- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm very excited to invite two guys for the first
- 0:57Speaker 1: time to Juicy Scoop. Discovered you on TikTok, killing it
- 1:01Speaker 1: on Instagram as well. Some people know them as the
- 1:04Speaker 1: Mean Gays.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06Speaker 2: We have Aaron Goldenberg. and Jake Jones. Say hello to
- 1:10Speaker 2: the Juicy Scoopers.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Hi, Juicy Scoopers.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Hi, everybody. We're so excited to be here.
- 1:13Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks for having us.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Seriously, we're so mean and gay. Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Okay, so let's talk a little bit about how you
- 1:21Speaker 1: guys met and then created this, which just to let
- 1:24Speaker 1: people know, they're not mean in real life.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And one way- So she thinks.
- 1:29Speaker 4: That's a good start.
- 1:30Speaker 2: That's a good start.
- 1:30Speaker 1: But the videos are so dead on and funny and
- 1:36Speaker 1: you're basically- We'll go through all of them, but it's basically,
- 1:39Speaker 1: if you had two guys that are gay, and you're
- 1:43Speaker 1: that girl, maybe you have a lot of gay friends,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and they do a lot of backhand and compliments, and
- 1:50Speaker 1: the scenarios are hilarious, and you guys have great chemistry,
- 1:54Speaker 1: but one of the ways we know that you aren't mean,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and that this, of course, is scripted, is that you
- 1:58Speaker 1: now include in all your content the making of the videos,
- 2:03Speaker 1: which everyone loves a blooper reel.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So how did you guys, what's your background and how
- 2:08Speaker 1: did you meet? Well, first let's do how your background,
- 2:10Speaker 1: because you're actors and stuff. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 4: So we're both based in Atlanta now.
- 2:14Speaker 5: I'm from Atlanta.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Grew up.
- 2:16Speaker 5: About four years ago, I was like.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I kind of want to like pop my internet pussy.
- 2:19Speaker 4: You know, I want to show my personality.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Are we allowed to curse? Oh, yeah. He said pussy.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 2:26Speaker 1: We can say bad words and everything. It's fine.
- 2:29Speaker 4: But yeah, so like I started doing my thing on
- 2:30Speaker 4: the internet and then I got a DM from Aaron
- 2:33Speaker 4: and he was like, we live in the same city.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So what was the first thing you were featuring as
- 2:37Speaker 2: your content?
- 2:38Speaker 4: I would say original content that like really popped off
- 2:40Speaker 4: for me was I made this really silly video about
- 2:42Speaker 4: Chili's Bar and Grill.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I love Chili's Bar and Grill.
- 2:45Speaker 4: And it was just, I had my 28th birthday at
- 2:47Speaker 4: a Chili's and it was like kind of the first.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Thing that- In Atlanta?
- 2:51Speaker 4: In Atlanta.
- 2:51Speaker 2: That must have been awesome.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Because I was like, I wanted to do this huge
- 2:54Speaker 4: opposition of like everybody's trying to go to like this
- 2:56Speaker 4: nice bar or they want to go to this nice restaurant.
- 2:58Speaker 4: And I was like, I'm white trash. I want to
- 3:00Speaker 4: show the world that I'm going to fuck it up
- 3:01Speaker 4: at Chili's.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You know what I love about Chili's bar?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Girl. When we were at Chelsea lately, I kept talking
- 3:07Speaker 1: about Chili's and we were trying to get to do
- 3:10Speaker 1: a show at Chili's and it never happened. Because what
- 3:12Speaker 1: I love about a Chili's is it's the five o'clock hour.
- 3:18Speaker 2: It's the happy hour, the appetizers, the sweetness.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Of like a chicken soaked in like so many calories.
- 3:29Speaker 4: So much sugar.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So much fried things. I love like an exciting egg roll.
- 3:34Speaker 5: A Southwestern egg roll.
- 3:36Speaker 4: What does that mean? No one knows.
- 3:38Speaker 5: No one knows.
- 3:39Speaker 1: It's an egg roll, but with like corn and black
- 3:41Speaker 1: beans and like a chipotle dip.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: And then I love like an exciting high calorie cocktail.
- 3:48Speaker 4: A thousand percent. And you want that cocktail to be
- 3:50Speaker 4: a half gallon.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yes, and you want it to be blue. And you
- 3:53Speaker 2: want it to be blue.
- 3:54Speaker 5: So much food coloring. Yeah, I was across the street
- 3:56Speaker 5: from a Chili's for like three weeks at the beginning
- 4:02Speaker 5: of my tour. And I went there so many times
- 4:07Speaker 5: or just like, it was so easy to like just
- 4:09Speaker 5: order really quick and then bring it back to my hotel. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 5: it was great.
- 4:12Speaker 4: I'm also dying that we begin this pod talking about Chili's.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Okay, so you did a bit about Chili's.
- 4:17Speaker 4: So I did a bit about Chili's and it came
- 4:19Speaker 4: across his feed and he was like, I know that
- 4:21Speaker 4: exact Chili's.
- 4:23Speaker 5: At least this is how I tell this story. He
- 4:24Speaker 5: always corrects me though. It's incorrect, yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 4: He doesn't like Carrie but Sally. He was like, I
- 4:29Speaker 4: know you live in Atlanta. I know where that Chili's is,
- 4:31Speaker 4: but he has a totally different story.
- 4:32Speaker 5: So the story really goes the real life way from
- 4:36Speaker 5: not Jake's lying lips.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Is I did see the Chili's video. Somebody sent it
- 4:40Speaker 5: to me. I was like, oh, this guy's funny. And
- 4:42Speaker 5: it ended there. Then people kept sending me his stuff.
- 4:45Speaker 5: And I was like, oh, he's funny again. So it
- 4:47Speaker 5: wasn't an accident. And then one video he posted, I
- 4:52Speaker 5: paused it really quick. And I was like, his shirt
- 4:55Speaker 5: says Atlanta. Does he live in Atlanta? And then realized
- 4:59Speaker 5: that he was filming in Piedmont Park, which is iconic
- 5:02Speaker 5: to Midtown Atlanta. And so I was like, I think
- 5:05Speaker 5: this bitch lives in my city. So then I- DM
- 5:08Speaker 5: to him. And I was like, Hey, would you, cause
- 5:09Speaker 5: I'm always trying to like collab with other creators, especially
- 5:12Speaker 5: those that I think are funny or like LGBT and whatever.
- 5:15Speaker 5: And I was like, would you want to get together
- 5:17Speaker 5: and like have dinner and maybe like collab on some stuff?
- 5:20Speaker 5: And that's just kind of simply how it started. Like
- 5:23Speaker 5: the idea for Mean Gays wasn't a thing at that time.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And So you guys are not romantically involved.
- 5:29Speaker 4: We're not.
- 5:30Speaker 5: No.
- 5:31Speaker 4: But I do. I do want to say, like, the
- 5:32Speaker 4: first time we had dinner, I think you do have
- 5:34Speaker 4: to scope out chemistry and say, like, if we are
- 5:37Speaker 4: going to go into creating content together, there needs to
- 5:39Speaker 4: be this natural cadence, at least.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:41Speaker 4: So we went out to dinner and I was like, wow,
- 5:43Speaker 4: this is actually so seamless. Immediately, I was like.
- 5:48Speaker 5: I just loved his energy and you're addressing some.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Now, do you have as gay men that meet and
- 5:54Speaker 1: then just become platonic friends, business partners, even though that
- 5:57Speaker 1: was the initial reason for meeting, do you have a
- 6:01Speaker 1: honest conversation of like, hey, hi, I'm not into fucking you.
- 6:04Speaker 1: And then you go, I'm not into fucking you. And
- 6:06Speaker 1: then you go, great. Do you ever say it out loud?
- 6:09Speaker 6: Okay.
- 6:10Speaker 4: If it feels needed.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:11Speaker 4: But in this situation, I think it was platonic from
- 6:13Speaker 4: the jump. Yeah. You know, like I have been talking
- 6:16Speaker 4: to somebody. I think like the opportunity hasn't really been there.
- 6:19Speaker 4: All that stuff.
- 6:20Speaker 2: So you weren't like totally single to start?
- 6:22Speaker 4: Not really.
- 6:22Speaker 6: Okay.
- 6:22Speaker 1: No.
- 6:23Speaker 7: Good.
- 6:23Speaker 2: What a classy guy.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Hey, you know, infidelity is not really up my sleeve.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You know, I love that.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Okay, so now I want to know how did the idea,
- 6:33Speaker 1: because you said this, you've only been doing this for
- 6:35Speaker 1: a few months.
- 6:36Speaker 5: We only met in July. Like that's when the first
- 6:38Speaker 5: DM was sent. So we started off making a couple
- 6:42Speaker 5: other videos. I think both of us have a shit
- 6:46Speaker 5: ton of ideas written in like our notes folder of
- 6:49Speaker 5: like just one sentence pitches that could be written into
- 6:52Speaker 5: a full sketch.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Was your background, was there a sketch and improv background?
- 6:56Speaker 1: Because it's very, you know, like Groundlings-esque kind of sketches
- 6:58Speaker 1: that I love, like strong character work.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I think for Aaron, for sure.
- 7:01Speaker 4: For me, I was more going for like a spicy
- 7:04Speaker 4: internet personality. Like I was just trying to be funny
- 7:06Speaker 4: on the internet. And what's beautiful is he's kind of
- 7:08Speaker 4: like brought me into this.
- 7:09Speaker 2: World of let's script it out. Because you're a professional actor.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And what about you?
- 7:12Speaker 4: I'm like segueing into that when it's right for me.
- 7:15Speaker 2: What was your background before meeting Aaron?
- 7:17Speaker 5: Oh my God, girl.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I was like managing a restaurant. But I was just
- 7:20Speaker 4: like wild and really bold.
- 7:22Speaker 5: He also was a financial advisor at one point. Right?
- 7:26Speaker 5: I was an accountant for a minute, but I was
- 7:27Speaker 5: just like, that's my old name.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Wait, I love that because there's one of the videos
- 7:33Speaker 1: where you mistake him.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Oh, yes, it does. for being not white for being.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Hispanic they do this one which is so funny where
- 7:41Speaker 1: they go the mean gays are doing a live and
- 7:46Speaker 1: you're answering questions which of course this is all scripted
- 7:48Speaker 1: which I love and someone and then how does it go?
- 7:53Speaker 4: I think it basically you basically are like Well, it's
- 7:59Speaker 4: crazy because, like, don't worry, Jake's not white. Because we
- 8:02Speaker 4: get this comment that comes up that's like, I don't know,
- 8:04Speaker 4: that's kind of racial. And he's like, no, I mean,
- 8:06Speaker 4: Jake's not white. Like, we're inclusive.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 5: And I'm like, babe, no, like, I'm really white. The
- 8:13Speaker 5: concept behind the joke, which is really, it's the joke that, like,
- 8:17Speaker 5: sprouted the whole script and the whole video.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:20Speaker 5: We wrote that one together because I was like, I
- 8:21Speaker 5: have this joke that, like, I'm a white person that's
- 8:25Speaker 5: like trying to have more diverse friends. And so I
- 8:28Speaker 5: think you're Hispanic and that's why I befriend you. But
- 8:30Speaker 5: then I find out you're white and I'm disappointed.
- 8:31Speaker 8: And.
- 8:32Speaker 5: And we go off and we have a fight and
- 8:34Speaker 5: it's like. Right, exactly.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And that was so funny to go off and have
- 8:37Speaker 1: a fight. And then you come back and you're reading
- 8:39Speaker 1: the comments and you're like, we just heard everything you said.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And they're like, shit.
- 8:43Speaker 2: It's so.
- 8:44Speaker 5: And then we're trying to redeem it.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Right. And we're like, well, I mean, he's bald.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Actually, he's disabled. He has a disability.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 5: So actually we do have diverse friends.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I love making fun of people that are overly righteous
- 8:57Speaker 1: about minorities and they're the whitest people ever and the
- 9:00Speaker 1: most privileged. And I love now that we're like three
- 9:03Speaker 1: years out of like the worst year ever about that
- 9:06Speaker 1: for good reason. I mean, but also just kind of
- 9:09Speaker 1: being able to poke fun at it and ourselves and
- 9:13Speaker 1: the striving of like trying to act differently. like, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you have something in you. I mean, I remember- I
- 9:18Speaker 1: think if it's.
- 9:19Speaker 5: The intention, like that person who I was thinking of
- 9:23Speaker 5: for that skit, that fictional person, is not befriending this
- 9:27Speaker 5: person for the right reasons. Right, exactly. And that's what
- 9:29Speaker 5: I wanted to- That's making fun of, yeah. If that's
- 9:30Speaker 5: why you're being nice to this person, because you're trying
- 9:34Speaker 5: to be a better person but you don't actually like
- 9:38Speaker 5: them as a friend or whatever, then that's kind of shitty.
- 9:41Speaker 5: You're not being genuine.
