- 5:37Speaker 1: opportunity to meet some brothers to experience California. Just two birds,
- 5:42Speaker 1: one stone didn't work out my favor, but anybody that
- 5:45Speaker 1: is there, I look forward to checking out the life feed,
- 5:47Speaker 1: checking out the pictures, and being really jealous that I'm
- 5:51Speaker 1: not out in California. Speaking of beard contest, yours truly
- 5:55Speaker 1: and with the help of the main sponsor, Beard Laws coincidence,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think not as actually I'm actually hosting a beard
- 6:04Speaker 1: contest on the app TikTok just posted a couple of
- 6:08Speaker 1: days ago the announcement that there was going to be
- 6:10Speaker 1: a competition. Yesterday I posted the rules, but I can
- 6:14Speaker 1: go over them real quick. If anybody's on the TikTok app,
- 6:16Speaker 1: it's very easy. Give me a follow forty four beerd
- 6:19Speaker 1: nuts forty four. You can also find me using beard Law.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But the details for the contest are as follows. There's
- 6:25Speaker 1: gonna be seven categories. Category one is more or less
- 6:29Speaker 1: like a business beard four inches an under. Second category
- 6:33Speaker 1: is four to eight inches, third category is eight inches
- 6:37Speaker 1: or more. Fourth categories mustaches. Fifth category is the sister
- 6:41Speaker 1: for whiskers. Category number six is the goate category, which
- 6:45Speaker 1: was recently added by request, and the seventh category is popularity.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So all this is going to work if depending on
- 6:52Speaker 1: the size of your beard, you should know how it is.
- 6:54Speaker 1: If not gravitate measure measure from the bottom of the
- 6:57Speaker 1: lip down to the bottom of your beard. Whatever category
- 6:59Speaker 1: you're in category one through seven, you just use a hashtag.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You can be in multiple obviously they can't. You can't
- 7:06Speaker 1: be in the foreign under. And then the fourn to
- 7:09Speaker 1: eight we're just gonna say you are one or your two,
- 7:12Speaker 1: but you can be in any category as well as
- 7:15Speaker 1: the popularity category. All you have to do is enter
- 7:18Speaker 1: by posting a video of your front beard, your side beard,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and use the following hashtags beard law hashtag beard law
- 7:25Speaker 1: one for category one, hashtag beard law two for category
- 7:28Speaker 1: number two, hashtag beard law three for category number four,
- 7:31Speaker 1: three hashtag beard law four category number four. The only
- 7:34Speaker 1: kicker and the only different one is category five. Sisters
- 7:38Speaker 1: for whiskers is the hashtag six beard Law six seven
- 7:41Speaker 1: beard Law seven. And then what's gonna happen is I
- 7:44Speaker 1: have some judges that are non TikTok users, so that
- 7:47Speaker 1: way they can't vote on popularity or by name, or
- 7:49Speaker 1: they're not even gonna know you. They know you, that's
- 7:52Speaker 1: a coincidence, that's dumb luck. But what they're gonna do
- 7:54Speaker 1: is they're gonna go through I have set up a system.
- 7:58Speaker 1: It's gonna have pictures of every testant and then you
- 8:01Speaker 1: are going to judge. The judges are going to look
- 8:03Speaker 1: at every single beard and they're gonna rate one through
- 8:06Speaker 1: ten based on the following uh the following criteria. They're
- 8:12Speaker 1: going to judge one through ten based on quality, density, size, healthiness,
- 8:17Speaker 1: and personal fit. How does it look on your face?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Once the judges get all their information, all their scores in,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I will then tally them up and we'll figure out
- 8:26Speaker 1: a winner in each category. The winners will get some swag.
- 8:30Speaker 1: We have a couple of sponsors so far. At this
- 8:32Speaker 1: point we have two sponsors. We have All That's Advocate
- 8:35Speaker 1: and we have the Band of Bearded Brothers are gonna
- 8:39Speaker 1: sponsors two categories, so when are those categories. We'll get
- 8:42Speaker 1: some Band of Bearded Brothers, merch, swag, products, whatever whatever
- 8:46Speaker 1: is there. All That's Advocate is also going to do
- 8:47Speaker 1: the same thing your main sponsor, Beard Laws. They're gonna
- 8:50Speaker 1: they're gonna hook you guys up with some swag and
- 8:53Speaker 1: two beards one record potentially are going to maybe throw
- 8:56Speaker 1: some stickers and sisters for whiskers. They're gonna throw some
- 8:59Speaker 1: swag for the ladies. But then what's going to happen
- 9:02Speaker 1: is before before all this happens, once we get all
- 9:05Speaker 1: of this in the voting era, not the voting, but
- 9:08Speaker 1: all the entries are done, which is going to end Sunday,
- 9:12Speaker 1: August fourth, probably right around you know, eleven pm. Eastern time,
- 9:17Speaker 1: But if you get them in a little later, that's
- 9:18Speaker 1: fine because it's going to take a little time for
- 9:20Speaker 1: the judges to vote. But what's gonna happen is, I'm
- 9:22Speaker 1: going to do a video for each category. I'm going
- 9:24Speaker 1: to list and tag every contestant so we know who's
- 9:27Speaker 1: in there, and then we're going to take the top
- 9:30Speaker 1: couple of people. You know, if there's a pile of
- 9:32Speaker 1: people and it's the top five, great, top ten, whatever
- 9:35Speaker 1: we deem. And then there's going to be a talent
- 9:37Speaker 1: around where we are going to name a talent or
- 9:39Speaker 1: a video that each person has to do, and then
- 9:42Speaker 1: we can go ahead. Our judges are going to look
- 9:44Speaker 1: at them, we're going to vote them on a couple
- 9:46Speaker 1: of different scenarios and criteria, and then we're going to
- 9:51Speaker 1: name a winner. And then once the winners are there,
- 9:52Speaker 1: we will message you and we will set up getting
- 9:55Speaker 1: you your swag or your prize. The Popularity contest is
- 10:00Speaker 1: going to be every single person is going to be tagged.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It's simply going to be most votes win. We'll pick
- 10:06Speaker 1: a time, we'll pick a date, we'll cut it off,
- 10:08Speaker 1: and whoever is the most votes will win that category.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And we'll win some swag. So if you're on TikTok,
- 10:13Speaker 1: feel free to enter. If you have any questions, message
- 10:15Speaker 1: me in the app, message me in the actual video
- 10:18Speaker 1: with the rules or the hype video for it, or
- 10:22Speaker 1: shoot me an email at Matt atbeardloss dot com, or
- 10:24Speaker 1: you can shoot me a message on Instagram, Facebook, whatever
- 10:26Speaker 1: it is that that's easier for you, ladies and gentlemen.
- 10:31Speaker 1: This is now the featured sports section that I've been
- 10:35Speaker 1: talking about forever with our co host who is in
- 10:38Speaker 1: charge of everything sports, the one the only logan. Yo,
- 10:43Speaker 1: what's up, peoples, So just tell us a little bit
- 10:47Speaker 1: about you. What are you about, what's your affiliation, what's
- 10:50Speaker 1: your passion? What's your sports? I know it, but let
- 10:53Speaker 1: everybody else out here just know a little bit about you.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Sure live and breathe baseball and other sports, but mainly baseball.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Old kids. So now I watch baseball all the time.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Not that I did, but now I can afford baseball
- 11:11Speaker 2: all the time and to watch it and listen to it.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So luckily I have a wife who doesn't hate baseball.
- 11:17Speaker 3: That's good. I'm a huge Blue Jays fan, although I
- 11:20Speaker 3: like good baseball.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's a little bit cheaper to be able
- 11:25Speaker 1: to sit at the house with the MLATV and drink
- 11:28Speaker 1: none eight dollar beers.
- 11:30Speaker 2: In fact, what we We're four hours away from the
- 11:35Speaker 2: nearest MLB stadium, two hours away from the nearest minor
- 11:38Speaker 2: league stadium.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I ain't got that much time.
- 11:40Speaker 1: No, but we should go. We should go down to
- 11:42Speaker 1: the and see the Mets, see if maybe we can
- 11:44Speaker 1: work some kind of like sports media pass, because I'm
- 11:47Speaker 1: sure we can go into that be like, Hey, this
- 11:50Speaker 1: is Logan from the Beard Laws podcast. I'm the sports guy.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Let's meet with him. Let's do this. We should do that.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And worst comes to worst, we go on free hot
- 11:57Speaker 1: dog night and we can dollar hot dog night. We'll
- 12:00Speaker 1: just get dollar hot dogs.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Right wor's coming the worst they yell at us, say no,
- 12:04Speaker 2: and we still go to watch baseball, and.
- 12:06Speaker 1: They probably won't even yell at us, because we'll probably
- 12:08Speaker 1: just do it via like email or something.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Depending on how much we had to drink the night
- 12:12Speaker 3: before or that day.
- 12:13Speaker 1: They might yell at us truth, and we probably deserve it.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Under field during the game, they're gonna yell at us.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But yeah, but if you get banned, like for streaking
- 12:21Speaker 1: at the Met's affiliation, I mean, is really a loss.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I mean, who is even in the organization coming up
- 12:26Speaker 1: that's even worth it? Like Zach are off the.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Il TBO and I believe Keith r Nandez still plays
- 12:32Speaker 2: first base for those guys.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Right T Bobo time, Maybe Kevin Helster.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I did I did hear the interview on the Pat
- 12:40Speaker 1: McAfee show with T Bow and it was pretty inspiring.
- 12:44Speaker 1: And they they said that it was the second greatest
- 12:47Speaker 1: motivational speech on their show.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Mark they don't really motivate.
- 12:52Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. But he was top two.
