- 0:01All right. Good night.
- 0:02Good evening to everyone. About to wish you a good night,
- 0:07and we're having gotten started yet.
- 0:09Yeah. Great to see everybody this
- 0:14evening. Hope everybody's had a good day
- 0:15so far and appreciate you being here.
- 0:19It's just great to have an opportunity to gather together
- 0:23middle of the week and towards the end of a day and just spend
- 0:27a little bit of time together. Hopefully, encouraging and
- 0:33Supporting an edifying. One another Tonight we are going
- 0:37to focus, our time specifically own anxiety.
- 0:42We've kind of hit some major issues with with whirring, xiety
- 0:47depression. Just kind of lightly hitting at
- 0:50times all three, but we're going to specifically try to dive in
- 0:55tonight a little bit too of the issue of anxiety.
- 1:00And hopefully, we'll say some things tonight that will be,
- 1:04that will be hopeful. And helpful in dealing with this
- 1:09issue, the Lord wants us. To be at peace with ourselves
- 1:16and in our lives, you know, we think about Psalm 23.
- 1:20The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want he leaves me.
- 1:25Beside Still Waters. Now, what does that mean?
- 1:32What do you know about sheep and their relationship with water
- 1:36and their preferred drinking sources?
- 1:43According to what? I have read.
- 1:44She do not like moving water. It stresses them out and makes
- 1:49them jittery. And so a fast-moving River a
- 1:53sheep's not going to stick his head in and drink a sheep as
- 1:56preferring to drink from Still Waters.
- 2:01That's that's the water that has Preferred.
- 2:04That is what keeps them calm and keeps them from being over
- 2:10stimulated and Rest. And so, when David talks about
- 2:14the Lord, being his Shepherd and leading him beside Still Waters.
- 2:18What what David is saying is that the Lord is taking me to
- 2:22places that provide for me, peace of mind and provide for me
- 2:26opportunities to not feel. So jittery jump re jumpy anxious
- 2:32worried stressed. All those things, that that many
- 2:36of us struggle with Most of us, maybe even all of us, struggle
- 2:42with anxiousness or anxiety at times, there are certain life
- 2:49circumstances that we face. That all of us face is human
- 2:54beings. If we live long enough, that
- 2:55provide opportunities for anxiety opportunities for
- 2:58anxiousness, and then there are some where it is a habitual and
- 3:03chronic struggle. We were talking about worry.
- 3:09Good bit last Wednesday together.
- 3:11And we talked about the fact in scripture supports this, that
- 3:15worry is a natural emotion. And when it is contained, when
- 3:20it is kept in its proper confinement, it's a useful
- 3:24emotion, isn't it? Useful for us to be genuinely
- 3:27concerned about our family about our friends, about Humanity in
- 3:32general. So Paul talked about one of the,
- 3:35the For Christ, was his daily anxiety for the churches and
- 3:41that words translated different ways depending on the
- 3:44translation that you're reading from.
- 3:46And remember, we talked to before and Philippians 2, where
- 3:49Paul basically commended Timothy because of the level of concern
- 3:54that he had, that Timothy had for the Philippian church that
- 3:57basically rivaled the level of concern that Paul himself had
- 4:02for the Philippian church, and so this worry Is this emotion of
- 4:08warrior concern as it is translated sometimes when that
- 4:12word appears in the New Testament is natural.
- 4:15It's natural and it's useful when it's kept in its proper
- 4:20place. But like most emotions when we
- 4:25allow them to run, amok picture if you will and I've been in
- 4:29houses like this and maybe you have a large dog that you keep
- 4:34in an inside kennel. And as long as that dog is
- 4:37inside that kennel inside your house.
- 4:41No problems. No issues.
- 4:44But if this is a high-energy untrained dog, you know, what
- 4:48can happen when he, or she is let out of the kennel,
- 4:53especially if it's in an unsupervised.
- 4:54I know some people who have an inside dog, they keep the dog
- 4:57kennel while they're at work because they know if they allow
- 5:01the dog to run free in the house for eight hours while they're
- 5:04gone. They're going to come home and
- 5:05it's going to look like, you know, a looting situation has
- 5:09occurred inside their house. And so what anxiety is is
- 5:16basically, when worry has been allowed to run amok, it's no
- 5:21longer kenneled. It's no longer confined.
