- 0:45Welcome back to the boundary Corner podcast.
- 0:49My name is Curtis Wilson. I'm Brian seagull.
- 0:52How you doing buddy? Dude, I am good.
- 1:00I'm good back from vacation, been kind of working my way back
- 1:05into the swing of things after a few days in the mountains, it
- 1:09was. It was a nice break, though.
- 1:11It was very nice. Break, got to relax a little
- 1:16bit, do a couple fun things. Nothing too major.
- 1:19What about you, man? Just same old, same old man,
- 1:22taking another Friday off which I think.
- 1:24I now I've got to go back and look.
- 1:27I think I have to take one more day.
- 1:28Also, I think the only other Friday between now and
- 1:31Christmas. I'm now going to be taking off.
- 1:35So, you know, shortly short weeks from here on out because
- 1:39you yourself just got a nice short week and at the end of the
- 1:42year, it's kind of nice to have to look forward to a day off
- 1:45like every week, right? That's always nice.
- 1:49It's a good feeling. Yeah.
- 1:51I've been doing the like a day or two a week in the office and
- 1:54three days at home. So it's been kind of a mixed
- 1:57match here. For a while.
- 1:59But you know, it'll be, it'll be nice at some point to get back
- 2:02into the regular group. But for now, I'll take heavy
- 2:05Mondays and Fridays at my house. So the commute, especially the
- 2:09Friday's after, you know, recording on Thursday nights,
- 2:13watching the Collegiate, game, watching the program game, you
- 2:18know, for your while they're watching baseball.
- 2:21It was like I'm sure you were like, this is good.
- 2:23If I stay up to midnight in a sleep in, I could still win.
- 2:28Wake up at 7:15, get in the shower and be ready to work.
- 2:32My 7:35. Let's do it.
- 2:37That's the plan man. As long as I got 20 minutes till
- 2:41I get my head wet and throw on some clothes, man.
- 2:45That's all I need brush my teeth into Major G.
- 2:50Major. So let's get to it, man.
- 3:21We're hobnob in here. Having a good time on Thursday
- 3:23night, back to know your enemy this week, the enemy the Wake
- 3:29Forest, Demon Deacons coming in to and to coming off a 17 point
- 3:35win over UVA. Their only other win this year,
- 3:38is over Campbell with losses to NC State and Clemson.
- 3:44Now, you know, a lot of interesting pieces is me and
- 3:48Brian we're doing the research this week and you know, some
- 3:51some expected things some unexpected things.
- 3:54So I'm going to click off with the one thing that I kind of
- 3:56didn't see coming, Wake Forest has one of the better rushing
- 4:00offenses in the ACC and kind of solid in the country ranking
- 4:0541st overall. 165 yards, a game at 3.88 carry or per carry with
- 4:1213 touchdowns. Now of the 13 touchdowns Grand
- 4:17good stout of the day here. 12 of them have been in the Red
- 4:21Zone, okay, which is number three in the country for Red
- 4:26Zone. Touchdowns they're led by number
- 4:29nine. Kenneth Walker who is ranking as
- 4:31the 20s number 23 rusher in the country at Ours, through four
- 4:37games with seven touchdowns. That's fourth in the country
- 4:42drinks 30th in yards per carry it. 5.7 to wake was his only P5
- 4:48offer for this to Star. You know, he continues to build
- 4:53from a strong session year of five hundred seventy nine yards.
- 4:57Now, you would think that's really good for Wake Forest.
- 5:00Well, they actually have a second really good running back
- 5:03as well. Put up some good numbers,
- 5:05Christian Bill, Smith number 26 3 star, he's local 2336 out of
- 5:10East, Forsyth High School, so far, 256 yards, rushing this
- 5:14year 4.44 rush and getting in four touchdowns now Brian, you
- 5:20know, Walker UVA game last week, you probably saw the play that
- 5:24big 75 yard run for a touchdown real game breaker.
- 5:28Bill with the pretty nice longest run this year, 31 yards.
- 5:31Now Bryan as you started looking at the tape with these two guys
- 5:35on the Russian attack with this. Kind of mesh Russian attack.
- 5:39You know what are you seeing? You know, these guys the same or
- 5:42they little different. Definitely different styles
- 5:49Walker, I'll be you talked about him.
- 5:51He's but he's busting the big runs and he is a guy that he is
- 5:57very patient in the backfield, he lets the blocks develop, he
- 6:01lets the linebackers get a fit and then Makes his move makes
- 6:08his decision of where he wants to go with the football.
- 6:10So what that ends up doing is that, you know, occasionally
- 6:13he'll have a big - play because he's in the backfield with no
- 6:18forward momentum. But when things go the way he
- 6:22wants them to, he'll get an ally, especially if those
- 6:25linebackers over-pursue. While he's dancing around in the
- 6:28back, fill all of a sudden, you got an ally and all he has to
- 6:32really do is make a safety Miss and he's Off to the Races there
- 6:35and that's what happened against UVA on that long.
- 6:37Touchdown run. So he's the guy that's kind of
- 6:40going to make things happen. Wait it out and then burst
- 6:44through the hole and try to get a big Gainer Bill Smith is a
- 6:47little different. He's going to read though that
- 6:51long mesh a little bit quicker, he's not going to kind of stand
- 6:54in the backfield. He's going to kind of get to
- 6:57where his point of attack is. And then once he reads the
- 7:01block, so he's kind of more of a one cut and kind of gets up in
- 7:04there so he's more Point in terms of not having any - plays.
- 7:11But he's not the guy that's busting the big Gamers as often
- 7:16as Walker. So kind of different styles,
- 7:20Bill Smith's the guy that's going to kind of you know, he's
- 7:23the jabber and Walkers kind of the guy that's throwing the
- 7:26Haymakers, which one worries you more against a defense, not any
- 7:32against our defense, definitely Walter.
- 7:35Okay, Walker Me more, he breaks, more tackles, and because of his
- 7:42patience, and because of some of the problems we've had with run
- 7:45fit so far. Yeah.
- 7:48And some and some safety. Tackling obviously, some of
- 7:51those didn't have our Frontline guys, but, but some of those
- 7:55things, definitely worried me. In terms of, you know, we want
- 7:59to contain some of those big runs especially after what we
- 8:02saw against another different style or po but also Carpio
- 8:07rushing attack from UNC. So definitely watch out for
- 8:11Walker. But don't sleep on Bill Smith
- 8:13either. Got it.
- 8:16Now also want to talk about you know, obviously we won't talk
- 8:20about the passing game here. Let's talk about Sam Harmon, you
- 8:22know, Hartman was a starter, his freshman year, the team finished
- 8:25seven and six last year, obviously he was unseated by
- 8:29Jamie Newman but he did play some.
- 8:32So essentially over his first two years, he was in 13 games
- 8:35where he threw for, you know, twenty eight hundred yards, 20,
- 8:38touchdowns 10 interceptions. So he's coming in with
- 8:41significant experience. Yeah, this isn't typically what
- 8:45you do. Have a redshirt sophomore with.
- 8:46That's this. Many games played now Bond so
- 8:50far. This year, 893 yards, passing 62
- 8:55percent completion, kind of solidarity, but he's only passed
- 8:58for three touchdowns with no interceptions.
- 9:02The one thing I find really interesting is he is a top 15 in
- 9:07passport completion, at 14.4, it's almost 9:00 at per attempt.
- 9:12So I'm going to kind of ask you in a sec.
- 9:15And what you, what? You're seeing, he's not putting
- 9:17up crazy numbers, but he seems to be getting them in a position
- 9:20to score. Based off the red zone.
- 9:22Rushing numbers clearly, his favorite Target is to crash
- 9:26Roberson. The six 182 Redshirt wide
- 9:30receiver consensus, three store out of North Carolina. 20
- 9:33receptions 314 yards that ranks 37th in the country.
