- 0:08Speaker 1: Former MLB exec GM Mets Orioles. He's great. Cheers to you. Yes,
- 0:13Speaker 1: cheers Jim Duquett, cheers, friend of mine for a long time,
- 0:17Speaker 1: love his work. Serious XM. Many other spots to us.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And why the whole deal, Duke. You know why we're here.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's a therapy session. We got ten minutes to just
- 0:26Speaker 1: find out if the Mets are ever going to score
- 0:30Speaker 1: several runs in a game again. They've lost eight in
- 0:32Speaker 1: a row. They were just spanked by the Dodgers. They've
- 0:35Speaker 1: scored twelve runs over those eight. They're seven and twelve
- 0:38Speaker 1: on the season. It's not like they're two and seventeen,
- 0:41Speaker 1: but it feels that way. What are you seeing, man?
- 0:44Speaker 2: You know, ten minute therapy session is never enough. I
- 0:47Speaker 2: know that for sure. But I'd be able to do
- 0:49Speaker 2: the best we can in this. I mean, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 2: I didn't think with the Sodo injury that we'd see
- 0:56Speaker 2: this kind of decline on the offense. Like you know
- 0:59Speaker 2: what Soto means standing lineup, not just what he does
- 1:02Speaker 2: product uh, from the production side of things, but everyone
- 1:05Speaker 2: else around him. They can kind of relax and they
- 1:07Speaker 2: don't have to worry about you know, they got the
- 1:09Speaker 2: guy that can carry it right and they don't have
- 1:11Speaker 2: to try to do too much. Now you're seeing a
- 1:13Speaker 2: lot of guys pressing, and I you know, it starts
- 1:15Speaker 2: with Lindor at the top. Like we're seeing pressing offensively,
- 1:19Speaker 2: we're seeing them with a lot of mental mistakes on
- 1:22Speaker 2: the defensive side. And you know, he's always been a
- 1:26Speaker 2: slow starter. Now you throw in the coming back from
- 1:28Speaker 2: the hammate, right, and then he hasn't worked. He hasn't
- 1:32Speaker 2: played with his new teammates all that much. Like it's
- 1:35Speaker 2: it's been pretty ugly just just with him alone. You know,
- 1:39Speaker 2: it's gonna take some time. With Bashett, Hopefully he's going
- 1:41Speaker 2: to figure it out like we've seen him. I'm not
- 1:44Speaker 2: so sure about Palaco, you know, with the lower half
- 1:47Speaker 2: issues that he's had. You know, two years ago he
- 1:49Speaker 2: had to knee this year the achilles. I'm hoping that
- 1:51Speaker 2: that'll that'll clear up here soon so he can start
- 1:54Speaker 2: to swing the bat better. But I don't know what
- 1:57Speaker 2: you guys thought about the offense coming in. I thought
- 1:59Speaker 2: it was a little top heavy for me, with some
- 2:02Speaker 2: question marks down below. And Roberts swung it better than
- 2:07Speaker 2: I thought, and so has Elva Red and I had
- 2:10Speaker 2: some serious questions with the rest of it, and it's
- 2:12Speaker 2: that part's kind of played out. So I think the
- 2:16Speaker 2: the offense is definitely going to be better. I just
- 2:18Speaker 2: don't know. I don't think it's going to be a
- 2:20Speaker 2: top ten offense. I never thought it was going to
- 2:21Speaker 2: be a top ten offense.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Jim, what's going on Francisco Lindor? I've never seen it
- 2:29Speaker 3: like this. I mean, at least he did hit a
- 2:30Speaker 3: home run and get an RBI, so at least he
- 2:32Speaker 3: checked those boxes. But we're almost twenty games in and
- 2:35Speaker 3: he was sitting on zero and zero for what eighteen
- 2:38Speaker 3: games or whatever it was. So what the heck's going
- 2:40Speaker 3: on with Francisco Lindor? And then the uninterested I don't
- 2:42Speaker 3: want to say it's uninterested, but fans are calling it
- 2:45Speaker 3: the uninterested defense, where he doesn't know how many outs
- 2:47Speaker 3: there are, he forgets what's happening. He's just this isn't
- 2:49Speaker 3: the Francisco Lindor we've seen for his whole career.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I agree with you on that, aga. I don't know
- 2:55Speaker 2: how to put a finger on it. There's a couple
- 2:58Speaker 2: of plays like like you mentioned, didn't know how many
- 3:00Speaker 2: outs there were on a routine double play ball that
- 3:04Speaker 2: he didn't make. Last night was a routine ground ball
- 3:08Speaker 2: that it kind of looked like he got caught by surprise.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And how hard Tiascar or Hernandez can get down the
- 3:14Speaker 2: line on a routine ground ball that should have been
- 3:16Speaker 2: out and it ends up snowballing into a big inning
- 3:20Speaker 2: and ends up costing in the game they score five
- 3:22Speaker 2: runs after you know, Rushing hits a three run homer.
- 3:25Speaker 2: So there's been little things like that that have really
- 3:28Speaker 2: had to scratch in your head, Like to play over
- 3:30Speaker 2: the weekend, when he went far to his left, Simeon
- 3:33Speaker 2: clearly had the ball. That one I kind of could
- 3:36Speaker 2: excuse because he doesn't he doesn't know Semi and yet
- 3:39Speaker 2: they haven't played a lot of games together, and even
- 3:42Speaker 2: though he should have, they didn't play a lot together
- 3:44Speaker 2: obviously in the spring, So there's some excuse there, but
- 3:48Speaker 2: most of the excuses are inexcusable really, And you know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: I'll take this a step further. I don't know if
- 3:55Speaker 2: you guys have watched a lot of those games like
- 3:58Speaker 2: I have, but I don't see him in a acting
- 4:00Speaker 2: with his teammates as much as he normally does too,
- 4:03Speaker 2: and I don't know the reason behind that at the moment,
- 4:07Speaker 2: So there's a lot of things there with the Ndor,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, the power I think will come, Like we've
- 4:13Speaker 2: seen that with guys have had handmade injuries. The power
- 4:17Speaker 2: gets sapped early on. I think it. I don't. I
- 4:19Speaker 2: don't know if he'll be a thirty homer guy this year,
- 4:21Speaker 2: but I think that the power will come. But there
- 4:24Speaker 2: are a lot of questions and not as many answers
- 4:28Speaker 2: on why there's been so many lapses on the defensive side.
