- 0:19Speaker 2: It's showtime, folks!
- 0:35Speaker 3: Hi, this is Captain Mary Stewart, and you're listening to
- 0:39Speaker 3: Movie Meltdown.
- 0:51Speaker 4: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And now, direct from his worldwide tour, we proudly present the.
- 0:59Speaker 4: One and only Leonard Catskill. Right here, right here.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Good evening, ladies and germs. It's great to be here.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Of course, at my age, it's great to be anywhere.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But seriously, folks, I'm here to tell you about this
- 1:15Speaker 1: new movie. It's called Hot Beeps, and it's about me
- 1:18Speaker 1: and my pals.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Here's Valtown.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I don't want to say he's dim-witted, but he makes
- 1:23Speaker 1: an electric toothbrush look like a genius. This is Aquacom.
- 1:28Speaker 1: She was Popular Mechanics Playmate of the Month for June 1994.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Get a load of those components. Wowie, wow.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And then there's Philco.
- 1:38Speaker 6: He's a great kid.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But he had no sense of humor until he met me.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Now the problem is, we're all being chased by this
- 1:46Speaker 1: overgrown squad car named Crime Buster. Don't get excited. Don't
- 1:51Speaker 1: get excited.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Remain stationary for a computer check.
- 1:55Speaker 1: He's a cross between Darth Vader and a Sherman tank.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I've heard of party crashes, but this is ridiculous. But
- 2:02Speaker 1: believe me, folks, this movie's got a lot going for it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: There's action, adventure, romance, raccoons, even people. Hey, kid, behave yourself. Oh, yeah,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and I'm in the movie, too. But seriously, folks, don't
- 2:24Speaker 1: forget to see Universal's new movie, Heartbeats, and it's coming
- 2:27Speaker 1: for you-know-when. And speaking of Christmas, Andy Kaufman, Bernadette Peters
- 2:32Speaker 1: in Heartbeats, coming this Christmas.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's holiday entertainment for everyone.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I am a dancer, but she.
- 3:01Speaker 7: Welcome to Movie Meltdown Sofa Theater.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Once again, I am Brian. This is Roger.
- 3:17Speaker 8: I'm Joni.
- 3:18Speaker 4: I'm Eddie Price. I like to party. follow that up
- 3:24Speaker 4: oh god.
- 3:25Speaker 9: Marlena that's all she does not like to party she's
- 3:30Speaker 9: partying right now.
- 3:32Speaker 4: They were trying to decide if they had fun activities
- 3:34Speaker 4: to go with their name i.
- 3:36Speaker 9: Have a lot unusually large collection of polka.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Records that's an interesting factoid i'll give you.
- 3:42Speaker 10: That moving on this week's sofa theater feature is heart
- 3:49Speaker 10: beeps beep the year is 1981 The world is a
- 3:53Speaker 10: weird place. Director Alan Arkish. The plot, and again, this
- 3:59Speaker 10: is from IMDb, and usually they're badly worded, so don't
- 4:02Speaker 10: blame me for this. Val and Aqua are two household
- 4:05Speaker 10: servant robots who start feeling emotions for each other. After
- 4:08Speaker 10: falling in love, they decide to escape from their servitude
- 4:11Speaker 10: and attempt to start a family of their own.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I disagree with a lot of that, but.
- 4:16Speaker 9: At all.
- 4:17Speaker 10: So, yeah, after that stupid plot line.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Spoiler alert, because, yeah, I don't really know what to
- 4:23Speaker 4: ruin with this, but we probably will. Spoiler alert in general.
- 4:26Speaker 10: So if you weren't scarred by this as a child,
- 4:29Speaker 10: you know, go take it upon yourself to inflict it
- 4:31Speaker 10: upon you now and see how you feel about it.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Because, I don't know, it's very different watching it as
- 4:36Speaker 4: an adult.
- 4:37Speaker 11: I was slightly scarred when I was a child, only
- 4:39Speaker 11: because of, like, the themes that, you know, you're watching...
- 4:44Speaker 11: robots dealing with human emotions or whatever, and it came
- 4:49Speaker 11: to the point of them shutting down or running.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Out of power. And, yeah, as a kid, it really
- 4:56Speaker 4: messed me up. It's kind of heavy.
- 4:58Speaker 10: Because it does enter into a lot of really weird
- 5:01Speaker 10: areas if you want to stop and think about it.
- 5:03Speaker 10: And really, when you're a kid, you kind of stop
- 5:04Speaker 10: and think about it more. Like, I'm looking at it now,
- 5:07Speaker 10: and people are just like, whatever, no big deal. But
- 5:09Speaker 10: as a kid, that shit kind of, like, hits you.
- 5:11Speaker 10: It's kind of these big themes really are big themes
- 5:15Speaker 10: when you're a little kid.
- 5:16Speaker 9: It didn't really strike me that way because I think, like,
- 5:20Speaker 9: I have things that run on batteries that die all
- 5:22Speaker 9: the time. I just plug them into the wall.
- 5:24Speaker 4: But they still die.
- 5:26Speaker 10: So within that, you know, that, and again, there's no
- 5:29Speaker 10: way to assume that they'll come back to the same.
- 5:32Speaker 10: I've had many things die and they're just gone. And
- 5:35Speaker 10: I never have that functional.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 10: Well that too, but sometimes they're just never functional again. So,
- 5:42Speaker 10: you know, in a way it is very much, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 10: centered around that. So, I don't know.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Where all do we want to begin on this one?
- 5:51Speaker 4: I like how it starts out with, what is it, Robobot?
- 5:55Speaker 4: Like Crimebot? Crimebuster Deluxe. Crimebuster Deluxe.
- 5:58Speaker 6: My name is Crimebuster 00719. I'm a cop. My crime-fighting
- 6:06Speaker 6: computer contains one million microchips, thousands of circuits, and a
- 6:11Speaker 6: couple of loose wires.
- 6:17Speaker 12: You might pay.
- 6:20Speaker 11: Is this Tourette's non... Well, it doesn't have Tourette's because
- 6:24Speaker 11: it doesn't cuss. It just doesn't stop speaking. And he's
- 6:28Speaker 11: very violent. It's very violent and patriotic, apparently.
- 6:31Speaker 4: I like that guy. Yeah, and he's awesome.
- 6:34Speaker 9: He's like a skinhead robot. No offense, skinheads.
- 6:37Speaker 4: No, he's not.
- 6:40Speaker 10: I never got skinhead, but it's like this all-terrain tracked.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Vehicle, multi-weapon spewing, like.
- 6:49Speaker 11: police bot that has a really jacked up sense of
- 6:54Speaker 11: the law.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I guess right and wrong yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 8: Earnest goes to the future yes yeah he thinks he's
- 7:02Speaker 8: doing the right thing but he's not no not at.
- 7:06Speaker 10: All he is in his own little robotic mind he's
- 7:10Speaker 10: saving everyone.
- 7:11Speaker 11: I thought that was cool how it started out with
- 7:12Speaker 11: like him just trouncing through the woods or whatever blowing
- 7:15Speaker 11: crap up blowing shit up which is awesome poor bunny
- 7:19Speaker 11: I like.
- 7:19Speaker 9: This movie from the beginning because it opened with an explosion.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Scene yeah See? That's always good. We like explosions. Just
- 7:26Speaker 4: in general.
- 7:27Speaker 13: People.
- 7:27Speaker 10: And heavily armed off-road vehicles that speak and have a
- 7:32Speaker 10: sinister mind of their own.
- 7:32Speaker 8: Michael Bay don't listen to this part. We don't want
- 7:35Speaker 8: any more explosions.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Well, he probably watched this too.
- 7:39Speaker 11: He'd have dumped trillions and trillions of dollars into this
- 7:42Speaker 11: movie and it just would have been out of control
- 7:44Speaker 11: if he had had.
- 7:44Speaker 4: I don't know, license. And that's what's sad is it
- 7:47Speaker 4: would have been like... You think of this would be
- 7:50Speaker 4: ridiculous enough, but think of Michael Bay. Like, you would
- 7:53Speaker 4: lose any sense of story at all.
- 7:56Speaker 10: You would just be crying about exploding shit for two hours.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Yeah, they'd be in the city, and there'd just be, like, devastation.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Skyscrapers are collapsing.
- 8:04Speaker 8: You'd just see flashes of Andy Kaufman's face every five minutes.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And a big patriotic shot of the flag.
- 8:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 4: See, that's weird. In slow-mo.
- 8:12Speaker 11: What, Bernadette Peters and Andy Kaufman are the main stars.
- 8:16Speaker 10: Yep.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Which... I don't remember really Andy Kaufman ever being in
- 8:21Speaker 4: a movie that I've watched. Well, that's the thing. Like,
- 8:25Speaker 4: I remember Taxi. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 10: I mean, this is probably the least weird character he
- 8:32Speaker 10: ever did. Like, everything he does is a weird character.
- 8:35Speaker 10: So I don't know how into Andy Kaufman anybody was.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 4: But, I mean, did anybody, like, really get into his comedy? I.
- 8:43Speaker 11: Liked him, kind of, but depending on what comedy it was.
- 8:47Speaker 11: I never got the Mighty Mouse singing thing.
- 8:50Speaker 4: That was most of his comedy, though, really. I didn't
- 8:52Speaker 4: get that.
- 8:52Speaker 11: I thought the wrestling gig stuff was hilarious. But, yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 11: I don't know. He always did voices, and that's funny.
- 9:00Speaker 11: Just people doing voices is always funny.
- 9:03Speaker 10: Everything, as you watch his comedy, whether or not it's
- 9:07Speaker 10: comedy is questionable.
- 9:09Speaker 4: It's almost performance art on many levels.
- 9:12Speaker 10: It's another one of those that's kind of like, It
- 9:14Speaker 10: only is comedy if it hits you just right and
- 9:16Speaker 10: you think it's, you know, oh, this is great.
- 9:18Speaker 4: But there's a lot of people that just... And I'm sure,
- 9:21Speaker 4: you know, he's.
- 9:22Speaker 10: In New York doing all this stand-up for years and
- 9:24Speaker 10: people were probably just sitting there like, what the hell
- 9:26Speaker 10: am I watching?
- 9:27Speaker 9: Thank God there were a lot of drugs in New York.
- 9:30Speaker 8: Yes.
- 9:30Speaker 4: That's true.
- 9:31Speaker 6: It's definitely.
- 9:32Speaker 4: 70s New York, so that's probably, yeah. Well, the casting,
- 9:34Speaker 4: it's like.
- 9:35Speaker 11: We have a movie about robots that learn how to
- 9:38Speaker 11: feel and, you know, have adventures, whatever. Who are we
- 9:41Speaker 11: going to cast for the lead? Andy Kaufman, obviously, of course. Like,
- 9:46Speaker 11: how bizarre casting is that?
- 9:49Speaker 14: This movie was surprising because, I mean, I've actually got, like,
- 9:54Speaker 14: the list in front of me right here.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's amazing the people that are in it. Andy Kaufman,
- 9:58Speaker 4: Bernadette Peters, Randy Quaid. Yeah, Randy Quaid was young as hell.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Christopher Guest. Christopher Guest.
- 10:04Speaker 10: For like two seconds. You don't even notice. Yeah, because
- 10:06Speaker 10: he's kind of weird looking.
- 10:08Speaker 4: And then Mary Warnoff and Paul Bartel. Paul Bartel.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Who actually jumped over from the... Well, from every movie.
- 10:19Speaker 5: I mean, they are, like, they have, it's like a
- 10:22Speaker 5: running joke in, like, all of these. There was this
- 10:24Speaker 5: whole circle of people making movies at this time, a
- 10:27Speaker 5: lot of.
- 10:27Speaker 10: Them for Roger Corman and with Paul Bartel, and they
- 10:30Speaker 10: turn up as sort of these same characters in, like,
- 10:33Speaker 10: movie after movie.
- 10:34Speaker 4: And even if it's not these characters, they always sort
- 10:36Speaker 4: of pair them together or.
- 10:37Speaker 10: They always stick them in these movies together, and it
- 10:39Speaker 10: was just sort of this running gag.
- 10:41Speaker 4: They had with all of these. That's what it felt like.
- 10:44Speaker 4: It felt like a Roger Corman movie.
- 10:47Speaker 10: It probably should. I was looking through here. Alan Arkish,
- 10:52Speaker 10: the director, directed Rock and Roll High School. He's obviously
- 10:57Speaker 10: very affiliated in their little circle there. It's kind of
- 11:02Speaker 10: weird that he started off doing that kind of stuff.
- 11:05Speaker 10: He does Hollywood Boulevard and Death Sports. He's doing these
- 11:10Speaker 10: very drive-in theater, you know, Roger Corman kind of movies.
- 11:15Speaker 10: But then as you go on, I mean, he's still
- 11:17Speaker 10: working now. He's doing episodes of Heroes. up until they
- 11:20Speaker 10: got canceled but you know oh yeah it's gone now
- 11:24Speaker 10: they finally gave up on it like america did three years.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Ago yeah after the first season.
- 11:29Speaker 10: So but yeah i mean he's still working now and
- 11:33Speaker 10: it's funny he switched into like a ton of tv
- 11:35Speaker 10: he did a lot of just regular tv episodes of
- 11:38Speaker 10: you know real you know ali mcbeal and like normal
- 11:42Speaker 10: shows but it's so bizarre yeah to imagine it was.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It's not an old show.
- 11:46Speaker 10: He's doing an episode of Dawson's Creek after Rock and
- 11:49Speaker 10: Roll High School and then this movie.
- 11:53Speaker 4: It's a weird transition over the years.
- 11:55Speaker 8: That's an eclectic mix.
- 11:57Speaker 4: That is very eclectic.
- 11:59Speaker 11: I wish that in this one, of course, a lot
- 12:01Speaker 11: of movies turn into this where I just wish there
- 12:03Speaker 11: was more.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Always hear me say it.
- 12:05Speaker 11: I wish there was more because there's a good story
- 12:08Speaker 11: in here, but as it goes along, and I'm not
- 12:11Speaker 11: really bagging on the movie because I liked it, but
- 12:13Speaker 11: just as far as it's kind of like it moves quick.
- 12:16Speaker 4: It touches on things, and it doesn't really expound upon them.
- 12:19Speaker 4: It moves on. It's really short, too. Yeah, and it's
- 12:21Speaker 4: really short. It's like an hour and 20 minutes. The
- 12:24Speaker 4: movie ends with a freaking combat robot, whatever. What is it?
- 12:30Speaker 4: Crime Buster Deluxe.
- 12:31Speaker 11: Crime Buster Deluxe rolling off into the night, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 11: blowing stuff up, looking for the perpetrators.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Being a badass.
- 12:37Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 4: And how they can. Still narrating. Yeah, still narrating.
- 12:40Speaker 15: Exactly.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Because he's awesome. And it's kind of like, okay.
- 12:43Speaker 10: It almost.
- 12:43Speaker 4: They thought they. Those are the memories. Yeah, they thought
- 12:46Speaker 4: they erased it twice, but I just... I played dumb.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I played dumb. Like, you know, that's cool for any
- 12:51Speaker 4: robot to say. I mean, come on. Oh, well, that's
- 12:54Speaker 4: the bookends of the movie.
- 12:55Speaker 10: We start off with him rolling out, blowing shit up,
- 12:57Speaker 10: and we leave with him blowing shit up.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Exactly. Because Prime Buster's awesome. God bless America.
- 13:03Speaker 9: My kind of movie.
- 13:03Speaker 10: You know, I just wish that there was more to, like,
- 13:06Speaker 10: you know, kind of flesh it out so it didn't
- 13:08Speaker 10: seem so quick to quick to quick the end. It's
- 13:12Speaker 10: funny looking at just the basic... Story of what's going on.
- 13:15Speaker 10: I could almost see, and it's weird now that they've
- 13:18Speaker 10: made a movie that sort of falls into this category,
- 13:21Speaker 10: but I almost see this as, if I didn't know
- 13:23Speaker 10: this movie existed, as being like an animated kids movie.
- 13:26Speaker 10: I could almost see this very much being something that
- 13:30Speaker 10: Disney would have taken on before. While he touches on
- 13:35Speaker 10: all of these same ideas, it just does it in
- 13:38Speaker 10: a much more mature and better way.
- 13:40Speaker 9: I think all robot movies kind of have the same themes.
- 13:44Speaker 11: I like how this one touched on parenting. Because they
- 13:48Speaker 11: were talking about parenting. Which, that's cool. And really no
- 13:53Speaker 11: other robot movie has kind of touched on that. It's
- 13:55Speaker 11: always been about love and.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Of course.
- 13:58Speaker 4: robots falling in love is awesome because it makes no sense.
- 14:02Speaker 11: But I love that. I love that as a theme.