- 5:24And now it is just running rampant through your mind,
- 5:28through your heart. Just wreaking havoc knocking
- 5:31over everything, Breaking All the breakables that it comes in
- 5:34contact with. So that's what anxiety does to
- 5:39us. And if it is a chronic in
- 5:42habitual thing, that of course it can, it can be debilitating.
- 5:48One of the things that that anxiety does and we've talked
- 5:52about these emotions and depression being being basically
- 5:56a state of being of existing. Okay, I completely forgot where
- 6:05I was going. Just stay away.
- 6:06That just, that was here. One minute Jeremy and gone the
- 6:09next. I am feeling a little anxious
- 6:14right now. Yes, trying to figure out what
- 6:16train of thought I was on that is causing causing some
- 6:19anxiousness. Definitely, you know, we're
- 6:23talking about these emotions and boy will get back there in a
- 6:27minute. Let me just share with you now,
- 6:32I full disclosure here. I have not dealt with chronic or
- 6:38habitual anxiety in my life. Personally.
- 6:40I have had Episodes of Tom's of anxiousness but they have been
- 6:47temporary and seasonal for me. So I cannot fully empathize with
- 6:52those where it is a chronic and habitual issue that you have
- 6:56fought maybe for weeks months or even years.
- 7:00But I have family that have struggled and many people that I
- 7:05have talked with, and, and spent time with over the years, have
- 7:10have shared with me. Me visit, this being a chronic
- 7:14habitual situation and issue so I can speak to things that I
- 7:18have been told and I can speak to things that I have read.
- 7:21I can't speak and then I can speak to how it's made me feel
- 7:25in the, in the times in which I've experienced it, where it's
- 7:29not, you know, being over an extended period of time.
- 7:34So, you know, I don't speak with, you know, with great
- 7:37knowledge or authority on this issue.
- 7:42Incoming from trying to understand fully, those who you
- 7:46feel like it has, it is debilitated.
- 7:51It is been a debilitating thing. Okay.
- 7:54Now it finally came back Jerry where I was going well to see.
- 7:58So these it's a gang of Thieves, worry, anxiety, depression.
- 8:01One of the things that anxiety robs us of is it Robs a Clarity
- 8:08of seeing what's right in front of us?
- 8:12And enjoying the moment. And remember when we talked
- 8:16about Mary and Martha and the word worried anxious comes up in
- 8:22Jesus describing Martha and her mind set it.
- 8:25What it was that was fueling her to be.
- 8:27So intent on making sure she provided Jesus with a perfect
- 8:31meal and she's missing the bigger picture.
- 8:34And that is this opportunity to spend time as Mary was doing
- 8:38just at Jesus feet learning from him.
- 8:41And so Jesus basic was saying to Martha Martha, you've allowed
- 8:46your anxiousness, your concern. You're worried.
- 8:50It's robbed, you of seeing the blessing.
- 8:53That's right in front of you as a basically, he was saying more
- 8:57that I need you to understand this.
- 8:58This mindset is distracting for you.
- 9:03Mary was aware of the circumstance, was aware of how
- 9:08precious of a moment. This was and is taking full
- 9:12advantage of it. You were distracted by your your
- 9:17concern for making sure this, this beautiful meal was prepared
- 9:21for this occasion. Nothing wrong, you know with
- 9:24wanting to prepare, prepare a great meal.
- 9:26Nothing wrong with wanting to entertain, nothing wrong with
- 9:28putting a lot of effort and energy into being hospitable.
- 9:32Nothing wrong with those things. Except when our are over
- 9:39anxiousness are over worry concern about something over.
- 9:43Here distracts us from something.
- 9:45That's that's better. Just as a silly fun not to me.
- 9:51But example like today there was a lot of things on my to-do list
- 9:56today with both Church stuff and hospice stuff.
- 9:59I had a lot of stuff to try to get done today.
- 10:01And it also kind of try to make sure I look back over the notes
- 10:04for tonight a couple of times throughout the day, but I made
- 10:08it a point to take a really scenic route detour.
