Missouri’s central and eastern regions braced for disaster as torrential rains—up to 12 inches—triggered flash floods, forcing over 90 swift-water rescues of stranded campers and motorists. With flash flood warnings already in place for a popular recreation corridor, Governor Mike Kehoe declared a state of emergency, mobilizing search and rescue teams and deploying the National Guard’s helicopter to reach those cut off by impassable roads.
