- 0:02Speaker 1: Todd Father, and Ron Kraft's joining us. Maybe if he
- 0:05Speaker 1: figures out his minor league Wi Fi. Minor league WiFi.
- 0:09Speaker 1: It does. It also happens to the worst of them.
- 0:14Speaker 1: But either way, we love him. We love him to death.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Before we jump in, a couple of notes at the
- 0:20Speaker 1: top here. First of all, one of your former teams
- 0:22Speaker 1: has had a really rough year and it'll get maybe
- 0:25Speaker 1: a little bit better today. Francisco Lindor activated for the Mets.
- 0:29Speaker 1: He's gonna play in Game two. He's activated for Game two.
- 0:32Speaker 1: There's a Mets Cups doubleheader today. That's why we're not
- 0:35Speaker 1: on TV today, or at least not on Marquee TV
- 0:39Speaker 1: today because the Cubs have a day game. But Lindor
- 0:41Speaker 1: comes back. He's been missing for a while now. And
- 0:45Speaker 1: Todd Father, they could use all the help that they
- 0:49Speaker 1: can get. Kodai Sengga yesterday looked really good for an
- 0:53Speaker 1: inning and then he looked terrible. And he's got a
- 0:55Speaker 1: ten e ra in seven starts.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, this has been a talk about for a while,
- 1:01Speaker 2: especially with Kodai Sanga. I mean, you thought this guy
- 1:04Speaker 2: was going to be a staple. You thought this guy
- 1:05Speaker 2: was going to be the dude that Mets were gonna
- 1:08Speaker 2: be talking about for years to come. It's just not
- 1:10Speaker 2: panning out right now, and that's frustrating. If you're a
- 1:13Speaker 2: Mets fan, if you are part of the organization, you're like,
- 1:16Speaker 2: what goes here? You know, he had that nasty splitter.
- 1:19Speaker 2: He throws the ball well, he's smooth and silky. Hitters
- 1:23Speaker 2: are just seeing the ball really well. Off him again,
- 1:26Speaker 2: He'll have an inning or two or three, he'll have
- 1:28Speaker 2: a good outing there and then two or three bad ones.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean, you have to be consistent. The consistency is
- 1:33Speaker 2: not there, and the Mets need really all the help
- 1:36Speaker 2: they can get. Again. They're not out of anything, but
- 1:39Speaker 2: they're pushing right now. I mean they are not playing
- 1:42Speaker 2: well against good teams. The Reds came into town and
- 1:46Speaker 2: beat them up pretty good. So yeah, it's it's frustrating.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I love to see all New York do well. I
- 1:53Speaker 2: think you know, whether a Yankee fan or Met fans,
- 1:56Speaker 2: seeing both teams do well. That makes for good conversation,
- 2:00Speaker 2: some good banter back and forth in the mornings when
- 2:02Speaker 2: you're getting your cup of coffee at the barbershop or
- 2:04Speaker 2: down your local convenience store, talking old Johnny yo, we
- 2:08Speaker 2: got him this year. Well, guess what, there's no conversations.
- 2:11Speaker 2: That guy's walking right by the Yankee fan. The Yankee
- 2:14Speaker 2: fans like, yup, got you this time. So right now
- 2:18Speaker 2: they are not looking good at all, so hopefully they
- 2:20Speaker 2: can figure something out.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, he was pumping ninety nine. First inning, we're talking
- 2:24Speaker 1: about Sega. Kratz is here, and I know you've been
- 2:27Speaker 1: kind of down on him, and you've been right on
- 2:29Speaker 1: the money there. He can't throw strikes. I mean he
- 2:32Speaker 1: hit at least one batter than I caught, and he
- 2:34Speaker 1: also walked five, including walking the bases loaded. It was
- 2:37Speaker 1: after like he's pumping ninety nine, he gets through the
- 2:39Speaker 1: first couple of strikeouts. And the reason I'm bringing this
- 2:42Speaker 1: up at the top of the show, just as we
- 2:43Speaker 1: were also making sure that you were good to go,
- 2:46Speaker 1: is this guy who not long ago we were watching
- 2:48Speaker 1: and going, oh one, this is number one. I could
- 2:50Speaker 1: have this guy start a playoff game for me in
- 2:52Speaker 1: the beginning of a series, and all of a sudden
- 2:54Speaker 1: he's now. The reason I also bring this Upcrats was
- 2:58Speaker 1: Lindor's activated Sega find out booted to the bullpen rightfully,
- 3:01Speaker 1: So he's got a ten plus era in seven starts.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and I would disagree with two things that Todd said.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Everything else I completely agree. I would disagree the Mets
- 3:11Speaker 3: are out of it he said, In no way are
- 3:12Speaker 3: they out of it. The Mets are out of it
- 3:14Speaker 3: in my opinion. And the second thing is what Scott said. Yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 3: you know, he couldn't throw strikes. To me, it didn't
- 3:22Speaker 3: look like he wanted to throw strikes. To me, it
- 3:24Speaker 3: looked like he was afraid of contact. And when he
- 3:28Speaker 3: was I think he was top three cy Young three
- 3:32Speaker 3: years ago, whatever it was he was, he was up there.
- 3:35Speaker 3: He looked like a one. The reason I was afraid
- 3:37Speaker 3: of him not being a one was because a lot
- 3:40Speaker 3: of success was happening at City Field. So I was like, okay,
- 3:44Speaker 3: last night, let's see what Let's see what actually happens.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I was interested in watching that start to see how
- 3:49Speaker 3: it goes. He just didn't. He just he was afraid
- 3:53Speaker 3: of contact in the zone. And I saw why because
- 3:55Speaker 3: once it was in the zone, it was getting whacked.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I don't care what you're throwing. That's that's why you
- 3:59Speaker 3: can't just look at velocity. The hitters will let you know.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, they're picking up the baseball so it's bad for them.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I agree. I think they're gonna be sellers at the
- 4:08Speaker 1: trade deadline. We know one team that's already a very
- 4:10Speaker 1: clear cut seller because they're head of Baseball. Upset it.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Let's get to the Giants.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Let's charge on that out.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You can't be any more clear here. Bob Nightingale with
- 4:21Speaker 1: this tweet. Buster Posey speaking to the media on Tuesday,
- 4:25Speaker 1: confirming two reporters the Giants are open for business at
- 4:28Speaker 1: the trade deadline. They will listen on all of their
- 4:30Speaker 1: big ticket players except for Logan Web. Now, one rival
- 4:34Speaker 1: general manager told Bob Nightingale he still will inquire on
- 4:38Speaker 1: Logan Web to see if most their posing changes his mind.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I could picture that conversation, Kratz. Maybe at some point
- 4:45Speaker 1: we'll do that right where we do the uh, the
- 4:48Speaker 1: little role play with the phone call, like please, Buster,
- 4:51Speaker 1: you've traded everyone else? Although can he trade everyone else?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Because these are some big contracts. Nobody is acquiring devers
- 4:58Speaker 1: without crazy money getting eaten. I mean, it's not like
- 5:01Speaker 1: he's playing poorly, but that's my opinion based off the industry.
- 5:06Speaker 1: The way the industry looks at him right now. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 1: the industry fear, right, like, who who's getting dealt here?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Is it Chapman? They're gonna try and get one guy,
- 5:13Speaker 1: even if they need to eat a little bit of money.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And Chapman's actually playing wins wise, wins buzz replacement towards
- 5:20Speaker 1: what his number is in terms of money per season.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Are you asking who of those big ones are getting
- 5:26Speaker 3: dealt or do I get to pick the easiest ones?
- 5:28Speaker 2: So what's gonna happen?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Okay, you can hit both there. So their teams are
- 5:32Speaker 1: gonna definitely someone's gonna get Ray he was dominant yesterday
- 5:35Speaker 1: and then arise for sure, right, Okay, so paint the
- 5:38Speaker 1: picture what actually happens here with the Giants and who
- 5:40Speaker 1: wants them to me?