- 10:13Two of the things I had to do to stop by brookies house to hug on
- 10:17Weston's room because they're only going to be five months and
- 10:22change, you know, for a short time and I'm not going to lose
- 10:28an opportunity because I'm busy and I've got all these things
- 10:32going on. If there's a way that I can add
- 10:37it into the day. I'm going to add into that exact
- 10:40because to me, that's one of the most important things going on
- 10:42in. My life is, is building a
- 10:46relationship with those two little boys.
- 10:48So I said, I'll I'll take a detour.
- 10:50I'll go way around for where I needed to be next to drop in and
- 10:57see them and you share a few laughs with with the boys and we
- 11:01had a great conversation. They just had some real
- 11:03insightful things to share with me.
- 11:05Day and year, we just had a really great back and forth,
- 11:08banter. And it was fantastic, but I
- 11:12needed. I needed that and I was not
- 11:15going to let my anxiousness of all the things I needed to get
- 11:18done today. Robbed me of at least one moment
- 11:22during the day to do something like that that I felt is.
- 11:27You know, you're in what Jesus said, Mary has chosen the best
- 11:30part. It's not that Mary had chosen
- 11:33made a bad choice, in being hospitable and and wanting to
- 11:37provide a great meal for her Savior and her master, but Mary
- 11:41had made the better choice and that was just slow down stop.
- 11:46Stop being distracted and anxious about all these are the
- 11:48things that that you think are important.
- 11:50You need to get done. Focus on what's right here in
- 11:53front of you. And that's one of the things
- 11:54things, Ian T robs us of yet me Lemonhope.
- 11:57Get you. I think Neil was your hand
- 11:58there. Yeah, lay it on us.
- 12:15Yes. Yep.
- 12:47Oh, yeah. Yeah, powerful Point their nail.
- 12:51That is that, that is so true. And, you know, replacing
- 12:55something. That's unhealthy with something.
- 12:57That's healthy. You know, sometimes you think,
- 12:59well, fear is unhealthy in any context, no fear of the Lord is
- 13:01not. And so to replace maybe some of
- 13:07these lesser fears that are causing this anxious.
- 13:12And I love the way that you described that anxiety does two
- 13:15things. One thing, it does it sometimes.
- 13:18Throws the blanket over those Things that are right in front
- 13:20of us and keeps us from seeing those things that are good right
- 13:24in front of us and then it takes the legitimate.
- 13:26Like you said, legitimate bad things often, but it magnifies
- 13:31them to the point where now they just look like this unknown
- 13:35unbeatable Foe. And so you have replacing the
- 13:40fears that you were. Experiencing from those two
- 13:44scenarios, replacing it with this healthy fear of the Lord,
- 13:47realizing his power, his majesty and his ability to help you
- 13:51whether those storms. Yeah, really great observations
- 13:53there. Yeah.
- 13:54Hope Absolutely.
- 14:41Hoping that is one of the big things that anxiety does.
- 14:45One of the big examples of thievery.
- 14:50The way as described in some of the material.
- 14:52I'm going to share with you in. Just a moment.
- 14:54It is three responses that that anxiety can can arouse within us
- 15:00fight flight and freeze. And when you feel debilitated by
- 15:05anxiety, Sometimes it is a freeze reaction.
- 15:09Where now, you just feel, literally paralyzed.
- 15:12You don't want to leave the house.
- 15:13You don't want to pick up the phone.
- 15:14You don't want to interact with friends, family, loved ones,
- 15:18your community. And so, yes, and then it is,
- 15:24it's putting a barrier between you and one of the things that
- 15:27can help manage that anxiety. And that is those acts of
- 15:32service and love for others that as we well know.
- 15:36When we do those acts of service and love for others, it raises
- 15:40those hormones, those chemicals in our body, that, that help us
- 15:44with our mood, your dopamine's, and your serotonins, and your
- 15:48epinephrine, sign out in a pronounce that one, right?
- 15:50But thank you know what I'm talking about.
- 15:53But yes, fantastic point there. Hope.
- 15:56I think I missed a yes. Brother.
- 15:58Danny. Thinking about all this, because
- 16:01I'm hurting. Chronically anxious.
- 16:06They didn't want to leave the house, right?