- 14:05Speaker 11: But I thought that the parenting thing was really cool.
- 14:07Speaker 16: There's so much information I want you to have. So
- 14:11Speaker 16: many new parts that I do not possess. You know,
- 14:17Speaker 16: you're the first robot I ever built and programmed. And
- 14:21Speaker 16: I want you to know that in spite of problems,
- 14:23Speaker 16: you have been performing very well. You are extremely efficient.
- 14:29Speaker 11: The parenting thing was like really cool because they build
- 14:33Speaker 11: baby robot.
- 14:36Speaker 9: Philco.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Philco. Phil, for short. And Phil was awesome. Phil was
- 14:40Speaker 4: fucking awesome. Phil is pretty awesome.
- 14:42Speaker 11: Yeah, I love his eyes and how he laughs at
- 14:44Speaker 11: joke box jokes or whatever.
- 14:46Speaker 4: His laugh is awesome. It is awesome.
- 14:49Speaker 8: The mannequin with the eyes.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Yeah, he gets scared. You know, he's acting like a kid,
- 14:54Speaker 4: which is awesome.
- 14:54Speaker 11: And they're like, oh, should we upgrade him so that
- 14:56Speaker 11: he has better self-preservation? And so that he can, like,
- 15:00Speaker 11: kind of grow on his own.
- 15:01Speaker 4: You know, that stuff is cool. And, you know, we
- 15:03Speaker 4: want to send him off to have something important to
- 15:05Speaker 4: do in life.
- 15:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 4: And not have a life of servitude.
- 15:08Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 4: You want something better for your children. Or not be
- 15:10Speaker 4: a pot-smoking robot burnout. Like, you know. I missed that scene. But, yeah,
- 15:15Speaker 4: what parent doesn't say that? Yeah, exactly.
- 15:19Speaker 10: Oh but yeah i think vilco is really good they
- 15:21Speaker 10: do a good job with him at like because i
- 15:24Speaker 10: mean he's the most basic of them but to me
- 15:27Speaker 10: they do almost a better job with him with like
- 15:30Speaker 10: making you feel yeah with his emotions and what he's
- 15:33Speaker 10: doing and what he's thinking and i think they do
- 15:35Speaker 10: a good job sort of mimicking you know the human
- 15:38Speaker 10: behavior that that's I don't know.
- 15:40Speaker 4: It was almost lacking in the other robots, really.
- 15:42Speaker 8: The animatronics for him were really good.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely. Especially for 81. Yeah, because this was way
- 15:48Speaker 4: before Short Circuit.
- 15:49Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 4: This was like four years? So it came out in 86?
- 15:54Speaker 13: 85, 86, yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 4: So it was still.
- 15:57Speaker 10: But it definitely, I mean, he's got that Johnny Five
- 15:59Speaker 10: look before Johnny Five.
- 16:00Speaker 4: He had a Swiss arm arm.
- 16:02Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Like, that was awesome. They even made a little cross
- 16:05Speaker 4: for the Swiss Army arm. It was great. That does
- 16:08Speaker 4: kick ass. And then he had a shammy hand, which
- 16:09Speaker 4: is awesome. Who doesn't need a shammy hand? He could
- 16:16Speaker 4: be one of those robots that's like, wash windows. So
- 16:19Speaker 4: that could be his function. Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 9: I mean, why do you need a function if you
- 16:25Speaker 9: have a fucking Swiss Army knife for an arm?
- 16:28Speaker 4: Swiss Army arm?
- 16:29Speaker 9: Yeah, Swiss Army arm. That's your function.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Sounds good to me.
- 16:32Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Oh, Lord.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I think.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Boy Scout body. Which one? Boy Scout body. Boy Scout body.
- 16:39Speaker 4: He was a Eagle Scout.
- 16:40Speaker 8: He had the hat and everything. Yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 10: And him throwing a tantrum for what he wanted. The
- 16:45Speaker 10: parents are like, he doesn't need that. Why should we
- 16:48Speaker 10: give him something he doesn't need? That doesn't make sense. Meanwhile,
- 16:53Speaker 10: he's like flipping out and flames are shooting out of
- 16:55Speaker 10: his head.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Because he wants it, he wants it, he wants it.
- 16:58Speaker 4: And he gets it because laughing bot or whatever. Well,
- 17:02Speaker 4: that's what I think is kind of cool that they do.
- 17:04Speaker 10: Because it would be really easy to just do the
- 17:06Speaker 10: robots in love and do the little two robot thing.
- 17:09Speaker 10: And even when they enter into the parenting, that's an
- 17:11Speaker 10: interesting little thing that they throw in the mix. But
- 17:14Speaker 10: adding the other robot who becomes like the grandpa.
- 17:17Speaker 4: The grandfather, yeah. I was thinking cool uncle.
- 17:19Speaker 10: Oh, yeah. well I was thinking the grandpa because he's
- 17:21Speaker 10: just like he's in the he's in the store he's
- 17:23Speaker 10: throwing a fit he wants the toy he wants you
- 17:25Speaker 10: know whatever and their parents are like no you don't
- 17:27Speaker 10: need that quit asking for things you don't need and
- 17:29Speaker 10: as they're talking about it and who gives it to
- 17:31Speaker 10: him grandpa spoils him and gives it to him so
- 17:33Speaker 10: it's it definitely had that and as they go on
- 17:36Speaker 10: it's like he doesn't walk so he's kind of in
- 17:37Speaker 10: a wheelchair type yeah he kind of he's the old
- 17:39Speaker 10: guy you know he does seem like the weathered old
- 17:42Speaker 10: comedian that he's supposed to be.
- 17:43Speaker 4: But um the drunk uncle too yeah that too.
- 17:45Speaker 10: You know a little bit of that but yeah it
- 17:48Speaker 10: depends on what kind of family it is But, yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 10: they do spend a lot of time with those two
- 17:52Speaker 10: and have the two of them sort of developing this relationship.
- 17:55Speaker 10: And then they do have, like, all this time of him,
- 17:58Speaker 10: you know, getting close to him. And it sort of
- 18:01Speaker 10: pays off in the end.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:03Speaker 10: One thing I think this movie is missing was they
- 18:05Speaker 10: didn't say the title of the movie.
- 18:07Speaker 4: In the movie.
- 18:08Speaker 10: No.
- 18:08Speaker 4: We hear beeping.
- 18:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 4: The heart beeps. But never were they, like... What is that?
- 18:14Speaker 4: I don't know. It sounds maybe like my heartbeat. That
- 18:17Speaker 4: is my heartbeats for you, my dear.
- 18:19Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Yeah. You're crazy. You're some kind of lethal weapon. That's awesome.
- 18:23Speaker 4: How are we supposed to scream when we hear the
- 18:25Speaker 4: name and cheer? Yeah, just say the fucking name. We
- 18:29Speaker 4: said it. I always think that's fun in movies. I do, too.
- 18:33Speaker 4: It's my favorite part of any movie.
- 18:34Speaker 10: Except you're in trouble when the name of the movie is, like,
- 18:37Speaker 10: the name of the main character, because then you're screaming
- 18:39Speaker 10: every 15 seconds.
- 18:40Speaker 4: You're like, when does that happen?
- 18:41Speaker 9: Like Braveheart?
- 18:42Speaker 4: But he never says Braveheart. Austin Powers. Unless it was
- 18:45Speaker 4: Austin Powers.
- 18:47Speaker 7: Hancock.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Hancock, yeah.
- 18:49Speaker 9: Oh.
- 18:50Speaker 10: What about uh i was thinking octopus that's just because
- 18:53Speaker 10: we like to make those references yeah exactly.
- 18:55Speaker 11: It never was a bond girl the focus of the
- 18:58Speaker 11: name of a bond movie like the next bond adventure
- 19:01Speaker 11: come on you know that would come out awesome but
- 19:05Speaker 11: uh goonies is one of my favorite too which is
- 19:07Speaker 11: on today or whatever it's like we're.
- 19:09Speaker 17: Goonies it's like yes you are that's the name of
- 19:12Speaker 17: the movie you must be because it's the name of
- 19:17Speaker 17: this movie if you weren't there'd be.
- 19:20Speaker 18: A huge plot hole i always just think that's confused
- 19:23Speaker 18: yeah the that's the thing this this movie sort of
- 19:27Speaker 18: came out and sort of flew under the radar like
- 19:30Speaker 18: i don't remember it being a big deal but aside
- 19:33Speaker 18: from i mean the main two actors are sort of
- 19:35Speaker 18: you know names at the time but they weren't like
- 19:38Speaker 18: super celebrities but Let's talk about the rest of the
- 19:40Speaker 18: people involved in this movie.
- 19:42Speaker 10: The music's done by John Williams. That's huge, even at
- 19:46Speaker 10: the time. I mean, he was the biggest name in composing.
- 19:50Speaker 10: as he still pretty much is so i mean they
- 19:51Speaker 10: had him involved you've got stan winston doing the makeup.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Effects which were good which makeup effects were awesome.
- 19:57Speaker 10: I mean yeah these are like you know a-list people
- 20:00Speaker 10: they're rolling in to do this what is essentially whatever
- 20:03Speaker 10: does a cheap b movie i mean it's and not
- 20:06Speaker 10: really a huge budget otherwise i mean to look at
- 20:09Speaker 10: it it's not spectacular i mean.
- 20:11Speaker 4: It's it's on dvd like it is on.
- 20:13Speaker 10: Dvd but just recently i think it's been i think
- 20:16Speaker 10: it had been out of print for a long time
- 20:17Speaker 10: yeah i mean no one cared because nobody cared i
- 20:20Speaker 10: mean it was not like it was a huge hit
- 20:22Speaker 10: but it was one of those that like kids latched
- 20:24Speaker 10: on to because even this week like throwing it out
- 20:26Speaker 10: there i had a lot of people that were just
- 20:27Speaker 10: like oh yeah i remember that and like really it
- 20:30Speaker 10: locked itself into a lot of people's brains and they
- 20:33Speaker 10: were just like.
- 20:34Speaker 4: What the hell was going on with them?
- 20:36Speaker 11: I think I remember seeing it with my folks in
- 20:38Speaker 11: the theater when I was a young one.
- 20:41Speaker 4: But definitely after that, it was gone.
- 20:44Speaker 10: I don't remember it coming out really on VHS. I
- 20:48Speaker 10: don't really remember seeing it ever again since until tonight.
- 20:51Speaker 4: I remember originally it was on VHS.
- 20:53Speaker 10: I think I saw it on cable, as I saw
- 20:55Speaker 10: a million things I didn't need to be seeing as
- 20:57Speaker 10: I grew up.
- 20:57Speaker 4: But this one was one that was.
- 20:59Speaker 10: Just on all the time, and I think I remember
- 21:01Speaker 10: watching it repeatedly as a kid, and it did kind
- 21:03Speaker 10: of stick in there. But, yeah, it's weird how much,
- 21:07Speaker 10: I mean, they had... Then you get into the other
- 21:08Speaker 10: weird people involved that don't even make sense.
- 21:11Speaker 4: You've got, um... Okay, you've got.
- 21:13Speaker 10: Doing the jokes, it's not even like they got him
- 21:16Speaker 10: to do the voice. They bought the material of Henny Youngman, which.
- 21:20Speaker 4: Henny Youngman. Oh, he didn't do the voice? No, he
- 21:22Speaker 4: didn't do the voice.
- 21:22Speaker 10: The voice is somebody entirely different, but they bought just
- 21:25Speaker 10: all the material. It's joke material, which were the low-level jokes.
- 21:29Speaker 4: The level one jokes. He saved power to tell low.
- 21:32Speaker 10: The low-grade quality of jokes, which most of them were
- 21:35Speaker 10: very low-grade.
- 21:36Speaker 8: Oh, God.
- 21:37Speaker 9: They weren't even, like... I just flew in from L.A.
- 21:40Speaker 9: and boy are my arms tired quality.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they were bad. There were one or two good
- 21:44Speaker 4: ones in there. I'll give you that. Let me giggle.
- 21:47Speaker 4: The knock-knock one was good.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Well, good evening, ladies and germs. It's certainly good to
- 21:52Speaker 1: be back here in the mountains. My agent always said
- 21:55Speaker 1: my act belongs outdoors. Speaking of animals, I saw a
- 21:58Speaker 1: Volkswagen drive by with a giraffe sticking out of the window.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Cop says, watch with the giraffe. Guy says, I'm taking
- 22:04Speaker 1: him to the zoo. Next day, guy drives by again
- 22:07Speaker 1: with the giraffe. Cops will say, I thought you took
- 22:10Speaker 1: him to the zoo. Guy says, yeah, he liked it
- 22:12Speaker 1: so much, now I'm taking him to Disneyland. Thank you,
- 22:17Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen. You've been a hell of an audience.
- 22:20Speaker 1: If you liked the act, my name is Caskill. If
- 22:22Speaker 1: you didn't, I'm Milton Boyle. Applause, applause.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Yeah, knock-knock one.
- 22:26Speaker 8: Which was the knock-knock one, wasn't it? Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 22:29Speaker 9: I don't even remember how that went.
- 22:32Speaker 4: He sang a song to him, basically.
- 22:34Speaker 10: Once again, they're bonding, and he actually, you know, like
- 22:37Speaker 10: a family. He's, like, growing attached to him. So it's
- 22:40Speaker 10: weird that this is all going on with robots. I
- 22:42Speaker 10: wish that they'd played that up more, actually. Like, I
- 22:45Speaker 10: almost expected... At least 45 minutes longer.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely. Like, I could see the.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Robo 9000. Which one? The cop? The cop. Why can
- 22:55Speaker 4: I not remember his name? Crime Buster Deluxe. Crime Buster Deluxe.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I need to write this down. No, I think I'm fine.
- 23:01Speaker 20: Not.
- 23:01Speaker 11: But I think Crime Buster Deluxe, I was almost ready
- 23:05Speaker 11: to see him decimate one of them. And then maybe
- 23:08Speaker 11: they could go on a pillage to rebuild them or whatever.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Like hit them back. and you know all the.
- 23:14Speaker 10: Well i mean there's very there's very little story anyway
- 23:18Speaker 10: i mean it's just that's why it reminded me kind
- 23:20Speaker 10: of almost of like a disney movie from back in
- 23:22Speaker 10: the day because it's like they're usually pretty basic stories
- 23:25Speaker 10: and you just follow that one train of thought and
- 23:27Speaker 10: they don't you know veer off and that's all this
- 23:28Speaker 10: is it's like hey let's go gather data over there
- 23:32Speaker 10: yeah and they go over there and then eventually the
- 23:34Speaker 10: story wraps up and they come back so.
- 23:37Speaker 9: That was one thing i meant to bring up like
- 23:39Speaker 9: what Maybe I'm like zoned out, but what caused them
- 23:43Speaker 9: to decide to go gather data in the forest?
- 23:46Speaker 11: Basically, the sunset or whatever was kind of like, it's beautiful.
- 23:51Speaker 4: And then a storm happens and they hold hands. And
- 23:54Speaker 4: then they like back off.
- 23:56Speaker 11: And then the next day, Andy Kaufman robot is like,
- 23:59Speaker 11: I've been studying the trees, and I want to learn more.
- 24:02Speaker 4: So you want to go over there with me? And
- 24:04Speaker 4: she's like, yep. And they're like, Jokebot, you want to
- 24:07Speaker 4: go over there with us? And he's like, yuck-a-yuck-a. And
- 24:09Speaker 4: they're like, I guess that's a yes. So they all go.
- 24:11Speaker 8: I like the mild sexual innuendos between the two robots.
- 24:15Speaker 4: I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah, well, never.
- 24:18Speaker 8: The information. I can't remember what exactly she said.
- 24:21Speaker 9: My pleasures.
- 24:22Speaker 4: The pleasure. What was it?
- 24:23Speaker 9: Sensor is overloading now.
- 24:25Speaker 8: Yeah, something like this. I think that was in reference
- 24:27Speaker 8: to the junkyard.
- 24:28Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 11: They were really excited by the junkyard. They were getting
- 24:33Speaker 11: close to each other. Yeah, that's when the row boner
- 24:35Speaker 11: come in. When their heart bleeps, beeps, start going faster
- 24:41Speaker 11: and faster, like when they get closer to each other
- 24:43Speaker 11: or whatever.
- 24:43Speaker 9: I need to get that exact quote down so I
- 24:45Speaker 9: can use it in my daily life.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Which one?
- 24:48Speaker 9: Something about pleasure center overload.
- 24:50Speaker 8: My pleasure center is getting excited. Or something like that.
- 24:53Speaker 4: It has strange impulses. Yes. Strong feelings.
