- WEBVTT 00:00:20.830 --> 00:00:24.809 What is up everyone I hope you're having a fantastic 00:00:24.809 --> 00:00:29.870 week because I am I have I kind of finally settled 00:00:29.870 --> 00:00:33.429 into the apartment with Serena. Most of my stuff 00:00:33.429 --> 00:00:37.090 is unpacked. I say as I'm looking at 1, 2, 3, 00:00:37.329 --> 00:00:41.469 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 boxes and a mirror 00:00:41.469 --> 00:00:44.750 still wrapped in bubble wrap and a surfboard 00:00:44.750 --> 00:00:47.250 sitting against the wall that is missing two 00:00:47.250 --> 00:00:50.810 fins and does not need to live on that wall. 00:00:50.890 --> 00:00:54.880 It needs to live somewhere else. So yeah, um, 00:00:55.219 --> 00:00:57.880 but yeah, that's been great unpacking. I just 00:00:57.880 --> 00:01:00.280 really need to get a bookcase for all my books 00:01:00.280 --> 00:01:03.820 and then Ten of those boxes will be emptied and 00:01:03.820 --> 00:01:08.920 then I need a rug Really badly, so I think I'm 00:01:08.920 --> 00:01:14.239 gonna get on rugs USA today recording on So sorry, 00:01:14.799 --> 00:01:17.540 I have already done so much today. We got up. 00:01:17.540 --> 00:01:20.540 Well first off. Let me backtrack as to why I'm 00:01:20.540 --> 00:01:23.879 tired We went and saw the new Spider -Man last 00:01:23.879 --> 00:01:27.140 night. Now, as y 'all know, I am an old lady 00:01:27.140 --> 00:01:29.939 at heart. I go to bed at 9 .30 almost every single 00:01:29.939 --> 00:01:33.099 night so I can get up early to go to the gym, 00:01:33.519 --> 00:01:36.299 which Serena and I have started off really strong 00:01:36.299 --> 00:01:41.780 on Monday morning doing. So Spider -Man was not... 00:01:42.470 --> 00:01:46.310 Starting till 955 and we got there at like 952 00:01:46.310 --> 00:01:48.030 and then of course we had to get popcorn and 00:01:48.030 --> 00:01:50.790 soda So we got that and then we get to the movie 00:01:50.790 --> 00:01:53.469 in the theater and obviously commercials play 00:01:53.469 --> 00:01:59.030 for another 20 minutes I'm gonna yada good Okay, 00:01:59.909 --> 00:02:02.290 and so really let's be honest it didn't start 00:02:02.290 --> 00:02:06.349 till 1015 1020 and it's what like a three -hour 00:02:06.349 --> 00:02:08.650 movie or something. So we did not get out of 00:02:08.650 --> 00:02:15.169 the theater until Past 1 a .m. Yeah, which again 00:02:15.169 --> 00:02:18.310 when you're an old lady at heart, that's kind 00:02:18.310 --> 00:02:21.409 of exhausting So then we get to drive home we 00:02:21.409 --> 00:02:24.349 get home we go to bed And I was like we're not 00:02:24.349 --> 00:02:26.849 gonna get up at 6 o 'clock 6 30 in the morning 00:02:26.849 --> 00:02:29.729 to go to the gym Let's sleep in so serena and 00:02:29.729 --> 00:02:32.750 I slept in and then we got up around 8 and we 00:02:32.750 --> 00:02:36.969 went for a walk in the heat of the morning And 00:02:36.969 --> 00:02:38.509 when you're in South Florida, the heat of the 00:02:38.509 --> 00:02:43.340 morning is the heat the heat which is not the 00:02:43.340 --> 00:02:45.599 heat of the heat of the heat that's in the afternoon 00:02:45.599 --> 00:02:51.000 but there was a lot of sweat and it was a nice 00:02:51.000 --> 00:02:53.759 little walk over to the beach and back and I 00:02:53.759 --> 00:02:56.800 definitely feel like I you know sweat out a lot 00:02:56.800 --> 00:03:01.439 of chemicals fingers crossed and was glad I wasn't 00:03:01.439 --> 00:03:04.000 wearing sunscreen because I sunscreen already 00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:06.599 like burns my skin a little bit but I do wear 00:03:06.599 --> 00:03:09.319 it every day But when I sweat, it obviously gets 00:03:09.319 --> 00:03:11.780 into your eyes and that's not fun. So I was like, 00:03:11.840 --> 00:03:13.680 man, the sweats already bring my eyes. So glad 00:03:13.680 --> 00:03:19.479 there's no sunscreen mixed in with it. Oh my 00:03:19.479 --> 00:03:22.219 gosh, you would think I need to take a nap. That's 00:03:22.219 --> 00:03:25.319 what you would think. Anyways, we saw Spider 00:03:25.319 --> 00:03:28.879 -Man. Amazing. Loved it. So freaking good. I've 00:03:28.879 --> 00:03:32.020 waited two years for this movie. Did not disappoint. 