- 9:43Speaker 4: The reason it was written is because we've met people
- 9:45Speaker 4: like that. We're trying to bring people into their circle
- 9:47Speaker 4: that they don't genuinely care about, but it's an aesthetic thing.
- 9:50Speaker 4: They're posting them on Instagram. They're like, I have this
- 9:52Speaker 4: token friend of whatever caliber. It's like, this is all
- 9:56Speaker 4: based on real shit we see.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Like, that's why this all comes.
- 9:59Speaker 1: And that's why everyone is relating to it because they're like,
- 10:02Speaker 1: oh my God, thank you. And now we've said it.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And as Camille Grammer would say, and now we've said it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Now it's out there. No, it's totally true. And it's
- 10:11Speaker 1: like so stupid. And I'm glad that it's like so funny.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And I love there's this other girl that I just
- 10:18Speaker 1: came across. Her whole series is she will put the
- 10:23Speaker 1: camera on the ground and it's like influencers trying to
- 10:27Speaker 1: act like they're helping a homeless person or whatever. Yes, yes.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And she puts it on there. And then the next
- 10:32Speaker 1: stop is the same inspirational music and the guy talking like,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and this is your time to shine. And then she
- 10:39Speaker 1: gives a sandwich to obviously just she like made a fake.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Person sitting down.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Oh my God.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I could go through her thing and watch.
- 10:49Speaker 1: 25 of them, and it's the same music, and it's
- 10:51Speaker 1: the same joke, but it's so clever. And I'm telling you, watch.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Someone will probably copy her, too, and we'll get to
- 10:57Speaker 1: that in a minute. But first, I just want to explain.
- 11:00Speaker 1: This was your.
- 11:02Speaker 1: A still that you did about your spirit costume for Halloween.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And it's called Mean Gaze. And it includes a bald
- 11:09Speaker 1: cap because you're bald. Exactly. One ugly, one hot.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Well, I don't know which one is which. And I'm
- 11:14Speaker 2: not going to say.
- 11:16Speaker 1: What does it say? Refillable water cup for being thirsty.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Lingering eye contact. Inflatable sense of self. And then step one,
- 11:23Speaker 1: make friends. Step two, impress your friends. Step three, make
- 11:25Speaker 1: better friends. This sums it up. And that's why I
- 11:29Speaker 1: wanted to start with this one because it's so... So,
- 11:31Speaker 1: so funny.
- 11:32Speaker 4: It's Aaron's genius, truly.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 11:33Speaker 4: He put that together and he was like, thoughts on this?
- 11:36Speaker 4: I also want you to know the one ugly, one
- 11:38Speaker 4: hot is based off a real internet comment.
- 11:40Speaker 5: That's based off of a viral tweet.
- 11:42Speaker 2: That's so not about you guys?
- 11:43Speaker 5: No, no, no. Not about us at all. But this guy,
- 11:46Speaker 5: Robert Anderson, he's big in the gay world. Heartthrobert, I
- 11:50Speaker 5: think is his username on a lot of places.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Is he funny or just a hot guy?
- 11:54Speaker 5: He's funny he's funny he's got he's got a bunch
- 11:56Speaker 5: of really funny series okay he recaps old episodes of
- 11:59Speaker 5: seventh heaven right now is like.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Oh my god amazing but he remember seventh heaven that
- 12:04Speaker 1: guy was a full.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Perv right he points it all out he went to
- 12:08Speaker 4: all the discrepancies all the gross yeah he's like are
- 12:12Speaker 4: we not going to talk about all this syndicated television the.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Most christian show ever that the actor in real life it.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Was one of the shows that i was allowed to
- 12:20Speaker 5: watch as a kid but so i'm sorry um So Robert, uh,
- 12:25Speaker 5: or Rob, whatever he, I'm going to start that over.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Um, so Rob, he tweeted something about like, um, that
- 12:34Speaker 5: guys that are in a couple need to stop taking
- 12:37Speaker 5: all the single guys basically because threesomes with a couple are,
- 12:42Speaker 5: I guess, never satisfying in a certain way. There's always
- 12:45Speaker 5: like one ugly and one hot, blah, blah, blah. And
- 12:46Speaker 5: so everybody was like retweeting it. And that was one
- 12:49Speaker 5: of the, Pieces that I guess a lot of people had.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That reminds me of when sometimes when tall girls get
- 12:57Speaker 1: mad at the smalls who grab the talls. Because there's
- 13:02Speaker 1: only so many tall guys for a tall girl. And
- 13:06Speaker 1: as a sisterhood, you need to save the talls for
- 13:09Speaker 1: the talls. And then I've had smalls.
- 13:11Speaker 5: It sounds like we're in a Dr.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Seuss novel right now.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And I've had smalls reach out to me and they're like, Heather,
- 13:15Speaker 1: I'm a small married to a tall, but without him,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I wouldn't be able to like get anything from my
- 13:19Speaker 1: cupboards or anything.
- 13:21Speaker 5: And I, and I'm like, look, I should have made
- 13:22Speaker 5: that rhyme.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And I understand, you know, um, love is love and
- 13:29Speaker 1: threesomes are threesomes, but I agree.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I agree. If you're gonna, so you're saying that there's,
- 13:34Speaker 2: there's always, you're saying if a.
- 13:35Speaker 5: If his issue was like, if I'm single, all the
- 13:38Speaker 5: other single guys are taken in. By couples.
- 13:40Speaker 8: Right.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Leave it for the single guys.
- 13:42Speaker 2: So that we can match up.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Stop grabbing up the strays because there's no strays for
- 13:47Speaker 1: me to hook.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Again, you know what?
- 13:50Speaker 5: It's a small pool out here.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You have to put it out there so that people
- 13:53Speaker 1: start to say, what is the Christian thing to do?
- 13:55Speaker 5: Right.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Leave the stray single for the other single.
- 13:58Speaker 5: What's the Christian thing? What would Jesus do in this situation?
- 14:02Speaker 1: For the Lord.
- 14:03Speaker 5: The Lord Jesus Christ.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I love it.

- 14:36Speaker 8: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 14:39Speaker 8: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 14:42Speaker 8: have faced tremendous setbacks, and yet somehow have found a
- 14:46Speaker 8: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 14:52Speaker 9: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 14:55Speaker 9: filed against me.
- 14:55Speaker 5: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 14:58Speaker 5: what would you do if it was given back?
- 15:00Speaker 6: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 15:03Speaker 6: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 15:05Speaker 4: He said, I have a work dad. I need a
- 15:07Speaker 4: home dad.
- 15:08Speaker 6: What happens next?
- 15:09Speaker 4: When I came in, he started crying.
- 15:10Speaker 6: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 15:15Speaker 6: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 15:18Speaker 6: happens next.
- 15:19Speaker 5: I decided to risk it all.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I realized how valuable every day was. You're worth the work.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Listen, Dara, I'm not going to pull punches. You can
- 15:26Speaker 5: use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 15:27Speaker 8: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 15:31Speaker 8: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 15:41Speaker 1: Okay, so this is one of my favorite ones. This was,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I think this was coming, was this coming to the-
- 15:49Speaker 1: A friend's sad house party.
- 15:52Speaker 2: A friend's sad house party.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Let me see, I think I have this one.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Here it is. This is your right point of view.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The mean gays attend your sad house party. And how
- 16:01Speaker 1: did you come up with this one? Had you been
- 16:03Speaker 1: to a sad house party and you needed to say it?
- 16:05Speaker 1: Because I've been to some sad house parties. I've been
- 16:08Speaker 1: to some that were just too many Trader Joe's snacks.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And I'm a queen.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I'm like a Trader Joe's too. But where I just,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I got, I was like, if I, there was one
- 16:18Speaker 1: holiday season, like in my late 20s, that was just
- 16:23Speaker 1: one too many sad apartment holiday parties.
- 16:28Speaker 2: That involved Merlot.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Okay.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And shitty seven layer dips and shit like that. And
- 16:35Speaker 1: I was like, this, I go, this is a sad party.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Seven shitty layers of seven shitty dips.
- 16:41Speaker 5: That's crazy. And now I'm going to shit.
- 16:43Speaker 4: No, this was, I have to hand this one off
- 16:45Speaker 4: to Aaron. This was his idea. But like, like I said,
- 16:49Speaker 4: like when we go through these, there's a level of
- 16:51Speaker 4: improvising when we're like actually in the house. And he's like,
- 16:54Speaker 4: this is my idea for it. Like, what would we
- 16:56Speaker 4: actually be doing? The previous screenshot is us just being like, Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 4: You know, the funny thing is that is Jake's house. Oh,
- 17:06Speaker 4: I live in a quirky house in Atlanta. My house
- 17:08Speaker 4: is 100 years old. No joke. And so we're walking
- 17:11Speaker 4: around the house just fully like shitting on my own house.
- 17:14Speaker 4: It's amazing.
- 17:15Speaker 5: And sometimes like the the caption comes later and I
- 17:18Speaker 5: write the script. The idea for the script was basically
- 17:20Speaker 5: just like we're going to your house that you invited
- 17:22Speaker 5: us to and we just. are fucking hating on it
- 17:25Speaker 5: the entire time, which is such an awkward situation. Then
- 17:27Speaker 5: we turned it into a sad house party and I
- 17:29Speaker 5: added background music to the soundtrack.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I also love when you have whoever's filming it or whatever,
- 17:35Speaker 1: who's playing the part of the other person. They're always
- 17:38Speaker 1: really good too. Whoever you get for those people are
- 17:40Speaker 1: like really good and natural.
- 17:42Speaker 5: The majority of them have been improv friends. So this guy,
- 17:45Speaker 5: for instance, his name is Davey. He's got another podcast
- 17:48Speaker 5: as well, which I... Welcome to Colonel is the name. So,
- 17:52Speaker 5: so funny. I've been a guest on that a few times.
- 17:54Speaker 5: It's an improvised podcast. Anyway.
- 17:56Speaker 7: Love it.
- 17:57Speaker 5: So I knew that he would be great for that.
- 18:00Speaker 5: My friend Sarah, who's an actress filmmaker, was the voice
- 18:03Speaker 5: behind the baby shower one. My friend Joseph, who's another
- 18:06Speaker 5: actor in town, was the voice behind the super, super
- 18:08Speaker 5: viral one where we invite over a third. So yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 5: it's just friends that I know that I get along
- 18:13Speaker 5: with and have chemistry with and would like to film
- 18:16Speaker 5: with anyway.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Who are willing to not be on camera and just
- 18:19Speaker 5: hold it and be.
- 18:20Speaker 4: A part of making this.
- 18:21Speaker 5: But I need to give him his props because he
- 18:22Speaker 5: does direct.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You mean you need to give him his flowers?
- 18:24Speaker 5: Yeah, all of the flowers.
- 18:25Speaker 1: That obviously came from the gay world, right? This is
- 18:28Speaker 1: a new expression that's taking over, guys. And it's like
- 18:31Speaker 1: he needs or she needs all the flowers. And the
- 18:34Speaker 1: first time I heard it, this one... Um, this, this one,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I'll just tell you, like, it was like this, this other, um,
- 18:44Speaker 1: podcaster guy, friend of mine, he was like in a
- 18:46Speaker 1: fight with another gay podcaster guy. And we all were
- 18:49Speaker 1: at the show together and he goes, and then he
- 18:51Speaker 1: walks up to me and he's like, I just want
- 18:53Speaker 1: to give you your flowers. And he tells me the
- 18:55Speaker 1: whole story. And I'm like, well, where are the flowers?
- 18:59Speaker 1: And he goes, what are you talking about? I go,
- 19:01Speaker 1: he said that he was here to get, no, he
- 19:03Speaker 1: goes like, no, that just meant like, I'm here to
- 19:04Speaker 1: give you like a legit compliment. And I go, oh,
- 19:07Speaker 1: so ever since then, that was only like in September.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Now I feel like I hear the flowers everywhere.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Did they just say, I need to give you your
- 19:15Speaker 4: flowers and not follow it with a compliment?
- 19:17Speaker 2: No, he did follow it with a comma.
- 19:19Speaker 1: But he said flowers, but when he was relaying the
- 19:21Speaker 1: story to me, and we were leaving the theater, I
- 19:24Speaker 1: was like, well, don't forget your flowers. And I'm imagining
- 19:28Speaker 1: some roses, baby's breath, like what my mom used to
- 19:31Speaker 1: bring me.
- 19:32Speaker 5: I love flowers, thank you.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, when I would do the high school play, my
- 19:35Speaker 1: parents would go to the local florist and give me
- 19:38Speaker 1: some flowers.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And he was like, what are you talking about? And
- 19:41Speaker 2: he was like, no, no, no, that just means, and
- 19:42Speaker 2: I was like, oh.
- 19:43Speaker 10: So go ahead, go back to your story.
- 19:44Speaker 4: What I was going to say is like in the
- 19:46Speaker 4: in the moment he's doing a great job directing me.
- 19:49Speaker 4: He's directing the people behind the camera, every reaction, every
- 19:52Speaker 4: like vocal tone you hear, he's got an eye for it.
