- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken

- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the Coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Good morning my friends. OK, I have really exciting news
- 0:32and I know that this is like exciting for me and it may not
- 0:35be exciting for anybody else listening, but guess what?
- 0:37I grew my first onion and I had started them inside.
- 0:42I have this. So if you ever have the
- 0:45opportunity and you're and you are into flavors to try a
- 0:50Cipollini onion. They're small.
- 0:52So many people buy bigger onions because, you know, they let they
- 0:57provide more of an abundance. When you're cooking, you're
- 0:59usually adding onions into what you're cooking.
- 1:02But last year, maybe it was the year before I tried a Chipolini
- 1:06onion. They had them for sale.
- 1:08I think I was in Whole Foods that they were selling them and
- 1:11they're small. And I was like, oh, that seems.
- 1:14And it was just so cute. It was kind of like a little
- 1:16squat onion. It was really cute and I got it
- 1:18and I could not believe the flavor of it.
- 1:21It was so different. It was kind of like this, a
- 1:24sweeter onion, but it had this really wonderful flavor.
- 1:28Now, since we all taste things differently, who knows if the
- 1:30rest of you would feel this way, but I have to tell you the
- 1:32sorry. So I see this and I'm like, OK,
- 1:35I'm going to I'm going to try to find seeds for these.
- 1:37Now onions do grow by seeds. Sometimes they sell them to you
- 1:41ahead of time when they're already started because the
- 1:42seeds are so small, they're like you can barely see them.
- 1:47But I find online organic cipollini seeds and I get them
- 1:51and I decide that I'm going to sow them and I try it and
- 1:54nothing happens. Like nothing happens.
- 1:56I put them outside, nothing happens.
- 1:59So this year I ordered more seeds, a different company, and
- 2:04I started them inside and I said OK, I'm going to see what
- 2:08happens if I start them inside. So changing my approach and lo
- 2:12and behold, they took off and then I planted them.
- 2:14I transplanted them outside, which I mean sometimes don't
- 2:17take well to transplanting. They can just depends on the
- 2:20type. But I did it and I knew I was
- 2:24starting at a time. Onions like cooler weather and
- 2:27you know, it's not just hot here, it's hell hot.
- 2:30So I'm like, OK, we'll see what happens.
- 2:33And lo and behold, we had a really like not as hot spring, a
- 2:39little bit of wetter spring and they took off And yesterday now,
- 2:44while it wasn't fully like to the size it should be, it's
- 2:47still edible. But it was like, you know, I now
- 2:51it's really hot. So I have to pull them out of
- 2:53the ground. I think today it's supposed to
- 2:54be 95. So I, I was adamant I was going
- 2:59to take him out before anything happened and I pulled him out of
- 3:01the ground and I could not believe my fortune for what I
- 3:05found because I was just. And that's how I felt like I'd
- 3:08found a fortune because I had this little squat bulb shaped
- 3:12onion and I was just like, this is perfect.
- 3:15I was so excited and I stopped and I said to myself, isn't it
- 3:19crazy how this one little thing, this one onion from one seed
- 3:23could make me feel so excited? And it wasn't just that I I was
- 3:29excited that I did it, it was that I was excited that I got to
- 3:34give it an opportunity to actually come to fruition.
- 3:37Because I always feel like when I plant seeds that don't work, I
- 3:41feel like I wasted its potential.
- 3:44And I swear to you, it sounds crazy, but that's exactly what
- 3:47happens. It's just like cutting the
- 3:49flowers from the cut flower garden.
- 3:51Sometimes they have a really hard time with it because I
- 3:53don't want to take its life. I want it to just come and do
- 3:55what it was supposed to do and go.
- 3:57So I've had to create a special spot where I can cut them.
- 4:01I tell them that ahead of time so I don't feel bad about it.
- 4:04And then I, I, when I cut them, I actually stop and pause and
- 4:08tell them thank you and I bring them inside and I can appreciate
- 4:13them differently. But this, I was like, Oh my
- 4:15gosh, I got it to come up. I got it to live.
- 4:19It's, it's, it's onion life. And as crazy as it sounds, I
- 4:23felt so happy for that piece. I not that I did it, but that it
- 4:28got to do its potential. And I think that that's where a
- 4:31lot of us get stuck in the world is that we feel like we're not
- 4:36living to our potential. And I, I see it with my clients,
- 4:41I see it with myself. It's like I'm not living to the
- 4:44potential that I could be. I hear that all the time.
- 4:47And So what, what do you do about that?
- 4:50What do you do about that? Well, you keep doing what I did
- 4:52when I tried to figure out how to grow a Chipolini onion.
- 4:55You change your approach, you change your approach, you change
- 4:57your approach, but what you don't do is give up on yourself.
- 5:00You don't give up on what you're working on inside yourself.
- 5:03You keep going and you change your approach.
- 5:06And that's the best part of it. When you can change your
- 5:09approach, when you can ask different questions, when you
- 5:12can seek different people, that's when the world changes.
- 5:15So remember that. Remember the lesson of growing a
- 5:18Chipolini onion. And if you ever have the
- 5:20opportunity to eat one, grab it, my friends, because they're
- 5:23awesome. All right, I hope you have a
- 5:25blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:27Bye.
