  Speaker 1: of 2 Peter in the Bible, and every day we

  Speaker 1: like to come and look at something in the Bible

  Speaker 1: and say, God, what are you saying to us? What

  Speaker 1: are you saying to me personally through this passage? Uh,

  Speaker 1: this week we're talking about a part of the Bible

  Speaker 1: that talks about the end of time.

  Speaker 1: When God comes and is going to wind up this broken,

  Speaker 1: fallen universe so full of hatred and injustice and all
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: the things that just grieve us in life, God's going
• 0:42
  Speaker 1: to wrap it all up. He's going to come and
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: say it's closing time, and then He's going to hold
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: this world accountable for how we've responded to Him and
• 0:54
  Speaker 1: how we've dealt with the things He left us to do.

  Speaker 1: Well, yesterday we saw in this chapter that there's always
• 1:02
  Speaker 1: going to be scoffers who say, well, he's never coming back.

  Speaker 1: Jesus isn't going to return. God's never going to do
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: all those things. Everything just keeps on going just like
• 1:12
  Speaker 1: it always has.

  Speaker 1: And they're going to face a surprise when God does
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: wind this all up one day. And Peter says then,
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: starting in verse 8, but do not overlook this one fact, beloved.

  Speaker 1: That with the Lord one day is as 1000 years
• 1:34
  Speaker 1: and 1000 years as one day.

  Speaker 1: The Lord is not being slow to fulfil His promise
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: to return as some count slowness.

  Speaker 1: Rather, he is patient toward you, not wishing that any
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: should perish, but that all should reach repentance. Here's why
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: God hasn't wrapped up this world yet. Here's why things
• 2:00
  Speaker 1: just seem to be keeping on going, and we wonder
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: why does God let all the injustice continue? Why does
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: God let, uh, evil people continue to hurt other people?
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: Why doesn't God just wrap it all up now?
• 2:15
  Speaker 1: Well, here's why. Because when that day comes that God
• 2:19
  Speaker 1: wraps it all up, that's it. There's no more chances
• 2:23
  Speaker 1: for people to make their life right with God, to
• 2:27
  Speaker 1: turn their life around and say, God, please forgive me. I,
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: I need what Jesus did for me at the cross
• 2:34
  Speaker 1: to make a way for me to be forgiven. I
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: need that. I want to trust in you, to change
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: my life and make it what you want it to be.

  Speaker 1: There'll be no more chance for people to do that.
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: There will only be people's ultimate accountability to the God
• 2:52
  Speaker 1: who made them and loved them and who they rejected
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: and pushed out of their lives or whom they embraced
• 2:58
  Speaker 1: and put their faith in.

  Speaker 1: And God wants to give time for more and more
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: people to turn to Him to realise how much He
• 3:10
  Speaker 1: loves them. Have you ever realised that in your life,
• 3:14
  Speaker 1: that God loves you so deeply?
• 3:17
  Speaker 1: So much so that he's willing to put up with
• 3:20
  Speaker 1: all this junk that's going on in the world to
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: give people more time to turn to him and allow
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: him to become the centre of their lives. The Lord
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: is not slow to fulfil His promise to return as
• 3:35
  Speaker 1: some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

  Speaker 1: So as a Christian.
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: When you think about that.
• 3:52
  Speaker 1: Who is there around you who needs to encounter God,
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: who needs to reach repentance? Do you realise that God
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: is waiting before He returns until those people have found Him?

  Speaker 1: That means it's so important for you as a Christian
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: to just be open about your relationship with God, to
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: share with people who are interested, because they need to
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: encounter God as well.
• 4:19
  Speaker 1: They need to know his love for them and what
• 4:21
  Speaker 1: a difference he makes in their lives. Don't hold back.
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: Don't be embarrassed. Just talk openly about your love for
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: God and what God means to you, and you will
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: be a part of what will bring Jesus back sooner.
