Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / ITB Week 5 Postgame Show: Eagles Suffer Gut-Wrenching Last-Second Loss In London To Jaguars
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to the Inside the Birds postgame show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher. That's Adam Kaplan. I thought for a
- 0:16Speaker 1: long time watching this Eagles-Jaguars game in London that Adam
- 0:20Speaker 1: and I were going to have a really, you know,
- 0:23Speaker 1: just I guess a more energetic postgame show and talk
- 0:26Speaker 1: about this unbelievable effort that the Eagles put in to
- 0:29Speaker 1: gut out a win against all odds because they played
- 0:33Speaker 1: this game without a starters and then they lost more
- 0:35Speaker 1: starters and impact players to injuries. which is his own story.
- 0:40Speaker 1: But Adam, on a day where the Jaguars clearly spent
- 0:44Speaker 1: most of the day shooting themselves in the foot, making
- 0:48Speaker 1: terrible coaching decisions, it's somewhat ironic in a cruel way
- 0:53Speaker 1: that the worst decisions and the worst shooting in the
- 0:56Speaker 1: foot came for the Eagles in the final minute of
- 0:58Speaker 1: the game. And that's what led to them losing at
- 1:01Speaker 1: the buzzer on a Cam Little field goal, which was
- 1:04Speaker 1: not Little. It was a long field goal after a
- 1:07Speaker 1: huge loss Kick return. I mean, all the perfect storm
- 1:10Speaker 1: things that had the lead to it happened, and the
- 1:12Speaker 1: Eagles lose 19-17, third straight loss. Boy, this one was tough.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Were you at the Matt Bryant game?
- 1:20Speaker 1: It's amazing. You and I did not talk about this
- 1:22Speaker 1: before we started recording. For 10 minutes after this game,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I was trying to think, what is the most gut-wrenching
- 1:29Speaker 1: loss that I can ever remember or that is as
- 1:32Speaker 1: close to this? And that was the only one that
- 1:34Speaker 1: I could think of.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Do we know what year that was? 2006. I was there. Wow, 2006.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, 20 years ago. And almost in similar fashion where
- 1:44Speaker 1: you have a breakdown in that game, there was third
- 1:46Speaker 1: and seven on Tampa Bay's last drive, and Bruce Grabkowski
- 1:50Speaker 1: ran up the middle in a scramble for eight yards,
- 1:54Speaker 1: just totally freelancing, setting up the 61-yard field goal by
- 1:58Speaker 1: Matt Bryant after the Eagles had had a valiant comeback
- 2:01Speaker 1: in that game after being down early.
- 2:03Speaker 2: 23-21, they lost that game. Yeah, so all right. I
- 2:07Speaker 2: know it's going to be hard for Eagle fans to
- 2:09Speaker 2: find anything positive. There is actually a lot positive. You
- 2:12Speaker 2: mentioned the negative. One of the big ones is the injuries,
- 2:14Speaker 2: the special teams. The special teams unit was interesting because
- 2:17Speaker 2: Jake Elliott was fantastic in this game, did it again,
- 2:19Speaker 2: big field goal. Braden Mann was very good. He's the holder.
- 2:23Speaker 2: He's one of the best known in the special team
- 2:25Speaker 2: world as one of the best holders in the National
- 2:27Speaker 2: Football League. But Trott Jr. getting thrown out on the
- 2:30Speaker 2: opening kickoff. That one, I'm hurting them because he would
- 2:33Speaker 2: have been on coverage. Yep. So that hurt. Covey was
- 2:35Speaker 2: actually really good. He's a good punt returner. I mean,
- 2:38Speaker 2: he's also not a bad kickoff returner. You can call
- 2:41Speaker 2: him the human joystick. He gets the crap act out
- 2:43Speaker 2: of him or knocked down, but he's really good. It's
- 2:46Speaker 2: very good that they brought him on the active roster
- 2:48Speaker 2: very early. But my opening thoughts would be they have
- 2:53Speaker 2: a lot to be proud about. They could have just
- 2:56Speaker 2: quit this game. Down so many players. I've got my
- 3:01Speaker 2: list actually added to it. We'll go over offense when
- 3:03Speaker 2: we do the offense. I mean, you're down to a
- 3:05Speaker 2: four-string running back, okay? Damian Pierce. And Carson Steele would
- 3:10Speaker 2: have played if he got hurt. Carson Steele would be
- 3:12Speaker 2: the number five guy. He was active today, okay? As
- 3:15Speaker 2: we told you last Thursday and Friday, he'd be active.
- 3:18Speaker 2: He'd be the next guy in line, okay? Then Fred
- 3:22Speaker 2: Johnson's got to play guard. Yet they really should have
- 3:25Speaker 2: won the game, okay? You could point out, people want
- 3:29Speaker 2: to point out their second half woes. There's a reason
- 3:31Speaker 2: for it. We'll tell you what we know, what we hear,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and what we see. But the fact that they had
- 3:36Speaker 2: this game, that they didn't quit, all the excuses in
- 3:39Speaker 2: the world, worst injury situation they've had by far since
- 3:43Speaker 2: Sirianni's been here. They've been prior five seasons, top three
- 3:47Speaker 2: healthiest team in the National Football League by games missed
- 3:52Speaker 2: and minutes missed. But, man, this is just– it's hard
- 3:57Speaker 2: to win like this. It's funny. We all picked the
- 4:00Speaker 2: Eagles– We got it wrong. The game didn't go like
- 4:03Speaker 2: I thought it would. I thought the Jaguars would smoke them.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You could blame Liam Cohn. I guess, analytically, there were
- 4:10Speaker 2: some things he made correct, some he did not. Depending
- 4:13Speaker 2: on your point of view. I give the Eagles coaches
- 4:16Speaker 2: credit for all the Sirianni haters. You were wrong today.
- 4:18Speaker 2: He had them absolutely prepared. No question about it. They
- 4:22Speaker 2: were ready to roll there. They were in it, man.
- 4:24Speaker 2: With this roster to be in this game. Their defense
- 4:28Speaker 2: carried them. I know.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I get that.