- 19:55Speaker 4: So I think that's, what's awesome is like you put
- 19:57Speaker 4: the mean gaze in literally any situation and, he can
- 20:00Speaker 4: really come up with an amazing idea on like how
- 20:03Speaker 4: to make it applicable because these mean gays are going
- 20:05Speaker 4: through life.
- 20:06Speaker 1: You know, I just realized we never got to, you
- 20:09Speaker 1: said you did a couple other fun things together. How
- 20:11Speaker 1: did you land on these characters and calling them the
- 20:14Speaker 1: mean gays? I, so great question.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Thank you, Heather. So I, I really just, the initial
- 20:24Speaker 5: idea was like, I thought the caption was going to
- 20:28Speaker 5: be something like, you're gay neighbors who you can't tell
- 20:31Speaker 5: if they're complimenting you or not. Something like that, which
- 20:34Speaker 5: I felt was too many words. And so I was
- 20:37Speaker 5: trying to find a different caption that was shorter. And honestly,
- 20:40Speaker 5: I didn't think the mean gays would then become a thing.
- 20:44Speaker 5: We shot two mean gays videos that first day, one
- 20:48Speaker 5: in the gym and one on the sidewalk where they're
- 20:50Speaker 5: walking past and complimenting their neighbors. Other people on the
- 20:53Speaker 5: sidewalk and then like, you know, complimenting the people in
- 20:56Speaker 5: the gym. And the first caption with those was the
- 20:58Speaker 5: mean gays tear you down with compliments. So that's what
- 21:00Speaker 5: I landed on.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Which is like a backhanded compliment, but heightened because it's clever, funny, mean,
- 21:08Speaker 1: gay saying it.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Somebody in PR or marketing or something, a friend of
- 21:12Speaker 5: mine told me later, he was like, oh no, that
- 21:13Speaker 5: was actually very, very smart for you to land on
- 21:16Speaker 5: those three words, the mean gays. from a marketing perspective
- 21:21Speaker 5: that actually like makes so much more sense than you
- 21:23Speaker 5: saying anything else about their like or your neighbors who
- 21:27Speaker 5: like it's it's specific. Everybody knows these people, whatever. So
- 21:30Speaker 5: I was like, Great, I'm a marketing genius on accident.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Well, when I came up with the name for Juicy Scoop,
- 21:36Speaker 1: the first network I was at, I met with this
- 21:39Speaker 1: producer and he's.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Like, well, what are we going to call this?
- 21:42Speaker 1: He goes, is there an expression or something? And I go, oh,
- 21:46Speaker 1: for years I've said, what's the Juicy Scoop? Give me
- 21:49Speaker 1: the Juicy Scoop. And so then that happened. And then
- 21:52Speaker 1: I actually had someone else who was pretty successful tell
- 21:56Speaker 1: me about a year later, that name isn't good. You
- 22:01Speaker 1: should have called it like Heather's Hollywood or say Heather
- 22:03Speaker 1: McDonald in your name. And for like a couple of years,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I was like, oh, you're right. Maybe my name would
- 22:10Speaker 1: have been bigger because the podcast is so big. Maybe
- 22:12Speaker 1: people would know who Juicy Scoop is if it was
- 22:15Speaker 1: Heather McDonald's Hollywood or whatever. And now, of course, I'm
- 22:19Speaker 1: so glad that it's Juicy Scoop.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And I've actually had.
- 22:24Speaker 1: later on network people say it's very easy to sell
- 22:28Speaker 1: advertisers on your show because they know exactly what the
- 22:31Speaker 1: show is.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It isn't like.
- 22:33Speaker 5: Yes.
- 22:34Speaker 2: You know, it isn't like draperies and love. And you're like, well,
- 22:38Speaker 2: what is that? You know, like sometimes you're like, what
- 22:40Speaker 2: is that?
- 22:40Speaker 7: You know?
- 22:41Speaker 2: And so it's like, I think that is sometimes you
- 22:43Speaker 2: just kind of get lucky.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 2: And it really seems to work out.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Yeah. I think also like just the fact that it's
- 22:49Speaker 5: the mean gaze, a lot of people, I think, assume
- 22:54Speaker 5: that we took inspiration of that, like from the mean girls,
- 22:57Speaker 5: which is obviously a very famous franchise and movie, movie
- 23:02Speaker 5: and musical and all that. Um, And we didn't, it
- 23:06Speaker 5: was really just meant to be our thing. And then
- 23:08Speaker 5: it kind of has the same letters, but it wasn't
- 23:11Speaker 5: in any way like inspired by or trying to copy
- 23:13Speaker 5: that or whatever.
- 23:14Speaker 1: The other thing is, I feel like this is kind
- 23:17Speaker 1: of an interesting time in history for you guys to
- 23:21Speaker 1: crack open the egg that there are mean gays.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Yeah, oh my gosh. You mean the ones we've all met?
- 23:29Speaker 1: Yeah, because I don't think anyone has really recognized it.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And I think, you know, there's been such an alliance
- 23:35Speaker 1: between women and their gay friends. And some gay friends
- 23:41Speaker 1: are extremely loyal and fabulous. And then I've often said...
- 23:46Speaker 1: that one thing about gay men is not all gay
- 23:48Speaker 1: men are monogamous and not all gay men who have
- 23:52Speaker 1: their gay female best friend are monogamous to that girl.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But we think, because most women, straight women, are monogamous,
- 24:01Speaker 1: they think, oh, this is my gay best friend.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 2: And he's so wonderful to me.
- 24:06Speaker 1: You know, the best thing about having a gay best
- 24:09Speaker 1: friend who's male is you get all the benefits of
- 24:12Speaker 1: having a man around. You know, he's a gentleman. He
- 24:15Speaker 1: helps you out with stuff. But he doesn't want to
- 24:19Speaker 1: fuck you. And you're not going out for the same guy.
- 24:22Speaker 1: So sometimes with two girls that can be best friends,
- 24:24Speaker 1: there's a little bit of competition. You're at a bar
- 24:26Speaker 1: and the guy's talking to both of you. Yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 2: But you have the gay best friend and he's just
- 24:29Speaker 2: your bestie, right? So that's the most beautiful relationship there is.
- 24:32Speaker 4: It's the truest intention, right? Like, we are platonically just aligned.
- 24:35Speaker 1: However, some of these gay men can have lots of
- 24:40Speaker 1: chemistry with lots of fabulous straight women.
- 24:44Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, you see... You see.
- 24:49Speaker 1: That maybe as a straight woman, you're not that special
- 24:53Speaker 1: because all of a sudden you're like, wait a minute,
- 24:57Speaker 1: he's laughing and going out with this other girl.
- 25:01Speaker 2: And so there's that.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And then I also think there's an element of how
- 25:06Speaker 1: sometimes gay men, just like any kind of man or
- 25:09Speaker 1: woman or whatever, can be really funny. Fucking mean and
- 25:14Speaker 1: plotting and awful. And when two means, psycho means get together.
- 25:20Speaker 1: When two means get together, you know, like, you know,
- 25:25Speaker 1: my sister's a criminal defense attorney. And one time she said,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I never want to introduce these two people because if
- 25:31Speaker 1: they get together, they will try to destroy everything.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Someone.
- 25:37Speaker 4: I gotta say, I've been so shocked that you say that.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I really thought this would resonate a lot with gay men,
- 25:43Speaker 4: but what really started happening was this started to resonate
- 25:46Speaker 4: mostly with women and the women that fall in love
- 25:49Speaker 4: as friendships and have best friends with gay men, because
- 25:52Speaker 4: maybe it's not their gay best friends, but the gays
- 25:55Speaker 4: that they're associated with, they come into a party, they
- 25:58Speaker 4: step into your house and it's this catty passive aggressive speech.
- 26:01Speaker 4: And these women are like, what did I do? And
- 26:04Speaker 4: it's like, actually the sad truth is there's a lot
- 26:07Speaker 4: of catty speech that happens in the gay world. And these,
- 26:10Speaker 4: these straight women are just women in general. They're maybe
- 26:12Speaker 4: not as used to it because it's, they're used to
- 26:15Speaker 4: more direct communication on all that. So it's like, it's
- 26:18Speaker 4: heartbreaking to hear you say that because I like to
- 26:21Speaker 4: think I have phenomenal girlfriends, you know?
- 26:24Speaker 2: I still think it's all great.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I love exposing and having people realize it doesn't mean anything.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It just means that it's fun.
- 26:32Speaker 1: That we can talk about it, joke about it, and
- 26:34Speaker 1: be aware of it, of something that for so long
- 26:36Speaker 1: it was always... All gay men are the pillar of morality,
- 26:42Speaker 1: of friendship. They're the greatest things. And it's like, they're
- 26:45Speaker 1: just human too. Just like they're shitty doctors and shitty
- 26:48Speaker 1: lawyers and shitty politicians. There are some shitty gays.
- 26:52Speaker 2: There are some shitty gays that don't have your back.
- 26:57Speaker 1: That actually don't really care about you. And so I
- 27:00Speaker 1: experienced this year with two really good gay male friends
- 27:05Speaker 1: of mine.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Yeah, give us the juiciest.
- 27:07Speaker 2: That it is out there, but.
- 27:11Speaker 1: They got together and they plotted to like destroy me
- 27:14Speaker 1: and my career and everything. And at first I thought-
- 27:19Speaker 1: I thought one was influenced by the other. And then
- 27:22Speaker 1: I realized, no, the main more successful gay took the
- 27:26Speaker 1: other one down who was close to me to try
- 27:29Speaker 1: to destroy what I built here as a single woman.
- 27:32Speaker 2: And I have exposed it to.
- 27:35Speaker 1: The point where I need to still get on with
- 27:37Speaker 1: my life and be funny and everything. But I do
- 27:40Speaker 1: want people to have their eyes open about certain people.
- 27:44Speaker 1: And I think too many women are so infatuated by
- 27:48Speaker 1: a strong, charming, funny gay guy. and they're able to
- 27:52Speaker 1: be friends with them. They're able to listen to their
- 27:54Speaker 1: life and they think it's all great. I'm just saying like,
- 27:56Speaker 1: you could hate that person. And then other time you're like, well,
- 27:59Speaker 1: just look at someone's history and look at what they
- 28:01Speaker 1: do and look at how they're speaking to people. And
- 28:04Speaker 1: you're a woman and you should be also a little
- 28:07Speaker 1: more protective of your female counterparts.
- 28:09Speaker 5: I think one thing, just in friendships in general, so
- 28:13Speaker 5: not specific to gay men, but I think gay men
- 28:15Speaker 5: love to gossip.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Let's, you know.
- 28:19Speaker 5: And one thing I've tried to remind myself is like
- 28:23Speaker 5: you might think you have a fun one-on-one exclusive gossiping
- 28:28Speaker 5: relationship with this one person.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:29Speaker 5: But if they are gossiping about everybody else.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Oh my God.
- 28:33Speaker 5: To their other friends, they are gossiping about you bitch.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Yes. Especially what the content of the gossip is, right?
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 4: You can vent, like venting can be different than talking shit.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Totally. I'm having these issues with my girlfriend. Something happened.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Can I run this by you? I want to know
- 28:49Speaker 5: how to like bring up the conversation. I have those
- 28:51Speaker 5: kinds of conversations all the time with my roommate.
- 28:53Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 5: My other best friends like, this thing is really bothering me.
- 28:57Speaker 5: I don't know how to sort through this, but if
- 28:59Speaker 5: it's just like always talking shit about somebody, they're doing
- 29:04Speaker 5: that to you as well.
- 29:06Speaker 1: And I realized that one of the mean gays and
- 29:10Speaker 1: one of the girlfriends I had met through the original
- 29:13Speaker 1: mean gay that I became friends with, the two of
- 29:16Speaker 1: them were I could tell we're talking, talking shit. That's
- 29:22Speaker 1: exactly how I felt. And I've never, I have never
- 29:25Speaker 1: been cheated on. So I never knew what that was like.
- 29:27Speaker 1: And now I understand now that my trust in people
- 29:30Speaker 1: and friendships have been like, I look back and I really,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I really feel for anybody that is
- 29:37Speaker 1: able to forgive someone like that because I'm like, I can't.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Like when I know that this is like, I look back,
- 29:42Speaker 1: I'm like, did you even like me?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Like, what was this? Like, and what the fuck did
- 29:47Speaker 2: I do?
- 29:47Speaker 4: It's crazy. And experiencing that in a friendship is very
- 29:50Speaker 4: different than experiencing that in a romantic situation.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Right.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Because sex is a tempting thing.
- 29:55Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 2: And you almost expect more from your friends.
- 29:57Speaker 5: A thousand percent.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 2: When you really shouldn't.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And then you throw in Hollywood with it and thirsty
- 30:04Speaker 1: podcasters who, you know, and then on top of it,
- 30:08Speaker 1: it's not just getting on the phone now and talking
- 30:11Speaker 1: shit about your friend. It's now going on your show
- 30:14Speaker 1: and exposing every conversation you ever had with your friend.
