- 0:00Speaker 1: We're going to fly out on Sunday to the United
- 0:03Speaker 1: States for the next tour. Oh nice, nice tomorrow, and
- 0:07Speaker 1: the day after we're going to rehearse in and pre
- 0:10Speaker 1: produce in France. So it's kind of kind of a trip.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Things are good so far. I mean, the vibe in
- 0:16Speaker 1: the band is fantastic. We are We're playing I think
- 0:20Speaker 1: eighty two hundred shows this year with the band, so
- 0:23Speaker 1: it's it's quite exciting. And we're playing shows some places
- 0:27Speaker 1: we barely visit or never visited before, like the Australian
- 0:31Speaker 1: and New Zealand tour. There are some spots we never
- 0:33Speaker 1: visited before. We're doing a long, very long Asian run. Yeah,
- 0:39Speaker 1: just to China, to India, Japan, Mongolia, Armenia, Georgia and
- 0:45Speaker 1: definitely places you don't visit occasionally.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that he's going to all the obscure flights,
- 0:51Speaker 3: isn't it. So Yeah, So what can our fans expect
- 0:56Speaker 3: to say when you guys do your tour and your show,
- 0:59Speaker 3: anything exciting for them to look forward to?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah? Absolutely always. We've been two times in Australia so far.
- 1:10Speaker 1: First time, I think, if I'm not mistaken, it was
- 1:13Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, and that was with Alarum, only a handful
- 1:19Speaker 1: of shows, but it was a really cool start. And
- 1:22Speaker 1: a few years ago twenty twenty three, we played a
- 1:27Speaker 1: festival right on one side show, but there was quite brutal.
- 1:32Speaker 1: The show was fantastic and people have been super cool
- 1:35Speaker 1: to us. Ye, very welcome, but we've been I think
- 1:38Speaker 1: less than forty eight hours in the country, so that
- 1:41Speaker 1: was super brutal. So what are we're going to do
- 1:42Speaker 1: with SAST is We're playing eleven shows in total in
- 1:48Speaker 1: New Zealand and that's not very common for international bands
- 1:52Speaker 1: flying on.
- 1:53Speaker 2: That's a lot.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Like my shows, Yeah, that's a lot. And finally we
- 1:57Speaker 1: have some time to visit the country, so there are
- 1:59Speaker 1: some days off in between. And I talked to a
- 2:04Speaker 1: couple of other magazines today and yesterday and told me, like,
- 2:09Speaker 1: shows in Darwin and Hoboard are absolutely.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Not common, and yeah, yeah, they kind of be sat
- 2:17Speaker 3: Darwin and Darwin and definitely tazzy and it's yeah, it
- 2:22Speaker 3: makes it a bit a bit hard, but I guess
- 2:24Speaker 3: it's just getting there. It's and the numbers as well,
- 2:27Speaker 3: so obviously all the capitals and were any regional towns
- 2:31Speaker 3: in between as well.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I imagine there would be a couple.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah, there are a few, and uh, it's basically across
- 2:39Speaker 1: the country. Yeah, and that was the whole intention. So
- 2:42Speaker 1: Shreadfast is a is a traveling festival. They have five
- 2:44Speaker 1: bands every night. Yeah, and we are not only playing
- 2:48Speaker 1: like two or three shows. It's like for Australian UH standards,
- 2:53Speaker 1: this is quite a lot what we're doing. And you
- 2:56Speaker 1: have two international bands with US Obscura and Fallujah from
- 3:00Speaker 1: the United States, plus two Australian bands Ashen and Anoxille,
- 3:04Speaker 1: plus which is very important. There are special guests invited
- 3:08Speaker 1: every day or every show was so to say, and
- 3:11Speaker 1: the whole idea of Shreadfast is to play a show
- 3:16Speaker 1: that is somehow benefiting all bands. So first to last
- 3:19Speaker 1: it should sound good, look good. They are no restrictions
- 3:22Speaker 1: on any kind of production. And it's like a it's
- 3:26Speaker 1: like a blue pause for all kinds of extreme metal.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So we have the more orthodox kind of kind of
- 3:32Speaker 1: death metal what Ashan is playing. You have the more
- 3:35Speaker 1: proggy end with Falujah. You have Us which is more
- 3:39Speaker 1: techy or melodic, whatever you call it. Yeah. Not the
- 3:43Speaker 1: whole idea is bringing people who listen to extreme metal
- 3:47Speaker 1: to the shows. They should have just a wonderful day,
- 3:50Speaker 1: bring their friends and go with a big smile home. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 1: this is the whole idea. It's very simple, but it's
- 3:55Speaker 1: just about having a good.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Time for sure. Get out there and Trinida.
