- 0:59Speaker 6: May I pointing out every time. So instead of giving
- 1:02Speaker 6: him forward progress, they gave it to him.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They actually took him back, you know, but he really
- 1:06Speaker 1: he can't give him forward progress if he's not being tackled.
- 1:12Speaker 4: No, you can't.
- 1:13Speaker 6: If you let me ask you something, if that was
- 1:14Speaker 6: the plan of the goal line, would it have been
- 1:15Speaker 6: a touchdown? If he crossed, no further questions. I understand
- 1:21Speaker 6: better than that. You know that sends me to war. Yes,
- 1:26Speaker 6: I gave you an intentional Andy Hart hyperbole, but do
- 1:30Speaker 6: not tell me to be better.
- 1:31Speaker 4: I'm not better.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone that
- 1:34Speaker 1: Andy called Mahomes a soccer player multiple times during that
- 1:38Speaker 1: year's draft show. Yeah, yeah, a soccer player.
- 1:42Speaker 6: Well done.

- 2:00Speaker 7: Off season now, Fred, it's off season. You can't eve
- 2:02Speaker 7: talk about the super Bowl anymore. We're just we're into
- 2:04Speaker 7: the void of.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Deuce, it's Alex. Welcome back.
- 2:07Speaker 8: Thanks.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I didn't know if you were still with us.
- 2:09Speaker 8: Well, I ran out of PTO, so what am I
- 2:11Speaker 8: going to do?
- 2:11Speaker 4: She took them.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Evan's here, falls here, Matt's in the booth and come
- 2:18Speaker 1: and seeing a ghost. So we're talking Patriots. Not with
- 2:20Speaker 1: that's hand, thank you. Uh, We're talking Patriots for the
- 2:24Speaker 1: next two hours and whatever else comes to mind. But
- 2:28Speaker 1: I was just walking around today and they're redoing the
- 2:32Speaker 1: whole coaching area, like all construction. It's like major major
- 2:37Speaker 1: renovation down there.
- 2:38Speaker 6: You're walking around the coaching area.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Where are Yeah, you get hands on.
- 2:42Speaker 9: The culture, no playbooks, building silos.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of it. There are doing a
- 2:49Speaker 1: lot of a lot of while the players are out
- 2:54Speaker 1: and to get ready for the twenty twenty four season.
- 2:56Speaker 9: Really worried about the important things.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Yeah, to watch out. Evan's on edge right now. Evan's
- 3:01Speaker 4: on edge generally.
- 3:02Speaker 6: What's wrong with him?
- 3:03Speaker 4: I'll let him speak for himself.
- 3:04Speaker 1: But Jersey Mike's closed again.
- 3:08Speaker 9: On the snow day I did, and I was really
- 3:11Speaker 9: upset about that. It's like there's like two snow day
- 3:13Speaker 9: that wasn't I was like, there's two inches of snow.
- 3:16Speaker 9: Jersey Mike's come back.
- 3:16Speaker 7: To the poor people that like didn't get to work
- 3:19Speaker 7: that day. Like there are people that are like, no,
- 3:20Speaker 7: don't come in, like you know, people need money, paychecks,
- 3:23Speaker 7: and like.
- 3:24Speaker 9: I was trying to base my order on the app
- 3:26Speaker 9: and it said not taking any orders and I was like, why.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Well, at least that's a courtesy. They didn't take the
- 3:31Speaker 4: order and then just burn it.
- 3:32Speaker 9: That's that's true. That happened to of course pizza time
- 3:36Speaker 9: was open there.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Yeah, that happened to Bob.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Yeah that's what he told me.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Okay, put him in order and yeah they received.
- 3:42Speaker 4: The just went into these They took his money.
- 3:43Speaker 6: You know how to take You just don't know how
- 3:46Speaker 6: to keep the rest of nice sandwich.
- 3:47Speaker 4: No sandwich was produced.
- 3:49Speaker 1: So what else is bothering you?
- 3:51Speaker 9: Well, you know we did this on we did this
- 3:53Speaker 9: on Catch.
- 3:54Speaker 4: I mean what else?
- 3:55Speaker 9: I mean always you can.
- 3:56Speaker 7: Tell it's all simmering under the surface right now with him,
- 3:59Speaker 7: We just he's it in.
- 4:01Speaker 9: We did this on Catch twenty two. So I don't
- 4:03Speaker 9: you know, I don't want to completely go on the
- 4:04Speaker 9: rant again, but I've been really bothered up until yesterday
- 4:09Speaker 9: when we heard from Alex van Pelt. Finally, finally somebody
- 4:13Speaker 9: actually talking about football around here and not talking about
- 4:16Speaker 9: silos and bridges and you know, culture and this guy like,
- 4:22Speaker 9: can somebody tell me how the twenty twenty four Patriots
- 4:25Speaker 9: are going to win a football game?
- 4:27Speaker 1: Okay?
- 4:28Speaker 9: Can somebody tell me what's the what's you know.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It's February, yes, and they can I do it in
- 4:34Speaker 1: the staff together and I.
- 4:35Speaker 9: Do know that every other head coach that had an
- 4:39Speaker 9: introductory press conference gets up there and tells you what
- 4:42Speaker 9: his vision for how he wants to be as a
- 4:45Speaker 9: football team. And I'm one of these people that is
- 4:48Speaker 9: pretty anti Dan Campbell, to be honest with you, But
- 4:50Speaker 9: at least a couple of years ago when the Lions
- 4:52Speaker 9: hired him, as much as we all made fun of
- 4:53Speaker 9: the kneecaps, right, he had a real vision of this
- 4:58Speaker 9: is how we are going to play football in Detroit.
- 5:01Speaker 9: What is girod Mayo's vision for this football team? What
- 5:04Speaker 9: is the what is the whole organization's vision? Because to
- 5:06Speaker 9: be honest with you, the two things that I keep
- 5:08Speaker 9: hearing about are how everybody's gonna be nicer to each other,
- 5:12Speaker 9: all right? And the second thing I keep hearing is
- 5:14Speaker 9: us just killing Bill Belichick on the way out.
- 5:17Speaker 4: So that great. You know what I enjoyed.
- 5:19Speaker 9: I enjoyed winning, So how are we gonna enjoy How
- 5:21Speaker 9: are we going to get back to winning and worry
- 5:24Speaker 9: less about silos and bridges and you know, like singing
- 5:29Speaker 9: Kumbaya together?
- 5:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
- 5:31Speaker 6: Okay, don't forget collaborative.
- 5:33Speaker 9: Hello, thank you collaborative.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So in the case of Dan Campbell, yes, right, even
- 5:39Speaker 1: though it was only temporary, he had been a head
- 5:41Speaker 1: coach before, right temporarily. And most of these guys that
- 5:46Speaker 1: we're talking about have had some experience running a team before.
- 5:51Speaker 1: This guy didn't. I think he's learning on the job.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And when he talks about building bridges, he's got some
- 5:58Speaker 1: work to do, because there was a in the locker room,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know, as recently as two months.
- 6:04Speaker 9: Ago, just at least Alex van Pelt yesterday got up
- 6:07Speaker 9: there and said, I believe in running the ball.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Okay, I believe. So what's the difference between Alex van
- 6:12Speaker 1: Pelt and Gerd Mayo.
- 6:13Speaker 9: Experience is that where you're getting exactly he's done it before,
- 6:16Speaker 9: so he has some frame of reference to draw it.
- 6:19Speaker 9: Worries me. It sounds very corporate to me. I hear you,
- 6:22Speaker 9: I hear you, And we'll see we're football.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Listen. If if we're still talking about this in May,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I'm with you. You know, I'm with you. And hopefully
- 6:33Speaker 1: maybe we'll get a sense of in the draft like
- 6:36Speaker 1: or a free agency even sooner than that, what what
- 6:39Speaker 1: kind of team they do want to be by the
- 6:41Speaker 1: type of players that they're targeting, but I don't know.
- 6:44Speaker 9: The vision worries me.
- 6:45Speaker 4: This is all.
- 6:46Speaker 6: This is all sork me a lot longer to get
- 6:48Speaker 6: you with this spot.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yes, this is all a work in progress.
- 6:52Speaker 9: I mean, are you you understand what I'm saying.
- 6:54Speaker 6: I do understand what you're saying. I'm not as bothered
- 6:57Speaker 6: by it. Yeah, I understand, Charlie.
- 7:00Speaker 9: From what we've heard from Gerard Mayo this whole time,
- 7:03Speaker 9: and then just yesterday, just hearing that one minute of
- 7:06Speaker 9: Alex van Pel like, oh good, I'm glad somebody is
- 7:09Speaker 9: talking about football, Like I'm glad somebody is worried.
- 7:11Speaker 6: About run centric. But at least it was a goal.
- 7:17Speaker 9: And like of all the things that we can say
- 7:19Speaker 9: about Bill, in the end, I didn't agree with any
- 7:21Speaker 9: of the way that he was building the team, but
- 7:24Speaker 9: he did have a vision for how they wanted to
- 7:26Speaker 9: build the team.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Sure, and again he had also experienced I think Girard
- 7:30Speaker 1: is bringing in people and that he's going to lean
- 7:34Speaker 1: on for that vision, you know, in terms of offense, defense, Uh, right, right,
- 7:40Speaker 1: right now, Gerard is you know, he's occupied with building
- 7:44Speaker 1: his his coaching staff, which I think is pretty much
- 7:47Speaker 1: done now. And then you know, how am I going
- 7:51Speaker 1: to structure this team from a culture standpoint? You know
- 7:54Speaker 1: what am I going to put in place for everybody
- 7:57Speaker 1: that is going to match my vision? And that's what
- 8:00Speaker 1: he's working on right now. But he's right now. Alex
- 8:03Speaker 1: van Pelt is in charge of the offense, DeMarcus Covington's
- 8:06Speaker 1: in charge of the defense, And as Drodd says, he's
- 8:10Speaker 1: hired people who he expects to tell me what to do.
- 8:13Speaker 1: These guys have they're gonna like.
- 8:15Speaker 9: That Fred, you know, well he's the head coach of
- 8:17Speaker 9: the team. Like, it's your vision, it's your team.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Well, you know what I'm saying.
- 8:21Speaker 9: I know, but I agree with you.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Rod Mayos not building the offense. Do we want him
- 8:26Speaker 1: to know? We don't.
- 8:27Speaker 9: I just I was already at this point to an
- 8:29Speaker 9: extent because of the whole offensive coordinator search. And my
- 8:33Speaker 9: biggest thing with this hire was that I wanted a
- 8:38Speaker 9: coach that already knew who his offensive coordinator was going
- 8:41Speaker 9: to be. You know, get you look at in Atlanta,
- 8:44Speaker 9: right Raheem Moris gets the job, Zach Robinson's the offensive
- 8:48Speaker 9: coordinator within twenty four hours. You know, you look at
- 8:50Speaker 9: in Washington, Cliff Kingsbury backed out on the Raiders to
- 8:54Speaker 9: go with Dan Quinn to Washington. I am sure that
- 8:57Speaker 9: that was communicated beforehand. That wasn't something that just came
- 9:00Speaker 9: him out of thin air.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Sure, right, you know those are these who was It
- 9:04Speaker 6: all gets back to your experience.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It does. It all gets back to the experience all
- 9:08Speaker 1: these guys.
- 9:08Speaker 6: But that doesn't mean it's good.
- 9:10Speaker 1: No, this is the This is the risk, and we
- 9:13Speaker 1: know it's a risk.
- 9:15Speaker 6: You know, if Robert I understand Robert Kraft.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Would admit it's risk when you hire a guy who's
- 9:21Speaker 1: never done it before.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Yeah, but that's not like I've seen plenty of guys
- 9:26Speaker 6: who've never done it before that come in and explain
- 9:28Speaker 6: how they want to do it. I think Evan's a
- 9:30Speaker 6: little put off by the fact that we haven't really
- 9:33Speaker 6: heard any of that. I hope that he knows how
- 9:35Speaker 6: he wants to do it and just hasn't communicated it
- 9:38Speaker 6: to the public, which is fine. If that's the case,
- 9:41Speaker 6: I think Evan might have some concerns that he's not
- 9:44Speaker 6: exactly sure how he.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Wants to do I'll bet you he isn't good. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: well that's that's reality.
- 9:51Speaker 7: I just feel like anything he would say, it's just
- 9:52Speaker 7: going to be coach speaking.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It's gonna be cliche. I would rather have coach speaking.
- 9:56Speaker 4: You just want the service of like, we're gonna go
- 9:59Speaker 4: out there, we're gonna score more points than the other team,
- 10:01Speaker 4: and we're gonna do it because we're gonna be tough
- 10:02Speaker 4: and we're gonna play smartph.
- 10:04Speaker 6: You don't have to do the Joe Judge thing. And
- 10:07Speaker 6: we're gonna have an organization that you know is going
- 10:09Speaker 6: to represent the area.
- 10:10Speaker 1: But is there.
- 10:11Speaker 9: Anything that he could say in that announcement.
- 10:13Speaker 4: That would make you say, oh, that's a little different,
- 10:15Speaker 4: Like it's going to Devil's advocate.
- 10:17Speaker 10: Like if his staff isn't completely assembled yet, how does
- 10:20Speaker 10: he necessarily know what the vision is going to be?
- 10:22Speaker 1: Sure, he doesn't even know who his quarterback is going
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be.
- 10:25Speaker 6: I think that's evans concern. Yeah, but he I mean
- 10:27Speaker 6: the fact that he doesn't know those things.
- 10:29Speaker 1: He doesn't know those things. He doesn't know who his
- 10:30Speaker 1: quarterback is going to be. He doesn't, you know, Like
- 10:33Speaker 1: there's so much unknown right now, you know, beyond the
- 10:36Speaker 1: fact that he has no experience being a head coach
- 10:39Speaker 1: before or even a coordinator. You know, so this is
- 10:43Speaker 1: what we've got, folks, you know, and let's hope it
- 10:46Speaker 1: works out.
- 10:48Speaker 9: There's a lot of things that I like about job mate.
- 10:50Speaker 9: I'm not trying to kill him, I'm not, but I
- 10:53Speaker 9: was concern Number one happened when they interviewed fifty people
- 10:57Speaker 9: for offensive coordinator, and I was just like, oh, know,
- 11:00Speaker 9: like they they don't have a coordinator, they don't know
- 11:03Speaker 9: who it is. If it I would have had concerns
- 11:06Speaker 9: about Nick Kyley. But if he had just gone and
- 11:09Speaker 9: hired Nick Kyley, I would have said, yeah, he probably
- 11:11Speaker 9: had connected with Nick Kyley here. And when he said,
- 11:14Speaker 9: what is when I take over, I want you to
- 11:17Speaker 9: be my coordinator? Great, that's what happened with Rahe Morris
- 11:20Speaker 9: in Atlanta.
- 11:21Speaker 1: But that's about it. Realistically, a guy who's never been
- 11:24Speaker 1: a head coach hiring a guy who's never been an
- 11:26Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, what do you what are we doing?
- 11:29Speaker 9: I would have had concerns about that for those exact reasons,
- 11:32Speaker 9: but at least I would have been like, that's conviction,
- 11:34Speaker 9: Like you knew who your guy was going to be.
- 11:37Speaker 9: And right now I think Alex van Pel I like
- 11:40Speaker 9: a lot of things that he said in that clip.
- 11:42Speaker 9: I like a lot of the things that he represents
- 11:43Speaker 9: from Cleveland, but I think that that was where was it?
- 11:47Speaker 9: Where was Alex Van Pelt on the list?
- 11:48Speaker 1: I will quote Ernie Adams, if you're not inside these walls,
- 11:52Speaker 1: you don't know.
- 11:53Speaker 9: Yeah, we can talk about how do you know?
- 11:56Speaker 1: How do you know that? Like, how do you know
- 11:59Speaker 1: that scribes know? They didn't they didn't go through the
- 12:02Speaker 1: interview process with all these people to get the information.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But Elliott Wolf knew who the offensive sports.
- 12:09Speaker 9: So here's the thing that I will say, and I
- 12:13Speaker 9: Elliott Wolf is the one beacon of hope I have
- 12:15Speaker 9: in this entire organization right now, because that's a man
- 12:18Speaker 9: that I think actually knows what he's doing. I think
- 12:20Speaker 9: he's done it before. I think he's got connections in
- 12:22Speaker 9: the league. I think he knows people. I think people
- 12:25Speaker 9: think he's ready for this job. And he has experienced
- 12:27Speaker 9: in the league. This is not somebody that's been coaching
- 12:30Speaker 9: for a couple of years and then took over the job.
- 12:32Speaker 9: He's been he's been doing it for twenty years. So
- 12:34Speaker 9: Elliott Wolf save us.
- 12:36Speaker 1: And it's clear that his stamp is on a lot
- 12:38Speaker 1: of these moves.
- 12:38Speaker 9: Right That's that's the one beacon of hope front office ones.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think you're being a little dramatic, and that's fine.
- 12:44Speaker 4: This is radio.
- 12:47Speaker 6: I didn't have the show opening like that to that.
- 12:50Speaker 1: He was dramatic.
- 12:51Speaker 4: He was steaming a little bit, and I was like,
- 12:52Speaker 4: this is a great way just to get into it.
- 12:56Speaker 8: I haven't seen it.
- 12:57Speaker 9: It's been brewing.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Last time I saw you this matter is when Alex
- 13:01Speaker 6: said that you can't be walking a great it's.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Thee Alex Barth's school of fabricated drama.
- 13:06Speaker 9: I know school. This is not a fabricated This has
- 13:10Speaker 9: been brewing, and I've been telling myself to just give
- 13:14Speaker 9: it a chance and let's see what happens.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I don't know what you expected.
- 13:20Speaker 9: I expected a plan. I don't think they have a plan.
- 13:23Speaker 8: A plan since.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I I this is what I kind of expected.
- 13:30Speaker 6: You thought that they were going to walk away from
- 13:31Speaker 6: Bill Belichick and not know what the next step was,
- 13:35Speaker 6: because that's kind of what it seems to me.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I was like, okay, it's I do. I think I thought.
- 13:43Speaker 6: They had an idea of what they wanted.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Again, you know how many how many other teams when
- 13:49Speaker 1: they're changing coaches do it from the best of all time?
- 13:53Speaker 1: How many? How many teams when they change their quarterback
- 13:56Speaker 1: do it from the best of all But now you're
- 13:58Speaker 1: a monumental size shifts in this organization.
- 14:01Speaker 6: But now you're changing, you're changing the question. Now you're saying, like,
- 14:04Speaker 6: who expected them to succeed?
- 14:06Speaker 1: I did say that, No.
- 14:08Speaker 6: But like, what's the difference who you're replacing. You know,
- 14:11Speaker 6: you're replacing somebody, is there a plan to replace them?
- 14:15Speaker 6: That doesn't matter if you I mean, to your point,
- 14:18Speaker 6: you're replacing the best ever coach. Yeah, so it's probably
- 14:21Speaker 6: not going to be as good, absolutely understood. That's not
- 14:25Speaker 6: my points. But you shouldn't know what you want to do.
- 14:27Speaker 6: If you're going to replace the guy, you should know
- 14:29Speaker 6: what you want to do.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I don't think that.