- 12:55Speaker 1: That's pretty good to four, top two out of four,
- 12:58Speaker 1: all right, So that's that's logan. And he has a
- 13:01Speaker 1: beard currently. Once in a while he gets crazy and
- 13:03Speaker 1: he does the mustache or sideburns or something. But he's
- 13:05Speaker 1: currently our bearded sports guy, which is kind of a
- 13:08Speaker 1: requirement in beard laws.
- 13:10Speaker 2: So, I mean, and it look it pretty good for
- 13:11Speaker 2: someone who doesn't grow beards much. Now that I have
- 13:14Speaker 2: a odd that the beard helps make me look intelligent.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I mean, dead bodis and beards are absolutely where they're at.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That's how I thrive, you know, That's what I make
- 13:22Speaker 1: a living off of so, so yeah, let's talk trade deadline.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I want to go winterers, losers. You want to just
- 13:28Speaker 1: you just want to talk about you just want to
- 13:30Speaker 1: kind of give us your take on the trade deadline.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Man, let's go. Let's go winners and losers.
- 13:36Speaker 1: All right, clear clear winner in your eyes has to
- 13:39Speaker 1: be you know, I.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Like what Atlanta did because it's small, and I think
- 13:45Speaker 2: when you get these teams that Atlanta's not mine.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Let's go three. I'll go three, three to one, Okay,
- 13:51Speaker 3: so I'll go with this.
- 13:52Speaker 1: This is your bronze.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Yeah, this is the bronze medal.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah they did. They just went to a They
- 13:59Speaker 1: just went to a five in six in in game
- 14:01Speaker 1: pretty much. You know, if it worked out.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Would they get Green Green to close or yeah?
- 14:06Speaker 1: They got sh Yeah, they got Shane Green, Mark Mullanson
- 14:10Speaker 1: and uh, who's the other one, Chris Martin?
- 14:12Speaker 3: Was it mar yep?
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah Chris.
- 14:14Speaker 2: And they got control out of them, so, which I'm
- 14:16Speaker 2: not huge on the control when you're trying to win
- 14:17Speaker 2: year one of the trade, Like, who cares about control?
- 14:21Speaker 2: Give me that bullshit? Where oh we have a traded
- 14:24Speaker 2: for control? They got him for years it's about right now,
- 14:27Speaker 2: so shut out.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yep, and the Braves bullpen just pulled up a quick
- 14:31Speaker 1: stat since July first has the twenty seventh worst. We
- 14:35Speaker 1: have the twenty seventh ranked ERA, a twenty ninth whip,
- 14:38Speaker 1: twenty ninth strikes to walks ratio, and the twenty eighth
- 14:42Speaker 1: opp ops. They have a five point six y three
- 14:46Speaker 1: ERA their bullpens in July first.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I'm surprised you didn't get traded at the Braves.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Right, they should have brought in the big boy. Hey,
- 14:52Speaker 1: numbing need.
- 14:53Speaker 3: The writy, maybe even me. I mean, do they have
- 14:56Speaker 3: a side armor?
- 14:57Speaker 1: I don't think so. Side arms a dying bree.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I guarantee that they don't have a five ft seven
- 15:01Speaker 2: and a half side arm.
- 15:02Speaker 3: No, no, Major leaguers don't face that.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Shit, No they don't. They're not gonna see that, and
- 15:07Speaker 1: they're gonna be like, oh shit, their eyes is gonna
- 15:09Speaker 1: light up, like on on Rookie of the Year when
- 15:12Speaker 1: his special arm stops working and he has to do
- 15:14Speaker 1: the old man throw it up in the one pitch
- 15:17Speaker 1: he lights up and can't even hit it. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I think on something here. So any organization looking to
- 15:24Speaker 1: sign an overweight, bearded, severely bearded, hairy guy who kind
- 15:29Speaker 1: of excels once in a while at the wave pool
- 15:32Speaker 1: in the water park. Shoot me an email Matteteard laws
- 15:35Speaker 1: dot com. Or if you need a five foot seven
- 15:37Speaker 1: side arm who's bearded, who can who can probably hit
- 15:41Speaker 1: what sixties seventies on a good day. So in my truck, Well,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I was trying to give you some credit here. All right, scouts,
- 15:49Speaker 1: we're gonna sit. We're gonna say fifty five ish on
- 15:51Speaker 1: a good day's side arm. You need Madibeard laws dot com.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Hit us up. Who is your who's your so?
- 15:58Speaker 3: This year? So that was good then, and then I
- 16:01Speaker 3: threw two more pitches and quit for three days.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, but he's back out of here. He'll
- 16:05Speaker 1: come out of retirement.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Like yeah, I'm I'm I'm all for the team ship.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Maybe the with CC down. You know, they're they're gonna
- 16:13Speaker 1: need another bullpen guy in New York because they don't
- 16:15Speaker 1: have enough. So maybe they could sign us to mix them.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I mean, could you imagine maybe I or you be
- 16:21Speaker 1: the closer they come in. Have to see one hundred
- 16:24Speaker 1: mile an hour fastball after one hundred mile an hour
- 16:26Speaker 1: fastball and they have to see a fifty five mile
- 16:28Speaker 1: an hour fastball from you. Yeah, that could be the
- 16:30Speaker 1: newest one.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, alright mile an hour fastball. Ten point control, by
- 16:35Speaker 2: the way, Yeah, that's it's pretty easy because basically I'm
- 16:37Speaker 2: walking it there. But I have ten point control.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Now, Rivera got a one hundred percent voting in the
- 16:42Speaker 1: Hall of Fame with one pitch, I'm pretty sure we
- 16:44Speaker 1: can get.
- 16:45Speaker 3: You there, brother Cake.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're gonna have a way cooler entry intro
- 16:51Speaker 1: entry so on. I feel I don't know what.
- 16:53Speaker 3: It would be yet. Let's get back to that part.
- 16:55Speaker 1: We'll get back to that number.
- 16:58Speaker 3: The silver. I'm kind of torn on this.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Your butt soles, that's fact.
- 17:04Speaker 3: That's fact. You know.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I'm I I kind of want to say Indians and
- 17:08Speaker 2: I kind of Indians are Indians are.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Like the Jays.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So I'll get the I'll give the silver in the
- 17:13Speaker 2: wind with the Indians because and this is weird, all right.
- 17:18Speaker 3: They got there. They got their hitters, yep, got the
- 17:22Speaker 3: hitters they wanted.
- 17:23Speaker 2: They got their I mean, you know, their starting pitching is.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Is really good. It needs to come back.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I worry you don't just trade one of the best
- 17:32Speaker 2: pitchers in the league for yes, l peak, unless you've
- 17:36Speaker 2: got a huge plan. Their plan was to get rid
- 17:38Speaker 2: of Trevor Bauer's craziness. You just picked up yes.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeek, yeah, imagine And and I think MLB was like,
- 17:46Speaker 1: you cannot have both of these idiots on one team,
- 17:50Speaker 1: so why don't we just swap them? The fans are
- 17:52Speaker 1: into it, you know what I mean. Clear clearly Cleveland
- 17:55Speaker 1: had one, you know, and now they got a crazy
- 17:59Speaker 1: addition football team. They're crazy. They're burning Lebron's jersey.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Still, you can't tell me the Reds wouldn't have traded
- 18:06Speaker 2: Tweag for some minor some good minor leaguers.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Imagine if Puig and Bauer were on the.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Same team, right, I could imagine how much more brawls
- 18:15Speaker 1: there would be.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd agreed, that's.
- 18:17Speaker 1: What baseball really needs, it really is. So who do
- 18:20Speaker 1: you think exit was uglier? Puig and his brawl or
- 18:24Speaker 1: Bower's tantrum toss.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Neither Stroman.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yeah that was a good one too.
- 18:31Speaker 3: The look the tantrum toss, Okay, I get it. Kind
- 18:35Speaker 3: of childish.
- 18:37Speaker 2: The dude also once missed a major league postseason start
- 18:41Speaker 2: against the Jays, not his fault though, but kind of
- 18:44Speaker 2: because he was trying to fix a fucking h one
- 18:48Speaker 2: of those things. I'm not technical. The fucking drone, yep.
- 18:53Speaker 1: The drone.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 18:54Speaker 2: He tried to fix a fucking drone and cut and
- 18:56Speaker 2: slice his finger open. Not a stupid thing like it's
- 18:59Speaker 2: not like a tantrum thing like, dude, you have a
- 19:02Speaker 2: major league postseason start in two days, stop fixing your
- 19:06Speaker 2: fucking drone.
- 19:06Speaker 3: That chart anyways, My point.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Is, have you have your kid fixed it? He probably
- 19:10Speaker 1: would have fixed it anyways and fixed it right, or
- 19:11Speaker 1: just go buy a new one? How many million?
- 19:13Speaker 3: Right? You got a million dollars And it's coming.
- 19:15Speaker 1: From that's coming from a couple of guys that don't
- 19:17Speaker 1: have a drone, by the way.
- 19:18Speaker 2: So I wouldn't know how to Yeah, I couldn't even
- 19:21Speaker 2: think of the word.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I would like to.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Indians get silver because they set out to do a.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Job and they did it.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Yep.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I don't know if it's gonna happen.
- 19:31Speaker 2: This year, but if you set out to do a job,
- 19:33Speaker 2: you do it in the trademarket fair enough number one
- 19:36Speaker 2: clearly the Houston Astros. Uh, that is a goddamn steal
- 19:40Speaker 2: for their minor league system is probably quite depleted. But
- 19:45Speaker 2: you just got Zach Grenky and seemingly a now somewhat
- 19:49Speaker 2: healthy Aaron Sanchez, who's been throwing the ball really good.
- 19:52Speaker 2: He had he had nine strikeouts in the first fucking
- 19:55Speaker 2: five innings.
- 19:56Speaker 3: The other day. Like they're getting they're getting.