- 3:59Speaker 3: It's any metal, any metal fans biggest dream.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I think it so sounds like a great day.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So when you guys have when's your first when's the
- 4:08Speaker 3: first festival? When you come out here, when you fly
- 4:10Speaker 3: out to Australia, I.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Think we're we're leaving Germany first off September. Then we
- 4:17Speaker 1: might have one day to beat this jet lag and.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Then it starts. Yeah, it gets a bit much, doesn't it.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Sorry, So later in the year and he's got some
- 4:26Speaker 3: new music that has come out as well.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 4:30Speaker 1: We just released the recent o around a year ago
- 4:33Speaker 1: that is called a Conunication and Shrefforst is part of
- 4:36Speaker 1: this touring cycle and we're going to tour twenty twenty
- 4:40Speaker 1: five until twenty twenty eight by this action. But we're
- 4:45Speaker 1: also recording. This is this is something special. We're recording
- 4:48Speaker 1: every show. We have our setup plus some audience wikes
- 4:53Speaker 1: and depending how First of all, how good the plane
- 4:56Speaker 1: band is playing. Not every day is perfect, but trys
- 5:00Speaker 1: and how loud the audience is depends on. This might
- 5:04Speaker 1: be released as a live record at some point, So
- 5:07Speaker 1: nice everyone passing by, just keep that in mind. Have
- 5:12Speaker 1: good time. You're on the next on the next live album.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It's always exciting for your fans, so I think they
- 5:19Speaker 3: can be a part of that, which is nice to
- 5:20Speaker 3: do sometimes. Yeah, so that's going to be it's a
- 5:24Speaker 3: long time touring, so you guys are going to be
- 5:26Speaker 3: well and truly ready for a rest after that.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Hopefully you survive. It's a long time.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, So it's very exciting, you know, if you feel
- 5:38Speaker 1: like what you're doing it's not. It's not like a
- 5:40Speaker 1: burden or something. I love traveling, playing live. I love
- 5:44Speaker 1: visiting different places and meeting people, and this is this
- 5:47Speaker 1: is what's it all about.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah, No, that's it. Do you get to get to
- 5:52Speaker 3: do what you love and get paid for it. It's
- 5:54Speaker 3: not really working, is it. It can be times, especially
- 5:59Speaker 3: when you you've got to hope that you've got a
- 6:01Speaker 3: good relationship with our see band members and that you're
- 6:03Speaker 3: a pretty pretty close to the disasters to have a
- 6:08Speaker 3: few breakups in between. You're taking a therapist with you
- 6:11Speaker 3: along as well.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We might need it afterwards, you reckon afterwards, I just
- 6:18Speaker 1: need a bed, you see that already?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's sleep deprived.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I know it's it's the rock and roll lifestyle, isn't
- 6:26Speaker 3: it just betting the candle of both ends.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It's been a.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Big, big week of a lot of work for us
- 6:31Speaker 3: as well here and Will myself anyway of just covering things.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And I'm Wednesday and I'm feeling wrecked already. I'm just like, oh,
- 6:38Speaker 3: I canna have an early night for sure.
- 6:42Speaker 1: In Australia these days, it just saw so many announcements
- 6:45Speaker 1: because I'm diving into the venues where we're playing.
