- 0:34Speaker 2: Kilowatts of power. provide more cooling in the containment chambers.
- 1:02Speaker 5: To your stations, we.
- 1:05Speaker 6: Have a movie meltdown.
- 1:13Speaker 5: Cowabunga!
- 1:17Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:18Speaker 7: I'm Brian.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I'm Christian.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:22Speaker 1: Fandom Fest. So Christian, how's your day been?
- 1:27Speaker 4: It's been a day at A wonderful Phantom Fest 2015.
- 1:33Speaker 8: We're currently watching Dr. Eugene from Walking Dead playing Duck Hunt.
- 1:38Speaker 4: And we were watching some kid get mowed down on
- 1:40Speaker 4: this blow up thing with a spinny deal on it.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Called Meltdown.
- 1:46Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 1: We're standing here.
- 1:49Speaker 8: One of them is like a bouncy castle with an
- 1:50Speaker 8: arm ready to take out goofy kids like this one that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: May have just gotten laid out. And then the little
- 1:56Speaker 1: arcade set up over here where Dr. Eugene, fake Dr.
- 2:00Speaker 8: Eugene from Walking Dead has decided to wander over and
- 2:03Speaker 8: play Duck Hunt.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Which is pretty entertaining.
- 2:06Speaker 4: It's pretty entertaining that he's been going at it for
- 2:08Speaker 4: a while now.
- 2:09Speaker 8: It's not like he did a couple and wandered off.
- 2:11Speaker 8: He's been here for like 10 minutes.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Maybe he's like a Duck Hunt pro.
- 2:15Speaker 8: Hardcore fanatic.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Yeah. So it's been pretty interesting watching that. And then
- 2:22Speaker 4: we had a Kevin Nash from WWE fame over there
- 2:27Speaker 4: talking to that other dude. Just hanging out. No big deal.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Just hanging out.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He's just people. They're just like us.
- 2:37Speaker 4: They put their pants on one leg at a time.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That's not how I do it.
- 2:41Speaker 8: Anyway, so if nothing else, let's kick things off with
- 2:45Speaker 8: Geek Activities.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Have you seen anything lately?
- 2:48Speaker 4: Actually, I just watched Cake last night.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I heard someone's take on cake the other day.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Did it take the cake?
- 2:58Speaker 8: It seems interesting.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I feel like I'm still trying to process it.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It seems kind of heavy.
- 3:06Speaker 4: It's heavy. The ending had this whole little bit more
- 3:12Speaker 4: uplifting resolution. I don't want to give any spoilers because
- 3:16Speaker 4: I know you're probably going to check it out. This
- 3:21Speaker 4: seems really superficial. But it was really nice seeing Jennifer
- 3:25Speaker 4: Aniston in a less than attractive role.
- 3:28Speaker 9: Like, she looked....
- 3:31Speaker 4: She looked the part that she was playing.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That's pretty much what we were discussing the other day.
- 3:35Speaker 8: I was like, you know, it's one of those I
- 3:38Speaker 8: always kind of want to write off Jennifer Aniston.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Like.
- 3:41Speaker 8: Her goofy romantic comedies, which is another to sidetrack here.
- 3:45Speaker 8: I do not understand how they kept giving them to
- 3:47Speaker 8: her because.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I don't know that any of them made money either.
- 3:50Speaker 8: Like most of those weird big budget romantic comedy kind
- 3:53Speaker 8: of standard rom-com bullshit.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Like none of them really did that well at the theater.
- 3:59Speaker 8: Like she for as much money as she made on TV,
- 4:01Speaker 8: like theatrically, she never really pulled in a ton of money.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Maybe that was just to supplement her income so that
- 4:08Speaker 4: she could.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Tax write-off.
- 4:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Something. Because, I mean, I've just now come to terms
- 4:16Speaker 4: with the fact that I don't feel like I have
- 4:18Speaker 4: to hide that I love cheesy, bullshit rom-coms. I love them.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Jennifer Aniston.
- 4:27Speaker 1: All right, you don't have to, but it might be recommended.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Jennifer Aniston... Any of the ones that she was in,
- 4:37Speaker 4: never really cared for.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Again, most of them I haven't seen.
- 4:40Speaker 8: And the only time she's good in stuff is usually
- 4:42Speaker 8: when she's, like, a secondary character.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Sure.
- 4:45Speaker 8: Like, any of the ones that she was lead in,
- 4:47Speaker 8: I either never watched them because the trailers looked so bad,
- 4:50Speaker 8: or what I.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Saw of them, I'm like, wow, this is just a
- 4:52Speaker 1: bad movie.
- 4:53Speaker 8: Like, she might be all right in it, I guess,
- 4:55Speaker 8: doing her standard traditional thing.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But, yeah, it's just not a good movie.
- 4:59Speaker 8: So I don't know if that's all they were giving
- 5:01Speaker 8: her were those big, dumb, big-budget scripts.
- 5:03Speaker 1: But, like.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Well, and it seems really strange. I mean, I guess
- 5:07Speaker 4: it's just... You know, every star kind of goes through their... Like,
- 5:11Speaker 4: they have their heyday. And, you know, they're the big name.
- 5:14Speaker 4: And so she's in Friends. And she's Rachel from Friends.
- 5:17Speaker 4: But I feel like it was almost a misstep in
- 5:20Speaker 4: her career to be in all of these movies because
- 5:22Speaker 4: you don't see her as anything but Rachel.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Pretty much.
- 5:26Speaker 8: But every time she'd turn in a weird indie film
- 5:29Speaker 8: performance that was good, you'd be like, oh, yeah, she can. Like,
- 5:33Speaker 8: every time I watch one, I'm like, oh, yeah, she
- 5:34Speaker 8: is actually a decent actress.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Like, she just.
- 5:37Speaker 8: doesn't get to do it much in these big, dumb rom-coms.
- 5:41Speaker 4: And that's what I appreciated about Cake. I mean, maybe
- 5:46Speaker 4: she has done something in the past few years, but
- 5:49Speaker 4: I can't really think of much.
- 5:52Speaker 8: Again, not a lead, not her traditional rom-com, the Life
- 5:57Speaker 8: of Crime. It's the one that Jennifer Prediger, her husband,
- 6:03Speaker 8: I think it's her husband, husband or boyfriend, directed it.
- 6:06Speaker 8: And she has a really bit, actually, she's almost completely
- 6:10Speaker 8: cut out if you watch it.
- 6:11Speaker 1: But I watched it just because she talks so much
- 6:14Speaker 1: about it.
- 6:15Speaker 8: And then I also remembered, oh, yeah, this is the
- 6:17Speaker 8: one that is basically, it's the same writer that wrote
- 6:20Speaker 8: Jackie Brown.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So it's the same characters. Samuel L.
- 6:25Speaker 8: Jackson and Robert De Niro and Jackie Brown, these are them,
- 6:28Speaker 8: but it's prequel-like, so it's years before, and it's played
- 6:31Speaker 8: by two other awesome actors in this version. But it's
- 6:35Speaker 8: a good story. It is a solid, well-written screenplay. That
- 6:40Speaker 8: director does a great job with it, and everybody's performance
- 6:43Speaker 8: is good, including Jennifer Aniston is the spoiled housewife that
- 6:47Speaker 8: gets kidnapped. And so, yes, she can play that because
- 6:51Speaker 8: she brings a little bit of spoiled Rachel to the table.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And then it goes a little deeper and you're like, oh, yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 1: she can act. I kind of forget.
- 6:57Speaker 8: She's actually a decent actress. If you give her something
- 7:00Speaker 8: with some meat on it, she can actually do it.
- 7:02Speaker 9: Sure.
- 7:03Speaker 4: And, you know, with Cake, I actually I started it
- 7:06Speaker 4: and I had to watch it in two settings because.
- 7:11Speaker 4: it wasn't that it was too heavy, you know, I mean,
- 7:13Speaker 4: it is heavy and it's, you know, kind of depressing
- 7:16Speaker 4: and it's going through, you know, a traumatic, it's going,
- 7:19Speaker 4: you know, this woman has a traumatic experience and, um,
- 7:23Speaker 4: you know, she's just dealing with the aftermath of it.
- 7:26Speaker 4: She's dealing with chronic pain, not only physically, but emotionally
- 7:31Speaker 4: and things are, things are going on. And so, okay.
- 7:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 4: It's, it's kind of dark and sad, but I was
- 7:35Speaker 4: just kind of like, I don't know. I just kind
- 7:38Speaker 4: of wasn't in the mood for it. So then I
- 7:40Speaker 4: had to go back and finish it. And I didn't
- 7:43Speaker 4: have to rewatch it because it.
- 7:45Speaker 1: It stuck with you.
- 7:45Speaker 4: It stuck with me enough. But it wasn't like, oh
- 7:49Speaker 4: my gosh, this is so sad. I'm going to go
- 7:51Speaker 4: bawl my eyes out. But I mean, I feel like
- 7:53Speaker 4: she turned in a pretty solid performance. You know, of course,
- 7:57Speaker 4: she's an attorney. I mean, a former attorney in L.A. So,
- 8:03Speaker 4: of course, she's still playing... a somewhat spoiled... Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 7: You know.
- 8:08Speaker 1: That's not the worst casting.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Affluent, you know.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It's then just giving her something good to do with.
- 8:13Speaker 7: Sure.
- 8:14Speaker 4: So, I don't know. I feel like it was good.
- 8:17Speaker 4: It was worth a watch. Will I watch it again?
- 8:19Speaker 4: Probably not. But I'm glad that I watched it because
- 8:22Speaker 4: I feel like it was... It was a good... It
- 8:24Speaker 4: was a decent movie. And again, like you were saying,
- 8:28Speaker 4: it reminded me that Jennifer Aniston can act in something
- 8:32Speaker 4: other than, you know.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Dumb comedies.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Dumb comedies.
- 8:37Speaker 8: Again, it's one of those, like, I think she doesn't
- 8:40Speaker 8: have that much, but then I go back and, like,
- 8:42Speaker 8: the good girl.
- 8:43Speaker 1: She's really good in that.
- 8:45Speaker 8: Like, she is just, again, it was just such an
- 8:48Speaker 8: indie movie and such a weird, like, pretty early performance
- 8:52Speaker 8: from Jake Gyllenhaal. And, like, it's just such a great
- 8:54Speaker 8: little indie movie that you're like, man, she probably got
- 8:57Speaker 8: nothing for doing this.
- 8:58Speaker 1: And she did it just because it was a great screenplay.
- 9:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And even, like, she's the one. I really love she's
- 9:04Speaker 1: the one.
- 9:04Speaker 9: She's, like, well.
- 9:06Speaker 8: Like, she's not even a third-end character. Like, she's, like,
- 9:08Speaker 8: four or five in on that cast. Total supporting role. And, like,
- 9:13Speaker 8: has some decent scenes. Like, kind of, you know, it's
- 9:16Speaker 8: well-written dialogue. And she, again, proves she can do something
- 9:19Speaker 8: with that.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So, it's one of those that kind of, yeah, I always,
- 9:23Speaker 1: at knee-jerk reaction, write her off. It's like, eh, whatever.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Nobody liked Picture Perfect. But then you go back and look.
- 9:28Speaker 8: And I'm like, oh, yeah, she actually did a lot
- 9:31Speaker 8: of other good, usually all the indie stuff.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And, like, she can do decent stuff. She just needs
- 9:37Speaker 1: to do.
- 9:37Speaker 7: More of it.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I actually made the mistake of not too long ago
- 9:41Speaker 4: going back and watching Picture Perfect because I was like,
- 9:43Speaker 4: I think I liked this. I don't remember.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And I'm not very good with turning off movies when
- 9:50Speaker 4: they're bad. Why is the General Lee coming our direction?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Because we're lucky. It's heading right for us.
- 9:58Speaker 9: Yeehaw.
- 10:03Speaker 4: I'm always curious when I see the General Lee. My dad's.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There it is. There we go.
- 10:11Speaker 4: One of my dad's friends has a General Lee.
- 10:14Speaker 7: Nice.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I'm always curious.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Woohoo!
- 10:21Speaker 4: That's a heck of an exit.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But anyway, I.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Tried to go back and watch Picture Perfect and didn't
- 10:30Speaker 4: shut it off and immediately regretted my decision as soon
- 10:34Speaker 4: as it was over. Wasted moments of my life.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Yeah. It was so bad.
- 10:40Speaker 9: So bad.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Even, you know, being the rom-com lover that I am,
- 10:45Speaker 4: I do have my limits. I'm also distracted by the
- 10:49Speaker 4: fact that I think Dr. Eugene is finally.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh, he wandered off, yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 1: He wandered off a minute ago.
- 10:55Speaker 4: He's broken the record of the duck hunt and made
- 11:00Speaker 4: his way to probably one of our finest establishments on
- 11:04Speaker 4: 4th Street.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Or he just got really upset that that dog kept
- 11:07Speaker 1: laughing at him. Damn you!
- 11:09Speaker 4: Stupid dog, I'm out of here! So much anger was
- 11:13Speaker 4: directed at him in my childhood.
- 11:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 1: There was many a controller got thrown. That gun. You
- 11:20Speaker 1: gotta be surprised they worked after the abuse that probably
- 11:23Speaker 1: most kids put them through.
- 11:25Speaker 9: Sure.
- 11:25Speaker 1: You cheated! Stupid controller!
- 11:28Speaker 9: Shut up!
- 11:29Speaker 7: Shut up laughing! Yep.
- 11:31Speaker 1: This is most of our childhood. Have you been to
- 11:36Speaker 1: the theater lately? It's possible. I went one time or so.
- 11:46Speaker 7: A couple.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I've been wanting to go see Trainwreck.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I can't decide. I've heard such mixed reviews.
- 11:59Speaker 4: I just like Amy Schumer. I like Amy Schumer. I
- 12:02Speaker 4: know she's big right now and that's the thing. I
- 12:06Speaker 4: have mixed feelings on how I feel like Trainwreck is
- 12:08Speaker 4: going to be, but I still want to see it.
- 12:12Speaker 8: As awesome as Amy Schumer is, I hear it's more
- 12:15Speaker 8: Judd Apatow, less Amy Schumer.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 8: At least in the style of what you end up
- 12:20Speaker 8: with and the screenplay and the comedy overall.
