- 0:00Speaker 1: President Trump is slamming Michigan's Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
- 0:03Speaker 1: In a speech in Las Vegas Wednesday, Trump claimed Abdul
- 0:06Speaker 1: El-Sayed hates Jewish people and hates Israel.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Abdul El-Sayed, lovely gentleman, is a man of hate. And
- 0:14Speaker 2: now he's going around saying, no, I love everybody. He
- 0:16Speaker 2: doesn't love everybody.
- 0:17Speaker 1: He went on to predict that El-Sayed will lose the
- 0:20Speaker 1: November election. The progressive Democrat defeated establishment-backed Congresswoman Haley Stevens
- 0:25Speaker 1: in Tuesday's closely watched contest. In the midterms, El-Sayed will
- 0:28Speaker 1: face Republican Mike Rogers, who has Trump's backing. Primary contests
- 0:32Speaker 1: are being held in Tennessee on Thursday. The main event
- 0:35Speaker 1: is the Republican primary for governor, where Senator Marsha Blackburn,
- 0:38Speaker 1: Congressman John Rose, and State Representative Monty Fritz are running
- 0:42Speaker 1: to replace term-limited Republican Governor Bill Lee. And Acting Attorney
- 0:45Speaker 1: General Todd Blanch won't have Republican Senator Susan Collins' vote
- 0:49Speaker 1: when his nomination heads to the Senate floor. She says
- 0:52Speaker 1: she reviewed his qualifications and concluded... His actions have further
- 0:55Speaker 1: eroded the Justice Department's independence.
- 0:58Speaker 2: That's politics.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I'm Mark Mayfield. As an adult, kids want to know
- 1:05Speaker 3: you're listening to them, but they also want to listen
- 1:07Speaker 3: to you. When it comes to alcohol, they want to
- 1:10Speaker 3: know your expectations and how and why to avoid underage drinking.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Talking early and often about it in everyday conversations reinforces
- 1:18Speaker 3: your message and keeps lines of communication open. For more information,
- 1:22Speaker 3: visit underagedrinking.samhsa.gov.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Everyone can help keep our roads safe. When I'm making
- 1:32Speaker 4: a wide turn in my bus, I'll remember to be careful.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Please give me plenty of space to finish my turn
- 1:37Speaker 4: before you drive ahead. Let's all plan to share the
- 1:40Speaker 4: road safely. Visit www.sharetheroadsafely.gov.
- 1:44Speaker 5: For the eighth inning, and Cincinnati leads that ball game
- 1:47Speaker 5: by a score of 9-5. Elsewhere, Pittsburgh hammering the Marlins
- 1:52Speaker 5: down in Miami, 13-1. They are in the bottom half
- 1:55Speaker 5: of the ninth inning. The Mariners shutting out the Yankees, 1-0,
- 1:59Speaker 5: top of the seventh at Yankee Stadium. And it's the
- 2:03Speaker 5: Red Sox leading the Blue Jays, 1-0, top of the
- 2:06Speaker 5: second up in Canada. Rest of the action later on.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Stay with us.
- 2:10Speaker 5: We'll have our Honda drive-at-home game summary after this.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It's great to catch up, Jamie.
- 2:18Speaker 6: How's business?
- 2:19Speaker 5: Good.
- 2:20Speaker 7: Are you up to speed with the new beneficial ownership
- 2:23Speaker 7: reporting requirements?
- 2:24Speaker 3: Sort of.
- 2:25Speaker 2: What's it about?
- 2:26Speaker 7: It's a new initiative to help fight crimes like money laundering, fraud,
- 2:30Speaker 7: and drug trafficking. A lot of small businesses like ours
- 2:34Speaker 7: just have to report some basic info to the federal
- 2:37Speaker 7: government about the real people behind them.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Does that include my cafe?
- 2:41Speaker 8: There are some exemptions for certain companies, but don't worry.
- 2:45Speaker 8: There's lots of guidance on the government's website about who
- 2:48Speaker 8: needs to file. Check out FinCEN.gov slash BOI.
- 2:53Speaker 9: Filing is easy and free. It took me less.
- 2:56Speaker 6: Than 20 minutes. Looks like I do have to file.
- 2:59Speaker 10: Thanks, Jamie.
- 3:00Speaker 6: It's great having a supportive business community.
- 3:02Speaker 8: Reporting beneficial ownership information helps protect U.S.
- 3:05Speaker 9: National security. Filing is quick, secure, and free. And it's
- 3:09Speaker 9: the law.
- 3:10Speaker 11: Learn more at FinCEN.gov slash BOI.