- 5:42Speaker 3: I think Chapman goes. I think Chapman goes because of
- 5:46Speaker 3: the fact that when teams are trying to figure out
- 5:49Speaker 3: their value, they're like, Okay, his contract's locked in. He
- 5:52Speaker 3: seems like he's right in the ship after that poor
- 5:56Speaker 3: half a season, and his defense is still there. It's
- 5:59Speaker 3: gonna be a team that values defense at third base.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Not everybody does. Clearly the Blue Jays didn't when they
- 6:06Speaker 3: didn't resign him, because they saw it what the value
- 6:10Speaker 3: he brought, the value he brought to that pitching staff,
- 6:13Speaker 3: and I think I think they missed out on not
- 6:15Speaker 3: resigning him. So I think a team, and I don't
- 6:17Speaker 3: have a team right off the gate, but it has
- 6:19Speaker 3: to be a defensive team. So I think it's just Chapman.
- 6:22Speaker 3: But what I would love to see is possibly the
- 6:25Speaker 3: Giants adding in somebody to be able to get out
- 6:28Speaker 3: of one of those other two contracts because and I
- 6:30Speaker 3: think if that's the case, I think it would be
- 6:32Speaker 3: Deverse and not Chapman, if they would add something in
- 6:36Speaker 3: to like incentivize the team, because Devers into a middle
- 6:39Speaker 3: of a playoff lineup because that's where he'll go. I
- 6:42Speaker 3: don't care any whatever his antics are on the field,
- 6:45Speaker 3: whatever you think of him, He's going to hit you
- 6:47Speaker 3: thirty homers and every playoff team needs thirty and one
- 6:49Speaker 3: hundred from somebody. And if they can add that from
- 6:51Speaker 3: the left side, that would be huge.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, listen, you think about this team. People
- 7:00Speaker 2: talking about, oh, we got Tony Vattela coming in, Uh,
- 7:04Speaker 2: great manager, this and that, and right now this year,
- 7:07Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's gonna pan out this way, but
- 7:10Speaker 2: this year just not going the way they want it,
- 7:13Speaker 2: with all the little problems here and there. You know,
- 7:17Speaker 2: this is a big step for Buster Posy here coming up.
- 7:19Speaker 2: What he really going to do. This is his first
- 7:21Speaker 2: opportunity to figure out who to bring in, who to
- 7:24Speaker 2: let go. I was saying it to you guys before.
- 7:27Speaker 2: This is the big leagues for him now too. He's
- 7:28Speaker 2: back in the bigs man being a GM Big leaguer.
- 7:32Speaker 2: So he's smart, dude, he knows what he's doing. And
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know, you know, here we go. The flame is lit.
- 7:37Speaker 2: We'll see what he wants to do with this team
- 7:39Speaker 2: moving forward.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Crats. Mint Mobile plans still just fifteen bucks a month.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And you're getting a ton from that fifteen dollars.
- 7:51Speaker 1: That's right, And we've talked about this for a while.
- 7:54Speaker 1: It hasn't changed. It's still all there for you. I'm
- 7:57Speaker 1: talking about unlimited talk, text and data, faster realize coverage

- 8:40Speaker 1: Mobile for details.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I would say I would say it's gonna be interesting
- 8:46Speaker 3: because as players todd you know this, we were gms
- 8:49Speaker 3: in the clubhouse. You're winning. You never sat there and
- 8:53Speaker 3: you're winning and go. You know what, I'd love it
- 8:55Speaker 3: if we stayed pat. I was a teams where we
- 8:58Speaker 3: didn't make big moves and we were like, care, this
- 9:00Speaker 3: is the team we're winning with. But before the trade deadline,
- 9:03Speaker 3: everyone's like, we need we need a starter, and then
- 9:07Speaker 3: you're like, why'd you whisper? Because two starters are right
- 9:11Speaker 3: on either side of me. Everybody in the clubhouse knows
- 9:13Speaker 3: who they need. So if you're a playoff team. You
- 9:16Speaker 3: know who you need if you're sucking it up, you
- 9:19Speaker 3: know who needs to get delt and you know who's
- 9:21Speaker 3: most likely not going to be your teammate in the
- 9:23Speaker 3: next month.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yep, we'll see.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Not hearing you of there, Scottie.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But if we hit a remute.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the Ray and or rise will be easy.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Can Ray start a playoff game? Probably a probably? You
- 9:41Speaker 1: don't You don't think he could start game three or four?
- 9:44Speaker 3: Gay, okay, game game four, game four, or I would
- 9:47Speaker 3: even say game three after an off day because of
- 9:51Speaker 3: the fact that his fastball can be you can get
- 9:54Speaker 3: ten punch outs in four innings from them. Or you're like, okay,
- 9:59Speaker 3: we don't want to to see the third time through
- 10:01Speaker 3: the order. So you're talking about you're talking about having
- 10:04Speaker 3: more of a bullpen day if he starts. But right now,
- 10:07Speaker 3: how he's thrown. Yes, he could start game.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Healthy, Yeah throw, Yeah, obviously we know about a rise.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I talk about him too much on this show. Contact first,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but defense second. Now too, that is something that does
- 10:24Speaker 1: change the equation for teams that might look at him
- 10:26Speaker 1: and say, yeah, I don't want to touch that glove.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That's not a thing anymore. He has completely changed, unless
- 10:31Speaker 1: it's just Ron Washington and he has to go to
- 10:33Speaker 1: him for the pregame flips, but I think he's actually changed.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I think he turned a corner defensively and he's going
- 10:38Speaker 1: to be able to carry that somewhere, and I think
- 10:40Speaker 1: it's going to make him a lot more money too
- 10:42Speaker 1: down the line. I mean, we we probably underrate how
- 10:45Speaker 1: much that was hurting him. You know, he doesn't have pop,
- 10:48Speaker 1: We get that, but his offensive game does get on
- 10:51Speaker 1: base enough, and he makes contact and changes things up
- 10:54Speaker 1: for many lineups that are so swing and miss. When
- 10:57Speaker 1: he goes out there and then he can play plus defense,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I think it makes a huge different. And so there's
- 11:01Speaker 1: actually a lot to like with this team. There's probably
- 11:03Speaker 1: a bullpen arm or two, and my thing in general.
- 11:05Speaker 1: We're about to talk to Jim Boden about this. It's
- 11:09Speaker 1: late June. A big market team with a nice sized payroll,
- 11:13Speaker 1: not the highest, but at least mid range to a
- 11:16Speaker 1: little bit higher is waving the towel, waving the white
- 11:19Speaker 1: flag in late June, announcing publicly we're blowing it up,
- 11:24Speaker 1: we're done, we're open for business, we're making deals. That's
- 11:28Speaker 1: pretty telling about what's going on there? Hey, Raphael Devers
- 11:40Speaker 1: said that Sunday's incident when he shoot off the pinch runner,
- 11:43Speaker 1: but eventually went out and was having a tantrum. It
- 11:46Speaker 1: was a misunderstanding. Quote. Two days before that, I told
- 11:48Speaker 1: the manager I had a problem with my hamstring, and
- 11:50Speaker 1: I thought that was the reason he was taking me
- 11:51Speaker 1: out of the game. It just got a little blown
- 11:53Speaker 1: out of proportion and he had a whole rant and
- 11:55Speaker 1: later kind of went on to blame the media. Todd Father,
- 12:00Speaker 1: the media did not create that situation. Tell me I'm wrong,
- 12:03Speaker 1: but this happened on Sunday. He doesn't speak for there's
- 12:07Speaker 1: no talking Sunday. There's no talking Monday. We're on to Tuesday.