- 24:57Speaker 10: Incredible impulses are being sent to my pleasure center, which
- 25:00Speaker 10: is being overloaded with data. I mean... sure use that
- 25:05Speaker 10: see how it goes yeah he'll be gone by the
- 25:08Speaker 10: time you finish it but wait i'm still throwing out
- 25:10Speaker 10: my line hold on at least let me finish yeah
- 25:14Speaker 10: i don't have a hard.
- 25:16Speaker 9: Enough time making friends i'm gonna throw out really ridiculously obscure.
- 25:20Speaker 10: Obscure lines from obscure movies that nobody cares about See,
- 25:25Speaker 10: that's the thing.
- 25:25Speaker 4: You'll find the one other person that's like... Oh, but
- 25:27Speaker 4: he will not be the one. Dude, heartbeats?
- 25:29Speaker 10: Yeah!
- 25:30Speaker 4: Go ahead. I have full-size mannequins of all of them
- 25:33Speaker 4: in my house. I eat dinner with them every night.
- 25:35Speaker 4: You want to come over? And then all of a
- 25:36Speaker 4: sudden it's... I think that's my phone. Does it smell
- 25:42Speaker 4: like chlorophyll? Yeah. I use that one a lot. That's awesome.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Oh wait, that's not a pickup line, is it? That's
- 25:50Speaker 4: a take-home line.
- 25:51Speaker 8: That's a take-home line.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Whatever works.
- 25:54Speaker 9: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 25:58Speaker 4: That's uncalled for. So, yeah, I don't know.
- 26:02Speaker 10: And the weirdest addition to this lineup of people involved
- 26:06Speaker 10: is the voice.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Of the baby robot. Did you see who that was?
- 26:10Speaker 8: No, I didn't.
- 26:11Speaker 10: Which, first of all, I don't even remember a voice
- 26:13Speaker 10: being involved. It was a lot of beeping and noises.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I didn't see, but tell me that it's not....
- 26:18Speaker 10: What megatron's voice no then they jerry garcia yeah they
- 26:23Speaker 10: credited jerry garcia and.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Really it was what and bleed yeah i.
- 26:28Speaker 10: Was like did he actually do something or did you
- 26:31Speaker 10: guys just like.
- 26:31Speaker 9: That jerry garcia because that could be a common name maybe.
- 26:36Speaker 4: No it is it's credited as yeah Of the Grateful Dead.
- 26:40Speaker 4: That's weird. And I was just like, whoa. That was hard.
- 26:42Speaker 8: How stoned do you think he was?
- 26:44Speaker 9: Yeah, really.
- 26:45Speaker 4: He's like, boot beat, man. You know. At the end,
- 26:48Speaker 4: he was like, dude, I think I see robots. And
- 26:50Speaker 4: we were like, no, really. There's robots in here. It's okay, Jerry.
- 26:53Speaker 8: Him and Andy Kaufman are in the back.
- 26:55Speaker 10: Oh, God.
- 26:55Speaker 8: And he's in full robot-like garb.
- 26:58Speaker 4: And he never eats drugs.
- 27:00Speaker 8: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Freaking Jerry Garcia out. Dude, lay off. Awesome.
- 27:07Speaker 10: Stop it.
- 27:07Speaker 4: That's weird. What are you saying about Megatron? Oh, because, God,
- 27:13Speaker 4: what's his name? Crime Buster Deluxe? No, no, no. I
- 27:17Speaker 4: used to know the voice of Megatron. He voiced Megatron.
- 27:22Speaker 10: Megatron and then Unico from Dungeons and Dragons. Really, you're
- 27:28Speaker 10: going to go from the baddest voice ever.
- 27:29Speaker 11: To non-slavic, shitty unicorn baby?
- 27:33Speaker 10: I was trying to figure out which. Oh, and we
- 27:38Speaker 10: have Dick Miller, of course.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Who's that? Dick Miller's in every movie. Who is he?
- 27:43Speaker 4: The watchman that was sitting there playing cards with him.
- 27:46Speaker 11: Oh yeah yeah i mean the snowplow driver in gremlins
- 27:51Speaker 11: yeah okay yeah kentucky everybody knows yeah it's.
- 27:55Speaker 10: A kentucky harvester so yeah he's i mean that again
- 27:59Speaker 10: is another one of those running jokes that just his
- 28:02Speaker 10: character being in there is the joke it's just like
- 28:05Speaker 10: he and again i think they even call him and
- 28:07Speaker 10: he's not credited as it but i think they call
- 28:08Speaker 10: him by that same name Then he is in every movie.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Like, he plays the same guy, more or less. That's
- 28:14Speaker 4: pretty cool.
- 28:14Speaker 10: So, yeah, it's funny that this is part of that
- 28:16Speaker 10: little circle of movies that just continually throw these people in. See,
- 28:20Speaker 10: inside jokes to the normal people, like, you know, stuff
- 28:23Speaker 10: with people that you know.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Hey, hey, remember that? But in Hollywood, it's like you're a.
- 28:28Speaker 11: inside joke character in a movie that's been in other movies.
- 28:32Speaker 10: I guess that's an awesome paycheck, right? From the inside
- 28:35Speaker 10: joke character. I mean, it's just awesome like the Paul
- 28:38Speaker 10: Bartel one. I mean, he's awesome in and of himself.
- 28:40Speaker 10: He is like a director that did... amazing cool like
- 28:44Speaker 10: you know he's the one that did um lust in
- 28:47Speaker 10: the dust he's the one that did uh my favorite
- 28:49Speaker 10: movie ever death race 2000 so it's like i need
- 28:52Speaker 10: to like keep tracking down everything that he did because
- 28:55Speaker 10: but it's just funny that he just randomly like walks
- 28:57Speaker 10: through a scene here and that's you know that's that's
- 28:59Speaker 10: the diane that's the joke So, yeah, it's the weirdest
- 29:03Speaker 10: conglomeration of people in a movie.
- 29:06Speaker 4: It really didn't make a mark anywhere.
- 29:08Speaker 7: No.
- 29:08Speaker 4: No, I mean, really, it just comes down to... It
- 29:10Speaker 4: wasn't even a beep on the radar. Ah, burn. Drink
- 29:15Speaker 4: more beer. Burn it now. So.
- 29:19Speaker 10: I mean, really, it just comes down to almost those
- 29:21Speaker 10: main two performances. I mean, that becomes, you know, a
- 29:24Speaker 10: good portion of the movie, which, I don't know. What
- 29:27Speaker 10: are your thoughts on the two actors?
- 29:29Speaker 9: I really feel like Bernadette Peters needed to be in
- 29:32Speaker 9: more movies because I loved her so much.
- 29:34Speaker 4: She was so adorable. Her voice is awesome.
- 29:37Speaker 9: Like, the most adorable person on the face of the earth.
- 29:40Speaker 12: Ever.
- 29:40Speaker 4: The Jerk is a phenomenal movie.
- 29:42Speaker 10: Especially to be a comedy because comedies usually aren't that
- 29:45Speaker 10: great and get no respect.
- 29:46Speaker 4: So that one is amazing especially for its time.
- 29:49Speaker 9: I just like her.
- 29:51Speaker 8: She was in a made for TV Fox movie I think.
- 29:54Speaker 8: She was in a Tom Cruise. I can't remember which
- 29:58Speaker 8: one it was. It was maybe Odysseus.
- 30:01Speaker 10: Probably. I mean, now she's huge on Broadway now. Like,
- 30:05Speaker 10: she's one of the biggest names on Broadway.
- 30:07Speaker 11: Because she's got that voice, like, singing voice. I know
- 30:09Speaker 11: she sings, like, really well.
- 30:11Speaker 4: And the coolest fact of all, she was on The Animaniacs.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Was she? Yeah, she was Rita. Yeah. That's right.
- 30:18Speaker 8: I really wanted her to play Mrs. Lovett.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:21Speaker 8: Sweeney Todd.
- 30:22Speaker 4: That would have been awesome.
- 30:23Speaker 10: She would have been perfect. Mostly because nobody wants to
- 30:27Speaker 10: see Hello, Mama. I used to love her back.
- 30:29Speaker 4: In the day like Lady Jane, but now she's just...
- 30:32Speaker 4: It's overplayed at this point. Leave her out. She's the
- 30:34Speaker 4: same person.
- 30:35Speaker 10: I know.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Yeah. And her forehead is massive. Well, that too.
- 30:41Speaker 8: I think they need a song and dance.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Number?
- 30:44Speaker 10: Really? Yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 8: I think it's got to have a Disney movie feel.
- 30:47Speaker 8: If there's just been a little song. I agree.
- 30:49Speaker 9: I'm all for movies with songs.
- 30:52Speaker 4: I could have seen it be a musical. They had
- 30:54Speaker 4: a musical interlude. We got the girl from Emojima.
- 30:58Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 30:59Speaker 10: As Crimebot Deluxe Buster 2000, whatever his name is. As
- 31:04Speaker 10: he's busting them, he gives.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Them some nice elevator music. Wait for the police to
- 31:09Speaker 4: show up.
- 31:10Speaker 21: Bye.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Please enjoy some musical whatever. He's not a... Yeah, they
- 31:14Speaker 4: were a shrub.
- 31:16Speaker 8: He's a shrub.
- 31:16Speaker 10: He's a shrub.
- 31:17Speaker 9: That was cute.
- 31:18Speaker 4: I mean, it's sad how much, how simple, yeah, this
- 31:21Speaker 4: stuff is.
- 31:22Speaker 10: I mean, it is like so like basic dorky level humor,
- 31:26Speaker 10: but at the same time, it kind of works.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Like there's moments you're like, oh, that was funny. He's
- 31:31Speaker 4: a tree. I get it.
- 31:32Speaker 10: You know, I mean. It's not the most sophisticated humor,
- 31:35Speaker 10: but then it sort of works.
- 31:37Speaker 8: On a level?
- 31:38Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 31:39Speaker 11: But yeah, that's definitely, like you say, it's like seeing
- 31:42Speaker 11: a four children's type movie.
- 31:45Speaker 4: It totally kind of does.
- 31:47Speaker 11: But I think that their performances were good, but I
- 31:51Speaker 11: think we could have gotten more out of them if
- 31:53Speaker 11: it was longer.
- 31:54Speaker 4: If there was more meat to the substance.
- 31:56Speaker 10: I definitely think they and cast characters could have been
- 31:59Speaker 10: fleshed out better.
- 32:00Speaker 4: And they could have just had more to do. They
- 32:03Speaker 4: were walking. That's the entire movie. It's like the two towers.
- 32:08Speaker 4: But anyway.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Bam!
- 32:09Speaker 4: Nice, nice. Aside from the whatever Robobot.
- 32:12Speaker 9: Crime Buster Deluxe 9000. I mean, they didn't really have
- 32:21Speaker 9: too much conflict because, I mean, people were looking for
- 32:24Speaker 9: them and they sort of made that a conflict.
- 32:25Speaker 4: But it was Randy Quaid. But it was like, we're
- 32:27Speaker 4: in a helicopter. They were looking for them to hurt them.
- 32:31Speaker 9: They were just going to take them back. And at
- 32:32Speaker 9: the end, they went back to their home anyway.
- 32:34Speaker 10: And this is where we learn nothing from the Wraith.
- 32:36Speaker 10: It's that Randy Quaid can't find a damn thing. He's
- 32:39Speaker 10: the worst at looking for anybody.
- 32:42Speaker 11: But you could tell this was before the whole Jerry
- 32:44Speaker 11: Bruckheimer got into it because in the early 90s, They
- 32:48Speaker 11: would have sent out task force to track these things
- 32:51Speaker 11: down or whatever. The Crime Buster 9 million would have
- 32:54Speaker 11: had Gatling guns and would have like decimated the landscape.
- 32:58Speaker 8: Angry black man in charge.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Probably.
- 33:00Speaker 8: Yes.
- 33:01Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 4: So it's kind of funny because it's also a sign
- 33:03Speaker 4: of the times. Like this is a.
- 33:06Speaker 11: Kind of antiseptic type movie. I mean, it's so simple.
- 33:10Speaker 11: It's so simple that I can almost see it being G-rated.
- 33:14Speaker 11: I mean, did they say, like... They throw in, like...
- 33:17Speaker 11: They have.
- 33:17Speaker 4: The sexual innuendo, I guess. Even that.
- 33:21Speaker 10: Even that's pretty subtle. In his quote of the guy
- 33:25Speaker 10: yelling at him at the beginning, he says, ass. Maybe
- 33:28Speaker 10: that's a PG right there.
- 33:29Speaker 4: I don't know. I think they say that in, like,
- 33:31Speaker 4: Dora the Explorer.
- 33:32Speaker 10: Shrek's probably PG. But, I mean, it doesn't surprise me.
- 33:35Speaker 10: I mean, it is very... I mean, it's something you
- 33:38Speaker 10: could show to anybody. But, again, at the same time,
- 33:40Speaker 10: it has that weird effect.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Like, I remember, you.
- 33:43Speaker 11: Know, like I said, as a kid, like, it really
- 33:45Speaker 11: made me sad when they were... When the joke bought 9,000
- 33:49Speaker 11: or whatever. I don't know why they're all 9,000. But
- 33:51Speaker 11: after when he exchanged his power source for... that was
- 33:55Speaker 11: sweet yeah like i thought that was like awesome when
- 33:58Speaker 11: i was a kid like but no because he's gonna
- 34:00Speaker 11: die after you do that like i still oh my
- 34:02Speaker 11: god i can mess with me.
- 34:04Speaker 10: Actually now i think it was more impressive like i
- 34:06Speaker 10: was watching it going this is like i mean again
- 34:09Speaker 10: for me well yeah for a silly movie like i
- 34:12Speaker 10: started to get sad when it looked like they were
- 34:14Speaker 10: just gonna leave him out there yeah seriously he's just
- 34:17Speaker 10: gonna sit there and rust.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Yeah he's gonna wander around the wilderness but then.
- 34:20Speaker 14: Like two seconds later randy quaid and his buddy show
- 34:23Speaker 14: up and they're like oh just load him up.
- 34:25Speaker 10: Yeah but yeah it does have that like the heavier.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Themes of like he's you know sacrificing.
- 34:31Speaker 10: Himself for the one that he loves like that's that's
- 34:34Speaker 10: huge you know that's to be thrown in this weird,
- 34:37Speaker 10: simple little movie about robots. Yeah, for robots to do that,
- 34:40Speaker 10: who don't and shouldn't be able to feel, that's a
- 34:43Speaker 10: cool theme, and that's something cool going down right there.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Yeah. It was awesome.
- 34:49Speaker 9: I kind of feel like children's movies need to have
- 34:52Speaker 9: quasi-adult themes anyway.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 34:55Speaker 10: They need to be confronted with heavy stuff like that.
- 34:59Speaker 10: Everything is so soft and non-threatening nowadays.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Back to Iron Giant. Right. Iron Giant's awesome.
- 35:07Speaker 9: Movies about robots, if you have children, way of life.
- 35:10Speaker 10: Definitely.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Life lessons. Robots. Robots. Robots. It's a whole different thing.
- 35:21Speaker 9: I just don't feel like I don't feel like kids
- 35:24Speaker 9: learn anything from Barney and things like that.
- 35:26Speaker 8: Lessons about friendship.
- 35:27Speaker 9: Who gives a fuck about that?
- 35:28Speaker 4: Everybody knows about friendship. Everyone has friends. Those are things
- 35:31Speaker 4: you're supposed.
- 35:31Speaker 8: To learn on your own.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 35:33Speaker 10: Well, I mean, it works for the first couple of years.
- 35:36Speaker 10: But once they hit a point, I mean, you need
- 35:38Speaker 10: to start.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Throwing a little reality at them.
- 35:41Speaker 9: I think it works when kids reach their spitting and
- 35:44Speaker 9: biting phase.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Then it's time to show them a little horror in
- 35:47Speaker 4: the world. Exactly. Put them in their damn place. It's
- 35:49Speaker 4: not going to kill them.
- 35:50Speaker 10: It'll only make them stronger or scar them for life,
- 35:52Speaker 10: and they'll never come out of their shell or do anything.
- 35:54Speaker 10: Even if it scars them for life. Sometimes those are
- 35:56Speaker 10: scars you need. Sometimes that's how you learn to function.
- 36:00Speaker 11: We've all been scarred in one way or another when
- 36:02Speaker 11: we were a child because of that situation or that
- 36:04Speaker 11: movie maybe we shouldn't have seen. But stuff like that
- 36:07Speaker 11: hasn't killed any of us. Maybe jaded, sure, but that's
- 36:10Speaker 11: just personality building. I wouldn't be this great person I
- 36:13Speaker 11: am today if I hadn't seen such jaded people. Jaded
- 36:16Speaker 11: movies that I saw when I was younger.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Thank you very much for that, by the way.
- 36:21Speaker 9: I don't think simple kids' movies really changed me in
- 36:25Speaker 9: any way when I was little, but It, the movie It.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Well, yeah.
