- 1:58Speaker 1: In this episode of this Guy's coverage, we are doing
- 2:02Speaker 1: a full film breakdown episode of every single one of
- 2:06Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills defensive snaps in the second half against
- 2:09Speaker 1: the New England Patriots. Obviously a standout performance because they
- 2:13Speaker 1: held the Patriots to seven points in that second half
- 2:16Speaker 1: after getting you know, shredded and thrashed in the first
- 2:19Speaker 1: half for twenty four points. You know what changed, what worked,
- 2:22Speaker 1: what happened. Talking about all of those things and more,
- 2:25Speaker 1: you know, in tandement in conjunction with one another. And
- 2:29Speaker 1: to do that, I'm joined by one of my favorite people,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and we're gonna be essentially diving, literally diving into all
- 2:34Speaker 1: nineteen plays. There's eighteen official plays nineteen including the holding
- 2:39Speaker 1: penalty on the third and fifteen completion to Hunter Henry.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So we'll be diving into all of that, framing it
- 2:45Speaker 1: a bit. So I'm gonna keep this centro a bit
- 2:46Speaker 1: short and bring on my guests, who I'm very happy
- 2:49Speaker 1: was able to join me. One of my favorite people,
- 2:52Speaker 1: mister Mistel. Oh wow, we're a minute and forty five
- 2:55Speaker 1: in now, mister and Kendall and I flubbed it and
- 2:58Speaker 1: I hate myself, Miss Kendall, Mrsky, welcome back to the
- 3:03Speaker 1: show for I don't know whatever time. A lot of
- 3:07Speaker 1: times I'm digging.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I'm digging.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I'm digging the lights and field background.
- 3:10Speaker 2: It's sick. I appreciate you.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm pumped to, you know, walk on this journey with
- 3:14Speaker 1: you as we break down all these plays and talk
- 3:16Speaker 1: about what the Bills did in the second half.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Welcome to the show. Yeah, thanks for having me again.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It's always great to be back and always nice to
- 3:23Speaker 2: just be able to talk Bills and just kind of
- 3:25Speaker 2: talk shop with you.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Now from a high level perspective, before you know, we
- 3:30Speaker 1: really get into the tape nitty gritty and all these
- 3:32Speaker 1: types of things. Where are you high level on the
- 3:36Speaker 1: Bills defense as a whole, like not even just obviously
- 3:39Speaker 1: in a vacuum of the game against the past, but
- 3:41Speaker 1: high level as they continue to push for the playoffs,
- 3:44Speaker 1: ideally getting some guys back. Where's your head at. Are
- 3:47Speaker 1: you confident in this group? Are you wary? Are you
- 3:50Speaker 1: worry about a certain area? Is it everything overall around
- 3:53Speaker 1: the whole? Where's your head at? When you know you
- 3:55Speaker 1: think Bill's defense and kind of just push for a championship.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I think this game makes it tough because for what
- 4:02Speaker 2: two and a half of the previous games, we felt
- 4:05Speaker 2: like the run defense was actually improving a little bit,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and then this game happened, and you know, all of
- 4:11Speaker 2: that just kind of came crashing back down. So I
- 4:14Speaker 2: think that actually muddies it a little bit. I think
- 4:19Speaker 2: as high level as I can get about it is
- 4:21Speaker 2: I think at their best, they're an average defense. But
- 4:26Speaker 2: we haven't seen them at their best really other than
- 4:31Speaker 2: that Chiefs game, and like that was a very small sample,
- 4:36Speaker 2: Like it was truthfully, just that Chiefs game.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Everything, Yeah, I think looks so pretty. We were all
- 4:43Speaker 1: so hopeful.
- 4:44Speaker 2: M H. So I think average at best, and we
- 4:48Speaker 2: saw it, and I don't know if we get back
- 4:50Speaker 2: to that. Sure, adding at Oliver in the playoffs it's
- 4:53Speaker 2: probably gonna help, but like, is it going to be
- 4:55Speaker 2: one hundred percent at Oliver? How much is that really
- 4:59Speaker 2: going to help get us back to average, So at
- 5:01Speaker 2: the end of the day, I think this is a
- 5:04Speaker 2: bottom twelve defense that has issues against the run and
- 5:12Speaker 2: is streaky against the pass. Is probably the best way
- 5:15Speaker 2: I can put it, because I think everything in the
- 5:19Speaker 2: past game really just depends on the marriage of Russian coverage.
- 5:23Speaker 2: But I mean that that goes for everyone. But what's
- 5:26Speaker 2: so unique to the Bills is they really only have
- 5:29Speaker 2: one pass rusher that makes an impact, and that's Joey Bosa.
- 5:32Speaker 2: So as long as we can you know, knock on
- 5:34Speaker 2: would keep him healthy, that is really where we're gonna
- 5:37Speaker 2: see that impact of the marriage of Russian coverage, because
- 5:42Speaker 2: without him healthy, there's you know, you only have one
- 5:45Speaker 2: half of that equation, and even one half of that
- 5:48Speaker 2: equation is streaky, because I think both sides of that
- 5:50Speaker 2: marriage are streaky and it just needs to kind of
- 5:53Speaker 2: coincide at the right moments situationally, and I think that's
- 5:57Speaker 2: what this defense has done well in the past. McDermott specifically,
- 6:01Speaker 2: though in the last two and a half years or so,
- 6:04Speaker 2: it's been very much reliant on situational defense and not
- 6:11Speaker 2: necessarily on smothering, just holistically good defense because that's what
- 6:16Speaker 2: we got used to in the early years of McDermott,
- 6:18Speaker 2: in the early years of this regime. But now it's
- 6:21Speaker 2: just kind of, you know, got to rely on those
- 6:24Speaker 2: streaky moments and getting lucky in the right situations. But ultimately,
- 6:28Speaker 2: I do think this is a bottom twelve defense that
- 6:31Speaker 2: at their best, like they we can win despite it,
- 6:36Speaker 2: But it doesn't feel like it will ever be a
- 6:38Speaker 2: strength at any point this season.
- 6:40Speaker 1: How concerned are you about the run defense? Do you
- 6:43Speaker 1: think it's enough to hold them back? I think that
- 6:46Speaker 1: the term, I feel like fatal flaw is like the
- 6:48Speaker 1: hot like buzzword that people use to label like vulnerabilities
- 6:51Speaker 1: or deficiencies now, so I try to like stay away
- 6:53Speaker 1: from it because I feel like it's so buzzwordy and
- 6:55Speaker 1: lacks a lot of context for a lot of things.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But do you think the run defense is quote unquote
- 7:00Speaker 1: fatal flawed? You see it as a how big of
- 7:02Speaker 1: a vulnerability or deficiency do you see it as? And
- 7:05Speaker 1: do you think it's something that can legitimately and or
- 7:09Speaker 1: realistically hold them back from winning a Super Bowl this year?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Well? I mean I feel like everyone talks about it
- 7:17Speaker 2: once you get to December and once you get to
- 7:19Speaker 2: the postseason, what travels, it's your run game in your defense, and.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Got to run the ball on offense, come playoff time,
- 7:25Speaker 1: got to stop the run on defense, come play right.
- 7:27Speaker 2: But even beyond just stopping the run on defense, like
- 7:29Speaker 2: you just got to be able to stop people on defense, right.
- 7:32Speaker 2: So it's just it's an interesting conversation to have because,
- 7:37Speaker 2: I mean, the Bills have done such a great job
- 7:39Speaker 2: of building their team to be more successful in the
- 7:43Speaker 2: postseason and be more successful once you know, weather hits,
- 7:46Speaker 2: and you know, they just haven't really done the same
- 7:49Speaker 2: thing on the defensive side. They've done so much to
- 7:52Speaker 2: stop the the air raid offense is that you know,
- 7:55Speaker 2: was the NFL, and it's kind of passed their defense
- 7:58Speaker 2: by in some ways. So I don't want to I
- 8:03Speaker 2: want to stop short of saying it's a fatal flaw,
- 8:05Speaker 2: but like that that is really important and it's a
- 8:08Speaker 2: really stabilizing factor to mitigate risk in the postseason, and
- 8:14Speaker 2: that that is my biggest concern. And we have a
- 8:17Speaker 2: very young, inexperienced interior defensive line outside of Daikwon Jones
- 8:23Speaker 2: and Larry ogun Joby and thankfully and we'll probably highlight
- 8:26Speaker 2: it a little bit here ogun Joby played probably his
- 8:30Speaker 2: best game of the season in this past game, and
- 8:33Speaker 2: it was nice to see. But we got to see
- 8:36Speaker 2: him continue to stack on that to feel better about
- 8:38Speaker 2: the veteran presence between him and day Kuon in the middle,
- 8:42Speaker 2: because other than that, it's it's Dion Walker, who, yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 2: he shows flashes, but he's been largely inconsistent through the
- 8:48Speaker 2: season and we're playing the other rookie Sanders at edge,
- 8:53Speaker 2: so it's it's a disservice to him and kind of
- 8:56Speaker 2: a disservice to team. I see in the chat Jordan
- 8:59Speaker 2: Phillips's experience instead being displaced. K Moorey had another good one.
- 9:02Speaker 1: He said, the opposite running back exists. The Bills run
- 9:05Speaker 1: defense have a career day, sir.
- 9:08Speaker 2: So yeah, the defense, the run defense is it does
- 9:14Speaker 2: feel like it has a lot of potential to be
- 9:17Speaker 2: the fatal flaw of this team in the postseason, but
- 9:21Speaker 2: I want to see it, right Like, I still want
- 9:23Speaker 2: to see what it will be in the playoffs. And
- 9:26Speaker 2: there's a part of me that thinks maybe we'll get
- 9:30Speaker 2: a little bit more game planning for these postseason games
- 9:33Speaker 2: because it feels like they go into these games being like, ah,
- 9:37Speaker 2: we'll just throw our usual thing out there for the
- 9:39Speaker 2: first quarter, and we'll adjust by half of this second quarter,
- 9:42Speaker 2: by halfway through the second quarter where we'll make our adjustments,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and then from there we'll play good ball. And it's worked.
- 9:50Speaker 2: It has worked for them on defense, But I would
- 9:53Speaker 2: like to think once we get to the playoffs there
- 9:55Speaker 2: will be more intentional game planning to get off the
- 9:57Speaker 2: hot starts on defense.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That's fair and I think even tied into that, the
- 10:03Speaker 1: I think I don't think it's a fatal fatal flaws.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There's such a dramatic.
- 10:08Speaker 2: It feels like a lot.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think the run defense is very worthysome.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I think it can sincerely hold them back. It just
- 10:17Speaker 1: makes game script and so many other things matter so
- 10:22Speaker 1: much more to them. Like if you can't stop the run,
- 10:25Speaker 1: that's bad in and of itself, right, especially come playoff time.
- 10:29Speaker 1: But then that also compromises your coverage structures on the
- 10:32Speaker 1: back end, because how you choose to fit the run
- 10:34Speaker 1: determines what you do on the back a end from
- 10:36Speaker 1: a coverage standpoint, and then also tying it into the
- 10:38Speaker 1: Bills offense, like the Bills offense, despite you know, some
- 10:41Speaker 1: of their explosive play stats. They're not this like, oh,
- 10:45Speaker 1: four plays seventy five yards touchdown, it's you know, seven plays,
- 10:48Speaker 1: nine plays, twelve plays, sixty yards seventy yards, five minutes,
- 10:53Speaker 1: seven minutes, eight minutes o'clock like the games are.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I was actually noticing it even more so this past week.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Granted the game changed a bit, but like Bills games
- 11:02Speaker 1: feel like they're so short, Like if they start at one,
- 11:04Speaker 1: it feels like the game is, yeah, the game's almost
- 11:06Speaker 1: over by like three point fifty.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Because games only go as long as they do because
- 11:11Speaker 2: of the last two minutes of each quarter, yes, each half.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And then halftimes strike drains it on like it's it
- 11:17Speaker 1: seems very much like a game that's just flowing because
- 11:20Speaker 1: of how the Bills operate. And I think Greg Olsen
- 11:22Speaker 1: mentioned it maybe a couple weeks ago where somebody did
- 11:24Speaker 1: like they the Bills gate, like the Bills shorten the games.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And when you add on top of that, if they're
- 11:30Speaker 1: getting run on, the game is getting shortened for them
- 11:32Speaker 1: and possessions get limited it and that can be good
- 11:36Speaker 1: for the Bills defense, but it's also stressful for the
- 11:38Speaker 1: Bills offense. That means like if you're only going to
- 11:40Speaker 1: get five possessions this game.
- 11:42Speaker 2: You got to score. You're going to take seven minutes
- 11:45Speaker 2: on a possession. You need to score a touchdown.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yes, if you're not going to have that quantity, you
- 11:50Speaker 1: need to make sure you win with quality at all times,
- 11:53Speaker 1: if you're not going to have the proper volume. And
- 11:55Speaker 1: it just that's one little example, like so many things,
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think, start to stack and build and compare negatively
- 12:02Speaker 1: if they can. If any team can't stop the Rumbers,
- 12:04Speaker 1: especially this Bills team with how they're built offensively and defensively,
- 12:08Speaker 1: the good news I think is when you look at
- 12:10Speaker 1: the AFC and how wide open it is, there isn't
- 12:15Speaker 1: any team that's like, oh, they're like, this team can
- 12:18Speaker 1: run on them.
- 12:19Speaker 2: This team can run on them.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm still somewhat worried about the Colts, but the quarterback
- 12:25Speaker 1: piece is such a wild card. It could be positive
- 12:27Speaker 1: or negative. But they can run the ball. Taylor's sick.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Their offensive line can move, you know, in dis place,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and they can run gap stuff.
- 12:34Speaker 2: They can run the zone stuff.
- 12:36Speaker 1: The Jags have run the ball a little bit, and
- 12:38Speaker 1: you know, I think Liam Cohen's a good OC. And
- 12:41Speaker 1: we'll see if Baltimore gets in Denver. I think has
- 12:45Speaker 1: a good enough line and like run game, but it's
- 12:47Speaker 1: like wonky with Nicks and how they operate. The Chargers
- 12:50Speaker 1: can go heavy and move the ball, and you know
- 12:52Speaker 1: that that's what they want to do with hardball and Roman.
- 12:56Speaker 1: The Texans have been a bad offense, but have been better.
- 12:59Speaker 1: But then when you played the Texans offense when they
- 13:02Speaker 1: were bad and had Davis Mills, they run all over
- 13:04Speaker 1: you in the first half, but then you kind.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Of changed it a bit.
- 13:06Speaker 1: So much is so wonky with this team and this
- 13:10Speaker 1: defense and the run game piece is super annoying. Say,
- 13:13Speaker 1: I kind of want to lead with that to get
- 13:14Speaker 1: your thoughts on that as we transition into the kind
- 13:17Speaker 1: of the conversation about this Bills Pats game, because you know,
- 13:20Speaker 1: as you and I were talking about and text earlier
- 13:22Speaker 1: in the week and then before we went live, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 1: the Patriots and let me pull up the exact stats
- 13:31Speaker 1: because I found this and I think I sent you
- 13:33Speaker 1: this tweet two when I sent Excel was like, this
- 13:37Speaker 1: is like pretty stark, the.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Where is it here? Hold on? Thank you.
- 13:43Speaker 1: In the first half of Bills Roth's Patriots, the Pats
- 13:47Speaker 1: ran the ball twenty two times, for an EPA per
- 13:50Speaker 1: rush of positive zero point four to three seven. That
- 13:53Speaker 1: was the highest first half EPA per rush of any
- 13:57Speaker 1: team in Week fifteen. Also, in that first off the
- 14:00Speaker 1: first half, they had a rushing success rate of fifty
- 14:02Speaker 1: seven point nine percent, which was the fifth highest rate
- 14:05Speaker 1: of any team in Week fifteen. Obviously, that's still a
- 14:09Speaker 1: great number in.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It of itself.
- 14:10Speaker 1: You almost have a sixty percent rushing success rate. Twenty
- 14:12Speaker 1: two attempts. They got some you know, some traction on
- 14:15Speaker 1: the ground with Henderson, with ramondre Stevenson, with Drake May.
- 14:19Speaker 1: He's doing some keepers, he's running a bit twenty two times.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Wildly successful. Second half the Pats ran the ball three times.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And as much as I think people want to give
- 14:29Speaker 1: more credit to the Bills of like, yeah, what the
- 14:31Speaker 1: Bills are doing and playing on the front foot, and
- 14:33Speaker 1: there is some of that in there, which we're going
- 14:34Speaker 1: to get into as we uh talk a bit, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: I really think the Pats, like getting away from that
- 14:41Speaker 1: voluntarily is what completely changed this game. The Bill's biggest
- 14:45Speaker 1: vulnerability is their run defense, and the patriotsly willing to
- 14:49Speaker 1: pay the Pats like seemingly willingly went away from it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Then they also weren't getting first downs through the air.
- 14:56Speaker 1: They were just feeding into this Bill's comeback so much
- 14:59Speaker 1: where it was like the Bills score, they'd get a stop.
- 15:01Speaker 1: The Bills score, they'd get a stop, and the Pats
- 15:03Speaker 1: they're not having a lot of possessions. They only had
- 15:05Speaker 1: the ball for four minutes and thirty seconds in the
- 15:08Speaker 1: third quarter. They ran u what is it, ten plays
- 15:14Speaker 1: for for twenty three yards. One drive was three plays
- 15:19Speaker 1: negative six yards. The other one was seven plays twenty
- 15:22Speaker 1: three yards. That one ended in the interception to Trey White.
- 15:25Speaker 1: The previous one to three for negative six went for
- 15:27Speaker 1: a punt, like them kind of taking themselves out. Still,
- 15:31Speaker 1: looking back on it, like surprises me because they work
- 15:34Speaker 1: the Bills on the ground in the first half and
- 15:36Speaker 1: then you come out at halftime you're up twenty four
- 15:37Speaker 1: to seven. Granted, the Bills get the ball first, they score,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but the Bill's biggest deficiency is stop.
- 15:43Speaker 2: In the run.
- 15:43Speaker 1: They didn't stop it for you in the first half.
- 15:45Speaker 1: You run the ball in the first play of the
- 15:46Speaker 1: second half, Ogen Joebey gets a stop, and it was
- 15:49Speaker 1: almost like they didn't want to run and use that
- 15:53Speaker 1: negative as like, well, look they stopped the run, we
- 15:56Speaker 1: gotta go to the air now. And it just it
- 15:58Speaker 1: fed into what the Bill do better defensively. It played
- 16:01Speaker 1: into their hands, It played into the game script, and
- 16:03Speaker 1: it went round and round, and I that's like my
- 16:06Speaker 1: biggest takeaway in one of the things when we get
- 16:07Speaker 1: into the plays here again we have nineteen eighteen official.
