- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:17Speaker 1: On today's episode, we are discussing Aussie at Heart, which
- 0:21Speaker 1: originally aired on the Hallmark Channel on August fifteenth, twenty
- 0:25Speaker 1: twenty six. Follow us around the internet. We are Girls
- 0:29Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark everywhere Facebook, the Facebook community pops off. I
- 0:37Speaker 1: wanted to talk about it all of a sudden. I
- 0:41Speaker 1: don't know where it's coming from, but welcome. Glad to
- 0:43Speaker 1: see your first impressions over there. But we're also on
- 0:46Speaker 1: Instagram as Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Megan is referring to our first impression post last
- 0:52Speaker 2: Saturday night for absolutely Devoted to You. There were over
- 0:57Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty comments. Yes, that's insanity.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It really is, because those posts used to get like
- 1:04Speaker 1: two well on Facebook.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know what's happening, but great, it's great.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Look our opinion isn't the only opinion, right? No, absolutely not.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that movie was pretty well liked though. Oh you
- 1:17Speaker 1: think I mean I liked it?
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I do think I did see some of the comments,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but I also saw other ones. That were like, it
- 1:25Speaker 2: didn't work for me, and I was like, that's too bad.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I enjoyed it so much, so much that I listened
- 1:30Speaker 2: to Hotter than July yesterday.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It's streaming on Spotify y'all, so if you would like
- 1:37Speaker 1: to listen to the bop that is absolutely yeahs Hotter
- 1:41Speaker 1: than July it is. I'm sure you noticed, sung by
- 1:44Speaker 1: Jesse Metcalf. Yeah, there was some question about it in
- 1:47Speaker 1: our episode.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I played it for my young adult daughter
- 1:52Speaker 2: yesterday and what did she think? She was like, this
- 1:55Speaker 2: sounds like a song that would be in a Disney movie.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Oh well it was tall marks. Absolutely. Are you ready
- 2:00Speaker 2: for synopsis for Azzi at Heart? Samara, a former lawyer
- 2:06Speaker 2: now even planner, reunites with Nate, her ex coworker and rival,
- 2:11Speaker 2: to plan a couple's anniversary in Queensland and begin to
- 2:15Speaker 2: confront their past and fall for each other. Colin Budds
- 2:19Speaker 2: directed this film.
- 2:20Speaker 1: His other work for Hallmark includes a Melbourne Match from
- 2:23Speaker 1: earlier twenty twenty six.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Annsley Gordon and Sophie Tilson share story credit for Hallmark's
- 2:30Speaker 2: Ossy at Heart. ANNs Lee recently wrote a royal setting
- 2:35Speaker 2: and Melt My Heart this Christmas. Sophie has just a
- 2:38Speaker 2: handful of writing credits, but tons of producing credits.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Oh Rhann and Fish stars as Samara after a very
- 2:46Speaker 1: busy twenty twenty five for Rihanna and this is her
- 2:48Speaker 1: first project for Hallmark this year.
- 2:52Speaker 2: And Daniel Listing stars as Nate. Hallmark fans last saw
- 2:55Speaker 2: him in last year's single on the twenty fifth.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression of Ossie at Heart?
- 3:03Speaker 2: I've watched too much below deck to overlook the complete
- 3:07Speaker 2: lack of yacht staff.
- 3:10Speaker 1: We were in Newport Harbor or the other day when
- 3:14Speaker 1: on very small Duffy boat and a large yacht was
- 3:17Speaker 1: nearby and they were cruising back to what I think
- 3:20Speaker 1: was their slip. The guests on board the boat were
- 3:24Speaker 1: all relaxing around a table, but there was a young
- 3:26Speaker 1: woman in like a blue polo and a blue like
- 3:29Speaker 1: athletic skirt, like running up and downstairs grabbing stuff. I'm like, look,
- 3:33Speaker 1: that's les do that's the stew or the what do
- 3:36Speaker 1: they call the people that work on the deck decies, yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: or the boastin is like the head h yeah yeah, yeah, Anyway,
- 3:44Speaker 1: that is what I was envisioning anyway, I did, and
- 3:48Speaker 1: I felt bad because I was like, the other people
- 3:52Speaker 1: are just like sitting up there grabbing drinks, and she's like,
- 3:54Speaker 1: you know, frantically running up and down these steps as
- 3:57Speaker 1: they're getting ready to bring the boat back in. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 1: probably trying to get a tray of champagne and some hot,
- 4:02Speaker 1: warm towels for these people.