- 36:29Speaker 9: Clowns and sewage drains.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Seriously. As well you should be in both cases. You
- 36:34Speaker 4: should be leering of both of them.
- 36:35Speaker 10: Yes.
- 36:36Speaker 8: It never scared me. Killer Clowns from Outer Space scared
- 36:38Speaker 8: the shit out of me.
- 36:39Speaker 4: I don't think kids are supposed to watch that. Yeah,
- 36:42Speaker 4: I'm like five years old watching it with my phone. Dad,
- 36:45Speaker 4: why don't you watch it with me? Why don't you
- 36:46Speaker 4: watch that? That explains a lot.
- 36:50Speaker 7: Okay, let's go.
- 36:50Speaker 12: Yep.
- 36:52Speaker 9: On a random side note, which I'm now famous for,
- 36:56Speaker 9: I went to Zaxby's for lunch yesterday, and they had clowns,
- 36:59Speaker 9: and children don't like clowns.
- 37:01Speaker 1: No.
- 37:01Speaker 4: They don't like clowns. They never have.
- 37:03Speaker 9: These clowns are just, they're these two old dudes, like
- 37:06Speaker 9: in clown makeup.
- 37:06Speaker 4: They smell like Marlboro Reds. Yeah, really.
- 37:08Speaker 8: One was a clown doctor, and the other was just
- 37:10Speaker 8: a hobo clown.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Hobo clowns are not funny.
- 37:13Speaker 6: I know.
- 37:14Speaker 4: None of them are clown-less.
- 37:15Speaker 9: They were making balloon animals, and all these kids were
- 37:17Speaker 9: just like.
- 37:18Speaker 4: What the fuck is wrong with you? Please get away
- 37:19Speaker 4: from me. I do not want to sit in your way.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I know.
- 37:21Speaker 9: They were entertaining themselves. It was really kind of like
- 37:25Speaker 9: really sad to watch. It was really sad to watch. Actually,
- 37:28Speaker 9: the employees, like the teenage girl employees were so excited.
- 37:31Speaker 9: I'm like, wow, your job must really blow.
- 37:33Speaker 8: Right? If I were to do Zaxby's or any fast
- 37:36Speaker 8: food restaurant in some clown show, that would be exciting.
- 37:39Speaker 4: This is sad.
- 37:41Speaker 11: But like as far as movies that kind of scarred me, Poltergeist.
- 37:44Speaker 11: I should have, I was so too young to watch
- 37:47Speaker 11: that movie.
- 37:47Speaker 9: Yep.
- 37:49Speaker 4: And it really messed me up.
- 37:50Speaker 11: But I mean, I have dealt with, you know, living
- 37:53Speaker 11: in what I thought, which seems like a haunted house
- 37:56Speaker 11: for years or whatever. And, you know, supernatural is really interesting.
- 38:01Speaker 11: It didn't do anything really perk my interest as I
- 38:03Speaker 11: got older. It's not something that totally jaded me. to
- 38:07Speaker 11: where I can't function in the world. So any bit
- 38:10Speaker 11: of reality you can throw kids, I think, is good.
- 38:12Speaker 11: You know, not the younger the better. Of course, you've
- 38:14Speaker 11: got to judge accordingly.
- 38:15Speaker 8: Don't trust America to judge accordingly.
- 38:19Speaker 10: Judge accordingly equals parenting, which most people do not want
- 38:22Speaker 10: to do at all.
- 38:23Speaker 9: Isn't that what they pay the public school systems to do?
- 38:26Speaker 4: Oh, obviously these days.
- 38:28Speaker 11: But it's just like, you know, it's kind of like
- 38:31Speaker 11: Barney and Dora and, you know, A lot of whatever's
- 38:35Speaker 11: on Nickelodeon or whatever is so just, yet again, antiseptic
- 38:40Speaker 11: and no one's really dealing with any things. Yet, any
- 38:43Speaker 11: kid can go into the next newest Michael Bay movie
- 38:46Speaker 11: and see shit blowing up everywhere and cuss words being thrown.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Around ad nauseum. More so. And that's apparently nothing.
- 38:53Speaker 10: That's... you know and you can see that even not
- 38:55Speaker 10: taking the entertainment world into effect i mean you raise
- 38:58Speaker 10: this kid on barney and dora and then you send
- 39:01Speaker 10: them to school the first day where he's getting beat
- 39:02Speaker 10: and they're getting yeah like knifed and buying drugs in
- 39:05Speaker 10: the hallway i mean like that's not the real world
- 39:07Speaker 10: we need a level of.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Transition to take us to the real world i like.
- 39:11Speaker 11: My family odd parents that's good it's a good cartoon
- 39:14Speaker 11: it's not for mindless.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Kids warping children's minds.
- 39:18Speaker 11: But i think funny that like bringing that up i
- 39:21Speaker 11: almost think that heart beeps could be redone with more
- 39:24Speaker 11: adult things in it i actually think it could I
- 39:27Speaker 11: don't want to see the robo-owner, but I think if.
- 39:31Speaker 4: They did it now.
- 39:32Speaker 10: Would it be transforming?
- 39:36Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 39:38Speaker 10: But I think if they did it now, they would
- 39:40Speaker 10: totally screw it up like they do with all of these,
- 39:43Speaker 10: but I'm saying I think that's what's cool about this
- 39:45Speaker 10: is that it had all these elements of like life
- 39:48Speaker 10: and death and like you know loving your family and
- 39:51Speaker 10: teaching and the next generation and I think all of
- 39:55Speaker 10: that would be gone and it would just be.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Special effects and stupid kiddified you know bullshit.
- 40:01Speaker 10: God we'll be friends to the end this movie is
- 40:05Speaker 10: just long enough for kids attention spans just to catch
- 40:08Speaker 10: it and be like oh yeah that's why it really
- 40:10Speaker 10: feels like a Disney movie it does.
- 40:13Speaker 8: I didn't see it as a child because I was
- 40:16Speaker 8: born in 96, so I got like labyrinth.
- 40:18Speaker 4: That's no excuse. Ooh, but that's good though. That's damn good.
- 40:21Speaker 8: That's my winning points.
- 40:22Speaker 4: You should go back in time and watch it. Yeah.
- 40:26Speaker 8: Like it now i'll probably watch it again i mean i'm.
- 40:28Speaker 10: Just gonna wait for the sequel i mean robo robot
- 40:31Speaker 10: bastard 9000 with randy quaid yeah he's still doing anything
- 40:37Speaker 10: yeah he'd be a trailer in nevada poor.
- 40:41Speaker 4: Randy i feel like this sequel is going to be
- 40:44Speaker 4: a little bit more intense yeah In space.
- 40:47Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 2: God.
- 40:49Speaker 11: Well, of course, it's, like, funny it's another one of those.
- 40:51Speaker 11: This was the 80s version of the future.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yeah, it was the least futuristic future. I know. There's
- 40:57Speaker 4: another one of those. I don't think what it was.
- 40:58Speaker 4: I just, there's a lot of movies that, like, do
- 41:00Speaker 4: this super futuristic world, but this is not one of them. Well,
- 41:03Speaker 4: Death Race 2000 was hilarious because their vision of the
- 41:06Speaker 4: future was, like, But at least it was, like, a
- 41:08Speaker 4: weird 70s version of the future. Like, this was just, like, normal. Like,
- 41:11Speaker 4: other than the bag of beer, like, in the future
- 41:14Speaker 4: they have pickup trucks. Yeah, like old fitness pickup trucks.
- 41:19Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:19Speaker 4: What was that about? I was like, this is normal.
- 41:22Speaker 8: The only super future car was Crime Buster 3.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty much. All the rest of them were just...
- 41:28Speaker 4: They had this little slant front. They were like wedges.
- 41:32Speaker 4: You know, this.
- 41:32Speaker 9: Movie was accurate about the future because there was Lady
- 41:35Speaker 9: Gaga in this movie.
- 41:36Speaker 4: That bitch was in this movie. She looked exactly like her.
- 41:40Speaker 10: As soon as I saw her, There's some weird chick
- 41:43Speaker 10: at the party that they go to, which is that
- 41:46Speaker 10: they bust into a party in the middle of this movie.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's Lady Gaga. As soon as I saw her,
- 41:51Speaker 4: I was like, holy shit.
- 41:52Speaker 8: I mean, her nose, her hair, her haircut.
- 41:53Speaker 4: I mean, the whole look. Except she had pants.
- 41:59Speaker 9: But, you know, that was the only thing.
- 42:01Speaker 10: Which makes me think, did little Lady Gaga watch this
- 42:03Speaker 10: movie growing up and be.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Like, that girl, that girl right there.
- 42:06Speaker 11: Someone needs to tweet her and be like, watch Heartbeats,
- 42:09Speaker 11: you're in a bitch.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Banana daiquiri. No, just be like, you stole your look.
- 42:16Speaker 4: I did not order this. You stole your look from Heartbeats.
- 42:19Speaker 4: Banana daiquiri. Your look is so 1981.
- 42:21Speaker 9: We'll know if Lady Gaga's next single is called, like,
- 42:26Speaker 9: Banana Daiquiri. Or even heartbeats.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Or she comes out dressed like a robot.
- 42:32Speaker 5: She goes to the grocery dressed like a robot.
- 42:37Speaker 9: She has songs that talk about disco sticks or something,
- 42:40Speaker 9: which makes me think of Roboner.
- 42:44Speaker 4: The infamous Roboner.
- 42:45Speaker 11: Except a glowing Roboner. Disco stick is a glowing Roboner.
- 42:49Speaker 11: There's oscillation going on.
- 42:51Speaker 9: I mean, when I think disco stick, I just think
- 42:54Speaker 9: of some like... ambiguously gay like club kid in a
- 42:59Speaker 9: pink fishnet shirt with like glow sticks in his mouth.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Macaulay Culkin?
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:03Speaker 9: Party monster stuff.
- 43:04Speaker 10: He is a party monster. Yeah, he's banging Mealy Kunis.
- 43:09Speaker 10: Mealy Kunis.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Mealy Kunis. Punk rock tribute to Lady Gaga. Really? That'd
- 43:15Speaker 4: be tight. That's incredible. They went through costume changes and stuff.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Nice.
- 43:20Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 43:21Speaker 8: Is there a Kermit outfit?
- 43:23Speaker 10: Huh?
- 43:23Speaker 8: Is there a Kermit outfit?
- 43:25Speaker 4: She showed me Lady Gaga wearing Kermits. That's creepy. A
- 43:28Speaker 4: lot of them.
- 43:29Speaker 8: Yeah, multiple Kermits.
- 43:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it was insane.
- 43:31Speaker 14: They had weird glowing wands that they were waving around.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Nice.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:37Speaker 9: I was hanging out with a friend the other day
- 43:40Speaker 9: and it was probably about 12 30 and she was
- 43:42Speaker 9: like oh my god why is my dad texting me
- 43:44Speaker 9: the lyrics to poker face.
- 43:47Speaker 11: Oh get out of here because your father has been
- 43:49Speaker 11: gay your whole life and he's just now coming out
- 43:52Speaker 11: i was.
- 43:54Speaker 9: Like wow i mean i guess everyone i don't know
- 43:57Speaker 9: if it's just her but it seems like a lot
- 43:59Speaker 9: of Older people know about Lady Gaga.
- 44:02Speaker 10: My dad.
- 44:03Speaker 4: She's pretty mainstream.
- 44:04Speaker 20: At this point.
- 44:05Speaker 9: Yeah, I know she's mainstream, but it's just like.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Re-referenced.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Yeah, my dad's like the most country person in the world.
- 44:11Speaker 4: And manly man, you know. Yeah, he's like motorcycle. Yes.
- 44:14Speaker 8: And I'm talking about Lady Gaga, and he's like, I
- 44:16Speaker 8: really like her.
- 44:18Speaker 4: I like her music.
- 44:19Speaker 8: She's just so sweet.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Yeah. Just be like, ah, you know, never mind. I'm
- 44:23Speaker 4: not even going to go there, Dad. I was like,
- 44:25Speaker 4: all right, I agree with you.
- 44:26Speaker 8: I like her too, but that's weird. Yeah. I might
- 44:29Speaker 8: stop liking her.
- 44:30Speaker 9: I mean, it's really strange how I don't listen to
- 44:34Speaker 9: pop music at all unless it's like, I don't know,
- 44:36Speaker 9: European pop music or something totally stupid. But like, I
- 44:40Speaker 9: kind of like Lady Gaga and most people do, which
- 44:42Speaker 9: is weird that she's kind of like.
- 44:43Speaker 8: She's just weird enough.
- 44:45Speaker 11: Choo, choo, choo.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Yeah. Or people. Or people. I'm sorry.
- 44:50Speaker 11: I don't like Lady Gaga, but the fact we're talking
- 44:53Speaker 11: about her a lot right now, I'm kind of having problems.
- 44:56Speaker 4: Oh, Lord help us.
- 44:57Speaker 9: Okay, I'm going to work on that Adderall. Getting that
- 45:03Speaker 9: Adderall stuff. Okay.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Robots. So, my question.
- 45:09Speaker 10: I'm almost in almost all I can say about Harley, so.
- 45:12Speaker 4: Well, I was going to ask more, like, we get these, like,
- 45:15Speaker 4: right off the bat, we get these robots with emotions.
- 45:18Speaker 10: I mean, we get robots that are afraid of things
- 45:20Speaker 10: and robots that are.
- 45:22Speaker 4: starting to have feelings for each other. So, I mean,
- 45:24Speaker 4: is that... What are your thoughts on robots having emotions?
- 45:28Speaker 9: That's every robot movie ever made.
- 45:30Speaker 12: It is.
- 45:30Speaker 4: It's the quintessential, like... Robot thing.
- 45:33Speaker 11: Yeah, robot thing. Which, I love robots. Everyone knows this.
- 45:37Speaker 11: And that's, of course, one of the themes that is
- 45:39Speaker 11: always cool. The coolest about robots is making artificial intelligence
- 45:44Speaker 11: and does it have a soul and can it feel?
- 45:46Speaker 11: Those are always the questions that if you're ever going
- 45:48Speaker 11: to make a robot about movies... you have to kind
- 45:51Speaker 11: of have that in there.
- 45:52Speaker 10: Otherwise it's just about death machines or whatever, because you know,
- 45:56Speaker 10: they will kill us one day.
- 45:57Speaker 4: So that was my thing.
- 45:59Speaker 10: Like as we crossed the line into the heavy duty
- 46:02Speaker 10: artificial life, I mean, if we get to that point,
- 46:05Speaker 10: what comes with that? I mean, is it like when
- 46:07Speaker 10: we get to these brains that can process, you know,
- 46:09Speaker 10: these mechanical brains that can process all this stuff? I mean, that's,
- 46:13Speaker 10: Essentially what our brain does. It's a computer, so does
- 46:19Speaker 10: that come with being able to process that?
- 46:23Speaker 9: Not to be overly philosophical about this, but I really
- 46:28Speaker 9: think that that's a common theme in not just robots,
- 46:31Speaker 9: but any.
- 46:33Speaker 4: Any sentient... It just goes.
- 46:35Speaker 9: Down to people wondering... like what, you know, they understand
- 46:40Speaker 9: how life is created, but they don't understand what causes emotions. And,
- 46:45Speaker 9: you know, they can create something that acts and looks
- 46:47Speaker 9: and behaves human, but I think it's just like a
- 46:51Speaker 9: really basic, like.
- 46:53Speaker 11: A lot of humans have problems with that.
- 46:56Speaker 4: That's like the infancy of science fiction. That was Frankenstein.
- 46:59Speaker 10: It was creating something and then not understanding what to
- 47:02Speaker 10: do with it or what makes it alive and.
- 47:06Speaker 4: This is sort of the same thing. If you've got.
- 47:08Speaker 10: Machines that get that complex, is there a level that
- 47:11Speaker 10: they can process something? Again, that's sort of what our
- 47:14Speaker 10: brain does. It's processing things. Is there a point where
- 47:19Speaker 10: what we process as emotions becomes some sort of mathematical process?
- 47:24Speaker 10: Is it something that Can be boiled down to a
- 47:27Speaker 10: mathematical computation almost.
- 47:30Speaker 11: I am not a physics major. I don't really know
- 47:33Speaker 11: a whole lot about relative whatever.
- 47:36Speaker 4: Or philosophical. Or philosophical whatever. It crosses both lines.
- 47:40Speaker 10: But what I like is it seems like with humans,
- 47:43Speaker 10: whenever we build something, anything.
- 47:47Speaker 4: we usually go in.