- 16:11Speaker 1: One of the nineteen was a holding penalty that kind
- 16:13Speaker 1: of negated that play. But you're only gonna see three runs,
- 16:16Speaker 1: and that's like one of my biggest Like start, I
- 16:21Speaker 1: was thinking, like, man, they're gonna come out in the
- 16:22Speaker 1: second half. They're probably gonna go heavy. They're gonna keep mashing.
- 16:25Speaker 1: They're gonna want to milk this clock. They're gonna want
- 16:27Speaker 1: to shorten the game. They're gonna want to limit possessions
- 16:29Speaker 1: for Josh Allen. And instead I almost feel like they
- 16:31Speaker 1: did like a Baltimore Ravens playoff Galaxy Brain type of
- 16:35Speaker 1: deal where they were like, oh, they probably think we're
- 16:37Speaker 1: gonna run, let's pass it, and it's like, no, shut.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Up, just run the ball.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Just run the ball, Like this is the Ravens against
- 16:42Speaker 1: the Chiefs, and what twenty twenty three like, don't get.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Cute, shut up, just run the ball. Just run the football.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And the Ravens ran it like eleven times they came
- 16:49Speaker 1: or something ridiculous.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm still like shocked by what the pats mo
- 16:56Speaker 2: or operating style. It is so interesting to be because
- 17:00Speaker 2: McDaniels called such a perfect first half, Like, yes, he
- 17:05Speaker 2: was dictating to the Bills defense that entire first.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Half completely on the back foot.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Used trick plays when no one was expecting it. He
- 17:14Speaker 2: had a perfect mix of run and pass. He was
- 17:17Speaker 2: calling such a great game and yeah, you said it.
- 17:20Speaker 2: They were up seventeen going into halftime. It's the absolute
- 17:24Speaker 2: nightmare game script for the Bills. And they touched the
- 17:27Speaker 2: ball for the first time in the second half, still
- 17:29Speaker 2: up ten, and it almost felt like there was some
- 17:32Speaker 2: message in the locker room that was, all right, we
- 17:35Speaker 2: need to step on throats here and we can't just
- 17:37Speaker 2: try to play conservative keep away ball. We need to
- 17:42Speaker 2: put them away with points instead of putting them like
- 17:44Speaker 2: there was almost like a fear of Josh Allen element
- 17:47Speaker 2: where it's like we got to outscore them still because
- 17:50Speaker 2: they're gonna be feisty and comb What.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Gets me with that is real quick, and because it
- 17:54Speaker 1: ties into this comment from Julio here who said the
- 17:56Speaker 1: Pats felt like they had to score they knew we
- 17:58Speaker 1: had comeback. Mojo that and what you said, I think
- 18:02Speaker 1: your common is fair. I think who theo is common
- 18:03Speaker 1: is fair. But if you feel like you have to
- 18:06Speaker 1: score against the Bills, completely understandable.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Just just run it. The best way to score such
- 18:12Speaker 2: it And like you have to understand who you're playing.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And that's that's the thing, because I think in a vacuum,
- 18:19Speaker 2: those messages are true, right, in a vacuum, but because
- 18:22Speaker 2: of who they're playing, it's actually more aggressive to actually
- 18:25Speaker 2: just run the football against the Bill. Yes, that's exactly,
- 18:27Speaker 2: like I get it.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like it's interesting if I'm sitting there with Josh McDaniel,
- 18:30Speaker 1: I'm like, why did you McDaniels, I'm like, why did
- 18:32Speaker 1: you only run through times? It's like, well, you know,
- 18:33Speaker 1: we felt we had to score. I'm like, no, I
- 18:34Speaker 1: get it. You you did need to score, and you
- 18:36Speaker 1: do run the ball. You're no, you're not running the ball.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You weren't running the ball in the first half to
- 18:42Speaker 1: not score, right, We're running the ball to score, to
- 18:44Speaker 1: attack them, And it worked.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And keep very interesting. Keep doing that. I like your
- 18:50Speaker 2: point about the one negative play being like just cause
- 18:53Speaker 2: for not doing it again.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It was like McDaniels like came out and was like
- 18:58Speaker 1: see like yes, Like he was like, I feel like
- 19:01Speaker 1: we should pass the ball here, And as soon as
- 19:02Speaker 1: that negative happened, he was like, that's a sign sign
- 19:05Speaker 1: from the gods.
- 19:06Speaker 2: It's just weird.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We're going from here.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Let's pass it. Let's pass it all over.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And even when like May was missing guys and struggling
- 19:13Speaker 1: a bit, it was like, you know, run the ball.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Even towards the end, I think like their last driver
- 19:19Speaker 1: or the second last drive, and we get into it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: They have a first down run for five yards with
- 19:23Speaker 1: Travion Henderson and then they followed up with two passes
- 19:26Speaker 1: and it's just like just and I get it. Then
- 19:28Speaker 1: it's around like two minutes and you're like, Okay, let's
- 19:30Speaker 1: we got it. We got to start moving here. But
- 19:33Speaker 1: you can still pop off like eight yard runs against
- 19:35Speaker 1: the Bills, fifteen yard runs against the Bills.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 19:38Speaker 1: A very interesting style that they operated with in the
- 19:42Speaker 1: second half. Something I did want to bring up that
- 19:45Speaker 1: ties into this and then we're going to dive into
- 19:46Speaker 1: the film. I was looking at and we're going to
- 19:49Speaker 1: see it a bit with how the Bills attacked the
- 19:51Speaker 1: Patriots in the second half, and I wanted to give
- 19:52Speaker 1: these numbers to kind of frame it. The Bills early down,
- 19:57Speaker 1: so first and second down, early down blitz rate by quarter. Okay,
- 20:04Speaker 1: from a run defense standpoint, it's insane. Their first quarter
- 20:09Speaker 1: so again, early down, first and second down blitz rate
- 20:12Speaker 1: by quarter. First quarter it's twenty one point one percent,
- 20:15Speaker 1: the second quarter it's nineteen percent, the third quarter it
- 20:19Speaker 1: jumps to twenty eight point three percent, and the fourth
- 20:23Speaker 1: quarter it jumps the thirty five point seven So as
- 20:26Speaker 1: soon as the second half starts on the year, they
- 20:28Speaker 1: are very much like And what is indicates to me,
- 20:31Speaker 1: especially when you watch to take uh oh, we're getting
- 20:33Speaker 1: run on. We gotta start sending dudes, we gotta start
- 20:35Speaker 1: sending numbers. We gotta start attacking. We got to play
- 20:37Speaker 1: on the front foot. We gotta start blitzing the run
- 20:41Speaker 1: more so than the past. Now, what's wonking with run
- 20:44Speaker 1: blitz and pass blitzes? Right, If you blitz, you could
- 20:47Speaker 1: be blitzing thinking a pass is coming, but the offense
- 20:50Speaker 1: runs the ball. So it gets charted as a run blitz,
- 20:52Speaker 1: and vice versa, you can be blitzing to stop the run.
- 20:54Speaker 1: The Bills have had this second example with their cornerback
- 20:58Speaker 1: blitz is a bunch right, like they're blitzing to stop
- 21:00Speaker 1: the run. Christian Benford's blitzing Joe Burrow to stop the run.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Burrow ends up throwing it, it turns into a pass blitz.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Benford intercepts it and takes it to the house right.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So depending what the offense ends up doing, that changes
- 21:12Speaker 1: the numbers a bit. But even their pass blitz numbers
- 21:14Speaker 1: on first and second down twenty four point six percent
- 21:17Speaker 1: quarter one thirty point two and quarter two thirty nine
- 21:20Speaker 1: point seven in the third quarter, and then twenty four
- 21:23Speaker 1: point two in the fourth also tying into that third
- 21:27Speaker 1: down blitz rate by quarter, So this one usually you're
- 21:30Speaker 1: getting more passes on third down, so it's more of
- 21:32Speaker 1: a true from a pass blitz standpoint. This is pretty
- 21:35Speaker 1: intense too. Third down blitz rate by quarter for the
- 21:39Speaker 1: Bills first quarter thirteen point three, second quarter seventeen point one,
- 21:46Speaker 1: third quarter thirty eight point five, fourth quarter thirty nine
- 21:51Speaker 1: point five. They turned into Brian Flores in the second
- 21:55Speaker 1: half between the past and even the run, but everything
- 21:58Speaker 1: I put all those to say, come second half, they
- 22:01Speaker 1: are very much a different defense where it's like, okay,
- 22:06Speaker 1: no more, whether it's sitting back literally figuratively, let's start
- 22:10Speaker 1: mugging gaps, we're sending dudes, we're attacking. We're bringing true blitzes.
- 22:14Speaker 1: This isn't even like simulated pressures and creeper pressures or
- 22:17Speaker 1: were still rushing fourth. This is actually five or more rushers.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Like so if those rates are even higher once you
- 22:23Speaker 1: include the sims and the creepers. They start attacking in
- 22:26Speaker 1: that second half, and not just against the Pats but overall.
- 22:30Speaker 1: And I think that's in line with the type of
- 22:32Speaker 1: defense they have, how teams attack them, and I think
- 22:35Speaker 1: that's reflected in the tape, and so I kind of
- 22:39Speaker 1: wanted to not only just in the tape they were
- 22:40Speaker 1: gonna look at, but I think overall, when you watch
- 22:43Speaker 1: this team, it's very it's very interesting how those rates
- 22:46Speaker 1: change because they're not a high blitz rate team. They're
- 22:48Speaker 1: like twenty fourth on the year, twenty fifth bottom. Yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 1: they're low, but it gets into the second half and
- 22:55Speaker 1: between their you know, pass blitzes on third downs and
- 22:58Speaker 1: they're run blitzes on first and second. They become a
- 23:01Speaker 1: blitzing team and they have to That's how they have
- 23:04Speaker 1: to stop the run. They got to use numbers, they
- 23:06Speaker 1: gotta steal gaps. It's not coming down to okay, cool,
- 23:09Speaker 1: we'll just sit with six or seven in the box.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Somebody wins up front. Boom boom.
- 23:13Speaker 2: We're good.
- 23:13Speaker 1: We're solid at our run fits. We got good individual players. No, like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: their scheme doesn't inherently work to stop the run. Neither
- 23:19Speaker 1: do the players that they have, right and how they
- 23:22Speaker 1: built this roster, so they attack it with attacks. They
- 23:25Speaker 1: attack it with blitzes and with run stunts and all
- 23:28Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. So can't out out execute you
- 23:32Speaker 1: got out scheme.
- 23:33Speaker 2: That's fair, that's fair kind of. Let's dive into the tape.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Let's get after it.
- 23:38Speaker 1: That's what everyone's here for. I feel like people would
- 23:40Speaker 1: like to stop talking.
- 23:41Speaker 2: No one cares. That's fair. I understand that. I understand.
- 23:44Speaker 2: All right, let's put it up there. See a big
- 23:46Speaker 2: boy screen.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Okay, this first play here is from so each play
- 23:53Speaker 1: is going to have you know, the little marker that
- 23:54Speaker 1: we see right over yaw, I have this on every
- 23:58Speaker 1: single play. Some of these plays our multi angle, so
- 24:01Speaker 1: we'll have the end zone angle of the sideline angle.
- 24:03Speaker 1: But you're gonna get down here. What's essentially like setting
- 24:06Speaker 1: the stage for each play. So the quarter, the down
- 24:09Speaker 1: and distance, and then the score, whoever's leading, and what
- 24:12Speaker 1: the score is. So this first play, Kendall, this is
- 24:14Speaker 1: the one we talked about with Larry Ogunjoby. It's first
- 24:16Speaker 1: to ten right now, third quarter, first possession for the Pats.
- 24:21Speaker 1: The Bill has just scored, cut the lead to twenty
- 24:23Speaker 1: four to fourteen. Not much going on here other than
- 24:25Speaker 1: a Larry ogun Joby tackle for loss. The Pats are
- 24:28Speaker 1: gonna run a little bit of gh counter. He's gonna
- 24:31Speaker 1: beat the down block from the center right here, get
- 24:34Speaker 1: into the backfield and make a play. I'm gonna watch
- 24:38Speaker 1: Austin Hooper's gonna go a motion. There here comes the
- 24:40Speaker 1: g Here comes the h Watch Larry Ogunjoby. So the
- 24:46Speaker 1: center's coming here trying to see Ogunjoby, and Ogujobe does
- 24:48Speaker 1: a good job beating him, plays right through him, gets
- 24:52Speaker 1: into the backfield, stops Henderson and Josh McDaniel seemingly was
- 24:57Speaker 1: just like okay, the run's never gonna work. Let's This
- 25:00Speaker 1: is a nice play from Larry ogun Jobey for sure,
- 25:03Speaker 1: And I also thought what was nice too on this play.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I like her Russau just squeezes down and spills and
- 25:08Speaker 1: then watch Milano meet and then check Thompson fill right
- 25:14Speaker 1: off of that in the gap like, it's a good fit.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Even if Ogunjobi doesn't, you know, blow this up.
- 25:21Speaker 2: So the guard, they have much better leverage here than
- 25:25Speaker 2: we had in the first half.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yes, the guard looks too log and seal Rousseau inside,
- 25:31Speaker 1: Milano comes forward acts as the forced player, takes on Hooper.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Even if ogun Joby doesn't meet, this here your set
- 25:38Speaker 1: and then he's making his way here. This is a
- 25:40Speaker 1: solid run fit coming out of the second half, so
- 25:42Speaker 1: I wanted to highlight that also in addition to Larry
- 25:45Speaker 1: Ogunjoby's play.
- 25:47Speaker 2: So the thing that I wanted to talk about and
- 25:50Speaker 2: highlight on this play was really how it compares to
- 25:53Speaker 2: the first half, because what I noticed in the first
- 25:55Speaker 2: half was the Bills were particularly getting gashed by gap runs. Yes,
- 26:00Speaker 2: and they went the Patriots went eight for ninety nine
- 26:06Speaker 2: on gap runs in the first half.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Does that include that includes the Henderson house call?
- 26:10Speaker 2: Right?
- 26:11Speaker 1: They does yes, yeah, right, Okay, that's what I thought.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So if you remove that, it's what seven for fifty something,
- 26:18Speaker 1: which is still a very healthy number.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't remember the exact distance of that one,
- 26:23Speaker 2: but point ping. This was the only gap run in
- 26:25Speaker 2: the second half. I mean, there were only three runs
- 26:28Speaker 2: total in the second half, but this is the only
- 26:29Speaker 2: gap run in the second half. But in the first half,
- 26:33Speaker 2: the Patriots were averaging nine point nine yards before contact
- 26:39Speaker 2: per gap run. It's crazy, and like you can see
- 26:42Speaker 2: it here, like it's a very clear adjustment between just
- 26:45Speaker 2: the penetration from Ogunjobi and then the leverage from the linebackers.
- 26:48Speaker 2: You highlighted it perfectly. But as you can see, even
- 26:51Speaker 2: if the the front doesn't deal with the yards before contact,
- 26:56Speaker 2: you see the linebackers are going to get contact before
- 26:59Speaker 2: five yards. Everyone's in position. Everyone has made the proper adjustments.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And it was clear that there was emphasis on Okay,
- 27:07Speaker 2: they're beating us up on these gap runs. We need
- 27:09Speaker 2: to out leverage them to the gap, and they did
- 27:12Speaker 2: a good job of it on this first play. Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I was very happy with this.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Those are some great staff polls on the gap run pieces.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I had numbers in general, and their yards before contact
- 27:22Speaker 1: were like super stark and dramatic. Their yards after contact
- 27:25Speaker 1: were terrible in this game. Like it just they get misstackles,
- 27:28Speaker 1: but if they're also getting they've been decent yards before
- 27:30Speaker 1: contact this year, like middle of the pack, but they
- 27:34Speaker 1: just can't get off blocks. They're only getting shoulders on guys,
- 27:36Speaker 1: which contributes to the yards after contact, and then they're
- 27:38Speaker 1: also missing tackles at times. Muddy, messy, unfortunate. This next
- 27:44Speaker 1: one nothing crazy, So this is the play obviously right
- 27:46Speaker 1: after we're going in sequential order. This is a second
- 27:48Speaker 1: and eleven for the Patriots twenty four to fourteen Pats
- 27:52Speaker 1: at this point. Nothing crazy on this, just a play
- 27:54Speaker 1: action pass from the Patriots. Just I get well Boks
- 27:59Speaker 1: of influences this throw, but you get essentially a short
- 28:03Speaker 1: throw here from Drake May. We're gonna get Stefan Diggs
- 28:07Speaker 1: coming across in the motion, He's gonna come out and
- 28:11Speaker 1: do his Stefan Diggs like kind of slow release, like
- 28:14Speaker 1: what am I doing? A little skip bang, He's gonna
- 28:16Speaker 1: break outside. Bosa really does a good job like influencing
- 28:20Speaker 1: this throw. If you watch Bosa who is.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Right now.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Going slow mo here he sees it, he plays through
- 28:30Speaker 1: the block and not necessarily like heats up may but
- 28:33Speaker 1: gets in this window and the like. This is a
- 28:35Speaker 1: lot of space for for Diggs.
- 28:39Speaker 2: The Bills are essentially in quarters.
- 28:41Speaker 1: They're locking the backside there, so then you got a
- 28:44Speaker 1: quarter their quarter there, and then Trey is dropping as well,
- 28:46Speaker 1: so it's only Milano on the inside. So if this
- 28:49Speaker 1: ball is out in front, this is a catch and turn.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Even if it's a little more here, he can get
- 28:53Speaker 1: a feel maybe cut back like there's an opportunity, but
- 28:55Speaker 1: because of Bosa's presence, it's hard for me to kind
- 28:58Speaker 1: of get the right trajectory and pace on that threat.
- 29:01Speaker 1: It's a little underneath, could catch by Diggs. I also
- 29:03Speaker 1: like how Milano.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Just like Milano gives it to him on that he
- 29:10Speaker 2: doesn't worry. We were gonna get called for that one.
