Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey friends, it's time for another encore presentation of Girls
- 0:03Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark. This time we are revisiting our reviews of
- 0:06Speaker 1: the Holidays series. These were originally recorded in December twenty
- 0:10Speaker 1: twenty four, so you might hear a reference here and
- 0:12Speaker 1: there to something around the holiday season. But in honor
- 0:16Speaker 1: of the fact that Hallmark is re airing these episodes
- 0:20Speaker 1: on the Hallmark Channel for the first time, we wanted
- 0:22Speaker 1: to re share our reviews along with those drops, so
- 0:26Speaker 1: you can listen along as you're watching enjoy the show.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:54Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:57Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today
- 1:00Speaker 1: we were discussing Holidays episode five, the Lewin Family, and
- 1:03Speaker 1: we are recording live from Kansas City where we are
- 1:06Speaker 1: looking out over the Homewark Christmas Experience Square. It's quite
- 1:10Speaker 1: quite the setting for recording podcast episode. It sure is
- 1:14Speaker 1: that countdown to Christmas number out there five days until Christmas,
- 1:19Speaker 1: that's when we're recording this, giving me lots of anxiety. Well,
- 1:23Speaker 1: the good news is by the tin this episode airs,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'll be over. Thank goodness. We're going to jump right
- 1:30Speaker 1: into some news and notes for holidays, starting with Dennis
- 1:34Speaker 1: Haysbert plays Jennifer's dad, Robert. Dennis has one hundred forty
- 1:38Speaker 1: seven acting credits and is probably best known for playing
- 1:41Speaker 1: President David Palmer on the series twenty four, as well
- 1:44Speaker 1: as his longtime role as Jonas Blaine on the series
- 1:46Speaker 1: of The Unit. He's also a two thousand and three
- 1:48Speaker 1: Golden Globe nominee for his role on The Unit. Also,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I would like to point out that leaving off his
- 1:54Speaker 1: iconic role as Jobu on Major League is Criminal. You know,
- 2:00Speaker 1: does that have Charlie Sheen in it? Yeah? I don't
- 2:03Speaker 1: think I've ever seen that movie. It is not a
- 2:05Speaker 1: movie that could get made today. Oh really super offensive. Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: In fact, the team gets bought by a woman who
- 2:12Speaker 1: like wants I think she's like maybe trying to get
- 2:15Speaker 1: revenge on her ex Hustan. I forget the deal, but
- 2:17Speaker 1: she wants the team to lose, and that was the
- 2:20Speaker 1: premise of Ted Lassois. Yeah. I know, as I said that,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I don't remember the reason why she wants the team
- 2:25Speaker 1: to lose, but she wants them to lose. She wants
- 2:26Speaker 1: to sell them. I don't remember. The whole deal is
- 2:28Speaker 1: she wants them to lose. They're terrible, and they're like,
- 2:30Speaker 1: we're gonna show her. We're gonna win. And in the show,
- 2:34Speaker 1: the coach has this reward system for the guys. Every
- 2:37Speaker 1: time they win a game. They have a cardboard cutout
- 2:39Speaker 1: of the owner of the team, who's a very attractive woman,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and they like peel off piece of her clothing every
- 2:45Speaker 1: time they win a game. That is not a movie
- 2:47Speaker 1: that could get made. In twenty twenty four, Wow Wow.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Loretta Devine plays Jennifer's mom. Linda Loretta is a Primetime
- 2:57Speaker 1: Emmy Award winning actress for her guest role as Adele
- 3:01Speaker 1: Weber in Gray's Anatomy. She has one hundred and eighty
- 3:05Speaker 1: six acting credits and also originated the role of Laurel
- 3:09Speaker 1: in the Broadway stage production of Dreamgirls. Robin Fanfair plays
- 3:13Speaker 1: daughter Jennifer Lewin. Robin has forty seven acting credits and
- 3:16Speaker 1: has previously appeared on the network in one episode of