- 12:23Speaker 1: It's not the Amy Schumer show, which is what everybody
- 12:26Speaker 1: really wants in a movie.
- 12:27Speaker 8: But at this point, you might as well just watch
- 12:28Speaker 8: the Amy Schumer show and get your fix.
- 12:32Speaker 4: This is going to drive me crazy. It's why I
- 12:33Speaker 4: remember when it was the last thing.
- 12:35Speaker 10: I saw in the theater.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Jurassic Park?
- 12:38Speaker 9: That was it.
- 12:39Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Jurassic World.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Jurassic World it is. We have a winner. And your
- 12:45Speaker 1: thoughts on Yoshi.
- 12:47Speaker 10: Oh, wait.
- 12:48Speaker 8: We're thinking of that shirt we saw earlier with Chris
- 12:50Speaker 8: Pratt surrounded by three Yoshis.
- 12:52Speaker 4: That was on, like, a gray shirt.
- 12:54Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 8: They really needed to, like, give you some color options.
- 12:58Speaker 8: It's a little too light for me.
- 12:59Speaker 4: It's not white, but it's cream color. And I just
- 13:01Speaker 4: feel like it's just going to look really bad before
- 13:03Speaker 4: too long.
- 13:04Speaker 8: Being someone who frequents horror conventions, you know, you usually
- 13:07Speaker 8: want nothing but black t-shirts.
- 13:08Speaker 1: But I also am a fan of gray.
- 13:11Speaker 8: I like to branch out with my gray t-shirts. But
- 13:14Speaker 8: cream color, that's a little too light for me.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's too much. Too much. But yeah, I saw
- 13:19Speaker 4: Jurassic World. I'm sure it's been discussed in.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Not at great length.
- 13:26Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 13:27Speaker 1: What were your thoughts?
- 13:28Speaker 8: Because I've talked to people who love it, and I've
- 13:32Speaker 8: talked to people who were just kind.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Of like, yay.
- 13:35Speaker 4: I'm curious to know, with the people who loved it,
- 13:39Speaker 4: what was the age group?
- 13:41Speaker 1: It depends.
- 13:42Speaker 8: I talked to somebody the other day that was like
- 13:45Speaker 8: early 20s, but then I was listening to a show,
- 13:48Speaker 8: and they were.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Like late 30s and loved it. So I guess it's
- 13:52Speaker 1: like kind of hit and miss.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 4: I found just from the people that I've talked to and,
- 14:01Speaker 4: you know, the groups that I kind of tend to
- 14:04Speaker 4: hang with, mostly people at work, if they have any
- 14:09Speaker 4: loyalties to the first movie, they're going to absolutely hate
- 14:15Speaker 4: this last one.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Depending on how you look at it.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Even as a standalone, it was pretty awful. It was
- 14:23Speaker 4: pretty bad. There were parts of it that... I mean...
- 14:27Speaker 4: Chris Pratt's a golden boy right now.
- 14:29Speaker 8: He is, but he proves you still have to have
- 14:32Speaker 8: something to do to really come off good because he
- 14:36Speaker 8: coasts on the fact that he's still looking pretty hot
- 14:38Speaker 8: these days. He's slimmed it down and he looks good
- 14:41Speaker 8: and he's just a really likable guy.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He is.
- 14:45Speaker 8: But it's not like Guardians of the Galaxy, he's got
- 14:48Speaker 8: a lot to deliver there. That screenplay is so much fun.
- 14:52Speaker 8: His dialogue is so much fun and so well delivered
- 14:55Speaker 8: by him, whereas.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Jurassic World, he has nothing to say.
- 14:58Speaker 4: He has nothing to go on. And I wouldn't even
- 15:02Speaker 4: say that he phoned it in because, I mean, he
- 15:04Speaker 4: didn't have to make any effort because he wasn't given anything.
- 15:08Speaker 4: The dialogue in that entire movie is awful. Like, it's
- 15:12Speaker 4: delivered poorly by every character. It's pretty predictable, which a
- 15:18Speaker 4: lot would say that, you know, the first Jurassic Park
- 15:21Speaker 4: was somewhat predictable enough.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I feel like that first one still holds up.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I really think it does.
- 15:28Speaker 7: I think it's wonderful.
- 15:29Speaker 4: I mean, not all of the dialogue was perfect. I mean,
- 15:33Speaker 4: some of it was pretty cheesy, but it's a great movie.
- 15:36Speaker 1: But it was tongue-in-cheek kind of thing. It knew it
- 15:39Speaker 1: was playing with how cheesy it was being that first
- 15:41Speaker 1: time around.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Jurassic World? Oh, my gosh. Would I group it in
- 15:45Speaker 4: with the second and third Jurassic Parks? Probably not.
- 15:50Speaker 8: They have a lot of issues. I definitely liked it
- 15:54Speaker 8: more than... It's been a long time since I've seen
- 15:57Speaker 8: the other two. I feel like I liked it and
- 15:59Speaker 8: had more fun with it than the latter two.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Yeah, the latter two, I think I've intentionally put them
- 16:05Speaker 4: out of my head. People have had to remind me
- 16:08Speaker 4: what happened in them.
- 16:09Speaker 8: Except the last 15 minutes of the second one, which
- 16:11Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure is the only reason Spielberg came back.
- 16:14Speaker 7: Sure.
- 16:14Speaker 8: Because he's like, well, I kind of want to make
- 16:16Speaker 8: a Godzilla movie, but people will probably give me shit
- 16:18Speaker 8: if I make a Godzilla movie.
- 16:20Speaker 9: Right.
- 16:20Speaker 1: So how about I just turn my movie into a
- 16:22Speaker 1: Godzilla movie?
- 16:23Speaker 9: Right.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So that's the only part that has any... It's sad
- 16:26Speaker 1: that any original feel to it when really it's just
- 16:28Speaker 1: ripping off Godzilla movies. But the whole.
- 16:30Speaker 8: First three-fourths is just rehash of the same movie, only
- 16:35Speaker 8: done not as well.
- 16:36Speaker 1: But I feel like there's scenes that.
- 16:37Speaker 8: Are almost hitting the exact same beats from the movie
- 16:40Speaker 8: right before it. So I feel like that second one
- 16:43Speaker 8: is too familiar until you get to that move into
- 16:46Speaker 8: the city portion.
- 16:47Speaker 7: Right.
- 16:47Speaker 4: With Jurassic World.
- 16:53Speaker 9: You know, when you're.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Watching an action movie, there are certain action movies that,
- 16:57Speaker 4: I mean, for instance, I don't know, any of the
- 17:01Speaker 4: diehard movies.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Epic, classic action films.
- 17:06Speaker 7: Right.
- 17:06Speaker 4: But there's a lot of things that you can overlook
- 17:10Speaker 4: for the sake of a cheesy action movie. Because Jurassic
- 17:14Speaker 4: World isn't necessarily categorized as an action movie or I
- 17:19Speaker 4: wouldn't think of it as totally an action movie. in
- 17:23Speaker 4: that same vein as, like, you know, die hard or whatever,
- 17:27Speaker 4: there were a lot of things that it was like,
- 17:30Speaker 4: you just were totally careless with this, weren't you? I mean,
- 17:34Speaker 4: that is so not, I mean, yeah, you're talking dinosaurs and,
- 17:38Speaker 4: you know, dinosaurs that are coming back and they're being
- 17:40Speaker 4: engineered and all this stuff. So, yeah, I mean, you've
- 17:43Speaker 4: accepted that. But, I mean, it's just little things that,
- 17:47Speaker 4: I mean, the whole, like, I don't know. This is
- 17:52Speaker 4: just a nitpicky thing with me, but I guess because
- 17:55Speaker 4: I wasn't approaching it from the standpoint of it being
- 17:57Speaker 4: a total action movie, when they go in and find
- 18:00Speaker 4: the jeeps that are sitting there, all I could think was,
- 18:04Speaker 4: those things wouldn't start because that gasoline is bad. Gasoline
- 18:08Speaker 4: goes bad after just a few years, and you cannot
- 18:11Speaker 4: run an engine on it. It started right up.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:14Speaker 9: It started right up.
- 18:15Speaker 4: But, like, I mean, you know... things you can't overlook
- 18:19Speaker 4: like I said but I don't know it just really
- 18:21Speaker 4: bothered me and then they have the whole like plot
- 18:23Speaker 4: holes and then they introduce things that they never address
- 18:26Speaker 4: again like the whole divorce thing with the kids and
- 18:28Speaker 4: and what the heck like what are you doing.
- 18:33Speaker 8: I feel like the I feel like the action aspect
- 18:37Speaker 8: is the part where it worked for me like I
- 18:40Speaker 8: feel like in the end I enjoyed the big dumb
- 18:43Speaker 8: fun that was dinosaurs running around And the one thing
- 18:47Speaker 8: they did that was a big, in this case, kind
- 18:50Speaker 8: of improvement for the kind of dumb fun it was
- 18:52Speaker 8: trying to be, was they way upped that body count. Like,
- 18:55Speaker 8: it is just insanity. Like, compared to, like, that first one,
- 19:00Speaker 8: there's hardly anybody.
- 19:01Speaker 1: On the island.
- 19:02Speaker 8: A couple of people will die. You know, it's like,
- 19:04Speaker 8: there's some people get injured, so a couple of people die.
- 19:07Speaker 8: And then they escape. Like, it is just mass hysteria
- 19:11Speaker 8: and people dying.
- 19:12Speaker 4: In Jurassic World. And nobody's exempt from that.
- 19:16Speaker 8: They really just sort of dial up the chaos. And
- 19:20Speaker 8: they're just like, let's have fun with this. Want to
- 19:22Speaker 8: attack a bunch of kids with pterodactyls?
- 19:23Speaker 1: All right, let's go. Like, they just kind of don't care.
- 19:27Speaker 8: They sacrifice all of that to just the fun of
- 19:30Speaker 8: the insanity and chaos that it becomes when everything is
- 19:34Speaker 8: let loose.
- 19:35Speaker 1: That kind of works for me.
- 19:37Speaker 4: I did really enjoy that last scene. I mean, the
- 19:40Speaker 4: culminating scene. It feels kind of like the last.
- 19:44Speaker 1: And that's the thing. It was funny.
- 19:46Speaker 8: I heard somebody say this the very next day after
- 19:49Speaker 8: I saw it. They were like, because I'd kind of
- 19:52Speaker 8: made my comment that Chris Pratt has nothing to do.
- 19:55Speaker 8: I really like Bryce Dallas Howard. Nothing to do. She's
- 19:59Speaker 8: for such a strong actress.
- 20:00Speaker 7: Oh, my gosh.
- 20:01Speaker 9: She really likes.
- 20:03Speaker 4: It hurt me watching her.
- 20:04Speaker 1: It really did. She's so good and doesn't have anything
- 20:07Speaker 1: to do in this.
- 20:08Speaker 8: But I was like, the next day somebody came up
- 20:10Speaker 8: and was like, you know, it's pretty sad when the
- 20:12Speaker 8: most character development in the movie is from a velociraptor.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Blue is awesome. Like, by the end, Blue has a
- 20:20Speaker 1: story arc.
- 20:21Speaker 8: I was like, that's, on the one hand, kind of
- 20:24Speaker 8: impressive because not only is he a dinosaur, but he's
- 20:27Speaker 8: a CG thing. Like, he's not even physically there. But
- 20:30Speaker 8: you do start to like him. You start to see
- 20:33Speaker 8: some sort of, like, personality to him. And, like, it
- 20:37Speaker 8: is pretty interesting that they put that much time and
- 20:39Speaker 8: effort into a dinosaur when their human characters really have
- 20:44Speaker 8: little personality.
- 20:45Speaker 9: No.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I mean, they're just not given much to work with
- 20:47Speaker 4: at all.
- 20:48Speaker 1: But, yeah, I like Blue.
- 20:50Speaker 8: Blue is kind of, like, Blue and just General Havoc
- 20:53Speaker 8: is what saved the movie for me. I still ended
- 20:55Speaker 8: up liking it. I still think it's fun. I have
- 20:58Speaker 8: been saying that a lot lately, too. But, yeah, I
- 21:01Speaker 8: feel like it's not great because of that, you know,
- 21:04Speaker 8: that screenplay setup and character development.
- 21:08Speaker 1: But the one thing I heard.
- 21:09Speaker 8: That somebody else mentioned, I went, all right, this is
- 21:11Speaker 8: kind of interesting and I feel like I want to
- 21:13Speaker 8: rewatch it because of this. They were discussing how interesting
- 21:17Speaker 8: it is and how the one thing where it feels
- 21:19Speaker 8: like maybe the director is self-aware and put a lot
- 21:23Speaker 8: of thought into this is how much he's playing with
- 21:26Speaker 8: revisiting that. Like the fact that they go back to
- 21:29Speaker 8: the old park, the fact that they bring in all that.
- 21:31Speaker 8: So they're almost like making this social commentary on like, okay,
- 21:35Speaker 8: this is how messed up the world was in the 90s.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Look where we are today. Now look how much insanity and,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you know, just bloodbath that this is all going to become.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:45Speaker 4: This was a bad idea to begin with and we're
- 21:47Speaker 4: just going to capitalize on it. And you know, like it.
- 21:50Speaker 7: Just, there's a little of that.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I think there's some truth to it.
- 21:53Speaker 8: Like I do think that he, the director is at
- 21:56Speaker 8: least aware that it's not, cause that's the thing you
- 21:58Speaker 8: were talking about earlier, being a standalone, like watching it.
- 22:00Speaker 8: I'm like, it's not a standalone. Like it is a
- 22:02Speaker 8: true sequel, but, Maybe even skip over the other two,
- 22:06Speaker 8: which I guess they still kind of count them as canon.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I think you're.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Supposed to just forget that the other two happened.
- 22:12Speaker 1: It's like the only thing they comment on is the
- 22:14Speaker 1: first movie.
- 22:15Speaker 8: So this really is sort of a straight sequel, just
- 22:18Speaker 8: revisiting it years later and then kind of commenting on...
- 22:22Speaker 8: how ridiculous these ideas were, and then how much more
- 22:26Speaker 8: ridiculous as a society we are now when not only
- 22:28Speaker 8: are we recreating dinosaurs, but we're going to genetically engineer
- 22:32Speaker 8: an even more deadly, vicious, giant dinosaur.