- 29:13Speaker 1: You know what I found in the game, and Digs
- 29:15Speaker 1: got up and said something to him. They holland said
- 29:17Speaker 1: something to him after. But yeah, this is the second
- 29:19Speaker 1: play play action pass not a big game, largely because
- 29:22Speaker 1: Bosa influences the throw.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I'm happy that you clarified that it's quarters. I was
- 29:27Speaker 2: curious if it was cover six with just man to
- 29:30Speaker 2: the top side.
- 29:31Speaker 1: So so much of what they've been doing in this
- 29:34Speaker 1: half like they were, even when they're doing split field
- 29:37Speaker 1: cover stuff, like they're locking yeah, exactly, the quarter side
- 29:40Speaker 1: is essentially a man's side, so much of what they
- 29:42Speaker 1: were doing if there is so like I'll wait for
- 29:45Speaker 1: the motion to come across, and essentially what we're gonna
- 29:47Speaker 1: get here largely is a three by one. There's the three,
- 29:50Speaker 1: and there's the one up here. But even if it's
- 29:52Speaker 1: in shotgun and there's three here, say May is here
- 29:56Speaker 1: and the running back is right here, they a majority
- 30:00Speaker 1: in this second half backside is locked one on one.
- 30:03Speaker 2: The running back is locked too.
- 30:05Speaker 1: So even if it's quarters to that side, whether they're
- 30:08Speaker 1: playing you know, cover six where you've got quarters to
- 30:11Speaker 1: the passing strength, cover two to the back or like
- 30:13Speaker 1: they were playing a lot of it, there's a decent
- 30:14Speaker 1: junk of cover eight in this second half here where
- 30:17Speaker 1: you're playing cover two to the passing strength quarters to
- 30:20Speaker 1: the backside. People still call cover six but which technically
- 30:23Speaker 1: is wrong. But whatever, anytime they would get that quarter side,
- 30:27Speaker 1: whether they were in quarters or if it was with
- 30:28Speaker 1: cover eight, when they were getting that to the back side.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Essentially they're locking it in, man, like this guy's locked
- 30:34Speaker 1: and man, this guy's locked in, man. So what essentially
- 30:37Speaker 1: we get on this one If you watch Harriston stays
- 30:40Speaker 1: on booty, I can't say his name and not laugh.
- 30:44Speaker 1: We get him locked in and then you notice like
- 30:47Speaker 1: Shack initially steps and reads play action, but then he
- 30:49Speaker 1: stops and he sees the boot from May Tarrn continues
- 30:53Speaker 1: because Terryn is locked and man. Yeah, because you even
- 30:56Speaker 1: notice too, like Terran, like Arran is making kind of
- 30:58Speaker 1: a b line to go this way. It's not like
- 31:00Speaker 1: he's just covering down and giving it a no cover zone.
- 31:03Speaker 2: He's playing the run and then also playing the running backs.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Trey gets me a little here because he hinges.
- 31:09Speaker 2: That's where I got confused on this on which side
- 31:12Speaker 2: was the actual quarters, because it could be I read
- 31:15Speaker 2: it as the field side.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Part of me is also thinking two is so. But
- 31:22Speaker 1: because he's still in like a quarters alignment here and
- 31:24Speaker 1: he's not widening, it makes you think this front side
- 31:27Speaker 1: is still quarters or it could be to read or
- 31:32Speaker 1: palms where Trey is opening up. And because palms, you'll
- 31:37Speaker 1: still have that safety that's safe. You'll still be in
- 31:39Speaker 1: like quarters or cover four alignment, and then Trey will
- 31:44Speaker 1: sit and read two to one and exactly pops out.
- 31:47Speaker 1: He'll jump it. But maybe he's sitting here thinking like okay,
- 31:50Speaker 1: but he would still respect that a bit underneath.
- 31:52Speaker 2: But yeah, because you can see as Hollands breaks it off,
- 31:55Speaker 2: he's getting depth with him.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So that makes me think covered the Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 32:00Speaker 1: that's that's for me. Why it's just the board. They're
- 32:05Speaker 1: locking the backside and then playing more of a true
- 32:08Speaker 1: quarters to the field.
- 32:09Speaker 2: When I watched this, I mean, I don't like to
- 32:11Speaker 2: just watch film to assign blame, but I like to
- 32:13Speaker 2: watch film to figure out, Okay, why is their open grass?
- 32:17Speaker 2: And to me, I was trying to figure out, like, okay,
- 32:19Speaker 2: is it Tray is at Milano. Milano gets sucked up
- 32:21Speaker 2: by the play action fake and you know if he's
- 32:24Speaker 2: supposed to play the the wide flat here, like he's
- 32:28Speaker 2: just not going to get there in time because he
- 32:30Speaker 2: has false steps towards the run, Like that's not necessarily
- 32:32Speaker 2: that's also him.
- 32:33Speaker 1: That's also one indicates quarters to me too, like so yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 1: it's the true Like again, they're locking the backside, but
- 32:39Speaker 1: then Milano steps in because he's in the run fit.
- 32:42Speaker 1: But after the play action you see him immediately get
- 32:46Speaker 1: eyes to get with He's like, oh, I have to
- 32:49Speaker 1: get over here.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Okay. Cool. So that makes sense that I was trying
- 32:53Speaker 2: to figure out, like why there's so much open grass
- 32:55Speaker 2: there and why Tray was just so wi.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Corror quarters whatever, whether spot drop or match, you get
- 33:01Speaker 1: that that flat is a vulnerable, vulnerable spot, which again
- 33:05Speaker 1: is understandable to play.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Actually, you had a good play call, but Joey bow
- 33:08Speaker 2: is good play call, but against another play call, Like
- 33:10Speaker 2: sometimes there's just gonna be openings.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I love how he just straight sumo splashes. There's there's
- 33:15Speaker 1: some all jokes aside, like there's some way to the splash.
- 33:18Speaker 2: You can feel it, oh for sure. And for years
- 33:21Speaker 2: that's been Oh this is what we teach, like make
- 33:24Speaker 2: them feel you.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah, make him feel you. He did on that one.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Shout out to him this next one. So this is
- 33:30Speaker 1: the end of this drive. This is a third and
- 33:32Speaker 1: seven for the Pats, still in the third quarter twenty
- 33:34Speaker 1: four to fourteen. Then we're gonna look at two camera
- 33:36Speaker 1: angles on this one. This is Matt Mlonald's sack first
- 33:40Speaker 1: sec of the game, I should say what we're gonna.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Get from me on this one?
- 33:44Speaker 1: My you know, charting on this it's quarters from the bills,
- 33:47Speaker 1: but they're gonna bring Dorian, so you essentially get a
- 33:51Speaker 1: five man rush. And if the running back leaks are releases,
- 33:54Speaker 1: Dorian Williams here would take him, so he's essentially adding
- 33:57Speaker 1: on as a rusher here. I'm gonna talk about that
- 33:58Speaker 1: more in detail in a minute. And then and the
- 34:01Speaker 1: solo receiver side again, you they're locking him in meg coverage,
- 34:04Speaker 1: which is mayn everywhere he goes, that's Harston to the
- 34:07Speaker 1: bottom of the screen there and then to the top.
- 34:09Speaker 1: They're essentially playing like a box or a four to
- 34:12Speaker 1: over three. So also what happened on this one, I
- 34:15Speaker 1: gotta be careful with like how I time the cutups
- 34:18Speaker 1: so like things don't get flagged for copyright and all
- 34:21Speaker 1: this nonsense. But what you saw initially Remandre was oh,
- 34:24Speaker 1: come on, what's going on here?
- 34:25Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 34:25Speaker 1: Ramandre was lined up out here.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Why are you not doing? Okay?
- 34:29Speaker 1: It was lined out up here. It won't let me
- 34:31Speaker 1: do it down, but he was lined up down more
- 34:32Speaker 1: like closer to the boundary. May calls him in motion
- 34:35Speaker 1: Dorian goes with him and is now here, so Dorian
- 34:40Speaker 1: is going to attack Remandre on the staff. We saw
- 34:43Speaker 1: so much of this in the second half, where the
- 34:44Speaker 1: Bills were attacking the running back and if the running
- 34:48Speaker 1: back would step up and meet them and release, they'd
- 34:52Speaker 1: go with them. If the running back stayed in the block,
- 34:55Speaker 1: they would turn into an add on rusher and go,
- 34:57Speaker 1: or they might just create a collision point at the line,
- 35:00Speaker 1: keep him here and kind of spy May. So it
- 35:02Speaker 1: was a nice job kind of taking away that option
- 35:06Speaker 1: for Drake May. And again here we go. Here's harriston
- 35:09Speaker 1: man eyes on Booty, so we got meg coverage to
- 35:12Speaker 1: the bottom where he's locked in.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Dorriian attacks.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Ramandre sees that he's staying in the block, so he's like,
- 35:18Speaker 1: all right, cool, let me become a fifth rusher. And
- 35:21Speaker 1: then here we're just matching over here. We've got four.
- 35:24Speaker 1: That's a horrible shape there. It looked like I drew
- 35:26Speaker 1: trappasoy or whatever that is, uh, four over three, and
- 35:29Speaker 1: they're just matching the distribution. So and it actually works
- 35:33Speaker 1: out pretty well with what they do because you've got
- 35:35Speaker 1: kind of a loose bunch up here. But it turns
- 35:38Speaker 1: into a whole bunch of switch releases and they pass
- 35:41Speaker 1: this off decent. You see tearing the nickel. He's gonna
- 35:44Speaker 1: go up top with Diggs and essentially matches him there.
- 35:48Speaker 1: This becomes the vertical. So these two right here, Trey
- 35:52Speaker 1: and Bishop are relating to that, and then Shaq Thompson
- 35:55Speaker 1: has the innermost man, which is Matt Collins coming on
- 35:57Speaker 1: the drag.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Shack's there. There's opportunity for Mac to get this ball
- 36:02Speaker 2: and maybe if he gets him out the run.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe he beats Shaq, but Shaq is decently moving
- 36:06Speaker 1: with him, is ahead of him a bit. Maybe he
- 36:08Speaker 1: can cut this thing off. But you can see even again,
- 36:11Speaker 1: we started out from his zone perspective. Look at Terren's eyes.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Now he's locked in because he's matching. Shaq is moving
- 36:18Speaker 1: in relation to him. He's matching, So essentially got like
- 36:22Speaker 1: that quarter's look, but it would be more of a
- 36:24Speaker 1: true you know seven in coverage. If if Ramandre would
- 36:30Speaker 1: have come right here on the snap and gone this way,
- 36:32Speaker 1: Dorian would have gone with him. So we're still locking
- 36:34Speaker 1: that backside. But what's nice again, if he releases, he's
- 36:38Speaker 1: getting man covered. If he stays in the block. We're
- 36:40Speaker 1: attacking him, we're creating an add on Rusher scenario, which
- 36:44Speaker 1: is what happens. We get a five essentially a five
- 36:47Speaker 1: man pressure. Joey Bosa goes under, which forces me to
- 36:52Speaker 1: step up a little bit. Greg Russeau slices in and
- 36:56Speaker 1: goes hi create a little high low, tries to get
- 36:58Speaker 1: May and then Milano. Wich'll see from the end zone
- 37:00Speaker 1: Angle was able to fight through and he's the one
- 37:03Speaker 1: who brings down Drake May for the sec.
- 37:08Speaker 2: So it's one of those examples of good marriage of
- 37:11Speaker 2: Russian coverage. You definitely said the one the one point
- 37:15Speaker 2: that I was a little upset about, and I personally
- 37:19Speaker 2: would have liked to see Shack squeeze a little bit
- 37:21Speaker 2: closer on Matt Collins there. I felt like as he
- 37:24Speaker 2: was kind of pivoting to run with him, he got
- 37:26Speaker 2: a little more depth than he probably even intended to,
- 37:31Speaker 2: probably just a momentum thing more than anything fair, But
- 37:35Speaker 2: I would have liked to see him squeeze it a
- 37:37Speaker 2: little bit closer. But yeah, what the Bills decided to
- 37:40Speaker 2: do in this second half with how they plastered to
- 37:43Speaker 2: running backs and just okay, we're gonna green dog the
- 37:45Speaker 2: running back for the rest of this half, Like, just
- 37:49Speaker 2: man up on him. Whatever he does, follow him, add
- 37:52Speaker 2: on if you have to, whatever you're doing, just take
- 37:54Speaker 2: him away. Because the Patriots, I'm pretty sure they're still
- 37:57Speaker 2: I know they were early in the season top ten
- 37:59Speaker 2: and past ten per game to running backs. It's a
- 38:03Speaker 2: big part of Josh McDaniel's offense. He likes to utilize
- 38:06Speaker 2: running backs, not just in the running game. So it's
- 38:08Speaker 2: a really smart game plan to either force the Patriots
- 38:12Speaker 2: to add them on to the pass protection or you're
- 38:16Speaker 2: taking them away from the route distribution because you're just
- 38:19Speaker 2: manning them up from the get go. So I like
- 38:21Speaker 2: the game plan, the adjustment that they went with in
- 38:24Speaker 2: the second half, and it kind of, you know, as
- 38:26Speaker 2: Bill Belichick us still say, takes their strong hand away,
- 38:29Speaker 2: make them play with their weekend fair.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I think it's a fair call on Shack to My
- 38:34Speaker 1: thought with him is I think initially he's so I
- 38:38Speaker 1: think he sees the switch release m this becomes the
- 38:42Speaker 1: new number three, which is who he has to relate
- 38:45Speaker 1: to as they're matching here with four over three. I
- 38:48Speaker 1: think he turns it up into depth. Yeah, So I
- 38:51Speaker 1: think he's looking to match that. And then he gets
- 38:53Speaker 1: eyes to Hollins and is.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Like, uh oh, and he's actually going to be that.
- 38:59Speaker 1: He's going to be the number three three.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Let me pivot bit here, like right there, I want
- 39:03Speaker 2: him to drive a little more. Just just drive on
- 39:06Speaker 2: it by like a flat Yeah, it's just going flat
- 39:09Speaker 2: with it, like you have the space, you have the speed,
- 39:11Speaker 2: like you can keep up with him. Just drive a
- 39:13Speaker 2: little bit to take it away. But I mean, no harm,
- 39:15Speaker 2: no foul, We're fine. Here is great rush from Rousseau,
- 39:18Speaker 2: good long arm and then good effort rush from Milana
- 39:20Speaker 2: to squeeze through.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I like how it works in tannem with one another.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Like you see Bosa, you see already loading up with
- 39:25Speaker 1: a cross shop. He goes this way, Rousseau eats a
- 39:30Speaker 1: punch to the face. Also, I hate complaining with it,
- 39:32Speaker 1: but like it was funny that Mike Rabel wanted to
- 39:34Speaker 1: talk about the lack of holding penalties calls.
- 39:36Speaker 2: There was a lot of illegal hands to the face
- 39:38Speaker 2: from the Patriots in this game that weren't a ton.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Rousseau punched in the face like literally like three times
- 39:44Speaker 1: off the top of my head that I can think
- 39:45Speaker 1: of right now, and it was nice.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Truthfully, felt like this game was just poorly officiated on
- 39:49Speaker 2: all sides.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I don't think it was interference on the Trey White interception.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I also don't think it was interference on Carlton Davis
- 39:56Speaker 1: on Keon Coleman. I also don't think it was interference
- 39:58Speaker 1: on Marcus Jones on Khalioshia here. But if you're not
- 40:01Speaker 1: gonna call one thought it was.
- 40:03Speaker 2: I'm I think if there's one of the three that
- 40:06Speaker 2: should no. He he starts to he starts to turn.
- 40:13Speaker 1: He starts to see it though it's not his fault
- 40:16Speaker 1: that the quarterback under threw the ball.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Okay, so that's one hundred the talking point. However, the
- 40:22Speaker 2: precedent has been set that thrown.
- 40:25Speaker 1: That's why I hate the president can kick. We can't
- 40:30Speaker 1: reward the quarterback for under throwing the ball. What you're
- 40:34Speaker 1: saying at the top, Jones recovered Alan under throws it
- 40:37Speaker 1: a bit, so Jones is chasing after him, and then
- 40:40Speaker 1: all of a sudden he sees Shaki go up, so
- 40:43Speaker 1: he turns for it, but as he turns here, they
- 40:46Speaker 1: collide and he gets flagged.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Thirty years of precedent, man, that's thirty years of throwing
- 40:52Speaker 2: that flag.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Some people try to erase president every single day. Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: but I like this. Bosa goes outside, he gets popped,
- 40:58Speaker 1: so works his way back in. And then what's nice
- 41:00Speaker 1: here this last little piece from Malone. Nice little club
- 41:03Speaker 1: right here with his outside I'm just in that arm inside. Yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 1: work his way through and he is the benefit.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Chary Noise I liked similar from Rousseau, the disengage with
- 41:15Speaker 2: the outside arm, as he had the long arm there
- 41:18Speaker 2: to get kind of the initial so he gets that
- 41:20Speaker 2: risk control right here, Like as he's getting the illegal
- 41:23Speaker 2: hands to the face, he gets yep, engaged with them.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Look at him, look and just remove that hand and
- 41:28Speaker 1: be like, get off me. And then works right through
- 41:30Speaker 1: that inside shoulder.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Nice.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Even Dorian too, Dorian, right, y'all going after Mandre Stevenson.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Watch Dorian attack Remandre and he plays through, uses that length,
- 41:40Speaker 1: nice little shed there, moves right through.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Nice And I think this was the start of a
- 41:44Speaker 2: lot of stuff for really noticing may start to feel uncomfortable.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I think was that play? Good call?
- 41:52Speaker 1: Comment here from James who said why did the Patriots
- 41:55Speaker 1: only have three running plays with a seven point seventeen point.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Lead after halftime, we asked that same question. I have
- 42:00Speaker 2: no idea.
- 42:01Speaker 1: No one knows because the script didn't call for it, because.
- 42:04Speaker 2: The NFL is raked. If like, if I was a
- 42:08Speaker 2: Pats content person, that's.
- 42:10Speaker 1: All I would be talking about this week, I would
- 42:12Speaker 1: I would be so for sure this next one first
- 42:15Speaker 1: and ten for the Patriots. It is now twenty four
- 42:16Speaker 1: to twenty one because the Bills have scored eight touchdown.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Nothing crazy here is just to cover one blitz. You
- 42:21Speaker 1: were going to see Cole Bishop here as the blitzer.
- 42:26Speaker 1: We're gonna get man coverage across the board as it
- 42:28Speaker 1: shows man man man, man, single high post safety.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Bishop's gonna blitz.
