- 0:07Speaker 2: wash Chef m Welcome to a brand new week. It's Monday.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to February. Last week on the show, we were
- 0:14Speaker 2: talking about the weather and how it really kind of
- 0:17Speaker 2: brought people to gather in a way that I haven't
- 0:19Speaker 2: seen in a while.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Well, they call it snow Creek because it was snow
- 0:23Speaker 3: and then sleet that created like concrete bricks of snow,
- 0:27Speaker 3: which is really hard to dig out of.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Sure, but people nonetheless like shelved themselves and took care
- 0:34Speaker 2: of their friends and neighbors and people who were in
- 0:37Speaker 2: the neighborhood who might have needed some help. And we
- 0:40Speaker 2: got a talk back message from one of those people.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I'm a seventy six year old lady and I went
- 0:45Speaker 4: out to clean in front of the garage which I
- 0:47Speaker 4: went in my apartment complex.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I had just started owen.
- 0:51Speaker 4: A young fellow go buy stopped his car, got out
- 0:55Speaker 4: and said, let me do that for you don't know
- 0:58Speaker 4: who he was. He didn't give his name, help me
- 1:01Speaker 4: clean it out, got back in his car and left.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I'm so glad she left us that message because now
- 1:07Speaker 3: I'm in a good mood because, as we talked about
- 1:09Speaker 3: this last week, it restores our faith in humanity.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And the fact that she took the second a second
- 1:15Speaker 2: of her life to tell us that story underscores the
- 1:18Speaker 2: fact that joy is contagious. So that's why we're feeling
- 1:21Speaker 2: some joy this morning. What about you? Eight six six,
- 1:24Speaker 2: ninety seven forty three sixty one is the number you
- 1:26Speaker 2: can tap the talk back microphone if you want to
- 1:28Speaker 2: share some of that joy. Why are you feeling good
- 1:30Speaker 2: this morning? Always love hearing from you. At ninety seven
- 1:33Speaker 2: point one was Chef m. We're coming up next the news,

- 2:14Speaker 3: eighteen year old man from Leesburg has been arrested and
- 2:17Speaker 3: charged in connection with an early morning explosion in Louden
- 2:21Speaker 3: County last October that was caused by an improvised explosive device.
- 2:26Speaker 3: The suspect is being held without bond. Montgomery County Police
- 2:30Speaker 3: say they have identified a twelve year old girl as
- 2:34Speaker 3: the person who made a false nine to one to
- 2:36Speaker 3: one call last September from a school bus reporting a
- 2:39Speaker 3: shooting near Montgomery Villat Center, which prompted a large police response.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Officials say no criminal charges will be filed. A power
- 2:49Speaker 3: outage hit Tyson's Corner Mall for a couple of hours yesterday.