- 16:33Somebody could Billy is, are really afraid of the storm.
- 16:39So they, so in fear of that, if they can't enjoy the perfectly
- 16:43good days because they're thinking about what might come
- 16:46down the road. The they're they're conscious
- 16:50constantly. Thank you though, and then they
- 16:55help of course, arriving just doesn't Oh my God, dying.
- 17:08And always look at a lot of things that than that absolutely
- 17:16brother. Dan is.
- 17:18Paying a fee, goes back to a point.
- 17:20Yes. I want to hear from you too.
- 17:22That just the great email that you allowed us to read for
- 17:25everyone when we begin this class and, you know, one of the
- 17:29things that you said in your personal experience, and I know
- 17:31this is a common issue with many that, that struggle with it,
- 17:38chronically or habitually, is this tendency to try to carry
- 17:43guilt and regrets of the past worries and concerns about the
- 17:48The future and add those into the Satchel of of the current
- 17:52days already existing concerns. You remember when Jesus is
- 17:57trying to tell us, not to worry, Matthew chapter 6.
- 17:59What does he say about the reason not to worry about?
- 18:02Tomorrow is sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
- 18:06So in essence, you say, listen, this life is not a walk in the
- 18:09park. So each day is going to produce
- 18:11its own set of challenges, its own set of obstacles and issues.
- 18:15So in other words, you'll have enough to deal with With just
- 18:18dealing with what comes up in this 24 hours, but if you've got
- 18:22this sack where, you know, your carried around today's troubles,
- 18:27but you've added into that sack yesterday's regrets and the
- 18:33things that, you know, that bother you from mistakes or
- 18:37choices, or things that have happened to you or things that
- 18:38you've done, whatever. And then, you're worrying and
- 18:41start about the stuff in the future.
- 18:42And now, you throwing all that stuff in the Satchel.
- 18:44It is an unbearable bag to carry.
- 18:47Nobody can can Walk around with a bag that full that that bag is
- 18:51full and overflowing. And so that's why Jesus saying,
- 18:54let tomorrow will worry about itself sufficient for the day,
- 18:58is its troubled. So don't don't add into that
- 19:02sack of your daily issues. The things that that you're
- 19:06bringing back from days, already gone and what you're worried
- 19:10about could happen in the days ahead.
- 19:12Yeah, Peyton. I need to weigh more than they
- 19:45did. Yes.
- 20:37Yeah. I love it.
- 20:58Peyton, you hit the nail on the head?
- 21:01And no, it is not a me. It is a way that you were
- 21:04talking about in everything that I have read.
- 21:07The the expectations that we allow culture and Society to
- 21:14place on us this level of busyness that we feel like,
- 21:18okay. Well we have to do this because
- 21:21this is what culture Society is telling us.
- 21:24It is one of the At the top of the list of those that list, the
- 21:32things that are reasons for the anxiety epidemic.
- 21:38And that is everybody that studies.
- 21:40This is we are the most anxious collection of human beings that
- 21:45has existed as of yet. You know, I won't bore you with
- 21:49all the statistics but I read multiple sources and I know
- 21:54anxiety disorder is an inexact science, you know you You can do
- 21:58a blood test to determine if you have leukemia, you know, you can
- 22:02do a test to determine if you have strep.
- 22:05The test for anxiety disorder is not as an exact science as that.
- 22:10So, you know, but for those that make those medical diagnosis,
- 22:19they say it's to the tune of and Jeremy.
- 22:21You can tell me if this stat is similar to what you come across
- 22:24in your education at work. ENT of the current population.
- 22:31They believe has either a diagnosed or they have it.
- 22:35It's just not been diagnosed case of anxiety disorder, the
- 22:41percentage, the, the numbers of millions of the people that that
- 22:48have medication for these kinds of issues, it's over 25 million
- 22:54just in this country and I like to speak very carefully when we
- 22:59start talking about medication as being a problem, because
- 23:03there are There are examples of anxiety that that are external
- 23:10to anything involving life experience.
- 23:14Meaning your body is not producing those those hormones
- 23:18that we were talking about a few moments ago.
- 23:20Your body's not producing them naturally at the rate in which
- 23:23your body needs in order to function without having anxiety.