- 9:38So pretty good 15.7 per catch. Now yard wise he is Head and
- 9:44Shoulders above. Of the other guys on the team
- 9:48but couple guys are I would say relatively close to him and you
- 9:52know, reception wise, Taylor Moran, has 15 or sections in 80
- 9:56Perry has 13 in other Moran, has more yards.
- 10:00I just want to hit on Perry real quick because if here is a six
- 10:03foot five, 212 pounds receiver When that kind of build got 194
- 10:10yards right at 15 per catch. I seen his eyes.
- 10:13I think about our secondary, I feel like beating potential
- 10:16mismatches there. That worries me a little bit.
- 10:18Now morning is from Nova out of Centerville.
- 10:24You know, five ten hundred seventy four is the leader of
- 10:28the team with two touchdown catches, 197 yards, you know.
- 10:34Brian mean you talked about it a little earlier this week but
- 10:37they I really don't use the tight ends and the running bag
- 10:40is part of the path. When attack.
- 10:42So Brian is you started breaking down.
- 10:45What do they like to do? What is, you know, the things we
- 10:48need to be looking out for where they're hitting, it's like,
- 10:51they're finding their groove in this offense.
- 10:54So I mean, I'm going to go back to it.
- 10:57The offense tends to go as the success of that long mesh RPO
- 11:03goes. So what, you know, whether it's
- 11:06the rushing game or the passing game, That's what they want to
- 11:09do. That's how they want to attack
- 11:11you and when they can have success with it, they can both
- 11:15pop off big runs when they can also pop off some big plays in
- 11:18the passing game where they get either one-on-one matchups of
- 11:21the same order. You've got safeties that are
- 11:26looking in the backfield and all of a sudden, the guy runs past
- 11:29past the safety and he gets a big gain in the passing game, so
- 11:33that's what they like to do. They're only just okay.
- 11:37Okay, when they're not running, kind of that are po when they're
- 11:42just lining up and Swinging the ball around.
- 11:44Okay. So if we can get them to where
- 11:48they can't have good success on like first and second down with
- 11:52the RPO we can get them in scenarios where they're more of
- 11:56a straight drop back team. And that's where we can take
- 11:59advantage of them because they're not great there.
- 12:01They can still hurt you but they're not as as dangerous,
- 12:04they definitely are predicated off that run a Shin to get those
- 12:08big shots down the field but the receivers, you know, obviously
- 12:12they're missing say Shore at who opted out which makes sense.
- 12:16He had a hell of a year last year, but what are you seeing
- 12:20from these? Guys, I mentioned in their
- 12:22stats. You know what sort of routes,
- 12:25what do they do? Good that we've got to be
- 12:27looking for on Saturday afternoon.
- 12:30So for Perry's the thing that they ran with him, a lot is kind
- 12:34of the the post wheel action. So they usually send either.
- 12:38Ren or Robeson on the wheel and he'll kind of run the post and
- 12:42they'll hit him on the post. They liked that play a lot.
- 12:46He's got a good body to kind of catch those balls over the
- 12:49middle of the field. He's also a stick mover with his
- 12:53size that he's a guy that will get you know a couple catches
- 12:57over the middle, doesn't mind doing that for the team.
- 13:01So occasionally you'll see them hit him over the middle when
- 13:03they're trying to get a first down and some like third and
- 13:05eight or third and ten situations there.
- 13:09Morin. He's good at High Point in the
- 13:11ball. Despite his height will go up
- 13:13and get it. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:16Just I mean he plays taller than he is I guess would be a good
- 13:19way to describe it and he's also good at stretching defenses
- 13:23laterally. So he if anybody is the guy
- 13:26that's kind of making defenses have to honor sideline, to
- 13:30sideline. He's the guy that you're looking
- 13:32for. Roberson is the do it all guy?
- 13:35He's kind of the glue guy in the Leaving core, he can hurt you
- 13:40deep. He can hurt you over the middle.
- 13:43Shifty does a good job of kind of getting himself into a good
- 13:48spot. It within Zone coverage and
- 13:50moving the sticks and the guy you didn't talk about, but the
- 13:54real highlight is is green. He is a freshman wide receiver
- 14:00for them but looks a lot like bigger than that.
- 14:03I mean, this guy looks like a guy that's been in a program for
- 14:06a couple years. He's pretty strong, looking
- 14:09receiver. They like to hit him deep up the
- 14:12seam and he's the guy that they'll throw the fade routes to
- 14:16and he's kind of coming into his own.
- 14:18He's kind of the the fourth option here but he made a couple
- 14:22big plays in the NBA game that really help them out.
- 14:26Yep, pretty how we recruited. Probably, the highest recruited
- 14:29guy on this team. I'm, he's a four-star coming out
- 14:31of Mount Airy. Didn't mention in the steps?
- 14:35When it there, obviously, you look at the tape and you see
- 14:38more out of him. Now, Brian something I did
- 14:40notice and I want to kind of ask you because you kind of hit it
- 14:44already you know you talked about not being a drop back and
- 14:47fast team in in obviously two of their four games they were down
- 14:54so they Had to drop back and pass.
- 14:57They're not good at protecting the quarterback at all.
- 14:59They are 74th in the country sacks allowed at 16 in four
- 15:05games so literally the Bottom Rung similar to be see similar
- 15:09to do that. We discussed on previous.
- 15:11Now, what are you not only seeing from the offensive line
- 15:14brine but I kind of want to ask you, what do you see from them?
- 15:19But what else do we need to do it to attack this offense to get
- 15:24them out of those? Messed around and stuff.
- 15:26Sure. So let's talk about the
- 15:29offensive line first. So with the offensive line
- 15:33they're much better pass, blocking to run blocking team
- 15:36than they are pass blocking team.
- 15:38They're not Kind of road graders.
- 15:41They're not they're not offensive line that's going to
- 15:43really move you off the bowl, get a lot of Pancakes.
- 15:47I mean, they're not that type of offensive line, but what they do
- 15:51well, is that within that RPO scheme, they get to their
- 15:56blocking responsibilities and they do a good job of staying on
- 15:59this blocking responsibilities. So weird that we're going to
- 16:03have to shed tackles, we're going to have to have good run,
- 16:05fits actually? But yeah.
- 16:09What The meshing rpm. Should we listen a lot?
- 16:12Should we try to attack them in those gaps?
- 16:15Personally, I would not want to do that, why not?
- 16:19Well, number one, if you guess wrong, on your Blitz, you could
- 16:24be out of position and not have the right leverage in the Run
- 16:28game to match that mesh and that could lead pretty much put a
- 16:32safety on an island saying, if he doesn't make the tackle.
- 16:37It's going for a big big game. And, you know, from a running
- 16:41perspective, once you start blitzing, if you don't get
- 16:45there, that's where they can hurt you.
- 16:47Because they're looking for those kind of one-on-one,
- 16:49matchups, or single, man matchups in the zone game where
- 16:53they can hit you up the seam and hit you deep down the sideline,
- 16:56on some of those those post routes.
- 16:58So I would personally be selected with my blitzes.
- 17:04I wouldn't send anything on. First down second down and third
- 17:12down if it's under eight yards because they can still use that
- 17:14RPO game and I feel like that could take advantage of the
- 17:17blitz. Now if they are in those
- 17:20scenarios where you're pretty sure they're going to be
- 17:22straight drop back, that's when I would Blitz.
- 17:25All right, so that's what that's what I would take advantage of
- 17:27that poor offensive line when they don't have that element
- 17:31where you have to kind of dual read.