- 30:19Speaker 1: for clicks and all that kind of stuff, which is
- 30:22Speaker 1: not how I've run this business for nine years. And
- 30:25Speaker 1: I'm like, now everybody's kind of copying the formula. And
- 30:29Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, I want to make friends in
- 30:31Speaker 1: this business, but I'm also shopping for friends that don't
- 30:33Speaker 1: have a podcast.
- 30:34Speaker 2: And my friend goes, good luck.
- 30:35Speaker 5: Or social media.
- 30:36Speaker 4: It doesn't exist.
- 30:38Speaker 5: I have guys all the time, like, you know, either
- 30:40Speaker 5: that I'd hook up with or having conversations with on
- 30:43Speaker 5: dating apps. And maybe they say something awkward or do
- 30:46Speaker 5: something awkward. And then they're like, oh God, you're going
- 30:48Speaker 5: to make a video about me, aren't you? And I'm like, no,
- 30:50Speaker 5: probably not. I, that's not my, that's not my MO. You,
- 30:54Speaker 5: this person I haven't met or barely know and not
- 30:56Speaker 5: where I get my inspiration from. I'm just a artist
- 31:01Speaker 5: who likes to write and I usually get my inspiration
- 31:04Speaker 5: from random things. It's not, it's not always a real
- 31:07Speaker 5: life conversation or I think like, oh, that would be funny.
- 31:10Speaker 5: And then it kind of like elaborates from there.
- 31:11Speaker 4: So I think like, hearing your story, has our content
- 31:15Speaker 4: triggered you from this recent experience? Because now I'm like,
- 31:18Speaker 4: now you've dealt with mean gays in real life.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Well, I think it kind of all started with my girl,
- 31:23Speaker 1: Jennifer Coolidge, who I love so much, who I had
- 31:26Speaker 1: a conversation with her right after we finished, she finished
- 31:29Speaker 1: all the episodes aired for White Lotus, is why I
- 31:32Speaker 1: think why when she goes, these gays, these gays are
- 31:36Speaker 1: trying to murder me.
- 31:38Speaker 5: You were like, preach.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I think that's when people were just, I was like, God,
- 31:42Speaker 1: why do people think this is so funny? And then
- 31:45Speaker 1: shortly after that, all this stuff happened to me, and
- 31:49Speaker 1: now I think people are more, and then your thing happens.
- 31:51Speaker 1: So I think it's kind of like a perfect timing
- 31:53Speaker 1: of just, Being aware.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Calling it out. There's nothing wrong. It's, you know, it
- 31:59Speaker 2: can be fun.
- 32:00Speaker 5: It can be the villain in a hit HBO show
- 32:02Speaker 5: as well. They don't have to be like the funny,
- 32:04Speaker 5: sassy best friend.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 32:05Speaker 4: I honestly would rather play a villain.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:08Speaker 2: They could be murderers too.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Yeah. I, I, I was once told years ago before
- 32:13Speaker 5: I lost the hair, a friend of mine was like,
- 32:15Speaker 5: please don't take this the wrong way. And I feel
- 32:17Speaker 5: like you're going to, but you would play an excellent psychopath.
- 32:19Speaker 5: And I was like, and I did take it the
- 32:21Speaker 5: wrong way. I was like, what do you mean? I'm,
- 32:22Speaker 5: I'm the ingenue. I'm the good guy. I'm a nice person.
- 32:25Speaker 5: And then as I got older and like, you know,
- 32:27Speaker 5: matured in my acting and all that, I was like,
- 32:29Speaker 5: oh no, it's really fun to play shitty ass people.
- 32:31Speaker 10: Oh yeah.
- 32:31Speaker 4: And there's complexity.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:34Speaker 4: When you play a villain.
- 32:35Speaker 5: There's drama.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 5: It's juicy. Yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 1: No, I love all that. I had a question and
- 32:42Speaker 1: it'll come back to me and I forgot.
- 32:44Speaker 2: But go ahead.
- 32:44Speaker 5: One thing I was going to say, like, I know
- 32:46Speaker 5: that Jake said that it's resonated with a lot of women.
- 32:50Speaker 5: I think like at Atlanta Pride, for instance, which was the,
- 32:53Speaker 5: it was just the last big gay gathering that I
- 32:56Speaker 5: had been to. So many people said things like, thank
- 33:01Speaker 5: you so much for like finally calling it out. Nobody's
- 33:03Speaker 5: talking about that. And I didn't really understand. Cause I
- 33:05Speaker 5: feel like. That wasn't the intent, right? It was just
- 33:08Speaker 5: to make people laugh. It was literally like, oh, this
- 33:10Speaker 5: would be a funny scenario. And this is like close
- 33:13Speaker 5: enough to real life. you know, sort of situations that
- 33:17Speaker 5: I've either heard about or have happened to me or
- 33:20Speaker 5: that I've been on the other side of. Like, this
- 33:22Speaker 5: would be cringey. I love making stuff that you feel
- 33:26Speaker 5: like can't look away from. Like, it's so cringe to
- 33:28Speaker 5: watch and you're like, oh, no, no, no, no. I
- 33:30Speaker 5: can't believe they said that.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Right.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Yeah, that's kind of the intent with a lot of
- 33:33Speaker 5: them is just like, how can we put them in
- 33:36Speaker 5: the worst scenario? But I also, like you said earlier,
- 33:38Speaker 5: I feel like these characters... can go anywhere, whether it's
- 33:41Speaker 5: like a real life situation or like we've done a
- 33:44Speaker 5: few that are much more, um, uh, fantasy.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Well let's go through some of them please um this
- 33:52Speaker 1: is a point of view the mean gaze attend your
- 33:55Speaker 1: baby shower yes and i love i mean.
- 33:58Speaker 5: I this one hit for a lot yeah yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 1: I remember i was with my stepdaughter this was so
- 34:03Speaker 1: long ago and i went to my friend she i
- 34:07Speaker 1: knew her from the groundlings and she was also a
- 34:09Speaker 1: facialist at ula henriksen which is like a famous place
- 34:12Speaker 1: And there were like these Beverly Hills women, you know,
- 34:15Speaker 1: waiting to get their facials. And I brought her just
- 34:16Speaker 1: to say hi. She was only three at the time.
- 34:19Speaker 1: And I didn't even tell my friend Robin I was
- 34:22Speaker 1: going to do this. But she walks out.
- 34:24Speaker 2: And I'm like, hi. She's like, hey. And I go, so,
- 34:28Speaker 2: you know, I told you about my daughter.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And she's three. And as you can see, I notice
- 34:33Speaker 1: when she laughs. There's some crinkling happening here. And she's
- 34:39Speaker 1: going for it. And these people in the place are like,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and I go, so I don't know, you know, if
- 34:45Speaker 1: we could just do like a quick facial, maybe some
- 34:48Speaker 1: oxygen steaming, you know, da, da, da, da. And I'm like,
- 34:51Speaker 1: I don't think we're ready for Botox yet, but I
- 34:53Speaker 1: think like preventive. Yeah. And oh my God.
- 34:57Speaker 2: And then finally we were like, we're joking, you know, dah, dah, dah, dah.
- 35:00Speaker 1: But it was, I thought that was so funny because
- 35:03Speaker 1: in one of the jokes in here, you were like.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Talk about the baby skincare.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Yeah. The baby skincare is something that, you know, is
- 35:08Speaker 1: very serious.
- 35:09Speaker 5: And it was just so good.
- 35:10Speaker 1: And I also love that like men, you know, have
- 35:13Speaker 1: so many female friends, but still they don't really understand. Like,
- 35:17Speaker 1: like I don't even like with my sons when I
- 35:21Speaker 1: remember one time I was like, You know, I said
- 35:24Speaker 1: to my older son, I'm like, I have to leave
- 35:26Speaker 1: the water park. I go, I need to get a tampon.
- 35:28Speaker 1: You know, my younger son didn't.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Know what it was. And he's like, what's a tampon?
- 35:34Speaker 1: And my older son goes, it's like a Band-Aid for
- 35:36Speaker 1: your vagina.
- 35:37Speaker 2: And like so loud. And then there were times where
- 35:41Speaker 2: I was like, finally, I'm like, you know, as we
- 35:43Speaker 2: talk about.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Women reproductive rights and stuff, I'm like, it's really important
- 35:46Speaker 1: that my sons know that like we have a period
- 35:50Speaker 1: for 40 years, for 40 years that we have to
- 35:54Speaker 1: buy tampons for and pads that are not provided for free.
- 35:57Speaker 1: And I'm guaranteed that if men had it, they'd be
- 35:59Speaker 1: in gas stations, take as many as you want and
- 36:02Speaker 1: that kind of thing.
- 36:03Speaker 2: And so I think.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Even with gay men that are so sensitive to women,
- 36:07Speaker 1: because they still don't know like what goes on or
- 36:11Speaker 1: how the baby, and like, neither do my kids. Cause
- 36:13Speaker 1: it's just like, you only talk about it to your daughter.
- 36:15Speaker 1: And so I thought that, I think it's so funny
- 36:18Speaker 1: putting them in these situations with their girlfriends.
- 36:20Speaker 2: They just don't know what's up.
- 36:22Speaker 4: They don't. And then like our characters act like they do, right?
- 36:25Speaker 4: They're like, oh, I know your beauty standards. Like the
- 36:28Speaker 4: gay beauty standards are crazy. When in reality, they don't
- 36:31Speaker 4: even align. The fact that women have to face like
- 36:34Speaker 4: all these beauty standards, it's not like, there's no similar
- 36:37Speaker 4: approach with that.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Men have it breezy. We can walk outside without a
- 36:42Speaker 5: lick of makeup, not wear makeup in any of our
- 36:44Speaker 5: videos and nobody will say a goddamn thing about it.
- 36:48Speaker 5: But if a woman, God forbid, filmed herself without makeup,
- 36:53Speaker 5: it becomes a thing.
- 36:54Speaker 8: Right.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You know, but when you were saying getting ready for things,
- 36:57Speaker 1: like that's another thing with like standup and stuff. Cause
- 36:59Speaker 1: like my husband would be like, Oh, Joe Coy. I'm like,
- 37:03Speaker 1: Joe Coy is bald.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Joe Coy just has to put on a cute outfit.
- 37:08Speaker 5: He's bald.
- 37:09Speaker 2: You don't have to do your hair. You don't have
- 37:11Speaker 2: to do lashes. You don't have to do lashes. You
- 37:14Speaker 2: don't have to do anything. And that's the difference when
- 37:15Speaker 2: you're a female comic too.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I think about my outfit. I do my own hair.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I have to blow it out.
- 37:21Speaker 4: If you pay somebody to do your glam, whatever.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I don't pay anyone. I just do it myself.
- 37:26Speaker 5: Clothes in the business place. I think about that all
- 37:28Speaker 5: the time. I've worked in a variety of Yeah. And,
- 37:31Speaker 5: you know, I noticed like, oh, the men can wear
- 37:33Speaker 5: the same thing every week.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:36Speaker 5: The women have so many different outfits.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Or like just you're an anchor.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Yeah. A man's in a suit every day and the
- 37:43Speaker 1: girl is like, and I'm like, oh, I've seen that
- 37:46Speaker 1: weather girl's orange dress before. Yeah.
- 37:49Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Like what?
- 37:50Speaker 5: It's stupid.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Like I think about the stylists or the wardrobe department
- 37:53Speaker 4: for like the presidential office.
- 37:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 4: And I'm like, so the first lady, mostly the first lady.
- 37:58Speaker 4: And then the president, the president, you know, has his
- 38:01Speaker 4: own stylist. And you're like, why?
- 38:02Speaker 5: Also, it's a suit every day. The president, nobody's going
- 38:05Speaker 5: to notice if they wear the exact same thing.
- 38:07Speaker 10: But the first lady, let's go. Yeah, I think about
- 38:09Speaker 10: that way too often, actually. This one was mean gays
- 38:14Speaker 10: invite you over to have a little fun. This is
- 38:16Speaker 10: really fun. So this is like two gays that are like, hey, guy,
- 38:19Speaker 10: come over.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Let's play.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Yeah. And you're a little disappointed in what shows up
- 38:24Speaker 1: at the door versus the.
- 38:25Speaker 5: A full-fledged catfish.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 4: That was the idea.
- 38:28Speaker 2: What do you say to the guy?
- 38:31Speaker 5: It starts off with, hey, come in. Do you want
- 38:35Speaker 5: some water? And he's like, oh, no, I'm okay.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Just pure apprehension the whole time, right? Like hesitation and like, I.
- 38:41Speaker 5: Don't think, you know. I think it's one of those
- 38:43Speaker 5: situations where like, and I've been in this, where I
- 38:45Speaker 5: decide immediately when I see someone, oh, we're not fucking.
- 38:50Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 38:50Speaker 5: OK, so you're already you came all this way and
- 38:52Speaker 5: now I feel awkward.
- 38:54Speaker 1: What do you do?
- 38:55Speaker 5: Shutting the door on you.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I need to know.