- 3:19Speaker 1: The Good Witch from twenty eighteen. Jeff Joseph plays husband Mike.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Jeff is a nineteen ninety Emmy nominee for Outstanding Writing
- 3:30Speaker 1: in a variety or music program for a show called
- 3:32Speaker 1: in Living Color. That show was very popular when I
- 3:35Speaker 1: was in high school. So reading that feels hard. As
- 3:39Speaker 1: did you want to be a fly Girl? Of course, yes,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Jennifer Lopez, of course. As for acting, he has fifty
- 3:47Speaker 1: one acting credits, which include roles in A Million Little Things,
- 3:51Speaker 1: Big Sky, and several Hallmark projects like Aurora Tea Garden,
- 3:54Speaker 1: Mysteries Reunited and It Feels So Deadly a Routie. Guarded
- 3:59Speaker 1: Mysteries does have the punniest title. They sure do. So
- 4:02Speaker 1: Darius Blaine play's boyfriend Evan. We recently saw So Darius
- 4:05Speaker 1: in Christmas on Call. He's also known for his work
- 4:07Speaker 1: on the ABC show Will Trent, as well as the
- 4:11Speaker 1: theatrical movies Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle and the sequel
- 4:14Speaker 1: Jumanji The Next Level, Big Hits. In My Household, Lenox
- 4:18Speaker 1: Leecock plays son Max. Lennox is the son of Vivleecock
- 4:22Speaker 1: from One Calls the Heart. Lenox has seven acting credits
- 4:25Speaker 1: and has been seen in Homemark projects like Crime Time,
- 4:28Speaker 1: free Fall, and A Magical Christmas Village. So we're gonna
- 4:31Speaker 1: jump right into the antics of the Lewin family. And
- 4:34Speaker 1: if you remember from the first episode, Mom Grandma Linda
- 4:40Speaker 1: makes a comment to her daughter Jennifer, you might want
- 4:42Speaker 1: to put Evan and I in a room far away
- 4:46Speaker 1: in case we make noise, and we do open hearing
- 4:50Speaker 1: Linda and Evan Giglin through the walls. They're having some fun.
- 4:54Speaker 1: They're having some fun. When it turns out they are
- 4:56Speaker 1: having a pillow fight. It's contrasted with dad Robert struggling
- 5:00Speaker 1: to get out of bed. He's feeling those knees, He's
- 5:03Speaker 1: in some pain, and damn, that's relatable, super relatable. The
- 5:07Speaker 1: pillow fight not so much. Yeah, that's not a moment
- 5:10Speaker 1: that that feels like something I ever need to do.
- 5:12Speaker 1: And maybe if I had a second husband, it might
- 5:14Speaker 1: be if you were reliving, yeah, recapturing your youth. If
- 5:17Speaker 1: I was trying to feel younger because I had a
- 5:20Speaker 1: hot young thing, if you are unconsciously trying to make
- 5:24Speaker 1: your ex husband jealous, perhaps as your fun and playful relationship.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Robert's having a moment here in the mirror. To me,
- 5:31Speaker 1: it felt like he was really feeling his age, definitely
- 5:35Speaker 1: rubbing his gray beard. I mean, I feel that, So
- 5:39Speaker 1: I do have to say that in the pillow fight,
- 5:41Speaker 1: the actors really go for it. They'd like smash each
- 5:43Speaker 1: other straight up in the face with those pillows. He's
- 5:47Speaker 1: out the words smashed, and all I thought was dirty. Okay, sorry,
- 5:50Speaker 1: all right. So Evan and Robert do run into each
- 5:52Speaker 1: other in the home Greatest scene. Well, I do want
- 5:57Speaker 1: to say that this scene is echoed later in the
- 6:00Speaker 1: series with two different actors from this episode. Episode is Boxers.
- 6:05Speaker 1: My favorite thing is Sidarius is like, no, no, you go,
- 6:08Speaker 1: I know how it is when you're getting old. Yeah,
- 6:11Speaker 1: that's so mean, you're incontinent. Yeah, it comes for everyone
- 6:15Speaker 1: for Darius. Yeah, you just wait your turn, you think forever.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I just love the scene because you're playing like that
- 6:20Speaker 1: western music. That's not how it sounds, but there, there
- 6:25Speaker 1: it is. That's what it sounds like. Squaring off in
- 6:28Speaker 1: the hallway of like who gets used the bathroom first?