- 12:10Speaker 1: We're seventy two hours later. You let this thing boil
- 12:13Speaker 1: in the public sphere. It doesn't matter. There could be
- 12:16Speaker 1: zero media existing in the world, and still the public
- 12:19Speaker 1: sphere is going to talk about it. And you think
- 12:20Speaker 1: the media is tough, Social media is way tougher, and
- 12:24Speaker 1: they're coming up with conspiracy theories and all kinds of reasons.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Why you did that, It's very simple. You were really
- 12:29Speaker 1: good at this in the clubhouse, not just Utah either,
- 12:32Speaker 1: but talking to teammates about what to do in situations.
- 12:34Speaker 1: So talk me through where someone or himself gave advice,
- 12:39Speaker 1: going you know what I'm gonna do. I'm going to
- 12:41Speaker 1: talk now and say the media blows things out of
- 12:43Speaker 1: proportion and that's why everybody thinks I looked like an
- 12:46Speaker 1: ass the other day.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Well, yeah, there's definitely more to this that you know.
- 12:51Speaker 2: There's more on the bone. Meat on the bone is
- 12:53Speaker 2: what they're saying. Listen, if you go to a manager
- 12:56Speaker 2: and you tell them, hey, you know, i'm barking a
- 12:58Speaker 2: little bed, I'm a little sore here my hamstring. What
- 13:02Speaker 2: do you think the manager is going to do in
- 13:03Speaker 2: a situation where they needs somebody to score or you know,
- 13:07Speaker 2: late in the game or whatever it has, They're gonna
- 13:09Speaker 2: bring somebody into pinch run for you. And his attitude
- 13:13Speaker 2: got the best of them there. Give it a little
- 13:14Speaker 2: Roger dorn Man. If you ever seen Major League and
- 13:20Speaker 2: he's stretched in doing all the stretchers. Dorn get in here,
- 13:23Speaker 2: you know. So I'm trying to make fun and have
- 13:26Speaker 2: some fun with this whole situation. But again, yeah, it
- 13:28Speaker 2: was tough to see. But there's more to it that
- 13:32Speaker 2: we're not getting to and I don't think we will.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Maybe it'll come out, But the more we're hearing about
- 13:40Speaker 2: the giants, you know, more everybody's like, I'll bust or
- 13:42Speaker 2: posey should have did this, the manager should have did that,
- 13:46Speaker 2: never should have did this. I think they want all
- 13:49Speaker 2: the stuff just to blow over if you want the truth.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I don't think it's the media's fault. I think anything media,
- 13:57Speaker 2: social media, anything that has media in it, he's going
- 14:00Speaker 2: to say what they please. It doesn't mean it's necessarily
- 14:02Speaker 2: their fault. Everybody has a right to their opinion. But
- 14:05Speaker 2: there's definitely more to this that we're not seeing. I
- 14:08Speaker 2: always think there is in my humble opinion, but yeah
- 14:13Speaker 2: it you know, when when you get subbed for, you
- 14:15Speaker 2: don't want to show your manager up. That That's what
- 14:16Speaker 2: I got out of that one.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I commented on him, arguing, whoever has the hierarchy there?
- 14:24Speaker 3: All that stuff yesterday? To me, the conversation about him
- 14:27Speaker 3: saying the media blows things out of proportion, like one,
- 14:33Speaker 3: he has not been that accountable in the clubhouse to media.
- 14:38Speaker 3: He leaves Sunday after the incident, like so, who cares?
- 14:42Speaker 3: What kind of conversations behind the scenes to me. It's like,
- 14:46Speaker 3: how did he come up through the Red Sox organization
- 14:50Speaker 3: with a Chris Sale during the time that Chris Sale
- 14:53Speaker 3: was really struggling, how available he was. I read different
- 14:58Speaker 3: different Red Sox media people that were like Chris Slee,
- 15:01Speaker 3: Xander Bogart's Pedroia for a little while when they played together,
- 15:05Speaker 3: watching those examples as a young player, as a rookie
- 15:09Speaker 3: and saying that's not how I'm gonna handle it, saying
- 15:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna whatever I do, I'm just not going to
- 15:15Speaker 3: be that media available. It just seems like it was
- 15:19Speaker 3: a choice by him to say, no, you know what,
- 15:22Speaker 3: these guys are out to get me. I'm not gonna
- 15:25Speaker 3: explain myself. And sometimes the best way if you feel
- 15:28Speaker 3: like people are out to get you is to speak
- 15:31Speaker 3: up yourself, like like, disprove what they're saying. If if
- 15:35Speaker 3: the media, if myself, because I'm in the media now,
- 15:39Speaker 3: or Todd he's in the media now, are saying something
- 15:41Speaker 3: as incorrect? Just give a line, Hey, I saw what
- 15:46Speaker 3: you wrote yesterday. Who's somebody in Baggerly? Is he in
- 15:50Speaker 3: San Francisco or Susan Slusser. Susan says something, you know
- 15:55Speaker 3: what I saw what you said yesterday, and this is
- 15:57Speaker 3: what I have to say about it. That's all. That's
- 16:00Speaker 3: all you have to do. And you know what, that
- 16:02Speaker 3: creates a two way street, That creates a narrative that
- 16:05Speaker 3: you feel like you're getting your side out there. And
- 16:08Speaker 3: if you still think they're spinning it, the next day,
- 16:10Speaker 3: you come back and you say, I saw what you wrote.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I saw what you wrote and I don't agree with that,
- 16:17Speaker 3: and they're like, okay, my bed, I shouldn't have written
- 16:19Speaker 3: it like that, or they say tell their side. It's
- 16:22Speaker 3: a it's a two way street that doesn't take fifty
- 16:25Speaker 3: minutes postgame to explain.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, some guys even go to their
- 16:30Speaker 1: own social media. That's fine too, But if you don't
- 16:32Speaker 1: say anything, people are going to run with it. It's that simple.
- 16:35Speaker 1: That's what happens. We already addressed the incident. But yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 1: Todd father, the problem is if you don't say anything yourself,
- 16:42Speaker 1: then people are going to start making things up. And
- 16:44Speaker 1: then you pop up three days later and blame it
- 16:45Speaker 1: on the firestorm that came afterward. You can put that
- 16:49Speaker 1: fire out really quickly, you can. But it also just
- 16:52Speaker 1: doesn't make sense because he had a temper tantrum. So
- 16:54Speaker 1: if it's a misunderstanding, then you also even if he
- 16:57Speaker 1: was healthy as can be right one hundred percent, he's
- 16:59Speaker 1: the hell healthiest man on the planet. He's slow todd
- 17:02Speaker 1: and the guy that was coming out is fast. It's
- 17:05Speaker 1: a one run game. The team's terrible. You need to
- 17:07Speaker 1: score a run. He needs to steal a base or
- 17:09Speaker 1: score on an extra base hit. It's really not hard.
- 17:14Speaker 3: When my puppy Bella has something wrong, I'm not going
- 17:17Speaker 3: to go around googling what to do.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yeah, Kratz, let's have a better plan. Today's episode is
- 17:21Speaker 1: sponsored by the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Program. It offers

- 18:01Speaker 1: underwritten by either Independent American Insurance Company or United States

- 18:09Speaker 1: The ASPCA is not an insurance and is not engaged
- 18:11Speaker 1: in the business of insurance.