- 4:30Speaker 2: They were in this game, but They've got some problems
- 4:32Speaker 2: with their personnel. Jod Campbell's just– we'll see what the
- 4:36Speaker 2: tape looks like. I'll be interested to see what that
- 4:38Speaker 2: looks like tomorrow.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yep.
- 4:40Speaker 2: But I just thought that Willie Lampkin and Jake Majors,
- 4:45Speaker 2: you're starting two undrafted free agents. They were phenomenal, considering. Oh,
- 4:51Speaker 2: all right.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I mean, listen. The team averaged one and a half
- 4:55Speaker 1: yards per carry. You're not– has protection. It was a
- 4:58Speaker 1: quick game. You've got to admit it was a quick game.
- 5:00Speaker 2: They did right, but again– Any deeper drop in the
- 5:03Speaker 2: first half and the second half, it started to be
- 5:05Speaker 2: a problem. You were telling me through text, it's kind
- 5:10Speaker 2: of like, what's Campanelli doing? Why aren't you blitzing more?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Why aren't you bringing the heat? Yes, but they were
- 5:17Speaker 2: prepared for this game.
- 5:19Speaker 1: That's fair. I agree with that.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Here's a stat that's unbelievable. I never would have believed this.
- 5:23Speaker 2: They did not have a penalty in the first half.
- 5:26Speaker 2: That tells you about preparation. That's hard to believe. That's
- 5:30Speaker 2: hard to believe. But here's the deal. The dam broke
- 5:33Speaker 2: in the second half, but yet they should have won
- 5:34Speaker 2: the game because it came down to a point. Was
- 5:38Speaker 2: the second half left? I mean, it's the Cam Little,
- 5:42Speaker 2: by the way, the Cam Little kick was phenomenal. And
- 5:44Speaker 2: one more note, the fans showed out there were more
- 5:47Speaker 2: Eagles fans than Jaguar fans. That was unbelievable. Kelsey pointed out,
- 5:51Speaker 2: because when Dave Pasch, the play-by-play voice, pointed it out, like,
- 5:54Speaker 2: what's the reason why the delay games? Easy. Listen, listen.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I know he's a homer, but listen. They outnumbered the
- 6:02Speaker 2: Jaguar fans. That's so embarrassing for shotgun ownership.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I was ready to come on this show before the
- 6:08Speaker 1: last 30 seconds of the game to say the Eagles
- 6:10Speaker 1: fans literally won the Eagles a game and helped them,
- 6:14Speaker 1: willed them over the adversity because the Jaguars could not
- 6:17Speaker 1: function in their most important drive when they got inside
- 6:20Speaker 1: the red zone there. I mean, there were penalties and
- 6:23Speaker 1: then penalties upon penalties. And I thought that that was
- 6:26Speaker 1: going to wind up being the game, but it didn't.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm going to do a little bit of a Lee Corso,
- 6:30Speaker 1: not so fast on you, my friend with Nick Sirianni,
- 6:34Speaker 1: because I agree with everything you said about him having
- 6:38Speaker 1: them prepared and went against all odds and seven and
- 6:41Speaker 1: a half point underdogs. Like the Eagles improved in areas
- 6:45Speaker 1: where they had been deficient. You're right. No, no penalty.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But he absolutely cost them the game on their first
- 6:55Speaker 1: on their field goal drive. You can't line up for
- 6:58Speaker 1: Jake Elliott's field goal with time on the clock. And
- 7:01Speaker 1: then the decision to kick off. After they had already
- 7:04Speaker 1: had a bad kickoff on the first kickoff of the game,
- 7:06Speaker 1: now they're fortunate there was a holding there, but there
- 7:08Speaker 1: were a lot of missed tackles, too. You don't have Trotter.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I just thought that, and even Nick admitted this, by
- 7:14Speaker 1: the way. He said it in his press conference. I
- 7:15Speaker 1: lost the game. It was a bad decision. I know
- 7:17Speaker 1: that there are times where it goes the other way,
- 7:20Speaker 1: and maybe I'm judging it in a vacuum, but I'm really,
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, Makai Lemon also going out of bounds on
- 7:26Speaker 1: that catch on second down, leaving time on the clock.
- 7:29Speaker 1: They just mismanaged the easier part of the game, which
- 7:33Speaker 1: is just making sure you're kicking a field goal with
- 7:35Speaker 1: no time left on the clock.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yes. You have to know that where the, I'll grant
- 7:39Speaker 2: you that. Absolutely. He's taking it, blaming himself because the
- 7:43Speaker 2: players played so hard. That's not why they lost. Okay.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It's their inability and embarrassment of the second half. That's
- 7:50Speaker 2: a major problem. I understand it was severely shorthanded. Whenever
- 7:55Speaker 2: they get players back, whenever the hell that's going to be,
- 7:56Speaker 2: because they have, this is, And you've covered this team
- 8:01Speaker 2: for almost three decades, okay? Right. In totality. I mean,
- 8:05Speaker 2: this is right up there with the injury situation. It's
- 8:08Speaker 2: both sides of the football. That's the problem now. It's
- 8:10Speaker 2: not just one side. Yeah. But it's too bad, man.
- 8:14Speaker 2: The fans, they outnumber the Jaguar fans. And to lose
- 8:18Speaker 2: this game the way that they did. Now, you're right.
- 8:20Speaker 2: You have to. Situational football. Nick's usually pretty good at that. Yes.
- 8:23Speaker 2: You've got to see where you're at with time left, okay?
- 8:27Speaker 2: And Makai Lemon, who had some nice catches in this game, okay?
- 8:29Speaker 2: And by the way, let's not forget, got it at
- 8:31Speaker 2: three drops. Well, he, too, definitely. The third is another story.
- 8:35Speaker 2: There was another drop, and Pierce dropped one on the sidelines.