- 6:30Speaker 1: It was. It was quite clever and I enjoyed it
- 6:34Speaker 1: quite a bit. We fast forward to the kitchen. There's
- 6:36Speaker 1: some pumpkin gingerbread pancake making happening. Mike is trying to
- 6:41Speaker 1: find himself again. So I didn't realize that Mike was
- 6:45Speaker 1: out of work. Uh, huh. Until this happen. I don't
- 6:48Speaker 1: remember them covering that in episode one. Well, episode one
- 6:51Speaker 1: was chaotic, so it would be easy to miss some
- 6:53Speaker 1: of those details. I didn't really remember that either. But yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 1: he's out of work, he's in between jobs, and this
- 6:59Speaker 1: entire episode will be him really kind of struggling to
- 7:01Speaker 1: find his place. And right now he's trying to be like,
- 7:04Speaker 1: you know, a culinary master. While he's doing that, Jennifer's
- 7:07Speaker 1: really struggling with what's going on with her parents, like
- 7:10Speaker 1: what is happening? She can't believe that her mom's boyfriend
- 7:13Speaker 1: is so young, and they're making tons of jokes about
- 7:16Speaker 1: it tons. I enjoyed that quite a bit. In a
- 7:20Speaker 1: contrast to poor Robert's ake and knees, Linda and Evan
- 7:22Speaker 1: are returning from their morning yoga class, Robert is clashing
- 7:27Speaker 1: with Mike, with his daughter's husband. Robert has a lot
- 7:31Speaker 1: of character growth in this episode, but at the beginning
- 7:35Speaker 1: he is real grumpy, real grouchy, real contrary mm hmm,
- 7:39Speaker 1: he's like, what you doing, man? Is any like basically
- 7:42Speaker 1: like calling Mike out for like not working, Like what
- 7:45Speaker 1: are you contributing? Right? Because like I think he's just
- 7:48Speaker 1: being prodictive as his daughter because his daughter is like
- 7:52Speaker 1: holding down the fort. She's the lawyer of the as
- 7:54Speaker 1: a fan. Yeah. Also in this scene, it seems like
- 7:57Speaker 1: Linda and Robert are trying to like capture everyone's attention,
- 8:01Speaker 1: like they want to be the lead dog in this situation.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Robert's doing it in like a way where he's trying
- 8:07Speaker 1: to like support his daughter, and Linda's doing it. We're like,
- 8:12Speaker 1: look at my fun new life with my boyfriend Evan.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So Max and Mike have that project. They got to
- 8:17Speaker 1: build a booth for the holiday stroll because Max does
- 8:21Speaker 1: a gift wrapping booth in exchange for donations. Yes, And
- 8:24Speaker 1: Mike's like an architect or something like that, right, He's
- 8:27Speaker 1: like designed this real complicated booth. And of course, uh,
- 8:32Speaker 1: Evan and Robert have a little bit of a argument
- 8:35Speaker 1: over who's going to build the booth. Max is like
- 8:39Speaker 1: why don't you both do it? Yeah? So Max Rether
- 8:41Speaker 1: puts everybody in an awkward position and asks grandpa as
- 8:45Speaker 1: well as boyfriend, like, oh, let's we can all work
- 8:48Speaker 1: on a YouTube. Can work on it together. Awkward all around.
- 8:52Speaker 1: If you've been in a situation where you're trying to
- 8:54Speaker 1: like manage the energy of a situation and someone doesn't
- 8:58Speaker 1: really like catch the and you're like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 9:01Speaker 1: that's not gonna work. Yeah, but you can't really at
- 9:03Speaker 1: that point do anything about it. Yeah. I felt for
- 9:07Speaker 1: everyone in this situation. When Max is like, let's all
- 9:11Speaker 1: do it together, I'm like, is he just a dumb
- 9:13Speaker 1: kid here asking dumb questions? Or is he truly trying
- 9:18Speaker 1: to set these chairs here masterminds? Yeah, Linda comes to Jennifer.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Jennifer's working hard, and she finally tells her, like why
- 9:32Speaker 1: she didn't tell her about the age difference ahead of time?
- 9:34Speaker 1: I mean, this seems like a no brainer. Of course
- 9:36Speaker 1: you're not gonna tell your daughter about the age difference
- 9:37Speaker 1: ahead of time, Like, who wants to have that conversation?
- 9:40Speaker 1: My boyfriends have my age. I mean I think you,
- 9:46Speaker 1: I think I might see something instead of like just
- 9:48Speaker 1: show up at the door and be like, here's my
- 9:51Speaker 1: boyfriend who's thirty years younger than I am. Yeah, Jennifer
- 9:55Speaker 1: does say, like, well, it would be weird regardless, especially
- 9:59Speaker 1: because you and dad are both staying in this house.