- 42:34Speaker 1: We're gonna get uh a completion of Rimandre Stevenson out
- 42:37Speaker 1: of the backfield on a swing route. He beat Check
- 42:38Speaker 1: Thompson upfield, and we get some easy yardage.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Like I said, McDaniels likes to likes to include the
- 42:46Speaker 2: running backs, and I think made it a good job
- 42:48Speaker 2: there of id ing just okay, quick man coverage. There's
- 42:52Speaker 2: add on blitz got to get rid of the ball quickly.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Then there's kind of the natural rub with Hooper's route
- 42:57Speaker 2: there and creates a tough angle for Shackle definitely could
- 43:01Speaker 2: have made the tackle. Would have liked to see him
- 43:03Speaker 2: make that tackle, but he has a lot of space.
- 43:06Speaker 2: So you kind of on the other side of things,
- 43:08Speaker 2: if you're a Patriots fan, you also expect for Montre
- 43:10Speaker 2: to make that first Yes.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Very fair. Yeah, you'd love to make this tackle and
- 43:14Speaker 1: turn into a second and eight or whatever. My main
- 43:17Speaker 1: thing on this one, I didn't understand it during the broadcast,
- 43:19Speaker 1: and I still don't understand it here. I don't know
- 43:22Speaker 1: why Milano also got flagged for on sportsmanlike conduct.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Oh that was a weird one. Yeah, that was doing
- 43:27Speaker 2: it right. No, he does nothing.
- 43:29Speaker 1: He's not doing anything right now, Like he pushes Remandre
- 43:32Speaker 1: or kind of gets him off a little.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Remo also punches him in the face. Then he gets
- 43:36Speaker 2: the number calls, I think so. I think what they
- 43:39Speaker 2: were trying to call was the retaliation for Dion Walker
- 43:42Speaker 2: probably mouthing off, is my guess. But they botched the
- 43:46Speaker 2: number assignments on who was flagged. I guess at the
- 43:49Speaker 2: end of the day, I'm glad they washed it right,
- 43:52Speaker 2: didn't they just call uh replay the down? Yes, I
- 43:56Speaker 2: got washed for uh. I mean, if you're gonna mess
- 43:58Speaker 2: it up like that, like, well, no, the death the
- 44:00Speaker 2: down stood because it was after the play. But they ye,
- 44:03Speaker 2: you're right, you're right, you're right off setting fouels. Which
- 44:06Speaker 2: that was my time watching it live. I guess watching
- 44:09Speaker 2: it live, I guess it wasn't fair.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Next fair, next play here, we are going to get
- 44:15Speaker 1: an angle route or a Texas route to Man.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I'm so.
- 44:19Speaker 1: I already said it in my head. I've been saying
- 44:21Speaker 1: Travon Henderson for some reason. I always want to say
- 44:23Speaker 1: Devrey Henderson, the old Saints wider. Yeah, and I said
- 44:26Speaker 1: it in my head. Now Travon Henderson, a little angle
- 44:29Speaker 1: route out of the backfield. This is one where the
- 44:33Speaker 1: Bills are in cover eight, so we're going to get covered.
- 44:36Speaker 2: So cover eight for cover six. There you go. Well
- 44:39Speaker 2: it's still like you no, but what you said earlier
- 44:42Speaker 2: makes me feel better about the designation. You're not.
- 44:45Speaker 1: You're technically like not wrong. It's just the difference of
- 44:48Speaker 1: like quarter quarter half versus half quarter quarter. The only
- 44:52Speaker 1: difference is Cover eight. It's cover two to the passing
- 44:55Speaker 1: strength quarters to the non passing strength Cover six. Thank yes,
- 45:00Speaker 1: I would cover exactly cover six's quarters to the passing
- 45:04Speaker 1: strength and then cover two.
- 45:06Speaker 2: This is a learning experience for everyone, folks.
- 45:11Speaker 1: This is one so where it plays out right where again,
- 45:14Speaker 1: So now because we're in cover eight, we're getting cover
- 45:16Speaker 1: two to this side, we're getting quarters to this side,
- 45:18Speaker 1: and like I talked about, when we're getting that quarters
- 45:21Speaker 1: to the back side, it's essentially they're locked. This is
- 45:25Speaker 1: meg Man. Everywhere he goes Mlonald's locked on the running
- 45:28Speaker 1: back like that's what has happened so much. So we'll
- 45:31Speaker 1: watch the kind of play out here. You see Trey,
- 45:34Speaker 1: he's gonna get a jam or.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Like a re route on bootie. Watch him open and hinge.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Also notice Cole Bishop he's kind of aligned at quarters depth.
- 45:44Speaker 1: He's gonna widen. Why because that is the cover two side.
- 45:48Speaker 1: So you see him widen and get depth. We got
- 45:51Speaker 1: a hook curl here, the vertical hook defender there. So
- 45:55Speaker 1: we're rocking Cover two to this side here and then
- 45:58Speaker 1: straight up locked in man and here locked in man.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Here you see Milano has to flow over the top
- 46:04Speaker 1: here of Hunter Henry, which is nice for Henderson.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Yep. So here goes Milano.
- 46:10Speaker 1: He has to flow over the top and watch how
- 46:12Speaker 1: perfectly at times right as he flows over the top.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Is when Henderson kind of puts his foot in the
- 46:16Speaker 1: ground on that angle route. Bang, Milonal's still working over
- 46:20Speaker 1: the top. Henderson's already breaking inside. Milano actually does a
- 46:23Speaker 1: pretty good job to cut this thing down and make
- 46:25Speaker 1: the play in space because he's out leveraged, which is
- 46:28Speaker 1: nice to see.
- 46:29Speaker 2: This is great sequencing too for McDaniels after the play before.
- 46:33Speaker 2: It's very similar where Shack has to get around that
- 46:37Speaker 2: tight aligned tight end. Very similar kind of natural rub there,
- 46:42Speaker 2: but instead of you know, the threatening swing pass, you
- 46:46Speaker 2: show the swing and then cut it off with the
- 46:48Speaker 2: Texas route. Just watching this every single time just makes
- 46:52Speaker 2: me wonder, like, are we ever going to see a
- 46:53Speaker 2: Texas route from James Cook this year? I would really
- 46:57Speaker 2: like that. Like we've seen a whole lot of wheel
- 46:59Speaker 2: routes and I guess not a lot of swing player
- 47:02Speaker 2: some flare routes and some flat routes. Like yeah, but
- 47:05Speaker 2: it seems somewhat natural to cut it off and make
- 47:09Speaker 2: it a Texas route at some point. It's very similar
- 47:11Speaker 2: sequencing to what we just saw there. You run the
- 47:15Speaker 2: you run the swing, then you run the Texas, maybe
- 47:17Speaker 2: the bills. You run the wheel then you run the
- 47:19Speaker 2: Texas or a dig something there to dream.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Yeah, right, dream this next play second and four for
- 47:28Speaker 1: the pages. So now this is one right, you just
- 47:31Speaker 1: got first and ten, got a six year completion to
- 47:33Speaker 1: Travon Henderson. Right, it's second and four. The Bills have
- 47:38Speaker 1: scored two straight touchdowns.
- 47:40Speaker 2: You haven't.
- 47:41Speaker 1: You've had the ball once you punted. It's second and four.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Run the football.
- 47:47Speaker 1: If you're the run the football right now. You should
- 47:49Speaker 1: be running the football. Don't get cute. It's second and four.
- 47:52Speaker 1: You could probably pick up all four. Worst case, you
- 47:56Speaker 1: get it to third and two, third and one, I'd
- 47:58Speaker 1: run it again, and then i'd run it on fourth down,
- 48:00Speaker 1: and you can probably pick up the first. And you're
- 48:02Speaker 1: chewing up clock while you're doing it, adding downs they
- 48:06Speaker 1: pass here, spoiler, it's an incompletion. Got yes, it.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Even more so?
- 48:12Speaker 1: Right like and even with this look, granted, you know,
- 48:15Speaker 1: maybe this could be a blitz. You could see something
- 48:17Speaker 1: from the Bills here, but it's second and four. I've
- 48:21Speaker 1: struggled to get a rhythm. If I'm the Patriots, if
- 48:23Speaker 1: i'm McDaniel's, I'm seeing what the Bills are doing on
- 48:25Speaker 1: the other side, and I think to your point, to
- 48:29Speaker 1: Julio's point earlier, I think they were like, well, we
- 48:32Speaker 1: got to answer, and I agree, But you could have
- 48:34Speaker 1: just ran the ball and answered with the run. You
- 48:36Speaker 1: still could have scored, and you could have taken up
- 48:38Speaker 1: time at the same time. But to teach their own,
- 48:41Speaker 1: what you're gonna get from the bills ends up being
- 48:44Speaker 1: exactly what it looks like. So you're gonna get two
- 48:47Speaker 1: man coverage here, and you've got press across the board.
- 48:51Speaker 1: So man coverage press from Max Harrison up top against
- 48:54Speaker 1: booty press, Taron Johnson one on one with Hunter Henry
- 48:59Speaker 1: press man coverage Trey White at the bottom against Mac Collins.
- 49:05Speaker 1: So again two man, all that is is man coverage
- 49:07Speaker 1: underneath with two split field safeties. I really like what
- 49:11Speaker 1: the corners do here, Max's coverage up top. And then
- 49:16Speaker 1: what's really nice, we're gonna see Tearn and Trey simultaneously
- 49:19Speaker 1: get into each of their receivers hip pockets, get in trail,
- 49:23Speaker 1: get their eyes on hips completely in phase. So let's start.
- 49:26Speaker 1: We'll start with this piece here. First, watch Terran and
- 49:28Speaker 1: watch Trey how almost synchronized and coordinated. This is let's
- 49:32Speaker 1: move with our man we're playing with man eyes. We're watching.
- 49:35Speaker 1: I like how Terren plays through the contact that Henry's
- 49:38Speaker 1: trying to create.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Here is giving up fifty pounds yep and.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Height and length and all that. Watch Terryn and Tray
- 49:45Speaker 1: both at the same time like slip right into each bank.
- 49:50Speaker 1: They're like in mirrored matching trail. While at the top
- 49:54Speaker 1: Max is engaged with his man. There is very little
- 49:57Speaker 1: wiggle room. They are restricting air space. May wants to
- 50:02Speaker 1: go to mac Collins. But look at this, like Trey
- 50:05Speaker 1: is eyes on hips, eyes on hips here, they're watching,
- 50:09Speaker 1: they're reading the routes. They also know they got some
- 50:11Speaker 1: support over the top right there to that side, and
- 50:14Speaker 1: watch Trey just stay sticky, stay attached to Hollands runs
- 50:19Speaker 1: the route for him, a great position. Honestly, if there's
- 50:23Speaker 1: a better throw, maybe it gets intercepted. Although Trey rounds
- 50:25Speaker 1: it out a little bit and he's on the back
- 50:26Speaker 1: of Hollins. We get it in completion tip Trey is excited.
- 50:32Speaker 1: The other thing I wanted to highlight on this one too,
- 50:35Speaker 1: so because we're in two man same thing with the
- 50:37Speaker 1: linebackers man coverage, man coverage, and Milano just creates a
- 50:42Speaker 1: collision point with Romandre Stevenson. And like we talked about earlier,
- 50:47Speaker 1: like I just they challenged the running backs a lot,
- 50:49Speaker 1: either made them stay into pass pro or they created
- 50:52Speaker 1: these collision points with them when they would release. And
- 50:55Speaker 1: Milonald's is a good one here, Like watch Milano just
- 50:58Speaker 1: step up and collision point. Yep, just eat him. And
- 51:03Speaker 1: it's second and four, so it's legal. He's not holding him,
- 51:07Speaker 1: he's just banging with him.
- 51:08Speaker 2: It's under five yards.
- 51:09Speaker 1: That's legal contact even you know, decent job from Shack
- 51:12Speaker 1: here too. On Yeah, run with Travion, Yeah, some decent
- 51:16Speaker 1: moving for him to come up and be like a
- 51:18Speaker 1: little optional okay, cool, let me go this way and
- 51:20Speaker 1: decent but restricted airspace, good coverage two man, I would
- 51:26Speaker 1: have run the ball, yeah right, And I'm not saying
- 51:30Speaker 1: that in hindsight, like I against this Bill's defense.
- 51:33Speaker 2: It's second and four, run the ball. If it's me
- 51:35Speaker 2: in hindsight, like I wish I didn't go pony and
- 51:38Speaker 2: I had maybe I went twelve that way. The front
- 51:43Speaker 2: would feel better to run into right, because it's like,
- 51:46Speaker 2: what are you expecting Trevion or Romandre to be a
- 51:49Speaker 2: lead blocker on that play? Because you're you're actually kind
- 51:52Speaker 2: of at a numbers disadvantage six feet five there.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I've met ramondre be a lead blocker for trade, so
- 51:57Speaker 1: in theory, so would I, but he can.
- 52:01Speaker 2: I would obviously prefer twelve personnel if we're playing hindsight bias.
- 52:06Speaker 2: But I think what I notice here, and I noticed
- 52:09Speaker 2: it live. It really felt like Drake may was picking
- 52:13Speaker 2: on Trey White Mac Collins matchup just because of the mismatch,
- 52:16Speaker 2: and I felt like when he realized, like, I don't
- 52:20Speaker 2: like my options here, everyone feels covered, and you saw
- 52:23Speaker 2: it on this play. This was very good rush coverage
- 52:25Speaker 2: marriage here. It felt like he was like, Okay, I'm
- 52:28Speaker 2: just gonna put it in a spot where only my
- 52:30Speaker 2: guy can get it. And that explains the ball placement
- 52:32Speaker 2: on this one, because you said it, if it's a
- 52:34Speaker 2: better ball, Trey probably picks it. But he puts it
- 52:36Speaker 2: in a spot where, Okay, my guy has what five
- 52:39Speaker 2: inches on Trey, I'm gonna put it in a spot that, yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 2: Collins is what like six three six four six three
- 52:44Speaker 2: six four something like that, So yeah, he puts it
- 52:47Speaker 2: in a spot where only Mac can get it. And
- 52:49Speaker 2: I mean, no harm, no foul. And I mean, I
- 52:51Speaker 2: guess aside from not running the ball, no harm, no foul.
- 52:54Speaker 2: So I think it's a sound process from Drake, but
- 52:59Speaker 2: better coverage from the Bills.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, very fair, kudos to the car I like how
- 53:03Speaker 1: Trey Trey's feeling it a little bit.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Oh for sure, you could tell he was feeling it.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you can watch him right here, Like watch him
- 53:11Speaker 1: point as if he's like.
- 53:13Speaker 2: This is the start of this building. Yeah, a little bit.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Now third and four for the Patriots. Why because it's
- 53:19Speaker 1: the next play. In the previous play with second four
- 53:21Speaker 1: we got incompletion third and four. Now we're going to
- 53:25Speaker 1: get a completion for the Patriots. So one of their honestly,
- 53:28Speaker 1: they're better plays of the second half. Along with the
- 53:30Speaker 1: big Henderson house call. You get this nice completion to
- 53:33Speaker 1: Digs on the drag. I want to call out Matt Mlano.
- 53:37Speaker 1: You can see him in motion right now. This is
- 53:40Speaker 1: what we saw a bunch of I mentioned it earlier
- 53:42Speaker 1: when I was pointing to the bottom of the screen
- 53:43Speaker 1: when like Remandre was here, but I didn't show that part.
- 53:46Speaker 1: I just showed Dorian here and re Remandre here. If
- 53:49Speaker 1: you notice Milano, why is he coming out here because
- 53:52Speaker 1: Romandre Stevenson was up here, Milano was out here with him.
- 53:56Speaker 1: May has called him back in, so Milano is now
- 53:59Speaker 1: traveling with him.
- 54:00Speaker 2: So we've got this third.
- 54:01Speaker 1: And four, So we got him traveling Remandre. Same thing
- 54:05Speaker 1: as we've been talking about a bit. Milano is going
- 54:08Speaker 1: to attack Rimandre Stevenson. Ramandre is going to release, so
- 54:12Speaker 1: Milana is going to attach. Like we talked about earlier
- 54:15Speaker 1: with Dorian Williams, if Ramandre would have stayed in, I've
- 54:19Speaker 1: Saidmandre more in this last thirty seconds that I.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Have read in my entire life.
- 54:22Speaker 1: If Rimandre would have stayed in, Milana would have been
- 54:25Speaker 1: an add on rusher like we saw earlier with Dorian.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Right, what ends up being kind of cool with this?
- 54:30Speaker 1: I like this ends up kind of essentially turning into
- 54:32Speaker 1: odd mirror with two man behind it. I don't love
- 54:35Speaker 1: Shack's positioning, which we're going to talk about, but May
- 54:39Speaker 1: ends up hitting digs on the drags. We'll start with
- 54:42Speaker 1: the Milano piece who he's going to attack Remandre. See
- 54:48Speaker 1: you'd see May and Ramandre talking having a little chat
- 54:51Speaker 1: like he's like, yep, he's calling on the protection. He's
- 54:53Speaker 1: iding everything because again, what are the bill shown here?
- 54:55Speaker 1: It's third and four, but we've got one, two, three, four, five,
- 55:00Speaker 1: six very viable rushers. And if we're looking at everything
- 55:03Speaker 1: on the back end, what does everything scream?
- 55:05Speaker 2: Man? Man? Yeah, man, exactly so. And you just saw
- 55:10Speaker 2: the early from Jordan Hancock.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Right, very fair, and we just saw what we literally
- 55:15Speaker 1: saw two man on the play before, so maybe you're
- 55:18Speaker 1: thinking it's the same thing calling everything out. Here's Milano
- 55:21Speaker 1: who came in with Remandre were a little.
- 55:26Speaker 2: So watch Milana.
- 55:27Speaker 1: He steps up rusher here it come, but immediately gets
- 55:32Speaker 1: eyes and shifts over and meets from and Andre Stevenson.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Now Remandre is going to release, So what does milanald do?