- 23:28And so there, there are scientific diagnosis for anxiety
- 23:33disorders. What I'm saying not One who has
- 23:36been told by Medical Professional, you have an
- 23:38anxiety disorder was based on a scientific.
- 23:40Okay, we've done the blood work. Your you're lacking in this
- 23:44particular hormone, this particular hormone.
- 23:45We're going to give you some medication to balance those
- 23:47things out. So I'm not saying that throw out
- 23:52the baby with the bathwater. And anyway, I won't get too too
- 23:55often any of that brother cliff and then, Brother, David,
- 24:16Absolutely, brother. Clavin is such a Great point.
- 24:20You make in taking us to that scene in the garden.
- 24:23Where Jesus. If he's not experiencing
- 24:27anxiety. I don't know what it is in that
- 24:29prayer in the garden and G. There's a part of Jesus that is
- 24:34looking at the hours to come as an unbearable burden.
- 24:39That's why he praised three times for the Lord, to let the
- 24:41cup pass. So, there's a part of his
- 24:44Humanity that's looking at what's before him, and he's
- 24:47viewing it as being unbearable. And He's praying earnestly to
- 24:50the Lord, for a way out and we see God to his own son.
- 24:58Does not give him a way out. But what does he give him?
- 25:03An angel to minister to him? He gives him the strength, he
- 25:07needs to, okay. I'm going to help you realize
- 25:11this is not an unbearable life experience.
- 25:16You can do it. It's not going to be easy.
- 25:18It's going to be indescribably difficult, but he sent an angel
- 25:23into the garden to minister to Jesus, to give him the strength.
- 25:26He made to handle those last few hours before he could say it is
- 25:29finished. And so, you know, when we're
- 25:32dealing with those things that causes anxiety, worry.
- 25:35Not every time the answer is going to be just completely
- 25:38removing the root cause, but what God does is provides us
- 25:44with that tool if we, if we trust in him and believe, Leave
- 25:49that that he has the ability to do it.
- 25:51He gives us the tools that we need to weather it to make it a
- 25:54bearable burden to make it something that we can actually
- 25:58get through Brother David. Yes, yes.
- 26:11Medical. Yeah, there's a medical
- 26:13component to some some anxiety. Yes.
- 27:00I'll Brother David such a fantastic way and it is right on
- 27:04the money. Yeah.
- 27:04Now I get to you in just a second.
- 27:06Let me just piggyback on that real quick because it is so
- 27:10germane to something that I read, Benjamin of the book that
- 27:15you loan me. Redefining anxiety by dr.
- 27:17John Delaney. And the way he visit he was
- 27:21someone that he's got training and expertise in in anxiety.
- 27:26He's all he was also a personal suffer from it to the point
- 27:29where it It almost did him in so he can both empathize
- 27:33sympathize. He knows it from an internal as
- 27:36well as tons of study Education and Research that he's done on
- 27:41it. And the way that he describes
- 27:43anxiety is anxiety, is is not the problem.
- 27:49Anxiety is an alarm system to let you know that there is a
- 27:54problem somewhere else. Kind of like it was anybody
- 27:57around when the tornado sirens were tested today.
- 28:03I was I was driving and I was driving closer to one of those
- 28:08Sirens. So it was getting louder as it
- 28:10was going, and that thing will make your heart rate.
- 28:13Even when you know, it's a test, you know, it is such a relief to
- 28:17me when you hear that lesson. Oh, thank goodness, man, with
- 28:21that thing ever. Quit.
- 28:24Imagine anxiety as a siren or or in simpler terms.
- 28:30A smoke alarm in your house. And so anxiety is letting, you
- 28:37know, there is danger in your ecosystem.
- 28:39What what makes you who you are. And so what is most beneficial
- 28:45for the person who is dealing with anxiety is not to take the
- 28:50batteries out of the smoke alarm not to what walk out of the
- 28:54house and leave until it stops, alarming not to distract
- 28:59yourself so that you're not hearing it by putting a Plugs in
- 29:03your ears but finding okay. Is there?
- 29:05Smoke is there fire? Why is this alarm going off?
- 29:09And they that gets to your point where we have to ask ourselves
- 29:16those questions. Okay.
