Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: All right.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Coming up this weekend, my wife has invited some friends
- 0:09Speaker 2: of mine who I was great friends with in high school,
- 0:11Speaker 2: still great friends with to this day. One of the
- 0:14Speaker 2: guys I've actually known since I was about six or
- 0:16Speaker 2: seven years old or something. Imagine that we've known each
- 0:19Speaker 2: other since we were seven, and we are doing our
- 0:23Speaker 2: own friends giving, and I'm kind of risking it. I've
- 0:27Speaker 2: never made a turkey before. I know it might be sad.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I just haven't had to do it.
- 0:30Speaker 1: All right, Thanks Mom and Dad for all the love
- 0:32Speaker 1: and support leasures.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I want to put this in the hands of the
- 0:37Speaker 2: big ninety eight point seven you this morning, the listener.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I want to give this opportunity to you. Friends are
- 0:46Speaker 2: coming over for friendsgiving. Angie asked if she could come
- 0:50Speaker 2: over for friends giving. My wife said absolutely, that's totally fine.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I said, no, Shop, I have to sit with you
- 0:58Speaker 2: for four hours every day, Gabe.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I think it's rude.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Like I initially, you talked about friends giving yesterday, and
- 1:06Speaker 4: I thought, why is this the first time hearing about
- 1:09Speaker 4: it and not an invitation form.
- 1:11Speaker 2: You have to know I didn't plan like I wasn't
- 1:14Speaker 2: a part of this planning process, all right, But.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Then now I feel weird, like I invited myself clearly
- 1:20Speaker 4: because I'm annoying. But your wife said yes and you
- 1:25Speaker 4: are saying no, yeah, and so what the big ninety
- 1:30Speaker 4: eight points of the listeners they get to decide, Yeah,
- 1:33Speaker 4: should I put a pole on?
- 1:34Speaker 2: That's exactly what we're gonna do. I'm gonna put this
- 1:37Speaker 2: in the hands of you. Does Angie get to come
- 1:40Speaker 2: over to the Glitten Friends Giving this weekend? It's a
- 1:44Speaker 2: very simple yes or no text us at seven oh
- 1:48Speaker 2: one two eight zero one nine eight seven, or you
- 1:51Speaker 2: could potentially answer this poll.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Is it going to be up on.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Tae Yeah, I'm gonna put it on Facebook right after this.
- 1:56Speaker 3: My question is why wouldn't I have been?
- 2:00Speaker 4: Is it because, like, for you, this is more like
- 2:03Speaker 4: your friends from back home, and I'm not a friend
- 2:05Speaker 4: from back home.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Well, if I'm being honest with you, Angie, I completely
- 2:09Speaker 2: forgot about friends Giving all the way up until the
- 2:11Speaker 2: Monday when we brought it up right here at big
- 2:14Speaker 2: eight point seven. So I forgot. It's not like I
- 2:15Speaker 2: chose to. It's not like I woke up and was like,
- 2:18Speaker 2: you know what, I am definitely not inviting Angie to Friendsgiving.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Okay, but now you think it's amusing, so you're not
- 2:24Speaker 4: inviting me?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Well, yeah, now I think it's funny.
- 2:28Speaker 2: All right, do you have a friend who you would
- 2:29Speaker 2: never invite to Friendsgiving? Seven to zero one nine eight seven,
- 2:35Speaker 2: or you can call you know what, maybe I'll have
- 2:37Speaker 2: Angie give me a thirty second like elevator pitch on
- 2:40Speaker 2: why she should be allowed to come back.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Okay, yes, I will, I will do it elevator pitch.
- 2:45Speaker 2: All right, So what we're gonna do. We're gonna get
- 2:47Speaker 2: a poll up, We're gonna get some texts. I'm gonna
- 2:49Speaker 2: tally these throughout the entire morning, or you can tally whatever.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:54Speaker 2: At eight forty one, we will reveal if Angie gets
- 2:57Speaker 2: to go to Friendsgiving. Now, if the poll has more
- 3:01Speaker 2: nose than yes, your pitch. If it's good, we'll get
- 3:05Speaker 2: you ten yes votes.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Okay, I like this. I like this.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Now if there are an overwhelming number of yes votes,
- 3:13Speaker 2: then we'll just do the pitch and it'll be funny.