- 55:38Speaker 1: Collision point attaches mugs him right, But nothing else essentially
- 55:45Speaker 1: matters because Stefon Diggs is one on one with Araron
- 55:48Speaker 1: Johnson again essentially have man coverage here, tarn is gonna
- 55:53Speaker 1: get beat by digs, lots of space bang, completion, catch
- 56:01Speaker 1: and run.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Now, I'm curious what you think about this, because I
- 56:04Speaker 2: know you watched, you've watched the film on this game,
- 56:07Speaker 2: but more than I already have, I've really only seen
- 56:09Speaker 2: this second half, but just in this second half. I
- 56:13Speaker 2: felt like Diggs was winning a lot and separating a
- 56:17Speaker 2: lot on these like quick double moves, not deep double moves,
- 56:21Speaker 2: but just kind of like shimmying and giving Tarn just
- 56:25Speaker 2: a little bit extra body language, and then separating from
- 56:29Speaker 2: him on the second move, like almost like a scramble
- 56:32Speaker 2: drill type of just create out of nothing type of route. Yeah,
- 56:36Speaker 2: and it felt like he gave him an extra shimmy
- 56:39Speaker 2: here where Tarn didn't believe that it was a quick slant.
- 56:43Speaker 2: But it was just a quick slant. He just ran
- 56:45Speaker 2: the route that was called on the play sheet, and
- 56:47Speaker 2: I don't think Tarren believed it.
- 56:49Speaker 1: You know what's funny, Yeah, because you even see that
- 56:52Speaker 1: this comment here from RC who says, why does Terren
- 56:54Speaker 1: stutter in his pace?
- 56:55Speaker 2: Exactly? That's what made me see that because a few
- 56:58Speaker 2: plays prior, uh digs uncovered from Terran.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Well yeah, I was even thinking even too, how he
- 57:04Speaker 1: ran that route on Milana off the play action. He
- 57:08Speaker 1: comes off the line and he.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Pops here but then pops back down somewhat similar to that.
- 57:12Speaker 2: It just wasn't against Terran.
- 57:13Speaker 1: So yes, he paces his routes in those very deceptive ways.
- 57:18Speaker 1: I would bet that's a call out from the coaching like, hey,
- 57:21Speaker 1: you can't sell out the first move. Yes, don't fall
- 57:24Speaker 1: for that first move because you can see that's a
- 57:27Speaker 1: great call. Like he digs steps and Tarran is like, okay.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Just doesn't buy it. He just doesn't buy the quick slant,
- 57:33Speaker 2: that's all it is.
- 57:34Speaker 1: And he stops right here like he chills it. Yeah,
- 57:38Speaker 1: he breaks down and then all of a sudden he's like,
- 57:40Speaker 1: uh oh, oh he is still going.
- 57:42Speaker 2: You can even see him his eyes.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Terran's eyes are almost a little more kind of like
- 57:48Speaker 1: in the backfield, like looking through to May through digs
- 57:51Speaker 1: and then watch his head.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, his eyes are here.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Watch his eyes shift once he's like, oh now his
- 57:58Speaker 1: eyes are on digs because he's like, oh, he really
- 57:59Speaker 1: is staying across.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Yeah. It feels like he was trying to sit on
- 58:03Speaker 2: a pivot route.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Yes, I agree. Like he thought Diggs would come out,
- 58:06Speaker 1: come here and then come back.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Yeah, whether he was going whi and he was going
- 58:09Speaker 2: to try to house it.
- 58:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he's thinking, Okay, here comes the whip, the pivot,
- 58:13Speaker 1: the return, whatever verbage you want to use. Yeah, good call,
- 58:16Speaker 1: Nice job, Kendall, nice job chat.
- 58:18Speaker 2: And then Allah every now and again, now and again.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Uh so with the rush right, here's everybody locked in coverage.
- 58:27Speaker 1: So now Bishop is on, Henry Milano is on Remandre.
- 58:31Speaker 1: What we end up happening happening happening is one rusher,
- 58:37Speaker 1: two rushers, three rushers.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Spy.
- 58:41Speaker 1: This to me is odd mirror with two men behind it.
- 58:43Speaker 1: This is largely what Georgia plays, you know, the team
- 58:46Speaker 1: that made odd Mirror famous recently. What I don't like
- 58:50Speaker 1: I mentioned it. I don't like Shak's positioning. The whole
- 58:53Speaker 1: idea with the yeah, like, the whole idea with odd
- 58:56Speaker 1: Mirror is like you to be in a position where
- 58:59Speaker 1: if the quarterback it's not off that spot, you're able
- 59:01Speaker 1: to close immediately. Is that aggressive spy there is? And
- 59:05Speaker 1: Bosa you know, actually I don't think I have no
- 59:08Speaker 1: I don't have the enzone angle. You can see it here.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Bosa wins inside he gets tripped, like his feet get
- 59:15Speaker 1: tangled and he falls down.
- 59:16Speaker 2: So if he goes to the boundary side, Shack has
- 59:19Speaker 2: no chance.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Correct, I don't. And Shaq's not in like the word,
- 59:22Speaker 1: he's not in no man's land. But if it's May
- 59:25Speaker 1: who has to get to hear yeah, shit, Yeah, and
- 59:30Speaker 1: Mlonald's not helping because he's locked in man here. Harrison's
- 59:33Speaker 1: locked and man here. Like I don't like the positioning
- 59:35Speaker 1: of Shaq here as that aggressive spy.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I like that. I mean I always assume
- 59:41Speaker 2: like if you if you're playing spy, you gotta be
- 59:44Speaker 2: directly aligned from him from a from a width perspective,
- 59:47Speaker 2: rights just leverage wise, if he's on the hash, you
- 59:50Speaker 2: stand on the hash. And he was like what four
- 59:53Speaker 2: yards left of the hash?
- 59:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and I get it, you know me, he's playing
- 59:56Speaker 1: more to the field side or whatever. Maybe there's something
- 59:58Speaker 1: with the call of like hey, this is where we
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: want you to get under. But I would have liked
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: them to cheat a little bit and yeah, like get
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: more in line where you're head up.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: You know. That's a good point though, Like he could
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: have been told to cheat to the passing strength. Yes,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: absolutely fair.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: And you know, not only is it the passing strength,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: it's also the field side this way, so I can understand.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: That a little bit. Yeah, yeah, that's nitpicking. You got
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: to pick your poison, right, You got to pick your
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: poison on where it's going to go.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: But again, what have we seen in this little bit.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: We've seen a pressure look drop out into man. We've
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: seen some cover eight, We've seen some two man. We've
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: seen a cover one blitz. We've seen quarters, different coverages,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: different up runts, coverages, change in fronts, changing personnel. Got
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: some true three three five type of stuff, but a
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: lot of it too, all of it in I hate
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: the bucket it like this, but all of it with
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: the idea of playing more on the front foot. You're
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: playing man, you're playing press, you're matching, you're attaching to guys,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you're creating collision points, you're rerouting, your showing pressure.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: This more.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: I don't want to say passive because I think people
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: they can think passive means soctating too, and yes you are, Hey,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: we want to erase the running back right, let's force
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: him to pass pro or oh, he's actually gonna release cool,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: let's mug the hell out of them, like playing on
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: that front foot. They need more of this because they
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: don't have the jimmies and Joe's to straight up say
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: we're gonna beat you with our talent. And I also
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: don't think they have like the straight up scheme and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: structure advantage where it's like everything is so confusing, like
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: inherently we'll be able to take advantage of that. They
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: have to press more of those buttons consciously and from
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: a you know, cognizance standpoint, which I like in this one. Now,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: this is my other big run conversation here. So this
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: next play, first and ten from the Bills forty three
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: yard line. We have two camera angles here. The Pats
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: have three plays in a row from here, a first
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: and ten, a second and ten, a third and fifteen
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: with a holding penalty, and then third and twenty five
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: other than Bills make them run against. So technically four,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: you just got a first down. You're in Bills territory.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Run the ball, run the ball. They can't like this,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: look though, right, I know they went heavy, but well no.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: But I mean well they whatever they called is what
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: they called. I would have just called a run. I'm
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: coming out and I'm running the.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Ball, like, get back at it.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: You know where they're vulnerable. Why are you not attacking
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: that vulnerability?
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Oh god?
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Yeah, kay, Morrey says, So you're saying we need an
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: anti rumo respects. I would love to have that. Dare
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: to dream to dream. So yeah, first and ten here
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: we go on this play play action pass from the Patriots.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: We have cover eight again from the Bills. For those
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: playing at home or maybe those new, that means we're
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: playing cover two to the passing strength and on the
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: backside or the non passing strength, we are playing quarters here.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: With how it is, we've got Hairston and Milano based
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: on what the running back does, we've essentially got those
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: two locked in man coverage like earlier when we had
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Cover eight and we had that on the quarter side.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Greg Orsola is going to do a good job getting
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Drake May office spot. Daekwon Jones is going to do
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: a really good job here hustling to run Drake May down.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: This is one where I think the covery where the
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: rush kind of makes up for coverage a little bit
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: or helps I should case kind of like indicate, so
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: what do we got again? Little reroute down here hook
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: curl defender. If we notice the widening of the safety
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: and we get back here, here's Bishop here he's widening
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: why because it's the cover two side, because we're playing
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: cover two to the passing strength. Because we're in cover eight.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I know I'm throwing a lot of terms out there.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Feel free to stop me. If anybody's got what do
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: we got locked in? Man up here, we're in meg
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: man everywhere he goes man coverage here, that's the quarter
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: side quarter safety here from his alignment, we are locking
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: that backside.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Just because you're in cover eight, that doesn't mean you
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: always have to lie the backside and man like the
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Bills are doing. I like that they're doing that. You'll
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: see that, you know who you see that? Honestly a
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: lot from the Texans. When the Texans get a three
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: by one, whether they're in quarters, like, if they're in
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Cover one, it's straight up man anyway. But if they're
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: in like quarters or they're in cover three, a lot
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: of times they'll just lock.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: That solo receiver.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: But they could do that because it's like, well we
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: have Derek Stingley and we have Kamari Lass. Good luck,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: good luck trying to beat one of those dudes, especially Stingy, who,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: if not for patz Artan, would be the best corner
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: in football.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: So the Bill's credit, I mean, the person who's been
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: on the backside of all of these plays, it's been Harriston, Yes.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Who I think it's a great call. Christian Benford's out
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: this game. Yeah, Kirston got a lot of these.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Locked backside looks.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Did really good in his own against various body types Hollands, Henry, Booty, Kam.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I mean, granted, the Patriots don't have the most threatening
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: wide receiver.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: But at body type they have a basketball lineup at pass. Yeah,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: and so watching Harston bang with those guys in a
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: variety of ways and play physical and match athleticism but
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: also tenacity.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Nice to see May is gonna hit his drop.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: He's got some options potentially, but Rousseau beats his mane
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: inside comes barreling down. May is like, uh oh, I
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: gotta do something here.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: He evades.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: This is great from Daikwon Jones. The wide angle really
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: shows it. Watch Dakwon Jones get on his horse.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, the white really the end zone angle does
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: a great, great justice to this. I mean, he he
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: made this play this. This very easily could have turned
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: into a four yard gain or worse. Yeah. From Drake
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: May's legs. This was a very good chase down from
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: I'm playing in slow over.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: They don't playing rithing. Yeah, look at that chase down
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: forcing him out. He gets some love from the sideline
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: after what I also wanted to show on this one.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Too, So it's play action.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: They pull the right guard to help influence and sell
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: play action. Watch Rousseau squeeze down like he like he's
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: ready to wrong arm this and spill this run out here.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: You can even see Milano. I was gonna say, like
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: the first play from.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: This exactly the OGUNJOBTFL that we talked about earlier. They
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: are playing for this. He's gonna meet him here, spill
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: this run out this way. Milano's gonna come over here. Boom,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: we got leverage. We're gonna take care of this thing.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: We're gonna squeeze it down. Rousseau sees the play action
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: right now. Watch him engage. He knows he's got a guard.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Boom immediately dips right inside, rips right through it, gets held,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: and plays through the hold.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Shack in this whole process does a really good I mean,
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: he's a little lost, but he does a good job
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: of getting back into position to recover and not keep
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: the middle of the field wide open because to your
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: same point with Milano, he's scraping over the top to
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: try and fill for what Russeau is squeezing, and he
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: bails out of there the second he sees it. It's
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: a pass and he gets in the window, the middle window.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: I mean, heybody gets in the middle window.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Yes, And you can even see him like roboting a
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: little bit as he goes.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Oh, he's like, oh, it's a pass. Yeah. I like
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: how he looks. He's looking to exactly you see him
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: trying to figure out where the routes are.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Yes, I like that, and we'll go back to the
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: wide angle for it. Here here's Shack Thompson. O case
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: it's hard to follow at home. Oh, I hate when
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: that happens to me. Like I get a click and
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, oh great now I lost my spot.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Man. No, it's I don't have sweem stamps for you.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: No, I'm good. I don't know. I have so many
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: like clicks at the bottom here and like little things.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: This is the play. So here's Shack.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Yeah, watch him get his head around being like, okay,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: where like do I got to attach to somebody? Where's
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: the threat? But he sees pushing vertical. He's out here.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: He knows this is locked, so him just being in
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: there is kind of a presence. He's trying to but
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: and then he turns that way. Okay, is this do
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I need.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: To trying to figure out where he can help? Yeah? Nice?
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: And then he just like you can tell he's a
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: little lost, but he's getting to where he needs to
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: be to help the team. He's doing it's one eleventh
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: just trying to do something exactly.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: And then we end up, Uh, there's nearly no like
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: viable options here.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: If May to your point, like if I think if
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: if Kyle Williams was probably you know, more experienced, he
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: could have sat in the middle here and found some
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: soft part of this zone. But you know, he's a rookie,
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: he's in his fourteenth game. We can't expect that of him.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I May gets the stand in the pocket. If there's
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: no pressure, Let's pretend none of this happens. Rousseau doesn't
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: get penetration, doesn't get May off his spot. My thought is,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Hooper's got a bit of a step. My thought is
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: either the ball goes out here somewhere to Hooper or
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: the May is like, you know what, I have faith
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: in my speedy guy crossing Jordan Poyer's face, and I'm
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: gonna chuck it up deep to Kyle Williams. But I
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: think it's gonna be more towards Henry because he does
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: have a bit of a step or not Henry Austin Hooper.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, I think that's Hooper. But yeah, yeah it
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: is Hooper because I think to your earliest point on
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: this play, you're right like at the end of the day,
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: this is a little bit more leaning of Yeah, Rush
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: really did a lot for coverage here. If we have
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: to assign credit, it's probably sixty forty here. Absolutely, run
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: one more time.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Here we go. Good job group, Bosa get Also a
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: nice job from the Patriots perspective.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Watch the help come on.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Bosah. I'm seventy six. I don't really have anything to do.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I'll find work. Drops Bosa.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Good job, good job.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: It's a good effort play from Dake. One. People are like,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: good job day one.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Second and ten now for the Patriots. So again, I
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: get it. It's second and ten. You feel like you
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: want to pass, maybe run the ball, get yourself some
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: positive yards. Also, the Bills have a trouble defending the run.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: It's second and ten. You might get seven on this play,
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: but get yourself out of a third and long potential.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's fine, keep passing.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: The football.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I want everyone to pay ten this one. This is
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: the exact same play and presentation from the Patriots that
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: we see on the final play of the game. This
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: we're gonna get a little bit of like return short
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: return or like yo yo motion there from Hunter Henry.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: It's going to be mesh from the Patriots. And we're
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: gonna get a dropped interception from Jordan Poorter. So here
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: comes Henry like he's coming across and he's gonna go back.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: He's gonna get in kind of a stack here. He's
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: gonna run.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Drag.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: He's gonna run the higher one. Diggs is the shallow one. Again,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: this is the exact same play from the Pats as
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: the last play of the game. The only difference when
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: we get to the last play of the game, Remandre
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: doesn't release at all. He stays in the backfield. That's
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: the only difference. Watch Poyer Porter sees it, closes down
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: on it.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: Drake May makes a bad throw.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I get ready to throw my remote at the TV
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: live because this hits Poyer right in the hands and
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: face and he doesn't pick it, and I was very disappointed.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: But all things considered, UH works out for the bills
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: here on this play. From a coverage standpoint, it plays
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: out like man covers with the bottom and then essentially
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: what we get is a three over two to the top.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: So three over two here, and they're matching this so
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: you can see Milano and and Harrison are both kind
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: of like getting death. Milano's gonna take inside man, but
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: he has to fight through somebody first. Max will go here.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: He goes here, player's driving because he sees the throw.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: This is yep, and then this is straight man here
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: to the bottom the screen.
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: What's Bishop's Bishop threw me off here on what the
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: coverage was? What is Bishop doing?
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Bishop to me is as I play through here, he's
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: almost like getting wide, like he's like starts to get
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: like cover two depth and then he rides the hash.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: But it looks like he rides the hash, which is
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: more he just kind of keeps the width of the
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: most wide deep threat.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: This got me a lot, like I didn't know.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: To id the coverage. I was so confused.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: I thought of reaching out and asking some folks, and
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: then I just I essentially know what I think Bishop
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: did something off or so there's something that's off here,
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: or there's something specific to this play that isn't like
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: a not whiteboard coverage, but a thing that's like, yeah,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: so chartable because this.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Is straight up everything else that you said makes perfect
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: sense for me, except for Bishops position.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you could maybe you could even maybe play it
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: like if you wanted to say, like, oh, it's like
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: like a true match and he's taken the fast, the
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: fast three or flat, but there's just you know, but
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: instead you could why would you not just call a
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: push call They're gonna do quarters and then he walls
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: off number two and picks this up. There's a lot
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: of like wonkiness here, So that's why I just labeled it.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I think they're playing they're playing some kind of split
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: field where it's made to the bottom of the screen
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: and then they're matching up top and playing three over two.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Because even because Poyer's depth.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: That it's the depth, it's how the safeties are playing
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: in relationships just like yes, it's almost like Poyers playing
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: like a deep robber or I was like, is he
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: buzzing down?