- 47:48Speaker 11: One direction and that's just like go go go go
- 47:50Speaker 11: go go you gotta do it out and like you
- 47:53Speaker 11: know even though it's not right and it's you know
- 47:56Speaker 11: against these laws and morality that doesn't stop us from
- 48:01Speaker 11: taking it there never so i think when it comes
- 48:03Speaker 11: to robotics i think the future is there's an inevitable
- 48:08Speaker 11: destination for where that's going to go like i think
- 48:11Speaker 11: that's Anything that can take in data and experience it
- 48:18Speaker 11: will inevitably somehow, by mathematical chaos equation, begin to question that.
- 48:25Speaker 4: And that, I think, is the spawning of what, why.
- 48:28Speaker 11: It's like the spawning of any of that when it
- 48:31Speaker 11: comes to robots or movies featuring robots feeling or whatever.
- 48:36Speaker 4: I think it's just that question why. And I think
- 48:38Speaker 4: inevitably it will get there. Like, it just has to.
- 48:42Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, they're giving these computations that, you know,
- 48:45Speaker 10: the computers we're making now are getting close to exceeding
- 48:48Speaker 10: what the human brain can do.
- 48:50Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 48:50Speaker 10: And in 10 to 20, 30 years, it's going to
- 48:53Speaker 10: be a million.
- 48:54Speaker 4: Times more powerful. So, I mean, how can it not
- 48:58Speaker 4: reach that level?
- 48:59Speaker 9: And also, I think a lot of these movies are
- 49:01Speaker 9: made as, like, a fun, like a fun.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Lighthearted way of looking.
- 49:06Speaker 10: Well, like....
- 49:10Speaker 9: Revealing the fear that everyone has always had about computers
- 49:13Speaker 9: as whether or not they can grow and change and
- 49:17Speaker 9: eventually process and, and. things that they're not programmed to do.
- 49:22Speaker 9: Robot uprising.
- 49:23Speaker 4: I'm telling you, it's inevitable, I feel. Most movies are
- 49:27Speaker 4: made by robots. That's right.
- 49:30Speaker 11: They have been sent back from the future.
- 49:32Speaker 4: They're laying the groundwork. They're like, oh, no, look, we
- 49:34Speaker 4: can care. We're totally cool. We feel. Well, that was
- 49:38Speaker 4: my thing. Once we get comfortable with them and start building.
- 49:42Speaker 10: Them like a mass, then they turn on us.
- 49:46Speaker 11: But it's, you know, and I always love that. That's,
- 49:49Speaker 11: of course, one of the fundamental things that I love
- 49:51Speaker 11: about it. And it's still intriguing, no matter how many
- 49:53Speaker 11: times the tale can be told over and over again,
- 49:55Speaker 11: the tale of robots feeling is always awesome.
- 49:59Speaker 4: It's always interesting. I'm always on board for it.
- 50:01Speaker 10: Again, I think it's a much bigger question. And it's
- 50:05Speaker 10: funny that this one ties in all of those. It's
- 50:06Speaker 10: like the robots feeling thing, but then it ties in.
- 50:09Speaker 10: the basic, like, human lessons of the life and death
- 50:13Speaker 10: and of just actually.
- 50:14Speaker 4: Just being a couple.
- 50:15Speaker 10: They do more bickering in this movie as a couple
- 50:18Speaker 10: than a lot of human, you know, stupid comedies do.
- 50:21Speaker 4: So it's like they actually get that part of it
- 50:23Speaker 4: kind of right.
- 50:24Speaker 8: It plays well into, like, their little journey.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Bill!
- 50:29Speaker 7: Where are you?
- 50:32Speaker 4: Aqua, I assumed you were watching the fill unit.
- 50:36Speaker 16: In the future, please devote additional concentration on this simple task.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Incorrect.
- 50:42Speaker 8: Task is not simple.
- 50:45Speaker 10: I advise you to share this responsibility as it is
- 50:47Speaker 10: surprisingly energy draining.
- 50:49Speaker 9: Do you agree?
- 50:50Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 4: It really does.
- 50:52Speaker 8: It's distracting from what they're doing.
- 50:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:54Speaker 10: I mean, it ties that in pretty well. Again, more
- 50:57Speaker 10: than you would expect this kind of movie to do.
- 50:59Speaker 10: It sort of addresses a lot of these bigger issues.
- 51:02Speaker 10: But at the same time, not. I mean, it leaves
- 51:04Speaker 10: it such a simple tale and so lighthearted. And it doesn't, like,
- 51:07Speaker 10: focus on it or, like, dwell on it. It just
- 51:10Speaker 10: puts it out there. I think 90% of people don't
- 51:12Speaker 10: even notice that. They're just like, huh, look at them
- 51:14Speaker 10: goofy robots.
- 51:15Speaker 11: Like the moment that was cool when they're, like, looking
- 51:18Speaker 11: through the junk or whatever. And I can't remember what
- 51:20Speaker 11: she says, but he's like, she's looking through junk and
- 51:23Speaker 11: he's looking through junk and he looks over at her.
- 51:25Speaker 11: And then goes and pulls her over to him. And
- 51:28Speaker 11: then they both start looking through junk together. That moment
- 51:31Speaker 11: was awesome.
- 51:32Speaker 8: He reiterated something she had said to him earlier.
- 51:34Speaker 4: That's right.
- 51:36Speaker 10: It's a very couple thing to do. It's like you're
- 51:38Speaker 10: using their words towards them.
- 51:40Speaker 8: I will be.
- 51:41Speaker 11: Okay if you give me all the information. Talk to
- 51:44Speaker 11: me and I'll be okay. If you keep me out
- 51:45Speaker 11: of the loop, I won't be okay. And he threw
- 51:48Speaker 11: it back at her.
- 51:49Speaker 4: And then they're like, oh. That's awesome. That was an
- 51:53Speaker 4: awesome moment.
- 51:53Speaker 10: Again, it's an accurate couple situation. They do a good
- 51:58Speaker 10: job of presenting them as a couple. They don't beat
- 52:00Speaker 10: you over the head with it like they would nowadays.
- 52:02Speaker 4: It's just subtle. In an Ashton Kutcher movie. Jesus Christ.
- 52:07Speaker 8: Him and Katherine Heigl's in a new one.
- 52:10Speaker 4: He's an assassin? I don't buy it. He's Ashton Kutcher.
- 52:14Speaker 9: They should just stop making movies.
- 52:17Speaker 4: No, don't say that.
- 52:19Speaker 9: No, no, no, just Ashton Kutcher movies.
- 52:22Speaker 4: That's what I meant.
- 52:24Speaker 9: I mean, Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl should stop making movies.
- 52:27Speaker 4: I'm fine with both of them. Please stop making movies,
- 52:29Speaker 4: both of them.
- 52:29Speaker 9: Oh, I thought you were going to say you're fine
- 52:30Speaker 9: with both of them. No, no, no.
- 52:32Speaker 4: They could actually die.
- 52:33Speaker 9: I'm kind of like the Katherine Heigl of real life, though.
- 52:35Speaker 4: Mine's the happy ending. I don't like Katherine Heigl. I
- 52:37Speaker 4: don't even know why. I just don't like her.
- 52:39Speaker 8: I liked her in Roswell.
- 52:42Speaker 9: I liked her in that movie, Wish Upon a Star.
- 52:45Speaker 4: That was really good.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 52:47Speaker 4: She's no Daniel Harris.
- 52:49Speaker 9: Daniel Harris was pretty awesome.
- 52:50Speaker 4: She said short. Daniel Harris is awesome.
- 52:55Speaker 10: So the other thing I wanted to go into is
- 52:57Speaker 10: just the look of these characters. So what are your
- 53:00Speaker 10: thoughts on the visual look of mostly our main two characters?
- 53:04Speaker 4: Stan Winston did a good job. Kind of, but... The
- 53:08Speaker 4: eyes weren't good.
- 53:09Speaker 10: Well, yeah.
- 53:10Speaker 9: I think Val's character, which was played by Andy Kaufman,
- 53:13Speaker 9: was a more believable robot. She just kind of looked
- 53:16Speaker 9: like she had some crazy gold makeup on.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 53:20Speaker 10: I mean, to me, I think we got several people
- 53:23Speaker 10: that would, you know, send things back via Twitter. I
- 53:26Speaker 10: won't say how they did it because Roger will freak out.
- 53:28Speaker 10: But a lot of them were just like, yeah, that
- 53:30Speaker 10: movie really creeped me out. And a lot of people
- 53:32Speaker 10: use that. And then I started asking people, did it
- 53:35Speaker 10: creep you out? A lot of people had that reaction
- 53:38Speaker 10: to the look. And I kind of see it like
- 53:40Speaker 10: looking at it now. It's a really weird look.
- 53:43Speaker 4: What was that Robin Williams robot? The Bicentennial Man. It's
- 53:47Speaker 4: the same look.
- 53:49Speaker 10: It's exactly the same look.
- 53:50Speaker 4: It didn't freak.
- 53:51Speaker 8: Me out as much because it was just all gray.
- 53:53Speaker 4: Yeah. This one, it's the weird, yeah, the shiny makeup.
- 53:56Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 53:58Speaker 10: I started thinking it's almost like this movie works the
- 54:02Speaker 10: uncanny valley theory in reverse.
- 54:05Speaker 4: Do you know?
- 54:05Speaker 10: I mean, at this point, animation brings it up all
- 54:08Speaker 10: the time. But it actually was based on robotics. It's
- 54:11Speaker 10: based on like in this 1970, I think they threw
- 54:14Speaker 10: out this theory that The way that people respond to robots,
- 54:18Speaker 10: it goes, they have this whole chart, and it's like,
- 54:21Speaker 10: people like robots when it's a box, they like them
- 54:24Speaker 10: this much. When they start making them with arms and legs,
- 54:26Speaker 10: it shoots up, and they're like, oh, it looks kind
- 54:28Speaker 10: of like a person.
- 54:29Speaker 4: It's great. And then it hits that.
- 54:31Speaker 10: Point when they're a little too close, and it creeps
- 54:34Speaker 10: us the fuck out. And it's this shoot, and it
- 54:37Speaker 10: just takes a nosedive, and that becomes the uncanny valley
- 54:40Speaker 10: in this little project that they have.
- 54:42Speaker 4: So to me.
- 54:43Speaker 10: This is so weird because it falls into that same category,
- 54:46Speaker 10: but it's working backwards. It's like we're taking human beings...
- 54:51Speaker 10: making them look like robots. And the more we make
- 54:53Speaker 10: them look like robots, the more they kind of backslide
- 54:56Speaker 10: into this uncanny valley.
- 54:57Speaker 11: Well, it's like the new robot. I can't remember Japanese.
- 55:01Speaker 11: They just developed it. That dude who made a robot
- 55:04Speaker 11: companion that looks like him was frightening, but the new
- 55:07Speaker 11: robot that they designed to look like this woman, it's.
- 55:12Speaker 4: Really messed up because it looks like her.
- 55:16Speaker 11: It's exactly to where the minute facial movements and ticks
- 55:20Speaker 11: that she has, It mimics.
- 55:22Speaker 4: It's too close. It's just like, yeah, that's, that's what
- 55:24Speaker 4: freaks us out. It's too close.
- 55:26Speaker 10: And, and, I think that, I mean, this isn't that realistic,
- 55:29Speaker 10: but it's just realistic enough that it looks weird.
- 55:32Speaker 8: If I had seen it as a child, it probably
- 55:34Speaker 8: would have freaked me out.
- 55:35Speaker 4: I mean, that's... It's close enough. Close enough. That's the thing.
- 55:39Speaker 10: If they looked like the baby robot, you'd be like,
- 55:41Speaker 10: this is a great story. It's the fact that they
- 55:45Speaker 10: get so close to being humanoid, you know, pretty close
- 55:48Speaker 10: to actual humans, but it's just weird enough that they're plasticky,
- 55:52Speaker 10: and they creep you out.
- 55:54Speaker 4: It's a weird look to it.
- 55:55Speaker 8: Her makeup was really well done. Like... You can see
- 55:57Speaker 8: where the eye holes were because there's obviously a plastic
- 56:00Speaker 8: mask or not.
- 56:01Speaker 4: But his.
- 56:02Speaker 8: There was like a space right here which really freaked
- 56:05Speaker 8: me out.
- 56:05Speaker 4: It was really big. Because his... I mean, his face
- 56:09Speaker 4: didn't stick out that far. It was a big piece of.
- 56:11Speaker 9: It reminded me of a ventriloquist dummy.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:13Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Which are very creepy for that very reason.
- 56:17Speaker 10: For that same reason that they're like little weird people
- 56:20Speaker 10: but they're not and they creep you the fuck out
- 56:22Speaker 10: and that's... Yeah, I think that's what this.
- 56:23Speaker 4: It'll come to.
- 56:24Speaker 8: Life in 19... The fact that Jokebot was sitting on
- 56:26Speaker 8: top of it.
- 56:27Speaker 4: a crate.
- 56:28Speaker 10: Yeah that's right kind of yeah I didn't even he
- 56:32Speaker 10: had treads it was cool I'm.
- 56:32Speaker 15: Comfortable with my Johnny Fives and yeah see those and
- 56:36Speaker 15: Philco and Wally yeah exactly they're humanoid they have heads
- 56:41Speaker 15: and arms and they're cute.
- 56:43Speaker 10: And that's why we like them but they're obviously a
- 56:46Speaker 10: robot it's not trying to be a person it's just
- 56:48Speaker 10: sort of shaped like a person and that's what we
- 56:50Speaker 10: like we don't like.
- 56:51Speaker 11: It I don't like it and personally I don't really
- 56:54Speaker 11: like it going there of course you know like people
- 56:57Speaker 11: are going there with it but it's like yeah give
- 56:59Speaker 11: me the Nismo robot you know something that dances and
- 57:03Speaker 11: it's like has glowing blue eyes that's cool that's soothing
- 57:06Speaker 11: it's not fucking creepy as hell it's gonna choke us
- 57:10Speaker 11: one day oh they all will yeah we're gonna.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Die there's a book it's called.
- 57:15Speaker 9: How to Survive a Robot Uprising.
- 57:17Speaker 22: Nice explosives get lots of explosives all I want to
- 57:21Speaker 22: know is if all these machines learn how to feel
- 57:24Speaker 22: call the Jedi Will Skynet not blow us up because
- 57:27Speaker 22: he realizes.
- 57:28Speaker 4: It'll be sad? He doesn't get sad. He only gets mad.
- 57:31Speaker 4: But maybe he didn't get that far into it.
- 57:33Speaker 10: Maybe if you give him a little longer before he
- 57:36Speaker 10: blows shit up, maybe if he just has a little
- 57:37Speaker 10: longer to finally finish processing his emotions, he'll be like.
- 57:41Speaker 4: Oh, but I'll blow up bunnies and kitties too.
- 57:44Speaker 11: That's the thing that kills me is like, what's the
- 57:46Speaker 11: morality compass for a robot that learns.
- 57:49Speaker 4: hate and love.
- 57:49Speaker 10: Equally yeah like well i think the biggest message rabbits
- 57:53Speaker 10: what the fuck rabbits have to do with me well
- 57:55Speaker 10: i think what's the biggest well that's what was cool
- 57:58Speaker 10: about filko he loved he loved little animals he kept
- 58:00Speaker 10: chasing him around trying to figure him out again trying
- 58:02Speaker 10: to understand life and that's what it all is.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Yeah he did try to play with the bear yeah
- 58:08Speaker 4: bears are cool.
- 58:10Speaker 9: Did it have internet movie database whether or not that
- 58:14Speaker 9: was Bart the Bear? He was like the bear.
- 58:16Speaker 8: In every movie.
- 58:18Speaker 4: He wasn't everything at that point. He's the only one
- 58:21Speaker 4: that didn't maul its trainers. He only mauled three kids. Yeah.
- 58:25Speaker 4: As opposed to the 13 of them. No, he was
- 58:28Speaker 4: a genius. He mauled those. He probably didn't maul. That's
- 58:31Speaker 4: what I'm saying. He mauled way less kids than most bears.
- 58:35Speaker 4: More like pill monkey than other bears.
- 58:37Speaker 10: I don't think he gives a cast for the bear.
- 58:42Speaker 10: Or the raccoon, really, which was one ugly dog. He
- 58:46Speaker 10: was one ugly dog.
- 58:47Speaker 8: I wish the humans were more.
- 58:50Speaker 4: The junkyard? They were so minute that it's like.
- 58:54Speaker 8: Because it could have delved into their relationship with the
- 58:58Speaker 8: robots a little bit at the end, maybe.
- 58:59Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 59:00Speaker 10: Because they were super techno nerds and lived in a
- 59:02Speaker 10: junkyard and knew the lingo.
- 59:04Speaker 8: She had a lot of belts on.
