  Hello, and welcome to today's episode entitled

  obedience opens every door.

  I wanna talk about it from today's scripture,
• 0:38
  John fourteen twenty three,
• 0:40
  where it says, Jesus replied,
• 0:42
  because I will only reveal myself to those
• 0:45
  who love me and obey
• 0:47
  me. The father will love them too,
• 0:50
  and we will come to them and live
• 0:52
  with him.
• 0:55
  Now
• 0:56
  one of the chapters in my book, Kneeling

  a prayer devotional

  has a chapter called
• 1:06
  the blessing is in obedience.

  Now why do I say that?
• 1:11
  Because the scripture tells us,
• 1:15
  God told the people of Israel, if you
• 1:17
  love me, obey my commandments.
• 1:21
  There was a condition.
• 1:23
  We often associate love with
• 1:26
  physical or emotional things,
• 1:28
  but the scripture is talking about it
• 1:31
  as an act of obedience.
• 1:35
  Now we often if you're a parent, we
• 1:38
  get a little frustrated with our children when
• 1:40
  our children don't obey
• 1:44
  and inflict consequence on them because of them
• 1:47
  being disobedient.
• 1:49
  But consider the fact that
• 1:51
  God being the perfect parent has guidelines
• 1:55
  to how he wants us to act and
• 1:57
  approach him also,
• 1:59
  but
• 2:01
  much more than a natural parent,
• 2:03
  he wants to build and enhance the relationship
• 2:08
  in many ways that we would have never
• 2:10
  even thought of.

  Obedience isn't about rules.
• 2:14
  To God, it's about relationship.
• 2:18
  He gives us a template and a guideline
• 2:22
  to what holy living looks like.
• 2:25
  What does it mean to bear the name
• 2:28
  of the divine one?
• 2:32
  Well,
• 2:33
  it's about trusting God enough to say yes
• 2:36
  Even when the path isn't clear,
• 2:39
  it's about standing up for things
• 2:43
  we know to do right, even if it's
• 2:45
  an uncomfortable place and requires courage,
• 2:48
  which by the way, God will have to
• 2:50
  provide because in times like that, it will
• 2:54
  test you
• 2:55
  and to what you believe or reveal what
• 2:59
  you don't believe.

  Many of our blessings in our lives are
• 3:03
  waiting on the other side of obedience.
• 3:06
  Jesus told his disciples, everything I do, I
• 3:09
  only do it because
• 3:11
  the father has instructed me.
• 3:13
  When he gave them the Lord's prayer,
• 3:16
  he opened the prayer up with, our father
• 3:19
  who is in heaven, holy is your name.

  Your kingdom come,
• 3:24
  your will be done.
• 3:26
  It's never about us.
• 3:28
  It's always about the will of the father.

  We're only the conduit or the servant that
• 3:33
  he uses when we give him our yes.

  Your next step

  might feel small, or maybe it feels daunting,
• 3:45
  but small obedience creates big breakthroughs.

  If he can trust you with a little
• 3:53
  in obedience,
• 3:55
  then he'll give you more.

  I talk about God isn't looking for perfection.

  He's looking for a willing heart. But can

  I tell you that when you walk in

  obedience, you will achieve perfection?

  Because it puts you in
• 4:13
  a correct heart posture.

  It says,

  Lord,

  even though I don't understand, I still follow.

  I often liken it to
• 4:25
  being in the military.
• 4:28
  Now I myself have never been in the
• 4:29
  military, but I do know enough
• 4:32
  that

  you have a soldier and you have a
• 4:35
  commanding officer, and the commanding officer
• 4:38
  tells the soldier what it is they want
• 4:40
  them to do, and the soldier
• 4:42
  is not allowed
• 4:44
  to talk back.
• 4:46
  They take the detail the the commanding officer
• 4:49
  gives and replies with, yes, sir, yes, ma'am,
• 4:54
  and
• 4:55
  goes
• 4:56
  about fulfilling whatever the task is that they
• 4:58
  were given.

  So consider

  when you obey
• 5:05
  heaven aligns,
• 5:08
  peace increases,
• 5:10
  and the purpose for God in your life

  will become clearer.

  It's about prayer.
• 5:18
  It's about applying his word.
• 5:21
  And it's about
• 5:22
  remembering
• 5:23
  that
• 5:25
  obedience
• 5:26
  is the key that opens every door.