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Is he? So at first part, the part of me
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: right was like, oh, this is over one across the
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: board and Bishop is just heavily shaded to decide, but
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: I was like, well, that wouldn't make a lot of sense.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: But then the coverage up.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Here isn't really straight like man, you can tell like
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: you can tell Milano and Hairston are trying to sort
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: this out. Yes, in terms of who they're going to
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: take now, it could still be man coverage, and that
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: means they could be like banjoing it and so okay,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: like whoever goes inside, I'm picking up. And then again,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Bishop could be instead of being like the robber down here,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: like a low hole player, he could be robbing that side.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: There's a lot of possibilities here, but he drops the interception.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Confused me, really confuse me on that point though. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: was telling him friends as we were watching the game live.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Everyone was so upset with Poyer. I think he was
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: caught in between playing the player the receiver and playing
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: the ball. He's surprised, he's not expecting it's a defender.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: You're yeah, you're expecting him to make that play and
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Henry like almost didn't even make an attempt at it.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just a little throws a little too wide and.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Still upsetting, but like you can kill you this very
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: in between thoughts. Ball is right here, and you're just like,
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: oh my god, picking he didn't squeeze his hands. He's
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: like still like this because he's like, oh, I gotta
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: yea ready tackle.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: It goes right through the hands and hits him right
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: in the face mask. That's a tough one. Sucks such
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: a poor feeling.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: To be fair, I also want to go back and
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: make sure everyone knows I was asking about Bishop out
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: of curiosity, not to assign blame to him. Fair. Gotta
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: be carel nowadays.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, next play, third and fifteen. This is the one
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: that didn't count. Of the nineteen plays that we have,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: there's only eighteen official plays because this nineteen play that
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: was holding uh Daikwon Jones is right now he's gone.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: That's a horrible circle sometimes really bad.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Right here, he's gonna get held. This play is going
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: to get nullified again. Another pass with the Patriots. This
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: is quarters from the bills. We are going to get
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: locked on the backside, so we got meg coverage there.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Dorian is locked on Remandre and then we are going
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: to play.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Quarters.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: We're gonna get another add on rush from Dorian. Watch Dorian,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: he's going to attack Remandre on the snap, like we've
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: seen the Bills do so much with the running backs
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: in this second half. But then he's going to release
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: with Remandre once Remandre releases. The one thing I don't
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: like on this if we notice we've been showing so
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: much here talking about matching and you know, man coverage elements.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: This down here, everything down here to the field side. Yeah,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: you know what I'm getting at.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: It's more of just a.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Spot drop, more of a cover four than it is
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: a quarters guys hitting in so spot dropt for those
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: who don't know Madden type coverages, where you're getting to
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: a spot, you know, like hey, I'm supposed to get
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: to you know, eight to ten yards at this spot
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: on the field. I get there, I turn around and
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: I look to see if anybody's in my zone. More
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: you're covering, you're covering a spot, you are dropping to
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: a spot. That's why it's spot drop coverage instead of
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: you know, matching, where you are matching someone and all
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: this guy's come into my zone. I'm treating him like
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: man for man. If it's a man match, you'll continue
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: to carry him man for man from then on, no
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: matter where he goes. If it's his zone match. You're
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: playing him man for man while he's in your zone.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: This one was more just spot drop, which I think
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: contributes to why Hunter Henry is open. But again it's third, fifth,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: third and fifteen. I get it, play spot drop, get depth,
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: keep everything in front of you. Completion Again it doesn't
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: matter because Deacon Jones get held, gets help. But now
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: we have again another variation again third and fifteen. So
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: long down and distance, but we're locking that backside. We're
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: playing quarters across the boardom but instead of matching a
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: little bit like we've seen earlier, more of a spot
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: drop coverage.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you nailed it that. The thing I was upset
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: about was this spacing from Karin just kind of not
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: really playing in any sort of relation to well, yeah,
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: defenders on his team as spot dropping.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: He's just knowing, like, okay, I let you get I
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: gotta get with in depth on the curl flat. Let
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: me get there and get underneath. There I go, and
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: everybody's just getting well, like he's so close to Trey,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Like yes, I don't know.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: It just seems like a waste of bodies at that point.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: But they had not been a good spot drop team.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: I don't like when they go spot drop.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: It's not great. I hate spot drop in general. Granted,
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: you have to have the bodies to be able to
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: play match or play man, which I get.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: To your point. It is third and fifteen, and if
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: you're cognizant of where you're spot dropping, where the sticks
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: are and spacing of you know where the players are
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: in front of the sticks, and how to rally and tackle,
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I can work for you.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: But yeah, I was get depth, keep everything in front
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: of you, rally and tackle. But especially this team, like
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: they've had issues tackling. Yeah, more so against the run
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: than the past. But still also to Kamory and the
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: chatty says, you missed the play where the defensive line
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: pointed the left tackle on the fall starting. Correct, I
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: did not show that where they essentially bully, Yeah, the
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: left tackle. It's third and ten on this play or
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: on the previous play, he false starts. Now we have
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: third and fifteen. We get this completion of Hunter Henry,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: but Daikwon Jones does a really good job here. He
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: gets held, So it's back to back penalties for the Pats.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: A false start that goes from third to ten to
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: third and fifteen now we get that hold, and now
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: it has become third and twenty five.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: This is the same coverage as the play before locked
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: locked spot.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Drop all down here that I don't I can see
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: how much you don't like it.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Actually, this is just really fun. I feel like now
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: I'm coloring. This is just like really soothing. Plus I
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: can always undo it all one thing. But we end
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: up getting an interception for Shoudavius White. We have two
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: angles of it. This is a really great interception from Trey.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: I'm just gonna let it run what I like from
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: him on this is.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: Oh, such a good interception.
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: As he's dropped right, he's starting covering his quarter. Hollins
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: does a good job stemming like he's gonna work to
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Tray's blind spot. So Trey opens up that way and
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: goes to like speed turn or baseball turn with him.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: But then Holland stabs back inside and Trey just turns
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: again and he's right there, attaches tracks the ball. I
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: don't think he pushes Hollins or does anything we're gonna
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: see from the end zone angle. It's just a really
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: good interception.
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: Yet eyes on the ball the whole time.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: He did eyes on the ball the whole time. You
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: can see from this angle like there he's got his
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: hands on Hollins. But he's not pushing him. He's not
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: impeding him, he's not grabbing him, he's not doing anything
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: like that. Hands are just on him. He's tracking the ball.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: And this is a Again, he's not pushing Hollinds. He
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: doesn't move him, his hands are on him, he just
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: lets go. This is a really good interception. Ooh, that's
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: a good Irot. And I like how Collins is upset.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: I Hollins might be one of those guys that you
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: like love him when you're on your team, you hate
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: him elsewhere.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: I came way from that.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: I came away from this game really hating Mac Collins.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: I'm also really over like I get it. Your your
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: barefoot all the time, Like, but it's it's so performative,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: like it's cold and snowying. You had to show up
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: in jeans with no shirt and no socks and no hat. No, like,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: Oh my, I get it, Okay, but it's enough. I
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: liked it so much when he was on the Bills
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: that I just kind of.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: I hate it now I absolutely hate it, and he
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: was so demonstrative in this game, like dancing and pointing
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: in all these things. And again I understand it. Maybe
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: he wanted to stay in Buffalo and he was upset.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Maybe the Bill's lowballing. Maybe they didn't give Hi an offer.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Maybe you know, I don't I get it. You're playing
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: for a former team, You're juiced up. But I came
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: away from this game absolutely hating mac collins. So I
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: love that. And I say that as a largely objective person.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: It takes a lot for me to.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: Be like, it's true, you are, this is rare from you.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Bang nice pick and I love Hollinds again one more time.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Let's not let's not get sucked into the hate. Like
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: where the Sith even though the Sith are better than
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: the Jedi is a great interceptionist. Boom and he survives
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: the ground. Yeah, let's watch mc collins number thirteen.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: What no, all, come on?
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: What long?
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: I got shoes on?
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: I can't stand him.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Oh I'm out on him. I'm out on him.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Uh, it's just even even that, like it's no, I'm
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: not gonna rewind it again, but yeah, I'm not.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: This next one nothing really crazy here. This is the
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Traveon Henderson house call. All it is here?
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Yeah, all it is is the backside pursuit. Angles are
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: off front side everything, and everyone is really just gummed
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: up and Epanessa. It kind of largely falls on Apanessa here,
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: but we're gonna.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: See why.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: It falls on Epanessa here and why I I fault him.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: But also watch so he's he plays this so well.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: He's got BCR responsibility. So he's got bootleg counter or
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: cutback like reverse. He is watching here in case this
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: is a fake toss, may goes this way, he can
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: go there. He's waiting for a cutback. There's no reverse
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: element here, but he did. He's he's playing for reverse elements,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: so he's got that backside contained in pursuit. He reads this,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: look at him surf technique.
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: Here we go squeezing down.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Eyes are on the ball the whole time. This is
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: where things go side. He's he's in perfect position. He
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: thinks Travion Henderson is coming here. Yep, he's gonna beat off. Yes,
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: right shoulder boom, done and dusted. Travon Henderson instead cuts outside,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: and this causes Epanessa to get caught up in the muck.
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: So watch Travion puts his left foot in the ground,
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: starts to trying to squeeze in somewhere here at Panessa.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: All of a sudden, now he is out of position
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: as Travion Henderson goes into the void and then comes
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: out clean. And now all of a sudden, Henry's got
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: him stealed. Max is kind of not in a negative way,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: chillin thinking this play is done rightfully so and now
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Henderson's out the gate.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they both just flowed with the play
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: a little bit too, a lot more so Max than
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: than Epinessa, because when you see Epinessa here, like you
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: see the cutback lane that he's trying to defend, Yes,
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: tight off Dion's right shoulder, and.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: To the point this is kind of here also it's there.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: I don't want to be that guy Walker gets held big.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: Time by Bradbury.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: We're gonna watch it right here, like watch Walker try
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: to separate. Yeah, oh I can't, because I.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: Was gonna say I really liked this ret from Dion.
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: I really like this ret from Deon. He was so
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: ready for that cutback and he I think if if
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: Trayveon hit that harder, if he hit the cutback harder
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: that hold would have been. Oh that's fair.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Walker is literally getting held the entire time, like it's
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: not even close, but to that point, yeah, and Vanessa
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: sees this and he's thinking, Okay, here's where the alley
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: is in the lane.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: I'm gonna move right down.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: And then he gets thrown off by Henderson, who tries
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: to to Henderson's point, as we're looking here, He's like.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Okay, that's my alley.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Yeah, let me try and he I mean, I'm convinced.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: At this point, he's just like, screw it. Let me
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: try and get one yard or two yards. I'm just
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: gonna slam it up in there and go and see
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: what we can get. And also he sees this coming free,
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: so he's like, uh, oh, I don't want to run
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: into King Kong, so let me go through. And all
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: of a sudden, Panessa, now our man here. He's trying
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: to like, oh do I need to play over the top.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: He's kind of caught. And then again CARDI to trademon Henderson.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: He's fast as hell, yep, and he done. That's the thing.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: I actually think he bounced. He was trying to cut
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: it back before he bounced it. Outside. You can kind
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: of see his momentum is going forward. But like you said,
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: he saw the white flash of Dion in front of
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: him and he's like, oh, I gotta cut it outside
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: and then just hits his O lines butt And that's
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: why happened. That is like perfectly.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: This makes me think of one of those like a
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: kickoff where the returner like runs into his own blockers
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: and because of that, it creates this momentum and leverage
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: where he's like, oh, and then now he's out. He's
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: out around the corner. He gets up the sideline and
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: you're like, oh, are you serious? Yeah, And then you
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: want to talk about cold bisham on this one, Kam Moore.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: He asked about it in the chat. I've talked about
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: his angles from death. I don't fault him crazily for
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: this one, like because.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: Because you see but you see Travion like, but there
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: is truly traffic there, Like you can see between Trey
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: White and Matt Collins, there's a little bit of traffic.
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: He has a decision to make do I go underneath
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: the traffic or over the traffic, And when you see
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Traveon kind of like flash out of this He's like, Okay,
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: let me just delete as much space as possible. But
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: and by doing that, he completely deletes his angle, he
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: deletes himself. Yeah yeah, So I mean it's an angle thing.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: That's that's all it is. He had a decision to
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: make to flow through that traffic, and he just made
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: the wrong decision on it. That's all. It is a
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: little bit of holding.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: But again, that's a cool that's a good effort on
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: May running down Yeah yah yah blah blah blah that
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: but Henderson's really fast, good speed.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: But you didn't like how much the announcers were talking about. No,
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: I did not down the field.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: No, I didn't because we had to show it like
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: seventy five thousand times. I'm also just out in general
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: on you and I were talking about this last night,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Like I'm I'm just out on like everybody always praising
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: quarterbacks for like everything, Like even though.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: We were talking about it last night, it's a problem. Yes,
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: it is a problem. We know quarterback is the most
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: important position here, Why don't we talk about all the
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: other positions?
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Yes, I hate how the MVP is essentially a quarterback award. Now,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: I hate that in this game, the run game did
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: a bunch of stuff. Joe Brady was layering things. Yeah,
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: and I Josh Allen made some good plays. But people
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: coming away from this game like Josh Allen was amazing
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: in this game. He was insane, he was good at
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: another level. I don't think he was on another level
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: at all. And I'm also annoyed with that because this
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: is going to create a whole bunch of national hate
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: for the Bills, because people are over is starting to
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: get yes, and in a cool way, it's like it's
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: I respect it, like, but Alan's going to start getting
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: the quote unquote like glazing nationally.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: That's going to be a pendulum. It's the pendulum swing. It's,
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: oh wow, we need to start putting respect on the Bills.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Who do we put respect on when the Bills win? Oh,
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: let's just give it to those MVP winner, the quarterback. Yes,
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: but the game, oh.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: My god, Like he was great game changer. He's getting
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: the home stuff.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: And he did change the game. But he changed the
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: game the way he changes it just by stepping on
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: the field. Because of the threats he presents like.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: They seem like he was like he just pulled the
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Bills from the depths of hell, all by himself and
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: threw for three.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: This was a team win in the most team win aspect.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: He did what he had to do when he had
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: to do it. But it wasn't even comparable to what
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: he did last week against the Bengals. And even then
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: I thought there was a little bit of glazing there.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: There is a thousand percent. Yeah.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Now so I'm just out on not QB discourse, but
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: I just the yeah, I get it, the over emphasis
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: of the employees and everything is oh good call from
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: SESSPINARV says, this wasn't the Rams game. Yeah, it's not
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: like Allen when he.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: Was falling against the Rams. Get yep. Yeah.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I just feel like, and I'm not a raw stats guy,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: but like a quarterback threw for one hundred and ninety
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: three yards and you're gonna tell me that he like
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: put everybody in his ue haul or put him in
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: his backpack and carried him victory, Like come on, like,
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: and I just and that's not just an Alen thing.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: That's everybody. I hate when everybody does that for quarterbacks.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: Oh the team one quarterback must have played a great game.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Yeah, It's just that's why I was so pumped last
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: year for the same thing, almost like the same thing
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: for the Heisman. I was so happy last year. It
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: was like, whoa, it's gonna be either Travis Hunter or
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Ashton Genty.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: That's sweet.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Like no quarterback award instead, it's always just feels like
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: it's all to the quarterbacks. And I get it's a
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: quarterback league and the franchise, I get it all that stuff,
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: but I just maybe it's because I'm a defense first guy.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: No, that's definitely what it is, but it's still not
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: It's bas Yeah, they were oh my god, look at
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: him postle downfield. Look at this block. Oh my god.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: You don't see this from a quarterback every day. What
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: he really wants it? That's the ar.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Yeah, kick rocks, it's not about it. Next play we
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: got here. So the Bills have gone down. They have answered.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: It is now thirty five, thirty one bills. We're gonna
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: get a run a run play here for the Patriots.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: What what are we going to do with ourselves that
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: we have gotten a run play from the Patriots here. Uh,
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: they're gonna run an ISO five yard game for the
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Patriots here. I'm just gonna kind of let this run.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: Larry Okunjobey actually does a good job splitting the double team.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: This is kind of your standard stereotypical bills type of
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: front here four down over front, which means so on
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: like the backside or the non strength of the play,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: you're gonna get yourself a one tech.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: Here to the.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: Strength side, the play strength side, you're gonna get yourself
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: a three tech, which is mister Larry Owen Jobi. For
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: those who don't know, you're numbering everything, I'll just number
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: everything now. So head up on the center is a zero.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Head up on the guard is a two. Head up
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: on the tackle is a four. I'm not gonna get
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: into the tight ends because people use different things like
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: what's a six, what's a seven? Some like what's a
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: five of the nine? Some people use eight, all these
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: like crazy things. But so you've got a zero, a two,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: and a four. And then if we go through on everything,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: so zero one, two, I two, three, four, I four five,
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: and then this for me is a six. This is
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: a seven. And then this is a night which makes
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: no sense.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: I'm with you, it makes no sense, but I am
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: in lockstep.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: But to each there on and then iOS, all right,
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: I really is one of those like how did we
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: get here? I would love to do things things like that,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: like I could create something game like, oh, the next
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: one must be like seven, right, I'm like nope, the
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: next one is for yeah you're wrong, yeah, Like but
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: you just went from six to fourteen and I'm like, correct,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: So what happened to seven through thirteen? Don't worry about it.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: They're not there.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: You don't count that way, idiot? What are you stupid?
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: So we get the ISO run here something, we're just
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: isolating the backer for a full back block or get
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: a double team here and good job in Larry Ogunjobi fights.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: Through Gett and Skinny fighting through yep.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: My thought on this one is Milano and Shack are
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: a little late to their fit. My thought is May's Drake.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: May's action on this mimics a lot of what they
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: do from a play action standpoint.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: I was gonna say, and they've only ran the ball
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: twice this half, like.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: So I don't know if they're thinking like, here comes
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: play action, we're seeing the motion, or we're thinking that's
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: what it's gonna because they've only to your point, they've
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: only run it twice.
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: It's going to be a pass or they're reading this
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: whatever it is.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: But either way, Milana and Shack don't really commit here,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: which makes Larry's splitting kind of in vain. Yeah, well, yeah,
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: it's helpful here to make it balance. But then there's
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: it's late here because both guys are Now you've got
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: three guys who are all kind of sucked up inside.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: But Milana will see it, He'll take on westover. Rousseau
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: gets held, but no one cares about that unless you're
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Mike Rabel again, still being held. This one I think
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: should have been called, but again to each their own,
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: still being held to each their own. Shack comes through
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: again with all do like all things considered decently to
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: hold this thing to five yards?