- 3:27Speaker 3: it's twenty in Capital Heights.
- 3:29Speaker 2: That is the news. Remember you get your top stories
- 3:31Speaker 2: at the top of the hour. It's like an intelligence
- 3:34Speaker 2: briefing when you listen to Toby and Chilly in the
- 3:36Speaker 2: morning on ninety seven point one WASHFM, and you also
- 3:39Speaker 2: find smith inspiration. We hope man in this case, your
- 3:43Speaker 2: morning mindset today comes from one of you who listened
- 3:47Speaker 2: to us. See it's a wide open door. You can
- 3:49Speaker 2: take the microphone whenever you want. These words to inspire
- 3:52Speaker 2: are on the way. Time now for some words that
- 3:57Speaker 2: we hope will inspire you, maybe help you to aret
- 4:00Speaker 2: this brand new week in a better sort of way.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Maybe you might need this, or maybe you might know
- 4:05Speaker 2: somebody who does. It's time now for.
- 4:07Speaker 3: The morning mindset, where we find a quote and share
- 4:10Speaker 3: it with you to think about the rest of the day.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And this comes from Megan to San who is a listener.
- 4:14Speaker 2: She says, Lucille Ball's inspired me. Lucille Ball, the great actor,
- 4:20Speaker 2: said love yourself first, and everything else falls into line.
- 4:24Speaker 2: You really have to love yourself to get anything done
- 4:28Speaker 2: in this world. You know, self love. Some people look
- 4:30Speaker 2: at that like it's selfishness, but it's not really. If
- 4:33Speaker 2: you love yourself first, that's self love. And when you
- 4:36Speaker 2: love yourself, all of these other things that might have
- 4:40Speaker 2: troubled you, they become menial and everything else just seems
- 4:43Speaker 2: to fall into place. So love yourself and get stuff
- 4:47Speaker 2: done in this world. And Megan, thank you for sharing
- 4:50Speaker 2: that with us as we get this brand new week
- 4:52Speaker 2: started at your morning mindset for this Monday, Lucille Ball
- 4:56Speaker 2: dropping the microphone and if you've got some words that
- 4:59Speaker 2: have inspired you, you could be just like Meghan descent send
- 5:02Speaker 2: it our way. Fund us on the Toby and chilipage
- 5:04Speaker 2: at washchefm dot com and perhaps maybe you could inspire
- 5:08Speaker 2: the DMV to conquer a brand new day. We're ninety
- 5:11Speaker 2: seven point one, WASHEFM Toby and Chile in the morning.
- 5:13Speaker 2: We're coming up next.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Mercedes has come up with a vehicle perfect for workaholics.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Oh boy, is.
- 5:20Speaker 3: This something you would really be interested in?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Wait till you hear what they're doing. And oh we
- 5:27Speaker 2: look forward to your thoughts. If you have some, you
- 5:29Speaker 2: know where we are chiming. We'll get to it coming up.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Hello there, my parents name me Toby. Over there, that's
- 5:36Speaker 2: Chili Amar. Together. We are Toby and Chile in the
- 5:38Speaker 2: morning at ninety seven point one WASHCHFM. So there's a
- 5:43Speaker 2: new Mercedes that is perfect for the workaholic, as Chili
- 5:47Speaker 2: just said.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It's basically the Mercedes Benz CLA and it's the first
- 5:54Speaker 3: Mercedes to offer full native Microsoft Teams integration. Okay, So
- 6:00Speaker 3: here's what it is. Teams is built directly into the dashboard.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So you can use the in cabin cameras and the
- 6:06Speaker 3: five G connectivity for video calls while you're parked, jay, okay,
- 6:10Speaker 3: and then once you start moving, the video switches off
- 6:13Speaker 3: and it's just audio for safety.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Okay. So that's good because I was a little worried
- 6:18Speaker 2: about that. I don't want to see somebody, you know,
- 6:20Speaker 2: getting on to two seventy of the Beltway from Potomac
- 6:23Speaker 2: while in the middle of a team's meeting.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That's right, But wait, there's more. You can also use
- 6:27Speaker 3: voice commands to summarize your emails, manage your schedules, and
- 6:31Speaker 3: stay on top of work tasks.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Oh boy, Okay, that's too much. And I say that
- 6:38Speaker 2: knowing that I have been accused and I'm guilty as
- 6:41Speaker 2: charged of being a workaholics. Sometimes I don't turn it off,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and that therein lies a lot of the root of
- 6:46Speaker 2: other problems.
- 6:47Speaker 3: You don't like this idea of turning your car into
- 6:49Speaker 3: a mobile office.
- 6:50Speaker 2: No, I mean, I'll take a phone call.
- 6:52Speaker 6: Right.
- 6:53Speaker 2: If I can take a phone call and just listen
- 6:55Speaker 2: and I don't have to chime in on anything, I'll
- 6:57Speaker 2: just listen, be informed, that's fine. But no, this, You know,
- 7:01Speaker 2: there has to be a line in the sand. There
- 7:03Speaker 2: has to be something that says enough.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Although I feel like there are some I think career
- 7:09Speaker 3: field where this might be good, like if you're a
- 7:11Speaker 3: real estate agent, because their offices are their vehicles a
- 7:14Speaker 3: lot of times, and if you're parked somewhere and you're
- 7:16Speaker 3: trying to be productive, I can see where you can
- 7:19Speaker 3: do some teams calls or check your emails in this
- 7:22Speaker 3: way with voice commands. But for the average person, I I, yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 3: I think that I don't. I don't need any more
- 7:28Speaker 3: distractions when I'm behind the wheel.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, right, period, And I don't want the job to
- 7:33Speaker 2: know that I've got the ability to take teams meetings
- 7:36Speaker 2: when I'm driving like you know. We know you have
- 7:37Speaker 2: a Mercedes, so you can take teams calls and you
- 7:40Speaker 2: can be a part of this meeting virtually. Okay, please, Well,
- 7:44Speaker 2: maybe this might be something that interests you, maybe not,
- 7:47Speaker 2: but if you want to read more about it, find
- 7:49Speaker 2: it on the Toby and chilipage at washfm dot com.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And if you've got thoughts, tap that talk back microphone.

