- 0:36Speaker 1: Tell us Frank Sinatra's favorite meal? What like? If you
- 0:39Speaker 1: went to Patsy's and said to you make me Sinatra's
- 0:42Speaker 1: favorite meal, what would you make?
- 0:44Speaker 2: He liked it the auditok reaganot appetizers and then he'd
- 0:48Speaker 2: have some kind of short pasti the pen of Rigatonio
- 0:51Speaker 2: Sperali with the tomato basil sauce which is onions, no garlic.
- 0:57Speaker 2: If I made a galic sauce for him, sometimes you
- 0:59Speaker 2: have the clams the garlic sauce. It would be the
- 1:01Speaker 2: whole garlic. We brace it in the olive oil and
- 1:04Speaker 2: take it out. You see, you had the flavor and
- 1:05Speaker 2: then the edge of tomatoes and clams and white wine
- 1:08Speaker 2: and all the spices, and he loved it. From the
- 1:11Speaker 2: main course, the veal and chicken milonnaise, it's his scillapini beat,
- 1:14Speaker 2: very fawns, flours, sea egg and seasoned bread from fried pills,
- 1:18Speaker 2: Chris a lit will rouble, a tomato salad and most
- 1:21Speaker 2: importantly red wine vinegar nobalsmic Fan.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Well, that's a very good meal. But if you go
- 1:27Speaker 1: to Patti look at the menu, there's probably twenty five
- 1:29Speaker 1: better things to order there.
- 1:30Speaker 2: What that's just well, my favorite I like, I like
- 1:33Speaker 2: pasta with cheese, So my favorite is rigatoni so andino
- 1:37Speaker 2: with the tomato basil. Regard to Milton Mola, Palmachan, all
- 1:40Speaker 2: the Palmegan's and Gueeny with the clam sauce. Popular h
- 1:44Speaker 2: anything with fish, locks, the fry, the owl, I think
- 1:47Speaker 2: it's spectacular, makes a great dish, and you know, just
- 1:50Speaker 2: a lot of great Southern Italian classics. The heart of
- 1:53Speaker 2: the menu the same. Only three chefs all these years
- 1:55Speaker 2: was my grandfather, squal Patsy Scott, the Millow, my dad
- 1:59Speaker 2: and my else. It's over eighty one years now and
- 2:02Speaker 2: this Friday would have been Frank one hundred and tenth
- 2:05Speaker 2: birthday and we always celebrate his birthday at a restaurant
- 2:07Speaker 2: with a beautiful muncheon. From our twelfth to three, it's
- 2:12Speaker 2: going to be halted by Adriana Trigiani. She's a very
- 2:15Speaker 2: famous author. She's written I think twenty seven books. Our
- 2:18Speaker 2: latest book was A View from Lake Cuomo, which we
- 2:22Speaker 2: actually had the book signing and our restaurant. It was
- 2:24Speaker 2: just sold out, so much sold out. We added a
- 2:26Speaker 2: second event and so popular, great stuff. We're going to
- 2:30Speaker 2: have some video tributes also. We are not in person,
- 2:33Speaker 2: but video tributes. We have Michael Biblay and Robert Dobby,
- 2:37Speaker 2: Steve Longame son David Beautiful because they loved the play too,
- 2:42Speaker 2: and Gene Kelly's wife Patricia Kelly beautiful stuff. And the latest,
- 2:47Speaker 2: the real surprise guest we just added is Frank Sinatra's granddaughter, A. J.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Lambert is going to be there and it's just so exciting.
- 2:55Speaker 2: She's such a such a sweet woman. That's Nancy's daughter
- 2:59Speaker 2: and we're gonna be so happy. We've got Steve Maglio
- 3:02Speaker 2: who performs at the Carnegie Club. The Sinatra tributes all
- 3:06Speaker 2: the time.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's this. Friday is Sinatra's birthday, the.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Twelfth, so you can Friday is the birthday.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Can people go to this Sinatra luncheon?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yes, we have about five seats left. They can call
- 3:19Speaker 2: the restaurant two one two two four seven three four
- 3:22Speaker 2: nine one two one two two four seven three four
- 3:25Speaker 2: nine one includes all this great entertainment and of course, uh,
- 3:29Speaker 2: Frank's favorite meal as between on some things we've talked about,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and it's going to be a great time. We always, uh,
- 3:35Speaker 2: we always love remembering him.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Hony people, how much is it to go to this
- 3:39Speaker 1: Frank Sinatra Luncheon?