- 8:38Speaker 2: That Hurts hung in there the best that he could
- 8:40Speaker 2: under duress in the second half. Cooper had another touchdown,
- 8:45Speaker 2: which is another positive. We'll get to the defense later.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But there are some things to build on. And, again,
- 8:50Speaker 2: Willie Lampkin and Jake– I know Majors had a couple
- 8:53Speaker 2: bad snaps in shotgun. I get that. that's going to
- 8:56Speaker 2: happen when you're not really getting any work, but Willie
- 8:59Speaker 2: Lampkin did a nice job. Cause it was, it was funny.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Cause I'm with Verizon Fios, you know, I'm watching, I'm doing,
- 9:06Speaker 2: cause they, they, they don't do replay. Like I want
- 9:08Speaker 2: it done. So I stopped it. I stopped it. See,
- 9:11Speaker 2: I don't, you know, I'll catch up on the plays
- 9:13Speaker 2: the way it works. If you have Fios people, if
- 9:15Speaker 2: you don't know this hit pause, hit the forward arrow,
- 9:20Speaker 2: and then it's all you have to do and it'll
- 9:21Speaker 2: slow it down and go forward. And I, I watched,
- 9:24Speaker 2: whenever I could get a better angle of Willie Lampkin,
- 9:26Speaker 2: he is unbelievably strong, as I told you in the pregame.
- 9:29Speaker 2: He is a man. He can't do anything about his
- 9:32Speaker 2: 5'10 3⁄4. Mark Armstead's arms, they're not that long. They're
- 9:36Speaker 2: actually 33. Still longer than Willie's.
- 9:38Speaker 1: But he's long. Yeah, he's a big dude.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got him by about 8 inches. But I
- 9:44Speaker 2: just thought they did a good job, man. I just thought, look,
- 9:49Speaker 2: they had so much going against them.

- 11:32Speaker 1: deal with people in my house trying to tell me
- 11:35Speaker 1: how much I'm going to have to pay that I
- 11:36Speaker 1: have to replace. the appliance. Then I got to do
- 11:39Speaker 1: research on what the best appliance is to replace with.
- 11:42Speaker 1: It is madness and can be very.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Very frustrating.

- 12:51Speaker 2: So much. So that's the way I, you know, I get,
- 12:53Speaker 2: we're not fans here, but we want to be, we
- 12:55Speaker 2: want to point out what we see, what we know,
- 12:59Speaker 2: what we hear. I know the coaches, they're going to
- 13:02Speaker 2: be super pissed off in the flight home. Nick, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 2: you could say, okay, late could have done a better
- 13:06Speaker 2: job of clock management or situational awareness management. But the
- 13:10Speaker 2: reason why they're in this game is because their coach. Well,
- 13:13Speaker 2: you don't with, with this kind of roster that they're
- 13:16Speaker 2: working for. I mean, guys who should not even be
- 13:18Speaker 2: playing the national football league. Okay. Or they're playing other–
- 13:21Speaker 2: Kenny Moore wound up being finished in the game as
- 13:24Speaker 2: a starting safety, okay? He's never played safety in his
- 13:26Speaker 2: freaking life. I know. Do we know if Fred Johnson's
- 13:29Speaker 2: ever played guard in his life? I know he had
- 13:31Speaker 2: a couple snaps in training camp.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if he's ever played in the NFL.
- 13:36Speaker 2: You got a false start. You knew it was coming.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But I just feel like– I'm watching this game. At
- 13:42Speaker 2: the start, I'm like, oh, they're going to get wiped.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Let's see how it's going to go. I hope it's competitive. Yep.
- 13:47Speaker 2: And you could say Liam Cohen is a moron for
- 13:49Speaker 2: some of the things he did, and I agree with
- 13:50Speaker 2: half of that.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I mean, how about just passing the ball on that
- 13:55Speaker 1: last drive for Jacksonville that stopped the clock?
- 13:57Speaker 2: I know. That was an unbelievably bad situational awareness. Just bad. Embarrassing.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Our friend Ryan Paganetti, we know Ryan. We need to
- 14:05Speaker 2: get him on. And I was looking. He tweets a ton,
- 14:08Speaker 2: so I can't watch it all. But anyone who knows
- 14:12Speaker 2: football knows you cannot be throwing that. You want Deagles
- 14:15Speaker 2: to waste their time outs? That was the offense. Defensively,
- 14:20Speaker 2: Carter was an absolute man. Really just fantastic. It looked
- 14:26Speaker 2: like to me it's a wrap now because this is
- 14:28Speaker 2: what typically when you have a fractured wrist, once you
- 14:30Speaker 2: get it to the point where you think you can
- 14:32Speaker 2: move it better, you go from the cast, which is
- 14:34Speaker 2: hard to a wrap. It looked like it was a wrap,
- 14:36Speaker 2: but we don't know for sure. He was incredible because look,
- 14:40Speaker 2: he's been mostly invisible until this game. He was great.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I know Woolen Willen had a couple bad plays, we know, obviously.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I mean, look, he's got to get off. He's got
- 14:52Speaker 1: to try harder to get off that Jacoby Myers block
- 14:55Speaker 1: on the Parker Washington first touchdown. People were upset by
- 14:58Speaker 1: Makuba peeking in the backfield. I mean, the Jags run
- 15:02Speaker 1: the ball. That's their offense. They had multiple tight ends.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I can understand a little bit. It was a bad angle.
- 15:07Speaker 1: But you're watching Myers just completely shove Willen out of
- 15:11Speaker 1: the play, down, down. I mean, I just thought he
- 15:13Speaker 1: needed to do a better job there, especially.
- 15:16Speaker 2: But on the second one, you got to know where
- 15:20Speaker 2: you're at on the field. You got to know, like,
- 15:22Speaker 2: remember he's got around five inches on, on Washington. He can't,
- 15:28Speaker 2: Washington cannot win that route. He just can't like, you
- 15:31Speaker 2: can't let that happen. Right.
- 15:33Speaker 1: We talked about his plate strength, right?
- 15:34Speaker 2: We talked about him. He just, you, you gotta, you
- 15:38Speaker 2: just can't let that happen. As a matter of fact,
- 15:40Speaker 2: a holding penalty is only five yards. Hold them. Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 2: That's a great point. You have the coaching technique, which
- 15:48Speaker 2: I've heard many years from. So you want to do it,
- 15:51Speaker 2: you know, obviously you want to do it.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And before the before the guy. For the guy throws
- 15:57Speaker 2: a football before it's a holding, but do anything to
- 15:59Speaker 2: disrupt him. But but do remember when they signed him.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Right. And we gave our scouting report on him from
- 16:04Speaker 1: people we talked to. The one area that surprised people
- 16:08Speaker 1: who watched tape about him. for his length and his
- 16:11Speaker 1: speed was that he does struggle to play the deep
- 16:14Speaker 1: ball in the air, whether it's turning around or spatial awareness,
- 16:17Speaker 1: as you were mentioning. And that it's, it's, it's almost
- 16:20Speaker 1: like a bad curve. I mean, you've got all the
- 16:23Speaker 1: traits to be able to play those kinds of balls
- 16:24Speaker 1: because you're long armed, you have great speed. Those aren't
- 16:27Speaker 1: plays where your, your stiff hips really go work against you.