- 14:31Speaker 2: I love Rick Rubin so much. No, you wouldn't want
- 14:33Speaker 2: to watch. It wouldn't be very good. However, there's got

- 14:38Speaker 2: a documentary about. Michael good Morning in Fairfax. Thanks for
- 14:42Speaker 2: listening to us. Go ahead, tell us who that would
- 14:44Speaker 2: be and why.
- 14:44Speaker 8: Yeah, I would love to see a documentary about Ron Howard,
- 14:47Speaker 8: his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard and their family.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I bet that would be an amazing story. They're just
- 14:53Speaker 2: such a talented family.
- 14:55Speaker 3: That is a very random suggestion, but you're right. Ron
- 14:59Speaker 3: Howard has been around since he was a child. Yes,
- 15:02Speaker 3: from Andy Griffiths show, that's right. He went from being
- 15:07Speaker 3: an actor to being a famous director, all the things.
- 15:10Speaker 2: And you know, I've followed different YouTube rabbit holes about
- 15:13Speaker 2: the Bryce Dallas Howard his daughter, and about Ron Howard,
- 15:17Speaker 2: and I find it very unfair that she was labeled
- 15:20Speaker 2: as a NEPO baby.
- 15:20Speaker 3: No, she's very talented, yes, and extremely talented.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Thank you for that. That's actually amazing. And now we're

- 15:29Speaker 2: Right now, here's Stephanie. She's listening to us in Tacoma Park. Stephanie,
- 15:33Speaker 2: who would you love to see a celebrity documentary of?
- 15:37Speaker 2: And why?
- 15:38Speaker 6: And Britney spears, but like all of it, like with
- 15:41Speaker 6: her childhood, the fame, the control and the silence and
- 15:45Speaker 6: no voiceovers from random experts, just her finally narrating her
- 15:49Speaker 6: own life.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Thanks so much for that, Stephanie. And I was going
- 15:53Speaker 3: to say, hey, there are already a bunch of Britney
- 15:55Speaker 3: docs out there, but none that she has narrated or
- 15:59Speaker 3: told her own stories. So that would be great.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I would like to put little clips of videos up
- 16:02Speaker 2: in front of Brittany and let Brittany explain them, like
- 16:05Speaker 2: the whole head shave thing, the whole thing with the
- 16:08Speaker 2: umbrella and the car I mean, girlfriend has had quite
- 16:12Speaker 2: the life in every good and bad way possible. Excellent suggestion.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Is there a celebrity you would love to see in
- 16:18Speaker 2: the documentary? You've still got time to reach out to
- 16:20Speaker 2: us at eight sixty six nine two seven forty three

