- 0:00Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and welcome to another episode
- 0:05of United Church of Tonga Youth Devotion.
- 0:08Our Bible reading for today is taken from the book of James, chapter 1, verse 17.
- 0:15It says, Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father
- 0:22of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
- 0:27Our theme, our God, the giver of perfect gifts.
- 0:32God is good, and everything he's done and created is good.
- 0:37He chose to make man in his own perfect image.
- 0:41Some may think that when man went against God, he would rearrange his plan to
- 0:47govern us and all his creator.
- 0:50But God is gracious. He is simply the finisher of every flawless gift and the
- 0:57author of all good things.
- 0:59As a gift of His grace and a demonstration of His kindness, the One who formed
- 1:06us from the dust of the earth devised a plan to restore the joy of our redemption.
- 1:12The character of God remains unchanged throughout time and into eternity.
- 1:18He is the generous giver of all good things, shining his light of love and purity upon us.
- 1:29Despite our faults, he will never leave nor forsake us, as it says in Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 8.
- 1:39He is our heavenly father of yesterday, today, and forever.
- 1:46There's no greater love shown than giving us His one and only Son to die on the cross for us.
- 1:55So how could we ever doubt that He'll fulfill His plans and purpose for us?
- 2:02He is the unchangeable God, eternally consistent in His goodness and love for
- 2:09us, never falls short in His promises,
- 2:14and never changes in His character.
- 2:18God is forever.
- 2:21Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, I thank and praise You for being my forever
- 2:27unchanging God and provider.
- 2:31Even though I sin against You and I live in a world full of confusion,
- 2:36may I never become too comfortable and believe that I am the source of my blessings,
- 2:44but instead remember to constantly give you praise and all my gratitude. Amen.