- 16:31Speaker 1: It's just, you have to be able to like have
- 16:33Speaker 1: awareness of the space around you as you, as you
- 16:35Speaker 1: pointed out. So, but he gets picked on. He's so
- 16:39Speaker 1: much better seemingly in the short area, like the slants
- 16:43Speaker 1: or the digs where he gets those long arms on
- 16:44Speaker 1: the balls than he is when they put the ball
- 16:46Speaker 1: deep down on the field. It's almost reverse of what
- 16:48Speaker 1: you would expect.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to have a better awareness than that.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I'm just looking at my notes here. Campbell's got some issues, recognition,
- 17:00Speaker 2: play keys, which is a coaching term. You got to
- 17:03Speaker 2: know your keys. The run defense, too many five- and
- 17:09Speaker 2: six-yard runs. There's too many of them. That's a problem.
- 17:13Speaker 2: They have to be better there, and it's interesting. Look
- 17:17Speaker 2: at my notes here. I want to see what the
- 17:18Speaker 2: snap count is. But Jordan Davis' situation gets taken out.
- 17:22Speaker 2: He was out on some run plays, obvious rundowns. You
- 17:25Speaker 2: saw Young in.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yep.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You saw Young in the game. That was interesting. Carter
- 17:29Speaker 2: was out. He wasn't out for long, but I saw
- 17:31Speaker 2: him out for a couple plays, it looked like. But
- 17:34Speaker 2: there's some things they've got to clean up. Anton Harrison left,
- 17:38Speaker 2: who was there. Is he back? Yeah, he's back. He's
- 17:43Speaker 2: a left tackle. He was the right tackle last season.
- 17:46Speaker 2: But he leaves, and the pressure was fairly consistent in
- 17:51Speaker 2: this game because Lawrence played poorly for two and a
- 17:55Speaker 2: half quarters. He was awful, I thought. But Danny, when
- 17:58Speaker 2: they needed to get time in the fourth quarter, he
- 18:00Speaker 2: got it. I mean, he made plays when he had to.
- 18:02Speaker 2: As bad as he played, he got the job done.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Give him credit. He hung in there. But this is
- 18:07Speaker 2: one where, had they won, you'd say, well, they escaped.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Blood and guts game. Did it with so many players
- 18:15Speaker 2: out on both sides of the football. A lot going
- 18:17Speaker 2: against them, but they hung in there mentally. And they
- 18:20Speaker 2: lose because of special teams. It's such an odd game.
- 18:22Speaker 2: And then the opening kickoff, they give up a touchdown,
- 18:26Speaker 2: which didn't count because of a hold. Yeah. Drought Jr.
- 18:28Speaker 2: gets thrown out. And the other Brian Thomas Jr., but
- 18:32Speaker 2: from defense, a special teams linebacker gets thrown out. How
- 18:34Speaker 2: about that? Two Brian Thomas juniors on the same team.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'm telling you, there are about 10 to 12 things
- 18:39Speaker 1: that happened in the game that were just one of
- 18:41Speaker 1: the weirdest. They either make you recall things, like when
- 18:45Speaker 1: Jeremiah Trotter Sr. got kicked out of the Eagles-Atlanta game
- 18:49Speaker 1: in 2005. Remember that after the Super Bowl year? On
- 18:52Speaker 1: the opening kickoff. So it's just a very crazy game.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I want to do– and people might be surprised, but
- 18:58Speaker 1: I think we do need to hit this on the head.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I thought there were– you were right, that there are
- 19:03Speaker 1: some– Things to take away for the long term that
- 19:08Speaker 1: we're encouraging that will be difficult for fans who are
- 19:12Speaker 1: prisoners of the moment right now to get over because
- 19:14Speaker 1: of the short term. Short term is you're now two
- 19:16Speaker 1: and three. Panthers aren't a layup anymore. They can score
- 19:19Speaker 1: some points. So now you've got to go score points
- 19:22Speaker 1: to beat a team unless you can hold them down.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And right now it's hard to see what direction the
- 19:26Speaker 1: Eagles are going in. But I want to give credit
- 19:29Speaker 1: to a few things. Biggest issues that I had with
- 19:32Speaker 1: Sean Mannion going into this game, And we talked about
- 19:35Speaker 1: it on Inside the Data. When you're under center, you're
- 19:37Speaker 1: running the ball 78% of the time. When you're in shotgun,
- 19:40Speaker 1: you are passing the ball like 76% of the time.
- 19:43Speaker 1: They were just so one-dimensional that they were giving tells
- 19:47Speaker 1: of what they were going to do. So even with
- 19:49Speaker 1: all these backups, in, I charted at least six or
- 19:52Speaker 1: seven first downs where they went under center and ran
- 19:55Speaker 1: play-action passing. I thought that was really good, and I
- 19:58Speaker 1: also charted a couple of runs out of shotgun. So
- 20:02Speaker 1: as we talk about going forward, I thought it was
- 20:04Speaker 1: really important that Sean and the offensive staff make sure
- 20:07Speaker 1: that they were mixing things up and not being predictable,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and I do think that helped them. I also thought
- 20:12Speaker 1: they had more answers for when the Jags did bring
- 20:15Speaker 1: pressure as opposed to a couple weeks ago against the
- 20:19Speaker 1: Bears when there were just no answers where the offensive–
- 20:22Speaker 1: concepts and the quarterback himself just did not look comfortable
- 20:25Speaker 1: um even last week against the rams he saw that
- 20:27Speaker 1: in the second half but you know starting with the
- 20:29Speaker 1: the connection to wicks on that all-out blitz where wicks
- 20:32Speaker 1: gave him the the hand signal and he threw it
- 20:35Speaker 1: the slant that was good i saw more answers i
- 20:38Speaker 1: felt there was better preparation did they fall into their
- 20:41Speaker 1: second half rut yes it's absolutely something they got to
- 20:44Speaker 1: look at but i also thought that when they did
- 20:48Speaker 1: march to that fuel goal and converted some third downs
- 20:50Speaker 1: i mean what are they six of of 15 on
- 20:53Speaker 1: third down, if I'm not mistaken. It's 40%. Much better
- 20:54Speaker 1: than the first half.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yes, yeah. That's way better.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I thought, and I give Hertz credit. I think that
- 21:00Speaker 1: even when they were in the rut, he was more decisive.