- 4:04Speaker 2: You know something.
- 4:06Speaker 1: My first impression is this movie was beautiful. It was
- 4:09Speaker 1: sunny and completely stakes free.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I've ever been so relaxed.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Well also being so bored.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It was boring, right, I agree.
- 4:20Speaker 1: A question for you, Yeah, do you think this was
- 4:23Speaker 1: an acquisition? I don't think it was because Hallmark was
- 4:27Speaker 1: promoting it as it was being made. Oh really Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 1: because I noticed that the casting person wasn't the usual
- 4:34Speaker 1: casting person on it, perhaps.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Just because it has a largely Australian Yeah. True, there
- 4:41Speaker 2: was something I don't know. Let's talk about it.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Well.
- 4:44Speaker 2: What did you like?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Well?
- 4:46Speaker 2: I liked that we got Daniel Listening as Australian Daniel
- 4:50Speaker 2: Listening fame. I enjoyed him here. I like that we
- 4:55Speaker 2: simply like we get to watch him be like who
- 4:58Speaker 2: he is. Yeah, in terms of his native tongue. I
- 5:02Speaker 2: guess I like Daniel Lessing a lot. Just give this
- 5:07Speaker 2: man a better movie.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Is when I was on the twenty fifth, I thought
- 5:10Speaker 1: was great. Oh yeah, I didn't really love that movie.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I remember not liking it that much. But I like
- 5:16Speaker 1: him so much, you know, in his character, right.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I found myself team Nate a lot in this movie. Huh,
- 5:25Speaker 2: because Nate likes to follow the rules. Huh. And considering
- 5:30Speaker 2: he's like this, like yacht captain or whatever. No, you
- 5:34Speaker 2: can't just shoot fireworks off your yacht, like, because.
- 5:37Speaker 1: You want Samarawuak captain to be a rule follower, keeping
- 5:40Speaker 1: you alive.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. And so I didn't like that he was
- 5:46Speaker 2: getting crapped on for being so buttoned up or being
- 5:49Speaker 2: so like by the book, rules were made to be broken.
- 5:52Speaker 2: No they really weren't. Yeah, I'm going to talk about
- 5:55Speaker 2: that too. Tell me what you liked.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Well, you know, the character the most actually was Nate's
- 6:01Speaker 1: brother Billy. Oh, Billy spits truth in this movie. I
- 6:06Speaker 1: mean right up top. He's like, Yo, you're good. You
- 6:09Speaker 1: can go back, Like, thank you for coming home to
- 6:11Speaker 1: help out with Dad, But we're good here.
- 6:13Speaker 2: You're not needed.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You can live your life like it's been great having you,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but go live your own life. And I appreciated that
- 6:19Speaker 1: because Tomorrow was not getting that same live your own
- 6:23Speaker 1: life vibe from her own family members. But the other
- 6:26Speaker 1: thing I liked is as supportive. As supportive as Billy was,
- 6:29Speaker 1: he's also the one at the end who tells him
- 6:31Speaker 1: to pull his head out of his you know what. Yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 1: when he's like, look, you jumped to a conclusion, ruined
- 6:37Speaker 1: this event for tomorrow, Like you need to go make
- 6:39Speaker 1: it right now. Yeah, you made an assumption based on misinformation.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Please go fix it. Yeah, vip Billy.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Props to Billy, who I actually think was not around
- 6:50Speaker 1: for quite a bit of the trip. They like every
- 6:52Speaker 1: one while, I'm like, what's Nate doing everything? And then
- 6:54Speaker 1: Billy would pop up every once in a while. Look,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I'm still telling you you can't run this yet, which
- 7:00Speaker 1: is just these two people. Know who is making the beds? Yeah?