- 29:18What what is it? This that's running in my mind
- 29:22that is causing me agitation. That's causing me.
- 29:24Anxiety, that is distracting me from why would much rather be
- 29:28doing right now? What is it?
- 29:32And what, what a lot of us tend to do, is to do something to
- 29:36mute the sound, rather than to deal with what it is, that's
- 29:41causing it. And what Delaney said is when he
- 29:45was talking about medication. He said, for some that
- 29:48medication is essential because there is a medical reason for
- 29:52why the anxiety is is happening. For others.
- 29:56It is it is masking. The issue that has not been
- 30:02dealt with reconciled resolved and sometimes it's as for some
- 30:08people that everybody is case is unique, but for some people,
- 30:11they're going to feel less stressed by turning off the
- 30:14news. I've had multiple people that
- 30:16have said to me, my mood has improved since I turned off the
- 30:20news. I have had other people who have
- 30:23said when I decided to You no longer allow my phone to rule my
- 30:28life. My mood improved, my stress.
- 30:32So sometimes people have been able to diagnose themselves.
- 30:36And so that you're not dealing with a medical issue.
- 30:38You're not dealing with a chemical imbalance.
- 30:40There's something in your life that is setting off that alarm
- 30:43and now you've searched through your mind and your heart.
- 30:46Okay, here it is. Here's where the smoke is.
- 30:48Here's where the fire is. Now.
- 30:49Let's get the smoke in the fire out of the house.
- 30:52And now the alarm will go off on its own.
- 30:56And so it is such an important exercise is Delaney said it
- 30:59Brother. David is you said so
- 31:01beautifully, its identifying, those stressors.
- 31:05Sometimes it is Peyton going back to your point.
- 31:07This I am allowing myself to give into this cultural
- 31:13expectation of fill. Every moment with something.
- 31:17You got to be accomplishing something, every single moment,
- 31:20Delaney goes on to say, I'm getting way way down in the
- 31:24notes. He says, You have to stop
- 31:27believing the myth that you can be all things to all people at
- 31:32all times. He said that, that is a myth, it
- 31:35cannot be accomplished. It cannot be done.
- 31:37And you got to quit trying to tell yourself that.
- 31:40You can have it all. Be it all, do it.
- 31:42All. He says, nobody can have it all,
- 31:45be it all, do it. All.
- 31:46He says, we are human beings, not human doings.
- 31:50He said if your doings are getting in the way of your
- 31:53being, then you need to remove some of Of the doing so that you
- 31:56can get back to being and I thought, wow, that was, that was
- 32:01one that I filed away for for a long-term meditation, Neil what
- 32:05you got, brother? Fantastic Point nail.
- 32:29That's I think about the words, the devotional song when you
- 32:33were talking about. When did the Lord cry out
- 32:35through all this, that he endured.
- 32:39When did he cry out? It was.
- 32:41And the the words that saw me in thorns on his head.
- 32:44His spirit is hide yet. It was a heartache that made him
- 32:46cry. It was that that Agony of
- 32:49separation from the Lord? What those three hours of
- 32:51Darkness represented on the cross from the sixth hour to the
- 32:54ninth hour that Darkness representing God.
- 32:58Father, turning his back on the sun, him bearing, the sins of
- 33:01the world alone. You remember that?
- 33:04That sense of aloneness. Jesus was already anticipating.
- 33:08I think is in John chapter, 16 Henry, the exact verse but he
- 33:13and the conclusion of his conversation with the apostles
- 33:16before he leaves to go in the garden and pray.
- 33:18He says you're going to leave me alone.
- 33:21And Jesus is already anticipating and one of the
- 33:24other books. I'm reading a book that bats
- 33:26will Barrett Baxter wrote. I like calling triple because
- 33:29it's kind of hard to say it. Triple B wrote a book called
- 33:32when life tumbles in back in the 70s and he was talking about
- 33:35what are the things that contribute so much to depression
- 33:39is loneliness is being alone. And and so when Jesus had to
- 33:43spend that time on this, particularly those three hours
- 33:47on the cross feeling for the first time in his eternal
- 33:49existence, this separation from the father.
