaker 2: 20 of 31, five touchdowns through the air.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Wow.
- 55:25Speaker 2: An Iowa quarterback did that. This is going to be
- 55:28Speaker 2: tough to read because it's my handwriting. Can you read
- 55:30Speaker 2: that warning?
- 55:33Speaker 3: A lot of irrelevant stuff will be floating. Will be
- 55:39Speaker 3: floating about. A lot of irrelevant stuff will be floating about.
- 55:43Speaker 2: The 2017 game is so irrelevant to me. Iowa is
- 55:46Speaker 2: a lie. What they did last week notwithstanding. Like Iowa
- 55:50Speaker 2: this year is a total lie. So you think to yourself, self,
- 55:55Speaker 2: I know Iowa football. But like, do you? You know
- 55:58Speaker 2: Iowa historically. And I'm talking to myself. This is me
- 56:01Speaker 2: talking to me. Everyone just is privy to this conversation
- 56:04Speaker 2: because I'm thinking, all right, well, the way Iowa would
- 56:06Speaker 2: do this is they would just clamp down on a
- 56:10Speaker 2: passing game. Jeremiah Smith, this is the one game he's
- 56:13Speaker 2: not going to go off. Michigan had two receivers over
- 56:15Speaker 2: 100 yards last week. They're not clamping down on them. Yeah,
- 56:18Speaker 2: but maybe they'll get after Julian Sane because, you know,
- 56:21Speaker 2: in pressure pockets, 58% completion guy last year. You know what?
- 56:26Speaker 2: 17 sacks last year. Iowa hasn't gotten pressure on anyone
- 56:29Speaker 2: this year. That's fair. That's also a good point. Thirdly,
- 56:31Speaker 2: maybe Iowa will just grind the ball on the ground
- 56:34Speaker 2: and shorten the game. Illinois actually had 200 on them
- 56:39Speaker 2: last week. It's Iowa that has 131 yards total rushing
- 56:44Speaker 2: against Iowa State and Michigan. Those are the two P4
- 56:47Speaker 2: teams they've played. So they can't get pressure. They can't
- 56:50Speaker 2: run the ball. You can throw the ball on them
- 56:52Speaker 2: this year. I will go four units on Ohio State
- 56:56Speaker 2: minus 14 and a half. And that's only because they
- 56:58Speaker 2: were crazy enough to offer me 56 and a half
- 57:02Speaker 2: as the total on the Florida game, or else I
- 57:03Speaker 2: would make this five units. It will be a very
- 57:05Speaker 2: boring game. Prayers up to CBS for carrying this game.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Second half, you're going to want to find something else
- 57:10Speaker 2: to do besides watch this game. Jeremiah Smith will go
- 57:13Speaker 2: off against that secondary. And the only reason he won't
- 57:16Speaker 2: is if that Ohio State offensive staff does the math
- 57:19Speaker 2: and they look and they say, the only way we
- 57:22Speaker 2: lose this game is if we give it away and
- 57:25Speaker 2: put the ball in the air. Because otherwise, if they're
- 57:27Speaker 2: aggressive at all in this game, they will quickly dispel
- 57:32Speaker 2: the myth that is Iowa as a contender this year.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Everything you just said is why Iowa covers. Because everything
- 57:40Speaker 1: you said just made too much sense.
- 57:41Speaker 2: So you think this is just, this is Iowa being Iowa.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Like you think it's going to be that kind of game.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Cause I like, listen, Iowa state and Michigan, like whole,
- 57:49Speaker 1: I think Michigan held in like 60 total rushing yards
- 57:52Speaker 1: and all of their, all of their rushing yards have
- 57:54Speaker 1: come from like absolute muffins, G6, FCS schools. Like they
- 57:58Speaker 1: don't have, there's not a leg to stand on anywhere yet.
- 58:01Speaker 1: They always kind of just figure out a way to
- 58:03Speaker 1: like muddle around and be there. So all the statutes
- 58:07Speaker 1: that are correct, there's a thousand reasons why I go
- 58:10Speaker 1: Ohio State. But that's why Iowa just fucking drags you
- 58:14Speaker 1: into the abyss.
- 58:15Speaker 2: You know what else I just remembered? A thousand and
- 58:17Speaker 2: one reasons. Ohio State's already been on the road and
- 58:21Speaker 2: had an early lead and watched it evaporate. So that's
- 58:24Speaker 2: even more reason for them not to just stab you
- 58:27Speaker 2: in the neck, but to cut your head off before
- 58:30Speaker 2: they leave the building. I don't think this game will
- 58:32Speaker 2: be close.
- 58:33Speaker 1: It is Spooktober.
- 58:34Speaker 2: It is the first time I've thought about going alt-line.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Because I would take this all the way up to
- 58:37Speaker 2: 20 and a half. Wow. Yeah. Do it. But I'm
- 58:39Speaker 2: not going to do it because I feel like I'm
- 58:41Speaker 2: in good position right now. But I'm going to put
- 58:42Speaker 2: four units on that one.
- 58:44Speaker 1: You've loved this pick.