- 21:03Speaker 1: He had a couple of incompletes. It wasn't like he
- 21:05Speaker 1: was running around stuck in the pocket. He misgot her.
- 21:07Speaker 1: He absolutely mixed. And this is unfortunate. he missed Wicks
- 21:12Speaker 1: on the all-out blitz deep down the side.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I was hoping you'd mention that, yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Because that was probably the dagger. And when everything's going great,
- 21:19Speaker 1: those are the plays that he makes, and you love it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Everything's not going great, so that really stands out. But
- 21:23Speaker 1: I just thought from an awareness, coaching, preparation standpoint, executing
- 21:28Speaker 1: the offense with all the moving forces on the offensive
- 21:31Speaker 1: line in front of him, there was encouragement there. I'm
- 21:34Speaker 1: not going to say it's the greatest showcase, but you
- 21:36Speaker 1: had to have seen– what we just talked about, if
- 21:38Speaker 1: you didn't see that, then you weren't paying attention. There
- 21:40Speaker 1: were some– Certain steps of progress there.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Think about it. The end of the game with four
- 21:45Speaker 2: backups on the offensive line. Okay. Okay. Let me just
- 21:49Speaker 2: give you an idea. Let's start with offense with their injuries, right?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Barkley out hamstring, Bigsby groin surgery on an injured reserve.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Won't be back till the second half of the season.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Shipley who was not on the injury report this week.
- 21:59Speaker 2: He was on the injury report with, with a foot
- 22:02Speaker 2: injury in week four today, foot injury out. No, he
- 22:07Speaker 2: never returned. Devante Smith out with a hamstring injury. but
- 22:10Speaker 2: he started jogging this week. Uh, our Andrew to check out.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It's good. Good film of that. That's great. We'll see
- 22:15Speaker 2: what happens in practice this week. Hollywood Brown out with
- 22:18Speaker 2: ankle injury, Johnny Wilson. Let's not forget where boy, they
- 22:22Speaker 2: sure as hell could have used him in the run game, man. Uh,
- 22:24Speaker 2: you know, he's on injury reserve again with a knee injury,
- 22:26Speaker 2: Calcaterra out back. I are. We'll see when he starts working.
- 22:30Speaker 2: He likes towers, quadriceps.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I are.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I think Johnson retired. Tyler Steen shoulder never returned. That
- 22:36Speaker 2: video was not good. Um, We'll see if it's biceps
- 22:39Speaker 2: instead of shoulder, but they said shoulder. Kim Juergens traded
- 22:43Speaker 2: Dickerson out with the knee bruise, and we mentioned Lane
- 22:47Speaker 2: Johnson retired. Defensively, Grenard out, ankle. He never practiced. They
- 22:53Speaker 2: list him as questionable, which means he might have worked
- 22:55Speaker 2: out before the game, but he didn't play. Jalek Sun.
- 22:58Speaker 2: The only positive I can say about that is that
- 23:02Speaker 2: they list him as questionable. I guess he refused the cart.
- 23:06Speaker 2: But you saw him get carried off, if you saw
- 23:07Speaker 2: the video, with the ankle and knee.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 2: It looked like, I'm hoping it's not dislocated. It's very
- 23:14Speaker 2: awkward the way his ankle and knee bent back.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 2: You saw Abacate replace him. Trotter got ejected. Epps out
- 23:21Speaker 2: with a groin. Michael Carter with the abdomen was ruled
- 23:23Speaker 2: out immediately. It's hard, man. I mean, Damian Pierce is
- 23:28Speaker 2: a straight-ahead runner. He had one nice zone cut. Really nice.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Really nice. Actually, really well-designed play. Yep. Because he doesn't
- 23:35Speaker 2: have the long speed. Shipley probably would have had 15
- 23:37Speaker 2: yards on that. He only got six. Right. But this
- 23:43Speaker 2: is who they are. They've got to eke out wins.
- 23:45Speaker 2: The defense, in a way, has got to carry them.
- 23:47Speaker 2: They have no running game. Interior of their offensive line
- 23:49Speaker 2: is shot. This is just– it's like they have to
- 23:55Speaker 2: be special teams, okay? Mann's been great. The kicker's been great.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I'm sure Trotter not being on the final play hurt them.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I'm sure of it. Okay. Shipley, as you know, is
- 24:10Speaker 2: a personal protector. That's an issue. It hadn't been yet.
- 24:13Speaker 2: But we'll have to see how Shipley's doing going forward.
- 24:17Speaker 2: But there's some ways that the defense is just going
- 24:19Speaker 2: to have to carry them. And they did a really
- 24:20Speaker 2: good job today against an outstanding play caller who didn't
- 24:24Speaker 2: call a great game. But overall, Cone's one of the best.
- 24:27Speaker 2: The reason why they've been so dominant. But there are
- 24:29Speaker 2: some positives here. I'm shocked that this game was as
- 24:33Speaker 2: close as it was. But, you know, we outlined a
- 24:35Speaker 2: lot of it. But I just felt like this is
- 24:38Speaker 2: a better coach game than you think. Because fans who
- 24:40Speaker 2: want to be in the moment, as you mentioned, were
- 24:42Speaker 2: super myopic. They're like, oh, well, they stink. Fire Sirianni.
