- 0:00Speaker 1: Erica DeLong here with iHeartRadio and Jenny palm Te, your
- 0:03Speaker 1: CEO of the KO Cancer fun and you're just easy
- 0:06Speaker 1: you come in. You've been doing this for a long time.
- 0:08Speaker 1: You've been with the kW Cancer Fund for a very
- 0:10Speaker 1: long time with KO. Tell us what's going on this
- 0:13Speaker 1: year because you're partnering again with Bojangles.
- 0:15Speaker 2: We are, can you believe it? We were looking back
- 0:18Speaker 2: not long ago. This is going to be year nine
- 0:21Speaker 2: of our partnership with Bojangles and the impact that we've
- 0:24Speaker 2: been able to make. Last year, I don't know if
- 0:27Speaker 2: you all would remember, but they Bojangles Support crossed the
- 0:30Speaker 2: million dollar mark of support in the fight against all
- 0:34Speaker 2: cancers affecting women. And so we're super excited again about
- 0:37Speaker 2: this year. We are running the promotion, the bow Berry Promotion.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It runs January nineteenth through February first, and all proceeds
- 0:46Speaker 2: of bow Berry biscuits bought during that time will go
- 0:49Speaker 2: one hundred percent to the KAL Cancer Fund. So super excited.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And this is the Triangle area Bojangles, and it's just
- 0:54Speaker 1: easy to go in there and get a dozen of
- 0:56Speaker 1: Boberi biscuits or however many if you're hosting some friends
- 0:59Speaker 1: or whatever, just rab and boom and then all of
- 1:01Speaker 1: that is going to help KO Cancer Fund. Now, can
- 1:03Speaker 1: you explain everybody? And of course k and the organization
- 1:07Speaker 1: is well known around here, but some people maybe moving
- 1:09Speaker 1: to the area don't know. What does the Ko Cancer
- 1:11Speaker 1: Fund do? What does it stand for? And how did
- 1:13Speaker 1: it begin?
- 1:13Speaker 2: Well, it started and was founded by the late Coach
- 1:16Speaker 2: Kow who spent belief thirty three years at NC State
- 1:19Speaker 2: coaching women's basketball pack. Well, she had her own twenty
- 1:24Speaker 2: two on again, off again battle with breast cancer, and
- 1:27Speaker 2: so she wanted to then the last years of her
- 1:30Speaker 2: life be able to use her platform to inspire and
- 1:35Speaker 2: encourage and provide hope to cancer survivors and thrivers people
- 1:39Speaker 2: that were going through something really tough, and so she
- 1:42Speaker 2: established the Ko Cancer Fund. We have a three prong
- 1:44Speaker 2: mission statement. The first thing we do is we raise
- 1:47Speaker 2: money for cancer research and drugs that are life enhancing.
- 1:52Speaker 2: The second thing we do is we fund programs that
- 1:54Speaker 2: provide access to care for under resource women, which was
- 1:58Speaker 2: at the heart of coach how she was a servant
- 2:01Speaker 2: leader at the core and so that's such a reflection
- 2:04Speaker 2: of something that was very important to her from day one.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And then the third prong is to unite people for
- 2:09Speaker 2: a common cause, and we do that a couple different ways.
- 2:11Speaker 2: We have a national grassroots movement in sports called Play
- 2:14Speaker 2: for K. It will amazing, it'll culminate in February. You'll
- 2:18Speaker 2: see all the pink and primarily women's basketball teams, but
- 2:21Speaker 2: other sports and men's women's as well. And then we
- 2:24Speaker 2: also host two events, signature events, and one is a
- 2:28Speaker 2: celebration run walk that we host in February.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And you've been with an organization, first of all, you're
- 2:32Speaker 1: a player yourself, you've been assistant coach, you've come up
- 2:34Speaker 1: now as the CEO, and you know how important collaboration is.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Oh, teamwork. Teamwork makes the dream work the right team.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I could go all the sayings that I learned from
- 2:45Speaker 2: Coach how but it's just so true. I Mean, there's
- 2:48Speaker 2: just something about coming together and Coachoo wanted to really
- 2:53Speaker 2: unite communities across the country in the fight against cancer.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And I think everything that we do is reflective of that,
- 3:00Speaker 2: and we see the impact and it just makes you
- 3:02Speaker 2: feel different to know that you're a part of something
- 3:04Speaker 2: bigger than yourself.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So the Area Triangle Bojangles, y'all partner again nine years in.
- 3:10Speaker 1: What does everybody need to know to make sure that
- 3:12Speaker 1: they are helping in the fight against cancer, all women's cancers.
- 3:15Speaker 2: One, you need to know that those bow Berry biscuits
- 3:18Speaker 2: are delicious, and I would highly recommend that everybody go
- 3:24Speaker 2: eat some bow Berry biscuits. Go purchase some bow Berry biscuits.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Every dollar race Triangle Bojangles will be donating to the
- 3:33Speaker 2: ko Cancer Fund and we will be making an impact
- 3:36Speaker 2: in the fight against all cancers affecting women with that donation.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So January nineteenth through February, first stop by the Triangle
- 3:43Speaker 1: area Bojangles. Pick up those Bowberi biscuits. You can't just
- 3:45Speaker 1: have one, get as many as you can for your household,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and all proceeds go to the KAL Cancer fun That's it.
- 3:51Speaker 2: We're super excited.