- 7:05Speaker 2: Who's doing laundry? Right? Who's making food? I know they
- 7:08Speaker 2: said at one point they're like the kitchen made this
- 7:11Speaker 2: or these sandwiches or whatever, right, the uncast kitchen. Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I want to talk about Rihann and fish. Okay, I
- 7:18Speaker 2: thought She was much better in this movie than she
- 7:21Speaker 2: has been in some of her recent Hallmark movies. Yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 2: her character is still bubbly and spontaneous, but I thought
- 7:29Speaker 2: that Rhann and Fish played her with a little more maturity.
- 7:33Speaker 2: What I found to be absent was that quirky and
- 7:39Speaker 2: i'm gonna say it like that baby voice delivery we
- 7:42Speaker 2: get from her sometimes. Oh she did it, Oh it wasn't.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It didn't hit me over the head every time, though
- 7:49Speaker 1: in smaller, much much smaller doses.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So I liked her performance as Samara.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah, she as Samara is a much more or sure
- 8:01Speaker 1: of her self character than we often get. Right. The
- 8:05Speaker 1: wit Sundays were stunningly beautiful. I would love to go there.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It actually came up in a conversation with my husband
- 8:11Speaker 1: and a neighbor of ours who have both been there,
- 8:15Speaker 1: about what a nice vacation that would be. If it
- 8:18Speaker 1: weren't one million hours of a flight away, I would
- 8:22Speaker 1: have already planned a trip there.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I'm telling you, if I were going to Australia, I
- 8:28Speaker 2: would spend every single penny in my savings for like
- 8:32Speaker 2: the most luxury travel because of how long it takes
- 8:35Speaker 2: a skip.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely yes, sixteen hours on a plane, you've got
- 8:40Speaker 1: to be comfortable. I did think it was stunningly beautiful.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I do have some wishes about the location, but they
- 8:45Speaker 1: were selling me. The Australian Tourism Board got every penny
- 8:49Speaker 1: out of this movie that they should have.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah. At one point I saw the water, I was like,
- 8:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's the bluest water I've ever seen.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Right in your life. Yeah. I also really liked the
- 8:58Speaker 2: characters of lives parents. Oh my gosh, that mom was
- 9:02Speaker 2: the prettiest woman I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Truly stunning.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And the man playing her father, who is not credited
- 9:08Speaker 1: on IMDb as of this moment. The recording of this
- 9:10Speaker 1: episode really was selling me on the emotion he felt
- 9:14Speaker 1: for his wife during their vows. Yes, yeah, that's so
- 9:17Speaker 1: true that I was like, wait a minute, are these
- 9:19Speaker 1: two actually married?
- 9:20Speaker 2: I wondered. I assume they're not.
- 9:23Speaker 1: He's just a good actor, but I thought he really
- 9:26Speaker 1: had a lot of emotion in his voice and his reactions.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He was giving, like I marry my best friend, I'm
- 9:33Speaker 1: living the dream. I really enjoyed them and we'll get
- 9:38Speaker 1: to my wishes. But I do think they did a
- 9:41Speaker 1: nice job of telling us bits and pieces about their
- 9:44Speaker 1: love story and why we should care about celebrating the
- 9:48Speaker 1: two of them.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I agree with you. I'm going to talk
- 9:54Speaker 2: about it my wishes, okay.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And finally I'm glad that it's Nate who's doing the
- 9:57Speaker 1: moving and not Samara.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure, for sure. I have one more
- 10:02Speaker 2: like and it was just kind of you know, she's
- 10:05Speaker 2: wearing that necklace that he had given her or whatever. Yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 2: they do have this kind of intimate scene where he's like,
- 10:12Speaker 2: oh the necklace if it felt pretty romantic, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 2: Like we talk about these like nuanced scenes at Make
- 10:19Speaker 2: of Yours, Phil, Like, I thought this was one of them.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, because he like he touches yes, and it's like
- 10:25Speaker 1: a skin on skin moment.