- 22:36Speaker 4: That whole thing, one of my friends was pointing all
- 22:40Speaker 4: of this out too. Okay, so we're going to create
- 22:43Speaker 4: a bigger, scarier, crazier dinosaur. Even the guy who is
- 22:50Speaker 4: running all of this has no idea what is going
- 22:54Speaker 4: on with this dinosaur. And then they're just like, oh,
- 22:57Speaker 4: we use DNA from this, this, and this. But we
- 22:59Speaker 4: have no idea what it does. You know what I mean?
- 23:02Speaker 8: That all sounds pretty legit, actually. It sounds like something
- 23:05Speaker 8: our government would play.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Let's try this out.
- 23:07Speaker 4: But it wasn't government funded is the thing.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It wasn't government. But again, as a way to turn
- 23:12Speaker 1: this into a weapon for the military. Which is kind
- 23:14Speaker 1: of how the plot goes.
- 23:16Speaker 4: It is until it doesn't anymore. All of a sudden
- 23:18Speaker 4: it's just done.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Cause lots of people die. Yes.
- 23:23Speaker 4: There's lots of dead. Um, but I don't know. It's just, uh,
- 23:30Speaker 4: it was hard for me. It was a hard pill
- 23:31Speaker 4: for me to swallow. Like a lot of it was,
- 23:34Speaker 4: it was.
- 23:35Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 23:36Speaker 8: I think I didn't have giant expectations going in, so
- 23:39Speaker 8: the fact that it delivered, at least on the fun
- 23:42Speaker 8: dinosaur attacking people aspect, I was okay with, and I
- 23:46Speaker 8: was like, I kind of was afraid there was going
- 23:47Speaker 8: to be, you know, not a ton of character development,
- 23:50Speaker 8: so I just went in expecting.
- 23:52Speaker 1: That and was hoping to have fun, and I did
- 23:53Speaker 1: have fun. I liked it. I don't love it.
- 23:56Speaker 8: I think it's got a lot of problems, but I
- 23:58Speaker 8: like it just because of the general dinosaur attack fun
- 24:01Speaker 8: that They seemed like that's more what they were interested
- 24:03Speaker 8: in doing.
- 24:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 4: I mean, that was pretty fun.
- 24:06Speaker 9: It is.
- 24:07Speaker 4: The pterodactyls just taking people out was pretty great. And
- 24:13Speaker 4: then the poor babysitter. I mean, the poor, poor babysitter.
- 24:18Speaker 4: They just played with her until that big old thing
- 24:22Speaker 4: came up and chomped her.
- 24:23Speaker 1: What are you going to do?
- 24:25Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 24:25Speaker 4: It was pretty fun.
- 24:27Speaker 7: But, yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 4: If I'm going to go watch one of those dinosaur
- 24:30Speaker 4: movies again, it's probably going to be the first one.
- 24:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 8: I mean, again, that's the classic one of the bunch
- 24:36Speaker 8: that I still feel like holds up.
- 24:38Speaker 1: As a movie.
- 24:39Speaker 8: But when it comes up, you know, pops up on streaming,
- 24:43Speaker 8: am I going to watch Jurassic World again? Yeah, I'll
- 24:45Speaker 8: definitely watch it again. I want to re-watch it for
- 24:48Speaker 8: the other aspect there. And just because I want to
- 24:50Speaker 8: see more dinosaur attack fun. I don't know.
- 24:53Speaker 7: I mean, I.
- 24:54Speaker 4: It may come across the screen again, but I don't
- 24:57Speaker 4: know that I'll sneak it out. Oh, one advantage I
- 25:02Speaker 4: was going to say, another advantage, obviously, that the first
- 25:05Speaker 4: one has over Jurassic World is Jeff Goldblum. I mean,
- 25:09Speaker 4: you know.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Many people out there have a thing for Jeff Goldblum.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I don't know what it is. He's a weirdo, but
- 25:15Speaker 4: it's Jeff Goldblum. I mean, you know. Jurassic World?
- 25:20Speaker 9: You get B.D.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Wong, what more do you want?
- 25:24Speaker 4: But, yeah, I don't know. I wasn't super thrilled with
- 25:26Speaker 4: Jurassic World, but.
- 25:28Speaker 9: You know.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Well, I don't know what you're going to do. Dinosaur
- 25:32Speaker 1: attack fun.
- 25:32Speaker 8: Do we want to go wander around this and see
- 25:34Speaker 8: if anybody's getting attacked by any CG creatures?
- 25:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that probably might not be a bad idea.
- 25:40Speaker 2: All right.
- 25:40Speaker 4: See if, you know, Blue's around to kind of keep
- 25:44Speaker 4: everybody in check.
- 25:46Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 7: All right.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Let's go wander around.
- 25:49Speaker 7: Blue, you're my boy!
- 25:50Speaker 9: Blue!
- 26:14Speaker 5: Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it

- 26:28Speaker 5: 1587 Bardstown Road or in the East End at 2915

- 26:37Speaker 5: Doo-Wop Shop. We're serious about music.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Golden, pure, creamery butter. Rich, flavorful, satisfying. That's what it
- 26:44Speaker 2: takes for the finest buttered popcorn, and that's what we use.
- 26:47Speaker 6: See for yourself why there's no Showtime treat to equal
- 26:50Speaker 6: the crisp, delicious flavor of hot popcorn that's bathed in
- 26:53Speaker 6: real melted butter.
- 26:55Speaker 2: It's at the concession stand now.
- 27:00Speaker 8: And now let's talk with director, producer, screenwriter, and special
- 27:03Speaker 8: effects creator, Robert Kurtzman.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Alright, so are you originally Crestline, Ohio?
- 27:15Speaker 7: Yeah, I grew up in Crestline, yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 8: Looking, just trying to figure out where it was placed,
- 27:20Speaker 8: it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere to
- 27:23Speaker 8: have ended up in Hollywood. So did you plan, like
- 27:26Speaker 8: when you were a kid, were you already interested in
- 27:29Speaker 8: movies and thinking that far ahead?
- 27:31Speaker 11: No, it was more into art. I wanted to get
- 27:36Speaker 11: out of high school, go to art school, which I did.
- 27:38Speaker 11: I went to Columbus College of Art and Design for
- 27:40Speaker 11: a year. before I decided to drop out and move
- 27:43Speaker 11: to Hollywood.
- 27:46Speaker 1: We do a lot of art shows. I deal with
- 27:47Speaker 1: a lot of artists.
- 27:48Speaker 8: It's funny how much I respond to self-taught artists and
- 27:51Speaker 8: how much going to school for art seems like a
- 27:54Speaker 8: very strange idea to me. I mean, you can get
- 27:56Speaker 8: some basics, but I feel like so many artists kind
- 27:59Speaker 8: of bring their own thing to it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So it seems like you found the same thing.
- 28:03Speaker 11: Yeah, and I mean, this is 30 years ago, and
- 28:05Speaker 11: there wasn't a lot of schools available for teaching art.
- 28:10Speaker 7: What do you call it? Makeup effects.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 7: Now there's plenty of them.
- 28:14Speaker 11: I mean, I did go to a makeup course when
- 28:17Speaker 11: I moved to L.A. I took a 12-week makeup course.
- 28:19Speaker 11: Most of it was beauty makeup and very little effects stuff.
- 28:23Speaker 11: So I kind of... Once I got out of that,
- 28:25Speaker 11: I ended up working around town, different shops, and learning
- 28:29Speaker 11: from the artists that I came up in the business with.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:32Speaker 8: So early on, I guess, was it like Night of
- 28:36Speaker 8: the Creeps was the first one?
- 28:38Speaker 10: No.
- 28:38Speaker 7: Actually, I started working on the.
- 28:41Speaker 11: Empire Pictures movies at the time Charlie banned and so
- 28:43Speaker 11: it was like Troll.
- 28:45Speaker 1: That's an even better lineup there.
- 28:47Speaker 7: Troll was my first film that I had to work on.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Is this before he started going to Europe for everything?
- 28:53Speaker 7: No, we ended up going there. Romania? Yeah, I went
- 28:55Speaker 7: over there on From Beyond.
- 28:56Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 7: You know, so yeah, he had that studio over there
- 29:00Speaker 7: for a while.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 8: Well then, I don't know, that was one of those
- 29:02Speaker 8: just kind of hitting some of those early ones. I mean,
- 29:04Speaker 8: Night of the Creeps has become very iconic for horror fans.
- 29:07Speaker 8: I guess, what was that shoot like and then As
- 29:10Speaker 8: far as doing effects, I guess you were in charge
- 29:12Speaker 8: of space slugs?
- 29:14Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, Dave Miller was the key guy on
- 29:16Speaker 11: the show. Prior to that, I was working with John
- 29:19Speaker 11: Buechler on those films over there, The Troll and The
- 29:22Speaker 11: Eliminators and Terror Vision and all that, and got the
- 29:26Speaker 11: chance to work with Dave and the whole thing with
- 29:29Speaker 11: that and Fred Decker, which Fred's a great guy.
- 29:31Speaker 7: Oh, yeah, we've talked to him. He's awesome.
- 29:34Speaker 11: Fred, you know, we ended up playing the frat guys
- 29:40Speaker 11: in the movie because it made sense that we had
- 29:43Speaker 11: access to ourselves to make the effects on to.
- 29:46Speaker 7: Do the heads and everything.
- 29:47Speaker 1: You're going to be there all day anyway.
- 29:49Speaker 7: And we were the right age.
- 29:51Speaker 11: So Fred's like, yeah, you guys play to help get
- 29:53Speaker 11: a jump on everything. It won't be wasting time trying
- 29:55Speaker 11: to cast these parts.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 7: And so we all got to be in the movie,
- 29:59Speaker 7: which was awesome.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Fred's an awesome guy.
- 30:03Speaker 8: And seems very laid back about it, but kind of
- 30:06Speaker 8: knows what he wants and what he was going for
- 30:08Speaker 8: on all that stuff. And then another, like Evil Dead
- 30:11Speaker 8: 2 is so iconic at this point.
- 30:13Speaker 1: That seems like.
- 30:14Speaker 8: That first one, well, that one with the more budget
- 30:18Speaker 8: to work with, so they did bigger effects and stuff, what?
- 30:23Speaker 8: I guess what did they try to do that was
- 30:25Speaker 8: taking it up a few notches from that first one?
- 30:28Speaker 11: Well, just the overall amount of effects and, of course,
- 30:31Speaker 11: the crazier creatures.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 11: And, you know, it was a little more wacky and
- 30:35Speaker 11: there was a lot more stuff. So, yeah, it was
- 30:38Speaker 11: like they were working with a bigger budget, Sam and
- 30:41Speaker 11: Rob and Bruce. And so they kind of pulled all
- 30:44Speaker 11: the stops out, which was fun for us because it
- 30:46Speaker 11: was so much stuff to do.
- 30:47Speaker 7: It was fun.
- 30:49Speaker 8: There were a few others I was just kind of
- 30:50Speaker 8: going to throw out and see if there were weird
- 30:52Speaker 8: stories or something that went along with it, like Misery.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Were you there for the leg effect?
- 30:57Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Because that's the money shot in Misery.
- 30:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 31:01Speaker 11: We did the leg effects and then also did the,
- 31:04Speaker 11: I sculpted the broken leg appliances that James Caan wears
- 31:08Speaker 11: after the car accident.
- 31:09Speaker 7: And then he heals, of course, and then she breaks
- 31:11Speaker 7: it again. Of course.
- 31:13Speaker 11: But yeah, we did that and we got to work
- 31:14Speaker 11: with Kathy Bates and she was awesome and She's a
- 31:18Speaker 11: big horror fan and actually stayed with Sam Raimi when
- 31:23Speaker 11: they first moved to L.A., so there's some old stories there.
- 31:25Speaker 7: It was kind of fun.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Hanging out with Kathy Bates.
- 31:29Speaker 8: Then, like, Nightmare 5, is that the first time you
- 31:33Speaker 8: got to work with Robert Englund?
- 31:35Speaker 11: No, I did Nightmare 3 for Mark Sjostrom doing effects.
- 31:41Speaker 11: You know, Kevin Yeager was doing the Freddy makeup, and
- 31:43Speaker 11: then Um, and then after that I did, uh, um, nine, seven,
- 31:46Speaker 11: six evil with Robert. I was the onset guy applying
- 31:49Speaker 11: all the makeup. So, um, and then, you know, after
- 31:53Speaker 11: years and years after that, we've always managed to kind
- 31:56Speaker 11: of work together.
- 31:57Speaker 8: You've gotten very used to his face now and he
- 32:00Speaker 8: curses at you as you keep putting more appliances on
- 32:03Speaker 8: his face.
- 32:03Speaker 7: Stop talking so I can glue this down. No, it's not.
- 32:07Speaker 7: He's a great guy and awesome in the makeup.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 8: So, I always loved people under the stairs. I can
- 32:12Speaker 8: only assume that had some sort, I mean, just that
- 32:14Speaker 8: set alone. So I don't know what, as far as
- 32:17Speaker 8: how many different things you had to deal with and
- 32:19Speaker 8: how many different like stunts and weird effects to work
- 32:23Speaker 8: in there.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 11: It was mainly the people under their makeups, uh, every day. And, uh,
- 32:29Speaker 11: of course we had the, the Ving Rhames body we
- 32:31Speaker 11: had to make. So Ving had to come up to
- 32:33Speaker 11: the studio and we had to cast him, you know,
- 32:35Speaker 11: laying in that upside down position, which was a little weird, but, uh, uh,
- 32:41Speaker 11: Once again, working with Wes over the years was a
- 32:44Speaker 11: great learning experience as well.
- 32:47Speaker 8: Yeah, you've worked with him and for him, and I
- 32:50Speaker 8: guess he's become some sort of mentor.
- 32:52Speaker 1: In several capacities, I would assume.
- 32:56Speaker 8: Getting into a different direction than working on Pulp Fiction,
- 33:00Speaker 8: so is that away from the horror a little bit,
- 33:03Speaker 8: but then sort of building those.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Friendships that you're going to use later.