- 4:33Speaker 4: How about all the position changes that all of the
- 4:35Speaker 4: that most of these guys have gone through. I get it,
- 4:38Speaker 4: Lindor's still playing shortstop. Do you feel like it's a
- 4:42Speaker 4: collective And we're saying this because they've lost ag straight
- 4:45Speaker 4: and they're not hitting at all. But guys switch positions
- 4:48Speaker 4: and their offense declines because they're putting a lot of
- 4:50Speaker 4: time into that defensive part. They're doing it together as
- 4:54Speaker 4: a team. Now it's not just Polanco, it's not just Bushett,
- 4:58Speaker 4: but you have Beatty playing from places, you have Carson
- 5:01Speaker 4: Bings learning the big leagues. It's it's those things that
- 5:05Speaker 4: do you feel like that's affecting the offense.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I think that it's a it's a big possibility. Kratzy. I.
- 5:12Speaker 2: You know, it really stood out to me when I
- 5:15Speaker 2: was in there spring training camp. And we go and
- 5:17Speaker 2: talk to many as many guys as we can, You go,
- 5:19Speaker 2: all right, let's let's go around the field. And Lindor
- 5:23Speaker 2: is the only guy that's in the position that he
- 5:26Speaker 2: was last year. Every other position is new. You know,
- 5:29Speaker 2: Soto moving to left field is all new. You got
- 5:31Speaker 2: a new center field or new right fielder. The entire infield, first, second,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and third, so you know, and and some of those,
- 5:38Speaker 2: as you mentioned, are our change of positions too. So
- 5:42Speaker 2: it's it's really really unusual to see that, the change
- 5:47Speaker 2: of positions. And then you take into account of them
- 5:50Speaker 2: coming into a new environment and coming to New York,
- 5:53Speaker 2: which takes an adjustment too. And that was the thing
- 5:56Speaker 2: that had me scratching my head this winter with all
- 5:59Speaker 2: of these changes, is you had guys that you knew
- 6:02Speaker 2: could handle New York. They had played, had succeeded in
- 6:05Speaker 2: New York, and now you're kind of ripping it up
- 6:09Speaker 2: and shredding it and bringing in guys that you weren't
- 6:11Speaker 2: quite sure they could handle New York. So you know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: I still don't know which one of those guys, you know,
- 6:17Speaker 2: is gonna gonna be able to handle it or not
- 6:21Speaker 2: handle it. I mean, that still remains to be seen.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It's so darned early. But I know this, when when
- 6:26Speaker 2: they got boot off the field against the Athletics there
- 6:29Speaker 2: after being swept by them. Uh, I think there were
- 6:33Speaker 2: a lot of guys that were stunned at how vociferous,
- 6:36Speaker 2: how loud the fan base can be when they're not happy.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And you know, if you're watching it, obviously you guys
- 6:40Speaker 2: are watching the social media, it's pretty it's pretty loud.
- 6:43Speaker 2: They're calling for everybody's head, So you know that part
- 6:45Speaker 2: of it. You never really know. At the end of
- 6:47Speaker 2: the day, hopefully they're going to figure some things out
- 6:49Speaker 2: and the winning will make a lot of that go away.
- 6:52Speaker 2: But there were a lot of a lot of changes,
- 6:55Speaker 2: and I can't remember, you know, another team having that
- 6:58Speaker 2: many changes when you were effect to win.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Kratz, the world has a cord problem. Wires everywhere. It's
- 7:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty six and it is time to get a
- 7:12Speaker 1: ridge wallet.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Five and one. It's not a wallet, it's a charger.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Look at this thing. It sticks to your phone. You
- 7:18Speaker 4: push the button, it charges your phone while you can
- 7:22Speaker 4: charge two different items at the same time.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Oh and don't forget while it's charging. You got a
- 7:28Speaker 5: little a little lean to John that'll help it sit
- 7:31Speaker 5: right there. Appreciate your ridgewallet.
- 7:33Speaker 1: This is so nice, which is great for me. If
- 7:36Speaker 1: I'm at the airport, I'm watching a game, I can
- 7:38Speaker 1: charge five devices and then I can just watch something
- 7:40Speaker 1: on the phone. Of course they still have the wallets
- 7:42Speaker 1: that are money too, and we know the code. It's
- 7:44Speaker 1: nice and simple. It's foul foul. One thing to pack.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Five ways to power. You can find Ridge's power bank
- 7:51Speaker 1: at best Buy or our listeners can get ten percent
- 7:53Speaker 1: off at Ridge dot com by using code foul at checkout.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Head to Ridge dot com use code foul and you're
- 7:58Speaker 1: all set. After your purchase, they'll ask you where you
- 8:00Speaker 1: heard about him. Please support ft untel him we sent you.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Do you feel like the way the roster has now
- 8:07Speaker 4: leveled out through the entire offseason? Do you feel like
- 8:11Speaker 4: this was David Stearns in the front office's actual plan
- 8:15Speaker 4: because it just seems very disjointed. Did they want to
- 8:19Speaker 4: make us over arching changes?
- 8:22Speaker 5: Yes?
- 8:23Speaker 4: But do you feel like it came out the way
- 8:25Speaker 4: they wanted or does it feel like it just came
- 8:28Speaker 4: out the way that the chips crumbled because they were
- 8:31Speaker 4: putting spots where they didn't get the guy that they
- 8:34Speaker 4: actually wanted.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I don't know if this was their plan A. You know,
- 8:40Speaker 2: I think if you go back, they absolutely wanted Diaz,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and you know, I didn't think they handled that negotiation
- 8:47Speaker 2: very well and lost out. You know, in the end.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Obviously they they were in on Tucker once they had
- 8:56Speaker 2: the conversations about whether he could handle New York or
- 8:59Speaker 2: they felt comfortable in that sense, they they pursued him
- 9:02Speaker 2: hard and heavy and then lost out to him. So
- 9:05Speaker 2: I think those were the cards that they were showing
- 9:07Speaker 2: early on that they wanted those two guys, don't. I
- 9:10Speaker 2: don't know if it really changes, you know, the way
- 9:14Speaker 2: that they start out of the gate. Maybe it's a
- 9:16Speaker 2: little bit better, But you know, I think what they
- 9:18Speaker 2: were able to do in terms of pivoting, I think
- 9:21Speaker 2: was was a you know, overall saved the winter. But again,
- 9:25Speaker 2: once you're making all those changes, I don't know how
- 9:29Speaker 2: you know you could sit there and know for sure,
- 9:30Speaker 2: and you know, in fairness, I did talk to David
- 9:33Speaker 2: Stearns about this. He was pretty you know, uh, let's
- 9:38Speaker 2: say realistic early on that they might have some issues
- 9:41Speaker 2: on the defensive side, which we've seen. So you know,
- 9:44Speaker 2: I think when you take those athletic guys and you
- 9:47Speaker 2: move them, there's going to be some rough patches. But
- 9:49Speaker 2: I do think that they will figure it out. I
- 9:52Speaker 2: think Baschete will figure it out, but I do. And
- 9:54Speaker 2: it's also quite a good possibility that their defense or
- 9:57Speaker 2: their offense rather it's suffering because of it. So, you know,
- 10:01Speaker 2: a lot of these at bats that you were seeing
- 10:02Speaker 2: are not competitive. I thought there was a couple of
- 10:05Speaker 2: games in the Dodgers series that were better, Like there
- 10:10Speaker 2: are bats against Yamamota were better.