- 19:59Speaker 2: A Healthyanchez, and if he stays healthy, Sanchez is depicted
- 20:03Speaker 2: as their number five, as I.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Saw on the TV the other day. But honestly, Sanchez
- 20:08Speaker 3: is definitely a number two or three went healthy. What
- 20:12Speaker 3: an un Pastros are going for it.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You couldn't even create this kind of rotation in a
- 20:18Speaker 1: video game without cheating that you have Grinky Verlander, Cole Miley,
- 20:23Speaker 1: and now what Sanchez as a five probably one of
- 20:27Speaker 1: the best bullpens in baseball right now.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah Miley okay, but he proved that he's a big
- 20:33Speaker 2: game pitcher last year.
- 20:35Speaker 3: I think it's probably still there.
- 20:36Speaker 2: You know, like Miley's always kind of hovered around five,
- 20:39Speaker 2: five hundred average, but you know he's got it. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 2: he doesn't have to do it, you know, like he's
- 20:45Speaker 2: not pitching. He's not pitching what Game two or three
- 20:48Speaker 2: for the Brewers this year? He's pitching maybe a waste
- 20:51Speaker 2: game in the postseason or long endings for the Astros exactly.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I mean, if these guys come out Verlander, Cole, you
- 20:57Speaker 1: know what I mean, and Grenky you start a series
- 20:59Speaker 1: three nothing, it doesn't matter who's I mean, one of
- 21:02Speaker 1: them can cycle back and get another win on the
- 21:03Speaker 1: second time around.
- 21:05Speaker 3: That was that was a coup right there to get
- 21:07Speaker 3: those guys. Yeah, so Astro's gold.
- 21:11Speaker 1: And then of course, and then of course me being
- 21:12Speaker 1: the Pirate fan that I am seeing Cole disappear from
- 21:16Speaker 1: the Pirates organization has gone twenty seven and ten with
- 21:19Speaker 1: a two ninety e RA in Houston.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yeah, didn't see that coming out.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Nah. I mean, I guess change of atmosphere, change of environment,
- 21:27Speaker 1: different coaching staff, having one of the greatest lineups in
- 21:31Speaker 1: baseball will probably help that as well, because I mean,
- 21:34Speaker 1: if if he's got a two point nine ERA in Houston,
- 21:38Speaker 1: a three point one ERA is not going to get
- 21:40Speaker 1: you from in Pittsburgh when you score one to two
- 21:42Speaker 1: runs a game.
- 21:43Speaker 3: I will say this though, they who they lose. They
- 21:45Speaker 3: lost Matt.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Kemp, they lost some other guys too, true, ast Matt
- 21:48Speaker 2: or not Matt camp Tony camp Tony Camp has been
- 21:51Speaker 2: a really, really good bench player for them, and you know,
- 21:54Speaker 2: I got one of those outfielders that can start when
- 21:56Speaker 2: someone goes down. I think they're going to miss him
- 21:58Speaker 2: in the playoffs. Yeah, he's kind of like a mini
- 22:01Speaker 2: L two Va, which almost is impossible. But the dude.
- 22:04Speaker 2: The dude plays with a ton of intensity. He's pretty good.
- 22:07Speaker 2: He's had a down year. I think they're gonna miss him.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I can't believe that they had to trade Matt Kemp
- 22:13Speaker 2: to get Oh, they got somebody was at the Reds.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I don't have my phone in front of me, so
- 22:17Speaker 3: I can't remember. Well I do, but I'm talking on it.
- 22:20Speaker 2: They traded Matt Kemp to somebody for a believe or
- 22:23Speaker 2: reliever or for Martin Maldonado.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I can't remember. Anyways, I think they'll miss him absolutely.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So I was checking out the Twitter and Paul at
- 22:31Speaker 1: Paul Hembo. He threw up something pretty crazy. So Verlander
- 22:34Speaker 1: Cole Grenky this season, in sixty nine starts, have combined
- 22:38Speaker 1: thirty six thirteen, two point eight five e R, a
- 22:41Speaker 1: point nine to two whip, eleven point one strike or
- 22:45Speaker 1: strikeouts per nine innings. I mean, that's the opponent's batting
- 22:49Speaker 1: average point one seven.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I mean that's decent, right.
- 22:54Speaker 1: That is unbelievable. So they rank those three rank first, fourth,
- 22:58Speaker 1: and eighth in the majors and waited on base average allowed.
- 23:04Speaker 3: That.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and there are three of the top ten starters
- 23:09Speaker 1: in the majors and Miley is he's even rated in
- 23:12Speaker 1: the top fifteen in e ra A. Yeah, it's unbelievable.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So yeah, it's crazy. So who would you consider the
- 23:23Speaker 1: biggest losers?
- 23:25Speaker 3: Man, the losers? I think the Giants get the bronze.
- 23:30Speaker 1: For being the loser.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I mean I feel like, I mean Bumgarner's staying. I
- 23:36Speaker 1: feel like Giants fans should be happy.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Giants fans are.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Gonna be happy. But here's the thing. You either go
- 23:41Speaker 2: for it or you don't. Yeah, they traded what they
- 23:44Speaker 2: got rid of Milanson and they got rid of a few.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Others, Dyson and Drew, Uh, what's the name.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Pommerman as an ERA plus five I believe.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yeah, So like he didn't really lose much.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Mlanson's you know, he's been there for a while, so
- 24:01Speaker 2: you got to imagine clubhouse type stuff.
- 24:03Speaker 3: But what they can't.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but what's to say to your organization too. You're
- 24:08Speaker 1: two and a half games out of the wild card.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Well, that's what I mean.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I mean, they still got a chance. And I mean
- 24:14Speaker 1: that's what I'm just saying. I mean, they had a
- 24:15Speaker 1: great July, they're playing hot baseball. Even if they get
- 24:17Speaker 1: in the wild card, you never know what happens. Get
- 24:20Speaker 1: in there, at least have at least you have them.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Right, But you gotta get there.
- 24:24Speaker 2: So if you if you're two and a half out
- 24:26Speaker 2: and you start trading people, even though not people who
- 24:29Speaker 2: are not having great seasons or whatever, what do you
- 24:31Speaker 2: get You damn well better get somebody that's going to
- 24:34Speaker 2: make an impact impact.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, let's go for it.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Don't just trade pieces like in that situation. Don't don't
- 24:42Speaker 2: the players think like, hey, Lanson's got traded. Begin you know,
- 24:47Speaker 2: like at some point you get you got to decide
- 24:49Speaker 2: to your You've got to make the decision for your players.
- 24:51Speaker 3: We're going for or we're just going to take a chance.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Whould they get Scooter Garnet out of that?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Scooter Janett, who you know, probably a probably a really
- 25:00Speaker 2: good pick up if he goes on another streak like
- 25:03Speaker 2: the beginning of the year, he.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Was really hot and he's Scooter.
- 25:10Speaker 2: But you know, and that's that's good. But you know,
- 25:14Speaker 2: get get some other help. I would I had, I
- 25:17Speaker 2: had in my.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Head that if they were going to go for it,
- 25:19Speaker 3: Aaron Sanchez would have been a.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Good pick up, just someone, you know, some depth. Who
- 25:25Speaker 2: else say they traded Hunter Strickland too?
- 25:27Speaker 3: I think, right?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Who's at the Giants? The Giants?
- 25:31Speaker 4: Uh?
- 25:32Speaker 1: I know the three were Yeah, the three relievers were
- 25:34Speaker 1: Melance and Dyson and and Drew. That is what we're
- 25:37Speaker 1: listed on ESPN dot com.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I think Strickland is still with the Giants.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Anyways, scher Brons, who's your silver silver losers? I feel
- 25:48Speaker 1: like I know who you want to be your your gold?
- 25:50Speaker 3: You want me to say the Jays?
- 25:52Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Okay, I know you man, that's tough.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Probably Oakland, Yeah yeah, don't you just want to see
- 26:04Speaker 2: Oakland go for it just once?
- 26:06Speaker 3: Yeah, fucking go for it.
- 26:08Speaker 2: If you're Oakland and I get it the Bay Area,
- 26:10Speaker 2: don't you try and prime Madison bumguarn on her way crazy.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It's probably never do it. But what the fuck do
- 26:16Speaker 2: they care? If you're going through a rebuild, if you're
- 26:18Speaker 2: gonna decide treat it to anybody. At least they don't got
- 26:20Speaker 2: to pitch their play them every year except games. But
- 26:24Speaker 2: like I thought for sure, and of course Billy being
- 26:27Speaker 2: in that group, like they know, they just read their players,
- 26:31Speaker 2: set the team up for the second half, and let
- 26:32Speaker 2: them run wild.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Fans crazy, the players go crazy.
- 26:36Speaker 2: But you know, every once in a while, remember the
- 26:39Speaker 2: John Lester move years and years ago kind of worked out,
- 26:44Speaker 2: but like, just go for it, just everyone, you know,
- 26:47Speaker 2: fuck give you, give your pause a.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Tug, give it Tier.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I mean I don't really feel bad for him. I mean,
- 26:54Speaker 1: they got a movie, they got all that extra publicity
- 26:56Speaker 1: from you know what, they're trying what they're there, and
- 26:58Speaker 1: it's like it's a cool concept, but is it really
- 27:01Speaker 1: working at this point? Because how many World series do
- 27:04Speaker 1: they have with their new moneyball And I mean maybe
- 27:07Speaker 1: maybe their organization is just like, hey, we're just going
- 27:10Speaker 1: to be the team that just plays the numbers, plays
- 27:13Speaker 1: this cool story for the media. They're not selling out games,
- 27:16Speaker 1: not many teams are, but maybe that's just their point, like, hey,
- 27:19Speaker 1: you know, we we got a basis, we got this,
- 27:21Speaker 1: we got people following us just for the numbers. They
- 27:24Speaker 1: don't even come to the games. They're wearing age jerseys
- 27:26Speaker 1: while they're playing World of Warcraft looking at the numbers.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Because it's it's almost it seems like when you when
- 27:32Speaker 2: you watch those games, it seems like it's a hip
- 27:34Speaker 2: thing to do to go to the A's games, which
- 27:36Speaker 2: is great. If people are paying money, people are hanging out,
- 27:40Speaker 2: people are rooting for them, that's great. But at some
- 27:42Speaker 2: point to the course of this, and it's not like
- 27:44Speaker 2: they haven't made the playoffs. They made the playoffs many
- 27:46Speaker 2: times in the last you know, two decades, But go
- 27:50Speaker 2: for it.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Go for it.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I agree, they got to go all in one time.