- 17:34All right? So since clearly My knowledge of
- 17:37what they do on offense has to your more professional opinion,
- 17:43is wrong. What do we gotta do?
- 17:45What do we need to do to slow them down?
- 17:49So big thing again, is going to be run, fits, make sure that
- 17:52those are they that they stay disciplined, they don't over
- 17:56pursue. When you got Walker, kind of
- 17:58moving around in the backfield and waiting for things to
- 18:00develop stay where you need to be get him to the spill area.
- 18:05And then let those guys kind of clean up the trash, make them
- 18:10Drive the field. They love chunk plays.
- 18:13Now, they have the ability to drive the field.
- 18:14They run pretty well, they pass pretty well.
- 18:18Well, but they're not great when you have to make them go a long
- 18:22way without getting chunk plays. So if we can do that, that'll
- 18:27get them off the field more consistently.
- 18:30Now, the other thing we need to make sure is that our safety is
- 18:33cannot get caught with their eyes in the backfield when they
- 18:35run that long mesh RPO, because that's they really love to throw
- 18:39the ball up the seam and they can really hurt us on some deep
- 18:43balls. UVA got bit quite a few times in
- 18:47see. State got bit a couple times in
- 18:49the tape that I watched and we got to make sure that we're not
- 18:53looking in the backfield that RPO and all of a sudden you got
- 18:58Rober Center Perry running past us.
- 19:03Got it. So sounds like a lot of
- 19:05discipline this week. I am super glad that Diablo will
- 19:09have another full week of practice anticipating.
- 19:13We did not see key on too much last week but anticipating maybe
- 19:17that will have a full week of practice.
- 19:18I think he got cleared either Wednesday or Friday of last week
- 19:25before last week's game, which is why we didn't see him, okay?
- 19:29So that makes me feel a little better.
- 19:30Better, they're obviously with the comments.
- 19:35He made earlier this week, about being, you know, kind of taking
- 19:39him some time to get back to where he was before.
- 19:42Having the, the covid that makes me feel better.
- 19:45You kind of think the same with Tisdale index guy starting to
- 19:48get their feet under them, starting to get back feeling
- 19:51better. Not only just in the safeties
- 19:54and linebackers, but just the unit as a whole and feel like
- 19:57the second half last week Braun, we saw them kind of Come
- 20:00together and really start clamping down.
- 20:05And, you know, I think it made some of us come off a little
- 20:10bit. Like, okay.
- 20:11That's kind of units. We expected to see not what we
- 20:14saw. The first couple weeks when
- 20:17we're missing players. Yeah man.
- 20:20Like I said, I like a whole lot. The, the adjustments that were
- 20:23made at halftime because what they did in, the second half
- 20:28looked a lot better, I No, they mixed up, you know, a little bit
- 20:32more man into into some of the coverages or kind of showing man
- 20:38and then still dropping in the zone.
- 20:39So they were mixing up coverages a little bit more in the second
- 20:43half and I think that confused Djokovic a little bit and got
- 20:47some some - place for us that we ended up taking advantage of
- 20:51only a couple other just quick stats.
- 20:53So you so you know folks so you know Braun only converting 38.9%
- 20:59of their third Downs. So, kind of a lower number
- 21:01there. They've only had one turnover.
- 21:07All the gear 11 fumble. That's it all year.
- 21:12So they do play very clean but they've also played clean and
- 21:17multiple games and had you know, NC State game.
- 21:21We watched kind of, you know, here and it was kind of like,
- 21:25okay, they got down clearly playing Clemson.
- 21:29You know, you can play clean and still get destroyed by them.
- 21:33I mentioned the Red Zone rushing it.
- 21:35Temps, they've had 23 total Red Zone, Rush attempts 15
- 21:39touchdowns. So pretty solid number there and
- 21:42converting because they scored all 21 of them and kind of go
- 21:47back to last year that game. Which was a fun game to watch as
- 21:50a game buddy. Robbie was in town and we met.
- 21:54I met him at Hurley's and we watch the end of the game there.
- 21:57But it's one of those sort of Great Performances.
- 22:00But last year, the offense against this offense, they
- 22:04registered. As for loss so far this year
- 22:08waking allowing eight-and-a-half.
- 22:09Tackles for loss of game if tech hits that eight-and-a-half
- 22:14average, it's going to be a very long night for Sam apartment
- 22:18because he is going to have to be back passing to your point
- 22:22earlier. Because if they're not getting
- 22:2534 yards on those first downs, he's gonna have to drop back.
- 22:30Yep. And that's what we need to do.
- 22:32If we, if we can get them behind the sticks on early day.
- 22:35Downs. We're going to have success
- 22:37against them will be able to slow their offense down if we
- 22:41don't, you know, it might end up being one of those things where
- 22:44we gotta kind of outscore them a little bit.
- 22:46So we'll see how that goes. I kind of like our chances
- 22:51regardless of the way it goes because I like we do on offense
- 22:53better, which we're going to kind of get to what they do on
- 22:57defense here in a second. So I'll let you start with some
- 22:59of the stats and I'll jump in there and tell you what I saw on
- 23:03film. All right, let me look through
- 23:04some interesting stats. Here because um below average
- 23:08defense, in my opinion, the rank 57 in Total Defense, giving up
- 23:13over 450 yards a game, five point seven, nine a play, I go
- 23:17to that, I look immediately at the rushing stats because it's
- 23:19what we do, best they are 60 seconds in the country.
- 23:23They are giving up 198 rushing yards of game at four point six
- 23:27per rush. I am sure when you hear that,
- 23:31Brian, you're starting to salivate over there knowing what
- 23:34we can do with her hon. Now, I look at the ACC games
- 23:38only, I throw the Campbell game out there giving basically 32
- 23:41points per game up that's to Clemson.
- 23:43NC State UVA. Clemson me and you texted during
- 23:48that game Clemson literally turn that off.
- 23:50After the second quarter, Clemson was already at 37 NC
- 23:54State, put 45 on them and then UVA.
- 23:58Well UVA with really no offensive game plan last week
- 24:02that was pitiful to watch especially when you have you
- 24:06Here's to you played backup, quarterbacks, and none of them
- 24:12really consistently. It was just, it was such a weird
- 24:19game. Yeah, plan.
- 24:22I feel like they might have been better just maybe going out
- 24:25there and running Armstead. The whole game because at least
- 24:28he's seeking hurt you with his feet, but he can throw good
- 24:31enough. But they didn't they ended up
- 24:35you know running Stone out there that was more the passer than
- 24:38you had. Got a Thompson this more, the
- 24:40runner and then arm said that kind of does both, okay?
- 24:46And it was just kind of a miss mix match, the whole game that
- 24:49didn't really wasn't effective for them and especially wasn't
- 24:53effective. Once we kind of took some time
- 24:56at halftime and and looked at what they were doing and made
- 24:59some adjustments. Absolutely.
- 25:01All right, a couple other real quick stats for you get in deep
- 25:03On the scheme and the Personnel one big problem they have on
- 25:08defense is that the offensive is only averaging, 26 minutes, a
- 25:13game purposes. I'll possession.
- 25:15I mean I think about the way, we're running the ball in.
- 25:18If that offense, can't stay on the field, all that defense is
- 25:21going to hate us all night. 56 in the country and surrendering
- 25:24third Downs at 45.8, only eight quarter, only eight sacks
- 25:30through four games. They are forcing turnovers
- 25:33though. The six picks three fumbles.
- 25:36And, as I stated earlier with only one turnover, I + 8
- 25:39turnover margin which is pretty high up there.
- 25:42So Brian, what are we? You know, when I when I give you
- 25:45all these stats Does the statute say that they are in a
- 25:51below-average defense? And what do we have to look
- 25:54after skiing and personnel-wise that maybe makes them a blow to
- 25:59me a below-average defense. So, so let's start with this.