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: I think, I mean, this play was made by Ogunjoby
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: and Rousseau. You really see the length of Rousseau showing
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: itself in the run game. I mean, I think we'd
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: all like to see it show itself a little bit
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: more against the past. But yeah, I mean, this is
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: this is great impact. This is how you minimize mistakes
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: from your second level. And yeah, this very well could
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: have been an eight yard game, could have been a
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: ten yard game, but you know, mitigated to five because
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: of Ogunjobi a hold in Rousseau.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Even give some credit to uh Max Harrison here who
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: sees this and is like, you know what, let me
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: make sure I stay outside and be a sports player
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: and keep this thing, keep this alli in here where
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: I've got my safety and I've got all this back,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: I've got all this pursuit coming there. So shout out
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: to Harrison for being a little bit of a force here.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: And yeah we get a nice five yard gain for
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: the Patriots on this drive. Now, next play, second and five,
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: what do you think the Patriots should do? I would say,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: you know, it's second and five, let's run the ball. Nope, Nope,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: We're gonna pass the ball, and you're gonna pay for
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: it because you're gonna get sacked. You know, when you
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: don't get sacked when you run the ball, nothing nothing
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: bad happens when you run the football. This next play here,
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: on this second and five with the Bills up thirty
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: five to thirty one, is the second Matt Mlano sacked.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: This one.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: For me, the highlight really is just Milano being relentless.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: This effort as he works through the running back also
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: works through the left guard who's given some help a
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: bit to the running back. Now this one coverage standpoint
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: is for me. This one is Cover six, which is
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: essentially the sister or brother however you want to talk
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: about it of Cover eight, except now in Cover six
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: we've got quarters to the passing strength and we've got
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: cover two to the non passing strength. Again, remember Cover
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: eight is cover two to the passing strength. Cover six
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: is quarters two the passes passing strength. Now what's also
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: nice with this is, uh, we get essentially like a
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Cover six simular creeper pressure here, Milonald's gonna rush, Bosa
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: is gonna drop, So a nice way to get some
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: pressure drop a non traditional coverage guy, bring a non
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: traditional rusher. I love simulated and creepers. I think they're
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: a must in today's NFL. I honestly think the Bill
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: should do it more. But to each their own. I've
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: said that a lot in this episode. Yeah, and then
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: this is nice coverage and you said it earlier, coverage
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: and rush. I think this is the best example of
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: coverage and rush working together because May exhausts his progressions
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: and as he yep and as he gets to the
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: backside dig which is open as he gets to it,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: he gets sacked by Matt Malonalds. So let's watch and
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: we go from here. I would set it up and
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: then Kendall feel free to take it away again. There's
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Hairston re route. Here comes Bishop going out here. Why
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: because we've got cover two to the non passing strength,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: We've got quarters to the passing strength. Why because we're
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: in cover six Milano fighting through. May thinks about hitting it,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: but he can't because Shack, Oh what do I mean
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: to click there?
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: Shaq? What's really nice? Watch Shack?
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: He comes up, creates a collision point with the running back.
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: We're out.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: The running back with the tight end takes that away.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: May wants to go to Booty or Williams, I think,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: and yeah, Williams and camped.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: It felt like he really wanted to go to Henry initially,
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: and then kind of looked off of it, looked to
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: the field side. Nothing was good on the field side
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: of the play, and then I think at the end
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: of the day he was probably hoping that Kyle Williams
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: was gonna throttle this one down and just go off
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: script a little bit, because here's look at how much
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: space he has If he just throttles down right there.
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: He doesn't have to run the dig he can just
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: sit there. May May is waiting for him to show
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: him any sort of body language just and May starts
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: what I like about this one?
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: May starts with everything, Yeah, everything right, he just doesn't
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: I'll go to the sideline real quick, like he he
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: doesn't like like he goes through his progressions. You can
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: still go from okay one, No. Two, No Three to
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: the over the wall route.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: No. Then he finds the opening. But once again, this
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: is a rookie wide receiver, Like, this is a rookie who, yeah,
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: has shown some promise, but you know, with some more experience,
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: maybe he learns, Okay, we don't need to run exactly
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: the route on the play sheet. We can throttle this
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: down find. I wonder how much they do that in
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: the offense and how much freedom there is for that.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: I haven't watched this great great question for a McDaniel's offense, right, yeah, yeah,
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: it's a good point or something structure to which makes
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: you think like he and there is an ability to
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: do that, like in the ever changing landscape of the NFL,
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: wouldn't you think that there's more of an ability to
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: be flexible. I don't know. In the second half, I
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: was gonna say defense, well played defense. They're doing so
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: much to take everything away from you and this is
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: not a top tier defense. But like we've taken away
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: option one, option two, option three. You get to option
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: four and it's like, but you know what, even within that,
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: this isn't He gets through his progressions quickly, like he
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: exhausts everything one and two aren't there?
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: He great here, He's this is really just Milano, yes,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: making a great play.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: Yes in getting it did would have been open if
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: you pressure didn't get there.
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: And Milano puts his shoulder down, goes through Henderson and
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: this is where he kind of gets like almost like
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: a double from the left guard.
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: He just keeps.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: Going like he's a zombie in Resident Evil and just
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: keeps making his way through. May's ready to pull the trigger.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: He just needs this to clear, which it probably will.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: He can put this ball over, don't. I don't know.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Maybe Bosa gets in the window here, but Milano gets
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: him off of that, like so technically, like it's not.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: A horrible it's just the bills. The bills are better
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: on it. Yeah, I guess I'm just speaking from a no,
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: I agree with you. From a facing perspective, it's just
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: hard to see Williams just run through all of that
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: grass and be like knowing, like even right there, like
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: May is just waiting for him. You can see him
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: just eyeing him down like this dig is going to
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: be open, but he's open right now. Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: It's tough, but yeah, this is you're right, Russian coverage
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: like this probably is the best example from what we've
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: shown so far and probably from all of it. Yeah,
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: like that, it's nice. Now it's third and twelve. I
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: get it.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: You can't run the ball.
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: You're finally giving him a bone.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't care. That's fine. You get a pass
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: on this one. Uh, third and twelve again, thirty five
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: thirty one bills. Here in the fourth quarter, the Bills
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: are showing a one two, three, four five six man
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: pressure and then what does it look like? We've got
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: everywhere else man coverage and coverage.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: Remember this is the play right after a sack.
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: That's right, this is the play right after the sack. Essentially,
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: what we get here is odd mirror and then we
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: get two man behind it, which means we got our
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: two deep safeties and then we've got man coverage underneath.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: What I like about this one, we're gonna watch Shack
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: Thompson because we're in Pony, so we've got two true
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: running backs. Shack Thompson is going to take Devy Hender
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Crayon Anderson Milano. As we've seen so much, he's going
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: to attack Romandre Stevenson and then attached to him. But
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: what's interesting about this one is he essentially just keeps
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: his eyes on Drake May, almost like he's spying. So
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: he's just almost like feeling Remandre blocking him, but eyeing May.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: So you get a little bit a two for one.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: And then I want to highlight some stuff with aj
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Panessa on the end zone angle. But again, essentially what
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: we get here it's almost essentially like odd mirror with
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: two man behind it. I say odd mirror because on
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: a man here, on a man here, one, two, three
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: on the rush and if you notice here's aj Panessa
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: number fifty seven, why is he just standing there? That's
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: because aj Panessa engages his man. But then so yeah,
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: that's right, he falls off almost like he is the spy.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: We were gonna look at that from the end zone angle.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, here essentially two
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: men across the board on the back and from a
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: coverage standpoint, this is where Drake May decides to go.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: It's open. May misses the throw, and this is where
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: I think, like showing that pressure front on a play
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: right after a sack just disrupted the process. I think
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: there's just a part of this that just it affected
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: the outcome of the throw. Like, this is uncharacteristic from
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: Drake May. He's been one of the most accurate passers
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: in the NFL this year. I think he has the
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: highest completion percentage, might be I.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Think it's like seventy something percent I think coming. Yeah, so,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: like this is un characteristic to his credit to like
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: in one please Devil's Advocate like Hunter Henry could have
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: caught this pass, but it's.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: For sure it's catchable. But yeah, exactly, it's high end
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: inside Like he he could have caught it, but I
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: think he was hoping that it would be more to
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: the outside.
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Yeah, which is understandable because he went like he sets
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: this up inside breaks a little bit of a push off,
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: but a savvy one.
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: The ball should be here, Yeah, at the least.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Yeah, at the least, or even if it's on him,
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: like it pins it on him. Okay, fine, Instead it's
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: behind and high and he's got to go up and
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: get it, but it goes right through his hands.
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: Yep, what I like that. That's why I wanted to
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: highlight the pressure look after the sack, good call.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: I like that. And then yeah, so here's aj A Panessa.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: We've got this double mug. Look, Pats are into protect it,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: but again we're gonna get somebody. Like it looks like pressure,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: but it's really not. It's just it's not even really
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: a four man rush. It's a three because my watch
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: Milano and watch at Panessa. Milano engage is Remandre and
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: then watch him just kind of chill.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: Look at him.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: He's almost like he's two gapping, like playing the run
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: like he's peeking. Okay, what's he doing?
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: What's he doing?
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: Okay, let me mimic, Let me mimic. And then Epanessa
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: engages that left guard and he drops out, just kind
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: of watching.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: So I like that.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: Now first to ten, this is where the clock is
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: starting to get to be an issue. So I can
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: understand you got to pass the ball. But here we
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: go we have another pass from the Patriots, shock.
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: First and ten thirty five thirty one.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: Yeah, this I think is like two minutes eighteen seconds
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: roughly on the clock. Here Pats are trying to get
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: up into some kind of hurry up to a degree
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: because they need to score a touchdown Cover eight again
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: from the Bills. For those of you playing at home,
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: that means we are going to get cover two to
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: the passing strength, and we're going to get quarters to
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: the backside. Also, if you notice, kind of in lockstep right,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: most of the time, Hairston has kind of been to
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: like one side of the field. But now because we're
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: locking up here, Harston is up here now, so we're
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: playing cover two to this side because here's the passing strength.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: Here's Trey being that cloud corner to that cover two side.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: We're using Max Harston as that you know, lock the
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: backside meg Man everywhere he goes corner, which I think
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: is something interesting to note that they're using him for that.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: And so we'll let us play run. Here we go
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: so much locked locked cover two. Here we go, let's
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: reroute and then we're gonna hinge deep have safety over here.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Why because we're playing core. We're playing cover two to
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: the field.
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: We gonna end up getting a completion of mac Collins.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: The throw is a little off kilter from May. Holland's
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: makes a good adjustment, shakes Terran for a bit. Come up.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: I think the Bills got lucky here. I do think, well,
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: I shouldn't say they got lucky here. They got lucky
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: on the outcome of this play. Specifically, I think May
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: and Holland's were on the wrong page here because May
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: was throwing him away from coverage, and I think Holland's
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: kind of sat down a little too close to where
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: Tarran was defending. Oh that's fair. See Trey kind of
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: bails off him, kind of sinks a little bit too deep,
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: and there's a lot of green grass behind him if
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: he kind of sits close to that twenty yard line. Yeah,
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: and he just kind of creeps a little too close
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: to Terran, gets too close to Honestly, his otherwise other
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: pass catching option hunter Henry So I think was trying
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: to for a lot of guys good on shack there.
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: He he caught digs at the right moment and took
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: away that space.
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: He does he's eyeing here watching him turn get a field,
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: get depth. Also, Bishop is making a bee line that's
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: kind of post throw, so not necessarily from a red perspective. Yeah,
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: we have the completion five bear game. Now we're gonna
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: get second and five two camera angles on this one.
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: This one is one of my favorite ones. We're gonna
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: get a non traditional was gonna be you know me? Uh?
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: This is a non traditional Tampa from the Buffalo Bill.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: So non traditional Tampa just means we're playing Tampa two coverage,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: but we have some guys in different spots than we
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: normally get.
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: So if we're.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: Playing we're playing regular Tampa two coverage, get split field here,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: split field here, hoole runner here, hook the curl here,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: and then we get a cloud player here, right, That's
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: what everybody would be. But what we're gonna get on
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: this one is Trey's gonna drop is the DP half player.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Taron Johnson is going to go to the flat as
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: the cloud player, and Jordan Poyer is going to come
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: down here as the hook curl defender. I love non
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: traditional Tampa's. They are fantastic. Shack is still gonna be
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: the guy running the pole. That's not gonna change there.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: I love this.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: I love, you know, Tampa two invert or Tampa two robber,
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: So I like that.
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: On the back end again, another coverage variation that we've seen,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: adding another thing to the mix that we've seen in
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: this second half here, which is nice. And then you're
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: gonna get some good stuff up front. You're gonna get
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: Joey Bosa come around from the edge to the field.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: He's gonna flush, Drake May grow a really strong close
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: and chase down of May. And also Max Harston in
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: support playing from kind of a soft squats not even
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: kind of actually a soft squat here at the bottom
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: of screen.
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: I really like on this play specifically, I guess one
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: putting Poyer in a spot in the hook curl. I
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: do think at this point in his career it's kind
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: of like a nice spot to put him. Coverage wise,
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: it's kind of just a strength at this point. But
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: then on top of that, like everything is bottled up.
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: I think every route on this play is bottled up
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: or breaking towards coverage. I guess except for Stevenson, Like
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: Stevenson is the only one who's not breaking towards coverage,
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: and he's just a checkdown option, and I don't think
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: May wants to go there. And then on top of that,
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: I think he sees there's an obvious lane that opens
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: him Drake May as Rousseau kind of. I can't tell
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: if he was intending to loop around day Quon here
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: and bumped into him, or if it was a fake stunt,
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: but something happens here could just be the momentum right
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: there from the chip.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: I was gonna say, I think if you look at
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: day Quon, that's a great call. Day Kuon is looking
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: to run a game here. Yeah, I think he sees
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: he sees group kind of get knocked off kilter or
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: to your point, he's already kind of starting that before
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: the chip, So maybe it was a I couldn't tell.
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: What the intention was, but the outcome was that there
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: was an open rushed lane for him. But then great
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: on groot to recover, disengage with length as he does,
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: and then pursuit and really mitigate the game.
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: He really this is where like the long leg show up,
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: he closes this thing down in a friggin hurry. Yeah,
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: and we'll watching the end zone angle here. Let's watch
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: Dae Kwon's eyes, you know, almost like, okay, here we go,
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: let's run this game.
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: Uh oh another hands to the face on group. This
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: is this is the big one for me.
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: This is a blatant hands of the face low right,
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: come on right there and he and he keeps it
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: on there for a minute. Remandre pops him, knocks him
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: off kilter. Now they're both in the same thing. Bosa
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: ripping through. He's the one who flushes Meg. Yeah, watch group.
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: I'm played in real time.
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: Watch group.
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: Close this thing down.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: Delly played safety, you can.
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: We didn't talk about that enough. We talked about the
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: quarterback who ran fifty yards downfield over and over again times,
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: so we didn't talk about defensive end who ran down
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: the quarterback.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: I know I was gonna say. MGS told us that
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: Drake may ran twenty miles per hour on that block.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: But what about Rousseau? Right their top speeds. They build
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: a freaking statue for him. Got a quarterback, quarterback, quarterback wins.
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: Look at this quarterback, this quarterback, quarterback, quarterback, quarterback.
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: There's other positions. Third and five, Yeah, that's fair. Third
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: and five here, second last play of the game for
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: the Patriots, play eighteen that we're going through. We got
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: this one and one more after it, but the seventeenth
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: official play. On this one, we are going to get
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: a simulated pressure from the bills, essentially a quarters simulated pressure.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: Max Harriston shock is in meg which is man everywhere
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: he goes on Kaishan Boodie. We're going to be matching
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: to the field side. We are going to get Matt
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: Mlano who rushes. We're going to get aj A Panessa
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: who falls off. Now we're gonna take a peak at
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: the end zone angle because I want to show the
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: community cation between Milano, Epanessa and Shaq Thompson because I
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: thought that was very interesting. But yeah, we get a
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: quarter sim pressure here. Here we go good coverage. May's
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: trying to throw it up to the Travon Henderson and
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: he just got nothing. So again we got man locked
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: in man with Hairston and Booty at the bottom of
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: the screen matching this thing up top. So Tarn sees
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: the running back coming out. He's going to the flat,
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: so he's gonna kick this man inside. The man that
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: he kicks inside right here essentially becomes the new number
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: three right now it's one two three. But because he
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: breaks in and he goes this way, the running back
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: becomes the two, and then the two right here becomes
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: the three. So that means when Tarren engages and reroutes
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: him a little bit, Shack now becomes responsible for him.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: He matches him just really nice. Again, there's not a
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: ton of routes here, but a nice little pass off.
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: How they do everything. You see tray up here late
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: into the one outside watch everybody just cover cover, cover
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: cover now the one help.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: Yeah, this is probably the one play in the second
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: half where Harriston didn't plaster to his man body. Body
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: is open.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: He runs that dig, but May's eyes do not even
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: register there. They don't get there. It's open, it's there.
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: It's a first down.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: And this is why changing your fronts, changing your pressure
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: looks can help, because May just gets stuck on Henderson
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: and he's hoping. Henderson kind of turns that thing up
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: field and Henderson just breaks it off to the sideline
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: and they're just on different pages. But yeah, he missed.
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: He missed Boody. He was wide open on the dig.
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: He had a lot of separation at the top of
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: the route, and he just missed him because he got
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: stuck on his guy. Probably I'm guessing the educated guess
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: the internal clock. He just felt like there's something exotic
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: happening with this front. I don't know if there's four.
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: I don't know if there's five coming. I'm gonna get
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: it out of my hand. I got to make a
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: play here. This one.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Very just felt like he was chucking it up, to
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: chuck it up, like he was just like, screw it,
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: let's get the fourth down because where on where like
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: where Henderson is or maybe miscommedy to me.
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: Right there, it felt like he, wait, does May have
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: the ball in his hand? I can't tell. They just
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: threw it like May just go through it prior to
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: the May trigger, Because there's a point prior to the
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: May trigger where I think Henderson looks back to May.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: And at this point right there, I think May thinks
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: he's gonna beat him with speed, Like we know Henderson's fast.
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: Just beat him with speed, because.
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: You can where May puts it, like May puts this
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: really upfield.
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: And once he triggers, Henderson settles towards the sideline and
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: they're just I think it's a miscommunication thinger. I think
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: he's expected more of a rail and more of a
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: wheel and Henderson.
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: Henderson kind of flattens this out, yeah, and like almost
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: flares Now end zone angle is interesting, So I wanted
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: to highlight this one. Romandre Stevenson before he's here. He's
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: out here again, and then he comes into the backfield.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: Milano is seeing that. He's in the midst of seeing
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: this right now.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: So Milano sees Remandre come into the backfield and watch
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: he essentially says something to aj A Panessa, and aj
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: Panessa will then look at Milano. He'll look up and
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: be like, wait what he peeks in the backfield and
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: sees what's going on. Now, he's gonna change his alignment
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: and change what he's doing ever so slightly. Now he's
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: done that. Okay, now, Shack Thompson, this man right here,
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: let's back up a quick second. Shaq now takes a
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: peek also at Remandre here looks into the backfield, sees Henderson.