- 10:12Speaker 5: I know, they didn't win it.
- 10:13Speaker 2: You know, against Otani, he's going to make you look
- 10:15Speaker 2: silly the way he's pitching right now. But there were
- 10:18Speaker 2: some better at bats. But you know, as Carlos Mendoza
- 10:22Speaker 2: said after the game, they're they're not making excuses. They're
- 10:26Speaker 2: out of excuses. They just need to execute and that
- 10:28Speaker 2: that's something that they haven't been able to do consistently enough.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Hey, Jim, Also, by the way, I thought they were
- 10:36Speaker 3: doing run prevention. So I was moving all these guys.
- 10:38Speaker 3: It's not why they went and traded for Simeon and
- 10:40Speaker 3: some of these other guys because it was supposed to
- 10:41Speaker 3: be run prevention. There are their defense has been preventing
- 10:44Speaker 3: them from winning. Actually it's been kind of bad so
- 10:47Speaker 3: but but I want to ask. I want to ask
- 10:49Speaker 3: about Mendy. Carlos Mendozo is one of my favorite people
- 10:52Speaker 3: to talk to in baseball. And you mentioned him and
- 10:54Speaker 3: he's saying, no more excuses. They made him fire his
- 10:57Speaker 3: coaching staff last year, and you know it was a
- 10:59Speaker 3: former GN. You've fire coaches usually your next right is
- 11:03Speaker 3: he on the hot seat? If they this continues the
- 11:05Speaker 3: way it's going, They're already lost enough in a row.
- 11:07Speaker 3: And I know mess fans already calling for his head,
- 11:09Speaker 3: but I don't think that's going to happen at this point.
- 11:11Speaker 3: But is he on that hot of a seat right now?
- 11:14Speaker 2: So the answer to that question, I had to go
- 11:18Speaker 2: and look at the last manager that lost all of
- 11:22Speaker 2: his coaches in the winter time. It had one year
- 11:25Speaker 2: left on his deal or one and a half years
- 11:27Speaker 2: left in his deal, and then had had these high expectations.
- 11:30Speaker 2: They got up so slow starting. Oh that was last
- 11:32Speaker 2: year Brandon Hyde with the Orioles and he was fired
- 11:36Speaker 2: at May seventeenth. You know what their record was, they
- 11:39Speaker 2: were thirteen under five hundred. Now, they didn't want to
- 11:43Speaker 2: fire him, but ownership basically said you got to do something,
- 11:45Speaker 2: and you couldn't fire the coaches at that point because
- 11:47Speaker 2: they were new. So do I think Carlos is on
- 11:50Speaker 2: the hot seat right now? No, But you know, if
- 11:53Speaker 2: you get into you know, a month from now, or
- 11:55Speaker 2: even less than a month from now, and you're starting
- 11:58Speaker 2: to see this team and you know, still play the
- 12:02Speaker 2: way they are and still having the mental lapses and
- 12:04Speaker 2: all of these struggles, I do think he's going to
- 12:06Speaker 2: be coming getting on the hot seat. So you know,
- 12:09Speaker 2: I think that. To me, it's unfortunate because I don't
- 12:12Speaker 2: think it's his fault. I think early on this is
- 12:15Speaker 2: more about roster construction than anything else. But you know
- 12:18Speaker 2: the reality of it, as we've seen, you know, if
- 12:21Speaker 2: there's one that has to go, it usually is the
- 12:24Speaker 2: manager first, and I think that would be completely unfair.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And let's hope. I'm with you, ag Cratzy. I love
- 12:30Speaker 2: talking to to Carlos. I think he's and I think
- 12:33Speaker 2: he's a good manager, but you know, the reality is
- 12:36Speaker 2: in our sport is there is going to be someone
- 12:38Speaker 2: that is going to take the fall if they continue
- 12:41Speaker 2: to play this poorly.
- 12:43Speaker 4: All right, Jim talking about an owner firing people. Steve
- 12:47Speaker 4: Cohen fired a tweet out after the loss on Tuesday.
- 12:50Speaker 4: We love the fact that the owners fire and tweets out.
- 12:53Speaker 4: As a former GM, do you love that from your
- 12:57Speaker 4: owner that you fire and tweets out and you're trying
- 12:59Speaker 4: to do your.
- 13:00Speaker 2: No no, and and you know, I think I go
- 13:02Speaker 2: back to when he I think it was maybe three
- 13:07Speaker 2: years ago he was questioning the hitters and the hitter
- 13:11Speaker 2: in the approach of the hitters and even the hitting coach.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I mean it was just a couple of years ago,
- 13:16Speaker 2: and he's like, oh man, it's you just don't want
- 13:18Speaker 2: want that, you know, happening. You don't need the negativity, right,
- 13:22Speaker 2: you don't need your owner piling on. I think from
- 13:24Speaker 2: from that perspective of what he said, it was a
- 13:28Speaker 2: I would say a fair Hopefully fans took it this way,
- 13:31Speaker 2: but it was more positive than anything else. He was
- 13:34Speaker 2: trying to talk about approaches. He was talking about one
- 13:36Speaker 2: Soto who by the way sounds like he's been running,
- 13:40Speaker 2: if it's not full speed, pretty close to it and
- 13:43Speaker 2: is getting better quickly. So it was he was trying
- 13:47Speaker 2: to give some optimism, I think, to the fan base,
- 13:50Speaker 2: and so that that's how I would take it generally.
- 13:54Speaker 2: As the GM, you don't really want your owner, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 2: compounding any the issues or or causing more problems around
- 14:03Speaker 2: the clubhouse. And I think that part of it has
- 14:05Speaker 2: been cleaned up. It's been most of the time. I
- 14:08Speaker 2: think when when Steve is tweeted, it's been more directed
- 14:11Speaker 2: at the fan base to try to get them to
- 14:13Speaker 2: calm down. But as we know with the Mets fan base,
- 14:16Speaker 2: there's at least a third of them that are absolutely insane,
- 14:19Speaker 2: no matter whether the team's playing well or not. So
- 14:22Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything you can really do about it.