- 24:46Speaker 2: He doesn't have them prepared. Then how the hell are
- 24:47Speaker 2: they in this game? Tell me. Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 1: No, I mean, I think what is a fair statement
- 24:52Speaker 1: to say, sometimes when a team has a lot of
- 24:55Speaker 1: self-inflicted wounds, false start penalties like the Jaguars did. You
- 24:58Speaker 1: say that's more them being bad than the opponent being good.
- 25:02Speaker 1: But the Jaguars had several holdings, and I equate that
- 25:06Speaker 1: to because the Eagles were just better. They were better
- 25:08Speaker 1: up front than the Jaguars were, and they were forcing–
- 25:11Speaker 1: those holds and those penalties, even some false starts where
- 25:14Speaker 1: they're jumping, they're trying to get, you know, a beat
- 25:17Speaker 1: on the Eagles pass rush. Jalen Carter was a game wrecker.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I thought Nolan's Nolan Smith did a really nice job.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And Vic Fangio to his credit, recognize that his defense is,
- 25:26Speaker 1: in the second half was going to need help after
- 25:28Speaker 1: losing JLX. And he blitzed, he, he threw quarterback blitzes in,
- 25:32Speaker 1: he threw six man rushes in. I mean, he did
- 25:34Speaker 1: more blitzing than he likes to do. And I think
- 25:37Speaker 1: it worked. I mean, we should be talking if not
- 25:39Speaker 1: for this, you know, if not for the late last
- 25:42Speaker 1: minute and a half, we'd be talking about all the
- 25:44Speaker 1: things that the coaches did to put their players in
- 25:47Speaker 1: a position to either hang in the game or succeed.
- 25:49Speaker 1: And that's the unfortunate part about how the last minute
- 25:52Speaker 1: and a half unfolded because the, I do think that
- 25:55Speaker 1: there were some good signs of encouragement. However, you're now
- 25:59Speaker 1: losing three in a row. You still have injuries. You
- 26:02Speaker 1: got to put the pieces together. You hope that they
- 26:04Speaker 1: can build off this and take the things that they
- 26:07Speaker 1: did do well, both in game planning and even some
- 26:10Speaker 1: players who play. Like you mentioned how Lampkin held his
- 26:12Speaker 1: own there in majors. Like if they have to play again,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you know, Markel Bell, we're not talking about him enough.
- 26:17Speaker 1: He's playing pretty good.
- 26:19Speaker 2: He had that one.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Bad false start, but they were able to overcome it, right,
- 26:23Speaker 1: on the field goal drive. in the fourth quarter. He
- 26:25Speaker 1: put him in a bad spot. But he's not playing
- 26:27Speaker 1: terribly either. No, he's positive. Yeah, these are good things. Yeah,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I know people are going to be like, why are
- 26:33Speaker 1: you guys all of a sudden like being homers? Usually
- 26:35Speaker 1: we hear you right now.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we're not. They think we're– a lot of fans
- 26:38Speaker 2: think we're super negative. No, we– Yeah, yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But we're calling it like we see it. There were
- 26:42Speaker 1: some good things. They shouldn't have been in the– they
- 26:44Speaker 1: were what, seven-and-a-half point underdogs? Do you know they opened
- 26:47Speaker 1: up as a one-and-a-half point favorite?
- 26:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 26:51Speaker 1: That changed really quickly when all those injuries settled in.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Also, a couple more notes. Vaughn, I can't speak to
- 26:58Speaker 2: the run, but as a blitzer, he got credit for
- 27:03Speaker 2: two hits, and boy, he had some explosive plays in
- 27:05Speaker 2: this game. Having him back was a major difference. There's
- 27:08Speaker 2: no question about it. Dajin had a couple nice tackles.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I thought he showed up. Carter, again, was a man there. Yep. Abacate,
- 27:18Speaker 2: he got a couple good pressures. So... We'll see what
- 27:22Speaker 2: happens here. They've got a number of injuries they've got
- 27:25Speaker 2: to get through. We'll learn more about the guys who
- 27:27Speaker 2: are on IR, whether they're practicing. They were eligible to
- 27:29Speaker 2: start practicing last week but didn't. And you're right about
- 27:34Speaker 2: Bryce Young. The Panthers come off their bye. Bryce Young
- 27:36Speaker 2: has been phenomenal this season, and they're going to be tested.
- 27:41Speaker 2: With Ted McMillan, who was on fire his last game. Yep,
- 27:44Speaker 2: they'll probably have Coker back. He's a good player. Right, right.
- 27:48Speaker 2: They've got– Yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Hasn't Darren Waller been catching passes? That's crazy.
- 27:53Speaker 2: He might set an FL record for coming out of retirement, but,
- 27:59Speaker 2: and Chuba Hubbard is Mr. Touchdown. They're going to have
- 28:01Speaker 2: their hands full, but you've got Eagle fans have to
- 28:04Speaker 2: be proud that they competed. I know it's not a
- 28:06Speaker 2: win and I get that no moral victories, but it's
- 28:09Speaker 2: very fair to break. Cause our job is to point
- 28:11Speaker 2: out everything that we see that the negatives are, I
- 28:14Speaker 2: just don't see how they're going to have a run
- 28:15Speaker 2: game without Barkley and being what's happening here. Inside, on
- 28:19Speaker 2: the interior. Here's the thing. Yes, Lampkin is part of
- 28:23Speaker 2: the offensive line that can't block for the run game.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But I'm talking pass pro until the damn broke fourth quarter.