- 58:46Speaker 3: The audience is sitting there just juiced.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Salivating right now.
- 58:49Speaker 2: I like it a lot. I like it a lot.
- 58:51Speaker 2: A lot of people are watching this on Spooktober too. Yeah.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Getting excited about all the things you're saying.
- 58:56Speaker 2: We are there.
- 58:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 2: We are there.
- 58:58Speaker 1: Biggest Spooktober of Bust with the Boy's Lives.
- 59:00Speaker 2: I hope so, because last year... Yeah, agreed. Some people
- 59:06Speaker 2: were upset.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Yeah, like the everything you just said is the truth
- 59:10Speaker 1: i can't get mad at the truth that's the reality
- 59:12Speaker 1: situation boys real quick want to tell you about a
- 59:15Speaker 1: profit boost token that you can use to boost your
- 59:17Speaker 1: winnings on college football game this friday money line spreads
- 59:21Speaker 1: maybe even a SGP. No matter how you play, FanDuel
- 59:24Speaker 1: is making sure they have your back. Heading into the weekend,
- 59:27Speaker 1: download the app or head to FanDuel.com forward slash Bustin
- 59:30Speaker 1: to make this college football season your most rewarding season yet.
- 59:36Speaker 1: There's a lot of enthusiasm in that voice, Papa Pete.
- 59:37Speaker 1: I hope you enjoyed that. Back to this episode. Bustin
- 59:41Speaker 1: and Pete on campus. Yep. Headed to Blacksburg. Virginia Tech.
- 59:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 59:44Speaker 1: They're playing Pitt at home because otherwise we wouldn't go there.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Virginia Tech's favorite, minus 3.5 right now. Total points in
- 59:52Speaker 1: that game is 54.5. Willie C., what are you feeling, buddy?
- 59:57Speaker 2: Virginia Tech.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Going for a 5-0 start for the first time since 05.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Yeah. I have two questions on this game.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: The first one is, can Virginia Tech, can their pass
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: rush get after Mason?
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: How in the hell do you say his last name?
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Hein Schultz.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Heinz. So that was gonna be my one question. Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: How do you pronounce his last name?
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Because he's clean. Like he's he's good with a clean pocket.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Like he had over.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: I mean, he's had a thousand yards and about 13
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: touchdowns against nobody's VMI and Old Dominion. But when he's
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: won against Syracuse and who else did they play?
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: And UCF like that, you know, they did a good
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: job by getting.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: After having those scores low.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: So can Virginia Tech's pass rush get after? Virginia Tech
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: leads the country in sacks. 12 of those sacks, again,
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: came from nobodies.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Didn't come from the bigger dogs. But again, can that
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: pass rush come alive? And then my second question would be,
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: can Pitt make Grunkmeier throw the ball downfield? Because he's
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: been very efficient. He doesn't turn the ball over. They're
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: able to lean on Overton and Hawkins in the run game.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: But also, Pitt is very good at stopping the run.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: They're 7th in the country. So they're like a brick
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: wall as far as it comes to the line of
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: scrimmage in their front seven. To me, the X factor
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: is gonna be Lane Stadium. There's gonna be so much
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: juice there. And also Pitt's first game on the road
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: leaving their hometown, but they're also, how many penalties coming
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: into this game? Like 32 over the last three games?
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: 131st in the country. Yeah, bad at penalties.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: First road game, Lane Stadium, I think that is the
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: X factor. I think this is a close game. I
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: think it's a field goal game. I got Virginia Tech winning,
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: but I am going to take Pittsburgh. I'm going to
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: take Pitt plus three and a.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Half with the points. Pittsburgh is using their full government name.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Full government.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Full government name. I think it's a tight line. I'm
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: going to take, again, a field goal game. Because on paper,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: I do think Pitt's better. But again, in this environment,
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: all those penalties, I don't know. I just like Pitt
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: with the points here. And again, to the Hokie fans
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: out there, I do think you guys win the football game.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Heinzschel. Heinzschel? Heinzschel, yeah.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Heinzschel. Heinzschel. He's a good quarterback. Six of his seven
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: touchdowns have come from the FCS and G6. He's excelled
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: against lesser talent, and then you can see a big
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: change in total offense between the Power Four teams versus
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: the G6 and FCS schools. Virginia Tech, I think, do
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: a better job of running the football, and Pitt's defense
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: is very salty between the tackles. I think it was Syracuse,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: that film. Anytime Syracuse tried to run it between the
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: two tackles, it seemed like it would get stuffed. Those
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: linebackers absolutely fly around. And then at one point in
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: that game, they started to figure out, oh, if we
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: kind of run towards the perimeter, then you see a
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: lot more explosive plays, those plays that go for four
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: or more yards. So there's kind of a blueprint in
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: how to run the ball versus this front seven, and
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: it's to hit it. around the numbers outside the hashes.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: And I think Virginia, if I can see it, Virginia
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Tech can see it. Gronkmaier, 74 completion percentage. He takes
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: care of the football, ATD zero interceptions. And then Luke Reynolds,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: the tight end. Having a tight end of his ability,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: who's kind of like your... like NFL's toward a tight end.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Like he can block, but also like makes great catches
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: on the sidelines, like really good acrobatic body control catches.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: That's a great guy to kind of like have in
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: a five to eight yard vicinity at any point for
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: him to dump it down and give it to him.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: I just, he can, I see Virginia tech controlling this game.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: I think they have the ability to do it. The
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: weather is it supposed to rain? I know it's supposed
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: to rain during our show.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Great question.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And then it's like 81 degrees. And then the next
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: day it's like 63. We got a weatherman, do you know?