- 26:04I don't think they're below average, but I think they're
- 26:06rushing defense is porous and I think that's where we're going
- 26:11to take some Advantage. Especially considering that's
- 26:14our, that's our strength. So wake like The lineup in a
- 26:18four to five. So very similar front to what we
- 26:20run. Play, a lot of single high
- 26:23safety, usually have the other safety there in the box, or near
- 26:27the line of scrimmage out on a slot receiver or flexed out
- 26:31tight end or something like that occasionally, they'll drop him
- 26:34into a too deep look, but that's kind of a few and far between
- 26:39the thing they do best is that they tackle very well, so
- 26:44they're clean on that front. They don't miss very many
- 26:46tackle. Oils.
- 26:48They gang tackle. Well, they don't give up a lot
- 26:52of cheap yards, okay. But That doesn't mean that
- 26:58there's not some holes that we can take advantage of.
- 27:00Now, the one player that's going to be the problem that we're
- 27:03going to focus on is going to be Boogie Basham the defensive end.
- 27:09Probably one of the more balanced defensive ends in the
- 27:12ACC, in terms of being good against the run and good against
- 27:14the past. And he's really quick for a guy
- 27:18that's to 285 pounds, he has an undetermined 40 time.
- 27:26But he runs somewhere in the I think like the 4647 range and
- 27:33has good quickness out the gate. So he's a guy that you want to
- 27:35watch for. I mean you see him a lot of
- 27:37times even when he's out of the play, chasing them down from
- 27:40behind and making the tackle down feel.
- 27:42So he's going to be a guy to look out for.
- 27:46They play a lot of off coverage to the short or weeks out of the
- 27:50the offense. So towards the boundary, usually
- 27:54see cornerbacks about 8 to 10. Yards off the line of scrimmage.
- 27:59So we might have some advantage to get some short routes quick
- 28:01routes out to the wide receiver and let him do some stuff in
- 28:04space there with them playing that far off on a consistent
- 28:08basis. Now one of the things that they
- 28:13did do when I was watching the you be a game is that they did a
- 28:17time struggle to contain a mobile quarterback.
- 28:20So when Thompson and Armstead were in the game they were able
- 28:24to bust some runs especially in the first half, okay.
- 28:28Looks like they adjusted a little bit in the second half to
- 28:30take some of that away but I saw Armstead, get about a 25-yard
- 28:35Gainer. Thompson got a big third down
- 28:38Gainer They got their first led to their first touchdown.
- 28:43Got a big run down the sideline for about 35 yards so they are
- 28:47susceptible to some quarterback runs and if we you know, we look
- 28:50back to last week was what Hendon hooker was able to do in
- 28:52the Run game? That's something we might be
- 28:53able to take advantage of as well.
- 28:55Now let's talk about their Rush defense in general.
- 28:58It's definitely weaker than the past.
- 29:00Like I've been discussing here, they do a decent job of setting
- 29:03the edge but they kind of struggle in the middle.
- 29:06The middle is where they're susceptible.
- 29:08They've got a lot. Backer that he's probably their
- 29:11weakest link. I believe his number eight.
- 29:13I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but a lot of
- 29:17teams ran right at him. He had some struggles getting
- 29:21off blocks shedding blocks. So I think we will probably run
- 29:27inside outside Zone with. There's going to be those cut
- 29:28back Lanes in the outside Zone where we can get up and attack
- 29:32in the middle of that defense. And I think that's where we'll
- 29:35get pop off some of those big plays that we've seen Khalil
- 29:37Herbert and a couple times with Raheem Blackshear busting, some
- 29:42big ones. In the secondary.
- 29:45They play really good Zone shell, usually cover three, they
- 29:51don't give up a ton of deep stuff, so we're not going to be
- 29:53probably taking a bunch of shots on them.
- 29:55Unless it's kind of coming off, play action, where we can get
- 29:58them, kind of more one-on-one or out in space and Zone coverage,
- 30:03where we can throw behind the linebackers in front of the
- 30:05safeties, but you can't attack them a lot underneath that zone
- 30:11but you got to be patient. Okay?
- 30:14I think that's the big thing. We're going to need to do in
- 30:16this game is kind of be patient with the passing game.
- 30:19We're going to need it but we can't just think that when we go
- 30:23to the passing game we're just going to bunt you know break off
- 30:26a bunch of Chunk please, and you score some points out.
- 30:30There's I think we're going to need to be patient.
- 30:31Take the eight yarder, take the 12 yarder, take the five yarder.
- 30:37If it's there, take it, don't don't try to force it but there
- 30:42they are susceptible. Like I was Saying when in play
- 30:45action on the Running Games working, that's where the chunk
- 30:48plays in the passing attack came from, especially like I said,
- 30:52kind of behind the linebackers and in front of the safeties.
- 30:55So that's how I would attack them.
- 30:57Okay, run the ball, consistently run that play action and just be
- 31:03patient with the ball and don't take chances with the ball.
- 31:09Nice, run. I think what you're telling us
- 31:13here is with who we've got at the controls.
- 31:16I don't see him forcing anything, you know, deep.
- 31:20And then once you're talking about on the inside, I think
- 31:22we're going to hit here in a couple minutes.
- 31:25A few things that will definitely make sense, to who we
- 31:28feel or some of the pivotal players.
- 31:32You know, for Wake Forest is defense.
- 31:37They did have to play Clemson. They Play weight force, and
- 31:40weight forces first game. So maybe some of those steps.
- 31:44Maybe while I'm feeling there, I look at the numbers and I feel
- 31:47they're below. Average is just the stats
- 31:49telling me that. But, you know, It's just one of
- 31:53those things where it's like, the only team, they've really
- 31:56been able to stop his camel, it doesn't count and UVA who
- 32:00couldn't figure out, you know, what to do on offense versus
- 32:03just saying, hey, this work, well, against them.
- 32:08This is what we've got to do. That's one thing.
- 32:11I don't think with our offense is going to happen.
- 32:14I think we know what our identity is, and we go right
- 32:17after it and by saying that, Brian, let's go to pivotal
- 32:20players. Okay?
- 32:22Taking over the number one spot this week.
- 32:26In a shock to me when you brought this name out earlier
- 32:31today. But after you just explain how
- 32:34bad they are in the inside, I am L not shocked at all, taking
- 32:38over the number one spot for total player this week, on
- 32:40offense, broth, Hoffman, Brian care, to explain.
- 32:45If we could run between the tackles, we will win this
- 32:48football game. And with Brock making the calls
- 32:52inside there. Brock handling a lot of the
- 32:54handoff responsibilities in that four-man front and making the
- 33:00adjustments with who's going to be up on the linebackers.
- 33:02I trust him and what he does. And I think he's gonna going to
- 33:07feast and I'm going to go ahead and add another name, just
- 33:11because we're talking about offensive, lineman kind of the
- 33:14the one be here would be luke to new to coming back this week and
- 33:18drawing. Boogie bash them on a lot of
- 33:21those, any third down play as we're dropping back, probably
- 33:25gonna have have Boogie coming after him.
- 33:28So, I think if he can hold up on the past Pro on those, third and
- 33:34lungs. And, like I said, I think Brock
- 33:36is going to be the guy that's going to help us Feast on the
- 33:39running game. And I think the combination
- 33:41should be, should be good for us that if those guys can do.
- 33:44Well, we're probably going to have a good day.
- 33:48Awesome. Now the second one not as
- 33:51shocking when we were discussing just a few minutes ago about how
- 33:54well UVA more mobile quarterbacks ran slipping down
- 33:58one spot this week can, the pivot ended hooker?