- 27:54Speaker 1: And if they're fause they'd be they confess.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Their basement in the in the league, in the majors. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 2: you got really good players, you know, come on, man, put.
- 28:03Speaker 1: The put the other pieces in. All right, who's your
- 28:06Speaker 1: old metal loser.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Gold metal loser?
- 28:12Speaker 2: On the average, for the last five years, it has
- 28:14Speaker 2: been the Angels. This is not my pick, but this
- 28:17Speaker 2: has been the Angels because you got drought.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Yeah, we got Showy, but I get it.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Don't don't sell the farm just yet because show he
- 28:23Speaker 2: will be back to pitching. But is that going to
- 28:25Speaker 2: really work, who knows. I think the Angels would be
- 28:28Speaker 2: real stupid to go make a whole bunch of trades
- 28:31Speaker 2: this year because I think they're really close.
- 28:33Speaker 3: They have to get pitching.
- 28:35Speaker 1: They got to go soon, though.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Mark my words. If they trade Cole Calhoun next year,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I can't. I don't think he's a free agent. But
- 28:41Speaker 2: if they, if they still have him under under a contract,
- 28:44Speaker 2: they got to hold onto him. He is highly important
- 28:48Speaker 2: to that team. Anyways, My main loser I really kind
- 28:54Speaker 2: of want to say the Jays because I don't think
- 28:56Speaker 2: they got enough. I think they should have held on
- 28:58Speaker 2: to Stroman for at least until fucking you know, the deadline. Instead,
- 29:04Speaker 2: we'll trade it on a Sunday.
- 29:06Speaker 3: But I get it.
- 29:08Speaker 2: If you're gonna, if you're gonna rebuild, rebuild, and they're
- 29:12Speaker 2: gonna rebuild.
- 29:14Speaker 3: That being said, they I like justin Smoke.
- 29:16Speaker 2: They should have got rid of him, They should have
- 29:17Speaker 2: got rid of Glvis, get anybody, because if you're gonna rebuild,
- 29:20Speaker 2: fucking rebuild.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Biggest loser probably the Twins Twins.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I think the Indians are gonna catch him. I would
- 29:30Speaker 2: have liked kind of the same way as the A's right. Yeah,
- 29:33Speaker 2: the Twins are very welcome to make the playoffs. I
- 29:37Speaker 2: don't know if you can look at this because I
- 29:38Speaker 2: don't have my computer in front of me. Look look
- 29:41Speaker 2: up the Twins versus the Yankees in the postseason since
- 29:44Speaker 2: like two thousand and one, Baseball Reference dot Com will
- 29:47Speaker 2: have it. The stat is amazing, the win loss Twins
- 29:52Speaker 2: versus Yankees, and actually just the Twins versus Yankees. Did
- 29:55Speaker 2: you watch that game, that ten inn game or twelve
- 29:57Speaker 2: inning game the other night?
- 29:58Speaker 3: No, that the Yanks the Twins.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Much like the line in sixty one the movie there says,
- 30:05Speaker 2: why are people afraid of the Yankee? Or why do
- 30:06Speaker 2: people lose the Yankees? They're afraid of the penn stripes.
- 30:08Speaker 2: The Minnesota Twins is an organization, are terrified in the
- 30:11Speaker 2: New York Yankees record. They can't they can't beat the Yankees.
- 30:16Speaker 3: They can't.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And they've had some they've had some very very good teams.
- 30:20Speaker 2: But what the Twins haven't had is an ace in
- 30:23Speaker 2: years past since Johan Santana, true not a true ace.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Burrios is probably the closest thing, and he's probably a
- 30:32Speaker 2: true ace, you know, looking looking at it now. But
- 30:35Speaker 2: true ace also means established. You know, Barrios is really good,
- 30:40Speaker 2: has been, but you need someone who's there, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 2: go trade again, Minnesota, trade for bum Gunner.
- 30:46Speaker 1: See what happens, right, give it, give it a shot.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Thank Yous' record to get to the Twins in two thousand
- 30:51Speaker 1: and two. And this includes four soul crushing postseason series
- 30:53Speaker 1: from Minnesota's now eighty nine and thirty three.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Yes, like that is insane.
- 31:00Speaker 1: York is against Yeah, New York is eighty nine and
- 31:02Speaker 1: thirty three against Minnesota.
- 31:04Speaker 3: But if you if you look up postseason, yes, stupid.
- 31:08Speaker 1: It's a seven thirty winning percentage. Basically three wins out
- 31:12Speaker 1: of four. It calculates to one hundred and eighteen wins
- 31:15Speaker 1: and one hundred and sixty two game season and these.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Are fairly good.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Like, I mean, look look at the look at from
- 31:21Speaker 2: two thousand and two up to twenty ten, right, but
- 31:25Speaker 2: when you.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Look at the uh.
- 31:28Speaker 2: When you like, if you break all that down to
- 31:30Speaker 2: see how fucking bad it really is.
- 31:33Speaker 1: It's unbelievable.
- 31:35Speaker 3: It's fucking bad.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I'm believable. I wonder where the Twins just said. You
- 31:40Speaker 1: know what, maybe maybe we'll just be less embarrassed if
- 31:43Speaker 1: we don't make the playoffs because the chances are we
- 31:45Speaker 1: might have to play the Yankees, and we know we're
- 31:47Speaker 1: not going to beat them, right, But.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yet the Yankees didn't do fucking nothing. The Yankees would
- 31:53Speaker 2: be huge losers if they weren't so goddamn good already.
- 31:55Speaker 1: That's the thing. Yeah, I mean a lot of I mean,
- 31:58Speaker 1: the being in the New York market and even the Dodgers,
- 32:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean, the bigger market teams are
- 32:02Speaker 1: just getting shipped on because they didn't do anything. But
- 32:05Speaker 1: you gotta think, like they got Incarnacion in June, that's
- 32:08Speaker 1: a pretty goddamn big move.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Like who the Yankees can give up can at least
- 32:14Speaker 2: to get to the postseason. The Yankees can average four
- 32:17Speaker 2: five runs giving up a game, they're gonna they're still
- 32:20Speaker 2: gonna get the postseason.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, And that's that's the thing.
- 32:23Speaker 2: That's what these are based on for the most part,
- 32:26Speaker 2: Like can you get to the postseason? Yanks are getting
- 32:28Speaker 2: the postseason, no one's beating the Red Sox are having
- 32:31Speaker 2: the lull.
- 32:32Speaker 3: And the Rais just aren't good enough. It's true, I
- 32:34Speaker 3: thought I thought the Rais would do more.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean, but and it's funny to me
- 32:39Speaker 1: that they they always do the battle. How like Jeff
- 32:42Speaker 1: Low now out did Cashman again, you know what I mean,
- 32:45Speaker 1: Like it seems to be like this big battle that
- 32:47Speaker 1: Houston's getting these moves. But you got to think too,
- 32:49Speaker 1: even Greenky he had a fifty I think I already
- 32:52Speaker 1: had a fifteen team, no trade clause, which included the Yankees.
- 32:55Speaker 1: They weren't even running for him. Like there's there's people
- 32:58Speaker 1: out there that are like, nah, I'm not going to
- 32:59Speaker 1: that market. I'm not going to that organization. And being
- 33:02Speaker 1: a beard podcast, I wouldn't go there either, because you
- 33:04Speaker 1: can't grow goddamn beard and then to be a Yankee
- 33:07Speaker 1: that's bullshit, that's stupid. It's just another reason to hate them.
- 33:10Speaker 2: You're gonna tell me, now, great, we all know my
- 33:13Speaker 2: beard is not one to uh one to gog, but
- 33:17Speaker 2: it's growing nicely. I would say, yeah, you know, but
- 33:21Speaker 2: like you're gonna tell me how I can and cannot
- 33:23Speaker 2: wear facial hair.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I mean, yes, I granted they signed the paycheck. You
- 33:28Speaker 1: know what you're getting into, but.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I mean I suppose that they want.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I mean, there's a whole sport, there's a whole tradition,
- 33:33Speaker 1: that rolls in many sports. For the playoff Beard, you're
- 33:36Speaker 1: taking that away from it. Yeah, where the organization that
- 33:38Speaker 1: has you know, the most World series and history And
- 33:42Speaker 1: maybe we don't need the playoff Beard, but fuck you,
- 33:45Speaker 1: you need a playoff Beard. Everybody should have the right
- 33:47Speaker 1: to grow beard.
- 33:48Speaker 2: And players were different than now. Players are more individual
- 33:52Speaker 2: aspos you know, like you watch you watch those.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Older teams of the sixties.
- 33:57Speaker 2: In earlier, like if you were a baseball player, you
- 34:00Speaker 2: worked on a farm, you worked off season, you were.
- 34:04Speaker 3: You were a man among the boys.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Then you get into the seventies and eighties, it's rough
- 34:08Speaker 2: and tumbled.