- 59:06Speaker 4: Like little packs and stuff. You know, the robot styling. Deathbot9000,
- 59:11Speaker 4: whatever his name was. Crankbuster dogs. He had kind of
- 59:16Speaker 4: a Dalek. Yeah, he did look like a Dalek. Yeah,
- 59:19Speaker 4: he did. And the fact that he was going around
- 59:21Speaker 4: blowing up rabbits. Yeah, pretty much.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Nice.
- 59:23Speaker 4: He was just pure hate. Exterminate.
- 59:25Speaker 8: That's too sad.
- 59:27Speaker 4: Dialects were awesome.
- 59:28Speaker 8: I like that at the beginning of the movie when
- 59:29Speaker 8: he blew up the trunk was the exact same footage
- 59:32Speaker 8: that he used at the end of the movie when
- 59:34Speaker 8: he was in the woods.
- 59:35Speaker 4: Yeah. Hey, explosions are pricey.
- 59:37Speaker 10: You gotta conserve.
- 59:40Speaker 9: Recycle, reduce, reuse.
- 59:42Speaker 10: Reuse.
- 59:43Speaker 4: Your explosion.
- 59:45Speaker 9: Yes.
- 59:46Speaker 4: Now that's conservation I can get by.
- 59:48Speaker 9: It's not as bad as the Leap footage in Night
- 59:51Speaker 9: of the Leapist. As long as no movie recycles their footage.
- 59:55Speaker 4: As much as they did. That movie's awesome. I don't
- 59:58Speaker 4: know what you're talking about. That's why I fell asleep.
- 1:00:00Speaker 8: You know they have the Leapist, right?
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: Yeah. my grandpa built this set and I still didn't
- 1:00:06Speaker 9: want to watch that.
- 1:00:06Speaker 10: Movie well I did I don't care what anybody said
- 1:00:09Speaker 10: but they did say it's been way too much time
- 1:00:10Speaker 10: watching bunny rabbits run in.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Slow motion yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 14: Isn't the recycling thing like kind of a signature Roger Corman.
- 1:00:19Speaker 10: It reminds me of just like Hanna-Barbera like Fred Flintstone
- 1:00:22Speaker 10: running past the same table and chair a thousand times
- 1:00:25Speaker 10: I think it's also.
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: So long that's that one scene where Daphne lost her pantyhose.
- 1:00:30Speaker 10: Yeah whoa what kind of party is this no i
- 1:00:33Speaker 10: think yeah roger corman usually probably recycled the sets over
- 1:00:36Speaker 10: and over i think you did see those things pop
- 1:00:38Speaker 10: up in the.
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: Same thing but yeah and actors and.
- 1:00:42Speaker 14: Bikes from uh death race 2000 that were in uh
- 1:00:46Speaker 14: whatever the one was called night riders yeah yeah yeah the.
- 1:00:50Speaker 10: Entire backdrop when they shot uh the one with jack
- 1:00:53Speaker 10: nicholson where they just like we've got this set for
- 1:00:55Speaker 10: three more days.
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: Let's make a movie. Let's make a movie. So yeah,
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: he's sort of known for that sort of behavior. I
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: wish it was still that simple.
- 1:01:03Speaker 10: I like one of the robots had a 2600 joystick
- 1:01:06Speaker 10: on the side.
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that's pretty cool. I can't remember which one. Or
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: maybe that was the test equipment when they were testing the...
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Philco had the nice cassette player. Wasn't that a Philco?
- 1:01:17Speaker 10: I assume that was where they stole the name.
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: I mean, that is like an old radio, isn't it?
- 1:01:22Speaker 8: Probably third, fourth cousin removed.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: Probably.
- 1:01:27Speaker 9: Yikes.
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: Kind of looks like Molly. I'll say watch it. If
- 1:01:31Speaker 10: you haven't seen it, I will give it my thumbs up.
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: I enjoyed it. I definitely did. It was a good
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: little time.
- 1:01:37Speaker 10: I guess, but it's like I almost have to throw
- 1:01:39Speaker 10: a warning out there that, I mean, as much as
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: we got out of it, I can see a lot
- 1:01:43Speaker 10: of people just being like, this is stupid.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Well, it's because people are jaded as hell.
- 1:01:47Speaker 10: They are.
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: I don't think it was stupid. stupid i mean there
- 1:01:49Speaker 9: wasn't a lot of content to it but it was
- 1:01:50Speaker 9: an enjoyable.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: But a lot of i can see a lot of
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: people oh i can see everybody hating it.
- 1:01:55Speaker 10: Yeah i can see a lot of like normal people
- 1:01:57Speaker 10: that aren't into like any specific that just turn on
- 1:02:00Speaker 10: a movie just being like this is dumb why are
- 1:02:02Speaker 10: these robots walking around.
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: Who only watch like michael bay's movies listen to this podcast.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: No okay you don't know but.
- 1:02:11Speaker 10: That doesn't mean that everybody listening likes the exact same
- 1:02:15Speaker 10: movie so if you you know you don't necessarily have
- 1:02:18Speaker 10: enough patience to sit and watch robots walk around in.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: The woods all day you might be in trouble in
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: this movie But if you like seeing... Your life is
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: too exciting.
- 1:02:27Speaker 10: If you like to see a big, you know, four-wheel
- 1:02:29Speaker 10: drive robot rolling through singing America the Beautiful and blowing
- 1:02:33Speaker 10: shit up, this is for you.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Because that scene is awesome. It is awesome. He's patriotic.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: And you know he's patriotic because he blows shit up.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:41Speaker 10: That's what America's all about. Keep in mind, we'll make
- 1:02:47Speaker 10: as much fun of Heart Beeps as we want. It
- 1:02:49Speaker 10: was nominated for an Academy Award.
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: Really?
- 1:02:52Speaker 10: They were nominated for Best Makeup for Stan Winston. It
- 1:02:55Speaker 10: was the same year as American Werewolf in London, so
- 1:02:58Speaker 10: they lost. But they basically created it that year. There
- 1:03:02Speaker 10: was no category up until American Werewolf in London came out.
- 1:03:05Speaker 10: They created the whole category for basically that movie. And
- 1:03:11Speaker 10: then they were just like, oh, this was pretty cool too,
- 1:03:13Speaker 10: but there's no way in hell you're going to win.
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: It's just kind of true. Oh, Lord. We did get
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: a little feedback on this. Oh, my God. Feedback, yes.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: It is time for your two cents on heartbeats. So,
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: once again, we hear from the lightning bug. Oh, nice.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Who did give us one of my favorite iTunes reviews.
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: What a cute name.
- 1:03:41Speaker 23: Hello, movie meltdowners. This is TL Bug from the lightning
- 1:03:45Speaker 23: bug's lair. I saw that you were asking people to
- 1:03:49Speaker 23: call in their recollections on Heartbeats, and of all things,
- 1:03:55Speaker 23: that was like my favorite movie when I was about,
- 1:03:58Speaker 23: I don't know, six or seven, something like that. I
- 1:04:01Speaker 23: remember it came to this dollar theater near me, and
- 1:04:05Speaker 23: it must have played for like ever, because it probably
- 1:04:07Speaker 23: didn't cost any money to keep in there, and I
- 1:04:11Speaker 23: must have seen it a dozen times or more, and
- 1:04:17Speaker 23: Then I thought about it forever, could never find it
- 1:04:20Speaker 23: on videotape. I think about the time I was about
- 1:04:22Speaker 23: 16 or 17, my dad finally tracked me down a
- 1:04:27Speaker 23: copy on VHS, and I just watched the hell out
- 1:04:30Speaker 23: of it until that thing was almost dying. Thank God
- 1:04:33Speaker 23: it's on DVD now. So I don't know why people
- 1:04:37Speaker 23: would be creeped out by it. I like it. Somehow
- 1:04:41Speaker 23: that started my love of Andy Kaufman. and I just
- 1:04:46Speaker 23: think it's a great movie, so I can't wait to
- 1:04:48Speaker 23: hear what y'all have to say about it.
- 1:04:50Speaker 10: Bye. I was kind of glad to see we had
- 1:04:52Speaker 10: a positive reaction, because, yeah, everybody else had a lot of, oh,
- 1:04:56Speaker 10: my God, that creeped me out response, but nobody else
- 1:04:58Speaker 10: bothered to write in with their responses.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Yeah, dude.
- 1:05:01Speaker 10: So, Lightning Bug wins, because you guys were too lazy
- 1:05:04Speaker 10: to call in or email.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: So, yeah.
- 1:05:08Speaker 10: So but yeah challenge any of you all to call
- 1:05:11Speaker 10: us call it in something you've got your little take
- 1:05:15Speaker 10: on it I know because occasionally you write back and
- 1:05:17Speaker 10: go oh yeah I saw that movie but then.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: You know nobody follows up with it other than lagging
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: bugs so thank you.
- 1:05:22Speaker 10: I know there's plenty of other things to do during
- 1:05:24Speaker 10: the day that are much.
- 1:05:25Speaker 20: More important oh yeah yeah of course I can't even imagine.
- 1:05:30Speaker 10: Yeah oh man but yeah I think that that is
- 1:05:34Speaker 10: funny it does sort of feel like a very dollar
- 1:05:37Speaker 10: theater kind of I can see going to the dollar
- 1:05:39Speaker 10: theater and seeing.
- 1:05:40Speaker 11: This this seems like a Baxter super eight yeah seems
- 1:05:46Speaker 11: like a Baxter type thing the night you know theater
- 1:05:49Speaker 11: thing at this point coming with cardboard boxes I'm wrapping
- 1:05:54Speaker 11: myself in tin foil the humans are dead the humans.
- 1:05:58Speaker 10: Are dead.
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: But I guess, yeah, the dollar theater is probably all
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: it was. Made it two.
- 1:06:03Speaker 10: Because, yeah, I guess this wasn't a huge success. I
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: did look up the box office gross was only a
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: little over $ 2 million. It cost over $ 10 million. First
- 1:06:14Speaker 10: of all, do you see $ 10 million? Because I like
- 1:06:17Speaker 10: the movie, but I don't see $ 10 million.
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: Especially for 1981. It's very high. I think somebody was
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: channeling the money into their pocket.
- 1:06:26Speaker 11: Yeah, like that matte painting is now worth $ 500, 000.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Or that truck that they drove around. Oh, that Citroen?
- 1:06:33Speaker 18: No.
- 1:06:33Speaker 10: That futuristic pickup truck. I don't think that was worth
- 1:06:36Speaker 10: $ 10 million. I'm not sure where that money went in
- 1:06:39Speaker 10: the budget.
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: Explosives.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: I guess.
- 1:06:41Speaker 10: That one shot of the explosion over and over again.
- 1:06:45Speaker 9: Maybe they paid Andy Kaufman $ 7 million.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: That might have been.
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: Not to drugs while he was doing it.
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: Well, that too. Shit too. I mean, he was kind
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: of a big name at that point.
- 1:06:56Speaker 10: And he was coming off, I think that was right
- 1:06:58Speaker 10: about when he left Taxi, which is funny because to me,
- 1:07:01Speaker 10: you totally hear the latke voice in this robot.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: I mean, it's almost like he continued it over. It's
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: a little less.
- 1:07:07Speaker 10: foreign a little more mechanical but it's very close to
- 1:07:10Speaker 10: the same little because he does all these other crazy
- 1:07:12Speaker 10: voices and none of them really sound like that as
- 1:07:14Speaker 10: you listen to other stuff that he does so this
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: definitely has that in there but i wonder how he.
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: Like prepared for this if he like sat in his
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: room like pretending to.
- 1:07:23Speaker 9: Be a robot for like a month probably did the
- 1:07:27Speaker 9: robot exist.
- 1:07:29Speaker 10: He's kind of crazy i don't know kind of extremely intense.
- 1:07:34Speaker 9: The robot in circles what do you think To prepare
- 1:07:37Speaker 9: for this role, he just danced the robot in circles
- 1:07:39Speaker 9: for a period of two weeks, practicing his voice.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: He probably did, because he's not right.
- 1:07:44Speaker 9: He and Jerry Garcia got together.
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: Quite possibly.
- 1:07:49Speaker 9: Did some coke, tripped on some acid.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Never. Neither of them are known for doing drugs.
- 1:07:53Speaker 23: Did the robot.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: They did a ton of the robot.
- 1:07:56Speaker 10: But I don't know, it was, I mean, he, everything
- 1:08:01Speaker 10: seemed like, such a performance with him that it's not
- 1:08:04Speaker 10: it's sort of weird to see him because he always
- 1:08:06Speaker 10: seemed like in his stand-up or when he would have
- 1:08:09Speaker 10: appearances on letterman or saturday night live he was almost
- 1:08:12Speaker 10: seemingly going out of his way to be kind of
- 1:08:14Speaker 10: annoying he was really like he would push that boundary
- 1:08:18Speaker 10: of like what's entertainment and what's just going to get
- 1:08:20Speaker 10: on your.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: Nerves that was really popular it was i mean that
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: What was his name?
- 1:08:26Speaker 9: To me, at that time, their thing was to be
- 1:08:28Speaker 9: so annoying and abrasive.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: Kind of.
- 1:08:30Speaker 10: I mean, I think it was just getting out of
- 1:08:31Speaker 10: that old. I mean, we're still coming out of the
- 1:08:33Speaker 10: era of vaudeville comedy. I mean, we've got, you know,
- 1:08:36Speaker 10: Henny Youngman is the other person they go to for
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: comedy for the old school version.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: So it's like we're getting away from that. And his
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: was that new wave of.
- 1:08:44Speaker 10: Annoying comedy that, I don't know.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: I mean, it definitely rubbed a lot of people the
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: wrong way.
- 1:08:49Speaker 10: So it's weird that he ended up in this because
- 1:08:51Speaker 10: this is such a toned down version of him. It's
- 1:08:54Speaker 10: kind of hard to imagine that it is him as
- 1:08:57Speaker 10: you're watching it.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: I mean, it looks like him.
- 1:08:59Speaker 8: It could be for kids.
- 1:09:01Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: Kids, you know, obviously would watch this.
- 1:09:03Speaker 10: Because even the stuff he did on TV sometimes wasn't
- 1:09:06Speaker 10: really something you needed to be watching.
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: I remember when Man and the Moon came out. I
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: was probably 13. My parents wouldn't even let me watch
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: it because it was about Andy Kaufman.
- 1:09:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:09:16Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: I mean, he's just confusing for kids.
- 1:09:19Speaker 11: I think he was probably schizophrenic to an extent. And
- 1:09:22Speaker 11: I think there's a point where nobody really knew who.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: He really, really was.
- 1:09:27Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: I mean, you always got that. Because he was always
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: in character. He was always a character.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Everything was part of a bit no matter what like you.
- 1:09:34Speaker 10: Would see him and he would sit there and do
- 1:09:35Speaker 10: this whole interview with letterman and you'd be like you've
- 1:09:38Speaker 10: never talked to andy you're talking exactly whatever that bit
- 1:09:42Speaker 10: was this time out it's like every time he came
- 1:09:45Speaker 10: out with something different something new something ridiculous and in
- 1:09:48Speaker 10: a way it is sort of comic genius but on
- 1:09:50Speaker 10: the other hand it is probably something messed up inside
- 1:09:53Speaker 10: of his head that definitely that made him who he
- 1:09:56Speaker 10: was i don't know anything else we need to go
- 1:09:59Speaker 10: into on heart beeps.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: I think so.
- 1:10:04Speaker 10: So we will wrap up this segment with a comment
- 1:10:07Speaker 10: I found from Andy Kaufman himself about heartbeats. Um, and it's,
- 1:10:12Speaker 10: it's Andy on Letterman as he always was. He, every
- 1:10:15Speaker 10: couple of weeks seemed like he turned up on Letterman
- 1:10:17Speaker 10: back then, but, um, I'm still not necessarily convinced this
- 1:10:20Speaker 10: is how he feels. He goes into it, but it, it, again,
- 1:10:24Speaker 10: it still seems like a performance because everything is a
- 1:10:26Speaker 10: performance with him.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: So, Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:10:29Speaker 10: It's weird because he's got kind of a negative, well,
- 1:10:32Speaker 10: not a kind of, an extremely negative take on it.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: And I don't know. I'm not sure what to think
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: of it.
- 1:10:36Speaker 10: But before you start to take him too seriously, keep
- 1:10:39Speaker 10: in mind, as he's saying all this, he's wearing a
- 1:10:42Speaker 10: bathrobe and a turban on his head.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: So, yeah, that's Andy Kaufman for you. Here you go.
- 1:10:50Speaker 19: Give me an indication of some criticism you've had that's
- 1:10:53Speaker 19: made you think twice and say, yeah, they're right.
- 1:10:56Speaker 21: For instance, even when the critics in general even put
- 1:10:59Speaker 21: me down, there are many times I agree with them.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: They've always been fair. For example? For example, when I
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: made that movie Heartbeats.