- 18:14Speaker 2: So I'm going to go back to example. I craftly said,
- 18:16Speaker 2: talking to media somebody in Cincinnati. They wrote something because
- 18:20Speaker 2: I got thrown out at second base from cesspitus threw
- 18:25Speaker 2: me out in Oakland, and the guy wrote something, well,
- 18:27Speaker 2: Pete Rose would have never done that, and in the article,
- 18:31Speaker 2: and I got him when I got home. I said, hey, man,
- 18:33Speaker 2: I have a conversation with you. You know, I'm curious
- 18:36Speaker 2: why he wrote that. We talked back and forth. I said, listen,
- 18:40Speaker 2: I thought I could beat the throw to second base.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I got thrown out and I said, I made a mistake.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Now for you to say something like that, I was
- 18:45Speaker 2: a little peeved. And you know, Rob Butcher was right there, Bob,
- 18:49Speaker 2: we didn't didn't change words. He said Hey man, you know,
- 18:52Speaker 2: I'm sorry if you felt that way, and we became
- 18:54Speaker 2: really close ever since that time. But you know, you
- 18:57Speaker 2: got to be transparent a little bit with the media
- 19:00Speaker 2: as well. You don't necessarily need to talk to them
- 19:02Speaker 2: all the time. You know, there was days where, you know,
- 19:05Speaker 2: some guys are like Todd. They would come to me
- 19:08Speaker 2: and be like, can you pick me up? I said,
- 19:10Speaker 2: I got you, no worries, And I talked to them like,
- 19:12Speaker 2: oh anybody, I'm like, no, I'll talk them to the
- 19:15Speaker 2: which you know was kind of copping out. But at
- 19:16Speaker 2: the same time, every once in a while guys just
- 19:18Speaker 2: want to be left alone. I get it. But this
- 19:21Speaker 2: kind of incident, you just you go right to them
- 19:24Speaker 2: when they ask a question, get the ten minutes over
- 19:26Speaker 2: with and move on and and and just be honest
- 19:29Speaker 2: about what happened. And guess what, it wouldn't be talked
- 19:31Speaker 2: about again. That's how these things go nowadays. When you're
- 19:35Speaker 2: honest and you make a mistake, people move on rather quickly.
- 19:39Speaker 2: As from what I've been seeing, yep.
- 19:44Speaker 1: And so we have two bits of sound them to
- 19:46Speaker 1: listen to you. Okay, two bits of sound. So let's
- 19:49Speaker 1: start with Devers we'll give you a piece.
- 19:56Speaker 4: You say, people, and I think what it is is
- 19:59Speaker 4: that the median to you guys just blow everything out
- 20:02Speaker 4: of proportion. And I think it's a reflection that I
- 20:05Speaker 4: really don't talk to you guys. I don't talk to
- 20:07Speaker 4: the media. So because I don't talk to the media,
- 20:09Speaker 4: things like this happened. So you guys got to write
- 20:11Speaker 4: everything and try to grow blow everything out of proportion.
- 20:14Speaker 4: I mean, I respect the manager. I didn't need to
- 20:16Speaker 4: be disrespectful to him because I apologize. But it's things
- 20:20Speaker 4: that happen. And you know, I think it's because I
- 20:22Speaker 4: don't talk to the media that you guys you need
- 20:25Speaker 4: the media just want to write something about it, just
- 20:28Speaker 4: blow anything.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Out of proportion. Listen and listen. So in that comment,
- 20:36Speaker 2: he did say I talked to him and I said
- 20:38Speaker 2: I was sorry. So that's what I'm gonna give him
- 20:40Speaker 2: credit for that. Okay, I will give him credit for that.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I know you, I know a lot of people want
- 20:45Speaker 2: to I get it. But that's here's the thing. You're
- 20:51Speaker 2: not him like he They can do what they want,
- 20:53Speaker 2: and I got it. I'm not backing him on the
- 20:55Speaker 2: whole situation. I'm just saying he did come out and
- 20:58Speaker 2: say he did apologize to the manager. I don't agree
- 21:01Speaker 2: with how he just talked about it there, But at
- 21:03Speaker 2: the same time, yeah, he got it off his chest.
- 21:08Speaker 2: He wants to move on. I get it, it was late,
- 21:10Speaker 2: But again I give him credit for at least saying
- 21:12Speaker 2: he did apologize. That's all I'm saying. You can take
- 21:15Speaker 2: that for what it's worth.
- 21:16Speaker 1: No, I agree, that's fine. I mean, we'll give him
- 21:19Speaker 1: like one cookie crumb. But we've gotten it down to this.
- 21:23Speaker 1: My thing is, we've gotten down to this. We're trying
- 21:25Speaker 1: to find something, and we're like, at least he said
- 21:27Speaker 1: sorry for his temper tantrum, Like you know what I'm saying, Todd,
- 21:30Speaker 1: Like I agree.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Like light at the end of the tunnel. That's all. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 2: we've you've all been, we've all been in the shoes.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I said something about an umpire because he made bad
- 21:40Speaker 2: calls uh back in the day against us, and I got,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I got, I got beat up for it, and you
- 21:46Speaker 2: know what it is, what it is. I'm still right
- 21:50Speaker 2: to this day, and I don't care what anybody said.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I'll show you the film. But guess what, I made
- 21:56Speaker 2: a mistake. I probably shouldn't said anything. Everybody's human, but
- 22:01Speaker 2: there was a little light at the end of that
- 22:03Speaker 2: tunnel there, and whether it's a cop out or not,
- 22:06Speaker 2: it is what it is. I honestly think if he
- 22:11Speaker 2: did come out and say it right away like I
- 22:13Speaker 2: said four would, it would have been done from there.
- 22:15Speaker 2: You're right, Scott, You're right. Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 1: And also he's like blaming that he doesn't talk to
- 22:19Speaker 1: the media much on the fact that something happened like that.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Is now we're getting to the borderline insanity kind of answers.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And he looked pissed, right, And I've said this before
- 22:29Speaker 1: on this show. I've known him, I've come across him
- 22:31Speaker 1: quite a few times, not in the last few years,
- 22:33Speaker 1: so I can't speak to his character right now. And
- 22:35Speaker 1: maybe Boston broke him. But now the answers are getting wild,
- 22:39Speaker 1: and that's bad advice behind the scenes or whoever he's
- 22:42Speaker 1: talking to, or if he's coming up with it himself. Kratz. Wait,
- 22:46Speaker 1: imagine if you're sitting there and you're trying to interview
- 22:48Speaker 1: a guy who barely ever speaks to you, and he's saying, well,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you're blown shit out of proportion because you don't hear
- 22:53Speaker 1: from me often. Well, maybe we should hear from you
- 22:55Speaker 1: more often. We're not asking for a lot here, buddy.
- 22:58Speaker 1: One incident pops up and you did supere for a
- 23:00Speaker 1: few days, and you're never really here. And guess what.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I know this part for a fact too. He barely
- 23:04Speaker 1: participated in anything the Red Sox asked him to do.
- 23:07Speaker 1: And again that's fine. They just wanted him to hit
- 23:09Speaker 1: and be a good teammate. This was a very clear
- 23:12Speaker 1: cut case where he was a bad teammate. There's no like,
- 23:16Speaker 1: there's no way to dispute what happened, right, Kratz, even
- 23:18Speaker 1: if he said I'm sorry and I misunderstood the injury part, Like,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you were a bad teammate in this particular case, right
- 23:24Speaker 1: because a pinch runner was trying to come in and
- 23:26Speaker 1: you didn't want him to come in. You were trying
- 23:28Speaker 1: to prevent him. Then you caused a little thing in
- 23:31Speaker 1: the dugout, and then you didn't say anything, so the
- 23:33Speaker 1: rest of your organization had to deal with it for
- 23:35Speaker 1: three days. That is the definition of being an ass Yes.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Wow, you need to be you need to be, but
- 23:42Speaker 3: you need to be a good teammate.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Todd.