- 34:04You know what he did last week and 164 yard is the second most,
- 34:11you know, rushing yards by Virginia tort Tech quarterback
- 34:14since Michael Vick. So impressive, he looked very
- 34:19confident out there. You look patient.
- 34:21He didn't look worried. He was taking what was given to
- 34:24him. He was stepping out of bounds.
- 34:26When he needed to he was, he was essentially avoiding the big
- 34:30shots and now even more. So for Wake Forest with him
- 34:35being fully back, you know, I'm sure I'm sure they're meeting
- 34:39rooms. Just tell me something.
- 34:41Like, what would be said in that meeting room this week?
- 34:43Is there looking at the tape with him breaking 164?
- 34:46Juice what he's done black shears.
- 34:47Breaking some big plays potential for the I mean what
- 34:51can they be thinking? You know, what is their message?
- 34:56Because it's not one, it's literally, you're going to have
- 34:59to protect the entire field from a potential Rush. yeah, I mean
- 35:05what they're going to what they're going to be saying is
- 35:07that you know, they're going to try to I think make us earn
- 35:11every yard. I think that's that's that's the
- 35:13message that they would have to say there.
- 35:16Don't let kind of one play Beat you because we can attack both
- 35:22laterally and down the field in the rushing attack and in the
- 35:25passing game I know the passing game hasn't really taken off in
- 35:29terms of putting up the big numbers but with within and
- 35:33hooker in there it really hurts them because he can make all the
- 35:36throws and attacking different levels.
- 35:38Like we were talking about You know, in the BC game.
- 35:42I mean just because he was effective with his limited
- 35:46number of throws and he attacked different parts of the field.
- 35:49So that meant they had to honor it for four orders.
- 35:51And I think we're going to see something similar this week and
- 35:54that's why him to no cars there and also because of his legs
- 35:56again, you know, we talked about Armstead and Thompson, having
- 36:01some success against Wake Forest in the rushing game.
- 36:04And I think we're going to see some more of that both from
- 36:07design runs. And, you know, From areas where
- 36:11hooker just sees the lane and he'll take advantage of and get
- 36:13up feel for a first down. Absolutely laughing.
- 36:19Brian you know we were discussing today is you were
- 36:22kind of telling talking to me about you know, those short five
- 36:25yards, 57-yard routes, we kind of landed that we're going to
- 36:30have at least one Rider Seaver to need to be a pivotal player
- 36:33and kind of the guy who's, and I think maybe we lean towards him
- 36:38more than anything is Trey getting Nick last week.
- 36:40Not being able to play. We won't tell you rob, Davion
- 36:44Robinson. Any any give me more specifics
- 36:49of why you want him? Because, you know, You felt like
- 36:53he was going to be over tried. Probably, I'm guessing the
- 36:55injury thing is probably what you're thinking about is, what
- 36:58are they going to let trade do? As far as that show injuries?
- 37:02And I think, I mean, we're not going to need probably as many
- 37:06Big Shots against this team, and I think guys, like Tim, John
- 37:13Robinson and James Mitchell are going to have a lot of success.
- 37:17And I went with a Beyond Robinson just because we're
- 37:19going to need some more output from Omar wide receiver unit
- 37:23this week and I think he's going to be the guy that step up just
- 37:26because of the way he when he gets the ball in his hands, he
- 37:29has very good job of getting up field with his vision and kind
- 37:35of getting the first downs and moving the chains for us.
- 37:37So I like what he would bring against this defense kind of
- 37:41working between the zones and also times when were able to
- 37:44throw it out to him real quick, when those Corners are in off
- 37:48and just letting him kind of get upfield and read the blog.
- 37:51Locks and make a play. Got it.
- 37:56All right, so there's our top three, pivotal players on
- 37:58offense, proc Hoffman Hendon hooker.
- 38:00Tavian Robinson. Let's flip it over to the
- 38:02defense and Brawn. I feel like every week more and
- 38:05more it. Me and you, and we're putting
- 38:08this together, we're finding it more difficult to do, one
- 38:11specific defensive player, it's always the unit and today weeks,
- 38:16no difference. I mean, number one as soon as
- 38:19you started talking about the mesh earlier today when we were
- 38:22running through this, I'm like, it's linebackers isn't in your
- 38:25like you're correct. Ding ding.
- 38:31You know, big thing. Get the right fits don't over
- 38:35pursue and don't get sucked in on the RPO and you put your your
- 38:43safeties out on Islands. I just think that's the big
- 38:47thing. If the linebackers can play
- 38:48discipline in this game, we're going to have a lot of success.
- 38:52I want to ask you this question. Ian.
- 38:54Who started it back or Saturday Tisdale?
- 39:01I wanted to get your opinion on that and obviously, again, more,
- 39:05the more games to go by. As I stated earlier, the better,
- 39:08these guys are in more plain shape.
- 39:10So, let's hope they're back to their normal cells.
- 39:15Second one a little interesting brine because as we discussed
- 39:18it, my number the number 31 is the one I had to, but you pushed
- 39:22me hard for saying our corners. Why is that Corners you feel?
- 39:27Is it? Is it because of the some of the
- 39:29stuff you're talking about of them?
- 39:30They like to push is that really the big reason you feel the
- 39:33corners, or shooting the ball, downfield weather outside or you
- 39:38up the seam Corners are going to come in, come up big for us if
- 39:44we're going to have some success to hold, that passing game down.
- 39:47You know, we could easily say here the entire defensive
- 39:49backfield because the safeties are going to have to make sure
- 39:53that they're keeping their eyes. His discipline on that are po.
- 39:58But the corners are going to have to play well because they
- 40:00do take shots. They're not a team that's going
- 40:02to you know throw it in front of you where you can come with make
- 40:05a tackle, they're going to try to push the ball down the field
- 40:07so you've got to make sure that we're not you know giving up
- 40:11those chunk plays. So the quarterback play is going
- 40:13to be very important across the board regardless of who we see
- 40:18in there getting the significant amount of snaps, whether it's
- 40:21you know Chatman, whether it's Taylor.
- 40:24Or Murray obviously Connors going to be in there.
- 40:27Pretty consistently at the whip. But yeah, yeah, though, all
- 40:31those guys are going to be really important in this game
- 40:34and hopefully they play a good one and keep those guys in front
- 40:37of them, for four quarters. All right.
- 40:41Now, number three on the list, the one I felt should be number
- 40:44two, but sometimes Brian has the override here, like, you know,
- 40:50he is the officially, he is the executive.
- 40:54Technical producer of this program.
- 40:56Technical, we need to keep warm but I want defensive tackles did
- 41:02they play out of their mind last week against PC?
- 41:05No. Did they play better than they
- 41:07did against UNC? Even my Uneducated football.
- 41:12Last could see that they did and Deshawn Crawford, got some run
- 41:17late in that game. We really need him back.
- 41:19I love Pollard to death, but Pollard still under sized in.
- 41:25You know, when teams come at him, he can get pushed out of
- 41:29the way. I would smaller than Basham.
- 41:32Yes, he is. He's like 275 pounds.
- 41:36Yeah, you talk about. Get him on a pastoral child.
- 41:39He can eat a live Those guards and centers, just he's just that
- 41:43quick off the line, but when it comes to the run, it struggling.
- 41:48But other reasons, we put the defensive tackles here because
- 41:50you did agree that they deserve to be in the top three.
- 41:54Yes, they're gonna be important because we're gonna need them to
- 41:56do a couple things. Number one is that they're going
- 41:59to need to spill those running backs out there where the
- 42:05safeties can make. Please on the edge, Connor can
- 42:09make tackles on the edge. So if Can spill those
- 42:12consistently and still have guys there to get the tackle.