- 1:11:05Speaker 21: And it got terrible reviews, and I rightfully so. It
- 1:11:08Speaker 21: was a terrible movie. And I'm embarrassed that I was
- 1:11:11Speaker 21: in it. And I just want to say about that
- 1:11:14Speaker 21: is that I did not write it, direct it, produce it.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: I had nothing to do with it.
- 1:11:17Speaker 21: I was hired to act in it, and because my
- 1:11:19Speaker 21: name was up there, people think it was, oh, my movie. Well,
- 1:11:21Speaker 21: I just want to say to my fans, if there
- 1:11:24Speaker 21: are any.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: Out there, that.
- 1:11:27Speaker 21: I would like to personally apologize to each and every
- 1:11:29Speaker 21: one of you for me being in that movie. And
- 1:11:32Speaker 21: I mean, the people, now the people who worked with
- 1:11:34Speaker 21: me in the movie, the director, producer, the writer, they
- 1:11:36Speaker 21: were all very wonderful people.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: It just didn't come out right. The movie just did
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: not come out right.
- 1:11:41Speaker 21: And I want to apologize to all of you who
- 1:11:43Speaker 21: saw my name and you went there because you wanted
- 1:11:45Speaker 21: to see me in a movie and you were very disappointed.
- 1:11:47Speaker 21: And it's the truth of the matter is I am
- 1:11:48Speaker 21: right now working with my lawyer on a plan. I
- 1:11:51Speaker 21: would love to be able to personally give back the
- 1:11:55Speaker 21: money that all of you paid. For your admission price.
- 1:11:58Speaker 21: And I am right now working on a plan where
- 1:12:00Speaker 21: I can legally do that out of my pocket. Refund
- 1:12:03Speaker 21: everybody's admission price.
- 1:12:04Speaker 19: Well, make sure you have change for a 20.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: This is true. Wait, I didn't get it. No, it's
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: just a joke. Never mind.
- 1:12:14Speaker 19: It doesn't mean a thing. It's just my way. It's
- 1:12:16Speaker 19: just a little joke. Occasionally, I'll get in there.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: Yeah, but what does it mean? It means it may
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: be the.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:12:23Speaker 19: What it means is maybe the movie didn't do that
- 1:12:25Speaker 19: much business anyway.
- 1:12:26Speaker 9: It didn't.
- 1:12:27Speaker 8: Oh.
- 1:12:28Speaker 21: Oh, no, it didn't.
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: Hardly anybody saw it.
- 1:12:29Speaker 21: That's why I'm willing to give them the money back.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: Andy Kaufman, ladies and gentlemen. Good luck to you, Andy.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: Thank you for stopping by.
- 1:12:38Speaker 12: Headquarters fails to confirm check. Highest probability is that you
- 1:12:43Speaker 12: are criminals. I have signaled the police. They will retrieve
- 1:12:47Speaker 12: you on their 4 a.m.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Shift.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: Do not move until then.
- 1:12:53Speaker 24: While waiting, you may enjoy a brief musical interlude.
- 1:13:06Speaker 19: Still plenty of time to come and be served at
- 1:13:12Speaker 19: the refreshment center before showtime.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: Welcome to a night.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: Of total terror. That's Mickey Mouse's penis. I know, isn't
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: that terrible? They don't look to be afraid. They look
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: to be shocked. Here's vagina! It's like you see Miley
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: Cyrus' globular breast.
- 1:13:36Speaker 13: Night of the Living Podcast.
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: I found more syrup on my pants.
- 1:13:41Speaker 22: There's our adventure in fear.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: There was, however, a guy using.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: an experience in shock more shattering than your strangest.
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: Nightmare night of the living podcast.
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: Ass to mouth is hot Fantastic. Holy shit! That just happened.
- 1:14:02Speaker 8: What's that bad man doing to my donkey?
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: A night of total terror.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: I can't maintain this level of ridiculousness. They made a song.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: Night of the Living Podcast.
- 1:14:28Speaker 19: I'm going to do the show!
- 1:14:32Speaker 23: That's part of your problem, you know.
- 1:14:35Speaker 8: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: All of life's riddles.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Are answered in the movies. And now, on with the show.
- 1:15:04Speaker 20: All right, we're back and we've got feedback.
- 1:15:15Speaker 8: Feedback.
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: You're pretty excited.
- 1:15:20Speaker 24: I'm always jazzed when I get feedback.
- 1:15:34Speaker 10: Yep i wish we'd get more yeah people slack asses
- 1:15:39Speaker 10: just lightning bug and fozzie bear that's all we got
- 1:15:41Speaker 10: the whole bug and animal kingdom so we hear from
- 1:15:46Speaker 10: fozzie bear on several things that we have recently mentioned
- 1:15:51Speaker 10: recently mentioned you got it all out kind of I
- 1:15:56Speaker 10: got distracted midway through my sentence.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: Hey guys, it's Fozzie from Twitter and from the podcast podcast.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: I had to call in because there's so much on
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: your last episode that I feel really strongly about. First
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: of all, I think the movie you were thinking about
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: with one of the Olsen twins is this movie called Monstrous. Now,
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: I don't know which Olsen twin is in it, but
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: I know it is the ugly one. And if you
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: have not seen the trailer for Monstrous, you have to
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: go right now and find it. If a movie has
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: ever tried to be everything for everyone, it's this movie, Monstrous.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: It twists from like a... gossip girl type teenage movie
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: to a fairy tale to a horror movie to a
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: romantic comedy to it's everything you could ever want in
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: a movie in this trailer and it's gonna suck so
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: hard the second thing I want to say was Pontypool
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: I'd really like you to do an episode about Pontypool
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: now I know a lot of other shows already have
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: But it's one of those movies that everybody is going
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: to see differently, and there's a lot to talk about,
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: and I'd like to see your take on it. So
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: if you're still considering that, I definitely recommend going ahead
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: and doing it. And lastly, JTT. I was also a
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: big fan of JTT back in the day, and everybody's
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: wondered why he didn't. uh, get a bigger career, and
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: everybody said, well, you were saying because he's, you know,
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: he never got tall, well, Tom Cruise isn't that tall, um,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: but Tom Cruise had the, um, intelligence to hide his homosexuality, unfortunately,
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: and I think that's a problem, J.T.C. kind of came out,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: he did a couple gay themed movies, he had a, um,
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: He was right on the edge of coming out, and
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: I think he said publicly a couple times, it blew
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: up in his face, and then he kind of shrunk
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: back into the corner, which is really sad and really unfortunate,
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: because he's always been a talented actor, and we need
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: more out gay actors in Hollywood. I think he was
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: trying to make that move, and people just didn't catch on,
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: so that's why you don't see him around much anymore. Now,
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: that could be totally wrong. I could be wrong about that,
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: but I have my conspiracy theories, and I do remember
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: hearing that he was out several times, so who knows? Anyway,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: those are the things I want to talk about. One, two,
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: and three. All right, great. Great show, guys, and it's
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: always a pleasure talking to you. I'll talk to you soon.
- 1:18:04Speaker 8: Bye.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Awesome.
- 1:18:06Speaker 9: Fourth grade Marlena is crushed at that.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: Fourth grade Marlena.
- 1:18:10Speaker 10: Yeah, what's sad is I'm caught off guard because I
- 1:18:13Speaker 10: don't think I had any clue.
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: I mean, his feathered hair? Well, I mean, yeah, I mean,
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: they were all kind of goofy little kids. I mean,
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: that didn't necessarily.
- 1:18:23Speaker 8: I always thought the younger one on Home Improvement was gay.
- 1:18:27Speaker 9: Yeah, he did always seem gay.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: At the end, he was a goth. Yeah, he's just weird. Wait, wait,
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: who was a younger one? And he grew up and
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: got gangly ugly. He was goth for a while. He
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: was ugly when he got older, so he's too ugly.
- 1:18:38Speaker 10: To be gay.
- 1:18:39Speaker 22: I'm sorry.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: At least Jakey, too. Those are attractive people.
- 1:18:43Speaker 8: At least, obviously.
- 1:18:45Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't think I'd even heard that, so if
- 1:18:47Speaker 10: he came out, he didn't do it very well, but
- 1:18:49Speaker 10: maybe that's why.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: Just because nobody cared about JTT at that point.
- 1:18:52Speaker 8: It was after how my crew bed got kicked.
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: Yeah, completely kicked off the air. They would have done
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: a better job of coming out.
- 1:18:59Speaker 10: Yeah. Well, I was going to say, if anything, I mean,
- 1:19:02Speaker 10: I can almost understand, like, allegedly, if Tom Cruise is
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: of that nature, hey, that's cool.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: But I can see why he wouldn't come out. Because.
- 1:19:11Speaker 10: He still makes how many million dollars a year? Like
- 1:19:14Speaker 10: hundreds at this point?
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: Unfortunately. But, I mean, that would kill his career. Which
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: is fucked up that it would.
- 1:19:22Speaker 9: You have to appeal to manly men who want to
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: watch heterosexual movies with explosions and movies.
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: And then you also.
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: Have to appeal to women who want to fantasize about you.
- 1:19:35Speaker 10: I mean, it really does kill that part of Especially
- 1:19:38Speaker 10: the relationship and like the manly man part of it,
- 1:19:41Speaker 10: you can still do, but then guys feel weird.
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: They're like, I don't want to go see a movie
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: with that guy.
- 1:19:45Speaker 8: He's gay.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: He's going to want to think about sucking my dick.
- 1:19:47Speaker 10: It makes you gay for watching him, which that's questionable
- 1:19:50Speaker 10: on a lot of these action movies anyway.
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: There's a whole lot of sweaty shirtless guys. Man on man.
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: Which is why I.
- 1:19:56Speaker 9: Really respect actors who play gay roles.
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:19:59Speaker 9: A lot of times you get typecast as that.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: But they do it badly. Recently, we're getting better versions.
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: The last couple of years. But, like, look in, like,
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: the 80s and even into the early 90s. It was terrible.
- 1:20:09Speaker 10: Like, I was embarrassed for these guys who weren't even
- 1:20:12Speaker 10: gay but were playing gay.
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: And I'm like, they're doing it wrong.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Like, I'm like.
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: You're making yourself sound really gay in this episode.
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: I know you're not gay, Brian. You're like, I'm offended.
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: I am. You pushed me away.
- 1:20:26Speaker 10: I as a person can be offended regardless of whether
- 1:20:29Speaker 10: I'm gay or not. I'm not, but I don't really care.
- 1:20:32Speaker 10: I think they should do a good job... at playing
- 1:20:35Speaker 10: it and not playing i mean some.
- 1:20:37Speaker 11: Of them not just like comedically like over the top.
- 1:20:40Speaker 8: In your face.
- 1:20:41Speaker 10: It's all so fake it's like yeah and it we're
- 1:20:45Speaker 10: just kind of getting to the point where people will
- 1:20:47Speaker 10: play a gay character and that's not the only thing
- 1:20:50Speaker 10: that they are they're not there to be that they're
- 1:20:52Speaker 10: just a guy yeah they're a character and that factors
- 1:20:56Speaker 10: into it maybe which i've been It took a long
- 1:20:59Speaker 10: time to get to that. And as far as actors,
- 1:21:02Speaker 10: probably the most impressive thing I've seen happen in the last...
- 1:21:06Speaker 10: I don't know, my entire life involving, you know, people
- 1:21:08Speaker 10: coming out. Because, I mean, you get, like, those earlier ones,
- 1:21:12Speaker 10: you know, Nathan Lane comes out, there's a shocker. I mean,
- 1:21:16Speaker 10: and it really didn't change his career. He was already
- 1:21:18Speaker 10: kind of playing those roles.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: If you do Broadway, it doesn't really affect you at all. Well,
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: even then, I mean, he had movie roles, but he's
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: still kind of playing.
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: He always played gay.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Even when he wasn't playing gay, he was playing pretty close.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: It was, like, just sexually ambiguous. He was just sort
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: of there, but... And he had the red cage. Harvey Firestone.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: There's another one. There's a shocker when he came out.
- 1:21:41Speaker 10: The one that I was impressed with and I'm even
- 1:21:44Speaker 10: more impressed with the system at this point was Neil
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: Patrick Harris.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: Yeah i've been so amazed.
- 1:21:51Speaker 10: With the fact that do games well again the fact
- 1:21:54Speaker 10: that number one he came out number two it didn't
- 1:21:57Speaker 10: kill his career he's still being taken seriously or as
- 1:22:01Speaker 10: seriously as you can take because he's so good at
- 1:22:04Speaker 10: playing this womanizing jackass like he's just a good actor
- 1:22:07Speaker 10: and people still like that character and regardless of him
- 1:22:10Speaker 10: in his private life exactly they like the character and
- 1:22:13Speaker 10: i'm impressed with.
- 1:22:14Speaker 25: America is getting behind him because usually they're pretty close
- 1:22:18Speaker 25: minded and you know they'll turn on you in a
- 1:22:20Speaker 25: second so it's a testament to him that they stuck
- 1:22:24Speaker 25: behind him because he's that entertaining.
- 1:22:26Speaker 9: Really but in the last 15 years America in general
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: has just become more tolerant to homosexuality like with Roseanne
- 1:22:31Speaker 9: I don't remember I watched something and they were talking
- 1:22:34Speaker 9: about they had so many popular gay characters they did
- 1:22:37Speaker 9: they attempted to do like shows about gay people that
- 1:22:42Speaker 9: those were the main characters and And the networks decided
- 1:22:44Speaker 9: America wasn't ready. But then shortly after that, Will and
- 1:22:46Speaker 9: Grace came out.
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: And then it was just like this.
- 1:22:48Speaker 10: Which, again, is offensive.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: Yes, maybe. That was because it was annoying more than
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: anything else.
- 1:22:54Speaker 9: It wasn't that bad, but.
- 1:22:56Speaker 10: But the ones, well, the early ones on Roseanne, again,
- 1:22:59Speaker 10: Roseanne went steadily downhill the last two years or more.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: To the point where she was beating you over the
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: head with it.
- 1:23:05Speaker 10: But in the early days, when they first introduced Martin Mull,
- 1:23:07Speaker 10: and they really didn't even say he was gay, like,
- 1:23:09Speaker 10: the whole first season or so, he was just hanging around,
- 1:23:12Speaker 10: and he was Martin Mull, and he acted like he
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: always did. And then they finally brought in, like, that
- 1:23:17Speaker 10: Michael DeBars episode, and they go, oh, they finally kind
- 1:23:21Speaker 10: of figure out that he's gay.
- 1:23:22Speaker 8: Mm-hmm.
- 1:23:22Speaker 10: But even after that, he still played the same character.
- 1:23:25Speaker 10: He wasn't suddenly a big, flamboyant, annoying character. He was
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: still just the same character he'd always been. And even
- 1:23:32Speaker 10: when they made, what's her name, Sarah Bernhardt. She's just
- 1:23:35Speaker 10: annoying regardless.
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: Sandra Bernhardt, yeah. Yeah, she's scary regardless.
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: And then everybody on the show just became gay. And
- 1:23:41Speaker 9: then all the people who weren't gay on the show
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: were actually gay in real life.
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: Leave Sarah Gilbert alone. I like her. I do too.
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: But yeah, I don't know, the whole Doogie thing, you know,
- 1:23:51Speaker 10: for him to turn around, and he was the same thing,
- 1:23:53Speaker 10: and I was thinking that's a pretty good analogy for JTT.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: He grew up on a sitcom, he was a huge
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: star at the.
- 1:23:59Speaker 10: Time, had a big lull in his career, and somehow
- 1:24:03Speaker 10: Neil Patrick Harris turned it around and didn't let the
- 1:24:05Speaker 10: fact that he was gay totally derail it.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: JTT didn't quite pull that off, if in fact that's it.
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: I guess it is, I don't know. What movie was.
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: Neil Patrick Harris was in a movie.
- 1:24:17Speaker 8: Like Helm Kimmerer?
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: Yeah. When he was like... No longer ago. He hadn't
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: done anything... Starship Troopers. Starship Troopers was sort of the
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: beginning of his comeback.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:27Speaker 9: Was he a Braver? No.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Not that I know of.
- 1:24:30Speaker 9: I'm obsessed with Braveheart.
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: Yeah, you kind of are. It's the second time I've
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: mentioned it. You're lucky to watch that. It's been a while.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:24:36Speaker 10: So, yeah, I just thought that for me was actually, like,
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: the most impressive thing I've seen.
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: And I'm still in shock that this country was that open-minded. Like,
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: it's impressive, really. Because we're not. Because we're not. Because
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: most people I know are jackasses. Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:52Speaker 8: Can't hate him.
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: Well, I'm still surprised, though.
- 1:24:55Speaker 8: I know some burly rednecks who still won't hate him.