- 38:56Speaker 5: So maybe come in for a second. Then I'll like
- 38:58Speaker 5: lead you out the door in five minutes when I
- 39:01Speaker 5: when you notice I haven't kissed you yet.
- 39:02Speaker 2: OK, so how do you do that in real life
- 39:05Speaker 2: when you when you're.
- 39:07Speaker 5: Jake's not much of a hookup.
- 39:09Speaker 4: I'm not, but the truth is I'm a very direct person.
- 39:12Speaker 4: So I will easily, I won't tell somebody like, I'm
- 39:15Speaker 4: not attracted to the way you look. I'll be like,
- 39:17Speaker 4: something's just not feeling right. And I'll put it that way,
- 39:19Speaker 4: but I'm a very quick like, yeah, the vibes are
- 39:22Speaker 4: not right, babe.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Trust your gut if you're feeling like something's off.
- 39:25Speaker 4: You know, also like a silver lining can occur where
- 39:27Speaker 4: it's like, maybe they're not creepy. Maybe we definitely don't
- 39:31Speaker 4: have sexual chemistry, but actually just met a best friend.
- 39:34Speaker 4: Like sometimes they walk in the door, you hear their
- 39:37Speaker 4: voice and you're like, So no longer sexually attracted, but
- 39:41Speaker 4: our conversations lit and we just became best friends.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Yeah, my friend.
- 39:44Speaker 1: That's what's nice about, I think, like gays, gay relationships
- 39:49Speaker 1: and stuff. Because with a girl and a guy, either
- 39:52Speaker 1: the heterosexual traditional relationship is like either the guy's going
- 39:56Speaker 1: to be really offended or the girl's going to be
- 39:58Speaker 1: really offended. And there's no real difference.
- 40:01Speaker 2: They're not going to be friends.
- 40:02Speaker 1: You know what I mean? They're either going to be
- 40:03Speaker 1: felt like they were strung along or, you know what?
- 40:07Speaker 1: Girls are always like, just be honest, just be honest.
- 40:09Speaker 1: And then when they're honest and they're like, sorry I
- 40:12Speaker 1: wasn't attracted to you. It's like, hi, I want to
- 40:14Speaker 1: warn people about Jake.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Yeah, literally.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Jake, who lives in Atlanta. There's Facebook groups, baby. He
- 40:26Speaker 1: acts like he has his shit together. He rolled up
- 40:28Speaker 1: in a Honda. And, you know, we got together twice.
- 40:32Speaker 1: And then he just fucking goes for you. So I
- 40:34Speaker 1: want to warn you guys. And then you're like, oh,
- 40:37Speaker 1: my God. That's why I think a lot of straight
- 40:38Speaker 1: guys will do whatever it takes to have the girl
- 40:41Speaker 1: break up with them. I don't think they ever want
- 40:44Speaker 1: to be the bad guy in 2023, 24 with the
- 40:50Speaker 1: power that women have to make you look like the
- 40:54Speaker 1: worst human walking on the earth.
- 40:55Speaker 4: I was about to say, I know people shit on
- 40:57Speaker 4: straight men all the time these days, but.
- 40:59Speaker 5: I do think- I have two of them, so it's unfortunate.
- 41:01Speaker 5: I mean, they- So sorry for you.
- 41:03Speaker 4: They will get their flowers when they deserve them.
- 41:05Speaker 5: You only get their flowers.
- 41:07Speaker 4: I do think straight men and their erections make it
- 41:10Speaker 4: hard for- women and straight men to have platonic relationships.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Like they are sexually tempted more often than women, I
- 41:17Speaker 4: would say. And I think it's, there's a lot of
- 41:20Speaker 4: cool straight women and straight men that could have awesome
- 41:23Speaker 4: platonic relationships, but it's not as often because out of nowhere,
- 41:27Speaker 4: a guy would be like, this connection's actually kind of lit.
- 41:29Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden he's sexually aroused. And
- 41:31Speaker 4: you're like, no, this is supposed to stay platonic.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I had a platonic friend for like a year at
- 41:36Speaker 1: this awful job. I was awful at the job. And
- 41:39Speaker 1: he did all my work for me. I was an
- 41:40Speaker 1: assistant buyer at a department store. But it wasn't like fashion.
- 41:43Speaker 1: It was just like a bunch of computer shit.
- 41:45Speaker 2: I didn't know what to do.
- 41:46Speaker 1: And he was straight.
- 41:47Speaker 2: And we were besties. Why not, right?
- 41:51Speaker 1: And talking about my dates. We have so much fun.
- 41:54Speaker 1: We'd laugh about like friends or whatever was on TV.
- 41:58Speaker 1: And then... one day we're talking on the phone and
- 42:02Speaker 1: he only lived like 15 minutes away and we like
- 42:04Speaker 1: hang up and I'm just like, whatever.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And he shows up at the door and he's like, Oh,
- 42:07Speaker 2: I guess a little buzzed. And it's like out of
- 42:10Speaker 2: a movie.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I'm going to declare my love for you and like
- 42:13Speaker 1: try to make out with me. And I was such
- 42:17Speaker 1: a bitch. I laughed at his face and was like,
- 42:20Speaker 1: are you kidding me? Like, And then I look back
- 42:24Speaker 1: as the girl and now like having sons, and I'm like,
- 42:28Speaker 1: oh my God, I hope some girl doesn't do this
- 42:30Speaker 1: to my boys.
- 42:31Speaker 2: But as the girl, be aware of these things.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Like these friendships and giving signals and be respectful because
- 42:40Speaker 1: the guy probably is hanging out with you because he
- 42:43Speaker 1: is attracted to you and wants to make.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Out with you. I really respect. There's a friend of mine, Keith,
- 42:49Speaker 5: who probably he's straight married. He probably has the most
- 42:54Speaker 5: platonic girlfriends out of any couple. straight guy that I know.
- 42:57Speaker 5: And I love seeing that because it's such a, I
- 43:00Speaker 5: love it. It's such a unique thing. I think they'll,
- 43:02Speaker 5: they'll hang out one-on-one and like, but he, he and
- 43:04Speaker 5: his wife have such trust and, um, and also like.
- 43:08Speaker 4: He's married. So that changes it a little bit too.
- 43:11Speaker 4: I think it is very different when a single straight
- 43:14Speaker 4: man has platonic female friends, you know what I mean?
- 43:18Speaker 5: Like even so, I think when there's trust security and
- 43:20Speaker 5: there's not like a, a, a constant, uh, drive or,
- 43:26Speaker 5: motivation for like, I'm only speaking to you and befriending
- 43:29Speaker 5: you because sex. And, and so then they read every
- 43:34Speaker 5: signal as, Oh, she's flirting because she smiled. She laughed
- 43:37Speaker 5: at my jokes. Like, no, she just enjoys your company
- 43:39Speaker 5: because you're maybe a nice person. And she's being a
- 43:42Speaker 5: nice person. My roommate is gorgeous. And people assume that
- 43:48Speaker 5: she's flirting with them all the time. Like, no, she's
- 43:50Speaker 5: just charismatic and really hot. And smiled because she's nice.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:55Speaker 5: She's a good person.
- 43:56Speaker 4: But I bet people say that about you all the time.
- 43:58Speaker 4: But you're married, so there's this obvious divide.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Well, it's like, I think even throughout my time, there
- 44:05Speaker 1: would be comedians and stuff, male comedians, and I was
- 44:09Speaker 1: so grateful that they'd walk me into my car from
- 44:11Speaker 1: the improv so I wouldn't be mugged.
- 44:13Speaker 5: That is nice.
- 44:13Speaker 2: They'd give me tag jokes, but then they would want
- 44:15Speaker 2: to try to fuck me.
- 44:17Speaker 1: And then....
- 44:19Speaker 2: But then I have had a couple that I've had
- 44:22Speaker 2: a couple, you know, also in the comedy world.
- 44:24Speaker 1: And I can have really good friends, you know, like
- 44:29Speaker 1: Ian Edwards that just had the wrong day and showed
- 44:31Speaker 1: up on the same day, you know, and also Chris Frangio.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I don't think they were ever attracted to me. And
- 44:37Speaker 1: we had such a fun relationship because of comedy. So
- 44:41Speaker 1: I do think you can have a work like thing
- 44:44Speaker 1: and it not be that, but it is, it just
- 44:47Speaker 1: is a very interesting thing. And it's not, it's, you
- 44:49Speaker 1: can't really, what I think is, is just exploring people's different,
- 44:53Speaker 1: you know, sexualities and relationships is there are some similarities, similarities,
- 44:58Speaker 1: but mostly they're very different, right?
- 45:00Speaker 2: There's different rules. There's different things about it.
- 45:03Speaker 1: And I think for a long time, did you see
- 45:05Speaker 1: the movie Billy Eichner did?
- 45:09Speaker 5: Bros. Bros. I saw it.
- 45:11Speaker 2: I saw it.
- 45:12Speaker 1: And I, afterwards I told Billy, I go, what I
- 45:15Speaker 1: liked most about the movie is that you said it
- 45:17Speaker 1: out loud. Our relationships are not the same as a
- 45:21Speaker 1: heterosexual relationship. And I think for too long in the acceptance,
- 45:27Speaker 1: which has been great for like the last 30 years,
- 45:29Speaker 1: I think girls want to think that it's the same
- 45:33Speaker 1: or something. Oh, we have all these similarities. Oh, we
- 45:35Speaker 1: like the same kind of, and that's fine. We can't,
- 45:38Speaker 1: have similarities about, you know, partnerships and stuff. But there's
- 45:42Speaker 1: a whole different ecosystem.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Like there's a.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Whole different thing that just like we're, which I think
- 45:49Speaker 1: is just so interesting to like explore and talk about.
- 45:51Speaker 4: And there's a lot of gays that need to accept
- 45:52Speaker 4: that as well because they want this heteronormative looking relationship.
- 45:57Speaker 4: And it's like, you have to remember, we are two men.
- 46:00Speaker 4: We are different. We are not going to replicate this
- 46:02Speaker 4: female male relationship. you know, conditioning from all this media
- 46:06Speaker 4: we've seen our whole life. You know, it's not going
- 46:07Speaker 4: to be a Hallmark film for us unless we like
- 46:10Speaker 4: make fake snow and like throw it on the ground.
- 46:12Speaker 5: Unless you're Jonathan Bennett and produce your own Hallmark films. Yeah.
- 46:14Speaker 4: And then it's still a gay Hallmark movie.
- 46:16Speaker 2: You know what I mean? But you're very right.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:18Speaker 2: And that's why I like that movie.
- 46:20Speaker 1: But also I think, you know, in, you know, there's
- 46:22Speaker 1: female friendships are just like a very unique thing. thing.
- 46:28Speaker 1: And I think what's great about men is, and maybe
- 46:32Speaker 1: this is with gay men too, I would assume, is
- 46:35Speaker 1: they treat it differently. They aren't as sensitive. They can
- 46:38Speaker 1: get over stuff. They can like not talk to them
- 46:40Speaker 1: for a few years and it could be okay. And
- 46:43Speaker 1: women just get so like, how could that be? How,
- 46:47Speaker 1: you were my best friend and now it's so weird.
- 46:50Speaker 1: And I feel so, you know what I mean? It's
- 46:52Speaker 1: just a whole different thing, which I find so fascinating.
- 46:54Speaker 5: I think it depends on the person. I definitely have
- 46:56Speaker 5: those people that like, I go months without talking to,
- 46:59Speaker 5: and then we pick right back up. But then there
- 47:00Speaker 5: are people where I'm like, we haven't talked in a week.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Is something wrong? Is something, you know?
- 47:03Speaker 2: That's true.
- 47:04Speaker 5: Yeah. I also think going back to something earlier, I
- 47:08Speaker 5: think there are those gay men who, um, the majority
- 47:14Speaker 5: of their friends they've had sex with at some point
- 47:16Speaker 5: because everything started off as a grinder hookup or a
- 47:18Speaker 5: dating situation and, and then became friends. And then there's
- 47:21Speaker 5: people that like have friends who, Oh no, like that's
- 47:25Speaker 5: off limits. That's my best friend. I think that's where
- 47:28Speaker 5: a lot of my friendships fall into. Even some of
- 47:31Speaker 5: them where I'm like, dang, if they didn't give me
- 47:34Speaker 5: an opportunity and say, yes, even though we're friends, I
- 47:36Speaker 5: don't think it would ruin the friendship, but, um, you know,
- 47:40Speaker 5: one of, one of my good friends, uh, uh, one
- 47:42Speaker 5: of my best friends in Atlanta, it started off that way. I,
- 47:44Speaker 5: he came over, we just like connected on Instagram and
- 47:47Speaker 5: it was, um, a situation where I thought I was
- 47:51Speaker 5: catching signals of like, Oh no, this is going to
- 47:52Speaker 5: be a hookup and he's very handsome. And I realized
- 47:56Speaker 5: that he wasn't reciprocating any of the like little shoulder
- 48:00Speaker 5: things that I was doing on the couch. And, and
- 48:02Speaker 5: so finally I just checked in. I was like, Hey,
- 48:04Speaker 5: I want to, are we not? And he's like, I
- 48:08Speaker 5: really think you're a great guy and I would like
- 48:10Speaker 5: to be your friend. I think we have a lot
- 48:11Speaker 5: in common. I was like, okay, great. And I just
- 48:14Speaker 5: felt like it's such a mature moment situation is a
- 48:18Speaker 5: lot more seamless for us.