- 42:15That's going to be important. And by safety is getting
- 42:18attacked, I don't mean, safety is getting the tackle eight
- 42:21yards down the field. I mean safeties filling at or
- 42:24near the line of scrimmage and bring them down.
- 42:28That's what ideally we would want to do, is make sure that we
- 42:32don't let them get to the second level before.
- 42:36We've got a guy there to bring him down whether it's tackling
- 42:39in between the tackles or Those defensive tackles getting the
- 42:44running backs to spill outside and either run the hump or have
- 42:48to make decisions before they're ready.
- 42:50Because with that slut with that slow mesh, man.
- 42:52They're going to give us opportunities to give to put
- 42:55negative plays in their backfield but we've got to get
- 43:00off the blocks. All right, coming in 2021,
- 43:06everyone, Brian seagulls weekly segment of field.
- 43:11Working Gap coming to YouTube where I'm going to just keep
- 43:16pushing you and I think you would do it every week from a
- 43:19pro and a Collegiate level. Just probably sparingly watching
- 43:24the game, then fill it. Let me just write down the real
- 43:26quick time of that. I'll pull it later and put it on
- 43:29my bill. Your Gap segment.
- 43:32The I Braun. Did you see the uniform reveal?
- 43:37I did wait with the maroon helmet, all whites, all white
- 43:43Ice Baby. Really, just a slim crisp.
- 43:47Look kudos to them. They let a big man, Mom, let
- 43:50this week kudos to rock, Hoffman was wearing the 25 in the promo.
- 43:58He looks busy with the, with the light, with
- 44:15the lighting going and the and all that, man.
- 44:18So it was nice to see a big man, get some love there.
- 44:23Yeah, absolutely. Look at the video again.
- 44:25I love the way that the Hokie Stone looks in the maroon.
- 44:28Because it is if you look really close as that embedded Stone,
- 44:30such a cool look. And, you know, with the whites
- 44:34with the maroon helmet, such a Sleek look down there where I
- 44:37think I read today, they wait for sold out.
- 44:40Like apparently some VT fans like went Bonkers and just
- 44:44balled up maybe three to four thousand tickets.
- 44:48We could be significantly a pro Hoagie crowd of the like 8,000
- 44:53people there which is awesome. Who got the 25 this week Brian.
- 44:59That would be a Chum re Connor who had a big game against BC in
- 45:03forcing a turnover. Yeah, led the team in tackles
- 45:08did really good things against the Run.
- 45:09Did you know? It was a lot more effective in
- 45:13the in the zone in the passing game that needs been the last
- 45:17few weeks. So if he can kind of figure out
- 45:21his spot in that zone, he's going to be damned impressive
- 45:24because he's so good against the Run man.
- 45:27He is man and you know, he's one of those guys that you feel like
- 45:33if he can continue to show out, he can probably find his way to
- 45:36the NFL, you know, being slightly out of position.
- 45:41It kind of stinks, warm. But I feel like I look at your
- 45:44Martin's body and maybe I'm just just not knowledgeable of, you
- 45:48know, human anatomy. I feel like tomorrow.
- 45:52Connor couldn't gain somewhere between. 10 to 15 lbs and be a
- 45:59weak side. Linebacker, a true weakside
- 46:01linebacker in the NFL. Am I stupid or do you think it's
- 46:05true? It wouldn't be unheard of in
- 46:09certain systems. So throw on a few pounds, but
- 46:34yeah, if he gets thrown a few more pounds and maintain his
- 46:37speed, I think we could definitely have a conversation
- 46:39there. Absolutely.
- 46:42All right, well, Brown will get to it, breakdowns done to the
- 46:46little players revealed. Jersey uniform and 25 discussed.
- 46:53What is you actually know who you might run?
- 46:56You led last week, okay, you keep on here.
- 46:59I will lead this week, Brian, I think is, as I texted you, a few
- 47:06days ago, bond, this game, didn't worry me.
- 47:10And then it worried me. And then I look more at the
- 47:12stats and it doesn't worry me. I personally think in every
- 47:16facet of this game at every level we are better than them.
- 47:20I do them with only one turnover this year.
- 47:25I think that usually numbers kept up to.
- 47:28You eventually, saying, Hartman's thrown 10 picks
- 47:31through 13 games, he has zero through four.
- 47:34It's time for a couple turnovers from them.
- 47:36And I think this might shock you Hokies are going by four
- 47:41touchdowns 5200, Okay, 52:12. I think big round number out
- 47:50there. Big 150 burger and Potentially
- 47:57the way it had their run defense.
- 48:00It would not Shock me if as it gets later in that game you peek
- 48:04down and saying we don't get 400 yards.
- 48:08Okay, what you think? I'm not right there with you,
- 48:12but I definitely am predicting a pretty big big win for the
- 48:18Hokies here. I've got 4527, okay, it pretty
- 48:24close. 4527. So we're both predicting, you
- 48:31know? Over three score win for the
- 48:35Hokies in this game folks, and I just think it's what we do.
- 48:40What they don't do is just a lot of things that go into it, all
- 48:44right? So we are going to essentially
- 48:47turn the Hokey stuff off, and we're going to go to our picks
- 48:51for the week are ACC and college football picks as we discussed
- 48:57on Saturday night, because we were having a good time brown
- 48:59with outside. Few brewskies intimately.
- 49:02Wonderful, smoky. Key Mountain are hell of a weak
- 49:05Force. Last week, Brian.
- 49:06You wouldn't six and three. I went to seven and two.
- 49:11So we're going to do it again this week.
- 49:13You've been on a roll lately, man, weave.
- 49:41Among all right, Brian. Let's start it up here.
- 49:44We'll start with some of the early games.
- 49:47Let's start with NC State UNC UNC laying 15 NC State, starting
- 49:53quarterback, Devon Larry out for four to eight weeks with the
- 49:56fibula break. What you think here, man?
- 50:00If Leary was playing, I would take NC State and the points but
- 50:07yeah, I don't I don't like it with Hawk.
- 50:10Been in there. I don't like it UNC coming off
- 50:13an embarrassing loss and something to prove.
- 50:17So I'll take you and see the cover the 15th.
- 50:21Yeah, UNC coming off the loss. It's Larry was in there.
- 50:24This would probably be, I'd say like seven and a half.
- 50:29If he can't lie. Love 7 to 8:30 and a half
- 50:32somewhere. In that range.
- 50:34I would be tempted to go with NC State.
- 50:38If Bailey hot, it's hot. When hadn't played, you know, a
- 50:41few times already this year, essentially they know what
- 50:46they're getting. If you hadn't played against
- 50:49waking against us where he Wakey did a phenomenal job against us.
- 50:53We essentially exposed to many essentially Gaston, Larry.
- 50:57I'd be the same way UNC burned us last week them run.
- 51:01They absolutely love this on fire.
- 51:03That was of the games, we that we agreed on.
- 51:07I think that in the Syracuse game of the only ones that
- 51:10burned us. So, you know, we were five and
- 51:13two in the games, we pick together, but I'm with you, I
- 51:16think UNC off the embarrassing loss NC State, without their
- 51:20starting. Ting.
- 51:21True starting quarterback. I think, UNC roles.
- 51:25I think UNC probably gets to 40. I can't see I can't see NC
- 51:31State. Keeping within three scores.
- 51:35Alrighty. Let's go to the real fun when
- 51:38Prime, here we go. Because when I gave you this
- 51:41number, a little while ago, you went like, was that low earlier
- 51:45in the week? I'm like, no, it's been this all
- 51:47week. You're like, Jesus, Syracuse.
- 51:49Clemson, Clemson is laying 45 points.
- 51:58Yikes, but hold on. Yep, last week.
- 52:05They almost covered in the first half against Georgia Tech.
- 52:09It is true. It is true.