- 33:51It was that. That is when you hear him cry
- 33:56and Jesus doesn't even Ask anything for himself until I
- 34:02think it's John's account that says, and when he knew that all
- 34:05things had been fulfilled. He said, I thirst, and then
- 34:09allowed himself to receive a little bit from what they
- 34:12brought him because he had already paid the price at that.
- 34:15Quote, because right after that, he says, it is finished right
- 34:19after that into your hands. I commit my spirit.
- 34:22Yes, sir. Brother.
- 34:22Shane are, I'm terribly, sorry. Didn't see where the hand came
- 34:25from. Yes, Tiffany.
- 34:44And TV. That is so true.
- 34:46We We, in fact, we touched on that in the very first class in
- 34:50Peyton's email that he allowed us to have read for everybody
- 34:55touched on that as well. That sometimes the worst thing
- 34:58that you can say to a Christian is, well.
- 35:03Are you praying enough? Are you studying up or you read
- 35:05your Bible enough? You know, sometimes that is
- 35:10being said to someone who in the previous two weeks.
- 35:13They've never paid more in their life in the previous two weeks.
- 35:16They've never read their Bible. Or in their life and they're
- 35:19still dealing with these issues. And in essence.
- 35:24What is being insinuated and it's not intentional, you know,
- 35:27when we say things like that, but what's been insinuated?
- 35:29Okay. Well, you probably just need to
- 35:31ramp up your Christian. Walk a little bit.
- 35:34You're not, you're just not quite living the Christian Life,
- 35:37good enough right now. And that for people that are
- 35:42believers and we don't know, you know what their pattern of
- 35:45spiritual behavior is being and the weeks previous.
- 35:50I mean, it may be that they have never prayed more.
- 35:52Never studied more and it's at that point in time.
- 35:55Yes. It may be a valley that they're
- 35:56in that it's just going to take more time and it's going to take
- 36:02some divine intervention, beyond our comprehension and
- 36:04understanding to get us through of yet being very careful and
- 36:09How we tried to. Diagnose someone's condition and
- 36:14prescribed for them. The necessary thing they need to
- 36:17do it. We had to be so careful with
- 36:19people that are going through this.
- 36:20Yes, brother Danny. A piece of tape, over the check,
- 36:47engine light in your car sooner or later.
- 36:49Something's going to happen. It is going to break down in the
- 36:54same way with us. If we don't deal with that
- 36:57anxiety, we can't always do it alone time.
- 37:02We have to have counselor education, all of those
- 37:05different things but It has to be dealt with it.
- 37:09Whatever way it needs to be dealt with for pretty soon.
- 37:13Some breakdown. That is so true, brother Danny.
- 37:16That's one of the points that that dr.
- 37:21Delaney makes in this book that he wrote redefining anxiety.
- 37:25Where if we just continually try to mask or mute the alarm?
- 37:33And again, we know their medical contributors to anxiety, that
- 37:40it's not as easy as going into the room.
- 37:42Finding where the smoke of the fire is put it out.
- 37:44The alarm is going to go out. So we know that not all cases.
- 37:48That's that's going to work. But there are cases where and
- 37:53here's what he talks about. And I know I think I'm getting
- 37:56the heads up that that time is up.
- 37:58Is that what's happening here? Okay, so let me just read this
- 38:01one. Rapping.
- 38:02We'll be done and we'll pick up here toward Will.
- 38:04And next Wednesday, meds can be helpful in needed when anxiety
- 38:06and depression are based upon a chemical imbalance and internal
- 38:09problem or a chronic illness. But meds or not.
- 38:12The ultimate answer a solution for anxiety that is caused by
- 38:15actor, external problems, such as toxic relationships, improper
- 38:20work-life, balance fast-paced, lifestyle, unrealistic
- 38:23pressures, and expectations. You may be stuck in an
- 38:27unsustainable overwhelming, life sucked into the chaos and
- 38:30disconnection of the modern world medication will not fix
- 38:33those things. They will only mask them or numb
- 38:36you to the effects of them and eventually, they will that they
- 38:40will be overcoming. So we'll stop there.
- 38:44Thank y'all so much. Great comments and observations
- 38:47will pick up there. We've got a good bit more to say
- 38:49about anxiety and maybe some things that will help us cope
- 38:54with.
