- 0:00Speaker 1: Football and four powered by the Inside the Birds podcasts
- 0:03Speaker 1: Inside the Birds dot Com. In Day two of joint
- 0:06Speaker 1: practices is done and Adam Kaplum is on the ground
- 0:10Speaker 1: in the place and it's gonna tell us the latest
- 0:13Speaker 1: from joint practices with the Patriots today. A lot of
- 0:18Speaker 1: extracurriculars on the fields today. See Kwon Barkley was pretty
- 0:24Speaker 1: mad about that. Actually, he did not like it at all.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Joy Maya Alta said there was too much boxing nine
- 0:31Speaker 1: of football today and Adam kaplan is back with us
- 0:34Speaker 1: for football on four power by the Inside the Birds
- 0:37Speaker 1: podcast like subscribing Dell and where we get your podcasts, Adam,
- 0:40Speaker 1: how's it going good? Yeah?
- 0:43Speaker 2: What it was, Josh. There was some pushing and it
- 0:47Speaker 2: was a little it was actually a little bit hotter today,
- 0:50Speaker 2: a little bit more humid. So yeah, when it happens,
- 0:53Speaker 2: tepparth flair a little bit, it's totally understandable. It's funny.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I was talking about when the Patriots who said that
- 1:00Speaker 2: you can't do this, He's like, we did real well yesterday.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We don't need to have it. We don't that's so show.
- 1:05Speaker 2: We need to actually practice again like this. But they did.
- 1:08Speaker 2: It was a little bit shorter today. By the way,
- 1:10Speaker 2: the Eagles individual period was actually on their own on
- 1:15Speaker 2: a on a lower field, so they didn't really get
- 1:18Speaker 2: to start with a joint part of it until twenty
- 1:20Speaker 2: minutes in, and they actually had a like ten to
- 1:22Speaker 2: fifteen minutes early. But at Chris practice it was more
- 1:27Speaker 2: situational red zone goal line. Hollywood Brown was the start
- 1:33Speaker 2: of their passing game. In terms of the receivers, Eagles
- 1:35Speaker 2: were down a lot of a lot of receivers day.
- 1:37Speaker 2: They were down four or five of them rest and injuries,
- 1:40Speaker 2: so Hollywood Brown had to be the manadate. He had
- 1:42Speaker 2: a good day. Started number thirteen. Dontavian Whips.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Give me hit on a Hollywood Brown for a minute, quick, guy,
- 1:50Speaker 1: because you know, this is a guy who they gave
- 1:52Speaker 1: five million dollars to and he is somebody who people
- 1:57Speaker 1: thought coming in who could have a role in this offense.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So it feels like, you know, maybe today was the
- 2:03Speaker 1: day that he you know, for lack of a better term,
- 2:05Speaker 1: saved his role in the offense.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Well, look, he's gonna be on the team. They don't
- 2:10Speaker 2: they guarantee the five million Josh, oh, he's gonna be here.
- 2:13Speaker 2: But the thing that we don't understand is why they
- 2:17Speaker 2: don't throw the ball down field to him like Qus Watkins. Okay,
- 2:20Speaker 2: he's had a get a couple of nine routes the
- 2:22Speaker 2: last couple of days. So now Elijah Moore, there was
- 2:26Speaker 2: a little bit of a bus that covered yesterday and
- 2:28Speaker 2: the Moore caught it. Hearts hit him. It's wide open
- 2:31Speaker 2: hit him. But yeah, I don't know, but it was
- 2:34Speaker 2: interesting because Johnny Wilson, Johnny Wilson, stop practicing. Lemon's not practicing,
- 2:40Speaker 2: Smidty's not practicing. Rogimore got the day off today, so
- 2:45Speaker 2: you're you're running out of guys. And the one veteran
- 2:48Speaker 2: they had in addition to Wicks was Hollywood Brown, and
- 2:52Speaker 2: he hurts had a beautiful pass from from the fifteen
- 2:56Speaker 2: yard line. He just absolutely rifled throw the cornerbacks. The
- 3:03Speaker 2: cornerback didn't see it because he had his back turned
- 3:05Speaker 2: to it and he saw what the leverage was and
- 3:08Speaker 2: a great concentration for Hollywood Brown to get his feed
- 3:11Speaker 2: in right, or you would have hit the golfpost like
- 3:14Speaker 2: it was a tighter. The only way you could hit
- 3:16Speaker 2: him is it actually had to be perfect with no chance.