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I think if it's, do you know?
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Do you want me to let you know right now?
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you can let me know right now.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Well, Delaney Willis, local meteorologist in that area up there,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: had this to say. Pay close attention. Volume up.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: This Friday night, a pretty big event.
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: We have the Hokies under the Friday night lights playing Pitt,
- 1:03:52Speaker 7: and we have some nice weather.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: On deck for that.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: 81 degrees of high temperature on Friday. A little earlier
- 1:03:57Speaker 7: in the afternoon, about 2 to 3 p.m., Bussum and
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: Pate on campus in Hokie Village have great weather for
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: that in Blacksburg, 85. I will mention that afternoon you
- 1:04:06Speaker 7: may have a couple of showers to dodge, so we
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: want to keep that poncho handy just in case 7
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: o'clock kickoff, 72 degrees with a couple of showers.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Thank you, Delaney.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Thank you, Delaney.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: Shout out Delaney.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Shout out on that. That was absolutely beautiful. So a
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: couple of showers. Hopefully it does rain a little bit.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Both teams want to run the ball. I just see
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Virginia Tech having more success. The ball in Gronkmeyer's hands.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I feel like he is going to produce. I'm going
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: to take Virginia Tech to win this game. I'm also
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: going to take him to cover three and a half.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I'm fired up to be going for the home team
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: this week. I'll put three units on that. But yeah,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: James Franklin, man. James Franklin's got him cooking a little bit.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: He's taking some of those Penn State guys transferred them over,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: and they're having a lot of success in the ACC.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I like them. They're ACC good, Virginia Tech.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: ACC good.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: They're ACC good. I like where they're at right now.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: A lot of ACC good teams in that conference. Josh Payne.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: One of these teams will be ranked next week. Wow.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Some are saying they should be ranked right now. I
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: don't know if the Willie Seapole had them in there.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Willie Seapole has them both in there.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: They're both in there. The AP said, piss on the ACC.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: We don't care about any of them. So you already
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: mentioned this. So I'm just going to I'm going to
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: re paper pop what kind of both of you said.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: And that is Mason Heinzel. How are we really supposed
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: to know? Because it's he's like a splits quarterback right now.
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: And if you look against your UCS and Syracuse's 212
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: and 123 respectively. But he really, really got fat on
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: inferior competition. Not the same time. If I'm thinking Virginia
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Tech defensive numbers, that's great. But they're kind of a
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: splits defense right now. They faced Malik Washington at Maryland,
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: 30 of 44, 359 through the air, three touchdowns. So
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: we're trying to figure it out. This is week five
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: for all of us, us too. Like we're trying to
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: figure out who's real and who's not. You got to
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: wonder if those havoc numbers verify for Virginia Tech. Because
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: the sack numbers, they're top five in the country. They're
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: very aggressive. And that with home field at your back,
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: like that's going to be tough for Pitt to deal with.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: And if that's the case, we could be looking at
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: like 27 to 10. It is a very, very interesting
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: conversation about who has the quarterback edge in this game.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: I think it's evenly enough matched where I just want
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: to sit there and wait and watch and find out myself.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: But this is Lane Stadium at night. And this is
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: the first time in a long time that people are
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: circling a primetime standalone game at Lane Stadium. Blacksburg, Virginia
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: at night used to mean something. And I hope it
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: does again. And the first opportunity that we as a
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: college football public have to witness it in the James
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Franklin era is this Friday night. And I simply cannot
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: believe that they're going to screw it up. This is
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: not sand that's going to slip through their fingers. So
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I'll take Virginia Tech. I'll lay those points for two units.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Two units.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: You had me thinking there at the end. I'm like,
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: has he slapped the table yet? It seems like he's
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: about to slap the table.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's about to slap the table a
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: little bit. Two units, that's it? I'm going to tap
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: the table. A gentle little tap. A two-unit tap. A
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: two-unit tap. They just feel more dependent. I say my units.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I'll go three.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Three? Three units.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: They do feel they're more dependable.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: They do.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Gravely Game of the Week.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Buy a lawnmower.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Buy a lawnmower. Get yourself a lawnmower.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Zero turn. The whole thing.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Very fun. Very exciting. Nothing like cutting grass. I don't
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: do it, but I know there's a lot of people
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: out there that tell me how exciting it is. So
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: shout out Gravely on that. The Gravely Game of the
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Week is Alabama at Mississippi State. Alabama, minus 5.5. Total
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: points in that game is 60.5 points. No one could
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: possibly think to take that over. No one could possibly
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: think to take that over. Willie C., you said you
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: have a slap coming at some point. Well, this is
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: the last game. I can't slap my parlay. You cannot
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: slap your parlay.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: It's a good strategy, though.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: It's a really good strategy. That would be awesome, though,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: if you did that and hit it.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Game's totally changed.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Five, like, boom!