- 10:27Speaker 2: It is.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I think you're right. It was very It was an
- 10:29Speaker 1: intimate moment.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But you know, their kiss at the end was pretty HoTT.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I did think actually that I think that was a
- 10:36Speaker 1: great kiss as well. And I thought the emotion she
- 10:38Speaker 1: was showing in the conversation leading up to the kiss
- 10:41Speaker 1: was very well.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Done as well.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And they kiss like a lot. It's not one kiss,
- 10:45Speaker 1: like they keep going back for it.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yes, it was as long as some of the excursions
- 10:50Speaker 2: that they went on.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Let's take a quick break and come back to talk
- 10:54Speaker 1: about our wishes, man, I.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Got a long list of wishes.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Huh.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Let's hear first. I want to talk about why Hallmark
- 11:12Speaker 2: chose this movie to top off their birthday celebration. I
- 11:17Speaker 2: can't figure out why. I thought last week's movie with
- 11:21Speaker 2: Kimberly Sestad and Jesse Metcalf was a home run. Yes,
- 11:26Speaker 2: in comparison to the three movies we've gotten in this
- 11:29Speaker 2: birthday celebration. That's why I asked you if this was
- 11:32Speaker 2: an acquisition, if you thought it was. I thought this
- 11:35Speaker 2: movie was fine. It was not terrible, but I think
- 11:40Speaker 2: fine is such a disappointing way to end something that
- 11:43Speaker 2: Hallmark is telling us is special.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Well, I think you're right that it's fine because it's
- 11:49Speaker 1: pleasant to look at, and I think the acting is
- 11:52Speaker 1: at a decent level here. The issue with me is
- 11:55Speaker 1: that I have a lot of issues with the story.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And yes, you're not paying attentions if you're just watching
- 12:02Speaker 1: and it's on in the background, and every once in
- 12:04Speaker 1: a while you see them like having a cute jet
- 12:06Speaker 1: ski moment or finding a treasure or telling a cute story.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It's great, but when you dig into it, I think
- 12:14Speaker 1: my biggest problem with this movie is that there's so
- 12:17Speaker 1: much of the story that lives in the past, yes,
- 12:21Speaker 1: that we're told via exposition, the conflict between Samara and Nate,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and all of the love story between Liv's parents and
- 12:30Speaker 1: Liz has been trying to get pregnant.
- 12:32Speaker 2: For a long time.
- 12:34Speaker 1: All of this is told in exposition, and I just
- 12:38Speaker 1: I don't care that much about it. And the big
- 12:42Speaker 1: conflict is about we're watching this movie and I'm thinking,
- 12:46Speaker 1: what's the problem here? And then I realized that the
- 12:51Speaker 1: entire stakes upon which this movie is built is about
- 12:54Speaker 1: are we going to get fireworks at the end? And
- 12:57Speaker 1: it's just not enough for me to care. Part of
- 13:00Speaker 1: it is if I'm Live's parents, and I am this
- 13:04Speaker 1: genuinely happy that we're renewing our vows and celebrating our
- 13:09Speaker 1: forty year relationship. And these two seem like each other's
- 13:12Speaker 1: best friends and like they couldn't be happier to be
- 13:15Speaker 1: here together. They don't give two Sahiit's about whether or
- 13:19Speaker 1: not there's fireworks.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Is it a nice touch?
- 13:22Speaker 3: Sure?
- 13:22Speaker 1: If it's not there, they care more about each other
- 13:25Speaker 1: than about this event. Yeah, they never showed us that
- 13:28Speaker 1: they would have flipped out if there were Live cared
- 13:32Speaker 1: she was trying to create a fun event, a memorable
- 13:35Speaker 1: event for her parents. But it's like thinking about people
- 13:38Speaker 1: who care more about the wedding than the marriage. These
- 13:40Speaker 1: people care more about their marriage and party.