- 33:06Speaker 11: Yeah, there wasn't a tremendous amount of stuff, but, you know,
- 33:09Speaker 11: it was integral to the movie, you know. Same with
- 33:11Speaker 11: Reservoir Dogs. It was really just blood and the ear gag.
- 33:15Speaker 11: Tons of blood. And then same thing on Pulp, but,
- 33:19Speaker 11: you know, there's some really good sequences.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Like the syringe?
- 33:22Speaker 7: The syringe and the.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Marvin's head.
- 33:25Speaker 11: Yeah, Marvin's head exploding in the car. So, you know,
- 33:29Speaker 11: and there was a few other things that we did that...
- 33:32Speaker 11: You know, we're used almost as ratings, sacrifices, you know.
- 33:37Speaker 11: So at the end of the movie when he's gutting
- 33:39Speaker 11: the guys with the samurai and things.
- 33:41Speaker 7: You know, so.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that's extra good stuff worked in there.
- 33:45Speaker 8: And then that also, I mean, I guess, what is
- 33:46Speaker 8: it coming in contact with Quentin that early on? And
- 33:49Speaker 8: then especially when you kind of gave him a story
- 33:52Speaker 8: to then turn into a movie. So that was from
- 33:56Speaker 8: where From Better Sold On came from.
- 33:57Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:58Speaker 11: I mean, yeah, you know, it's kind of the lore,
- 34:00Speaker 11: but yeah, Quentin had... He was trying to get Reservoir
- 34:03Speaker 11: off the ground, and at that time I hired him
- 34:06Speaker 11: to write the script for Dusk. And so it kind
- 34:09Speaker 11: of was like, okay, well, that's fine. Can you do
- 34:12Speaker 11: the effects on Reservoir when it goes? And then, you know,
- 34:16Speaker 11: it just chain-reacted from there. KMB's been doing his movies
- 34:20Speaker 11: ever since, and so it's been a long relationship there.
- 34:24Speaker 7: It's great.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we just talked to Monty Hellman recently.
- 34:27Speaker 8: And he was originally supposed to be the Reservoir Dogs
- 34:30Speaker 8: director back when he was just trying to sell it
- 34:32Speaker 8: as a screenplay. And hearing how his, you know, trying
- 34:36Speaker 8: to figure out how different his would have been from
- 34:38Speaker 8: what Quentin ended up with. So then I guess, what
- 34:41Speaker 8: was the situation where you're like, I've got this story,
- 34:44Speaker 8: I've got this idea of like action and horror kind
- 34:46Speaker 8: of mixed together and trying to hand it off to him?
- 34:50Speaker 1: Was he... interested in initially, or how did it come about?
- 34:53Speaker 11: Yeah, no, he read the short story, you know, the
- 34:56Speaker 11: treatment I did, and was very interested, and he instantly,
- 35:00Speaker 11: you know, keyed into the elements, which was, it was
- 35:03Speaker 11: a height, kind of a, you know, guys on the
- 35:05Speaker 11: lamb heist thing, kind of a getaway meets, you know,
- 35:08Speaker 11: vampires thing, so he instantly, you know, zeroed in on that,
- 35:13Speaker 11: and really had fun with, obviously, with the dialogue.
- 35:16Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So, It does take that hard turn.
- 35:19Speaker 8: Was that always in your original treatment, the fact that
- 35:21Speaker 8: midway in it just becomes.
- 35:23Speaker 11: An entire new movie? Yeah, pretty much. In his screenplay,
- 35:28Speaker 11: it's extended a little bit more because in the treatment,
- 35:30Speaker 11: they're on the road and boom, they're at the Titty Twister.
- 35:37Speaker 11: And then the hotel sequence got put in to beef
- 35:41Speaker 11: up the opening half of the movie. But the weird
- 35:44Speaker 11: part about it was that structure also... inhibited us getting
- 35:49Speaker 11: the movie made for 10 years so.
- 35:51Speaker 8: I think it confused people like now there's that you
- 35:54Speaker 8: know tarantino fan base and horror families but i think
- 35:56Speaker 8: like regular people going in are just like completely caught
- 36:00Speaker 8: off guard especially when it hit like it seemed like
- 36:03Speaker 8: that that when it opened it was really hard to market.
- 36:06Speaker 11: And everybody turned the script down for years and years
- 36:08Speaker 11: even after quentin had success yeah reservoir and pulp and
- 36:13Speaker 11: uh they would just you know read it and go
- 36:15Speaker 11: i don't know not to mention you have the chet
- 36:18Speaker 11: pussy speech so and that was like.
- 36:21Speaker 8: What the hell the whole reason he wrote the screenplay
- 36:24Speaker 8: wait can i make him oh yeah i can make
- 36:26Speaker 8: him say.
- 36:26Speaker 1: All these that's fine.
- 36:29Speaker 8: Well then again another iconic one and back with wes
- 36:31Speaker 8: scream i mean is that all knife work for you
- 36:34Speaker 8: i mean it's mostly just kind of knife tricks and
- 36:36Speaker 8: lots of blood.
- 36:37Speaker 11: We had uh drew's body at the opening and then
- 36:40Speaker 11: her you know got a boyfriend in the swimming pool
- 36:42Speaker 11: and Yeah, and then there's the bullet stuff and the
- 36:44Speaker 11: knife gags.
- 36:45Speaker 7: And all that.
- 36:46Speaker 1: All the stuff at the end, yeah.
- 36:47Speaker 11: I mean, the first film was a little less, you know,
- 36:50Speaker 11: gory than the rest of them.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 11: You know, it got a little crazier with slit throats
- 36:55Speaker 11: and everything after that, but.
- 36:57Speaker 1: By the end, though, they're soaked in blood. That whole
- 37:00Speaker 1: party scene, everybody's soaked in blood.
- 37:03Speaker 8: But, I mean, now it's funny how different that movie is,
- 37:08Speaker 8: and I always feel like it's sort of that, like,
- 37:10Speaker 8: watershed in horror.
- 37:11Speaker 7: It's like.
- 37:13Speaker 8: made that self-referential thing happen and made things very meta
- 37:16Speaker 8: and self-aware. Did it feel like it was something different
- 37:19Speaker 8: at the time, or was it just another slasher that
- 37:21Speaker 8: Wes was doing?
- 37:23Speaker 11: You know, to be honest, we read the script and
- 37:25Speaker 11: weren't sure. We were like, okay, this is kind of...
- 37:28Speaker 11: For us, it was kind of riffing on everything that
- 37:31Speaker 11: we grew up on, so we weren't sure how it
- 37:33Speaker 11: was going to work, you know? I was like, well,
- 37:35Speaker 11: I've kind of seen this before, but, you know, the
- 37:38Speaker 11: way they handled it and the way Wes handled it
- 37:40Speaker 11: and Kevin, of course, you know, they... they pulled it
- 37:43Speaker 11: off and it was something new and different for a
- 37:46Speaker 11: new generation of people.
- 37:47Speaker 7: So definitely.
- 37:48Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 8: It's even, yeah, that writing is just very different. And
- 37:51Speaker 8: now you see everybody else, including him trying to replicate.
- 37:55Speaker 7: It over and over again.
- 37:55Speaker 8: But yeah, at the time it was just so different
- 37:57Speaker 8: than what we'd seen in horror before. Uh, again, a
- 38:01Speaker 8: hard left turn. I just saw bad boys too. That
- 38:04Speaker 8: seems like there's gotta be a story.
- 38:07Speaker 11: No, it was just, I mean, we were just brought
- 38:09Speaker 11: on to handle all the body effects and stuff. And,
- 38:13Speaker 11: um and shot that in florida of course in miami
- 38:16Speaker 11: and uh it was hot as hell uh but it
- 38:19Speaker 11: was fun i was down there doing all the um
- 38:21Speaker 11: the stunt work when they were the bodies were coming
- 38:23Speaker 11: out of the vans so we had them on like
- 38:25Speaker 11: um these you know pneumatic drawers that would come in
- 38:28Speaker 11: and out as they're driving around in the van um
- 38:31Speaker 11: and then wrecking it of course and running over the
- 38:33Speaker 11: head and it flopping out and all that.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Just a few car crashes in that movie.
- 38:37Speaker 11: And that was pretty funny because that that uh The
- 38:39Speaker 11: head gag when they run over the head was just
- 38:42Speaker 11: a simple gag. Mike Deke, who worked at K &
- 38:44Speaker 11: B at the time, me and him were down there,
- 38:46Speaker 11: and it was literally a pull it on a string deal,
- 38:50Speaker 11: a wire hook to the head, and it was a
- 38:52Speaker 11: timing thing.
- 38:53Speaker 7: Worked a first take. It was weird. Thank God it did,
- 38:56Speaker 7: because Michael would have been, you know.
- 38:59Speaker 1: That was my other thing.
- 39:00Speaker 8: Working for a pretty infamous director at this point, I
- 39:03Speaker 8: don't know.
- 39:03Speaker 1: How was he?
- 39:04Speaker 8: That was still, I mean, it was kind of midway
- 39:06Speaker 8: in the run. He was certainly the big name at
- 39:08Speaker 8: the time, but.
- 39:09Speaker 1: I don't know. There's so many stories now. How is
- 39:11Speaker 1: he to work on his set?
- 39:13Speaker 11: He's intense, of course. But it's amazing because he really
- 39:18Speaker 11: moves his set. He comes in and it's like, camera here,
- 39:22Speaker 11: camera there, 50 cameras, and boom. What was amazing and
- 39:27Speaker 11: great on that show to watch a crew of that
- 39:30Speaker 11: size having to motivate like a move from one location
- 39:34Speaker 11: to another on the same day. Like one day we'd
- 39:37Speaker 11: be shooting one section of car wreck, you know, and stunts.
- 39:41Speaker 11: And then within a half an hour they're moving the
- 39:43Speaker 11: entire thing. five blocks away to shoot the train sequence.
- 39:47Speaker 11: And they were just running and gunning, and it was
- 39:49Speaker 11: amazing to watch because it's not boring at all on
- 39:52Speaker 11: a Michael Bay film.
- 39:54Speaker 8: That's got to be weird for you, too, coming from
- 39:57Speaker 8: sitting in a cabin or a room somewhere doing blood
- 40:00Speaker 8: effects to now being out on a highway and helicopter
- 40:03Speaker 8: shots and stunt work and cars crashing.
- 40:06Speaker 7: That's the fun part, though. I love action movies, so
- 40:10Speaker 7: I love watching that stuff.
- 40:11Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 40:12Speaker 8: Then just another newer one, It Follows, has gotten such
- 40:16Speaker 8: a great response and is another one of those that's
- 40:19Speaker 8: sort of redefining the genre.
- 40:21Speaker 1: So I don't know, what did they bring you guys
- 40:22Speaker 1: in to do?
- 40:24Speaker 11: We came in, we had a couple of gags in
- 40:26Speaker 11: the movie, but mainly it was just.
- 40:28Speaker 7: A look of the dead or, you know, the entities,
- 40:31Speaker 7: you know.
- 40:32Speaker 11: And it wasn't a huge, complicated film. It was a
- 40:35Speaker 11: really small film that we were lucky enough to get
- 40:38Speaker 11: involved with. You know, it was a little independent thing.
- 40:40Speaker 11: And we liked the script. and I thought it was
- 40:43Speaker 11: something new and different, so.
- 40:46Speaker 8: You, over the years, worked your way into directing. Do
- 40:50Speaker 8: you take to directing? Is it something you enjoy doing
- 40:53Speaker 8: the same as the effects, or is it, what's the
- 40:56Speaker 8: process like for you?
- 40:57Speaker 11: No, I love directing, and so it's probably, it's my
- 41:01Speaker 11: favorite thing to do, obviously, but.
- 41:05Speaker 7: My first love is the effects.
- 41:06Speaker 11: You know, and I, you know, as I, it's, I'll
- 41:11Speaker 11: find a project and then it'll take years to get
- 41:13Speaker 11: it off the ground. So in between, I still do
- 41:16Speaker 11: this because I like to be creative and be on
- 41:18Speaker 11: a film set and work with directors and creative people.
- 41:21Speaker 8: Yeah, that's what I was looking at the list. There's
- 41:24Speaker 8: so many projects going. How much overlap do you have
- 41:28Speaker 8: or what kind of schedule? How tight is that schedule
- 41:31Speaker 8: of working from one project to the next?
- 41:33Speaker 7: It depends.
- 41:34Speaker 11: Sometimes there's nothing going on for months. And then suddenly
- 41:40Speaker 11: you're doing four projects at the same time. Luckily, I
- 41:43Speaker 11: have a great crew that works with us, and we
- 41:46Speaker 11: have to juggle it. The worst is when you have
- 41:48Speaker 11: set work going at the same time. And then you're
- 41:51Speaker 11: juggling from one location.
- 41:53Speaker 7: If it shoots, one's out of state, one's in state.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Well, and then are you back in Ohio?
- 42:00Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I thought you set up a production company based out
- 42:03Speaker 1: of Ohio now.
- 42:03Speaker 7: Yeah, my studio's in Ohio now.
- 42:05Speaker 8: So that's, I mean, that's, are you working to get
- 42:08Speaker 8: most of the work based out of there? Because I
- 42:11Speaker 8: know it's so hard running an entertainment show 2,000 miles
- 42:14Speaker 8: from Hollywood, let alone your own studio and effects company.
- 42:17Speaker 8: So how much is it you're trying to do everything
- 42:19Speaker 8: based directly out of there or bringing stuff in?
- 42:22Speaker 11: No, we build everything there and then we go to
- 42:24Speaker 11: wherever the shoot is. So like when we did Tusk,
- 42:27Speaker 11: we built everything there and then shot North Carolina. um
- 42:31Speaker 11: we've built stuff and then shot in louisiana or shot
- 42:34Speaker 11: in new mexico and uh even india we've built stuff
- 42:37Speaker 11: and gone to india but um it's uh it's not
- 42:41Speaker 11: you know it's a little different now because so many
- 42:43Speaker 11: productions are shooting in uh states to have tax incentive
- 42:46Speaker 11: packages that's that's.
- 42:47Speaker 8: The game now where do we put it right we
- 42:50Speaker 8: just got one past year so you might be back
- 42:51Speaker 8: here soon.