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: I've been thinking a lot about this game. Still are.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Still thinking about it. Mississippi State. First ranked win since 2014.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Hurts the Huskers a little bit because now we're even
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: getting lower on the totem pole because we haven't had
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: one since 16.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: They're riding high right now. They're ranked.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: Kamario Taylor, Heisman front, or not front runner, but he's
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: on that short list of Heisman candidates. He'd be in
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: New York today.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Yes. McGee, stud. Who's that slot receiver?
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: Evans. Stud.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: They got a lot of juice.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Fluff. You can talk about his low center of gravity.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: He's a tough tackle. Stud.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: They have all these things, right? And I've talked, like
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Mississippi State fans, they're still in my mentions. We'll talk
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: about how simple our offense is, yada, yada, yada. Trust me,
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: I'm with you. Much easier said than done. I thought
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Mizzou had a good game plan for him last week.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: He kind of shit the bed in the fourth quarter.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Ran a lot of two-shell in that first half and
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: kind of went with a lighter box. Because to me,
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: it's like, give up five, six yards to Fluff Brown. Like,
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: do not allow Kamario Taylor to hit you over the
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: top like he did in that first half. Because it
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: is beautiful. However, I think Keylon Russell, I think he's
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: going to be the best quarterback on Saturday. I think
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: we haven't got to see this potential get tapped. In
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: Alabama's back five, back seven, they're passing defense. They're kind
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: of susceptible to explosives right now. They are one of
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: the better third down defenses in the country. To me,
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: it's all about third down. It's all about red zone
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: in this game.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: I like Bama here. I love Bama here. I love
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Bama so much.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: I'm moving this line to Alabama minus nine and a half,
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: and I'm slapping the table with five units.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Take that, Mississippi State fans. Can't wait to see my
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: mentions next week. Because if this goes the other direction,
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: which it very most likely will, because I got five
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: units on this game, and Alabama's probably going to win
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: by eight, I have a good feeling about Bama. I
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: just think that they're going to see the formula for
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: how to stop the run. I think a guy you
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: got to keep your eye on. I need my man
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: to get a little bit better in his conditioning. But
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Terrence Green, number 99, the interior for Alabama, long, strong,
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: and physical at the point of contact like him and, uh,
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Pierre and Tompkins on the edge. I think that line
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: of scrimmage and their linebackers fly around pretty good. I
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: think they're going to have, um, they're going to be
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: allowed to play with a lighter box because of cats
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: like that. Like again, Terrence green, he's got some juice
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: to him. He just needs a little bit more conditioning
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: so he can stay on the field longer. Um, I
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: like Bama a lot here. You went Man, nine and
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: a half.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Nine and a half.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: I think this could be a double digit. I think
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: Bama's ready to go.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: This is a splattering tweet. Plus 132, nine and a half.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Plus 132, nine and a half. I like Bama a
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: lot here. And they started fast last week. They did.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: They did.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: And they're going into Mississippi State. Those cowbells will be
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: going again. They are fired up. They should be.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: I'm going down there. I'm going to be there.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: I saw that.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: You've got a double-decker weekend coming up.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Rain poncho not purchased yet i don't own rain gear
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: i found out yeah you i see what you own
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: yeah like you i have what i own with me
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: right now exactly minimalist i don't even own the car
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: i drove here in no you don't we had a
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: full conversation about that.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Quick potty break to shout out jack daniels whether i'm
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: at a tailgate or on the couch watching either michigan
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: or nebraska on saturday jack daniels is a staple on
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: my game day roster expand your playbook with the cinnamon
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: kick of Jack Fire, the smooth taste of Jack Honey,
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: the crisp and refreshing Jack Apple, and the only blackberry
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: bursting with Jack. Personally, I'm a Jack Fire, Honey, Apple, Blackberry,
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: I love them all type of guy on game day.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: No matter how you stack your unit, there's a Jack.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: For every football fan. Let's get back to this episode.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: So you watched Bama's tight ends this year. Yes, bro.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: So that's a yes. You have Washington.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Ford, Edwards, and Pritchett?