- 23:43Speaker 3: There's no I go back, I go back to the
- 23:46Speaker 3: I go back to the Billy Wagner in New York. Yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 3: it was in New York. When he's like, he's like
- 23:52Speaker 3: looking around they're interviewing him, and he's like, why am
- 23:55Speaker 3: I the only Like why am I the one answer
- 23:58Speaker 3: in here? There's other dudes that just bounced out of
- 24:00Speaker 3: here beforehand. Like when you bounce out, when you duck
- 24:03Speaker 3: out because you don't want to talk to the media,
- 24:05Speaker 3: that's fine. Maybe it's one time when you make it
- 24:08Speaker 3: a habit, then it's something that's like, uh, all right,
- 24:13Speaker 3: like you know who they're gonna ask questions. The media
- 24:16Speaker 3: is not just gonna be like, well, RAFFI doesn't want
- 24:18Speaker 3: to talk, Okay, no big deal. We're not going to
- 24:21Speaker 3: We're not even gonna ask anybody. No, it goes to
- 24:23Speaker 3: somebody else. Casey Smith's sitting there like, why are you
- 24:25Speaker 3: asking me about Raffie Devers waving somebody off Jonah Cox,
- 24:29Speaker 3: Why are you asking me? Like I was told to
- 24:31Speaker 3: go run, Like why are you asking me? Like I
- 24:34Speaker 3: wasn't the one that I'd stepped my my bench coach
- 24:37Speaker 3: when he was like, hey, way to be like good job. No,
- 24:40Speaker 3: I don't want any I don't want you to talk
- 24:42Speaker 3: to me like you have to be accountable, not just
- 24:46Speaker 3: for yourself, but also for your teammates.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I'd like I'd like to see I'd like to see
- 24:52Speaker 2: the manager what he what he had to say in
- 24:55Speaker 2: my opinion.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we got we got some an you guys
- 25:00Speaker 1: tell the words. I'm gonna throw to them in one second.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I think Todd father for me. Let's throw to him first,
- 25:09Speaker 1: and then I'll say what I gotta say. Go ahead, God, No,
- 25:11Speaker 1: he came to me.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Obviously we're gonna talk.
- 25:13Speaker 5: He came to me, sat next to each other on
- 25:15Speaker 5: the plane, had a good conversations after that conversation. As
- 25:19Speaker 5: far as the walls behind this one, it's a non issue.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It's kind of like the CHAPPYASCHMIDI thing.
- 25:24Speaker 5: I get it. It's something for you guys to run
- 25:26Speaker 5: with and and talk about. But from this point on,
- 25:30Speaker 5: it's a non issue. It's a good chat we had,
- 25:32Speaker 5: and I went through all the stuff postgame, you know,
- 25:35Speaker 5: base running stuff, hamstring, how well he's done for us,
- 25:38Speaker 5: and the type of teammate he is, you know, in
- 25:41Speaker 5: the type of competitor, how bad he wants to win.
- 25:43Speaker 5: I'm going to go into battle with him anytime. But
- 25:45Speaker 5: if you're rewinded and listen to my comments, it was
- 25:47Speaker 5: a father's day conversation. As a person, the way he
- 25:51Speaker 5: treats my family, in particular my dad, I'll go to
- 25:54Speaker 5: battle with him anytime.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Off the field too. Boom, there you go.
- 25:58Speaker 1: So and then here's Buster or Buster only talking about
- 26:01Speaker 1: Buster Posey saying it makes no sense that Buster Posey
- 26:04Speaker 1: hadn't spoken to Devors about Sunday's incident before meeting with
- 26:06Speaker 1: reporters on Tuesday. We talk about player performing with urgency.
- 26:09Speaker 1: What about urgency for the head of baseball op So Todd.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I'm not just blaming Devors here. Clearly there was a
- 26:15Speaker 1: lack of communication on what the plan was. But then
- 26:17Speaker 1: you disappear for three days, you pop back up and
- 26:20Speaker 1: your main attack plan and response was, Oh, it's the
- 26:25Speaker 1: media's fault. That See, that's what starts grinding me, Like
- 26:29Speaker 1: we have grind, grind?
- 26:32Speaker 2: To do with it?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, to do with it, dude, Like I'm not. I
- 26:36Speaker 1: don't have a tantrum and not let someone smack me
- 26:39Speaker 1: on the on the back like that. You look like
- 26:42Speaker 1: a baby, and you're saying it's our fault. That's pathetic.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I get and you're saying our I love that, like
- 26:47Speaker 2: you're on the team with the media. I love all
- 26:50Speaker 2: that about you.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I am, I know, but because I try and do
- 26:53Speaker 1: a good job of and what time you know what
- 26:55Speaker 1: else pissed me off? I'll tell you all. We're like
- 26:57Speaker 1: we're cooking right. So this is what bothers me because
- 26:59Speaker 1: it's when I knew and I felt like in last
- 27:02Speaker 1: year's situation, I felt like I backed him up Todd,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and I think that RAFFI, Yes, you're not really in
- 27:07Speaker 1: tune with the media. You don't realize how many other
- 27:10Speaker 1: people took your side over the Red Sox, or at
- 27:12Speaker 1: least understood your part of the story when you were
- 27:15Speaker 1: battling with the team and giving benefit of the doubt.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Now you're blaming some of those same people for what
- 27:21Speaker 1: just happened here. That's where you start to lose me.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And I think that's the problem. Is the story re
- 27:25Speaker 1: sparked seventy two hours later because he came out and
- 27:28Speaker 1: involved the media. You know why I are enjoying this
- 27:31Speaker 1: minute because we're happy, krats. We're happy because we're wearing
- 27:34Speaker 1: Mac Weldon.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yes, I'm six with five and nobody can give me
- 27:39Speaker 3: tall clothing, but mack Weldon allows me to have it,
- 27:42Speaker 3: so I don't really have to care about how I look,
- 27:46Speaker 3: and I still look good because I don't put a
- 27:48Speaker 3: lot of time into what I do to pick out
- 27:50Speaker 3: my clothes. Mack Weldon takes care of.

- 28:28Speaker 1: d O N dot com code f O U L.
- 28:32Speaker 2: And I'm gonna be a little harsh here too. But
- 28:34Speaker 2: do you and do you think he cares what you think?
- 28:37Speaker 2: At the end of the day, right, Probably not right.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I mean he just said I out of proportion than yah.
- 28:47Speaker 2: But you I think you're taking us more solely towards
- 28:51Speaker 2: you and his relationship.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Maybe no, no, no, I don't care for me personally.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I'm saying if you're no, no, no, no, I don't care
- 28:58Speaker 1: for me.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I don't keep in touch about the overall landscape of
- 29:01Speaker 2: the media.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I'm saying, like, if you have a job,
- 29:04Speaker 1: let's say, let's let's use Kratz's example, because she's part
- 29:07Speaker 1: of the FT network and she's a star, she's a legend.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Susan Slusser's been covering Bay Area baseball for a long time.
- 29:13Speaker 1: She's great, she's in she's just trying to do her job.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And that's what you did so well. You knew the
- 29:18Speaker 1: people that know to just they're in there every day,
- 29:21Speaker 1: they're accountable, they're taking your quotes, they're putting stuff out
- 29:24Speaker 1: there like that's what Susan does. She's got to deal
- 29:26Speaker 1: with someone like Dever's who's not popping up when you
- 29:29Speaker 1: need him. And then all of a sudden it's her fault, right,
- 29:31Speaker 1: because that's who he's blaming, not her. Specifically, but the
- 29:34Speaker 1: whole group of media there that's just putting out a story,
- 29:37Speaker 1: like what are they supposed to do? Not write about it?
- 29:39Speaker 2: And it could be one or two one or two people,
- 29:41Speaker 2: but he's making it out. So I understand what you're
- 29:45Speaker 2: saying now. So I took two things from this quote.
- 29:47Speaker 2: He said he would go to battle with him every time.
- 29:51Speaker 2: That that kind of buttons it up with me knowing
- 29:55Speaker 2: what what what the manager just said. Listen, I think
- 29:58Speaker 2: he understands. He made a mista. They had a good conversation,
- 30:01Speaker 2: and that's what a good manager should do. He should
- 30:04Speaker 2: talk to his guys on the flights after the games
- 30:06Speaker 2: between the walls. That's great. And he did say run
- 30:10Speaker 2: with it and talk about He talked about the media too.