- 14:25Speaker 2: But I took that tweet obviously as more of a positive,
- 14:28Speaker 2: you know, more hopeful than anything else.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Hey, a couple more for you. So David Stearns obviously
- 14:36Speaker 1: wants some time for this roster to settle itself in.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I know he's not going anywhere anytime soon, but can
- 14:43Speaker 1: you operate that way where you kind of gut a
- 14:45Speaker 1: roster and you try and put it all together quickly,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and things can fall on you fast. It just seems
- 14:51Speaker 1: like the urgency meter is I don't I don't want
- 14:55Speaker 1: to say it's not being recognized. But when you do
- 14:58Speaker 1: some of that, and you've seen that in the past,
- 14:59Speaker 1: I mean used to do this all the time. The
- 15:01Speaker 1: Brewers deal with turnover, you know, when the Mets do
- 15:04Speaker 1: it this way, and clearly they don't like the sauce
- 15:06Speaker 1: that they had last year, I get it, but I
- 15:08Speaker 1: just don't feel like you can handle like a one
- 15:11Speaker 1: year layover when you also have some players that like
- 15:13Speaker 1: Boba Schett, who I think can still opt out right
- 15:16Speaker 1: after is it after this year, after the next year,
- 15:19Speaker 1: Like it's I just don't see the oh well, just
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, preach patients like either make the playoffs or
- 15:23Speaker 1: you don't. In my mind, and the one other part
- 15:26Speaker 1: in the evaluation process that I'm still struggling with is
- 15:29Speaker 1: that I do feel as if they eventually are going
- 15:32Speaker 1: to have to get away from the we can't touch
- 15:35Speaker 1: starters for too long of a period of time, like
- 15:38Speaker 1: you know, playing foots you with mid range starters and
- 15:41Speaker 1: signing them to three year deals where the money is
- 15:43Speaker 1: still high versus you know, if you like Freddy Peralta
- 15:47Speaker 1: and one party you know is offering one number and
- 15:50Speaker 1: one's at another and it's not that far away, give
- 15:52Speaker 1: him the extra damn year and sign the guy.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Right right now. There's a lot there, you know, I
- 15:58Speaker 2: agree with you and the starting rotations again, finding the
- 16:01Speaker 2: right the right starter, and maybe it's maybe it's Freddy,
- 16:04Speaker 2: maybe it's Scooble.
- 16:05Speaker 1: You know.
- 16:06Speaker 2: The hard part with that is in free agency is
- 16:08Speaker 2: you're going to be competing against the Dodgers, probably again,
- 16:11Speaker 2: and so you've already lost out to a couple of guys,
- 16:14Speaker 2: including losing out on Otani, losing out on Sasaki like
- 16:17Speaker 2: everybody has. But the Mets specifically are pursuing a lot
- 16:22Speaker 2: of those guys and they've lost to the Dodgers. So
- 16:24Speaker 2: what makes you think you can you can beat them
- 16:28Speaker 2: when it comes to Schooble as a free agent. So
- 16:31Speaker 2: so there's you know, those elements for sure. I think,
- 16:34Speaker 2: you know, when you look at a big turnover like that,
- 16:37Speaker 2: I was trying to remember a roster of any kind
- 16:40Speaker 2: that you know missed out by you know, they missed
- 16:43Speaker 2: out by a game by the way, getting into the
- 16:45Speaker 2: postseason last year and it wasn't great the whole look,
- 16:48Speaker 2: but they still is still only one game, and they
- 16:50Speaker 2: would have been in the postseason that kind of turnover
- 16:54Speaker 2: and then trying to win again. It's you know, I
- 16:57Speaker 2: wouldn't have done it that way. I know when I
- 16:59Speaker 2: talked to a lot of general managers and former gms,
- 17:02Speaker 2: they wouldn't have done it that way. Now, maybe this
- 17:04Speaker 2: will still work. You know, David Searn's talked about an
- 17:08Speaker 2: urgency or he even kind of admitted at the end
- 17:10Speaker 2: of last year He's like, man, maybe I didn't have
- 17:13Speaker 2: a sense of urgency in addressing the starting rotation for
- 17:17Speaker 2: the second half. And I think that's a fair self evaluation.
- 17:21Speaker 2: So I would hope that that would not be the
- 17:24Speaker 2: case this year, that there would be more urgency. You know,
- 17:26Speaker 2: he's done it with a couple of relievers already. But
- 17:29Speaker 2: you know, if if you know a starter like Peterson,
- 17:32Speaker 2: if he continues to struggle, I hope they're not going
- 17:34Speaker 2: to continue, you know, along that path and keep him,
- 17:38Speaker 2: keep running him out there when you have some other
- 17:40Speaker 2: guys you got to at least give a shot to.
- 17:41Speaker 2: So there's that aspect of it, and I think the
- 17:43Speaker 2: final thing on the on the pitching side is I
- 17:46Speaker 2: think they're hopeful to piece together the rotation, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 2: get more out of one or two guys like they
- 17:54Speaker 2: have with Holmes, let's say, you know, which I thought
- 17:57Speaker 2: was a good signing, but but developed their own top
- 18:01Speaker 2: of the rotation starters obviously other than McClain. They're hoping
- 18:04Speaker 2: that Tongue turns out to be that guy, Christian Scott
- 18:08Speaker 2: hopefully too so. But here's the thing you can do both.
- 18:11Speaker 2: You can sign the really good, inexpensive free agents and
- 18:14Speaker 2: develop them like that's what they should be doing. And
- 18:17Speaker 2: I don't think they've quite figured that part.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Of it out yet.
- 18:21Speaker 4: All right, let's go to the bullpen, specifically, Devin Williams.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Do you feel like the tightrope that he walks or
- 18:29Speaker 4: has walked since he went to the Yankees, since he's
- 18:32Speaker 4: now with the Mets early on in this season, do
- 18:34Speaker 4: you feel like that's a tight rope that he's going
- 18:36Speaker 4: to be able to walk for this season or the
- 18:41Speaker 4: length of this contract in the New York market where
- 18:44Speaker 4: he kind of admitted, you know what, last year at
- 18:46Speaker 4: the beginning of the year kind of got in his
- 18:47Speaker 4: head and then the other guy they brought in, Luke Weaver,
- 18:50Speaker 4: it's kind of doing.
- 18:51Speaker 5: The same thing.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know, I think I have I definitely
- 18:55Speaker 2: have concerns on it.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Now.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Devon's been off to a pretty good start, Brooks rarely,
- 19:00Speaker 2: Weaver had has had a couple of crash and burns.