00:03:32.680 --> 00:03:35.699 Fully, fully enjoyed it. Got up went to went 00:03:35.699 --> 00:03:40.159 for a walk. got home, changed, well washed myself, 00:03:40.539 --> 00:03:43.759 changed, put makeup on, and I went to the new 00:03:43.759 --> 00:03:46.500 salon and I did most of my paperwork, not all 00:03:46.500 --> 00:03:48.719 of my paperwork, and while I was there the salon 00:03:48.719 --> 00:03:54.060 flooded. So then I offered, because we are who 00:03:54.060 --> 00:03:56.680 we are, right? We want to show up, well especially 00:03:56.680 --> 00:03:58.840 on a new job, I offered to help clean up the 00:03:58.840 --> 00:04:02.280 water. So that's what I did. Finish that went 00:04:02.280 --> 00:04:05.340 to Trader Joe's and let me tell you about my 00:04:05.340 --> 00:04:09.300 new favorite person Pete Pete is amazing. He 00:04:09.300 --> 00:04:14.780 is a 66 year old man who I Just think is amazing 00:04:14.780 --> 00:04:18.220 because I get to check out and he's like listen, 00:04:18.259 --> 00:04:20.379 where are you from? And I was like, oh, I'm from 00:04:20.379 --> 00:04:22.079 North Carolina and he was like, you don't have 00:04:22.079 --> 00:04:23.839 an accent I said, thank you because everybody 00:04:23.839 --> 00:04:25.980 here keeps telling me have an accent I'm so glad 00:04:25.980 --> 00:04:27.560 you don't think that. He was like, no, I'm from 00:04:27.560 --> 00:04:29.199 Florida. I have more of an accent than you do. 00:04:29.220 --> 00:04:31.160 And I was like, OK, it's not a competition, B. 00:04:31.360 --> 00:04:34.600 Calm down. But by the end of the conversation, 00:04:34.879 --> 00:04:37.600 he ended up filling one of my bags up with a 00:04:37.600 --> 00:04:40.839 lot of lollipops to the point where another cashier 00:04:40.839 --> 00:04:42.040 was like, what are you doing? And he was like, 00:04:42.120 --> 00:04:44.240 I'm setting this girl up. And I thought, you 00:04:44.240 --> 00:04:46.279 really are giving me all the lollipops. And do 00:04:46.279 --> 00:04:49.620 you have a son who happens to love the Lord, 00:04:50.079 --> 00:04:53.420 our Savior, Jesus Christ? But anyways, cannot 00:04:53.420 --> 00:04:56.680 wait to see Pete again. He was fantastic. He 00:04:56.680 --> 00:04:59.879 was the highlight of meeting people here because 00:04:59.879 --> 00:05:02.100 not everybody's been that nice. Also men don't 00:05:02.100 --> 00:05:04.779 open doors for you so be ready for that because 00:05:04.779 --> 00:05:07.019 at least in North Carolina men open doors for 00:05:07.019 --> 00:05:10.180 women here. They let them close on your face 00:05:10.180 --> 00:05:12.800 and that has been a culture shock in itself. 