They confronted me in my day of calamity, but the LORD was my support. — Psalm 18:18When David's enemies were too strong, he says simply: the Lord was my stay. Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills; our help is in the Lord. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. The Lord is my helper; I will not fear — what can man do to me? By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain.