- 30:12Speaker 2: He want and he understands what the media does too.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Everybody's looking for a story. Everybody's looking for a mishap
- 30:18Speaker 2: or some action or something they can go with. And
- 30:21Speaker 2: when they don't get that right away and it takes
- 30:23Speaker 2: three days, yeah they're going to be a little peeve.
- 30:25Speaker 2: But you know, at the same time, hearing both the
- 30:27Speaker 2: sides from Vitella and and Devors, I think the relationship
- 30:32Speaker 2: is pretty good. Would you guys agree with me or
- 30:34Speaker 2: no on that.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I mean, he doesn't talk to me much, so I
- 30:39Speaker 1: can't comment on it. He doesn't talk to the media much.
- 30:42Speaker 1: But no, no, I mean I get it, you know what, Todd,
- 30:44Speaker 1: And this is where I take your stadle. I know
- 30:46Speaker 1: in the top of the show you were like, Hey,
- 30:48Speaker 1: you know, Vytello's a good manager. He's had a lot
- 30:50Speaker 1: of success in the college ranks. And I do think
- 30:52Speaker 1: that he's been given a pretty difficult situation right now,
- 30:56Speaker 1: like this team's not good enough, it's not a playoff team.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I don't think any manager would make this a playoff
- 31:01Speaker 1: team right now. And now he's got to navigate through
- 31:04Speaker 1: what I think is not being run well. And hey, Kraft,
- 31:07Speaker 1: we've had Posey on this show. I don't know. I
- 31:09Speaker 1: haven't spoken to him since he's taken the job. But
- 31:12Speaker 1: to me, it's a red flag when he has not
- 31:14Speaker 1: spoken to Rafael Devers's he's supposed to be the player
- 31:17Speaker 1: that's in the GM role. To me, that's a prime
- 31:20Speaker 1: spot where you got to talk to him. Why did
- 31:22Speaker 1: Raffie Devers have such a bad divorce with the Red Sox?
- 31:24Speaker 1: According to his side, lack of communication. Shouldn't Buster Posey,
- 31:28Speaker 1: who's like this Hall of Fame superstud and I'm a
- 31:30Speaker 1: big fan for a long time. Shouldn't he have some
- 31:32Speaker 1: conversation with him so they're on the same page.
- 31:35Speaker 3: No, not in this situation. And I'm going to go
- 31:38Speaker 3: the timeline of Sunday. They have a day game in Florida,
- 31:44Speaker 3: so they're in Miami. Buster's clearly wasn't on the trip
- 31:47Speaker 3: or else. I think that conversation may have been had
- 31:49Speaker 3: on the airplane. And I'm just surmising here based on
- 31:53Speaker 3: what Buster only said. He's like, well, you know, he
- 31:55Speaker 3: didn't talk to him all when Buster was interviewed when
- 31:59Speaker 3: Buster or did his interview, because he talked about some
- 32:01Speaker 3: other things too. That was Tuesday, pre game. I don't
- 32:06Speaker 3: think Buster. I mean, who's to say Rafi even made
- 32:09Speaker 3: it to the park. They had an off day Monday.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Who's to say Raffi made it to the park to talk.
- 32:14Speaker 3: I don't think Buster. I don't think Buster Posey is
- 32:18Speaker 3: calling Raffi with a translator so that everything does nothing
- 32:22Speaker 3: gets misconstrued on the phone. On the off day they
- 32:26Speaker 3: have an off day, you respect that off day. So
- 32:28Speaker 3: I don't think that's as big a deal. And maybe
- 32:31Speaker 3: I'm too much of a buster Posey supporter because I
- 32:34Speaker 3: know how he handles things and I know what kind
- 32:36Speaker 3: of person he is. I don't think that's that big
- 32:39Speaker 3: a deal. I know it was blown out proportion, but
- 32:41Speaker 3: I think that conversation happens at some point on Tuesday,
- 32:44Speaker 3: maybe Tuesday after the game we talked. I don't want
- 32:46Speaker 3: to have that conversation pregame when I get to the
- 32:49Speaker 3: park and he gets to the park and we try
- 32:50Speaker 3: to figure it out. I don't think that's as big
- 32:53Speaker 3: of a deal.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Okay, that's fine. See this was good though, because Tod's
- 32:59Speaker 1: Todd loves my cooking a little bit. Because Todd, you
- 33:02Speaker 1: know why I don't. I don't try to get in
- 33:05Speaker 1: the way much on the show. But the one thing
- 33:06Speaker 1: I can comment on media I can I cannot comment
- 33:11Speaker 1: on I can't comment on any of the field not
- 33:13Speaker 1: let you know.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I have my little bit really upset that when people
- 33:17Speaker 2: are not happy with the media.
- 33:19Speaker 1: I've noticed not not happy with the media. It's just like,
- 33:21Speaker 1: after all that, you don't talk for days, and your
- 33:24Speaker 1: answer is it's the media blowing stuff out of proportion.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Like dude, come on, and I would say the same
- 33:29Speaker 1: thing right to his face, and if I see him
- 33:32Speaker 1: at some point, that would be one of the first
- 33:33Speaker 1: topics I would bring up. I don't give a ship right,
- 33:36Speaker 1: I'd be like, dude, what is it? What is the
- 33:38Speaker 1: media doing to you?
- 33:39Speaker 3: Wrong?
- 33:40Speaker 2: Man?
- 33:40Speaker 1: The met half the media was on your side.
- 33:42Speaker 2: When you had to blow. Maybe Slush already said that.
- 33:46Speaker 1: You never know, maybe yeah, But that's all for me.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I just I feel for the reporters out there that
- 33:51Speaker 1: are sitting there with the with the getting the info
- 33:54Speaker 1: and they're like, wait, wait, wait, after all that, it's
- 33:57Speaker 1: our fault now.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Ultimately, ultimately I feel what Scott's saying, and it feels
- 34:02Speaker 3: like Rafi's like like he's like, I can't believe you
- 34:06Speaker 3: guys blew something out of proportion. I know I didn't
- 34:09Speaker 3: talk to you at all, but I can't believe you
- 34:10Speaker 3: blew it out of proportion and didn't write my side
- 34:13Speaker 3: of it. It's almost like it's almost like the people
- 34:15Speaker 3: who like break into somebody's house and then they cut
- 34:19Speaker 3: themselves on one of their glass tables and they're like,
- 34:22Speaker 3: I'm suing you. Wait a minute, you broke into my house,
- 34:24Speaker 3: like this was your fault. We misconstrued this story because
- 34:28Speaker 3: you didn't say anything like let us know what you
- 34:31Speaker 3: were thinking Sunday after the game.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Exactly. That's all for me, Todd. I just throw my
- 34:39Speaker 1: hands up when I hear that. I'm like, what do
- 34:40Speaker 1: you want the reporters in San Francisco to do? Like,
- 34:44Speaker 1: tell me, tell me what you want them to do.
- 34:46Speaker 1: You want them to not write about it, not cover
- 34:48Speaker 1: the sport. Let's have no media outlets at all. Let's
- 34:52Speaker 1: have no fans in the stands, Let's have everybody different free.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Imagine he played for the metsu Yankees. That's going on.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Oh my god, the post would be out the wazoo.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Exactly. It's San Francisco, and I think I think Boston
- 35:03Speaker 1: might have might have. You know how, some guys get
- 35:05Speaker 1: kind of affected by one crazy situation. That was a
- 35:09Speaker 1: lot last year for him, and that might have that
- 35:11Speaker 1: might have shown him a little bit, and so that might.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Have changed posted something. What is going on here?
- 35:19Speaker 1: That Alex Cora threw straight fireballs his way and.