- 42:52Speaker 11: And ohio's been you know uh last few years has
- 42:55Speaker 11: been building there so yeah that's.
- 42:58Speaker 1: That's good Nothing else.
- 43:00Speaker 8: You've got so many things in the works. What is
- 43:03Speaker 8: the next thing you want to tell people about?
- 43:06Speaker 11: Well, we just did a really fun movie with Robert
- 43:08Speaker 11: Englund in it as well. It's called Funhouse Massacre. So
- 43:13Speaker 11: if you get a chance, there's a couple little things
- 43:14Speaker 11: they put up online.
- 43:16Speaker 7: Actually, it's funny.
- 43:17Speaker 11: It's my daughter has a bit part in it, and
- 43:21Speaker 11: she's running down an alley and gets hit in the
- 43:23Speaker 11: head with a severed head, and it.
- 43:24Speaker 7: Knocks her out.
- 43:25Speaker 11: And they said, heads up, you know. And so that's
- 43:30Speaker 11: out on the Internet right now. And I thought it
- 43:32Speaker 11: just came out yesterday. I was, like, texting her going,
- 43:34Speaker 11: check it out, you're getting hit in the head over.
- 43:36Speaker 7: And over again.
- 43:38Speaker 8: That's what I was wondering was, again, starting when you did,
- 43:41Speaker 8: I mean, the effects going back far enough, like, you know,
- 43:45Speaker 8: 70s and before was all just kind of theatrical more
- 43:47Speaker 8: or less, just vamped up a little bit.
- 43:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 8: In this last from the eighties, it takes on a
- 43:52Speaker 8: whole new art form and becomes, and then working into
- 43:55Speaker 8: the digital age in the two thousands, you've kind of
- 43:58Speaker 8: seen it go through all of these, how much has
- 44:01Speaker 8: it affected you, I guess, career wise. And then what's
- 44:03Speaker 8: your take on it personally, as far as the art,
- 44:06Speaker 8: both of them being kind of an art form, as
- 44:08Speaker 8: much as we want to talk bad about CG being right.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Practical effects lovers, you know, there's a.
- 44:13Speaker 7: Place for it.
- 44:13Speaker 11: I mean, there is, I feel like, uh, you know, I,
- 44:16Speaker 11: I like a good mix of, of practical and digital, but, um,
- 44:19Speaker 11: you know, as much practical as you can get away with.
- 44:22Speaker 7: But, um, the, you know, it's changed.
- 44:25Speaker 11: I was lucky enough to get in the business in
- 44:27Speaker 11: the eighties at the height of the boom where every,
- 44:31Speaker 11: everybody wanted to do a monster movie.
- 44:32Speaker 7: With creature effects and stuff.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:35Speaker 11: And, uh, and then over the years, I mean, what,
- 44:37Speaker 11: You know, once Jurassic came out, we thought we were
- 44:39Speaker 11: doomed after Jurassic came out.
- 44:41Speaker 7: That's what I've heard.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Everybody that works in the industry is like, oh, God.
- 44:45Speaker 11: And then, you know, it did and it didn't. You know,
- 44:48Speaker 11: it's kind of gone to that place and then now
- 44:51Speaker 11: it's going back to a mix.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:53Speaker 7: But, I mean, as a filmmaker, I.
- 44:54Speaker 11: Love having the ability to take advantage of digital techniques
- 44:58Speaker 11: to make things. There's definitely a safety issue thing that
- 45:02Speaker 11: is great about having CG. You don't have to have
- 45:05Speaker 11: a guy drop off a skyscraper. You don't have to
- 45:10Speaker 11: do certain stunt things digitally and kill someone doing it.
- 45:14Speaker 7: And bullet hits and stuff like that.
- 45:16Speaker 11: I mean, you could do the old style, pull the
- 45:20Speaker 11: button and blood rig off of someone's head or a
- 45:23Speaker 11: squib on their head. And then if it doesn't go
- 45:26Speaker 11: off timing-wise right, then you're wasting hours.
- 45:29Speaker 7: And hours and hours of reset.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Doing everything, yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 7: So there's a place for it.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Sometimes those are the worst, I feel like.
- 45:35Speaker 8: The simple, like, bullet effects or blood splatters, like, sometimes
- 45:39Speaker 8: those are the worst CG.
- 45:40Speaker 1: So that I'm almost leaning towards sticking with.
- 45:43Speaker 7: But, I mean, you know, Walking Dead does it really well.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Well, you know, again, it.
- 45:46Speaker 8: Feels like he does practical first and adds some kind
- 45:49Speaker 8: of accents here and there with the CG. So, yeah,
- 45:52Speaker 8: it's hard to tell with them because they kind of
- 45:54Speaker 8: know how to do it right, but. So, yeah, I
- 45:56Speaker 8: was just wondering how that went. But I think that's
- 46:00Speaker 8: about it, unless you need to pass along any other
- 46:02Speaker 8: stuff coming up?
- 46:03Speaker 11: No, we got some stuff coming up this fall, but
- 46:06Speaker 11: I can't really talk about it right now.
- 46:07Speaker 1: That's usually how that goes. Any website or anything you
- 46:10Speaker 1: need to tell people.
- 46:11Speaker 2: To go to?
- 46:11Speaker 11: Yeah, if you want to check out our work, go
- 46:13Speaker 11: to creaturecore.net, C-O-R-P-S dot net, and check out our reels,
- 46:18Speaker 11: and we got some of our little behind-the-scenes videos and.
- 46:23Speaker 7: Stuff on there, so.
- 46:24Speaker 1: All right, definitely. Thank you for talking to us, man.
- 46:26Speaker 7: Thanks for having me.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Step aside, Sinbad.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Watch out, Star Wars.
- 46:43Speaker 12: Here comes the master of the flying guillotine, the ultimate
- 46:47Speaker 12: action fantasy, a legend. He battled the warriors from beyond
- 46:50Speaker 12: time with weaponry beyond imagination. See the monkey man. See
- 46:55Speaker 12: the arena of death. See the challenge of the inferno,
- 46:57Speaker 12: the tornado of knives, the fighting magician with the 18-foot arms,
- 47:00Speaker 12: and see the master of the flying guillotine, filmed in
- 47:04Speaker 12: Super Cinevision from Seymour Bordy and Associates, rated R.
- 47:13Speaker 13: This episode is brought to you by Crosley Turntables. Starting

- 47:46Speaker 13: you need.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Alright, so we're back and now we're here with... Misty!
- 48:03Speaker 1: Misty has joined the festivities. How's it going, Misty?
- 48:08Speaker 9: People keep wanting to talk to me. Like, a lot.
- 48:13Speaker 9: That happens. They keep wanting me to read their books,
- 48:15Speaker 9: but get not one of them is a pop-up book?
- 48:18Speaker 1: There really is an oversight on all of the authors
- 48:21Speaker 1: in the world's part.
- 48:21Speaker 9: Oh my god.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Just saying.
- 48:25Speaker 9: Do they not know their fan base, which is me?
- 48:28Speaker 1: Pop-up books. It's just you.
- 48:30Speaker 9: It is just me.
- 48:31Speaker 7: I'm okay with it.
- 48:31Speaker 1: I mean, I like them a little bit, but even
- 48:33Speaker 1: I don't buy them.
- 48:33Speaker 9: Me and Lance Henriksen.
- 48:34Speaker 1: That's true.
- 48:35Speaker 8: Lance Henriksen was pretty excited when you questioned him for
- 48:38Speaker 8: not writing a pop-up book.
- 48:40Speaker 9: I would read that shit if he wrote it. Why
- 48:42Speaker 9: isn't there like an alien pop-up book?
- 48:44Speaker 1: There should be. Anything that involves chest bursters, why is
- 48:48Speaker 1: there not.
- 48:48Speaker 5: A pop-up book?
- 48:49Speaker 9: With the mouth that comes out, that's like prime for
- 48:51Speaker 9: a pop-up book.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Just like the entire scene with John Hurt. Why is
- 48:56Speaker 1: that not a full page?
- 48:57Speaker 9: Or the egg in the face burster bust out. Why
- 49:02Speaker 9: is this not happening?
- 49:04Speaker 8: Right now, kickstart. People, start writing in. Just kickstart it.
- 49:08Speaker 8: Send us your money. We will get it going.
- 49:11Speaker 9: Or go buy sandwiches.
- 49:12Speaker 8: We know like 400 artists that could do this kind
- 49:14Speaker 8: of thing. So let's get it going right now.
- 49:17Speaker 9: I bought some stuff.
- 49:20Speaker 1: You do like stuff.
- 49:21Speaker 9: I bought some stuff. Supernatural blind box figures. Did not
- 49:25Speaker 9: get the one that I wanted. I bought five boxes.
- 49:27Speaker 1: You got like three that you really wanted otherwise though.
- 49:30Speaker 9: I mean Bobby's okay. I would have preferred to get Dean.
- 49:32Speaker 9: But I got Bobby Sam.
- 49:35Speaker 7: Cass.
- 49:36Speaker 9: That one chick whose name I forgot with the red hair.
- 49:40Speaker 9: And what else did I get? The guy with the
- 49:42Speaker 9: frying pan.
- 49:43Speaker 1: You know, the guy with the frying pan.
- 49:45Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, the Asian guy.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Oh, exactly.
- 49:49Speaker 9: He was the prophet.
- 49:51Speaker 1: I have not watched it since, like, season one.
- 49:54Speaker 9: Not the prophet Chuck, the other prophet. We saw Carrie
- 49:57Speaker 9: Fisher wandering about. She is a tiny little old lady.
- 49:59Speaker 8: She is very, I mean, we always kind of knew that,
- 50:02Speaker 8: you know, especially compared to the rest of the cast,
- 50:04Speaker 8: that everybody looked short next to Peter May, but.
- 50:06Speaker 1: She's really not a tall woman.
- 50:08Speaker 9: She had shiny shoes. They were bedazzled.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Yeah, she had glitter shoes.
- 50:12Speaker 8: It was pretty awesome. I would hang out with Carrie.
- 50:15Speaker 8: She seems like she's got a hell of a lot
- 50:16Speaker 8: of stories that I would enjoy hearing.
- 50:21Speaker 9: We've seen a lot of people in costumes today. More
- 50:23Speaker 9: than the typical convention that we normally go to.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Again, I blame our town.
- 50:29Speaker 9: I can't tell if that guy's in a costume or
- 50:30Speaker 9: if that's just the way he dresses.
- 50:32Speaker 1: It's a lot of people.
- 50:33Speaker 9: The guy in the white shirt. With the half suspender?
- 50:37Speaker 7: That might....
- 50:40Speaker 1: I really don't know. I really don't know. You play
- 50:44Speaker 1: that game all day, too. Like, what do they do? Oh, see,
- 50:46Speaker 1: that was one of those.
- 50:47Speaker 8: They came through the main room, and I was like,
- 50:49Speaker 8: I only saw them from, like, the waist up, and
- 50:51Speaker 8: I was trying to figure out what their costume was.
- 50:52Speaker 8: And then they came around the corner, and they were
- 50:54Speaker 8: holding a mop, and they were part of the janitorial staff.
- 50:57Speaker 9: Nice.
- 50:57Speaker 1: And I was like, that's not a costume. That's their uniform.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Aw.
- 51:01Speaker 1: That sucks for them. They've got to clean up after
- 51:03Speaker 1: these animals.
- 51:04Speaker 9: A lot of people in outfits they should not have
- 51:05Speaker 9: been wearing. I'm not sure if it's good or bad,
- 51:07Speaker 9: but we've seen a lot more Superman and Wonder Woman
- 51:09Speaker 9: costumes than I remember ever seeing.
- 51:11Speaker 1: There's a good amount of Superman at least, yeah. There's
- 51:14Speaker 1: a couple Superman and Wonder Woman combos going around together.
- 51:18Speaker 9: There's quite a few of those. Quite a lot of
- 51:21Speaker 9: those are questionable too. There have been quite a few
- 51:22Speaker 9: decent ones, but a lot of them I'm like, hmm.
- 51:25Speaker 9: What's going on here?
- 51:26Speaker 1: How about Jokers? You like the Jokers?
- 51:29Speaker 9: I am not happy with the Jokers because Is it
- 51:31Speaker 9: that hard to put on white makeup?
- 51:34Speaker 8: I think it takes layering, and not everybody understands that.
- 51:38Speaker 8: Because one layer will wear off and fade really, really fast.
- 51:42Speaker 9: It's splotchy.
- 51:43Speaker 1: It's extra splotchy.
- 51:44Speaker 8: That's why it's like you almost have to do one
- 51:47Speaker 8: and let it actually dry, and then go in for
- 51:49Speaker 8: another coat. Because otherwise, you can kind of see through it.
- 51:52Speaker 8: But not everybody comes to that conclusion.
- 51:55Speaker 9: I guess so. I don't get it.
- 52:03Speaker 1: And now let's talk with actor and martial artist Ernie
- 52:05Speaker 1: Rees Jr.
- 52:10Speaker 8: So I guess usually I try to figure out how
- 52:13Speaker 8: people got into the business or what their interests were
- 52:16Speaker 8: as a kid, but I'm assuming you were kind of
- 52:18Speaker 8: born into the business.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Well, yes and no. My dad.
- 52:25Speaker 10: Has been a lifelong martial artist and had a martial
- 52:28Speaker 10: arts school pretty much around the time that I was born.
- 52:32Speaker 1: And so I was born into that.
- 52:37Speaker 10: And, you know, we traveled all over the country and
- 52:41Speaker 10: competed in martial arts tournaments and did martial arts demonstration
- 52:45Speaker 10: and eventually led to Hollywood. But if it wasn't for
- 52:50Speaker 10: my martial arts, I would have never made it into
- 52:52Speaker 10: the entertainment business, films and television.
- 52:56Speaker 1: So I was born into the world of martial arts.
- 52:58Speaker 10: I wasn't necessarily born in the world of you know
- 53:01Speaker 10: entertainment but that's where it led me so.
- 53:04Speaker 8: Yeah i'm sure he wanted you to do martial arts
- 53:05Speaker 8: did he want you to get into the entertainment business
- 53:07Speaker 8: your father uh.