- 3:14Speaker 2: But okay, eight forty one, we'll find out Angie gets
- 3:17Speaker 2: to come to friends Giving at the Glitten House this weekend.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Be ready for that poll and cast your votes. Have
- 3:27Speaker 2: you ever had a friends giving at your house where
- 3:30Speaker 2: at some point, you know, you invite somebody, invite another person,
- 3:33Speaker 2: you invite another person, and at some point the list
- 3:35Speaker 2: has to just be cut off, can't fit any more
- 3:38Speaker 2: people around the table. I'm not in that situation at all.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I just find this really funny to hang over Angie's head.
- 3:44Speaker 2: We've got a glitten friends giving this weekend. My wife
- 3:48Speaker 2: has talked to a lot of my friends that I've
- 3:50Speaker 2: known forever, I mean since I was seven, and they're
- 3:55Speaker 2: going to be coming over. And Angie was like, oh
- 3:57Speaker 2: am I invited to friends giving? And my lovely wife
- 3:59Speaker 2: was like, well yeah, of course. And I said, well,
- 4:02Speaker 2: god no, this is going to turn into a radio thing.
- 4:05Speaker 2: So we asked you the Big ninety eight point seven
- 4:09Speaker 2: Morning show listeners Angie have spoke. Does Angie get to
- 4:12Speaker 2: freely willy nilly come to Thanksgiving? Or does she need
- 4:15Speaker 2: to give a thirty second elevator pitch?
- 4:17Speaker 1: Here the listeners have.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Spoked, they said, yes, she's Gabe's friend at fifty eight percent.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But here is the caveat to this story.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I'm really glad you haven't refreshed your page because I
- 4:31Speaker 4: refreshed it and it's actually.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Fifty to fifty on Facebook, now is it really?
- 4:36Speaker 4: Yes?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Oh that's great.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Well, here's the caveat the boss the Queen Bee of
- 4:41Speaker 2: the Glitten House. She texted me this morning and said, regardless,
- 4:45Speaker 2: Angie gets to come, but I want to hear this
- 4:47Speaker 2: thirty second elevator pitch. Wow, I've lost to Corey Glidden
- 4:52Speaker 2: this morning on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Angie, do you have a thirty second pitch for me?
- 4:57Speaker 5: Here?
- 4:57Speaker 3: All right, it's at the time, right.
- 4:59Speaker 1: You need me to give you a like some mood
- 5:00Speaker 1: music here at all?
- 5:01Speaker 3: Whatever you think? What are you?
- 5:03Speaker 1: All right? I think I got something for you.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Okay, this is an old buddy goodie.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, your time begins. Now let me hear it. Gabe.
- 5:12Speaker 4: I believe that I should be invited to friendsgiving because
- 5:16Speaker 4: once upon a time you told me that you never
- 5:18Speaker 4: bring dishes to a friends giving because you wash the
- 5:21Speaker 4: dishes and that's your contribution. But now that you're hosting,
- 5:25Speaker 4: you don't have that option. So guess what I'm gonna
- 5:27Speaker 4: step in and I will be the dishes hero.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I will wash all of the.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Dishes from friends giving, so you don't have to.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Also, I will give you money, you know what.
- 5:40Speaker 1: That was pretty good, Angie. The timer's up right now?
- 5:42Speaker 1: All right? Yeah what fifteen bucks?
- 5:45Speaker 4: Fifteen bucks and I'll wash all the dishes, baby, Okay,
- 5:48Speaker 4: you can come to friends.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Celebrating life's little victories every morning. We practice gratitude on
- 5:58Speaker 6: Big ninety eight point seven.
- 6:00Speaker 5: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 6:02Speaker 5: plastic job busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Sure your little victories with us at seven oh one
- 6:08Speaker 6: two eight ozho one ninety eight seven.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Kids, I also needed to win that day, all right.
- 6:14Speaker 2: We have to give a big shout out to Sarah today.
- 6:18Speaker 2: She texted in for her little victory. Her daughter got
- 6:21Speaker 2: an A on her math test the other day.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Oh yes, I love it.
- 6:24Speaker 1: She added.
- 6:25Speaker 2: She was struggling with math the past month and they
- 6:27Speaker 2: really worked hard this past month and she was nervous
- 6:30Speaker 2: for this test and she.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Did a pretty good job. So we had to go
- 6:32Speaker 1: to Sarah.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Congratulations, Angie, do you have a little victory today? It's
- 6:36Speaker 2: important to practice gratitude, and we do it every day
- 6:39Speaker 2: here on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 6:41Speaker 1: What's your little victory today?