- 14:31Speaker 6: I know they wanted Gerard Mayo to replace them, Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 6: but and then.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But I don't know if they wanted Gerard Mayo to
- 14:36Speaker 1: replace them this year. I think I think the whole
- 14:40Speaker 1: plan got accelerated a little bit.
- 14:42Speaker 6: Yes, But my point being it's it's not a but
- 14:46Speaker 6: it doesn't matter who you're replacing. The caliber of coach
- 14:49Speaker 6: you're replacing matters in terms of your performance.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Absolutely it does.
- 14:53Speaker 6: But not in terms of what you're going to do now.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I think that you're underestimating the effect of moving on
- 14:59Speaker 1: from Belichick had not just with the crafts, but players,
- 15:04Speaker 1: assistant coaches, and you know when when you're talking about
- 15:08Speaker 1: building bridges and all this, you can't you know, like
- 15:11Speaker 1: maybe there was an undercurrent and that caused a lot
- 15:15Speaker 1: of riffs in the locker room. But you can't be
- 15:17Speaker 1: like planning on offensive coordinators before Bill leaves and not
- 15:21Speaker 1: have you know, perhaps a revolt. You know, you had
- 15:25Speaker 1: to be very deft about this, and they you.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Don't think could have been thinking in December, what do
- 15:31Speaker 6: you want to do?
- 15:32Speaker 1: You can't be making calls around the league.
- 15:34Speaker 6: You don't make calls. You think about what you want
- 15:36Speaker 6: to do.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Okay, But he doesn't know that's my point.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't know what you don't point what's he drawing?
- 15:41Speaker 1: And I agree, But like I don't see why this
- 15:44Speaker 1: is like such a shock.
- 15:46Speaker 9: Okay, But the guy in Seattle, Mike McDonald, like what
- 15:49Speaker 9: was his experience?
- 15:52Speaker 6: Suddenly we just hired the only first time coach in the.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Such a Again, again, you're you're not factoring in who
- 16:01Speaker 1: we're moving on from him.
- 16:02Speaker 6: I don't really understand why that matters and what.
- 16:04Speaker 1: The situation was. Well, you don't understand, but I'm trying
- 16:07Speaker 1: to explain it to you. This is a unique situation
- 16:11Speaker 1: that a lot of teams don't have to go through
- 16:13Speaker 1: when they make the decision to move on from their coach.
- 16:16Speaker 1: This is different. This is a guy who's been here
- 16:19Speaker 1: for over twenty years, best of all time. It's not okay,
- 16:24Speaker 1: new coach time.
- 16:25Speaker 6: I don't really understand.
- 16:27Speaker 1: And you're you're moving on with a guy who's never
- 16:29Speaker 1: done it before.
- 16:30Speaker 6: And Seattle from Pete Carroll with a guy who's never done.
- 16:33Speaker 1: It, And so there's gonna be learning. There's gonna be
- 16:35Speaker 1: learning pains, there's gonna be uh you know, a learning
- 16:41Speaker 1: a huge learning curve. There's gonna be mistakes made. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: what the best he can do is hire good people
- 16:49Speaker 1: who he can lean on that can help him, you know,
- 16:52Speaker 1: with this transition.
- 16:53Speaker 9: I just look at it. I'm gonna go to Seattle
- 16:55Speaker 9: and I'm gonna tell you Mike McDonald's thirty six years old.
- 16:58Speaker 9: He's the youngest head coach in the NFL. Ryan Grubb
- 17:01Speaker 9: is his offensive coordinator who he just stole from Alabama
- 17:04Speaker 9: and Kaylen de Boor, who he was with in Washington
- 17:07Speaker 9: before that. So him, Kaylen de Boor, and Ryan Grubb
- 17:10Speaker 9: are like this, They've they've gone everywhere together and somehow,
- 17:14Speaker 9: Okay McDonald, who's.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That person for Gerard that he's done everything with together?
- 17:18Speaker 9: No, he just left that guy. He just left him
- 17:21Speaker 9: for Mike McDonald.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Say what you're saying.
- 17:23Speaker 9: And so somehow along the way Mike McDonald and Ryan
- 17:27Speaker 9: Grubb linked up somewhere and they had a plan that
- 17:30Speaker 9: if McDonald got a job, because Grub was supposed to
- 17:34Speaker 9: go to Alabama.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I know, but let's look at McDonald's path, and I'll
- 17:37Speaker 1: bet you that he's had more touch points with more
- 17:39Speaker 1: people than Gerrod Mayo. Rod Mayo started here and doesn't
- 17:43Speaker 1: have any experience anywhere else college, other teams. This is
- 17:47Speaker 1: all he knows.
- 17:49Speaker 9: But what's the point.
- 17:50Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. Why that's the fact, that's for real?
- 17:53Speaker 6: Why is it a fact? Is what I'm asking you.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Because he was hired here out of empower and never
- 17:59Speaker 1: had any other coach spirits. That's why been here for
- 18:02Speaker 1: eight years, five years, and this is the only place
- 18:08Speaker 1: he's been. Okay, that's reality, folks.
- 18:13Speaker 6: I don't understand. I just don't understand what the caliber
- 18:15Speaker 6: of the guy he's succeeding has to do with anything
- 18:19Speaker 6: now in terms of evaluating his performance. Absolutely that matters.
- 18:22Speaker 6: You're walking in you're like, you never want to be
- 18:24Speaker 6: the guy to replace the guy, the old cliche. I
- 18:27Speaker 6: get that he's going to get more latitude because you've
- 18:30Speaker 6: got to say, listen, he's replacing Bill Belichick.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Let's I think it couldn't make it tough.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Let's let's let's let's not expect him to go and
- 18:37Speaker 6: win six Super Bowls.
- 18:38Speaker 1: You you don't think the Bill people are waiting for
- 18:42Speaker 1: him to fail.
- 18:44Speaker 6: I have no idea what. I don't even know what
- 18:45Speaker 6: we're talking about anymore.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'll show you.
- 18:47Speaker 6: I think we we were trying to figure out, like
- 18:50Speaker 6: why it's not going to be easy on him. I
- 18:52Speaker 6: think Evan's point was just why does it seem like
- 18:54Speaker 6: there's been so much indecision as to what direction they
- 18:58Speaker 6: want to try to go from a football perspective, and
- 19:02Speaker 6: it's devolved into well, he doesn't have any experience. I
- 19:05Speaker 6: don't really understand how those two are related. The guy
- 19:08Speaker 6: has thought about being a head coach, now, whether he
- 19:11Speaker 6: thought it was going to be next year or this year.
- 19:13Speaker 6: He's thought about how he wants to coach. Why is
- 19:16Speaker 6: he not? I think to Evans's point, and again, I
- 19:19Speaker 6: think Evan's a little bit more you know, dramatic dramatic
- 19:22Speaker 6: about it than most of us. But I think Evan's
- 19:25Speaker 6: wondering why he doesn't seem to have a vision.
- 19:28Speaker 1: He's told us, he's told us how he wants to
- 19:30Speaker 1: coach in the culture, and what he hasn't told us
- 19:34Speaker 1: that everyone is what kind of football? What's their philosophy,
- 19:37Speaker 1: what's the type of team they're going to be. He's
- 19:40Speaker 1: gonna get that's a work in progress, that part of it.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And it's based on the coach.
- 19:45Speaker 4: They shouldn't be a work in progress.
- 19:46Speaker 1: It's based on the coaches that he's hired. It's going
- 19:48Speaker 1: to be based on the quarterback if they draft a quarterback.
- 19:51Speaker 1: There's a lot of unknowns.
- 19:53Speaker 6: Implementing whatever he wants to do should be a working progress,
- 19:58Speaker 6: not what he wants to do. You know, can he
- 20:00Speaker 6: succeed in doing it? This is where I get to
- 20:02Speaker 6: the Bill Belichick is relevant part. But she should have
- 20:06Speaker 6: an idea of what I mean.
- 20:08Speaker 7: But just because he's not sharing it, with us, and
- 20:10Speaker 7: you know that he has exactly which is what I said,
- 20:12Speaker 7: That's what I said at the plot. But I mean,
- 20:14Speaker 7: I think it's just a valid point of what what's
- 20:15Speaker 7: sold John Alex van Pelt like, what what made him
- 20:18Speaker 7: the guy? Was it that you couldn't get anybody else?
- 20:20Speaker 4: Like? You know, was he the last man standing?
- 20:23Speaker 10: I think I think the biggest thing and why people
- 20:26Speaker 10: are kind of impatient right now is because, I mean,
- 20:28Speaker 10: you don't know what you don't know. And then maybe
- 20:30Speaker 10: you thought it was going to be easy, You're going
- 20:32Speaker 10: to make all these hires, but maybe it was less
- 20:34Speaker 10: of a desirable job than we initially thought. And I
- 20:38Speaker 10: think assembling the coaching staff was probably harder than they.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Thought that could be. I agree, that's not jern my
- 20:45Speaker 1: host fault though, no, of course not.
- 20:47Speaker 9: These are the types of things that concern me more
- 20:49Speaker 9: than the fact that he that I think he sounds
- 20:51Speaker 9: very corporate when he speaks like that type of stuff
- 20:54Speaker 9: is not here nor there, Like that doesn't necessarily decide
- 20:57Speaker 9: whether or not he's going to be a good football
- 20:59Speaker 9: coach or not. I think the problem that I see
- 21:02Speaker 9: is that a lot of these other you know, when
- 21:04Speaker 9: you go into these interviews for head coaching job. They
- 21:07Speaker 9: one of the bigger questions that they ask is who
- 21:09Speaker 9: are going to be your coordinators? And you're supposed to
- 21:12Speaker 9: have like a short list of like these are the
- 21:14Speaker 9: two or three guys, either because you coached against them,
- 21:18Speaker 9: you coach with them, you know, whatever the case may be.
- 21:21Speaker 9: A lot of the time, it's well, we played this
- 21:23Speaker 9: team the last couple of years and they killed us offensively,
- 21:26Speaker 9: Like this guy really knows what he's doing, and so
- 21:29Speaker 9: they'll go out and get that guy. I just that
- 21:31Speaker 9: piece of it worries me a lot.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Well, listen, I'll say something that might even worry you more.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Oh good, No, what if you're supposed to help.
- 21:39Speaker 1: What if Mayo had a couple guys in mind, couldn't
- 21:43Speaker 1: get him? And then Elliott Wolfe says, let me take
- 21:46Speaker 1: care of it.
- 21:46Speaker 9: That that's kind of what Alex was saying about the
- 21:50Speaker 9: desirability of the job. That's what started this whole spire
- 21:53Speaker 9: over me. Yeah, is because I think that Zach Robinson
- 21:56Speaker 9: was their guy. I think they really wanted Zach Robinson.
- 21:59Speaker 9: I think they made a strong push to get Zach Robinson.
- 22:01Speaker 6: And I think Nick Kayley was planned B.
- 22:03Speaker 9: It was Plan B and they gotten either.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:06Speaker 9: And I think that Zach Robinson was attached to Raheem
- 22:09Speaker 9: Morris probably when he started to get win that Atlanta
- 22:13Speaker 9: was really serious about Raheem Morris. He said, let me
- 22:15Speaker 9: take a step back and see what.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Were he I'm glad they didn't get Nick Kayley. Nothing
- 22:19Speaker 1: against him, but I want some experience. And I like
- 22:22Speaker 1: the idea of bringing in Ben mcado to have even
- 22:24Speaker 1: more experience as an advisor, you know. I we need
- 22:29Speaker 1: people who have done it before.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Because I liked the idea of the position that they
- 22:35Speaker 6: created for Macadoo. I just don't like that it's Macadoo like.
- 22:39Speaker 6: I would have been much much happier if it were
- 22:41Speaker 6: like sometimes in Rainbow, Frank Reich or someone who had
- 22:45Speaker 6: a monoicum of success as a head coach, didn't like
- 22:50Speaker 6: spectacularly fail as a hiten.
- 22:52Speaker 11: No.
- 22:52Speaker 1: I know, but we're not asking Ben mackado to be the.
- 22:54Speaker 6: Hill, but I'm talking about in that role, like someone
- 22:56Speaker 6: to lean on whatever. I didn't want Josh McDaniels back. Yeah,
- 23:00Speaker 6: and I love Josh yeah all that, yep, but failed twice.
- 23:04Speaker 6: I didn't I didn't want him back.
- 23:07Speaker 9: Yeah, so there you go. Yeah, this is just point
- 23:11Speaker 9: number one. You know, I'll save started.
- 23:15Speaker 4: I know it's February fifteenth, so I like again I did.
- 23:19Speaker 1: This has nothing to do with Sam in North Carolina
- 23:23Speaker 1: says I've been feeling the same way as Evan, and
- 23:25Speaker 1: I was a big male guy coming in. Mayo has
- 23:27Speaker 1: done nothing to make me feel better since day one.
- 23:30Speaker 1: He felt like a corporate guy. I felt like he
- 23:32Speaker 1: was my boss talking to me about how things will
- 23:34Speaker 1: be different than the last boss. But everyone just wants
- 23:37Speaker 1: better football. Cut the corporate bs and give us a
- 23:40Speaker 1: football coach. So that's and then he's he's, uh, he
- 23:46Speaker 1: doesn't like Drake may doesn't from North Carolina, doesn't have
- 23:50Speaker 1: the clutch fact is he from North Caro? North Carolina?
- 23:52Speaker 9: Shock?
- 23:55Speaker 1: I mean it just doesn't that bother you that everyone
- 23:57Speaker 1: from North Carolina doesn't.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Like not even know, because I have a million other
- 24:01Speaker 6: people that have told me how great he is.
- 24:03Speaker 4: So from North Carolina?
- 24:04Speaker 6: Yes, yes, my buddy Dan my Northeastern and he's a
- 24:09Speaker 6: huge Patriots guy.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Uh fream says Evans having a great hair day, Alex,
- 24:14Speaker 1: Not sorry, Alex, You're not having a great hair day.
- 24:19Speaker 4: The donut the donut. Wow, the donut coming in hot?
- 24:22Speaker 9: All right, I got a haircut yesterday.
- 24:25Speaker 8: Well, I worked out this morning.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I might have to go there.
- 24:29Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm going to tell him who you are.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't. I don't like to give you the shame.
- 24:35Speaker 9: You don't have to like, you don't have to come
- 24:36Speaker 9: out and be like I'm Fred kursh like you just
- 24:38Speaker 9: kind of weave it into the confer little sniff.
- 24:41Speaker 6: So what does that mean? You end up getting for
- 24:43Speaker 6: the bagel?
- 24:44Speaker 1: Do I get a discount?
- 24:47Speaker 4: Where's this place?
- 24:48Speaker 6: It's right next to even if you have no hair
- 24:51Speaker 6: like me, because I need a little track, I'm getting that.
- 24:54Speaker 4: You'll be You'll be like.
- 24:56Speaker 6: Will was uh. Will was like throwing out the flow
- 24:58Speaker 6: calling it let us the other day the Super Bowl,
- 25:00Speaker 6: and I was like, just go from the other side.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Play that's your kitchen, that's what they call it's actually
- 25:06Speaker 1: in my kitchen. I think it's pretty this is justin
- 25:11Speaker 1: and Orlando. I think it's pretty clear that Mayo is
- 25:13Speaker 1: being set up to fail. Can we give the guy
- 25:15Speaker 1: any time at all? Before saying he doesn't know how
- 25:17Speaker 1: he wants the team to play, what could he say
- 25:20Speaker 1: to alleviate it? Was concerns bite off kneecaps, do your job.
- 25:23Speaker 1: We're being ridiculous, And I care much more about the
- 25:26Speaker 1: lack of clarity in the front office than the lack
- 25:28Speaker 1: of a status the play from the head coach.
- 25:31Speaker 9: There's no lack of clarity in the front office. Elliott
- 25:33Speaker 9: Wolf is the facto general manager of the Patriots.
- 25:36Speaker 6: And there has been no football talk period. It's not
- 25:39Speaker 6: about like biting kneecaps. There's been nothing spoken in the
- 25:44Speaker 6: Times that we've heard from Mayo about football.
- 25:48Speaker 11: No.
- 25:50Speaker 6: I think that's Evan's point. Now, again, it doesn't bother
- 25:53Speaker 6: me as much as it obviously bothers Evan, But that's
- 25:56Speaker 6: that's kind of a fact. I'd never really heard a
- 25:59Speaker 6: guy that intered three press conference not talk about his
- 26:01Speaker 6: football philosophy.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And well, let me, I don't remember that. But at
- 26:08Speaker 1: his introductory press conference with the media, did anyone ask
- 26:11Speaker 1: that specific like what's your football philosophy? I don't remember.
- 26:14Speaker 9: I've been waiting for us to get him on the
- 26:16Speaker 9: show so I can.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Either No, I'm serious, So I hope we have him
- 26:21Speaker 1: sitting here and we can ask those questions. Why did
- 26:23Speaker 1: you like Alex van Pell, Why did you like DeMarcus covering.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Well, that's that's the thing, Fred.
- 26:27Speaker 7: I mean, I think we're really talking about just the
- 26:29Speaker 7: offense here. I mean, I think his defensive philosophy is
- 26:31Speaker 7: going to be the same kind of game plan.
- 26:33Speaker 4: You know, we're going to just every week. There's a
- 26:35Speaker 4: thing like, I mean, I assume, but.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Is it going to be aggressive? Because I can tell
- 26:39Speaker 6: you they had the same defense with different guys running
- 26:41Speaker 6: it that were wildly different.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Did Flora say we're going to be a lot more about.
- 26:46Speaker 6: But they weren't in a position to do so. And
- 26:48Speaker 6: Bill doesn't tell you anything, do you know what I mean?
- 26:51Speaker 6: I just think that's that's kind of what I'm talking about.
- 26:54Speaker 4: It doesn't only Behoove.
- 26:54Speaker 6: But I don't know what they're going to do defensively.
- 26:57Speaker 6: I just think it's.
- 26:58Speaker 9: Such a big thing is that we're getting getting sold.
- 27:00Speaker 9: And I understand it's early and we're way over, but
- 27:05Speaker 9: we're getting sold this like different, this different vibe right,
- 27:09Speaker 9: like this different culture around the building. It's like a
- 27:12Speaker 9: shell game and and I I feel like it's such
- 27:17Speaker 9: a stark contrast. Like Bill was all football, right, like
- 27:20Speaker 9: it's all football, it's all business, even if you feel
- 27:24Speaker 9: like he didn't give you anything. Like it was still
- 27:26Speaker 9: we weren't talking about about silos, people up and developing, people.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Who whoa hold on for a second, like two months ago.
- 27:36Speaker 1: We're talking about how Bill doesn't understand the modern athlete
- 27:39Speaker 1: and things need to change and you need guys that
- 27:42Speaker 1: understand and tell them why and all that and that's it.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And now he's says that's what he's gonna do and
- 27:47Speaker 1: you don't like it.
- 27:48Speaker 9: No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying, can we
- 27:50Speaker 9: have a little bit of both?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Okay?
- 27:52Speaker 9: Like can we have just a little bit of the
- 27:53Speaker 9: other thing.
- 27:54Speaker 6: I personally didn't like the fact that Bill continued to
- 27:57Speaker 6: want to try to win games in a way that
- 27:59Speaker 6: I don't think is doing.