- 48:19Speaker 4: I think.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Like it's like, we still need each other. Like our
- 48:22Speaker 4: community is so small. It's like, if you see somebody
- 48:24Speaker 4: of value, you're like, I still need you.
- 48:26Speaker 2: You know, like, I'd rather not fuck this up, yeah. Yeah,
- 48:28Speaker 2: I can walk into.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Any Starbucks and meet a straightie, you know?
- 48:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and of course with women and men hooking up
- 48:35Speaker 1: and stuff, it's very rare that they can stay friends after,
- 48:40Speaker 1: and then the next person is like, you're not fucking
- 48:43Speaker 1: having lunch with your ex-boyfriend.
- 48:46Speaker 2: There's no way that this girl.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Is coming over, or is coming to our wedding that
- 48:51Speaker 1: you lived with for three years.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Like, enough.
- 48:53Speaker 8: Totally.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Like, what the hell are you talking about?
- 48:56Speaker 1: And 90% of heterosexual people would be like, I agree
- 48:59Speaker 1: with that.
- 48:59Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 49:00Speaker 5: I think that that exists in the gay world too.
- 49:01Speaker 5: The last, the last guy I dated for a little bit,
- 49:04Speaker 5: which we'd only been seeing each other for a week
- 49:06Speaker 5: at this point, but his best gay friend was coming
- 49:08Speaker 5: over for a movie night. I thought nothing of it,
- 49:11Speaker 5: but he sent me like this whole paragraph of like, Hey,
- 49:13Speaker 5: I just want to make sure that, you know, like
- 49:14Speaker 5: this is totally platonic. He and I have never hooked up.
- 49:16Speaker 5: We're just having a movie night. And I was like, Oh, okay.
- 49:18Speaker 5: We're not even officially.
- 49:20Speaker 6: Yet.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Like, thanks for telling me. But also it made me
- 49:23Speaker 5: feel sad for, I guess his previous relationships where maybe
- 49:26Speaker 5: there was like a shit ton of jealousy.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Someone probably was super jealous.
- 49:29Speaker 5: Like, Oh my God, you can't have another gay man
- 49:33Speaker 5: inside your apartment. Like that, that kind of control I
- 49:36Speaker 5: think is, I also try to like, hold things loosely
- 49:41Speaker 5: and not, like until it's a thing that I really
- 49:45Speaker 5: wanna hold on to. And I hadn't decided yet at
- 49:47Speaker 5: that point. And we, you know.
- 49:48Speaker 9: Good for you.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Good for you.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I can get cash out for me also.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Before we move past this slide, can I just point
- 49:53Speaker 5: out the fact that it says Trixie Mattel.
- 49:54Speaker 4: At the top.
- 49:55Speaker 5: Yes, we love Trixie. I think it's just because I
- 49:59Speaker 5: look like her. Oh my God, that's so funny.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Do you get that?
- 50:03Speaker 1: Oh, all the time.
- 50:03Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 50:04Speaker 5: Just because we're bald, white, gay men, but I'm sure
- 50:07Speaker 5: out of the 11,000 comments, Probably 2,000 of them say it, Trixie.
- 50:11Speaker 2: How did you guys come up with the mmm?
- 50:15Speaker 4: Girl, tone of voice. We wanted to be as bimbo
- 50:18Speaker 4: as possible, but like a gay bimbo. So it's a
- 50:21Speaker 4: mix of like a Kardashian, but like gay male Kardashian.
- 50:24Speaker 5: I also think the mmm is at the person a
- 50:27Speaker 5: lot of times as well. Like, oh, you're single? Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 50:33Speaker 5: I love it so much.
- 50:35Speaker 1: This is one of my favorite. This is me and
- 50:36Speaker 1: Gay's toast at your wedding. This is so hilarious. So
- 50:40Speaker 1: it's you guys are doing a toast for a female
- 50:43Speaker 1: friend of yours who you never thought would get married.
- 50:46Speaker 2: So it's all.
- 50:47Speaker 5: We're not a fan of her husband.
- 50:49Speaker 1: And you keep messing up the M name of the husband.
- 50:52Speaker 1: It's so fun.
- 50:55Speaker 2: I love it.
- 50:56Speaker 4: OK, this one's really cute.
- 50:57Speaker 2: OK, can I ask you to do one for me?
- 51:00Speaker 4: Please.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Of course.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Okay, so I invite you to my vow renewal, which
- 51:06Speaker 1: I've never had. Okay. I'm going to have it.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Is that actually coming?
- 51:11Speaker 1: I mean, I think vow renewals are so lame only
- 51:15Speaker 1: because any friend that I would invite- It's like different
- 51:21Speaker 1: than a wedding. Because in a wedding, someone's coming and
- 51:23Speaker 1: you're like, oh my God, you guys are so cute together.
- 51:25Speaker 1: I'm so excited for your future. A vow renewal, anybody
- 51:28Speaker 1: that's there is like either like, thank God you guys
- 51:33Speaker 1: made it.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Or they're like, this is a bunch of bullshit. They
- 51:36Speaker 2: fucking hate each other. So I just think that's weird.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Like if we did anything like that, I'd want it
- 51:40Speaker 1: to be like just my immediate family. But in this case,
- 51:45Speaker 1: I'm going to have a big to-do. And it's a big,
- 51:49Speaker 1: it's for our 24th wedding anniversary. I'm not going to
- 51:52Speaker 1: wait till 25 because the year might, the world might end.
- 51:55Speaker 5: So true.
- 51:55Speaker 2: And I'm really excited to invite you guys to make
- 51:59Speaker 2: a toast.
- 52:01Speaker 5: What's your husband's name?
- 52:02Speaker 1: Peter.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Peter, great.
- 52:03Speaker 4: So Paul, I mean.
- 52:05Speaker 5: Pedro.
- 52:05Speaker 4: Pedro, Peter. It's just, we are honored to be here
- 52:09Speaker 4: today to celebrate something that I think you guys just
- 52:11Speaker 4: wanted more security on, you know, such as your relationship.
- 52:15Speaker 5: Yeah. Not everyone does a 24 year wedding renewal, but
- 52:22Speaker 5: you know, you guys had an idea and you went
- 52:25Speaker 5: for it and that's so brave.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:27Speaker 4: And I just feel like it's beautiful that you feel
- 52:29Speaker 4: like you need to prove something to all of us
- 52:31Speaker 4: that your relationship is super healthy and secure when really,
- 52:35Speaker 4: you know, I would say Paul, I mean, what's his name?
- 52:41Speaker 1: Paul.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Pablo.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Pablo.
- 52:43Speaker 4: When your relationship with Pablo is just, you know, we
- 52:45Speaker 4: see the things behind closed doors because we're so close.
- 52:49Speaker 5: And Pasquale, you really bring a lot of the... You
- 52:54Speaker 5: really bring a lot more personality to Heather because she,
- 52:59Speaker 5: as we all know, is lacking in that department.
- 53:01Speaker 4: Yeah. We can tell you both really need one another.
- 53:05Speaker 5: A big part of her personality is just saying that
- 53:07Speaker 5: she's married.
- 53:08Speaker 1: And so.
- 53:10Speaker 5: But Heather and Paul, good luck.
- 53:15Speaker 4: Good luck. We wish you the best. And we will
- 53:18Speaker 4: see if we see you next year.
- 53:20Speaker 5: Thanks, Brian.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Excellent.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Excellent.
- 53:23Speaker 5: That was off the cuff. We tried to involve that baby.
- 53:26Speaker 1: I will say that I have joked and said staying
- 53:28Speaker 1: married is my brand.
- 53:31Speaker 2: And a lot of people don't.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Do it for the kids.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I do.
- 53:35Speaker 2: I do it to give other people hope. To stay married.
- 53:38Speaker 5: So important.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Because anytime a big couple breaks up, they're like, no!
- 53:41Speaker 1: Like Kyle and Maurice do at Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
- 53:44Speaker 1: People are like, we're done. We're done. We thought you
- 53:47Speaker 1: were going to live forever and stay together forever.
- 53:49Speaker 5: I do think if Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively ever
- 53:53Speaker 5: broke up, my heart would shatter. Oh, the world would
- 53:55Speaker 5: be rocked.
- 53:55Speaker 4: The economy would tank.
- 53:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:57Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 53:57Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 53:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:58Speaker 2: See, that's a lot of pressure on them.
- 54:00Speaker 7: It is.
- 54:00Speaker 8: It is.
- 54:01Speaker 2: What if she's miserable and then she knows that you
- 54:03Speaker 2: guys are gonna be devastated?
- 54:04Speaker 5: With Ryan, let's be real. Well, also, like, celebrities of
- 54:07Speaker 5: that caliber, too, like, they don't, unless they are traveling
- 54:12Speaker 5: with them. Let's be real. I'm saying, unless they're traveling
- 54:14Speaker 5: with them, you see each other one month out of
- 54:17Speaker 5: the year total. Like, he's always off filming a movie,
- 54:19Speaker 5: so is she. Like, everybody's doing their own things. Like,
- 54:22Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:23Speaker 1: I think their marriage is much better than Justin Timberlake
- 54:25Speaker 1: and Jessica Biel.
- 54:26Speaker 2: I'll give them.
- 54:27Speaker 5: Let's hope.
- 54:28Speaker 2: What about Scarlett Johansson and what's his name?
- 54:31Speaker 5: I know from Colin.
- 54:32Speaker 8: Yes.
- 54:33Speaker 4: I like them.
- 54:34Speaker 2: I think they're solid. They have a kid, right?
- 54:36Speaker 5: Sure.
- 54:36Speaker 4: I also think that was like an unthought of connection
- 54:40Speaker 4: that nobody really saw coming.
- 54:41Speaker 5: I just want to look at Aaron Goldenberg White. I
- 54:45Speaker 5: just want to look at all those.
- 54:46Speaker 1: All I did on the TikTok is I just wrote
- 54:49Speaker 1: mean gays and then all of it stopped.
- 54:52Speaker 5: It gives suggestions for what it thinks the video related
- 54:56Speaker 5: terms might be. So I just I'm obsessed with that.
- 54:59Speaker 1: So this one was mean gays come to your funeral.
- 55:02Speaker 1: I really want to talk about your costume choices. I
- 55:05Speaker 1: was about to say the wardrobe department on this one.
- 55:07Speaker 2: You went with a great look, which is a blazer,
- 55:10Speaker 2: no shirt.
- 55:11Speaker 5: Thank you. Thank you so much.
- 55:12Speaker 2: And you look like you created a shirt that had cleavage.
- 55:16Speaker 2: So what's crazy is that shirt was bought. That was
- 55:19Speaker 2: a shirt for sale.
- 55:20Speaker 4: It's made for men.
- 55:21Speaker 5: Is it in the men's department? It's made for men.
- 55:23Speaker 4: And my breasts look huge. Your breasts are huge. I mean,
- 55:26Speaker 4: not in this photo, but like once I get.
- 55:28Speaker 5: Closer, it was... We really... We could not.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Keep a straight face because I was just like, I
- 55:33Speaker 4: was given the full show.
- 55:34Speaker 5: The bloopers are full of Jake going like, oh my God,
- 55:37Speaker 5: I look ridiculous.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Like I said, I love the bloopers, but doing a
- 55:42Speaker 1: funeral is so great. I... I worked on this show
- 55:45Speaker 1: called Lyricist Lounge, and I came up with this idea
- 55:48Speaker 1: because I found that one thing I loved doing would
- 55:52Speaker 1: be when I was a little girl and just normal
- 55:55Speaker 1: TV was on. There would be a funeral for a
- 55:59Speaker 1: cop or something on the KTLA 5 channel. And I
- 56:03Speaker 1: loved watching funerals. I loved hearing all the speeches.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 56:08Speaker 5: How old were you?
- 56:09Speaker 2: I was like.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Six.
- 56:11Speaker 2: I watched a lot of TV. My parents worked.
- 56:13Speaker 1: That explains a lot. And I was like, I want
- 56:15Speaker 1: to be. So I created this character with this other
- 56:19Speaker 1: guy who played my gay assistant. And we did this call.
- 56:22Speaker 1: And I was a funeral stylist. And I was like,
- 56:26Speaker 1: let's do the music. And we're like, we're not doing
- 56:28Speaker 1: Stairway to Heaven. It's been way too done.
- 56:30Speaker 5: Too many times.
- 56:30Speaker 2: We are not doing that. We're going to do something
- 56:32Speaker 2: fresh and different. And da, da, da, da.