- 28:31Speaker 2: They did an excellent job. When they were called upon
- 28:35Speaker 2: to hold the block two seconds or more, they did
- 28:39Speaker 2: a really good job. Folks, you don't understand. Two undrafted
- 28:43Speaker 2: free agents playing next to each other. Jake Majors and
- 28:45Speaker 2: Willie Lampkin, come on. It's why they're in the game,
- 28:48Speaker 2: to be honest with you.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I will say though, this still represents my bigger long-term
- 28:53Speaker 1: concern for the Eagles about figuring things out for as
- 28:56Speaker 1: long as, well, Kendall was hurt. So maybe Kendall will
- 28:58Speaker 1: be back at center and then maybe we'll see. Maybe
- 29:01Speaker 1: even Dickerson gets back to left guard. I mean, I
- 29:04Speaker 1: don't know, but the Eagles haven't run the ball in
- 29:07Speaker 1: a year and a half. We're going on. And if
- 29:10Speaker 1: they're not going to be able to find a run game,
- 29:12Speaker 1: then even when their passing game is better like it
- 29:15Speaker 1: was today and you're converting, it's going to catch you
- 29:18Speaker 1: In the end, you're not going to be able to
- 29:19Speaker 1: sustain drives. You're not going to be able to win
- 29:21Speaker 1: time of possession. And when that happens, you get into
- 29:24Speaker 1: the fourth quarter and they're always close games. And if
- 29:26Speaker 1: your defense isn't perfect, like in this case where Washington
- 29:29Speaker 1: gets another touchdown and that really was their only bad,
- 29:32Speaker 1: bad play other than maybe a tootin' run here or there,
- 29:36Speaker 1: then you lose, right? So I don't know how it
- 29:38Speaker 1: happens for the Eagles. I really don't, but they've got
- 29:41Speaker 1: to figure out a way to run the ball more effectively.
- 29:44Speaker 2: I don't see how. I mean, I don't see how.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Pierce is not explosive. Carson Steele And at this point,
- 29:51Speaker 2: until Barkley gets back– Well, even with.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Barkley, I assume Barkley will be back in a couple–
- 29:55Speaker 1: if not next week, soon. We'll hope.
- 29:57Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 29:57Speaker 1: They haven't run the ball well with Barkley outside of
- 30:00Speaker 1: just a few stretches.
- 30:02Speaker 2: But what you need– this is where I would agree
- 30:04Speaker 2: with you and Greg in our pregame show where I
- 30:08Speaker 2: talked about the importance of Goddard, which showed up, by
- 30:10Speaker 2: the way. I mean, I know he had a couple drops,
- 30:12Speaker 2: but he also made some plays.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Greg was definitely right on the lack of verticality. And
- 30:19Speaker 2: obviously Smitty will help that when he gets back. But Wicks,
- 30:22Speaker 2: I understand Hurts overthrew him, but Sauna runs better vertically,
- 30:26Speaker 2: catches that for a touchdown. You could disagree. We'll see
- 30:30Speaker 2: what the All-22 shows. But Wicks is not explosive. He's
- 30:33Speaker 2: not fast. He's good at running after the catch, but
- 30:35Speaker 2: you've got to get him the football first. He just
- 30:38Speaker 2: couldn't get it. And that's where not having someone vertically
- 30:42Speaker 2: who could run, that's where Hollywood Brown, I understand, he
- 30:45Speaker 2: didn't even play week one when he was active. He
- 30:48Speaker 2: never got in the game. You have to think this
- 30:52Speaker 2: ankle injury could be high ankle because this is three
- 30:54Speaker 2: weeks now. Yeah. It doesn't seem to be some low
- 30:58Speaker 2: ankle sprain, but. They got to find verticality somehow. That's
- 31:02Speaker 2: the thing about what you were texting me during the game. Like,
- 31:05Speaker 2: I'm going with an eight-man front. They can't run the football.
- 31:08Speaker 2: And they have backups in the offensive line. I said
- 31:11Speaker 2: on our pregame show, I thought we'd see a lot
- 31:13Speaker 2: of seven- and eight-man fronts. We'll see if Greg has
- 31:15Speaker 2: those numbers when we tape the show.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 31:21Speaker 1: long lines. We've all been there. But when it comes
- 31:24Speaker 1: to your cannabis... Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 31:28Speaker 1: the dispensary for sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly
- 31:33Speaker 1: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast.
- 31:35Speaker 2: No hassle.
- 31:36Speaker 1: No waiting. And they don't just care about convenience. Camden

- 32:16Speaker 2: Up but that was a thing where they did not
- 32:18Speaker 2: take advantage of the matchups that's bad coaching This game
- 32:22Speaker 2: should not have been close, but as much as we
- 32:23Speaker 2: want to give the Eagles coaches credit and they do
- 32:25Speaker 2: deserve it, they did not take advantage of matchups. Did
- 32:28Speaker 2: not at all.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I would say one last thing on the offense that
- 32:31Speaker 1: I think that they really need, and I think this
- 32:33Speaker 1: game just continues to solidify it. You and I talk
- 32:35Speaker 1: about it quite a bit. I know they're trying to
- 32:38Speaker 1: get Mekhi Lemon more involved than he should. He's in
- 32:40Speaker 1: first-round pick and he's good, but they've got to scheme
- 32:43Speaker 1: the way to get the ball to Cooper more. Darius Cooper,
- 32:45Speaker 1: he makes plays when he's targeted. He has to have
- 32:48Speaker 1: one of the craziest– catch to touchdown rates there is
- 32:52Speaker 1: in the NFL at this point. I mean, he only
- 32:54Speaker 1: had two catches. He had a touchdown last week.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Same thing.
- 32:56Speaker 1: It's the Rams. Same thing. I mean, the guy is
- 32:59Speaker 1: a good player and maybe they just got to get
- 33:01Speaker 1: them underneath more so we can use that strength that
- 33:03Speaker 1: he's got to make more yards after the catch. That's
- 33:06Speaker 1: really what they're doing with lemon right now, but you
- 33:09Speaker 1: can do it with both. You got to try harder.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I mean, I think he's, I agree.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. I, running after the catch was good. The
- 33:18Speaker 2: touchdown catch. Good job by Hurst to get it out quickly.
- 33:20Speaker 2: He did get out of his hands quickly. That's the
- 33:22Speaker 2: key to that play. Yeah. Really good run after the catch.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Cooper is watching, looking at him and trying to keep
- 33:27Speaker 2: us like, wow, he is really rocked up. Like he's
- 33:30Speaker 2: built himself up. He is a great story development that
- 33:35Speaker 2: you're right. Particularly when you look at the overall past
- 33:38Speaker 2: target group, they're just without Smitty. They're so pedestrian. Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Get them the football more, man. Just get them the
- 33:43Speaker 2: football more. They've, Also, one more thing that really bothered me,
- 33:46Speaker 2: which I texted you about, the fourth down play, you
- 33:50Speaker 2: have Ertz at the exposition. How the hell do you
- 33:52Speaker 2: not have Goddard in there? That's a disgrace. Unless he
- 33:55Speaker 2: was out of breath, unless there was something wrong with him,
- 34:01Speaker 2: he's got to be in. What are you doing?