- 6:50Speaker 3: We don't like, wait, my roster's fall like you know,
- 6:54Speaker 3: so lean up to Christmas last year was just I
- 6:57Speaker 3: was double book triple booked, and it seems so rolled
- 7:00Speaker 3: on And I think one thing I've noticed though, is
- 7:02Speaker 3: that since COVID and you know, we had that taken
- 7:05Speaker 3: away from us, that live music and being able to
- 7:07Speaker 3: go and experience that, we've really embraced it coming out
- 7:11Speaker 3: of that and now it's become part of very much,
- 7:15Speaker 3: you know how culture I guess you know, all types
- 7:17Speaker 3: of music lovers and there's always a show going on,
- 7:21Speaker 3: even if it's just something local or you know, a
- 7:23Speaker 3: bigger band that comes out. There's every week and through
- 7:27Speaker 3: the week as well. Like I got to an experience
- 7:30Speaker 3: Bohema for a death metal on a school night, which
- 7:33Speaker 3: was on a Wednesday night and which was, yeah, kind
- 7:35Speaker 3: of weird, but it was good, I mean, amazing show.
- 7:37Speaker 3: But yeah, so we definitely have packed our calendars full
- 7:42Speaker 3: over here.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Indeed.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean playing Australia has been doing well for demands.
- 7:49Speaker 1: If you feel welcome, of course you want to come back.
- 7:52Speaker 1: If there's a dedicated audience, of course you want to
- 7:55Speaker 1: come back. And if you get an invitation of people
- 7:58Speaker 1: you really like, you don't say no. You might get
- 8:02Speaker 1: many more shows.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's it.
- 8:04Speaker 3: That's it.
- 8:05Speaker 2: No, we are we embrace our bands that come out here.
- 8:08Speaker 2: We encourage it, we love it. And you know, they
- 8:10Speaker 2: they fall in love.
- 8:10Speaker 3: With the country, it seems to they, which is always
- 8:13Speaker 3: nice because they of course they.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Always like to return, which is what we want to say.
- 8:18Speaker 3: So yeah, so is it the first time you guys
- 8:20Speaker 3: were coming out we said you were briefly for short
- 8:24Speaker 3: stay over last time, so you get some experience. What
- 8:28Speaker 3: are you looking forward to doing when you come out here?
- 8:31Speaker 3: Anything specific?
- 8:33Speaker 1: The very first time we've been flying over, we did
- 8:35Speaker 1: all the touristy of things. Okay, we got our pictures
- 8:39Speaker 1: which the koalas with the kangaroos, so that's all done.
- 8:44Speaker 1: But I think Australia and also New Zealand they have
- 8:47Speaker 1: much more to offer than that. So we have some
- 8:49Speaker 1: days off and I really like to explore a little
- 8:54Speaker 1: bit more of every city. We heard them last time.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I figured a little bit, at least briefly. That is
- 9:00Speaker 1: also pretty much different. It's a different vibe, but it's
- 9:03Speaker 1: a different pace, like different in Sydney. Yeah, and of
- 9:09Speaker 1: course we visited the Opera House in Sydney. Yeah. I'd
- 9:13Speaker 1: like to get a little better impression of the live
- 9:18Speaker 1: and the people and everything down there. So I really
- 9:20Speaker 1: hope we get the chance to especially use the off
- 9:23Speaker 1: days to explore the city and if there's a chance
- 9:26Speaker 1: we see something countryside, it would be amazing.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
- 9:30Speaker 3: It's a pretty big, pretty big country we've got, and
- 9:33Speaker 3: it's quite diverse, you know, the parts of it. So
- 9:35Speaker 3: if you're going to Darwin and Tassi. They're two very different,
- 9:39Speaker 3: different you know, parts of the country that you'll get
- 9:43Speaker 3: to be hopefully impressed, not shocked. But yeah, no, they're
- 9:47Speaker 3: definitely very contrasting, which that's good.
- 9:50Speaker 2: It's a great way to say, see the.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Country and go and tour and do that and but yeah, no,
- 9:55Speaker 3: you're right. Every every capital city especially is very different.