- 56:35Speaker 1: And so I love people doing. making light of like
- 56:39Speaker 1: the worst thing on earth, which is death. And so
- 56:41Speaker 1: the fact that you did like an open casket and
- 56:44Speaker 1: you guys coming and the camera is looking up from
- 56:46Speaker 1: the dead person and you're still giving shade.
- 56:48Speaker 2: So funny.
- 56:50Speaker 4: I'm so glad you think so.
- 56:51Speaker 5: This is my personal favorite.
- 56:52Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 56:53Speaker 4: Genuinely.
- 56:53Speaker 5: How did you.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Think of this one?
- 56:57Speaker 5: Honestly, it was just a day where I was typing out,
- 57:02Speaker 5: like just kind of, brainstorming all the different possibilities of
- 57:05Speaker 5: like where we could take these characters and funeral came up.
- 57:07Speaker 5: I was like, that's fucking hilarious. I need to write
- 57:10Speaker 5: this immediately. And yeah, I do.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Um, you know, like we were talking about, it's Octopussy, right?
- 57:14Speaker 1: With that, the guy on TikTok, is that his name?
- 57:17Speaker 1: The one that does all the like, um, historical things.
- 57:20Speaker 5: Um, Past that puss.
- 57:22Speaker 1: I don't think I know this guy.
- 57:23Speaker 5: It's past that puss.
- 57:24Speaker 1: And they're like, they'll say like, act like you're John,
- 57:28Speaker 1: act like you're the person signing after John Hancock and
- 57:31Speaker 1: how much space he took. And then he does, but
- 57:33Speaker 1: he does it as like a person today.
- 57:35Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Like so annoying, you know, like it's really, really funny.
- 57:39Speaker 2: He's blown up.
- 57:39Speaker 5: He's like, I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's hilarious.
- 57:43Speaker 1: And like, or, you know, like Abraham Lincoln buying his
- 57:47Speaker 1: signature hat.
- 57:48Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:49Speaker 2: And like first there's another hat and then how he
- 57:50Speaker 2: falls on it.
- 57:51Speaker 5: He literally just does, he does video. It's brilliant.
- 57:53Speaker 2: But it's a lot of suggestions.
- 57:55Speaker 5: He takes suggestions from the comments. From the people.
- 57:58Speaker 1: So how are you starting to get suggestions that have
- 58:01Speaker 1: given you any ideas of like, we want to see
- 58:02Speaker 1: the Mean Gays go to visit Santa or whatever?
- 58:06Speaker 5: We, There are a fair amount of like suggestions like, oh,
- 58:10Speaker 5: the Mingay should babysit or whatever, which, and there have
- 58:16Speaker 5: maybe only been two comments ever in all the videos
- 58:20Speaker 5: that have like really sparked my imagination.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Oh, that's a good idea.
- 58:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:23Speaker 5: Oh, that's really fucking funny. Yeah, that's funny. But I
- 58:26Speaker 5: don't think we've gone on to like then make that video.
- 58:31Speaker 5: I'm not against it, but it's also like, I mean,
- 58:34Speaker 5: when you get to 4,000 comments, there's no way I can,
- 58:37Speaker 5: scroll and read and respond and really take all those in.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Okay, I was like so conceited.
- 58:44Speaker 4: I was thinking the same thing.
- 58:45Speaker 5: I was like, okay, girl, shit.
- 58:46Speaker 2: I'm sorry, you have 4,000 comments. You can't expect.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Those comments are just on Instagram. That's not even the
- 58:51Speaker 5: TikTok comments.
- 58:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 58:52Speaker 4: I feel like we hear a lot of suggestions from
- 58:56Speaker 4: like close friends.
- 58:57Speaker 5: We do, yeah.
- 58:58Speaker 4: A lot of close friends will be like, you should
- 58:59Speaker 4: actually do this. That'd be amazing.
- 59:00Speaker 5: And close friends, so Sarah, the girl that was behind
- 59:05Speaker 5: the camera for the baby shower one, I had written
- 59:08Speaker 5: it out, but she came out with like several good
- 59:12Speaker 5: pitches for like brand new scenes that we had to
- 59:15Speaker 5: plan for. And we did them because I was like,
- 59:16Speaker 5: that's fucking funny.
- 59:18Speaker 4: We're open-minded girls. We like to improv on the spot.
- 59:20Speaker 4: If we deliver a line and we need to retake
- 59:23Speaker 4: it or it sounds better and it'll hit harder a
- 59:25Speaker 4: different way, we just go.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Well, I love like discovering when people are doing strong characters,
- 59:31Speaker 1: like a series like on TikTok and I've brought several
- 59:33Speaker 1: people on the show because of it.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Cause it's like, that's really was.
- 59:36Speaker 1: My background as Groundlings was like, you know, these strong
- 59:38Speaker 1: characters and point of view and stuff.
- 59:41Speaker 5: I'm sorry, did you go to Groundlings?
- 59:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 59:42Speaker 5: You've only mentioned it.
- 59:43Speaker 1: A couple times, so I just wasn't sure. I know.
- 59:44Speaker 1: I mentioned Groundlings, USC, being Catholic, and being married.
- 59:48Speaker 5: And being married. Every show.
- 59:49Speaker 2: Oh, you're married. And everyone really... Do.
- 59:52Speaker 4: You ever time how often you say it?
- 59:54Speaker 7: No, but the.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Haters, they like to.
- 59:56Speaker 4: They were like 30 seconds in on this one.
- 59:59Speaker 1: The haters are the best because they're like, when I
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: come across their hate on their groups or whatever, they'll
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: be like, I don't listen anymore to Juicy Scoop, but...
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: At the 36th minute, she went off and tried to
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: take credit for this.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh my God, this is amazing.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: You definitely don't listen.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Anyway, but I did this character. Now, it's another thing
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I talk about is Chelsea Lately. So when I did
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: this character, Chelsea Lately, it was Chelsea's makeup artist. And
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: we'd be on the road and I would just be like,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: she is a know-it-all. She's like this woman, but like
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: she's lived this life that there's no way she could
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: have done all these things.
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: So then- Like very much giving Alexis from Schitt's Creek.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: And so I was like, so then I would, they'd
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: be like, oh, you know, Kathy Griffin is coming. Or
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I did it one time with Kelly Osbourne. And I
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: would do her and I called her Regina. And her
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: real name was Gina. And then like Chelsea's like, I go, Chelsea,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: like this still is your makeup artist. And she still
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: said what I'm dealing with. And she knows I'm doing her.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: And so I'm like, she's like, I don't care. It's
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: fucking hilarious.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: That's why I fuck with Chelsea.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: And then I'm like, so then.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I'd have to do, and I'd be like, actually, to
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Kelly Osbourne, I was like, I actually wrote the song,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: whatever the most famous song was. I was like, yeah,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I was hanging out with your dad. It could have
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: been your mom. So she can show a little respect.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: And Kelly Osbourne's like, I don't know what you're talking about.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: And you know what I was like, and I'm doing
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: like a horrible makeup artist. I never am doing anything
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: to their face. And I'm just like talking about, I'm like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I'm actually like almost a heart surgeon. I went to
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: medical school and like that kind of thing. And I
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: think that's, what's so funny when you, when you land
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: on something good or Becky Robinson, she does this thing
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: called the entitled housewife. And she is like this woman
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: who plays golf, who's definitely an alcoholic and has two kids.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: And I love her.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: She's going to come on the show. She's a really
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: funny standup, but then she, but she started doing this character.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: She had these other characters she did, but sometimes something
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: just hits. And it's cool because then with her, there's
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: a huge audience.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Like if she goes to.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Florida, All these women come and they wear the visor
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: and they wear their golf outfits.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: And they're like, we all have to go.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: And so that's why I think it's fun what you
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: guys are doing. I love that this girl wrote, I
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: found one of the mean gays and this was Fashion
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Week or something.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Someone was trying to.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: Get in and the gay bouncer or whatever this person was.
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I don't remember what happens in this video. I just
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: know he's like is telling her off. and checking her heart.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: I remember it was pretty vicious.
- 1:02:40Speaker 9: It was like, ooh!
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: It went very viral.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: I was like, you really found this video. Love it.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so funny.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: And then there is the point of view, the thirsty
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: gaze invites you over for some fun. Now, I thought
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: these were some of your friends that you helped self-produce,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: helped produce this for them.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Like a little extension, a little empire.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: A little Ryan Murphy franchise.
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: Yeah, universe.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: So one thing I've noticed with all these great creators
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: like yourself and creative improv character study people is I've
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: noticed people are doing like derivative type of stuff. You know,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: like a girl that's now holding her keys, but she
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: doesn't work at the restaurant. She's an obnoxious teacher. You know,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: something like that. And that's coming from another girl that
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: was the girl working at the restaurant, whatever. Have you
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: found that there's anybody that's kind of doing derivative people
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: of you sketches?
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: We've been either sent or seen on our timelines. Definitely
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: like people that have either done like their own spin
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: on it or like there was one guy that did it,
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: the complete script, but just in Portuguese, you know, which
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: obviously would be for a brand new audience that we're
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: not reaching. So I think sometimes it's... But that's not cool, right?
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: I think sometimes it is flattering where I'm like, hey,
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: a new audience is getting that joke.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be the proper way to be to stitch it?
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: Or hopefully at least tag and give credit. I think
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: that's the biggest thing. This was so cool. We wanted
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: to translate this for other audiences.
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: For me, I think when there's an extension.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: I think the biggest thing is giving credit. I think
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: if anybody on TikTok or Instagram or wherever... made their own,
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: like the mean gays, blah, blah, blah. I'd be like, Hey,
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: that's kind of our thing. Clearly our thing. We've made
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: like 20 videos at this point, you know, like, um,
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: maybe come up with your own idea. I don't know.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: But I, I think, I think the, the line gets
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: so blurred on social media, unfortunately, because there's so many
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: things that come out as like a trend. So like
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: somebody did the joke first and it's like a five
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: second music clip and it's this very funny punchline and
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: then a 10,000 people do that same thing. And it's like, oh,
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: you did the water challenge or whatever it is. So
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: people then see these original written sketches and like, oh,
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: this is like the mean gaze trend or the whatever trend.
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: It's like, well, no, actually this is a little bit different.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it really is like the wild, wild
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: west of like, you know, entertainment.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: It's really hard.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: And also, you know, even with stand-up, it would be
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: people would accuse someone of taking their jokes. And you'd
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: be like, well, I mean, we can all come. Tinder
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: is a big topic. Like, maybe my Tinder joke is
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: similar to yours. I've heard very clearly word for verbatim jokes.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that was this guy first.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: I've accidentally done it myself.
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: Explain accidentally.
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: Okay, I will. So I've actually posted a video talking
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: about straight men are so gay for like loving football
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: and going into stadiums and watching guys wrestle in leotards.
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: I fully put the video out. I had never seen
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: content like that before. And then there was a standup
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: reel that came across my page, pretty much going into
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: the same concept. And it's the idea of like, these
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: thoughts are no longer that original and we're struggling for
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: these threads of originality and the crossover of like, I'm
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: so sorry. So I commented in the video I saw
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: realizing it was posted before mine saying like, I'm so sorry.
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: There's a video on my page that performs pretty well.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: This was truly out of like just innocent intent for
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: me to speak to.
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: I think, I think things like that.
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: Well, they never got back to me because their video
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: was huge and.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: I don't think it was ever an issue, but when
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: you do come across ideas that are similar to yours,
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: such as like a lot of people are playing on
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: like this Hallmark trend recently.
- 1:06:23Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: And it's like, people have been joking about Hallmark movies
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: for like seven years, you know? Yeah.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: And how many different ways can you do that? Can
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: you really blame somebody for playing on the classic tropes and.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: Like, almost the exact same line. Yeah. So it's, it's,
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: it's a wild, wild west. I've had that happen before though, where,
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: some big historical event happens or like, especially during the
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: Trump administration, there was like material for days. And like,
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: I would be, I would think of this joke from
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: something that, from an interview or something that happened and
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: be like, oh, that'd be funny. Maybe I'll film that tomorrow.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: And then tomorrow when I haven't filmed it, I see
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: a guy with the exact same video concept that I'm like, oh,
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: it really just is about who jumps on it first.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Right, which is why I said it is important to
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: jump on it first if you have the idea. And
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: there's times where I'm like, oh my God, I know
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: so many people are going to do that. And sometimes
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: they don't, you know, but.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: That's, you know, what is true.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: And I also feel that like, What I've learned, and
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: thank God I'm like a creative person, whatever. And I
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: have gotten frustrated with, you know, the imitation or whatever.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: But at the same time, it's like when you dig
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: it to a certain level and then you call out
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: like a smaller creator, it.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Can also make you look really bad.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: And it's almost better just to be like. whatever.
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: I've let most of them go. I DM'd one creator
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: because it really was joke for joke, our video. And
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: they just put a slightly different twist on it, but
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: it was joke for joke, angle for angle, everything. And
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: they didn't credit us. So I was like, hey.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: And what was their response?