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: Because he's awesome. Because he's awesome.
- 1:25:00Speaker 10: He's entertaining regardless of what he comes out with. He
- 1:25:03Speaker 10: could say he's stabbing puppies in the head, and I'd
- 1:25:05Speaker 10: be like, but he's doogie.
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: He's doogie. You love that guy. Come on, now. Damn you,
- 1:25:09Speaker 4: Michael Vick. So, yeah.
- 1:25:12Speaker 10: And then the Olsen movie, we're going to have to
- 1:25:14Speaker 10: track that down, because it sounds awesomely horrible, and that
- 1:25:18Speaker 10: might as well be our tagline.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: We'll try something. Awesomely horrible.
- 1:25:23Speaker 10: And Haunty Pool, if you guys are up for it, yeah,
- 1:25:25Speaker 10: we'll work it into the upcoming schedule here, because, yeah,
- 1:25:29Speaker 10: I think it's.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: Pretty cool, and it would be an interesting show, I'd say.
- 1:25:33Speaker 9: Yeah, I do really, really, really want to see that.
- 1:25:35Speaker 10: And, as I said, we have one within the crew now.
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: We have a copy sitting at their house, so... We
- 1:25:42Speaker 10: can watch it in the near future. So once again,
- 1:25:46Speaker 10: thank you to Fozzie Bear and Lightning Bug earlier. So
- 1:25:49Speaker 10: keep the calls and emails coming in.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: If you have the balls.
- 1:25:54Speaker 22: Dude, he called you out.
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: Or the ovaries. We have a lot of female listeners, actually.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: Way to speak up for the ovaries. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: We got a lot of female listeners.
- 1:26:06Speaker 10: Seriously.
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: You don't have the ovaries.
- 1:26:07Speaker 9: Oh, sorry.
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: So anyway, yeah. So give us some feedback. Don't be shy.
- 1:26:18Speaker 8: Just let your feelings rule.
- 1:26:22Speaker 13: Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you. So

- 1:26:47Speaker 17: I watch that movie once a week.
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: It's pretty much on once a week now, which is good.
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: But I haven't seen the cut version with the octopus battle.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: I still have not seen it.
- 1:26:58Speaker 10: There's cut footage where at the pirate ship there's an octopus, apparently.
- 1:27:02Speaker 10: The elusive director's cut that all children have been dreaming
- 1:27:05Speaker 10: of for 30 years.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: There's also that fight scene in the convenience store. I
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: don't even know about that. What's his name?
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Junk?
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: No. I suggest that from every movie. The dad that
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: owns the... Data? Chet. Chet's dad.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Chet.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: I knew I needed that. It's not actually his name.
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: It's not actually his name.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: Chet.
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: Irish kid.
- 1:27:30Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: Oh, she's somebody different. It's a douche kid. It's a
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: douche kid. It's a douche kid.
- 1:27:40Speaker 8: It's a douche kid in a while.
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: Oh, Lord, help the brand.
- 1:27:45Speaker 8: Well, the pirate's name is one-eyed, really.
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: Just saying. That's good, too.
- 1:27:50Speaker 9: Why aren't there more people in the world that only have, like,
- 1:27:54Speaker 9: one eye?
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: I mean, you hear about it. No, seriously. You hear
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: about it all the time.
- 1:28:04Speaker 10: I give up.
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: Maybe I shouldn't have been drinking beer all day.
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: I don't think so. Holy shit. Probably a lot of reasons.
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: Just name a few.
- 1:28:13Speaker 9: Wow.
- 1:28:13Speaker 10: Hey, let's not.
- 1:28:18Speaker 9: Go to convenience stores and pick up beer in.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: Between drinks anymore i just went to get a sandwich
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: i don't know what the hell is wrong with you people.
- 1:28:28Speaker 10: All right as far as updates uh if you haven't
- 1:28:31Speaker 10: heard uh we will be appearing live at the fright night.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: Film fest in louisville kentucky will we yes we will
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: what are the dates on this i'm the last person
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: to know this. You don't pay attention. You are out
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: of the loop. Out of the loop? You missed the meeting.
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: We had a huge meeting earlier. What a joke.
- 1:28:46Speaker 9: There was a newsletter and everything?
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: Yeah. I missed it. I can't believe you didn't read
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: through yours.
- 1:28:51Speaker 8: I even got a copy.
- 1:28:53Speaker 10: See?
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: You're still in the trial period. You know I wouldn't
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: have read it anyway.
- 1:28:59Speaker 9: I would have read it anyway if you'd sent it
- 1:29:01Speaker 9: to me.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:29:03Speaker 10: It is July 30th through August 1st, and yeah, we're
- 1:29:06Speaker 10: going to have a table, we're going to set up shop, and.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Do you know who's going to be there?
- 1:29:10Speaker 11: Are they still going to be there, or is it
- 1:29:13Speaker 11: like they were going to be there?
- 1:29:15Speaker 10: No, as far as I know, I'm assuming, unless some
- 1:29:18Speaker 10: sort of horrendous occurrence happens between now and then, we've
- 1:29:22Speaker 10: brought them up many times in this episode. Roger Corman
- 1:29:25Speaker 10: is going to be there.
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: The man himself. That's fucking amazing. That would be insane. So, yeah,
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: I'm getting in line now.
- 1:29:33Speaker 10: He's signing to Death Race 2000 or something.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: The dude that grew up on your movies. Who hasn't?
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: Anything you produced is awesome. Okay, most of it. Shit
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: means all. I still like it. I love you.
- 1:29:49Speaker 13: You heard it, Roger.
- 1:29:51Speaker 10: Okay, so go to FrightNightFilmFest.com and find out more about
- 1:29:55Speaker 10: how you too can join us at the Film Fest
- 1:29:58Speaker 10: and hang out and, you know, we're that cool.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: We're so cool.
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: See us in person. Feel us. Smell us. You can
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: do that with Roger. Bring us cupcakes. I'm clean. Yeah,
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: we love brownies.
- 1:30:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: Completely wrapped. Thank you.
- 1:30:15Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:30:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: I don't know if I trust him. We check for reservoirs.
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: Come on.
- 1:30:18Speaker 10: Because I bring those kind of gifts to other people,
- 1:30:21Speaker 10: so I know not to trust people like me.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: Just wraps like hostess cakes.
- 1:30:26Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:30:26Speaker 10: I don't trust anything that's not hermetically sealed and thank you. Okay, kids,
- 1:30:31Speaker 10: get out your decoder pins.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: There's the fanfare I'm looking for. It's time for the
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: Movie Meltdown Secret Circle reveal of the next two features,
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: one of which you will be involved in.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: Or somebody will. Probably not you, because you're a slacker, but... Yeah, exactly.
- 1:30:46Speaker 10: Check your.
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: Next week's feature is already set. This is listener supported.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: It's going to be awesome. Yes. I'm pretty sure you
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: guys like it. If not, screw you. We're watching The
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: Dark Crystal. Next to Labyrinth. I don't know. I think
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: you're out of whack. I'd put Dark Crystal alive. I
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: don't know. Jennifer Connelly. Bowie's crotch.
- 1:31:16Speaker 10: She was my first love. Bowie's package for the girls.
- 1:31:20Speaker 10: His codpiece actually has a line in the cast.
- 1:31:23Speaker 22: Really?
- 1:31:23Speaker 8: It's true.
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: The babe with the power. Come on. Great song. I know.
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: I had this exact discussion with Misty earlier today. Nice.
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: She herself was saying.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: That, yeah.
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: Well, hopefully she'll be excited.
- 1:31:39Speaker 10: She said that was the best era of David Bowie
- 1:31:41Speaker 10: and I was questioning the hair.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: Oh, that's different. I was questioning the hair. It was awesome.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: She was all for the groin area. I was going
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: more Ziggy Stardust.
- 1:31:49Speaker 10: Yeah see i thought he came into his own like
- 1:31:53Speaker 10: as an well as an old man he actually got
- 1:31:54Speaker 10: kind of cooler like he was sort of awkward in
- 1:31:57Speaker 10: the 70s but like i think he's in the 90s.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: He got really cool i don't know i think he
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: worked better as a.
- 1:32:03Speaker 10: Super hot babe yeah what are you gonna do yeah
- 1:32:06Speaker 10: never mind i was gonna say other things but i won't.
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: All right. Next week, Dark Crystal. Dark Crystal. The week
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: after that. Prepare yourself. Will be. The following week. Up
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: to you. Yeah, kind of.
- 1:32:19Speaker 10: We decided, you know, with the passing of our super
- 1:32:22Speaker 10: awesome favorite dude, Dennis Hopper.
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: Which sucks.
- 1:32:26Speaker 10: But we were like, well, we should watch a Dennis
- 1:32:28Speaker 10: Hopper movie. I mean, just, you know, in a way to,
- 1:32:31Speaker 10: you know, send him off in style. I'm pretty sure
- 1:32:34Speaker 10: he'd be thrilled by us.
- 1:32:35Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:32:36Speaker 10: I'm sure he's listening to it. I've seen the cosmos
- 1:32:38Speaker 10: right now. He's like, finally, I've got my iPod in heaven.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Listen to podcasts. Jesus Christ. Poor bastard. They already
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: have the iPad up there. I'm sure they do.
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: They have iPad with USB hookups in there.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: Oh, definitely. The Wi-Fi in heaven is awesome. And the
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: latest battery.
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: Oh, it's strong.
- 1:32:55Speaker 10: So, yeah, the following week, we were trying to pick.
- 1:32:58Speaker 10: I mean, I initially was just like.
- 1:32:59Speaker 4: Would it be Easy Rider? Well, I was like.
- 1:33:02Speaker 10: okay our our usual mode of thinking is all right
- 1:33:05Speaker 10: space truckers let's go so yeah that was my thing
- 1:33:09Speaker 10: but i was like well you know he did a
- 1:33:10Speaker 10: lot of legitimately good movies like maybe we should watch
- 1:33:13Speaker 10: easy rider maybe we should watch yeah that may be
- 1:33:16Speaker 10: too much but.
- 1:33:17Speaker 9: Can i just say the only one that's not up
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: for um voting is the crow.
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: For Dude, I haven't seen it.
- 1:33:25Speaker 8: I haven't seen it.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: I haven't watched that. I'll watch it. It has Tara Reid.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: I'll watch it. I have not seen it. It has
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: Tara Reid.
- 1:33:31Speaker 11: She's a dumb bitch, and I'd love to watch her
- 1:33:32Speaker 11: be a dumb bitch any time of the day.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: Yeah, in that movie, she is a dumb bitch.
- 1:33:35Speaker 8: I'd watch her get killed.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Yeah, she'd die. Spoiler alert. Even Angel kind of sucks
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: in that movie.
- 1:33:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: And I like David Borealis in certain... Boreanaz.
- 1:33:44Speaker 10: Boreanaz.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: Boreanaz.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: He's Angel. Like the Aurora Boreanaz? He's going to be
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: Angel forever. Give it up. Yeah, Angel. So, Angel Bones
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: is in that movie, and he sucks in that movie.
- 1:33:53Speaker 10: Like, the only thing worth watching is Dennis Hopper, because
- 1:33:56Speaker 10: he does what he always does.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: Blue Velvet? Fucking awesome. So, yeah, Blue Velvet was another, like,
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: serious one that, like, we.
- 1:34:03Speaker 10: We've been talking about that one in recent weeks.
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: I don't know if we should put a cap on it.
- 1:34:09Speaker 11: I think we should just see what the Gambit has run.
- 1:34:13Speaker 10: He's got like 100,000 movies. It's a huge amount of
- 1:34:17Speaker 10: stuff that you can go back on. I don't know
- 1:34:19Speaker 10: if we want to pick something more special. well i'm
- 1:34:22Speaker 10: just like that i mean if you go back a
- 1:34:23Speaker 10: long time ago he's sort of a lot of side
- 1:34:25Speaker 10: characters so i don't know if we want to go
- 1:34:26Speaker 10: with more of a central character but you know i
- 1:34:30Speaker 10: mean there could be all kinds of random stuff oh
- 1:34:35Speaker 10: my god oh what's the flashback wasn't that the one
- 1:34:39Speaker 10: with keifer yes oh.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: My god flashback.
- 1:34:42Speaker 10: That's terrible and mcjagger i would sell terrible no that's
- 1:34:47Speaker 10: Free Jack Bauer.
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: Free Jack. Free Jack. Yes, Free Jack. He's not in
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: Free Jack. He's in Flashback.
- 1:34:53Speaker 8: We should be.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: We should watch Free Jack. That's entirely different. That's when
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: Emilio Estes dies, which I'm surprised hasn't already happened. Yeah, really. So, yeah,
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: it's up to you. I'm going to throw it out
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: there on the.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: No, Twitter's fine. Just what you do on Twitter. Tweet
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: it up, yo.
- 1:35:16Speaker 11: It's so gay. You're gay if you ever say that.
- 1:35:19Speaker 11: Not like, hey, I'm cool gay. You're just like, get
- 1:35:21Speaker 11: shot in the face.
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: You're like fourth grade gay.
- 1:35:23Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: You're totally gay. God, you're totally gay.
- 1:35:26Speaker 8: Gay wad.
- 1:35:26Speaker 17: Exactly.
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: Gay wad, not flamboyant.
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: Hey.
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: Because we decided that's cool.
- 1:35:32Speaker 12: God.
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: But, yeah. Anyway, Dennis Hopper, what do you want us
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: to do?
- 1:35:37Speaker 10: So, The other one I was going to say, aside
- 1:35:39Speaker 10: from the Twitter, I'm actually sort of actively trying to
- 1:35:43Speaker 10: use our Facebook page for the show. So I'm probably
- 1:35:46Speaker 10: going to be putting a good amount of stuff out
- 1:35:48Speaker 10: there aside from the voting, which will be going on
- 1:35:50Speaker 10: there too.
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: But yeah. That's up to you guys. Well, I mean,
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: if you're not on there, because for a while I
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: wasn't paying that much attention to it. So I don't
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: know how many people. I don't think I'm on there.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: That listened to it even added that.
- 1:36:02Speaker 10: So, yeah, if you actually care and are a Facebook
- 1:36:05Speaker 10: kind of a dork, which 99% of the population is
- 1:36:08Speaker 10: at this point, yeah, add us to your whole little
- 1:36:10Speaker 10: group of friends or whatever the hell it is. I'm
- 1:36:13Speaker 10: actually putting stuff out there. I'm putting, like, when we're
- 1:36:16Speaker 10: looking for feedback, I'm sending it out that way.
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: How are we not getting more hits, Brian? I don't
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: understand this. Because people are slackers. God, they are. I'm
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: just calling you guys out. I mean, come on. So, yeah,
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: that's one.
- 1:36:29Speaker 10: I'm probably just going to take it from those three. Because,
- 1:36:32Speaker 10: I mean, it's going to take a while for this
- 1:36:33Speaker 10: to make its way out. But, I mean, if you're
- 1:36:35Speaker 10: hearing this, you've got about another week. So get to
- 1:36:37Speaker 10: work and send.
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: Us an email. Or you can definitely Facebook. Whatever. I'm
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: probably going to check Twitter so you know that's pretty much.
- 1:36:45Speaker 10: It I'm just going to be tallying up the votes
- 1:36:46Speaker 10: so have you had Facebook yeah you know the thinner
- 1:36:50Speaker 10: part of Facebook yeah that's Twitter so yeah.
- 1:36:53Speaker 8: You just get to tell people what you're doing all
- 1:36:54Speaker 8: the time.
- 1:36:55Speaker 10: Yeah it's the exact same thing who would care is
- 1:36:57Speaker 10: Facebook god it's all retarded the.
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: Internet is awesome and retarded.
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: People care about what Isaris is doing every second.
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: Of the week which it makes me cry she gets
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: a bullet in the head it.
- 1:37:07Speaker 10: Makes me cry that people care about such senseless things
- 1:37:12Speaker 10: They don't care about space truckers.
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: I'm better now. Vote for space truckers.
- 1:37:18Speaker 10: All right. So I think we're going to go out
- 1:37:20Speaker 10: with a little robot love. So that's a good way
- 1:37:23Speaker 10: to wrap it up, I'd say. Anything else we want
- 1:37:27Speaker 10: to pass along?
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: All right. We will get the hell out of here.
- 1:37:31Speaker 10: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week.
- 1:37:33Speaker 10: Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:37:36Speaker 9: Thanks, guys.
- 1:37:36Speaker 20: Bye.
- 1:37:37Speaker 10: Bye.
- 1:37:38Speaker 9: Muchas gracias.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: Don't forget to buy extra power cells. Power cells. The
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: Wombatik Sun Duck Shine.
- 1:39:10Speaker 6: I am the deluxe model crime buster. There is nothing,
- 1:39:15Speaker 6: nothing that can stop me.