- 9:59Speaker 3: You know, Perth different in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Brisbane's
- 10:03Speaker 3: my closest capital. I'm just down a bit further on
- 10:05Speaker 3: the Gold Course, so it's nice and sunny and between
- 10:09Speaker 3: the gold Course and bar and Bay, so I'm very
- 10:11Speaker 3: spoilt where I leave. It's very lovely part of the world.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah so, but yeah, I know the for the majority,
- 10:17Speaker 3: it's it's a pretty pretty nice place to be. We
- 10:21Speaker 3: we have lots to lots to see and do and
- 10:23Speaker 3: punny of a metal fans that love to be shredded,
- 10:26Speaker 3: so I'm sure.
- 10:26Speaker 2: They're going to be able.
- 10:27Speaker 3: They'll probably throw you a few tips out year as well.
- 10:29Speaker 3: A few things you can do to when you're over here,
- 10:32Speaker 3: you know, got some spare time or in the meantime
- 10:34Speaker 3: it might be one to put out for the fans.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Give us some ideas of things to do. You might
- 10:38Speaker 3: get some wild and waggy often.
- 10:41Speaker 1: We are happy, We are absolutely happy for any kind
- 10:44Speaker 1: of tip or as a gestion or any anything here
- 10:47Speaker 1: that you think, okay, we have to see in.
- 10:49Speaker 3: The city diving or something crazy. I wouldn't recommend it.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Didn't get through those pages, no way, I wouldn't do it,
- 11:00Speaker 3: no way. Yeah, No, there's definitely definitely what's to.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Say and come out here?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Sorry?
- 11:05Speaker 3: Yeah, so for yourselves, has been how long you been
- 11:08Speaker 3: doing a thing for now? What's the backstory where you
- 11:11Speaker 3: come from? And how have you got to where you
- 11:13Speaker 3: are now?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Well, the band is around in two thousand and two,
- 11:19Speaker 1: so right Obscurity since twenty four years late, and it's
- 11:25Speaker 1: been quite a wild and quite a right as well.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And every time we release our album we explore more countries.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And this is something I'm very proud of. It's wonderful
- 11:36Speaker 1: to put out music. It's really it's a gift that
- 11:41Speaker 1: there are so many people around the planet listening to
- 11:44Speaker 1: this kind of quite fairly extreme music. But people are
- 11:47Speaker 1: dedicated and support us, and this is the reason why
- 11:50Speaker 1: we get the chance to trouble abroad.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, since the very.
- 11:55Speaker 1: First time we played in Czech Republic. That was the
- 11:58Speaker 1: first time we played outside of Germany. Wow, I love it.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Every time we see something else, it's it's a pleasure.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And again, you meet people, you see different cultures, you're
- 12:09Speaker 1: you're a guest in a different country. Although you play,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and of course you good book to play, but I
- 12:14Speaker 1: still have this approach that we are guests and we
- 12:17Speaker 1: behave like guests.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Try to see as much as possible every time. Every
- 12:24Speaker 1: time we have a new tour, we try to play
- 12:26Speaker 1: not only capitals. Yes, yeah, that's Sydney is also wonderful.
- 12:32Speaker 1: But if you only play those places, you never see Perth,
- 12:36Speaker 1: you never see see Darwin or make it to a Tasmania.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And the same goes for all the Asian countries we
- 12:42Speaker 1: are going to play in in May and Latin America
- 12:46Speaker 1: we did two years ago, or the US tour. Just Sunday, Sunday,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I'm flying out as mentioned, and we play a couple
- 12:54Speaker 1: of smaller places we never visited before. And you just
- 13:00Speaker 1: if you if you really enjoy traveling, this is this
- 13:03Speaker 1: is perfect. And I'm not a wealthy family here, I'm
- 13:06Speaker 1: working since I'm six years old. How hard it is
- 13:11Speaker 1: to to make that.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Step to you know, yeah, because it does.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, this is something I love for other people. This
- 13:18Speaker 1: is like an extra burden you have to do. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: mean it's a very unstable lifestyle. Of course, rock and
- 13:25Speaker 1: roll it is what it is.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's absolutely not.
- 13:28Speaker 1: What you're doing. It's it's it's just beautiful.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It is.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You travel, you see different places.