- 10:02Speaker 1: But it's especially weird when this guy is younger than
- 10:07Speaker 1: Jennifer herself, right, Okay, true, true, true. Linda really wants
- 10:11Speaker 1: to spend some time with Jennifer, and Jennifer's like, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 1: not gonna happen. Like, I don't even have time for
- 10:15Speaker 1: a date night with my husband. Who has time for
- 10:18Speaker 1: date nights? Do you guys go on date nights? If
- 10:21Speaker 1: you say yes, I'm gonna throw this microphone across the
- 10:23Speaker 1: room at you. I mean not regularly like you said
- 10:26Speaker 1: it out, like we're gonna go on a date night tonight. No,
- 10:29Speaker 1: we don't do a ton of date nights. But the
- 10:32Speaker 1: point here is what's going on is like Jennifer's working
- 10:36Speaker 1: so hard she doesn't have time for her husband, and
- 10:41Speaker 1: paralleled with Linda and Robert, their marriage ended, you know,
- 10:46Speaker 1: come to find out, not because they like stopped loving
- 10:48Speaker 1: each other, but just like life got that way to
- 10:51Speaker 1: other go and so Linda doesn't want that for Jennifer,
- 10:55Speaker 1: is what she's hinting at here. Good too, Evan and
- 10:59Speaker 1: Robert are a fighting about building like this is what's
- 11:03Speaker 1: so funny is there's so many things happening. Spoiler alert.
- 11:06Speaker 1: This is one of my favorite episodes of the stories
- 11:08Speaker 1: so far, but like it's a lot of scenes happening, right,
- 11:12Speaker 1: don't you think stuff's a back and forth, a lot
- 11:14Speaker 1: back and forth, Like let's just get to it at
- 11:17Speaker 1: some point. Yeah, but I think it makes it really
- 11:19Speaker 1: fun to watch when it's like that. Okay, could we
- 11:22Speaker 1: just spend like five minutes on the drama of building
- 11:25Speaker 1: the structure maybe? Mm hmm. I mean to your point.
- 11:29Speaker 1: We cut back again. Jennifer's like, let's do something fun
- 11:31Speaker 1: and Max is like, how about broomball? And I was like,
- 11:34Speaker 1: what roomball? I don't know. Mean some elderly folks in
- 11:38Speaker 1: this equation, have you ever played broomball? I didn't know
- 11:41Speaker 1: what broomball was until this episode. Well, I've only ever
- 11:44Speaker 1: played roomball on the ice, like when we would go
- 11:48Speaker 1: This is like a classic like church activity, Like you
- 11:51Speaker 1: go to the ice rink and you play room ball.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Mm hmm. It's like hockey, but you're on ice in
- 11:56Speaker 1: your tennis shoes. Ohka, and it is no One time
- 12:00Speaker 1: I went and they had to call the paramedics because
- 12:02Speaker 1: someone slipped and smacked their head on the ice. And
- 12:05Speaker 1: this was like late nineties, before we wore helmets for everything. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 1: so I imagine if you go play broomball. Now they require
- 12:11Speaker 1: a helmet or at least suggest them. But this broomball
- 12:15Speaker 1: was not on ice. It was in their cul de sac.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I mean, it was basically hockey with brooms, which I
- 12:21Speaker 1: guess bankes at broomball, but I've never seen away in
- 12:24Speaker 1: If broomball is a thing that you're aware of people
- 12:26Speaker 1: playing but not on the ice, still seems kind of
- 12:30Speaker 1: like a rough sport. Like if my kids were like, hey,
- 12:33Speaker 1: Grandma and Grandpa, let's go play broomball, I'll be like,
- 12:36Speaker 1: Grandma had two near placements. I can't imagine my daughter's
- 12:39Speaker 1: grandparents doing this at all. No, No, how about a
- 12:44Speaker 1: card game darling well left right center. So one thing
- 12:50Speaker 1: I like about this broomball scenems we get to see
- 12:52Speaker 1: some of the other neighbors at the broomball game, which
- 12:55Speaker 1: is fun. Re centers us in the series a little bit.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Of course, it's more like Robert and Evan drama. Robert's
- 13:02Speaker 1: quite good at roomball. In fact, the fact that he