- 34:09Speaker 3: The eighties were very rough.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Yankees sucked in the eighties aside from their championship championship
- 34:15Speaker 2: run rate in the beginning, Yankees horrible mm hmmm.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Because the game had changed a little bit. It was
- 34:20Speaker 3: pretty rough, although that kind of went into the seventies.
- 34:24Speaker 3: But nineties. Yeah, the only.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Reason they won them in the late nineties in the
- 34:29Speaker 2: early two thousands because they were homegrown.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Sure you got crops for that one, but now you
- 34:35Speaker 3: know they're they're fantastic.
- 34:37Speaker 2: But you know, I think I think there's something to
- 34:40Speaker 2: be said for the way the Astros have done it
- 34:42Speaker 2: and the Cubs have done it, just you know, letting
- 34:44Speaker 2: people be themselves exactly.
- 34:46Speaker 1: And it's good. It's good for it's good for the market,
- 34:49Speaker 1: it's good for the teams, it's good for you know
- 34:50Speaker 1: a lot of people like Jersey sales. You know, there's
- 34:53Speaker 1: there's a couple of very marketable players. And you could
- 34:56Speaker 1: take a guy Charlie Blackman. He grew out a sweeteard.
- 34:59Speaker 1: People didn't real you know, you know he's got that beard.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Now he's got that cave man what going on for?
- 35:03Speaker 1: You know when they were hot, when he was hot,
- 35:05Speaker 1: that's what they talked about. Like he he became you
- 35:08Speaker 1: know something else. And I'm gonna say it's because of
- 35:10Speaker 1: the beard.
- 35:11Speaker 3: It's market like you said, it's marketable.
- 35:13Speaker 2: He without that beard, he probably performs similar to what
- 35:19Speaker 2: he's to what he's done.
- 35:20Speaker 1: But he's in Colorado. He's got to stay warm, that fact.
- 35:24Speaker 2: But I think he performed nearly as well as he
- 35:30Speaker 2: does and nowhere near as exciting as he is without
- 35:33Speaker 2: the beard.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Yep, there's just no way it's him exactly. And that
- 35:38Speaker 1: and let's let's cycle back real quick on your on
- 35:41Speaker 1: your stroman I know you're I know you're pissed about
- 35:43Speaker 1: it in the tantrum and they didn't think they got
- 35:46Speaker 1: enough about it. But as a Mets fan, and they
- 35:49Speaker 1: didn't really they didn't move really anything. What about a
- 35:52Speaker 1: twenty twenty rotation of de gram Cynegard, Stroman, Wheeler and Matts. Yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 1: I mean that's a pretty impressive assuming they stay healthy.
- 36:03Speaker 1: They pitched to their ability. You know, they get some bats.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I mean, you still obviously have to hit, but they
- 36:08Speaker 1: got some young talent. I'm not saying that they're going
- 36:10Speaker 1: to go out and win the World Cheries in twenty twenty,
- 36:12Speaker 1: but that's a pretty decent lineup. That's a good rotation.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Well when you when you look at it in fifteen,
- 36:19Speaker 2: everything aligned. Plus of course David Murphy forgot who David
- 36:24Speaker 2: Murphy was. Although no offense to David Murphy because he's
- 36:27Speaker 2: fantastic and he has one of the prettiest upper cut.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Left handed swings I've ever seen.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Truth.
- 36:32Speaker 3: But you know, they were finally healthy.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and if you could just get all those starters
- 36:38Speaker 2: healthy again, pitching in defense wins true. Now they just
- 36:43Speaker 2: need defense, and I'm telling you Stroman's really good. When
- 36:46Speaker 2: Stroman wants to be really good. See Phillipson and Buarda
- 36:50Speaker 2: Perez were talking this morning on MLB dot com not
- 36:53Speaker 2: to plug but favorite channel.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Plug. You know.
- 36:57Speaker 3: The Stroman kept saying he wanted to sign with the
- 37:00Speaker 3: jas E RA. The past few years has been up
- 37:03Speaker 3: and down, up and down.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Well, Strowman sees himself as a I'm sure multi million
- 37:07Speaker 2: dollar you know, two number million a year, and the
- 37:13Speaker 2: J's are going.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Well, wait a minute, Bud, Yeah.
- 37:15Speaker 2: You're you're really good this year and you're really really
- 37:17Speaker 2: good two years ago.
- 37:18Speaker 3: But in between that and the ra of four us, yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 3: like who's uh, who are we getting? And that's fair?
- 37:29Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, I mean you don't want to money.
- 37:33Speaker 2: But you know, the only thing with the J's to
- 37:36Speaker 2: me is just like, well, the complete rebuild doesn't make
- 37:42Speaker 2: sense because at some point, let's say, let's say they
- 37:45Speaker 2: are a little bit better or in a you know,
- 37:48Speaker 2: a year or two earlier, they're real close, but then
- 37:50Speaker 2: they gotta sign somebody.
- 37:51Speaker 3: You don't sign a good starting pitcher.
- 37:54Speaker 2: For any less than you were going to sign Stroman anyways,
- 37:57Speaker 2: or sign you know, the money. You were going to
- 38:00Speaker 2: find those guys too. In three or four years is
- 38:02Speaker 2: the money you're going to sign for a number four
- 38:03Speaker 2: or five starter. True, you could probably keep somebody, but
- 38:08Speaker 2: if you're not, gonna make sure you get a good
- 38:10Speaker 2: package back and we'll see.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah. No, And I mean, like you said, and you
- 38:15Speaker 1: don't know too, and a lot of or what's kind
- 38:17Speaker 1: of crazy too. And what you don't see a lot
- 38:19Speaker 1: in baseball is the draft picks because they're almost irrelevant.
- 38:23Speaker 1: You don't know what's going to happen. And trading draft
- 38:25Speaker 1: picks and the majors for guys that are going to
- 38:29Speaker 1: probably be in the minors for a long time. It's
- 38:32Speaker 1: not as prevalent, you know, and as football and stuff.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Because somebody was asking me the other day, they're like, man,
- 38:36Speaker 1: you got this, but why is there never any draft
- 38:39Speaker 1: picks included in baseball? Well, it's not like hockey, and
- 38:42Speaker 1: it's not like uh football and basketball and stuff like that.
- 38:46Speaker 1: There's just so many teams and players and minor leagues and.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Right there's a huge there's a huge minor league system.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Process, that's why baseball is the hardest sport. Very few
- 38:58Speaker 2: can come out of college or high school play in
- 39:00Speaker 2: the in the MLB, where I mean you get not
- 39:05Speaker 2: high schoolers, but college football players go right to being
- 39:08Speaker 2: some of the best stars.
- 39:09Speaker 3: In the NFL. YEP, college hockey players, same thing. College
- 39:13Speaker 3: basketball players end up being the stars of the NBA.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I don't know if I just said that, right, but
- 39:19Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it makes sense. We get it.
- 39:23Speaker 3: No, thanks, it's a major league.
- 39:27Speaker 2: There's very few that go right from high school to
- 39:31Speaker 2: the majors or even college to the majors.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:35Speaker 3: My boy John Nolar did it though, but he's not
- 39:38Speaker 3: really my boy. I don't know him.
- 39:39Speaker 1: He's not.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean he rocked a helmet like a champ.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Right, and now you get to do that in first
- 39:45Speaker 1: base when you're coaching I do. It is very weird.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You should get a little or you just get a
- 39:51Speaker 1: sticker put it on your helmet.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I should not fifteen years, but fifteen years.
- 39:57Speaker 1: That's how long you've been coaching.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Wow, it's impressive.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that would have been my fifteenth if I
- 40:04Speaker 1: didn't quit. Right, we're old, but we're getting old.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Ye.
- 40:09Speaker 1: If you're too hot or you're too cold, there's only
- 40:11Speaker 1: two numbers you need to know. The Merkley brothers, Adam
- 40:13Speaker 1: and Ben have been supporting the North Country since twenty fifteen.
- 40:17Speaker 1: They're all you're gonna need for residential and commercial needs.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Call Adam at three one five, six hundred twelve forty
- 40:22Speaker 1: eight or Ben at three one five, six hundred twelve
- 40:25Speaker 1: forty four. Would you rather go to jail for one
- 40:30Speaker 1: year or go to jail with a Rubik's cube and
- 40:32Speaker 1: you can't leave until you solve it?
- 40:34Speaker 3: Give me the fucking year, bud.
- 40:35Speaker 1: That's what I think too. I think I take the
- 40:37Speaker 1: year year.
- 40:38Speaker 3: I'm not smart enough. Some people would be like, yeah, yep,
- 40:41Speaker 3: and I mean like, and I'm a smart dude.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I feel like a year though, three hundred and sixty
- 40:46Speaker 1: five days of working at it, I feel like you could.
- 40:48Speaker 1: But what if what if you get out after the
- 40:50Speaker 1: year anyways?
- 40:51Speaker 3: No, because why do I?
- 40:53Speaker 1: Oh you would?
- 40:55Speaker 3: I'd go crazy before the year ended.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I'd go crazy within the first month trying to fake
- 41:00Speaker 2: that out and get out of jail because, no doubt,
- 41:02Speaker 2: knowing you and we're friends, you're putting me in the
- 41:04Speaker 2: federal appeunt me in the ass prison and I need
- 41:07Speaker 2: to get out of.
- 41:08Speaker 1: There, not that county ship. And you're you're you're a
- 41:10Speaker 1: little guy. They're probably gonna really like you.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Oh, they're gonna love me all right.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Would you rather have everyone talk about you behind your
- 41:17Speaker 1: back or not talk about you at all?
- 41:20Speaker 5: Talk about me and behind my back at least at
- 41:23Speaker 5: least I know, at least I know I'm making an
- 41:27Speaker 5: impression if they If people don't talk about you behind
- 41:29Speaker 5: your back, and now we all know you know me.
- 41:33Speaker 2: I am a huge people person. I understand, I understand people.