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Yeah, man. Go off. I'm stunned by it. Like that's
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: the biggest surprise. I mean, we watch a lot of
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: about 15 teams, Bama being one of them. So it's
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: really weird five weeks into a season to be just
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: shocked by a position group. Bama tight end room was
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: a weakness, like a huge vulnerability for that team last year.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: And it's like, if I were to talk about all
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: the position groups in the SEC, Florida offensive line has
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: vastly overachieved. Alabama tight end room is like 10 shelves
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: above where I thought they would be. So that's huge
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: in a game like this. Because if weather's a factor,
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: and I highly expect it to be a factor, and
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: I think Bama may have both line of scrimmage edges,
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: but I also give myself that tight end room and
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: I give myself Keelan Russell's ability to improvise maybe on
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: broken plays, that could be a difference for me. The
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: one counter to that is all of that could be
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: true and also be negated by Mississippi State's third down
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: stat column. Cause if they throw up like a nine
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: for 14 on third down, they're going to win the game.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: And Alabama is going to have had all these edges
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: and it won't matter just because they got a quarterback
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: that can create magic on third down, fourth down. So
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: red zone kind of correlates with that outside of that. Uh,
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: I do feel like that Alabama tight end room probably
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: as important in this game as any game they've played
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: so far, then they'll play Georgia where it'll be a
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: more important, even than against Mississippi state. Um, Kind of
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: a weather the storm kind of game because I trust
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Jeff Lebby, especially in spots like this. So I don't
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: have the confidence you have. So I'm going like two
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: units on Bama minus five and a half. And I
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: think it's a four quarter game. It's one of those
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: where they kind of cover late.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: And you talk about Lebby too. Some of the creativity
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: he does have. Did you see the play where it's like,
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: Camaro Taylor, they ran a pop pass, like when they
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: were inside the 10. Or it kind of, it looks
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: like a quarterback draw, running back takes off, Camaro Taylor
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: patiently waits, like he's going to run behind him, then.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Jumps up and goes to him. To the running back.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Oh my God, man. They do have a lot of
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: good shit. I played one year of Pop Warner football,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: and we basically ran that exact play. It was called
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: fake handoff running back fly. You fake it to him,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: he runs it, you just kind of toss it over there.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Because there's a lot of creativity. Dude, something about these points.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Keelan Russell has done an incredible job as a first-year starter.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: I think Brooks has been an extremely reliable receiver. Ryan Coleman-Williams,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: like he showed last week, like maybe the gifts are
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: actually gone. He went for, what, 200? It felt like 200.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: He's been fine once he put the gloves on. Right.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: He's been incredible. He's already brought up the tight end room.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: And they've run the ball. Like, I probably lean more
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: towards Alabama in this game. the only thing that gives
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: me pause is Kamario Taylor. And I was like kind
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: of hating before the Minnesota game, massive misread on me.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: And so I have officially been like, I can't join
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: this now. I'm going to kind of sit off in
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: the distance and watch what is Kamario Taylor, Evans McGee,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: the deep threat that they have, his confidence to throw
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: the ball. Like he seems like when things don't go well,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: or he does throw a pick against Missouri, it's like,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: it's a nothing burger to him. He's just, he loves
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: the school he plays for. It seems like a very
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: rare football player in the world of NIL. Like, This
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Alabama defense, from a pass rush standpoint, hasn't been what
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: we thought they were going to be early in the season,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: just statistically. But Mississippi State, their massive flaw is their
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: offensive line. It is really bad. But Jeff Levy and
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: the tempo that they run at, your offensive line isn't
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: going to have success early in the game. It's going
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: to be later because of the number of plays that
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: they're going to force feed you throughout the game. That
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: is what is the equalizer for them, is getting that
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: defensive line to slow down and kind of be a
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: little more heavy breathing while the offensive line that's when
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: they start to kind of feel themselves a little bit.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Because the offensive line is kind of just like, I
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: don't want to say it disrespectfully, but a bunch of
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: pylons where it's like, get in the way, let our
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: running back kind of make some moves, let Kamario Taylor
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: do what he does, and then we have deep shots
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: across the field. Like Kamario Taylor, when he's throwing these verts,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: like he just trusts the speed of his receivers where
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: the DBs are still sitting on top, like their hips,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: like they're still in front of the DB, and he's like,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I know exactly where to put this ball. And they
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: have the ability to go out and get it. I
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: love the points in this game. I know it's a lot,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: but there's still a world where Keelan Russell, I mean,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: he's proven to me this whole entire season he can
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: put the ball down the field. Kamaru Taylor has been,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: you know, probably the most special football player we've seen
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: and never really heard of at this point in the season.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: So I'm going to take the points. I'm going to
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: take over 60 and a half. I'm going to put
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: three on this. If I had to pick a team,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: I'd probably choose Alabama. But that in my brain is like,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: that's where Mississippi State comes and gets the upset.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: The one thing about this weird, I've talked about Alabama's
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: tight end room being a surprise. It's as big, if
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: not bigger surprise to me that they're 116th in the
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: country in explosive pass plays allowed right now. And you
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: thought secondary was the strength of this team.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: So I think Mississippi State's got one of the fastest
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: wide receiver rooms in the SEC. So especially, I don't
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: know that rain affects this, but just I think about
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: a standard game, dry field, dry conditions. they've watched that film.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: They've seen teams target Dijon Lee. If they go down,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: if Mississippi State goes down, they're going to go down swinging.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: In offensive terms, that means deep shot after deep shot
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: after deep shot. I think that heavily maybe yields towards
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: variance over. It's really weird. I don't feel good about
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: the total either way, but if you told me, this
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: thing goes 10 points separate from the total either way,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: I think it would easily be an over.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: And also you look at too, like if you want
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: some fodder on the Mississippi state side, it's like Bama
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: last week, defensively, they were giving up over five yards
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: of carry against South Carolina. And the good news is
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: you have Kamara Taylor quarterback, not, you know, not taking a, Well,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: he's not even here, but you don't have Lenore Sellers.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: I'm always here. Oh, there he is. Damn, there he is.