- 13:05Speaker 1: scores like almost immediately, and then he does the gritty,
- 13:09Speaker 1: which I had to call my almost seventeen year old
- 13:13Speaker 1: daughter into the room. I was like, look at what
- 13:14Speaker 1: this guy's doing. She's like, oh my god. She was
- 13:16Speaker 1: like second hand embarrassment. But I was like, that is
- 13:19Speaker 1: so funny that it was included in this movie. And
- 13:22Speaker 1: he did it pretty damn well, I thought, I mean,
- 13:25Speaker 1: Dennis Haysburg can get it, man, totally. What I think
- 13:28Speaker 1: is there's a funny line Evan says to Linda. She's
- 13:30Speaker 1: like is he says, is he always like this? And
- 13:33Speaker 1: she goes for the thirty five years I've known him,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I am sorry, but those parents are older than thirty five.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Jennifer is older than thirty five years old. Oh, one
- 13:43Speaker 1: hundred percent. She's in her forties. Yeah, so like Linda
- 13:47Speaker 1: and Robert have known each other longer than thirty five
- 13:49Speaker 1: years if their daughter is at least forty years old, Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 1: the timing's not really working out. You know. It was
- 13:56Speaker 1: kind of a throwaway line. No, Like, I know us
- 13:59Speaker 1: would pick up stuff like that. Sure, sure, sure. My
- 14:02Speaker 1: favorite part though, is like, as Evan and Grandpa are
- 14:05Speaker 1: battling it out, Grandpa body checks Evan straight over the
- 14:09Speaker 1: little wall of hey mm hmmm. I laughed out loud,
- 14:14Speaker 1: did you? I thought it was hilarious. It was, it
- 14:18Speaker 1: was funny. I agree, and I honestly didn't see it
- 14:22Speaker 1: coming because Robert up into this point is like, my
- 14:25Speaker 1: knees hurt, everything hurts. Hu Ego got the best of them.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Uh huh. I just checks him, and apparently that's all
- 14:32Speaker 1: they needed to do. Like now they like each other.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Now they're bros. And Linda's like, what the heck, man,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I liked it better when you were fighting. Don't be
- 14:38Speaker 1: nice to each other. To the point that they go
- 14:40Speaker 1: off for a drink together. Yeah, which this is where
- 14:44Speaker 1: the episodes are so gets good for me. Yeah, and
- 14:46Speaker 1: Grandpa's like, don't wait up, Yeah, I really enjoyed. They
- 14:50Speaker 1: go out to a bar, like well, first, before that
- 14:53Speaker 1: they kind of like have a meeting of minds. They
- 14:56Speaker 1: find out that they played soccer. They played the same
- 14:59Speaker 1: position and so it's like while Evan was like icing
- 15:03Speaker 1: his knee anyway. Then they go out for a drinking
- 15:05Speaker 1: et cetera. Whatever. So at the bar they connect over
- 15:07Speaker 1: Scotch and al Green, And what I love is Robert's like,
- 15:12Speaker 1: do you really know who Al Green is? And He's like, well,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I didn't, but I do now because of your ex wife.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And this is one of those things you're like, oh,
- 15:20Speaker 1: he's not actually connecting with Evan, like he's connecting with Linda.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Yeah okay by proxy? Yeah sure, But hottie at the
- 15:28Speaker 1: bar is given Dennis Haysbert the eyes she buys him
- 15:33Speaker 1: a drink. This was really funny because Robert here finally
- 15:36Speaker 1: gets like super vulnerable and he's like, look, I've been
- 15:38Speaker 1: out of the game a long time. I don't know
- 15:40Speaker 1: what to do here. And Evan like really steps in
- 15:43Speaker 1: as wingman, I think, and he's like, oh, you got
- 15:46Speaker 1: this bro, Like he was very supportive of it and
- 15:48Speaker 1: like just tells him to go over there and encourages
- 15:51Speaker 1: him to go talk to her. And then Robert does,
- 15:54Speaker 1: which is a little surprising to me. Yeah, he gets
- 15:57Speaker 1: Nurse Scale's phone number, Nursecale. Well, when they come back,
