- 0:00OK, everybody, we're going to get right to it.
- 0:03Breaking news in the garage area right now.
- 0:06Now NASCAR and their attorneys on this Thursday morning are
- 0:11having an emergency meeting. So that means later today I
- 0:15could be doing a Kenny Wallace show.
- 0:19Kenny Wallace show means, hey, something's going on.
- 0:21We got a report. Breaking news in the garage area
- 0:26on this Thursday morning. NASCAR attorneys are meaning
- 0:32could they be settling? Could they be settling?
- 0:37But Judge Bell told the jury, three men and three women that,
- 0:43hey, look, I think I can save you some time here.
- 0:46We need an hour. And Judge Bell told the NASCAR
- 0:52attorneys and Michael Jordan, Front Row's attorneys, if you
- 0:57need a different level to meet, I will allow you to do that.
- 1:02So could they be settling? I think NASCAR knows it's not
- 1:07looking good for them. So respond right here,
- 1:10everybody. Now back to your regular
- 1:13scheduled program. If they are settling.
- 1:17I have some letters that came out late last night, and I think
- 1:22they could be settling because the owner of bass pro shops,
- 1:27Johnny Morris, wrote a scolding letter to NASCAR.
- 1:33I think that's what my headlines are going to be. bass pro shops
- 1:37scolds NASCAR. Now, listen, I'm going to
- 1:40paraphrase this, but once this gets on YouTube, my Charlie
- 1:46Marlow is going to drop that letter in that, you know, out of
- 1:50Springfield, MO. Yes.
- 1:52Johnny Morris, the owner of bass pro shops, he starts this letter
- 1:56out saying that he grew up watching the Wallace Brothers.
- 2:02Thank you, Johnny. And he grew up watching the Mark
- 2:06Martin. He grew up watching Willie
- 2:10Crane, some of the local heroes in our area.
- 2:13And yeah, did you know that Bass Pro was from basically my
- 2:17hometown? I grew up in Rolla, MO, and I
- 2:20later moved to Saint Louis. But Johnny Morris says that I
- 2:24watched Mark Martin, the Wallace brothers, all trying to beat our
- 2:28local hero, Larry Phillips. So this letter starts out, you
- 2:33know how long he's been a race fan.
- 2:36So Johnny Morris that owns Bass Pro Shops, he's a racer, but he
- 2:41likes hunting, just like Dale Earnhardt Senior and of course
- 2:46Johnny Morris's good friend Richard Childress.
- 2:49Now you know where this letter is going.
- 2:52Johnny Morris basically scolds the NASCAR mercifully.
- 2:58And at the end of the letter, he said this would be like a new
- 3:02commissioner coming into NASCAR in baseball.
- 3:14Let me try this again. Johnny Morris compared Steve
- 3:18Phelps, who was the president of NASCAR 6-8 months ago.
- 3:23He specifically called Steve Phelps out.
- 3:26He says Steve Phelps showed Richard Childers 0 respect.
- 3:32And then he then he goes on at the end of the letter and he
- 3:35says it's like a new commissioner coming into
- 3:38baseball and showing Babe Ruth all the great baseball players
- 3:43no respect. And he says, I'm sure that new
- 3:47commissioner would not last long.
- 3:50So I'm going to say it. Steve Phelps is well, I'm not
- 3:57going to say it like that. Let me try it again.
- 4:00I believe the owner of Bass Pro Shops, Johnny Morris, is asking
- 4:03for Steve Phelps to be fired by NASCAR because in the at the end
- 4:08of the letter, he said if a commissioner in baseball were to
- 4:11act like Steve Phelps is, it wouldn't be long and he would be
- 4:16gone. And in this letter, he says how
- 4:21dare NASCAR show so much disrespect for the great Richard
- 4:26Childress. Richard Childress is the second.
- 4:30So right now, you know, you, you look at guys like Bud Moore is,
- 4:34is gone. You know, Junior Johnson is
- 4:37gone. Richard Petty really doesn't
- 4:40have a race team anymore. He's hanging out with a legacy.
- 4:45But the oldest running team right now is The Wood Brothers
- 4:49and The Wood Brothers. Everybody knows we give them a
- 4:51break. We love The Wood Brothers, but
- 4:53The Wood Brothers, their race cars are prepared out of the
- 4:57Penske Racing shop. So basically Richard Childress
- 5:01is the longest running team there is.