- 41:37Speaker 2: I've been in the people service.
- 41:38Speaker 1: For these, servicing people forever.
- 41:43Speaker 3: But if you're not making an impression on people, then
- 41:47Speaker 3: you're not existing in life. Yeah.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Nothing, You're just going through the motions.
- 41:52Speaker 2: You're going through the motions I would I would rather
- 41:54Speaker 2: be made fun of than not noticed.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Absolutely. Oh, I know what you are gonna pick for
- 42:00Speaker 1: this one. I feel like I feel like, yeah, it's
- 42:02Speaker 1: an obvious choice, and I feel like you might even
- 42:04Speaker 1: have one of these. Would you rather vomit every time
- 42:06Speaker 1: someone mentions McDonald's or wear a fedora for the rest
- 42:09Speaker 1: of your life?
- 42:11Speaker 3: I could rock right now, But.
- 42:13Speaker 1: That's what That's what I was thinking you were going with.
- 42:15Speaker 3: I am McDonald's today.
- 42:17Speaker 1: I love it, yep, and imagine every but how many
- 42:20Speaker 1: times do you hear somebody mention McDonald's, there is a lot.
- 42:23Speaker 2: At least once a day someone in my work gets
- 42:26Speaker 2: questions if they're going there or not.
- 42:29Speaker 1: So then so you puke once a day or where
- 42:33Speaker 1: you're just gonna rock.
- 42:34Speaker 3: You want to know why pukin's not fun?
- 42:36Speaker 2: It's not because I'm afraid of getting the bat out.
- 42:39Speaker 2: It's because I don't like tearing up. Yeah, there is
- 42:42Speaker 2: a man with a soul or a good gut that
- 42:44Speaker 2: doesn't tear.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Up when they But your guy, but your guy that
- 42:47Speaker 1: likes right, how are you gonna wear a Fedora coach
- 42:50Speaker 1: in baseball?
- 42:51Speaker 3: You have to, I'll figure it out helmet.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're a guy that likes to mix up hats, like, oh,
- 42:59Speaker 1: you can't. You gotta wear a door.
- 43:01Speaker 3: That's a good point.
- 43:02Speaker 2: But I can wear for doors with every fucking logo
- 43:05Speaker 2: I want.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess it's not the same Fedora. It's just
- 43:11Speaker 1: a Fedora. Hey, all right, all right, Well here's one
- 43:17Speaker 1: for you. Would you rather have your Internet search history
- 43:20Speaker 1: go public or your sex tape go viral?
- 43:23Speaker 3: Oh? Sex tape viral?
- 43:24Speaker 1: But yeah, I think I'm the same page because especially
- 43:28Speaker 1: like if you get a sex tape, and you edit
- 43:29Speaker 1: it properly like it's gonna be good publicity. I know
- 43:32Speaker 1: you're married, it doesn't matter for you. But it's one
- 43:34Speaker 1: sex tape. You start seeing what you're searching for on
- 43:37Speaker 1: the internet. I mean, not that you're in the weird ship,
- 43:41Speaker 1: but there's some fucking ship that could get some people
- 43:43Speaker 1: in trouble.
- 43:44Speaker 3: But here's the deal. I don't need to edit it.
- 43:51Speaker 1: All right, Logan. Guys, Logan is going on record saying
- 43:54Speaker 1: he doesn't need his sex tape edit.
- 43:56Speaker 2: I'm not saying I'm porn star. I'm saying we do
- 43:59Speaker 2: it right. I don't need to edit it. For this reason.
- 44:02Speaker 3: We do it right. I definitely don't want my history
- 44:08Speaker 3: out because I do it right.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But I mean, technically, Google and police and all these people,
- 44:14Speaker 1: they're pretty much they're searching the Internet for it anyways.
- 44:17Speaker 1: But all right, you're the sex tape. You can't take
- 44:19Speaker 1: it back. Nope, that's your answer, because you do it right.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I do it right.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Beside you, would you rather have every other single person
- 44:27Speaker 1: in the world be all male or all female? I
- 44:31Speaker 1: mean that seems pretty obvious for us, right.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Look, because there's females that love baseball, they love beer,
- 44:37Speaker 2: they love whiskey.
- 44:38Speaker 3: That's why I have a wife who loves them. So
- 44:40Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 44:40Speaker 1: You're gonna be able to You're gonna be able. You're
- 44:42Speaker 1: going to be the only person that can reproduce. And
- 44:46Speaker 1: then eventually there's gonna be a males again. It's gonna
- 44:47Speaker 1: be a cycle. It's gonna be a crazy cycle. You're
- 44:50Speaker 1: gonna be like that one bull that just gets to
- 44:53Speaker 1: the entire I'll die out of exhaustion then within the
- 44:58Speaker 1: first month. All right, last last this is I guess
- 45:03Speaker 1: this isn't really a wood you're rather, but it's a
- 45:05Speaker 1: question that I wrote down in the wood your rather section.
- 45:08Speaker 1: So you get a billion dollars, but you can never
- 45:11Speaker 1: leave the state of Ohio. Do you take it?
- 45:14Speaker 3: Jeez? I guess I don't know enough about Ohio.
- 45:16Speaker 1: About that, I mean, if you don't know enough about Ohio,
- 45:19Speaker 1: I think it says it all. But it's a billion
- 45:21Speaker 1: with B but you can never leave the state. There's
- 45:24Speaker 1: no Florida, there's no Italy, there's no Ottawa. You can't
- 45:28Speaker 1: go to a Jay's game.
- 45:29Speaker 3: No, no, If I can't go to a Jay's game,
- 45:31Speaker 3: I'm saying, but.
- 45:32Speaker 1: You have a billion dollars. I don't care they have
- 45:35Speaker 1: to come to Ohio.
- 45:36Speaker 3: I don't care. Here's why.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Hey, I can't go to a Jay's game unless it's
- 45:39Speaker 2: in Cleveland or Cincinnati.
- 45:41Speaker 3: They don't play them enough.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Yep.
- 45:43Speaker 3: I like I like the area. I mean, I like
- 45:46Speaker 3: my friends. I couldn't go to reunion.
- 45:48Speaker 1: They have a billion dollars. You can fly.
- 45:52Speaker 3: My parents are too cheap to come see me for.
- 45:54Speaker 1: A while, But you have a billion dollars.
- 45:57Speaker 3: What are you gonna do with a billion dollars and.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Fucking you you'd have to just build and make it
- 46:04Speaker 1: come to you. Look, I'm not I'm not saying I'm
- 46:06Speaker 1: for it. I'm just I'm just trying to.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Go for gotics. The dark cartel guy in Mexico there,
- 46:14Speaker 3: he had billion dollars. He got killed. Don't make everything.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Somebody, you know, I mean somebody. I mean they're burning
- 46:20Speaker 1: Lebron Jersey's probably still they're gonna find you. They're gonna
- 46:22Speaker 1: end up raiding your house or I don't know. I
- 46:26Speaker 1: think I think it would end very very badly.
- 46:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna say no, I'll forego the billion dollars.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Although Dave Steve did pitch a no hitter versus Indians.
- 46:35Speaker 1: In Ohio see. But who knows that you would be
- 46:38Speaker 1: there because you had a billion dollars. Maybe you just
- 46:40Speaker 1: be weird at the press, and maybe it'd be like
- 46:43Speaker 1: you just have you go, Hugh Hefner. You would just
- 46:47Speaker 1: have all the clocks removed, you'd have no windows, you'd
- 46:50Speaker 1: have everything. You would not know what was going on
- 46:51Speaker 1: in the mansion to be all, to be all, he'd
- 46:55Speaker 1: have staff twenty four.
- 46:56Speaker 3: To seven, and I couldn't pull my kids away.
- 46:58Speaker 1: True, I pitt you they be all right for a
- 47:00Speaker 1: billion dollars.
- 47:01Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm saying, uh, well, otherwise we would have
- 47:04Speaker 2: already moved it either out of our bosston.
- 47:06Speaker 3: I'm saying now, I'll forego with a billion dollars.
- 47:09Speaker 1: That's a hard no.
- 47:10Speaker 3: That's a hard no. All right.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Circling back, what do you have for your own thoughts?
- 47:14Speaker 1: Do you remember your You're in You're in my thoughts,
- 47:17Speaker 1: You're in my thoughts.
- 47:19Speaker 2: I suppose when I pee, I don't know about today,
- 47:22Speaker 2: but the other day I do remember peeing and thinking
- 47:25Speaker 2: about how sad Mike Trout's baseball.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Career is bad.
- 47:29Speaker 1: So you're standing there rocking a piss thinking about Mike
- 47:33Speaker 1: Trout's baseball career.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes I don't rock the piss.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Sometimes I you stand there and hope that it dribbles out.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Sometimes I have to wait a little bit. I'm thirty eight,
- 47:42Speaker 3: I drink a lot, which the drinking a lot.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Part doesn't really mean it's dribbling out, But then I'm
- 47:48Speaker 2: not a shape part does I'm thinking about how bad
- 47:51Speaker 2: Mike Trout's career is bad, which is an odd thing
- 47:54Speaker 2: to think.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, but I mean, I guess I can see
- 47:57Speaker 1: the correlation. Like Mike Trout uses a bat, you're up
- 48:00Speaker 1: to bat at the pisser thinking swinging it around like
- 48:03Speaker 1: a bat and baseball and Mike, I mean, as long
- 48:08Speaker 1: as you're not rocking as with a boner thinking about
- 48:10Speaker 1: Mike Trout.