- 16:01Speaker 1: this made me laugh out loud. He goes, we air
- 16:04Speaker 1: dropped numbers and then he's like, where do I find
- 16:06Speaker 1: that number after the air dropped it? And I laughed
- 16:10Speaker 1: because that is me, but also like that's really funny,
- 16:15Speaker 1: super funny, super funny. This evening also shows us Max
- 16:19Speaker 1: coming to talk to his dad because there's something going
- 16:21Speaker 1: on with Annie. It's like she's being weird. Max does
- 16:25Speaker 1: not realize that Annie likes him, and he's feeling jealous
- 16:29Speaker 1: about that other girl. It's nice that we see this
- 16:32Speaker 1: scene because it obviously ties the two movies together. From
- 16:36Speaker 1: the Woods family, Yes family. Yeah. The next morning, Lenna
- 16:40Speaker 1: wakes up all alone and she is not happy about it.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I mean, I obviously they must have come home, Like,
- 16:46Speaker 1: did Evan come home, go to bed, get up before
- 16:48Speaker 1: she did that? The Yeah, I think so, I think
- 16:50Speaker 1: that's what happened. And so Evan and Grandpa are in
- 16:55Speaker 1: the garage dancing and working. When they're working on building
- 16:59Speaker 1: that booth for the stroll, like there's music playing, like
- 17:02Speaker 1: it's a cute scene, like they're definitely vibing. Mm hmmm.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I wrote it in my notes, I need these two
- 17:08Speaker 1: in a buddy movie so fun together. I don't need
- 17:11Speaker 1: any more holidays. I need Sadarius Blaine and Dennis Haysbert
- 17:16Speaker 1: in a movie together. My favorite thing is Jennifer says
- 17:18Speaker 1: to her mom, you found the perfect guy for dad.
- 17:21Speaker 1: That one's so funny. And even Mike said something too
- 17:25Speaker 1: that was really funny. You found Robert only younger. Yes, yes,
- 17:29Speaker 1: those were some great lines. And then she just Evan
- 17:32Speaker 1: had to make the perfect over easy egg, and Jennifer
- 17:36Speaker 1: wants her dad to help her with some work, like
- 17:37Speaker 1: can you brainstorm case law with me? He's like, man,
- 17:40Speaker 1: it is time to play. It is not time to work. Yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Don't you really see like Robert kind of his spirit
- 17:46Speaker 1: is awakening, yes, from softening the beginning. Yeah, and we're
- 17:52Speaker 1: starting to see. Linda's like, since when do you take
- 17:54Speaker 1: time off for fun? And he's realizing like his life
- 17:57Speaker 1: is passing him by, like he missed out on certain
- 17:59Speaker 1: things because he was so focused on work. And I think,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I know it's a movie or a series or whatever
- 18:07Speaker 1: it is, but like that's valid, Like sometimes your life
- 18:10Speaker 1: is work something like you got a family to feed,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you got bills to pay. Right, Sometimes being in your
- 18:16Speaker 1: forty sucks. Robert's like, oh look, I still got this
- 18:19Speaker 1: life ahead of me. Let's let's live it. Gale invites
- 18:22Speaker 1: Robert to join him at the stroll, and Evan's like, yo,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you gotta level up the wardrobe. Man. This is one
- 18:28Speaker 1: of my favorite scenes when they go out shopping. The chemistry,
- 18:33Speaker 1: like the friend chemistry between Evan and Robert is so
- 18:37Speaker 1: good in this shopping montage. I agree. It's like the
- 18:41Speaker 1: hotness of Sir Darius Blaine plus Dennis Haysbert has these
- 18:44Speaker 1: like deadpan reactions. Plus the music. It's so fun. I
- 18:49Speaker 1: haven't know about the music. The lyrics were I know
- 18:52Speaker 1: how to bow chick a wow. It make that booty
- 18:56Speaker 1: go bow wow wow. I wrote it down because I
- 18:59Speaker 1: was so shook that this was coming from a Hallmark project.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you spoiler alert, there is straight up
- 19:07Speaker 1: Bauchika wow wow reference music coming in a later episode.
