- 0:00Speaker 1: G one I five, It's the Erica Show. Brandy Sadler
- 0:03Speaker 1: back on the phone from the Prom Shop, which is
- 0:05Speaker 1: happening in March. You guys have been doing this for
- 0:07Speaker 1: how many years now?
- 0:08Speaker 2: This is our seventeenth year.
- 0:10Speaker 1: That's incredible. Everybody in the triangle knows about this event,
- 0:13Speaker 1: which tell everybody, maybe the newbies that have moved to
- 0:15Speaker 1: the triangle, what is the prom Shop and how does
- 0:17Speaker 1: it help the community.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Sure, this is our seventeenth year doing this, and we
- 0:22Speaker 2: provide prom dresses and all accessories to girls who can't
- 0:25Speaker 2: afford to a TAM prom or who just need a
- 0:28Speaker 2: little help being able to afford to a TAM prom,
- 0:30Speaker 2: all at no cost.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And that's like everything, all the accessories, everything, They can
- 0:35Speaker 1: just literally walk up. Now, how do you do you
- 0:37Speaker 1: have to sign up? Or anybody that shows up to
- 0:40Speaker 1: try on a dress, they can go home with a dress.
- 0:42Speaker 2: That's right. So I think that's what sets us apart
- 0:45Speaker 2: is that we provide everything dress, shoes, jewelry, makeup, and accessories,
- 0:51Speaker 2: so head to toe you do not have to preregister.
- 0:55Speaker 2: All you have to do is show up and sign
- 0:57Speaker 2: in and start shopping.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Which is incredible because prom is so expensive, but it's
- 1:01Speaker 1: also a milestone that you never forget in your life
- 1:04Speaker 1: as you're a child or young adult, so it really
- 1:07Speaker 1: is special. Now, how can the community help provide these
- 1:10Speaker 1: dresses or things that are needed?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Sure Eric study was released in July that said the
- 1:16Speaker 2: average cost of prom now is two thousand dollars.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Oh my gosh and insane, it really is.
- 1:26Speaker 2: And with the cost of everything so high now, that
- 1:29Speaker 2: is not doable for a lot of families. So we
- 1:32Speaker 2: want to alleviate that burden. We have been blessed by
- 1:36Speaker 2: the community to have dress donations coming in and we
- 1:40Speaker 2: will continue to take donations of white new dresses within
- 1:45Speaker 2: five years up to February twenty.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Fourth, Okay, And then the event where is it? What's
- 1:51Speaker 1: the date, the times that you could shop and all
- 1:53Speaker 1: of that.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So our event is Friday February twenty eighth from three
- 1:58Speaker 2: to seven and Saturday, March first from nine to one.
- 2:03Speaker 2: And it's a Apex United Methodist Church in Apex.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I love it. And then is there a website or
- 2:09Speaker 1: anything that people can stay up to date or if
- 2:11Speaker 1: they forget the address, they can go and save it
- 2:14Speaker 1: on their phone.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Everything we have is located on our Facebook page so
- 2:18Speaker 2: you can get all the details about the entire weekend,
- 2:21Speaker 2: all the frequently asked questions, all of the lists of
- 2:26Speaker 2: things that we still need is found on our Facebook