- 35:24Speaker 2: You love that? I don't like that at all. You
- 35:27Speaker 2: love it?
- 35:28Speaker 1: No, no, no, yes, I love it. I love the
- 35:30Speaker 1: petty stuff. But my thing is Todd think about it.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Somebody felt so strongly about the situation who's a professional
- 35:38Speaker 1: in our business for a long time, that they felt
- 35:40Speaker 1: the need to throw that out there and be like, Hey,
- 35:42Speaker 1: those who took one side or the other, I just
- 35:44Speaker 1: want to give you another case of something that is
- 35:46Speaker 1: difficult to deal with if you were a manager like
- 35:47Speaker 1: Tony Vatello. And I thought Alex Cora was trying to
- 35:50Speaker 1: say very subtly, I was dealing with stuff like that
- 35:54Speaker 1: in Boston, and here we are talking about Sea geek
- 35:57Speaker 1: but also talking about games that you should hit up
- 35:59Speaker 1: and krats. We're doing a special one for you this
- 36:02Speaker 1: time around with the Mariners rotation because we did get
- 36:04Speaker 1: the rest of the schedule for the next several days.
- 36:07Speaker 1: We did the whole piggyback in combo. In the first
- 36:10Speaker 1: time around, it didn't go great, right, Bryce Miller was dealing,
- 36:15Speaker 1: They pulled him after not a ton of pitches, and
- 36:18Speaker 1: then eventually Castillo didn't pitch as well, and they lost
- 36:21Speaker 1: the game of the Red Sox. They lost that series
- 36:23Speaker 1: last weekend. This coming weekend, well, let's do two things
- 36:27Speaker 1: here and then go back to the other one for me, Clint.
- 36:29Speaker 1: But let's start here asked if it was difficult to
- 36:31Speaker 1: piggyback Logan Gilbert considering how well he's pitching right now.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Dan Wilson, manager of the Mariners, replied, we've talked about it,
- 36:37Speaker 1: this group doing this for the time or doing this
- 36:40Speaker 1: for the team, and what that means for the team
- 36:42Speaker 1: and why we're doing it. I think Logan understands that,
- 36:44Speaker 1: we all understand that. I think we'll be fine. That
- 36:46Speaker 1: was Ryan divish with the tweet, and then go back
- 36:48Speaker 1: to the other one so I can lay up the
- 36:49Speaker 1: schedule for the people. The next piggyback situation will occur
- 36:53Speaker 1: on Saturday, and that is Logan Gilbert, who eventually will
- 36:55Speaker 1: get cut short if he's rolling, because it will be
- 36:58Speaker 1: time for Emerson Hands to get his pitches. Now, that's
- 37:02Speaker 1: one maybe that you want to hit up Kratz. Those
- 37:04Speaker 1: are two really good pitchers. You get a two. It's
- 37:06Speaker 1: kind of a two for one on seakiek. You get
- 37:08Speaker 1: Logan Gilbert and Emerson Hancock, two guys that deserve to
- 37:11Speaker 1: just be starting their own games. So my question is
- 37:14Speaker 1: if they lose that one and they're zero and two
- 37:15Speaker 1: in these spots, are they going to keep doing this
- 37:18Speaker 1: or Eventually, do you get to a point where you're like, like,
- 37:20Speaker 1: what if Logan Gilbert is on fire and he's through
- 37:24Speaker 1: five hitless innings or six hitlessenning whatever they're doing for
- 37:27Speaker 1: him right probably five hitless innings, Like what do you do?
- 37:32Speaker 3: Games compound on each other. And the fact that Luis Castillo,
- 37:36Speaker 3: who was the one that, as the kids say, sold
- 37:39Speaker 3: the last time they did the piggyback, he's pitching the
- 37:43Speaker 3: night before, so games compound. Dan Wilson has to sit
- 37:46Speaker 3: there and go, Okay, if Luis Castillo is hurting a
- 37:50Speaker 3: little bit, he's not doing not hurting, but if he's
- 37:53Speaker 3: not doing well the night before, you have a you
- 37:56Speaker 3: have a piggyback situation. You could sit there and say,
- 38:00Speaker 3: all right, well I don't even really need my bullpen
- 38:02Speaker 3: for tomorrow night, and he may pull Luis Castillo early.
- 38:06Speaker 3: So that could be a positive or a negative. But
- 38:08Speaker 3: then when you get into it and you say, okay,
- 38:10Speaker 3: Gilbert chilling. He's doing exactly what Bryce Miller did last time,
- 38:14Speaker 3: and he's got like sixty five pitches through five innings. Sorry,
- 38:19Speaker 3: I know you probably could go nine here, you could
- 38:21Speaker 3: probably go eight, but we're gonna take you out and
- 38:24Speaker 3: then you end up losing it. It's gonna come into question,
- 38:28Speaker 3: not just in the manager, not just from the organization,
- 38:31Speaker 3: but each of those pitchers, each of those pictures that
- 38:33Speaker 3: everybody has said, Oh, they all agreed to it. Oh Logan,
- 38:36Speaker 3: he agreed to this.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Oh.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Bryce Miller, he agreed to this as a group. They
- 38:41Speaker 3: did it as a team. It'll help. It'll come into
- 38:44Speaker 3: question if it happens the way it happened again and
- 38:46Speaker 3: it's not necessarily Castillo's fault, and if it happens again
- 38:49Speaker 3: this time, it's not necessarily Hancock's fault. It's just situations.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Guys are not used to being in.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yep, different, it's just friend to me. I don't know.
- 39:03Speaker 2: I'm not sure how to take this one because this
- 39:06Speaker 2: was like the always talked about them being the best
- 39:10Speaker 2: starting rotation in the league and stuff. So what are
- 39:13Speaker 2: they trying to do here? They're trying to reinvent a wheel.
- 39:16Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. This is we'll see.
- 39:18Speaker 2: It's a wait and see process here.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and if you want to see it in person,
- 39:23Speaker 1: then seakeek is just spot Okay, ten percent of tickets
- 39:27Speaker 1: territory ten it's going to be a good well weekend.

- 39:36Speaker 1: the code's there for you. Ten percent off tickets with
- 39:38Speaker 1: the promo code Territory one zero. Click the link of
- 39:40Speaker 1: the description download the app if you have it already.
- 39:43Speaker 1: The code can be applied automatically to your account, so
- 39:46Speaker 1: you can use it later or you can use it
- 39:47Speaker 1: right away. But grab some seats to a ballgame. It's
- 39:50Speaker 1: nice out.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 1: We got like five minutes so, and there were a
- 40:03Speaker 1: few things I didn't get to with you guys. So
- 40:05Speaker 1: first off, I was talking about it on the last segment,
- 40:07Speaker 1: but Kratz, oh my gosh, two outs bottom nine and
- 40:12Speaker 1: the or top nine, right, and the Phillies went off
- 40:16Speaker 1: top nine. The Phillies got off in DC. Nats fans
- 40:20Speaker 1: were like, all right, let's go. We got the Phillies.
- 40:22Speaker 1: We took them down, and then they scored eight runs
- 40:24Speaker 1: in a row with two outs that all ten guys
- 40:27Speaker 1: in a row reached. Wait, wait and get this top
- 40:30Speaker 1: father Kyle Schwarber's back locked up ten minutes before the game.
- 40:34Speaker 1: He probably was watching them, like hold up, let me
- 40:37Speaker 1: go grab, let me go get a couple more dollars
- 40:40Speaker 1: on my way to sixty this year. I mean, they
- 40:43Speaker 1: were they were in that you know sometimes you guys
- 40:45Speaker 1: say that hitting is contagious, you getting a flow in
- 40:47Speaker 1: a rhythm like it felt like that where they were
- 40:49Speaker 1: just like, guys, we're feeling it, and there was just
- 40:52Speaker 1: some energy to that little run.