- 28:01Speaker 1: And that's another And I don't know if.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Believe he agrees with that or not.
- 28:04Speaker 9: Yeah, Champions John, which frightens me.
- 28:09Speaker 1: John says, Evan's all pissed because the new coach hasn't
- 28:12Speaker 1: let Evan know the direction he wants to take the team.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I don't remember Bill giving his vision of the team
- 28:17Speaker 1: at some press conference. Aside from Dan de Deucee, Campbell
- 28:19Speaker 1: has done that. This is an honest question.
- 28:21Speaker 6: I can tell you you go back to Bill's introductory
- 28:24Speaker 6: press comments. He talked about tough football players and being
- 28:28Speaker 6: physical on both sides.
- 28:29Speaker 1: He did they don't have a complete staff. They should
- 28:33Speaker 1: be focused on staff and players now. Then they can
- 28:36Speaker 1: make sure Evan approves later if they have a plan.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Why the hell would they tell us.
- 28:41Speaker 9: This is a show where we give our opinions, right,
- 28:43Speaker 9: I like they can give their opinion.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Correct, That's what I'm just the tone of this, like
- 28:49Speaker 1: just because they don't agree with you, Evan, you have
- 28:51Speaker 1: to agree with me, But like I just leave John, John,
- 28:56Speaker 1: good job, John. They are doing something. They are doing
- 28:59Speaker 1: something I haven't done in over twenty years. Give them
- 29:02Speaker 1: a chance. Not only is this new to the coach,
- 29:05Speaker 1: it's new to every inch of the organization.
- 29:07Speaker 9: I am giving it a good point I have. I
- 29:09Speaker 9: am giving it a chance. I have concerns. Is that
- 29:11Speaker 9: not allowed?
- 29:12Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 29:13Speaker 9: Okay, email her.
- 29:14Speaker 5: Well can.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Account to you.
- 29:17Speaker 6: Is that I feel free to call back in John,
- 29:20Speaker 6: good job.
- 29:21Speaker 4: I'll keep them coming.
- 29:23Speaker 1: James Pettig, grew the most interesting Patriots fan of all times, says,
- 29:27Speaker 1: I agree with Evan, this has to be the worst
- 29:29Speaker 1: off season of coach Mayo's career.
- 29:32Speaker 9: See that was funny.
- 29:34Speaker 6: If you knew jeans, it's even funnier.
- 29:37Speaker 9: Kevin says, I really, I didn't want to go here
- 29:39Speaker 9: on it, so sorry you didn't want to go I
- 29:41Speaker 9: led with it.
- 29:42Speaker 4: I know, I know. I saw him like I saw
- 29:44Speaker 4: the steam still coming out of it. I thought two
- 29:45Speaker 4: hours of Catch twenty two we would we.
- 29:47Speaker 8: Would have worked for Yeah, but they went down to
- 29:49Speaker 8: the wires.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Kevin and Virginia says, I agree with Fred, it is
- 29:52Speaker 1: what it is. The process of moving on from Bill
- 29:54Speaker 1: has been sloppy. But why could it be that the
- 29:57Speaker 1: Crafts had to move on from Belichick because Bill tanked
- 30:00Speaker 1: team so badly on the offensive side of the ball
- 30:02Speaker 1: that they felt they had to move on to Mayol
- 30:04Speaker 1: before they really wanted to. Fredd is right. All we
- 30:06Speaker 1: can do now is see how it plays out and
- 30:08Speaker 1: judge the results good or bad after they happen.
- 30:11Speaker 4: That that is true.
- 30:13Speaker 9: All we can do is but but but for this
- 30:15Speaker 9: portion of the off season, this is where we complain.
- 30:16Speaker 6: We can complain now, absolutely, that's a theory from my
- 30:20Speaker 6: shows that I don't necessarily agree with. What's that the
- 30:23Speaker 6: whole waving on faster than they had that than they
- 30:25Speaker 6: thought not. You know, Felder is a big proponent of
- 30:28Speaker 6: this is a year. I'm not sure of that. Yeah,
- 30:31Speaker 6: I'm not sure of that.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Let's see. Louis says, uh, long time listener, first time emailing.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I'm listening to the show today, and I'm confused about
- 30:40Speaker 1: how the show started. Did something change? Why are we
- 30:43Speaker 1: talking about what Mayo said two months ago? Seems the
- 30:46Speaker 1: Patriots have a plan or a style of offense they
- 30:48Speaker 1: want to play. They are hiring coaches that fit that
- 30:50Speaker 1: mold or no, we don't see. We don't know that.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I will say, we don't know that. What else would
- 30:55Speaker 1: we you want him to do at this point? And also,
- 30:59Speaker 1: is it's not fair to compare his situations because we
- 31:01Speaker 1: all know the Patriot's roster is terrible. So getting a
- 31:05Speaker 1: big time off I don't know what that means, big
- 31:08Speaker 1: time offensive coordinator to come here is much harder than
- 31:11Speaker 1: in Washington or Seattle.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Yeah, because Washington, Washington's loaded.
- 31:17Speaker 9: Well, they just they're loaded.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I mean they got the first overall pick.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And Jared and Vermont says, according to Dwight Eisenhower, plans
- 31:24Speaker 1: are useless, but planning is essential.
- 31:27Speaker 4: But everybody has a plan until you get punched in
- 31:30Speaker 4: the mouth.
- 31:32Speaker 6: M Tyson.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Good start to the show. Eight five five past five
- 31:35Speaker 1: hundred is the eight Stiken Hotline web radio at pictures
- 31:37Speaker 1: dot com.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Welcome back, Alex, welcome back. What's going on in the studio?
- 31:43Speaker 4: You know it's so funny.
- 31:44Speaker 8: I was literally texting my hair dresser.
- 31:48Speaker 10: I was texting my hairdresser before this too, like, hey,
- 31:50Speaker 10: any availability for Saturday.
- 31:51Speaker 8: Desperately need to come see you guys. Didn't think anyone
- 31:54Speaker 8: else had noticed, but I didn't.
- 31:55Speaker 1: People, but you notice she put her hair back.
- 31:59Speaker 8: Yeah, I did because I'm self conscious so.
- 32:04Speaker 1: My hair.
- 32:07Speaker 8: I haven't washed my hair today. I worked out this morning.
- 32:11Speaker 8: I'm so sorry. I apologize. I'll be better. I'm gonna
- 32:17Speaker 8: go to Janigo Salon this weekend and we'll be good
- 32:20Speaker 8: to go.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Okay, did you like the Super Bowl? Did you watch?
- 32:23Speaker 8: I did watch. I was happy to see it was
- 32:26Speaker 8: actually like a competitive game down to the end, entertaining.
- 32:32Speaker 8: I was glad I had my prediction correctly.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Oh you did? Yeah?
- 32:37Speaker 8: Yeah, halftime was pretty solid.
- 32:41Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean pretty solid.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Yeah it was.
- 32:43Speaker 8: It was good, not great? Said where you guys talked
- 32:46Speaker 8: about it?
- 32:46Speaker 10: It started slow yes, yes, but I think if he
- 32:49Speaker 10: started with the slow jams, but not only that, but
- 32:52Speaker 10: he it was like a two second snippet of the
- 32:55Speaker 10: slow jams, So it just took a while for the
- 32:57Speaker 10: energy to ramp up.
- 32:58Speaker 8: But then he brought out like ludacrous.
- 32:59Speaker 1: They brought the roller skates.
- 33:00Speaker 13: Chris Little John and Alicia Keys came out and okay, yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 13: oh I wait. I saw TikTok about the girl that
- 33:08Speaker 13: fell and apparently, like you just when you signed up
- 33:12Speaker 13: to do acting jobs, you just like say your way
- 33:15Speaker 13: over qualified.
- 33:15Speaker 6: And that's the kind of mister Hollywood explained the whole.
- 33:20Speaker 8: On the same side of TikTok.
- 33:21Speaker 1: So you're up on the Is it true that Tayla
- 33:25Speaker 1: Swift had Kanye West kicked out?
- 33:27Speaker 8: I think Kanye himself said that was not true yesterday.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I know, I believe everything he said. I know, well,
- 33:35Speaker 1: but why would he say that if it was because
- 33:38Speaker 1: he's Kanye West. I think he wasn't in a suite though,
- 33:41Speaker 1: but he makes fun of her all the time. Yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 1: I think it was.
- 33:46Speaker 8: I think it was a little bit of maybe like
- 33:48Speaker 8: a fabrication or hyper believe that.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:51Speaker 8: You know, the game of telephone. I think Brandon Marshall
- 33:54Speaker 8: probably jump the gun.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Off, Okay, I don't know, Okay, and the commercials any anything.
- 33:59Speaker 8: Stand guys talked about the Duncan one.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we talked about it.
- 34:02Speaker 8: I like because Beyonce fan. But other than that, I
- 34:06Speaker 8: don't know. I'm just a hater. Like the writing is
- 34:09Speaker 8: just bad.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it's just's leaning too much on star power.
- 34:12Speaker 8: Yeah, not a creative nothing really move the needle for me.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yea.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Nobody reflected though, those guys jumped right into it. That's
- 34:18Speaker 4: what version. That was a good review.
- 34:23Speaker 6: It was pretty good that like it was like four
- 34:25Speaker 6: four and a half minutes, Like there.
- 34:26Speaker 4: I love about it, Paul, we talked about sport. It's
- 34:28Speaker 4: that it's it's like an extraction of that great moment
- 34:30Speaker 4: from Boogie Nights where they're trying to record the record
- 34:33Speaker 4: and they're all coked out the magic that is on
- 34:35Speaker 4: that record, you know, just the guys who are so
- 34:37Speaker 4: in their own headspace about what their their music and
- 34:39Speaker 4: their art. Like I just I think you were going
- 34:40Speaker 4: to go with the diving competition.
- 34:42Speaker 6: Oh let me show you what you did it wrong?
- 34:45Speaker 7: One of my that's one of my favorite scenes though,
- 34:47Speaker 7: is when they're all trying to convince to get their
- 34:50Speaker 7: masters back.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Boogie knights all right.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Eight five five eight five five pasts five hundred is
- 34:57Speaker 1: the ag sticking outline web radio at pages dot com.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And he knew hiring.
- 35:01Speaker 4: We never talked about don't hide exactly coming back, which
- 35:06Speaker 4: I thought was we didn't talk about that. We to
- 35:07Speaker 4: talk about it. Yeah, but I like the guy too.
- 35:11Speaker 4: They brought over from the Ravens. That's Drew Wilkins. That's
- 35:14Speaker 4: kind of an interesting one is their outside linebackers guy.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I mean, you know, didn't they bring a running backs
- 35:18Speaker 1: coach in there for the Jets?
- 35:19Speaker 4: Yes?
- 35:20Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, he was pretty like a surprise firing party
- 35:24Speaker 9: in the ways with the Jets. Obviously, Breecee Hall has
- 35:27Speaker 9: been great for them, and uh, they they went in
- 35:29Speaker 9: a different directions. Been in that Shanahan offense.
- 35:32Speaker 4: He's a good like flat form dark beard Tyler Embry. Yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 4: he's got a good look.
- 35:38Speaker 1: So are we just waiting on wide receiver tight ends?
- 35:42Speaker 9: I mean, they did hire Taekwon Underwood, but it was
- 35:44Speaker 9: reported as an assistant wide receiver coach, right, so they
- 35:47Speaker 9: have an assistant wide receiver coach, but they don't have
- 35:49Speaker 9: a wide receiver coach.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I'll bet you no. I'm not saying they're going to
- 35:54Speaker 1: run it back, but I'll bet you for craft if
- 35:57Speaker 1: the if Rod wants to move on from Troy, it's
- 36:01Speaker 1: a tough one.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Well it says that, that says there's a role for him,
- 36:03Speaker 4: but they don't necessarily know that. It seems like the
- 36:06Speaker 4: move to me is is you know, he gets scrambled
- 36:08Speaker 4: over to.
- 36:12Speaker 7: Coach slash Yeah, returns okay, But you gotta think he
- 36:18Speaker 7: you know, Alex Pelts canna want somebody that can teach
- 36:20Speaker 7: his offense the way he wants and is Troy Brown
- 36:23Speaker 7: going to be that guy?
- 36:23Speaker 4: I that's it seems like a little bit of a stretch. Yeah,
- 36:25Speaker 4: but how do he convince High Tower?
- 36:27Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 36:27Speaker 4: I just High Tower seemed like a guy, remember like
- 36:29Speaker 4: he did, like did he retire? We didn't even know.
- 36:31Speaker 4: He just kind of stopped like showing up, like you know,
- 36:33Speaker 4: there was no like real announcement.
- 36:34Speaker 8: I think until it was last year at the same
- 36:37Speaker 8: time as Devin.
- 36:38Speaker 7: And I thought he was done and then you know
- 36:39Speaker 7: it just it seems like he was enjoying living life,
- 36:41Speaker 7: getting out of football, you know, and of course the
- 36:44Speaker 7: famous thing Girod said last year like, oh, when I
- 36:45Speaker 7: get my own ship, I'm gonna try.
- 36:47Speaker 4: To bring him in.
- 36:47Speaker 13: Uh.
- 36:48Speaker 7: But I guess somebody told me that high Tower's wife,
- 36:50Speaker 7: I get he gave him like the blessing, which is
- 36:52Speaker 7: always the big thing.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Of that was you know, it was you, So you know,
- 36:56Speaker 4: just to go from hanging out with your wife and
- 36:58Speaker 4: you know, just post NFL.
- 36:59Speaker 8: Conchs a healthy and I felt vacation.
- 37:05Speaker 9: I got the vibe that the wife was kind of like,
- 37:08Speaker 9: what are you gonna do?
- 37:09Speaker 4: You're annoying.
- 37:12Speaker 1: But if you're gonna do, like, there's gonna be a
- 37:15Speaker 1: lot of hours put in here.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Like you know, your typical job might be like five o'clock,
- 37:19Speaker 4: everybody out quit in time.
- 37:21Speaker 1: That's how we rolled.
- 37:22Speaker 6: That's what I'm fully anticipating. Culture well, he said maybe six.
- 37:28Speaker 6: I did think it was funny with a lot of
- 37:30Speaker 6: these guys are young, sort of up and coming people
- 37:34Speaker 6: that not many of us were very familiar with, and
- 37:36Speaker 6: it was like, you know, they can't get anybody to come.
- 37:39Speaker 6: Like Alex said, you know, maybe these jobs aren't as attractive.
- 37:41Speaker 6: And then like Dante high Tower, who's never coached a
- 37:44Speaker 6: day in his life, signs on and it's like, whoo,
- 37:47Speaker 6: you know we got and believe me, I love Dante
- 37:51Speaker 6: High Tower. But like, I'm not necessarily dismissing all these
- 37:54Speaker 6: other guys because they don't have any experience, you know,
- 37:57Speaker 6: take them on a case by case basis and see
- 37:59Speaker 6: who seems like they know what they're doing. But didn't
- 38:01Speaker 6: you find that interesting like they did? The people, all,
- 38:04Speaker 6: all the reporters all were like going.
- 38:06Speaker 4: Gaga, Yeah, analytical coach.
- 38:11Speaker 1: You know, it's great, you know you have that connection
- 38:13Speaker 1: to the past.
- 38:14Speaker 4: But he's never done it, and you know, he's got
- 38:18Speaker 4: a veteran group.
- 38:18Speaker 6: I mean, I'm just going by the way everybody always
- 38:21Speaker 6: they always talked about him, and that the way that
- 38:24Speaker 6: people talked about Mayo. Mayo, Yeah, like he was like
- 38:26Speaker 6: a coach on the field, and Bubble definitely using that
- 38:30Speaker 6: as you know the reason why I think.
- 38:32Speaker 9: I think by Mayo coming out and saying, if I
- 38:34Speaker 9: ever run my own ship, I'm going to get High
- 38:36Speaker 9: Tower to coach linebackers last year, I mean, that's a
- 38:39Speaker 9: pretty big stamp of approval to be like, this guy
- 38:41Speaker 9: is a good board at.
- 38:43Speaker 4: The time, he's completely out of the game too.
- 38:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I think High Tower was I talked to him
- 38:47Speaker 9: for that piece that I did with all the linebackers
- 38:49Speaker 9: about Mayo, and I asked him at the end and
- 38:51Speaker 9: he said it was pretty clear that he could be swayed.
- 38:54Speaker 9: Like if you if Mayo made a really good recruiting pitch.
- 38:57Speaker 9: I was like this, this could actually have.
- 39:00Speaker 4: You're gonna come in, You're gonna coach guys. You'll be here,
- 39:03Speaker 4: you'll be working like it's.
- 39:05Speaker 9: It's Juwan Bentley, it's probably Java, like it's guys Acmillan,
- 39:10Speaker 9: Like how much coaching does Juwan Bentley really need in
- 39:12Speaker 9: the system at this point? You know it's gonna be Oh,
- 39:15Speaker 9: I saw this little thing. I saw that little thing.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Right, and he's just insideline backers.
- 39:20Speaker 4: That's like the Wilkins and the Ravens will be the
- 39:22Speaker 4: outside linebackers.
- 39:23Speaker 9: So yeah, I like the defensive staff. There you go,
- 39:26Speaker 9: it's something possible.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:28Speaker 7: I think Scott Peters has some challenging coach fight Club
- 39:31Speaker 7: now with High Tower, though I'd probably go High Town.
- 39:33Speaker 9: I like the Scott Peters higher too, Like I watched
- 39:35Speaker 9: some of his clinics and things like that, and that's
- 39:38Speaker 9: like that's what you want your offensive line coach to
- 39:40Speaker 9: look like and sound like just somebody's just gonna tear
- 39:43Speaker 9: somebody's head off.
- 39:44Speaker 6: Like yes, building building breaking down side.
- 39:49Speaker 9: Like he was doing this thing where he was like
- 39:51Speaker 9: showing guys like technique and like it was like a
- 39:54Speaker 9: beam in his backyard and he like put like a
- 39:57Speaker 9: pad up there.
- 39:57Speaker 1: It was just like it.
- 39:59Speaker 4: And I was It's like Pat is getting task.
- 40:01Speaker 9: This is guy, this is what I want.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Now he's he's he's one of the He's definitely one
- 40:06Speaker 4: of the positives.
- 40:06Speaker 7: I mean, it's and I like, I mean, all the
- 40:09Speaker 7: concerns we talked about at the top, but I do
- 40:10Speaker 7: think there are some you know, things to look at
- 40:12Speaker 7: that are you know interesting. Just how's it all gonna
- 40:14Speaker 7: come together? I think we're all I mean, I'm really
- 40:17Speaker 7: waiting for those wide receivers coach, those tight ends. I
- 40:18Speaker 7: mean I think those are important. I mean, those are
- 40:20Speaker 7: tight ends. You got no tight end, so this guy's
- 40:22Speaker 7: gonna probably have I mean maybe, I mean I'm all
- 40:24Speaker 7: for bringing back Henry, but kind of a bank blank
- 40:26Speaker 7: slate at that position.
- 40:28Speaker 6: Uh.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Nolan and California says, I guess with Van Pelt's plan,
- 40:31Speaker 1: to run the ball. We're gonna need five running backs.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I hope we get quarterback with the third pick and
- 40:36Speaker 1: a good round two receiver with high tower coming back.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Do you guys see any more formal players come back.