- 48:12Speaker 2: If Mike Trout was comparing himself to me, he's doing
- 48:15Speaker 2: very well. If Mike Trout is comparing himself to everybody
- 48:19Speaker 2: else in the major leagues as far as skill, he's
- 48:21Speaker 2: doing very well.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Yep. But if Mike Trout is comparing himself in the
- 48:25Speaker 3: major leagues to everyone who's ever won anything, he he's
- 48:30Speaker 3: really really upset.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but he it seems to be healthy, and he's playing,
- 48:36Speaker 1: and he does seem to be having a terrible that.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Rings he doesn't even have a playoff win. True, I'm
- 48:41Speaker 2: trying to be all commercial.
- 48:43Speaker 3: And know all that no.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Best team in baseball, best player, best player in baseball,
- 48:49Speaker 5: never has whatever I'm thinking for the person himself, he
- 48:52Speaker 5: looks like he might be as loyal as possible.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Yep, anybody, Yeah, yeah, at what costs? Like how loyal
- 49:00Speaker 1: will he stay? Is it gonna get to a point
- 49:01Speaker 1: where he's you don't want a chance to win? I
- 49:03Speaker 1: can't grow beard anyways. I'm going to fucking Yankees.
- 49:05Speaker 2: I I can't guarantee I can't even guarantee my kids
- 49:10Speaker 2: will like me to mom.
- 49:11Speaker 1: So like I can't guarantee that you're gonna be able
- 49:13Speaker 1: to pee either. Because this is my thoughts.
- 49:17Speaker 2: But I just think that when he whenever Trout's opt
- 49:22Speaker 2: out clause is, he's gone. If they don't make a
- 49:25Speaker 2: push again, why the Angels should make should have went
- 49:28Speaker 2: all for it? Yep, Like, come on, man, it's not
- 49:33Speaker 2: about money. It's about making money. Later the Angels World Series,
- 49:38Speaker 2: Mike Trout, they might win three, they might win four
- 49:41Speaker 2: or five.
- 49:42Speaker 3: He literally could save a franchise. I mean he kind
- 49:46Speaker 3: of already did.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Yeah, looking up real quick, apparently his contract is twelve year,
- 49:52Speaker 1: four hundred and twenty six million, So that means he'll
- 49:54Speaker 1: be in an Angel's uniform at this rate through the
- 49:57Speaker 1: twenty thirty season. Right, So they're even if he goes there,
- 50:02Speaker 1: he'll be about what thirty seven ish twenty thirty? They got,
- 50:06Speaker 1: they that they got a couple of years. They got
- 50:08Speaker 1: to go all in at least one, like you said,
- 50:09Speaker 1: they got to try it.
- 50:10Speaker 3: But when's his first opt out?
- 50:12Speaker 1: Doesn't tell I didn't That was just a quick headline of.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Ye, he has I can't speak, but I'm almost positive
- 50:20Speaker 2: he has opt out clause and he's.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Gonna if they don't make a push, he'd be stupid
- 50:24Speaker 3: if he didn't.
- 50:25Speaker 2: True, he deserves to himself an opportunity to win a ring,
- 50:30Speaker 2: at least make the goddamn postseason. Yeah, the fact that
- 50:33Speaker 2: they've only made one postseason and what the seven.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Years has been the league?
- 50:38Speaker 1: That's on?
- 50:38Speaker 3: Yeah, that's is it seven? No, it's gonna be more
- 50:41Speaker 3: than that.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Yeah, if he's twenty seven, I mean when he come in. Oh,
- 50:44Speaker 1: they selected him in two thousand and nine with the
- 50:46Speaker 1: first round. He made a brief Major League appearance in
- 50:49Speaker 1: twenty eleven before coming up. I play twelve. That makes
- 50:52Speaker 1: more sense.
- 50:53Speaker 3: So eight years, sevenfold.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Yeah, seven years, world's largest sports on tracked four hundred
- 51:01Speaker 1: and thirty million dollars.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Dude, that beats messy.
- 51:06Speaker 2: It's that's if that's in fact, is the world's largest
- 51:10Speaker 2: sports contract.
- 51:12Speaker 3: That beats messy.
- 51:13Speaker 1: I can't wait until he grows a beard. When you
- 51:17Speaker 1: grow a beard, come on, Mike Trout, you've gotta you
- 51:19Speaker 1: make four hundred and thirty million dollars. Hire me a
- 51:21Speaker 1: beer coach.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Dude, you might be onto something there.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Imagine he doesn't. He's got patches, Yeah, he's got a
- 51:30Speaker 1: little patches on the cheek, but he could he could
- 51:32Speaker 1: grow out a scraggly little beard.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Looking at the baby, the beautiful baby face that Mike
- 51:37Speaker 2: Trout has, I don't know if he can really grow
- 51:40Speaker 2: a beard.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I see. I mean there's a couple of pictures
- 51:42Speaker 1: with some stubble, a little patchy, but it would come
- 51:45Speaker 1: in white trashy.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Dude, not white trashy.
- 51:48Speaker 1: When Trout he wouldn't, he just wouldn't rock it. You ever,
- 51:52Speaker 1: just been sitting there thinking, man, I could you ever
- 51:54Speaker 1: just been sitting there thinking, man, I could go for
- 51:57Speaker 1: a nice cold beer. Well, I have the spot for you. You
- 52:00Speaker 1: need to check out Shars Bar, located in Marley, New York,
- 52:02Speaker 1: serving the North Country's best pizza roles. Kitchens open Tuesday
- 52:06Speaker 1: through Friday, and the beer is always cold. Stop in
- 52:08Speaker 1: or check them out on Sharsbarmarley dot com or on Facebook.
- 52:13Speaker 1: All right, now it's time to check out beer news.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Let's see what beards are in the news. We're gonna
- 52:18Speaker 1: start out with Julian Castro and the twin brother Jokin Castro.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Apparently Joquin Joe, Queen Joquin. I'm gonna go with Joquin Castro.
- 52:27Speaker 1: He's the twin brother of the twenty twenty candidate, Julian Castro.
- 52:31Speaker 1: He said he grew a beer to help anyone avoid
- 52:33Speaker 1: confusing the two, which apparently happens very often. Yeah, I mean,
- 52:36Speaker 1: I'm looking at a picture. They look pretty similar. They
- 52:39Speaker 1: are twins. The Democratic congressman who served since twenty thirteen,
- 52:44Speaker 1: joke last week that he was experimenting with facial hair
- 52:46Speaker 1: to differentiate himself from his brother, who's currently on the
- 52:48Speaker 1: campaign trails. Seeking the Democratic presidential nomination. He was quoted saying,
- 52:53Speaker 1: I hadn't shaved in like three days, and I decided
- 52:54Speaker 1: I just grow the beard back. It does help so
- 52:56Speaker 1: that people don't always think I'm running for president, he said,
- 52:59Speaker 1: joking with the US Today's staff. The rep said people
- 53:04Speaker 1: confuse him with his brother in public places like the airport,
- 53:07Speaker 1: are on the street just about every day. You know what,
- 53:10Speaker 1: Abraham Lincoln, as we covered in the episode two, he
- 53:13Speaker 1: grows beard out to win the presidential campaign. Why don't
- 53:15Speaker 1: they reverse roles? And why isn't doesn't Julian grow out
- 53:19Speaker 1: his beard hit the campaign trail, see and just and
- 53:22Speaker 1: just grow that beard. I'll tell you what, we get
- 53:24Speaker 1: a nice bearded president. I'm probably gonna I'm probably gonna
- 53:27Speaker 1: jump on board. I'm gonna have to vote for him. Right.
- 53:29Speaker 1: If anybody out there running for president, or any congressmen
- 53:32Speaker 1: or anything you want you want that beard to look good,
- 53:35Speaker 1: hit me up matdebeard laws dot com. Don't worry, I
- 53:37Speaker 1: got you back. In other news, it's it's a bit
- 53:40Speaker 1: of a sad news for US bearded men. Anytime that
- 53:42Speaker 1: a bearded brother loses his beard, it's it's a sad time.
- 53:45Speaker 1: But this guy, he did it for a great cause.
- 53:47Speaker 1: He did it for a great reason, though I guess
- 53:49Speaker 1: we shouldn't be that sad man who had spent the
- 53:52Speaker 1: last nine years growing a beard that measured down to
- 53:54Speaker 1: his waist had it shaved off for charot. The story
- 53:57Speaker 1: is covered by the BBC dot com, so if you
- 53:59Speaker 1: want to see full article, I will link it on
- 54:01Speaker 1: some social media. I don't know the exact length. Apparently
- 54:05Speaker 1: it was it was too much article. There is some pictures.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Michael Legay, sorry if I if I said your name wrong,
- 54:12Speaker 1: my man, there is a before and after picture. It's
- 54:15Speaker 1: an impressive beard. He's got the forking in the middle.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Probably probably would have used a little more oil, a
- 54:21Speaker 1: lot more butter, get the chin moisturized prevent that forking.
- 54:26Speaker 1: But it's an impressive beard for sure. Could he use
- 54:28Speaker 1: some beard laws? Help reach out to me next time, Michael,
- 54:31Speaker 1: I got you, but yeah. Michael Legay of Rotherham, South
- 54:35Speaker 1: Yorkshire said his beard eventually became like having a sleeping
- 54:38Speaker 1: bag on your face. It comes weeks after he was
- 54:40Speaker 1: placed after he placed seventh in the World Beard and
- 54:43Speaker 1: Mustache Competition in Antwerp in the full natural over thirty
- 54:47Speaker 1: centimeter category. He said it it was shocked to his children,
- 54:50Speaker 1: who have never seen him clean shaven. Mister Legay's facial hair,
- 54:53Speaker 1: once dubbed Yorkshire's greatest beard, also previously won him the
- 54:58Speaker 1: title the British Beard Champion three year old. He works
- 55:01Speaker 1: for a gas company, BOC and Rotherham said his bosses
- 55:03Speaker 1: had offered to double whatever cash he raised for prostate
- 55:07Speaker 1: cancer in the UK. He was able to raise fifteen
- 55:09Speaker 1: and twenty five pounds of his five thousand dollars fund
- 55:12Speaker 1: raising target. He also said the recent hot weather really
- 55:15Speaker 1: made him just take the beard off. We all know
- 55:17Speaker 1: from the previous article from lip beard and that it
- 55:19Speaker 1: helps repel. I mean it helps shade. This man had
- 55:21Speaker 1: a nine year old beard. I mean it's pretty hefty.
