- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balance Life Chiropractic. We're with doctor Harley. Hey you know doctor.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Harley, Hey John, I'm doing great, another wonderful week.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're going to talk about something that we
- 0:09Speaker 1: haven't talked about in a while. But dizziness and vertigo
- 0:11Speaker 1: and those things sometimes go hand in hand.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Don't they, right?
- 0:14Speaker 3: You know, you a lot of times you start with
- 0:16Speaker 3: getting dizzy and maybe it's happening more often or the
- 0:21Speaker 3: you know, the bouts of dizzeyiness are longer, so you
- 0:24Speaker 3: go to your doctor and they run a couple of
- 0:26Speaker 3: tests and maybe you get diagnosed with vertigo. So that's
- 0:28Speaker 3: kind of like the official diagnosis for like long term
- 0:31Speaker 3: you know, episodes and bouts of that kind of.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Dizziness, and then you might be thinking, well, how do
- 0:36Speaker 2: I treat this? What am I supposed to do?
- 0:38Speaker 3: You know, there's definitely medications that you can take, but
- 0:41Speaker 3: chiropractic has actually been known to help treat dizziness and.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Vertigo, and I suppose a lot of that depends on
- 0:47Speaker 1: what's causing the issue. And if there's you know, certain
- 0:50Speaker 1: things that are causing it, you can snap this back
- 0:52Speaker 1: into place and pop that back into place and make
- 0:54Speaker 1: things all better.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Right. So a lot of times we find that dizzeyess
- 0:58Speaker 3: vertigo can be caused by problem in our inner ear.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Now you're probably not thinking, I thought ears were for hearing.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Why would my dizziness vertigo issues be there. Well, in
- 1:07Speaker 3: our inner ear is our center for equilibrium and balance,
- 1:12Speaker 3: and there's this is this is good where people might
- 1:14Speaker 3: be like, this is really weird sounding. But there's tiny
- 1:16Speaker 3: little stones that float in a fluid inside our inner ear. Again,
- 1:21Speaker 3: people are like, what are you talking about.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I've said for ye head.
- 1:25Speaker 2: It is true there's.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Tiny little stones that when they get out of position,
- 1:31Speaker 3: that that changes the equilibrium the balance in the center,
- 1:35Speaker 3: like in our ear centers.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So that's where we can get some of that feeling. Now,
- 1:39Speaker 2: there's some you.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Know, physical therapy, occupational therapy things that can help reposition
- 1:44Speaker 3: those stones. So that could be a cause of some
- 1:46Speaker 3: of that dizziness vertigo. But it could also be that
- 1:49Speaker 3: there is a bone out of alignment in your upper neck,
- 1:51Speaker 3: usually around C two, because that CEA two nerve actually
- 1:54Speaker 3: goes back up into our head and controls our our
- 1:57Speaker 3: eyes and ears and no, so SEA two is really
- 1:59Speaker 3: known for the ear stuff.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So I was going to say to C too, that's
- 2:02Speaker 1: what I was thinking.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I have no idea. We've talked about that before with
- 2:05Speaker 3: chronic ear infections, that C two can be a big
- 2:07Speaker 3: factor to that, but also can contribute to that dizziness,
- 2:11Speaker 3: the vertigo, the balance issues because that nerve's not communicating
- 2:16Speaker 3: with the ear properly when our C two vertebrate is
- 2:18Speaker 3: out of alignment in our neck. So we find that
- 2:20Speaker 3: upper neck adjustments actually really help with reducing dizziness and
- 2:25Speaker 3: vertigo or balance equilibrium kind of things.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Nice. So how would somebody know if this is something
- 2:31Speaker 1: they need? I suppose if they're dizzy, if they're quite dizzy,
- 2:34Speaker 1: they might realize that, hey, this could be kend of
- 2:35Speaker 1: what you're talking about. Or would they need to have
- 2:37Speaker 1: been diagnosed with something, or if they if they're dizzy,
- 2:39Speaker 1: would that be enough for them to stop in and say, hey, doc,
- 2:42Speaker 1: help me out right.
- 2:43Speaker 2: With any like health conditions.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Someone doesn't need a diagnosis to go see a chiropractor.
- 2:48Speaker 3: If you're dealing with you, like I just started having
- 2:50Speaker 3: some really dizzy spells, you know, maybe let's see if
- 2:52Speaker 3: chiropractic can help with that before I go try to
- 2:54Speaker 3: get on some medication or something like that. You know,
- 2:57Speaker 3: whatever direction you start with, if you go to your
- 2:59Speaker 3: primary go to chiropractor, PT whatever, all of us professionals
- 3:03Speaker 3: we're going to help direct you in the right direction.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Chiropractice a good stepping point, so then you know, use
- 3:08Speaker 3: a little bit cheaper than going to the doctor too, uh,
- 3:11Speaker 3: and we're a lot easier to get in with right away.
- 3:13Speaker 3: So I think that's why all that times, Chiropractice is a
- 3:15Speaker 3: really good starting point because you're not having to wait
- 3:18Speaker 3: weeks or even months. If it's getting to a point
- 3:20Speaker 3: where you need a specialist, you can come in and
- 3:22Speaker 3: talk with us, and then we can determine.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Too if this is going to be a good.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Direction, or if we need to send you out to
- 3:28Speaker 3: your primary care prop.
- 3:29Speaker 1: If somebody would like to take that first step, what
- 3:32Speaker 1: is the what's that procedure look like to get on
- 3:34Speaker 1: the list and come in and have you look at
- 3:36Speaker 1: the rocks in my head?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Well we can't see them, but.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Shake them around whatever you gotta do, you know, but
- 3:42Speaker 1: it starts.
- 3:42Speaker 2: With you at least getting a new patient appointment in.
- 3:44Speaker 3: So we can go over your health history, find out
- 3:47Speaker 3: what's going on with you and if you're going to
- 3:48Speaker 3: be a good candidate for chiropractic care in our office.