- 40:41Speaker 1: I'd love to see Randy Moss come back. That's not happening,
- 40:45Speaker 1: just hav An alumni.
- 40:46Speaker 9: Uh, you know, I don't think you know that. Normally
- 40:49Speaker 9: I'm on Paul's side of the street with the whole
- 40:50Speaker 9: running the ball wins championships thing. But if you're you're
- 40:54Speaker 9: running the ball for the right reasons, then all the
- 40:57Speaker 9: good teams run the ball, like you know, San Francisco, Detroit, Baltimore,
- 41:01Speaker 9: like those teams all run the ball well. But it's
- 41:04Speaker 9: not running the ball to like run the clock and
- 41:08Speaker 9: ball control and possession. It's running the ball to set
- 41:10Speaker 9: up explosive plays in the passing game.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:13Speaker 9: So if that, if that's what you mean by this
- 41:16Speaker 9: is our foundation, We're gonna run the ball, We're gonna
- 41:18Speaker 9: play action, we're gonna hunt big plays. Then that's one thing.
- 41:20Speaker 9: If you're telling me you're gonna run the ball so
- 41:22Speaker 9: you can win seventeen to fourteen, then I'm with Paul.
- 41:24Speaker 7: Well, I mean, I mean, would have kind of assuaged
- 41:26Speaker 7: some of your concerns if they just said, look, we
- 41:28Speaker 7: want to throw the score and we want to run
- 41:30Speaker 7: to win. We want to throw early and off and
- 41:32Speaker 7: we want to get points, and then we want to
- 41:34Speaker 7: have some tough running backs.
- 41:35Speaker 4: That'll be able to close things out. I mean, I
- 41:38Speaker 4: did it, But that's a cliche.
- 41:41Speaker 6: Sometimes the cliches are what you need.
- 41:43Speaker 4: You know, that's just to make calm the nerves. That
- 41:45Speaker 4: was so what They just handed you the playbook and
- 41:48Speaker 4: they're like.
- 41:49Speaker 6: But as much as I hate running the ball, I've
- 41:51Speaker 6: never said you can't run the ball like I don't
- 41:55Speaker 6: you need to run the ball twenty times a game,
- 41:57Speaker 6: you know, ish, you know, fifteen to twenty two times
- 42:00Speaker 6: the game. I mean, even the good team, like I
- 42:02Speaker 6: would not say Kansas City is a running team. Somehow
- 42:05Speaker 6: they found a way to win three titles in the
- 42:07Speaker 6: last five years. I mean, you don't have to quote
- 42:10Speaker 6: run the ball, but that's not like an all or
- 42:14Speaker 6: nothing thing. You have to run it sometimes.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yeah, you gotta be a little balanced, Yeah, be able to.
- 42:17Speaker 6: Got to you gotta be good inside the five. You
- 42:20Speaker 6: gotta be good in short yardage and you gotta be
- 42:22Speaker 6: good in the formnute offense. Yeah, as you said, to
- 42:24Speaker 6: throw the ball to score and run the ball to win.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Although I do think that most teams believe that it's
- 42:32Speaker 1: hard to just flip that switch and then all of
- 42:35Speaker 1: a sudden, we're we're gonna run, like you have to
- 42:37Speaker 1: kind of establish it, especially.
- 42:39Speaker 6: For those are the teams that I'm not interested, especially
- 42:42Speaker 6: when they want to establish, especially when you talk to
- 42:44Speaker 6: offensive linemen.
- 42:45Speaker 9: It's just it's just you need to There's nothing wrong
- 42:48Speaker 9: with running the ball. It just has to be for
- 42:50Speaker 9: the right reasons. Like we were talking arguing about this
- 42:51Speaker 9: on Cash twenty two, Barth brought up, well, it gets
- 42:54Speaker 9: cold in the winter time in New England, so we
- 42:56Speaker 9: got to no, Like, I have no time for that.
- 42:58Speaker 6: That's why I like Drake May. I think he'll hold
- 42:59Speaker 6: up in the winter time. Yeah, yeah, I mean size
- 43:03Speaker 6: and his arm strength.
- 43:04Speaker 7: Do you do you wonder though, I mean, if they
- 43:06Speaker 7: don't really know right now, like exactly what they're going
- 43:08Speaker 7: to do, because they don't really have a quarterback and
- 43:10Speaker 7: they don't really have a running back behind Romandra Stevens,
- 43:13Speaker 7: you know, Like I mean, I just I wonder how
- 43:15Speaker 7: much of the offensive philosophy is still fluid.
- 43:18Speaker 4: You know, I wonder how much of the.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Offense is going to be here when the season starts again.
- 43:22Speaker 4: Who is our offense?
- 43:25Speaker 6: I don't want to be label this because we talked
- 43:26Speaker 6: about it for you know, most of the show. It's
- 43:29Speaker 6: not about what they're actually going to do come September,
- 43:32Speaker 6: because that's going to change based on personnel. What do
- 43:35Speaker 6: they want to do?
- 43:36Speaker 1: Score points? How depending on who we have, if we
- 43:41Speaker 1: have no wide receiver, if man have if Marvin, if
- 43:45Speaker 1: Marvin Harrison's on our team, I want him to score point.
- 43:48Speaker 6: But I'm asking, if you had your druthers, if you
- 43:51Speaker 6: had the players that you want to score in the
- 43:54Speaker 6: manner that you want, how do you want to play?
- 43:57Speaker 1: I want to have, you know, a modern offense with
- 43:59Speaker 1: a quarter back who can extend plays if he has to,
- 44:03Speaker 1: but can read deep.
- 44:04Speaker 6: And they might not have the players to do that.
- 44:07Speaker 6: Totally understood, Like they don't even I mean they literally
- 44:11Speaker 6: don't have a quarterback. I mean that's not even being
- 44:15Speaker 6: you know, Andy Hardish, that's just they don't have a quarterback.
- 44:18Speaker 9: But these these three quarterbacks at the top of the draft,
- 44:22Speaker 9: and I get it, like I'm not asking them to
- 44:23Speaker 9: tip their hand to who they're who they like, and
- 44:25Speaker 9: who they want to say. But these three quarterbacks at
- 44:27Speaker 9: the top of the draft are all stylistically very different.
- 44:30Speaker 9: So if you have a vision of this is how
- 44:33Speaker 9: we want to play offense, then that fits one quarterback
- 44:36Speaker 9: more than it fits the other.
- 44:37Speaker 1: So it doesn't it make sense for Alex van Pelt
- 44:39Speaker 1: to just talk about running right now and not talk
- 44:41Speaker 1: about the kind of offense that I'll tip their hand.
- 44:44Speaker 9: I loved what Alex van Pelt said. He's the first
- 44:46Speaker 9: person in two months that ex actually talked about football
- 44:48Speaker 9: in this organization. Perfect.
- 44:51Speaker 1: But to your point, you don't tip your hand on
- 44:53Speaker 1: the style of quarterback or offense that you want because
- 44:56Speaker 1: you know.
- 44:57Speaker 6: Right, But I would just so now you're mad at him.
- 45:00Speaker 6: Not he did tip his hand in the style of
- 45:02Speaker 6: offense he wants to run.
- 45:03Speaker 1: He talked about running. Yeah, he didn't focus on the
- 45:06Speaker 1: type of passing game.
- 45:07Speaker 6: He wants because he wants to run.
- 45:10Speaker 1: You're being difficult, No, no, no, I'm not.
- 45:12Speaker 6: I watched his offense for the last four years. Friend,
- 45:15Speaker 6: I know how he wants to play offense because that's
- 45:17Speaker 6: exactly how we said he wants to play it in
- 45:19Speaker 6: the one minute clip we put on Patriots dot Com exactly, which,
- 45:22Speaker 6: by the way, the Boston Globe claimed a video issued
- 45:25Speaker 6: by the team, like well it was that it's not
- 45:28Speaker 6: the way they said it was not. That really bugs me.
- 45:31Speaker 6: They steal the information all the time, claim it as
- 45:34Speaker 6: their own, and then they're so dismissive that paper deserves
- 45:37Speaker 6: everything they're getting with John Henry and the Red Sox
- 45:39Speaker 6: falling apart, couldn't wish enough bad things on that paper.
- 45:43Speaker 1: No, but I think that, like you know, we're feisty.
- 45:47Speaker 6: They just steal stuff, like you can't say Patriots dot com,
- 45:50Speaker 6: Like you can't say that video that appeared on Patriots
- 45:52Speaker 6: dot com, Like that's impossible for you.
- 45:55Speaker 9: It's it's also just funny when we like do like
- 45:58Speaker 9: obviously going back to like the podcast with Bill and
- 46:02Speaker 9: stuff like that, Like we do these things and people
- 46:05Speaker 9: make such a big deal out of it. Like we
- 46:07Speaker 9: posted a graphic with like players on it the other
- 46:10Speaker 9: day and people were tweeting which players were on the graphic,
- 46:14Speaker 9: like it meant something.
- 46:15Speaker 4: I know, I was hidden messages.
- 46:18Speaker 9: It doesn't mean anything.
- 46:19Speaker 6: The way it was explained in the Globe story was that,
- 46:23Speaker 6: and you're the only one that still reads it.
- 46:24Speaker 12: No, no, no, it was.
- 46:26Speaker 6: It was portrayed as they got the video from the Patriots,
- 46:31Speaker 6: like the Patriots gave it to them, said right about
- 46:34Speaker 6: it as opposed to Patriots dot Com had a video
- 46:37Speaker 6: with Alex van Pelt talking, We're going to have one
- 46:39Speaker 6: today with Covington, right.
- 46:42Speaker 4: I'm not sure, I think so.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 46:44Speaker 6: Secrets Springer too, Yeah, spoiler, you know, we talked to
- 46:51Speaker 6: all of them. We talked about it last.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I don't know if it's today, but we'll have all three.
- 46:54Speaker 6: Yes, I think Covington is today, and that is going
- 46:59Speaker 6: going on Patriots dot Yeah, it's not, and it's not
- 47:03Speaker 6: being sent by the Patriots media relations department to all
- 47:05Speaker 6: the various outlets you could go on. We're right, Like
- 47:10Speaker 6: I'm not telling you you need to give the Patriots,
- 47:13Speaker 6: you know, give us credit for like, well, great gat.
- 47:16Speaker 6: We know it's not a great GAT. We decided to
- 47:19Speaker 6: have the coordinators available and we talked to them. But
- 47:22Speaker 6: but I'll Paul, I'm not I'm not looking for my flowers,
- 47:25Speaker 6: I know.
- 47:25Speaker 1: But I'll bet you that the conversation that's going on
- 47:28Speaker 1: at the Harold and the Globe right now is you know,
- 47:31Speaker 1: they're making an exclusive. We should be able to talk
- 47:34Speaker 1: to him too, And that's what they're saying.
- 47:36Speaker 6: Yeah, even if they wanted to say they made him
- 47:37Speaker 6: available to their in house media, that's accurate. Having it,
- 47:42Speaker 6: you know, distributed through the team is not accurate. That's
- 47:44Speaker 6: not what happened, right like, And it's intentionally derogatory.
- 47:50Speaker 1: We're doing it for entertainment purposes.
- 47:52Speaker 6: We're not doing it for because I'm crazy doesn't mean
- 47:54Speaker 6: I'm always wrong.
- 47:55Speaker 1: We're not doing it for the media's benefit. We're doing
- 47:58Speaker 1: it for our fans benefit.
- 48:00Speaker 7: A lot of grousing today, speaking of flowers policy, what's
- 48:03Speaker 7: going on?
- 48:04Speaker 8: I don't know that.
- 48:04Speaker 4: I was that yesterday.
- 48:08Speaker 9: No, you didn't get bet flowers.
- 48:15Speaker 4: I got okay from the gas station on the way home.
- 48:21Speaker 1: There you go to it's you. We actually the intersection
- 48:25Speaker 1: that was selling.
- 48:27Speaker 6: We do not do Valentine's Day.
- 48:29Speaker 4: No, we don't really either.
- 48:30Speaker 6: The only reason why I did do Valentine's Day this
- 48:32Speaker 6: year is because of the unfortunate birthday incident of last August.
- 48:36Speaker 4: No, No, it's it's a season.
- 48:37Speaker 7: Evan's gotta tell his story about about his Valentine about
- 48:40Speaker 7: about well birthday present, birthday President.
- 48:42Speaker 4: Oh yeah, this is a good story. Oh yeah.
- 48:44Speaker 9: So a couple of weeks ago, Jess tells me that
- 48:47Speaker 9: she would love to have, uh, We're going to the
- 48:50Speaker 9: Bruins game on her birthday and she said that she
- 48:52Speaker 9: would love to have a birthday message on the jumbo truck.
- 48:56Speaker 4: So, being being the great maintenance at all, being.
- 48:59Speaker 9: The great, being the great guy that I am, I
- 49:03Speaker 9: call in a favor with the Bruins and get get
- 49:06Speaker 9: it up on it. They want no our ticket wrap
- 49:11Speaker 9: actually helped me out and I got a birthday message
- 49:15Speaker 9: up on the jumbo tron. She texts me on Tuesday
- 49:18Speaker 9: on her birthday as I'm driving into work and she goes,
- 49:21Speaker 9: you didn't actually get my name up on the jumbo
- 49:24Speaker 9: tron tonight, did you?
- 49:25Speaker 12: And I was like, what do you mean?
- 49:26Speaker 9: She was like, I'm gonna be embarrassed. I don't actually
- 49:29Speaker 9: want you to do that.
- 49:30Speaker 6: And I was like, oh my god, you told me
- 49:32Speaker 6: you wanted me to do it, even hire me too late.
- 49:37Speaker 4: So then it'd be nice.
- 49:38Speaker 9: But no, no, no, no, no no no, So just
- 49:40Speaker 9: to put a bow on it. We we get the
- 49:42Speaker 9: message was it was the ship had already sailed, so
- 49:44Speaker 9: the message was already up there. It doesn't say who
- 49:47Speaker 9: it was from. It just says regards happy birthday.
- 49:52Speaker 6: Jess ruins, nothing at help front is from Marshy.
- 49:58Speaker 4: So so she was like, is is that for me? Maybe?
- 50:04Speaker 6: Do you want it to be?
- 50:05Speaker 13: Well?
- 50:06Speaker 8: Was it something where you had to write the custom message?
- 50:08Speaker 9: And I can show you what did email?
- 50:10Speaker 4: I literally, yes, I love you forever, Evan. Well, maybe
- 50:16Speaker 4: I did not.
- 50:18Speaker 9: Regards happy birthday, just love Evan.
- 50:21Speaker 4: That's not that hard.
- 50:22Speaker 6: How many's There was no time, there was no room.
- 50:27Speaker 4: Thanks for the sex. You didn't.
- 50:31Speaker 9: Wow, that's my fiance.
- 50:34Speaker 6: Good thing you didn't go Jesse. Okay, oh no, she
- 50:36Speaker 6: doesn't like Jessica, but you would have really run out
- 50:38Speaker 6: of space.
- 50:39Speaker 9: Her parents are the only ones that call her Jessica,
- 50:41Speaker 9: and like they say it like Jessica, you know, and
- 50:44Speaker 9: I'm like, off limits.
- 50:45Speaker 4: That's triggering, that's laying and Michael with me. Michael, all right,
- 50:49Speaker 4: you get a lot of Michael's. That's my personal story
- 50:51Speaker 4: for if I like mister birthday.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Let's get down to the keep going there on the
- 50:57Speaker 1: age ticket hotline eight five five pats five hundred is
- 51:00Speaker 1: the Ace ticket Hotline. We'll start with Nick in Australia.
- 51:04Speaker 4: What's up Nick?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Hey, guys. Good.
- 51:10Speaker 14: I another question for Evan and mine been something that
- 51:15Speaker 14: we don't talk enough about the pass rush. So I
- 51:19Speaker 14: don't know about the draft that I keep up with
- 51:21Speaker 14: it too much, But is there anyone in the draft
- 51:23Speaker 14: that we should look at getting or free agency because
- 51:26Speaker 14: Jon's only getting older and I don't think that pass
- 51:29Speaker 14: rush is ugly that good. So just wanting to get
- 51:31Speaker 14: your opinion on what direction.
- 51:33Speaker 1: That you go with edge rushers pass rusher.
- 51:36Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's important.
- 51:37Speaker 7: I think you could, you know, find I gotta admit,
- 51:39Speaker 7: like I get a little bit tempted by I know
- 51:40Speaker 7: Evan doesn't. But the Darius Robinson guy who is down
- 51:43Speaker 7: at the senior ball, who's who's pretty badass.
- 51:45Speaker 4: I mean, I think he'd be a great fit for
- 51:47Speaker 4: what they do, but he's probably late round one, early
- 51:51Speaker 4: round two kind of guy. So I don't know. I
- 51:53Speaker 4: think it's always bring built back.
- 51:55Speaker 6: I'm sure he could take him.
- 51:57Speaker 7: I no, right, but I just I think it's a
- 52:00Speaker 7: long term important position. And you know, we we did
- 52:02Speaker 7: a little mock draft video for fun there that I
- 52:04Speaker 7: think will be out probably tomorrow, I guess.
- 52:07Speaker 4: So it's just something to think about. Everybody's so distributed
- 52:10Speaker 4: that will be distributed to them.
- 52:14Speaker 11: I like.
- 52:16Speaker 9: So this is actually something that I've been thinking about
- 52:19Speaker 9: with free agency because we do our previews and I
- 52:21Speaker 9: was I do offense and duced Do's defense, and I'm
- 52:23Speaker 9: looking at the offense options and for the most part,
- 52:26Speaker 9: the guys especially that are going to get tagged, are
- 52:28Speaker 9: going to be out of the picture. T Higgins, you know,
- 52:30Speaker 9: things like that. And I would just kind of rather
- 52:33Speaker 9: than spend the money where the talent is right, like
- 52:35Speaker 9: don't go chasing Nelson Agile or two point zero again.
- 52:38Speaker 9: And you actually look at this edge rusher class and
- 52:40Speaker 9: free agency is absolutely loaded. I mean, whether it's Bryce Huff,
- 52:45Speaker 9: Josh Types or obviously Brian Burns and those guys at
- 52:49Speaker 9: the top. But this edge rusher class and free agency
- 52:52Speaker 9: is really.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Really bir It's the guy from Carolina that.
- 52:57Speaker 9: You know, but like Jonathan Greenard, Brian Burns, Josh changed,
- 53:00Speaker 9: not from Jacksonville, josh.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Allah, what change?
- 53:04Speaker 6: It used to be that Brian Burns is the baby
- 53:06Speaker 6: who was complaining. Now it's that Mac Jones.
- 53:10Speaker 9: I said, yeah, it's a really good free agency class
- 53:15Speaker 9: at edge rusher, and I look a couple of years ago,
- 53:17Speaker 9: Juden was easily their best signing. So like, my, maybe
- 53:21Speaker 9: they reducts that again and they signed one of these
- 53:24Speaker 9: edge rushers instead of paying a receiver.
- 53:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I saw somebody say it's really hard
- 53:27Speaker 7: to rebuild your offense through free agency, especially, so it's I.