- 3:40Speaker 2: It's a one ninety five plus taxi.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Tip one ye, yes, well that includes music and the
- 3:48Speaker 1: food and the whole thing.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Music, everything, the whole nine yards and it's uh, it
- 3:53Speaker 2: always sells act this this year. We just had a
- 3:55Speaker 2: few few seats left. It's always so much fun and
- 3:59Speaker 2: everybody enjoys. It's just a wonderful remembrance of such a
- 4:03Speaker 2: spectacular man. And I know how much you loved him
- 4:06Speaker 2: and how much you know about him. You're definitely an
- 4:09Speaker 2: encyclopedia when it comes to Frank Sinatra. But you just
- 4:12Speaker 2: take a look at the wall of all the photos
- 4:14Speaker 2: we have, and almost everyone could be traced back to
- 4:17Speaker 2: Frank Sinatra, like he brought in Jackie Gleeson, who brought
- 4:20Speaker 2: in the Rosemary Coon, who brought in George Corney, you know.
- 4:22Speaker 2: And Jerry Stilla was very close friends with Nancy Sinatra,
- 4:27Speaker 2: and of course they brought their son, Ben Stola. He
- 4:29Speaker 2: wrote the phot Nancy and the Sinatra wrote the forward
- 4:31Speaker 2: to my first cookbook, and Ben Stilla wrote the forward
- 4:34Speaker 2: to my second cookbook. And we sell, you know, during
- 4:37Speaker 2: the holidays, we sell a lot of that as a gift.
- 4:39Speaker 2: If you don't know what to get anyone, we have
- 4:41Speaker 2: apasta sauces, mariinada, frodiallo, tomato basil and vodka sauce. You
- 4:46Speaker 2: can get the cookbooks, and we have a little gift
- 4:48Speaker 2: box at some pasta and coffee. If you don't know
- 4:51Speaker 2: what to get anyone, you go to our website which
- 4:53Speaker 2: is Patchies without the apostrophe p A T s y
- 4:57Speaker 2: s dot com. And you said it's all only location
- 5:01Speaker 2: where between Ast and Broadway by Connegie Hall and no great.
- 5:06Speaker 1: When you go to Patsy's, do not rush right into
- 5:09Speaker 1: the restaurant when you walk through the door, stop and
- 5:11Speaker 1: look at the pictures on the wall. These are all
- 5:13Speaker 1: the customers through the years, all famous, famous faces. Look
- 5:16Speaker 1: at all the pictures and look carefully the end of
- 5:18Speaker 1: the bar. There's a beautiful statue of Frank Sinatra there.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So that one we got. It was commissioned by Tina Sinatra.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I think there's only a nine hundred limited edition. We
- 5:28Speaker 2: have that for many, many years. And then on the
- 5:30Speaker 2: upstairs we have a smaller statue of Frank Dean and
- 5:34Speaker 2: Sammy the rat Pack. A great, great remembrance. Is great fun.
- 5:40Speaker 2: We're is so lucky because even like last week, my
- 5:44Speaker 2: wife is a big country music fan. And Kenny Chesney
- 5:47Speaker 2: came in and he said the first time he came
- 5:50Speaker 2: here was seeming like thirty years ago because he heard
- 5:52Speaker 2: it was Frank Sinatra's favorite place. So you can't ask
- 5:55Speaker 2: for a better pr guy than that.
- 5:56Speaker 1: All right, now, let me ask you an important question.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Let's Sinatra would always pick up the check. Let's there
- 6:00Speaker 1: was a whole bunch of people to check was a
- 6:02Speaker 1: thousand dollars? What would Sinatra tip on that?
- 6:06Speaker 2: Oh? He was easily thirty thirty five percent without And
- 6:10Speaker 2: that's not including the hundreds he threw out everybody when
- 6:12Speaker 2: one hundred dollars was a lot of money. Yes, he was.
