Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: What if Brandon Iyuk is the same one and the rest of us are crazy.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Adam Shefter says the teams of he thinks tried to reach out to Brandon Iyuk and they've had a hard time getting a hold of them.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the club population 49ers.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of talk to Brandon Iyuk's lost his mind.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he has even his wide receiver coach TJ Hushman Zada or at least he's been repeatedly introduced as his receiver coach.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if he's still with him on a regular basis, but he's been publicly critical very regularly if Iyuk going back to last year.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: So whether they're still together or not, one of you can tell me in the comments.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: I just read his poll quotes.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he's clarified them.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure someone's asking him.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: But what's really hard is for people to conceive.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: of doing what I used to done, giving a $30 million in guaranteed money.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's really hard for those of us who have never made $30 million to conceive.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's even harder for the guys who have made $30 million.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: The people who know how far $30 million can go, to understand it.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, once you live that lifestyle, you don't want to give it up.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to go back specifically.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about private planes, for example.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Why on earth is Mike Vrableflang commercial?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: I googled it today and there's no clear report but the guesses are that he's making $15 million a year.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: There is no way he's making $15 million a year.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: If he were making $15 million a year, he would not have been flying commercial last week of all weeks, that's insane.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: That photo has to be old.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: There's no chance.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Sean Payton,
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: proven hot commodity.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's making like 18.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: You want to tell me variables way.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Those they can be right, but back to I.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: You may be he has it figured out.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: What if enough is enough and he's made enough to make decisions for joy and not to money make decisions for money.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: What if he's 30 million dollars?
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'd give up 30 million dollars to not play for the 40 matters.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: maybe he wouldn't give it up.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: 50, maybe he wouldn't give up 100.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Surely at some point, there's a number that would make him show up.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: The 30 million ain't it.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe just can't look at Kyle anymore.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't want to wear the red shorts or the black shorts anymore.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: And there's only one way to force your way out if you're in a contract.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the nuclear option.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: Don't pick up the phone.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Jimmy Garoppolo was famously unreachable, but also, you know, under contract, and if it was just the 49ers that couldn't reach IU, maybe it wouldn't matter as much, but it's other teams, and this is not a new tactic, not being reachable is probably why he's not on the Patriots, and it's probably why he's not on the Browns.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: there is no chance that anybody is trading for a uke without the pest inspection at this point and he knows it and it's his only flex and he's using it and we always ask the question of people like, hey, when's enough enough?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: When's enough money enough money to stop chasing the next buck?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we have our uke's answer.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: That it's this is enough.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: Is it dumb, maybe?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not necessarily reckless if it's a conscious choice.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he has set up.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: his finances in such a way that guarantee him that he can continue to live the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed even if he gives up 30 million dollars because he's thinking I got more money on this contract I'm 28.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna come back and ball and in the end I'll have more than I need now lifetime.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: The dumpart may not be given up the money.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Now the dumpart might be thinking the next contract can be big too
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: because this is not the 2024 Washington Commanders that he's allegedly trying to get to.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: These are the 26 commanders, right?
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: He thought that I didn't get him the ball enough, and Kyle and Brock didn't get him the ball enough, especially in the Super Bowl.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so he wants to go play for David Blau, 30 year old, David Blau.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: former hard knock star, David Blau, David Blau might be really good.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I, he might be really good.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: I am very open of that possibility.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: But he ain't Kyle Shanning in.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: There's no chance.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: Older Jane Daniels is a star and his buddy.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, 2024, that was an easy argument.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Daniels was the offensive rookie of the year.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: The commanders made the NFC title game.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: They were top 10 and points in yards.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, fellow part, now Daniels was hurt.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: But part of being a quarterback is availability.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: You only played seven.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the first quarterback to miss a bunch of games.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: So it's far too early to say he's a hurt guy.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's still very open.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think the league is still very open to the possibility.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's just a really good quarterback.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: But last year, it didn't go well.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And it was not just Jayden this hurt because they ever did the offensive coordinator.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Cliff Kingsbury wanted to do his thing.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: His way.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's here, right guys?