00:05:12.839 --> 00:05:17.579 Was not prepared for that whatsoever. It's been 00:05:17.579 --> 00:05:22.120 a big change and I just have to practice being 00:05:22.120 --> 00:05:29.569 nice. or nicer I guess than ever before because 00:05:29.569 --> 00:05:31.529 how else are we gonna change the people around 00:05:31.529 --> 00:05:33.350 us except for not you can't change people but 00:05:33.350 --> 00:05:35.870 anyways yeah so people don't open up doors for 00:05:35.870 --> 00:05:39.069 you people don't smile people don't seem happy 00:05:39.069 --> 00:05:41.670 it's kind of like when you go really far up north 00:05:41.670 --> 00:05:43.889 and everyone's angry because they're cold that's 00:05:43.889 --> 00:05:47.370 like being really far south and people are angry 00:05:47.370 --> 00:05:51.389 because they're hot and I love the heat, so I'm 00:05:51.389 --> 00:05:54.370 fine with it, but they are not okay with it, 00:05:54.389 --> 00:05:59.310 but really not. I'm going to miss, oh, and I've 00:05:59.310 --> 00:06:02.790 gone to the beach a lot. That was so just thrown 00:06:02.790 --> 00:06:04.170 in there, but I just thought everybody should 00:06:04.170 --> 00:06:05.790 know because we're also going to the beach on 00:06:05.790 --> 00:06:08.910 Saturday with people that I don't really know 00:06:08.910 --> 00:06:10.910 anything about, but we're going. And I'm going 00:06:10.910 --> 00:06:12.810 to bring a book because I'm reading a really 00:06:12.810 --> 00:06:14.069 good book right now. And I would tell you guys 00:06:14.069 --> 00:06:15.610 what it's called, but I don't remember the name 00:06:15.610 --> 00:06:17.829 because it's on my Kindle and it was Kindle Limited 00:06:17.829 --> 00:06:21.350 and we love a free book. um let's switch gears 00:06:21.350 --> 00:06:24.269 really quick and talk about what is in what is 00:06:24.269 --> 00:06:29.329 in besides the obvious is moving in with your 00:06:29.329 --> 00:06:31.649 best friend if you get the opportunity to now 00:06:31.649 --> 00:06:35.029 to recommend we're only on day saturday sunday 00:06:35.029 --> 00:06:38.509 monday tuesday wednesday probably on day five 00:06:38.509 --> 00:06:43.750 and it's been fantastic so cannot recommend enough 00:06:43.750 --> 00:06:47.410 now let me tell you what is out there are these 00:06:47.410 --> 00:06:50.720 reptile little rats that run around this town 00:06:50.720 --> 00:06:54.980 and they come in all shapes and all sizes and 00:06:54.980 --> 00:06:58.879 they are lizards slash iguanas slash I did already 00:06:58.879 --> 00:07:01.480 see a big iguana today and I was like oh no and 00:07:01.480 --> 00:07:03.980 I know they get bigger um but the little ones 00:07:03.980 --> 00:07:06.540 are fast and I mean they're anywhere from the 00:07:06.540 --> 00:07:09.819 size of a dime to the size of a giant iguana 00:07:09.819 --> 00:07:13.360 to the size of an alligator which I haven't seen 00:07:13.360 --> 00:07:17.939 yet Yeah, anyways, they're everywhere. In fact, 00:07:18.199 --> 00:07:20.379 I was in this restaurant, well not a restaurant, 00:07:20.540 --> 00:07:22.240 kind of a restaurant, anyways, Saturday with 00:07:22.240 --> 00:07:26.500 my father and this thing ran into the corner 00:07:26.500 --> 00:07:28.120 of the restaurant and I thought it was an actual 00:07:28.120 --> 00:07:32.339 rat, not one of those lizards. Anyways, that's 00:07:32.339 --> 00:07:34.420 what's out. Those things freak me out and they 00:07:34.420 --> 00:07:37.240 are everywhere. They're like brooches. They are 00:07:37.240 --> 00:07:40.180 literally... everywhere. In fact, I've never 00:07:40.180 --> 00:07:42.740 seen as many roaches in my life as I've seen 00:07:42.740 --> 00:07:44.779 of these lizards because they're everywhere. 