- 3:25Speaker 12: Click this link now to review my bank transfer. I
- 3:29Speaker 12: didn't make a bank transfer. Ugh, another phishing message. Are
- 3:33Speaker 12: you frustrated by these too? So much of our lives
- 3:36Speaker 12: are online today. To make sure my information is protected,
- 3:40Speaker 12: I checked out CISA's Secure Our World resources. They've got
- 3:44Speaker 12: four simple ways we can stay safe online. First, learn
- 3:47Speaker 12: to recognize and report phishing. Next, create a strong, unique
- 3:52Speaker 12: password for each online account. And use a password manager
- 3:55Speaker 12: if you can. Then turn on multi-factor authentication for extra
- 3:59Speaker 12: security and you'll receive a code when logging in. And finally,
- 4:03Speaker 12: turn on automatic software updates for convenience and safety. Click
- 4:08Speaker 12: here to track my delivery. Another phishing message. But now
- 4:12Speaker 12: I know how to protect.
- 4:13Speaker 6: Myself from scammers.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Welcome back to Comerica Park in Detroit. Jim Rosenhouse along
- 4:17Speaker 5: with you on Guardian's wrap-up following a 3-0 loss Detroit
- 4:21Speaker 5: victory today over the Guardians, and the Tigers would get
- 4:25Speaker 5: the only run.
- 4:25Speaker 2: They would need in this one in the third inning.
- 4:28Speaker 5: They loaded the bases with nobody out against Parker Messick.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Dylan Dingler grounded out to the third baseman with a
- 4:34Speaker 5: run scoring on the play, and that was it. Messick
- 4:37Speaker 5: struck out the next two to keep damage to a minimum,
- 4:41Speaker 5: but the Guardians couldn't get anything going offensively against Cater Montero.
- 4:45Speaker 5: And in the sixth inning, Eduardo Valencia... The designated hitter
- 4:50Speaker 5: up from Toledo not too long ago. He hammered his
- 4:53Speaker 5: fifth home run of the year into the stands and left.
- 4:56Speaker 5: And that made it a 2-0 Tiger lead. And Detroit
- 4:59Speaker 5: added one more insurance run in the eighth inning. This
- 5:02Speaker 5: time Spencer Torkelson with an RBI single to make it 3-0.
- 5:06Speaker 5: And that was the final score. Tigers, three runs, six hits,
- 5:09Speaker 5: one error. Seven men left on base. For the Guardians,
- 5:12Speaker 5: no runs, four base hits, one error. And Cleveland stranded
- 5:16Speaker 5: five base runners. The winning pitcher, Cater Montero, now 9-7.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Kenley Jansen with save number 15. Parker Messick takes the loss,
- 5:24Speaker 5: falling to 9-7. Time of the game, 2 hours, 24 minutes.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Paid crowd, 31,777. Stay with us. We'll hear from manager
- 5:31Speaker 5: Steven Vogt next. Sound familiar?

- 7:41Speaker 5: The Guardians shut out today by the Tigers 3-0 as
- 7:45Speaker 5: Detroit takes two out of three in this key AL
- 7:49Speaker 5: Central showdown here in the Motor City. Let's head downstairs
- 7:53Speaker 5: and hear the postgame comments of manager Steven Vogt.
- 7:56Speaker 6: Great.
- 7:56Speaker 15: I thought Parker pitched excellent, did his job, kept us
- 7:59Speaker 15: in the game for six-ish innings. Obviously, we just couldn't
- 8:04Speaker 15: get anything going versus Montero.
- 8:06Speaker 10: He was pretty good today.
- 8:08Speaker 15: Did the toy tell you anything about that hit my
- 8:10Speaker 15: pitcher by where that ball hit? No, it was one
- 8:12Speaker 15: of those things that that play rarely gets overturned.
- 8:16Speaker 10: And so it was.
- 8:18Speaker 2: My fault.
- 8:18Speaker 15: I didn't get my hand up to look, but at
- 8:19Speaker 15: the same time, that play rarely gets overturned. But again,
- 8:24Speaker 15: it happened.
- 8:26Speaker 2: What is it that stood out to you?
- 8:28Speaker 15: He didn't strike anybody out, but he was able to
- 8:30Speaker 15: keep guys off the..
- 8:31Speaker 6: Really good mix.
- 8:32Speaker 15: Really didn't get into any patterns. He had a really
- 8:35Speaker 15: good slider today. He was landing the curveball, good changeup,
- 8:37Speaker 15: and it seemed like he didn't throw the fastball over
- 8:40Speaker 15: the heart of the plate.
- 8:40Speaker 2: He pitched excellent.
- 8:41Speaker 15: I actually thought we hit some balls hard. I thought
- 8:44Speaker 15: we got some things going, but weren't able to really
- 8:47Speaker 15: get much going in any particular inning.
- 8:49Speaker 10: He threw a really good game.
- 8:50Speaker 15: Did you get an explanation on the Joe.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Adele play in first base?
- 8:55Speaker 10: No.