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: They're a type.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Dan Quinn wanted to do it his way, slow it down, so they broke up.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, fine, that's like you got a better option.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Go to the better option and they think David blouse a better option.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And if I used to go build something with his buddy and believes in that actually respect that.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Especially because it's a big year for Jane Daniels, you're three.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: You want us to help his guy get it right.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: The guy that'll, because their boys, I guess never throw it to anybody else.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: I promise Brandon, I won't throw it to Terry McLaren, a jacorey crosskey merit on 3rd and 4.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: With the game tied, the 35 yard line, with a minute and 59 seconds left, and the Super Bowl,
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: He won't do that.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: He'll throw it out of you if I use open as the inside receiver to the left.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Against coverage that shockingly was not press.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: Very off against pressure should have been the guy right in the field of view of the quarterback.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And just like in that spot, I'll throw it at the ball.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: If that spot ever arises, but what are the odds of that spot ever arise in the Super Bowl for Washington?
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: You'd have to say well.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Now, a while ago, I said the Niners would hold on to him as long as possible.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: This got misconstrued as I talked to the Niners and the Niners are saying they're holding out for a seven.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: No, I talked to people around the league who said, maybe they had a seventh.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they didn't in this last draft.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe they'll get one in the twenty-seven draft, but maybe not.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's unlikely at this pace.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the power of forcing I used to do anything is gone.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: They've called his bluff, he didn't show up.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: Anyone willing to give up 30 million as proof in that, you know.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: But then I just can hold it hold and people are talking like it's just spite and don't ignore the human urge to spite.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: I really respect the human urge to spite.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's a very powerful urge.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of things have been accomplished because of spite.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: And also, not bot, but at all.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: So we've also seen the track record with Jimmy Garoppolo.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: They just hold and hold and hold and so what if you think it's weird and so what if the team is practicing over here and Jimmy's over here throwing behind the bleachers, he still could become your quarterback.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: They hold until they can't hold anymore.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's business.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I saw yesterday the day before maybe Grant Cohen posted on X, a video of Seinfeld, which for those of you under a certain age, do you know what that is?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a famous scene.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great scene.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: George has had a blow up, because Stan's in that kitle at work.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: And him and Jerry, Jerry says, Jerry, Jerry just go back.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Show up as if nothing happened.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm an emotional man, right?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's very funny.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like really funny.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: It made me laugh.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: And the irony is that the baggage
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: is what's holding this thing back.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if you had a baggage free relationship between the 49ers and brand-out you, even though they've got my Kevin's, even though they've got Christian Kirk, even though they've got Ricky Pierce all, even though they use the second round pick on a receiver this year, and have multiple young receivers that are supposed to be contributors at some point.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: All of that understood.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: If I use suddenly, and then I suddenly reconciled, he'd probably be their best receiver right away.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they got kiddo, but kiddo's hurt.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And they got McAfre.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: He catches a lot of balls.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be a good problem to have.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: If he shows up, he helps them get value for him.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: Unless he shows up, looks great.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: But then, you know, refuses to pick up anybody's calls.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what's stopping him from showing up.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's the second he starts showing up.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: His value increases.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: And he doesn't want his value to increase.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: He wants his value to stay at the very bottom because his contracts already established.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: He just wants to go play one place.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't want the Browns calling.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't want the Patriots calling.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't want the Eagles calling.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: There's not anybody calling.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Stop calling.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Just let me go play for the commanders.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: That has not been set.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, Trent Williams once said the exact opposite.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: But that's why it doesn't want to come back.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to be gone.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: 49ers run the verge of trading in August of 24, right, almost three years ago now.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: And they decided just before the regular season, bring them back, pay them, four years, 120 mil, and I was in favor of bringing them back.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: I was in favor of bringing them back.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't fair of extending them.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: And then when it was like a trade situation, I was then in favor of still signing him and bringing him back.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly now, if they could have gotten a second-round pick
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: That'd be great.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Picks are great in theory.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: But that is revisionist history, right?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: In the case of a trade of I. Yook, it takes three to tango.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Two teams and Brandon getting a SIG on his beat.