- 3:18Speaker 2: So yeah, Hollywood Brown is very active today, no doubt today.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Jordan Mailata yesterday Lean Johnson both made comments Adam about
- 3:26Speaker 1: how the offensive line, you know, basically needs to clean
- 3:29Speaker 1: things up a little bit more to help the offense
- 3:32Speaker 1: stay on times, stay on track. Was that something that
- 3:35Speaker 1: you've observed the last two days that you know, the
- 3:38Speaker 1: offensive line has kind of led to maybe some of
- 3:40Speaker 1: the inaccuracies on the offense.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say the run blocking for the most part,
- 3:46Speaker 2: was really good yesterday. But passpro they gave up pressures,
- 3:50Speaker 2: no doubt. Now again, you can't hit the quarterbacks, so
- 3:54Speaker 2: they don't. They they rarely blow place dead because they
- 3:59Speaker 2: let they they let the plate go through because if
- 4:02Speaker 2: you call the play dead, you will not be as
- 4:05Speaker 2: much offense because you want you want to progress. But yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I understand what those guys are saying. I totally get that.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But good work for the backups. The backups got plenty
- 4:14Speaker 2: of work starters who obviously not going to play in
- 4:18Speaker 2: the preseason. And and look we're two days out. By
- 4:23Speaker 2: the way, the game is Saturday night. Uh, and they
- 4:25Speaker 2: don't have to travel very far. I was told Eagles
- 4:27Speaker 2: to stay like two miles away, so uh, yeah, it
- 4:31Speaker 2: was it was talking to them. It was they felt
- 4:33Speaker 2: like overall they got really good work. Uh tell me
- 4:36Speaker 2: the Patriots, they felt that they got really good work.
- 4:38Speaker 2: And they look, they know Sirianni. They they they've had
- 4:42Speaker 2: work with him before, so they know it and it's
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's good stuff. And uh, yesterday is a little bit
- 4:48Speaker 2: I would say it was a little bit humble, humbling
- 4:49Speaker 2: for their secondary Josh, I should say, but they really
- 4:52Speaker 2: bounced back much better today.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Adam gappl enjoining us live from Foxborough, where the Eagles
- 4:57Speaker 1: finished day two of joint practice during this year for
- 5:00Speaker 1: football and for powered by the Inside the Birds podcast
- 5:02Speaker 1: Inside the Birds dot Com Josh Any Filly for Mike
- 5:05Speaker 1: Gill on a Thursday edition of The Bash on nice
- 5:07Speaker 1: of a three ESPN, Adam, before we moved to the defense,
- 5:13Speaker 1: were there any other big takeaways or any other highlights
- 5:16Speaker 1: that you had from day two joint practices for the offense.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Offensively, Will Shipley continues to look good. He's he's had
- 5:26Speaker 2: a really good two days. I like the screen game.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I'm pleasantly surprised, but as we really say, we can't
- 5:33Speaker 2: promise you anything we learned. What's the Jashuart Swift situation
- 5:38Speaker 2: three years. It's all what you see is maybe not
- 5:40Speaker 2: what you get. That's exactly what happened. Swift was used
- 5:43Speaker 2: a ton in the in training camp practices, and then
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'm not being used at all pretty much in the
- 5:49Speaker 2: screen game or the passing game. So but Chipley's coming on.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Oh by the way, Shipley, Shipley looks like he's gonna
- 5:57Speaker 2: have a real shot to do their kickoff attorney. He's
- 5:59Speaker 2: got a lot of work as they're kickoff returning in
- 6:01Speaker 2: these practices.
- 6:02Speaker 1: That's an interesting development to keep an eye on Adam
- 6:05Speaker 1: putting over to the defense. You know, obviously there's a
- 6:09Speaker 1: bit a lot of talk on social media, but AJ
- 6:12Speaker 1: Brown versus the Burrs defense, So what was Day two
- 6:15Speaker 1: like in that matchup?