- 40:54Speaker 3: He came to me. Obviously it was percent It was
- 40:57Speaker 3: one of those things that it actually started in the
- 40:59Speaker 3: top of the eighth inning when jt Romuto hit a
- 41:03Speaker 3: fly ball foul just over the fence, foul and James
- 41:07Speaker 3: Wood had it. James Wood had it ticked off his
- 41:10Speaker 3: glove came to stayed alive, and then James Wood had
- 41:14Speaker 3: his double, had j. T Romuto's double with the bases
- 41:18Speaker 3: loaded in his glove and it rolled out and that's
- 41:20Speaker 3: how they got ahead. And I mean it was that game. Yes,
- 41:25Speaker 3: the Phillies had some issues offensively. They can't just wait
- 41:28Speaker 3: for the underbelly of the bullpen because they're gonna get
- 41:33Speaker 3: They're gonna get cooked in the postseason. But there's a
- 41:36Speaker 3: long way away from the postseason. And Kyle Schwarber, I
- 41:39Speaker 3: guarantee he was the first one given. Dudes high five
- 41:42Speaker 3: when you come up that long staircase in NAT's Park
- 41:47Speaker 3: and they were probably like, hey, wait to stay out
- 41:49Speaker 3: of that one. Appreciate your schwarps. We don't even need you.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Mundo Sosa is gonna be our DH who hit a
- 41:54Speaker 3: dinger in that game too.
- 41:57Speaker 1: That's good, Jason Stark. Note for you Todd father. Before
- 42:02Speaker 1: the Phillies, no team had trailed with two outs in
- 42:04Speaker 1: the ninth and then scored eight runs or more to
- 42:07Speaker 1: win in almost forty years. Last time it was done
- 42:09Speaker 1: nineteen eighty eight Royals. They did it against Mitch Williams.
- 42:14Speaker 2: It's been a strikes.
- 42:16Speaker 3: They were down to two strikes. Dude, Turner had two
- 42:18Speaker 3: strikes on him before before all that stuff happened.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Crazy, that's nuts. That's that's the game for you. Two
- 42:25Speaker 1: more things from yesterday and then we'll get out of here.
- 42:28Speaker 1: For the Cubs, just quick injury note. Edward Cabrera injured
- 42:32Speaker 1: lists left hamstring strain. He did the big split yesterday
- 42:35Speaker 1: in that game. Will win for the Cubs over the Mets,
- 42:37Speaker 1: but they lose him weight and they just lost Ben
- 42:40Speaker 1: Brown to the injured list as well. Two more starters
- 42:43Speaker 1: for the Cubs go down. I mean, it's getting nuts
- 42:45Speaker 1: for this team. We talked yesterday about Justin Steele's probably
- 42:47Speaker 1: only going to be limited to a reliever if he's
- 42:50Speaker 1: able to get back later this year. But for Ben
- 42:52Speaker 1: Brown it's a next stream retroactive to June twenty first,
- 42:55Speaker 1: a few days ago. So they're losing a ton of
- 42:59Speaker 1: arms there to need reinforcements that they're going to stay
- 43:01Speaker 1: in the wild card race. And lastly, Todd Father, we
- 43:05Speaker 1: didn't have you on yesterday, so I just wanted to
- 43:06Speaker 1: get your one minute take on mister lollipop Jazz Chisholm,
- 43:10Speaker 1: who uh apparently is now allowed. I didn't really understand, like,
- 43:16Speaker 1: was Boone just being sarcastic because he said it pissed
- 43:19Speaker 1: him off. Then then he was like making a whole
- 43:21Speaker 1: deal out of the lollipops in the game. He had
- 43:23Speaker 1: the big homer, so they had fun with it, which
- 43:26Speaker 1: I like. But Jazz, they told him it was a
- 43:30Speaker 1: safety thing. Would you would you be okay with besides
- 43:33Speaker 1: that Jazz Chisholm playing with a lollipop on the field.
- 43:36Speaker 2: I would I was very confused, you know that's all?
- 43:39Speaker 2: What you know, what are you doing with a lollipop
- 43:42Speaker 2: in your mouth on the field. That's that's the first.
- 43:46Speaker 2: I'm sure there was a lot of conversations. I would
- 43:48Speaker 2: have a conversation about, yo, dude, what are we doing here?
- 43:50Speaker 2: You know? But they made you know, Boneye doesn't like
- 43:54Speaker 2: the controversy, man, I've watched his interviews. He doesn't like it,
- 43:58Speaker 2: but he you know, he said, his just another one
- 44:02Speaker 2: of those things. Well, just I don't know what what
- 44:04Speaker 2: are you doing out there? Take the lollipop out, put
- 44:06Speaker 2: it to the side, and take it back when you're
- 44:08Speaker 2: give him the dugout. So it's Jazz being jazz.
- 44:13Speaker 5: Man.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I don't know what else to say on that remark.
- 44:16Speaker 3: What's your favorite? What's your favorite? Blowpop?
- 44:21Speaker 2: What is it? Green Apple? Right? Isn't green apple one?
- 44:24Speaker 1: That's Jazz's favorite? That's Crats his favorite. All right, we
- 44:28Speaker 1: got jazz talking here.
- 44:29Speaker 2: He is our apple?
- 44:30Speaker 4: Yeah, sh nothing, He's just like, you know, we just
- 44:34Speaker 4: rather you be safe than you know, hurt yourself, ball
- 44:37Speaker 4: hit at you, you swallow it or get choked up.
- 44:39Speaker 3: And you know that was basically all mostly it. But
- 44:42Speaker 3: just keep having fun would be safe, so you couldn't
- 44:45Speaker 3: be just holding up the double.
- 44:48Speaker 2: No, I couldn't resist it. My teammates were ragging me on.
- 44:50Speaker 2: That's what it was. My teammates were screaming.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Yeah, get him with lollipop, and you know, like you know,
- 44:56Speaker 1: it was just fun.
- 44:56Speaker 2: We just had a lot of fun.
- 44:59Speaker 1: That part's fun. I like that. So you had a
- 45:00Speaker 1: little moment, you got in a little trouble, and now
- 45:02Speaker 1: the teammates are making fun of you, and then they're
- 45:04Speaker 1: playing Lollipopy Lil Wayne in the clubhouse after the game,
- 45:07Speaker 1: like the full three sixty experience there from the Yanks
- 45:11Speaker 1: and Kratz hats. Show your hat and then I'll show
- 45:15Speaker 1: you something you'll like.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Easy peasy. We have not a doubt, not a doubt
- 45:21Speaker 3: anybody can. It matches all my shoes, so I know
- 45:24Speaker 3: Todd's got some Jay's that matched this color.
- 45:27Speaker 2: So that's how we right. I just got a new
- 45:30Speaker 2: pair for Father's Day.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Oh hey, we had a thirty one year old debut
- 45:36Speaker 1: and he got through a scoreless inning. So look what
- 45:40Speaker 1: they did on the field. After the game, he's taking
- 45:42Speaker 1: pictures with the fam and they put welcome to the
- 45:47Speaker 1: show on the screen while they're taking the pictures. That's cool,
- 45:50Speaker 1: that's that's very classy, that's very pro out there in Cincinnati. Krats,
- 45:55Speaker 1: I know you love all that stuff.
- 45:58Speaker 2: I love it.
- 45:59Speaker 3: I love it any time you grind like that to
- 46:01Speaker 3: make it to the big leagues. And he is a grinder.
- 46:04Speaker 3: He didn't grind, he is a grinder, and hey, it's tough, tasty.
- 46:08Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys saw his outing. I
- 46:10Speaker 3: get it. He wasn't he wasn't perfect. You had a
- 46:11Speaker 3: little bit of outfield outfield misplay for the guy. But
- 46:16Speaker 3: it looks legit. It looks legit. So I'm excited to