- 13:42Speaker 2: That's what they've showed us.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So, Okay, Live might be disappointed. But first of all,
- 13:48Speaker 1: maybe they don't even know that it's supposed to happen.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Right, you know that saying like if you didn't know
- 13:52Speaker 2: it was supposed to happen, then you never miss it.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yes, And I just think like Live gets all spun up,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like the party starts and she's like, but what about
- 13:58Speaker 1: the fireworks? Even way too hot at the beginning of
- 14:01Speaker 1: that party, was like, stand down, it's okay. I just
- 14:06Speaker 1: didn't really care yeah about the fireworks.
- 14:10Speaker 2: No, neither did I. Also, the other conflict between Nate
- 14:16Speaker 2: and Samara being ex coworkers and they're falling out is
- 14:21Speaker 2: incredibly thin. We have these two people who this I
- 14:26Speaker 2: don't even understand, were lawyers at one time in this
- 14:30Speaker 2: professional career. They have a bad case, so then they
- 14:34Speaker 2: each he goes off to like help his family because
- 14:37Speaker 2: his dad's sick. She quits her job as a lawyer
- 14:40Speaker 2: to become an event planner, right yeah, And they blame
- 14:44Speaker 2: each other for what went wrong in their case.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And they still don't really seem to come to a
- 14:50Speaker 1: resolution about it.
- 14:51Speaker 2: And any resolution they did it was very quick. They'd
- 14:55Speaker 2: been hanging onto all this baggage, and then she was like,
- 14:59Speaker 2: we make a good team because we're opposites.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And no, no, no, no no no no no no no, and
- 15:03Speaker 1: it's insane. Look the resolution there is. Then the resolution
- 15:09Speaker 1: while they're kissing doesn't land for me. Nate gives a
- 15:13Speaker 1: heartfelt apology and Samara's like, I just don't know where
- 15:16Speaker 1: to go from here. Seems like she doesn't still trust him.
- 15:20Speaker 1: She's crying. It doesn't feel like she's telling me she
- 15:24Speaker 1: has feelings for him. But then they have this very
- 15:26Speaker 1: passionate kiss and she's like, alling, no, is this doesn't
- 15:28Speaker 1: end here, which, on one hand, I appreciate. There's no
- 15:32Speaker 1: I love you, there's no let's go back to Seattle
- 15:34Speaker 1: and start our lives together. It's just to be continued.
- 15:38Speaker 1: But I just thought, oh, we still have some issues
- 15:40Speaker 1: here to resolve. Speaking of unresolved issues, we have the
- 15:45Speaker 1: Samara's career conflict with her father.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, this is.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Another thing that takes place off screen. The client up
- 15:52Speaker 1: front tells us, Oh, your dad's wondering when you're gonna
- 15:55Speaker 1: come back to law, and he sneakily signs her up
- 15:59Speaker 1: for this interview.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And none of it.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Is strong enough for me to think that this is
- 16:05Speaker 1: a real conflict that they're having.
- 16:07Speaker 2: What I also don't understand is what was so compelling
- 16:11Speaker 2: for her to have to walk away from her law career, Like,
- 16:14Speaker 2: what was so debat saving what she didn't have any
- 16:17Speaker 2: passion for it? Okay, fine, she has passion for event planning.
- 16:21Speaker 2: She's also a wow in her thirties. At some point
- 16:25Speaker 2: you tell your parents like, look, this is what I'm doing.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I'm good, bills are being paid, I'm taking care of myself.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I'm good. Are you If your parent have like a
- 16:35Speaker 2: thirty year old adult, they have a job, and yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 2: are you pissed or no?
- 16:40Speaker 1: Unless our job is hitman like professional puppy kicker.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Right, they're in their bills, they have a job. Great,
- 16:49Speaker 2: happy for you. There's nothing in you that's like, well,
- 16:52Speaker 2: I paid for law school and now here you are
- 16:56Speaker 2: hosting baby showers. I just think you can't.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I can understand having to rewrite your vision of what
- 17:04Speaker 1: your child's life is going to be, because I think
- 17:06Speaker 1: the worst thing we can do as parents is like
- 17:08Speaker 1: project that. But it's impossible not to I do it.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I like think what their lives could be. So yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 1: maybe you're gonna have to rewrite that vision in your head.