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they did better against some AJ abuse them yesterday.
- 6:21Speaker 2: There's no questions heat And it's funny. I'm told that
- 6:26Speaker 2: the Patriots absolutely did not game plan. They didn't try
- 6:29Speaker 2: to go after Woolan. They just they rather offense like
- 6:31Speaker 2: they normally would in any practice, and they just had
- 6:36Speaker 2: tremendous success a against Wolan and over the middle. Be
- 6:41Speaker 2: it what you want now, because they didn't do a
- 6:43Speaker 2: lot of full team stuff like did yesterday. You didn't
- 6:46Speaker 2: feel a lot of that today, so it was a
- 6:48Speaker 2: little bit different. But the secondary is better, no doubt.
- 6:52Speaker 2: There was a play like we don't get the you know,
- 6:56Speaker 2: you can't go bout with your eyes show you. There
- 6:58Speaker 2: was one play where Wollan had really good coverage. Drake
- 7:01Speaker 2: May kind of threw it for two defenders and one
- 7:04Speaker 2: of them was Wolling. Well, I don't think Waling sail
- 7:06Speaker 2: the ball and Romeo Dobbs kept his feed and I
- 7:09Speaker 2: don't know how he did it. It was a great
- 7:10Speaker 2: bro no though they I thought they readout it much
- 7:13Speaker 2: better today. But again not a lot of full team stuff.
- 7:16Speaker 2: They didn't do a lot of that today.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Can you tell us anything about the edge, guys, because
- 7:20Speaker 1: that's obviously a position of a lot of curiosity because
- 7:23Speaker 1: with no Grenard, right, you know, we don't know what
- 7:26Speaker 1: exactly that position is gonna look like.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Week one, Yeah, Hunt Hunts had a good two days.
- 7:33Speaker 2: You've seen Nolan Smith. He's healthy, so that's a really
- 7:36Speaker 2: good thing. We were seeing number fifty seven aj Fanessa,
- 7:42Speaker 2: who's learning how to drop in the coverage. It's been
- 7:44Speaker 2: a struggle for him, but it's only he can't do it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: He's just not gonna have to do it before. So
- 7:49Speaker 2: he's learning on it. You know, there's no question it's
- 7:51Speaker 2: it's it's a challenge for him. But this is what
- 7:54Speaker 2: Vic does and and the guys know it. And followed
- 7:58Speaker 2: Jaysutt had a pick you pick where the ball was
- 8:02Speaker 2: going to hit the ground. It was just deflected and
- 8:04Speaker 2: he got it. It wasn't like he read it the defense.
- 8:05Speaker 2: He just happened to ball popped up and he on
- 8:07Speaker 2: he do for it and got it. It's it's gonna
- 8:12Speaker 2: be interesting, Josh. Before we get out of here, just
- 8:14Speaker 2: to just you know, I post this question to Andrew
- 8:17Speaker 2: on a show that we did yesterday because Jeremiah Trott
- 8:22Speaker 2: Junior has been so good. We understand Vick does not
- 8:25Speaker 2: rotatoes linebackers, but is there scenario where maybe situationally, maybe
- 8:30Speaker 2: Trotter comes in for Campbell in certain situations. We haven't
- 8:35Speaker 2: seen that yet. But Campbell, by the ways, he's played
- 8:38Speaker 2: with the twos like he in uh in the in
- 8:42Speaker 2: the red zone. Yet yesterday he played with the twos.
- 8:45Speaker 2: They just they they started to mix and match guys.
- 8:49Speaker 2: So yeah, and we know Vic doesn't do this, but
- 8:53Speaker 2: trot Junior has been so good he's there's no competition.
- 8:57Speaker 2: He's the number three linebacker, and he has been cross
- 8:59Speaker 2: trained the will and the and the mic in their
- 9:02Speaker 2: in their scheme, you could do either. He's just a
- 9:04Speaker 2: really good football player. Well, unfortunately, because Vic doesn't like
- 9:08Speaker 2: to rotate his guys talk, I played very much on defense.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I think that leads into the question, Adam, And it
- 9:15Speaker 1: may seem like a very simple answer, but I know
- 9:17Speaker 1: there's people who are listening on the audience right now.