- 55:25Speaker 1: I'm curious what he did A great thing, you know.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Obviously Beard Laws goes through and helps raise money for
- 55:31Speaker 1: cancer as well. He helped to raise money for prostate cancer.
- 55:34Speaker 1: That's an amazing thing. If I see an article where
- 55:37Speaker 1: he's still taking money, I will link it on social
- 55:39Speaker 1: media and on the website beard laws dot com and
- 55:42Speaker 1: hopefully hopefully if you're out there listening or if anybody
- 55:45Speaker 1: can get this to Michael, let him know. I'd like
- 55:48Speaker 1: to send him a beard law shirt for having a
- 55:50Speaker 1: nine year old beard gone and for all his efforts.
- 55:53Speaker 1: So somebody can get that to him, that would be amazing.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I want to get him a shirt. Or for some reason,
- 55:56Speaker 1: you're listening to this, Mike, I gotta make you look
- 55:58Speaker 1: way tough with the beard, brother, start growing that back.
- 56:01Speaker 1: We'll see in nine years beard. But yeah, get a
- 56:03Speaker 1: hold of me. We'll get your beard lash some beard
- 56:04Speaker 1: lost wag. Football season is almost back. College football is
- 56:08Speaker 1: just about kicking off. We're a couple of weeks away
- 56:10Speaker 1: from preseason football. So beerd News Sports News. It's a
- 56:15Speaker 1: two for one. So let's talk about the Minnesota Vikings
- 56:18Speaker 1: veteran Griffin. His beard, no gray, it just looks good.
- 56:21Speaker 1: He's got a nice, you know, probably maybe an inch
- 56:24Speaker 1: or two business beard, and he's just rocking it. I
- 56:27Speaker 1: mean ever since Griffin. He's the longest ten yured Viking,
- 56:30Speaker 1: having completed his first practice of training camp for a
- 56:32Speaker 1: tenth time ten years.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 1: He's a defensive end who has sixty six and a
- 56:36Speaker 1: half career sex, the seventh most in franchise history. He
- 56:39Speaker 1: made it very clear in his press conference he's got
- 56:41Speaker 1: no gray beard after doing after doiling out beard tip
- 56:45Speaker 1: at the request of guest reporter Anthony Barr. Moments after
- 56:47Speaker 1: shedding his helmet and practice jersey, bar entered the throng
- 56:50Speaker 1: of media members and asked Griffin what he's doing half
- 56:52Speaker 1: his beard looking so good? Barbara asked, or Bar asked.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I noticed she came back and had a nice full beard.
- 56:57Speaker 1: I was curious, what products do you use and do
- 56:58Speaker 1: you have any tips for someone like me that's aspiring
- 57:00Speaker 1: to get a beard like that? Hit me up, Anthony
- 57:02Speaker 1: bar Same role applies as if anybody knows Mike the
- 57:05Speaker 1: nine year beard man, Anthony bar look me up. All right,
- 57:07Speaker 1: maybe I'm gonna reach out to you on social media.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I'd love to give you some beard tips. Let Matt
- 57:11Speaker 1: from Beard Loss hook you up. All right, my beard
- 57:14Speaker 1: brother find me. I got you. But Griffin explained the
- 57:19Speaker 1: following and a quote. I use Scotch Porter. It's a
- 57:21Speaker 1: little shampoo for your beard, and then they have a conditioner,
- 57:24Speaker 1: and I also use their beard cream and they and
- 57:27Speaker 1: the sheene they have. Griffin said, on top of that,
- 57:29Speaker 1: I put a little black castor oil. Yeah, I've got
- 57:32Speaker 1: a little routine and then I use a wooden brush
- 57:34Speaker 1: and I just brush it down. Barr had a follow
- 57:36Speaker 1: up question, what does the wooden brush do if you
- 57:38Speaker 1: use a regular brush and makes your beard puff out
- 57:40Speaker 1: like an afro? I don't want my beard like that.
- 57:42Speaker 1: The wooden brushes makes the hair laid down, and that's
- 57:44Speaker 1: an important thing, right. Bristole brushes doesn't matter that it's
- 57:48Speaker 1: a wooden handle. The brush. Yeah, it's a it's a
- 57:51Speaker 1: bar bristole brush, guarantee it. I also think you need
- 57:54Speaker 1: the comb, comb it, brush it, and what that does
- 57:57Speaker 1: is it trains your beard. Little beard tips. If you
- 57:59Speaker 1: want more beer tips, check out beard loss dot com.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Check out the beer tip section. And that's going to
- 58:03Speaker 1: conclude it for beard News. Hope you guys enjoyed, stay
- 58:06Speaker 1: tuned for the next segment. It's now time for one
- 58:09Speaker 1: of my favorite and newly added segments, the Featured Beard.
- 58:14Speaker 1: It's now time for one of my favorite new segments.
- 58:18Speaker 1: It's the featured Beard of the day. Every episode we
- 58:21Speaker 1: are going to feature a beard. Talk about it, find
- 58:23Speaker 1: an article, let you know about it. Some of the
- 58:26Speaker 1: beards you're probably going to know, like Abraham Lincoln, who
- 58:29Speaker 1: you know many people know that whether you're American Canadian
- 58:32Speaker 1: doesn't matter. You know Abraham Lincoln. He had a beard
- 58:34Speaker 1: that was on episode two. If you haven't seen it,
- 58:36Speaker 1: go check it out. Today's featured beard on episode three
- 58:40Speaker 1: is Frederick Engles. The magnificent beard of socialist thinker Frederick
- 58:45Speaker 1: Engles has inspired a climbing wall sculpture in Salford. It's
- 58:48Speaker 1: a sixteen foot or five meter beard statue, a symbol
- 58:52Speaker 1: of wisdom and learning, and it's going to stand on
- 58:54Speaker 1: the University of Salford's campus. Arts Company Arts Company Engine
- 58:59Speaker 1: who are behind the piece of the idea came from
- 59:01Speaker 1: a nineteen eighties plan to relocate an eastern block statue
- 59:04Speaker 1: of the thinker to Manchester Angles, who wrote the Communist Angles,
- 59:09Speaker 1: who wrote the Communist Manifesto with Karl Marx, lived in
- 59:12Speaker 1: the area from the eighteen forties onwards. Angles, who wrote
- 59:16Speaker 1: the Communist Manifesto with Karl Marx, lived in the area
- 59:18Speaker 1: from the eighteen forties onwards. The sculpture is going to
- 59:21Speaker 1: depict the nose and whiskers of the father of the
- 59:24Speaker 1: Marxist theory and be situated on the University's peel Park
- 59:27Speaker 1: campus in twenty sixteen. How amazing would it be to
- 59:30Speaker 1: have such an amazing beard that there's literally going to
- 59:34Speaker 1: make a statue out of it. You can climb a
- 59:38Speaker 1: beard for all you ladies that have dreamt about this moment.
- 59:42Speaker 1: All you need to do is go to the university's
- 59:45Speaker 1: Peel Park campus and you can climb a beard. I'm
- 59:47Speaker 1: seeing a picture of it. Like I said, I'm gonna
- 59:49Speaker 1: try to do a link. The story was on the
- 59:50Speaker 1: BBC dot com News UK England, Manchester is the title.
- 59:55Speaker 1: The sculpture is amazing. This guy has a sweet stash,
- 59:58Speaker 1: sweet beard and sweet sweet brain. What he came up with?
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: What an incredible piece. I haven't personally read it. I
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: feel like the only books I've actually read from front
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: to back were the Tucker Max books. So Tucker Max,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: if you're listen, come on, man, give me a shout out.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Let's do an interview. Even if you did go to duke,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: we'll let that go. But yeah, what an amazing thing
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: to have honored for you. Like, if anybody builds statues,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: anybody wants to build a sculpture, something that you can climb,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: please sit me up. Matt Beard Loss dot com you
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: can use my beard. I'd be honored a little bit
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: about about angles if I may From BBC dot com
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: article he was born in Prussia in eighteen twenty. Wait no,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: that's no, that's that's not right. Dist so a little
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: bit about angles from the article in BBC dot com.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: He was born in Prussian in eighteen twenty. Frederick Engels
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: arrived in England in eighteen forty two to take up
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: a role at the business his family co owned and
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: selford the Ermine and Engles Cotton Mill. He lived with
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: an irishwoman, Mary Burns, who showed him the state of
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: working class life in the area, leading him to write
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: The Condition of the Working Class in England in eighteen
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: forty four, was then written by Engles thanks to Mary.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Well done, Mary, see behind every good beard, great and
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: better woman. I believe it. It's a beard law. Go look
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: it up. Send me an email metabeard laws dot com
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: if you can find what beard law that is, and
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: maybe a winsome swag angles. He stayed in Manchester on
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: and off for the next thirty years, where he was
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: a neighbor of author Elizabeth Gaskell. I don't know what's
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: going on over there in Manchester. But they were just
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: tearing up artists. They were just having book a book,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: a book, just brains.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: So if you're looking for inspiration, I highly recommend writers
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: go to Manchester. If you're having a writing block, go
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: to Manchester. That's where amazing things happen. Apparently Karl Marx
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: came to Manchester several times to visit Engles. The pair
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: often met in the Cheatham's Library, where where Marx also
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: wrote part of his work dos Kepitea. So yeah, that
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: is the that's the feature Beard of the day. Frederick Engel.