- 5:03And, and Johnny Morris goes on in this letter, and boy, he is
- 5:07pissed in a nice way. And he's basically asking
- 5:12NASCAR, hey, you know, our partners all across the world,
- 5:16we love NASCAR, and we're hoping we're cheering you on to do the
- 5:19right thing. But it's very clear that Johnny
- 5:22Morse does not like Steve Phelps and wants his ass gone now that
- 5:30that request comes at the very end of the letter.
- 5:32So when Charlie drops it in here, go ahead and read that
- 5:35part. OK, Sip of coffee.
- 5:42These letters just keep on rolling.
- 5:44Now the great Rodger Penske. So all these letters keep coming
- 5:49out. Remember I, I know I've said it
- 5:51all the time, I repeat it, but remember Judge Bell, you better
- 5:55figure this out yourself because you're burning the house down.
- 5:59So now I know why, and I'm going to say it.
- 6:03Every single NASCAR car owner does not like where NASCAR is
- 6:09headed. And when we knew This is why
- 6:12Tony Stewart left the sport, we all know that.
- 6:17But there's been a lot of teams that have got out of the sport
- 6:20because they can't afford it. So Rodger Penske writes Jim
- 6:25France, the owner of NASCAR, a letter and says, Jim, you know,
- 6:29same thing as Rick Hendrick. You know, Rick Hendrick writes
- 6:32the scathing letter. And now these are scolding
- 6:36letters. Rodger Penske scolds one of his
- 6:40dear friends. The owner of NASCAR, Jim Franz
- 6:42says, Jim, love you like a brother.
- 6:45But even if it here, I'm going to put it in redneck terms.
- 6:49Rodger says even if I was to act poor, Jim, even if I was to cut
- 6:53back as much as I could cut back, this is not sustainable.
- 6:58We, you, we can't afford this. And Rodger says you are not
- 7:02giving us enough of the pie. Now, Rodger Penske is a great
- 7:06business owner and I'm going to leave you with this.
- 7:10Rodger Penske says. Jim, may I suggest an Evergreen
- 7:14program? And I've always thought about
- 7:16this and you hear the word Evergreen all the time.
- 7:19Basically, Evergreen means, hey, when NASCAR does good, we all do
- 7:24good, we get more money. When NASCAR does bad, we all do
- 7:28bad, we get less money. And what that pertains to is Jim
- 7:33France testified that the reason I don't want permanent charters
- 7:37is because I can't see that far out.
- 7:40Well, Rodger Penske, one of the smartest men in America, he's a
- 7:43gem. None of us can see that far out.
- 7:46That's why I suggest Evergreen. Evergreen meaning, hey, you, you
- 7:50signed A7 year TV contract. You know, we got permanent
- 7:54charters for seven years, but keep them permanent.
- 7:57And if you sign a less TV deal, then we'll all receive less
- 8:02money. It's it really is high school
- 8:08stuff. But Jim France, you know, bless
- 8:11his heart, he's scared to death. And I understand that.
- 8:15So these are big boy. Hey, listen, I'm going to end
- 8:17like this, OK? I know I've said it ended like
- 8:19this a couple times, but let's end like this.
- 8:22I remember that one person that said, boy Wallace, you really
- 8:25done yourself in. You said NASCAR should sell.
- 8:31There's nobody that has done themselves in.
- 8:33When everybody gets to the Daytona 500, everybody's in
- 8:38trouble. We've learned that NASCAR hates
- 8:41everybody. Rodger, they hate Rodger.
- 8:44Penske they hate Rick Hendrick. And Rick, stop and think about
- 8:48this way. Rick Hendrick is the one that
- 8:50went to Europe with the Garage 56 project with Jim France.
- 8:55So they're all asshole buddies, but boy, they chew each other's
- 8:59ass out big time. And that, my friends, is big boy
- 9:03business. But they mother fuck each other
- 9:06up and down. And it's, it's like New York is
- 9:09like being in the middle of New York.
- 9:11Fuck you, fuck you. They're just so ain't nobody in
- 9:14trouble. So when we go to Daytona, it's
- 9:18more like the car owners versus NASCAR.
- 9:22Not that all we're doing is reporting on what's going on.
- 9:26And I don't report, I give commentary.
- 9:30All right, everybody could be a chance that later today there
- 9:34could be breaking news later today.
- 9:35So stay tuned to the Kenny Wallace YouTube channels and
- 9:40social media on this Thursday. Is NASCAR going to settle?
- 9:46This is pretty rare where there's a big break in action.
- 9:51All right, have a have a great Thursday and might might be
- 9:53talking to y'all later. I hope so.
- 9:55I hope this all gets settled and we head to Daytona with a lot of
- 9:59love.