- 6:42Speaker 4: You know what for the first time ever, I watched
- 6:46Speaker 4: the Peanuts Thanksgiving Special and Christmas Special. I'd never seen
- 6:51Speaker 4: it my whole life, and like, I know about Charlie
- 6:55Speaker 4: Brown and Snoopy and whatever. But that's Mikey's favorite because
- 6:59Speaker 4: he grew up watch it because he's one hundred years old.
- 7:01Speaker 4: And so we finally sat down. I'm just kidding, he's
- 7:06Speaker 4: fifty nine, but we sat down and we watched it,
- 7:09Speaker 4: and the kids liked it too, and so now we're
- 7:12Speaker 4: very into the Peanuts Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oh, by the way,
- 7:17Speaker 4: in the Peanuts Thanksgiving Special, it's like a really awful
- 7:22Speaker 4: Thanksgiving meal.
- 7:23Speaker 3: That Snoopy makes for everyone.
- 7:25Speaker 4: But we're gonna do that this year for Thanksgiving lunch.
- 7:29Speaker 4: So it's like popcorn, pretzel sticks and like a bunch
- 7:33Speaker 4: of juke.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I kind of love that.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like, what kind of thing is this? So
- 7:38Speaker 4: we're gonna do that for Thanksgiving lunch. And we wouldn't
- 7:40Speaker 4: have Thanksgiving lunch if it wasn't for the Peanuts Thanksgiving Special.
- 7:43Speaker 1: So that's my little.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Victory, Poor Mikey catching strays at like six eleven in
- 7:47Speaker 2: the morning. All right, my little victory, very simple. Once again,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I got mine are so often food, but it's got
- 7:55Speaker 2: to be food today. My wife Corey made chicken noodle
- 7:59Speaker 2: soup in the crock pot the other day, and there
- 8:01Speaker 2: is something about homemade chicken noodle soup. Oh yeah, that
- 8:05Speaker 2: just it warms your heart in November, both physically and
- 8:09Speaker 2: mentally because when you eat it, it's great and it's
- 8:11Speaker 2: cold outside, but it's just it's so good. And anytime
- 8:15Speaker 2: she makes anything in the crockpot, I know we're in
- 8:18Speaker 2: for like something fire. And of course, is that what
- 8:21Speaker 2: you have for lunch today? No, I did not bring
- 8:23Speaker 2: that for lunch. I've been eating that at home. I've
- 8:26Speaker 2: kind of savored that soup moment for when I'm on
- 8:29Speaker 2: the couch doing nothing.
- 8:30Speaker 3: You know what, that makes sense.
- 8:31Speaker 4: I don't want you to sleep at your desk, drink
- 8:34Speaker 4: the chicken noodle soup.
- 8:35Speaker 3: It's so cozy and then you pass out. That wouldn't
- 8:37Speaker 3: be a good look.
- 8:38Speaker 1: That's right, And don't forget.
- 8:39Speaker 2: If you ever have a little victory and there's something
- 8:43Speaker 2: you want to share with us, share it with us.
- 8:44Speaker 2: They always brighten our day. If it's gonna brighten your day,
- 8:47Speaker 2: let us know. At seven oh one two eight zero,
- 8:50Speaker 2: one eight seven.
- 8:54Speaker 5: I have always wanted to have a neighbor just.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Like something about that song that that just makes you
- 9:02Speaker 1: feel comforting.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Mister Rogers was my first ever crush. We'll have to
- 9:08Speaker 4: talk about that at a different time, but yes, this
- 9:10Speaker 4: song means everything to me.
- 9:11Speaker 1: That song feels like a hug.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, is the exact opposite of how you feel like
- 9:16Speaker 2: when you're going through a dispute with your neighbor. I
- 9:18Speaker 2: don't know if you saw this, Angie, but there was
- 9:21Speaker 2: something on an NDSU Facebook page I found where this
- 9:25Speaker 2: woman kind of did her own am I the problem?
- 9:29Speaker 2: And this was great. She shared how her dorm neighbor
- 9:33Speaker 2: was constantly blasting loud music at like one or two am,
- 9:37Speaker 2: and she requested her to stop, and the night before
- 9:40Speaker 2: a major exam, she turned the music off even louder.