- 8:56Speaker 15: It kind of looked like from the replay when I
- 8:59Speaker 15: saw Torvison's left foot, I said right away at the time,
- 9:02Speaker 15: I think this is going to stand.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It's tough.
- 9:04Speaker 15: It's got to be clear and conclusive, so whatever the
- 9:06Speaker 15: call was on the field was probably going to stand there.
- 9:09Speaker 15: Talking about Jose hitting balls hard, I know it's out.
- 9:11Speaker 15: That last step bat, that foul ball, hitting that ball right,
- 9:14Speaker 15: does that make.
- 9:15Speaker 10: You feel like you're getting there?
- 9:16Speaker 15: You know, again, Jose's giving us everything he has every day, and,
- 9:20Speaker 15: you know, we just appreciate him going for it. And,
- 9:23Speaker 15: you know, he gives us everything he's got. And, again,
- 9:27Speaker 15: if one or two of these balls falls, no one's
- 9:29Speaker 15: talking about it. And I feel like his at-bats have
- 9:31Speaker 15: been good. He's just missing some balls, but that happens
- 9:34Speaker 15: to any hitter. uh but um you know i thought
- 9:37Speaker 15: for the most part it was really good to see
- 9:38Speaker 15: him turn on those two balls in his.
- 9:43Speaker 10: Last event our guys are showing up ready to win
- 9:49Speaker 10: every day and that's all we can do keep our
- 9:50Speaker 10: heads down keep working and show up ready to win
- 9:52Speaker 10: the winds are going.
- 9:53Speaker 15: To come uh we just we just have to stay
- 9:55Speaker 15: positive we can't allow any outside negativity to get into
- 9:57Speaker 15: our heads so for us it's uh stay positive, keep working,
- 10:01Speaker 15: and win games.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Well, with the loss today, the Guardians find themselves now
- 10:09Speaker 5: 59-63 on the season. They're a game and a half
- 10:12Speaker 5: back of the Tigers, who came into play three and
- 10:16Speaker 5: a half behind the White Sox, who are trailing their
- 10:18Speaker 5: game late in Chicago to the Reds by that score
- 10:23Speaker 5: of 9-5. Detroit now 60-61 on the season. Next up
- 10:28Speaker 5: for the Guardians, back home at Progressive Field tomorrow night.
- 10:31Speaker 5: They will take on the San Diego Padres with a
- 10:34Speaker 5: 7-10 first pitch. We'll have it for you starting with
- 10:37Speaker 5: the warm-up show at 6.35. I want to thank Al Rosenberg,
- 10:43Speaker 5: our on-site engineer here in Detroit. Also Brian Motze back
- 10:47Speaker 5: at Command Center. For Tom Hamilton, This is Jim Rosenhouse
- 10:51Speaker 5: reminding you the final score from Comerica Park in Detroit,

- 12:19Speaker 2: Kopp on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So keep that in mind.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Beatrice Kopp from 5 to 6 tonight. And after that,
- 12:28Speaker 2: we will have Money Talks with John Arnold from 6
- 12:31Speaker 2: to 7, as we normally do here on this Thursday
- 12:35Speaker 2: on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So keep that in mind. We'll
- 12:39Speaker 2: be talking with State Rep. Dave Thomas. He'll be calling
- 12:43Speaker 2: into the program and seeing what's going on as far
- 12:46Speaker 2: as the state is concerned with any number of issues
- 12:50Speaker 2: when it comes to electricity and more. That should be
- 12:53Speaker 2: coming up as well. So Dave Thomas will be joining us,
- 12:57Speaker 2: the hardest working state rep around. David, are you there?
- 13:00Speaker 16: Hey, Ron, how are you? I am well.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And Dave Thomas is calling us from?
- 13:04Speaker 16: The Ashtabula County Fair.
- 13:08Speaker 2: All right. Enjoying a bucket of fries, I take it?
- 13:11Speaker 16: Yeah, fries, gyros, had a stromboli, milkshakes tonight. So it's
- 13:18Speaker 16: been a good day.
- 13:19Speaker 10: All right.
- 13:20Speaker 2: You can't have a bad day when you're at a
- 13:21Speaker 2: county fair, can you? Oh, no.
- 13:23Speaker 16: No, especially our Republican booth is right along the midway,
- 13:27Speaker 16: and folks are stopping by. We're having lots of conversations.
- 13:31Speaker 16: It's been really nice.
- 13:32Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about what's going on as far
- 13:34Speaker 2: as the state is concerned these days and what some
- 13:38Speaker 2: of the latest developments are that people should know about
- 13:41Speaker 2: when it comes to property taxes, when it comes to electricity,
- 13:45Speaker 2: when it comes to our life and making it better, David.