- 53:31Speaker 4: Like what Evan's saying.
- 53:32Speaker 7: I think that those those positions should really be looked at,
- 53:34Speaker 7: you know, retaining like just they need some long term
- 53:37Speaker 7: stability along the defensive line because after this year, it's
- 53:39Speaker 7: it's gonna be everybody's going.
- 53:40Speaker 6: It's interesting to me, I think we could make a
- 53:42Speaker 6: good case study about that. Is it harder to rebuild
- 53:45Speaker 6: on one side or the other?
- 53:46Speaker 1: Now?
- 53:47Speaker 6: Maybe specific when you need everything that the Patriots need
- 53:50Speaker 6: an offense, you can't fix that in free agency. I mean,
- 53:52Speaker 6: that's it's a non starter. But like, how many teams
- 53:54Speaker 6: added a an alpha receiver and completely remade their offense.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Including the Patriots Randy Moss.
- 54:03Speaker 6: Right now, the Patriots added a lot. I mean, that's
- 54:05Speaker 6: a great example of completely rebuilding your offense through free agency.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Well, that's an example though, Fred. I think of the
- 54:11Speaker 4: ones that we just don't know, Like, you know, when
- 54:13Speaker 4: you go get Moss and you know he's a distressed
- 54:15Speaker 4: asset for another team that isn't actually on the free
- 54:18Speaker 4: agency market. And yeah, you know I've had some, but
- 54:20Speaker 4: I was Brown. Yeah, no right now. And that's but
- 54:24Speaker 4: Fred's is just trying to figure out those moves. It's
- 54:26Speaker 4: so hard to do. Those are somebody suggested Jack Conklin.
- 54:30Speaker 1: You know, it's it's building through veteran right.
- 54:33Speaker 9: But my point, I guess is that someone in that
- 54:37Speaker 9: receiver market is going to get disgruntled and become available.
- 54:40Speaker 9: Last year wasn't quite you know, DeAndre Hopkins was probably
- 54:43Speaker 9: the best one. It wasn't quite as big of a
- 54:45Speaker 9: year for that. But over the last four or five years,
- 54:48Speaker 9: whether it's Digs, you know, the guys, you guys named A. J. Brown,
- 54:52Speaker 9: Tyreek Hill, whoever, someone's gonna not get someone's gonna get
- 54:55Speaker 9: pissed off, and someone's gonna get traded.
- 54:57Speaker 6: It's just a matter of you can hold rather than
- 55:00Speaker 6: just take T Higgins or whoever.
- 55:03Speaker 4: You know, Brandon Ayuk.
- 55:05Speaker 6: You know, there's good receivers that Mike Evans, there's good
- 55:07Speaker 6: receivers that are going to be on the free agent market.
- 55:09Speaker 6: But I don't think it matters in terms of I'm
- 55:12Speaker 6: with Fred. If you acquire a big time player and
- 55:16Speaker 6: then you're gonna give him money, that's the same as
- 55:17Speaker 6: a free agent.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:19Speaker 9: No, I agree with that, you know what I mean.
- 55:20Speaker 6: And I don't really agree with the notion that it's
- 55:22Speaker 6: harder to do that on offense, yeah than defense.
- 55:24Speaker 4: I agree with that.
- 55:25Speaker 9: I just think that you don't know who is available
- 55:27Speaker 9: via the trade, right right, Yeah, Like I wouldn't want
- 55:29Speaker 9: to try to remake my offensive line by signing like
- 55:32Speaker 9: Tyron Smith.
- 55:32Speaker 6: Right yeah, yeah, that's and that's I don't I don't
- 55:34Speaker 6: think that makes a lot.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Somebody in the mail bag had suggested Jack Conklin, who
- 55:38Speaker 4: just signed a big deal with the with the Browns.
- 55:40Speaker 4: But then you know, Devon Jones is kind of pushing
- 55:42Speaker 4: him off the rock, you know, so could that be
- 55:43Speaker 4: again he's a Browns guy, you know, those kind of
- 55:45Speaker 4: moods that aren't enough of that kind of conjecture. I mean,
- 55:48Speaker 4: we said everybody wants to just jump right into the
- 55:50Speaker 4: third overall pick, but there's you know a lot of things.
- 55:52Speaker 1: You know, the forty nine is with their list of
- 55:54Speaker 1: stars that they have. At what point did these guys
- 55:57Speaker 1: start you know, falling? You know, and it's super available.
- 56:01Speaker 9: Brandon Yuka's getting there, so he's you know, his fifth
- 56:04Speaker 9: year options next year, so they have him under contract
- 56:07Speaker 9: for one more year. What about like Bosa, No, he's
- 56:10Speaker 9: signed big money for a while. But the interesting thing
- 56:13Speaker 9: about Brandon Nyuk is like he's more of that natural
- 56:16Speaker 9: type of receiver, like a traditional type of receiver. Do
- 56:19Speaker 9: they look at it and say we'd rather him than
- 56:22Speaker 9: Deebo Samuel And does Deebo Samuel become available?
- 56:25Speaker 4: It's interesting.
- 56:25Speaker 9: I mean, obviously, I think the forty nine ers are
- 56:27Speaker 9: just going to try to keep everybody, but at some
- 56:30Speaker 9: point I agreed, at some point someone is going to
- 56:32Speaker 9: get loose and isn't going to be able to be resigned.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Yeah, as much as I love him, I'm starting to
- 56:40Speaker 1: think that way too. He's just too hurt too.
- 56:42Speaker 6: There's a lot of wear and tear and what what
- 56:44Speaker 6: do you think he was so upset about all those carries?
- 56:47Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 56:47Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, right, Well, and the problem with him is
- 56:50Speaker 9: that he needs to play that way to be effective.
- 56:52Speaker 9: So if you're not giving him the ball on the
- 56:54Speaker 9: on the jet sweeps and things like that.
- 56:56Speaker 6: I'd take it. Oh, don't get me like, I think
- 56:59Speaker 6: he's a good player, really good player, but I don't
- 57:02Speaker 6: know how much longer he's going to be that now.
- 57:04Speaker 6: I wouldn't thought, to be honest with you, I would
- 57:06Speaker 6: have thought very similarly about Tyreek killing. He's kind of
- 57:09Speaker 6: making that look look bad. He's had two amazing he
- 57:12Speaker 6: said this next year is last year. No, but I'm
- 57:15Speaker 6: just saying I would have thought that when Kansas City
- 57:17Speaker 6: let him go, you probably had seen the best of him,
- 57:20Speaker 6: and you didn't. You had two great years, Miami.
- 57:22Speaker 9: This is for all these reasons. This is you know
- 57:25Speaker 9: why I wonder if the Niners priorities Ayuk, who's more
- 57:28Speaker 9: of that longevity, traditional you know, type of route runner,
- 57:32Speaker 9: type of receiver, versus a guy like Deebo who might
- 57:35Speaker 9: be starting to wear down a little bit. So I
- 57:37Speaker 9: don't know. I just look at free agency trying to
- 57:41Speaker 9: learn from the lessons of the lot of a couple
- 57:43Speaker 9: of years ago of why some of the things didn't
- 57:45Speaker 9: exactly work out. I think a lot of it is
- 57:47Speaker 9: because they paid top dollar for like C plus talent,
- 57:52Speaker 9: so I'd rather than pay Antoine Winfield junior.
- 57:55Speaker 6: Do you see what they're gonna have to pay in
- 57:56Speaker 6: this class.
- 57:57Speaker 7: Again, like the one class you kind of like, oh,
- 58:00Speaker 7: you look back on that with like romantic eyes and like, oh,
- 58:03Speaker 7: you know, they got a bunch of like mid round
- 58:04Speaker 7: mid you know, they filled a bunch of holes. But
- 58:07Speaker 7: after twenty twenty one, it feels like get the talent,
- 58:10Speaker 7: you know, like use free agent to get guys like
- 58:12Speaker 7: Jude On who you know are going to make I mean,
- 58:14Speaker 7: and Hunter Henry even for what.
- 58:16Speaker 6: Boy like my boy's all growns up your family. You
- 58:19Speaker 6: finally get it.
- 58:21Speaker 4: Well, it took five years of watching the Patriots.
- 58:23Speaker 6: Horses horses over pony s, as Tony says.
- 58:27Speaker 7: Well, at least in free agency, you know, and it's
- 58:28Speaker 7: it's that's I mean, use those draft picks, use those
- 58:31Speaker 7: late round draft.
- 58:31Speaker 4: Picks to you know, take those kind of swings on
- 58:33Speaker 4: those of those kind of guys.
- 58:34Speaker 6: Just take any other day. You know, the fifty year
- 58:36Speaker 6: option thing, it's just a first round picks. What do
- 58:39Speaker 6: you would you think it would make any sense if
- 58:41Speaker 6: instead of just first round picks they said you could
- 58:44Speaker 6: use that on one member of the draft class. Hmm,
- 58:47Speaker 6: instead of it having to be a first round pick.
- 58:49Speaker 9: Well, how much is it? Does it pay relative based
- 58:51Speaker 9: off of their production for the first four years or
- 58:54Speaker 9: does it continue on the same wage skill? Yeah, because
- 58:57Speaker 9: it's not fair to the player at that point. Like
- 58:59Speaker 9: I think it's ridiculous. You know, the workI wage scouts.
- 59:02Speaker 9: I can't believe the NFLPA agreed to that to begin with.
- 59:04Speaker 6: But it's terrible.
- 59:08Speaker 9: It's terrible.
- 59:08Speaker 6: I'm terrible players union, it really is.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Let's go to Eldred, North Carolina. What's up, Eldred?
- 59:14Speaker 6: But I hadn't thought about the details of how they
- 59:16Speaker 6: get how that shifty year off.
- 59:18Speaker 11: Hey Fellas, Hello, he heard your rent this morning?
- 59:25Speaker 9: Which one I'm glad are you? And it about everything.
- 59:30Speaker 14: I had to draw the line, bro, we have to
- 59:33Speaker 14: draw the line.
- 59:34Speaker 4: I watched him to get to scouting and.
- 59:37Speaker 9: That's come out great.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Mate.
- 59:39Speaker 15: You watch him when you comes to scout.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Get ready for the combine or get ready for the draft.
- 59:44Speaker 14: We watch them every weekend because either week.
- 59:47Speaker 11: Cooking out or way at the bar, and what we
- 59:50Speaker 11: see is what we see.
- 59:51Speaker 9: You love them because his size and a strong arm
- 59:54Speaker 9: and okay, so so only people from Los Angeles are
- 59:58Speaker 9: allowed to have an opinion on William.
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: I've watched him play plenty of games. I'm very impressed
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: with them. Listen, that doesn't mean I'm right. There's a
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: lot of guys that I've been wrong about over the years,
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: but it's not because I didn't watch them play so right.
- 1:00:09Speaker 9: That's like, I think my point is elder and I'm
- 1:00:12Speaker 9: like being an a hole. I realize that, But my
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: point is is that we all watched the same We're
- 1:00:17Speaker 9: all watching the guy play, We're all watching the same games.
- 1:00:20Speaker 9: We've all watched him play. We all have different opinions.
- 1:00:22Speaker 9: That's fine.
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: We're not all required to see everything the same.
- 1:00:27Speaker 14: Yeah, I know we're not.
- 1:00:28Speaker 15: But will it make a bit with you, Evan, I'm
- 1:00:31Speaker 15: gonna make one with Paul wished them out a bit.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: If I owe you something, send me your address. I'll
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: send it to you. I don't have Matt Morrell send it,
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: though I can vouch for Matt Morell. He showed me today,
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: set out numerous multiple.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: You're all getting your six shirt today if we draft them.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll give I gave you about nine games, and
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: you see what we're talking about. If you're right you.
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be a little I'm
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: gonna be a little stubborn though more than I need
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: to see him quarter I'm not gonna saddle him. Like
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: if he gets stuck here with nothing around him, I'm
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: not gonna blame that just on the quarterback.
- 1:01:16Speaker 9: I just think, Okay, we'll be fair.
- 1:01:17Speaker 15: I did I give him a year?
- 1:01:19Speaker 14: Give you a year?
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: I think how about three? Can we Can we wait
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: three years for a draft?
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: For three?
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: You're not going anywhere, bigie.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Well, you're watching your phone and you're driving your truck.
- 1:01:31Speaker 6: I mean that's come on now, No, seriously, you gotta
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: give him a couple of Like okay.
- 1:01:38Speaker 14: On the.
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: I don't know what that is.
- 1:01:41Speaker 11: I told you year you won't get rid of.
- 1:01:44Speaker 15: And I told you the people to get drafted before him,
- 1:01:46Speaker 15: and he was.
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: And I said that that Nikhil Harry would be better
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: than the guys that were drafted after.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: Him, to.
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: Harry's good.
- 1:01:59Speaker 15: But I said, the guys are drafted after Harry and
- 1:02:01Speaker 15: before Harry a whole lot better than he will be.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: If I owe you something, Eldred, I'd be happy to
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: pay up. But I like, I literally referred to Harry
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: as a bust in ot as ot as before he
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: before he got to his first training camp, I said,
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: this guy can't run routes, he can't get open.
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: I just think one thing that you have to do
- 1:02:24Speaker 9: with the draft, and this is why I picked fun
- 1:02:26Speaker 9: at the people from North Carolina. The college production and
- 1:02:30Speaker 9: winning and losing in college does not make you a
- 1:02:33Speaker 9: good NFL prospect. It doesn't make a difference. So if
- 1:02:38Speaker 9: Jaden Daniels won the Heisman Trophy, that doesn't guarantee that
- 1:02:41Speaker 9: he's going to be a good NFL player. I think
- 1:02:43Speaker 9: it's a good prospect. I'm just saying that college production
- 1:02:46Speaker 9: and college success and the stats that you put up
- 1:02:49Speaker 9: in college, that's not how That's not what we're doing here.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: Well it's not the only thing, but I like this,
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: it's almost nothing.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I like to see people succeeding well.
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: They've all succeeded. All three of those guys have succeeded well.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I'm just saying in general, I'm not just talking about
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: those three guys. I mean it's good to see guys
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: have production.
- 1:03:08Speaker 9: When you draft based off of college production, you get
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: into trouble.
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: I'm but I would just say that. And again, Tim
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: Boyle excluded all college quarterbacks that are up for the
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: NFL Draft succeeded. They had stats fill in Eastern who
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: threw more picks than touchdowns. Because I couldn't believe it
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: when I when I was reading that stuff about I
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: didn't know anything about Tim Boyle. That game that he played,
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: the Black Friday game. He he was uh, you know,
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: they were talking. He's like, he wasn't even good in college.
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: How was he even in the league. I think he's
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: Rogers's buddy. He's another one of those guys.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Fill in Eastern North Carolina. I'm a very long time
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: listener since right around when the show started. Probably I've
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: been in North Carolina since about the time, and I'm
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: blown away by the idiots down here talking about Drake
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: May The people from here saying he can't play are
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: no doubt North Carolina State or Virginia Tech fans. Both
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: fan bases hate UNC with every fiber of there being.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: They spend more time talking about UNC than their own teams,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: especially North Carolina State. Drake is a great kid, a leader,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: and talented. He and Sam Howell struggled the last three
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: years behind a very poor pass blocking line and limited
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: skill talent. He has plenty to work on, especially his footwork,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: but he should be our number one choice. Oh there's
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: there's a North Carolina vote for it.
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: I like all three of those guys. By the way,
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: there's just I think Evan said it about a half
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: hour ago. Just there's a lot of differences between the three.
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: They're not all the same style.
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm just not even allowing myself really to invest
- 1:04:43Speaker 7: in Kayleb Williams because I just I just can't see
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: it the way one.
- 1:04:46Speaker 9: Or two And he cried that one time and he
- 1:04:49Speaker 9: totally out on him, just like, why can't I just
- 1:04:52Speaker 9: wish Kayleb Williams that the conversation was because he does
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: have flawses as a player, like there's no perfect prospect,
- 1:04:59Speaker 9: but we don't like here people talk about those things
- 1:05:02Speaker 9: because it's all about the crying and all, you know,
- 1:05:04Speaker 9: his attitude and this and that and the other thing.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: If I had the people like these North Carolina people
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: calling me about Caleb Williams talking about how he holds
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: the ball too long and tries to extend every play,
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: plays hero ball. It doesn't play within the structure of
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: the offense. I would take all of that, yeah, over
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: that he cried after the Utah game or the Washington whatever,
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: And all of those.
- 1:05:22Speaker 9: Are legitimate knocks I would say about Caleb Williams.
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: And he's a little smaller than i'd like. He's six
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: to one.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Yeah, Willson Cranston.
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: What's up?
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:05:33Speaker 16: How are we doing today?
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Fellas?
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Well, hey lady, Hey, hey lady.
- 1:05:41Speaker 16: I want to touch on the three quarterbacks today.
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: I think Caleb Williams. He is the best talent in
- 1:05:49Speaker 16: the right now, but I'm a little bit scared of
- 1:05:52Speaker 16: him to play in our market, considering how quick we
- 1:05:54Speaker 16: were willing to do away with Matt Jones. Oh, but
- 1:06:00Speaker 16: I think I'd be happy with either Drake may or
- 1:06:03Speaker 16: Jayden Daniels. But the question I had today is, would
- 1:06:08Speaker 16: you guys be more comfortable with Drake may or with
- 1:06:10Speaker 16: Jadon Daniels, Because what makes me nervous is that Jaydon
- 1:06:14Speaker 16: Daniels had Elik Neighbors as the safety blanket, and he's
- 1:06:20Speaker 16: one of the best receivers in the NCAA right now
- 1:06:23Speaker 16: as well. So would you guys rather have somebody who's
- 1:06:29Speaker 16: kind of isolated as far as known talent.
- 1:06:32Speaker 11: With Drake May or would you guys rather.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Go Jayan Daniels whoever Ben McAdoo wants, That's who I want.
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: But I think that's the point that I'm trying to
- 1:06:40Speaker 9: make is that next, well, comparing Drake May's stats in
- 1:06:43Speaker 9: college to Jayden Daniels is not Apple's Orange. It's not
- 1:06:47Speaker 9: a fair because not only does he have Leake Neighbors,
- 1:06:50Speaker 9: he also has Brian Thomas, who's also going to go
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: in the first round at receiver from LSU, and Michael
- 1:06:55Speaker 9: Pennix has like sixteen guys that are going to go
- 1:06:57Speaker 9: get drafted on his offense. So if you had put
- 1:07:00Speaker 9: Drake May in LSU's offense and he's throwing them Elik Neighbors,
- 1:07:03Speaker 9: he's throwing to Brian Thomas, and he's got all these
- 1:07:05Speaker 9: weapons around him, like, you don't know.
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: How it would have looked.
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: I think there's also a lot of intangible factors involved
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: with that kind of stuff. With the amount that is
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: on Drake May as compared you know, like this year,
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: the amount that and this would be a red flag
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: to me on Caleb Williams, like he had the great
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: year where he won the Heisman and he's the guy
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: he's in the spotlight and he didn't handle the spot
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: He didn't have as good a year his last year
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: as he did two years ago. That would be a
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: red flag for me. But that's football, like he you know,
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: maybe he wasn't ready for that amount of scrutiny. He
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: sort of put himself in that spotlight with the you know,
- 1:07:45Speaker 6: the stuff he did with Notre Dame on his fingernails
- 1:07:47Speaker 6: and things like that, and then he played by far
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: his worst game against Notre Dame. Like that would worry
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: me a little bit.