00:07:45.220 --> 00:07:46.879 And low key, I'm going to speak into existence, 00:07:47.019 --> 00:07:49.759 dear Lord. Please don't let this happen. But 00:07:49.759 --> 00:07:52.939 I have this fear now that one's going to be in 00:07:52.939 --> 00:07:55.660 my car. I do. I should have said out loud. I've 00:07:55.660 --> 00:07:57.819 been thinking it in my head, but I had to say 00:07:57.819 --> 00:07:59.860 it out loud. I have a fear that it's going to 00:07:59.860 --> 00:08:04.680 once going to be in my car one day. Yeah. Anyways, 00:08:05.540 --> 00:08:10.300 those are my thoughts on what I live on and I 00:08:10.300 --> 00:08:16.040 have nothing else for you so okay let's get into 00:08:16.040 --> 00:08:30.139 the episode we are jumping right on in this week 00:08:30.139 --> 00:08:35.950 with part 12 of the lineage of Jesus Where we 00:08:35.950 --> 00:08:41.610 left off was King Hezekiah was dying and we are 00:08:41.610 --> 00:08:44.269 picking up with, well, he died. Not dying, he 00:08:44.269 --> 00:08:46.850 died. He's dead. And we're picking up with his 00:08:46.850 --> 00:08:50.950 son, Manasseh, who took his father's place on 00:08:50.950 --> 00:08:54.009 the throne when he was just 12 years old. Man, 00:08:54.450 --> 00:08:57.629 literally imagine being king at 12. I wasn't 00:08:57.629 --> 00:08:59.889 even confident enough to tell people my favorite 00:08:59.889 --> 00:09:03.080 color was pink. when I was 12 so I can't imagine 00:09:03.080 --> 00:09:05.639 being king and making decisions. Obviously, I 00:09:05.639 --> 00:09:07.580 wouldn't make any good ones and neither does 00:09:07.580 --> 00:09:10.440 this one because you wouldn't say he was a good 00:09:10.440 --> 00:09:13.539 king, heck. You probably wouldn't even say he 00:09:13.539 --> 00:09:17.700 was an okay king or an alright king because he 00:09:17.700 --> 00:09:20.220 brought all the idols and their high places back. 00:09:20.440 --> 00:09:22.500 Like everything that his father got rid of, he 00:09:22.500 --> 00:09:26.299 brought it back tenfold. It kind of reminds me 00:09:26.299 --> 00:09:28.519 a little bit of that story or the parable Jesus 00:09:28.519 --> 00:09:31.509 says where He was like if you get rid of a spirit 00:09:31.509 --> 00:09:33.450 and you clean the house, but you don't fill it 00:09:33.450 --> 00:09:35.730 with something else Like it's gonna come back 00:09:35.730 --> 00:09:37.730 see it's empty and bring seven more ten more 00:09:37.730 --> 00:09:40.529 evil spirits with it It's like his father got 00:09:40.529 --> 00:09:43.870 rid of these idols, but he didn't teach the people 00:09:43.870 --> 00:09:46.230 I Won't say he didn't teach but like there's 00:09:46.230 --> 00:09:49.639 nothing put in place to fill that space with 00:09:49.639 --> 00:09:52.120 god instead of those idols so they sat empty 00:09:52.120 --> 00:09:54.159 and his son you know said you know what we're 00:09:54.159 --> 00:09:56.779 going to bring all this back so he brings back 00:09:56.779 --> 00:09:59.379 the idols in high places he actually ends up 00:09:59.379 --> 00:10:02.139 sacrificing his own son we don't know how old 00:10:02.139 --> 00:10:04.159 he is when he does this but he does sacrifice 00:10:04.159 --> 00:10:06.759 his own child he burns him in an altar sorry 00:10:06.759 --> 00:10:08.100 i probably should have put out like a trigger 00:10:08.100 --> 00:10:12.580 warning um and then he also used fortune telling 00:10:13.310 --> 00:10:17.110 omens and dealt with mediums and necromancers. 00:10:17.690 --> 00:10:21.850 So like obviously God hated all of that, every 00:10:21.850 --> 00:10:24.529 little bit of that. And where we are now going 00:10:24.529 --> 00:10:28.210 to pick up is going to be 2 Kings chapter 21 00:10:28.210 --> 00:10:33.179 verses 10 through 13 if you're ready. And it 00:10:33.179 --> 00:10:36.860 says, And the LORD said by his servants the prophets, 00:10:37.240 --> 00:10:39.759 Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed 00:10:39.759 --> 00:10:42.360 these abominations, and have done these things 00:10:42.360 --> 00:10:46.000 more evil than all the Amorites did, who were 00:10:46.000 --> 00:10:49.379 before him, and has made Judah also to sin with 00:10:49.379 --> 00:11:15.049 his idols. Therefore, thus