- 13:34Speaker 3: This is this is a very the most fun you
- 13:37Speaker 3: can have with the clothes on sober is what I
- 13:39Speaker 3: like to say, Lenny get to plant stage and it's
- 13:42Speaker 3: I guess for yourself too, that's like kind of nice
- 13:43Speaker 3: to know that you can go to all those smaller
- 13:46Speaker 3: places and you've got that fan base that you can
- 13:48Speaker 3: put a show on. It's that are going to turn
- 13:51Speaker 3: up and buy tickets. That's that must be encouraging as well.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely. That's also the reason why we're back in Australia.
- 13:58Speaker 1: So yeah, every time you visit a new place, you
- 14:00Speaker 1: don't know what to expect. Yeah, but it turned out
- 14:03Speaker 1: to be really nice and we've heard a very welcome
- 14:06Speaker 1: band Cruel and everybody traveling with us. It's yeah, it's amazing.
- 14:11Speaker 1: That's how it should be.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, And it's nice to you know that
- 14:14Speaker 3: you've still got that open mind, you know, all these
- 14:16Speaker 3: years you've been doing it and still quite humble about it,
- 14:19Speaker 3: which is lovely to lovely to see. It's some music
- 14:22Speaker 3: always brings out the best humans, I say, anyway, so
- 14:25Speaker 3: we're all part of one BIG's family. I'm yet to
- 14:29Speaker 3: meet a not so lovable one yet. I think I've
- 14:32Speaker 3: been very lucky and very blessed.
- 14:33Speaker 2: But you know, I.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Also put out a pretty good attitude too, so I
- 14:36Speaker 3: think that helps as well. It's nice when it's reciprocated.
- 14:39Speaker 3: But yeah, that's but that's great that you have said
- 14:42Speaker 3: you can go to all those smaller places and be
- 14:45Speaker 3: well received.
- 14:46Speaker 2: It certainly makes it exciting.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And in Asia and Japan especially said you're going there.
- 14:50Speaker 3: They they die hard fans over there. They love the
- 14:53Speaker 3: metal and they lock in there. It's a lifestyle, it's
- 14:57Speaker 3: a commitment.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Everything, Everything that is demanding or virtu also on instruments
- 15:05Speaker 1: is very well received in Asia overall.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure, we'll look that's some
- 15:12Speaker 3: We're much looking forward to it. So in September you're
- 15:14Speaker 3: doing eleven shows when you come out to Australia. That's
- 15:18Speaker 3: definitely going to be definitely want to look forward to,
- 15:21Speaker 3: so I guess we'll probably be checking in again before then.
- 15:24Speaker 3: So you've got how many bands five on the bill?
- 15:27Speaker 2: Is there? Did you say.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Bands like for traveling bands most of the shows and
- 15:32Speaker 1: especially guests additional to areas nice if if everyone out
- 15:38Speaker 1: there want to do me a favorite, just come early,
- 15:41Speaker 1: visit and watch all the shows. Just hang out with
- 15:44Speaker 1: the friends, have a few drinks, and support all the
- 15:47Speaker 1: bands first or last.
- 15:48Speaker 2: That would be way to do it. Yeah, for sure, No,
- 15:52Speaker 2: that's so, that's definitely the way to do it.
- 15:53Speaker 3: So it's nice to check out that the support acts
- 15:55Speaker 3: and see who's new enough in coming in because you
- 15:57Speaker 3: can always be nicely surprised.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Some of them are pretty good.
- 16:00Speaker 3: They then your years ladies, see they're going to be
- 16:03Speaker 3: successful of their own and you get fans that go
- 16:06Speaker 3: remember when they supported such and such and I'm glad
- 16:09Speaker 3: that they were there to see it. So yes, it's
- 16:10Speaker 3: definitely definitely one to do. But yes, well, thank you
- 16:14Speaker 3: so much for coming and having a chat with us
- 16:16Speaker 3: today and happy and we'll definitely be checking in later
- 16:19Speaker 3: on and I'm sure we'll be covering more of Shred
- 16:22Speaker 3: first when it comes to light and the tour as well,
- 16:26Speaker 3: so
- 16:28Speaker 2: Thank you so much for your time and very much
- 16:30Speaker 2: look forward to it.