- 21:06Speaker 3: And coming up next. It's Monday, and we've got a
- 21:09Speaker 3: story that we think will make your Monday. Last year
- 21:12Speaker 3: was the one year anniversary of that devastating mid air
- 21:15Speaker 3: crash over the Potomac, and a Northern Virginia skating community
- 21:19Speaker 3: is honoring the sixty seven lives lost by turning their
- 21:24Speaker 3: grief into grace on the ice.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you've got to hear this. It is just minutes away.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Every Monday morning, right around this time, we like to
- 21:31Speaker 2: share a story with you that we think might just
- 21:33Speaker 2: make your Monday. Ninety seven point one wash FM. We're
- 21:37Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the Morning and we go to
- 21:38Speaker 2: Northern Virginia, the heart of Northern Virginia, where something quiet
- 21:42Speaker 2: and beautiful is taking shape on the ice. You know,
- 21:45Speaker 2: it's been a year since there was the midair collision
- 21:47Speaker 2: over the Potomac. It took the lives of sixty seven people,
- 21:51Speaker 2: including the young figure skaters, coaches and families, all tied
- 21:55Speaker 2: to the local skating world. The rinks where those skaters
- 21:58Speaker 2: learned to glide and dream, they're now places of remembrance
- 22:01Speaker 2: and resilience.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So at the Ashbourn ice House, skaters they carry memories
- 22:06Speaker 3: of friends that they lost and of the routines that
- 22:08Speaker 3: they're never going to be dancing again. And they decided
- 22:11Speaker 3: in one corner of that rink to put a simple sculpture.
- 22:16Speaker 3: It's two figures and they're reaching upwards, captured in motion,
- 22:20Speaker 3: and their metal forms echo the joy of flight on ice,
- 22:24Speaker 3: which I think is so beautiful.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It is hard for those in the community to believe
- 22:27Speaker 2: that it's been a year, but every candle lit beside
- 22:30Speaker 2: the sculpture, every soft glide across the ice, every shared
- 22:33Speaker 2: smile keeps the memories alive.
- 22:37Speaker 3: So at the Ashbourn ice House, skating is obviously not
- 22:40Speaker 3: just a sport. It's love, it's memory and it's a
- 22:43Speaker 3: way for their community to hold on and not just
- 22:45Speaker 3: by freezing time, but by moving forward together and honoring
- 22:49Speaker 3: those that they lost with every beat of their blades
- 22:53Speaker 3: on that ice, with the beautiful sculpture that they have now, it's.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Pretty amazing story. You can read it again on the
- 22:58Speaker 2: Toby and Chili page at washed dot com and you
- 23:01Speaker 2: can see for all of the reasons that squeeze the
- 23:04Speaker 2: heart why this story might just make your Monday. Check

- 26:26Speaker 2: That's been on my mind for the last week. That's next,

- 26:32Speaker 2: week and weekend. To Toby and Chilly in the Morning
- 26:35Speaker 2: ninety seven point one wash FM, Chili. You know, my
- 26:38Speaker 2: significant other and I've been together for a long time,
- 26:40Speaker 2: and one of the things I've tried to start doing
- 26:42Speaker 2: is I've tried to start like sending little texts at
- 26:45Speaker 2: the end of the day to let her know that
- 26:47Speaker 2: I do care. I've tried to leave you know, her
- 26:49Speaker 2: handwritten notes which show that I've made time to actually
- 26:53Speaker 2: stop and think. And at the end of the day
- 26:55Speaker 2: I do, as I'm drifting off to sleep, stop and
- 26:57Speaker 2: I think about things. And I sent her this text
- 26:59Speaker 2: on toonesday night and her response was a little bit interesting.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Okay, tell me what you wrote her and then let
- 27:06Speaker 3: me know what she said.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I go love me knowing if I go to sleep
- 27:10Speaker 2: for the last time tonight, that part of me will
- 27:12Speaker 2: live on forever and you love you good.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Night, okay, and she replied with why the hell are
- 27:19Speaker 3: you talking like that?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Are you dumb? That's me making fun of her Arkansas
- 27:23Speaker 2: accent because she's from Arkansas, he was born there. Now,
- 27:27Speaker 2: I was a little shocked, so I didn't even respond.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I just let it go to be.
- 27:33Speaker 5: Like, oh, honey, thank you so much.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Oh here's the issue with your text. Although it was very,
- 27:41Speaker 3: very sweet, I don't think the morbid mention of if
- 27:45Speaker 3: you never wake up again or whatever you said in
- 27:47Speaker 3: the beginning was really needed. Okay, but it's.
- 27:50Speaker 2: True I was trying to be poetic as if I
- 27:53Speaker 2: was a songwriter writing a love song.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Okay, But you really genuinely have been dealing with a
- 27:57Speaker 3: lot of health issues, and she has been there for you,
- 28:00Speaker 3: thick and thin, and the last thing she wants to
- 28:02Speaker 3: think about is you never waking up again. So if
- 28:04Speaker 3: you just omitted that beginning and said, hey, just wanted
- 28:09Speaker 3: you to know I couldn't have done all this without
- 28:11Speaker 3: you and I love you so much good night, that
- 28:14Speaker 3: probably would have been enough.
- 28:16Speaker 2: So are you telling me that you would have responded,
- 28:18Speaker 2: why the hell are you talking like that?
- 28:19Speaker 3: Are you dumb too, a version of that probably yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 3: next time, just keep it simple, Toby, can you tell
- 28:26Speaker 3: me what you want on that for you? You're dumb?
- 28:30Speaker 2: That could be that breaking news here at ninety seven

- 28:51Speaker 1: don't see any other way out.