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: I was going to say, I felt much better saying
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Lenore Sellers was the quarterback, not Kamario Taylor.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: This is a fireworks game. How bad is the rain?
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: What is the scattered showers?
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: I don't love the 40% rain.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Scattered?
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Likely. Likely. Yeah. Just trust me on this one.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Likely. Likely. We'll take likely. Tornado, man. Yeah, I'm very aware.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: You know he's probably dialed on this one.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Because he's going. So you're Blacksburg Friday night. Yep. Going
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: to watch that Saturday. You're going to fly to Mississippi State.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: Friday night. But yes.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Friday night.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Greyhound bus. Come on.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: Gritty.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: Gritty.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Hell of a show, boys.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: The plane's nickname.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: We got more. It's the plane's nickname. Oh, that's right.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: But it has been. I forgot. My fault.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: My fault.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: Oh, there is more.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Let's go Dog of the Week real quick.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: Dog of the Week. Josh Payton, what do you have
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: for Dog of the Week?
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: I'm glad you asked. It's a great question. Cincinnati plus
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: seven and a half.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: It was my favorite bet last week. I didn't even
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: need the points. They won outright. So I'm going to
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: take Cincinnati plus seven and a half. Believe they are
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: headed to the state of Arizona.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: What's the, is it the silver state? What's the, what's
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Arizona's nickname? No, that's Nevada, right? What is Arizona's state nickname?
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Grand Canyon state. Is that, is that real? Nope. That's Florida.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: I thought you were trying to get me on the
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: dick joke.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: So I was very hesitant to answer. It is the
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: Grand Canyon state. I need to check what the silver
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: state is after we leave. It's probably Nevada. So you
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: were more interested in that answer than this game. Well,
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: last time I flew over the state of Arizona, I
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: was reliably informed, bro, no one likes Arizona. So I
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: haven't been out there since then.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: So crazy and disrespectful because Arizona is that place.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: Bro, no one likes Arizona. He had said a word
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: in 20 minutes staring out the window. Bro, no one
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: likes Arizona.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Clump found out that it snows in Arizona that trip.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: That was kind of nuts.
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Give me Vanderbilt plus 24 and a half against the
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: buzzsaw Georgia Bulldogs.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't wait to get to my parlay.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: A little trap game, a little cheese trap game for Georgia.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: They got Bama next week. Just had a massive dominating
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: win over Oklahoma. I'm just going to go Vandy plus
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: 24 and a half. Let down look ahead for Georgia.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Let down look ahead.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: Does Kirby Smart have let down look aheads?
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: He has a let down look ahead in a sense
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: that they'll just pack it in. I mean, if John
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: Mateer is not on the field to help Georgia– and
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Jared Curtis just plays a normal game, Vandy can cover
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: that number. Vandy covered against Auburn last week. Vandy's going
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: to have a bunch of losses where they cover this year. Right. Yeah,
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: it's a really good team.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: And I don't need Kirby Smart to do the– maybe
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: he does, but these 18- to 22-year-old kids.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: 30-10.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: This is prime Georgia doing defensive line drills in the
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: fourth quarter. That's what this game is to me. Cade's
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: going to be locking them up. I'm going to take
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Michigan State, the nasty boys in green and white, disgusting school,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: disgusting place to live. I'll take them plus nine and
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: a half versus Wisconsin. Wisconsin, big win versus Penn State.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Let down.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Let down spot.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: People are going to be patting them in the ass. Oh,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Madison's great. Jump around.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: It's all awesome. You got to go on the road. Yeah.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: Michigan State. I hate even saying it out loud, but
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: I'll take them plus nine and a half. I hope
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: they don't win, but I hope they do cover.
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: Is that game at Wisconsin? I don't know.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Cody, is it at Wisconsin?
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: It is. All right, so never mind. They don't have
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: to go on the road. I actually love that. That
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: was one of my early best bets of the week.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: I got it at 10.5, which is irrelevant because it's
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: not available right now. Still, I love it. Is that
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: Ramen Noodle Express? Yep. I already put it on there. Wow.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: I might be tailing the Ramen Noodle Express this weekend.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: What is the record of the Ramen Noodle Express so
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: far this year? We are right at 60%. Is it.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: The last two weeks you've been 8-2?
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: No, two weeks ago we were 8-2. Last week I
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: was one game below 500, although I deserve better. But
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: still 60% on the year. Right, like almost on the nose, 60%
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: on the year. I'll be in there. I'll be in
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: there pumping. How about these parlays?
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: You said you're 60% ramen noodle?