- 19:14Speaker 1: It's in my notes. We'll talk about it. I don't
- 19:16Speaker 1: think it's accidental. During this shopping scene to Evan is
- 19:21Speaker 1: looking for a gift for Linda, his girlfriend, a Christmas gift,
- 19:26Speaker 1: and Robert finds a lamp and he's like, this is it.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This is the gift for her. It's kind of like
- 19:32Speaker 1: not a big moment. It turns out being like a
- 19:35Speaker 1: bigger moment when he gives the gift. The shopping scene
- 19:39Speaker 1: is more about Robert and like getting updated in his
- 19:43Speaker 1: wardrobe and like getting a haircut and a shave and
- 19:46Speaker 1: all this stuff so he can go out on his
- 19:47Speaker 1: date with Gail. Yeah, and the lamp like projects like
- 19:51Speaker 1: the Northern Lights, and we learn Linda has had like
- 19:54Speaker 1: a lifelong dream. Yeah, and Evan's like, this is not
- 19:58Speaker 1: an exciting gift, but wait for it. Back at home,
- 20:01Speaker 1: Jennifer's wrapping Mike's gift, which is a shirt like, don't
- 20:05Speaker 1: dog on a shirt? My husband, you know what he
- 20:06Speaker 1: wants for Christmas shirts from Brooks Brothers. So sometimes she
- 20:10Speaker 1: just needs some new shirts. I like clothes. I do
- 20:12Speaker 1: like when Linda says a Christmas gift is a way
- 20:14Speaker 1: to say I see you. That's too much pressure. I
- 20:19Speaker 1: agree with you. Is it too, like, yes, give too
- 20:21Speaker 1: much pressure for every gift giving holiday? Absol freakingly Sometimes
- 20:26Speaker 1: I agree with you. Right, I'm gonna give Christmas gifts
- 20:28Speaker 1: every single year to multiple people, Yeah, and every person
- 20:33Speaker 1: no such pressures. I do find I'm like so excited
- 20:35Speaker 1: about gifts. I've had years where I'm like, this is
- 20:37Speaker 1: a great gift, and I've had years and this is
- 20:40Speaker 1: one of them where I'm like, I'm just checking the box.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Not because I don't love these people, but because year
- 20:46Speaker 1: over year over year, it's not always possible to find, like,
- 20:49Speaker 1: it's not all these gifts speaks to you. Yeah, I
- 20:52Speaker 1: mean I like the sentiment that that Linda's laying down
- 20:55Speaker 1: here but also I just that's too much pressure to
- 20:59Speaker 1: put on somebody. So Linda doesn't want Mike and Jennifer
- 21:02Speaker 1: to be in the same position that Linda and Robert
- 21:03Speaker 1: are like a row of heart. But sometimes sometimes life
- 21:07Speaker 1: is just going through the motions. In watch Scrampa, Look
- 21:10Speaker 1: and Fly And now Linda learns that Robert has met someone.
- 21:15Speaker 1: They're having cocktails and gifts before they head out to
- 21:17Speaker 1: the stroll m H And I'm like, was it clear?
- 21:19Speaker 1: Are they just doing like one gift or is this
- 21:21Speaker 1: when they do all their gifts like it's it's Christmas Eve.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I think maybe it wasn't clear, but
- 21:26Speaker 1: maybe they're just exchanging one gift. Yeah, Jennifer's shirt is
- 21:33Speaker 1: not a hit, but Evan's Northern Lights lamp is. Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Linda has like a real moment, like this is her
- 21:39Speaker 1: big epiphany. I always had to cancel my trip, something
- 21:42Speaker 1: always came up, like her family. But can't you understand
- 21:46Speaker 1: that feeling of like I had this dream and like, yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: stuff got in the way. I understand it. Yes, Like
- 21:53Speaker 1: I don't think she's like, ugh, my family, but she's like, yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 1: I did sacrifice things that I wanted in the name
- 22:00Speaker 1: of living life. Yes, I mean I do agree with that,
- 22:05Speaker 1: but on the flip side of it, I was like,
- 22:07Speaker 1: everybody has to sacrifice something. I'm sorry you didn't get
- 22:10Speaker 1: to go see the northern lights. Sure, but she is
- 22:13Speaker 1: appreciative of it. In this moment, Evan does take credit
- 22:17Speaker 1: for the gift. I kind of wanted him to be like, oh, Robert,
- 22:19Speaker 1: help me in it. Linda knows she looked at Robert.