- 1:09:25Speaker 5: so I'm putting him on your gun here. Oh yeah,
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: all right. We're gonna start with some Trivia's always Chris
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: don't answer? All right? Question one? Who was the halftime
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: performer for Super Bowl thirty six?
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: Question two? What number was Patriots receiver Michael Floyd. All
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: he's known for is that big block. And then number three,
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: who caught the first pass for the Patriots of Super
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: Bowl forty nine. All right, send your answers in the
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: web Radio Patriots dot com. Chris, I switched it up
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: on your little there. Yeah, yeah, and forty nine, forty
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: nine and Chris, we are gonna do some start bench cuts,
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: all right, and your task for the day was come
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: up with some start bench cuts. Let's discuss them, all right.
- 1:10:12Speaker 12: Let me thank here for a quick moment.
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: For you.
- 1:10:17Speaker 12: Let's doo.
- 1:10:17Speaker 18: I'm gonna start with three super bowl all right, all right,
- 1:10:20Speaker 18: first one super Bowl I think it was thirty nine.
- 1:10:24Speaker 18: Start super Bowl thirty nine, super Bowl forty nine, and
- 1:10:27Speaker 18: super Bowl fifty one.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: It's easy money y, spice it up a little. I'm
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: going to start forty nine. That's like one of the
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: bad best pass teams of all times, and I think
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: they played one of the best teams like that defense
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: leading to boom all time bench fifty one, cut thirty nine,
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: like good team.
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: I just wasn't was it thirty ninety nine? It was
- 1:10:50Speaker 12: a thirty eight.
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: I get a mixed up too. We won so many yeah,
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: I think thirty nine. It was yeah, yeah, alright, well yeah, yeah, no,
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: you agree. What's your what's yours for me?
- 1:11:01Speaker 12: Thirty nine, forty nine, fifty.
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: One, fifty one?
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Three?
- 1:11:07Speaker 9: Correct?
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: Okay that I.
- 1:11:08Speaker 18: Would start that one, all right, forty nine, I would
- 1:11:13Speaker 18: bench that one, and I would cut thirty nine.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: See'd start fifty one.
- 1:11:17Speaker 12: I would start fifty one. Okay, okay, okay, I bench
- 1:11:21Speaker 12: forty nine and I cut thirty nine.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: The real question is how old are you in thirty nine?
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Is that? Yeah?
- 1:11:28Speaker 12: That was three years old. Three years old.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: You watched three games of glory for that one day.
- 1:11:32Speaker 18: I did.
- 1:11:33Speaker 12: Oh, I remember, Oh you should thirty six, thirty six.
- 1:11:35Speaker 12: I was not even one yet.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: You're gonna scare the listeners.
- 1:11:38Speaker 12: Not even one yet.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: What you got next? Next?
- 1:11:41Speaker 18: I would say, top three. I'm gonna list three receivers.
- 1:11:46Speaker 18: Are three big catches from previous games, all right, and
- 1:11:48Speaker 18: you're in at the start bench cut all right. First
- 1:11:51Speaker 18: Edelman's catch against the Falcons.
- 1:11:54Speaker 12: And Super Bowl fifty one. There you go, there you
- 1:11:57Speaker 12: go get my Super bowls right.
- 1:11:59Speaker 18: Second, Camberl Tompkins overtime sorry, end of the fourth quarter
- 1:12:03Speaker 18: catch against the Saints. Third one is Gronk over the
- 1:12:05Speaker 18: middle against the Broncos, and I think it was twenty thirteen.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: Yeah, sounds about right. Ye see, yeah, that's right. All right.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: I'm gonna go star Edelman. And this is just because
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: the moments, the Super Bowl big moments, you know, and
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: you're gonna bench Kemberrill Tompkins. I remember I was in
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: college for that one great great day that that Also
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: the best part about that catch was just the drive
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: by Brady's throwing that I meet the Kemberll Tompkins and
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: Austin Coley, so that one and then got to cut
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: the Gronk catch although it was great with this robotic arm, So.
- 1:12:37Speaker 12: I agree with that.
- 1:12:37Speaker 18: I think it's a really close toss up between Kemberle
- 1:12:40Speaker 18: and Julian to be honest with you, all right, I
- 1:12:43Speaker 18: feel that way because I don't know, it's just obviously
- 1:12:46Speaker 18: the Super Bowl big moment. You have to start that
- 1:12:48Speaker 18: one for Julian. But for me, with that Cambervill catch,
- 1:12:51Speaker 18: I just remember as a fan, like a young fan.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:54Speaker 12: Like again, I think that was also twenty thirteen season.
- 1:12:59Speaker 12: Just crazy how it just sticks in my memory.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: It will be interesting if you put like go at
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: the edeline and catch be out. If it wasn't in
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: the Super Bowl exact, then then then then we have
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: a discussion there. Yeah, agree to the moment the moment,
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: I agree. All right, let's get one more.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: And one more?
- 1:13:16Speaker 12: Yeah, oh god, it's a lot of pressure tastes.
- 1:13:20Speaker 18: All right, well, I'll just let's do one not sport. Really,
- 1:13:23Speaker 18: I'm gonna do something crazy dinner foods.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: Okay, you know I love food.
- 1:13:28Speaker 18: All Right, we'll start Sorry, no, I'm not starting, but
- 1:13:31Speaker 18: we'll go chicken, and we'll go steak, and then we'll
- 1:13:35Speaker 18: go let's go haddock.
- 1:13:37Speaker 12: Let's start haddock in there?
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: Do you want to just do fish?
- 1:13:42Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: Either is a type of chicken when we do it
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: like chicken tenders?
- 1:13:46Speaker 18: Sure, however you want to, all right, let's do let's
- 1:13:49Speaker 18: do primary, let's do chicken tenders, and let's do let's
- 1:13:54Speaker 18: do I don't know, fried trip.
- 1:13:58Speaker 12: Trip all right, right, totally random.
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: I'm starting tendies, okay, like, let's starting tendies and I'm
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: benching the prime rib and I'm cut in the shrimp,
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: cut the shrimp. It's tough though it's close.
- 1:14:10Speaker 18: All right, I would start see, I would start that
- 1:14:12Speaker 18: prime rim. Like if you get a good piece of
- 1:14:14Speaker 18: prime rib and you're you're eating that, it's so good.
- 1:14:17Speaker 18: You got the juices and stuff. I'll bench the tendees.
- 1:14:19Speaker 18: I'm cutting the fried trimp. I'm actually allergic to shrimp tease.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Now I know.
- 1:14:24Speaker 12: There you go. That's why I'm calling it all right.
- 1:14:27Speaker 12: Thanks for joining.
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: Remember I said your trivia answers to the web of
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: Patriots dot com. Man. Let's get back to the show.
- 1:14:35Speaker 19: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, no
- 1:14:40Speaker 19: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:14:43Speaker 19: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:14:47Speaker 19: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: And now great moments in.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: History?
- 1:14:56Speaker 20: Am I allowed to call out other PU listeners slash callers?
- 1:14:59Speaker 20: If so, I would like to call out Todd in
- 1:15:01Speaker 20: North Carolina for being a fraud whoa a week or
- 1:15:04Speaker 20: two ago, you called him out for all the.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Background noise when he called into the show. He claimed
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: he didn't know why there was so much noise, and
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: then he might have been doing dishes or something. I
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: have a hard time believing this story. Why would he
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: know well, why would he not know what he was
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: doing when he called the show.
- 1:15:18Speaker 20: It seems like something you remember, Love you Todd, just
- 1:15:21Speaker 20: having fun and then he calls us out for our
- 1:15:25Speaker 20: background noise.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: So let's go to Todd in North Carolina. Todd, if
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: you called it.
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: Perfect, If you did that on purpose, that was good,
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: well done, my friend. No, I don't think you did
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: it on purpose. All right, that's another great moment.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Already counting down the days until first kickoff. I know
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: I am spend the off season shopping with a full
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: month of exciting new choices during Bob Discounts Furniture's President's

- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Bob's Discount Furniture the official furniture store of the New

- 1:16:27Speaker 1: is that Monday?
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: Monday?
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Okay, head down to Bob's, but be here it's it's
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: on a holiday.
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: I was just about to say that I'm careful, Oh, Flora,
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: next week the South where you're going college visits, college
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: visits so exciting, hoping to get recruited.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: You're gonna go by UNC Chapel Hill.
- 1:16:45Speaker 9: Do you still have eligibility?
- 1:16:46Speaker 17: We are?
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: Are you stopping and see Drake may there?
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: Although there was a kid at be you that played
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: like six years, so I think they are a little
- 1:16:54Speaker 6: lenient on the baseball side of it. By the way,
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: we think you play three years for Suffolk three years
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: would be.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: We would be remiss if we didn't mention what happened
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: in the chiefs prayed yesterday.
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: That's awful.
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: That's a good point, Freddie.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what the count is now, but
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I know at least one person died and a few
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: people are in critical condition.
- 1:17:15Speaker 7: And it sounds like three people were arrested and that
- 1:17:17Speaker 7: it was just kind of like a beef beef between
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: these three people.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but they were just I guess shooting everywhere.
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: You know, No, it sounds like you know, one one
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: woman DJ there lost your life. I think everybody else
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: is expected to make a full recovery. But yeah, I
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: wish I could say I'm surprised. This is what happens now.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so it sucked, you know, because it was a
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: day of celebration and then it ends in tragedy and
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: that's not good. Nope, Yeah, it's sad, all right. Eight
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: five five pass five hundred is the ace ticket? Hutline,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Pat in Agawan, No, that's that's not the one. I'm sorry, Pat,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: I'll get to your a little later. But Speed writes
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: in speak he said, I emailed before the Super Bowl
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: saying I was rooting for Kansas City for the petty
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: reason of not wanting the net neutral quarterback idea to
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: gain traction, which I'm glad it didn't. And what was
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: a pretty sure test of it. You look at this
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: century for average quarterbacks who won it all, and there's
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Trent Dilford, Brad Johnson, maybe the Wentz Folks duo, although
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: I wonder if Wentz was above average, and the injury
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: that year in stalled his career. But those are exceptions
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: to the rule that net neutral quarterbacks don't generally win
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Super Bowls? Right? How does Barth handle such facts?
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: Well, when you go to overtime at the Super Bowl
- 1:18:34Speaker 9: and you're like three plays away from winning, are you
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: really winning the argument?
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: Speed. That's what I said on Tuesday. If I believed
- 1:18:42Speaker 6: in that side, nothing that happened on Sunday, would.
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: You just look at who won and you said, this
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: is the truth, this is the way to do it. Again.
- 1:18:49Speaker 6: If you do it that way, why do you bother watching?
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: Just wait to see who wins? And that's the opinion fact,
- 1:18:55Speaker 6: Like school board, Felger right, So board, a couple.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: Two plays go in different way, the result changes, it
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: changes all the sudden.
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: We should build our team with the seventh round pick.
- 1:19:05Speaker 6: And again, you know when you just get clouded by
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: wins and losses. So again, like Evan said, the game
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: easily could have gone the other way. I said out
- 1:19:13Speaker 6: on Tuesday, like if I was Alex and I believed
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: in that net neutral thing, nothing that happened in the
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: game would. But I would say if I didn't believe
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: in the net neutral thing, like I don't, I would
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: point to the luck factor of winning the first two
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: games in the playoffs, largely because your quarterback wasn't ready
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: to play in the first half of both of those games.
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: He played well when he had to. To his credit,
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: he came up big in the fourth quarter. But we said,
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: if they can. If they play the same way, they're
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: probably gonna lose to Kansas City, And they kind of did.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Hey, Matt, no trivia? Oh okay, we's all right.
- 1:19:48Speaker 6: It's my favorite time.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: And I was just wondering if you had trivia you
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: want to just read it?
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: Don't you just read them out?
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: You could be part of the show. You have to
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: print it out. I know you're having printer troubles in there.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: Who was the halftime performer for Super Bowl thirty six?
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: You too too?
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: Come on, get out, Yeah, come on, let's.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: Make what number did Michael Floyd?
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: Fifteen?
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: Yeah, fifteen? I was gonna say eighteen. I knew that
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: wasn't right. I think I should say what number was
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: Michael Floyd?
- 1:20:17Speaker 6: Fifteen?
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: Fourteen?
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: Fourteen, fourteen?
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: And who caught the first pass for the Patriots in
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: Super Bowl forty nine?
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: Which one was that?
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: Brandon Lafel, Yeah, forty nine?
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: With which one?
- 1:20:31Speaker 9: Shane Veren?
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Is that that the Seahawks?
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: No, Jules, it was Julian Jules.
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: I got Gronka for an answer that makes sense? How
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: could that be?
- 1:20:41Speaker 9: Well, we guessed everybody else, So all right, winners will
- 1:20:45Speaker 9: get their T shirts.
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: I kind of went into that question thinking that you
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: know it was an obscure. Yeah, Rod Rutlicks.
- 1:20:50Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Robert, speaking of games l has won from Wisconsin. This
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: is an either or game. Uh, Either or take a
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: quarterback at three and end up with a J. Cutler
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: level player, or trade down and leave the first round
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: with only a left tackle Jake Cutler.
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I guess j Cutler.
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: I mean it's a good Cutler level player has some arm,
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: but yeah, I'll take the left tack.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: Does he have his kind of like attitude smoking Jacobs?
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: Well, that's different, he said player exactly. That's why I
- 1:21:29Speaker 9: said Jake Color.
- 1:21:30Speaker 6: So he has J Cutler's ability. He's really funny, Jay
- 1:21:33Speaker 6: Cutler with good mind.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: So you're gonna use your third round pick and you're
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: gonna end up with a J. Cutler level player.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: Talent, Yeah, talent.
- 1:21:40Speaker 9: Jake Color is definitely talented.
- 1:21:41Speaker 6: If you're gonna tell me he has JA Cutler's work ethic,
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: then I'll take the tackle.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Well that's what I think he meant.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: What he said football. That's a good it's a good
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: it's a it's a really good example.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: Right, let me rephrase it you're gonna have the type
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: of career Jay Cutler.
- 1:21:52Speaker 6: Hell, I'm still kind of going with I can get
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: a tackle anywhere.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: All right, to make it make it to nine, I
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: went round.
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: Tackles are pretty good.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: I'll try to read this question.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: Just have another conversation.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: Make it to nine wins next year, scraping by to
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: barely beat only one playoff team, or have another top
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: three pick next year.
- 1:22:15Speaker 9: Top three pick.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, top three pick.
- 1:22:18Speaker 18: I think.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: So we're going to have to listen to the tank
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: it all year from.
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: How about like you do, but you win like you know,
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: two or out of your last three and you show some.
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll take the nine wins.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: Me too.
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: I'll take the nine wins, but that means because that
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: means they've made some additions to the roster that worked.
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: I'll take the nine wins.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: Next year, I want I want to start.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: You tell me that you wouldn't think that that was
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: amazing to win nine games?
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: You're expected. But he wants, yeah, get it all at once.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: I know, question I want to start.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: I want to start.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: I don't know about your recent hires, man, they're way
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: too You.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Want to start developing a winning culture. Not a losing culture.
- 1:22:58Speaker 9: I don't think. I don't think I count as a
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: recent higher No, I.
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: Mean, listen to me.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: I think Paul's right though, like something had to go
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: right and they were, you know.
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: So they like, so if that team's gonna win nine
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: games next year, that means they hit on some draft picks.
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: But that wasn't hit on some free agency and Gerd
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: Mayo was pretty good.
- 1:23:15Speaker 9: That was I would take that. That wasn't exactly what
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: the question was.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: He said, making the nine wins scraping by to barely
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: beat only one playoff like.
- 1:23:22Speaker 9: A bad nine win team, I'll take.
- 1:23:25Speaker 6: But that means all of those things happened. They are
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: not capable right now of doing that.
- 1:23:30Speaker 9: That's not the way I took the question when you
- 1:23:31Speaker 9: say scrapping by. But I'm just looking at you finger
- 1:23:34Speaker 9: and brought. But you're going from four they last year?
- 1:23:38Speaker 9: Have I agree?
- 1:23:39Speaker 6: They lost to the backups last year. That's why they
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: went from seven wins to four.
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: That's twenty twenty two. Like, I don't need another twenty
- 1:23:45Speaker 9: twenty two.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: All right, that's all dominate the regular season, but choking
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: the playoffs like Baltimore or have a ten point lead
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl. But Kyle Shanahan is your coach?
- 1:23:56Speaker 9: Z strays for no reason?
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: I know, got how about your guy? How about your
- 1:24:04Speaker 6: guy firing his defensive coordinate?
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: It's pretty fun pretty funny.
- 1:24:09Speaker 9: There's there's more to that story.
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: Oh yeah, of course there is. Bill Belichick's going to
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: replace him.
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: No, No, they had already. He had already taken over
- 1:24:18Speaker 9: some of the defensive game planning and stuff like that.
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: Showed couldn't stop it that they had some issues, had
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: some issues.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Christian in North Carolina says, why isn't Jayden Daniels a
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: fit for a VP? Isn't Lamar Jackson's offense now very
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: play action heavy and run based. I don't get why
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: he wouldn't be a fit in an A v P offense.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:24:39Speaker 6: Lamar Jackson under center a lot.
- 1:24:40Speaker 9: Now they run pistol, which that's how you get your
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: play action, which we've talked about in the past, is
- 1:24:47Speaker 9: a way to adapt it.
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:24:50Speaker 9: Van Pelt's offense is traditional under center, hard play action.
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: Off of that, it's just you're not not really a fit.
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: It's just a officer, right, I mean, it's perfect for
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: Joe Flacco.
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: That's like what he did, and even then he threw
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: one hundred interceptions.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: I like Flacco, it is what it is, Jordan writes
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: in I know there was talk or a report out
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: there that said it's likely the Patriots are trading Mac Jones.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: We know that there was interest from the forty nine
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: ers when Mack was coming out. Do you think it's
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: a potential landing spot for him? If not the forty
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: nine ers, where do you think Mack could end up?
- 1:25:24Speaker 7: I don't really think the forty nine ers, just because
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: brock Purty seems so contemporary to him. It just seems
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: like a weird kind of combination.
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: Can I just guys pick at that again?
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: Sure, Like, do we really believe that that that the
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: forty nine ers really wanted Mac?
- 1:25:37Speaker 11: No?
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: No, because you know, I just they they moved up
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: from twelve to three and took another quarterback. Is that
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: just because of John Lynch? That's what everybody's saying, Like
- 1:25:50Speaker 6: Kyle Shanahan wants to fight John Lynch still to this
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: day because he didn't do that. Like, I just don't
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: believe it.
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: I don't believe it. I'll just say what I don't
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: see is I don't see the way they got back
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: party planning. I don't see Mac Jones plan that way.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: Like Ma mac Jones, they will rolling out and you know,
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: doing bootleg stuff like that's not mac Jones.