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: You're also 60% lobster.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: Correlation.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Correlation.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Josh, you know, he's cooking. He's cooking.
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: Get into these parlays.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: All right, what do you got, Willie?
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: Alabama money line. Here we go.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Nebraska money line. West Virginia money line at Iowa State.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: We're going to need those three teams to win the
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: football games.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: Oh, it's about to get sick here.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: Northwestern, the receiving yards, over 217.5.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: Aiden Childs. I like him.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: I like him against Penn State this weekend.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Friday night. Friday night game. New stadium. New stadium.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: He hadn't thrown for less than 240 in each game.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: I know Penn State, they got a respectable passing defense,
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: but doesn't show up against Aiden Giles.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: Guess he's so sick to his stomach right now, dude.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: He's trying to look up the Pokemon.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: And then finally, the fifth leg, Ohio State rushing yards
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: over 104.5. That totals out to plus 1219. As a
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: five-leg parlay from Dr.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: Willie C.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: That's not my parlay, but I will be telling that.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Will that be in your community?
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: That'll be in my community. Go follow the Fandle community.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Follow Taylor LeJuan.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: Who does Nebraska play? Maryland.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Maryland.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Maryland.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: You guys got to dominate that game.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: Yeah. You got to dominate that game. Coach ruled a
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: lot of respect for Mike Loxley. Could have rolled over
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: and died.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Could have rolled over and died.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: A ton of respect for a guy who gets blown
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: out by half a hundred and a half. A ton
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: of respect. I messaged him.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: I said, Masterclass. Masterclass has given Loxley some flowers. They
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: could have packed it in last week.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Could have packed it in.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: Calabria.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Is Rule going to play?
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Does it matter?
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: I don't look at that. No. But also, does it matter?
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: It's more about just his health overall.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: I'm talking about Josh. Is this a letdown spot for Nebraska?
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: No. Uh... Again, it doesn't matter. This is probably a
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: head coach who could be Matt Rule's offensive coordinator next
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: year because he's going to be available. Nasty.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: It's a nasty comment. But I have no plans in
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: the future to go to Maryland, so say what you
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: want because I'm kind of with you.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Great state.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: They have a cool flag. Yeah, good food.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: Crab cakes.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: I love crab cakes.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: You want to hit your parlay? You want me to
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: hit my parlay?
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: I'll hit mine. West Virginia money line.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: Auburn money line.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: Kentucky money line. Oh! Returns plus 15.55. Wow. Who's Auburn
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: got this week? Auburn's got Tennessee and Knoxville. Alex Golish
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: returning home. To a place that hasn't been the same
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: offensively since he left, some say.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: Damn, that's a good parlay.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Alex Golish's home is Russia, by the way.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: My parlay.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Georgia, minus 24.5.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Florida, money line. Boise State, alternate spread, minus nine and
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: a half. Texas Tech, alternate spread, minus six and a half.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Arizona State Moneyline. That will return you a conservative plus 644.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: That one feels nice.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: It's a good parlay. It's a good parlay.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I have a few others, but you can find them
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: in my community. Tara Luan, Fandel, you can go look
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: at them. I will be putting those out because there's
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: a couple that are like, the boys are nice. The
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: boys are nice out there, you know?
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: Anything else?
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Any fleeting thoughts? Did you watch Michigan, Iowa? Yeah, I did.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Can I just bend your ear for a second?
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I had Michigan minus five and a half, felt
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: good about it. And I felt robbed. Yeah, okay. Like
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: I felt cheated.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: But then did you ever, you wouldn't feel this way
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: about Michigan, but pretend it wasn't Michigan, pretend it was
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: like USC or someone like that. Do you ever have
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: the thing where if you bet a team and you
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: lay points with a home favorite, you feel like you're
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: endorsing them. Like you're attaching your name to theirs. You're
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: trusting them. You trust Michigan. And you get to a
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: point where you think they're about to cover and you're like, yes.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: And then for whatever reason, they play the way they
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: do in the fourth quarter. And at some point you're
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: running the numbers. Like they're up five at one point
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: and I got five and a half. So I realized
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: it's 24 to 19. At best, they're going to sit
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: on the ball here. And then you start to feel
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: a little scorn in your heart. And once you realize
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: you've done the math, I'm not going to be able
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: to win and cover.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: And it's because of them, I kind of hope they
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: lose outright.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: Do you ever have that happen? Not Michigan, but any
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: other game where you lay the points with a favorite? Yeah.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I had the same thing with Tennessee and Texas.
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: So I started to feel that way. Okay. So I'd
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: be lying if I told you I didn't give a
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: little fist bump. A little, good for you, Kurt Ferentz.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: You needed this. If I can't win, why should Michigan win?
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: That's kind of where my heart was.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I'm going to choose to not take that personal.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: What does your little computer say about Michigan and Minnesota?
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: Well, it's not a little computer. It's 60% against the
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: spread this year.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Do we not have a lot of technology in 2026?
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: This is the same attitude.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: That bumps Austin Simmons out of the top seven in
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: the SEC right now.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: We've got to be respectful. There's an argument for it.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Cody Graves.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: There is an argument. So what did you ask me?