says the LORD. I'm 00:11:15.049 --> 00:11:18.169 sorry, but like I just cannot imagine God saying 00:11:18.169 --> 00:11:20.950 that without a southern accent because this is 00:11:20.950 --> 00:11:23.600 just straight up giving southern metaphor like 00:11:23.600 --> 00:11:26.759 don't you hear your mom saying I'm gonna wipe 00:11:26.759 --> 00:11:30.820 you wipe your butt I'm gonna spank you and be 00:11:30.820 --> 00:11:32.820 wiping it like you would a dish that's been turned 00:11:32.820 --> 00:11:35.919 upside down or you know how they always say like 00:11:35.919 --> 00:11:38.299 someone's talking about you your ears burn it's 00:11:38.299 --> 00:11:40.059 like if you're gonna whoever hears that their 00:11:40.059 --> 00:11:43.820 ears are sure gonna tingle that's what I picture 00:11:43.820 --> 00:11:46.860 it coming across like I'm sure that's not how 00:11:46.860 --> 00:11:49.419 it was but that's what I imagined so you're welcome 00:11:49.419 --> 00:11:54.070 sorry that's my additional sidetrack. So in 2 00:11:54.070 --> 00:11:58.289 Chronicles chapter 33 we see Manasseh gives no 00:11:58.289 --> 00:12:00.450 attention to what God has to say and neither 00:12:00.450 --> 00:12:03.710 do the people. So God is like, oh, I'm about 00:12:03.710 --> 00:12:06.870 to teach you a lesson. And he sets the army of 00:12:06.870 --> 00:12:09.750 Assyria against Manasseh who then gets captured 00:12:09.750 --> 00:12:14.149 with a hook bound by chains of bronze and they 00:12:14.149 --> 00:12:17.330 bring him back to Babylon. All roads seem to 00:12:17.330 --> 00:12:19.820 lead to Babylon during this stage. So then we 00:12:19.820 --> 00:12:23.279 get a plot twist in 2 Chronicles chapter 33 verses 00:12:23.279 --> 00:12:25.720 12 and 13, and I'm going to tell you what it 00:12:25.720 --> 00:12:49.320 says because it says, So after he gets captured, 00:12:49.320 --> 00:12:52.519 he's like, listen, I understand God is God. I'm 00:12:52.519 --> 00:12:54.559 surrendered. I apologize for everything I've 00:12:54.559 --> 00:12:58.100 done. I'm humbled and I'm now going to live my 00:12:58.100 --> 00:13:02.779 life for Jesus or not for Jesus yet, but for 00:13:02.779 --> 00:13:04.860 God. I do want to just point out though, that 00:13:04.860 --> 00:13:07.559 like at the same time that we see that happening, 00:13:07.559 --> 00:13:10.919 we also see here that God is consistent. Even 00:13:10.919 --> 00:13:13.440 when Manasseh like humbles himself like David 00:13:13.440 --> 00:13:16.870 did and many others before him. or after him, 00:13:17.330 --> 00:13:20.230 God is quick to forgive and he sets you back 00:13:20.230 --> 00:13:23.529 on course, so Manasseh is taken off of his throne 00:13:23.529 --> 00:13:26.029 and then God puts him right back on that throne 00:13:26.029 --> 00:13:29.269 to keep the line going in the direction it should 00:13:29.269 --> 00:13:32.809 be. Anyways, when Manasseh gets home, he builds 00:13:32.809 --> 00:13:35.129 a wall to protect the city and then he tears 00:13:35.129 --> 00:13:37.490 down the high places he had originally built, 00:13:37.889 --> 00:13:41.049 puts God's temple back together and in order, 00:13:41.470 --> 00:13:44.840 took away the idols, and he reigned for 55 years 00:13:44.840 --> 00:13:48.940 and then he was buried in a garden of his home 00:13:48.940 --> 00:13:51.519 and I don't know I just think that's kind of 00:13:51.519 --> 00:13:55.000 like cute in a weird way I don't know being buried 00:13:55.000 --> 00:13:56.820 in the garden of your home that's like kind of 00:13:56.820 --> 00:14:01.279 chic so who was Manasseh? he was a kid thrown 00:14:01.279 --> 00:14:04.559 onto the throne like many before him he didn't 00:14:04.559 --> 00:14:07.399 steward his reign or