- 52:13They pushed it. So I don't think Clemson is
- 52:17going to go crazy Clemson this week and just annihilate them.
- 52:23I do think maybe last week was a statement after the after the
- 52:30loss. Or after the the win against
- 52:33Miami where they, they're okay, but they didn't look all
- 52:37dominant. Also think to put it on, Georgia
- 52:41Tech, they put it on them in Atlanta.
- 52:43They recruit the hell out of Georgia.
- 52:44They Don't Really re troop New York or that area whatsoever.
- 52:50I'm going to take Syracuse in the points.
- 52:53Okay, I think Clemson still gets to 50 but I think Syracuse.
- 53:01Get a couple scores to, You Know cover my like a field called
- 53:05Four Points. Yeah I don't think they have a
- 53:0760 Burger again in them. So I'm going to do the same
- 53:11thing and take Syracuse in the 45 points.
- 53:14It's was games where we're going to be sitting there on Saturday,
- 53:18keep an eye on this game, something like 14:21, like just
- 53:22just stop her a couple minutes, left it, but you get leg.
- 53:26We play a few drives in the first half, please.
- 53:31All right, Brian next FSU. Louisville Louisville is laying
- 53:37four and a half points to FSU coming off the massive Victory.
- 53:42Let me look real quick here. This game is going to be at
- 53:47Louisville. High knew what you think from at
- 53:52Louisville, High Noon Louisville.
- 53:58Look straight line makers. Think this game kind of scoring
- 54:11is going to be. Oh, man.
- 54:16This is, this is one that I've been like, thinking about, since
- 54:20we started putting this thing together, man.
- 54:24Because I don't, Know what Louisville team to expect and I
- 54:28don't know what FSU team to expect and that's kind of been
- 54:31the theme of the last couple weeks man.
- 54:36I don't think Louisville is going to play as bad offensive
- 54:38ly in back-to-back weeks as they as they did last week.
- 54:42So I'm going to take Louisville to cover.
- 54:46The four and a half Louisville is going to cover the four and a
- 54:49half. Yeah.
- 54:51These teams are like, you know, just you know, there's good
- 54:58stuff rennicks. They see.
- 55:01They do things. That make no Godly sense.
- 55:05You think they're both terrible, then they, you know, Louisville
- 55:09freaking gets in a rock fight with Notre, Dame himself been
- 55:12which no one saw coming. Me and then, you know,
- 55:16essentially FSU plays, it's the first the best first half,
- 55:20probably in the last two years down there hanging, you know,
- 55:23essentially hand enough points to hang on versus you and see.
- 55:32I think FS you found something last week, offensive ly, I think
- 55:36they started finding it at Notre Dame with the new quarterback,
- 55:43His Name Escapes me right now. So I'm going to pull it up real
- 55:46quick because I want to make sure I'm looking at the right
- 55:49guy here after Ting after Ting after Ting effort in Jordan
- 55:55tries. I think they found something in
- 55:57Jordan Travis. To where?
- 56:01I think it will be a high scoring game that 61 number does
- 56:05not look appealing to me at all. I feel like you've got to be on
- 56:09the over in that game but I'm going to take FS U Braun.
- 56:13I think FSU wins this game outright as well.
- 56:19Okay, okay and you know what I can't dispute that because I
- 56:26could have easily moved in that same direction.
- 56:30But but if you call me at 3:00 Curtis you were wrong about this
- 56:34game and you know yeah great confidence with that.
- 56:40Pick the confidence. In this pic of all the games
- 56:46were picking. I think this one might be the
- 56:48lowest might be the lowest of the ones were picking.
- 56:54All right, Braun next pit Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Lane 10.
- 56:59A half points, Notre Dame coming off, you know, against one of
- 57:03the worst defense has known the ACC, but the country only
- 57:08putting up 12 points goes against that pit defense where
- 57:11it appears the kidney. Picket things going to be on
- 57:15like a last second thing. We're all right, if he's playing
- 57:19he really hasn't practiced. I'm gonna I think Notre Dame is
- 57:25going to win this game, but I do think that is going to make the
- 57:29cover. I think pits got a good enough
- 57:32defense. I think they will try to run the
- 57:35clock, they'll try to make this like a 21:17 game and try to
- 57:40hope they can. Hold on to it.
- 57:44You know, the confidence in this one either because, you know,
- 57:47it's lower because Notre Dame, could be like, listen.
- 57:49We're better than this even though it's a good defense.
- 57:52We can score on them. But I can't see laying 10 and a
- 57:56half, not the way Notre Dame is playing.
- 58:01The last couple weeks. Okay I'm going in the other
- 58:06direction. All right I don't similar to
- 58:10Louisville I don't see Notre Dame putting up another, nothing
- 58:13Burger in a row. They've been a consistently up
- 58:17and down team with book running this offense, the last couple
- 58:22years and I think that's going to continue and last week was
- 58:26kind of a Down week and I think you're going to see a more
- 58:29consistent Italy. Consistent offense from Notre
- 58:33Dame and if they if they can be consistent on offense, they're
- 58:36going to win and I think they'll win by maybe 13.
- 58:40It's going to be close to probably like a backdoor cover
- 58:43field goal late. Kind of put it out of reach.
- 58:47All right, I'm watching SportsCenter.
- 58:50Did you see the exhibit? Banger, Jones run.
- 58:52I saw the Daniel Jones run. We got like 23 miles an hour
- 58:56which is crazy. SportsCenter.
- 59:01I think I sent this to you. Did you see the Jon Ron Schott
- 59:05the absolute tank? Hold on.
- 59:08This is live folks. Brian needs to see this for the
- 59:12simple fact of John Reynolds number one golf player in the
- 59:14world and how he hit this shot. Makes hacks like me, feel great.
- 59:23So I'm going to be sending this while I set up the next one
- 59:26Brian and into you email, while we set our Georgia Tech ball
- 59:31Austin College. Um, I'm trying to find why this
- 59:36happens. Tell me when you see it, it's
- 59:39coming. Here we go.
- 59:43We're already agreeing on this one.
- 59:44I know. Georgia Tech, Boston College.
- 59:48Boston College has Lane three and a half.
- 59:52Everybody currently that's been listening this podcast over the
- 59:54last few weeks, knows, bronze, feeling on how Georgia Tech has
- 59:57treated him. Just saying
- 1:00:16Just chunked it. All right, BC, lion
- 1:00:19three-and-a-half against Georgia Tech.
- 1:00:22We saw BC last week. They are a good competent team.
- 1:00:26Georgia, Tech is not give me DC. And in, Somebody explain why
- 1:00:31this line is three and a half to me.
- 1:00:34I was taking this at eight and a half or nine, so definitely give
- 1:00:38it to me three and a half. Let me get on the bookmakers and
- 1:00:45how much do I get? Hunter to win like three three
- 1:01:07and a half. Yeah maybe slutting of course
- 1:01:11but you know I Brian. Let's go.
- 1:01:14Saturday night down in Miami UVA.
- 1:01:17Miami Miami is laying 12 and a half as of yesterday or today I
- 1:01:25believe the ginger Tebow still not clear to confront concussion
- 1:01:29protocol and in all, you know, of course we're going to give
- 1:01:33that to Engraved are the primary rivals.
- 1:01:37It's get by we're going on on those, what 14 days.
- 1:01:40Now, since that happened, That's that's not a good sign.
- 1:01:45We're getting into. Is this a Sidney Crosby
- 1:01:48situation? Good good.
- 1:01:50Good way to put it. Yep.