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: What was your question?
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: What does your little itty-bitty computer say about Minnesota and Michigan?
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: It leans Michigan, but who cares? It leaned Michigan last week.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: Are you willing to bleed for your team? P.J. Fleck's
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: willing to bleed for his.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: You're selling stock on P.J. Fleck right now.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll kill myself for Michigan, dude. Yeah. That's a
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: little bit of a gimmick. Like, if you are in
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: the Twin Cities and, like, you see that and you
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: have a Gopher banner, a Minnesota banner, I'm sure you
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: get excited about P.J. Fleck wearing his player's blood on
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: his face. But to the outside world, that's weird.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: When I was in school.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Can I be honest with you? The tie's a little
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: fucked up. I don't like seeing the tie and the
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: quarter zip.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: I don't think we need to call fashion into it.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: That's fair. I got to think about quarter zips, though.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Far be it from me.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a deal.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: When I was in school and pro wrestling was really big,
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: we would always get sent to the office for doing
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: the crotch chop and telling people to suck it in
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: class because we saw it on TV. Do you think
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: there were kids in the Minneapolis public school system that
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: got sent to the office for smearing their blood on
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: each other this week because they saw it on TV?
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Where are we as a society if that's not happening?
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Does P.J. Fleck have that much of influence on the
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: state of Minnesota?
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Wow. So like you're saying Stone Cold, Triple H, circa
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: late 90s, P.J. 's not there.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: You are saying names that I know, but I don't follow.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: wrestling so i'll say is that a yes you're.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Saying p you're saying fleck bank he ain't in that
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: yeah he doesn't.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Have that kind of i've sold the stock yeah you're
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: out on him like honestly if he wasn't like i
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: do like how well coached his teams are i said
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: that before they played mississippi state They seem to have
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: handled themselves well. Yeah. But no.
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: Which begs the question.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: If your new head coach loses to a head coach
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: that you've already sold stock on, what are you forced
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: to do with your Kyle Whittingham stock?
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: Oh, go down with the ship. Die. Yeah, I'm the
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: captain of the Titanic and I'm watching the wave come
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: in and I sit there and the violins are playing.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: And that's what happens. Yeah, the windows are creaking. But
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: do you sell your stock next week?
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: No, I'm on the ship that's going down. He's just
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: going to die.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I can't sell the stock. Stock goes down to one.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I bought it at a hundred. It's a 99% loss.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: I'm just going to lose that next 1%.
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: The lifeboat's right there. And you're looking around and saying,
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: we're prepared to go down. We're prepared to go down
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: in our finest.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: It's all taxes, dude. Take it as a loss, dude.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: It's all taxes. At that point, you're kind of hoping
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: for more. Like if we lose to Minnesota, it's like,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: let's just enjoy the pain. Let's make sure we feel
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: real again.
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: Let's bleed.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: You know, let's bleed a little bit. Wipe it on
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: our face. Braveheart style.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: And some people are like, we're undefeated. I can't relate.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: No, can't relate. Nebraska's undefeated.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Boy, there's a day coming for Nebraska. Not this week,
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: because you're focused on Maryland. But there is a day coming.
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: There is a day coming. In the not-too-distant future.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: White hot spotlight.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: It's going to be on Lincoln. Yeah.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: Can you always got to get, you got it. That's
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: the tough part too, is separating going one week at
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: a time. I didn't realize what I did.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: You know, what's funny is this man to my left is,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: we'll talk about chef as a Tennessee fan and be like,
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: you might get into a podcast with him if you
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: bring up the balls a little bit, but it's the same.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: With Nebraska.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: You ever seen V for Vendetta?
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: What are you talking about? And he does like, Will's
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: done an amazing job this year of like harnessing that.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: And we're about to let it out of the gate.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Like next week you handle Maryland. You let them out.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: You let them strut around a little bit.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: It's that scene in V for Vendetta. The dominoes are built.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: There are millions of them and you just walk up
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: to them and go. Yeah. And they form an N
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: instead of a V.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: We're close. Bob's going off, dude.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I'll tell you this, dude. If we don't fix the
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: penalties this week, fuck, I'm going to lose my mind.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: Third and 11 and you get a stop and then
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Zeke Berry pushes the guy. I'm in the camp of
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: you don't even put that kid in the position because
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: you should have won the game outright by multiple scores
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: at this point. But the fact that he does some
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: dumb shit like that, I'm like, dude, what are we
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: fucking doing? Makes me sick. Makes me sick. Offense looked
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: good though. Yeah. Bryce Underwood looked good.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: The numbers indicate you should have won going away.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: And then Iowa.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: We're one play away. From being undefeated, we're one play
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: away and one second away from being 2-2.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: Such is life. Yeah.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: It's a game of inches, dude. It's a game of inches.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: We'll be talking more about all this on Friday. Busting
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: the paint on campus. Blacksburg, Virginia this Friday. Lincoln, Nebraska
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: next Friday. We'll see you next week.