- 19:04Speaker 2: So I'm not sure if that's how that's going to
- 19:06Speaker 2: end up working, because you know, you guys saw that
- 19:08Speaker 2: when he was with the Yankees after he had his
- 19:10Speaker 2: hammy issue and on the injury list, he wasn't the
- 19:12Speaker 2: same guy as velocity was down and he didn't have
- 19:15Speaker 2: the same results. So, you know, relief pitching is in
- 19:20Speaker 2: bullpens in general, is so hard to build, and and
- 19:23Speaker 2: there's so much inconsistency, Like you know, the answer might
- 19:27Speaker 2: look like yes now, and you know a week later
- 19:31Speaker 2: the answers no. But I think with Devin, I'm hopeful,
- 19:35Speaker 2: you know, David Stearns obviously knew him from Milwaukee. I'm
- 19:38Speaker 2: hopeful that he learned from what happened there last year.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Like if you talked in any Yankee fan, they think
- 19:45Speaker 2: he was absolute worst reliever in the sport. Now, he
- 19:48Speaker 2: wasn't that bad, but he wasn't good either, right, So
- 19:51Speaker 2: you know I think that that that highlights how how
- 19:56Speaker 2: much pressure there is on him to almost be perfect
- 19:58Speaker 2: and he can't be in those roles. Well, I have
- 20:00Speaker 2: a little concerned on what the reaction is going to
- 20:03Speaker 2: be when he blows, you know, two in a row
- 20:06Speaker 2: over a weekend, when the team's at home. You know,
- 20:09Speaker 2: the fans are going to let him have it, and
- 20:10Speaker 2: how does he react to it? So you know this,
- 20:13Speaker 2: this is a long answer to say, I don't know
- 20:15Speaker 2: how he's got to handle it. I'm hopeful that he
- 20:17Speaker 2: will based off the fact that David Stearns knows him,
- 20:21Speaker 2: you know so well, but there's no as we know,
- 20:23Speaker 2: there's no guarantee that any of these guys are going
- 20:25Speaker 2: to be able to handle it.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Well, that was fine. Everyone get off the chair at
- 20:31Speaker 1: the psychologist and let me know how you're feeling.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I'm in a slump.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Actually you are, You're not slumping, Duke talking.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Myself out of anything. I was hoping i'd feel better
- 20:43Speaker 2: after this, but not really.

- 22:10Speaker 1: more about it later. Let's start with the top ten.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Now we're going to go off the list from the
- 22:15Speaker 1: Athletic and we can show that list now. I want
- 22:18Speaker 1: to make this important note. Their list came out on Tuesday.
- 22:25Speaker 1: We are doing this segment on Thursday, two days later,
- 22:28Speaker 1: for example, two losses later. For the Mets, I'm sure
- 22:30Speaker 1: they'd boot them out of the top ten based on
- 22:33Speaker 1: the return tire, But for now they have Dodgers one, Yankees,
- 22:37Speaker 1: Braves three, Mariners four, Brewers, Philly six, Padres seven, Cubs eight,
- 22:43Speaker 1: Tigers nine, and the Mets ten. So aja, less about
- 22:48Speaker 1: your thoughts on which team should be whare since it's
- 22:50Speaker 1: sodamn early, and more on some of the players that
- 22:53Speaker 1: they picked out as surprise performers to start the year,
- 22:57Speaker 1: either positive or negative. I'll throw a few out there
- 23:00Speaker 1: and see if you want to react to what they
- 23:01Speaker 1: put in the list. On the positive side, what Andy
- 23:05Speaker 1: pie Haes is doing, what Ben Rice is doing, what
- 23:09Speaker 1: Justin Crawford is doing on ace percentage wise, what Mason
- 23:12Speaker 1: Miller's doing, what Chandler Simpson is doing. A couple that
- 23:15Speaker 1: have been slower starters, like Kyle Rolly and Alex Bragman.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Those are some of the players they pointed out in
- 23:21Speaker 1: their top ten, although Rays is in sixteen, but the
- 23:23Speaker 1: rest of them are in the top ten for teams
- 23:25Speaker 1: that are listed there.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Oh Andy pie Is what he's doing has been really
- 23:30Speaker 3: really good. Obviously, Justin Crawford coming up in a city
- 23:35Speaker 3: like Philadelphi's getting on base, He's playing good defense in
- 23:37Speaker 3: center field. I meanyeah, obviously this is a couple of
- 23:40Speaker 3: days ago. But man, the Mets in the top ten.
- 23:41Speaker 3: They should be in the bottom ten. I'm sorry. With
- 23:43Speaker 3: the way they're playing, the way they're hitting, I don't
- 23:46Speaker 3: know how they store even in the top ten. Even
- 23:47Speaker 3: before losing those two games. They're just not very good
- 23:50Speaker 3: right now.
- 23:51Speaker 5: Now.
- 23:51Speaker 3: It's right now. A month from now, they might be
- 23:53Speaker 3: on an eight game winning streak and we're talking about
- 23:55Speaker 3: how great they're playing. So if we're doing this just
- 23:57Speaker 3: off right now, the pottery has got to be up
- 23:59Speaker 3: there too. They got to be two or three behind
- 24:01Speaker 3: the Dodgers right with the way they're playing and the
- 24:03Speaker 3: way they're winning the game. So I like this list,
- 24:05Speaker 3: But yeah, I think I think if you're going to
- 24:07Speaker 3: do this, and you do it, you know, obviously a
- 24:09Speaker 3: couple of days later we're getting to it. I think
- 24:11Speaker 3: you got to move the Padres up and the Mets
- 24:13Speaker 3: in the bottom ten right now.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Yeah, obviously Pajes after we saw what he did. I
- 24:18Speaker 4: think he had one RBI in the postseason. I think
- 24:20Speaker 4: he hit like one. I don't even know if he
- 24:24Speaker 4: hit one hundred in the postseason. Like they were, they
- 24:26Speaker 4: were finding places to put him in just defensively. But
- 24:30Speaker 4: to me, it's about Mason Miller. I mean, the people
- 24:32Speaker 4: like the surprises. You knew a guy like that was
- 24:35Speaker 4: going to come in and dominate. He's going to be
- 24:37Speaker 4: the closer. That's why they traded for him, because they
- 24:39Speaker 4: weren't going to re sign Robert Suarez. And then he
- 24:43Speaker 4: went out and does this eight innings, twenty punch outs.
- 24:47Speaker 4: That is just a ridiculous number of punch outs. Like
- 24:51Speaker 4: they I was trying to look up to see what
- 24:53Speaker 4: his era plus is for the season, but they don't.