- 53:10Speaker 10: Yeah i mean i think everybody that did martial arts
- 53:14Speaker 10: at least that i knew all across america if you
- 53:19Speaker 10: started doing martial arts in the 60s and the 70s
- 53:23Speaker 10: um you wanted to be like bruce lee and bruce
- 53:26Speaker 10: lee set a blueprint uh being in movies and he
- 53:30Speaker 10: was a filmmaker though. And he, you know, and he
- 53:33Speaker 10: wrote and he directed and he choreographed fight scenes.
- 53:35Speaker 1: And that's what we did.
- 53:36Speaker 10: We, you know, we choreographed fight scenes and we came
- 53:40Speaker 10: up with skits and, and, you know, we all wanted
- 53:43Speaker 10: to get to where Bruce Lee got. Uh, but he
- 53:46Speaker 10: was a tremendous motivate, motivating factor for me in terms
- 53:51Speaker 10: of as a young boy, the intensity in which I
- 53:53Speaker 10: would train. I mean, I took it very seriously, um,
- 53:57Speaker 10: and still do, but, um, It was because of people
- 54:00Speaker 10: like that that people aspired to want to make it
- 54:04Speaker 10: into films and television. And we, you know, at least myself,
- 54:09Speaker 10: and I know my dad is a Bruce Lee fan too.
- 54:11Speaker 10: I'm like kind of a fanatic, but, you know, he
- 54:15Speaker 10: was somebody that inspired everyone.
- 54:17Speaker 1: I think that legacy still holds up.
- 54:19Speaker 8: I think there are people still getting involved in martial
- 54:22Speaker 8: arts and probably acting because of Bruce Lee.
- 54:25Speaker 10: Oh, yeah. I mean, and he's a rare combination because
- 54:29Speaker 10: he's not only a martial artist, and there are a
- 54:30Speaker 10: lot of great martial artists and maybe even better martial
- 54:34Speaker 10: artists than Bruce Lee, but the combination of that and
- 54:37Speaker 10: being a filmmaker is a very kind of rare quality. And,
- 54:43Speaker 10: you know, when your friends are Steve McQueen and, you know,
- 54:46Speaker 10: James Coburn, you know, people like that probably has an
- 54:51Speaker 10: influence on you as well.
- 54:53Speaker 8: You must be doing something right in the business at
- 54:54Speaker 8: that point, so. Well, getting into movies, how did you
- 54:58Speaker 8: get involved in The Last Dragon?
- 55:01Speaker 10: You know, my manager at the time knew some Motown
- 55:06Speaker 10: executives and introduced me to them. And they only.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Had about three weeks left of filming.
- 55:14Speaker 10: And my dad and his demonstration team, the West Coast
- 55:19Speaker 10: Demo team and myself were brought in.
- 55:21Speaker 1: We performed for Barry Gordy.
- 55:25Speaker 10: Onset of Seventh Heaven and they wrote me into the
- 55:30Speaker 10: script and wrote my dad and the demonstration team and
- 55:33Speaker 10: the fight scene, you know, in the nightclub, kind of
- 55:36Speaker 10: all wrote that together based upon our demonstration and that
- 55:42Speaker 10: was awesome.
- 55:44Speaker 1: What was Berg like?
- 55:46Speaker 10: He was, I mean, he was really the one who
- 55:48Speaker 10: was responsible for the starting of my career. I mean, I,
- 55:52Speaker 10: you know, I can't say anything other than I'm lucky,
- 55:57Speaker 10: you know? I mean, he found people like, you know,
- 56:00Speaker 10: Michael Jackson and Diana Ross and Stevie. I mean, it
- 56:04Speaker 10: goes on and on and on, you know? And so,
- 56:08Speaker 10: you know, for him to... Because they were... He was
- 56:11Speaker 10: essentially responsible for The Last Dragon, which eventually rolled out
- 56:15Speaker 10: into Motown, developing with Disney The Last Electric Knight.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Sidekicks, that was a Motown... thing.
- 56:23Speaker 10: So, um, I mean, he, he was really kind of,
- 56:29Speaker 10: you know, the lucky break that you were looking for,
- 56:33Speaker 10: you know, when you're training in San Jose, California, far
- 56:37Speaker 10: away from Hollywood or movies or TV, and you're just
- 56:40Speaker 10: in your dad's small little school, you know, training.
- 56:45Speaker 8: So around the time you also end up in Red Sonja,
- 56:49Speaker 8: how is.
- 56:50Speaker 10: That, uh, that was just, uh, auditions. I, that was
- 56:54Speaker 10: one of the, I was one of the roles that I,
- 56:56Speaker 10: the only, one of the only roles that I've ever, like,
- 56:59Speaker 10: auditioned for and gotten, uh, and, uh, got to, you know, to,
- 57:04Speaker 10: to work, I don't know, that was the time of
- 57:06Speaker 10: my life, actually. Got to work with Dino De Laurentiis, and,
- 57:10Speaker 10: you know, that's who I auditioned for multiple times, and flew,
- 57:14Speaker 10: lived in Italy for, like, six months making that movie
- 57:17Speaker 10: with Arnold Schwarzenegger, riding horses, and, like, You know, I mean, yeah.
- 57:25Speaker 10: Surviving earthquakes together. I mean, like, it's pretty cool.
- 57:28Speaker 1: Richard Fleischer is a pretty epic director. How was he
- 57:31Speaker 1: to work with? You know, he was amazing. I mean,
- 57:35Speaker 1: you know, he is an epic director.
- 57:37Speaker 10: And what was most cool about it for me is, like,
- 57:40Speaker 10: the perfect, it's like it fit into, you know, the
- 57:45Speaker 10: entire landscape of being, you know, 12 years old, basically,
- 57:48Speaker 10: working with Richard Fleischer. on an epic movie with these
- 57:54Speaker 10: epic sets that were, like, really epic sets. A giant monster.
- 57:59Speaker 10: I mean, you know, a water scene, you know. I mean,
- 58:05Speaker 10: it was awesome. And, you know, Bridget Nielsen, you know,
- 58:09Speaker 10: at 19.
- 58:09Speaker 1: That was pretty epic, too. To say the least. So, yeah,
- 58:17Speaker 1: I guess at.
- 58:17Speaker 8: That point, yeah, you're a that's something I was kind
- 58:20Speaker 8: of wondering too, because you got pretty successful during that
- 58:23Speaker 8: run and you're, you're still a kid. A lot of
- 58:27Speaker 8: kid actors have problems. Were you tempted by all that
- 58:30Speaker 8: life going on?
- 58:31Speaker 10: Oh, I mean, at that point I was, I was
- 58:33Speaker 10: a little kid, you know, um, yeah, but that was, yeah,
- 58:38Speaker 10: I mean, that was, that, that kind of, that was.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Much kind of later for me.
- 58:45Speaker 10: Um, you know, um, not, not, not, eight ten twelve
- 58:50Speaker 10: years old you know but you know uh the the
- 58:55Speaker 10: life of you know being an actor as a kid
- 58:58Speaker 10: and working yeah that is a uh no one can
- 59:02Speaker 10: understand what that's like until unless you've done that and
- 59:06Speaker 10: there's only you know handfuls of people that have kind
- 59:10Speaker 10: of lived that life and uh even less that have
- 59:14Speaker 10: kind of survived it so you know i'm pretty lucky
- 59:18Speaker 10: you know it definitely comes with its you know bumps
- 59:20Speaker 10: and bruises and i definitely you know having grown up
- 59:25Speaker 10: in hollywood have gone down every pathway you can possibly imagine.
- 59:31Speaker 1: But I'm thankful that I'm.
- 59:32Speaker 10: Here and, you know, I've survived it and I feel good.
- 59:37Speaker 1: And, you know, I've got a great family.
- 59:39Speaker 10: And, you know, with all my current health challenges, you know,
- 59:45Speaker 10: it's kind of things, everything in perspective.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I really can't be anything more than just grateful.
- 59:52Speaker 8: Your sister seems pretty awesome. I was watching the videos
- 59:54Speaker 8: of her kind of in your corner on this one.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 59:58Speaker 10: She's a martial artist. My dad raised her like he
- 1:00:02Speaker 10: raised me as a martial artist. So for her, anything
- 1:00:07Speaker 10: that she can do, she's going to attack it with
- 1:00:12Speaker 10: the martial arts spirit that my dad breeds. So, you know,
- 1:00:19Speaker 10: it's really, like I said, there's nothing else other than
- 1:00:22Speaker 10: for me.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: To be grateful.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: Definitely.
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: I still eventually had to get to the Ninja Turtles thing.
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: You ended up in the first one doing stunt work.
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: I guess at that point, were you familiar with the property?
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: Because it's a weird concept at that point. Now we're
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: so used to it.
- 1:00:43Speaker 10: It was definitely a weird concept, but I was aware
- 1:00:46Speaker 10: of it because of my younger brother. And for me,
- 1:00:51Speaker 10: working with Golden Harvest, was really like, I wasn't, I
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: didn't even have to think twice about it. I was like,
- 1:00:56Speaker 10: are you kidding me? Golden Harvest, that's Bruce Lee, that's
- 1:00:58Speaker 10: Jackie Chan, that's Jet Li. And really, ultimately, Golden Harvest
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: was the one that was responsible for pulling me out
- 1:01:05Speaker 10: of the costume and writing in the character. That had
- 1:01:08Speaker 10: nothing to do with the Ninja Turtle universe prior to
- 1:01:11Speaker 10: the movies and prior to Golden Harvest. So it was
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: really that. And, you know, I mean, I remember very
- 1:01:18Speaker 10: clearly getting the telephone call and, you know, they talked
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: about who was you know producing the film and Jim
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: Henson and Golden Harvest I mean you can't it doesn't
- 1:01:33Speaker 10: matter I'm like absolutely I'm in 100% well.
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: Then you're working in the suit that first time how
- 1:01:40Speaker 8: hard was that to still be able to do what
- 1:01:42Speaker 8: you know you've been doing your whole life but now
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: you've got this giant suit on you.
- 1:01:45Speaker 10: Yeah it was just kind of one more challenge you
- 1:01:47Speaker 10: know what I mean I'm like okay but I'm like,
- 1:01:50Speaker 10: all I kept thinking about.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Was Bruce Lee. And I'm like, you know, what would
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Bruce Lee do if he was an Ninja Turtle? Whatever
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Bruce Lee wants to do.
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:01:59Speaker 10: So I was just like, you know, keep it going.
- 1:02:01Speaker 10: And I think that, you know, I think that was,
- 1:02:04Speaker 10: you know, I'm proud of those fight scenes for what
- 1:02:08Speaker 10: we were able to do.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: It wasn't easy, you know.
- 1:02:12Speaker 10: But when you make a movie with Golden Harvest and
- 1:02:15Speaker 10: the legacy that belongs to them, you do whatever it
- 1:02:19Speaker 10: takes to get it done.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: So definitely.
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: And then there quickly after that surf ninjas, that was
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: such a run of like the, we were the country
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: as a whole was sort of like overrun. Like we
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: were so obsessed with, you know, every movie and specifically
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: for kids, like you had the, the sidekicks, you know,
- 1:02:37Speaker 8: movie and then the TV show.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: That you were on. And then, you know, the opposite order.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: And then we came after the show, which is weird.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: That's not usually how it goes.
- 1:02:47Speaker 10: Yeah, well, because they weren't two totally different things. The
- 1:02:51Speaker 10: TV series that I had on ABC that was a
- 1:02:56Speaker 10: Motown Disney production was the series created by Motown and Disney,
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: and the sidekick's movie was Jonathan Rannan and Chuck Norris.
- 1:03:09Speaker 10: So I always like to say that, you know, ours
- 1:03:13Speaker 10: came first.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: They stole from you. Sort of speak.
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: But even all the other Ninja Turtles and your three
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: ninjas and all that stuff hit at the same time.
- 1:03:23Speaker 8: And it's just kind of wondering what the weird obsession was.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: At the time.
- 1:03:27Speaker 8: And then to the point that it was becoming so
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: mainstream that they worked Rob Schneider into it.
- 1:03:33Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: So were you stuck with him every day?
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And it felt like it?
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: No, it was.
- 1:03:42Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, it was just.
- 1:03:46Speaker 10: Honestly, that time period was just something, you know, unto itself.
- 1:03:52Speaker 10: The Ninja Turtles, I mean, it went from, you know,
- 1:03:56Speaker 10: the Ninja Turtles in the first one, then going into that,
- 1:04:00Speaker 10: then going right into Surf Ninjas.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: And, yeah, it was like, I mean, I was growing
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: up as well right with it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 10: So by the time I, you know, got to work
- 1:04:07Speaker 10: with Rob and having been a fan, you know, of
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: Xerox Man and stuff like that, I was like, man,
- 1:04:15Speaker 10: this is pretty cool.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: At the time, he was pretty hot, so it was kind.
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: Of a big deal.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Making copies. And then, to jump.
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: Ahead a little, but in the rundown, once again, huge
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: personalities to work with there.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Dwayne is pretty impressive in his own right. Oh my god, yeah. Yeah,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: I've been super lucky. When it comes down to it,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I've been super lucky. I've been able to do all these.
- 1:04:43Speaker 10: you know, amazing things and got to work with some
- 1:04:47Speaker 10: amazing people.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: And Dwayne is one of them.
- 1:04:50Speaker 10: He's a great guy. And it's my favorite fight scene
- 1:05:00Speaker 10: that I've ever done. And I've been doing, you know,
- 1:05:02Speaker 10: fight scenes for a pretty long time. So, yeah, it's
- 1:05:06Speaker 10: pretty cool. You know, Jackie Chan's One of Jackie Chan's
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: stunt guys, Andy Chang, was second unit director. And, you know,
- 1:05:15Speaker 10: he kind of brought that flair to it. And working
- 1:05:17Speaker 10: with Pete Berg was awesome because Pete's just awesome. And,
- 1:05:23Speaker 10: you know, Dwayne was just.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Awesome, man.
- 1:05:26Speaker 10: I mean, it was just great. And that's, you know,
- 1:05:30Speaker 10: probably my most proud piece of work that I've done
- 1:05:34Speaker 10: as far as, like, fight scenes, pure fight scenes is concerned.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Well, and then, again, I had to touch on Crystal Skull.