- 9:43Speaker 2: So this person who I'm gonna let remain nameless. Yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 2: she decided to get some paybacks. She knows that her
- 9:49Speaker 2: dorm neighbor slept in until noon and hated mornings. Okay,
- 9:55Speaker 2: she blasted cheesy early two thousands pop, and you can
- 9:58Speaker 2: tell us as a college kid, early two thousand pop
- 10:01Speaker 2: was absolutely fire.
- 10:02Speaker 3: By yeah, not banger After banger, but okay.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Through their shared wall every day at six thirty am.
- 10:10Speaker 2: After three days, her rude neighbor finally decided to stop.
- 10:14Speaker 2: By the end of the week, the late noise had come,
- 10:17Speaker 2: or the noise late at night excuse me I had
- 10:18Speaker 2: completely ended. And it was kind of a fun get
- 10:22Speaker 2: the popcorn ready and enjoy a little Facebook dispute, yeah,
- 10:25Speaker 2: on this NDSU page. And it got me thinking, you know,
- 10:29Speaker 2: have you ever had a dispute with a neighbor seven
- 10:32Speaker 2: oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven. It
- 10:34Speaker 2: could be a neighbor who you know lives next door
- 10:36Speaker 2: to you. It could be a neighbor in an apartment
- 10:38Speaker 2: complex you share a dorm room. You could even be
- 10:41Speaker 2: a teacher and you have a classroom neighbor. Oh yeah,
- 10:45Speaker 2: have a little bit of an issue with let us
- 10:47Speaker 2: know here this morning at seven oh one two eight
- 10:50Speaker 2: zero one nine eight seven, Abigail, how have you maybe
- 10:54Speaker 2: handled a dispute with a neighbor?
- 10:56Speaker 6: My neighbor kept letting his dog poop in my yard.
- 10:58Speaker 4: So one day I walked over there with the target
- 11:00Speaker 4: bag full of evidence, and I knocked on his door,
- 11:04Speaker 4: smiled like a pageant queen, and said.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I think something of yours ended up in my lawn
- 11:09Speaker 3: and he.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Turned red like a tomato.
- 11:11Speaker 3: In July and problem solved.
- 11:13Speaker 6: Dog hasn't crossed the property line since.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 2: The only thing Abigail should have done there was do
- 11:17Speaker 2: the old put it in a bag lighted on fire
- 11:19Speaker 2: on the front porch.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I guarantee you that gets that to stop. Angie, you've
- 11:24Speaker 2: had a dispute with a neighbor. Hi, you get that settled.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I knew you were gonna bring this up.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I did have a dispute with my neighbor that I
- 11:31Speaker 4: fully intended on not dealing with until you, Gabe, you
- 11:37Speaker 4: got my neighbor on the phone.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and so I settled it because you forced me to,
- 11:43Speaker 3: because you made us talk it out.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and on air. Now, are you goy? You're not
- 11:47Speaker 1: like besties per se, but you're on good terms.
- 11:49Speaker 3: No, yeah, we're on good terms.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Nothing you know what, Nothing really bad has happened. I
- 11:54Speaker 4: will say, though, they got I think a new dog,
- 11:58Speaker 4: and that little cute dog barks a lot.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Yeah, when I'm trying to go to bed.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's tough.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I mean, I'm probably not gonna do anything about that either.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I told you you're probably gonna get her on the
- 12:10Speaker 3: phone again.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Connor, How have you handled a dispute with the neighbor.
- 12:15Speaker 5: My neighbor and I have always butted heads about their
- 12:17Speaker 5: air conditioner. It's sit in a window right across from
- 12:19Speaker 5: our bedroom and it's insanely loud. They didn't believe me
- 12:23Speaker 5: and brushed me off many times. So I invited them
- 12:25Speaker 5: over to hear it, and they agreed that it was
- 12:28Speaker 5: crazy loud and moved it to another window and.
- 12:31Speaker 6: That was that.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds pretty mature though, that that's not too bad.
- 12:34Speaker 1: That would stink though.
- 12:36Speaker 2: If there's no other way for them to like cool
- 12:39Speaker 2: their room or house or whatever, they have to use
- 12:41Speaker 2: a window unit and it's just noisy. That stinks for
- 12:45Speaker 2: the neighbor. That also, I'm sure they feel bad. It's
- 12:47Speaker 2: not like they're like, oh, I hope this is really
- 12:49Speaker 2: loud and disrupts my neighbor.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I mean, the good thing is now I don't think
- 12:52Speaker 4: how you're not using your AC now? Yeah, thankfully that's
- 12:55Speaker 4: probably yeah, for the next few months, he'll be okay,
- 12:58Speaker 4: that's right.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Seven oh one to two A zero one nine eight seven.