- 24:56Speaker 4: They don't even calculate that yet, So it's like what
- 24:59Speaker 4: he's doing is uncharted territories. Like like somebody we were
- 25:04Speaker 4: talking about the other day, like chance of one hundred
- 25:07Speaker 4: and fifty strikeouts for a reliever that has sixty innings
- 25:11Speaker 4: seventy innings, Like that's ridiculous. That's like I think, I mean,
- 25:16Speaker 4: he would, he would beat Billy Wagner's number. I think
- 25:18Speaker 4: I forget what his number of strikeouts per nine average
- 25:22Speaker 4: was in his best years, but what he's doing is incredible,
- 25:26Speaker 4: and I think it makes the games a lot easier
- 25:29Speaker 4: for the offense and the starting rotation when you only
- 25:32Speaker 4: had to play eight innings.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Kratz while you're on some surprises. What about Justin Crawford
- 25:43Speaker 1: for the Phillies and the way that he's been getting
- 25:45Speaker 1: on base. I think some have said, or maybe it
- 25:47Speaker 1: was Ben Davis the other day on our show. Yeah,
- 25:49Speaker 1: let him loose a little bit on the bass paths too,
- 25:51Speaker 1: because he's getting on and he's super fast. But thoughts
- 25:53Speaker 1: on him early on for a Phillies team that's been.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Mey definitely a team. I mean, he's got to that spark.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I heard Michael Young used to talk about how when
- 26:04Speaker 4: he came over from the Rangers. He was like, the
- 26:07Speaker 4: young guys need to bring energy, be the spark and
- 26:10Speaker 4: be quiet every single day. The veterans have to feed
- 26:14Speaker 4: off of that energy. And I think he is a
- 26:16Speaker 4: prime case of the Phillies need the veteran hitters, which
- 26:21Speaker 4: I think they'll be fine, need to be able to
- 26:23Speaker 4: feed off of his energy. The part of running or
- 26:26Speaker 4: not running, like what Ben Davis said, Like he's getting
- 26:29Speaker 4: on base at a ridiculous clip. This is the issue
- 26:32Speaker 4: that they feel like they were going to run into
- 26:34Speaker 4: if he was batting ninth.
- 26:36Speaker 5: Yes, it's awesome.
- 26:37Speaker 4: They go left, right, left, right, left right, But now
- 26:41Speaker 4: you have Trey Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryce Harper hitting
- 26:47Speaker 4: like each one of those guys has a chance to
- 26:51Speaker 4: drive you in from first base. So I know Paco
- 26:54Speaker 4: figure row over at first base, the first base coach
- 26:56Speaker 4: is saying, hey, we got some spots here, but we
- 26:59Speaker 4: got to be one hundred percent to be able to
- 27:02Speaker 4: let him go. And I think it's look, I kind
- 27:06Speaker 4: of agree with Ben, and I don't agree with Ben, Like, look,
- 27:08Speaker 4: he's doing really well. Allow him to continue to have
- 27:13Speaker 4: success and don't put him in spots where you know what, Hey,
- 27:16Speaker 4: we're gonna make this. We're gonna We're gonna be safe
- 27:20Speaker 4: eighty percent of the time here because right now on
- 27:22Speaker 4: top of that lineup isn't really doing a whole lot.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Trey had a nice homer yesterday, Harper had won late
- 27:30Speaker 4: in the game. Maybe that's when he gets scorching hot.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Schwarbers leading the team in homers. But I think if
- 27:37Speaker 4: you want him to have his full package, if you
- 27:38Speaker 4: want that fool like whoa, this guy is a difference
- 27:41Speaker 4: maker in this lineup. I think Ben's right, he does
- 27:44Speaker 4: have to start running, and they possibly move him up
- 27:47Speaker 4: to seventh slot, Bryson Stott down at ninth.
- 27:51Speaker 1: We'll see, hey, one more in the top ten than
- 27:54Speaker 1: I want to get your thoughts on, and then we'll
- 27:56Speaker 1: move to the bottom ten. AJ thoughts on the Atlanta
- 27:59Speaker 1: Braves and their nice start to the season given the
- 28:03Speaker 1: rotation injuries that have hit them. The player that was
- 28:07Speaker 1: pointed out by the Athletic was Mauricio Dubon, who is
- 28:10Speaker 1: off to a great start and can play a number
- 28:12Speaker 1: of positions. You've got Kim out and Dubon can fill
- 28:15Speaker 1: in there. He can even fill in some outfield and
- 28:17Speaker 1: I think he did that a little bit with center,
- 28:20Speaker 1: but mostly some shortstop for him. For now, he's hitting
- 28:23Speaker 1: three thirty three, three seventy one, five point fifteen, so
- 28:25Speaker 1: he's smoking hot. Eventually, you hope that he can bounce
- 28:28Speaker 1: around when everyone is healthy. You remember that Braves took
- 28:31Speaker 1: on some money to save money for the Astros, and
- 28:34Speaker 1: they took Nick Allen on. There's a pretty big difference
- 28:37Speaker 1: between those two players. Nick Allen's just much more of
- 28:39Speaker 1: a glob only guy. Dubon usually we'll give you more
- 28:42Speaker 1: around league average hitting production. So your thoughts on them
- 28:46Speaker 1: and Bryce Elder two I think should be on the
- 28:49Speaker 1: surprise list. He's shoving.
- 28:51Speaker 3: The Braids are playing well. I just don't know if
- 28:53Speaker 3: they have enough health in their rotation. I think they're
- 28:56Speaker 3: both knowing the Glaciers and Suarez at the back end,
- 28:58Speaker 3: but do they have enough health After Chris Sales Elk,
- 29:01Speaker 3: can Elder do a Ca Lopez stay out there?
- 29:03Speaker 5: Right?
- 29:03Speaker 3: They're gonna need some innings from some guys that are
- 29:06Speaker 3: probably not counting on going into the offseason and into
- 29:09Speaker 3: this season early. So I love the Braves. I think
- 29:11Speaker 3: Matt Olsen's off to a nice start. It looks like
- 29:13Speaker 3: their offense is bouncing back a little bit, and Dubon
- 29:15Speaker 3: won a Gold Glove as a utility guy, so it's
- 29:17Speaker 3: not like he isn't been doing hasn't been doing this
- 29:20Speaker 3: all the time. He can play a bunch of positions
- 29:22Speaker 3: in him playing shortstop, centerfield, giving guys a day off.
- 29:25Speaker 3: That's a nice luxury for Walt Wise to have. Do
- 29:28Speaker 3: I think the Braves are good?
- 29:29Speaker 5: Yes?
- 29:30Speaker 3: Do I think the Braves the third best team right
- 29:31Speaker 3: now in baseball? Probably not, but they're playing well right
- 29:35Speaker 3: now and they deserve some credit for how they've come
- 29:37Speaker 3: out of the gates.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Yeah, the fact that they're playing well, I don't hate
- 29:40Speaker 4: them that they're up there. Everyone else is kind of
- 29:42Speaker 4: playing mid and across the board. To me, the surprise, yes,
- 29:46Speaker 4: my ex teammate Marisa Dubon awesome.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Great. Sean Murphy's out right now.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Yes, Drake Baldwin was Rookie of the Year last year,
- 29:56Speaker 4: so maybe it's not a surprise the start that he's
- 29:58Speaker 4: had in the fact that he's up and been that
- 30:01Speaker 4: guy that catches. In the days that he's not catching,
- 30:04Speaker 4: he's dhing. To me, I think the start that Drake
- 30:07Speaker 4: Baldwin's had is really he's kind of been that catalyst
- 30:11Speaker 4: when the team wasn't scoring a ton. Matt Olson has
- 30:14Speaker 4: started to come come alive a little bit. Dom Smith
- 30:18Speaker 4: has had some massive hits for them, But to me,
- 30:21Speaker 4: like Drake Baldwin has just from opening day till two
- 30:26Speaker 4: nights ago, like he has he has had he has
- 30:30Speaker 4: really kind of been that like not captain, but kind
- 30:33Speaker 4: of the dude that's made the position players get going.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Here good call.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Okay, let's get to the bottom tier. Middles boring, so
- 30:44Speaker 1: we want to do the bottom ten. Here's the list.