- 34:03Speaker 1: Well, I think in general, I would have liked to
- 34:05Speaker 1: have seen a receiver. And maybe that was part of
- 34:08Speaker 1: the package to not give the tell. But even if
- 34:10Speaker 1: you're throwing a Goddard down the– Goddard doesn't really help
- 34:13Speaker 1: you as much also down the right sideline 20 yards.
- 34:16Speaker 1: He's more middle of the field in his own– But
- 34:19Speaker 1: Mertz is the last person who's going to help you there.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Yeah. You don't need– Whatever the fourth down yardage was,
- 34:25Speaker 2: that's why Goddard's in there. I mean, he moves way
- 34:28Speaker 2: better than Zach. I just thought it was bad coaching.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I always hate when– The coach– well, he wasn't in
- 34:35Speaker 2: for that package. Who bleeping cares? That's irrelevant. Get him in.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Your best pass– well, I know he had a couple drops,
- 34:43Speaker 2: but your best players have to be in, period, end
- 34:45Speaker 2: of story. I don't care what his excuse is. I
- 34:47Speaker 2: hope the media asks him. It's inexcusable for him not
- 34:50Speaker 2: to be in if he was healthy enough to be
- 34:51Speaker 2: in for that play. Anyway. Awesome.
- 34:53Speaker 1: One thing I want to ask Greg about, and we'll
- 34:55Speaker 1: leave on this. I did find it interesting that when
- 34:57Speaker 1: Fred Johnson went in at right guard, and you had
- 35:00Speaker 1: him next to Markel Bell, the Eagles came out with
- 35:02Speaker 1: a whole series of passing. It almost seemed like they
- 35:05Speaker 1: didn't trust both of those two guys to run block.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I would have thought that's like, what, 700 and something?
- 35:12Speaker 2: Oh, beef.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I knew you were going there. Why wouldn't you
- 35:14Speaker 1: try running Pierce behind that? Because he's a power runner.
- 35:17Speaker 1: But they didn't do that, and I'm not sure why.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Fair point. And the other thing that surprised me, Now,
- 35:24Speaker 2: we'll never know the truth because it's not like Sirianni
- 35:27Speaker 2: or Manu are going to tell the truth. Why would
- 35:28Speaker 2: you if you ask this question? But I thought it
- 35:31Speaker 2: was fascinating that they came out throwing. This was before
- 35:34Speaker 2: Shipley got hurt. I was like, wow, okay. Sure, pass it.
- 35:37Speaker 2: You know, quick game, smart. I liked it. I thought
- 35:40Speaker 2: Manu did a much better job, better field. Still not
- 35:42Speaker 2: there with him. I thought he made some mistakes in
- 35:44Speaker 2: the game. Yes. I know he's shorthanded as hell. But
- 35:48Speaker 2: I still– one of the things I've had a problem with,
- 35:51Speaker 2: it wasn't just him– and Kellen Moore's problem was that
- 35:54Speaker 2: he was kind of handcuffed to a degree. You couldn't
- 35:57Speaker 2: run the, it was all about because part of us,
- 36:00Speaker 2: because Barkley was elite best season NFL history from beginning
- 36:03Speaker 2: in to end with a running back, but he's taking
- 36:05Speaker 2: advantage of matchups. It's just, there's certain things you, you
- 36:09Speaker 2: gotta get the knock on the Jaguars defense is short
- 36:13Speaker 2: area stuff. And Eagle certainly went after it. That's where
- 36:16Speaker 2: I thought got it. God, it was very active in
- 36:18Speaker 2: the game. There's no doubt about it, but I just
- 36:19Speaker 2: would have loved to have seen him get the ball more, uh,
- 36:23Speaker 2: Lemons becoming more of a factor running after the catch.
- 36:25Speaker 2: He's a contested catch tough guy. He's a, he's a,
- 36:30Speaker 2: he would, and boy, do they reduce their splits in
- 36:31Speaker 2: this game? This is, this is, this looks like OTAs
- 36:34Speaker 2: by the way. This is like the first note we
- 36:36Speaker 2: had after you watch the first couple of OT practices,
- 36:40Speaker 2: Eric condensed tight splits, move them inside. Cause it's hard to,
- 36:43Speaker 2: it's hard to sort of press very hard to press
- 36:47Speaker 2: like that. And it was working. But when you're working
- 36:50Speaker 2: with guys who are just not explosive, eventually going to
- 36:53Speaker 2: catch up to you. And this is what we were
- 36:54Speaker 2: talking about in the pregame. It caught up to them,
- 36:57Speaker 2: but they still shouldn't have lost. And we'll see what
- 37:00Speaker 2: happens against Carolina. They'll be home. Schedules gets better in
- 37:04Speaker 2: terms of quality of opponent. Doesn't mean they're going to
- 37:06Speaker 2: win because they've got the injury problems. Most of them
- 37:08Speaker 2: will not get any better this week. Trading jargons won't
- 37:11Speaker 2: get any better. And Lane Johnson's retirement won't get any better.
- 37:14Speaker 2: So they're going to have to figure this out. But
- 37:16Speaker 2: 61 Lampkin. something. I cannot wait. We need to do
- 37:20Speaker 2: like 20 minutes of Lampkin on this Inside the Tape show.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Maybe we're wrong. Maybe there's some bad snaps. Of course
- 37:25Speaker 2: there could be some bad snaps. But there was a
- 37:27Speaker 2: lot to like that you could see off television. For sure.
- 37:30Speaker 1: We are going to get deep into the tape. We'll
- 37:31Speaker 1: get deep into the data and the analytics. We'll get
- 37:34Speaker 1: to check out dailies all week long as we continue
- 37:38Speaker 1: this thing and we trudge into week six and the
- 37:40Speaker 1: Eagles will be looking to turn around their fortunes as
- 37:43Speaker 1: of late. That's going to do it for the Inside
- 37:45Speaker 1: the Birds post-game show for Adam Kaplan. I'm Jeff Mosher.
- 37:49Speaker 1: We'll catch you all on the next one.