- 17:18Speaker 1: But that's a you problem, not.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Of them from it.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Right, you were allowed to make your own choices. Now
- 17:25Speaker 1: they need to be allowed to live their own damn life.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yeah you can't.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna pay for you to school on the stipulation
- 17:31Speaker 1: that you have a job that I approve of for
- 17:33Speaker 1: the rest of your life.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Totally. Just no, that's not that's not gonna work. Agree. Agree.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I needed Samara to dial way back on the rules
- 17:44Speaker 2: are made to be broken, like personality quirk that she has.
- 17:49Speaker 2: She's a real pain in the ass compared to Nate.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I feel like, well, she is.
- 17:53Speaker 1: But then the thing that the end, he's like, you're
- 17:56Speaker 1: the kind of person that makes me want to break rules,
- 17:57Speaker 1: but he doesn't break any I know, so do I buy?
- 18:01Speaker 2: I don't know if I buy that.
- 18:02Speaker 1: You know, I make me want to break rules, but
- 18:04Speaker 1: I'm not actually gonna do that because that.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Goes against everything in me. I get that it's a
- 18:10Speaker 2: nice balance to have somebody who like pushes you a
- 18:13Speaker 2: little bit out of your comfort zone. Comfort zone both ways.
- 18:17Speaker 2: But you know, come on, I just thought she was
- 18:20Speaker 2: so annoying.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I wish there had been like a better example of
- 18:24Speaker 1: rules were made to be broken. Then we're gonna shoot
- 18:27Speaker 1: fireworks off of this boat because this is dangerous?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, she was making him come off like
- 18:32Speaker 2: captain no fun and he's just trying to make sure
- 18:36Speaker 2: Like look, like I said, I have watched enough below deck,
- 18:40Speaker 2: like there's all kinds of crazy like rules that you
- 18:43Speaker 2: have to follow a while at sea. So and he
- 18:46Speaker 2: needs to keep the people on his boat safe.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Well, the thing that doesn't make any sense to me
- 18:51Speaker 1: is she has a backup plan. The barge is gonna
- 18:54Speaker 1: shoot off the fireworks. Of course that falls through, But
- 19:00Speaker 1: why that wasn't the go to plan to begin with?
- 19:02Speaker 2: Then we don't have to be fighting with him this
- 19:04Speaker 2: entire time, right, And I just have this thought while
- 19:07Speaker 2: you're saying that I can't really this movie the conflict
- 19:11Speaker 2: is about freaking fireworks. I get that there is a
- 19:18Speaker 2: Hallmark viewer out there that love like the escapist, romantic,
- 19:23Speaker 2: traditional Hallmark conflict. I get that I like movies like
- 19:27Speaker 2: that sometimes too, but come on, we need a better
- 19:31Speaker 2: script here. Look.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I would say that the series Paris is a good idea,
- 19:36Speaker 1: is operating within the Hallmark confines, and is doing it well.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So I just do not simply buy that it has
- 19:48Speaker 1: to be. There's low stakes and then there's steaks that
- 19:52Speaker 1: I just can't even get it up for. Let's talk
- 19:57Speaker 1: to you to see that I have white a few
- 20:00Speaker 1: do you white one? Like real one? And it's at
- 20:05Speaker 1: the beginning of the movie. Samara gets a voicemail from Sophie,
- 20:09Speaker 1: a woman who has also sent her her resume. No
- 20:13Speaker 1: samaras based in Seattle. Sophie has an Australian accent because
- 20:17Speaker 1: this movie was filmed in Australia. So whatever supporting character
- 20:21Speaker 1: role this woman got, you know, I went to a
- 20:24Speaker 1: local Australian actor.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I just thought it was funny. Well actually, well, actually
- 20:29Speaker 2: this is the part of Her name is Sophie Tilsen.