- 30:48Speaker 1: White Sox are at thirty, Rockies twenty nine, Cardinals at
- 30:53Speaker 1: twenty eight. They have the Giants at twenty seven, the
- 30:56Speaker 1: Angels at twenty six, putting the Nats at twenty five,
- 31:00Speaker 1: the Reds of twenty four. I think that's that one
- 31:02Speaker 1: stands out to me. I think the Reds look pretty
- 31:04Speaker 1: good right now and the A's are at twenty three.
- 31:06Speaker 1: That's tough, and I get it. It is difficult to
- 31:09Speaker 1: knock teams out, and you don't want to judge too
- 31:11Speaker 1: much on the meginning of the season when most teams
- 31:13Speaker 1: are within five games of five hundred d Backs at
- 31:15Speaker 1: twenty two, Royals at twenty one. AJ thoughts on this crew,
- 31:20Speaker 1: and I'll give you a couple names to on the
- 31:22Speaker 1: surprise side that they've pointed out so far. Slower start
- 31:26Speaker 1: for Nick Kurtz, fast fast start for Jose Soriano. They
- 31:31Speaker 1: used the whole lineup for the Nationals looking pretty good
- 31:34Speaker 1: so far on offense. Those are a few that they
- 31:36Speaker 1: threw out there.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Well, Abrams is having a nice start, right, I mean
- 31:41Speaker 3: in Washington. I mean he's doing all right. And Washington
- 31:45Speaker 3: scores a ton of runs every game, so they're doing nice.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Listen.
- 31:48Speaker 3: I mean the White Sox, the fact that they're still
- 31:50Speaker 3: behind the Rockies after this you know, rebuild and what
- 31:53Speaker 3: they brought up. But I can't argue that the White
- 31:55Speaker 3: Sox aren't thirty on this team. Have you guys looked
- 31:57Speaker 3: at the White Sox lineups and their ops's and what
- 31:59Speaker 3: they're put this lineup? Have you guys ever, have you
- 32:02Speaker 3: guys looked at it? It's man, it's rough. I mean
- 32:06Speaker 3: Vargas one fifty five five eighty nine, Midra two O
- 32:10Speaker 3: three six O four, Mark Commy one seventy nine eight eleven.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Because he's sitting some homers, but he hadn't early, He
- 32:14Speaker 3: said homers when they really haven't been a big deal Pereira,
- 32:18Speaker 3: I mean he didn't have enough bats. Kiro one forty six,
- 32:20Speaker 3: three eighty five ops right, been attending one seventy eight
- 32:24Speaker 3: five thirty four. These are guys that they were counting
- 32:27Speaker 3: on coming in the season being better. Is is Kyle
- 32:30Speaker 3: Teal being out? Mean this much as this White Sox team,
- 32:32Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's it's it's saddening for a White
- 32:35Speaker 3: Sox fans to look up and I mean there it
- 32:37Speaker 3: is like they' they're hitting one ninety three as a team.
- 32:39Speaker 3: They have under a six hundred OPS as a team.
- 32:41Speaker 3: As a team, guys, this is unbelievable to me that
- 32:45Speaker 3: you know, with all this young talent they're supposed to have,
- 32:47Speaker 3: where are they outfield? Where's the outfield? If you can
- 32:50Speaker 3: find me a worse outfield in baseball right now? I
- 32:52Speaker 3: don't know. I'm sorry, it is what it is. But man,
- 32:55Speaker 3: I can't, as much as this Paint's can say, I
- 32:57Speaker 3: can't make an argument for why the White Sox aren't
- 32:59Speaker 3: thirty right now now with's the way they swing the
- 33:01Speaker 3: bat and the way they've played it's it's bad. But
- 33:03Speaker 3: the rest of these, I mean, the A should be higher.
- 33:05Speaker 3: I feel like the red should be higher. So this
- 33:08Speaker 3: will move. Come back in a month and let's see
- 33:10Speaker 3: where all these teams are.
- 33:12Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 33:13Speaker 4: I don't know if the White Sox are gonna are
- 33:15Speaker 4: gonna move, and it might be a battle as much
- 33:17Speaker 4: as the Dodgers are gonna be number one the entire
- 33:19Speaker 4: year in the power ranking. The way the White Sox
- 33:22Speaker 4: are hitting, and the fact that these are the dudes
- 33:25Speaker 4: that are gonna play like this is what you got,
- 33:27Speaker 4: like can't can't look anywhere else, they might stay at
- 33:31Speaker 4: thirty the whole time. The Rockies, the Rockies are gonna
- 33:34Speaker 4: swing it. They're just gonna give up a ton of
- 33:36Speaker 4: runs too. To me, out of the whole bottom the
- 33:39Speaker 4: bottom part of the power rankings is the Cardinals. One
- 33:42Speaker 4: of the Cardinals to me, are playing way better than
- 33:44Speaker 4: I thought they would. I thought they had a good
- 33:47Speaker 4: group of young guys, but they were just good. There
- 33:51Speaker 4: was a lot of hype, you know. I think wins
- 33:53Speaker 4: was was the best player in that group. But now
- 33:57Speaker 4: you have different guys in that lineup that are stepping up.
- 34:00Speaker 4: JJ Weatherhold is doing an incredible job jumping into the
- 34:04Speaker 4: big leagues. The fact that he can hit I think
- 34:06Speaker 4: all three of his home runs I know is the
- 34:09Speaker 4: two home run game the other day were apo to me.
- 34:12Speaker 4: That puts you at a different level of power, a
- 34:15Speaker 4: different level of ability to.
- 34:17Speaker 5: Hit in the big leagues.
- 34:18Speaker 4: But the real surprise is Jordan Walker, like the dude
- 34:22Speaker 4: eight home runs I think now eleven game hitting streak.