- 1:01:54Hopefully not for them because regardless of how we feel about
- 1:01:57UVA, I won't you be as best. I want to beat them at their
- 1:02:00best have fun. So, you know, best wishes him to
- 1:02:04get back on the field. I hope it's not a Sidney Crosby
- 1:02:06situation where he's out for, you know, several months and
- 1:02:10not, you know, a couple weeks or three or four Weeks we or
- 1:02:13whatever it may be. So and given the fact that he's
- 1:02:17not playing and the cluster, fuck us all against Wake Forest
- 1:02:21with three different, quarterbacks running three
- 1:02:23different systems and none of them running it consistently
- 1:02:27enough to really make a case for an offense.
- 1:02:30I'm going to take Miami and the points or to cover the 12 and a
- 1:02:34half. Mommy at 12 and a half and we
- 1:02:37put that on here. Yeah, to your point.
- 1:02:40You don't any player whatsoever? Her to be out like that other
- 1:02:44Rivals are not 12. That's a big number because, you
- 1:02:49know, If? All right, we discussed UVA
- 1:02:57before the season started. We we mean you got on.
- 1:03:00Both of different are going to have a pretty good defense.
- 1:03:02They're going to have to win some low-scoring games. that
- 1:03:06defense is just looking bad and I don't know if it's the
- 1:03:09mentality thing with the covid situations or if it's just, you
- 1:03:14know, Not having to. Now think about not having Bryce
- 1:03:18all where the back half last year.
- 1:03:19They didn't have to think about that in so many other things.
- 1:03:26I didn't expect it, you know, you told me, they lost the
- 1:03:28weight Force, I'd be like, yeah, they probably did they, you know
- 1:03:32what? They probably Lost Tomb, 23:17.
- 1:03:36You tell me, they lose about 40. And then we see the Duke game,
- 1:03:41where Duke scored on Duke, had numerous chances to put that
- 1:03:43many points up on. You know, and it's just one of
- 1:03:48those things where it's like, I'm with you Brian.
- 1:03:52I've got to like 12 and a half because the offense involves
- 1:03:55score points and the way Miami played last week off that loss
- 1:04:00was very impressive. And as I heard someone say this
- 1:04:05week and they don't think that's Manny Diaz.
- 1:04:07They think that's Tierra King. They think that's having a guy
- 1:04:10like him in that locker room that said, Hey listen, put last
- 1:04:14week out of your mind. We In the game, we need to go
- 1:04:16keep winning so Miami. Lay the 12 and a half.
- 1:04:25I have seen Miami getting. He's I see mommy getting the
- 1:04:2830-plus and I can't see view ABA.
- 1:04:33If they get to 17 or 21, it will be a miracle.
- 1:04:40All right, Brian. Let's go.
- 1:04:42Like I said, I think it's going to be like I said without ginger
- 1:04:45tea. That's going to be a struggle.
- 1:04:48All right, let's go out of conference to Big matchups.
- 1:04:51This weekend, Big Ten football is back which, you know, for
- 1:04:57college football World, whether you hate the Big Ten, love the
- 1:05:01Big Ten respect it. It's also, we're going to see
- 1:05:03more teams playing more games on Saturday in the two matches were
- 1:05:09looking at here. Once from the Big 12, once in
- 1:05:11the Big Ten, let's start with the big 12 matchup.
- 1:05:16Oklahoma State, Iowa State, this is in Stillwater.
- 1:05:20Number 6, Oklahoma state 17, Iowa State, Oklahoma State
- 1:05:25undefeated at 3 & 0, laying, three and a half.
- 1:05:30Brian, what are you feeling? Actually take that back.
- 1:05:34Ron, you led the last one. So I'm gonna go with this one.
- 1:05:38I'll take this. Tell me what you got as much as
- 1:05:43I like. I think as good as Iowa is on
- 1:05:59defense, you know, I don't, I think eventually you're not
- 1:06:06going to be able to hold him down the other big one.
- 1:06:10And this is big for me, Oklahoma State in their first three games
- 1:06:14where they've been playing sort of a Kind of Muddy ball.
- 1:06:18Not what you expect from Oregon need to use expect my gummy,
- 1:06:20they're tossing it they're scoring points the bill without
- 1:06:23their first string quarterback Spencer standards returns this
- 1:06:26week. I think that three and a half
- 1:06:29way too low. I think he's going to come back.
- 1:06:32I think they're going to be more Dynamic, passing the ball, which
- 1:06:34is going to open up cubed, harbored some lames, not a legal
- 1:06:38limit bet, but you can put quite a bit on it.
- 1:06:40Give me Oklahoma State, lay the three and a half.
- 1:06:45I'm right there with you buddy. I like what I would stay does on
- 1:06:51defense, but I just think that as you said kind of getting back
- 1:06:57on the right track on offense, I think it's going to be big for
- 1:06:59Oklahoma State. I think they're going to be able
- 1:07:01to score enough points. I think it's going to be kind of
- 1:07:04like a 7 to 10 point victory for Okie state.
- 1:07:11So yeah, give me the, give me up.
- 1:07:12Estate to cover the three and a half.
- 1:07:14All right, we're on the same one there and then Bryan Saturday
- 1:07:19night. We go to Minnesota.
- 1:07:25Minnesota. Michigan, Minnesota.
- 1:07:27Michigan at Minnesota, Michigan. The road favorite laying three
- 1:07:33now. Brian, there has been some
- 1:07:35discussion this week that potentially on Saturday night.
- 1:07:44There are, potentially, he's going to be snow showers.
- 1:07:47Hello. It's right now, it's kind of
- 1:07:52saying they're showing Friday, but people are saying it could
- 1:07:55be held off, either way, it's going to be cold on Saturday
- 1:07:58night game time took looks to be around 28 degrees.
- 1:08:06So he gonna be cold. It will be chilly.
- 1:08:09Chilly, what are you thinking? This Minnesota keeps the stuff
- 1:08:17going on. Crash back to Earth Bateman came
- 1:08:21back. They got their quarterback.
- 1:08:24What do you think? I know we're not really.
- 1:09:02And I think this is a pretty important game for them, and I
- 1:09:06think it's going to be one of those down-to-the-wire games,
- 1:09:10but I think, I think, I think Minnesota is going to end up
- 1:09:13probably pulling the outright Victory here.
- 1:09:17All right, well, I'm going to have to disagree with you on
- 1:09:23that, okay? And Jim Harbaugh has definitely
- 1:09:32lost. I just saw it here in a while
- 1:09:34ago. Two and twelve verses like top
- 1:09:3615 teams or top 20 teams. So he's not been good since he
- 1:09:41essentially came back to the college game but it's just one
- 1:09:45of those things where I'm sitting here and it's just like
- 1:09:52I can't put my finger on it but it's just I think they started
- 1:09:57getting over the hump this year. Maybe it's because he coached by
- 1:10:01Niners to a Super Bowl, you know, almost a decade ago now,
- 1:10:07which is pretty wild. But they've not been a bad team
- 1:10:11since they've been back, you know, like six of the top, 25
- 1:10:16losses are to Ohio State. All right, so you take that
- 1:10:20equation, the record done. Look as bad as it should.
- 1:10:23So I'll take Michigan in this one.
- 1:10:25Got to disagree on some stuff here and there, right?
- 1:10:28Brian, All right, man. Well
- 1:11:04away from home but I will have everything.
- 1:11:07Ready to go. For the game, half-smoked will
- 1:11:10travel, Ron Siegel? Yes, I heard anything breaking
- 1:11:16other than Daniel Jones. 23 mile an hour run.
- 1:11:32Somebody probably started and there's people cursing on The
- 1:11:35Daily fantasy things. Just cursing there.
- 1:11:37Their heads off. Likewise Wayne gulman, the lead
- 1:11:41running back right now. Wow.
- 1:11:44Wow, wow. It's football, man.
- 1:11:47I will that is going to wrap up this episode of The Boundary