- 22:21Speaker 1: He gave her a wink. Well, and she does later
- 22:23Speaker 1: say something to them, like she looks at him while
- 22:26Speaker 1: you know, she hugs Evan. Yeah, she does later say
- 22:29Speaker 1: something to him. But at the straw cut back to
- 22:32Speaker 1: Max's Love Love Life, and he's talking to Stephanie Ja Zandi.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Now Annie and Robert had told Gail he'd be wearing
- 22:41Speaker 1: a Santa Hattan jingle bell so he's wearing a Santa
- 22:43Speaker 1: Hattan jingle bells. I don't love it, Like she knows
- 22:46Speaker 1: what you look like. It's not like one of those
- 22:47Speaker 1: like I'll be the one in the Santa Ha. It's
- 22:49Speaker 1: on a blind date. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. And plus
- 22:51Speaker 1: he's looking like so nice now, not that he didn't
- 22:54Speaker 1: look nice before, but like he's all freshened up. Now,
- 22:56Speaker 1: don't put a stupid Santa hat on. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: he's got his nice new war drums called jingle Bells on.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Linda does try to sabotage her date a little bit,
- 23:04Speaker 1: hit a little bit. Evan calls her off, but she
- 23:06Speaker 1: insists on accompanying Robert to get hotsider for everyone. And
- 23:10Speaker 1: this is where she's like, I know you picked that gift.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I know it was you. And they talk about like
- 23:16Speaker 1: we learned the hard way about time and priorities and Robert.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Robert's a pretty good dude here. He's like, I'm glad
- 23:22Speaker 1: you found someone to see the northern lights with. He's
- 23:24Speaker 1: not like run away with me, not yet. Oh is
- 23:28Speaker 1: that a spoiler? No, I'm just saying, like, did they
- 23:32Speaker 1: get back together in the final episode. Megan's already seen
- 23:35Speaker 1: it in this moment, Evan. He can see something happening
- 23:39Speaker 1: with Robert and Linda. Uh, and he's like, yo, us
- 23:43Speaker 1: guys got to stick together, like I helped you with
- 23:45Speaker 1: Gail back off on my lady, and all of a sudden,
- 23:48Speaker 1: we are not bros anymore. Yeah, that went Their little
- 23:52Speaker 1: romance went sideways real fast. Yes, And this this made me,
- 23:56Speaker 1: so sad Evan bumps into Robert. Robert falls down. Yeah,
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's his knee. Something about an older man falling down
- 24:04Speaker 1: breaks my heart. Yeah, I'm glad you didn't watch the
- 24:08Speaker 1: Jake Paul Mike Tyson fight because I did watch the
- 24:10Speaker 1: Jake Paul and I felt real bad watching it the
- 24:13Speaker 1: whole time. I didn't watch the whole thing. He's an
- 24:15Speaker 1: old man. I was like, this is making me uncomfortable.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I can't watch. Yeah, but the same kind of sentiment though. Yes,
- 24:22Speaker 1: Linda's met at both of them for acting like children,
- 24:24Speaker 1: and now everyone's arguing. You see Max run by and
- 24:27Speaker 1: he kisses them at the stroll, she takes me selfie,
- 24:30Speaker 1: so that's why Max runs what away. Mike goes to
- 24:33Speaker 1: check on him. And this is my second favorite scene
- 24:36Speaker 1: because Linda and Jennifer go to the store and while
- 24:39Speaker 1: they're in the store, Linda tells her daughter like she's
- 24:44Speaker 1: seeing the man she used to love and Robbert, and
- 24:47Speaker 1: she's like, we did so much together before life got
- 24:49Speaker 1: in the way. And Jennifer says, how did that happen?
- 24:52Speaker 1: And Linda says simply quietly without even noticing, yeah, for sure.
- 24:59Speaker 1: At home, Robert and Evan are at home and they're
- 25:02Speaker 1: like kind of apologizing to each other, and Robert's icing
- 25:04Speaker 1: his knee from his fall. And when the ladies get home,
- 25:09Speaker 1: Gail has also arrived with soup, and boom, the lights
- 25:13Speaker 1: go out and that's the end of our episode. That's
- 25:16Speaker 1: the end of our episode. Do you bring soup to
- 25:17Speaker 1: an injured person? No, I don't. I'm not gonna bring
- 25:21Speaker 1: soup to anybody. Thank you for listening to this episode