- 13:02Speaker 2: How have you settled a dispute with a neighbor. Let
- 13:05Speaker 2: us know this morning on Big ninety eight point seven, in.
- 13:09Speaker 6: The world of rules in Gray Areas, one morning show
- 13:12Speaker 6: dares to ask the hard questions.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Is it illegal for a child to wear that much makeup?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Is it legal?
- 13:18Speaker 4: I understand, I understand it's funny as all can get out,
- 13:20Speaker 4: but is it even legal?
- 13:22Speaker 1: On Big ninety eight point seven.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Is it legal to hook up in your car?
- 13:30Speaker 4: If you can't, you don't seem to get away from
- 13:33Speaker 4: the kiddles, and as a last resort you think maybe
- 13:36Speaker 4: I should go to the car.
- 13:37Speaker 3: But I'm a rule follower, so I need to know
- 13:40Speaker 3: if that is legal, Gabe.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Now, I don't want to be the guy who ruins
- 13:43Speaker 2: your romantic creativity, Angie, okay, but North Dakota has forced
- 13:50Speaker 2: me to be that, because yes, it is illegal to
- 13:54Speaker 2: a hookup in your car here or as matter, it's
- 13:57Speaker 2: more illegal to come in your car here. Dakota law
- 14:01Speaker 2: basically says that your car is for driving and not
- 14:04Speaker 2: for drive ins. No backseat buggy, no steamy window, titanic reenactments, nothing.
- 14:13Speaker 1: The moment things get PG.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Thirteen, You're suddenly staring down your own episode of cops. Okay,
- 14:19Speaker 2: and don't forget this all right, let's call a spade
- 14:21Speaker 2: a spade.
- 14:22Speaker 1: This is the FM area. Okay.
- 14:25Speaker 2: There is like an eighty percent chance that if someone's
- 14:28Speaker 2: driving by and catches you, they either know you or
- 14:31Speaker 2: recognize you, or they know your mother. Imagine that story
- 14:35Speaker 2: coming up at Thanksgiving and having to explain that.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Okay, I did not think about that.
- 14:40Speaker 2: So we want to remind you, you know, keep it classy,
- 14:43Speaker 2: keep your vehicles for the road, and keep it indoors. Okay,
- 14:47Speaker 2: this has been your friendly neighborhood mood runer here this
- 14:52Speaker 2: morning on Big ninety eight point seven. Now it's only
- 14:59Speaker 2: two Tuesday, We're only on the second day of the
- 15:02Speaker 2: work week. But sometimes you can just feel like, oh god,
- 15:07Speaker 2: it's Tuesday. I already need a margarita. Yeah, do you
- 15:11Speaker 2: need a margarita? Seven oh one two eight zero one
- 15:14Speaker 2: nine eight seven. We have this up on Facebook. You
- 15:17Speaker 2: can call us her text us. You know, maybe something
- 15:19Speaker 2: great happen, maybe something not great. Let us know this
- 15:23Speaker 2: morning as U Rhanne, she said, I turned fifty four.
- 15:28Speaker 3: That's right, Happy birthday.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I hope I'm saying your name correctly. By the way,
- 15:33Speaker 2: Happy birthday. We hope you enjoy a nice margarita on
- 15:37Speaker 2: this November eighteenth, Kristen. She said, a deer ran through
- 15:43Speaker 2: her windshield at sixty five miles an hour for Riston, obviously,
- 15:48Speaker 2: we hope you're okay. It sounds like you're doing all
- 15:50Speaker 2: right if you were able to comment on Facebook. But yeah,
- 15:52Speaker 2: i'd definitely say that's margarita worthy.
- 15:54Speaker 3: That's a whole picture of margarita.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yes, sir, could you ammagine it's only Tuesday and you're like, oh,
- 15:59Speaker 2: I need a Yeah, you're in for a long week.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Angie, Why do you think you deserve margarita today?
- 16:05Speaker 3: Because I love them.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I just love a margarita, and I feel like I
- 16:12Speaker 4: should treat myself to a margarita. It doesn't take a lot, Gabe,
- 16:16Speaker 4: it doesn't take.