- 1:26:06Speaker 9: Brock Party definitely has more mobility than Mac and like
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: mobility that he can actually tap into. Like I think
- 1:26:11Speaker 9: if they ran a race then maybe it would be
- 1:26:13Speaker 9: pretty close. But you know, actual in game mobility, Brock
- 1:26:17Speaker 9: Parties definitely moves around better.
- 1:26:20Speaker 6: I mean, I just I just pushed back on the whole,
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: like push. Kyle Shanahan wanted mac Jones, that's why they
- 1:26:27Speaker 6: moved up, and John Lynch overruled him.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: It's possible.
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: I just don't why is that.
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: I didn't even have to move because I don't think
- 1:26:33Speaker 6: you make a move that high in the draft for
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: a specific guy and then don't take that guy. Well
- 1:26:39Speaker 6: maybe I don't think that makes any sense at all.
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: And there was no buzz. He was tough three guys.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I don't know. See, maybe the part about Shanahan liking
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: mac Jones is true, but maybe they moved up to
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: get Trey Lance.
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: Oh yeah, no, no, no, that's fine. I'll accept that. Yeah,
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: that's not the story though. The story is that Shanahan
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: was pissed because he wanted mac Jones, but he was written.
- 1:27:00Speaker 9: Maybe they didn't want to do the trade.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: I don't believe that you liked Lancelie. I don't think.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: I don't think guy.
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I think, because it would have taken him.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: It wasn't his call. Yes it is.
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: You can't be the god. Sorry, you can't be the
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: god of football and not have a b.
- 1:27:15Speaker 11: No.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: But like, okay, so in any organ say you get
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: to draft, I apologize, you get to draft, and there's.
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: This huge argument and you know, listen, Fredett, Well, Fred,
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: you're right. I don't know. I don't know for sure.
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: I just don't believe it. I don't believe that you
- 1:27:32Speaker 6: go from twelve to three to target a guy and
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: then change your mind and not take the guy. I
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: don't believe.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: I don't know about that.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: But that's the way it's written.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: I can I can see Shanahan liking mac Jones because
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: he's that net neutral quarterback coming out of and in
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: my se I think, and in my system. And then
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: I could see Lynch liking the guy with more intangibles
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: and more skill, and then the owner saying, we're gonna
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: go with Trey Lank.
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: You can't trade up the three. It's taking that neutral
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: guy though, right, Like, No, I don't know, that's part
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: of it.
- 1:28:01Speaker 6: May not be accurate, but that's the but that's the story.
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: That's what we're pushing back on.
- 1:28:07Speaker 9: I think the forty nine Ers trade up was it
- 1:28:09Speaker 9: didn't work out, obviously, but the idea behind it was
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: really smart because they already had Jimmy Garoppolo, so they
- 1:28:15Speaker 9: had the average quarterback and they took a big swing
- 1:28:19Speaker 9: on getting somebody that had a little bit more ceiling
- 1:28:21Speaker 9: and it didn't work.
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: And I think that the the.
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: I don't know, the attraction for Shanahan, if it was
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: true to mac Jones, is that he had the team
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: already and he was the most quote unquote NFL Right.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: I agree, and that's why I I that's why I
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: can see Shanahan liking mac Jones.
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: I Evnan just told you why that was irrelevant because
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: you didn't need a guy that that year.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Well, Garoppolos always hurt and maybe they just didn't think
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: he had it.
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: I agree with Fred that there's a I know that
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: mac Jones didn't.
- 1:28:54Speaker 9: I think there was really they didn't.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Nobody knew it at the time.
- 1:28:57Speaker 9: That the forty nine ers would have your would have
- 1:29:01Speaker 9: taken mac Jones at twelve if they had never traded up.
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: That's different.
- 1:29:04Speaker 9: I think that there's a really good chance that he
- 1:29:06Speaker 9: would have been the pick there.
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: But the story, and I agree with Mike, is that
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: mac Jones was his guy, Like I have my choice
- 1:29:14Speaker 6: of these five guys, mac Jones is the guy, and
- 1:29:16Speaker 6: I don't believe that because I think he would have
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: taken them. That's all. That's all. That's that's the only
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: part of it that I disagree with, not whether or
- 1:29:25Speaker 6: not they felt like he was ready or not.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I could see them, I could see them being.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: I don't think Kyle Shannahan thought he was the best
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: quarterback in the draft and then didn't take him at three.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Well, assuming it was all his decision, him and Lynch
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: worked that way, Okay, But wasn't part of the story
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: that Lynch disagreed. No, No, they all liked mac Jones. No,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: so they didn't like mac Jones.
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: No, Shanahan liked mac Jones. Okay, I don't believe that.
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: That's the part I don't believe.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: You don't believe.
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: I think they were in agreement.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: Okay, oh, okay.
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: I believe that he wanted me.
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: I believe that he liked Mac Jones. I don't know
- 1:30:03Speaker 9: if he liked him at three, But you just look
- 1:30:05Speaker 9: at the quarterbacks that they they've had play there, Jimmy Garoppolo,
- 1:30:08Speaker 9: Brock Purty like Mac Jones, and again brock Percy.
- 1:30:12Speaker 6: I'm say, I don't know what the what the actual
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: truth is. I'm just telling you that's from afar. It
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: makes no sense to me.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I could see ship.
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: I don't know. Maybe that is what happened. Maybe you're
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: exactly right, and Lynch overruled him.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: I don't like.
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: I just don't believe that story.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Craig writes in about Jayden Daniels, if he was twenty
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: five pounds heavier, all things being equal, would your evaluations
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: of him changed?
- 1:30:34Speaker 11: I like.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Daniels has likely always been the skinniest guy in the team.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: Do you think he has learned how to elude hard hits?
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Wayne Gretzky was the weakest, skinniest player one hundred and
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: seventy pounds. Opposing players say he was impossible to hit
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: hard because he was like checking a rope.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Because Daniels had.
- 1:30:50Speaker 6: The greatest super player of all time.
- 1:30:53Speaker 9: We talked about this a little bit on Catch twenty two.
- 1:30:55Speaker 9: But the concerns about Jayden Daniels's frame and like taking
- 1:30:58Speaker 9: big hits, I don't have those, Like I I have
- 1:31:01Speaker 9: concerns about him.
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: As a pass I have a little of those concerns.
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: I don't think Googler this morning, and he maybe have
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: even more concerns.
- 1:31:07Speaker 9: He's he's reckless as a runner. He thinks that he's
- 1:31:10Speaker 9: Josh Allen and he's going to lower his shoulder and
- 1:31:13Speaker 9: run people over. But he'll learn, like I have no doubt.
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: I think Lamar does the better job of that. And
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: Lamar is a lot bigger to me than he is,
- 1:31:21Speaker 6: but helps when you can run like the wind. But
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: Lamar Jackson skips out of bounds a lot now and
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: he didn't used to do that.
- 1:31:27Speaker 9: So if if Jade Daniels is the guy I like,
- 1:31:31Speaker 9: I like to get coached out of them.
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: I mean I like May too, But I mean this
- 1:31:35Speaker 6: is not an anti Daniels thing.
- 1:31:36Speaker 9: No, I like Daniels too.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Ryan and Lincoln Nebraska has some criticism. He says, are
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: you all aware that when you go to eat a
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: couple of goobers? Take over your radio waves and talk
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: about things like prime rip being worse than chicken tenders.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: Thought you should know. I did not know that. I
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: thought we were running. People are actually talking.
- 1:31:55Speaker 9: That was that was they did.
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: I didn't know that they did a because a halftime
- 1:31:59Speaker 8: charge they did do.
- 1:32:00Speaker 7: They hijacked the show, like what do they They did
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: like a cut bench start kind of thing, and they
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: had like three foods.
- 1:32:07Speaker 9: They cut for chicken fingers.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: No, I think I thought. I thought shrimp got cut?
- 1:32:11Speaker 9: Who was it? That's fair?
- 1:32:12Speaker 11: Who was.
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: Chris Chris Casside making his illustrious debut on the halftime?
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: I got intern.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: On a football note, if the unexpected happens when they
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: rolled qbs currently under quarterback or under contract, they should
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: say who best fits what we expect a VP's offense
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: to be, so they stick with what they have. Who's better?
- 1:32:35Speaker 9: Please? I don't know to entertain the question.
- 1:32:37Speaker 7: I know, well, I mean and probably feeds into this
- 1:32:40Speaker 7: latest mac Jones report of the toxic locker room quarterback
- 1:32:44Speaker 7: room that Bailey Zappi.
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: Was watching film reportedly watching film with the receivers.
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: I don't know, is that that old?
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: I guess the Wickersham thing.
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: Essentially something.
- 1:32:56Speaker 8: It was essentially Albert mail bag today.
- 1:32:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's from a Wickersham thing.
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: Oh it's like one of those Albert Bear things right.
- 1:33:04Speaker 6: Well, if in a mail bag. Yeah, he was presenting
- 1:33:10Speaker 6: it as his own story that he was distributed off of,
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: you know, Patriot's MUTI relations amazing.
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: I like this.
- 1:33:16Speaker 9: I love it.
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: He's got to be in his bonnet for the Globe.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. Alex from Mount Holly,
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: I just want to say I echo evans concerns as
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: a young fan. But yes, Paul, I still believe in
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Santa Claus. So I think Gerrod Mayo and this new
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: staff will be built the right fifty three man roster
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: with smart, tough football players. That was sarcasm in case
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Fred Butcher's is delivery. More importantly, I was curious if
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: that map next to Paul has ever been hung in
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: the wall. I've watched the show for a while now
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: and I feel it has a permanent home on the ground.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: I'm coming up on five years here. I have never
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: seen us put a pin in that thing. No, it
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: ended we don't do that anymore.
- 1:33:55Speaker 11: Eric.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: It's the opposite because Dean the no we someone would come,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: someone would call the show from a country, you know,
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: a new country, and then I'd have Paul Eric. I mean,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: I'd have Eric put the pin in the show with
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: ground to a hat because he didn't know where the
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: country was. And yet he claims to be this you
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: know bon vivant, you know, international traveler, and he doesn't
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: know where Romania is.
- 1:34:20Speaker 9: Every time you guys talk about Eric, I'm like that
- 1:34:22Speaker 9: guy sting nod.
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: Somebody had to you guys the map to answer the question.
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: The map was on the wall before you put all
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: the like the soundproofing and stuff. Yeah, studio is going
- 1:34:37Speaker 6: to get a makeover soon too.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Yeah, we're working on that finally. As someone who was
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: born and raised in North Carolina, and I think I
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: think they hate for Drake May comes from a lot
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: of people having hatred for UNC and compare him to
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: the type of guys like Daniel Jones and Mitch Trubisky
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: coming out of college when none of the locals felt
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: either of those guys played well in college. I've seen
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: this stuff happen several times times, So I don't know.
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: He's a good player. I think if Drake May is
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: there at three put the card in.
- 1:35:07Speaker 6: Yeah, what about Daniels.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna say any of the I'm just
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: about there with him.
- 1:35:13Speaker 6: Too, but me too, I think the guy yells at
- 1:35:16Speaker 6: me all the time.
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: I think is Yeah, it's so.
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: If you want the electric playmaker, that's Jayden Daniels. If
- 1:35:24Speaker 9: you want the more traditional but still has some of
- 1:35:27Speaker 9: the new stuff of mobility.
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: Homes, it's May Josh Allen.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: That's what they'll no.
- 1:35:35Speaker 9: It really is, I mean, it really is.
- 1:35:37Speaker 6: That's what you have to hope something like that.
- 1:35:39Speaker 7: I just think you're kind of victim to your circumstances
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: of what we kind of experienced the last couple years
- 1:35:43Speaker 7: at the quarterback position here. And there's just, you know,
- 1:35:45Speaker 7: something intriguing about Jayden and Daniels having crazy athleticism. I
- 1:35:48Speaker 7: don't know how exactly it would translate, but I know
- 1:35:50Speaker 7: that he's always going to be a super athlete, so
- 1:35:53Speaker 7: I'm at least willing to watch how that goes. We
- 1:35:55Speaker 7: kind of watched the high floor guy for a while.
- 1:35:57Speaker 6: You think he's always going to be that, huh, Well,
- 1:35:59Speaker 6: I mean until he gets to year ten. And I'm
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: with you, but it's amazing how many emails. We get
- 1:36:03Speaker 6: now that style doesn't hold up, you know, like they're
- 1:36:06Speaker 6: waiting for Lamar Jackson to fall apart. Still, yeah, like
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: that like that already his And I just look at
- 1:36:12Speaker 6: the Mahomes. Mahomes won't be able to.
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: Just I just watched Mahomes where like it's not like
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: Mahomes has to run the ball for their offense to work.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: It's just he waits till the right spots and then
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: all of a sudden they run.
- 1:36:28Speaker 9: You know him, you know, he just keeps it and
- 1:36:30Speaker 9: goes and gets what he needs to do.
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: You know what. That's that's what's appealing to me.
- 1:36:33Speaker 7: And I think, you know, with Daniels, it's the potential
- 1:36:35Speaker 7: of like explosive plays off those It's not just Mahomes
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: weaving like he does, you know, to get the first downs.
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: It's like, no, if this guy is able to go,
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: he might take it to the house.
- 1:36:44Speaker 11: You know.
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: That's there's something incredibly intriguing about actually playing eleven on eleven,
- 1:36:49Speaker 9: where like the quarterback's legs are something that the opponent
- 1:36:52Speaker 9: has to game plan every single week, like we you're
- 1:36:55Speaker 9: gonna come into every game and whether it's design, run, scramble, whatever.
- 1:36:59Speaker 9: Jayden Daniels can take off and run forty yards at
- 1:37:01Speaker 9: any point in time, and that's something that'd be fun.
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: We've never really had that, Michael Bishop.
- 1:37:07Speaker 21: We've never really had because they got by the time.
- 1:37:10Speaker 21: We've never really had that by the time they got Cam. Okay,
- 1:37:14Speaker 21: we did have it once. No, sorry, put the neck
- 1:37:19Speaker 21: roll on.
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: Fourteen rushing touchdowns one.
- 1:37:22Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, but like Jaden has a different Oh, of course,
- 1:37:25Speaker 9: this is that we're talking about evolution now.
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: Falling apart on them.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: Sean's and Vancouver. What's up, Sean, Sean, Hey, Sean.
- 1:37:36Speaker 22: Yeah, sorry about that. Yeah, everyone, you know, in terms
- 1:37:39Speaker 22: of the complaint, you know, about the lack of details,
- 1:37:44Speaker 22: in terms of what type of offensive philosophy is going on.
- 1:37:48Speaker 22: I'm with Mike in your hopes that, you know, maybe
- 1:37:51Speaker 22: it's about these players and let's see who they're gonna
- 1:37:55Speaker 22: they're going to bring in because and then let's set
- 1:37:58Speaker 22: this pop because I don't want them to be you know, Okay,
- 1:38:01Speaker 22: we're set in the Cleveland type of offense. We've got
- 1:38:03Speaker 22: to find our inn a joker player. We've got to
- 1:38:05Speaker 22: find our Nick Harris. You know, we've got to find
- 1:38:08Speaker 22: these specific type of guys, and that's what we're gonna run.
- 1:38:11Speaker 22: I'd rather see. Okay, these are the players who we get.
- 1:38:14Speaker 22: We don't know who we're gonna get with the third
- 1:38:16Speaker 22: pick is if it's going to be May, then yeah,
- 1:38:19Speaker 22: maybe we can build around that. But if it's Daniels, Okay,
- 1:38:22Speaker 22: let's let's try and build the system around that. Because
- 1:38:25Speaker 22: he's not going to fit into that Cleveland system that
- 1:38:28Speaker 22: we were running before.
- 1:38:29Speaker 6: So then what are you going to do? Like just
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: out of curiosity?
- 1:38:32Speaker 9: Is so like why I don't agree with this point?
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: Yeah, if if Daniels can't run a system that your
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: offensive coordinator wants to run, well, then what do you
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: do with your offensive system?
- 1:38:42Speaker 22: You're going to alter it and put in the plays
- 1:38:45Speaker 22: that he can run.
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: You're gonna but what if what if?
- 1:38:48Speaker 6: What if Van Pelt isn't comfortable with that?
- 1:38:51Speaker 22: Well, that's what I'm hoping he is. I'm hoping that
- 1:38:53Speaker 22: he can adapt to.
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: Now, I now I agree with you, Sean, and I'm
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: playing a little devil's advocate, but I think I think
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: Evans point is you you kind of pigeonholed if you
- 1:39:05Speaker 6: do it that way, and just would kind of like
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: to have an idea of the kinds of guys that
- 1:39:09Speaker 6: you're not specific players, but the style of player that
- 1:39:14Speaker 6: you're sort of interested in to see you know, what
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: would fit best. I don't think that you could just
- 1:39:18Speaker 6: plug any quarterback into any system. But yeah, if you
- 1:39:23Speaker 6: get Jayden Daniels, you're not going to ask him to
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: just play like Tom Brady and stand in the pocket
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: all day. You have had to sort of do you
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: had to go forbid. I just I look at I
- 1:39:35Speaker 6: look at it that that was worse than my if
- 1:39:37Speaker 6: you got to the goal line comment.
- 1:39:38Speaker 9: I look at it differently, honestly, because I think that
- 1:39:41Speaker 9: they have they have a blank canvas. They don't have
- 1:39:44Speaker 9: any players that you have. We need to build around
- 1:39:46Speaker 9: this guy on our team because they don't have any
- 1:39:48Speaker 9: good enough players. So if you have this blank canvas,
- 1:39:51Speaker 9: I would much rather Alex van pell and Elliott Wolf
- 1:39:54Speaker 9: and mac Ro to sit down and say, a VP,
- 1:39:57Speaker 9: what how do you want to play? Who are the
- 1:39:59Speaker 9: types of players that you want? What does an Alex
- 1:40:01Speaker 9: van pel X receiver do? Like, what is his rout tree?
- 1:40:05Speaker 9: What are his sweet spots in the offense? What are
- 1:40:07Speaker 9: what are you gonna do with this player? And then
- 1:40:10Speaker 9: have the scouting staff sit there and say, here are
- 1:40:13Speaker 9: the ten guys that we think do it right, and
- 1:40:15Speaker 9: then draft one of those ten guys. If you start
- 1:40:18Speaker 9: to look, if you think Jayden Daniels is so talented
- 1:40:21Speaker 9: that you just it won't matter, he'll transcend, then fine.
- 1:40:26Speaker 9: But if you feel that he's not that good, then
- 1:40:29Speaker 9: I worry about trying to take a player that isn't
- 1:40:32Speaker 9: a transcendent talent, and now we're putting him in an
- 1:40:34Speaker 9: offense he doesn't belong in, and we're asking a coordinator
- 1:40:37Speaker 9: to coach an offense he's not familiar with coaching. I
- 1:40:40Speaker 9: would much rather take Michael Pennix and because we think
- 1:40:44Speaker 9: he fits what we want to do than to try
- 1:40:47Speaker 9: to pigeonhole somebody into something that they're not.
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: And for the individual players other than quarterback, it's not
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: like Amari Cooper or David Najoku have this individual skill
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: set that's impossible to find right good players now they're
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: high caliber players, but you can get guys that can
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: play the X by get like Evan said, or you know,
- 1:41:08Speaker 6: work and tight end and be athletic enough to block
- 1:41:12Speaker 6: in runn You can find that to fit a system
- 1:41:16Speaker 6: like you don't have to like be stuck in a
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: system because you can't get those players that play in
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: that system. There's a lot of players that play in
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: systems like that. Now the quarterback is different, like quarterbacks
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: have different skill sets.