- 6:17Speaker 2: He was so generous. I mean, he just was in
- 6:19Speaker 2: every way, I mean, with his philanthropy, with his help,
- 6:23Speaker 2: and the most important point, and I know you know
- 6:25Speaker 2: this Mark was he wanted to be anonymous. He just
- 6:28Speaker 2: wanted to do it because he wanted to do it,
- 6:30Speaker 2: not to get his name in the paper. Yeah, and
- 6:32Speaker 2: that's just such a wonderful quality. The man was so
- 6:34Speaker 2: ahead of his time, even with civil rights. Thought you,
- 6:37Speaker 2: I don't have to tell you all those stories.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Now when he was in the restaurants, Big Tipper ended
- 6:41Speaker 1: out hundreds and that was like thousands back then. Also,
- 6:45Speaker 1: how many times would he pick up the check for
- 6:47Speaker 1: other tables?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Oh, so many times. There's so many times. The most
- 6:51Speaker 2: famous one I think I probably told you New York
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yankees were in they won the World Series. He they
- 6:55Speaker 2: introduced to each other and at the end of the
- 6:57Speaker 2: night Sinatra left and Billie Martin was manager back then.
- 7:01Speaker 2: He says, all right, now that Frank left, we can leave.
- 7:03Speaker 2: He says, give me the check. He says, too late,
- 7:04Speaker 2: Frank paid for you for.
- 7:06Speaker 1: The whole team, the entire Yankees.
- 7:08Speaker 2: There was one time, Mark, I don't know if I
- 7:11Speaker 2: told you this story. One time when he said to
- 7:12Speaker 2: my father, he says, me and Barbara and another couple
- 7:15Speaker 2: were coming in. It's okay for the other man to
- 7:18Speaker 2: pay the check. And Ty came to pay the check.
- 7:22Speaker 2: He gave him his gold American Express card. It was denied.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It wind up that that was the president of American
- 7:28Speaker 2: Express and his goal call is denied. He thought Sinatra
- 7:31Speaker 2: was playing a practical joke on him.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And he was I don't know how he pulled that off,
- 7:34Speaker 1: but that was Jim Robinson, right, the chairman of America Express.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Somehow Sinatra got his card to be denied.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they were friends. They lived close together on pom Springs. Yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 2: it was so. I was the one time because he
- 7:46Speaker 2: said I don't want I don't want to owe anyone anything.
- 7:49Speaker 2: You know, because when he was down and out, nobody
- 7:51Speaker 2: wanted to talk to him. When he came back, he says,
- 7:53Speaker 2: now I don't want nothing from nobody. So God bless him.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Well, if you want to celebrate Sinatra, this Friday is
- 7:59Speaker 1: the birthday Frank Sinatra. It's December twelfth and they've been
- 8:02Speaker 1: doing this every year for a million years, the Sinatra
- 8:05Speaker 1: Birthday party, and it's at Patsies. They'll be live music,
- 8:08Speaker 1: singing and some well known people there. And so what
- 8:12Speaker 1: now what do people do? If they want to come,
- 8:14Speaker 1: you make a reservation.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Please please give us a call at the restaurant. It's

- 8:45Speaker 1: Very good pictures, all sorts of stuff there. We only
- 8:47Speaker 1: got a few seconds left. Sinatra always brought a lot
- 8:49Speaker 1: of people to dinner. What's the biggest unto rush you
- 8:52Speaker 1: ever came in with?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Oh, he was there when he when he did for
- 8:57Speaker 2: the seventy fifth birthday of James. He took over the
- 9:01Speaker 2: whole upstairs and it was probably probably about eighty or
- 9:04Speaker 2: eighty five people came time to sing Happy Birthday to
- 9:08Speaker 2: James Cagney. Dean Martin was singing, Sammy Davis was doing
- 9:12Speaker 2: a soft shoe, and Sinatra was just about to join
- 9:15Speaker 2: him to sing Happy Birthday to James Cagney. My father
- 9:18Speaker 2: said wait, wait, Frank, you can't do this, and Frank
- 9:20Speaker 2: Sinatra got mad. What can I do? My father said,
- 9:23Speaker 2: I can't afford this kind of entertainment here.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But if you want to see and again, when you
- 9:29Speaker 1: walk into Patsy's, don't rush in, stop us through. You
- 9:32Speaker 1: come through the door and look at the pictures on