people well he was quickly 00:14:07.399 --> 00:14:10.279 humbled by God and quickly humbled himself trying 00:14:10.279 --> 00:14:14.240 to Right all his wrongs his people still worshiped 00:14:14.240 --> 00:14:16.460 idols after all he had done when he got back 00:14:16.460 --> 00:14:18.500 from being captured And I think that shows us 00:14:18.500 --> 00:14:21.580 that even when we change and grow those around 00:14:21.580 --> 00:14:26.019 us from before That change had happened and growth 00:14:26.019 --> 00:14:29.919 had happened Won't always follow as they did 00:14:29.919 --> 00:14:33.299 before Meaning like as we change and grow who 00:14:33.299 --> 00:14:36.879 was with us before? There they can see that changing 00:14:36.879 --> 00:14:39.059 growth and not want to follow the lead even though 00:14:39.059 --> 00:14:42.039 they used to follow your lead and like Literally 00:14:42.039 --> 00:14:43.720 every single way like you said jump and they 00:14:43.720 --> 00:14:45.600 said how high you decide you like the color blue 00:14:45.600 --> 00:14:47.700 They all like the color blue that can change 00:14:47.700 --> 00:14:51.399 quickly when you start to live for Jesus But 00:14:51.399 --> 00:14:55.820 God Also in this as we will see he is continuing 00:14:55.820 --> 00:14:59.399 to be consistent he forgave got Manasseh back 00:14:59.399 --> 00:15:02.009 on the right path And it's kind of a reminder 00:15:02.009 --> 00:15:04.649 of how Jesus shows up later in the same world 00:15:04.649 --> 00:15:07.370 with the same heart towards forgiveness. Jesus 00:15:07.370 --> 00:15:09.929 was always ready and willing to forgive those 00:15:09.929 --> 00:15:14.370 who would humble themselves and repent. Now, 00:15:15.669 --> 00:15:17.830 because of the time and the fact that we have 00:15:17.830 --> 00:15:21.029 plenty of it, we're going to go over the story 00:15:21.029 --> 00:15:24.029 of Amon, Manasseh's son, and we're going to go 00:15:24.029 --> 00:15:26.809 ahead and read his whole story because it is 00:15:26.809 --> 00:15:31.179 in fact short, probably not sweet, But let's 00:15:31.179 --> 00:15:34.080 go ahead and dive into 2 Chronicles, same chapter, 00:15:34.460 --> 00:15:38.100 33 verses 21 through 25. And I'm going to read 00:15:38.100 --> 00:15:40.860 it to you. Amon was 22 years old when he began 00:15:40.860 --> 00:15:43.580 to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. 00:15:44.039 --> 00:15:47.600 That is never a good sign. And he did what was 00:15:47.600 --> 00:15:49.519 evil in the sight of the Lord, as Manasseh's 00:15:49.519 --> 00:15:52.659 father had done. Amon sacrificed all the images 00:15:52.659 --> 00:15:54.899 that Manasseh his father had made and served 00:15:54.899 --> 00:15:57.539 them. and he did not humble himself before the 00:15:57.539 --> 00:16:00.279 Lord, as Manasseh's father had humbled himself. 00:16:00.860 --> 00:16:04.440 But this Amon cured guilt more and more, and 00:16:04.440 --> 00:16:07.019 his servants conspired against him and put him 00:16:07.019 --> 00:16:09.919 to death in his house. But the people of the 00:16:09.919 --> 00:16:12.080 land struck down all those who had conspired 00:16:12.080 --> 00:16:14.799 against King Amon, and the people of the land 00:16:14.799 --> 00:16:18.110 made Josiah his son, king in his place. That 00:16:18.110 --> 00:16:19.710 was pretty straight forward I would say, and 00:16:19.710 --> 00:16:22.070 it keeps on track that when they had a bad ruler, 00:16:22.169 --> 00:16:25.250 they didn't seem to last very long. Like at all. 00:16:26.049 --> 00:16:29.970 So bye bye Amen. See, I promised you it was short. 00:16:30.610 --> 00:16:33.210 Okay, that's all for part 12 of the Genealogy 00:16:33.210 --> 00:16:37.470 of Jesus.