- 13:51Speaker 16: There's a lot going on. We're on recess, so the
- 13:54Speaker 16: legislature itself isn't actually meeting or voting, but there's still
- 13:57Speaker 16: kind of a lot happening. A lot of the stuff
- 13:59Speaker 16: that we did is now kind of coming into effect.
- 14:02Speaker 16: So I know, for example, like in Trumbull and Mahoning,
- 14:05Speaker 16: those second-half tax bills are delayed. Folks will still get
- 14:09Speaker 16: them at some point. I always joke with people, though,
- 14:12Speaker 16: you should never be upset when your tax bill gets
- 14:14Speaker 16: delayed because that means that you can actually keep your
- 14:16Speaker 16: money longer. That's a good thing.
- 14:18Speaker 2: All right. Why are they delayed?
- 14:21Speaker 16: They're delayed because of our House Bill 186. that second
- 14:26Speaker 16: half decrease, a vast majority of your listeners will see
- 14:30Speaker 16: a decrease on their tax bill for the second half.
- 14:33Speaker 16: We did it midway through the year, which we knew
- 14:35Speaker 16: would be a little bit difficult to do. It's a
- 14:38Speaker 16: lot of different numbers. It's a lot of calculations. So
- 14:42Speaker 16: a lot of counties did have delays and Tremble and
- 14:45Speaker 16: Mahoning are one of them. But this just means that
- 14:48Speaker 16: a majority will actually see cuts and decreases. We're actually
- 14:51Speaker 16: getting folks coming up to the booth saying, you know,
- 14:53Speaker 16: thank you, or just asking a little more about why
- 14:55Speaker 16: their bill was lower.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And now explain to our listeners why it would be lower,
- 15:00Speaker 2: what they've got to refigure. What's going on?
- 15:02Speaker 16: So this is the difference between what you've been paying
- 15:05Speaker 16: to your school versus an inflationary cap that's now put
- 15:10Speaker 16: in place. So, you know, folks are also seeing new
- 15:13Speaker 16: values coming out. And in the last revaluation, you may
- 15:16Speaker 16: have seen a 30%, a 35% increase in your tax bill,
- 15:20Speaker 16: but most of that going to your public school. We've
- 15:23Speaker 16: now capped that increase to your public school to inflation.
- 15:27Speaker 16: And the difference between what you were paying, maybe a 35% increase,
- 15:31Speaker 16: versus inflation over the last three years being an 8% increase,
- 15:35Speaker 16: that difference is what your second half bill will actually
- 15:38Speaker 16: be decreasing by. So, for example, my second half bill
- 15:42Speaker 16: was cut by 13%. That was the difference for me.
- 15:45Speaker 16: Some folks, we've seen bills lowered as much as almost $ 900. 00.
- 15:51Speaker 16: And we've seen some bills only lower maybe $ 50 to $ 100.
- 15:54Speaker 16: It kind of depends on how much you increase, what
- 15:57Speaker 16: your value is, how much you pay. But most Ohioans
- 16:00Speaker 16: are actually going to see, especially Mahoning and Trumbull, cuts
- 16:03Speaker 16: in their second half.
- 16:05Speaker 2: And this is all because of tying the property re-evaluation
- 16:10Speaker 2: increases to the rate of inflation, not this 25% number.
- 16:16Speaker 16: Yes, the values will still go. Values will be whatever
- 16:19Speaker 16: the market is. So your value will still go up
- 16:21Speaker 16: maybe 25, 30%. But what we've done is separate out
- 16:25Speaker 16: your value increase and your tax increase. So your tax side,
- 16:30Speaker 16: that's cap to inflation. It's the value piece that can
- 16:33Speaker 16: still move with the real estate market, but no longer
- 16:36Speaker 16: just because your value went up by 35%, will your
- 16:39Speaker 16: bill go up by that much or close to it either.
- 16:44Speaker 16: We wanted to actually start cuts in bills because what
- 16:47Speaker 16: people are paying now obviously is too much from their
- 16:50Speaker 16: last revaluation. We started those cuts in the second half
- 16:53Speaker 16: of this year.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 16:57Speaker 16: That's why the delays, it's a lot to compute. You know, Ralph.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Stand by for me. Stand by. State Rep Dave Thomas
- 17:04Speaker 2: on the inline from the fair in Ashtabula. Back after this.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Stay tuned.
- 17:09Speaker 10: Hey, that's one nice new.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Bike, Josie.
- 17:11Speaker 13: Yeah, birthday present.
- 17:12Speaker 12: Rides really smooth, too.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Oh, and I see.
- 17:15Speaker 2: You finally got a new helmet. I did.
- 17:18Speaker 15: Bought it cheap online.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Love those side wings.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Hey, are you hungry? Yeah, I'm starving.
- 17:27Speaker 9: And need some water too. Okay, follow me.
- 17:30Speaker 15: We'll turn off here.