- 1:05:42Speaker 8: As much as people have issues with it, that cemetery
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: scene is one of my favorites in the whole movie.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Like, I think that part's really cool.
- 1:05:49Speaker 10: That was, like, kind of the moment for me out
- 1:05:51Speaker 10: of everything that I've ever done. When we were on set, and, like,
- 1:05:58Speaker 10: award-winning set, like, you know, this was the real thing.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Universal, wind-blowing, lightning.
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: You know, I'm in the cemetery and Steven Spielberg's up
- 1:06:13Speaker 10: there like, while the wind's blowing and giving me the
- 1:06:16Speaker 10: thumbs up, you know. After some takes and like, that
- 1:06:22Speaker 10: was like, I was like, wow, this is pretty much
- 1:06:24Speaker 10: everything that I've ever dreamed of, you know.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: That was he to work with.
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: I mean, I'm assuming at that point he was pretty, pretty, uh,
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: Set in his ways as a director.
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: I mean, there was no riff on my part with
- 1:06:38Speaker 10: working with Steven Spielberg. It was just the most amazing
- 1:06:41Speaker 10: movie-making experience that I ever had, you know? We had
- 1:06:46Speaker 10: choreographed that stuff. I had the pleasure to actually do
- 1:06:49Speaker 10: some choreography on a Steven Spielberg film.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Like, that's pretty awesomeness. About as epic as you can
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: get right there. Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:06:57Speaker 10: And he's giving me the thumbs up, like I said.
- 1:07:00Speaker 10: It was just awesome, so... Um, but, uh, no, it
- 1:07:05Speaker 10: was just, that was, that was a moment. And then
- 1:07:07Speaker 10: of course, like Harrison Ford and all that, even, you know,
- 1:07:11Speaker 10: Shia and like the whole thing was just like.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Okay, this is cool. Like when I first got the
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: phone call, never forget it.
- 1:07:18Speaker 10: It's like somebody left a message for me and was like, yeah,
- 1:07:22Speaker 10: Indiana Jones is looking for you. I'm like, okay, that
- 1:07:26Speaker 10: might've been the best phone message that I've ever received.
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: In my life.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Was Harrison up for much of the fighting at that point,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: or was it a lot of stunt doubles?
- 1:07:37Speaker 10: No, he definitely took one of those shovels and beat
- 1:07:41Speaker 10: my face in until that mask broke. I was like, ow,
- 1:07:45Speaker 10: that really hurt, and my nose was all swollen up.
- 1:07:48Speaker 10: I was like, dude, it's Indiana Jones. I just got
- 1:07:50Speaker 10: smacked in the face with a shovel by Indiana Jones.
- 1:07:53Speaker 10: And I'm a cemetery warrior to boot.
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: There's only so many people that have been hit in
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: the face by Indiana Jones.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: So that's a special club.
- 1:08:00Speaker 10: And even less amount of people that have been killed
- 1:08:03Speaker 10: by him with a blow dart.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: That's true. I think it's actually just me. See, that's
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: impressive right there.
- 1:08:12Speaker 8: And you've got your GoFundMe campaign. I didn't know if
- 1:08:14Speaker 8: you wanted to tell people about that.
- 1:08:16Speaker 10: Yeah, my sister started a GoFundMe campaign on her own
- 1:08:20Speaker 10: to kind of support you know, some of the challenges
- 1:08:23Speaker 10: that we're going through in terms of just everything that
- 1:08:26Speaker 10: comes along with having your kidneys fail. And, you know,
- 1:08:30Speaker 10: I'm kind of on the trajectory to get a transplant. And,
- 1:08:34Speaker 10: you know, it's just a lot to it. But she
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: started it and she's raised a tremendous amount of money
- 1:08:41Speaker 10: in a short period of time. And it's really a
- 1:08:44Speaker 10: lot of it due to, you know, my fans. So
- 1:08:46Speaker 10: I want to thank everybody for having, you know, supported
- 1:08:49Speaker 10: me after all these years. Films, television, and even my
- 1:08:55Speaker 10: personal stuff. So I appreciate it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Thank you. Well, you've been great.
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: Here.
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: I'm going to go donate to it right now, and
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: I'm going to tell everybody else to do the same.
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: So thank you for talking with us today, man. Hey, Misty,
- 1:09:19Speaker 8: do you have your earbuds strapped in?
- 1:09:20Speaker 9: I do not.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Well, that's probably because.
- 1:09:22Speaker 8: You didn't go to tweakedaudio.com and get your tweaked audio
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: earbuds because they're awesome.
- 1:09:28Speaker 9: I don't like things in my ears.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: You're the worst pitch person ever.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: I am.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I have mine. They're awesome. They're the wood ones. They're deluxe.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Look at this shit. That's hardwood. That's pretty fancy.
- 1:09:39Speaker 9: I guess if I were to shove any implement in
- 1:09:41Speaker 9: my ear, it would be those.
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: We don't recommend you shove anything else in your ear.
- 1:09:44Speaker 8: That's kind of why we were hooked up with Tweaked Audio.
- 1:09:47Speaker 8: It's the only thing we recommend you shove in your
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: ear for medical purposes, really. If you damage your eardrum,
- 1:09:52Speaker 8: you're doing it wrong, and we take no responsibility.
- 1:09:55Speaker 9: Stop when you hit pressure.
- 1:09:57Speaker 8: You should only use Tweaked Audio, and when you do,
- 1:09:59Speaker 8: you go to their website, you go to pay for it,
- 1:10:01Speaker 8: you put in your code MELTDOWN, you'll get a discount.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: And free shipping immediately.
- 1:10:06Speaker 9: Is it better than 5% discount?
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Not that 5% discount that you were looking at in
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: that catalog.
- 1:10:11Speaker 9: The discount you will be getting from Tweaked Audio will
- 1:10:13Speaker 9: be a hell of a lot better than the 5%.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: It's a third off. You get a third off. Holy shit.
- 1:10:17Speaker 9: If I had math, that would be awesome.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: And free shipping.
- 1:10:21Speaker 9: Fuckin' A. You can't beat that.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: And they're super fast. Not with a stick.
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: I just went and got me some more, and it
- 1:10:26Speaker 8: was like a day, and they were there. They were
- 1:10:28Speaker 8: like lightning fast. Like the lightning on that girl's boobs
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: over there.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Lightning move fast. Lightning move fast. You're welcome, Tweaked Audio.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: You can put that on your envelopes. And you're welcome.
- 1:10:42Speaker 9: Faster than a geek size to lightning boobs.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 1:10:46Speaker 9: They're not going to like me promoting their item, are they?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Actually, they have a pretty good sense of humor. Tweaked
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Audio is kind of awesome.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: Just go to tweakedaudio.com. When you check out, enter the
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: discount code MELTDOWN. Then you'll get 33% off and free shipping.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Tweaked Audio. Sounds better.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Alright, so Misty has just had her first interaction with
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Doug Jones. Misty, are you okay?
- 1:11:11Speaker 9: There was cuddles involved. He cradled my head to his
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: body in like a fashion that I'm not sure if
- 1:11:17Speaker 9: it was anybody else that I would be completely comfortable with.
- 1:11:20Speaker 9: But because it was Doug Jones, it was delightful.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:11:23Speaker 8: I mean, you saw the cuddling of my head that happened. Normally,
- 1:11:29Speaker 8: you know, heartless bastard that I am, I should have
- 1:11:31Speaker 8: a problem with that. But it's Doug, so it's all okay.
- 1:11:34Speaker 9: And you know how I am about people in general
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: touching me, and it usually just never ends well.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: For those of you who are familiar with Misty, anti-social
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: creature that she is, hugged by essentially a stranger.
- 1:11:46Speaker 9: But it's, that's the thing, I don't think he's ever
- 1:11:49Speaker 9: a stranger to anybody.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: That's true, Doug has maybe never met a stranger.
- 1:11:53Speaker 9: I don't think so either, I think he just, I
- 1:11:56Speaker 9: think he loves all.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: He's never met someone who wasn't his friend.
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: I mean, immediately, that girl that walked up, they were
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: just kind of waiting there, and she was kind of
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: standing there, like, waiting for her, and he was like, hi,
- 1:12:07Speaker 8: come hug me.
- 1:12:08Speaker 9: I know it was so strange, but so, like, I can't,
- 1:12:11Speaker 9: you can't fight it.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: You can't fight the duck.
- 1:12:13Speaker 9: You just can't, and why would you want to?
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: There's not really any reason. You just, you just embrace
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: the embrace. Give yourself to Doug's bosom.
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: He's a very, very skinny man. There's not a lot
- 1:12:25Speaker 9: of bosom there, but it's, it's, it's, it's comfortable.
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: It's a good thing he's, Finn because he did make
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: me pick him up last time I saw him.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: It's a good thing. He's all height but no weight
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: to him, really.
- 1:12:37Speaker 9: He's like five pounds. One of my legs weighs more
- 1:12:40Speaker 9: than he does.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: He may have bird bones, too.
- 1:12:42Speaker 9: Yeah, he did get injured today, apparently, from what I heard.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: From hugging.
- 1:12:47Speaker 8: He hugged someone in some crazy cosplay costume and it
- 1:12:51Speaker 8: stabbed him in the face.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: So, damn you cosplayers. You've injured our beloved Doug.
- 1:12:56Speaker 9: How could you do that to us?
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: It's just uncalled for.
- 1:13:00Speaker 9: It was a helmet. I was wondering if it was
- 1:13:01Speaker 9: a Thor helmet, because they do have sharp points.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Sword and magic helmet.
- 1:13:05Speaker 7: Oh, man.
- 1:13:08Speaker 8: Hey, this is Doug Jones from the Hellboy movies and
- 1:13:10Speaker 8: the Silver Surfer and Pan's Labyrinth and Hocus Pocus, Falling Skies,
- 1:13:14Speaker 8: and so much more.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: But today, you are listening to Movie Meltdown. So, have
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: you seen anything lately?
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: I have.
- 1:13:29Speaker 9: I've watched Top Gear.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Aside from Top Gear.
- 1:13:33Speaker 9: Just for you, I actually sat down and watched. I
- 1:13:36Speaker 9: got caught up on a TV series. I've watched the
- 1:13:38Speaker 9: Scream TV series. I'm caught up. It's not done yet.
- 1:13:40Speaker 9: I think I'm six episodes.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: It's not a spoiler to say Bella Thorne's adorable.
- 1:13:45Speaker 9: And she dies.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: You've ruined it now.
- 1:13:47Speaker 9: Happens in the first episode. Happens in like the first
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: ten minutes.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: What a Drew Barrymore.
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: I know, right? She is a Drew Barrymore of the series.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Lame.
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: I mean, I like it. I mean, I've enjoyed it
- 1:13:57Speaker 9: so far. I haven't got pissed off at it. So
- 1:13:59Speaker 9: that's always a good thing. I've watched it up to
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: this point because I, like most of our generation, I
- 1:14:05Speaker 9: DVR'd it up until a certain point, you know. So
- 1:14:08Speaker 9: I had like five episodes saved up. I'm like, I'm
- 1:14:09Speaker 9: going to watch the hell out of this shit. So
- 1:14:11Speaker 9: I watched it. And you know, it's actually decent when
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: you're like, all right, I watched them all. I'll watch
- 1:14:16Speaker 9: the next episode. Sort of when it comes on.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: I kind of like keeping up with them as they
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: come out.
- 1:14:24Speaker 9: That's too much work. I like binging that shit.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: It's the only way I can keep track of it though.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: I can keep on top of it.
- 1:14:30Speaker 8: I never have 12 spare hours to sit down and
- 1:14:33Speaker 8: not do anything else.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: It's like an hour at a time. I can break
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: it down. I can kind of fit it in there.
- 1:14:37Speaker 9: I don't remember things. I can't remember when things actually
- 1:14:42Speaker 9: come on. It's like five weeks later. What do I have?
- 1:14:46Speaker 9: It's like a surprise. It's like a treat.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: That is true. I do lose track of like, what
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: the hell was on on Thursday? I don't remember now.
- 1:14:54Speaker 8: Sometimes I give up on shows because of that. So
- 1:14:57Speaker 8: they have to be pretty good if I actually won't
- 1:14:58Speaker 8: make a point to remember when they're coming on.
- 1:15:01Speaker 9: And then I watched a movie. Just last night.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: I watched Let Us Pray.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Let us as in? Let us pray.
- 1:15:09Speaker 7: Heads of lettuce.
- 1:15:10Speaker 9: No, that would be stupid.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: What if it was about bunnies or something?
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: No.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: Damn it.
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: You're ruining my review of this movie. There are no
- 1:15:18Speaker 9: bunnies in this movie whatsoever.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Would it be made better if there were bunnies?
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:15:22Speaker 9: It actually wasn't that bad. I was kind of surprised.
- 1:15:25Speaker 9: I mean, I'd actually heard some good things about it,
- 1:15:27Speaker 9: and I watched the trailer, and it was pretty impressive.
- 1:15:29Speaker 9: And again, it's like, it had nobody in it that
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: I know. It's like some foreign-y, it's not like foreign-foreign.
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: They talk regular, or they have accents. The accents are
- 1:15:38Speaker 9: so thick sometimes that I can't understand what the fuck
- 1:15:40Speaker 9: they're saying. I don't know if it's Scottish-y, whatever. I
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: could probably look it up, but that would involve getting
- 1:15:45Speaker 9: my phone out, and that's just way too much work.
- 1:15:48Speaker 9: I think the main star guy who actually might have
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: a name, whose name I don't actually know, he is
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: one of the guys from Game of Thrones, I think.
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: But if anybody out there actually watches that and might care,
- 1:16:00Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: There's a few people that watch that show.
- 1:16:02Speaker 9: I don't. I've never watched Game of Thrones, and I
- 1:16:04Speaker 9: have no real desire to, because I just don't care.
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: But one of the guys from the show is in
- 1:16:08Speaker 9: the movie, so yay.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Which one is this?
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Oh, that show. I thought you were talking here.
- 1:16:15Speaker 9: No, one of the guys from the show, Game of Thrones,
- 1:16:17Speaker 9: is in the movie Let Us Pray. P-R-E-Y. In case
- 1:16:20Speaker 9: you get confused, there's like, pray.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Hmm, alright, that's different. So what is the overall take
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: on this movie?