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: As a fellow writer, blah, blah, blah. You guys did
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: a really funny thing. I would just appreciate if you
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: decide to do anything more with these characters that maybe
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: it's an original concept and not shot for shot our thing.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: And they responded back In a nice way, thankfully. It
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: was pretty amicable. And they were like, I'm so sorry.
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: We literally didn't even know this video was going to
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: blow up. And yes, don't worry about it. I'm going
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: to credit you right now in the comments. And also,
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: any new videos, if we decide to do these characters again,
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: will be something original.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: It is just sometimes frustrating when somebody copy copy.
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: But I DMed them. I didn't call them out in public.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: I didn't make a post about it and be like, wow, somebody,
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: you know, I feel like that can come across tacky
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: in some ways.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: If you guys ever.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Need to do something more, you could just create Classy Gays.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: It's a classy move. I don't think it'll be as funny.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: As Mean Gays.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: I don't think it'll hit as hard.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: I don't think it'll be as funny.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Watch, it won't.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: Then you'll have to go back to the Mean Gays.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: I think it would be like we tried to clean
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: up our act and we called it Classy Gays.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: I did a character that was like just the rich
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: gay uncle and I was like super affluent and just
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: making the most just... ignorant comments of all time and
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: that was really cute.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I think I saw that, yeah.
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: Okay, maybe I'll play on that a little bit more
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: but yeah, I think the idea is like Hopefully the
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: original intent and all this is you just giving like
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: this idea kind of felt in the vein of like,
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: for me, I've made a few videos that are in
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: the vein of Benny drama or Benito Skinner, who I adore.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: And I think because I adore him so much, I've
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: made content that is kind of a little bit of similar, similar.
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: And I always just say like, this feels really in
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: the same vein. It's out of love, but I always
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: credit it.
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: So it's kind of like, and I've told you every
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: single time I'm like, I know that, Benny's not going
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: to see this and get offended because you're not stealing
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: his jokes. You're not stealing a character. You just are
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: a quirky, funny gay like Benny. And I love him.
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: I love him, love him. So hopefully it's all out
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: of love.
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: Personally, I don't think anybody would see Jake's video and
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: be like, oh my God, he's totally stealing, you.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Know, because he's still writing his own original stuff. Things
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: that might've bothered me even two or three months ago,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I'm proud to say I'm like evolving and it really
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: doesn't bother me anymore because when I really think about it,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I'm like, this is not going. So another thing my
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: dad said, you mentioned your dad twice today.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: He's dead.
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: It's okay.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: And I said, yeah, stop bragging that you're an orphan.
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: I wish my dad was done.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: No, but it was, it was like, what would I
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: even say?
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: What would my dad, what would my dad say?
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: She's like, what did my dad always say?
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: It's not going to.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Change my lifestyle.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: It's not going to change.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Someone isn't stealing the Coca-Cola sign from you. And this
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: was your home.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: It's one little thing. You're not going to lose your house.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: You're not going to have to start driving a different car,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: you know, but there are certain things that other people
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: do that can be damaging to like your character, your brand.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: And it's like copywritten or whatever. And I say, go
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: for that. But I do agree with like, To go
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: like after someone, you know, might not be worth it.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: I think we're trying to build like this common decency
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: with creators where it's just like we're always going to
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: cross paths with like originality, whatever that means. So hopefully
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: we just create a culture of like giving the flowers
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: when it's needed, putting up a post saying like this
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: was a lot like this and I love them.
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: But I do think. It is, my opinion flips when
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: it's a larger creator that steals from a smaller creator
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: and doesn't give credit. Oh yeah.
- 1:11:25Speaker 10: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: That's like the punching up, punching down.
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: And there was a, I can't remember her name right now,
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: but I was talking about it before we started where
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: she did like all these different people you meet on
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: a movie set. So like the director, the producer, the
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: makeup artist, the craft services. And she did that years ago.
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: And all of a sudden, I guess like a month ago,
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: this other large creator with millions of followers or a
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: lot of followers, copied the exact same thing, shot for shot,
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: even used the same song. And a lot of people
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: were tagging the original creator who this creator did not tag.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: And she was going through deleting all of their comments.
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: And then the creator got wind of it because a
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: lot of people had sent it to her. And so
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: she commented like, hey, a tag would be nice, deleted
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: her comment. So she did make a thing about it.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: And that I do agree with. I think that's justified.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: I totally agree. And you know what could also be
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: happening in a case like that is, and I think
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: this has happened when stand-ups have been accused of stealing
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: material or whatever. Like, I remember work, well.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: I don't think I've mentioned this, but I think about it.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: So when I worked on.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Keaton Everway's late night talk show, he had a late
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: night talk show as my first job and I was
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: 27 and he liked doing like evergreen monologues. So they
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: weren't about politics or anything. They were just like, you know, roommates,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: having a roommate, whatever. and someone would pitch something, or
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: he would even come up with something funny, and the
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: writers in the room would go, Keenan, that's really funny,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: but Joe Schmo has a bit like that. And he
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: was like, cool, that's what you guys are here for.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: You're out in the clubs, you need to tell me, da-da-da-da,
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: I don't want to know.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: And I always, so when a bigger person is accused
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: of it, and it's pretty much they did, I'm like,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: who was around her or him that didn't do their job,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: that might have been lazy, And also, say this bigger
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: creator that took this idea. We don't know if she
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: hired somebody who brought that.
- 1:13:27Speaker 8: As an idea.
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: Who said, hey, there's a fun trend you should do.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Brought or not even trend. I have a funny idea.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Because they remembered it from three years back and this
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: girl or guy didn't. And then there are the ones
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: also that are all like, holy fuck, I got caught.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: They're the ones who's actually in charge.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Of deleting all the stuff. So I'm saying this person
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: might be totally innocent.
- 1:13:46Speaker 10: Sure.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: And they don't, they, you know, didn't deliberately steal anything
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: because a lot of people at that level are like, hey,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: I've got three, two or three people working with me
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: I want you guys to bring me ideas I want
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: you to tell me what the latest trend is I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: want you to come up with fresh ideas for me
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: and this has happened I remember in um oh my
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: gosh I forgot his name but he was a writer
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: on SNL years ago and he wrote a book about
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: it and he told a story of how he was
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: desperate for pitching he had to pitch ideas as a
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: he just kind of remembered something from the clubs and
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: he pitched.
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: It and it made it.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: And in the book, he absolutely like.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Admits, you know, it. And I remember reading it and
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: I was like, that's just something to be really conscious
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: of all of us. And even sometimes when I say
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: something like, and it's coming to my head, I'm talking about,
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know where I saw this.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: I just know it isn't mine.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I know it's not mine, but I thought it was
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: funny because I don't want anyone to say that I
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: took something. And lots of times I do give credit,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: but other times I don't because if I'm talking for
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: an hour, I mean, I don't want to stop. Yeah,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: but I don't want to act like I thought of
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: it originally.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: There was a time, again, I think during the Trump
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: administration where I was really into watching Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers,
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: and probably Jimmy Kimmel or something. And there had to
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: have been 15 or more times where they posted basically
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: the same joke on the same night because that piece
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: of wordplay or whatever came in and the joke just
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: came naturally. So I'm sure they're completely separate writing teams
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: who weren't intentionally trying to steal anything from each other
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: made the exact same joke. It doesn't really happen anymore.
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: So maybe they're a bit more intentional about it or
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: try to go further removed from the first thought of
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: whatever punchline came naturally. But I saw that happen so
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: many times and I was like, damn, this is so interesting.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: I think it's kind of, I think as a creative person,
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: you got to let that shit go.
- 1:15:48Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: You know, and it's like I had, I had Chris Frangelo,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: a comedian on my show, and he said a really
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: funny joke. And that night, Jimmy Kimmel or somebody said
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: the same joke. Now, it could have been what you said.
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: Or.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Someone could be listening to Juicy Scoop and they're getting
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: ready that morning. They go to the offices. They have
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: to submit their jokes. They heard the topic. It's a
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: hot topic. I mean, there were times when we would
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: watch American Housewife or something.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: It was a sitcom.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: And my kids would watch it and I would watch it.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: And there was stuff in there that was like straight
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: out of my special. And I'm not necessarily accusing someone
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: of that. But it was pretty specific.
- 1:16:32Speaker 8: I'll do it.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: I've accused them.
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: It was pretty specific.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: Jokes and things.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: And I'm like, listen, I understand if you're a writer
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: on a sitcom and it's about a family, I would
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: be following female comics that have families. I would be
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: looking at really popular YouTube. You can't blame someone. And then,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: you know, it wasn't word for word, but it was
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: like a concept, like a story I told that happened
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: with my family.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: And then that same story was like displayed on the show.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: And, but I was always, I was like, Who cares
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: when you're gonna file a lawsuit over it? No, you're
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: just gonna come up with something else. And it's better
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: just to let it go. But it is annoying when
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: you see somebody come up with something that copied you
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: and it has so much love and the comments are like,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: you're hilarious, you're so original. And you're sitting in your.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Apartment and you're like, I came up with it first.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: But then if you make a big deal out of it,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: then they're like, the mean gays have become unhinged.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: They're hysterical.
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: They're egotistical.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: They're the worst.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: And, you know, they really are mean.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: And then it's better that you're like, yeah, I think
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: you handle it really correctly.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: One last thing I want to do before we plug
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: all your stuff.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: Love.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I want the mean gays, not the real people in
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: front of me, the mean gays.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: What you're going to say.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: To each other as you enter the elevator after I
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: say goodbye to you about what you experienced today as
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: the mean gaze.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: So I will not take offense.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: So you saw as much pink as I did, right?
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: Yeah. And did you also smell the quinoa as soon
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: as we walked in?
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: It was really strong.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: It was just like was on our breath the whole time.
- 1:18:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: And do you think she just like steps into every
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: interview just that willy-nilly?
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't seem like she prepared at all. Also,
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: her assistant seems miserable and probably isn't getting paid.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's child labor laws because it's her son.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: It's her son.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: Yeah, okay.
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: But I think there's a law like if it's family,
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: you don't have to pay them.
- 1:18:30Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:18:30Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: I don't really hire my family for stuff.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 1:18:34Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: Oh, this is our car.
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: Yeah, it's our car. Here we go.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: That was perfect. I love it. That was perfect.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: The quinoa actually was the first sensation I had when
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: we walked in or whatever it was that you were eating.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: I was eating a meal from Fat It is one
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: of the sponsors of Juicy Scoop.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: And it was delicious.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: It smelled good.
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: It was all healthy.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: It was vegan.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: And it took two minutes in the micro. And I
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: had a healthy meal.
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: Juicy Scoop, sponsored by Factor. Yeah, exactly. Get your first
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: 50 meals for free on Heather. Right.

- 1:19:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: Jones with the Z. No S.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: And this is Instagram. And are you.
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: This is the same handle on both Instagram and TikTok.
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: I'm also trying to make it on YouTube. So we're
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: crossing our fingers here.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: I love it. Okay.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: And you?
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: Aaron.
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: Aaron Goldie boy in all the places. Instagram, Twitter, TikTok.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Oh, that's cute that you took Goldenberg and made it
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Goldie boy.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: Yeah. A friend of mine in high school used to
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: call me Goldie and I just thought it was cute
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: and endearing.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: They called my brother-in-law who's Goldstein. is they call him Goldie.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: And then I'll call my nephew and stuff when he's
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: playing tennis.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: I'm like, come on, Goldie.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: So when I was making a username eventually when I
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: decided to join Instagram, I was like, Goldie boy, that's cute.
- 1:19:53Speaker 8: Wow.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: Look at that. And it's A-A-R-O-N. That's correct. Goldie boy.
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: Goldie boy.
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: That's it.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: You guys are really killing it.
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: And you were in the Grinch. Here in L.A.? I.
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: Mean, How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Pantages.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: What was your role?
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: I played Papa Who, Cindy Lou Who's dad. Daddy Who?
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: Daddy Who. It's Daddy Who to you.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: You're a zaddy?
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: Yeah, we're at the Pantages. It's a gorgeous theater.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: Yes. When's the last night of that?

- 1:20:25Speaker 5: and then we close in Sacramento.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Oh, that's fun. Yeah.

- 1:20:31Speaker 8: Yes.

- 1:20:33Speaker 4: I'm still doing content full-time, and then I'm working on
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: my first musical EP.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: That's what you're doing on Christmas Eve? I said what
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: you're doing for the holidays.
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: Oh, for the holidays.
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: I have no plans. I've got the smallest family, and
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: I think we're going to play it really cool. We
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: do something for Christmas Eve.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: And your family lives in the same town? Atlanta area. Yeah.
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: That's really nice.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Well, I love your friendship. I hope you don't break
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: up and it get ugly. I wish you successful 2024.

- 1:21:10Speaker 1: And like have a fun meal. Have a fun meal
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: and be bitches together.
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: Let's do it. That's possible.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: Anytime you want.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: I'm very, very young.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: I love it.

- 1:21:23Speaker 2: No, there's two glowing delights.
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: She confirmed it.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: She did.