- 1:41:32Speaker 9: I would just I understand that it sounds great in
- 1:41:34Speaker 9: theory that the offensive coordinator would be able to be fluid,
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: that he could just check.
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: But that's not how it is.
- 1:41:42Speaker 9: It's usually not how it is unless you have a
- 1:41:44Speaker 9: really really good coach.
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: I feel like I got a really good bead right
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: now on what you would want to hear. Can we
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: can we roll play this a little bit like.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Very Actors Workshop, a little bit.
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: Hollywood. I'm sure, man, okay, And and see Evan please.
- 1:42:05Speaker 9: How did how did the New England Patriots play football
- 1:42:08Speaker 9: under Dorod Mail?
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: Oh? Well, I appreciate the question, Evan. You know, obviously,
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: I think, you know, I'm pretty happy with you know,
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: what our defense has done over the last couple of years.
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: But you know, I just I think as the team
- 1:42:17Speaker 4: comes together, we just offensively the game has evolved, you know,
- 1:42:19Speaker 4: we have to find.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: A way to just be better on more explosive.
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: I don't know what that's exactly gonna look like right now, Evan,
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: because you know, we're still putting the team together. And
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: but my hope is that we can build an offense
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: that's gonna take us to the next level. That's what
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: needs to be done here. And I'm not sure exactly
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: how it's gonna come about, but that's how we're gonna
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: put it. And he told you nothing.
- 1:42:37Speaker 9: See how that's my point.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: You don't have to say any that's gonna make you
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: feel better. You're a fraud, a fraud.
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: I'm a fraud.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: All you want is a bottle, have a baby that
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: wants a bottle, a pascifier.
- 1:42:50Speaker 4: I don't want to hear about.
- 1:42:53Speaker 9: At least he talked about football. At least.
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: Been talking about a power.
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: He said that he was gonna get an explosive offense
- 1:43:01Speaker 9: that hunts for big player.
- 1:43:03Speaker 6: I disagreed that he said nothing. Whatever he said, he
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: talked about the need to get more explosive, more modern.
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: More explosive.
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: These are these are vision No no team wants that.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Every team wants that we want, we want, we want.
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: The previous regime was not.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: Interested in that.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: Now, let's go to the actor. What was your goal there?
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: O My goal was just to you know, limit evans
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: concerns and just to let him know that we have
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: a plan and that you know, we understand that offensively
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: been good enough. I don't ask for much, all right,
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: I'm not asking he told you nothing.
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: I'm not asking for the you know you to come
- 1:43:37Speaker 9: out with the presentation about what exactly you're going to
- 1:43:40Speaker 9: do this offseason and who you're gonna draft and who
- 1:43:42Speaker 9: you're gonna sign.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: I'm not asking for mine.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: I guarantee.
- 1:43:45Speaker 9: Don't sound like a CEO from optim sound like a
- 1:43:47Speaker 9: head contract guarantee.
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: I guarantee.
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: I guarantee once Gerard does his first you know, real
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: press conference or at least gets to sit with us,
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: he will say that and more.
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: I hope, so Ford, please, we gotta get a down
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: with him on the board, and then Evan will be like,
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: it's all good, that's fun, that's good.
- 1:44:06Speaker 8: Was that a little at the beginning, a little y
- 1:44:09Speaker 8: homage to Stephanie. It was awesome.
- 1:44:16Speaker 9: The next question would be Evan, I don't like silos.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: Now what's up?
- 1:44:21Speaker 11: Brent?
- 1:44:23Speaker 15: Hey, guys, come, I'm not sure how to order this is,
- 1:44:26Speaker 15: but can you guys run down really quick on the offensive?
- 1:44:30Speaker 15: Side of the ball, which of these guys you'd keep
- 1:44:33Speaker 15: and which ones you'd like to see go? And then
- 1:44:36Speaker 15: I'd like to see I'd like to see I'd like
- 1:44:38Speaker 15: to see Evans mock draft as well, other than Drake
- 1:44:41Speaker 15: May and I'll take him off one.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: Well, they're not going to tell us the guys, the
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: guys who are the guys, the whole offense.
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: The whole guys like free agents or people that are
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: still there. You left us hanging there.
- 1:44:55Speaker 6: And Stevenson, I'll pem' k.
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: David Andrews.
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: David Andrews.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: I know you've fallen off the day when you trained,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: but there was a time where everybody in this room
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: is like, you got to keep big Mic.
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: I'm not on that train.
- 1:45:12Speaker 9: No, okay, I'm a big Mic guy still, all right,
- 1:45:15Speaker 9: I don't think you absolutely.
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: I won't be upset if they keep them, but I'm
- 1:45:18Speaker 6: not on the pop Douglas. I'll take Tomorrio, Yeah, okay.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne born again, I'll come back player of the year.
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: Can upgrade upgrade them, upgrading free agency, go get somebody
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: better than him.
- 1:45:31Speaker 7: Well you can still, I mean, yeah, but you don't
- 1:45:33Speaker 7: need a log jam with dudes, you know, like, well,
- 1:45:35Speaker 7: I don't.
- 1:45:36Speaker 6: Want all those guys back.
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: Well what about just those two pop Douglas and Kentrick Bourne.
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: So now what are you doing with Devonte Parker and
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: Juju Smith Schuster? Okay, so how are you gonna get
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: someone to replace them?
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: You're gonna draft and you're gonna get through free agency.
- 1:45:50Speaker 6: How do you guys feel that a lot of money
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: you're wasting on the cap that you think is irrelevant.
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: Well, we're building a new culture here, Paul. We're not
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: going to be exploded.
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: We have money to burn.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: Which is the funny. He said that I would I
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: would upgrade that Born spot this year.
- 1:46:04Speaker 7: I you know, I'm said a hundred times I'm resigned
- 1:46:07Speaker 7: to Parker outside at I mean, assuming that Van Pelt.
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: Even plays that way?
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: Because do you keep Hunter Henry?
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: I do for me. That's he's a priority.
- 1:46:14Speaker 6: You're just running back the same offense.
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: No, I mean, I just there's.
- 1:46:20Speaker 9: There are some options in free agency end like Dalton Schultz.
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:46:26Speaker 9: I like Gerald Everett.
- 1:46:27Speaker 6: I love Gerald Everett.
- 1:46:29Speaker 9: He's not he's never really produced down the field. Like
- 1:46:31Speaker 9: it's it's all those like scheme touches. Around the line
- 1:46:34Speaker 9: of scrimmage. But that's this offense, Like if you're going
- 1:46:36Speaker 9: to be running a lot of bootlegs and stuff.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: Like that.
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: Forever, I'd like I take him. Jay'son defense intelligence, Thank
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: you for your service. What are your thoughts on the
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Patriots trading for fields and then picking up needed help
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: throughout the draft and free agency?
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: I mean I wouldn't I wouldn't hate it, but I
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: don't really want it, you know.
- 1:46:56Speaker 7: I just I'd rather start with someone new and somebody
- 1:46:58Speaker 7: who doesn't already kind of have a bad give you know, good,
- 1:47:01Speaker 7: I mean some good things, certainly.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: I mean we saw him here used to maximum the fact.
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: I mean, if you could get Justin Field's twenty twenty
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: two against the Patriots.
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: Yeah, that poor game, just like remember when he did
- 1:47:13Speaker 9: that to us?
- 1:47:13Speaker 12: Oh my god?
- 1:47:14Speaker 7: Well and it was funny because I mean that game
- 1:47:15Speaker 7: sticks out to me so clearly, because I remember talking
- 1:47:17Speaker 7: during the week and literally saying, why don't they run him?
- 1:47:21Speaker 7: Why don't they use him like the Ravens use Lamar?
- 1:47:24Speaker 7: And then all of a sudden surprise they did, and
- 1:47:26Speaker 7: it was great. And I don't know, you know, what
- 1:47:29Speaker 7: what went wrong from there? And why they couldn't stack
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: that and build off of that and to build that guy.
- 1:47:33Speaker 9: The Bears and Justin Fields are exactly. My concern with
- 1:47:36Speaker 9: the Patriots and Jayden Daniels is that if you don't
- 1:47:39Speaker 9: know how to use a guy like that, then you're
- 1:47:42Speaker 9: you're taking away his superpower.
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: Sure, and it wastes right.
- 1:47:46Speaker 9: And if you can't play to that strain, then he's
- 1:47:49Speaker 9: not good enough at the other things to make up
- 1:47:51Speaker 9: for it.
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: Do you know, would you know how to use him?
- 1:47:54Speaker 5: Of course he does.
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: It's just like.
- 1:47:59Speaker 6: No, I will say this, Okay, So go back to Baltimore.
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: When Lamar got there, it was a great fit, even
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: though I don't like this guy as an offensive coordinator,
- 1:48:10Speaker 6: to have Greg Roman who had experience doing that with
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: San Francisco and Kaepernick, and they brought him in and
- 1:48:17Speaker 6: that was perfect for Lamar Jackson. Now I think he
- 1:48:20Speaker 6: outgrew Greg Roman because Greg Roman's not really interested in
- 1:48:23Speaker 6: trying to throw the ball in any kind of a
- 1:48:25Speaker 6: sophisticated manner. They had, by all accounts, some of the
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: most simplistic passing concepts that you can't win with in
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: the NFL, and that's why they made the change and
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: their offense went to a different level, you know this
- 1:48:37Speaker 6: year with Monken. So to your point, there are different
- 1:48:42Speaker 6: guys that are better suited to use that kind of guy.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: I think Fields was a lot better this year in
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: the games than he played than he was after that
- 1:48:50Speaker 6: Patriots game last year.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true, Calvin says. My fear with picking the
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: quarterback is don't you think all the teams that passed
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: on potential higher ceiling eyes like Lamar or Mahomes believe
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: they didn't want them because their choices were better scheme fits.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: I think the talent upside high ceiling is more important.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Take a shot, go for Daniels, and I hope the
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: presence of McAdoo talks an a VP out of best
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: fit over transcending talent or upside.
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: Well, I like the theory.
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't know necessarily if it's true
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: with the individuals that we're talking about, but I do
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: like the take a swing if you think a guy
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: has a higher ceiling a higher upside.
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: I like that theory. I agree to. That's why there's
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: not really any of those guys like I feel like
- 1:49:33Speaker 4: later in the draft. I think people aremating skilled five guys.
- 1:49:37Speaker 4: It's it's it's it.
- 1:49:39Speaker 9: Shocks me Paul that Drake May isn't more universally liked
- 1:49:43Speaker 9: because he the skills that he has are the modern quarterback.
- 1:49:50Speaker 9: He's six ' five with a huge arm, with great
- 1:49:53Speaker 9: running skills, with some of that offscript magic like he's
- 1:49:57Speaker 9: he's basically Josh Allen.
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: I think people are so spooped by Trubisky with him, and.
- 1:50:02Speaker 9: People want it, don't see don't see it that way
- 1:50:05Speaker 9: they see Daniel Jones or Trubisky or something like that.
- 1:50:08Speaker 9: I thought that Jaden Daniels would be the lightning rod
- 1:50:11Speaker 9: of this draft. I thought that he was going to
- 1:50:12Speaker 9: be the one and everybody was going to say, is
- 1:50:14Speaker 9: justin fields you can only run? You know that has
- 1:50:17Speaker 9: done not good enough as a passer, And instead it
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: really seems like Drake May is the one that's the
- 1:50:22Speaker 9: unpopular pick.
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: Uh Trent writes in I don't understand that Justin feels interest.
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: He's always proved, he's already proven, he's not a franchise quarterback.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: Why not take a shot on a guy who hasn't
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: failed in the league yet. Even if you don't love
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: a quarterback at the third spot, Trade back. Draft a
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: quarterback in the second or third round with potential and
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: see if you can develop him. And Paul, it's not
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: only that Caleb Williams cried, is that he cried, paints
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: his nails, has a weird relationship with both his parents,
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: and none of his teammates went to his birthday.
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: There I love when I love when none of his
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: teammates went to his party. Line comes out for any quarterback.
- 1:50:55Speaker 6: Like again, all that stuff is worthy of except for
- 1:50:59Speaker 6: the birthday. All that stuff is worthy of being on
- 1:51:01Speaker 6: the evaluation. Absolutely. I just want someone to tell me
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: why they don't like him as a football player. Tuesdays,
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: I am with Dane Brugla. I think he's the best
- 1:51:11Speaker 6: football player in the draft.
- 1:51:12Speaker 9: Me too.
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: Tuesday, Evan was saying he likes how millennials are the
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: target demo for Super Bowl halftime shows nowadays, because growing
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: up he didn't know and had to ask his dad
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: who the performers were. Who didn't you know, Evan? You too,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Springsteen. I would say, stick to football,
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: But your football takes are just as bad as your music,
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: Oh Spider, like that see this show? Go shine your
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: shoes your catch twenty two people.
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: You know these go home and.
- 1:51:44Speaker 9: True statement In two thousand and one, I was actually
- 1:51:46Speaker 9: at the Super Bowl Super Bowl thirty six with my
- 1:51:48Speaker 9: dad and did ask him who Paul McCartney was. I
- 1:51:51Speaker 9: was eight, so you know that I was very up.
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: So you know about the Beatles, right, I do?
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: Now it's Audrey says, I'm totally with Evan that the
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: corporate speak is so meaningless and certainly doesn't instill any confidence.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: But it's only February, and please, two words I never
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: want to hear again. Collaboration and de facto.
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: De facto.
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: Well, I don't mind a de facto, but the collaboration
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: I've had enough of.
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: You know what I hate more than collaboration, collab?
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: Collab.
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: We're gonna collab collab with them. That's another one that's
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: not not so much for the football team.
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: That's more just likes don't generally work.
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: We're gonna do a collab with them.
- 1:52:28Speaker 9: I don't think this as much of it.
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: Let's go to Todd in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:52:34Speaker 11: Hey, guys, I was gonna call in and rattle Evan's cage,
- 1:52:39Speaker 11: but somebody already did that. I was just thinking that,
- 1:52:41Speaker 11: you know, Evan, you're a little spoiled. You've been so
- 1:52:44Speaker 11: lucky with the team that you've gotten all the good stuff.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: You haven't had to live.
- 1:52:47Speaker 11: Through some of that older stuff. And trust me, you
- 1:52:50Speaker 11: mean when you cheer for the team in the seventies
- 1:52:52Speaker 11: and the eighties, there was spots you could cheer, but
- 1:52:54Speaker 11: there were times when you're like, oh, dear.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Lord, and you just we're going through that now.
- 1:53:01Speaker 14: Well that's what we're going to go through.
- 1:53:02Speaker 11: And I think that this is the way teams go.
- 1:53:04Speaker 11: They cycle, and I you know, I kind of like
- 1:53:07Speaker 11: the fact that Crap likes whom he's got as a coach,
- 1:53:09Speaker 11: and I'm kind of hoping that they work together and
- 1:53:12Speaker 11: they surrounded themselves. And I'm glad that Wolfson and I'm
- 1:53:14Speaker 11: glad that there's people there that will give some guidance
- 1:53:17Speaker 11: and kind of find a direction. I think that's what
- 1:53:19Speaker 11: we got to wait for. And I know Evans, one
- 1:53:21Speaker 11: of these guys has got no patience. He wants to
- 1:53:23Speaker 11: see everything now and know what's going on because he's
- 1:53:26Speaker 11: young and there's nothing.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: Wrong, because he's a generation millennium.
- 1:53:32Speaker 11: You know, that's what happens.
- 1:53:33Speaker 9: They haven't won a playoff game five, how it.
- 1:53:35Speaker 11: Comes out, and you know, be pleasantly surprised if you
- 1:53:39Speaker 11: can be.
- 1:53:39Speaker 9: I'm not allowed to be to want them to be
- 1:53:42Speaker 9: good again, all right now the straight but you're.
- 1:53:46Speaker 11: Not allowed to want them to be yeah, amazing in
- 1:53:49Speaker 11: their first.
- 1:53:52Speaker 6: The problem is we have to do a show every day.
- 1:53:55Speaker 6: You know, it's like the Felgrim mass thing, like you
- 1:53:58Speaker 6: got to do a show, like we can't wait to
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: see what happen happens? What will you need us for?
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: Well?
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: Like I can just tell you what happened. I don't
- 1:54:05Speaker 6: know if you know this, Alex, but the Chiefs won
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: the Super Bowl?
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Did you know that?
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: Picked that happened?
- 1:54:11Speaker 9: She watched the game?
- 1:54:12Speaker 11: Like, Yeah.
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: The problem was we had to sort of talk about
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: what we think the Patriots are doing, and before we
- 1:54:20Speaker 6: do it, we have to talk about it and sort
- 1:54:22Speaker 6: of give our thoughts and opinions on what they what
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: we think they're doing.
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: And overreacting and overreactings and overreacting is a huge part.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Of that, Johnny and matdtown says Fred, you should do
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: off season picks with other sports or maybe even stupid
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: award shows like the Oscars. Low Steakes just for fun.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: Could be a dumb idea, but I miss hearing. We
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: got a hurry on Thursdays and Alex, you have your
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: hair look great, keeping awesome. And I've been to Chapel
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: Hill once. Do I qualify to have an opinion on
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: Drake May on this show?
- 1:54:53Speaker 6: Yes? So now I'm going to come back in two
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: weeks because I am going to spend some time in
- 1:54:57Speaker 6: Chapel Hill and I'm just going.
- 1:54:58Speaker 9: To They were right, you know you should bust out
- 1:55:01Speaker 9: your little pole.
- 1:55:02Speaker 6: I'm sorry, leave my little poll alone.
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: A little pole down there? What they think are on
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: the campus?
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: May?
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: Yeah, your name portable pole? Did you see Paul's little
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: pole when he had a fact?
- 1:55:14Speaker 6: Anybody will like it? South Carolina, I'm going there too,
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: Ryan Atlanta.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: We'll end with this email. I don't know why these
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: North Carolina people are so down on Drake May. I
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: saw him live versus Georgia Tech, which by my standards
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: makes me an expert in all things Drake May, and
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: I was very impressed with him. He was athletic, ran Well,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: had great accuracy on the field, very active with his
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: teammates on the sideline. In terms of motivating making adjustments
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: and talking with coaches. Also in terms of clutch factor,
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: he was leading a game winning drive until Tess Walker
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: fumbled on the Georgia Tech twenty five yard line.
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: Yeah, he doesn't have it.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: I would be thrilled to get him at number three.
- 1:55:50Speaker 9: I've seen it since high school and these stinks.
- 1:55:52Speaker 6: Yeah he did. That's Jayden Daniels is coming off a
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: great year, whereas Williams and May are coming off Compared
- 1:56:01Speaker 6: to the previous year, it was role reversal. It was
- 1:56:04Speaker 6: Daniels was okay, then great, and Williams and May were
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: great and then okay. So I don't know if you
- 1:56:12Speaker 6: think that's a trend. I don't know. What do you think, Freddy,
- 1:56:16Speaker 6: I have no idea.
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: All I know is that that's it for this edition