- 1:16:30Speaker 9: It's a night in the, what's this half-ass shitty looking
- 1:16:33Speaker 9: police station? I've never seen one. It's like some ghetto
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: police station in the middle of wherever they are. And
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: all these people are getting arrested, and they're there, and
- 1:16:42Speaker 9: then there's a guy who shows up, and he's pretty
- 1:16:45Speaker 9: much kind of there to make them atone for their
- 1:16:46Speaker 9: sins and stuff like that.
- 1:16:48Speaker 13: Alright.
- 1:16:49Speaker 9: And there's just, everybody has their secrets and their things
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: that they should not have done, and he gets them.
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: In a roundabout way.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: No spoilers involved.
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: I didn't say, like.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Leave it at that. No spoilers.
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: I mean, I think from the trailer, you pretty much
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: get the basic concept.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: It is kind of horror, right?
- 1:17:15Speaker 9: But it's not entirely. It's more like a slow build.
- 1:17:19Speaker 9: Stuff starts happening. You're like, what the hell's going on?
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: And even at the end, you're like, what? Is that
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: what just happened?
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Is this a perplexing movie? Am I going to be confused?
- 1:17:29Speaker 9: I don't know. I mean, I'm still thinking about it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: I just watched it last night.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Assuming nobody wants to hear about the Descendants.
- 1:17:35Speaker 9: Go for it. Somebody might want to hear about it.
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: I just thought it.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Was an interesting idea. It is funny that it's, I mean,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: there's no other way to do it than having it
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: run by the Disney channel, but it's a Disney like
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: live action and they're revisiting their own villains more or less.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: It's a book that some lady wrote that's like Isle
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: of the Damned or something. I don't know.
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: It's a book that some lady wrote and it's basically,
- 1:17:58Speaker 8: it's a side fan fiction-y kind of a version where
- 1:18:01Speaker 8: like all of the, like the, the king and queen
- 1:18:03Speaker 8: of whoever's reigning in this Disneyland take all the villains
- 1:18:06Speaker 8: and put them on an island and then put like
- 1:18:08Speaker 8: a magic barrier over it and they're like trapped on
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: that island.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: So then it's like, you know.
- 1:18:11Speaker 9: Seems like a horrible idea.
- 1:18:12Speaker 7: Well, then it's.
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: Like 20 years go by and so now the villains
- 1:18:16Speaker 8: all live there and all the bad characters, I guess,
- 1:18:18Speaker 8: from the different, you know, worlds are stuck on there
- 1:18:20Speaker 8: and they just carry on with their own little lives
- 1:18:22Speaker 8: so they all have children now.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: So now it's the prince that takes over.
- 1:18:27Speaker 9: Proper gladiator footwear.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: We need to It's a top for you to make.
- 1:18:33Speaker 9: Gladiator guy walking by, and I'm pretty sure he's wearing
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: the sandal version of Crocs.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: You've seen a few that.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: You didn't approve of, footwear-wise.
- 1:18:42Speaker 9: Yeah, don't be a gladiator wearing sandals, like flip-flop sandals
- 1:18:47Speaker 9: or like Crocs. Gladiators did not wear Crocs.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: It's not period appropriate.
- 1:18:52Speaker 9: It's not at all. Anyways, children of villains.
- 1:18:56Speaker 8: So then the children of the villains, like the prince
- 1:18:58Speaker 8: that's coming up, he's just about to be crowned king
- 1:19:01Speaker 8: and he decides like, well, the kids over there are innocent.
- 1:19:03Speaker 8: They didn't do anything, so why are they trapped there?
- 1:19:05Speaker 8: So he like deems... to let them come over and
- 1:19:08Speaker 8: be part of their little fancy, wonderful Disney prep school
- 1:19:12Speaker 8: kind of thing. So they pick four kids to be
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: the test group or the PR version of this plan.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: So it's the daughter of Maleficent, the daughter of the
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: evil queen, the son of Jafar, and the son of
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Corella de Vil.
- 1:19:27Speaker 9: I think I have heard of this now.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and they all go there.
- 1:19:30Speaker 8: And basically Maleficent is trying to get them to steal
- 1:19:33Speaker 8: the fairy godmother's wand.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: So they can take over. It's an interesting plot, actually.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I was impressed.
- 1:19:38Speaker 8: They did a decent job on it. Again, in the
- 1:19:42Speaker 8: early promos, they don't really mention it's a musical.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Is there a little shingin'? Well, again, I will give
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: them credit.
- 1:19:49Speaker 8: There is a really well-choreographed dance number in the beginning
- 1:19:52Speaker 8: that I'm just like, from a technical standpoint, they did
- 1:19:55Speaker 8: not half-ass it. It is a well-choreographed dance number. And
- 1:19:59Speaker 8: then with like a ton of backup dancers. And then
- 1:20:01Speaker 8: like later there's a lot more like Disney princess singing
- 1:20:05Speaker 8: songs kind of stuff. But again, they're all well written.
- 1:20:07Speaker 8: Like it's Disney doesn't, you know, they got the money
- 1:20:09Speaker 8: to put together a project.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: So musical or not.
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: All the kids at the prep school, are they like
- 1:20:14Speaker 9: the daughters and sons of like regular like Snow White?
- 1:20:18Speaker 8: Of like, yeah, there's like they're hanging out with... Mulan's
- 1:20:21Speaker 8: daughter is there. The fairy godmother herself has a daughter.
- 1:20:25Speaker 9: I remember seeing, I saw the dolls at Toys R Us.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: It's an interesting concept. It's kind of fun. I was
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: entertained by it.
- 1:20:33Speaker 9: Was it fun for the whole family?
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I suppose it was. That's always good. And Dove
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Cameron's awesome.
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: Who?
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Dove Cameron. She's Melissa's daughter. She's Mal. She's their new star.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: She's going to be awesome. She, again, like all of them,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: she can sing and she's on her own TV show
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: so she can act too. She's like that next wave
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: that's going to break out. Dove Cameron. Telling you now.
- 1:20:54Speaker 9: No idea who that is.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Just give it three, four years.
- 1:20:58Speaker 9: Okay.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: Just telling you now.
- 1:21:00Speaker 9: I bought some art. I was pretty excited about that.
- 1:21:02Speaker 9: $ 5 art is the best art there is.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: You are an art fan.
- 1:21:05Speaker 9: I am when it's cheap. I like sketches.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: But handmade. You like real art.
- 1:21:08Speaker 9: I do. I don't like prints. I mean, prints are
- 1:21:10Speaker 9: okay after a certain thing. Fingerprints. No.
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 1:21:13Speaker 9: But you know what I mean. I like sketches. If
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: somebody will do a little sketch, it's like $ 5. Yeah,
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: I'll buy that shit. That's probably worth at least $ 10.
- 1:21:19Speaker 9: Probably more than that. Because other people in there, they
- 1:21:22Speaker 9: were selling stuff that was at least similar quality for
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: at least twice as much, if not $ 20. $ 20, yeah.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: There was a good amount of $ 20 ones in there.
- 1:21:31Speaker 9: But for $ 5, I'm like, hell yeah, I'll buy four
- 1:21:32Speaker 9: of them things.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: And they were good. They were actually... Again, I've seen
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: some that I'm like, they're trying, but I wouldn't buy that.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: I feel like my.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Iffy artistic skills could.
- 1:21:43Speaker 8: Do some of these. And then there are other ones
- 1:21:44Speaker 8: that I'm like, no, they're good. They've actually trained themselves.
- 1:21:49Speaker 8: Probably so.
- 1:21:50Speaker 9: But I keep walking by the booth and I'm like, alright,
- 1:21:52Speaker 9: they filled in the spots with the ones I bought.
- 1:21:54Speaker 9: Other people need to go buy more things so that
- 1:21:56Speaker 9: they'll fill more spots in so I can have new.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I think they were all sitting on the table, though.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: I think they had most of them.
- 1:22:01Speaker 9: There was a couple of them on the table that
- 1:22:03Speaker 9: I saw. But I want more options. A lot of
- 1:22:05Speaker 9: people have a book so you can put... I'm like, yeah.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:10Speaker 9: I'm excited about those. Like I said, I like cheap
- 1:22:12Speaker 9: hand-done art. I don't actually do anything with it. I
- 1:22:15Speaker 9: buy it and it just sits in an envelope somewhere.
- 1:22:17Speaker 9: But I buy it and I'm excited about it.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: You got that going.
- 1:22:20Speaker 8: You need to get like a little hand-drawn gallery going
- 1:22:23Speaker 8: at your house.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:22:26Speaker 9: People here have been nice, but I wish they'd be
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: just a little bit less talky.
- 1:22:30Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that's just the case-by-case basis. I think
- 1:22:34Speaker 8: it's totally different. And that's what I was noticing in there.
- 1:22:36Speaker 8: I was like, The artists seem way less talky than
- 1:22:39Speaker 8: the authors. The authors are always like, hey.
- 1:22:42Speaker 7: Want to read this book?
- 1:22:43Speaker 9: Hey, do you like to read?
- 1:22:44Speaker 8: My favorite, that artist guy that like, he kind of
- 1:22:47Speaker 8: half glanced up while he was drawing something. He was like, hey,
- 1:22:50Speaker 8: he handed us a flyer while he was still drawing
- 1:22:53Speaker 8: and immediately looked back down. Like he did not really
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: make eye contact with us. He just saw there were
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: people coming. He continued drawing. He didn't interact with us
- 1:23:01Speaker 8: at all other than an acknowledgement that we walked past,
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: handed us the flyer while still drawing, continued on drawing.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Didn't even look up after that. We just kept walking.
- 1:23:09Speaker 8: I'm like, yeah, there's an artist. He's in his own
- 1:23:15Speaker 8: artist world right now doing his thing.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: I don't know. The author seemed like, I.
- 1:23:20Speaker 7: Wrote that book. I'm done. Now I want to talk.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: That's all I want to do.
- 1:23:22Speaker 9: I don't talk to you. Everybody who walks by. I
- 1:23:26Speaker 9: try not to make eye contact. If at all possible.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: In most situations, it's for the best.
- 1:23:32Speaker 9: Anything else? Jason Mewes is... hot mess bun he's got
- 1:23:37Speaker 9: going on?
- 1:23:38Speaker 8: His weird old lady bun that he had on top
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: of his head. I don't know what is up with him.
- 1:23:42Speaker 8: And he was like super hyper.
- 1:23:44Speaker 9: Very animated.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: He was very animated when talking on his cell phone.
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: Oh, always.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: He's reproduced.
- 1:23:51Speaker 9: That's frightening.
- 1:23:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know what to do with that either.
- 1:23:55Speaker 9: I don't think anybody does. I saw a picture of
- 1:23:59Speaker 9: him holding the child. Even the baby's like, what the
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: fuck is going on?
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: He's telling me you're not my dad.
- 1:24:03Speaker 9: Oh, God.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: What am I going to do with that?
- 1:24:06Speaker 9: I've been walking around for a couple hours, so I
- 1:24:07Speaker 9: think I've used up all my energy.
- 1:24:11Speaker 7: All right.
- 1:24:12Speaker 8: That about wraps it up here at Fandom Fest 2015.
- 1:24:14Speaker 8: We'd like to thank them for letting us be part
- 1:24:16Speaker 8: of the show. Again, if you want to learn more
- 1:24:18Speaker 8: about them, it is fandomfest.com.
- 1:24:20Speaker 9: There's an elvishy Elvis.
- 1:24:23Speaker 8: He's got old school Vegas Elvis costume on, giant hair,
- 1:24:28Speaker 8: but with elf ears and pointy, pointy shoes.
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: They are quite pointy.
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: Very strange.
- 1:24:34Speaker 7: All right.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: On that note, let's get out of here. Otherwise, that
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: about does it. We will return next time. Same Geek Feed.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: Thanks for listening.
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: Bye.
- 1:25:10Speaker 6: Oh, baby, I'm going to teach you what love's all
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: about tonight. Trust me, honey, everything's going to be all right.
- 1:25:23Speaker 14: Oh, yeah.
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: Just do like I do. Put your arms around me.
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: Kneel tight.
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: Enjoy yourself, baby.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Don't fight. All you gotta do is just let yourself go.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: All you need is just a little rehearsal.
- 1:26:24Speaker 7: The first thing.
- 1:26:25Speaker 14: That He's gonna be just fine.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Just kiss me nice and easy Take your time Cause baby.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: I'm the only one here.
- 1:27:07Speaker 14: In line All you gotta do.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: Is just Let yourself.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: Go Let yourself.
- 1:27:19Speaker 6: Go Let yourself go.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Oh my god, why?
- 1:27:24Speaker 10: What?
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: What is wrong with people? Stop.
- 1:27:27Speaker 8: Stop making that weird squeaky chirpy dog bird. I don't
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: know what the thing is, but they're walking around making
- 1:27:34Speaker 8: a noise and they need to stop it.
- 1:27:35Speaker 9: At first I thought it was like a squeak toy.
- 1:27:36Speaker 9: I'm like, what the fuck is it? Is it some toy?
- 1:27:38Speaker 9: And then it was the girl in the booth, I guess.
- 1:27:40Speaker 9: And then like there was more of them. They were everywhere.
- 1:27:42Speaker 9: And then it was just random people. At first I
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: thought it was like maybe like a specific cosplay thing
- 1:27:47Speaker 9: because it was only girls in like cute little outfits
- 1:27:48Speaker 9: or whatever. Then it was just random people and I'm
- 1:27:50Speaker 9: like What the hell? Is it some... It's got to
- 1:27:53Speaker 9: be some device that they put in their mouth to
- 1:27:55Speaker 9: make the sound. It can't be just like an inherently
- 1:27:57Speaker 9: natural sound from anybody.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: It's unnatural regardless.
- 1:28:01Speaker 9: It is very unnatural. I do not like it.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: People, stop making weird chirpy noises.
- 1:28:06Speaker 9: And unless you're Doug Jones, don't hug me.
- 1:28:09Speaker 10: Except for my boyfriend.
- 1:28:10Speaker 9: Boyfriend's okay.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Even he's pushing his luck.
- 1:28:13Speaker 12: Sometimes.
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