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: He's gonna look over say something to Milano, and he's
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: also gonna hand gesture to Milano.
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: All of this.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Communication and then now let's watch how things play out
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: between all these guys. Milano is Russian, but watch Ajvanessa
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: becase again Shack dropped. He's more just communicating than anything.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: Watch Ajvanessa again.
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: This isn't like something revelatory, but he again he engages
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: the left guard. Now watch him fall off and gets
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: square rights. He's baiting like waiting, like he's sitting there
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: like step up, I dare you to step up. May doesn't.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: But now watch him start to move and make his
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: way in. He becomes the spy. I just thought that
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: was very interesting, the way that whole communication and now
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: watching a real time between those three, like you can
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: see Milano ce Remandre says something to Aj. Aj recognizes
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: it changes his alignment. Shack sees it. Shack gestures almost
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: like Shack almost kind of says like if I'm trying
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: to read the t leave, Shack almost says the type
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: of thing of like when he puts his hand up here,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: like you know, one of 'all spine or something right,
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: like yeah, you got this right. Because they checked there,
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: like they're communicating that they're hearing May's checks, They're seeing
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: the shift. Ca moarning the chest says wait what Malana
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: spoke words? Uh, he's nonverbal. We don't know, but I
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: thought that was very interesting, the way they adjust they
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: react between those three and then what we see posts.
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: Again, we saw something similar a little earlier where Aj
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: engaged the left guard and dropped out, But now this
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: is more of a true spy, like he's making his
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: way inside and getting right into that gap to get
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: right over me.
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: So do you think if Stevenson didn't motion back in,
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: someone else was gonna spy or that all, but that
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: both of them would rush. I'm thinking if as dropping
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: out regardless, Yes.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: I'm My thought here is if Remandre doesn't come in,
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: I'm thinking, because again, what do we want to go
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: to the wide angle? It's all going to be based
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: off of if Ramandre had stayed out here, you know,
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: way we get a different coverage, different type of look.
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: I think Milano is rushing because Remandre is coming in.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: He's saying that he's coming into he's coming in the backfield.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: I'm going to attack him and occupy that space. You're
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: the one who's dropping off.
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: Right, because that's the second Yep, that makes sense. That
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: tracks with the second half game plan. Just take away
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: the running backs to clear them as either a blocker
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: or a route early.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: And now what's interesting is it doesn't seem like it
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: doesn't feel like Milano is rushing and then like, okay,
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: I feel this block, let me continue. Maybe he does,
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: but Malana looks like he's straight rushing rushing.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: Yeah, no, he's not just trying to occupy the running back.
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: He's trying to get to the quarterback.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Yes, and so I think as aj Panessa rushes, you
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: can see him after he engages the left guard, Ajfanessa,
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: he oh, here's another one too, right, Like, watch aj
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: Panessa as he gets down in I think Groot says
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: something because he peeks back out like as if he's acknowledging,
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: like they're all acknowledging the check like now he heard something.
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: He's peeking kind of seeing what's up.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: And look, you could see him almost kind of like
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: again we can't see words of see their mouth. It
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: looks like a Pessa looks and says something right there
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: to them right yeah. Now watches aj Panessa engages the
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: left guard, pops out. His eyes were, oh, I go
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: let me freeze frame it better. That's where I need
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: like an actual like huddle controller.
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: Look where his eyes are. He's on Remandre.
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: He's he's the one who is now responsible for that
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: he's watching Remandre, but he sees that he's fully locked
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: in to Milano acting like a friggin honey badger and
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: is like okay, and then.
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: He falls off.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: Interesting, that's very I think that's very cool. Like the
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: adjustments on the fly and everything I did. There any
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: thoughts on that, I just realized.
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: I know that No, it's a lot of information to
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: take in, but no, that is interesting. I think it's
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: pretty cool. I thought about reaching out to I probably will.
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: I'm going to reach out to.
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: A player and see if there are a couple of
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: them and see if they will confirm what I think.
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: I try to keep those cards in my back pocket
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: until I absolutely need them. But I feel like we've
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: diagnosed that, but I kind of want to know for
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: sure because I think it's really cool. Yeah, fourth and five,
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: last play of the game for the Pats get a
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: pass that I understand. I don't fault them for not
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: running here. Essentially, now, this is what I talked about earlier. Right,
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: this was the Jordan Poyer interception. We got the motion
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: from Hunter Henry and it turns into mesh. This time
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: we were going to get a cover one stimulated pressure
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: from the Bill so it's man coverage across the board,
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: man coverage, man coverage, single high post safety and that
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: we're going to get a simulated pressure. I'm calling it
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: that because essentially we're showing five across the line right now.
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: But this is cool.
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: We're gonna get both edges are gonna drop out. Shack
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: Thompson is going to be the one who rushes, and
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: then another big piece on. This is again, aside from
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: this being the same play that we saw earlier, the
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: Bills just beat the.
- 2:00:31Speaker 2: Hell out of the Pats pass catchers.
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: Watch Hairston on Hollins, watch tarn On Diggs. They know
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: it's fourth and five, they know they have the freedom
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: before that first down marker. They beat the hell out
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: of them. They mug and gum this whole thing up.
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: This is real pretty. We'll start with Harriston on the
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: bottom of the screen. So again there's that little return
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: motion that yo yo from Henry. I'm going across Psych
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: I'm popping back out. He's gonna be the one to
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: run that over. Watch Harston and we'll start here on
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: the bottom. Hairston all over, Hollin's good press in his kitchen.
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: Now where to go Henry creates some leverage for himself
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: against Cole Bishop. But because that's right natural rub But
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: because we've got an edge dropping into the low hole,
- 2:01:17Speaker 1: this is gone. We've got another edge dropping into the
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: low hole out here. So that other drag from that's
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: too deep. But that other drag from Diggs is not there.
- 2:01:29Speaker 1: Bosa drops right into the window. Now, watch Terran, he's trailing.
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: Watch Terran just get right into digs and digs.
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: You know what. I'm gonna go back.
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: Watch Diggs realize it. Diggs tries to fake him out,
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: Watch him stop like he's gonna pivot. I'm going back
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: outside psych I'm gonna continue on that. That's why I
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: brought it up, because you you referenced that earlier, and
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: Terren just attaches to him and it's like, nah, I'm
- 2:01:57Speaker 1: just gonna ride you and beat the hell out of you.
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: I'm all over you.
- 2:02:00Speaker 2: Look at it. Look at this.
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: This is gorgeous. This is all mucked up. There's nothing there,
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: there's nothing here. Uh, there's potentially an opening here, but
- 2:02:08Speaker 1: you're not getting to the corner.
- 2:02:09Speaker 2: Route on match.
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: That's just not how the progression is gonna work realistically.
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: Drake May's trying to figure out what to do with
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: his life. Uh, and Bosa closes down quickly with a
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: great angle with urgency.
- 2:02:23Speaker 2: Diggs does kind of come open here. Maybe cam Lewis,
- 2:02:26Speaker 2: yeah he does, as like he did in Buffalo.
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: Maybe cam Lewis can close down and make a play,
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: but it looks open.
- 2:02:32Speaker 2: Ball gets batted.
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: And the last thing I want to highlight before I
- 2:02:36Speaker 1: kick it over to you, I love the blitz pick
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: up here from Ramandre Stevenson. Watch hit the car crash
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: between him and shack. Oh, that's just such a good
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: blitz pick up to dude likes him bang.
- 2:02:52Speaker 2: Look at him just staying shack up. They both kind
- 2:02:55Speaker 2: of yeah, that's a proper stalemate.
- 2:03:00Speaker 1: That's just bang like contact like that is just violence.
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: But I kick it to you. That's the last piece
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: I wanted to talk about.
- 2:03:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, what a fortuitous play call for the
- 2:03:10Speaker 2: Bills to drop out both those edges right into the mesh.
- 2:03:14Speaker 2: Look also so ironic that the Patriots ran mesh. Who
- 2:03:19Speaker 2: do they think they are? Brady's hilarious, but also like
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: McDaniels loves these little yo yo motions into the natural
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: rub and they tried it multiple times and it was
- 2:03:30Speaker 2: open if Dorian wasn't dropping right into it. Then on
- 2:03:34Speaker 2: the other side, yeah, Bosa was dropped right in the coverage.
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: But great job there, obviously by Bosa. He makes this
- 2:03:40Speaker 2: play seeing May escape that pocket and taking space away
- 2:03:46Speaker 2: from him because he could have just kind of sat
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: and coverage, but he take He took away the legs
- 2:03:51Speaker 2: of May. He closed the space and but broke down.
- 2:03:54Speaker 2: He broke down and slowed down and made sure that
- 2:03:57Speaker 2: he made himself available to deflect that pass. He did
- 2:04:01Speaker 2: a really great job leveraging space and taking this space
- 2:04:04Speaker 2: away from May. That was fortuitous play call, but great
- 2:04:09Speaker 2: follow through by Bosa to really put the finishing touches
- 2:04:12Speaker 2: on it. Yeah, one thousand. You can see May. He's
- 2:04:16Speaker 2: looking to the left. Why it's the same play as before.
- 2:04:18Speaker 2: He wants it's gonna be wide open if Dorian isn't there, Yes.
- 2:04:22Speaker 1: Yeah, there's space here, this kid, this ball can be
- 2:04:24Speaker 1: thrown right here.
- 2:04:25Speaker 2: Maybe Bishop, probably some yards after the catch, honestly.
- 2:04:29Speaker 1: Because yeah, Bishop gets held up a little bit. But
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: don't look at there's this ain't happening. There's nothing here.
- 2:04:35Speaker 2: So Drake.
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: Drake is like, oh, oh where else do I go
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: because after he looks to the left, Okay, that's not there.
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: Dorian's in the window there. He gets his eyes over here.
- 2:04:48Speaker 1: What does he see here?
- 2:04:50Speaker 2: There? Yeah, there's nothing here. Hollins isn't running a real
- 2:04:53Speaker 2: route Nope. And so now he gets his eyes back
- 2:04:56Speaker 2: to the left. He's like, oh, maybe did this like
- 2:04:58Speaker 2: kind of come open? No, it hasn't.
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: Okay, I gotta create to your point. Hollins is just
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: chilling like thinking, did you throw the ball yet? He
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: looks back look at Hollins.
- 2:05:11Speaker 2: His job there is to get Henry open. The ball
- 2:05:14Speaker 2: should be out. He looks back like, oh, should I run?
- 2:05:17Speaker 2: Should I not?
- 2:05:17Speaker 1: And now May takes off and you said it, you you,
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: you narrated it perfectly Bosa season. Bosa's now almost like
- 2:05:23Speaker 1: an aggressive spy at this point, closes down with urgency,
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: but he's under control, good angle, and then he just
- 2:05:30Speaker 1: makes himself big, like what you're supposed to do. When
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: I forget which colored bear?
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: Definitely, I was just gonna say, it's definitely something about
- 2:05:37Speaker 2: a bear.
- 2:05:38Speaker 1: If it's brown, lay down, if it's black, fight back,
- 2:05:43Speaker 1: and if it's white, night night, I think, which is
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: all say? Like, if it's So if it's a brown bear,
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: you play dad. If it's a black bear, you yell
- 2:05:50Speaker 1: and fight back, and if it's a polar bear you're dead.
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: Just say good night, it's over, or maybe it means
- 2:05:55Speaker 1: go to sleep night. They're pretty sure that's it. I
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: could be wrong. Someone of the chef probably knows it's
- 2:05:58Speaker 1: better than me. But yeah, gets up.
- 2:06:01Speaker 2: You can see digs have some space. Yeah, it's it's there.
- 2:06:04Speaker 2: It's possible.
- 2:06:06Speaker 1: Bills win.
- 2:06:07Speaker 2: Better play fortuitous play call better play for tuitous. Anything
- 2:06:11Speaker 2: else you want to go over with this?
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: Uh? With cake?
- 2:06:14Speaker 2: No? Man? That was That was a lot, but that
- 2:06:17Speaker 2: was a good a lot. I hope everyone learned a
- 2:06:21Speaker 2: lot from that. I hope everyone kind of relished in
- 2:06:24Speaker 2: it because it was a nice turnaround for the Bills,
- 2:06:27Speaker 2: really mixing things up. And I think, you know, for years,
- 2:06:32Speaker 2: even back to like the Leslie Frasier days of it all,
- 2:06:34Speaker 2: it's like, oh, we're just gonna sit back in our
- 2:06:37Speaker 2: soft zone and like, to be fair, it worked for
- 2:06:39Speaker 2: them when they were doing it because they had the
- 2:06:41Speaker 2: personnel to do it and execute. But I think we're
- 2:06:44Speaker 2: at a stage in this life cycle of this franchise
- 2:06:47Speaker 2: where kind of got to scheme up some things, mix
- 2:06:50Speaker 2: some things up, dictate to offenses, keep them on their toes,
- 2:06:53Speaker 2: and not just try to out execute them because we
- 2:06:56Speaker 2: aren't the Texans defense. We can't just out execute people.
- 2:07:01Speaker 2: So it's refreshing to see this from the Bills in
- 2:07:03Speaker 2: the second half. Hopefully they start doing it in first halves.
- 2:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I just don't want to play that dangerous game
- 2:07:11Speaker 1: of like we can dig ourselves out and like, I
- 2:07:13Speaker 1: don't want to play that game came playoff.
- 2:07:14Speaker 2: Time because like in theory, if you try this in
- 2:07:17Speaker 2: the first half and it doesn't work, you're still digging
- 2:07:20Speaker 2: yourself out of a hole. You're in the same right anyway,
- 2:07:24Speaker 2: Just try it, like it, it doesn't matter. I guess there's,
- 2:07:27Speaker 2: you know, the whole element of like, oh, we don't
- 2:07:29Speaker 2: want to put it on tape, and there's always that
- 2:07:31Speaker 2: conversation we don't want to like I don't know, maybe
- 2:07:34Speaker 2: it's true, maybe it isn't, but I think we're at
- 2:07:37Speaker 2: the point of the season where you gotta win games.
- 2:07:40Speaker 2: Right at this point, what's on tape is on tape,
- 2:07:43Speaker 2: and everyone's gonna be scouting your regardless, you gotta be
- 2:07:46Speaker 2: putting your best stuff out there and playing your best
- 2:07:49Speaker 2: because you're gonna need your best in three weeks time.
- 2:07:54Speaker 1: I completely agree, well said, speaking of the best best
- 2:07:59Speaker 1: pizza and Buffalo, New York. One Pie Pizza, sweet sauce pie,
- 2:08:03Speaker 1: cup of char pepperoni, great cheese, the sauce ratio on
- 2:08:06Speaker 1: the pizza. They also have a catering division called Elevated
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: Catering of Buffalo where they do any type of event
- 2:08:12Speaker 1: you got that you want to do, homemade mac and cheeses,
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: like a bunch of different kinds of mac and cheeses.
- 2:08:18Speaker 2: They're great.
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: I've had them cater multiple events for me over the
- 2:08:21Speaker 1: past couple of years and their stuff is awesome. You
- 2:08:23Speaker 1: can get the pizzas on top of it, two great
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: salads for one pie and for Elevated Caring a Buffalo.
- 2:08:27Speaker 1: Everything's awesome. But as I always talk and plug, this
- 2:08:30Speaker 1: time of year, it is Toys for Tot's time. They
- 2:08:34Speaker 1: are doing their Toys for Tots drive at One Pie.
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: So get yourself down there get some of the best
- 2:08:39Speaker 1: pizza in Buffalo. And I don't say they're the best
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: because they sponsor the show. They sponsor the show because
- 2:08:42Speaker 1: I think they are the best. Sincerely, bring a toy.
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: For every toy that you bring, new and unwrapped, drop
- 2:08:48Speaker 1: it into the bucket, you will get a ticket that
- 2:08:52Speaker 1: is good for one of several prizes. Well, if you
- 2:08:54Speaker 1: bring one toy, you get one ticket. You bring ten toys,
- 2:08:56Speaker 1: you get ten tickets. Prizes this year are a James
- 2:09:00Speaker 1: Hook autograph jersey, a Dion Dawkins autograph jersey, a three
- 2:09:04Speaker 1: hundred dollars one pie gift card, and one of ten
- 2:09:07Speaker 1: to thirty dollars one pie gift cards. I'll be dropping
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: off toys. I gotta be honest, it'd be sweet you
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: have one of the jerseys. I really want the three
- 2:09:13Speaker 1: hundred dollars one pie gift card because their pizza is amazing,
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: their food is amazing in general, So get down there,
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: engage in toys for tots. I say it all the
- 2:09:23Speaker 1: time with these episodes. Christmas is my favorite time of year. Obviously,
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: I would hope.
- 2:09:29Speaker 2: I can't. Right, you can never tell.
- 2:09:32Speaker 1: But Christmas in the holidays in general, right, aren't necessarily
- 2:09:35Speaker 1: as amazing of a time for everyone as they are
- 2:09:38Speaker 1: for me or for other individuals. So anything that anyone
- 2:09:42Speaker 1: can do, and whether you know I just I can
- 2:09:45Speaker 1: speak for one pie and what they do with toys
- 2:09:47Speaker 1: for Tots.
- 2:09:47Speaker 2: But if it's any type.
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: Of charitable donational aspect at this time of year, I
- 2:09:53Speaker 1: think people can really make a difference for people in need.
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: So if you have the capacity to give and donate
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: and make someone holiday a little brighter and a little happier,
- 2:10:03Speaker 1: I think it's awesome to do that to try and
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: better the community, the world, all that kind of stuff.
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: So you know, if get down to one pie, do
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: that or doing whatever form or fashion it comes in
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: for you, I think it's a really great time. And
- 2:10:15Speaker 1: uh yeah, I'll do it for us here on this
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: Episode'm gonna throw the band up. That says two of
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: those folks kendall any final words on anything before we
- 2:10:22Speaker 1: say goodbye?
- 2:10:24Speaker 2: Oh boy, put me on the spot.
- 2:10:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:10:26Speaker 2: After two hours, I don't know, So you could just
- 2:10:29Speaker 2: say no, man, I'm tapped out. I don't know if
- 2:10:31Speaker 2: I have gas in the tank. I got nothing.
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: That's why I kicked. I got nothing. I'm exhausted. So
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: what can you think about it?
- 2:10:37Speaker 2: Bills Go bills.
- 2:10:38Speaker 1: But all said, we hope you folks enjoyed this episode.
- 2:10:41Speaker 1: I know it was a bit of a different night