- 9:20Speaker 1: They might be asking, well, Trotter Junior is playing so well,
- 9:24Speaker 1: is there a chance he could be linebacker number two?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Is the linebacker number three?
- 9:28Speaker 2: No? No, no, no, they're not. No. Oh, it's funny.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Definitely not. But this is what I would tell you.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Goes for just about anyone. If Vic doesn't like what
- 9:42Speaker 2: he's seeing of it the starting unit in season, he'll
- 9:46Speaker 2: make a change. Like I was telling Andrew and I
- 9:49Speaker 2: at lunch today. If Tree Wallen is not playing well, Hello,
- 9:54Speaker 2: Cooper Degene pack a corner. He doesn't want to do that,
- 9:57Speaker 2: but Vic doesn't care. It's whatever it's best for the
- 9:59Speaker 2: football team. He doesn't care about hard feelings, you know, yep,
- 10:03Speaker 2: and that's just that's it. I mean, that's look, he
- 10:07Speaker 2: didn't and we told our picture on people this year
- 10:09Speaker 2: and a half ago. We had heard like our belief
- 10:13Speaker 2: was that Vic didn't see Koop as a full time
- 10:17Speaker 2: corner long term. And that's probably true. But at the
- 10:20Speaker 2: same time, you gotta win football games, and they are
- 10:23Speaker 2: not deep a corner. I gotta tell you, John and
- 10:26Speaker 2: Jones is hurt. He didn't practice, he wasn't even in uniform.
- 10:28Speaker 2: He wasn't he didn't even have a helmet. So he's
- 10:32Speaker 2: got a shoulder injury. He's a thirty three year old corner.
- 10:35Speaker 2: They don't have a fourth corner right now. They have
- 10:37Speaker 2: no idea who the fourth corner is. Like that's it's
- 10:41Speaker 2: not mac mcwiams, not Corn Bennett has hurt. They don't
- 10:45Speaker 2: know who that is. So that's a position to watch
- 10:48Speaker 2: out see if they make a move there.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Well, I think that's where the curiosity is, Adam, Before
- 10:52Speaker 1: I let you go, it's August twentieth. Historically, there's been
- 10:57Speaker 1: many seasons where Harriet Rosen makes a move before the
- 11:02Speaker 1: start of the season. I have my mind always goes
- 11:03Speaker 1: back to C. J. Garter Johnson Roald Darby are just
- 11:06Speaker 1: a couple, so are we? Are we in prime? How
- 11:10Speaker 1: we make transition acquisition territory here?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Definitely, there's no question they got it now. It doesn't
- 11:20Speaker 2: have to be a huge mob of a corner because
- 11:22Speaker 2: they're ready in who's starting or you know, definitely, the
- 11:27Speaker 2: offensive line of guard is not very good. I think
- 11:29Speaker 2: that that was one of our pre training could pre
- 11:32Speaker 2: training camp questions. It's still as I answered itself, that's
- 11:35Speaker 2: why they turn, That's why they've cross trained Drew Kendall
- 11:38Speaker 2: with Dad Pete. I believe I saw practice today. A
- 11:41Speaker 2: former offensive guard in the NFL and center for the
- 11:45Speaker 2: Chats and Patriots. Uh yeah, Jet, look Josh how he
- 11:50Speaker 2: is very aggressive. He likes making trades. He's you know,
- 11:55Speaker 2: he's made the most trades in the NFL since he
- 11:57Speaker 2: became general managers. So I don't see that. Chamesn to
- 12:00Speaker 2: be honest with you.
- 12:01Speaker 1: For more coverage on the Eagles, you got the Inside
- 12:04Speaker 1: the Birds podcast like subscribing Dello wherever you get your podcasts.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Kaplan NFL on the x platform and on Instagram as well.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And of course Adam will be back with us next
- 12:15Speaker 1: week tomorrow. We'll hear from Angel to checka who Adam
- 12:17Speaker 1: Mention has been with him all week up there in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Adam gray stuff today, all Man, thank you,