- 20:31Speaker 2: She's the writer and producer on this movie. Look at
- 20:34Speaker 2: that her resume, said Sophie Tilsen. I don't know if
- 20:37Speaker 2: that was her actual picture that was on and I
- 20:39Speaker 2: was gonna look I forgot, but I don't know if
- 20:42Speaker 2: that's her voice that makes the voicemail, but her resume
- 20:46Speaker 2: that they show on screen. It says Sophie Tilsen. Yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 2: I love that. I love it. Look at that. The
- 20:53Speaker 2: boat was acting in this movie too. I don't know
- 20:56Speaker 2: if you heard it, but there were several dialogue scenes
- 20:59Speaker 2: and you could hear in the boat in the background,
- 21:03Speaker 2: like the boat was squeaking so loudly. Had you noticed?
- 21:07Speaker 2: I didn't, Oh, my god, Like at one point my
- 21:09Speaker 2: dog like looked up that sound so kind And then
- 21:15Speaker 2: in terms there was a lot of like transition scenes
- 21:19Speaker 2: that had like very loud music. I know the music
- 21:23Speaker 2: really bothers some people. It doesn't typically bother me, but
- 21:26Speaker 2: this movie, for some reason, there they would transition from
- 21:29Speaker 2: shot to shot where they're trying these big overhead shots
- 21:32Speaker 2: of like the yacht just like gamming through the water
- 21:34Speaker 2: with the like lights coming off of it and just
- 21:36Speaker 2: like headbanging rocker music behind it. I'm like, what is happening?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Is what's going on? At one point I think we
- 21:45Speaker 2: got some AI butterflies. Oh, yes, you saw that, right,
- 21:49Speaker 2: I did. I wondered also if they were AI CGI.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Anytime there's an animal on screen, I'm like, is that real?
- 21:56Speaker 2: I like, stop that. But didn't you think the exc
- 22:00Speaker 2: version were they were so long? Nate and Samara on
- 22:06Speaker 2: this jet ski for the longest time. It was filler. Yes,
- 22:11Speaker 2: which goes back to please get better scripts like the.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Jet ski was fun, but yeah, I thought it could
- 22:17Speaker 1: have been half as long.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Totally. Two more little things. Nate is on a Zoom
- 22:22Speaker 2: interview and I loled because this is such a boat captain.
- 22:25Speaker 2: He's brain shorts, but he also has like a shirt.
- 22:29Speaker 2: It made me laugh. Made me laugh. And last day
- 22:33Speaker 2: talk about Lamington's, which are a Australian dessert. Did you
- 22:39Speaker 2: hear it? She shows him like she has a box
- 22:42Speaker 2: of like these desserts and he goes, oh, and he
- 22:44Speaker 2: says the name of it, you know, in his accent.
- 22:47Speaker 2: It was hard so I had to like Google to
- 22:49Speaker 2: figure out exactly what they're called. And I'm probably not
- 22:51Speaker 2: saying it right, but this American accent is its lambingtones,
- 22:57Speaker 2: but it is squares of bunge cake coated in chocolate
- 23:01Speaker 2: and rolled in coconut and sometimes filled with jam or cream.
- 23:06Speaker 2: It sounds like a zinger to me, like a sounds
- 23:08Speaker 2: kind of good, you know. I was like, where can
- 23:10Speaker 2: I get that in Orange County? Yeah? Were they like
- 23:13Speaker 2: packaged or like someone had made them? I don't remember.
- 23:17Speaker 2: She just had like this weird box of like treats. Okay,
- 23:20Speaker 2: Shannon from Australia, we need to know. Can can we
- 23:23Speaker 2: get you to send us some of these? Oh my
- 23:25Speaker 2: gosh she just just saw Megan Space just light up,
- 23:30Speaker 2: Uncle Lambington. I would love that if those are like
- 23:34Speaker 2: a you know, a processed you know, dessert tree, like
- 23:39Speaker 2: I'm thinking like a hostess would make them. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 23:43Speaker 2: please send us an email, Shannon. Well, we'll give you an.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Address like a Tim Tam. Yeah, but we can get those.
- 23:48Speaker 1: You can get those here? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that's.
- 23:51Speaker 2: All I got. All Right, Well, what did you rate
- 23:54Speaker 2: Aussie at Heart? Pretty to look at? Two point seven