- 34:25Speaker 4: You know, you're talking about hottest starts for hitting home
- 34:30Speaker 4: runs in Cardinal's history, names like Mark McGuire, Like, what
- 34:35Speaker 4: he's doing is incredible, and every time he hits a
- 34:39Speaker 4: home run, I don't know if people that don't watch
- 34:41Speaker 4: the Cardinals see it, but he goes to the bullpen
- 34:44Speaker 4: and he goes like this, I don't see anybody else
- 34:46Speaker 4: doing that, And you know, maybe there's some motivation because
- 34:51Speaker 4: a guy like this the last two seasons that he's had.
- 34:55Speaker 4: I brought it up the other day. But if the
- 34:57Speaker 4: Cardinals weren't in a rebuild, if they did, like just say,
- 35:01Speaker 4: you know what, we don't like the path that the
- 35:03Speaker 4: organization's going, We're going to go in and rebuild.
- 35:06Speaker 5: He might not be in the big leagues.
- 35:07Speaker 4: He might have to be figuring this out in the
- 35:09Speaker 4: minor leagues and the fact that he is stuck around
- 35:14Speaker 4: in the big leagues. Continue to work at what he
- 35:16Speaker 4: knows he needs to get better at, whether he worked
- 35:19Speaker 4: at it before or he didn't, and now he's committing
- 35:22Speaker 4: to it. He's elevating pitches, he's elevating breaking balls, heaters
- 35:26Speaker 4: pitches away, pitches in and his hit tool is now
- 35:31Speaker 4: combined with his power. Oh and he's twenty three years old.
- 35:35Speaker 4: So every time he hits a home run and goes
- 35:36Speaker 4: like this is the bullpens, I hope it's because, you
- 35:40Speaker 4: know what, I.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Just hit another homer. It's going to cost a little
- 35:42Speaker 5: bit more to extend me.
- 35:44Speaker 1: If you're the Cardinals, hey, you know, just looking at
- 35:48Speaker 1: the fans in the chat, they don't like where the
- 35:52Speaker 1: Diamondbacks are being placed since they've looked pretty good. And
- 35:56Speaker 1: then I'd say the biggest complaints right now are coming
- 35:59Speaker 1: from fans and me about the Reds. And they did
- 36:02Speaker 1: point out how we pointed out this list came out
- 36:04Speaker 1: two days ago. I don't care. Two days ago didn't
- 36:07Speaker 1: change it for me. With Cincinnati to be in the
- 36:09Speaker 1: bottom ten right now, I know that now they're eleven
- 36:12Speaker 1: and seven and have the current best record or tied
- 36:15Speaker 1: with the best record in the National League Central But
- 36:18Speaker 1: aj for me, if this team figures out some offense
- 36:23Speaker 1: from their outfields and that should be attainable at the
- 36:26Speaker 1: trade deadline, I know it's far away. They look pretty
- 36:29Speaker 1: damn good to me. I think the way they focused
- 36:32Speaker 1: on pitching is real. At some point, you hope they
- 36:35Speaker 1: get Hunter Green back, but I don't even think they
- 36:37Speaker 1: really need him right now with the amount of arm
- 36:39Speaker 1: talent that they have.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Oh Green and Lodola, right, yeah, which is scary.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Look, I mean they already look great.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Genos Wors have this much swagger with him. Whenever he goes,
- 36:52Speaker 3: he just makes teams that much better.
- 36:53Speaker 5: He is.
- 36:54Speaker 3: He just the ultimate vibes guy. I mean, he's awesome.
- 36:58Speaker 3: And you see them and the Giants are. They're also
- 37:00Speaker 3: you know, talking a little trash to each other back
- 37:02Speaker 3: and forth, so that's also fun. Yeah, the Reds should
- 37:05Speaker 3: be higher. I don't know how they're in the bottom
- 37:06Speaker 3: ten in the A's too. I'll see it again, the
- 37:08Speaker 3: A's and the bottom ten surprises me because the a'ser
- 37:12Speaker 3: are over five hundred even after the way they started
- 37:14Speaker 3: so the Diamondbacks are playing all right. You know the
- 37:17Speaker 3: rest of this list you can just I mean, the Royals,
- 37:21Speaker 3: the rest of them are just watched. But to me,
- 37:23Speaker 3: the Reds in the aes should be at least.
- 37:25Speaker 5: In the middle ten.
- 37:26Speaker 3: How are they not in the middle ten. It's maybe
- 37:28Speaker 3: not top ten, but in the teams at least.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I watched a little more Reds this year because I
- 37:35Speaker 4: picked them to make the playoffs, so I'm like, okay,
- 37:36Speaker 4: I want to watch their games. They're pitching was nasty
- 37:39Speaker 4: last year. They're pitching missed out on Hunter Green last
- 37:42Speaker 4: year too. The fact that Lodolo right now and Green
- 37:45Speaker 4: are down, Rett Lauder and Chase Burns have stepped up
- 37:49Speaker 4: and punched out the world, and the fact that they've
- 37:54Speaker 4: continued it with their rotation. They've continued it with a
- 37:56Speaker 4: bullpen that besides the me other Pegan, very few people
- 38:01Speaker 4: know what they're bringing out of that bullpen, but there's
- 38:03Speaker 4: some absolutely filthy Frisbee sliders. If you watch a Reds
- 38:07Speaker 4: game of different guys that are running out of that bullpen.
- 38:11Speaker 5: And the fact that.
- 38:11Speaker 4: This lineup has guys who I've been expecting to be
- 38:17Speaker 4: really good at some point with Elie de la Cruz
- 38:22Speaker 4: finally hitting some right handed home runs last year. Maybe
- 38:25Speaker 4: that injury was a bigger deal than we thought when
- 38:27Speaker 4: he had that power outage. The fact that Spencer Steer
- 38:31Speaker 4: I think has more in the tank. Matt McClain. Maybe
- 38:35Speaker 4: if every day back from that shoulder surgery, he's going
- 38:39Speaker 4: to get more and more power. But the story is
- 38:42Speaker 4: last night's hero Sal Sal the way that he is
- 38:47Speaker 4: hitting as a rookie again. He's taking balls to the
- 38:50Speaker 4: opposite field with power. It's in citizens back, I mean,
- 38:53Speaker 4: it's in the great American small park.
- 38:56Speaker 5: But he can hit. He can hit, and for a rookie.
- 39:00Speaker 4: Or has an opportunity to do some things in in Cincinnati.
- 39:05Speaker 4: And I think he's only twenty two, if I'm not mistaken,
- 39:09Speaker 4: he has some things he can do, some things in
- 39:11Speaker 4: Cincinnati that if he continues this, he's gonna give Nolan
- 39:14Speaker 4: McLay in a real run for his money for Rookie
- 39:17Speaker 4: of the Year this year.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Correct, he's twenty two years old. He's bawling right now
- 39:22Speaker 1: for the Reds. If you have thoughts, let us know,
